"On Ly two, But two Really good games mean talking fantasy there with Andrew Erickson easily playable games you get You don't You don't need that that level from your tight end to feel good about it. Yes, you have, like Travis Kelsey. And maybe George Kittle. Then you really do have a high standard everybody else. Scaling on down from Waller all the way on down, you get anything you're happy. These days. By that zeroes. Darren Fells was in a great spot last week for Houston. No Jordan Aitken's They're playing, You know, they were playing in a high scoring game script with the Packers, and they get way behind and he was coming off a game or Yes. Six catches on eight targets. Yeah, zero Nothing. Joe and I had a conversation earlier. Who would you rather start this week? Chris Herndon or Dionne Dawkins. I'm not sure it's not. We haven't seen Dionne Dawkins Touchdown catch yet. He probably has a touchdown before current in the last one. Week, 16 last year. And Herndon hasn't had one since his rookie year. He hasn't had one this year. You know that. Is that week 16 bills Pat's last season. 15 or 16. What? Whatever it was that gave me a touchdown. Dawkins. That guy? Nothing. Turn it in. I mean, you can't even play him. I had him in more leads than anybody in the league. I think I had him in six of the seven league women and it's just all I still have them. I think in all of them, but Tackle couldn't couldn't he have earned one target last week against the bills? He said he had one target. But how about to then? He had none against Miami the week before, so, also a game. They're losing. The Jets are always losing. Yeah, they lost 20 for nothing. The Jets had a lead against the bills, and they put it on the screen. This is the first lead of any I'm out for a long time. Whatever it was, I mean, they'd attend nothing leading that game. The Jets. He's maybe just bed. I mean Bay. Maybe he's bad. Like I watch him play. Just drop the football like Something. Something's not right there, which had a drive. He was very good in his rookie season. He's not used to getting the ball. You can't blame him. He had a drop against the Dolphins. Maybe maybe it was a different game. Denver he had won game where he had the final Flaco through It finally came to him, and he dropped it, but he was probably shocked. I don't know, Joe. You know that's an interesting thing you say, because It's it's to me like I guess there are times when you could just say it. A player is bad right? That there are times when you could just say it. But I'm telling you what we've seen in the last few years of this league, and it's probably always been true. What we've seen in the last few years of this league is proof all the time. Continuing proof. That system and situation are so important. And who knows? If a guy is bad, or even good, sometimes, like if you play if he produces any produces and you really don't even need to scrutinize it, But I get my hope my own head about this stuff. Because I think I think there's no better. Group. I guess there's no better way, mate. Maybe. To analyze that in the 2018 quarterbacks in the NFL draft. And how their environment their situations. All these things have meant so much to their their results, which if I need to say it, I really don't does not take away from what they've done individually, But they would also all admit it right. Josh Allen would admit it. I'm sure he has lots of times, Probably That you know, broadcasters are always talking about him in this way Last week, Rich Gannon was big on it that there was the right situation. We didn't really know if This team would be the right situation. We did not have much experience with Sean McDermott or Brandon being. And we've also those of us that have been here a long time have watched the bills just turn over turn through quarterbacks and not be a team that Looks good in this area, and it's probably ruined guys who otherwise would have had good careers. Not that the bills wanted that to happen, but just could not be stable enough. For the player to make it. And that is to their credit. I mean, what has happened here? So far is very much to their credit. If you know that, if that's not obvious, but think about the all those quarterbacks it's been said many times written about. I saw Fivethirtyeight last week, Roden ordered article they were, they went next, writing an article about those five quarterbacks and barely mentioned even Josh Rosen. Like I don't even want to assume the Josh Rosen couldn't have had success in another situation. Because really, you know how Disadvantaged. He wass. A team that could not protect him at all with a new defense of minded coach And then it just he he had no time to do anything on that team as a rookie. And by the time the season was over, they fell last in the league and just fired their coach and started again because they had another opportunity to do that that they took in Murray. And look at that guy. You put him in, and he just takes off, though you know, Lots of people will tell you. Most people would tell you that. That's all you need on Rosen and maybe they're right. But I just don't want to assume that he wouldn't have been good. On a different team. Just in the same. It's the same logic as accepting that Baltimore Is a big reason why Lamar Jackson had success will can't you can't go one way and not the other..

"Walking a lot of cash. Yeah, 12344321 like all he's doing all the tests commission. Did you start drinking heavily before or after you found out Justin Turner tested positive in the second inning? Exactly the question would be, sir. What do your protocols What would your protocols state When a player test positive At any point around the game. Is it? Not clearly Maybe they didn't write it, but their prior actions show you stop the game, right then and there, don't you? I mean, I just beyond me. We'll see what what the repercussions are just hopefully we'll find out Justin Turner the false positive He wasn't positive, and that wasn't a reckless knowing Super spreader event on live national TV. During something called the World Series that I mean, that's that's basically what they what they what they presented. America last night was unbelievable. By the way is there any other explanation of how he was speaking? It's Tio. I don't know. I don't I don't maybe heard his voice back at an echo. Money was because it was it was on the P A. There was an interview we did earlier. Where I thought there was something on there. I beached. I don't know. I don't know. You may have had a few martinis. The commissioner Sweet. I don't know what is going on Live TV knows he has to present the trophy at the Dodgers win tonight, so and he had a major raging Controversy in a major issue. Don't even watch the game. I mean, what? What? What did he know today? No. Justin Turner was positive during the middle of the game. Well, what's your It's your responsibility to notify all the people that could be Within proximity of him. All right, let's put it over the football. We ask Trent Williams about this about about 40 minutes ago about the luxury of not going up to Seattle. With the 12th man blaring in their ear. Pete Carroll says it doesn't have much of an effect. It's really different. Yeah, it's much. It's much different in the experience of just walking on, you know, out of the time I'm getting on the field with their fans was always such a thrill, you know, and they're just they're such remarkable fans. They're so you know, so involved with making it special that did not have that is, it's an entirely different experience. What's interesting is the experiences in all of the stadiums are, you know kind of the same. There's such a such a marginal difference between playing home playing on the road. It doesn't matter that much. I think it gives him a great advantage. I think when you go up there, it's even intimidating as well as loud and I just I think they got a great shot again. He said that he acknowledged that they acknowledged the huge advantage they have of the deafening roar. However, it's created by their 12th man or Whether they do it, and they did it. They did it artificially earlier. There's no doubt I think they've backed away. The league knew what they were doing. But he acknowledged that it's It's a tremendous difference. They don't have they. No, they no longer have the huge home field advantage from a you know a soundstage by they have the wind in the field and all that. Playing close to the water there, But beyond that, they don't they don't have that advantage anymore. He kind of acknowledged that. All right. And finally George Kittle. He was miked up on Sunday. Here's what Santa like. Hey, guys. I got the day off early. It's crazy to our defence. Put up some fantasy points. Did everybody leave the game fans left all the fans. The whole team is super charge on national fight ended over the soaring touchdown birthday down. Same thing. Oh, To know our national tight end, baby. Let's go. He just thinks that more fun. So down, my Lord. He's a downer. I.

"They were ableto, you know. Ah, trade away. Some guy's trade away from salary in the process would be more of AH, Player for player type betrayed than a player for pics to create an interesting and I know everyone wants to talk about two Offensive positions in particular and the wide receiver thing and I don't know it feels like they always want to want to trade for a wife receiver. They did it last year. And with the injury trickle down effect. It certainly feels like something that explore if they could this year, but but without any money, what do you What do you think the plan is with Debo, probably missing at least the next two. Yeah, I don't know what the answer is, but that's a big, You know, It's a big guy to miss because he's not just a wideout for them. I mean, he got hurt on a play where he wind up in the backfield of the tailback. Uh, he's he's personified exactly what has allowed them to win these last two games, which is a really sort of tough guy punched him in the mouth type of attitude. And Deebo, Samuel Me. I always compare him to a bowling ball goes into those defensive backs and they go flying like they're They're pains in a bowling alley. So not having him for the next couple of games is a big deal. And I don't know what you know There isn't a substitute. Um, somebody today asked me in my mail bag about Kevin White. I think that's really interesting because he's sort of that. That big catch and run type receiver. Remember. He was a former seventh overall picked by the Chicago Bears back 2015 and certainly not come anywhere close to living up to that draft status. But on paper, at least, he's really interesting, and I just wonder whether they couldn't do some of the same things with white that they do. It's a male just there on the screen and just let him kind of lower shoulder and bowl into guys the way that they do with Depot Samuel. I don't think that's going to happen, but it's kind of interesting Tow. Kind of imagine what white could do in this offense, talking with Maddie Barrows on the 40 Niners, But it's interesting because we all love watching Debo play. I think he He personifies this particular group with the 40 Niners. So there's a lot to love. But I also I remember thinking this last year, I wonder about the sustainability of someone who plays that way. What do you think about that? Yeah. I mean, he was not always healthy at South Carolina, um, had a lot of injuries. They're going into that that final season. I think he was okay as a senior, but but you're right. I mean, that's sort of the catch 22 all this. I mean, it's the same way with George Kittle. Uh, you love the fact that he's dragging two or three tacklers, but you know it. It raises the chances that one of those tacklers is goingto curl over his ankle. Just like what happened with Jeff Wilson on that's on that TV. Um, you know. Ah, How do you answer that question? Tell him not break tackles, right? That's what this team's calling card has become show. I know. You know, you almost have to kind of accept it and try to Soldier rush her up with enough of those guys, which which the 40 Niners have done that When one goes down, you can rely on the other. But, yeah, I think that's a big kind of question. Mark going forward with the IPO. Samuel with George Kittle, which kills becoming not just You know, they're top pass catcher, not just the top tight end in the NFL. He's becoming the team leader like the biggest guy in the locker room, the most important voice on this team. So if you lose him for two or three games a year, which is entirely possible that that's that's a huge deal becomes a huge deal. Year in and year out. I think it's just got to be something that people deal with it. Matt. You mentioned your colleague David Lombardi. I was listening into him earlier today on with Papa in London. He brought up Ah, number that fascinated me. And he said that Jimmy Garoppolo when it gets rid of the ball and 2.5 seconds or less, is the top rated quarterback in the NFL. What? It's 2.5 seconds arm or he's the lowest rated quarterback in the NFL with just I mean, that's an unbelievable disparity. What is that number say to you? Do you telling me that Kyle Shanahan is drawing up some great place rim and it goes back to what? We were just talking about a ll the yak guys. Ah, when you're getting rid of the ball that quickly, you're not throwing a very far down the field most of the time in recent game, he running and throwing it across the line scrimmage. Um, but they're still gaining big yards. I forget what stats were from that Rams game, But I want to say eight. Throws Debo Samuel, each of them behind the line of scrimmage, and he had a great game. Um, so these are great play designs. Obviously, Jimmy Garoppolo gets rid the ball quickly. So when these guys do get the ball, you know, the defense is still reacting at that point, but ah, it's just Shanahan. Um, dialing a place that suit Garoppolo and that suit the strength of this this offense, which is what Ah, great play caller does, but I'm not sure there's anybody right now and doing it better than Palestinian is there. Is there a hidden negative in that though I mean there? There are still questions. I think. About how much Constanta hand trust Jimmy to go out and and, you know, do win a game on his own or or make big plays in the fourth quarter. We've been talking about this since February is not something that's a part of that. Yeah, For sure. I mean, he had Ah, throw to Brendan. I you the other day traveled 37 yards in the air. It was his first throw this even that that went more than 20 yards. That was a completion. And even that one. Um I You know you risk anytime. You praise Jimmy Garoppolo on Twitter, you risk the wrath of people who don't like Garoppolo. Even that completion. I noted, Well, a deep ball from Jimmy Garoppolo on people. And will you if you let him inside, it would have been a walking touchdown. True was a little bit of bass. It's just not a strength of his and and you mentioned it going back to the Super Bowl. He hits Emmanuel Sanders and late in the fourth quarter, probably a 40 Niners victory s O that That's been a gap in his game since Eastern Illinois just does not throw the ball deep a lot and not all that accurate when he does. Matt Barrows, the athletic with us. What is the plan at running back? First offices? Tevin Coleman. Maybe maybe in this game Yeah, you know, last week couch any and seemed pretty sceptical about that. He was a little bit more optimistic on Monday. Um, we'll have to see during the week. But he was talking about, you know, making a decision on Coleman on Friday, which which tells me the boy even if he plays, he's probably not going to be You know, 25 carry guy. So, um, it's looking like a big Michael hasty game, which I think would please a lot of people that have seen flashes of talent in him..

So this is this is one of those games that's going to be fun to talk about the lead up because there's a lot of great stores notes and then I think from one to four on Sundays can be really fun game to watch also. Similarity between these teams named both lost essential pieces. Both Michigan men, the steelers lost Devin Bush the former Great Michigan linebacker who is their defensive play caller to a season ending torn sealant on Sunday in. Tennessee. And that's the kind of guy he was at nowhere just send me a text to thank me for making him. Look good when you didn't need me to make him look good. He always look good anyway. He was that kind of guy in the tributes that poured into him is past week were fitting and appropriate, and he will be missed as will sit harmon a legend. Hey thank you so much. It was a pleasure to be on. Thank you. George. There is forty niners pro bowl tight end George cadle the man that's new England's problem on Sunday or less. Friday. Had was nights and a lot like every night during over where you're at, you're staying inside and my wife is the controller of the remote control and she kinda surfs through some things very rarely. Do we watch anything that I want to watch because I watch sports on the nights that there aren't games on and so the nights that there are no football games I her watch whatever she wants but I'm just night Friday night last Friday night i. Would you mind watching this documentary that ran on Hbo Wildcard The downfall of Radio loud mouth, which is about Craig. Carton? A former New York sports talk radio host who went to prison. Watch. The whole thing at a certain idea of what it would be like going in. It was better than I thought it was really really good. So anybody gets a chance watch that highly recommended and what was great about it is right after it ended my wife flipped ABC which on twenty airing a three part series called John Lennon is life legacy last days where John Lennon's close friends in college provide insight into his life and lasting memory I got out that was unbelievable. Wow. Mean Everybody Remembers Howard cosell delivering the news about John Lennon. The shot outside his apartment on the upper west side were not far from where I live when I moved back to New York in two thousand six. On. To hear the story of how and sold it was. Just. Wow and. They had a newsman in the hospital who worked for ABC. Producer. Who happened to be in the halls when they rushed in John Lennon or emergency surgery, and of course, he's ICONIC figure he's one of the rate figures in American. History Jolly. What? I was just as interested in the newsman's approach. To this huge story unfolding in front of him And how he was able to confirm and handle. That John Lennon had been assassinated. The guy was in there for surgery and heard that it was John Lennon was peering into the rooms. And just very interestingly handled it and he called his desk ABC I think we have John Lennon here and they said, wow, there was a shooting outside of the CODA which was department of John Lennon lived in. And they were able to piece together that one plus one equals two, which is sometimes how it works. In Journalism. Ahead other information to corroborate it, which then led them to pass on the information to the news desk, which passed it onto Howard cosell would deliberated to the entire country during Monday night football, and all this was explained during this great show on ABC John Lennon his life legacy and last as and you could watch that. On ABC. Demand streaming and I highly highly recommend that. All right before we get to the Michigan Wide Receiver Nico College so I don't believe a spoke publicly about his decision. The opt out. "MLB insider buster only as he leads the baseball discussion alongside other top analysts download and subscribe to baseball tonight with buster only as well as the Adam Schefter podcast on apple spotify or wherever you get your podcasts and it's interesting because as record this podcast on Tuesday morning. This marks the one year anniversary. Of Ryan Tannehill replacing Marcus Mariota reformer. Overall pick and the titans reform inch taking off from there, and really when you look at it Ryan Tannehill as key performance, he's been the engine that is made that team go and turn them into order the best teams in the NFL we. Ryan Tannehill was coming out. It's funny. He has basically shined in a way for a longer period of time more than the other quarterbacks from his draft class Andrew Luck win number one Robert. Griffen. Third go in second. And I remember when Washington traded up. And remember talking to the Washington head coach at that time Mike Shanahan. Remember Mike saying to me that he thought that Ryan Tannehill. At. A real chance to be as good if not better. Any quarterback in that class, you remember tannahill takes an played wide receiver was converted to quarterback and Shannon back in. Liked him as much as the other quarterbacks now, that would have been controversial take I'm if we come out around that. The Washington. Go choose take rg three beliefs just as much. Ryan addle I'm sure Michael Mommy saying this but he did he was a big Rhine Anna Hill reporter and I think he's been validated because Ryan tannehill now started teen games for the titans. Is thrilled for almost four thousand yards re thousand, nine, hundred, sixty, six to be exact. Heathrow for thirty five touchdowns. Seven interceptions run for two hundred, fifty eight more yards and run for five touchdowns in those fifteen games. Tennessee Titans are twelve and three and riot title place. Right Tennessee team right now that really dealt with the first outbreak in the NFL. And we all know that seems to be the story that follows the league all season long and what it is felt like to me. Is a game of whack a mole. That's what it feels like. Every single day, there's another situation of POPs up who let's take care of the situation in Tennessee. Boop we have a situation in doing them. We've a situation in Jacksonville. We've got a situation, ATLANTA We. got a situation in the Annapolis. We've got a situation Carolina and the season's GonNa. Go all night this. That is how this is going. Play out whack a mole slam down another one pops up but the story of Tuesday no doubt was the Miami. Making the decision to bench. Ryan. Fitzpatrick and to start to a tunnel by Loa after their bye week, this week will make his first start at home next week against Aaron Donald in the Los Angeles. Rams and we know what to could potentially bring to dolphins they. This is the right time for him physically mentally emotionally. saw what could bring On Sunday in two minutes he played against the jets and I think they figured if he was good enough to play Sunday against the Justin, why isn't he good enough to start now especially with Joe Borrow playing well as Cincinnati and Justin herber playing better in Los Angeles chargers, and so it's to time but that also means it's no more time for. Its Magic, Ryan Fitzpatrick who was a guest on this podcast a few weeks back and who is incredibly well liked and respected and loved in that locker room and I think that too could not have a better mentor to learn from Dan Ryan Fitzpatrick and that was illustrated on this podcast when Fitzpatrick Patrick was talking about, hang it forward with Joa I. Think. I have had such a Great career in terms of the people that I've met and the people that have helped me out along the way. and. I just view it as paying it forward a little bit and that I've. I've made enough. Mistakes for you know plenty of quarterbacks combined with the things that I've been through and done and to be able to share those experiences the good and the bad with some of these younger guys if I could, you know be a small part of helping them in their career and making them a better player than that makes it worth it to me so. I wouldn't be. where I am right now if it wasn't for Mark Bolger and Gus Viraat and and Jamie, Martin and a guy like Carson Palmer. Who really took time and helped me out when you know out out of their way to make sure that you know I had a chance to be successful. So when I think back to those years and to those guys especially Carson Palmer and the way that he affected my career, even just being able to observe and watch him every day. I feel very happy and privileged to be in a position that I'm in right now to be able to pay it forward to somebody to there's just another example of White Ryan Fitzpatrick. is so well liked so well, respected and so well loved around the League and will continue to be so even as the backup for to a tunnel vilo. Mole season continues on Sunday with the next rate slate of matchups in some highly anticipated matchups including the forty niners going to New England, and in that Game Patriots will get a chance the see one of the best players in all football a man who bill belichick said is as good as anyone he seen, which usually is something Bill Belgian thanks to do a week. "Carries a lot of weight and, ah It's incredible how he can motivated team and also find a lot of firing your ass. Hey, get that done, And he's really good at in its natural friends and everybody respected. So, yes, we misses. You know his gun thinking ability, But I know he's an incredible leader to and I mean, I've been in one of our most port leaders. So once we get when we get him back, that will definitely be a huge boost for us. All right. Good stuff. Good. George. We've got George Kittle with us of the Murphy Mac show George. Obviously, a huge missing link this year is the fans in the seats, man, and it can really, you know, affect the outcome of game. Ames in certain cases, defense on the field. That kind of thing got the fans Miss you. You're a total crowd favorite down Levi Stadium. And you know what's it like playing without fans? And if you could communicate a message to the fans, like What would your message two Niner fans be that are dying to get back in there and see you guys? Well, I will say we definitely missed you guys so much. You know, we hear every cheer Um, I know that there was not a better atmosphere than the nephew. Chance of game. That was some of the most fun I've ever had playing football. Um, but even when we do we still feel you guys and we know you have supporting us. So thank you so much for that. No one would do get band back in the stands. We know you guys were compared stadium down, and so We thank you for that, You know, just keep supporting because we'll get things rolling here. We're excited about it. Yeah, for sure doing his thing. All right. Well, then, let's talk about the overall picture than Georgia two and two. So every story is different. Every seasons. Different last year. You guys won eight. No, right. I mean, that was easy. Everything went your way now two different path at two and to just kind of wondering the George Kittle, you know, message to both your teammates and to the fan base about how you guys handle this different road. Nick poses her Rahim's her Jimmy's heard. It's a term in a different bunch of hurdles in front of you. So how do you guys attacking? You know you're right. Every season is completely different. But there's always similarities. And, Yeah, we started eight No last year, but At the same time. I mean, they're not of injuries we had last year was incredible. We We lost our two starting tackles week for starting fullback in the best possible, but he does. And you know, we had a rock solid fullback. We had two backup tackles, and we won like four or five games with that. So you know we have guys that can play angry, deviate on every decision, And so you guys take Evangeline opportunity. You know, that's all season was last year. Every time someone went down, someone else stepped up and that's what we have to count on. Football injuries happen. So I'm not really concerned that I'm just concerned how we respond. Um, you know, And with the week I know where you were two into which you know is obviously not what we want to be Everyone a win every game. But Give me a second. I missed my exit. I'm sorry, but I I feel like I should apologize to you. That's my bad knee. Your balls I got where I was going to say every week different and this is an opportunity for us will want to know And you know,.

"Last two years, Earth was unstoppable, right? I mean, you know, in terms of in terms of he'd catch a lot of balls. He's not the playmaker the kid, but that's what I'm saying. But I'm saying why teams able to shut off the game there Hey, had non yard today will four catches That's unacceptable. Yeah, I mean, because he's not as good as George Kittle. I don't know what else till he never had a game. Why? They always have good games more pointless, but he's not like George Kittle. John George kills the best tight end Norfolk except they have 182 years, but yards is unacceptable. I Greenlee is another team's getting them out the game. We feel one and scheme and materials. That's all. We should be worried about. No, I hear you. I hear you, John. I appreciate the call. Thanks. And yeah, the eagle should have schemed. You know, I would Iike I said when I was on yesterday, I would have just put dairy slave That's what I would have done. I would have just put dairy sleigh on George Kittel and had him follow him all over the field, playing on the slide wherever and do it that way, was very slay the guys that he has covered the first four weeks. Haideri slaves been tremendous, tremendous. And I think you feel comfortable. Next. We go into Pittsburgh. Where you know you got judicial, Ms Schuster. I actually feel comfortable just putting Dari sleigh on him. Not being too worried about it was that that was crazy feeling ever remembered like being confident in the secondary or at least one player in the secondary? He's he's Easily. The best corner The Eagles have had since Asante Samuel easily and I've never felt this way with Santi Samuel. You know, I never thought I mean, it's Auntie sama was a playmaker. A guy would force turnovers and do those kind of things. He wasn't the kind of lock down player. You just let follow a top receiver all over the field. No, and I think with the Sante we kind of didn't even realized what we had until he was gone, and we suffered through the years like just trying to get somebody who is even close to as good as a Santa. Right? Yeah, I would agree with that. But no Dari sleigh has been tremendous and every bit worth the trade and the contract so far to 15592. "Receiver Chris Godwin isn't concussion protocol. George Kittle has been rolled out. George Kendall. Hi. Did you see his need bent in a really strange when he came back and finished that game in that loss against the Cardinals? He was just ruled out, so I don't think it's on your hot list. Okay. What else do we see Anything else of note? I saw it last night, The Bangles tied and CJ Zuma. Zuma has a torch Achilles. He's out for the season cold. Starting, Jack Doyle is out against the Vikings. Jamison Crowder for the Jets is out against the 40 Niners. As you mentioned Adam, the Lions have ruled out Kenny Golladay. Cornerback Desmond Trufant and guard Joe Doll. Free money Packers No tackle Kenny Clark is out for lions. I got to tell you, I think that the injury reports are lighter than I thought they'd be after one week, especially with no training camp, but

"From their peers. Friends. We all know who deported before was outstanding when he was with the cheese. How you could thank the quarterback. And bottom line is how he described his teammate. He said, kiddo is kiddo. He's a beast. He's the best blocking tight end. Best catching tight end. Best tight, Anjali hands down. Now I think why he has the edge over Travis Kelsey. Because he can run block. And Zach. I noticed place last year for George Kittle. They running behind him. You know, you might have rolled greater, remember? How would Carl Nicks and Jerry and all that you're running behind him? And you know that along the offensive line, but that was the strength. As far as tight and it was almost like a glorified tackle as far as his run blocking how they'd run behind him. So so good for kiddo, and you look at it what a great story had been one of the NFL's biggest bargains in history. He was drafted in the fifth round in 2017. Now I know I heard not now. We don't know. We got to see what he could do. It would have Adam problem returning to turn out to be a poor man's George Kittle. Considering where we crafted him already complete tight and you gotta complete game, so not Holly's going to stretch to feel Vertically and all that, But I'm interested to see because to be described that he has a complete game already. Now that date now has to do it in the NFL. But that's what separates George Kittle. It just is run blocking agents dominates people and you know that helps any running game. I know Sean Payton is aware of that. Yeah, and you know There's no question George Kittle is not just a good blocker. He's an elite blocker in the national football. You confined example, after example of him doing that, and that is not an easy thing to find. In today's game. It seems to be you are a you are a run blocking tight end or a receiving tight end. There's not a lot of guys that do both things. Obviously, you know Rob Gronkowski, the most recent Example of a guy that can do that, But he's not that player anymore. After all the injuries that he's had, so certainly I think a well deserved contract. In another big contract. I'll tell you, the San Francisco 49 for a team that went to the NFC Championship last year have made a lot of moves this offseason. A lot of guys coming and going getting guys re sign their wide receiver. Position was completely overhauled. Obviously, the Saints signing Emmanuel Sanders and Ah, you know, it was vital for them to keep George Kittle in the mix, and I think they see him as a guy. Ah, obviously that that has an elite receiver type skill set. At the position and were willing to pay for it. It's not every day you see positions highest average per year contract broken by 50%. Bobby. Yeah, that that that is unheard of. But these are unusual players. I think him and travels Kelty. To me. It's like one and 1/8 You look at Chelsea two time All pro guide. Ah, they wanted him to be around. You know, Pat Mahomes is gonna be around so they're gonna keep him I dont through through through. Ah 2025. You know, and they just coming off Super Bowl, But you just looked at the production like I'm looking at a kid all right on the 3000 yard receiving over the past five seasons, the most by any tight in league history. And during that same time frame, and a kettle is right there with him. You know, he's that in 2018 he broke the NFL record for most sharks receiving in a season. That being kid all right on the 1400 So you got travels, Kelsey and and George. Today it is. If Travis Kelsey are George Kittle had a chance to play for the state. I think Mikula would have no problem paying them. Those guys around 50 million Yeah, I don't think that he would. They're certainly worth and I also think it's worth noting. You know, the Kansas City Chiefs in a year that they went ah, in just March had $171 in cap space. Have since been able to sign Patrick Mahomes to the largest contract in American sports history, Chris Jones to one of the top defensive line contracts in in NFL history. And now Travis Kelsey to the second most that tight end has ever been paid in history. And you know more examples of how the cap can be manipulated. Look, no. Yes, That's what I was gonna exact faded again, not 171,000. 100 and $71. If you think that's like what Bilson contract contract That's the type of accounting. We wish we could all do write. Don't you wish you could stretch 171? Dollars in tow. 800 million in contracts, right Right, Right. Well, Mickey Loomis has always done a great job with that. Whether you gotta pay the Piper eventually. But look how he's manipulated the camp because we've heard in pass off the ISO. Whatever this thing is going to do they have no tax cap speech. But maybe the Chiefs of Learning self from Mickey Loomis in his playbook. And listen. A lot of this also had to do with Patrick Mahomes. Um, in his contract as much is the total value of that contract was worth Tio put into perspective. Just how much money Patrick Mahomes allowed the team to move to the back end of his contract. Over the next three years. Patrick Mahomes is going to be making less money than Teddy Bridgewater. Well, I think I know what that's shocking. That shocking. Exactly Would you know what I think the whole look of stability? And he likes they got going on with the cheese. And you know a lot of people. Well, I thought he should You know, Senator Tenure review A five year deal on still could have been rewarded. But I guess he looked at that security. You don't have to worry about He knows he has 150 million guaranteed. So I think we all could do a lot with 150 million guaranteed. You could be a free spirit and they just play. And so I think he took that stability of their guarantee versus maybe You know, cutting that deal in half and, you know, ultimately stated that instead of 150 million guaranteed, he could've got 2 50 But but it's still the stability. I think that's why he did that. He will not Bobby make more money, then Joey Bosa after his contract until the fifth season of that contract. It's just It's just interesting. What they were able Andi how they were able to get javelins under contract. Will you get 102 100 guarantee His contract was 135 million. I believe in guarantees. It was upwards of 80 Which is substantially more than what Patrick Holmes was it signing. So you know, again, I think the more you go and look into that contract. Obviously, Patrick Mahomes finishes that contracts a whole lot of money. Andi and obviously the contract that he wanted to sign and felt comfortable signing, But I can assure you there was a lot of money left on the table for you..

"And with George Kittle. That's why it's so valuable right? The guy runs a 45 city still blocks like an offensive tackle. That's why his agent said. He's a unicorn, and I think that's why his agents right What an interesting concept position Lis skill position players. Just the thought of that is quite intriguing talking to David Lombardi talking about the Niners with David of the athletic. He's joining us here on the Tolbert Kruger. And Brooks show. Ah, do you know the Niner that tested positive for the Corona virus? And if you do Is it a name that would make people go? I can't speak about that. We have a pretty strict company policy saw to the next question. Do you know what not a problem of about that, uncle? Definitely unprecedented times. But other times I will be taking home party formerly of the athletic joins us. Yeah, I could definitely respect that note. No doubt. No doubt about it. I do find it interesting that you still sparring with people about the relative value of Jimmy Garoppolo. We're still doing that. And you know, in July of 2020 we're still having this conversation about whether Jimmy Garoppolo is that dude. I just I just wish people would would look at it. I guess it's impossible because people are attached names and star power. But I think that I think that for whatever reason, he's not graded by the same standard as other quarterbacks and my don't. Maybe Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have earned it or whatever, but who cares? Who's earned it? We're trying to evaluate who's going to be better in 2020 in it, And if you're you're you're relying on what Tom Brady it in 2007. Make decisions running your franchise now are relying on what Aaron Rodgers did in 2011. They're not going to be a good team in 2020. You have to use the reality as it is now and You know, it's also been there's been more free time and off season. I think people are Trying to create drama create narratives. And so every time you see something, you can't want to engage the fans and a discussion. I mean, that's what it's all about. Right? You get on Twitter and the comments section All the sports bars are closed right now. So that's where all the sports bar like discussions there gonna happen. It's like you, Steve. Steve Young before her, Steve one bowl, right? I mean, everybody liked him, but it was like, you know, Win something. Then he wants something he had scoreboard than everybody really embraced him. I think I think the same thing's gonna happen to Jimmy here. If he gets that ring, he climbs that mountain. He'll be forever embraced and remembered if Anything short of that, though they're going to put him in a different category and just think that's kind of the standard in this organization. I hope we get camp. I don't know if we're gonna get camp. I hope we you know, it sounds like we get to less preseason games, Dave, but I love the piece that you did on the tight end from Georgia, Charlie Warner. To me. There's too tight ends. I think it would be really interesting to look at this summer outside a Kittle. It's this Kid Warner and you've got a quote here from his high school coach, the Rayburn County High School coach Lee Shaw. And he says he's a diamond in the rough when it comes to developing into what I feel could be another rob Gronkowski type player for somebody in the league. I mean, that is that's a tall Too tall comp there for for Werner, But if you watch this film, he's exciting blows people off the ball. And then this undrafted free agent out of Arkansas Chase heroines 64 to 50 and ran in the 45 I mean that those air George kiddo like measurables. I'm eager to see both those guys if and when we get a get a preseason Yeah, that was one spot where this offenses than a little bit lacking. Shanahan really wants to get receiving production out of it. Back up tight end spot or the blocking tight end spot I should say, And that goes right back to where we were talking about earlier in the position was stuff. You know the 40 Niners up Until this point. I've had a very dedicated, run blocking and occasionally pass blocking tight and who wasn't too much of a receiving threats. Last year was a living toy Lolo, and that's where the whole cell if time thing came because guarantee Alec was supposed to be a blocker. But then all of a sudden he started ripping off huge plays through That December a couple of years ago. So Shanahan came up with with Selic time and ever. Everybody bought into It is like a celebration of something unusual coming from that position. So 40 Niners want to make that. Unusual out of the blocking tight end spot. I think well, being total only caught one or two passes last year. So when you look at Harold, when you look at Warner Those air. Both guys, you know, with very athletic backgrounds who, obviously Khun Block. That's why they were drafted. But I think the 40 Niners see way more upside athletically, then potentially in the receiving game. They can develop that they didn't previously have with. You know those blows blocking specialists that you normally bring in on a one year contract, So you know it's it's a lost the aspiration to say. You wanna have what the Patriots did a few years ago with the two star tight end set, but you already have one of them. And if you will get asked what Gronkowski gave the Patriots From that blocking spot. Uh, all of a sudden we're talking again. We're talking about Ah, an offense that is so dynamic. And so you know, position, listen away, that it's gonna be really hard to guard. The F one isn't a stone cold murder. I'm all for it. I love tight ends. They They could be dynamic, Are we? Ah, is the four preseason Ah Game era gone the way of the dinosaur. We dis kind of ex celebrated whatever he thought would what happened? Go to and then try to get to 18 regular season games. I hope so..

ball he can play Alanis courage you can rush the passer are you sure all of that during the practice week so the cool thing was during the week this this your guys we we we we voted on our practice player the week we had that we have the players do it and I I felt like that meant a lot more to them that it came from their peers and and we really have to position group they went against the most during the week so line voted on the line no corners vote in a white out invites versus so I posted those on our on our Twitter and everything so everyone could see those entry now going back to watch the tape I think the players really got it right we love talking about quarterbacks it really is never too early to start stacking your board will who stood out to you the most in a jail it hurts is obviously the big name coming into the week but by the end of the week where do you I guess you're one through three who should we be looking at that position what are your according Jaylen with it was a big name come in a week if you the big week all week you know just from is tied to the state of Alabama with our game beautiful Beale everything it up did up in Tuscaloosa I DO and had a really strong week he really did you got better you know you got better as the week went on kind of like Daniel Jones did last year Justin Herbert what the overall practice player of the week again voted on by the players that that he was the game MVP as well so just in case a minute really he lit up every day he's got everything you need the big very intelligent death politic you got a strong arm he was accurate all week in really what he showed behind the scenes with the answer a lot of questions that people might have about the leadership and I I don't know why they were questions out there about that but the time Justin he's got a he's got a really good way about him teammates really responded to him all week we put him in a bunch of different situations where you have to show that leadership he just to be just a great kid I got a talking to dad they they did a great job with this on it it made me think yet enjoyed love would be the other one throw that grow in that mix and their direct your junior from Utah state who really talented really natural thrower you know do a great ball all week we just they were so far we've just gone through the one on one at that and a little bit of the team here at seventeen got to the game yet but but Jordan had a really strong week and then in the game entity Gordon for Washington state but the offer the player the game for his side you know he was backed up Gardner Menchu last year in Washington state if you've gotten sandlot look them up all or two and then you get the game to do just make things happen so many did that on Saturday the other quarterback group is really strong this year Jim nagging at the senior bowl director here with us on it pretty fits image on ESPN radio according Cronin infer Freddy I mean if it's Simmons and an elaborate a little bit more on Jordan love because talking to a tech coach Gary Andersen a Utah state he likened him to possibly when it comes to do the draft stock the next to Josh Alan where his stock could skyrocket during Super Bowl week DD do you agree with that do you think he had that kind of a week yes interval week but I got you here right coach any any any you know he's but he's wanted a lot of places and I think that your Jordan came into the year with a really high expectations there was a lot of media types that first round great Doug Jordan enter in sort of the league so that we you know him being a junior graduate are fortunate enough to get him and he didn't have the kind of the year that that maybe a lot of people expected at Utah state I think the no the coaching change you know at definitely had something to do with it it's it's hard it's hard runner whose game the first year that's why what Joe burrow did with Joe Brady coming in for the St Louis with you know even more impressive like I don't think Joe burrows got enough credit for that he was running a scheme for the first time but you know in Jordan I think Jordan might've been feeling the expectations of of the first round step two we don't have a chance to really talk about that when he came down to mobile last week but but the judge with the Josh our comparison it is a very good one you know Josh was the guy that statistically didn't have a great last year while making that came down to to your call and let it up but we all know how that turned out he went seventh overall so could Jordan get back up in the top ten I mean I I don't know that I mean that's that's pretty lofty but he did he did everything you could do down here you such a natural pro respond watch all week so it'll just be like you're the profits worry and up but I do think it's gonna be a starter at the next level one of my favorite assignments that we do every year at the senior bowl from ESPN will go around and ask outs kind of for their take on what they're seeing it practice and since it is Superbowl week it's always fun to hear the comparisons to guys were being you are playing in the game currently it in Harrison Bryant from Florida Atlantic one of our so you know one of our reporters ask out and he said quote he can beat George cattle two point now do you see that sort of comparison you know here so it's really good the past game it really is I mean Kittles kills really developed in a such a good blocker into get Georgia's coming out of that I will program where they used the tide and a lot of a lot of scrimmage though this from a background standpoint here isn't going to be a little bit behind for work short was coming out in any not quite as big a body of George kill but in the past can definitely you know higher than what the Mackey award for a reason because he can you know he's really good after the cat he's he's really athletic you catch the ball it is really good after the catch in which you didn't really see it after you he didn't run a whole you know he did run a a lot of it run a lot of different routes and that's what the that's what the scalp got that the that this week in mobile was with him running all those route that is going to have to do with the next level and his ability to separate get open yeah I mean I think you're the couple tied into this year's group Paris and be in one of them you know a guy Bryson Hopkins from Purdue had a great week out and drop in a small school player gate and had a great week I think I think those three guys might be the you know the first three cat up the board this year what is the deepest position group that you have observed so far you know it's probably what out in again a lot of it has to do with the junior class is really strong at the top with jury duty he Nick in the engine all from Colorado I mean there's a lot of good ones but the senior class is loaded you know we had with a guy come to mobile and it is a little banged up when he got here so we had to you know he didn't pass the physical but Brandon are you calling from Arizona state is a really explosive guy I think he's going to go in the first round and then all those names I mentioned before you know it getting including those K. J. hill mile state with the guy that was voted Platt practice clear the week from his side of it from inside of the team so then it is wide receiver crew it's all going to depend on where that run happens you know I think there's teams that are probably feel like they've got it well enough where they can wait to the third or fourth round and get a starter you know maybe hit on the next Terry McLaurin who is in the funeral last year when the third round it as you guys know how to add an unbelievable you rookie year for for the Redskins so but it you know how many first rounder that'll just be you know when they start going they start calling everyone kind of panic that it it starts taking them so depending on when their run goes it'll be interesting but there's a bunch of first round talent type receivers Mr strapped Reese's senior bowl director four time Super Bowl champion Jim Nagy here with us on ESPN radio Corning Corning ami AMP at Simmons and let's get to the Superbowl you you watch that game also as much as anybody and you scouted take us

Ghost in the machines You don't have noticed about Miami is there's in the Miami beat everywhere you go like. If you eat outside a restaurant the soundtrack that's playing always has the exact same beat no matter what song it is and it's only Miami. AM is doomed to students that one. It'll be everywhere. It's going crazy by the end of the week. You're also when you're in Miami. You're never more than like twenty. I five feet away from a choice. Turquoise or pink t-shirt by one at any point if you just stumble out of bed and walked twenty five feet in any direction you will be able to buy a pink electric Miami shirt or white pants. I'M GONNA get some white pants this week. We ought to be the best city for Super Bowl. ooh I would say yes or New Orleans I'm talking shit about the. NFL Logo redesigns for the Super Bowls. Last last week because they they lost all creativity about what a ten years ago there has been some fire. NFL League Super Bowl. Merchandise that I've seen already with the the Miami colors and stuff on it. I'm going to probably purchase. Like stiffer. Expects Alternate asked me if I went to the Super Bowl Miami. Yeah I'M GONNA I'm GonNa wear the shirts and I'm going to continue to wear them for years and years and years. That's the saddest thing is seeing somebody wearing a standard Super Bowl forty four. The shirt is out in the wild somewhere. Yeah it's like it's laundry day I get it. Yeah it's like did you go to the game. Oh yeah okay. Cool and it's not even the teams is just just the League league. It's like hey we printed this shirt well before we knew that there were two teams playing in this game. Yeah we just knew the Super Bowl was going to be here and it's bigger than the sport all right right. Let's do who's back there. which is going to brush past the big news of the day? The pro bowl. Oh Yeah proble happened yes. AFC won the wow. I didn't know that over over over thirty eight thirty three new the overhead and I had talking pro bowl and no one got hurt and kirk cousins threw an interception on the very the first onsides fourth and fifteen. Oh so they tried out of Mike is that a Michael Moore tried out to Mike. Florio rule the you you get one passing down where it's fourth and fifteen and you try to make a first down on instead of an onside kick in Kirk cousins through that interstate's a great rule by the way they should absolutely implement and they should have kirk cousins. Play play quarterback quarterback everywhere actually. Just have him in New York. NGOs run it against like a scout team. They'll still throw it against the tackling dummies from Princeton instance just glide around the field kirk cousins. All right let's do. WHO's back then we're going to get We have George cadle. Greg kittle on the show and then we'll finish with Awesome highlights of Kobe Bryant. Hank who's back my who's back of the week is just unverified. Bad boy twitter accounts you mentioned earlier right away when you say that bears. There's no I mean you are verified unverified bad but you mentioned that the bears twitter account got hacked. which and it reminded me because we got an email last week being like? Oh you know if you WanNa verified like let us oh and I was like absolutely not but if you're going to get hacked and you're going to be verified there's no point and just feels it just feels good emailed when that email comes around and I sometimes want to email and be like hey unverified me because I feel slightly like less of a man when I'm around you to unverified battles but I gave much away. I told twitter showed up. You're never gonNA Check Jack. Will you ever get a chance. I had to check. No I know. We've got to get a check though like Willie may may okay once. We'll see unverified now. Now that I'm professional athlete I feel like you have to have that. That will be yourself no no because if you become like a minor league pitcher drafted in the seventieth round for some reason they still give you a blue check mark on twitter. I feel like the new part of the part of the big cat. If you I have to I've checkmark to help people with airlines. Pfc of you blue checkmark that will be your official Solo. Listen if they give it to me. That's that's on them. I read it back. Give it back go all right so they give it to you. You're going to give it back. I might not. I don't know well I'm GonNa try this one on C outfits for awhile. What do you mean getting one? No I'm saying if I get one sound like you you to ask for. No I'm saying if I get one I'm GonNa try it on do you do. They just randomly give them out anymore. I have no it. I think everyone gets into blue checkmark now at one point the email we were like all you you have to do is reply to this email. Yes we'll give mark and I was like faulk. No Yes ben reply because they they actually was just saying if you reply to this email will give you one all right well. I'm just saying the day that you get a blue checkmark will be the saddest. I'm not going to lie. I am not going to let you bully preemptively into giving away my job because I know. Oh that's what's going on right now. I just I hope that if you get a blue check mark it was given to randomly not the US the XFL. Probably you asked for one. That will be the saddest if the XFL XFL reach out and said Hey we're giving them to all our players and then I say okay all right well then that's fair if you randomly get one and that's different but if you ask for one I'm going to be very your who's back also Jumping off that XFL thing. I don't think we discussed this on Thursday. You can watch the video video of my trial and everything. It's online right now Did Not make that team. Obviously but the practice squad offer is apparently legit. Like I'm going to get a contract if I if I want to go down that road. Fuck him in which case. I'm only going down that road if they give me an opportunity to work my way onto team. I'm not just going to be on crack squad but but the dreams not done drain see what you're doing vince. McMahon I don't like the dreams in limbo not going to stand worst case scenario. Your boy just gets in really really good shape because he's training know worse case scenarios. They hold my boy in limbo and then we are silenced by the XFL because you're technically on a practice fast forward Eight weeks from now. I'm in the best shape of my life. I've got a six pack and a blue checkmark is going to be mighty different show. Yeah that's the biggest sell out. That sucks My real who's back of the week is bracing Decem. Slow Pricing Shlo- Bryson. I got in trouble. He got put on the clock this weekend by the PGA tour. They actually had to warn him. They said Bryson your plan to slow this golf and I think it was just just last week that Bush and blow said that he welcomes fuck fat rules of fast play. Well good thank you. Welcome it because they had a guy stand behind you stop watching his hand your entire round of golf this weekend. Got Super Upset that everyone made fun of them after Brooks Don Don. I'm sorry don't get dunked on don't get dunked on don't hey how about don't go Brooks Brooks Dunk on. Go pick the ball up out of the ocean yeah words. US Women's team. He's he does like the compass and the he he does like all the math laugh behind his shots. Just go out and shoot the ball dude. Maybe if you stop thinking about it you'd be like Brooks and winch it. He's the mad scientist rate. That yeah you worry too much about angles. That's why he's Matt Perks. Because Brooks doesn't eat brooks turns his brain off. He literally blacks out when he wins championships. And you can't you you do all your math in your Algebra. Did you brought in your other visits Algebra sabermetrics Calculus Calculus. What I was looking for? We're math guys. Listen there's a reason. Einstein Never WanNa grand jacket it right. What's that class and none of us took calculus trigonometry? I think did trigonometry. trigonometry was you had to do trigonometry right. I definitely we did not do trigonometry calculus in college and I literally walked out never go I will never classroom again on. Well said the the the grading this on occur on a steep curve where only like ten percent of you get nine. I was like he's not going to be me. Yeah I'm altered ever tell you about the only math class I ever took in college. No I'm so bad at math. I took a class called environmental mathematics. The class was it was one problem it was it was like if you have have two hundred penguins on this one iceberg and every year five percent of them die due to old morning but they put they reproduce at a rate of seven percent per year. How many penguins will you have in four years so there was that question? Oh Shit then. Once we'd solve it next week's lesson would be the exact same question except except to be like their seventeen hundred cariboo British Columbia Diet of percents They just kept changing the species that we had talks. It was obviously the the easiest math class I've ever taken. I can't figure out that first question. Fourteen yeah actually. That's correct fourteen the first year. It's a trick question because global warming. They're all dead MHM They're all just drinking out of their coke cans and sitting on icebergs float in the middle of the other pole north. It's it's pretty. It's shockingly we never talked this show. We'll talk about talk about talk about it so this is all right. Let me set the scene because my who's back as coach. Oh he got the big contract so he's going to be at Lsu for very long time well done coach. Oh you deserve it but speaking of Lsu before the National Championship there was a tweet that said rooting for Lsu here from this way talk and they were wearing. Maybe what you guys who was exe. Shell jacket that was zippered. Lady was in like a a white long sleeved shirt. Yeah in an art deco the tweet I did I tweeted in support of Lsu and I was like insupportable seems seems a little light white winter gear for an Arctic. And I've never. We're probably my lifeguard ratio so hard but like you fucking idiot like it's. It's the summer in Antarctica. And in my head I was like I was always taught that Antarctica was just always freezing. No one lives there. It's a continent that no one lives on because it's all ice so yeah. I assumed that it was always cold. Like people in ever go there. There's no houses there to go vacationing vacationing their when their people. Were like Whoa. It's summer in our Toco like for those people just summering in Antarctica. Hey that's where the predators all live to. Did you ever see that movie you guys I can underground colony of yeah in in the in the summertime. It's they're like December January. That's their summer and so it's just like it. Tilts closer towards the Sun by the way that makes sense. You got some ricochet shots on ally should just fade into oblivion and people a lot. A lot of people were like. I'd expect out of the Hank but not you big cat because you listening are idiots. Yeah you know that I will never say that about ashamed. Antarctica is always down there but it should put.

"I screwed that one up sorry But like you you you read the font and you just assume it's like some trashy inconsequential headline right and then when it says something of the magnitude of like Like prince died or Kobe Bryant just past helicopter accident. It's like there's there's no way that this organization worse right so you spend the next five minutes hoping hoping that they screwed it all house and then a couple got hacked and you're like hey you got hacked and this is a story. They wanted to run. And then there's twitter account got hacked and pretended they were good for second. Yeah would that very clearly not the bears and then you you had the second wave of news coming out which was like just bad reporting about whether or not his kids were on board just contradictory reports although it was like a roller coaster of emotions trying to figure out what the hell was going on. And after you're done going through that as as someone someone who's reading the news then you get the third wave which is news. Reporters telling professional athletes live on the air. What happened happen and seeing their reaction? It's like I can deal with all that stuff I don't need to see like I. This wasn't intentional but cash Winston at Michigan State Tommaso told them about Kogas crash live on TV and you saw his reaction and watching other people go through it. It's it's just as bad as when you just went through it. It brings up so many emotions like I don't WanNa see any of that but that's you know like those clips I actually. I don't enjoy seeing them because it's a a tragedy but it makes you realize how important he was to so many people in the fact that he is a guy who's been retired for however many years three or four years and he's still means something to college players and like you see even The rivals of his rival teams his rival franchises all being affected by like that's what Kobe Bryant was the point. I made earlier that like even if you were his rival you respected him and to see all these people be affected by it. You realize Holy Shit. This guy means so much to so many people and it was just a crazy. I mean it's just crazy crazy sad. It's really like there's nothing really you can say other than it's tragic and it's sad and I Yeah Gut Punch. I think should've cancelled until the game. Stay because of what he meant. Everyone in the league. It seemed like Kobe had some sort of influence on every single team. Like all the all these kids obviously grown up who are in the NBA. Now wash from growing up but beyond that I'm not talking about just like them watching him play throughout the years. I'm saying like he had so many friends in so many people that he was Actively engaged in the day to day life on every single team in this league that it seemed like it was. I don't know if they panicked and didn't know how it'd be possible possible to to everything off logistically but it felt like one of those things where the the whole league was like sleepwalking. Just trying to get through the end of the day because they were rightfully you know like you said hitting the gut by this. Yeah so I don't know I mean it's a very weird way to start to roll week. Were here in Miami Emme We act like the news broke while we were in the on the plane in the middle of the air and it was like what the faulk so yeah I mean. It's GONNA be weird for a couple days. I'd say I don't really know all the all the fans out there that are tweeting. Like as a Celtics Fan let me say as a six. Even though I'm a sixers fan yeah I still still feel bad for his family. You can just run out. I had I had some pretty bad timing. I debuted a new character. That's not going to ever come back. Laker Dan on Saturday. Night when the Bron- which is crazy Lebron Pass Koby all time points last night and I was having fun with Kobe fans and now everyone's like like all that that each poorly. This was going to happen. Like what the fuck. This is a tragedy like so incredibly sad and then you're upset about a joke. I made on Saturday night. We have to find somebody in a senseless tragedy. You have to find somebody to be mad. Ebtekar Dan is the gun. Glad that you were able to provide that outlet for so many gone forever and it was is gonNA come back every now and then he's gone forever so rest assured that's that is officially retired. I'll say this about it was one and done you. The one thing that you indefinitely say about Kobe Bryant is he was so so polarized. He made people feel so strongly one way or the other about him that he inspired total strangers to try to drive an hour each side each other on Christmas Day just based off one person saying that he wasn't good. I jokingly again this name another athlete Tech Inspire that that sort of man to man combat again. It was Saturday night so this was well before jokingly said Lebron James is the number one leaker of all time which if you can't I told them fucking joke. Whatever I had people threaten my life and I was like you know what respect is? You're just standing up for your man. I love that like that's what you do. You stand up for your man All right let's let's try to move on. We have. We are in Miami. We are in Miami delay. Let me do A quick ad read and then we'll we'll try to move on again. We're going to put in some of the Kobe interview clips from the corporate or view which was fantastic. You should go listen to it. It's the most intense person I've ever interviewed and it was so intimidating but so awesome at the same time because he is one of those you know he was one of those like larger larger than life. People all right so we're here in Miami and we are brought to.

How Would Higher U.S. Tariffs on China Affect American Consumers?

"Me early this morning. President Trump was on Twitter claiming falsely that the tariffs on Chinese imports are being paid by China. He wrote tariffs are now being paid to the United States by China of twenty five percent that is not how this actually works. So to help us understand the nuts and bolts of how Harris are paid. We're joined by Howard Glickman. He's a senior fellow at the urban Brookings tax policy center. Welcome. Hi, okay. So imagine that a container full of Chinese made bicycle parts lease China tomorrow and takes a couple of weeks across the ocean and arrives at let's say a port in Los Angeles. What happens then with these tariffs? So the one thing that doesn't happen is the Chinese government doesn't pay. The tara. What does happen is the importer has to pay for those goods at the port of entry those goods are then released and. The importer can then do whatever he does with them keep them himself or sell them to another user in the United States. But essentially that importers required to pay customs duty at the port of entry before those goods are released to him. Okay. So the American importer is writing the check to the US government is that actually money going into the treasury's coffers. Yes, it is. Absolutely. So if the American company buying the Chinese goods has to pay the tariff, can they turn to the Chinese apply and say, look, I'm paying twenty five percent extra for your bicycle parts? Give me a discount on the purchase price. They can try. It depends on what the product is in it depends. If there's a competitive product out there that the importer can substitute for the Chinese product, in some cases, they can in some cases, they can't earlier today on morning edition. We heard from a man who owns a furniture business. His name is Jim Kittle. He said that when the tariffs were ten percent, he and his Chinese supplier split the added costs, but that won't work. Now, the vendor is no longer going to be able to take any more. The retailer is not point to be able to absorb it. Because right now retailers at best marginally profitable Furniture's, though different. How do you respond to that? What do you expect to happen? I think that's right. So I think the shine east company may do is look for a buyer somewhere else. Maybe they'll sell it for neutral to a buyer in Europe or in Singapore. They can find other buyers to remember we're are not the only consumer of Chinese goods in the world were a big consumer of Chinese good. But we're not the only way this also gets complicated. Talking about things simple like like a bicycle parts or furniture. But also be imposed on what are called intermediate goods the parts that go into manufacturing bigger products. And there you had these supply chains, which are very complicated. You may have a particular screw or particular other piece of equipment that really only fits a larger piece of equipment that comes from China, and it may take months or more for the manufacturer in the United States, find another supplier for that part. So when you're talking about pieces of equipment or other other materials are innocent. Supply chain, it gets even more complicated. Much more difficult for the American manufacturer to find a replacement for that Chinese good. The president has threatened to impose more tariffs on goods like shoes and clothing might consumers a little more directly. Would you expect to see companies right now stocking up on those kinds of items to try to beat the higher cost of the fact that the president has been threatening? These tariffs has been known for months and months, and I suspect there are probably some American retailers that knew this was coming and probably happened

New Round Of Tariffs Takes A Bigger Bite Of Consumers' Budget

"The price of stuff lots of stuff from canoes to floor lamps to bicycles went up literally overnight last night. In fact, the Trump administration raise tariffs on two hundred billion dollars worth of imported Chinese products. The US and China are in trade talks this week. But so far no deal. NPR's? Yuki Noguchi has the story. Jim Kittles family furniture business is operated throughout Indiana. For nearly nine decades started my grandfather's by father, what kinds of things do you carry on your shop floor that room biting OBE living room? Occasional table kills furniture. We'll have to reprise new shipments of all kinds of furniture from nightstands to love seats. The new tariffs increased from ten to twenty five percent raising the underlying cost of Chinese-made items. What percent of the stuff that you have on the floor. Would you say is affected by the tariff? I think about thirty percent but much of the remaining seventy percent of goods are also affected much like automobiles. Parts of those goods are produced offshore summit. China kills been through this before last September a ten percent tariff took effect back then kindle, and his Chinese suppliers agreed to absorb most of that the cost of consumers only increased three percent this time around his suppliers. Can't afford to do that a neither can kill or other retailers. The vendor is no longer going to be able to take any more. The retailer is not going to be able to absorb it. Because right now retailers are at best marginally profitable Furniture's, though, different. Existing tariffs are already making life more expensive. 2019 NFL Draft prospects

"We're about three weeks from the NFL draft. It's been an interesting off season. If you were bears fan last season. It was interesting the bears gone out and done a lot of things this off-season than to talk about that and much much more. We bring in our guy NFL writer, Eric at home. Nice enough to jump on and Eric tonight. Everything's good. Yeah. It was just thinking these last three weeks for the drafter get a feel like any turn into here that always does every single year seems like it takes a long time here in Chicago. We've always been interested in the draft. Because usually the bears were bad a high draft pick. And now they were smart last year and traded pigs got gotta Khalil Mack. And now they've not picking until the third round unless they make a move. But I mean, I think it seems like all their other moves have been in you know, in free agency and bringing. Players in. So it's not nearly the draft excitement here in Chicago. Like, it was when just imagine if the draft was here, and it was no bears draft pick for you know, for the first day and a half down. Admit what difficult I think it would be legal to do that. The office. Like, let's about this. The bears probably will make their selection around nine o'clock. I think on Friday night. So you settle in. You know, maybe, you know, get some food get something to eat whatever it's going to be a while. I don't think they'll be moving up. They don't have a lot of picks. So yeah, it's gotta be patience is virtue for bears fans outside of kicker because kickers not real answer. When you talk about to what's the biggest need for the bears. Hang into the draft. It's a great question. You know, I think it probably, you know, I think what they did themselves. A lot of a good favor by refunding airless, you know, and just you know for a one year deal. Right. We know he's the third outside guy. But still it just eliminated one spot that you have to kinda reach four and not reach four. But you know, have to hope that somebody is at that position waiting for you in the draft. So it probably slimmed down to two maybe three or four positions. I would think running back has to be on that list. You know, I personally would like to see. Them. Get more death on the offense of line. And I think the secondary either corner or safety would be a spot they can look at and their few defensive action, the strap that I think could play, you know, cover the flight and also places safety. So there's some versatile guys in this great year for either position a corner safety, but it's deep enough where they could possibly get somebody there. So I would just, you know, spit balling kinda Dr throwing I would say those it's likely that they could be picking one of those three spots that eighty seven toys have you ever seen as I'm asking the question. I know we've all seen it. But have you? I was gonna ask you if you've seen the situation where teams running back like Jordan Howard performed relatively well and was light by many people. And but basically the head coach had no use form at this point. And that's why they ended up moving them. Yeah. I mean, obviously, totally different situation from what happened with Levy on bell. You know, those are the exceptions to the rule, but you know, it is one of those. Position where if you're not one of the elite top, you know, five or six guys in the league at your spot. You know, there's only so much teams willing to kind of sink into that dishing. I know that there have been back strapped in the top. You know, five ten picks several years, it's not gonna have this year. But it's happened. A lot in recent history or often more often than I would've expected. I know Todd Gurley got his big deal. I know other people have gotten pretty good money. That's dishing bell sign this off season. But there's a drop off, you know. And so I think if you're not special, you know, that maybe are deemed expendable depending on the system. And so you know, I can see both sides why they moved on. And I think they feel like with Mike Davis Torri Cohen, they add one more the draft. You know, maybe Ryan dollars trading Kampe preseason hero again or something like that. But you know, we'll see I think they will try to add at least one more. And then maybe an underrated free agent to add on top of that. Daryl. Patterson is. Is an interesting guy. But he's been an interesting guys come into the league. Other people have found out ways to use them and the patriots even lined him up in the backfield as a running back. Do you expect Matt Nagy to do that? Also, not only just swing passes and give them in and around and things like that. And also given the ball out of the running back position. Yeah. It's a great option. I think you know, the patriots really the first team to really unlocked at running ability. I mean like you said when he was in Oakland, you know, other places he was running those kind of gadget runs and things like that. But I mean, they line them up as a tailback and got buffalo game was it was crazy to watch. He had twenty something carries. And so, yeah, it was it was a strange thing to think about you know, a six to two hundred twenty pound receiver who could run like the wind lining up kind of power back. But he can do it. I think that really added to the appeal. He's the perfect Matt Nagy player. They'll run kick off, you know, he could be a wide receiver if you need to. I don't think he's more than. A number four. But still, you know, having that deeper out option is important. And I think that's you know, that kinda speed if Taylor Gabriel is out there, they may not have that exact replica that so it's different version of speed. And then as you said we saw last year that he can be running back, you know, in cut a break glass in case for -mergency situation. Seahawks quarterback. Russell Wilson wants a new deal. He gave the Seahawks April fifteenth as a deadline to get that deal done. Do you think he gets done in what type of deal? Do you think Russell Wilson who get from the Seahawks? So here's my hypothetical question here. Like what they let's say if April sixteenth by parents diversity, by the way. Let's. Let's say April sixteenth. They offer him. The richest TV deal of all time. You're gonna say oh sorry. The deadline. Hey, understand that this thing happened in January. We didn't really hear about it until very recently. But meeting his, you know, giving them a deadline, but you know, it just doesn't make a lot of stints. It's not a if something magical happens on that calendar day, not as some kind of contract, you know, bonus kicks in or anything else that would prevent them from getting this thing done, or if there's some kind of you know, league deadline or something like that. It's not July fifteenth and the franchise player, so it's just one of those kind of subtle threats from the from the Wilson camp saying, hey, don't forget about me, baby. You know, I still want to get my deal. I still want to get this thing done. You know, there's an opportunity for him to really cash in. And also kind of hold them hostage a little bit. I suspect it there's a good chance that gets done. But for months now there have been whispers that you know, maybe the Seahawks aren't quite prepared to pay him. What what a lot of people think he's worth it would at least entertain the idea of. What could we get you know, trade for him? Just theoretically, what would he get you know, is worth three first Thursay? We're still talking about a thirty thirty one year old guy. And there's still a handful of teams that really badly need that franchise different speaking quarterback. So I I don't know. I still think it's gonna get done 'cause that's city loves them. Even if a lot of past teammates were the biggest Russell Wilson fan. They know how much he means for the team another couple minutes with NFL writer, Eric at home and Erica week or so ago, rob gronkowski decided to retire. A lot of people on Twitter and everywhere else going, okay. The best tight end. Maybe you'll ever play the game has retired. Who's the best tight end in the NFL? Now who do you like? Yeah. I mean, that's a great question. To kinda depends what you want. So if you guys can do with grunk did which is being impact players blocker, and as receiver, you know. And and think about all the calls that were made against gronk over the years. He was kinda like the Cam Newton of the tight end position like say what that's not interference. Though, he just, you know, even with that work in Gascony was so special. I love the fact that Travis Kelsey can be as dangerous, you know, the last couple of years he's actually been a better receiver than gronk. No question about it. But he's not nearly the blocker that he is. You know, we see some of these young pass catching tight. I mean, George Kittle out in San Francisco at times has flashed like he could be the best to way tight in the league because he blocks his tail off. He's got great receiving chops. And really the only thing that's kind of held them back injuries. I don't necessarily think you can have a long career. So this might be one of those debate that we kinda have for years. I don't think there's any one guy that fills that checked off all the boxes like like gronk did. And he had injury issues too. But still when he was out there. There's really no doubt. And I don't know that that that one guy even though there are some great blockers. It's about staying receivers you rarely see both. Do you think that Jason Witten can still be productive? I don't know man this. I wanted to I know Jason Witten the player, it was outstanding. He was just so consistent day in and day. I knew what you're going to get from. He was probably, you know, he was unsexy version of gronk and that he could block and catch fast but a year off his age. I know they say they're going to come in just and all that. His feeling this thing could kind of turn south, and we could see 'cause he looked slow by the end when he was out there last time. He just wasn't the same guy. Eric, we appreciate jumping for few minutes. We'll hopefully those go to slow the next couple of weeks. We'll talk to you soon. All right. Enjoy the run up to the draft guys. Thanks. They got home jumping on talking NFL. Like Whitten wasn't good at the end. Then like fancy players, look like, wait. Hold on. Really? Like, what is she some Witten really gonna bring to the Cowboys? Here's a guy wanted to bring up to you. Because this is a guy that I thought when he got to the NFL was going to have a bigger impact than he's head and OJ Howard at the tight end. Okay. Because what we saw in college. We thought. Okay. The when this guy gets here Dowd using is just because the quarterback situation and the problems have had do you think he can still become a dominant tight end in this league? Maybe because he did it in college. And you assume that that body type in his speed is is ability to get down field. And you know, James Winstons been not very good. No. And I think a lot of people misread what Tampa Bay is doing. I don't think he's there for the long haul. I think Tampa Bay if they could find someone else to be their quarterback. They would go with that person. Yeah. So whether or not it's trying to find a quarterback in this year's draft. Or or or planning for the future? Elsewhere. But like I don't trust him as Winston do.

"All just goes. Downs. One way out. Should just be trying to hop on helicopters now because you heard somebody died. Now for me. I'm good right now. But you know, until death so death do them part. That's a shame man that sucks so bad because this really good people to pay for a helicopter. It'd probably do pretty well, let's assume and then just on their wedding day. I love you love you. Well, I saw you posted that plane today that was trying to land. And then it hit the car and the wheels off those people alive. Yeah. Okay. Good little of their videos. Did you see that? We got iota that one horse video. They're still they're still. Yeah. Conflicting reports on that. There's one person at tween assess my cousin. She's her net. Looks like a death potentially the internet is filled with death. I do not see the plane buses while you never see those planes fail on those like road landings. There's always a success story. Sali successful Denzel was drunk and successful university of Michigan had a plane that went up came down. It was. Okay. It was safe. Yeah. See there's always like there's panic and then it seems like planes survive helicopter. So seems like they do not. I don't know how Leonardo DiCaprio made it that one late night whenever he flew into his ouster wolf, offering helicopters are not done.

"His involvement down the field, the routes that he was running not every route is created equal. You can have ten targets and have a ton of routes and be Ryan grant where you're basically not going down the field or you can be George Kittle which were gronk in level rout super far down the field. He missed a couple catches that. He should have had the matchup is great faculty most yards after the catch for tight ends this year. That's what I love Jack man, or he's not. He's also an air yards man, which I've tastic he's a beast. I mean, he was drafted to be this his on an offense at home now that that should do well, if if Goodwin is out it only bodes. Heavier in the favor of needing to target Kittle. So I think anybody that picked up George Kibble this week, and maybe they picked them up as a stash because they thought he was good enough, but they've got a good titan. I think you can start Kittle. Yeah. The look alliance are the second worst team in the NFL and giving up yards after the catch the tight end position and kill. Does it? Well, I'm all about it yet, but more importantly. Jason Moore's ironclad locked and loaded one hundred percent guaranteed boom, boom, kicker of the week. Last week's boom, boom was a kick in the nuts. This week will be better with the saints. Kicker will lutts. Your parents must be so pretty. They're like, look, that's, that's all.
