The elephant in my room is the whole bow Sham Bechler story, Having known Bo well gone to dinner with him spend time in his In his suite when he had stopped coaching, and there's just a lot of personal involvement there. And I like Bo, I still love bow in fact. And I, I'm with the family. I agree with Kathy Sham Beckler and the whole family And it's not that we're not covering it here at W. J. R that we were the voice of Michigan football for 30 years. We are covering it. Mitch Album did a tremendous show on that right as it all began. As this story broke Guy Gordon has kept that going and had you know Jimmy Brandt stood around and brand center passionately defends both. And, uh, I assume that one day I'll have to talk about it. But I don't really want to talk about it now. Um, so I just wanted to be honest about that, because You know when you know these people, and you think you know them well, and I think I knew Bo pretty well. And you say to yourself Well, there was never a time that Bo displayed to me any characteristics. Other than the kind of characteristic where had he really known what was going on that he would have done something? Yeah, even as far as going into the doctor's office and beating the hell out of the doctor..

Gordon Chu Analyzes How Chat Bot Strategy Can Optimize Customer Service

"Regards to interfacing with customers out there If i'm i'm looking for a flight or maybe i want a book light and i want to use my off. The shelf assistant Let's talk a little bit about that interface and the the end customer. Okay i would say like What we kurt. We have a chat bot in sitting cafe. Kathy pacific talking musical variety. It is also Mobile app so away. Business to ultimately like a frequently asked questions Crushes related to check in change booking and baggage allowance even a even Load the operations related question such as like sparring airline miles you name it and and but i think what i want to share or abou- easter i think it gives a chat bots strategy. I think this is something that could be useful. Awful other corporates absolutely definitely. Let's talk about that. Yeah yeah so we're talking about won't talk about how we occurred positioning chat bots coronation that you i and so what we is. What the chad does that objectives. First of all because we won't talk about automation white. So we wanna be able to lower operating costs of our contact centers right. How can we not talk about reducing agents. How can we juice the unnecessary contact with customers. So that the agent can handle more complicated cases malkani hacks case right right not to provide that to a satisfaction could agents so they're actually doing jobs and also provide a service quality and the second objective is how can we move on any obstacle in the customer journey at preflight and posts so that the customer can can get converted faster and So though so in terms in terms of strategic planning we have created this servicing funnel concept. pham south surgeries the mobile app and also website. Where debate where people actually like a search for flights and do check in a managed at brookings two in the lowest dream The human agents the actual call so imagine like before chat bot defunding goes from the south surfaces and live chat and the contact center agent Handling the car right and the low what gets in the funnel the higher the cost of resolution so the outcome that we are looking at chief by placing a i in the middle of funnel is not about that we want to cannibalize our feature. I mean i mean kim busted features in our digital platforms each properties or to replace the agents the angle they were looking at. How can we create hominy liking the fundamental That when we put a chat bot in the middle what what we want you to do that. "Folks welcome back here from texas. Show this show. I'm the host. I'm eric i'm talking kathy. Ireland kathy. What you're sharing about your mother packing a bible in. Because i know we haven't really dear friend who was a young model and it is a tough life. It's it's awful in so many ways. We think of it as glamorous but it can be not just brutally hard work but it can be abusive and difficult in in so many ways so the fact that your mother packed the bible. Did you know had. She tried to share her faith with you before this i mean she's center her off into the wide world. Had she done that or was this just something that she decided to. Just pack the bible. She shared it and it was very early in her journey so it was new to her. She was quiet yet. I real eric. I really noticed. A transformation on my mom that i loved this disquiet strength and it was so attractive and i really appreciated that and i know that that drew may to really wanna read this to well. It is It is amazing. Also the power of the bible. I mean here you are. you're eighteen years old. You know anything about the bible but you open it up. And somehow god manages to speak to you. I mean for a lot of people. Bible can be really opaque if you don't have somebody explaining things to you but when you're alone somehow you can pick things out because you sort of desperate in a way you're looking for something and there's a lot of something in it but you said i mean i think. A lot of people remain baby christians for a long time like they believe but I think i had those periods it in my life earlier and it is interesting. Though that at some point you kind of turn corner was it. When you were thirty four you said you read the bible in other words. What was it or was there anything that suddenly made you think. I need to take this more seriously. I i was forty. Four did was a woman's retreat. I had every excuse in the world not to go and it was during a quiet time. Nothing monumental of worship time. My heart was convicted in. I just felt for wordpress upon my heart. You say i'm your first priority. But i'm not and my response was clergy. Know what my life is right now at three young kids my husband business all of it. I'm so stretched. And what i got from him was put me i. I will give you better time with your kids. I will expand your time. I'll give you more time with them. And he is so faithful in what began as setting the alarm clock. Fifteen minutes early Became just the biggest joy of my life and in something that frightens me. Eric is when i see people in because i was there Taking the bible out of context and excusing every evil behavior from replacement theology which i believe is instrumental in anti-semitism Racism and bigotry is global. And it's interesting when we think about that that people we had centuries of church history where the bible was spiritualized and when people in seventeen and eighteen hundred started reading their bibles literally. That's when we had the first abolitionist. That's when we had the designers who fought for israel. And i love your book. Hoffer really demonstrating how important it is. When somebody understands the word of god you cannot take it out on the enemy wants to twist it and taken out of context and so that's why it's so important that we're all able to give an account for the hope that is within us. I just love that so you said this was when you were forty four. Yes so that's like eight months ago. I give her take no you look. There's nothing wrong with aging but you really look remarkably similar. It's just so interesting. Some people doing some people. Don't but you you started so young kathy. It's just astonishing to me as a father of a young woman right. Now the idea that you'd be thrown into that world. How do you get into that in other words. What happened to you. Because i mean you're obviously beautiful. You're tall that's sort of what they're looking for but there are a lot of tall beautiful women. Don't get into that world. So how did that happen for you. It's it's a look of a moment in its constantly changing some. I never felt very secure nap at how it happened. I was a tomboy and there was a local model in school that opened in our town. I was sixteen. My parents had saved up their money. But we never really did lessons for you but maybe this will help and so did. They taught you how to walk and match. I was a disaster. It was a beach rat. Here was bride. My nose was peeling one. Big eyebrow in the look at the moment was changing. It was just changing in a scout came to class. When asked if i'd like to go to new york in. Everyone was stunned as i was and they said they would advance me the money. If i didn't like it i could go home. And i figured you know what this is an opportunity to save money for college or to start a business unbelievable and you were how old at the time. By the time. I went off to new york. Seventeen seventeen and it was. I opening experience i. I met some incredible people who am still close today. And i met a lot of predators people back then in the eighties called them playboys near predators and so many lessons learned in really had an impact on our business today As well as that bit my dad worked in labor relations in He worked with sir. Chevenez is putting out houses in the farmlands in camarillo and oxnard in. So how people are treated as always in the forefront of my mind in recognizing seeing human trafficking and recognizing that was happening back in nothing. Hang on hang on a second. From Frying Chicken to Working at Google With Danny Thompson

"Hey danny thanks so much for coming on the show. Thanks for having me. I'm so excited to be here. And i'm a big fan of the podcast. I've been listening to for a couple years now so very excited to be here. Oh well thank you so much. Of course. I gave you a longer introduction before were chatting but could you just tell us a bit about your story and what was happening in your life before. He started learning to code absolutely. I was the reason why i got into. Tech was because of a rapper. This robber invested several million dollars into a tech company. And this kind of blew my mind because at this point of my life i was thirty years old working in a gas station frying chicken and i found myself at a foregone in a road at this point and i said if i go right i'm gonna be in this gas station until the day i die or if i go left to make a change and i don't know what it is just got to do something different. This time that i saw this interview. And he's being asked and he's like why did you spend several million dollars into a tech company and he said i'm learning how to cope now. This blew my mind. Because i never knew someone from my kind of background could ever learn how to cook. My perception at the time was coating was for the in the scientists of the world never for an average individual so he's learning how to code and i'm like why is he learning. Obviously he's not learning how to code because he wants to become a developer and the reasoning was not that he's going to become a developer. And give this million dollar rocker right but it was. Why wouldn't you wanna know how the thing that you touch. Ninety percent out of your day how it operates like why is the extent of our knowledge when it comes to a computer opening a browser opening up youtube dot com and watch some kathy heels and so he starts learning how to code and sorta why and i said i wanna know more like. Why does my laptop cost two thousand dollars. Why does my smartphone cost fifteen hundred bucks. And i started how to and it was never with the idea of. I'm going to become a developer. That came way down the road. It was more long idea of. I'm gonna make a website and it's going to be the best website in the world and it's going to have all the stuff in everyone's gonna want to check it out. But i'm just going to make a website and just have something on there

New Opportunity for Skilled Freelancers

"So. There's a brilliant personal finance writer named kathy kristoff who has a website called side. Hustle dot com. Which is spelled really. Odd side h. u. s. t. l. I think dot com anyway. Kathy has been writing about how much money people with specific skills that are in deep need in the marketplace right. Now are making doing gig work. And i've talked about how even i misspelled it. S i d. h. u. s. l. dot com so traditional side. Hustles like uber and lift and other things where you're working for. Someone else are paying significantly more than they were before. But this isn't those kind of things. These are things where you have a particular technical skill or ability. That people need a lot of right. Now the white you can make is a great deal more than what you could have made pre pandemic and so if you are allowed if you have a specialized skill technical one and art when whatever if you have a special skill where you work for someone but you're not under any kind of non compete that allows you to pick up extra income doing jobs on the side. This is a great time to do that. If you only like working for yourself and you don't wanna work for someone else and be your own boss. The time is really great again if you have specialized skills

Why Does Alexa Not Hear Me?

"This question is for kathy williams manly and she says okay. This will probably seem like a silly question. But what the heck. When i have my music playing on my lexi loud have to scream to get it to respond to my stop command. Anyone else and we had a lot of people that i commented on this and i'll go through some of these answers The first one is Jamie says One of his. And it's infuriating. So i hope someone does find an answer to that and a couple of other people also chimed said. Yeah they notice that too Here's what i think is going on and I tend to agree with this answering. This is from lawley may doodle and Lally says. I really think the problem is lexi. Can't hear you over the volume of the music. I have the same problem. And i tend to agree with you. I think sometimes when the music is loud your voice gets blended in with that music. But here's a couple of other tips. Pete says Periodic periodically reboot your router and your echoes. Also waiting for a lull in the music can help As can emphasizing or lengthening the second syllable of your wake word as in l. an emphasizing. The part i don't actually say the word. Because i don't want to trigger your device so basically if you try to enunciate the wake word a little bit better with a slight pause after the wake word that can help. But i do think the time anyway. Not all the time but some time. It is simply the volume of music. So cathy i think those are the things that you need. Do try enunciating pausing. And just being aware that sums volume can affect the The response of

Your role you are the chief information officer pure storage and maybe you can take a quick moment in provide a brief overview of pure storage. Is business right now. I'd love to do that. So you know appears for relatively young company are i ten years we really set out. To complete change. Storage industry disrupt the status quo. That we'd all been dealing with from an it lens and our vision was really built on being very customer. Centric wanted to fundamentally change expectations for data storage management. Want to think about it from enabling codebase real time access to resilient hybrid cloud data storage for it Not just for. It also developers devops alike etc and really week of storage as co we really want to storage to be dynamic to provide that cloud experience be flexible on demand and really be able to allow developers in spanish to really consume it at their at their Their needs so. That was really whole premise. Behind period. we of say we put the check mark on that and now as we had to go into this next ten years of our company. We really wanna make sure that. We're empowering those organizations who want to really think about their operations as true automated storage as a service model and and really to work across multiple clouds in environments and So that supports on premise. FDA Moves to Ban Menthol Cigarettes and Flavored Tobacco Products

"Light up plans are underway by the Food and Drug Administration to ban menthol flavored cigarettes and all flavored cigars more from Kathy Foster. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the U. S. And One study, conducted by the Food and Drug Administration found that a ban on mental cigarettes could potentially save more than 630,000 lives by 2050 acting FDA Commissioner Janet Woodcock says Because of that, the next year the FDA plans to work toward issuing tobacco products standards that will be in mental and cigarettes. And ban all flavors, including mental in cigars, Woodcock says banning mental the last allowable flavor and banning all flavors in cigars will help save lives, adding methanol acts like a drug when smoked aesthetic properties and qualities that help mask the harshness and irritation of tobacco smoke. Flavored tobacco, including flavors found in some cigars and cigarillos make smoking more appealing by reducing initial aversive responses, according to the latest available statistics released by the CDC. More than a third of all cigarettes sold in the United States were mental flavored. Studies also show that methanol can especially believe young people to become regular smokers, since the flavors may make it easier for beginners to try tobacco. Furthermore, FDA tobacco products Director Mitch Zeller says this Right. The tremendous progress made getting people to stop smoking over the past 55 years. The progress has not been experienced by everyone. Equally. 85% of all black smokers use mental cigarettes. Compared to just 30% of white smokers. And while we've seen declines and mental cigarette use among non Hispanic white use, we have not seen the same declines. And youth from communities of color. The potential band would only apply to keep the products off the market but would not apply to individual possession or use the tobacco industry and its allies are making it clear they plan to put up a challenge. And while the FDA hopes to have the band in place within the next year, it must first go through at number of hurdles, including legal challenges, public comment and even the White House

Wet Notes - 4-9-21

"This is wet notes here scuba shock radio for april ninth two thousand and twenty one first up today. I'd like to give you an update on new netflix. Documentary see spiracy. You might recall that. I introduced you to this film in a previous segment of wet notes. Well it did premiere on netflix's advertised. And i had a chance to watch. She spiracy a couple of weeks ago. The film is eighty nine minutes long and it can be captivating and controversial. Like i said this is certainly raising a great deal controversy especially as it relates to sustainable seafood and fishing. There's a couple of organizations that they called out into spiracy earth island institute and the marine stewardship council actually marine stewardship council issued a response on their website within days of the premier and every day. I see something more coming out related to the controversy. But i encourage you to watch the film and then decide for yourself about what it is saying like. I said lots of controversy. That's spiracy on net flicks now. Here's something that. I found really interesting. I came across an article that talked about how scientists are using thin wales to map out what lies beneath the sea floor. Now according to to seismologists vaclav kina from the czech academy in prague and john nab elec of oregon state university in corvallis oregon the song of the fin. Whales are loud enough to penetrate the earth's crust and revealed deep structures. I guess they have a network of fifty four bottomed size meter seismometers that the tech sound waves traveling through the ground and they picked up the of whales as they were passing by. Now they have a one hundred and eighty nine decibels song and that song can last from two and a half to five hours as they did more analysis they were able to map the underlying rock structures. According to these guys this is just as effective as those air cannons that are polluting the ocean with all that noise how practical this is yet to be seen. But you've gotta admit it is interesting. Now here's an update on the lectured aluminum tanks situation. You might recall back at the end of february. I told you about luxembourg Decision to exit the aluminum tank business and that they were looking to sell their plants in the us and the uk more. Here's some good news. Metal impact out of elk grove village in illinois is acquiring the graham north carolina luxembourg cylinder plant metal impact is no stranger to scuba tank business. They've been around since nineteen fifty nine and in two thousand fourteen. They purchase worthington. Aluminum cylinders has been providing aluminum scuba tanks to excess scuba and see pearls for a number of years. We've got quite a few from excess scuba over the past couple of years and so we're pretty familiar with metal impacts. This is some good news for the. Us aluminum Scuba tank supply chain. There's absolutely no doubt that. The pandemic has had a dramatic impact on the scuba industry. But i guess it's not all bad news if you happen to be in the right place and it seems that hawaii is those right places especially for new diver certifications. There's a recent article in scuba diving magazine. Titled more hawaiians getting certified than before the pandemic turns out that even though the travel has been restricted to and from the islands more locals are turning to scuba aloha scuba on awad who had reported a one hundred and twenty percent increase in new diver certifications. In two thousand and twenty. They went from twenty seven in two thousand and nineteen to eighty three in two thousand and twenty spurred by whole families going for they're open water certification with some great diving. It certainly makes sense to mask up and dive in our aloha state. Last week i was trying to see if the ocean based climate solutions act of two thousand and twenty was being introduced in this session of congress. Well no update on that yet but i did come across something very interesting. There is a house select committee on the climate crisis now. This committee was created during the one hundred sixteenth congress. That was the last one so it hasn't been around long. But they did produce a climate action plan of two thousand twenty. And that's called the congressional action plan for a clean energy economy and a healthy resilient and just america committee is chaired by representative. Kathy castor from florida and the ranking chair is representative garrett graves from louisiana now. I watched their organizing meeting from march nineteenth. Let's say there's just a little bit of difference on the ideas of how to approach In the approaches in making the us carbon zero by two thousand fifty but as representative castor stated. It's time to turn recommendations into policy. Now i'll be tracking our actions and keep you updated here and finally you might recall. Last year the uss bonham rashard an eight hundred forty four foot long and fibia assault ship burned out of control for five days. Now that was in san diego california. But now senator. Marco rubio from florida is proposing that the ship be used to create an artificial reef down in florida little bit of background. The navy did some cost analysis On what it would take to restore the ship to operational status an estimated that that would be somewhere between two point. Five and three point five billion dollars but the cost to decommission and scrap the bonham rashard would be about thirty million dollars. Senator rubio didn't provide any details on where the ship might be sunk and be become an artificial reef but he did say that it could be done for less than thirty million dollars to scrap the ship. This word Happened it would be. We'll keep an eye on it and see where it goes. Fingers crossed that will have another artificial reef down in florida. Something that big to dive on. Well that's it for this installment of wet notes for april ninth. Two thousand and twenty

How consumers are using their latest relief checks

"To have you with us. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is out with a new study today, looking at how people are spending or not spending their pandemic relief checks. So far, most are using the money to pay off debt or saving it. Not exactly the economic stimulus. Many are hoping for marketplaces Nancy Marshall Ganz or has more on why people are holding back on spending. The New York Fed says the consumers it surveyed who've already received their third relief checks are hanging on to the money just like they did with the 1st and 2nd relief payments. The Fed report says. Consumers are only planning to spend a quarter of the most recent check, and most of that will go toward essentials. We were savers Jason Calas are is an eighth grade teacher. He, his wife and teenage son lived near Los Angeles. He says. In the before times they go out to eat once or twice a month. But they won't be using any their stimulus money for that. In fact, he doesn't think they'll set foot in a restaurant until next year. We spent the lad better part of 13 months used, avoiding indoors and people are strangers. And then it would just be a big hurdle to get over. Salazar says they might reconsider once they're all vaccinated. Kathy Bostjancic, an economist at Oxford Economics, says a lot of other consumers feel the same way. The confidence to go out and spend on services is is very directly related to the progress we're making on the vaccinations. Question Sick thinks will make enough progress for consumer spending to jump about 3.5% over the next few months. Other economists, like Joseph Minarik of the Conference board aren't quite so optimistic. Fed’s Corporate Bond Buying Foresaw a Year of Covid Pain

"A year ago. The twenty third of march twenty twenty early. On as you're know in the days of this pandemic when maybe not all of us understood how much trouble we were gonna be in public health wise mental health wise certainly and economic health wise as well and we begin today of last year because we marked two milestones on this tuesday first of all the stock market low of the pandemic. It's been basically straight up since then. I know not the economy. Thank you we offer that. Just as a marker also a year ago today the federal reserve said it was going to step in and start buying up corporate bonds. That was and is a big deal. The fed getting into corporate dead didn't because the market for that debt just frozen and the fed was helping those companies borrow at lower rates which can be conducive to business and borrow they did. Corporate debt had records in twenty twenty but with rising interest news of late. As we've been telling you corporate debts been getting a little bit more expensive. Marketplace's justin ho gets us gone. Investors think about corporate bonds. Kind of like how they think about government bonds. If you're going to lock up my money for years you better pay me enough interest to make it worth my while. They want to be earning a rate of return that is higher than expected inflation. That's winnie caesar. at wellsfargo. She says many investors expect inflation to pick up this year. People are likely to spend more and that spending good drive up prices not just for regular consumers but for companies to it could be that accompanies cost of labor is increasing. It could be that. A company's cost of just raw materials and commodities is increasing. Those expectations are causing. Corporate bond yields to rise. But they're also signs of an improving economy says kathy jones chief fixed income strategist at charles schwab. Which underwrites this program. Jones says corporate borrowing costs are historically low and even though they're currently rising that shouldn't be an impediment to them investing and continuing to grow the business. The concern says stephen davidov salomon uc. Berkeley is if rates continue to grow into next year or the following if rates get too high. He says companies won't be able to borrow as much to a fun. Projects investment will slow because investment becomes more costly fed chair. J. paul said today although he expects prices to creep up this year he doesn't think that will have a big or lasting impact on overall inflation.

Thanks so i'm sure the audience really going to enjoy this station. And what you guys see in the financial markets right now. Toby whereas and i wrote a book of fairy long time ago now. It's almost a decade since it came out and that's pretty good explanation of sort of the underlying process which is like the screen basically and then under a few things on top of that. I think the most interesting thing in the market at the moment is kathy would and ach. Etf's you might remember. In the early dot com days those funchal janus and the head break performances go great flows like a of flaws as a result and they were focused on smaller quid. Take names said janus had these gripe flows into these very illiquid stocks and they degrade performance as a result and it was probably van driving up. The performance of those stocks has been a similar argument made about ach that they tend to focus on smaller. Non-profitable take stokes and Sorta gigantically big of the last few years. It's now sort of a third or fourth biggest. Ats show out there that flows now that go into these small illiquid tech stocks of they control prices of these textbooks. Had this little wobble of the last few days colson redemptions for them which may cause them to do some selling as well they also have been exposure tasteless I just think that that's the driver of the market at the moment is potentially getting some redemptions having to sell out of some of those stocks which will push an the names and a very sort of beholden to what tesla Much big stuff. But it's still quite volatile. Hasn't made a great deal of money and so there's some risks that creates Cascade selling an odd gets coordinated. And then i didn't know what that does to the rest of the market. That seems to me that there's a lot of money in tessler knocked is fairly new money. Little be sensitive to what happens

The blood pressure is just to make sure that you're not getting any pre sick tuxedo, which can occur after hitting a baby just in the few sit a week or so after having a baby site. It sat you should be having a black Krisha cheat, and was temperature new post because something was elevated on either thighs it can be a sign of pice nasal and facial, so those should be monitored or so what you're join. Blood loss is bang like to make sure these nothing unusual going on the every high amount or lot of Klotz coming out some Klotz, absolutely normal. And then you'll Sundell height it so the height on fuel way. So it should be involuted down and die. Forget, this also though is the three or four day two or three blues coming in as well. So they failed seismic changes in your minds causing that over a common over normal at four out of five women all about this time is Rayleigh spice tints to be more about the baby, the baby is become the center of your universe, which is exciting, but incredibly time consuming. So all the fish Tweety for as that babies often do quite a bit sleeping fade. But don't quota sleeping Valiquette but of recovery sleep, particularly after being going through the labor themselves, but day to aim J. They just. Become Fyvie fade. What do they do? "Welcome to one of Kathy fries mother wise podcasts. Kathy is a best selling maternity, author and award winning international maternity consultant, during her time as a midwife, she's caught hundreds of babies, so you're in good hands. Enjoy. Hello, everybody. Hyatt's kid? If I hear from mother wise and welcome to another with an at will podcast and today's topic is all about day one post had him. So that very first twenty four hours after you've had a baby. And of course, what we're gonna do. Here is just a very quick sort of five minute overview, and if you would like to have the extended vision, which is a twenty five minutes going. Dowling allot depend into the topics thin time. He's talked to come through to essential by six eight join tribe, and I'll unquote alling at the bottom of the one of the comments on this fade. All right. So the main things that you need to be thinking about or hopefully, your health provisional, as thinking about with your net. I twenty four hours nightly as an assessment of your well, Bain a lot of guidance to do with your breastfeeding, and make sure. Sure that you gotta have the ongoing support that you need. And also, of course, a single baby. So I'm just to set a run out of it is kind of briefly and you can have a peon piper eight dot pointless. So you can go with them about Monte, tell with your health care provisional, you'll midwife will oppositition typically it's McGuire at this point, particularly, sometimes you might have assistance from Dula or election in social tat, or maybe it's just Yemen. But these things that you want to be making sure that somebody as professional ideally is using these thanks, Sherry officially with your, it's a really good idea to have a debrief about your life, and your birth Howard, went with the person who is the assistant you with it. So be that your private midwife, your private obstetrician. If it's possible if you went using hospital shift midwife, but quite a bit of a deep grief, and go, I'd written asking questions is to. Why this Dina why it was done. And make sure that if you've got any little tiny snippets of trauma, and the that you get Sadr China why and get your questions answered your uterus. Inva- Lucien on the very first day, your womb with the Fundus of your womb, the top of your will be setting it about your Alexis, or your belly bassin Sardis. It's absolutely normal. Stride act to having a baby. You look about five months pregnant, and then that will go and the size of, of your remover G stem over the next two weeks, K. So then you're breastfeeding, you need to really understand what's going on and Feazel, but so for the first few days, you are producing Colostrum because a baby has got brained new neighbor used utilized all in Stein's in full Moke is just too much at that stage. So all memos as it made it if you are a wail or a human or a goat or. A mouse, we all get Colostrum and is face few anti Colostrum is often night by midwives as a liquid gold because it's got a very yellow-colored normally, it is not so affected to be expressing using an electoral respond the most of, of to express off Colostrum is by hand and just clicking with a little syringe that doesn't have a needle on. So it is absolutely normally your day in the first twenty four hours will go some at real combination of some fades, and some recovery sleeps, so babies could do some longest -letes those fish twenty four hours. But the day to tomorrow, you gotta have day to baby would just wanna pay faith case be prepared slip as much as you can in their fish, twenty four hours 'cause you may not get muchly at all. And the following Tweety for as make sure that you are. We are of they things that are. Gonna Megyn say in the postnatal period and things, basically, if you were to spike Afifa where you start at Healy have I seen very late. And then, of course, we've got all the wellbeing things to do with your eighty and you should at the stage. Be very confident with what it's all about, and the things that you need to be looking out for. "Welcome to one of Kathy fries. Mother wise podcasts. Kathy is a best selling maternity author and award winning international maternity consultant during her time as a midwife she's caught hundreds of babies. So you're in good hands. Enjoy. Hello, everybody. And this is Kip defray from otherwise. And we doing it the episode today, and this we've been out podcast depending on where the watching or listening as particularly talking about when you get to over forty weeks, and what can you kind of expect to occur over that next couple of weights bearing in mind that the absolutely normal period of time to have a baby fully to him is anyway from thirty seven to forty two weeks before thirty seven weeks is cream it to labor giving both to Preterm baby. Or after forty three ways is when you are. Actually post tanks, but leads bionic. I and Sern as we all when we're pregnant get to that magical forty week is demented g station that is cool that estimated Jude eight suddenly we feel like we're undercoat in the baby is overdue in the whole thing's taking too long. But of course, it's actually not. So the average face baby. I have read research on is born at forty weeks in teen days. I don't know how accurate that is. But anyway, so it's very very normal to give birth between forty and forty two weeks, especially with the I I think and to be honest, those baby set are just a little bit older can do so much afterwards. Such a lot more best. I forty one week here is a lot easier to breastfeed general trim since I thirty seven week. Oh, he's four weeks younger. So that's a good thing. But also, so what kind of is a normal price. Now, always late every different hospital and country in region in doctors can have different policies, but to give you a real raff kind of Ogilvy Sar sudenly once again to forty weeks, you know, it SUNY giving you permission to be pretty proactive on trying to get your body into spontaneous labor because it is great. If you can absolutely void a post, an induction of labor purely because you apostates, and if you are post dates, I cannot at all and good conscience essay that it's a good thing to be getting to be voluntarily agreeing to an induction before you're at least sort of forty one weeks and five days or forty one weeks in six days or forty two. Two weeks. If the only reason for that induction is because you'll pice tights because you are not pice tights until forty two weeks. And it is fascinating for you in faucet figure baby for you to go into spontaneous labor rather than being used before your civics, and you baby and your body is ready yet that takes you from a risk to a high risk labor with substantially increased statistics of complications of instrumental Averis emergency deliveries traumatic delivery Syrian deliveries law at gas stores hemorrhage rights, so yeah, anyway, so engineer James, no once you get to vote he weeks, and especially by forty one weeks, if you are at midwife obstetrician cities thing that they stretch in suite of your cervix, which is an internal exam where they stretch for cervix open a little bit and sweep the member. Raines that can eat too. It's your I I'm kind of pro that to be honest, if it's do street wave and help the woman go into light bat or not do the intervention in the she needs induction will let brainer that is interfering. It isn't intervention, but it's a very mild one eight and leads to say that midwives have been doing that intervention with thousands and thousands of years obsta traditions did not invent that. I saw restrictions rapes end just knowing that you baby's got good facial movements that usually around forty one weeks. It's pretty normal to have a post date Oprah sound, and there's a few different cheeks. They do the tickly making sure everything plus into looks good waters around the baby looks good Citra, then usually beyond that you would have every two or three days a CD. So that's that the belts gar around the tummy and dole. Little print tap babies hot. So. This really is apart from it. It's just kind of sit and wait, but we do go. I do go into a note more detail about this on my full links with an us and podcast. So we'll enter Lincoln vay to the bottom of this view. Looking listen to it. So before thirty seven weeks, Julie and after forty two weeks late, right? So you should already misinter- stuff before for me. I think that would have told you about the signs and symptoms of active labor. So with a first baby. That's usually once you paid one two. Hours of three to four contractions every teen minutes all over a minute long. And at that point you've started eight to ninety before there is latently and with a seekin by a generally, you would touch base. Once you've hit a couple of hours of contractions, if routine minutes as soon as you're having three contractions retain minutes, but everybody is different than everybody situation as unique. So it's important that you speak with your own midwife or of situation about what arrangements you have between you and the is to win. It's the right time to be touching base in your light bulb to other things that commonly occur in light by Witcher absolutely normal in of no up Citra community as you having some bloody mucous shows than always plotting. But they are was mucus look like sort of Igwe really end with a bit of sort of but of blood through them. So that means you're Subic says opening which is wonderful and. Glaciers can occur at two two weeks before having a baby the suit me nothing too super excited about it's just a normal thing occurring. And in a second thing is absolutely normal is wash is breaking. So what is can right before labor during during booth or after rear labor does Apu sometimes too? So again, exit north no nothing to be freaking out about two things that are not Nomo when you're enlighten is if you are actively humor joins so that means you bleeding. It is running down you'll leagues filling a paid an happening. I Senator pavement half. Now, something like that. That's absolutely not normal and very rare. When it comes to a rule spontaneous labor with a healthy normal baby on board having him urging in labor is very rare. But at something you need, you would -absolutely need to go to the hospital on very quickly. And the other thing is if you have Makoni. Emmett stained waters. So if the waters ghetto brand that means you're AB head Apu, which may just mean, it's head Apu, or it might mean that the baby's streets side is another reason to cheat out sort of our whistles of Megyn. But it does make you wanna get to have somebody assist. Your baby's happy tonight recently timely why and certainly if you go by is kicking around very heavily. Do you date that you've been given? It's really not Sajid. I it's simply I foresee wake eastern nation Jewish station date. So you had to to give birth to this baby anywhere between thirty super in forty two weeks. So anything before city ways, it's premature and everything anytime. After two weeks as light, but you could give birth anywhere between is I say, even a forty two weeks, and that won't be really be like, all right? So late seven look in my little than I've got vio-. So, you know, if you've got your partner who can take some time of work. They may be your mother, maybe a sister, go free in mother-in-law just spread them out over the spoil wakes. Nice to have somebody around all the time in the first week was sorry after they. Hi, you know, if you can pop it on Monday, Tuesday Wednesday or Monday Wednesday Friday or something, and you patent is going to be the mother dies. It's going to even you might wanna get your partner to spread via leave out on a part time basis. So still having you know, one say instead of having two solid weeks off at home to get maybe one way cough at home to keep that in the city's following wait say they were tuned to just Pat time something like that. It's it out. Things is make sure that you are aware of your choice of scientists symptoms of postnatal envisions signs and symptoms of depressive disorders, might sure you already line that with your Hymie apparel. Well, traditionally assisted as mothers, grandmothers and female friends have always surrounded women during childbirth providing tremendous encouraging support, but with the move to hospitalize deliveries from the nineteen twenties. The support was really taken over by hospital staff but half a century later hospitals realized that it really is quite elemental to thing emotionally, which strictly impacts physiologically that women do receive the support of people that they actually know during labor so has been spurned fighter to be present by although child with can create a major coal marital memory having your partner who is an experienced Charles booth present so doesn't necessarily provide all their woman needs during labor in some countries any extra life support prisoners employed. Breastfeeding tips and caring for the newborn either household tasks. I'm in in the US side. We had ninety percent of bits obstetric deliveries woman have teen to to employ to to try to quite an quite keep things normal in other countries site as a New Zealand, we're I'm from midwives are in charge of all spontaneous natural normal births and actions as well often the case in walkman -tations, and we bring in that we refer to out obstetric colleagues. Thanks, not normal. But anyway, getting back to you ate your situation. Look at the end of the day what we all need at chocolate is dedicated constant and steady one on one compansion, companionship, just devoid of all criticism. Way require in rely on non stop attentiveness to our needs by someone who will not take a Phoenix it being. UB think critical or you being aggressive during the and TNT stages sort of losing the plaza level. But there we can Nate continual physical Hanes on assistance. Sometimes is little is a hand to squeeze during the contraction peaks, we need someone is able to provide us with food and drink a help the office suggestions of different positions, perhaps to reduce the discomfort and constant emotional guidance. Encouraging us to relax to breathe to help us to avoid feeling overwhelmed. This Taisho loving in antibiotic attention from one k person other than the midwife came provide such huge sock logical support that it absolutely can significantly retraced requests for pine relief because life can frankly Bailey's painful, it is also bane repeatedly proven to reduce set average link of Leiper Richardson, Nate for a pac- awesome as an operative delivered to deliveries at improves the baby's condition in positively improve the empowerment of the mothers booth, experienced with out doubt. So if you choose your partner to be your breath assistant, they need -scribed. I'm, but they do need to know that during the light. But at is the job to give you confidence in physical comfort. You need adaptable. Life is support piece in. Having is just frankly extremely therapeutic. Some means don't think they will cope well with the experience of delivery because size mean might think that they could feel squeamish or or they could feel like they would crumble saying someone they love and pain. And so the numerous about how they can adequately support you and these concerns while they need to be respected because it is also possible for main tip believed tool Matarrese from childbirth. So if you don't fill your partner is to Hindle being your Dula. You think you might fall asleep in the Chia or you think he'll just constantly be popping out facilities or constantly take staying on his let's talk to doing some games while you know, I didn't just consider advising eight women of significance to join the terror of year. Often, it can be the woman's our mother or a sister or an experience close girlfriend, but whoever you chase Mike sure they have at least Rafer me arised themselves with the stages of labor and the best thing I could honestly say off his sleep. And my biased opinion is to get them. And all your base support people to read my labor and booth chapter of a baby. But he at an absolute minimum get them to read the free organic booth. Download that I that is available on my website. Some woman also do choose a teach the extra people such as extended family to be presented the booth. But what I would say is just starting in fi anyone that you think you could feel inhibited by or a Pearson that you would feel embarrassed to have an Iran if they were to say some of your raw emotions, and if they were to say some of your roar nudity. Sorry as a summary at some periods of an enormous late advantageous for the physiological prices have charges that you try to ensure you will have no negative energy present it the booth bay that somebody who is just not really engaged in the priciest crises or might be that just a worry wart, and they're gonna be stressed and anxious during your life. In other words, although the raw primal energy of light behaves stages that are noisy in anything. But peaceful sometimes oftentimes still try to pre pre Pierre a comforting booth environment that is calm and serene and tranquil it really really does have an unpaid. And by the way, if you want a comprehensive Ethan video photos tippy teiken off the light rental Afri, do not necessarily expect that your main labor support personal partner will be able to perform that Judy as well. They could be very busy with you. I'm sorry. What you need at the end of the day. What you don't need a labor is speak Titus. You unique people who are actively supporting it's not a spectator sport. And I'm having people just sitting around on their phones texting and playing games because there's more people in the room, then needs to be well, I guess it's absolutely fine. If you've got any PG role onboard, and you can carry on a regular conversation. Why he not you'll be property extend yourself, but if you are actually an strong spontaneous active light, but. "Welcome to one of Kathy. As mother wise podcasts. Kathy is a bestselling maternity author and winning international maternity consultant during her time is amid while I she's called hundreds of babies, so you're in good hands. Enjoy. This is KP pray and welcome to this podcast on delayed cord limping. Now, I am a recent Yee's this idea his become a prevalent trend of women asking for the clamping and cutting of the baby's umbilical cord to delight until after it has stopped posting for the placenta is delivered an country and you Zealand delight cord clamping is power of a natural physiological booth thing off the placenta. And so it is supposed to be midwifery default might and the immediate clamping and cutting is for a managed delivery of the placenta in should only be done for women at risk off humored Jiang, or who I actively humor Jiang or because the night Nate's immediate recess. Assistant insistence needs to go to the resuscitative for c-pap suction, but often in reality, we do have some old school midwives in some. Lot of old school obstetricians who have a teen didn't say to go straight to the Minhaj vision Cussing in claiming the code very quickly using an oxytocin injection, even when there is absolutely nog indicating respecters so because of the woman has become a bit more proactive to intentionally request for the delay as pop of the Iran booth plane, but in my experience few moms really understand the science of what it is that the Raskin four now, we absolutely do know, they en- low birth weight or Preterm infants to lie in court, claiming his multiple health benefits and should be a significant priority and delight court claiming also appears to potentially benefit by these whose mothers hid low iron stores. So in other words, they hit lion in Nemea in the pregnancy towards the end how we have to say the jewelry is out a little as two with a loading up a full Tim, healthy normal, baby. With extra more read blood cells after build is truly all that being official. Use a dozen crease vibes on stools will. It's just because read blood cells contain on, but photinia nights at and hearing Lee born with a higher lebeau, all re blood cells, and I actually need is they transition from the low oxygen entry you to Rhine environment to the higher oxygen extreme you to Ryan environment. So that is why when babies refused is old they developed jaundice because the body's need to break down these excessive amounts of the red blood cells. So subsequently research shows that delaying cord clamping and a healthy full. Tim newborn does slightly increase the risk of fate newborn getting severe jaundice and the other health benefits that a talented hicfa tile you scientifically, I'm mostly hypothetical. So my recommendation is this with a low risk natural booth. When there was no Nate to immediately. Clint the cord then it should not be dumb because it's not part of normal physiological briefing of the placenta. However, if for any reason, the court does need to be immediately cut, then as appearance, please. Don't feel your babies missed out on some essential vital start to life. You may have actually saved him a little bit of fighter light therapy. To treat jaundice, so just allow it to be what ends up to be without even having recruit. "Welcome to one of Kathy fries. Mother wise podcasts. Kathy is a best selling maternity author and award winning international maternity consultant during her time as a midwife she's caught hundreds of babies. So you're in good hands. Enjoy head. Hello. Hi, everybody could be a here from mother wise and welcome to this quick little five minute wave. A podcast depending on how you listen to it or watch yet. The topic today is getting to that point of being right at the beginning of your third trimester around that sorta twenty six twenty eight weeks, and what things should you be focusing on? What things should you be making show, you becoming aware and knowledgeable segue opinions out because I'm going to give you a quick quest. All right. So very fish -ly signs and symptoms of pre eclampsia. Now this teens to happen. More in the second half of the Trumpster by that can happen Ilia, and you really should know your signs in symptoms. Impre acclaim seeing it is bicyc- play the pre stage before eclampsia and eclampsia is having seizure. That's right. So we don't want a guy there. Absolutely not. And you know, it's not that long ago woman. And they phase it the woman and babies would dive claims yet because this was before we had envy hypertensive mutation. So yeah, you wanna be aware the symptoms. It says a serious disease of pregnancy. And generally from win somebody is diagnosed with it that baby is born with an about twelve days on everage, sometimes Ilia sometimes later because it's a real balance between getting the baby to the beast, g station longest g station possible. Without it becoming very dangerous for the woman and the Bibey supremecy is having high blood pressure with another dysfunction. So this pregnancy and juice type attention with another dysfunctional, which might make rano dysfunction or of a dysfunctional. Something else is going on. And and that is picked up through lead. Teast? There are some really distinct. Signs that you can have. So I have just going to run through them. So your ankle or fate swelling? That does not go down overnight. So it is really common to get puffy ankles and pregnancy, but when you wake up in the morning heavy being on horizontal, they should not be the Vistan, okay or swelling or popping to the hands on Nick Feis, basically the apple body when you getting puffiness, that's not logical. When you think of of the fact that you're this is above the heart. Okay. So it's quite logical the blood sort of a little polling in the lower extremities when you're pregnant just why he get his puffy ankles. But it's eligible to hit the the blood polling and upper extremities because gravity so that's a sign if you get lever pain, so they can be sort of apar-, bright quadrant. Pain up his lawyer. Rep. So around the back behind is reps is Val so lever pain, if you get he dives, particularly strong frontal, he thanks and in the other things visual disturbances of saying spots softens being blurring. So if you get any thoughts as you need more, the one if you get any ties diffusing that you need is a current blood pressure reading, and they is confirmed as Bank hypertensive, oh bordering on being hypertensive. Then the next step is flat TS to cheek if they is headman. So that is the main thing that I want you to be really really aware off and your third trimester onwards, the beginning for the things that he's your list. Get ready to write down the things you need to be making sure you're starting to be aware of and that would be fist of informed. Consent decisions that we're gonna pay a topics around your child with like that so viciously the third stage knowing. Difference between active and managed active delivery will manage building of the placenta the cord cutting who's doing there and knowing out what delayed quoting his about. When there is and isn't appropriate placenta with you wish to keep it to berry with your wishing to keep it to encapsulate with you want hospital to dispose about with the rubbish and vitamin k with your babies having not what the advantages, are it and vaccines hypnotise bait to bit Yalies Spacey. These things you need to you'll already know about if you hate those diseases yourself the hearing screen, which is often done around the world in different countries. When the baby is few days, also knowing what it is. It's painless by the way, they prefer to win the babies, and let's basically saying the drums bouncing back sound, so don't diagnosing the baby's different orders. Just to. Screen disease things looking like a normal. Then you've got the hit threes heel prick tasteful metabolic screen that stat on babies with eye not long born that is again into screening teast to check us very different metabolic disorders. They're all things that if you were to wait until that child had symptoms of disease. They damage is probably already done. So they're all things a really good thing to know very early on as early as possible within their AB may have that Pollock disorder. You also want to on your to-do list as now about the benefits of complementary therapies hang feeling about your booth fee. News location. And and that's it. Make sure you drink some chop is rating. Now, I'm going to be going on right now enduring Mino more longer fallings of the oh with our an a circle closed. Which is the mother wise master class eighty eight alma leagues here if you would like to join us at any stage, and you could always watch these we've been as the back into the library of the we've been asked as well. So I'm going to be joking about these topics because into a lot of detail. So I wish you all a wonderful wake and we shall see week. And then the second thing is getting booked in understanding what you're getting booked an for for you want anti-nato classes your child with education, prenatal, postnatal, education, classes that all done in that pure prenatal, period. And now officially with regards to intimately -cational child is education. People will call it sometimes anti-nato classes that. Go buy lots of different names. Malls, lots of different things. But basically what you want to do is make sure that you do get booked in because they can vote and the you kinda feel a little but stuff that you don't hit exists today to information. I want you to or Cyrenaica that these very general classes and the covering over a wide demographic so pleased ever imagine in your wildest dreams. Think of is like a little tiny weeny introduction. So this is how much you need to know. By the time. A big wide circle of mation you need to know by the time by arrived with your contraction and a little tiny weeny circle in the middle is what those first classes will give you. So it's up to you. This is the most important job that ever. It's wonderful. Now, the other thing I wanted to could explain today's at the Neta me scan. Now, there is done at usually around eighteen to twenty eight and its purpose is to shake they by these night to me. So we thinking, you know, what? It's a visual in Nashville check of the structure of the baby. Generally, the earliest system is around eighteen weeks because you know, even they knew out looking at a very tiny human being and the hell they managed to see what they manage these Sinaga physician talented radiography goodness. Even I don't understand. It's like amazing what looking through these layers and layers of adipose tissue yet, they managed to work it out if you can hold off your excitement in white to new crisis to twenty weeks. It's beta you've got a bigger baby. This more to be able to see it's helpful, particularly if you're larger woman, but of course, anatomy scandal such can be done any J station. It's just that around that eighteen nineteen twenty weeks is released. That we can logically start to see a lot of things. Now, they could also be when they soon our fate may tell you what the six of the baby is, but it's not the purpose of the scam. So I would think that we're gonna go live on with the extended vision of the we've been today, I'm going to be talking also about baby safety that's infancy PM, but because a quote, -ment USA, complementary alternative medicines.
