"It's interesting you know you talk about the move with the chargers and the rams and everything and I remember miles and I were at a game in Los Angeles with the chargers playing the raiders. And then you see this blimp flying overhead that has the scientists basically like Fu. You spanos arena. It didn't quite recall what it said but the words were not kind and you have to wonder like even talking about distractions like you for the players at a looking at this kind of stuff was the warming up and thinking. Wow these guys hate us. If only they would've put that kind of energy towards the vote rather than securing a blimp or whatever it was playing you know. Maybe they would have still had their team. I sorry about that but just to say it so when you look at over I mean. There's all kinds of things that can happen throughout the season obviously You know but I think right now for a lot of fans for the raiders have been in Los Angeles. This is kind of a good thing for them now. They're able to come a little bit closer to be able to see the raiders. Play in Las Vegas so I haven't heard quite as much backlash yet. I mean. Obviously there's going to be people who are in Oakland. Have still troubles dealing with the team? Come into Las Vegas. You know I don't see necessarily that there's GonNa be a hard transition that way. It's a it's Vegas as a destination city. I think a lot of people come to and there was a three year. Walk up to this show fans In in the bay area or or whoever was you know wanted them staying Oakland and are hurt but they're not had three years to absorb it in to deal with it and wrap their arms around it and and you know rectify Y You know as individuals whereas in Saint Louis was like boom. You're teams gone and see a letter. And and same thing in San Diego January twelfth twenty sixteen twenty seventeen. The chargers announced that they're moving and months later they're gone So that's a little bit different dynamic for those teams. Then is for the raiders who again had three years to say goodbye to Oakland and and And Yeah you're right. There's a lot of fans in Los Angeles and the southern California area that are going to support the raiders whether I season ticket holders. We've seen that. The numbers are pretty good in Los Angeles and Southern California For the season tickets same with Oakland moves. There's people that are remaining fans of the raiders. And they're gonNA make the trip to Las Vegas as you said. That's a great destination. Said we all know that So that certainly certainly helps. The San Diego thing was just weird because San Diego has always looked at or had a thing about Los Angeles. It's just it's not reverse like Los Angeles San Diego who doesn't WanNa go to San Diego with beaches everything it's a great city to go to whereas there's a thing with San Diego and Los Angeles so the charges probably couldn't have moved to a worst place if you're a San Diego Fan even though it's just a couple of hour drive but it's a place that people there's just this thing that goes on between San Diego and Los Angeles more from San Diego toward Los Angeles and so those fans just said nope not going to be a part of it and don't want to be a fan and and that's really hurt the charges loot seen that Whereas the raiders. I think are going to carry over a lot of Oakland fans. I would think I wouldn't WANNA be on. I fifteen on Sunday afternoons at like six o'clock. "Patriots. I Patriot dot com slash analytics dynasty. Where I do more like book centric work. I would say like it's more. It's all audio stuff. Most of its audio stuff. But I have like I don't have I don't have rankings per se because I think they're tough to they don't exactly convey what I'm trying to convey so I have something I call my dynasty tears which looks at players and groupings and looks players in different inaudible different of contexts to try and identify value on them. So you can find all that at my patriots side as well. Gotcha Yeah Adam Jokes here that I'm not much of a reader so maybe he should make an audio book to man so I didn't on that action I it's funny people have said that to me. They're like you should do an audio book. And I like I saw the actual editing process for the book is me sitting in a room with my editor and reading it aloud and I swear at like it's the worst thing that it's it's horrible like it's a horribly it's I mean I trust him and he's not like he's getting embarrassed me or anything but it is the most humiliating thing to have to read it out loud like. I'm horrible reading out loud so no one wants to listen to me. They were joking that I should get Morgan. Freeman into outside the That's hilarious you. Never know maybe for next year just an idea. Just floating out there I I think you know just answering those questions. Kinda Kinda give people an idea of what? You're doing the content. You're doing your you know the way you approached this stuff. Josh Inaugural Josh. A little more specific. I think he had a few questions about some of the stuff that you do specifically with the book in the end the podcasts whatnot but All at Josh into that. And then we'll go into some of the other segments. Do here on the podcast. So Josh Okay. Okay so the first thing I wanted to ask was is your. Your primary thing is warped. Right wins over. Replacement player is in the. When I I wrote the book I was interested in like. There's so many ways that you can look at identifying players and but I wanted like at one general currency so like a a running back. Twenty-three finish in a wide receiver. Twenty-three finish does things are different in terms of how we should think about them in the value of them. So I did create warped and I look at a lot of it through that. Lens like my a lot of the roster construction a lot of those things it is. It is based on warp which is wins over replacement player. And it just tells you how many how many wins a player will add over the replacement players during the first Thirteen weeks through the regular season of fantasy football. And then I have a I guess. A related thing which is called a warp which is war but factors in the the starter rate of players During the season and it gives you a little bit more indication of like the true value and however players like truly helping you During the season yeah. I think that's really interesting. So one thing I wanted to ask about war while there's do players maintain a war over a long period of time or is it just up and down year to year to year. Yeah I think it's positionally it's a little bit different and so like one thing that I think is is like pretty interesting in terms of consistency. Is I think. Kinda what you're getting at is consistent. Players are your ear And what you'll see is like receivers for example like the high end guys like they'll be consistent year-over-year Mike Evans or like Jarvis Landry. Those guys are almost plug and play like top. Twenty four receivers Almost at worst at this point in their career They have been at least. And but you'll see a lot of fluctuation week to week just because inherently the wide receiver position is a highly is highly influx Just because of targets and touchdown rate and all the things that go into scoring. It's just it's a high amount of volatility. Weak the weak so those guys have a lot of I would say generally consistent. You're every year but you'll see flood fluctuation week-to-week Running backs it's you. Tend to get the like the part of this draft. That's really compelling to me is you'RE GONNA get guys at like twenty one years old that are coming in that are going to be not necessarily round one. Maybe you'll one that'll sneak in around one but you're going to get multiple cracks in round two of the NFL draft at guys that are going to that. Data can be twenty one year old rookies with really good profiles in like the war. The warp implications of those especially in the rookie draft context is just pretty massive in terms. Of what you can do in fantasy so yeah I mean it. The different positions have different tracks in terms of warp. It it'll fluctuate ear but But yeah I mean like there will be different. I guess I would say a different age curb in terms of how players or increase or anything like that by position. Okay that's that makes sense to me then. So you touched on this already but a base rate is is that sort of like a player's chance of hitting exactly what it is and it's based on so. I talk in the book about like the base rate of a player and I wanted to know like in the first book I looked a lot like. Hey you know. Wide Receiver third-round wide receiver like twenty three percent of the time I think is what the number is and so I wanted to know like all right well so it was like the first book that I wrote and then as I started thinking about it more I said well what as as we a year goes by without them hitting. What's that mean are how does how does that rate moves And then you know two years go by three years go by so you sort of look at those and it will sort of it'll change. It'll obviously go down The more time that goes by without hitting your your base rate or your hit rate goes down And it but the fascinating part is that it's different by position it's really different by pedigree so you'll see different positions and indifferent and different NFL draft pedigrees will will change how players perform. Okay so I gotta I gotta ask says if a player goes deep into their career before they finally hit does that. What's the density of that hit? Yeah so the funny part is like there's not a ton of like there's not a ton of guys that hit outside of your five devante Parker's yeah so devante. Parker is a fascinating one like devante. Parker is the first wide receiver and I went back to two thousand so the first the first wide receiver this century that was drafted in the first round the NFL draft. That missed the first four years of his career and then hit near five. It's the first time that's ever happened. you've seen a couple of guys do that in your four And so you'll see guys that missed the first three years and hitting your four. Those guys were historically Peter. Work Michael Crabtree. But after year three first round wide receivers don't hit that often right there spent. I think three them. Now that have done it So that's a really like that's a pretty cautionary tale book is like You know Mike Williams or Corey Davis or Like we'll fuller those types of guys. It's pretty cautionary about about what Sir track might be in their career. But we don't have a ton of sample and you'll see like there'll be a massive out like for example. Alex Smith like hitting. Your thirteen was the first time he hit For a season. So you don't really see a ton of hits outside of like initial hits outside. Lick your five But yeah they just have lesser time to be dance six years and you hit you just have lesser opportunity. Be Dense than guys that hit at twenty one twenty two years old. Okay for May that clears up like what your work is quite a bit. Yeah we just created the audiobook. Congratulations right now. We just audio book recording on you. Buddy we'll be producing that for you next year now like that. Sorry as cool so like I said I mean it just kind of gives you the background because there's a lot that goes into your work you know you got the book. You got the podcast. I feel like it's always fair that when the guests comes on some people just jumped straight into things and I think it's important for the guests to kind of you know understand their work where they're coming from where they're where they're creating value at so she's a point. That's why you know felt you know it was good to go over all that kind of stuff with you. What we're GONNA do now is we're going to jump into some of the The normal segment that we do on the show. The first one is trust issues For anyone WHO's not familiar with trust issues basically We have players or situations or You know kind of multiple choice things here of things that are going on our players that are going on and I'm going to just see how much we trust the situation. Basically so if you trust it a lot you know. There's no trust issues if you're concerned about it. You don't feel great about something. You KINDA WANNA back off of and there's just trust issues with it. so The first one we have here is Super Athletic College under producers drafted in the second round becoming a wide receiver one We're looking at guys like term McLaren. Deebo SAMUEL WE'LL Jordan start. You know you have trust issues with guys like these or do you. Trust THEM. Generally speaking so pedigree. Nfl draft pedigree. Such a huge deal in terms of looking at looking at wide receivers in particular. Like so you have to be really really selective day. Two guys And you know you'll you'll see about twenty five percent of them will hit But you have to be really you don't want to be in on a lot of these guys typically And so as a rule I almost fade them until they et Just because just because the hit rates are so low once they once they. It's a little bit different in terms of how I treat them But yeah guys like Terry maclaurin. I think you can sell I think you can kind of sell him Pretty I think you could sell him high at this point right now. I don't. I don't love the the long-term profile Deebo Samuel similarly situated. I mean he's He would be a player that I would probably be willing to move on. I didn't love the profile coming in as a twenty three year old rookie so You know I would probably be willing to to you. Know if you're getting twenty four. Adp Return on. That would be born to move off of that right now as interesting. I know the guys here are big fans of both those guys And Josh specifically we depot right Josh. So how'd you feel about what you were just with diva? It hurts me a little bit. I guess I guess it goes to the conversation about how much year one. Nfl production matters yet. So here's if there was if I was going to sort of go the flip side of that has sort of arguing against myself If you if there's a wide receiver on day two that has day to the NFL draft around to around three that produces a wide receiver. Three finish so between wide receiver twenty-five wide receiver thirty six and their rookie year. Historically they have one hundred percent hit rate of producing a top twenty four season at some point later in their career. So guys like guys like deebo would check that box terry. Maclaurin except box Sodas decay metcalf and so I think if you sort of were to take the opposite end of that like I think. That's a pretty good. The sample sizes huge. But I think that would be the You know where I would look to say..

NFL Week 8 Monday Night Football Betting Picks: Miami Dolphins at Pittsburgh Steelers

"Welcome in to the the board podcast powered by Fox bet week eight Monday night football edition dolphins steelers y'all are pretty excited for which would be a barn burner of a football game I'm your host firm joined by my colleague coast the one the only pain insider lots of enthusiasm I'm trying pain I'm not a premature whistle blower like we saw in Nashville but I still haven't positive mindsets get this thing going believe it you can achieve it and it wasn't the results were looking for either the college or professional football rain six but we persevere we continue to plow ahead and no we have a long season left in front of us so as we do every Monday we'll start the good the bad and the ugly we of course Dr Chow waiting in the wings to break down what the JJ watt injury means for the Houston Texans and he'll update us and some of our favorite quarterbacks the pain. Let's go glass half full what did you see this weekend that had you excited and brimming with optimism where do we start so much Scott the forty niners because I always leave things are more impressive when prior to the game it's not supposed to look that way so we a significant professional money come in on Carolina so it makes the win even more impressive to me personally because I just feel like they exceeded expectation and I managed and I think we both did here right to avoid this game now we dead value is certainly on Carolina like numbers wise right when you look at the number got six six and a half earlier in the week like Mason Rudolph was catching that same number in his first start ever on the road so value is I get it but I think we talked Thursday which is like a horrific matchup right Carolina doesn't have left tackle Bosa continues to like full-blown just eat out there I think he's got the highest pressure rate he's on pace to set the highest pressure rate for any rookie in NFL history right now kyle kind of talked about this the one above it average pass defense he played he struggled against earlier in the season which was Jacksonville the forty niners would obviously be even tougher than that he was the most inaccurate quarterback in terms of completion percentage expectation of sixteen percent below expectations the worst so far this week and we saw that at there wasn't very good can't stop the run we talked about that Cohen Short once he went out for the season and there was a big check mark there offensively from what I'm what I'm seeing from the forty niners is is Kyle Shanahan is just ahead of his time with what he's doing even though it's very basic right it's I think he's in this concerts jokingly kind of the real inventor of the exotic smashmouth right the ball is just like spread around there's all these interchangeable parts wide receivers are getting handoffs but like at its core it's very simple offense and I think the scary part here todd is like you look or seven and no right now in the NFC but they're without their left tackle there without the right tackle there without their versatile full-back call us check and I think I could wrong about this and it's probably not worth the money was paid but I feel like Jimmy G. has another gear that we haven't seen yet either which makes this forty-nine seem really scary well and I think some of that's got to be by design if you're Kyle Shanahan why reveal all your cards when you don't have to right now and then there's no doubt that Jimmy G. High profile passing attack is somewhere there I imagine as they can can you to build chemistry with Emmanuel Sanders able to get into the end zone and his forty niners debut it makes his team even scarier and I know pain we don't talk a lot about futures here because guys don't have access turn prices and you Never WanNa do hyperbole but right now when you look at the NFC or the forty niners the team to beat the more complete package outside of experience levels than the New Orleans saints tough to you obviously love with the saints are doing especially defensively that front seven has really taken another step I do feel like whoever gets home field advantage because the saints home field advantage so massive you'd give the you'd leaned that way with ever team had home field advantage certainly the games get a little bit tougher here in the next few weeks off for the forty niners so we'll see what they're made of but man ah X. still kind of leaned saints especially if they were the team that got home field advantage going to be interesting NFC playoff picture definitely a number of teams on their best day more than capable of putting up crooked numbers and more importantly getting stops on the defensive side but aside from the forty niners pain or are there any other teams and our individual performances that really stood out to you Daniel Jones right if you're a giants fan you have to pretty encouraged in whether you could've met seventeen or six I mean that's it's kind of a relevant at this point you know and I liked I saw accuracy wise again delivered a completion percentage five and a half percent greater than expectations four touchdowns no picks and I think that that last part there with the no picks is really impressive when you look at how aggressive he was six most aggressive quarterback in week eight so far obviously two games tonight but of all the quarterbacks that have played so far six most aggressive and the other thing is when you look at how he's doing it right now in general young quarterback he's been pressured a shit ton right forty six percent of its drawbacks pressured on the season most in the NFL among qualifying quarterbacks and he's this young young he hasn't flinched yet so I I really like I think you have to be happy for your giants fan of what the future could be with Daniel Jones so fantastic performance although in a loss did did get back door there so I know a lot of giants backers were happy that was the sharp side again closed five and a half some places so Daniel Jones got the pros money and look good again that he did one ill advised throw cost him dearly early in the game came back up the fumble yeah it was the fumble that probably could have gone I mean you it's a turnover no matter how you slice it but interception fumble just not sure he's doing it to throw but for anybody to watch that game was interesting there was a bad penalty at the tail end of the first half where the giants allegedly rough the ultimate leads the three for the lions and changed the dynamic a little bit in that context wonder if the giants would have actually had a chance to win that game outright if things had played differently but for alliance do nothing but bad luck I guess they wrote a break or two in that extra appointments made things a little wonky to some of the decision making it the nail to me how to chase a two and it's one of those things where you just start chasing points and you open that Pandora's box and if you don't convert things continue to create that downward spiral but a good performance from Daniel Jones you mentioned his second career game over three hundred yards four touchdowns then a nice job against a depleted lions secondary with the good I want to add one other into it of course it was in a losing effort Mike Evans yet again puts up Gargantuan numbers eleven catches hundred ninety eight yards and two touchdowns but one of those things that I'm not quite sure why the bucks don't look for Evans and crunch time when he was the stat stuffer all game long and the titans apparently had no answer in their secondary starting to get doubled a little bit dried movement of the slot to get them open and got doubled again so you know he had forty four percent of the buccaneers area are gesture die but obviously not enough however no you want to praise him and you probably didn't turn on the game quick enough but he did have the bad drop on the opening drive in the end zone the bucks were forced to settle for three instead of seven I did I did see that drop bring it up I do want to ask you about that when you throw through a little bit of congestion I know Matt Melons in your hands catch the ball all right so I wanted to find out so you your opinion is now well documented around Mike Evans if you're going to be elite God damn elite all right so that that's where I'm going with it was just really annoying game not going to complain right side wrong result and you go into halftime with the two hundred fifteen yards seventy one yard edge you trail that's a problem and then I thought we were gold right you fight your way back you blow you get up six late in the third quarter and then you know you hope officials can do their job good for Devon white by the way rookie did a fantastic job there sniff out fake laid to feel them out it was like a WWF and I believe they're wwe now but I'm old so wwf like a clothesline he just sent the snapper into orbit there in the all clearly comes out its return for a touchdown of course they blow their whistle so you can't you can't review it and it was a turnover on downs anyways because it was fourth down so said of a seven air when bucks up three with under Ford ago we were still down four in the problem is that you know you're not gonna your situation where it's four down territory or not kicking field goal to cover the spread for the good guys chase kicked to feel go forty eight yarder right through the UPRIGHTS two minutes to go get outta dodge with a one point loss single text bruce and eh lepers no team bet the board it's all about covering the number not winning games outraged good guy might have done it now if the good come the bad and this one is tough for me to kind of put down pain because I think they were very good for three quarters but it's the kind of game that you have to win on the road you're at the tail end of it's been a mammoth road trip the Oakland raiders finishing the game against Houston Texans were nearly two yards per play better as far as net is concerned and you look they did give up some penalty yards and everything else they had the football a lot less but they had an excellent chance to win the game on the road they outscored in the fourth quarter and to Shawn Watts and make some let real place to get the Texans the outright victory Deshaun Watson in Hopkins it's like the Russell Wilson Lockwood combination those two geysers like carrying goddamn franchise right now because Bill Brian is just continues to be a mess anyways I hate being singular play guy but you're one and you have a chance to kind of I don't WanNa say ice the game with your offense but certainly go up eight or if you decided to be a savage go for the to to put it up nine and there is a plan like second and six from the Houston twenty four in Gruden calls a run play and you'll lose a yard and now you're backed up to third wall and then you Veasley incomplete there and and you settle for a field goal only go for I love Josh Jacobs but the Texans Defense is superior against the run than it is pass in the Texans secondary isn't link absolute shambles with injuries right and they were down another starter who got injured in the game and as an offense you got tyrone Williams back and Jones who you trade four finally like kind of got into the fold now that he understands the offense after you were healthy as you've been at receiver like virtually all season attack the weakness man put it in the air instead then do that in that one specific drive could've put him up potentially two scores if they'd went for two and you rely on your defense against Watson and you got burn so to me there is some some mismanagement there was some playcalling late in that game as you kind of alluded to but they did blow sure well you mentioned mismanagement pain and it's funny you use such a word choice where do we want to go to Chicago bears and how they handled their performance against the chargers so I didn't watch the game because I couldn't dedicate enough time to it I'm GonNa go back and actually watch today it's one of those games that was really intriguing to me because guys that uh yeah I work with love the charger so much and they with the chargers plus four and a half and plus four I didn't see it so when there's games that's where my guys like adamant that this is the side and I don't see it myself on my I gotTa really pay close attention to this and because I have add I can't do that with like watching games so two one on and watch today but as I'm like tracking the play by play and now that I'm like looking at the data we just download it charges were not decide and we had this debate all week long and you may see something different but the charges were not decide but I'll let you share what you saw from the data I mean I'm just looking at just like two hundred and thirty one total yards of offense in the year two thousand nineteen on the road and you're only getting what would have been like three point two closing number I don it doesn't look like just by all the data that that was the right side

Football Houston Texans Nashville Dr Chow Carolina Scott Hundred Ninety Eight Yards Two Hundred Fifteen Yards Three Hundred Yards Forty Four Percent Forty Six Percent Seventy One Yard Sixteen Percent Three Quarters Two Minutes Two Yards

"The raiders rookie running back. Josh Jacobs coming up here in a moment. Paulie said he had a mind blowing not literally no okay mind-blowing Stat off last night's Game Cam Newton. We're talking about four th and one last night Cam Newton. His career was fourteen of seventeen in fourth and one rushing attempts in his career eighty two two percent. That's the best in the League the best including Tom Brady if you include third and one and fourth in one Cam Newton his career is eighty two of ninety two attemps uh-huh eighty nine point one percent that's by far the best of anybody in the NFL including running backs like Zeke Elliott in Adrian and Peterson. Tom Brady is eighty three percent on third and one fourth and one camnews eighty nine percent he is the single best fourth down and one third down in one running back in the NFL L. including running back or quarterback in the NFL. I know that we are results oriented business and and we looked at Christian McCaffrey running out of bounds on that play a you know he's GonNa look at that tape and he's going to go. I should have just cut. I could've cut back. He I think he made it and he was trying to outrun Tampa's defense instead of looking at what they were giving him and could have scored a touchdown. They're a lot easier than trying to beat everybody because you know what out of balance is. Is You know that's your friend if you're Tampa's defense if I push him to out of bounds then cut him off and I've got the angle on him but if he cuts up he scores a touchdown I. I still thought that Cam was going to get the ball I did. I this guy got the ball in the first week of the season scored a couple of touchdowns. He's Josh Jacobs Raiders running back back Josh Good Morning. How are you the morning I'm good. How are you did you get the game bowl I wouldn't necessarily say that Checkbook Oscar. Oh Okay so you got the game balls all right What did you think of your debut. I think I did all right a lot of yards on the table so it's a lot of things that I came into this week's practice with my set wise. It's a week now you played it Alabama so you're playing against guys who were future. NFL players but what was the big difference that you've found playing in the NFL NFL in your first week as opposed to plan in a big game with Alabama just that people are a lot smarter. speed is a little bit faster but it's really just a smart the guys in the NFL who surprised you the most. I always say von Miller what what surprised you about von Miller a lot of moves that he likes to the low-key fast fast as you know about that one okay all right. Did he talk. Do you yeah he was talking a little bit. He'll talk transporter so well. Did you say anything back not as laugh uh-huh. I just laugh funny to me when I watched hard knocks I. How did I not see on hard knocks very much. was that on purpose yeah actually as a Mike to not put me on so why am I really. I really didn't want any of the tension. I felt like it was a lot to me. just come in and just focus on one thing that's playing football learning my playbook fundamentals and all of that kind of stuff so. I just wanted to keep the main anything the main thing I guess as to not be on so that's how would you sum up the Antonio Brown situation with the raiders. If you were telling your buddies what would you tell them. I mean I would just tell them. I guess I mean. I don't know if it's a very complicated situation but it was crazy Josh every day you show up and something new right. I mean and we didn't really notice it on and so you what's like your phone or something you see me like we didn't really notice all the things that was happening while we can't lose focusing on get better as a team biggest difference between Nick Sabin and Jon Gruden is what Dr Don more funny it says but there's a lot of similarities of the way they like preparing. Oh and to certain so I'll probably say that's the biggest thing what's your favorite Nick Sabin Story. ooh See he could say now because you're not there he can't it can't punish you. Save this like he likes to do a lot of like these US jokes. It's funny because like you I haven't heard one of them since like middle school and then saving when I went to college to do a lot wait wait. Wait wait. What give me one here all right so one day I was testing. I caught five passes in a row. He was like he hey josh. If you WANNA hold out balk a hose es. I'll say this I sat back and I was like really wait. He was doing dis nuts to you. uh-huh yeah. I was like I ain't heard this. That's one of the great stories about Sabin. I've ever I heard wow dude. It's actually funnier than you did. He Yell at you he only other one on my whole my whole time there and what and why was that I got a slack Tony. Oh miss game and he got in your face yeah he he got up and Oh man we're talking to Josh Jacobs the raiders rookie running back. You know your life story is hard to tell in a a couple of minutes here but it's pretty amazing. Are They GonNa make a movie on your life. Have you heard anything about what I've been approached by a few people about doing it. I really haven't made up my mom. I WanNa do it so right now. Know How would you sum that up and I know it's not fair to you to just just give me kind of a cliff notes version of it but it's pretty amazing. Josh what you grew up and and you know the the man became and here you are in the NFL that those odds if you probably didn't think when you're sleeping in the car with your rest of your family and your dad that you're gonNA end up in the NFL. I'm guessing I mean yeah most definitely. I mean like I was telling him. I never thought really the NFL was go honestly getting my college was the biggest thing for me and so just being with opportunities to go without having like really any looks or anything like that and so two weeks before Sandra Day I mean this is just it's a blessing but how would you sum up what your life was like for. Somebody who is just being introduced to you. I was saying my life hi. This is a very hard growing up being kids and a single parent home just struggling the some bit sometimes you know saying struggled to get things. I mean and then at that being under recruited I mean it's just like every time every time you wanted to take a step down so I'd say that's probably just the biggest thing growing up you just the AH lifestyle that kind of thing into fill in some of the gray area here that Josh and I and I know you're humble and maybe you don't WanNa talk tired of talking about it but you know you're you're there with your dad and I think a chevy suburban and he's got a gun. That's on his lap as you guys sleep. You never saw your dad eight beat. You weren't sure when you were eating how you're eating. Does that kind of a fair assessment of of what was going on. I mean yeah. I'm The all autumn things type and it's a lot more stuff there. I didn't even include their weight on and that was just like aspect of our lifestyle. He's moved hotels tails motels and and won't bear so definitely a difficult if I told you one of those days hey hey you're going to be the starting running back for the Oakland raiders. What would you have said to me. I probably would look at you laugh. Who did you grow up rooting for. I didn't have a favorite team. I I never had a favorite team. I was just kind of life. God their favorite players well. It's a great story and you know whether you WanNa make a movie or not. I'm sure you're going to get you know. People are going to look at this as you know. The blindside was certainly moving and emotional but I think this might be something even bigger than that so and you might hear from coach. Saban after the these nuts story. They're just I'm just saying saying Josh. He might have coach go josh. Let's don't do g's nuncio anymore. I good luck against Kansas City and all oh and by the way the last time he ever have to run on that godforsaken field there the Oakland Coliseum right yeah no yeah that's such a bad field. Oh Man I can't imagine what does that feel like when you get tackled on that field feel like rock it might be. Josh might be running on rocks. Hey you're a great story to root for and we'll certainly keep an eye on on this rookie season. Thank you for joining US thank you that's Josh Jacobs Raiders Rookie running back round of applause for Josh Jacobs that is just okay when he when when he said dis nuts I didn't hear it and then I thought man it sounds like he said these nuts and then Paulie said in my ear. I said he's nuts. We all looked at each each other because he the way he dropped it. In what kind of guys Nick Saban's he funny right yeah well Excuse you great excuse me yeah like he says a desk to hold onto all the balls. Don't you hold onto these Nick Sabin. I know Yes for you know. I'm GonNa win the Emmy this year but I got the submission reading yeah. I think that should do it yeah. Uh The now I have coach Sabin on and say coach. Could you give me a decent not stroke. Keep confirmed that story tough transition by you going from Nick Sabin in these nuts to tell me about living in your call. I know nobody Yup. That's me I mean I think there's a whole lot more to his life growing up and even when he got to Alabama he the first couple of months. He slept on the floor. He had a bed obviously in the dorm but he slept slept on the floor. He was more comfortable doing that because that's what he had been doing all of his life and the fact that his dad he said he never saw his daddy and he said maybe you you know he was just making sure that the family eight in the back that they would sleep in a car and his dad would have a gun with him on his lap as they slept throughout the night but nobody wanted him and they wanted to make him a defensive back. TCU said we'll we'll bring you in and make you a cornerback and he said Said No. I WanNa be I WANNA be a running back and one of the assistant coaches said there were one thousand other players that they recruit that were just like him and then Nick Sabin kept going. Why isn't anybody recruiting this guy and then they went and saw him and then they decided to give him a scholarship. Then he bumped up to a three star he we had he had no stars say no star recruit and then they bumped him up to a three star recruit because Alabama was recruiting him so good for him in hopefully has a successful career. We'll take a break. We got our play the day coming up and stat of the day as well. We'll settle on a poll question so a lot out of things to get to right after this and the Damn Patrick Show every car comes with its share stories right that Ding and.

"That performance or lack thereof by Christian McCaffrey last night certainly calmed down the best running running back in football talk. That didn't take long. You know the field conditions that didn't help either and you had the camera issues social media. It was all over Fox but you know I. I thought I heard Joe Block. Say Look because of lightning. We can't have our camera guys out there. I thought he was saying that early and and I thought that that was evident early. In the game prior to the game of the you know the conditions out there and then you got the all twenty two and then you've got the one on from behind the quarterback and I like I was okay with it. I was waiting for that other. You know there's always another camera angle. That's a little bit tighter up above and I was he's waiting for that but people went crazy and then Joe Buck came back on and basically said hey twitter calmed down. We can't put people out there. If there's going to be lightning these conditions yeah Paulie well. I think a lot of people when Joe Buck I got there said yeah our camera. People couldn't be out there because of the weather. I don't think he was clear enough where you said there's only two cameras cameras for this game initially so when those first two cameras are the only shots people is this is this new experiment. NFL Network what are you doing and you know what's interesting after what happened last week with ESPN and they're yellow down in distance marker people were trying to wag the dog saying I hope NFL looking at this make a change right now before four jokes playing that it was a weather issued only to Availa camera people just wait to rip Joe Buck. They're just waiting for a reason like what what's the reason we can rip Joe Buck I'M GONNA blame Joe for the weather by the way troy. Aikman didn't mince words last night when the CAM under through his wide receiver now he now he hit him but you know Curtis Samuel he hit him but he under through him and the camera angle didn't show that that you know properly operative therefore you're going. Oh he hit his wide rece or you know whatever you're calling you know samuels but he he hit the target but he that would have been a touchdown aikman goes. Oh that would have been six if he actually threw it correctly and I don't know I don't know what cam is feeling when he's there. I don't know if you'll ever be one hundred under percent not with the shoulder other parts you can be one hundred percent or close to it with a shoulder man. That's tricky. It's really really really tricky. Poll question mclovin. What do you have for me today. Okay if I give you every number one overall pick quarterback. WHO's currently in the NFL who right now is the best quarterback now this starts in two thousand nine with Stafford two thousand ten Bradford is out of the game right now. Cam Newton luck is out of the Game Winston Goff Baker Mayfield Ocala Murray so who out of that group Stafford Stafford. It's now Goff you would take golf over Stafford right if you had one I mean Goff's numbers are way bigger than yeah. No no no no no now yeah see now. You don't get your coach. We're just talking about talent while then if you're looking at talent you're saying a hell not right now. I don't know if you'll be healthy Baker. I I don't know yet I don't know yet. That's a good one. I mean Stanford is probably going to the hall of fame. People are so confused on Stafford. How good is that staffer feel after ten years. We still don't know well aw he's one of those guys that we probably won't know from the standpoint of. He's played on bad teams now. If you gave me Sean mcvay with Stafford then we might have a different conversation but Matt Patricia with Matthew Stafford and all the other coaches that he's had over the years I would say stafford is still uh he would be the best he would be the best quarterback. I don't know about Kyle Mary Baker Mayfield. I think I know Cam nine as we move forward unsold on that yeah. I'm GONNA preface with a scene O'Connor. No Offense Matt Stafford is not going to the hall of fame. You don't think so as of right now no he. He is UH has a losing record as a quarterback and you get tagged for that. You get if it's a winning record. You get credit. He's sixty six and seventy five star. I know it's the browns but he might put up such huge numbers yeah but that's the only ways making it right but his numbers are great but there's a lot of guys now with his numbers. He's averaging the past four years twenty. Johnny Five Twenty seven touchdown passes year twenty seven touchdown passes year is in great anymore and the last great year he had he had thirty two touchdown passes in two thousand fifteen to you had forty one that was nine years ago eight years ago. He is also and three in the playoffs as of right now. Let's say he retired two years from now on this cartoon years from now no no but if he plays five more years but like let's say finish with sixty thousand. We're not GONNA make a big deal of six. I I'm just saying right now. I think the pace is off for him. I I think the lions are going to look at this and say what a lost opportunity that you had a really good quarterback or put potential. It's like the quarterbacking version of Calvin Johnson where you go gosh this guy. He looked like he he was everything. You want a franchise quarterback they just they didn't surrounding with anything yet. mclovin Jared Goff's only twenty four been to a super bowl already was in the MVP. I know he's had a couple couple of great years. He's in a crate situation satellite. Get Sean McVeigh the Rams Offensive Line and all of those weapons. I totally know what you're saying but I've Ibom. I bomb like wait. Are we disrespecting off and yeah. I think people are gonNA vote Baker. Do I'm not disrespecting him but I have to look at his situation. It's like Patrick Mahomes if you if you put him with Detroit. Are we talking about him. Have we switched seats. That's my system argument the justice system QB argument. Are you know you know what I am a system with talent if you have a system with talent and then I understand that okay okay by your said if mahomes is in Detroit. Are we talking about no. We're not because he's not surrounded by so he has talent and coaching so the system this to me as well. Let's draft some good players and have a good coach who knows how to make a quarterback better. Wow what a novel approach here yeah exactly with Kansas City. He's not putting up. Yes that's exactly what I think. I think if Joe Montana been drafted by the cardinals he wouldn't have been Chit. I think the Tom Brady set himself. If I was drafted by Arizona my career might have gone a totally different way. It's it's it's tough all right so what's poll question washed and we're. GonNa get that number one overall another question I had by the way and this is kind of snarky mean whose future when you buy in the AFC East if you took the patriots out. Would you buy the jets future. The bill's future the dolphins future who gets to a super bowl. I had at that trio. One team is cursed. The jets yes one team is all time tanking the dolphins and then then they're the bills which I'm not sure what to make. What feels like the bills are the best of those three but that's like saying much yeah but are are. They good enough to get great now. That's really the the key in Miami now. Minka Fitz Patrick is been given granted permission to seek trade and I I know I mean he was drafted eleventh overall. You're not going to get the same value in return but Miami's if if they were unofficially tanking their officially tanking now if you get rid of Fitzpatrick and maybe he's not a great player but on Miami he is and here's another thing you're gonNA have have. I'm looking at all these draft picks. Let me see what we got with Miami. So you have the dolphins twenty twenty draft picks they they have their own first round and the Texans a second their own in the saints third their own and projected compensatory pick their fourth their own and the titans another compensatory pick fifth round and then their own and cowboys pick they also have the Texans first and second round picks in twenty twenty one and as I pointed out many times on this show you can have a lot of draft picks but if you don't know how to draft raft then it doesn't matter and I look at the dolphins and say if I'm to talk. I don't WanNa go to Miami. You just got rid of Mike Mike Tackle Laremy Tunsil and now fitzpatrick so young players and you're letting them go in and now you want me to come in and be your savior. I if I'm I'm going you know tank for somebody else. Don't tank for me stated Bama mortality. Maybe all of you know get my degree in transfers for some place but and why would you WanNa go to Miami and in. How long does IT TAKE FOR MIAMI. D be good could get crushed in the first couple of years there but I you know makeup. Fitzpatrick is and I guess he can't find a position where he wants to play a position. They keep moving moving around and he's he's a good defensive back. Yeah mclovin is this the same as the process with the sixers feel similar okay. If I'm a Miami me Fan. I don't show up. I mean I might show up just to see the Patriots to tell my grandkids. Hey I got to see Tom. Brady but I would take the a year off if I am a dolphins fan if the dolphins are taking the year off. I'm taking the year off. How about that go to a sports bar. Yanks still fly your colors. Watch the red zone at home but I would not support a team. That doesn't care about me and they're going to tell you hey. We're trying to build something special here okay. It's been a while since you build something special here. This is a team that won seven games last year and you might go okay and maybe that was the ceiling for them. Seven was as good as they were going to get because they brought in a new coach so it wasn't good enough to keep coach. You're not sure who your quarterback is and now you're GONNA tank. Hey come on out and watch the dog. How do you promote the dolphins locally. How do you say hey we're eighteen point underdogs against the Patriots. If we cover the spread come on out I'd take.

"Newton struggled Winston just a little bit better. Tampa's defense was really good now. It seems like both quarterbacks are at a crossroads. Jameis Winston Winston is future you brought in Bruce Arians. He's the quarterback whisper. Can he see enough out of Jameis Winston where they decide to give him a long term. Contract as Forest Cam Goes Kenny reclaim that MVP form that he had in two thousand fifteen and the jury is certainly out and you'd probably be a little sceptical if he's able got to do something like that doesn't look like he's completely healthy. I did talk to somebody a source last night. WHO said that CAM is healthier than people think he's not as confident as people think and I went confidence. You don't get put on the injury list with confidence there so that's where I was like okay seems like Cam is always always competent overly confident but eric couple of passes last night that he under through some receivers. I still look at that shoulder the ankle injury injury. We're reminded there's no sure thing when it comes to quarterbacks number one overall picks in general Andrew Luck retired Baker Mayfield great as a rookie struggled in week. One against Tennessee Jared Goff can look great and then he can look average. I don't know if the experts are sold on these number one quarterbacks. All all of these guys are a subtle reminder takes more than talent to be consistent at that position and it's a brutal league lessen. The top picks have learned in recent years. There was a moment there late in the game where I thought Cam was going to get the ball. He's the biggest guy on the field and they decided that they were going to lineup lineup on the wildcat formation with Christian McCaffrey who was shut down the entire game here is Ron Rivera they head coach of the panthers on why the quarterback sneak wasn't the first option the reasoning the.

I read your story the other day I'm Josh Jacobs the rookie running back I'm in for a running back room that they've tried to solidify over the last few years from the the Marshawn Lynch acquisition to figuring out what they do with the guys they brought on in two thousand sixteen and figuring out rules for them what can the raiders expect in half from Jacobs and how big of a role is he going to have in this offense white is the way they look at it is that he got a lot of tread left on our tires because you're talking about a guy who carried the ball only two hundred fifty one time total in college he only had one game in college where he carried the ball as many as twenty times so you've got a lot of tread on the tires but you also wonder how you gonna react to being hit in an NFL game if you sign and it was a small sample sizes that second exhibition in Arizona where their starters played one series you look good on all his vision was uncanny he was using the the cut back ability was was pretty good and he was either running around people are running over people in the you know yet twenty yards in his first three Kerry so it looks good again it was the cardinals and it was a preseason game but they're they're looking at him as the feature back and I think you get a healthy dose of the Andre Washington as well the spelling but other than that he has to keep the Bronco edge rushers honest otherwise it could be a long night for Derek Carr be trying to look down field because you got their Waller's the tight end is kind of a hybrid receiver and an anti Williams the former charger with years of the. need they need a Josh Jacobs to keep our job and and Bon Miller honest. a great stuff Paul it's going to be a heck of a season for you as you keep following that is so good luck and and Godspeed. ladies thank you have a good year as he has been raiders raiders reporter tune into the down and distance podcast hosted by Ivan Maisel commemorating the one hundred fiftieth anniversary of college football download subscribe and review down and distance available wherever you enjoy your podcasts IT spending companies there's been Courtney Cronin come at a former patriot doesn't sound confident that Antonio brown will last the season the New England it's next yes paean radio. get off to a good start on a long way to go all the things we can still keep working on get better at yeah players are ready to go and I did a good job we can get back to the drawing board going to see where zero. this is Spain and company. time show podcast when.

AB reacts to fines from Raiders, has new helmet

"We have to address a couple more here. We're gonna start in with exactly what is going on in oakland oakland with antonio brown's so many things have happened. It's hard to keep track of and hard knocks being there to help the situation for the raiders in dealing with their star wide receiver and the various antics surrounding him the helmet issue has been well documented for some time for those who don't know antonio browns helmet that he has used his entire career was deemed illegal by the n._f._l. It wasn't safe enough for antonio so he decided to filed a suit saying that he wasn't enough time to adequately find a helmet. He likes to wear for the games. He filed two different grievances. Both it did not fly with the n._f._l. And he lost both of them so he has had to find a helmet he has reported to camp the newest thing being he has has been fined by mike mayock general manager for missing so much time with the team. Antonio brown has stated how upset he is about these fines being levied on on him but frankly i love antonio brown's charisma. I love the way he uses the media to help him and you got to think about the raiders in with hard knocks with everything around their team right now media wise. There's a lot of scrutiny jon gruden being signed that ten year one hundred million dollar contract trading khalil mack trading amari cooper everyone in the n._f._l. Media is trying to keep tabs on what's going on in oakland and antonio brown by taking taking so much of that media heat. He has really made it easier for guys like p._j. Hall arden key cleveland feral jonathan abrams josh jacobs all these rookies and second year players that really have some potential have not had to deal with this media blitz because antonio has been there to kinda shield them from that and on that side i think that the raiders as an organization as a fan base need to thank antonio brown for taking that heat off of their other players so they can develop and really dig into the system not having to worry about media relations however now with this new grievance hopefully it's nothing between antonio brown and mike mayock. They can just move past. It's obvious that he had to get fined for missing so much time with the

"Again. It's you know a lot of it is depending on where you draft because if you go receiver receiver you're going into back into the third round. You know that that's a good spot to take Jacob's as as one of your first you guys but it's you know if you're comparing him to some of the receivers in that range like I. I don't want to speak for you but I know you take brandin cooks over him. Oh for sure robber woods over yeah formats. Obviously you know dependent here but you know it just depends on how you want to build your team. It's just a matter of how much you invest in those you know second or third. Wherever you WANNA put career wise you know those running backs <hes> especially somebody like Jacobs whose unproven both at the collegiate level to a certain extent and obviously at the N._F._l.? devante Freeman or Josh Jacobs Freeman Freeman Josh Jacobs Philip Lindsay Dick Jacobs just barely but I think they should both be at the end of the fourth that it was a pretty good heat side. "That's how would feel to me if I pass on her. Another running back here door two and half to make Kenyan Drake of the Miami Dolphins in my running back once stored good. Yeah. I won't do it. You can just I was kill me. All right. I would take Jacobs here. Yeah. We good because I'm with you. Well. Ranking Mahomes right after Josh Jacobs, AJ greens, fund digs, Derrick Henry, this is where I think a tough decision comes. For me for us now. You. It's not for you because you wanna say Julia element is one hundred percent. Correct. You want to go three out of the I four at. Wide receiver position. Yeah. At this point for running backs I'm looking for guys who they're going to catch the ball. So why Julian adamant over the likes of Robert woods? Jillian Ataman folks, let me I could pull up the exact where he was. But Julian Eshelman was after he had returned from his suspension last year was the wide receiver eight and he, he's he is the awfully extended yet, newly extended this, this is not. They think that so much taller. Now they pulled him they extended him out what six four now. Is that right? They got the San Francisco taffy machine that that really works out. Those muscles, just Paul just Balsam. Yeah. He was the wide receiver eight in this offense. It's still going to run through Jillian. They don't they do not think that he is washed and they're not moving on from a reliability standpoint. Someone might say, look robber. Woods is a better selection here. Great offense. Jason, you love Robert woods. If you stare down Elman in woods, do you take out, man in a full p p r I think I do take Ataman. I mean, Robert woods is a handwriting full in my half PR rankings. But I think that the consistency the fact that you had half of last year without coober Cup. I like both guys I would be fine with either and I agree that in a three wide receiver flex league. I would go with a third wide receiver here because you're, you're looking at going. Okay. Do we take the running back because we feel we need a running back because, you know, we do we've got one in his rookie. But the running back is far less talented that we're going to be taking here, if it's Kenyan Drake or someone like that versus a top, you know, a wide receiver one quality player as our third wide receiver starter. I think is part of me that is just curious. What are running back core is gonna look like later in the draft with such commitment, and it'll be von PR. So we'll go with Ataman. That's fine Julio Jones, juju Smith Schuster. And Julian Ataman is ridiculous. If Joe ma'am very happy. Joe mixing could have slipped three picks. And we could have had him as Rb one instead of Josh Jacobs. He only needed to slip one really. He was picked. Right. But then we went have juju. No, I said, if he slipped into the third round he went one after juju. But if one before June, the second, I believe he went, you're lucky, I'm so I was looking the wrong direction. You're absolutely right. Makes sense. Follow the snake. Yeah, it is. So we took Julian Ataman. Robert woods went to picks later golladay off the board. Some other highlights of this round Brandin cooks went at the eighth pick Kenyan Drake. See later four oh nine ahead of Philip Lindsay ahead of David Montgomery. So Jason other owners thinking like you did incorrectly Cooper dirty going. Andrew luck ornery today. Lockett's burying 'cause I don't like Drake. Yeah burying Drake. I look, I think he's a talented musician. I think he can call me on the cell. Cell phone joke. Anything? The only the only Drake reference, he can pull out. All right to recon. Interesting PR player for sure. Probably value there at five oh to Andrew luck. And Aaron Rodgers go off the board in this round and then some of the most difficult players to draft in a PR league win..

"And worked with athletes around the city, giving back Ichiro bodies around here. It's, it's all part of that process or build up because the cheer was definitely louder with Golden Knights. I'm no joke. It was it was allow, he couldn't hear yourself think when they give them win. Were there announced you? You could hear me hear yourself talk. I mean, what do you make of that? You said they have to grow their fanbase and the raiders have done already so much a lot to connect with immunity the community, but it's not done there. They have a lot of time. They have a lot of time to build those connections here in southern Nevada and within within the season, perfect timing, there's going to be different watch parties in different events popping up different ceremonies that we're going to have to do to connect with the stadium different giving back events. Charity events just community outreach. Oh, I do think we're more more met in the more that the, the raiders are seeing on our communities faces in front of their faces. I think that the cheers were just grow louder with time. And when you get more ws on the on the board, same. But I do know this, I do know that whilst Vegas is not. Spoilt when it comes to the sport. World hasn't been, it was a drought for a very long time in, we only had a minor leagues force wishes. No distant him at all because any scored in gracious have, but with the raiders, this is a whole new form of humble to, like, because we're so humble yet, so grateful because we were allotted to have a professional NFL team. First time ever in. It's the raiders of all teams. I mean it could have been the Jaguars. You know, we still would've loved them them, but we love them like, oh, excuse me, as me NSA, we as a community are really grateful of the raiders, and I think that, like I said time time in a few more ws, which we will see the season in Ivette you next time it will be a screaming match. Against the raiders in the nights. You're I do know the softball event, they wanna have it every year in this is only first year, end was sold out. And but. One thing they did have here those different than other events like one October where they already in some other small raiders players at metro as well. Drive around the city one big difference here. They had big name players Trent Brown John Abraham. They also had Josh Jacobs. Do we mentioned earlier and they had these big name players? They add. Rodney lot. They had these big name players. And that's one of things that I think needs to have bring out these stars of people who see the stars are you the face of the franchises in order to cheery reloaded for them biz? It's hard to give higher team when you see players every day who I'm planning because why do on watch them if that's you met met them, but they're not playing you need to have the face of the franchise ear to show them. Ooh. You really are. I mean do you agree with that standpoint? I do agree with sample. But I do think it's also good for a bike all of the rates for the fans to be personable board the roster. I do think that the larger celebrity in the larger players do bring bring out and draw more of a crowd. So for advertising purposes in for the quantity are filling the seat, I would think that but they did have a soda event in. Got a few a few pretty good players. So I mean with any any players will will take some support because that's just that's just another way for the community to connect with raiders that they don't necessarily know in connect the dots..

Have you checked out the stadium? What do you think? I mean this is my first time in Vegas. They started building the stadium. But every time I go come I, I gotta go look at it, it made a lot of progress and not by. Of angus. What you think of the inventor city city. Obviously is one of the craziest cities in the world. But it actually has a chill side interest. Coming out here to this is more to I kinda liked. It has definitely is somewhere where I would think I play in the mall and stay when obviously come. And so they've been. What was your favorite part of this ball? Bard part is probably I'll be just the back and forth teams. I mean we did a lot all day of seated a little bit of. And before you came out here to see. Yeah. I looked at a lot of houses. In honestly, I don't know if I said it is, but this is going to be my first house that officially by so big. Around here. Deferred assign a bonus into next year next. So when I get someone up our house, it's going to be a big. Taylor. You for him out of your but he's moving down towards the practices. Need the practice? I have seen started like sitting on and I'll see models but I haven't really disliked went out there but. Whole thing is going to be told like they put a lot of money into it. This is definitely gonna be like college environments. Great. On. A B. The biggest. I guess, entertainment. On this has still fans Vegas. Avoid for nights. Coming out. Unstated with. View as a raider at King's College team. It is definitely, though, you like you said, bringing him out the sewing him, like how much he loves the city and how much the city laws him. I mean it's been huge. I'm just ready to leave my Mark. This coming year. What's without marshawn Lynch is here? Earning. All big. Because I would say that he showed me the ropes a little bit. But honestly, everybody in a room is being like a brother to me. They also want me to wrote of so I don't know how big it would necessarily be. But it's definitely been I'll definitely appreciated it. I'm definitely happy and blessed to be a part of. John, during his long long-term out. Big is that supports yet, statement in college, and he was There there. is news, because, you know that you're gonna have a coach, you know, somebody that depend on, but it's actually used for me because he's somebody that actually cares somebody that's actually invested in me from day one. He's been told me is facing things. Meaning be sorry standard that I that I like he pushes me every day, just wanna be better on. So I mean I love I love to organize. The whole closing. By the. In vegas. Team. You guys experienced. Vegas is definitely more than strip. Vegas has a lot of beauty thought. Thought. Vegas has a lot of other things going on, on of recognize like they built this new stadium. Beautiful. Place. Definitely. Come on. I'm just happy to be a part of. On the of course. On what he did you know that. Vegas extending to this link. All over extended this idea because I've been here before her. That's the only reason why did is definitely bigger than a lot of people dates in his hotter than life. Say I mean it's definitely been fine. We're going to be a craziest moons. So anaya. Yeah. "Now, let me tell you them Abrahams and Jacobs. Boy, they better be sure he'll raise skip. Because you see what Amari Cooper is doing? And you see what Khalil Mack Stewart and you had those guys on your roster. I don't like this. I wanna hear what you got groomed. One guy. So I'm gonna see if you give love get under be objective about this. As opposed to the guy who doesn't like Jon Gruden across the table. And I'm going to get his overall first round three picks of B A B. Yep. And I wanna go to the bottom. I I love Josh Jacobs. Every time I saw him all year in tormented me it haunted me that my Oklahoma Sooners failed to recruit him out of Tulsa, Oklahoma while Nick Sabin swooped in and said, I'll take him. Thank you very much. Okay. Because every time Josh Jacobs touched the football for your crimson tide. He looked bee's modish to me because we're talking about five ten two hundred and twenty pounds of attitude. We're talking about running with force and fury. He is knees and elbows, it's beasts modish. And I think raiders fans will fall in love with Josh Jacobs who has a little chip on his shoulder because he was under recruited coming out of high school, and then he had to play in Daming Harris's shadow for a while. Last year report is give you put he put his video you too. Decrees own website and high school is on Twitter account attention. Right. Okay. So I like that pick. Okay. And again, I'm just going off television, watch coaches tape. But every time I turned on Mississippi State last year. Jonathan Abram jumped off the screen to me because he is fast, and he is physical. And he is relentless he is all over the football field. Any smart? He's high Q. I think he's getting a second degree now at Mississippi State and so I- character high motor Josh Jacobs. High motor Amari Cooper, lower motor Khalil Mack motor run. Sometimes what about okay, we'll how'd you said gruden's guys? These are gruden's got and again is can I say they're going to be better than Khalil Mack and Marc Cooper. No. But they're his guys, and he wants to do it his way. So he's on the clock. He's still on the clock. He's on the biggest clock. He's on the the the get fired clock. Even though he's got a ten year deal. Okay. I have always been a Cleveland fan from the time. He was a redshirt freshman starting and I must tell you maybe I formed in early impression that lasted for me because I saw dominating for a while. But I cannot I can't argue with your point because last year is third year starting I started like Christian Wilkins, a little better than Cleland because Cleland was a little quiet last year to my taste. But as quiet as he was last year. I'm just gonna remind everybody clue in furrow won the Ted Hendricks award for the nation's best defensive end last year. He was ACC defensive player of the year. Is that good? That's pretty good. Right. He was a two time. First team all American that play..

But anyway, the point is I I I thought was fascinating how much they have made this into a spectacle. And the thing the ABC show was trying to do wasn't really about Xs knows a football. It was about dreams. Come true. It was very Disney. It was like he's this idea that these guys I mean, there was one of these kids like grew up in the back seat of his dad's car, right? So I mean, if it's not a big of a burden as some people may think that said when you do get your first professional contract. What is the first thing you're going to buy for your dad? Josh have you thought about that? Honestly, don't know. Honestly don't know I'll probably on I'll probably pay his rent for a couple of years or something like that. Oh, no. So let's let's talk about Josh Jacobs here on on the rich Eisen show who have you met with which teams. Do you think are interested in you here? Josh a week out of the draft of I met. We the eagles are met with the ravens and I've met with the coats. Those are the three teams that you have met with like in terms of flown out doubt dinner, the whole the whole shebang. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I mean, those are three teams that would you you'd fit you certainly would fit in. I just in reading about you to Josh you've been described as a runner who runs pissed off. I haven't what's going through your temples right now week away from the NFL draft. Josh. On a soaking this whole process, honestly. What are you soak in? Just in the media side of and meeting with teams and just traveling and seeing a lot of things of is definitely huge. I'm in new New York right now doing a media tour. What's your guy? Jeff DEA in Jeff to d mother. Yeah. So the NFL network he's following me around. Jeff's following you right now, his Jefferson room right now is eating the roommate right now. Yeah. Will you tell him to back off that this is my moment. Josh, would you tell them just telling that right now from rich is he say don't take out a good come on. Just. Okay. So basically, the NFL network is watching you be interviewed by guy who who's been with the NFL network since day one. That's basically what's right now. He's a lot of NFL network. All right. So Josh, let's get into your your story here. Is it true that you had to post your own highlights to Twitter to get noticed by colleges that affect? Yes. That is. In fact, what? What what what led you to do that? So a random guy that takes his name of cozy Smith he hit me up. And he's like he's stumbled upon a highlight or whatever. And he's like, I don't understand why you're not getting credit, but you should make a Twitter and push knowledge is like I'm gonna help you get recruited and then like two or three days later. "Four of Oklahoma on the ground a Harris, he'll pick up a couple more. Now, the time out to be called. It's a third, and let's say a long three for Alabama upcoming clock stopped at two forty six left. And Oklahoma will be able to stop the clock. One more time trailing by. Well, this game started out twenty eight nothing, and I think Oklahoma showed a lot coming back. I mean this team taking on the personality of their head coach Lincoln Riley. But they didn't go quietly. They could have very easily got blown out of the stadium. But they continue to battle to fight and looks like they're gonna come up short. But outstanding season for Oklahoma. I confess to not knowing everything about the quarterback rating to it's under by lowest quarterback rating. Get to thirty six point seven. I know that's excellent. That's really good. When that's rated against the big twelve defensive like one hundred and fifty. That you have after thirty six anything. No, no. I may have total rushing yards in my career. When you add it up. Two fifty left here. Third down in three. It's Tunga by low and keep it he'll cross the first down yardage necessary. And take a seat. And I think Oklahoma will stop the clock. I doubt it will stop the clock change still have that one time out their pocket. They wanted us to forty three left. And now the clock is widening very heady play by Taco Bell. Oh, I don't think that Oklahoma was anti disciplining him with that hobbled wheel running in this situation. That's why was the perfect called by Mike locks. Loxley on his way to Maryland, whatever Alabama season ends like the loved one more game to play all the ground Damian Harris, he'll pick up a couple two fifteen left. And now the clock will stop Oklahoma will use that last time out to fourteen left. There'll be a second out. We're going to find out if the bold move Dabo Sweeney of of making the move from Kelly Bryant Trevor Lawrence is gonna pay off as was certainly good in the game today against Notre Dame. But he hasn't faced a defense like Alabama either. But the lights went out to bright for that. True freshman. No, I think the difference between clemson's offense, and what we've seen tonight from Oklahoma given Markey's browse not healthy. But t Higgins is a superstar, and Alabama's gonna have issues dealing with him. You mentioned it not enough credit goes to the Alabama defense. They held this Oklahoma unit to thirty four. That's still a couple touchdowns under their season average. Bama just went over five hundred yards in total offense for the game. So it's all good for the top ranked crimson tide. Second down and eight ball thirty-five. Clemson all the ground is Josh Jacobs. Who's carried the mail, but the most part he has a first down and that could end this game. Oklahoma cannot stop the clock again. No, number one seed has won the college football championship in the first four years of the playoff. Alibaba looked fix that as well. Hooked up with Clemson on the seventh of January Santa Clara. I think we can put the rest who's the best offense in college football this year too. Based on what's happened here in this game. It's it's clearly Alabama crimson tide. And you know, they wanted that on their mantle. Yes, that was that was definitely an issue. All the ground. Josh jacobs. Still rotted taken out of the six yard line. I'm nineteen on the play. He didn't want to just sit down. Two more yards. Why not? You think they're going deal on it? I know some are more interested in that than others. Be as friends like say a significant touchdown to some. Sixty five seconds left the game. It's first down and goal. I think they're gonna remember the six yard line. Taking a lot of time in the in the huddle here. I think they're going to kneel on Brian Robinson has just checked in Greece. Victory formation. Classy? We'll take a knee. They'll offer snap at one more time. But alabama. They will go to fourteen and. A brilliant season. One more need to lower. Who will not be the backup going into the championship game? He will not have to rescue Alabama the second half. He'll get the start from the opening kickoff as opposed to one season ago. Was final seconds tick off the clock. And that'll do it. Final scores. Alabama forty five Oklahoma thirty four to talk about Lola. He missed on just three passes twenty four or twenty seven three hundred eighteen yards touchdowns and no interceptions. Down Todd mcshay with defensive stars for the crimson tide. According to jump out on this team forty-eight nothing gonna take them out of their the rhythm early on. What were you able to do? The quarterback all. Abedin a quarterback and every time we can do. Vegging out the helmet on. Your game proved so much this year for year ago. What what was it? Lee. Learn everything I want to learn what I wanna do that doing everything. Oh, no. Learn they're willing to be great. Thank my team. The head coach and general. Any early thoughts on another match up in the championship or cousin? Clemson. What do all that stuff? But we were about the bigger right now here about the whole. Everybody agreed regulations. Thank you, Tom pointed Williams, either Totten's leading acquitted down that road again. Save some bulletin board. Material about clips in the Quinta wasn't gonna fall for that. So. Think about what he thinks about Kyle Murray right now when Williams wanna stars for that Alabama defense. Well, he's right. They affected the quarterback. There's no question about it. And that first quarter they were in the backfield on just about every play every snap. I mean, he took off the helmet of Cuyler Murray for crying out loud. Took his head off. And I know from experience that affects you when you're playing quarterback in your lap consistently. I think that's a big reason why kinda Murray didn't have his best game tonight. Sweet home Alabama blaring in the background the crimson tide out of the SEC the number one she they will advance on. And they will meet Clemson be their third meeting of the national championship gave in just the last four years. It'll be the rubber match if you will. Each team won one previous game. And Clemson will come in feeling good about themselves all blowing the doors off a Notre Dame today. Thirty two three Goodyear. Cotton Bowl classic Trump stood on fire as well. And if this if this offense for Alabama plays the way they did tonight and Tako obviously comes into better defense. But Clemson has some issues in the secondary as well as specific specifically at the safety position where I think Alabama can really exploit them with the speed of Jerry, Judy. Jalen,.
