Nine Pharma CEOs Commit to the “Integrity of the Scientific Process” in COVID-19 Vaccine Trials
"Breaking news out of the former suitable sector. Let's get to make. Good Morning. Good Morning Joe Nine. CEO's of some of the largest drug companies in the world announcing they've signed onto what they're calling a historic pledge to uphold the scientific integrity and put safety first as they are developing covid nineteen vaccines. These are basically the front runners in the vaccine race for covid nineteen, all of the companies involved in operation warp speed in addition to Merck Pfizer and its partner biotech Astra Zeneca Madonna GlaxoSmithKline Sanofi Johnson and Johnson and Nova VACs all signing onto this pledge to do essentially four things. They say always make safety and wellbeing of vaccinated people a top priority continue to adhere to high scientific and Ethical Standards Regarding. The conduct of clinical trials and the rigor of their manufacturing process they pledged to submit for approval or emergency use authorization after demonstrating safety and efficacy through phase three clinical studies designed to design and conducted to meet regulatory guidelines through a regulatory authorities like the FDA, and they say to work to ensure sufficient supply and range of vaccine options including those suitable for global access. They say quote we believe this pledge will help ensure public confidence in the rigorous scientific and regulatory process by which covid nineteen vaccines are evaluated and may ultimately approved and guys. This comes as vaccine development is moving at unprecedented speeds and we are hearing about some hesitancy. From folks to believe in the process and to be comfortable taking these vaccines especially as the FDA's leadership has come under question about political influence regarding convalescent plasma and hydroxy chloroquine in a recent change research and CB poll about thirty percent of people said that they either definitely not or probably not take covid nineteen vaccine, and so guys the company is trying to step in here to tell the public, they will keep safety I. Yeah. It's in response to rumors that we'd get an emergency youth authorization for for one of these vaccines before completing. The process there's always pressure on the FDA. obviously in especially with you know we're talking about life and death situations with with some of these drugs to to cut corners and I think they're just you know they're just putting it out there that especially with so many people when. Vaccines are such A. Controversial even before this people, you know what? The Anti Vaccine and everything else and we do remember back with with polio before we knew everything luckily nothing happened but you need to be sure. His longtime ago we know so much more and we know what's in vaccines. We know the scientific basis for how they worked meg. So I, I would be comfortable with. with one of these, the ad no mediated. Vaccine or you know if there's a small stretch of Messenger Aurigny I'll give it a shot I. I'm not overly concerned with with like contamination by some horrific virus that we don't see or something like that. You know make so. A wary public needs to be. Absolutely certain that that. We've. Crossed all the cross the is and cross. The is in dotted the teeth I just wanted to know we are coming up on that and that final stretch and the vaccine development process sort of inconceivably because this only begin in January really. But when we get to the end of October that's when Pfizer is indicating that they may see results about whether they're vaccine works and the FDA has scheduled advisory committee meeting of outside advisers, October twenty second, and so a lot of people are gonNA be looking at that date and saying, are we going to see data and how transparent will this process be So these are nine major drugmakers saying that their first priority is safety and I think this is hugely important not only for building public confidence in. A covert vaccine, but for protecting the sanctity of vaccines in general broader, we've had discussions with Scott gottlieb about this. The reason you don't want to rush through and push something out there that hasn't been thoroughly vetted with a phase three trial is that if there were problems with it, not only would it convince people not to take a Kovin vaccine, but it could undo a lot of the work that's been done with other vaccination programs around the globe I mean Joe. Brought up polio. Well, Jonas salk actually. Vaccinated his children. As some of the very first people testing this out so you know that was something he felt one hundred percent confident with we don't do things that way anymore. But there has been so much that that we have done with vaccinations diseases that we don't even think about anymore because over the last fifty years or so you know they've they've they've kind of gone away up very common This is just important not only for covert vaccination, but for faith in the vaccination system at large. Yeah it's so fragile. Public Health experts are incredibly concerned that a misstep here when vaccines are so important could shake the the fragile confidence in the vaccine system in general, and as you pointed out, it's this terrible irony of vaccines that they have rendered all these terrible diseases sort of non existent, and so we don't appreciate that vaccines did that for us. So there's a lot on the line here.
Former Republican Governor of Michigan Endorses Biden for President
"Endorsed Joe Biden for president. He said President Donald Trump was not covering in the interest of the entire nation. I was at the nation's Capitol when Trump gave his inaugural address. I had hoped this first speech as president would be a message to unify divided nation. Instead, I heard a speech directed at how It would help the people who supported him. And sadly, that is how President Trump continues to govern. That's what he wrote in the USA today and then the free press governor. Snyder also criticized the president's 2017 tax cut and said Trump's foreign policy had produced some good agreements, but overall, our nation is no longer respected as a leader on world affairs. Jonas is Dick. Hey, Verner, Dick Wei talked a little bit about this yesterday. You weren't terribly surprised by this, But we're gonna have former governor Rick Snyder on in a little bit. And there are a few things I'm curious about. And one of those is and I wanted to get your take on. This is If the Republican governor doesn't like trump, and clearly he doesn't. Why not suggest ah, not endorse anybody? Or maybe endorsed some other great Republican as a write in candidate just to show your displeasure with the president. Why go so far as to Endorse a Democrat to endorse Joe Biden. Is there something about Joe Biden? He likes so much that's going to make him a great president. If he's just making a statement that Donald Trump is not not his guy. Why not endorse whoever his favorite Republican is as a writer? That's good question. That's a very good question. Because the governor Snyder says he is still East still considers himself Are Republicans. So why vote and why come out for a Biden, for example, his good friend John Kasich ran for president. Then he dropped out. Why not write in John Kasich as Hey, has the person he votes for? So that's a good question. Another good question would be what Policies of Trump. Does he support He can't be against everything that Trump has done has got to be something there that he likes because they're both Republicans. And he, after all, is the governor who several years ago. Boosted supported ram through and sign the lot. The right to work law in Michigan, making It's a ah ah, situation where we're workers that Aaron, a union covered by a union contract can drop out of the union and still be covered. By the terms of the contract, something that unions viral it Lee against. He was the right toe work Governor. So that was a very conservative move on his part, something that would be ah. Aligned with what the Trump administration is done on so many issues, So yeah. Ah, you raise a very good point, And I think I think that there's just something much bigger than this. I think I was reading a little bit of cut the Lincoln Project Republicans against Trump, but they are I think they're going to be coming out. Today, with maybe hundreds of businesspeople, politicians, people who say they've been Republicans for a long time coming out and say, both for Joe Biden. And that's just interesting to me. Why they don't voice their displeasure against Donald Trump More than vote for Joe Biden does. If you're a true Republican, wouldn't you think? Four years of of the Democratic president would do more harm than four years of president. Republican president that you just think is a jerk. Basically. Yeah, well, I'm I'm sure that you will have the freedom to ask that question of the governor also if the governor comes out again Against President Trump. And for Biden, one of the high profile members of the Trump administration is Betsy DeVos. Betsy DeVos, who would have been a Big Snyder supporter Back in the day one. Snyder was governor. This would seem to Ah cut off the good relations that he would have with Betsy DeVos, Dick DeVos and the DeVos. Organization and forces in Michigan. What what does he Snyder Ah. Think about that is he Is he through with the divorce is or can he maintain some sort of a friendly relations with them, even though he comes out against Trump If it comes out against Trump, he comes out against Betsy DeVos. Right and I also wonder does does this make Republicans think twice about voting for Donald Trump? Or does this make Republicans think less of Rick Snyder? Well, I'm not the judge of that you had you had posed the question Previously. Does this persuade Republican voters? I'm not sure that people look Any more at the endorsements of anyone. In fact, sometimes I think when we hear about a political figure endorsing somebody else for office It's quite a Ah, it's quite a bodacious action on their part, thinking that they're so important that their endorsement is is needed. Bye bye. The voters that we just have to know who they support or who they don't. I'm not sure that Snyder, even even the endorsement of a governor. Ah, former governor is that important to voters anymore? Republicans or Democrats cave after
Max Has NO FEAR FOR THE DEER + Nick Nurse ‘Coaching Clinic’
"That's not a bad shot wasn't a bad shopping to see not it was a bad shot. But how did they beat Philly? Was that a good shot? Just tell me that was was that a Nick nerve-wracking. This is the best coach you can do we need to Coalinga. Is that the best player you go? Okay. So this is what is what I wanted to hear from you mind me getting that. I mean running off the corner going all the way following the way from the three-point line that that was the way you designed. This is where I'm getting that thing. Okay. So then let's talk about that. Then ignorant didn't have a play lined up in that situation or at least we maybe didn't have the the player. Maybe maybe that's it. In my opinion. He said, you know what they figure things out up to this point. I'm going to let them just keep going cuz I have nothing and that's a problem that's off. Can't be that kind of Coach into play. I believe in this situation that Brad Stevens to me and although Nick nurse is the coach of the year. I like Brad Stevens home is a knows better now like next Nur Nick nurses X's and O's I think he is. I think he gets guys in places. They need to be and it has really worked out well for so so I don't I don't necessarily think that yeah, you want some people that call timeout. Okay, you can call timeout but now you give the other team opportunity to self esteem. So if I promise up until you come down to your file before guy gets into the act of shooting Mean there are a bunch of things. You can talk about that. You can't talk about on the flyer. So that's a good point because you if you're Brad Stevens, I'm telling my guys to foul. They needed three follow. Yeah, but they they going to do that. They did not going to do that because they didn't have that opportunity to think about it. They just play what time on the situation you have more time to think about. Absolutely so that maybe it's why Nick nurse doesn't call a time-out init work off. All you were trying to do is get a decent. Look at it three point shot got a decent Loop. Don't miss don't miss out on this one. It's your chance. You know, Cedric Maxwell says go down absolutely had to betonline.ag today and take advantage of all the great signup bonuses betonline.ag your online sportsbooks experts and it now I don't know man. just feel like when it comes down like you say like when it comes out and accessing those late-game situations, I'm taking Brad Stevens over over Nick nurse all day them, but when Nick nurse but some guy told me later on or off. Yeah, some guy told me the other day on the radio from Toronto said Nick nurses by the arrestee was a give him a clinic in coaching. Okay. Oh, I thought that goes but this is my thing with him. This beef with Nick you you played out that situation, right? It didn't pan out obviously depend on welfare. But you know, you played that card whatever it is what it is right off of 20 minutes later. So it was a microphone in your face and you're gonna complain about oh Jason Tatum got their free throw line too many times all the favors. I mean, excuse me, all the referees gave him that one come on and while you're trying to put up there and you're trying to put something in somebody's you're trying to put some because if it's not working you're down to well, you're trying to put your grabbing it whatever you can grab that actually the course of the year. You're trying that your job. Well, you're grabbing it what you can grab it. See I can really hasn't been that guy you know that said, oh my God, there's no way to stop. I'll come David Jaylen Brown has done a nice job. I'm just I sewing being one off. Woman with G acha you gotta yeah, and they haven't really had to double-team. That's true. So, you know what Jaylen brown hair but his defense has been underrated. How about the time that Jaylen Brown? I mean you're talking about quickness thought he ripped off calorie calories was dribbling and it was like stripping. Well, yeah look like look like brown was in The Matrix the way he went across and grabbed the basketball game. Carolina was sent he was going back the other way know when the ball on the floor you you ain't got it no more. I looked at him. Where did it go with so long? I mean, it's been it's been eye-opening to see some of the some of the situations and even now down that bubble people talk about or you know, what's going on with Milwaukee Milwaukee is trademark what they do. They give up three's what does what does Miami like to do? Oh you take the reason you're walking Milwaukee is given that more FAQ. To anybody else. So Miami's Forte there strip is shoot the three. Yeah. So if you ever team does knocking down threes in a regular area off and you you're struggling right now with, you know, Yiannis and Middleton and you know, they play great against the Celtics but they've had a you know, Jonas has been if they use the series honest is going to be exposed again time to time MVP. I agree with that. Well, the biggest reason why I agree with that is because you you got a 27-point performance out of Chris Middleton office and you couldn't make that a win like that's a big. Well somebody else involved in this. Well, that's what I'm saying. You know his Lopez involved. Where is Lopez build out. 1 game? Okay lower game loading again if off on your scores Seventeen eighteen, you're in trouble. Well, we're we're and that's the thing about picking up your teammates like somebody who's like Kimba. Okay. Kimball didn't was barely scored and Marcus fairly score. Yep. You had somebody else that kind of shoulder the load until those guys got it together and you look at blood. So what's blessed done during the series always been a little banged up. So I don't I don't trust them this man. This is obviously I've never been like like that's always in my thing Milwaukee. Yiannis is going to be honest, but I don't trust your boys like your squad is shaky Milton will give you those 30.93 here and there but need to make sure those are wins you can give those up Jerry has travels big man. I really like Miami and new series. I just like their Focus right now, too. Yeah. I totally agree. I think again to see to me, it's Jimmy Butler Factor. Yeah, because they those dudes right now bam alabado guys, like they're they're taking on that same Persona is Jimmy Butler like, you know jumping off. Yeah. I mean Jimmy brother man. I mean he said about when you asked about guests and family come into the bubble was you said he I'm not bringing anybody man. This is a business trip. Wow. While I said liked that I've always been among. I
Scientists Discover New Lemur Species
"And gorillas may be our best known primate cousins. You might be less familiar with mouse lemurs, the world's smallest primates. They're tiny and adorable, with big googly eyes and fairy tales. They can be tough to spot in the forests of Madagascar and even tougher for scientists to identify when you go to the forest, and you will see your mouth remark is night time to actually tell what species belongs to. Marina Blanco is a research scientist at the Duke Leamer Center in North Carolina, and for years her team surveyed the lowland forests of northeastern Madagascar are capturing and measuring the tiny nocturnal creatures. I took genetic samples to now. All that work has paid off because they see one of the mouse lemurs they sampled, often found clinging to cardamom bushes is a new species. Only about 10 inches long, and half of that is its tail, and it weighs just two ounces. A scientist named it Micros Abyss Janahi or Jonas Mouse lemur. In this case, Jonah is Jonah rats and Buzz offi, a Leamer, researcher in Madagascar and his reaction to the news. Good news in a bad time brats and Gadhafi says levers, including this new species are surrounded by threats, one first off them are critically endangered. On the brink of extinction. 98% of them are friends. So that means, But there is a big risk for the next generation not to see any more dreamers, mining, poaching and illegal hunting all threatened lemurs. But the biggest problem, he says, is deforestation. There's no discussion when the first is gone, the MIRs are like fish. Fish cannot survive outside of the water, humorous candles your life outside of the forest Red. Simba's offi says Conserving forest is crucial to the future of Lamers. And he says he hopes this new tiny primate will illustrate just how much we have to lose.
A COVID-19 Vaccine: What You Need To Know
"Joe you have been reporting on the pandemic for months now and specifically one crucial part of this story vaccines right I think vaccines are pretty much the way out of this. Most people agree it's been so far the most successful tool in preventing infectious disease. But, of course we don't have a vaccine right now, and so that's why we're doing all these other things like shutting things down and social distancing and wearing masks in washing hands, etc, until we do have a vaccine that safe and effective and available right, and we're basically hiding from the virus in the meantime right, but I've heard that vaccines have traditionally taking years to develop. So, what are we doing to speed up the process well quite a lot actually and just to give you one example. Example a couple of weeks ago. I got a virtual tour of a vaccine facility in Baltimore. What you're looking at here is one step of multiple step process. It's run by a company called emergent bio solutions, and Sean Kirk overseas the manufacturing and technical operations and what he's doing, he's he's pointing a cell phone camera through a glass window into another room with several large stainless steel pieces of equipment. You can see the banks taken out. Talk you, so what's going to go inside? This bag is actually. Believe it or not insect cells that have been modified to make proteins from the coronavirus. That's going to be used to make the vaccine. The technicians are loading this bag into a fifty liter stainless steel vessel. That's part of what's called a bio reactor around the outside of this is the vessel itself it provides. The heating cooling. And with the inserted agitator, the mixing the cells, spitting out a protein that's going to become the corona virus vaccine. All this is being done with the strict standards of the Food and Drug Administration. The vaccine is from a biotech company called Nova Fax, and emergent says they're ready to make hundreds of millions of doses of it on a short timescale. Hold up Joe. Because I thought there weren't any approved vaccine's yet. So what's happening here with this manufacturing? Well, you were asking what's going to speed up the process and this is part of the answer. They're not just waiting to see if the vaccine works. They're doing what's called at risk manufacturing it. They're getting ready to make hundreds of millions of doses of vaccine. And when they finish testing it, it might not work okay, but the government says we don't have any choice because we can't wait until we find out of it works to start manufacturing it. Because that'll just add months and months to the process, so they're getting going right away. Sounds like kind of a gamble, but we don't really have much of a choice. Is that right well? That's what people are saying. I mean it's a gamble that health officials say we have to make if we want to have a vaccine that's GonNa be around in time to put a stop to this pandemic. Okay Today on the show what you need to know about the virus vaccine from how it works to the challenges of disturbing it to. The world. This is shortwave the daily science podcast from NPR. Okay Joe Palca. Let's start with some vaccine basics I read. There are over one hundred vaccines in development for this corona virus, and these vaccines are trying to do the same thing trigger an immune response from your body without actually getting you sick. Yes, I've been thinking about it as a little bit like showing a picture to someone and say if this person comes to your door. Don't let them in and and that's essentially what you're doing with a vaccine. Right and I guess there are a couple of different ways. Occur virus vaccine can maybe trigger that response. Tell me about a couple of them. Well one thing you can do is you can actually kill the virus. What does that mean well? It's not really alive, but let's say treat it with heat or formaldehyde. It's no longer working and you inject into somebody well. It has the shape of virus and the look of a virus, but it doesn't do it. A virus does so the immune system can respond to that. That's kind of how the polio vaccine that Jonas Salk came up with. Or you can take the virus and modify it so that it's no longer able to make someone sick That's basically what the Sabin Polio vaccine did. It weakened the poliovirus. Immune system saw it made all the right responses, but didn't Cause Disease Gotcha. Since those two, there have been married of different ways. It's just the idea of getting the Munin system to recognize parts of the virus so that it'll have an immune. Without actually making somebody sick all right. Let's talk to about why vaccine development takes so long because we mentioned earlier, it's normally very step by step process and I'm guessing that's why it takes a while right well. Yeah I, mean there are lots of steps in the process. First one is to make sure that the vaccine is safe. You're GONNA, be giving it to a lot of people, so you WANNA. Make sure it doesn't cause any problems on its own important, and then you want to make sure it has an immune reaction immune response, so you measure the cells that people make are the proteins that they make from the immune system after you've given them the vaccine. And then you want to make sure it prevents them from getting sick from the coronavirus. None of these sound like easy tasks I gotta say Yeah No it's. It's all time consuming. It's all difficult. It all requires a lot of people and patients and coordination and You can't really speed it up I. Mean if you WanNa, see if something's going to work for six months, you kind of. Of have to wait around for six months to see if it's GonNa work right, and so with this coronavirus receiving manufacturers trying to compress the time line, but this takes a lot of money and a lot of financial risk, so does anthony. FAUCI of the coronavirus task force thinks we can develop a vaccine by the end of this year, because the government is helping these manufacturers financially through. An warp speed. Here's vouch speaking with NPR's Rachel Martin. It's risking hundreds of millions of dollars, maybe a half a billion to a billion dollars. The government isn't destined that taking that risk way insane precede, and you'll save several months, so joe aside from this. What else can be done to move the process along well I mean one of the things you can do. Do is just get a lot of people working on the problem at the same time, and then you can also do things that will make sure that the regulatory processes smooth so the food and drug. Administration is coming along with you in every step so that they don't have to review everything. After you've done it, they can review everything as you're doing it. But. This idea of having a lot of labs involved in something that's going to really be helpful and I talked with Dr Lewis Fellow over at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School his team is developing something. It's packed with micro needles that contain tiny bits of the coronavirus, and the Niger needles are so small that you don't even feel them, so you while slap on the patch and wait a few weeks and boom, immunity corona virus. Virus Patch. It works if it works, but this is just one approach, and I think that they will basically feed off of each other This is GONNA help us to do these trials both quicker, and to find vaccine. That's most effective when we start to be to be able to compare these different approaches seven Joe. Let's say sometime in the future we have a winning vaccine or a few vaccines that are fully approved. How on planet, Earth Are we going to distribute them like who's who is going to get it I i. m Evi one vaccination. Are Those people born on March tenth? This is a scene from the movie contained I know we promised we wouldn't play this movie again on the PODCAST, but. This scene is kind of how vaccine was deployed at least in the film. So Joe is there massive lottery drawing in our future to decide who gets the CORONA VIRUS VACCINE? I don't think that's going to be the actual way that it's going to be ruled out. Okay. Most of the people I've talked to suggest that it's going to go first to healthcare workers and people who are on the frontlines of combating the disease, but then you want to think about the sort of the societal infrastructure. I mean who makes things go and. I think a number of years ago. People wouldn't necessarily have thought of delivery truck drivers says people who are crucial to the infrastructure of the country, and yet more and more people are now relying on deliveries to get stuff, and so they may be considered critical people who need to be vaccinated or their people who are at high risk for the disease. But the fact is that at some point, we're going to have to figure out a way to get this to everybody. Right Seth Berkley, for the CEO of an organization called Garvey. The vaccine alliance put it really well. We're not going to be safe as a world unless everywhere save so even if you know, we had parts of the world that would have a low spread or no spread. If you had large reservoirs of the virus in other places, of course, you have a risk of reintroduction I like that we're not going to be safe. As a world, unless everywhere is safe. Okay, last question Joe. Will the corona virus vaccine be one that changes every year because the corona virus changes every year. If we know that, or will it be more like the measles are the polio vaccine? We don't know we don't know which I could give you a better answer. But the answer right now is. We don't know so. There's not enough experience with this virus yet to know for sure, of course what's going to happen? It's possible that they'll be a different version that they all need to make vaccines against for every year. or it's also possible, and this is probably more likely that. They'll need to be boosters from time to time, maybe not as infrequently as measles, but may be more frequently that some so that the it's not clear how long the immune response that you get from. A vaccine will work so. The trouble is just I mean it's so new. The understanding of this virus that the people aren't saying
Ross Jeffs on Individualizing Speed Training by Understanding Concentric
"We have an awesome show for you lined up on individualizing factors and speed training. individualization has been one of my favorite topics to get into I feel like one of the most rewarding things that. Seems to happen throughout the process of coaching athletes is finding that athlete who just wasn't responding to the training that they had been given and looking at them, and and having the layers of awareness to understand where they're at and his into as an individual giving them the training they need and seeing them succeed. That is one of my absolute favorite things as a coach and. And that's why these podcasts on training individualization. I just enjoy them a ton, so Ross Jeff's. He was on the podcast back on episode, one forty, five, talking about trainers versus racers, which again is another element of individualization, basically knowing how to train athletes based off of how close they can get to their peak performance output in practice versus competition and how to train them correspondingly. Ross is currently working as a sprints jumps in hurdles coach at the aspire academy in Doha Cutter. He formally has worked in the Netherlands is the sprints and jumps coach. He's also coached under the guidance of Jonas Dodo within this speedwork system. Outside the track field Ross's worked with a number of athletes. From -rageous sports including tennis boxing. Olympic medalists from backs, basketball and rugby sevens, and Ross really has a full gamut of people that he's worked with. He's absolutely one of the most brilliant young coaches I've talked to. He's open-minded. He's curious. He has a huge tribe of mentors and I always learn things that are very applicable whether I reading his articles or obviously talking to him in these podcasts, so for the show today Ross is going to get into the idea behind on three types. Types of sprinting or three types of sprinting athletes and how to identify those, and then how those athletes ten respond best to training, and so I've seen a presentation that Ross did on this I was thoroughly intrigued, and unlike we have to do a podcast on this and so I'm super lucky to have him back and so we're going to get into that. We're going to get into three types of these three types of sprinting athletes identifying them and then how to train them. And whether you attract coach or not, there's a ton of gold in the show just in the sense that honestly if you're a track coach, a lot of times like if you're training jumpers, you may have a group that is almost more going to be close to one type. Were says a team sport. You're going to have a lot of types and so being able to just go through these ideas. It's going to give you a great new layers awareness, and this was an awesome show, so all that being said. Let's get onto episode two six with Ross Jeff's. Ross man awesome. Have you back? How how have you been? has there been any. I've been doing any online coaching in the midst of all this. What's what's happening in the world to track and field right now? Ed, you'll find, have me May Yeah, it's interest. Not Come in Cadillac up in about almost a year now so. Been in lockdown since. At Emma, so we've been there most fought training session close, so there's no, there's not much garnell. Plenty plenty of time was that where this presentation that we're GonNa talk about today was born. I'm sure that's been. It's been in the works right for a long time, but did that. Give you the free time to get all this together. Yeah. The James Baker whose who who runs fullness performance, and he's kind of been bugging me to kind of put together for a while, so it's the right time to do things. For sure I think sometimes when there's little bit more free time or downtown I know for me. It's been a lot easier to get a wider spectrum of guests on for sure on my own end with all this on the for the podcast, but I I was really still I know our our last time with the trainers versus racers was awesome. I mean it gave me so many things to think about an implement, and so I was super excited to see that you add the. New a new categorization, and of course we talked about this like no, not the goal isn't to put athletes boxes, per se, but just the more we can learn about how different outfits respond is is just so incredible and interesting to me and so. Let's kick this off. Let's to tell us about. Your your category, your categorization, concentric, elastic and metabolic maybe to start with the history of it, like where where did all this come from in terms of you? Your journey of deciding or or determining which athletes I know, track sprinters. We're talking about specifically, but which types of sprinters were responding to which types of training? So. Springtime into briefly set the scene fest. I think if you watch. The Olympics there are many commonalities inconsistencies around. Will faucets sprinters in the while. Technically, but there's also some variation, right and all too often this variation schroeck officer. As an idiosyncrasy oh. You know this athlete would run faster if they run like Basil D'Amato, isn't a nominee, so we shouldn't coalpit. BBC Head of Voice and AI Andy Webb Discusses the Custom Voice Assistant Beeb
"That, so you have journalists who are? When you say their staffing this, they're they're. They're basically taking. news content that you have today. This may be designed initially for radio broadcast, or for to read on the web and their distilling it, so it's going to be better for a consumption through. Let's ask smart speaker. neely that was seventy how we saw. now these specifically. Create news stories if directly full so they ended of previous radio programs. In new stories come in, and just as the stories, online Jonas county onto the necessarily with banality, a voice in an interactive voice. gotTA, so it's a parallel. Yeah, yeah, so we staff that. Sort of twenty four by seven. realtime kind of breaking news can be rotated into the newsroom. Jones can created content. Get it up into the briefing as well so the briefing has the ability to dynamically outside so as a regular thing. We updated three times a day anyway like the complete refresh across the whole ray thing, but at any point during the day we want to lead a new story into that raising or intellect autists, the journalists gotomeeting talk to publish into. The the white embracing. Did you have to create? Do content management tools for them to be able to do that? Yes lead it So. There's a lot of publication works like we tried to make sure we could be used as much of that obligation wet though we have the is widely used throughout the triumph BBC, news organization, but there's some bespoke. He says that we have to be able to build on enabled us to. Publish into the the actual news briefing piece itself so there's this framework around the news briefing like mini decency mess. I guess the describe US sitting around news briefing from the. Routines. Got and then you, it sounds like you have tears like you might have the the headline level or the short summary, and then you can ask for more to to get a longer piece. Yes he can. We actually think about the way these lunches as well so the news briefing shelter in the morning a longer in the anything in the morning. People tend to be a of rush. They're trying to of get through this with the night. The opportunities when they actually want to interact interacted slightly less. Antoine had signed lean back music in the evening today when people will have all listen to a deeper analysis of the news goes through a Neville. We actually made a briefing slightly longer in evening have slightly more points, so which contracts so not every story is interactive, but we select the sort of key stories straight where we won't be able to build these deep degenerates with people excludable kids. Okay, so that's real time news and We talked about Alexa which I think is been before the be for example that's been your biggest area, investment and voice Is that correct and then also is? Are these services also available through your many mobile apps? Some some some multi notch. There is work now about. How do we start to bring some of these signals together? My Team's job is not just to essentially build arid face, loading experiences, but to build the platform technology that will almost democratize voice technology stack, and allow for that to be incorporated into our existing
Leaf Botany - Shape
"It comes to leave talk and God knows I love Lee Talk. There are a little terms. Bandied around that you may or may not be familiar with. I'm going to run through some of them now just to give you an idea of the range of terminology that you can use to describe leaves. I mean why bother you can say well. Relief is round or it's pointy or it's holy. Why bother with all these specialists terms well part of the reason? Is that as you get more into this hobby? No doubt you'll start reading up online and in books about plants and you'll find these terms start to come up and learning. These terms just helps to enhance your understanding of what you're reading. So what are the some of the terms that you're likely to come across? Well let's start at the very basic level with the leaf walk makes up the structure of the leaf. Well the Lamma is the blade of the leaf. The flatbed the that we possibly most interested in and the stock he bit well. That's the patio but do remember not who plants have patios. Some of them joined straight onto the stem. And it's an adaptation that saves the plant some water and listen to bobby reminded me of another useful pair of words when describing leaves and that's back. Co and Adak seal yet. You have to have your teeth in when you say those the opposite of visit belief. That's the Adak seal and the underside. That's the AB axial again. You might come across that one when you are reading about plants and that just helps you to know what is what. And then there's a whole set of words just describing the shape of a leaf. I think you notice about relief. When you're looking at is is it. Simple or compound now simple while that's fairly obvious it just means the leaf is one whole thing together rather than having some complex design whereas a compound leaf well that's formed by a number of flits that join together and then attach onto the stem and there's a couple of different coins compound leads your probably going to come across in the House plan world. Probably the most notable is compound pommie now and as is often the case the clues in the name a compound Paul Mate. Leave looks a bit like a hand. So if you think of a horse chestnut leave or in the House Plant World Shuffler relief. You are along the right lines and you can. Of course get palm. Eight simple leaves think spicier Japonica for example. That's a great example of a leaf. It looks like a hand but it's simple. It's all one leaf. The other form of compound leaf ease the P. natively compound leave and I guess the best example I can think of this. One is the sensitive plant Mimosa. Puteh Co where the leaflets are. All arranged in a straight line out in the garden the best example probably is arose some of the names of quite poetic. Iran the like Peltier eight which means a leaf where the patio joins not the edge of the leaf but somewhere in the center like Mr Shanley compete to that I also like has state which means a spear shaped leaf so think of a Philodendron artem being the perfect example again the Latin telling you something about relief and then we have the wonderful Lancia late which means quite simply shaped like allowance so in other words it comes to a point at the end. So think about your busy Lizzie. Impatiens classic Lawns Hiller leaves there are loads. More LINEAR world best. The spider plants leads right. Best fairly obvious. And then you've got something like Hoya carrier with its OPD coordinator leaves which means that harsh eight with the stem at the pointy and rather than the other end. If you want to go deeper into leaf shape names then do check out the show notes. Broil include some links to some wonderful pictures and diagrams of different types of shapes and he can spend hours learning the all. But how is a leafs shape determined? Why is this so much variation? Well this was where I need to call in an expert. I'm Enrico Coen. I'm research scientist Jonas Center Well we try and study and understand how plant forms are produced. How leaves grow how flowers get shapes often look at around my growing collection of House Plaza? Just wonder the amazing variety of leave shapes demonstrated even in my body's collection do have any insolent for us about why certain leaves are shaped as they are what what is it. What are the factors that determined the shaper indeed leaf size leaves a fascinating terms of the as you say variety of shapes the produced and one of the big questions which we still don't know all the answers to is how these shapes generated manmade shapes? We have a notion of how we make a spoon or plate because there's next to hand off our own hand the the process but with a leaf as with most biological structures there is no external hand it all has to figure out how to produce these shapes internally and Just as in a sense you could imagine how just to we use the musical scale. A single musical scale can produce all the different music that we hear from symphony used concertos to pop music and yet it's the same notes. It's the way in which the organized and put together the generates this amazing Variety of music and the same way leaves have a set of basic ingredients. And it's the combination of these ingredients allows still many different forms to be generated so although he's Mabul variety forms underlying that Some basic rules to get combined and also some glorious ways to produce the shapes. "jonas" Discussed on Fore Play
"I can't believe I'm about to say this but next up for the next thirty minutes we've got the Jonas brothers all right folks. We got a huge show. We got three mega guests. We got kicked out JOE AND NICK. They are the Jonas brothers a single out ex. We got I think seven people that are kind of Figures on this show or doing zoom call. So it's going to be interesting but gentlemen thanks for joining the show pump. The have you guys were so excited to be here. Thank you guys is nothing more than talk about golf so true. It'd be good. Well that's like we said that's what we do in a in a kind of a clownish manner all the time so you guys are probably going to get along pretty well with us Let's start though. New Single believe Friday was released new music video. That just came out. Talk a little bit about the single. The new saw this new song is it's a good time us in Carol. G teamed up with her. It's gotta a Latin flair to but it's called accidents. It's basically the whole concept. Basically said kissed me like your XS in the room So it's sort of Having a better time with the new love and trying to make the old jealous and overall we felt like the right time given all the things that are happening the world to try to make people smile a little bit bring him some happiness even if it is in their homes listen to song and the reactions been crazy. Spend a lot on. I mean you guys did it again. It's another bang or so people have been check it out you know. Oh yeah get in there and check it out so I wanted to ask you talked about it a little bit pre show. I mean you guys got a lot going on your the. Jonas brothers were just three clowns. Who taught golf talk a little bit about like how this happened? Kevin? You've got the new APP Caribou. Joe You've got the new show cup of Joe Nick. You've got the finale of the voice. It's actually tonight Tuesday when we're recording. You've got the new singles. He has got a ton going on. How you end up on this show talking golfing your. You're coming on tour with your new Heitmann. A yeah we got. We got a bunch of fun. Things that we're doing. I think why wide spun to talk to you guys because our our lives we get to travel the world for living and it's one of the best jobs we could ask. We wish for and but in art in our off time in the way we were like the bond as brothers and his bandmates is just trying to do something for ourselves. And that's going to play golf and Usually it can be it can start competitive than a few drinks cores lights and the next thing you know. It's it's pretty sloppy but we're having a blast and so they can only make sense that we were able to hop on the phone and skype and zoom talk and enjoy this wonderful life that we get to live and play and hang out so talk about talk about this toward life. I mean you guys trying to play golf every day or you John. How do you get out on courses? I mean you guys are mega famous. Do you plan around at all. We We love playing golf so much more so obnoxious about our obsession out that we literally talked to our our team. We're like can we please build in like Hub cities that will will fly in and out of the shows where we know there's great courses in the city's so on this last tour it was like ninety something We started in Florida and A neighbor way up the east coast and West and then started back then and we legitimately scheduled are days around when when we were playing golf. What courses we were playing his last hit some really great spots That I hadn't played get which I was really pumped about. It's an escape to write for like you guys have this long tour. You hit ninety cities in like golf especially for US guys who work nine to five jobs or anyone sitting in a cube like that's your thing that you want to go out and do you picture that green grass you picture. The nature sounds and with your buddies and Drinking Beers and sharpen and getting into the banter and for you guys must be even more of a release of just you know like the stress in an of of a tour especially like in the middle of all those shows and stuff getting out there and I mean that's awesome that we can share that that similarity completed it totally same thing. 'cause you at the venue pretty much all we see is the inside a dressing her right all for the most part of the afternoon to the show that night so getting to be able to spend time. I think that's really how we as brothers as well when we broke up and other things. It's Kinda the one place. We really all reconnected. On is was the golf course which was really cool. The we spent as much time as we could playing as well as we could knicks. Probably the most put together Golfer. Out of all of us. That was going to be of our next question. Who's WHO's the worst disagreement there and listen you guys say this is why I like. Singer is like this golf hierarchy right. It's just like we're all we all of the game. We can like talk shit about it in just like you know whatever I I will say. I don't cheat whereas Kevin Cheats so early better and Joe has had no idea what he's talking about J. were up in. The Woods isn't level. There's times we're like it's like oh it's it's in the rough and inside. I saw you hit your tee shot and it's literally in the bunkers. No it's it's in the rough and you're like you moved it. I saw on your but were there to have fun. We're not there but someone someone actually gave me the best advice about Golf that I've ever got. Which was you're not good enough to be this mad. And so when he gave me that that advice I was like you know what none of it matters. Yes I'M GONNA take my ball out of the bunker and put it back onto. Who who who are we to say we should have hit that ball to eighty five right down the middle and like we aren't supposed to be in the woods it's like. I'm just suck golf. Stop Getting mad at yourself. I like taking. It's once I did that and I had no more issue's about cheating I was like yeah. I'm GonNa do this totally feeding. Yes background Augusta. We're in a pretty devastating. Not Aaron Spirit. We last the last couple of years every either Saturday or and Sunday or Sunday Since Twenty Sixteen Masters. I've I've Gone Joe. Join me for twenty seventeen on the And sort of like a lot of people talk about like Coachella ride weakened they look forward to obviously for golf fans and lovers like masters like our Coachella in a way. And obviously what's happening? The world is is horrible. And it's it's unfortunate to see all all it's going on but I think our biggest bombers for canceled or postponed bends was was obstinate masters. We have a we literally have a text. Group called Master Support Group not alone then. I made a mistake my first year. The masters which I think people don't this is little secret if if listeners out there have yet to go or if they're planning on going in the future a big mistake with young go day one or I got I went I think like even on the second or third day went like middle of the day all right. It seems like a good time to go. You go over. Just nothing's there. You might be lucky with the coast or but that's about it if you're going to the store merchandise goes fast drinks drinks since yeah anyway so you guys mentioned you know have a couple of beers out there. I got a buddy who like he won't play off with me unless we have like a twenty four pack and shotgun birdies like how. Wow what are you guys rounds? What are they start like? Do they always in the same way as to drink when they play? What's it like out there? The tour the tour kind of led to just a consistent intake of alcohol but It was kind of we. We when we are in Scottsdale It was they have these insane Buddy Mary so kind of start with that. With like mixing a protein shake because we get up and go right away And then I probably whole what four three it. It's it's beer thirty especially on a par three that you expected to play really well because you about the night before you get yes. That's six or seven. That's when you start really getting after it But we adopted actually on my Bachelor Party. We played golf with all our buddies and we did this game which my friend taught me actually played in his tournament called. The drunken mutational is part three tournament. Basically unit teammate have to drink certain number beers to get strokes taken off score simple. And you can't drink more beers and you had holes in front of you because obviously we want to be responsible guts during Above all else. I'll just say best game restaurant I've ever had ever play free thinking not thinking about things go. Yeah because any bad stroke. Punish myself by drinking a refreshing courts light and it was all good. I have like a buddies golf trip and we implemented on Mulligan's so it was like shit. Shot you just you shotgun and you're back you're just you know what that's A. That's a fantastic rule on that. I'm going to add into the mix here and with Kevin. He's GonNa Definitely Win Common. Unable to play the show later we learn the same thing. You gotTA limit it. You gotta add regulations or people yeah structure you know right. Ashby struggling around the golf in drinking. That's what are we doing right so neck and Kevin while you guys were in Miami. I think it was like last. November story emerged about bullets whizzing by or something while you guys were playing golf. What happened with that? Yeah honestly I know like what we're supposed to say about this. We never been asked about it which I was kind of blown away by No pundits we were in Florida and basically we're on were on the back nine seventeenth green of course and it's knee. Kevin our drummer jackets. You know one of our great friends enjoyed McGraw. Who's our buddy was the opening act mature. And we're all we all hit decent tee shots on par three and sort of like an island right now the the. Greens like an island. It decent shots and Jordan's is like close to the water but it's still kind of on the rough or whatever and we start.
Greatest Hits: Physician, Test Thyself
"While at the medical pneumatic institute of Bristol in the seventeen ninety s Humphry Davy studied gases studied by inhaling. The today's theme was still in any way unclear. Devi would set up chemical reactions and then inhale the resulting gas one gas gave him a pleasant sensation and the impulse to laugh at everything he had discovered. Nitrous oxide though. His initial attempts were meant to reproduce the pleasurable effects of opium and alcohol. Davey would ultimately recommend the use of nitrous oxide as an anesthetic. Your dentist gives you a blend of fifty percent nitrous and fifty percent oxygen but devi was huffing hundred percent nitrous oxide which is probably why he enjoyed it enough to start hosting parties. Were friends would inhale it from silk bags when it came time to test his polio vaccine. Dr Jonas Salk decided to avoid the long drawn out. Jonas Brothers Share What They've Been Up To In Quarantine
"We say good morning to the Jonas brothers. Good Morning Guys. Welcome to earning. So can we. Where are we right? Now I'm in. I'm in a basement in New Jersey. Where Joe where are you? I'm in my office in L. A. and La Los Angeles and Are you in La as well? I'm also La just hanging out me and my dogs this morning. Kevin and I'm not in the basement in Jersey but I am in Jersey. You're in my state. Come on over. We'll distance sounds good. So here's here's something I find fascinating about you guys ever since you decided to come back and give this another world. You've been nonstop. I mean I don't it from our perspective. It seems like you never stop. It's like every day. You have a new announcement there. A new announcement tomorrow. I mean but because of the way we're living our lives these days. I'm assuming you're almost forced to slow down a little bit. Aren't you or. You're still chugging away just as fast as always it's been surprisingly busy. I mean on on top of Releasing Xm Five more minutes today and kind of the gear up for that We all stay pretty busy with their own own. Things I've been doing. The voice live shows remote from home which has been very unique. And you know had to sort of spend most of my my time outside of brothers stuff doing that. Kevin's been you know. Homeschooling is kids. And yes. That's the only new thing and then going. How's that working for you It's good. I just can't believe in kindergarten. They're doing like like light Algebra like I. Just don't get it. You know like she's like I was just helping her ready for this call with some of her schoolwork and she's like Dad. I have to solve for x and you help me figure out which one this is came today. That's the sole for ex- ex- exactly nice. I feel like we all think we're smart until it's time to help your children with homework and like wait a second. I'M REALLY NOT THAT SMART. Exactly was this is kindergarten. So I'm really concerned about what the future holds. This is why I stopped at a Schnauzer. Brilliant as is GonNa be in my house Schnauzer. He speaks German and Joe. I was watching a cup of Joe on Qube. That looks like a dry. A dream job to me being able to these these cities. You've always been too but you never got to see them now. You get to explore them with interesting people exactly a for years we would travel and go to these different cities and we'd see the hotel or just the venues we started going. Stir crazy thinking what would it be like if I had a six hours to explore with interesting people and we really tried to get some interesting talented to join us and then Matthew mcconnahey was was number one he started us off so I was like well? You set the bar. I once I ran out of gas. I used Kevin Neck which was great. I'll convenience being show convene you WANNA come so so being being musicians which is part of what you are being How does this all change for you? You're still making music but it's all I'm assuming it. The rules are thrown out the door. I mean it's a whole new way of of existing and creating right definitely definitely different. Get all go ahead. This is the hardest part about these calls. You never know. Speak kind of adapting to what this life is like for all of us right now. I'm making the most of it. Obviously music keeps US motivated and inspired so we tried to have little recording writing setups in in individual spaces. So I've been able to do songwriting from afar. And sometimes you go. Why haven't we done this all this time? Bagley you'll have our space but I think it's it's going to be really exciting. We can get a in a room with a bunch of people again and Wrightson songs right now. Have you seen each other in masks yet because I find that? It's the most bizarre thing to see a loved one in a mask who the nothing your naked. I? We haven't actually I have. I've seen Kevin on his way. You know he's running errands and we've facetime. We're both mass together. So it's just a bizarre world we're living in But at the same time when you're still producing music you're still doing the things you love. You'd have to do differently but you you. You make sacrifices in you come out with like what we're doing today so you decided to release what we call it a bundle it's called X. or fire go. No because there's there's an ex and there's five more minutes so well. Today's the fifteenth. So we thought we'd get creative. Okay tricking we've asked him. I didn't even put the two together. So I'm with YOU ELVIS. Good so we're GONNA play X or five minutes or so. I play both. What should we do? Here I've been played both say yes probably the time we've ever released time top five okay. We'll do it. I'M GONNA blame now in that order accident in five minutes in next time. Let's get together in the same room. Let's say some better timing. What are you do? I think this is great. I love the fact that I can be in my basement and talk to the Jonas brothers. Oh by the way announcement I dunno I think Kevin knows but I have three huge Koi in my house and Santa Fe and there yesterday enjoy Jonas brother a scavenger now and they have they have little fish now. They're they're they're having families. How Kevin Kevin in Nick? Fish all did each other well. I don't know I don't know how to tell left tail and how it works but it congratulates the three of you. Have you have little fish in my fish? I wanted to say thanks the enjoyment.
Birth of the Urban Legend
"Today I am going to take a look. At myths and one in particular that is huge a myth that is regarded debated by perhaps perhaps millions of people and it starts in Rome. No one could talk about the Catholic. Church without mentioning. Vatican City. Balance City is an independent city state within Rome. Italy is under full ownership sovereign authority and jurisdiction of the holy. See the area that occupies represents the smallest city state in the world coming in at one hundred ten acres with a population of about a thousand. It is ruled by a type of theocracy minister by the pope while the Holy See dates back to earliest Christianity. The Independent Vatican City state on the other hand didn't come into existence until February. The Eleventh Nineteen Twenty nine this is different from the papal that occupy most of Italy from seven fifty six to eighteen seventy. The Vatican walls were built to keep out pirates during the ninth century. Pirates were pillaging much of southern Italy when they sacked. Saint Peter's in eight forty. Six Pope Leo. The fourth decided he needed a little extra protection. A thirty nine foot wall was constructed around Leone City. An area which included the current Vatican's territory gradually when the threat receded. Many gates were opened in the walls. It was shortly after the wall was built but no connection. Eight fifty five to eight fifty eight that a new pope came into power. The story goes that a lady pontiff rained for a brief time in the ninth century. Disres- was a young woman who disguised herself as a man and entered religious training distinguishing herself as a scholar. She rose through the church ranks and elected Pope John. Eight the year eight five. She went onto rule for two years. Her gender always concealed but he flowery holy robes. Her secret was only revealed. Eight fifty eight when she unexpectedly went into Labor during a papal procession. Some accounts say she died in childbirth while others claim that her and raged followers dragged her behind a horse and stoned to death. Either would've been an appropriate response for the Times before you scoff at the idea of a female pope. Let me lay out some facts. The story of a female pope surfaced in the thirteenth century. Chronicles written by a couple of Dominican Friars then in the fourteenth century. She was mentioned in a book about famous women. Her image eventually graced paintings sculptures and Tarot cards for a short time. She was included in a collection of papal bus in. Italy's CNN Cathedral. Some historians dismissed Pope Joan as a myth that we go. Here's our myth citing that her supposed rain overlaps Pope Leo fourth and Pope Benedict third. Some scholars believe that she was had been expunged from the church history. One ancient scholar provides her nationality place of birth length of her pontificate as two years. Seven months and four days. Then there are some who say she didn't die immediately after giving birth instead she was deposed after her confinement and did penance for many years after her death she was buried in. Estonia were her son held the Office of Bishop generally today all sources a pope. Joan are thought to be nothing more than an urban legend yet. There are hints of a female Pope's existence in both art and architecture on the pillars and Saint Peter's basilica in Vatican City seven sculptures showing a woman's facial expression while going into labor can be found but wait in the oldest surviving com copy of the pump typical the official book of biographies of Popes during the early Middle Ages Pope Benedict. The third is missing completely then are medieval coins that show the likeness of Pope Jonas Elias. Yes there are and this is suggesting that she may indeed have existed. Science had proved that these coins are not fake when archaeological find has documents that Pope Joon US crown. Louis the second of as a holy Roman emperor eight fifty six. Although the available evidence seems to cast some doubts regarding the existence of Pope John. It is likely that some would continue to believe that this figure was real whether it's a piece of fiction or history detail. Pope Joan will most likely on until absolute physical documentation surface. It finally and the

"Name is. This is Joe Jonas. I love him. It was totally blissful did a pot of best way to describe about. How what was it that teenage love the teenage feelings that you got from your celebrity crushes are basically like none other nirvana. It's just like you for it. It's just like a a warmth comes over you. Because there's so like, they're just non-threatening so much joy. And then I also just really I think that's why I got into like PR and marketing is because like those videos that they would like Disney would release all the time and all the behind the scenes, they knew they had a machine, and they were like, oh, you wanna feel great? Here's even more stuff. And I was like I want to remind the doing like that is going to make I wonder if these. People. I like Disney or whatever know what they're doing to women's flow into our children's. Nice others was that they I was like I can look at them. I wanna kiss them. But they're not gonna wanna stick their dick in my God. Feel so not scared. My goodness gracious. And it wasn't even because they were like, oh, we're virgins. It was more. Just they were very nonthreatening. Like, they would be very gentlemanly. We did. So many embarrassing things that I think that's what the whole hog fish buying reeboks. Like, they're all married now. So like can't we just tell the embarrassed that you and me? Yeah. I know we're all married the whole shebang the whole gang pretty much. Some of them are like full on delusion than I was like like we can talk about a few. Let's talk about the time that I just Instagram that Joe gave me his pick at the end of the concert after I thought we were like fucking the entire time goes and a gross. Yeah. I know. But you know, we were flirting. He wasn't broken any Headingley. And then Lizzie it was doing the same with Nick. Nick gave Lizzy her pick his pick. Right. Yes..

"It was the best news. Why we have started the beginning. Like, I I woke up. And saw what was it on Thursday? That is coming out Thursday the song came out on Thursday. But one they post about it. There's a Morzine morning. Okay. So Thursday morning. Wake up see all their Instagram posts. Start freaking out like the carpool karaoke. They're going to be taken over carpool care the late show. Carpool karaoke, everything they're doing all with the James corden. And there's all these clips coming out there, literally the the clip them in the carbon karaoke where James is like. Wait. Does. This mean what I think it means? And they're like where back and burning up stars playing. I literally start sobbing sobbing tears. I send you a picture real life tears. And and we just I could not think about anything else. Let me explain my side. I was excited. I was very excited. I did not saw as much as friend. I was very excited. I've always been a Joe Jonas ballers fan. Huge fan of the Disney channel growing up. So I was very excited not as excited as Fran but still very excited. So we do our video about the Jonas brothers coming back. Big reunion, the releasing music. Video releasing a new song, we do the video. We jump on the table, we dance fit task video. "Rain in the morning show. What a morning Jonas brothers. Yeah. You know, it was it was great time with him. It's really time for them to leave. I'm kidding. I love them. We had a great day with them. It started in my bedroom at four something or five morning. What's so funny? Froggy good. There's this money when you say that I started my morning with the Jonas brothers in my bedroom. Insert my morning that way, I haven't even seen the video yet. They said with good. It's very good. Because not only did the Jonas brothers walk into my bedroom while I was asleep. They had their phones on doing. They cracked the code to get into your place. 'cause one of them has a key at that. Okay. It's really funny when they were leaving my building last night the went to pop rachi upfront of my apartment building in my doorman says who were those painful as it without the Jonas brothers. And he looked at me and said who are you? Who are you to Jonas problems? Sorry. Papa right. So in this studio. No that I think he was with them. Now, let the loudest flash on the camera ever that wasn't a pop so that was web grow. Kathleen. Anyway, thank you to the Jonas brothers. Of course today sucker has been released and they have an album on the way, and they're going to be on the road. And it's a whole new life together for these brothers. And they really gave us a some fantastic insight to where they were and how they weren't right? And how they came back together. They were so honest about it. Yeah. You know, makes you listen to our on demand channel on iheartradio. And listen to the early morning starting at six fifteen this morning. They they were out of the chute like on it. It was pretty cool. I'm getting a lot of hate texts from friends, and I'm like, I hate you. I hate you got to hang out with the Jones partisan for that. And they were awesome. I can give them a holistic reasons to hate you. I I know know that's that's not. not. That's not what. I love you, my Gandhi. Let's go around the room. We'll start with you producer Sam what's on your mind today apart from looking what I could sell in this room because they've touched everything. So I want to implore everyone to make a plan with a friend that lives by you. Because you don't put enough time in for that. And I say it because last night one of my best friends since second grade called me up, and she's like sweetie I'm moving to Long Island, which is not that far away. But she lives so close now, and we are terrible at making time. So of course, I was pissed off myself in one in a frantic message. I'm like, you know, what we all do that. I have more friends than to make more of an effort with and I want everybody to do that do not take advantage of your close proximity. Friends wants to go to Long Island. You'll never see him again as long island's on a map actually went to Long Island pointed toward London in America. But I'm gonna tell you right now, the more the longer you go through life. The further down the path you go you will have people who you consider your best friends who you probably won't see again. And it's just one of those things get my honestly, he's not kidding. I look at my wedding party and the mixture and Elvis, and I've had this discussion before I. There's like five six people..

"What happens? I think they're starting to realize who the Jonas brothers. Are. They've never seen that person. Right. They've never seen that side talking about the kids, but a Valentina are now asking to hear the music and playing the music and constantly dancing and singing, and it's really amazing. My daughter brought old Jonas brothers stick on tattoos to her class the other day to hand them out and that wasn't enough in so her teachers like they can't give it and she's like put dishes and white. So for me, it is incredible. Because of what Nick Joe both doing for the last five years, you know, I was kind of more focused on my family raising that kind of wanting to spend the time doing that which was so gratifying, but now to be able to come back and do this as a family again and honestly bringing them along with us is going to be such a different day. And I think just being able to support each other in our individual life's lives, and then also just what we care about. And not think that that's a deterrent from the band more part of it. And that kinda shows in the video, right? Let's bring in our whole family together. It's such a beautiful. Go ahead, Nick. No, she going to say that one of the biggest conversations that we had was about what it would actually look like, you know, in in twenty nineteen for us, all as you said as adults with wives and a fan say, and you know, it's a very different Jonas brothers than the Jonas brothers of two thousand nine and the the biggest factor in that is just that we have our lives sort of set up and one of the things that was so amazing is not just including our wives and fiancee's in our music video, but from the ground floor of the foundation of this new chapter having a family ordeal. And that's all of them. Are our parents are fans, you know, this is really about saying we're not taking ourselves too. Seriously, this round worst so thrilled that we're just in a healthy place as family, and we won't include everyone in that. And the support that we've received from our family. My wife's been incredible. And she's actually in India right now, and she's very excited by all the news coming out, and you know, having them apart. This chapter just feel so good and knowing that the fans also again are part of the ground-floor this thing. And and it's just unbelievable feel really grateful this morning. So I gotta tell you we're getting we're talking about the series foundation of what's going on. I wanna I wanna get into in a few minutes the music. I want to talk about what it's like to actually pick up a Qatar again. And so what do we sound like now, what does this may do we suck? I have to I'm I'm making assumptions that I have forgotten clue what's going on. Or what it was like? But I'm a must think there must be a little like what do we do? Well, how do we sound? I mean, are we going to be different to we just? Yeah. Just just kind of play around and sing together. And see where it goes. Right. I want to get into a few minutes. Right. Cool by wondering who these guys are who've taken over our show Jonas brothers, Jonas brothers. I if you're not following their social than you have no idea what's going on. It's own. Oh. Going on day. But obviously, you guys have exploded all over Instagram, which sounds sort of creepy. You you've exploded Oliver Instagram in the story has been told very well to the point where I have had to turn off my phone us to do. Yeah. Wave some reason have notifications on my phone is a really bad idea. Exciting days. So I don't really care up a Saint Joe, you're you're you're engaged. I'm engaged to be wed. I don't understand your engaged to be wed to. Job. Anyway, it's a big day. So John in front of me. I wanna okay, rather than you just come in here and talk about you, does it really have to be all about you. Can it be about everyone? Yeah. He's not about us so stuff I want you to have events do a show this in the news. He wants to do a show..

"Jonas docs fox sports radio coming to you like some people are so gullible i talked about the conspiracy theory side a conspiracy theory that i laid out earlier that so the hawks gm went on a barrier radio station ninety five seven the game and said that they were ready to make a deal with milwaukee because they thought milwaukee was gonna take a player that they wanted and then when they saw that milwaukee was and it was leaked that they were going to take a deep bench enzo from villanova they were able to hold back and so my conspiracy theory on that is i think that's embellished i think that was planted there somebody from the league asked him to do it or he took it upon himself to do it and i think that the league wants to use that as the example of this is what bad things can happen if we leak reports or if we leak early draft results this is something bad that can happen this is how this could go and so i think the i think the nba looked at that and said throw this out here so we can show this is why you don't leak reports we didn't want it happening in one team got burned in eight enough to make a deal and so i'm just not buying the story is bogus the other one is well to where people are so gullible so earlier this week on fox sports radio baker mayfield appeared on the herd with colin cowherd heard on many of these fox sports radio affiliates and so with colin coward people are are hearing the interview and it's going back and forth and they're they're they're kind of getting a little heated and colin cowherd was was pretty critical of baker mayfield a baker mayfield shooting back here's a little bit of that interview here on fox radio i think you hear the big headlines which is what people get paid to do is write whatever to grab people's attention so there's no digging there's no actual research to it it was kind of funny to see some of the stuff not just by you but by a lot of people and so people took that in the media you know and you know they are there people in the media that are jealous of colin cowers platform and the success he had and they took that and they created headlines man baker mayfield really burned cowherd on this one man baker mayfield sure showed up colin cowherd on his own show think about what you're saying that baker mayfield showed up colin cowherd on his show not baker mayfield show his show that all of you are talking about what do you think that means kind of a win for cowherd.
