Judge Orders Richard Sherman to Be Released From Jail Without Bail
"Sherman's arrest. This is a total downer right? It's depressing on every level. Just to catch you guys up on the latest things are settling down a little bit in terms of a judge did order that he could be released from jail without bail Thursday. Um, King County District Court Judge Far it's difficult Pacific Islander named Pronounce your Farm Mommy. Mommy must tonight part of me for pronouncing that incorrectly found probable cause that he did commit for offense for offenses. The prosecutors did not ask the judge for a finding on a felony residential burglary allegation porches initially but they have not yet filed Chargers. The charging decision is expected today. His next hearing is set for two o'clock Pacific today. He does not have to be present. One thing that did happen is that his wife made a statement yesterday. Quote I love and support my husband. San Francisco 49ers trade up for the No. 3 pick
"The forty niners trade up to number three overall in the twenty twenty one draft. This was shocking. News to me. Came out right after my episode released on saturday or on friday after i sent over my episode but i normally just was not expecting Draft news to come this early. I feel like most years. The draft news comes a lot closer to the draft is still three or four weeks away but the forty niners did in their aggressive so they traded the twelfth overall. Pick a twenty twenty two third round compensatory pick and first round picks in twenty twenty two and twenty two thousand three for the miami dolphins number three overall selection so the dolphins moved to twelve where the four nine were previously listed. And now the forty niners move up to three. So what does this mean. First of all they swap a total of three first round picks. Is that smart to do. I think it is if they liked the guy. If they're convinced on one of these quarterbacks enough and they're confident that they can get them at number three. I think it's a great move because at this point the forty niners roster is loaded. They're trying to win now. And all they need is that future franchise cornerstone to kind of move that what roster forward and push them over the hump so they need to get the future of the franchise right while the roster and core are relatively young and talented like they are but overall. I think this is a great move by four hundred. Gm john lynch because he's been aggressive. He really inherited a mess in two thousand seventeen. They were coming off all the colin kaepernick drama Jim thome soula era. Which was a fun was which was really fun while it lasted Brian hoyer was his first quarterback when he got there he's made aggressive moves since he treated for jimmy garoppolo drafted. George kittle has fifth round. Pick one of the better draft picks in the past three four years. That's happened for five years. That's happened in the nfl. Just in terms of the value that he got that late in the draft
On Jimmy Garoppolo, John Lynch said what he had to say
"On one other topic here because mel does have the niners moving up to take a quarterback now their general manager john lynch just yesterday in an interview said jimmy garoppolo. I expect him to be our quarterback next year. So what gives in san francisco. Yeah that's probably the boldest statement we've heard from john lynch but you could really play around with all the wording that they've used every single time they talk about jimmy garoppolo and it's still not the thing you wanna hear. If you want. Jimmy garoppolo stay in san francisco and that he is our guy. He's going nowhere. We are invested in. Here we can win with jimmy. You're never hear that because look at it this way. John lynch can just go back after the draft. Or if they decide to move on from jimmy and say yeah which is not going to hold his feet to the fire. They don't need to so the forty niners here from. I think we can all. It's been made very clear. They're not in love with jimmy garoppolo so the table is always open for them to make decisions

"I'm not an overly religious person, but the man upstairs or maybe it's your parents give you DNA and some people get sick more than others. Some people get hurt more than others and you know, I read a story years ago about parenting, and they said, you know, ninety percent of parenting is the night. You're conceived and you're not going to be able to overcome some stuff, and you'll be given certain gifts and certain liabilities by DNA and go from there and parents by all these books and do all these classes and put you in private schools. But in the end, some people are just giving gifts. Some people given liabilities that is what it is. My son never gets sick by get sick more. I don't know what it is. He's never sick. He's never sick, twelve years. I've known him twelve years as six. Actually the first six. I was working lot of hours, but he's never sick. John Lynch played in the NFL. I mean, John John Lynch, one of the hardest hitters I've ever seen now the GM of the San Francisco forty Niners never had a concussion. If you watch John Lynch play, it looked like every hit was a concussion. He never had one. I've asked him. He's like, no, never had a concussion. That's possible. John's got a rocket except it's full of brains and stuff he went to Stanford. So athletes do not like to be called injury prone. They don't like it. Like somehow it's, it's lessening their manhood. And Aaron Rodgers tends to have rabbit ears anywhere. He hears all the criticism, but I want to show you this play against the bears, how close Aaron Rodgers was. I'm gonna show you different angles was from being out for a long time when you number ninety five of the bears, if that guy had an extra ham sandwich for lunch. Three more pounds errands out for the year. That is that is a potentially disastrous. Look at this right here. Look at the weight on air. It's uncomfortable to watch, oh God, God, that's brutal. That is brutal. That's three hundred and thirty two men, man. And I'm saying that's about Aaron Rodgers. He's gonna get heated, not going to like this. He tore his ACL in high school. He broke his foot as a backup to farve in two thousand ten yet concussions in two thousand thirteen broken clavicle in two thousand fourteen Torah calf and was heard in the playoffs in two thousand seventeen. He broke his clavicle and that. Listen, Tom Brady has had one fluke injury that's now an illegal hit or he was standing in a defensive lineman, came out of a pile, hit him in the knee out for a year, but he ally manning, don't get hurt. Aaron Rodgers is six to twelve to twenty. And when he retires, doesn't lift weights who go down. Oh, about two. Oh eight to twelve. Not a big guy. He plays loose errands a little cog. He's he's confident bordering on cocky, and he plays confident bordering on cocky. He sort of believes he gets scrimmage, I can make stuff happen. The bottom line is Tom Brady plays a system. Never Tom's not a cocky player. He's a confident player, but but I say there's about Enron Gers calling. You're reaching you are mask. You. If you're in Rogers and we're talking an inch more pressure and I'm told he will play this Sunday. It's not being reported yet. It's a weird source is the only time this source. Give me the story at the source I deeply trust. I'm told, Aaron Rodgers will play Sunday. Nobody in Green Bay saying yes, errands. Not saying yes, Minnesota's presuming yes, folks, if that's an injury. We got a broken foot concussions, broken clavicle, torn calf, broken, clavicle, and whatever that would be called. You're getting to a point now with Aaron. It's like dude, you gotta reel it back in. You are thirty five in December. You know how it is. Man. When those injuries start piling up, go ask, Derrick rose. You used to doing those injuries. Start piling up thirty thirty two, thirty four, Peyton Manning, it doesn't get easier. It gets harder. So it's one of those things. I know he's great, but does he have to adapt his style? I'd say a little bit. By the way, don't complain about the Packers offensive line in the last decade. They've had twice as many Pro Bowl, offensive lineman as Tom Brady. Ahrends got maybe tweak that style a little bit. Tom Brady couple years ago started practicing being sacked..

But I think there would've it would've been pretty, I highly penalized. Yeah, I got one more thing here. So. A lot of people don't know this about you, but you have a DNA testing company and I have one of your kids right here. And so what you can do, Twenty-three me except you. So I'm So to. I'm going to send you my DNA in, you're going to evaluate my performance. My toughness, my resilience and my spirit based on my DNA and like myself and stuff. Yes. I'm just going to hand this to you and cut out the middleman here. What is this? I think it's a. How would you, how would you just visually like an ocular Pat urine, or is this. Yeah. Here. Did you guys just swear share the swat. We did. We have. Testing our whole podcast. What would you say? Just we'll send this in, but give us, you know, the John Lynch, genetic toughness Pat down would just looking at us and being around us. What are the, what are the options on on our DNA testing? What are you? Performance toughness, resilience, and spirit. Those the the complete rundown of the traits, John Lynch looks all right performance. You guys, you guys are great performance. You guys are still, you know, huge success. Tough. This, I, I don't know. That's debatable I broke my foot and I didn't miss a dog. You get you get points there. What's number three resilience. Resilience stocked bobbling for five years until we got this point just shared a swab. That's pretty reasonable. The last spirit spirit. Great spirit. Okay. All right. So we'll just we'll just hand this directly to you and I'm sure got your DNA lab at home. He just, you know, take that to the people. You'll get back to us John Lynch. Best of luck this year. Thanks man. Excited. Everybody in the building was excited when you guys came around, it's fun. We're coming canton. It was actually pretty awkward because we got confused and thought that you got inducted this year. So I texted Bob and I was like, are you guys gonna being canton? He's like, I don't think John's going until he gets inducted. You know, that's three embarrassing funny thing though, because like my parents raised me that you don't write your own press clippings in that whole deal. And you know, I tell you that's my true feelings that I'm humbled every time, but like I do want in that thing. And you know, it's one thing if you don't think I don't. Maybe I was. I really believe that the way I played. Warrants being in there. Safe to say you would attend your own? Yes, that's gotta. Do. I'd be there. Invented statement. It'd be like I will attend if inductors I will attend if induct I won't do a ceremony at Stanford University breaking news so so can't know how in duck John Lynch..

"Sanders. I, I used to used to say that I deserved royalties from Cadillac who sponsored him at the time because even like he just turned fifty awhile back and all kinds of messages, a dude you're showing up on all this highlights. And good thing with that is there was no shame. I mean, he did it to everybody. He. He he used to really get after the bucks though he's number yard runs on new two. Yeah, we had. We played an eight-man front defense and I was always eighth guy. So kind of the unblock guy. I later learned it pro bowls and stuff talking to their their offense, alignment that they would call that that's berries guy. If you're on blocked and I remember he'd sit there and he never, you know, he was like expressionless, but he'd go. And then he looked back at me and I'd say like auch. Right. As you know, that's probably the one player in my career. Other guys, I respected everybody, but like people say, were you ever frayed. I was afraid of playing against that guy because like I think someone best described it like you couldn't pull his flag in a phone booth. I mean, he was just the guy that you were like, where where is it right? Was that much better than everyone on the field and he could not only could he beach he'd embarrass you, you were making you're making high, learn. Yeah, they're guys over their own. Yeah. When you watch Barry, Sanders highlights like half the defense is looking the wrong way. Yeah. Zac everything. Derrick, Brooks always played them well, and you know that Staerk Brooks, he was. He was just on chr- incredible athlete in his own, right. But he used to say, hey, what he wants to make you do stop your feet and then he can start a whole lot faster than you can't. Stop features go. And so I started doing that later in my career. And yeah, you're gonna swing and miss, but you're also going to play them a lot more effectively it. Did you ever have to tackle Michael Stott or was he always did? I did actually when I went to so. When coach Dungy I came down, Mike was a rookie. I think the the so second year he was a rookie and early in that training camp. I came up from free safety and I'd heard a lot about this guy out. He was and I was going to test the rookie and he and collided and it was as loud as I've ever heard and coach Dungy grabbed me after that. And he said you to you, don't hit each other. You know that that happens no more. It was just a bad deal. And so I never hit my again until I went back as a Denver Bronco in my first year at the Broncos we big fourth and one at the end of the game. We busted and got him in the backfield. So yeah. All right. So we wrap up in a minute because you have a meeting you gotta get to appreciate the time. Do the Seekie question. Put him promo code. Take ten dollars off, seek purchase, go to forty, nine or scam, Levi stadium. Do you think with the two thousand eighteen in the NFL with all the rule changes, how does John Lynch the safety make it now because you were one of the most feared hitters guys to look out for? Yeah. Well, I like to believe because everybody sees me and even Kyle tells me all the time. There's no way there's no way you could play, you know. And I like to believe that if you're a talented play, you just I will say though that sometimes I see like it's just whether use your head or not, they're going to err on the side of safety. And so if you hit someone hard at the safety position these days, you're nine ten at nine times out of ten. Gonna get a flag thrown and that that really when it boils down to it, that was my greatest skill that kind of stuff. They used to tell me in Tampa. We tell everyone else go for the ball..

Barstool runs on Dunkin, the Dunkin run menu for two dollars. You get all those items. Each of them are two dollars and it is great. Okay. Here. He is GM of the forty Niners John Lynch. Okay. We welcome on general manager and future pro football hall of Famer John Lynch say that, yeah, I'm still waiting wait for a little bit, but I tell you what, and this isn't one of those cancers just every time that list comes out. And I think I've been a finalist last four, five years, like to think that you know, the guy that started off just trying to make teams is on a list like that. It really is a humbling time and pinch myself, but I would like to be there you are in the baseball. Yeah. So your jersey drafted by the Marlins and you threw the first pitch ever in organization organization? I wasn't in the big leagues. It was the organization history. Erie, Pennsylvania. Okay. Planted a elementary school where like right field, I was a hard throwing right hander. So like having a right field, that's about two twenty wasn't really, really good thing, but that's the elementary school wall was was all right field fence, but that day was cool. Like Wayne is Ingo and the team at the time and and all the brass and major league baseball. Everybody was there. And for that day, that little elementary school looked like a major league park. Yeah, I'd throw a pitch. They'd come take my hat my shirt, and you know. You know, as I tell people, unfortunately, the first seven, we're balls. So. Remember that we can cut that part. So I mean, you're a football guy through and through live football football, but was there ever point that you were thinking like pretty close because I know in Stanford you're like, I might go play baseball. Yeah. Well, you know, I was drafted higher in baseball. Baseball always kinda was the more natural sport for me. You know, my dad had had a Cup of coffee in the NFL played fifteenth, round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and and so I think there's a part of every little boy that wants to be like their dad, and it was like the more people told me, you know, you ought to stick with baseball. It safer. You know, all those things that we kind of just spur me on that, hey, football really is my passion. You know, I think it was a good thing. After your first couple seasons or even sometimes you like, I'm not sure if this is like you got to think. I mean, we were the, we were the yuks then in Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the worst forms, ninety three great uniform real intimidating bucco, Bruce winking opponent that scared a lot of people. But you know, when I when I wasn't starting for the worst team in football, I started thinking, you know what? I love football, but maybe it's some point. You just got to be smart and baseball's there waiting for me. Maybe I out to go pursue it. Fortunately, I just kept working and things fill my way. I heard that Ronnie Lott might have had something to do with keeping your eyes as well. Various. We played a preseason game year three and right at the end of year two, they threw me in for a couple of games kind of at the time when your, you know three and eleven and you got, or you know, three and ten and you got a couple more games left. All right, kinda like, let's see what they got. I think the general manager made made the. Group put me in and I played fairly well, but I didn't think anybody was watching. Well, Ronnie Lott was watching and you know, I had met him when Bill Walsh was our coach, my senior year at Stanford, and I just switched to safety..

And he said, only if handful of people know the answer that question, he said, the answers that people know they answered questions. Bella check, craft may Brady, and he said, John Lynch, do you know the answer to that question John Lynch? Don't. I don't, and I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it other than you know. Appreciative and and that that we had the opportunity to bring a player like that. And you know, that's pretty says, if you don't, if you don't have that guy at that position, you're looking for it and we certainly were looking for it. And you know, we thought it would come the different avenues. You know, we knew that there was gonna be a a good free agency crop, and that there were a lot of guys in in both our first draft and our second draft. But we pass first draft and we're kind of going about our business and the opportunity presented itself in and we jumped at it. You know, the thing I think that we did, we did well, and it was probably Kyle showing more restraint than me was a just because we trade for Jimmy, doesn't mean that he's our guy moving forward. We're going to give. We feel like it's worth a second round pick to see is this guy and you know it was it was a short amount of time to stick. Her that out, but you know it was it. It was impactful that time we spent around him, and there was a time where you know, we both looked at each other and said, we need to do this and and and that's exactly what we did. And thankfully he was he was open to that idea of of doing something long term as well. And was that point was a specific throw was earn moment the game in a practice and anything John? I, I would tell you it was probably I probably arrived a little earlier. Kyle Kyle's got a high standard for for quarterback. He works with them every day. And you know, I think it was probably after the the Tennessee game where Kyle came in and said, you know what? This kid's pretty damn good. Go ahead and do this and and we flew down to LA and met with his Representative. Don Yee and just said, listen, we've got a bunch of options that are disposal. We can franchise and we can do that whole thing. But that's not what we want to do. You know, we're gonna come strong with our first offer to represent that. We wanna do this thing and and we did, and and they were open to that. So that's kinda how it went down and just one more question on this subject before we move onto Pat bolan because I know I'm sure you're going to have something to say on that front. You know, I just love, listen, his press conference. I listen to him talk football Xs and os all the time. Where where where does he rank with his dad on that front? Do you think John a lot more open transparent, I think is a little more old school in his press conferences. But you know, that's a snapshot of basically why it's my wagon. Do you know I wasn't looking for a job in in this side of football, but I had always had been introduced to it a little by watching my friend, John Elway, do it said, well, if the right opportunity ever came up, I would love to do this the right opportunity to me back then always man..

"And I'm afraid he's just going to go run on the field because even know our our, our medical professionals were saying another week, Richard felt like he was ready. So keeping him off the field was was you do many things as general manager that was that was my past last walk. Can you want. Physical, can you? Can you walk me through a little bit of that Stanford on Stanford conversation right there. Kyle, Kyle ES for sure, mass for meeting become talk with Kyle about it. And Kyle invited me there. He said, I don't want to be her load with sure. I know where he's going, and I said, well, shoot, let's let's bring skin. Linemen we need in me, but you know, it's just Richards very convicted and he felt like he was well, but and and you know the cool thing about it. He felt like, and I remember this feeling when I went to Denver after my eleven here in Tampa, you feel in a sense like you have to prove yourself to your teammates. And you know, I think what we tried to part on him as take that equation. These guys are already respect the heck outta you've are back on them. We need you well for the their season, and we understand that you have to get yourself ready and you ever process. But when feel like the last two weeks he can. He can take care of that process. And at some point, eight trusted us and until four hours later when he didn't again, it came back at it and so it was constant, but that's, that's what makes him a great player and it's fun to see kind of what goes into making people. Great. And I've really enjoyed being around Richard and see and everything that makes him tick. Forty Niners GM's John Lynch right here on the rich Eisen show how good is Jimmy g. Jon everybody talks about seeing them close in how good he is, and we saw just him into Shawn Watson, going at it in that preseason game was just a whole lot of fun, but walk me through your your evaluation year process of looking at this kid and what we're expecting from him. Well, he's he's supremely-talented. I mean, what you just talk about arm talent. It's it's pretty special from that standpoint. And you know, I tell you that we kind of that, you know, when we brought him in yet, you Kyle studied them a lot at eastern Illinois. You just turn on the tape. I'll eat limited limited sample size you. You could see the arm talent, but what you wanna see everything else. And I think the best compliment I could give him and the time that we were around last year when she made everyone better. I think that's what great players do great leaders do they make people around them better? And he did that our defense played better when he was our quarterback, how that works. I don't know, but it does. And that's that's what that's what guys who have the ability to be special players do. And you know, I think the, you know the the answer to that question, how good is he? I think we're all going to see. And you know, we, we had to make. Decision, and we felt really good about what we saw from Jimmy and every aspect how we interact with the guys, how he how, how seriously he takes his craft, how hard he works at it and you know, we're, we're pushing forward with and you know, I I'm excited because I think the work that he and Kyle have had this off seasons really to get a higher level grasp of the of of of our offense. I think it's gonna make them better player, and you know, I think everybody knows including that you know that the expectations are big, but what I like most about him and I think it was ingrained into him with how he was raised and then how he was raised in the NFL at New England is you gotta go show everyone. You gotta go go to work, and that's what he does each and every day..

"Maybe this is the end of the street or or whatever it might be. I might have to prepare and get ready to play the next week and and and any of that. But you know, he's sitting there asking me that he was a, you know, be at my house, it, you know. Five thirty in the morning the next day. 'cause we're going, we're going hunting and I'm like, breadth. There's no way you're going hunting. He said, you get an e brace. You can't walk into woods. You can't climate Tristan. This is he says, he said, be my house, a five thirty. I says, all right, whatever. So anyway, go home after the game and about six o'clock, he calls me six AM. He calls me and I like there's no way bloom off. And he says, where are you? Sway me? Where am I am? I'm in the bed. He says, we're going hunting, you know, let's go. And I said, no, we're not and sure enough. He had gone hunting and he had climbed in a tree neabry sawn, and you know, and just sat in the tree for for several hours that next morning and I'm sitting there going Brett, you know, what are you doing? Dude, you gotta need it is may not make it and you're still climbing trees. And he's I kid. He said, you know, when when you're passionate about hunting, as I am, you're, you're gonna go as often as you can. So that's just that's a little bit of who he is and what he. How he comes across and just just a good old boy that he, he and I had a great relationship maybe at a streak going right on Xtra. Yeah, I know the street kept going well. He played the next week. They send you out the door. What is your valuation of your your current Super Bowl? MVP quarterback based off of last night. There was a lot of talk about what you said at half-time coach. Yeah, and you know, and and there was there was a lot of a lot of talk about that and listen, I, I don't. I don't point the finger and we're all in this together, and that's the biggest thing that I reiterated that after the game that it's not about one person. You know, it's about the team and you know offense really that was just disappointed in our performance, and we had the six possessions in the first half and they ended in two interceptions two fumbles a strip sack safety in the or a sack safety in the end zone and then turnover on downs, and you know for for a team that that prides itself in in scoring points and execution doing things right. We just we just didn't do that last night and and so I was disappointed in in the entire off. Offense and not just one person. So obviously the head coach and a quarterback in a lot of the, you know, a lot of scrutiny and and you know, I guess we wouldn't have it any other way, but but it wasn't about BoyZone about Nick or any other quarterbacks. It was about our our offense. Performance coach, enjoy the book tour best you can, and then we'll chat down the line and certainly enjoy opening night in a couple of Thursdays. Yeah, yeah. Looking forward to that, obviously, getting at home and and open season against the Atlanta, Falcons and good football team coming into the link. So got to get ourselves ready to play with 'em with Carson Wentz starting right coach. Yeah. This is not my first rodeo ARCO Jackley. Right. Take care. You got the author of fearless. See, I'm fearless either. Why I'm feeling. I can't tell. Track coach, Doug Peterson, Carson Wentz to start nice, try. I still think it's Nick Faldo. That's the name of his next book. Nice. Try. I don't know. I think it's going to be Carson Wentz. I think it'll be Wentz once. Who's gonna read it too far. That's all I wanna know. Far, audio books have it on the track part away. I did the audio book for total access. I was hoarse. It is not. That's that's tough. I mean, look there, there are gigs in their gigs, but I'll tell you your own story. It was. It was, but it, you know, just talk in for twelve fifteen hours to read a book. But I did it. I did it 'cause I knew far was going to be. All right. We'll take a break. You missed anything. Koby said last hour. We'll replay that before John Lynch joins us here.
