"Say A thirty percent cut is too high. Let's bring in Ben Brock Johnson who covers tech for here now. So ben in response Apple says the price they charge is not just fair but also safe. Yes. So this is kind of one of the biggest arguments that apple makes and I think Google makes it as well although. Less. So there's a lot of really militia software out there and as an apple user apple would argue you're safe from a lot of it because apple controls in curates it software marketplace giving the customer. A better experience is a cost, right? So apple is offsetting that cost by taking its cut, but it's also true that big picture apple is in this very long process Robin moving its areas of profit. From hardware and into services, and this represents a bit of that plan for Apple, to making some profit or at least revenue in this area. Okay. Well, Tim Sweeney he's described as an iconoclast. He still runs EPA Games out of CARY. North Carolina has not moved to Silicon Valley talk more about his motivations here. So I. Think. Sweeney is cast himself as a pretty unique I in that bears out in reality that fortnight at its biggest property is a unique game. You know in fact, Sweeney argued recently that fortnight is really more than a game. It's kind of a digital space that can be shared by millions of people. At the same time. It's hosted live concert events for millions of players are watching at the same time in this environment that can kind of jump around in interacting and around this specific battle the game has literally put up billboards inside of fortnight telling players to quote. Join the fight against Apple which is very kind of fortnight style someone recently tweeted that no matter who you are for night is better at the internet than you and Sweeney's company is at times proven that out I think it's also important to note here right epic is not a small Game Company epoch makes a lot of money and they wanna make more money and one way of doing that is having a real direct link to the customer and being able to charge the customer whatever it wants for it services and not have a cut taken out by. Apple. Google. It's fortnight's world and we just live well up. Four night is partially owned by the Chinese Mega Company ten cents they have a forty percent stake in EPA Games. So what's going on here? Are they also using fortnight to put pressure on apple and Google who they will see as American competitors? I mean yeah sure. But I don't know that this fight should be viewed necessarily as a kind of Chinese Trojan attack on apple and Google Competitive Advantage. In the world the issues being fought out here are in a Sense really bigger than any one company or country. It's this question of who gets to control the marketplace and whether or not that benefits, the consumer and that sort of thing. So I think there are valid arguments on both sides but I do think that we are at a bit of a tipping point here in the conversation about anticompetitive behaviour among big tech companies and you know fortnight and epic irs spoiling for a fight and it looks like they're gonNa get it. Maybe. They can afford it. Ben? Brock Johnson who covers tech for here. Now, Ben Thank you. Thank you Robin. Okay. One last on the DNC Kamala. "From NPR and Wbz you are I'm Jeremy. Hobson. I'm Robin Young. It's here. Now the Democratic National Convention here's from Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris tonight last night Joe Biden made a personal appeal to voters. Joe's purpose has always driven him forward. His strength of will is unstoppable. And his faith is unshakeable. because. It's not in politicians or political parties or even in himself. It's in the Providence of God. His faith is in you Joaquin Castro Democratic Representative from Texas and Chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus was watching congressman your thoughts about the events so far and Jill Biden's comments. He was inspiring. I thought that It's been an exciting convention so far a very different for everybody obviously in groundbreaking because it's all virtual rather than anybody being together in person. But I think that Joe Biden I did a wonderful job at the school and conveying the idea that her husband is a man of integrity and man of dignity and somebody who will restore competence most of all to the Oval Office. But what you think of the criticism and there has been some the lack of voices from your community the Hispanic Latino Community your own brother was the only Latino presidential candidate he wasn't asked to speak. You very diplomatic about that. The other day on. NPR. He said, well, you know it's a shortened convention, but your thoughts should he have spoken should there be more Hispanic speakers I'll be look I always love to see my brothers speed was there I introduced him at Twenty Twelve Convention but I do think that it's been a short program and they've put luck ABC Latino faces and it'll voices in different roles. So my friends bronchoscope Texas yesterday, you know endorsing Joe Biden for the Texas delegation my friend Longoria who did a great job as master of ceremonies a few nights ago so you've seen different Latino and Latina voices there. Would have been great to see if maybe a few more key speeches by. Similar. Latino folks but it has been a short timeframe and most of all, we all have to work together with one mission, which is to defeat Donald Trump in November. What about the issues? That are particular to your community especially there in Texas immigration the border. Well I think Joe Biden is going to be a big difference for Donald Trump. Donald. Trump has used immigrants and brown immigrants in particular as his number, one political punching bag, and what we've seen over the last three and a half years or so Israel cruelty somebody who has a guy like Stephen Miller and the White House who relishes that cruelty unfortunately Joe Biden is going to be obviously very different somebody who respects folks regardless of immigration status somebody was gonNA. Make sure that people are treated with dignity and respect. We'll the during the primary Joe Biden promised to one hundred day moratorium on deportations. Now it's not on the platform on his website. A meanwhile president trump is using the language he used in his first run for president yesterday, he called immigrants, reports, and murderers. Do you think there needs to be a stronger case for immigration reform? Well, I think that as Joe Biden hopefully wins the presidency and has Democrats I believe will pick up the united. States. Senate will have a chance to work together all of us in pursuing comprehensive immigration reform and hopefully earlier Joe Biden's term, and so I think we're GONNA see a lot of positive changes and also that the human rights abuses that we've seen at the border will stop. Honey get interest among young Latino voters because it appears that it's not there in the primaries Joe Biden lost the young Latino to Senator Bernie, sanders by huge margins. In California then in your state of Texas now, a survey by Voto, Latino finds a lack of enthusiasm again for the Biden ticket. can the Biden campaign. Do Anything to fix that last night. We saw Alexandria Cossio Cortez nominate. It was just a symbol but nominate Bernie Sanders for presidents because there were delegate votes coming in for him. That's a reminder too young Latinos that he is not the candidate and that she is one of the heroes and then she's relegated to this sort of. Second Tier nomination how do you get their enthusiasm? I think Alexandria Areas The future but I think that you'll see a lot of enthusiasm among the knows young idol for Jill Biden. In fact, I believe that we'll see the highest lot you know turn out in terms of percentage of the voting electorate come out to vote this year including young Latinos because as they watch what's going on with Donald Trump they see a man who is ruining their future. When they they dream about their careers and what they want to do in the coming years, and so I think that people are going to be very motivated even though a lot of folks their preferred Bernie Sanders or somebody else primary they know that Joe Biden is much closer to them ideologically and in terms of what they wish for for their country. THAN DONALD TRUMP. Democratic, representative Joaquin Castro. Congressman Castro. Thank you. Thank you. Will Apple. Today became the first company in the US, to hit a market valuation of two trillion dollars, this follows the S&P five hundred closing at a record level yesterday beating previous record not seen since February before the pandemic became a daily part of American life. But does this gain really live with the country's current economic reality joining us now from Chicago is Diane swonk honest at Grant Thornton Diane Welcome back good to be here. Well, what do you make of what's happening with the stock market right now? What does seem that the dissonance between Wall Street and Main Street is a bit deafening these days I think the important thing to remember. Is, the stock market is not the economy and the economy is not the stock market and that's never been more true than it is today. In fact, many ways what we're seeing in the stock market, there's several issues. One is that it doesn't reflect what's going on on main street because it really doesn't reflect the composition of the pain that means street has felt but also there is a bat out there sort of late and bet that massive in widespread consolidation will go to the benefit of those large companies which undermines our dynamism are entrepreneurship in our ability to generate jobs on the other side of this crisis. So, what's your sense of what's going on in the real economy or on Main Street because we do see unemployment still above ten percent we're seeing around a million people filing for unemployment claims each week. That's a lot historically wh what what's your sense of what's really happening? Well, we're really seen on main street, is that many of what people thought were just transitory or temporary employment losses are now becoming permanent employment losses. In fact, what we fear is restoring to see a lot of plateauing in economic data, which is bad when you're still at such a low level, the inability to get out of the depth of the hole created by the pandemic and what kinds of scars. Does that leave us with an wounds for longer term, and that's what we're really worried about at this stage of the game. The Federal Reserve has taken extraordinary steps since this pandemic to prop up a lot of parts of the economy how much of an effect? Do you think the Fed is having right now on the stock market and how much of an effect is the Fed having on everything else? Well. There's no question that the Fed has had an impact on the stock market and we've seen Jay Powell who of the Federal Reserve step out of his comfort zone and out of his lane and say we need more action by Congress the economy needs more fiscal aid and it's not just stimulus stimulus is at the other side of this when we can really recover we need aid so that if covert is the iceberg we. Won't be the titanic to get life boats in the water who supplies for both small businesses and for those households that have been hit hard by this crisis through repeatedly Jay Powell says no fault of their own, but it doesn't look like there.
Here are the proposed phases for reopening the San Antonio economy
"Mayor Ron Nirenberg officially announced the extension of San Antonio stay at home order a little bit of buzz about bad the city council voted to extend the stay home work safe order that was provided by the judge and and I yesterday that is extended now to may nineteenth and that means that low good businesses are partially rope in everything from retail stores restaurants malls movie theaters all allowed to reopen but all at twenty five percent capacity and of course your social distancing guidelines stay in place the mayor says it'll be up to residents to make sure the re opened establishments comply with the order civil penalties are not out of the realm of possibility for those establishments that don't comply as not just small business owners whose budgets have been blasted by this coronavirus cities also taking ahead thanks to decrease tax collections that's why many members of Congress want the next round of relief to include funding for local government congressman Joaquin Castro of Texas predicting some pretty big gaps people are going out and spending money in a great way because they don't have it just before the court so the federal government is going to have to really step in here and close these big budget holes and this doesn't bode well he says the most help needs to go to cities that rely on tourism because that sector of the economy will be much slower to return well the number of restaurants will resume dine in service today but again at that twenty five percent capacity Emily knight heads the Texas restaurant association says she'll be holding her breath it's a big day internally for Texas and for our restaurant community but we can tell that the nation's watching and so the way we walk through this again are reopening process I think we're gonna teach the other states a lot recent survey found that about half of all Texas restaurants will open today but the smaller ones they're going to stay close there watching all the big ones operate what a burgers dining rooms aren't even re opening just yet even though the governor gave the go ahead for them to open but the popular San Antonio based burger chain says it's doing just fine with drive through and curbside pickup for the time

U.S.-Iranian tensions surge after Trump-directed airstrike kills top military leader
"When president trump ordered the drone strike that killed an Iranian military leader it cost most members of Congress by surprise presidents normally brief senior lawmakers of both parties but by all accounts that didn't happen to Ron has now promised to retaliate for the execution of general Qassem Soleimani the US says it's sending thousands more troops to the region joining us now is congressman walking Castro Democrat from Texas he serves on the house foreign affairs committee welcome congressman thank you good to be with you yesterday the administration formally notified Congress about this attack are you satisfied no not at all the president should have notified Congress before taking this action sure consulted with congressional leaders before taking such a dramatic step and having a very high ranking official in the Iranian government killed and knowing that this would escalate probably in the war what more would you like to know from the White House well you know there's the old adage in politics that you trust but verify but Donald Trump as president is literally told thousands of large so with this president and this administration we have to verify and then perhaps trust so we need to see as members of Congress what intelligence they were dealing with when they made this decision that's the first thing but second Congress will very likely take action to limit the president's ability to find any kind of war with Iran Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has asked lawmakers to hear the facts before passing judgement why not hold off before criticizing president trump Smith well because it the president's conducted his foreign policy are very chaotic in a radical way sometimes you'll logical way and in this case in a dangerous way so it's not a situation where the president makes any kind of dramatic action what he wants and then tells Congress it's got to be the other way around and what about this claim from the trump administration that there was a credible threat of attacks on US targets that justified the killing of still money have you seen any evidence of that I have not and Congress has not been offered any evidence or increasing about that to date of perhaps that will come up but again that's where the president's track record comes into play because this administration has literally told so many falsehoods so many lies and because the American people feel like they were duped into the Iraq war that becomes very problematic it makes it very hard to trust the district president the president says he has the power to take out terrorists and Congress has done nothing to take back that power you mentioned limiting funding perhaps but until Congress is willing to pass the war powers act to restrain the president what other options are there well the good congressman take going for example one thing your math that is not be done in about eighteen years out and quite honestly Congress has been on the sidelines of making decisions about war and it has put itself on the sidelines by not taking action if your call in twenty thirteen it on August the twenty thirteen September twenty thirteen president Obama said the proposed a year left to the Congress to take up and Congress didn't take it out and I think a lot of that has to do with politicians being very shy about taking positions or the use of military force because it can come back those decisions could come back to hurt people's political careers the way they have around the Iraq war but Congress has to be able to take a position and get off the sidelines we owe that to the American people but the president that the American people to inform Congress and inform Americans about what a story you're a member of the subcommittee on investigations will you be looking to investigate the president's decision to take out general so the money well I mean it's still early to tell whether they would beat mastication for the first of many of the subcommittee perhaps the whole committee will certainly have hearings on that to assess the situation to find out what happened okay but in terms of the investigation I'll have to see how the facts of that's congressman Joaquin Castro Democrat from Texas congressman thanks so much for joining us thank you the Pakistani city of Lahore has some of the world's worst air pollution Amnesty International calls it a violation of the human rights of every resident of the city for years the government downplayed the extent of the problem but now its citizens are pushing back including some so called scary mobs as NPR's DHEA how deep reports a

"Because when you have I think in the near future when you have the president and you have a house of different parties. We're going to see this more. And more often what the Republicans want to talk about Andrew Johnson. So let's talk about Andrew Johnson. My next guest pointed out in an epic twitter thread this week. There's a lot from the impeachment of Andrew Johnson one hundred and fifty one years ago. That is more then relevant right now join me is Harriet senior writer for the Root Dot Com. Thank you for being back with me and I'm GonNa Start by reading. Some of this twitter threatens epic and you wrote talk about about Andrew. Johnson Johnson was also dumb. Seriously he might be the only president trump after he became president he went around the country holding ending political rallies where he just talked about himself and bill his opponent in one speech he referred to himself two hundred times he even called his opponents. Traders called for them to be hanged the disastrous swing around the circle. Michael towards one of the major reasons. Republicans were wiped out in the eighteen. Sixty six elections. Does this sound familiar. Well it turns out it does. Donald Trump tweets the so-called leaks. Coming out of the White House. Those are massive over exaggeration Blah Blah Blah traitors and cowards blah blah blah. What other sort of symmetry is are there that you could find between trump and Mr Johnson? Well besides the Republican size the majority party or the President's party being wiped out in the midterm elections. You also have the fact that this this was a Johnson was a president who overlooked and excused white supremacy which was really the the singular issue in why he wasn't peach. We'd like to point so this this this arcane legislation call the tenure act but the reason the tenure act was enacted was because Johnson refused to send and his secretary of war. Stanton down to stop these white. Supremacist attacks on blacks. who were getting their rights to vote? So Johnson was the original votes sides guy. He didn't He wanted to appease the confederates and wanted to allow them back into the union and there's so many similarities between Johnson and you know when when Donald Trump is in peace. It might come down to one vote which is exactly exactly what Johnson's impeachment came down to and so there are so many similarities in between these two presidents and it turns out both of them got impeached each. And you know the thing is. I think that people forget because it's so arcane in history the thing about Andrew Johnson to remember is as you said he was the running mate for Abraham Him. Lincoln as a bipartisan ticket but after Lincoln was assassinated he wanted to excuse this out like he stopped. He wanted to stop blacks people from becoming coming full citizens and can you just walk us through. So he's got to impeach because of that because he tried to stop the federal government from helping black southerners lack now newly citizen breath right so after Lincoln was assassinated Johnson became president. And you have to remember. Lincoln tried to keep the Union together by I choosing a running mate from the opposite party. So Johnson was a southern White Democrat who was a slave owner and so what he wanted to do was let the confederate states back into the union. Because remember they weren't a part of the United States without any repercussions for turning into white supremacist traders. So what the Congress tried to do was they look at least you're GonNa have to require them to ratify the fourteenth amendment which made black people forces of the United States remember. We weren't citizens then and you also have to give them the right to vote and at least east start. This white supremacist. Violence and Johnson refused to do that and his secretary of war was going to go down there and do it because remember remember. Most of these attacks were on Black Union soldiers and two particular ones that were most egregious was in New Orleans and Memphis where people just attacked. Black Union. Soldiers for in waters tried to vote and in Memphis four just existing and that is what and prompted Johnson's impeachment because he refused to sit his secretary of war Dow to stop this kind of violence from taking place and down. To the fact that there are so symmetrical down to the pardons right so you have This is another tweet from you. Johnson wanted to go easy on the confederate states. As you just said he wanted to let them do whatever they want. Including killing black people remember the KKK was founded in the state he represented he issued executive orders offering amnesty to confederates and pardons for war crimes fast forward to Donald Trump. Which is this eighty gallagher situation where this man allegedly stabbed and murdered prisoner and he? I said let's get back to business. He's not going to have his pin taken away. So there is a lot of sort of symmetry between the but can you talk about the two parties flipping because I think that's a key part tired of it. A lot of people here that and they think of the current Democratic and Republican parties. They were so different down to radical Republicans would have been the squad. Now I mean right right so we have to remember that beginning in nineteen forty eight is when Republicans started shifting from the Democratic Party in the Democratic Party simply because the Democrats back then the race the party of racism wanted to keep segregation in place and so the only choice that those Democrats has was to lead the Republican Party and I tried to become what they called dixiecrats that it didn't work. They didn't have enough power so they joined the Republican Party. And that's how the the Democrats have back then became Republicans of today and so they were always always party of racism. And then there was a group of senators led by Stevens Senator Stevens who really wanted to give blacks the right to vote. And all of their rights and one of the reasons that we have all of these Constitutional Amendments Thirteenth Amendment which eliminated slavery the Fourteenth Amendment was gave black people the right to be citizens the fourth the Fifteenth Amendment which gave Black People in all people. The right to vote buzz because Stevens really wanted to eliminate all of that with one sentence with said all people are equal under the law. Johnson wouldn't have it and that's why Stevens version of the Fourteenth Amendment never was became the law. And that's also why. A lot of the Republican senators in the impeachment trial a acquitted Johnson because there was this divide between Stevens Stevens breath. Republicans and what they call the moderate Republicans and so that's how Johnson didn't get ousted from the presidency even even though he was a white supremacist style. One vote. History is fascinating thaddeus Stevens very underrated. Thank you very much and Michael. Harriet you are great. Thank you so much really appreciate you being here. Thank you for having thank you very much and coming up now. We can know more about Andrew. Johnson I'll tell you more about another disgraced president and isn't it to continue the fight through the months ahead for my personal vindication it would almost totally absorbed the time and attention of both the president and the Congress in a period when our entire hire focus should be on the great issues the peace abroad and prosperity without inflation therefore resign the presidency effective at noon tomorrow. Richard Nixon was forced to resign for a very simple reason because he cheated to get reelected acted men acting on his behalf on behalf of his election campaign. His.

"And Donald trump power. I am really concerned about this woman. Who in the world doesn't want to know what senator won't vote hope for an election protection bill to keep us safe from from Russian aggression and there's only unfortunately there's only one person America who could let that vote go through and that's McConnell? I think even people in Kentucky should be discouraged about the fact that McConnell doesn't want to allow people to know who supports election protection and who supports the Russians continuing to interfere. Let me tell you simic. It is crystal clear that the Ukrainians had nothing to do with the the two thousand sixteen election and that the Russians not only interfered but interfered in a way that was actually material and that continued interfere. Today you'd think that it would be the most basic basic responsibility of an elected official in Washington to vote for election protection legislation. And and I hope these guys pay a real you'll price at the polls for what they're doing. They've exposed America. They'd kept us at risk when when the intelligence agencies are all telling us that the Russians Russians are attacking us right now. Yeah so we know that Mitch McConnell steak two hundred million dollars in money from Oleg Der Pasta after he led the relaxation of sanctions on it. But we we won't go into that Lindsey Graham WanNa play you a sound bite of your colleague Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina this morning from Doha. Take a listen if you wonder what's going to happen in Washington impeachment will be over a probably by mid January personally. I think president trump will come out of this stronger stronger. What do you make Lindsey Graham? I don't know how long you've known him. Or how well you know him but he now seems to be a notable. I've known yeah I've known him a long time. I we worked on the gang of eight together in two thousand thirteen writing the immigration bill in the Senate which got killed by the Freedom Caucus in the House of Representatives. And we did some good work on that bill together but he has become a guy. Who's just you know the number one defender Donald Trump? No matter what it is he does do you worry that. Donald Trump is intimidating. Him into went or that. Perhaps someone else's intimidating him or do you think he was always this guy and and he's just sycophant whoever's in power. No I I think that. "What am I proud is when I look at Rock Obama? Dion I said Mr President you will not feel the Supreme Court vacancy and yet does the same guy who said we're going to plow on through which was a very weird choice of words given who this man was on the cavenaugh confirmation and who now says they get an open and they're going to fill it. Can you just walk us through this logic of Mitch. McConnell that basically only Republicans are allowed to put people on the federal courts right so it goes with the same logic logic where people were saying that they would block Hillary Clinton on the Republican side if she were President from being able to put anybody on the Supreme Court it really is purely partisan lines and in two thousand sixteen part of the deal there by blocking President Obama's nominee for the court also made it an election issue so when we see that Footage in two thousand sixteen of McConnell saying I told Obama that he's actually saying the Supreme Court is on the line in vote in November twenty. Sixteen because we're going to capture the court and Harry Reid. No relation famously. Had to end the rule the for the filibuster rule on the federal bench because McConnell Emma was blocking not just it wasn't just Mary garland right. I mean they were blocking every one. I would not allow the president of the United States to fill any vacancies. That's right and what's extraordinary. You look at the numbers in his third year. President trump now has fifty circuit judges that have gone onto the bench whereas Obama only had fifty five in eight years and the and the quality of these judges the other issue they are far right wing. They tend to be very young and in some cases as they are deemed unqualified by their own colleagues. This is just one headline here. The Senate Confirms Trump's fiftieth circuit judge despite a not qualified rating trump nominee who who was anti an anti surrogacy was deemed unqualified. She was just confirmed. That was Sarah Pit. Lick and Libor Van Dyke who are deemed unqualified by the American Bar Association. There's a guy that just got confirmed that was deemed in every way a by his own colleagues to be arrogant to be self-satisfied the self deserving and not fit to be a judge and the heat is confirmed him to they just confirmed him to Detroit. It's a fundamental makeover of the federal circuit and one quarter of all circuit judges right now trump appointees just to think about how that's remaking the country and like you said the White White House just boasted earlier this month last month that the average age of the trump appointees on the circuit fifty years old. Yeah and are you able to just in in your reporting. Is this more about controlling the culture down the road saying that the cultures becoming more permissive more liberal for gay people for Trans People. It's becoming Ming more liberal in terms of race and so we're going to hold the line in the courts we're going to say there. You can't change anything. We'll stop the progress. Is it more about that or or is it more about Donald Trump's pecuniary interests. Let's say his taxes and releasing them come to the Supreme Court. He wants to stop that. Can you get the balance on which it is. I think it's Mitch McConnell's game which means the fifty year game and that means they're trying to exactly as you said they're trying to put a brake on where the country's otherwise going anti majoritarian Teheran break. It is an anti-democratic break. That's why he blocked President Obama for two years and that's why he's on a fast track to fill as many of these court positions as possible under trump and with very young people. Those are average age ten years younger than the Obama judges. That's the game. And it's frightening that he's doing. And then you have the Attorney General William Bar saying that in speeches that the country sort of mocking the progressives in the country and accusing progresses trying to take over a country that they're the people people who are liberal thinking on the culture is the majority Detroit and bar is saying this in the most partisan terms possible which is extraordinary for the united. Hi State's attorney general to be talking about it in partisan terms. And he's doing it to the federalist society and we're the judges coming from their Federal Society approved judges. So that's that is the the architecture of this. It's McConnell bar there. Got The brains behind this operation coming from the Federal Society. Not from trump's he doesn't loyalists and things like that. That's the game they're playing and the WHO. What is the risk? Then let's say that they take over which they are doing the federal courts. Walk us through what that means means for the average person for the average immigrant for the average Muslim for the average person. Who was gay or Trans Arabian? So it means a huge regression on all of those issues and it also means voter suppression it means Gerrymandering and supporting that. It means supporting a lot of wealth and money coming in to the Republican side on on elections because of things like citizens united on all these fronts. It changes what Americans can do. Changes rights for Americans especially LGBT Americans as well immigration rights all of it across the board. These are the very people that would stand in their way of having democratic critic choices on these issues didn't they used to call that judicial activism. They did when they thought that that was when they thought more rights for this those same people. Exactly exactly. It's just flipping the terms but the same interests rank had been. Thank you very much for being here. Really appreciated grim. But I'm glad that we're letting the public know coming up. Presidential candidate and Senator Michael Bennet Eh member of the Senate..

"Democrats I would be insisting on Donald Trump being the first to witness in this impeachment trial he gets to plead the fifth either well he could over can plead the fifth on TV but good luck. That's what he wants wants to do. Yeah I would put him on the stand and go through all the facts with him and let the American public see. This is the guy who says he's completely innocent. He's done nothing wrong. Well if he is so innocent. Why isn't he clamoring to be the first witness at this trial? And that's who the Democrats should serve him with a subpoena and ask Justice Roberts to order that he show up in the Senate well to give testimony on this impeachment. Let me give my other prosecutor. Same Question Barbara. mcquade wait if you had one witness and you were able to trade them forgetting Adam Schiff or whatever to testify who would it be. I think Rudy Giuliani. I think he knows where the bodies are buried. If you could get him to testify truthfully I think he could tell you an awful lot about all the Events that occurred in these negotiations with Ukraine. It's not just a call. There's months-long of scheming that went on as well because he's so careful would probably slip in lots of other crimes. That president trump is committed as as well that can be pursued post-presidency first of all the TV show of Donald Trump. And we've heard him talk and Rudy Giuliani. We've heard how talks testifying Donald Trump. Oh my God that would put the put forcing the glove on moment in the OJ. Trial it would put that to the back burner because it would be something else. I think that they should take your advice. And call both those witnesses to prosecute Johannesen. Thank you very much. A Wily Nick Ackerman Barbara mcquade Matthew Miller great great panel. Thank you guys very much coming up. Mitch McConnell Supreme Court ships. They always sale.

"Your podcasts? This was a kangaroo court outrageous to put the country through this. It taint not your data value back folks. You hit me Joe McCarthy. Look like a piker with what you've done with the electronic surveillance in vow we're not Republicans. Screaming is not a defense. It's also really unpleasant pleasant and unwatchable unless it's on anchorman as our next guest right in his new Emma. NBC think peace in the face of such overwhelming evidence that their boss Donald Trump is guilty. Hilti House Republicans impeachment strategy seems to be distract this eve and yell joining me now is Kurt Bordello contributor for NBC News thing and former spokesperson for the House Oversight Committee many. I love talking with you Kirk because you know the other side would do. Yes so let me show you them doing the thing this is the. I'm sorry I think it might be elements six. This is them yelling during McNair impeachment. Hearings take they don't like the president they don't like the president's supporters and they dislike a so much they're willing to weaponize government few years years ago was the irs more recently was the FBI. And now it's the impeachment power Congress going after sixty three million people and the guy we put in the White House. My question question is where's your crimes. There's no allegation of bribery. In these articles. There's no allegation of extortion. Why aren't they in this impeachment document because they don't exist? What what is the point of the night? I think that Republicans clearly early understand that the facts the truth is not on their side and the only thing they can do is repeat the same things over and over again and each time they repeat them. They have to do it. Louder they have to do it with more emphatically because for them they only care about those ten seconds. Soundbites are GONNA play on Fox News. It looked like they were outraged about something. Yelling because is like the average age of the Fox viewers like ninety eight. And they're worried. They won't screaming. Because they're paradigm screaming equal strength. Hashing Strength Equals Righteousness. Yeah in recklessness equals correctness I guess and maybe Donald Trump can't hear him like I need to hear that okay. Here's two this is the other thing thing that they've tried to do which was turned the impeachment of Donald Trump into a show trial of someone knows other than people on Fox which is hunter button. Here it is. Let's let's talk about what Vice President Biden did. This is seeking the truth about corruption. There was also significant. Reason to believe that the Biden's were involved in corruption. The facts of Mr Biden's actions in Ukraine certainly look like they cross that line. I it seems absurd but this is the thing that works. When you're on the other side you know this works that you can create a false narrative of of corruption? They did it to Hillary Clinton around Benghazi. More people don't know where Benghazi is on a map but even some debt liberals one way saying she must have done something wrong. How does that work how how to help them understand? Benghazi is the perfect example for this joy because you have have something that started with a terrorist attack on on the diplomatic compound and had nothing to do with Hillary Clinton it all had to do with the four Americans that were killed that night but Republicans were able to do what we were able to do. When I was there is turned it into a political theater to the point where Republicans created a special committee just to investigate Hillary Clinton Clinton cold emails and much to Hillary's credit? She showed up there and sat there for eleven hours. Republicans by the way also had sixty seven closed-door deposition issued during this whole thing. They had more hearings on Benghazi that about them. There were about nine eleven and remember what they said that these were pre impeachment hearings. They were threatening to impeach teacher before she was even elected president. My if Hillary Clinton had won the presidency make no mistake about it within the first two years Republicans still control the House. They would have been one hundred percent would have brought right up. Things like the Clinton Foundation her emails as a reason to try to get rid of her with a little help. The New York Times gave them by pumping those emails stories. Anyway but let let let me not go into that rant if if you were advising the Democrats right now on what they should be doing in these impeachment hearings in order to keep the public focused and to keep Republicans from being able to do a Benghazi Ozzie. Here what would you advise them to start. Fighting fire with fire joy. I mean every time they say Hunter Biden why are they not responding. With what about Jared Kushner. What about trump what? What about? Donald Trump's tax returns every time. They say that this is a rigged hearing. Rick Show. Why are they not playing? Soundbites of Republicans like Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows and Louie Gohmert when they were all all four congressional oversight and hearings subpoenas when they were investigating Barack Obama. There are a litany of sound bites. You could play of these guys. Declaring that Congress has authority you to get witnesses to get documents to compel truth. Why don't they ever throw that back in their face? These hearings I think they should put Hang Johnson and charge you. Those were watching. We'll understand why because because he might be the only one that knows that to truly clapback. Kurt Marbella it's always great to talk to you and we will continue talking throughout this whole impeachment. Thing coming up. William Bar does his best to cover up yet. Another one.

"That precedent is horrifying. It should be horrifying to every American. That president could theoretically do that with foreign country. I think Congressman Castro is exactly right. The kind of abuse this president has engaged in is the sort of abuse that we don't want any American president to be able to engage in against any citizen. Not only his main political rival getting foreign governments governments to do your dirty work and go after American citizens whom you don't like or who are on your enemies list or whose business business activities disturb you or who are your critics is what dictators do it's what despots do and our freedom our liberty. Our right to vote is not secure as long as a president of the United States especially one who says he can't be indicted. He can't be investigated and he's going to Stonewall stonewall and the attempt to impeach him can get that kind of power focused against any citizen. We're all helpless against that. Yeah that's why this matters to us. It's not just a theoretical question. Yeah and as Jeffrey Toobin said on on CNN. It's something only a president could theoretically due to a fellow citizen citizen which is why it's important. I want to move on to the United States. Senate Mitch McConnell has basically said and basically said he said he's rigging the jury that the outcome is already determined he will determine that Donald trump will be acquitted. So you know you almost wonder whether or not former congressman. David Jolly is correct. He said earlier on up on this network that may be the house shouldn't send the articles over to him or at least delay sending it. We've talked about that before with you. What do you make of that idea of deleting that last line in the articles of impeachment that says they shall be sent to the Senate and at least holding for now well in an op Ed in the Washington? Post early this June and I proposed that as a thought experiment. I said if it should turn out that Mitch McConnell in his usual way comes right out and basically says the fix is in so that the so-called trial will be just a whitewash that will never remove the stain from the president but will also not have any chance of removing the president and disqualifying him from future office that in that event the house should consider simply concluding after a fair proceeding of its own and this one was fair despite the complaints after concluding that the president is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors just sit on it and not send it over to the Senate. That was my proposal but I don't think it's awfully realistic. Fact is that both articles of impeachment would have now been voted by Judiciary Committee. There is no real chance that between now and next Wednesday that last sentence. We'll be taken out and even if it were I wouldn't put it past Mitch McConnell to say that under the constitution he can take these articles up once. The articles of impeachment are themselves voted by the house and there would be a plausible argument to that effect. So it's an interesting idea. Actually I thought thought it pretty interesting when I proposed it back in June but I don't think we should wasted a lot of time. Speculating about it ain't gonNA happen. Yeah all right well. Let's look at some things things that maybe could happen. Well one of them would be. There was a piece in the Washington Post that talked about some things that Democrats could do in the Senate to try to force McConnell to hold hold a real trial. Democrats could demand. This says that the mountains of documents the administration refused to turn over to the house impeachment inquiry the admitted as evidence in the Senate Trial Democrats could it also insist on the right to call witnesses such as acting White House chief of staff any former national security advisor Bolton as well as Giuliani and they could use the nine thousand nine hundred ninety impeachment of Bill Clinton has a model to press such demands could force that to happen with just floor votes with four votes. They would have a total of fifty one. Assuming Ming Vet mentioned didn't both the Democratic Caucus. If he did they would need five votes but fifty one votes can basically do anything in the Senate of this process. It's not completely up to McConnell although he acts as though he is the ruler and chief the Senate so it is possible to put pressure on him to have a real trial. And I think there'd be a lot of public support for that they will then threaten. Oh if you do that. We we'll call Hunter Biden. We will out the whistle blower. I think those are empty threats. I don't think the nation was stand for that kind of circus so I do think the Democrats should should press hard to make this a real trial and remember if it isn't then I think what you said earlier making this President The O.. J. Simpson of presidents residents would be his fate. That is he would have not only a red asterisk next to his name but he would become the first president who was impeached in his first term. Who fundamentally was not really acquitted but just given a pass in the Senate and he would then go down down in history in the ignominies way that is misconduct deserve? I think that would have effect for the future. It would make it less likely likely that future presidents would be as outrageously lawless says. This one has been no and trump should remember that eventually a court did get OJ on another thing and there are other courts out there that are looking at the things that Donald Trump does very quick absolutely before. I let you go val. DEMINGS member of Congress from Florida has called on Mitch McConnell to recuse himself itself because of what he said on Fox. We think everyone doubts that that's going to happen. But you said about Mr McConnell Moscow. Mitch is potentially essentially afraid of crossing Vladimir Putin oligarchs like older der Pasta owner of the aluminum plant. That ended up in. Guess where Kentucky Demand Loyalty to Vlad do do you. Do you believe that. Perhaps one of the reasons that Mitch McConnell is so unsparingly and supinely loyal. Donald Trump is that he worries about whatever it is. The Russians got on the R. N. C. and not just the DNC. Or is it just money ABS- absolutely I think money is part of it. I think he. He is very much beholden to Vladimir Putin I think many Republicans are now and the really scary thing of how they're moving in lockstep behind trump is that they are all beholden to Moscow and trump has again invited Russia to help and Russia's cyber attack pat units have been doing a lot of mischief around the world. I think that we really need to worry about our national security. That's why the first article of impeachment talks about the president's abuse of power threatening not only the integrity of our elections but our national security. I think we are in a scary replace and this president really needs to be brought under control. Indeed I'm not a constitutional scholar as you are Sir but I do know that one thing. The framers feared the most was foreign influence on our leaders leaders and if God forbid Moscow has a undue influence on one of our two major political parties. God help us Laurence tribe. Thank you as always for being here. In fact you joy thank you coming up house. Republicans once again prove.
Latinos are sorely underrepresented in film
"Welcome to the frame. I'm John Horn. Latinos have been underrepresented in Hollywood for a long time both in front of and behind the camera last week a delegation from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus came to La to discuss the issue with Industry Leaders Congressman Joaquin Castro of San Antonio is Chairman of the Group and he says the Hispanic Caucus has a couple of concerns about representation. We worked in in Los Angeles on two issues in particular the gross underrepresentation of Latinos in the entertainment industry and the second getting is portrayal of Latinos in television and film for example. This latest Annenberg report found that of the lead characters on film. Twenty eight percent played criminals which is obviously for any American community or segment of society Misrepresentation and so we had meetings with six or seven studios and executives from those studios. We met with a few of the Gills. The street actors Guild Sag after and the directors guild and and we had a chance to meet with about forty Latino actors actresses producers directors and others about the Hollywood ecosystem Oh system and the challenges that they face hitting work in that system. It's not just the kinds of parts. That Latinos are getting. It's the number of parts Latino. Oh actors barely got four and a half percent of the more than forty seven thousand speaking roles in the top one hundred grossing movies from each though past twelve years and Latinos make up a huge percentage of the US population but also the movie going public. It's almost a quarter of all. Ticket buyers are Latinos. So was there any explanation explanation about that. Disconnect yeah I mean we had pleasant meetings with everyone And you know and everybody talked about. The things are doing to try to do better better. I can't say that there was a satisfactory answer to that. Issue up they did talk about their different pipelines for writing for directing. You know this and that that they're working on. But as I said to those folks in the meetings look if you're at three percents now of Latinos in front of the camera behind the camera then. Whatever you've been doing doing in the past obviously has not worked? So what are you doing right now. And what do you plan to do to improve those numbers And it's very strange that an industry like Hollywood this considered liberal and progressive. Then he would have worse numbers than the fossil fuel industry the oil and gas industry in my home state of Texas Texas. The numbers obviously don't lie the representation of Latinos along with a lot of underrepresented groups in Hollywood is terrible. Why is it important that that it changed? And why is it important to you personally. Well there is a cost to that underrepresentation in C. Suites In terms of casting directors producers etc and part of that cost is a misprint trail of Latinos. I think get no. We not only affects how the how people see themselves but also how. The larger American public sees a Latino community. So when a president or we're politician or anyone else gets up and says that Latinos are criminals and rapists murderers and people turn on their television set and they go to a movie movie and that's exactly what they see then. It affirms that idea for them that the person who's speaking is right and taken to its extreme. It leads to what you've gotTa Know Paso Texas a few months ago which is a madman driving Ted Hours to kill twenty one people. Because he sees Hispanics as invaders to the United States never mind that Latinos have been here for generations. So Hollywood has to take a really deep and close look in the mirror and start to change and change -serily not just by lip service but actually changed. And how do you think that will come about because we've had study after study leave for the last decade that's pointed out these numbers and it doesn't seem like the needle is moving. Do you see any hope for optimism. You you know I. I was Optimistic after it was conversations in terms of Congress's involvement in Congress does have jurisdiction over tax incentives. That provided to the film industry. Just like different state. Legislatures have jurisdiction over tax incentives. That are offered in different places where movies and television television productions are set. But I I'll tell you I did tell some of the folks in these meetings that for us for those of us that were on that trip for the Congressional National Hispanic Caucus and I think for I would dare say for many other members of Congress we have is a mark Zuckerberg level problem here in terms of Hollywood. We have have a problem where an industry is acting incredibly irresponsibly and doesn't seem to be doing very much to change it so the idea that you would bring executives from from Hollywood in front of Congress. The Judiciary Committee is the committee that has jurisdiction basically over Hollywood. That idea I think is something that we should consider consider. Let's assume that these Hollywood executives who aren't really doing what maybe there should be doing. Were to testify in front of Congress. What would you ask them? Congress has brought different industries In front of it to question them on their practices in terms of hiring and diversity and what commit. But they're making do those things and so I ask him questions about the processes they put in place. I mean. Look when you're in a city that is forty percent. Latino in a state is forty percent Latino country that's eighteen percent Movie ticket buyers. That are twenty three percent over indexed on movie ticket sales and this group of people only has about three percent of the rolls when you combine in front of and behind the camera you get to a point where you have to admit that that's systemic exclusion of a group of people and when we have systemic problems not just individual problems or one person here there air when you have problems. Those are the kinds of things that Congress and legislatures should get involved with Joaquin. Castro represents San Antonio in the US House of Representatives. He also chairs the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Congressman. Thank you so much for coming on the show
Acting spy chief tells Congress the 'whistleblower did the right thing'
"Today the acting director of national intelligence appeared before the house intelligence committee Joseph Maguire told the committee that the whistle blower did the right thing but he was not required to immediately notify Congress representative Joaquin Castro disputed Maguire's claim that there is protection the conversation was by the president to the present of Ukraine as you know and it is his I am not a Mr Maguire I understand that that cannot be that cannot be an ultimate shield against transparency Ohio Republican Mike Turner had concerns I've read the transcript of the conversation with the president and the president of Ukraine. concerning that conversation I want to say. and this is not okay but then said this was not the subject of the hearing
Trump fundraiser puts billionaire host on defensive
"Welcome back to the bench well once you castigate president from the **** and all of his supporters is not to say that basically allows you to do anything the New York times today is coming out and making the case that basically all trump supporters should be docks even though the fully admit that those trump supporters are being harassed he's number one from The New York Times they say trump opponents want him to name one to name his big donors his supporters say it's harassment by Katie Rogers and Annie Karni they start out for many businesses a sudden deluge of phone calls made signal an influx of new customers but most of the twenty five calls just inherits received before noon on Thursday from people who wanted to tell him he was a white supremacist for donating money to president trump X. the owner of precision pipe rentals in oil and gas services company in San Antonio said quote I've had people say Hey we're gonna use your for business but we found out your racist we hope you burn in hell your business will go with you the reason for the calls was terraces inclusion this week on a list of forty four San Antonio area residents of maxed out their donations to the president's reelection campaign that list we shared on Twitter by representative walking Castro a Texas Democrat who serves as the chairman of the presidential campaign of his twin brother William Republicans have accused the congressman of dioxin private citizens and trying to incite harassment of the president's supporters now I find it hilarious that The New York Times which will simultaneously claim that from incited violence will suggest that Joaquin Castro had no role in inciting harassment of businesses whose names he tweeted out and call them complicit in murder effectively so yeah I I'm not going to stand by your standard of causation dies I think that you've got this little mixed up your time has a similar uproar over from donors is playing out in the monied enclave of the Hamptons we're real estate developers are hosting to fundraisers for Mr trump on Friday progressives looking for a way to express their anger and Mr trump and the people who support him have threatened to boycott SoulCycle the popular spin studios chain an equal knocks high and Jim both owned by the billionaire developer Stephen Ross was scheduled to host the president calling out people who fund campaigns is not a new tactic but the question of how much should be publicly disclosed about those donors has been an issue that Republicans led by the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have repeatedly raised in recent years in a heated political environment boycotting businesses a big donors has led to a new round of outrage at either end of the political spectrum okay so the New York times openly acknowledging that the people that walking Castro targeted are being harassed so there are times then has an editorial from the editorial board it's called may the SoulCycle boycott make democracy better and then they try to separate off what Joaquin Castro did from what the people what kind soul cycle that which is impossible because it's the same exact thing it is targeting donors to political campaigns on the basis of their politics and then suggesting that they're responsible for great evil and known to patronize their businesses and it is our pitchforks and torches outside their house it is the same exact thing New York times is embarrassed the walking Castro precipitated harassment of specific people but they kind of like a stack again that's a the editorial says this instance like walking Castro's up stage a real concern Americans should want to know more about who funds political campaigns I'm we already have transparency laws in place we already know who funds political campaigns that's not what's going on here what is going on here is that when you call trumpet **** when you call his supporters **** and then you say here all the people who donate money to **** you should not be surprised when the political climate change that you are incurring racks up and continues rack up again I'm focusing in on the left today because the reactionary left is doing this this week trump is raise the temperature in the past and I've read too many one when he has yeah but the the raising the political temperature from left this week has been utterly astonishing in the aftermath of an attack but you to Lisa brought us together for a moment of morning when we're on the same page with regard to white supremacism so the New York times editorial board tries to tries to distinguish the same movement to go after equinox and SoulCycle from what what walking Castro did is that a popular form of protest boycotts more often serve to drop public attention to an issue and to affect concrete change with Mister Ross critics may or may not managed to inflict any financial pain they nonetheless are to public publicly demanding that he answer for and perhaps ultimately rethink his political giving in the process they're sending a signal to other major contributors to carefully consider their choices less they faced a similar accounting public shaming seems to be at the core a Mister Castro street well the outcry from Republican officials as much louder the Texas congressman was accused of inviting harassment and encouraging violence against his own constituents there is rich irony about the Republican self righteous that Baba then they say well it's kind of embarrassing that that Mr Castro did this right they say that he links disclosure from policy and that is that that is a bad thing but then they conclude I basically saying that we should increase the amount of coverage of this sort of stuff they say for now one basic step maybe for media outlets and other advocates for transparency to keep working to ease access to and promote interest in donor data more broadly in other words were embarrassed the people harassed the people that were targeted by walking castles do more of that more of that would be good the only problem is that Castro said the quiet part out loud and the people he target or the little people but if they've been the big people it would've been fine that wasn't I think it's perfectly appropriate to call out major donors for whom they donate to I do not think it is appropriate to boycott businesses in which they invest specifically because they happen to be investors in that business especially if the particularly and only if the business does not reflect the policy preferences of the person at the top so I don't know which businesses George Soros is invested I don't frankly I don't really care because as long as those businesses are not reflecting his political preferences I will shop there I think George Soros donates a lot of people to people I really just like I think that is politics are egregiously bad in many many ways really terrible in many ways I think funds a lot of groups that I really can't stand but I'm not gonna stop shopping I'm not going to become part of a country where everybody is expected N. N. must in fact go through the corporate boards of every major corporation that produces a product that we eat where or entertained by and then decide whether those people reflect our politics by the way important to note one of the major funders of Marvel entertainment is a trump donor so guys to start start burning your Avengers endgame DVDs well well that it is all making the country so much stronger and so much better in the aftermath of something as terrible as what just happened the fact that we can't get together on anything is really indicative of a of a serious

B. network I was watching they collecting information cataloguing and it was watching of their reactions some people whose names war publish by Joaquin Castro who is the twenty minute Robert R. islands well yeah and cash flow I'm the radical Castro family communist mom and dad down there in San Antonio and you know walking Castro published an ad here's the here's a guy running his brother who lien's presidential campaign and then they're they're not identical plans any publishes this ad supposedly of trump donors and they're trying to tie these people to the shootings these are San Antonio business owners and people and the castros run this AB they also inadvertently publish the names of some of their donors a lot of people contribute to both parties and both sides of the aisle and some of these donors this is another form of push back but I'm taught some these donors are livid that they're being a length of this and of course the Castro about one right what was your point why why did you publish that list of names well well we use we use in people need to know for what reason well we're not we're not trying to cause any mileage to be visiting the hell your not you are certainly holding him up for astra's is Asian and ridicule that you're hoping that people boycott their businesses or worse and some of these people whose names are not radical activists they're just donors don't they donate because politics is a protracted protection racket you don't need to both sides giving yourself insurance no matter who wins your covered and they find their names published on this ad being willing to buy the Castro brothers as having some responsibility for these white supremacist mass shootings if they donated to trump and these people are are what many of them are just livid about it it's another example I'm back fire now I'm calling it back for the media isn't this is key to understand the media cannot bring itself in any way shape manner form to do anything other than promote all of this they they cannot attack nobody can nobody on the left can attack anything the left does because those revolutionaries gonna come swallow them up they all know what it is I'm adulterated fear that is governing a lot of these presidential candidates well all I can lose with Warren is is doing a town hall in some farm field out in Iowa right now and the crowd is so small it didn't show it and she's out there yes I don't I don't know no question about the president of the United States is a white supremacists always see it as doing a panel are all a plot to get a list of worn out pretty soft pretty tough legal man call a president either states white supremacism New York times double check with the listeners warned you really mean is I damn well meant to say that he's a white supremacist now they're saying these are good people in Charlotte Knowles's of lie after lie after lie right now I I contend that not all of it but part of this is because these candidates you know when when I see Tim Ryan who tried to save his party a little bit in the last debate when I see him pro testing with the mob and the turtles house they're scared to death of their all scared of Twitter they're scared now don't misunderstand I'm not saying that if it weren't for the radical left base these people wouldn't be as left wing as they are I'm not saying that they still hate trump they be doing everything they could to get rid of trump they're still radical leftist I'm just telling you that it's a bunch of invisible people people are not known who are on Twitter for the most part who have put fear legitimate real fear in the hearts all these Democrats including Biden here here Joe Biden is out there what's the the Biden under fire for comments on segregation is gave eulogies for Robert Byrd Mysteron Thurman this story is only from June twentieth all how we have forgotten but it wasn't that long ago that Biden was being ripped to shreds as a racist because he was singing the praises of the segregationist senators now what what Biden's doing trump is the K. K. K. says Biden trumps friends are in a K. K. K. what is happening and this is a key thing and you're you're you're probably gonna die out what is happening is that who ever this Democrat basis when I say invisible radicals on Twitter that is most of them but not all of them are invisible and not all of them there are anonymous that we know who some of them are but the point is they are scaring me all of these bit white like the media scares Republicans the same things happening on the left but it's a different direction it's radical leftist potentially deadly and dangerous violent leftist revolutionaries are scaring the hell out of Democrats who previous to this season have not expressed this degree of radicalism now what that means is in addition to many other things is that they are all losing what ever authenticity they had they have become an echo chamber and they are all beginning to sound alike and there's now a contest among these people on the left to see who satisfied this raised leftist revolutionary gang the best and the fastest in the soonest and I'm just telling you in politics when you'll start sacrificing your authenticity for whatever reason your talks to because people pick up on that the fact your authentic or not Hillary Clinton is not authentic and we knew she would not that Bill Clinton was seen as authentic someone's Barack Hussein Clinton I'm trump I'm sorry in Spain is seen as often and these people are sacrificing they are allowing it to be overwhelmed by their their fear and the feeling of necessity they have to make sure they pose the proper way to make sure they say and do what ever it takes to keep the crazed left wing revolutionaries away from them now back to the New York times story a little bit more detail here again it's by a man named Nate Cohn don't assume trump's approval rating can't climb higher it already has if you go read this what you're going to find this guy has really toned down what he thinks is a dangerous signal they're bad warning signs for the left out there in the polling data he's analyzed but he is really catching it so that he doesn't become a target so he doesn't get swallowed up and eaten by this rag tag bunch of people that descended on the New York times earlier this week and threaten to cancel their subscriptions because of a headline and the like so his son had millions of Americans who did not like the president twenty sixteen now say they do can I tell you how much against the grain this runs in a left wing conventional wisdom left when conventional wisdom is important remember they lie to each other and they believe their lies like in twenty sixteen they all believe Hillary gonna win in a landslide they believe their poles they believe the bull that they tell each other and so the conventional wisdom among leftists is that everybody hates trump and that they are succeeding in causing people to abandon trump is this stuff this white supremacy in this white nationalism it has replaced Russian collusion folks that's now gone that bombed out there was never anything to it in the first place but you know why it's gone because with white supremacy and white nationalism you don't need any evidence and you don't need a special counsel and you don't need an investigation you just need a whole bunch of people making the allegation and then you need your sick of frantic when media amplifying at all you don't need years and a bunch of leaks from a bunch invisible Intel community people live in New York times claiming trump colluded with Russia all the while you don't need a fake dossier that can't be verified you would just need a bunch of people saying it and so white supremacy and white nationalism has replaced collusion in the ongoing effort to dislodge and get rid of trump in the process these people have convinced themselves that they're succeeding they have convinced themselves that people hate trump this is why trump go sell Paso in Dayton yesterday you don't get factual stories about how much love there was for drop you want to see it we posted a bunch of pictures that Rush Limbaugh dot com right there at the top of the homepage you should go there it's not for members only anybody can go it's a bit it's on the free side and when you look at these pictures you'll be a main St how many African Americans are happy and some form of all white supremacists and then you'll notice how many women are trying to get closer and closer to the president they are smiling they are gleeful and what is he why he's all woman hating misogynist they tell us so you don't get these stories you don't hear anything of the sort because they can't afford to deal with the truth they have to live in the fantasy land that they've created were everybody hates strong more and more people hate drunk people are abandoning trump because now people realize is a white supremacist so forth yet the polling data millions of Americans who did not like the president in twenty sixteen now say they do so it's a double whammy trump's base is not abandoning him trump's base is saving over this trump's base is livid over this and the soul are a lot of other people so not only is trumps based not abandoning him a bunch of people who didn't like him in twenty sixteen now do so Mister Coleman here is trying to warn these lunatics who need to be in institutions with men and women and little white coach supervising them he's trying to tell them that every god out there but he's got to be very careful as they come and kill him and I think part of the why can't support that trump has is reflected in all polling not just the polling that Mister Coleman here has analyzed here's a pull quote end over the last few months some of the highest quality of public opinion polls show the president's job approval rating has inched up to essentially match the highest level of his term what how can that be when the media and the left think they have all finally destroyed trump here's another pull quote it's true that the president's job approval rating has been young usually stable when compared with other presidents what what what what it's true it's true the president's job approval rating has been unusually stable when compared with other presidents but thought possibility that he has lifted the his approval ratings however fleetingly to match the highest levels of his presidency is a reminder of the ceiling all this support is higher than some may think this guy he is already at the edge of the cliff he's in a wheelchair to some Democrats about to push him over he's got a really counts this but he's telling these people it ain't what you think you are not making trunk more unpopular and you'd better real that they can't come out and say that because they'll cancel a subscription to The New York Times and all hunt this guy down and make a movie about the hunt for Nate Cole and that's the end yeah your.

Joaquin Castro said he ignored requests to relinquish his phone to record video of detained migrants at border facility
"Pediatrics released these pictures today drawings made by ten and eleven year old children in macallan recently released from customs and border protection custody depicting themselves behind bars and in cages we have almost no video oh what if like in these detention camps except for this which were shocked by texas democratic congressman joaquin castro who smuggled some sort of recording vice into a facility bility on monday as part of congressional delegation even though border patrol confiscated members phones schmidt castro joins me now why did you think it was important to defy their worst confiscate your phones to get a footage from inside because the country has to see what's being done in their name and also because i don't believe that the executive branch has authority to tell the legislative branch with oversight power over these federal federal agencies that we can't document what's going on inside side and we asked the border patrol chief and as an attorney that was their very specifically the site the law they were relying on to keep us from documenting what what's going on and they couldn't find a single law so at that point chris consider their request a courtesy and there's too much at stake for me to abide by courtesy at this point the funny show their shows women who have appear you know they're not they're obviously not young young children and their their their adult women 'em on the floor there in that sell it looks like a jail cell what's striking to me is what you guys saw they knew you were coming this is not a spot visit is that correct that's right but they didn't think we would get into that sell the reason that we got ended outsell is because alexandro cossio cortez insisted that she be able to talk to those women and basically you know you know push away in there and so when we got in there the women started telling us their stories some of them fifty days there in detention some separated from their kids some said they've not been given their medications the sink was not working there is no running water so when these women use the restroom there is no way for them to wash their hands so what we saw in that cell it's consistent with what the pediatricians have said about other facilities i also want next door and visited people at another facility there is a woman who is in the early stages of pregnancy an in that facility there is a sink was working there were paper cubs were being reused by the people in that sell a so these conditions are deplorable a human rights are being neglected and the president had this to say if illegal immigrants are unhappy with the conditions in the quickly built around fitted detention centers just tell them not to come all problem solve what do you think of that well a first these are mostly asylumseekers they have the legal right to petition for asylum in the united states just as anybody across the world has the right to do that in any nation and also it shows you that what we already know that the presidency's migrants as subhuman he dehumanizes them for political purposes and politically gain and there is reporting other supporting republican recover earlier in the week about a a facebook group with thousands of members in cbp that posted offensive racist sexist derogatory means i'm really some disturbing stuff on were reporting tonight from politico that actually dhs officials were alerted to this some admitted apparently anonymously the they had been monitoring it per quote intelligence and that this would do it was notified to see bp as far back as twenty sixteen which is under the obama administration administration what does that say to you about the culture of cb p c b p is broken and they have it culture problem at this point the bad has overtaken the good and there are good agents who were trying to do their best to take care of the people in their custody but they're overwhelmed by the system and they're also under cut by the kinds of agents who were making those violent vulgar comments and right now there is no system in place within cbp that can really hold agents accountable when they do wrong and that's what we're seeing is it these people continue

Trump delays ICE raids but threatens deportations unless Congress revamps asylum
"Democrats in congress are criticizing President Trump. For using the threat of mass immigrant deportations as a bargaining leverage, as NPR's. Bobby Ellen reports. Trump delayed a plant sweep of thousands of migrants and urged Democrats to make changes to asylum laws. Trump sudden reversal on his plan to have immigration and customs enforcement arrest families in ten cities comes just as congress moves closer to approving a four point five billion dollar package in border aid. The funding will address humanitarian problems on the border, including improving conditions for children in detention had the raids gone as planned the bipartisan Borderie deal could have been endangered. House speaker, Nancy Pelosi said she welcomed the delay. She originally called the plan rates quote, heartless and Representative Joaquin Castro, the chairman of the congressional Hispanic caucus said threats of targeting immigrants shouldn't be a negotiating tactic from the country's president and spokesman said in a statement that if congress doesn't make it easier to deport migrants. You see we we had a problem then Julian Castro put his massive brain to it and said I can solve this problem. And the way he's going to solve the problem is to track a legal immigrants using ankle monitors rather than detaining him. Okay. Can't make it up. He made the comments talking about how he would deal with migrant families crossing the southern border. This is according to the Washington Examiner. He said what I believe we could do and what the Obama administration did do I believe toward the end of its tenure was to look at things like ankle monitors. So that you're able to monitor where people are in the country. This is this is a very strange concept. Because what he's saying is. Don't worry about the border. Let everybody come in. And we'll just put an ankle monitor on them. And then we'll talk to him later. Tell me how this is a sound policy..

Democrats is that real is it being exaggerated what is the state of the democratic internal conversation about what? It is and what it ought to be I, think some of. Republicans with with I would say in general political, parlance I'm not Elevating someone just saying they had superlative resumes many of them did. Governors senators accomplished political figures yeah. Any vanquished them all and that was a definite outsider mentality taking hold of the Republican party do you think for the Democrats they're. Gonna want someone that is as outsider I think it's. Going to be the person that speaks to the hearts and minds of, Democrats first and then for winning the election, resonates with Americans and I believe the, Democratic Party is the. Party of opportunity and opportunity is one of. The things that has made this nation nation special among the nations of the world and the democrat that can speak to the nation of opportunity that includes everyone I think. Is the person who has the best chance. Of winning let me let me let me get down specifics with the I, was in parts of Ohio during the two thousand sixteen campaign I'm met. A ton of Democrats who had sort of given up on the, party and were captivated by the president's hardline economic. Nationalism the Democrats need to, follow that, or rematch That or redefine that Do we have to do exactly what? Donald, Trump is doing no. I wouldn't say so I do think that we have to give everybody a sense that there is a place for them. In the American dream and I think when you talk about people being down on whether it's the Democratic Party or the future of their ability to work or, stay in their careers I think that's. A question of opportunity and what does that look like for people in ten years Conversation when you have unemployment that's as low as it is when you have the Federal Reserve saying not, only is the economy good it's going to get better it's going to get so, much better than we are confident raising. Interest rates well I guess we could ask the farmers who are losing their work now in. Their contracts because of this president's, trade policies we could ask. The students who are. Finding it harder to pay off student loans and who can barely afford to go to, college if at all under this presidency and and the people who were. Still, ignored I. Think by this president and that's a lot of people. And, and you know the. President while the numbers are good and I think part of that is that he had a strong lead in by President. Obama and fortunately for the American people the economy has been sustained that's a good thing but there is also this larger chasm or gap between the people that, have a lot and the people were. Just trying to scrape by or making their way look I Can't tell, somebody in my district in San Antonio that the way they're going to.
