"But the problem is that every time a military leader speaks out in the specially if it's someone on active. Duty You risk this long standing agreements that we have in America. Bad. The military will not be politicized and I've had conversations with these generals. I've sat down and talked with General Milley about this specifically and he's really struggled with it. Because he said I do not want to ruin this for every everyone who comes after me I don't want the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff to the scene of the political position going forward whether it's for the president or against it whether trump is. Molten when trump and the president is politicizing the military again, it's like the question has biden. It's sort of like one person coming unarmed to a fight. The military leaders are honoring whatever it is you're describing and the president is not and what are we left with Okay Jim Jim whatever it is under describing if the constitution is as the foundational principle, how our government works so all I'm saying is that this is serious it's tough and we know that trump is trampling all over that but. You could say you could make the same argument to say, okay, we'll trump's ruined it for everyone. So why doesn't Biden Act like trump invited not doing that by this saying we're GONNA get back to the way we've always been which is a country that actually has respect for the rule of law has respect for the constitution that has belief in these norms of government that have guided US and successfully for two hundred years and what these generals are struggling with and I'm not saying look I'M Not Sitting here in judgment thing they've hit it exactly right? Okay. What I'm telling you if is not fair to just be so blade in your criticism because what they're struggling with is how to strike the balance between keeping our country safe from a truly reckless dangerous president who's in the office right now and make sure we preserve these constitutional principles for every president for every administration going forward now I tend to be more on your side when it comes to hey, I think you should speak. Out a little bit more but I want you to know that these generals are taking this. seriously. They're struggling with trying to find the right balance. That's why you saw Secretary Mattis for example, he spoke out but he did. So when after awhile right he he he maintained some separation he kept his mouth shut for a while he was very careful and measured about what he said. It was only when he thought the country erupted and you know after George, Foley's murder in what many cases was. Racially motivated violence on on the on the right. Thanks to trump He decided he needed to spoke out speak out. We talking to Congressman Seth Moulton Carson We now know based on the New York Times reporting that the president has avoided taxes..

We took one of the most aggressive approach is in the nation against this virus and because we've taken this so seriously. We're doing much better than other states states like Florida and Texas who are continuing to struggle and closed later and reopened earlier than we did, who are now seeing historic surges in cases? I'm live, reported yesterday. That despite being one of the hardest hit states early on, Our state currently ranks 40th and the seven day average of new Corona virus cases per capita And in the 40th percent testing positive on Corona virus virus diagnostic diagnostic tests. tests. This slide shows Michigan's daily cases per 1,000,000 compared to other Midwest States. I'm live also reported that states across the country that did not take this virus seriously, are now seeing record numbers in terms of daily Corona virus cases. Hospitalizations and deaths. Georgia was the first day in the country to reopen its economy and is now averaging five times the number new cases of Corona virus in a day, five times more than the state of Michigan. And while states like Georgia and Florida and Texas reported hundreds of new deaths last week, Michigan had 43 Percent positivity rate is also far below our Midwestern neighbors. And we have continued to ramp up testing over the past few months. There's a wonderful Twitter thread by Dr Asheesh Zhaan that talks about testing and positivity rates. I think it's worth your time to look, ifyou're happened to be on Twitter. This virus demands to be taken seriously. Youth will not protect you from this virus. Political affiliation will not protect you from this virus. This virus will not go away just because we're tired of dealing with it. The on ly way we can put a stop to this pant. I make an end to this pandemic is there take it seriously, do our part to protect one another and do what we know works. My mask says I wear this for you. And it is true. When we wear masks. We were properly so it covers our nose and Mo. When we practice social distancing and when we go out to get tested when it's necessary When we do these things, we put our whole state in a stronger position. To send our kids back to school safely. Wearing a homemade mask. It's simple. And it shows your commitment to protecting yourself. Your family and your fellow Michiganders from this virus. To make it easier for those who are particularly vulnerable to Cove in 19 and who need help securing masks. Today we're announcing the My Mask Aid project. This project is a partnership, a partnership involving the state of Michigan Bheema and the Ford Motor Company, and it's a result of the hard work of the Michigan Cove in 19 task force on racial disparities. I want to thank Jim Hackett and Ford for their partnership. In this project. It's partnership is going to save lives wearing a mask has been proven to reduce the chance of spreading covert 19 by about 70%. According to one estimate. If 95% of Americans wore masks between now and December 1st. It would save 66,000 American lives. According to one estimate, if 95% of Americans do this. We can get our make our economy stronger and save one another's lives. That's 66,000 people who are parents or grand parents or Children, siblings, friends. It could be saved by the simple act of wearing a mask when he go to the grocery store pharmacy when you're out and about As a parent. I know the number one thing on everyone's mind is whether and how their kids are going to return to the returned to school this fall. It's a pairs across Michigan are anxiously awaiting their school district's to decide how we're going to safely educate our kids, whether it's by remote learning or implementing the strict safety measures I outlined in the my safe schools reopening In June. After rise and covert cases in July and early August. Our case numbers have begun to plant home. So we're not out of the woods and this crisis is far from over. But we appear to have stopped the incline, but we're now playing told and we want to see that become a decline. To get through this and to ensure the safety of our kids, educators and support staff this fall. Everyone's got to continue to do their part. We also need the Trump Administration and Congress to step up and provide additional support. Two states like Michigan, so we can send more resource is to our classrooms to keep our kids and our educators and all of their families safe. I want to end by thanking the thousands of Michiganders on the front lines of this crisis, while people everywhere have made tremendous sacrifices to protect their families from this virus. Those on the front lines have put their own health at risk to take care of the rest of us. Every day for the past five months. Gruelling, stressful work. You've ever listened. Tio this American life on NPR. They've highlighted some stories of people on the front line in Detroit. You might want to check it out. I was proud, but also it was an eye opener. And I hope maybe you might listen. Nurses and doctors working 18 hour shifts and giving up time with their families to keep them safe. You stood by the side of a bed where someone lost their battle with covert 19 and their family couldn't be there. Grocery store workers, especially in the beginning of this pandemic, worked around the clock to keep ourselves stocked to ensure people could buy groceries safely. Child care workers who've been instrumental in helping our frontline workers save lives every day. These air truly the real heroes of this crisis, truck drivers and mail carriers. People who mask up every day for hours on end to ensure our safety. They deserve our gratitude and respect and the best way we can show it is by masking up. So with that I want to say thank you to all of those who have just described have stayed on the front lines. I want to encourage everyone in our state to keep doing our part to stay smart and to mask up. And with

"And just talk about the league itself. Because I mean, it's hard to find an article on the Pac twelve that isn't negative in a no this maybe picking on them. But it starts with Larry Scott the Commissioner at you know, a lot of investigative work out in Oregon that has been done on him in the league. And and they're, you know, forget the scandal. That's going on with Shawn Miller. I mean that's been going on for a while. But it just doesn't seem like this league can really catch a break and on top of that you had the UCLA basketball. Coaching search which was both comical and tragic all at the same time. So where did the Pac twelve overall before we even get back a football, go wrong? Yeah. I think there are two buckets here. And there's some stuff that definitely lands on Larry Scott desk. Listen, it goes back to the the TV deal, which was three well, cutting off three billion dollar deal way back in two thousand twelve and it was revolutionary, and it was enormous stuff. Both for conference that was a power five conference being run like a mom and pop shop. It was transformative. They've created a yellow in network, but you know, stemming back from that they made some mistakes as far as not partnering with another network or having a partner in their in their conference network to help monetize it. So that's held them back a little bit. And what was one say revolutionary TV deal has sort of been passed. And now the gap between the Pac twelve. And the other power five leagues as far as revenue was growing. And you can throw some of that on Larry Scott desk, then you could throw some of the leadership issues, he sort of cut out the more of a, you know, Commissioner to president model, and that chased a lot of a dis, and he's made missteps as far as just overall leadership, and and sort of perception things, you know, the way he goes about as far as his own salary and moving the league and sort of opulent spending. So a lot of that is fair criticism of Larry Scott net land on his desk, but they've also had campus level issue. Larry, Scott is not responsible for the fact that USC has been a dumpster fire Ray in just a in many ways, and Larry Scott is not responsible for the fact that UCLA in football and basketball has had a hard time getting out of its own way. And if those two programs are are are are floundering along that's going to be a real problem for the Pac twelve. You know, listen, there are also issues, and he talks about it all the time. You know that that are not conference related that are not Larry Scott related. They can't do anything about the time zone. They have an issue as far as recruiting base out there being two centered on California, they could use a bigger footprint. Those aren't Larry Scott's problems. But all these things are now hitting at once. And I it does it creates a bad narrative for the league. But a lot of this could be cured Paul if they just win some more, football and basketball games talking to Ralph Russo. Speaking of some of the dumpster fires. I'm sure you saw the story yesterday. Reggie bush. Not that he's got credible. But still he's a pretty famous name campaigning for urban Meyer..

"Then jabbar's Davis moving over from nickel to the other corner spas really gonna compliment him. Well, Tom, we showed the schedule minute ago on our screen and for those who aren't watching it. It's it's incredible starting against Oregon that is the opener Arlington at AM week four at Florida, ending the first half of the season at LSU, and then Georgia and Alabama you can slice it. Anyway, you want you got, you know, at least three maybe four top ten teams to others that certainly are going to be in in or or just out realistically, we all know about the mouths on kerfuffle at the end of the season. What are you thinking? What are people thinking about a final record for Auburn in twenty nineteen? I mean, I'll auburn's always been kind of one of those on predictable teams, you know, and, you know, people count them out in the premiums, and they end up having a ten year when they come in with really high expectations. They'll you know, underachieve so to speak, you know, would, you know, eight wins or whatever. And I think a lot of that's going to hinge on just how well these two quarterbacks can develop and who emerges. You know? I wouldn't even move out seeing both of them play especially early in the season against Oregon. But is they can settle that quarterback position. Get some quality play there. And this is a team that you know, has what it takes. You know, it's it's got weapons offense. We it's got a talented and veteran defense, you know, it has what it takes to compete for the SEC west. But you know, auburn's just been so unpredictable. You know, like I said it it could go anywhere from eight wins to ten wins. And I wouldn't be surprised either way. What? Okay. So let's say eight wh when eight wins be considered a disappointment. I think it would. I mean. Yeah, you're you only gets one of the toughest scuttles in the country. But I mean at the end of the day, you're still Auburn. They're still expected to compete because you being compared to the team across the state every single day, you know in and out of season..

"Four guys still competing for a starting job. They wanted to get through their post spring, exit interviews and just kind of let everybody know where they're at before going public with it. And this is the first time that you know, Gus has been able to speak publicly since eight a so kind of an expected announcement we saw coming, and, you know, doing it going into the summer, you know, it gives you know, both Joey gate wouldn't Bonex a chance to really work with the first team wide receivers develop those that report over the summer and really take some leadership and some ownership of this offense going into fall camp. Tom breakdown both force if you don't mind we saw a little bit of this game. But you've you know, you're not allowed in practice. Maybe, but you, you know, the, you know, the personnel. What what are the pros and cons of both? I mean, you gotta look at both of these guys that are both former top fifty routes nationally. So they have the talent there. You know, Joey Gatewood, you know, he's a guy he came in pretty highly touted, you know, the day that he signed with Auburn Gus malzahn, drew Cam Newman comparison kind of backtracked on that a little bit. And you know, we didn't really see him last year. He red shirted didn't play until the music city bowl. And even then he'll be played Mapo time. But, you know, something clicked kind of late in the season for him where you know, just turn the corner. And you know, it's been a new Joey Gatewood this the spring that they saw he had a renewed sense of confidence. You know, a lot of guys they come in. You know, they know they're going to be behind an entrenched starter like Jared stidham. And you know, they don't always have you know, that want to you know, they kinda resign themselves to the fact that they're going to be sitting out the year. And I think that's what happened a lot with Gatewood last year. But now that he knew he had a real opportunity, you know, seize the moment, and you know, made the best of it. And she. Brings a really good fuel sets the offense. I mean, you know, the guy Kenny doing him last week, the offense coordinator said, you know, he's just a physical specimen. Then you look at him. He's huge. She can run his powerful. And you know, he's worked to improve his passing ability. You know, Knicks on the other hand, he's another dual threat guy of not quite as much as Joey gate where I would say, but you know, he's able to make plays with his legs and extend plays when things break down. And you know, you know, he's just a freshman just rolled in January. I mean, this kid's accomplished a lot and is a two time state champion Pinson valley at six Neil playing six say raining, Alabama, Mr. football, and he just, you know, came in and really, you know, impressed the coaches Tom green with is talking about Auburn. We know how good the defensive. But is it good enough to overcome a young quarterback especially early in the season and particularly against a brutal scheduled? I think this. This defense has what it takes. I mean, you look you look at what they're bringing back especially along the defensive line with Derrick Brown Marlon Davidson Nikko, the only, you know, real question on that defense right now who's gonna replaced on patriots? Russell at that knows tackle spot. You know, he he didn't put up big numbers. But you know, he was a four year starter in the SEC, and you need to if they can solidify that spot this defensive Indian good shape, especially they can control the line of scrimmage on that side. You know, they feel really good about the linebackers. Even though they've got to replace all their starters at linebacker. You know, they feel really good about the talent. This group has got you know, K J Brit and channel moon both juniors who've played the last two seasons, you know, really stepping in the bigger roles. And of course, you know, five star freshman tap. Oh, you know, he's really lived up to billing this spring and then that secondary. I mean, they've got a super talented to deep that safety with two seniors into sophomores. And then you know at the corner spots here. No egg monogamy has you know, what it takes to be a really good number one shutdown corner. Then jabbar's Davis moving over from nickel to the other corner spas really gonna compliment him. Well, Tom, we showed the schedule minute ago on our screen and for those who aren't.

"That's the other side of it is that not only just Mississippi State, but you'd be hard pressed to find a long list of individuals who meet that sort of special set of circumstances that Joe Moorhead had to face not making excuses for the guy or this the you know to make light of what they fail to accomplish. Whatever goals they had. But it was a special set of circumstances where you know, eight wins in Mississippi and Mississippi State is is usually good. It's usually viewed as a white that success, but this year for a portion of that damn base if it wasn't and that made it interesting, and that that is a story. I thought was worth writing is just because it's it's an odd. Just just position between what's reality. And and what was you know, historically, speaking the context of a good season versus what the expectations were. If I'm Finally, I think he did finally figure some things out as the season went on. But, but do you think will the he was a little too stubborn trying to force his system into Nick fits Nixon cheryl's lap as opposed to maybe being a little more liberal and trying to adjust it around the talents of Nick. I think it's a fair question. And I think in the games you could make that argument a little bit. But you know, we don't know exactly what. Nick FitzGerald was asked to do. Or you know, there's there's a clothing in there. And I don't want to attribute this, Nick FitzGerald. But there's something that Joe Moore had said, which was interesting to me, which was, you know, hey, this was a senior team and they had success. So they were pretty used to their way of doing things working in. And so for me as a new guy to get him. Do something different have them. Trust me in your one. Maybe that doesn't happen at the snap a finger. So I'm not saying that necessarily happened with Nick FitzGerald, but it could of and so it just makes it a little bit tricky. A tricky situation to sort of try to implement your system when the guys on the offense. We're used to a system that actually worked which is what you alluded to earlier, you know, I think it'll be interesting to see what happened this year in particular because he has a full year of working. With Thanh Thompson, they may or may not bring in a transfer at that for that position. So that that remains to be seen? And and you know, I I think that you can look at it toward the end of next season this upcoming season and say, you know, what what are those which one of those two parts of the equation was the issue was it Joe Moorhead trying to install his offense by all by any means necessary. Or was it just not a great fit in terms of what they shelled skill set was versus what the quarterback in Joe Moorehead's offense asked to do before you go one. Last question. You've worked at Mississippi. You're now you spend a lot of time covering the Gators. Just what's what's your snapshot? View of Dan Mullen, in terms of closing the gap with Georgia. We know you had a really good first season where we're where are the Gators right now. Well, we know he can develop in we know that he can get the most out of players that may be were underutilized previously at flu. Florida or were sort of like big time recruits who were not in positions to to succeed. We we saw that we could kind of confirm that at this point through a whole season. Watching the guy at Florida. The question's going to be stay, Pat, stay impact and remain in that top five ranking as far as recruiting goes that's going to close the gap between him in Georgia, and Florida and Georgia. And because that's what we saw in the game last year. Jacksonville is that. Okay. This guy coach scheme, but at the end of the day. I did tell me in something the amount of four or five star kids on your on your squad. And and your to Jeep that matters as much as the coaches, try to twist it and say, it doesn't it does. Obviously clearly MS showed up on the field in Jacksonville. And so the only I think the only way to close that gap is to attract talent, there's no question..

And then I wanted to ask you serious football question if buck good, we'll try a collars. I know that Trump wrote the art of the deal will maybe you and the guys in the booth should co author a book the art of the call about what constitutes a really good call. Well, I think we try to talk about that often. And yeah, I think a call is in the eye of the beholder. But to me, a a call is just a conversation. It's not a speech. It's not a monologue. It's not an angry. Brick back that you would get I in a in a town hall. It's just somebody to call in like, we're talking and people say, okay, that's interesting versus someone having to make it about him. And then that's I mean, I think I think it's easier to say what a bad call. Then. What's good, call another part of a call that we always talk about is just, you know, go to the caller. I mean, I I went to start talking. It's none of this. In my on. Right. Well for me. I mean when you're looking at it. And I know what you're saying for me like what you said to one of the recent callers was if somebody brings some energy to the show. That's what makes a great call and say Jerome, for instance, every time he calls. I mean, he may go on a, you know on a rage. But he's entertaining. He's funny. And he just you can't walk out of the room when he's calling at the same time, Hugh from Durham, I feel like he's been rehearsing his call. Yeah. Last two weeks here. You know, we'll run some comprehensive labs, and I get to the bottom of what's causing it. But you you can expect to spend about an hour and a half at your first visit to the institute. Which is important. Everybody's busy. We talked about that before. But but again, you're not going to be given the runaround. I I can tell you that it's really important that you know, when we're getting to know a patient. I do think that everybody's busy and yes, people want to get in and out of the doctor. But at the same time, I think that doctors visits are getting too short. And at some point we do have to spend some time with our patients, and our patients actually all really appreciate the time that we spend with them. They don't feel rushed. You know, they they enjoy that. It's thorough and it's important. So you know, when we're getting to know you especially in the beginning, we'd like to give you that full hour and make sure we don't miss anything. No matter where you are in south Florida listening right now..
