"Yes yeah he actually asked me. He said dad. When do i get to hit you in the face of the pie and i said well. We don't know yet if that's going to happen. We'll find out on sunday for sure if you get to hit me in the face of the pie. So that's probably when we're going to do it because it's probably have you given up on their chances. No i haven't. They're just so slammed it's hard you know. There's there's so much has to go right. That's out of their hands. that was. that's why. I think it's going to be new new york and boston right. New york has a game up not exactly a favorable schedule going forward but not too bad the same time like they can. They can take it to the running out to the blue jays and they'll be fine you know and i guess at the mariners could win out and then still have to do a one game plan if things go right and poorly for everybody yes exactly like real bad real bad for everybody. Yeah yeah. I don't know either way baseball family. It doesn't matter what nationally american league whatever we are watching crazy playoff situation right now head. It's a lot of fun and we will be live streaming. The american league wildcard game okay and we announced. This was last week four. Don't forget yeah. Check your calendars market down. You're going to pull us up on the live broadcast if you'd like and we will call the game like we did last time and it is a right and as long as it's not the mariners and the yankees we will be doing some some fun i don't know i don't wanna come side bets because i don't think they're necessarily side bet but There will be some other things some shenanigans to be had shenanigans during the game. We're gonna have guests as well. That's right that will be a good time. We'll get to bring some people on having talked about thirteen and their playoff hopes and dreams and we're excited for it really excited for that'll be on facebook and youtube. I think those two places we had last time right. Yeah facebook and youtube yet so see a tune in turn on your tv or your Streaming whatever whatever device you a stream on and you can listen to us. "Jays would have totally possible. It is the blue jays have to go five and one and the yankees would have to go to and four autism possible in that case. We would have a four way. tie the yankee. And i think the mariners would be the odd team out because they don't hold the tiebreaker against anybody right And then it would be a three way tie in the american league east and then. I don't know we might have like boston. Toronto play a play a one game playoff and then have new york and boston. Play a one game playoff or whoever wins that game whatever. Yeah yeah that will get wild so fast and if that happens they're going to keep bumping the ale wildcard game back yes and until they need to. It would only be bumped to wednesday because that's the only two games but man right. But i mean think of the disadvantage though those teams plan one hundred sixty three hundred sixty four game. Whoa that's that would be big and could have major implications even if they get out of the wild card game. Yeah so all a crap so real quick break. I mean your bias but you sound incredibly pessimistic about the yankees chances of of making it. Do you think they'll make i think they're going to slide into the second slot. I don't think they'll hold the first wildcard position. Okay and i think what we're going to see is a boston new york. American league wildcard. i agree. That's that's what i see too just go on inverted though. Yeah yeah. they're gonna doesn't it right now. Yeah yeah because the mariners really matter. So here's something crazy with the mariners. On tuesday you ak- suppose is scheduled to pit. He's on he's on. There is the probable for tuesday but the mariners are really really quiet will not say whether he's pitching they're saying we're gonna take it one game at a time. They just they just called up today. One of their top pitching prospects. He is in the building justice. Sheffield who's been awful coming out of the bullpen. Coming back from an injury was demoted. Brash was called up. And there's a ton of speculation that kukuchi has moved into the bullpen. We might not ever see him pitch again for the mariners. And you know. Barring a playoff run and then it's gonna be brash. Pitching on tuesday kukuchi out of the rotation because the mariners got gotta win because think that advantage like yeah. He's a rookie ever pitched before. But there's no tape. There's no scattering report like none and not only that. There's no yipes like hopefully there aren't very many jobs or anything..

Twins bump Blue Jays back in wild card race, as Gurriel hurt

"The twins notched a seven to win over the blue jays as Nick Gordon drove in four runs and Michael Pineda won his third straight start jays catcher Danny Jansen says they just have to forget about their last two games I got nine games left so you know that's the thing is that you know it's lost back to back tough losses about flushing it log on to the next game Toronto fell four games behind the Yankees for the second AL wild card and finished the game without lotus curry L. who had his hand stepped on by teammate Randal Grichuk in the outfield Pineda was reach for eight hits including a game tying Homer by Tay Oscar Hernandez but he allowed just two runs in five innings Stephen matts lost for the first time in eight starts allowing two runs and eight hits over just three frames I'm Dave Ferrie

"And the only team. That's losing to baltimore. These days the yankees. Somehow i don't understand stand. I wanna cry about it. But that's the only reason we're in this situation because somehow we lost like eleven or something baltimore this season and it's just stupid but yeah it is nothing against you birds fans. I mean talk about being impressed huge props but man. It's crazy just crazy. So boston has as good a chance. As anything of taken the lead wildcards through the season. Yeah they could easily could easily. That's are so streaky. Right now that's the most favorable schedule of anybody right now because you've also got Got the blue jays in the yankees. Set to start playing on tuesday tomorrow. They play each other. Starting on tuesday. three games. And then you and then. The blue jays after that have three games against The orioles the battle of the birds in toronto and then The yankees have. They're going to finish up the season with the rate tampa bay three games in new york against the race with nothing to lose for the race. Nothing again nothing to lose except for supremacy and like maybe they might pitch brett phillips for three games. I would love you know what they did that we'd lose just because that's how our season's gone that he would pitch a shutout completely shut big bang like there's zero right there in the is now point four seriously so disgusting so we have the alleys doll. Set up now. The mariners are still pretty long shot because they don't hold The tiebreaker against any of these teams. I think except toronto. So if somehow the mariners and the blue jays come down it comes down to them Getting into that. Second wildcard spot I think the mayor's tiebreaker over toronto. Maybe i don't remember off top ahead but they're gonna finish the season here. Seattle has three against oakland off thursday. So monday tuesday wednesday against oakland off thursday friday. Saturday sunday against anaheim. I think it's a pretty favorable schedule especially with the day off and those games are all home all. They're all at home all at home. Professor Files Lawsuit Over University Vaccine Mandate

"Welcome back by friends. I'm dennis prager and a professor on todd. Zoecke z. y. W i c k by a professor of law george mason university and a fellow at the cato institute in august believe it was august. Let me see here. you wrote a piece in the The wall street journal was august professor. There why gogga's that's right down is so you wrote a about why you're not going to follow your universities. Demand that you get a vaccination for cans covert in order to be able to return to campus and you cited the fact that you had in fact cova and in fact was was when you took tests. You've had the antibodies to kovin. They stay continued to stay in your body and so you sued. george mason. Is that correct cats correct and it's okay. Yup no no you go ahead. Yeah so i so. I tried to resolve this the nice way. Then it's wages. I tried to torch mason claims to the place the respect science that Respects truth so. I reached out over the summer After i contacted by immunologists and i did a full immunity workup including an anti bodies tests. That showed that my anybody's level With comparable to somebody who had been fully vaccinated And And there's more there's more than you needed that but this is sort of a slam dunk case is this is how you measure of somebody's immune protection listens how they measure whether somebody needs a booster shot for any for any disease whether it's measles or covert or anything else And so. I reached out. And i said here's here's the evidence They blew me off. I reached out to again. And i'd attached an affidavit from my immunologist as well as to leading public Stoller sir. I'm sure you're familiar with jay body charge at stanford martin cool dorks harvard. The presenting all the evidence to show this george mason again. Just blew me off Issue their policy saying that everybody had to get back and and so i reached out to the new civil liberties alliance at that point and some ask them to represent me so we brought a lawsuit eventually george mason and they're giving the medical exemption after all this In civil and changed the rules so that wasn't being disadvantaged as much as i had so the lawsuit itself has been resolved. But now there's you know many cases now following raising the same issue as vaccine mandates of spread around the country.

"I got to pick one of these to go go with the next one i get is the team. I'm going to cheer for so the yankees won game. One of that series of said. Okay easy to win out in boston. Needs to lose out here. We go so. I was hoping all weekend for yankees. Sweep wait a minute. I did say that you wait a minute. You have been rooting for the yankees silently all weekend long silently. Yes baseball family. We have to take minute to acknowledge how profound a moment this is. We have literally been at this now for years. Multimillionaire and brad is now admitted. He is rooted for the yankees for more than one daybreak. I know and not just because we were in london the royal week. Yeah that's a real thing off so deeply satisfied. That's the world series for me right there. That's it it's over. You can miss the playoffs and be fine. Now gimme the hunk of metal. Yeah i got it so so. I figured at that point. The scene that won that first game was it was being my best interest is a mariners fan for them to just sweep to series right. So that's why. I'm to see yankees. So i got my seven cards at one color. The yankees swept the series. Now one game on the red sox now behind the red sox. We have the toronto blue jays. One game back we have the seattle mariners. Two games back tegla. We have oakland. That's three games back. 'cause they managed to sweep the astros which is a really big deal because when the mariners swept as last week in oakland by the way Everybody had the as done dead to rights like data eliminated them effectively but they managed to come back because everybody assumed that they were gonna lose two games the astros at least right but it's all about matchups sports raw matchups and here we go. We have oakland sweeping the astros once again and sitting three games back their elimination number magic numbers for doesn't look good. They've got to win out and they've got to hope that the yankees the red sox the blue jays and the mariners all lose out. That's right and then. I think oakland has to basically went out as well so now hold on. Forget oakland for a minute. I'm terribly sorry bands. I just don't think it's possible for oakland. i don't need. That's and that's what i that's. The picture as painting right there is that they have to hope everybody loses out and they have to win out basically sold to get so. Let's talk about boston for a second. Okay let's do it. Their six remaining games put them in baltimore three and then in washington c. For three so they have nothing but away games to finish out the season. But that's a favorable schedule. It is they really is like big time.

"So the fed yesterday avoided a shock to equities in. What's already been a week. September but will investors remained. Comfortable with the hawkish tilt as widely expected members pulled forward rate hikes expectations on the dot plot and fed chief. Jay powell telegraphed a tapering announcement at the next meeting in november. But it's worth pointing out. He said the same thing about this meeting the tapering Once it does happen is expected to end around mid twenty. Twenty twenty two. That's according to powell's comments and a off could occur after that but it's basically not going to be until twenty twenty three. At least that looks like the most likely timing for the start of rates judging by his comments and the dot plot.

"Today is a day that every single child in school should take pause and be leads through and told the great american story of how we got here. Today is a beautiful day. There's a lot wrong with our country right now and i wanna take a pause to remember what happened on this day in seventeen. Eighty seven september seventeenth. Seventeen eighty seven was one of the most significant days in human history. It was definitely one of the most significant days in political history. Almost never before had this idea of self government been tried. The romans tried it in some capacity and failed and eventually became an empire. The greek strident and city states. But never before. Did a people attempt to embark on a form of government. We're the people were the sovereign. The idea of self government independent judiciary the ideas of freedom and equality in the rule of law that are the ultimate principles to build that society. "One of the main reasons why we are seeing the dramatic escalation in certain areas struggling with the chinese corona virus in addition to monoclonal being suppressed and in addition to ivermectin and hydrochloric. Quinn is how overweight our countries and again. I say this is someone who has my own health problems. I don't get enough sleep if someone is overweight. You should look have a health problem. Don't try to own it. They'll be like oh. Yeah i'm fat and proud like that's actually really creepy. And it's not the way it should be. It's not good for you. it's not good for your joints. It's not good for you could get diabetes and so what we have here. Amazingly is to governors. That i think are that actually. That's not true. Jay pritzker is actually fatter than these governors. So jim justice. I don't know who's who is bigger. Jim justice or jay pritzker. That's tough tie again. I'm not fat shaming okay but at some point when you get to that level it's just a lack of will. Do you know what. I would love to eat out. Love to eat anything i want. Okay but it takes discipline. It takes order take self-control

"Is going to be and Yeah there really. Isn't anybody else i told you. There's about two guys. Not even maybe just jordan romano who you have complete complete utter confidence and in terms of closing out a game for this team so i mean that's the way it is. I'm just saying to what a story would be The can somehow get back into this. Of course it's still possible but basin we already. We went over this already. It doesn't look good but of course you can never rule anything out in a. It's funny too because you talk about a strength of schedule you talk about an easy schedule coming up. You talk about easy games and You know this is the trap series for the jason get swept by washington and now this weekend. I'm not sure how confident. I feel against a team. Like detroit either way. Because i know you're at home but look with jesus did in washington and it's kind of funny too because it it turns out the jays weren't the only ones Pretty much this week with a an easy match up to i guess blow at earned terms of disappointing at its finest so the padres of course they gets what by the rockies the reds also gets wet by the cubs or lose two straight and the phillies lost to the diamondbacks last night. There was a tweet of that that just came Came out but you know for a team like the jays who have all these opportunities ahead of them. We talked about at the beginning of the year. The schedules the hardest in baseball. Yes and all the sudden it turns into one of the easier ones down the road but it's easier said than done. These guys neither games. We swede literally went live about this yesterday before the game happened in washington where i said a sweep was the only outcome of this and it turns out completed a complete slap in the face back to me because it was a suite. We got you left. It was for the wrong team. And now when you look at it your four and a half games out. So that's why. I i'm not sure what else to think of. Of course you can't rule anything out. Of course people are going to watch and be excited. I mean you want to a reason to watch as well we'll get someone hernandez and who is completely Was the story of this road trip in terms of keeping this team somewhat afloat trying to keep or trying to do anything they can to kind of keep the steam alive and he goes to for forte homerun in double. I mean obviously marcus semi also homered. I mean those are guys that have tried to keep us alive. We we we know about the simeon. Had the go ahead home run today and the pitching couldn't back it up so i mean it's been the same story all year. We'll see what happens. I guess as we head into these next series is as we close out the month of august. September there's lots of baseball left but you're going to have to rely on a lot of teams to lose on top of expecting jails to win these games so that's where we're at right now..

"To watch. I'm still going to cheer probably gonna lose my voice a couple times watching any of the potential comebacks that we see but it it does. I think come with a bit of a the realization that yeah this team. It's probably where the two thousand fourteen was where it's still fun to watch. It's still a very exciting. There's definitely huge upside and there's a lot of stuff to come. I think are probably a world series trophy within the next two or three years but as of this season way too many things have to go right and for that reason as shark tank would say i'm out on them all right. Well there you have it not a great picture from us and what's gonna happen with the blues is there is a best case scenario where the blue jays make the postseason like there is still a chance because you oakland slumping. You got that series against oakland. Maybe they come out. They win two of three of those. You picked up a game on oakland you start rattling off a few wins. You get hot a little bit. You put up that whatever was twenty five and fourteen twenty five and thirteen stretch. That gets you in the conversation for those last few series against the yankees so blue jays. Second last series. This season is against new york so that just goes to show at the end of september. They could have the potential. I know you were saying you think the yankees are going to be squarely in that. First wildcard spot but bluejays could have that potential. Take that spot. In the last few days of the season there is a world where that happens. It's just everything has to go right. You gotta get julian. Mary weather back in the majors. You gotta get ryan burrow back in the majors. You gotta get george springer back you know hopefully only missing twenty games. You've got to win that series against oakland. You've got to win all those series that you have against new york you've gotta run the table in the next few games and you can't afford to keep losing games like these to the washington nationals of all team so like that things have to go the best possible way over the next forty three games in order for the blue jays to make the poses and and the odds of that happening to me are five percent and that's why i am on this season. I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'll cheering my heart out. If the blue jays make it to the postseason but the odds are so incredibly slim. That i'm not gonna pin my hat and hang my hat all that so So many people as you alluded to brazen blaming a lot of these games on charlie montoya. It's nothing new. We come here every week. And we say the exact same things about charlie montoya just so happens that he rolls out in a happens to happen in every single game where it seems like you can blame charlie montolio and i don't i'm i'm just fed up with it like i'm fed up with people blaming charlie montoya for all these mistakes If you have a good bullpen. You're gonna look like a good manager if you have a bad bullpen. You're gonna look like a bad manager at some point. You have to stop making excuses for the guys that the blue jays have in their bullpen. There's no one to throw. There's no good pitchers in the bullpen. To brad hand. Good to trevor richards who screwed up before. You don't wanna go to brad. Hand good adam. Silver who put some guys on base ahead of brad hand who loaded the bases previously before brad hand came in and that seattle series and walked in the winning run..

"I don't know if you guys feel the same way but to me it's over like if you lose two games to the washington nationals and fall five games back of a wild card with forty games to play like you're out of it there. There's no chance and on top of that. You lose george springer for the remainder of the season. I know last episode. I said that if springer goes to the ten day. I l at all even if he comes back immediately after those ten days. You're done this year. And looks like springer could be out for the season so i stand by that assessment. I think they're done and i hate to say that. Obviously i don't take any joy declaring the blue jays dead. Because i am a blue jay fan. But it's as simple as that. The odds of you going on a run in this situation without george springer to me. It's slim if not impossible and you look at the numbers for like you said jay take up for making the postseason The blue jays are probably going to need at least ninety. Two wins to make the postseason. That's what it's looking like right now with the yankees surging you know. You got oakland slumping. You got boston's lumping but right now it's looking like ninety two wins. The best forty four game stretch of the season. They forty three games left before the end of the season. But the best forty four game stretch that they've been on this year is twenty eight They have to win. Twenty-nine winds to get to the end of the season. And make the postseason so and you're looking at doing all that. They're george springer if he's on the injured list with the momentum that the team has right now i just don't see it possible. I mean the the best forty four game stretchable bluejays have had this season with george springer was twenty five and nineteen. So i. i really don't see it as possible if you've got to win. Twenty nine games including some head to head matchups against oakland against new york. That got seven games against new york left. Four games are three games against oakland. Like i just. I don't see it as possible. I don't think the blue jays can do it. And it's unfortunate. But i think they're out of it and i'm willing to write off this season so definitively for you guys do you think like are you in or are you out on this team. Are they sticking around and do they have a chance or are you. Kind of the ship has sailed for you. You're done with the blue jays air because they'll still watch games. of course. i'll be cheering for them. But i i really do not see that happening. Listen it's tough because you go back and forth. While the i i've been going back and forth over is not of course. Here's the thing i'm not going to. My expectations are pretty much zero. I'm going to make it clear to you. Guys there is zero however is the do they still have a chance. I of course they do. They need a lot of things to go right..

"You know really tipped scales last question on this before. I wanna ask you a few about the actual onfield team before. I let you go but in terms of the decision. I know the boarder doesn't open to regular fully vaccinated. Americans until august ninth and the baseball team gets to allow non-vaccinated americans albeit in quarantine in as of july thirtieth has there been any blowback about this. I'm sure that in some quarters has been. Look you know everything that's happening ch- in these days seems to draw some criticism in some level of complaint. But i haven't seen any substantial Complaining about this. And i just this one is is so. I think on the list of grievances that people can have. This one's got to be small list. Only a of the reaction. I've tended to see him and certainly that's probably limited a little bit in the scope of sports fans but people are really excited about this. You know people want to see life returning back to normal. I believe and you know this is a small little sign of it and it's something that hasn't been in the community for a long time It's one of the most high profile businesses. It's been disrupted because of the pandemic and to see it coming back to toronto there being some excitement about the team. They're they're being some optimism around it. I think all those pieces you know a largely drowned out anybody. Who's who sort of you know taking issue with With some of the points of the plan. So you mentioned at the beginning of this conversation Justin smoak last game as a j being the last time the jays played in toronto. How different will the team that plays on. July thirtieth be from that team from september twenty. Nineteen while it's just about half the roster right now has never played a home game in toronto so you feel wanted to sort of put it into context. I think that one really frames it. You know before the twenty twenty season the The big free agent edition for the blue jays was Left-handed start starter. Engine review and he got the biggest contract ever given to a pitcher by the franchise and he hasn't thrown one pitch in toronto's a number of the blue jays just yet George springer. Who was the major addition. This time around. You know he. He's been here as a as a visiting player but he hasn't even been able to come visit toronto because You know the border has been closed so he made. He made the decision to sign here. Based on the fact that his experience previous player and believing the team believing in the fragile is one hundred fifty million dollars over over. Six seasons probably helps too. But there's certainly a bit of a leap of faith. There for a lot of these players coming home is going to be a bit of a new experience. But it tells you what how much change there's been The twenty nine thousand nine season was In many ways the bottom of the of the of the fall for obliges team had been in the ploughs in two thousand fifteen sixteen another lost ninety five games that season and that was really a transitionary year. Since the rebound has begun. You know the blue jays hadn't gotten home yet so you know the the team that is coming back to. Toronto is one that you know. Blues fans haven't gotten a chance to see in person and become familiar with in person the last time. The blue jays plead in toronto. We were discussing whether or not in vlad. Guerrero junior would ever live up to expectations. Pretty funny right How dumb deals conversation seemed now. I think that his emergence is a really important reminder for sports fans about why you have to have patience and it's difficult to have patients write us. You want your team to do well. I understand that in. It's emotional but vladimir guerrero. Junior was a kid when came up and had all the pressure in the world on him was supposed to set the world on fire and he simply needed the major leagues to show him what he didn't know he needed to understand what that meant for him. And how that impacted training routines his personal habits the way he prepared for baseball games all those things and because he wants to be the best player in the world he put in the work to make sure that it would happen. Once he realized what the gaps were in his game. You know to me it's a it's an affirmation of y. You have to have runway even for talented players. Incredibly talented players generational talented young players And you know he certainly rewarding that faith and it's full credit to him you know. He made the decision. He decided that he needed to be accountable to his teammates and he is having a season that is on track to be the greatest offensive season in blue jays history. And it's just absolutely special. What he's doing and it's it's a lot of fun to watch it last question for you. You'll be there. i assume. On july thirtieth. What do you think the atmosphere there is going to be like just based on what. I'm seeing on social media and from the players even. I think it'll be kind of emotional. Oh yeah it's definitely going to be that it's going to be a lot of things to write. Let's keep in mind that july thirtieth is also the trade deadline right and you know if they do something that captures the imagination people. A little bit as well You know it could be an absolutely incredible atmosphere. And you know i think back to twenty fifteen and the day that troy to a whiskey debuted you know. His acquisition was a shock. It just completely spun around the perception of what the blue were what they were trying to accomplish. And when he debuted. It wasn't a sellout crowd. It was fingers into in the thirties. Mid-thirties maybe But the crowd was as electric any that. I can remember because there was just sort of this moment where everybody was like. we've arrived. this is it. This is what we've been waiting for. And i can see there being a similar type of vibe on the thirtieth right you got people who have been locked down for the majority of the past year. Change having seen their baseball team in a long time. You've got a young team. That's seemingly emerging And then coming back for the first time this this reconnection with the club and then you throw him a move or two excitement into the mix. It can be pretty special. I'm excited shai. Thank you for this. And hopefully i see around the ballpark this summer. That's what everybody's hoping for the reconnection with everybody that we've been apart from for a long long time. Appreciate it shaida. Vdi of sports. "And maybe that's why. The blue jays made the decision they did on opening day. But anyways let's turn now to the defense first before we get to the offense. Because the defense i think a lot of is this weekend. It was really impressive. The blue jays half to do the small things better right. They do have big problems in the pitching staff. They have fixed problems in the offense. But if they want to get to that next level the next step that they can do within this season with acquisitions is limiting walks on the pitching staff but also improving the defense. Doing the small things right. it's not vladi ranging over to get around ball when no one's gonna be covering. I doing the small things to improve on the defense. I think we saw that in this series plotting for one. You mentioned bryson him doing the splits in yesterday's game. He was very very impressive on the field. I think we liked that a lot. We saw a lot of impeccable. Plays up the middle and even after corners. With bijou and i mentioned guerrero. We saw simeon range deep into the hole and save run on opening day. We saw the and make a couple amazing turns. We saw an incredible double play. Bijou of course in the ninth inning of opening day coming in throwing home getting my talk men coming home. Which again don't understand why he was running at all but still it was defense at saved the runs for the blue jays and in the case of opening day won the game for the blue jays. So i guess. Does this surprise you at all. Is it just encouraging. Are we reading too much into it. Isn't maybe just the way. The ball was being hit in the infield off the yankees bats. Or is this something that we're gonna see more consistently and how encouraged by at argue. I don't think that it's surprising. Because i kind of expected their defense to get better and when you look at last season it was not very good..

"That's what i want out of any any any. Follow up on that on that gift you do you know. I would love to have springer on this team. I think that when you have that at outfield position filled. And you have that sort of depth in your system that having to give up any player personnel. You're just giving up at that point just money. I think it's a must for the blue jays at this point right. We're we're talking about trade ships and what we're going to have to give up and how we're going to have to fill the void in comparison to just signing. Someone a sounds easy enough but again you're right yet to convince that player to want to come into fifty fifty marriage at that point I'm for it man. Sign me up. And if it i think last week we settled on seventy eight years. He thirty one. You were talking about an eight year contract. It's a lot for me. It assuming the blues have the goal a little high on the on the term. It's a lot for me having a player until thirty nine. Forty but if you're playing for if you're paying rather for three or four years of a leap production as the costume businessman and that's a future adam. Problems future bluejays problem. I don't care that someone else's problem sounds like tried to lewinsky trade s future guy. Guys man. I don't care polit up all up. What are your thoughts. The want that as christmas gift i will have no issues with that as christmas gift. Unfortunately as much as like i said i have one gripe on the content of what happened in the past with george springer in the team that blew slapped mentioning name the he tracks too. Many boxes for the blue jays makes too much sets there assist. He plays smeller defensively satterfield. We the center fielder we need. Somebody hit the middle of the or it. There's as many things and like when you can literally to solve this solving it with money and we have money. It shouldn't be a problem. is literally just. They had to convince him to like you. Set play buffalo nick. Although the bills went ring maybe play and later a little bit. What in all reality. I do think the bluejays are actually going to get a chance to play. Some games drought this year regardless of what starts the season would-be where i live bovis. Yeah i wouldn't be the first. Half of the season. For the all star break is on the road then reevaluate where the vaccine is at and how many people have been vaccinated. And maybe you play in toronto. The second half after the all star break another toddlers was realistic. That that can be banned stands by that point too but adam second gift Want back in just. The sheriff people interrupted that that george springer was gift along with. What you're saying is our good buddy x twenty four rocks Same thing in about five other people that was their christmas wishlist from our twitter quite back. Gimme springer once spraying. "Yeah no one hundred percent if really feel at this point that bauer is the the dam blocking the water from just totally gushing out in starting pitching market and same a springer in the offense of market for position players. But what we might be touching on some of these guys on our next topic is the final topic of showing its two main ones. But this one we could spend a lot of time on For listeners of the show who listening since day one You've known that this is the third year in a row. Now i believe twenty eighteen twenty nineteen and now the dreaded twenty twenty that we'll be doing our christmas wishlist For the blue what we want to see on christmas morning when things are unwrapped and look. I say this being like what you could wish for under tree could be something to happen june. That can be something that happens. It's a timber. October because christmas presents are tickets to events that you can go to a or whatever like whatever it is you can use it at all times so we know the drill anywhere from three to five things that you've thought of that you want as a christmas gift from the blue jays. I through our chat that you can throw in non sports related stuff than i think the to preface this. Everybody wants the same thing this year. Everybody wants the vaccine. Roll out to be quicker because that's gonna get us back to being able to see family kind of events being able to go see. The blue jays live in being able to cross the border so the three of us can go hang out again. That's at the top of everybody's christmas wish list. So that's something we try to In this discussion but added let's kick off with you. What is the first thing. And maybe this isn't your top gift that you want to see you. Can you can choose what you want to lead off with whether your top your middle. You're you're you're least wanted gift. What are you wanting under the christmas tree from the blue jays or gifts something in the world..

"So the fact that he's even bring that up you have to like you said to understand where the rooms are coming from. Yeah some of the may not be accurate. May some may be doing doing that on purpose but a lot of them are true and a lot of them are factual that the jays are looking to do this looking to do that but just patients it's not even december like oh my i just i'm gonna be very i'm gonna that's gonna be even more funny though if they make a big signing a trade the amount of people that will change the way of thinking and how they will celebrate and like but i like this team signed spent one of the most spent money on hundred or less you're eighty million dollars like you said markets like it was a year ago they made this signing and everyone right at the front because it was the exact same thing. Nobody thought it was going to happen. Nobody thought it was going to happen when it happened. People freaked out and people were excited. So it's probably going to happen again this year with somebody if they bring him in and you're going to see the exact same reaction but like i said just it's not even december like we have so much more to go like the winter meetings even here yet let them let the market kind of play on the way it is like it always does and you know if you're not going to be the first will make a big signing than just like. I said they're doing nothing wrong. Everyone's kind of taking it slow which is fine then. It's barely started anyway. So you know that. Someone's going to pick up because it has to because spring training will come sooner rather than later so Patients by you know. I'm like i said i'm i'd rather them be interested in everyone rather than you not hearing about anything until the the week before spring training where you're adding and bringing in random guys for Invitations to spring training so nothing bothers me with it right now..

So you have control for as long as review or a little bit longer we'll be on this team. That's a real plus when Pearson gets healthy, you have that already that's pretty good. I. Think if you're going to ask the prospects for Cleveland's pitchers, just throw everything at chamber. Okay Yeah more or you know they're down on xactly sack and he was looking pretty damn good that we've had a police. TORONTO. So there you go out. And maybe the price won't be so high and. I honestly with the Cleveland Connection, they wouldn't shock me that those conversations are taking place just because a know that farm system in I. Know It's been a few years but still allows guys they're they're Cleveland's they had something to do with. So many drafts Johnson's then true. Yeah. Now you're out wrong and you know just want to touch on the red sox again i. absolutely still think that there's GonNa be some trade of veterans off the Red Sox roster the only untouchable in my mind on the Red Sox and three guys right now Denver's. Pogue Arts and Vertigo just because they got him or David Price McKee back beyond that if you get really crazy. JD MARTINEZ ANYBODY I Heavy contract. But I can see jd Martinez being moved or Andrew Benintendi because I think they're growing very frustrated Benintendi and Benintendi still have control I. Know He's been absolute crap this year but I mean I know the outfield that we thought was going to be a point that needed addressing looking damn good right now for the Blue Jays with brick Banou Randall Grischuk and the Oscar and Lord escorial. Hell at Andrew Benintendi before it's outfielder at rotated there from time to time. So I think the red sox could be pillaged, and if you're not the only other area I would add is the bullpen. You can never have enough bullpen help and you're in the playoffs. Then I know our full of staff who knows what the rosters will be. COMPLA- off time. Looking some royals and in Kennedy would be a nice armed add at the back end of the bullpen. He's got starter stuff wasn't damn good starter for a little while and either pretty damn good reliever too. So I'm going to be looking up royals for Kennedy as well. novelist. Lists. He wasn't Anthopoulos trump. Speaking of the Royal Trump Rosenthal Zeman frigging most talked about guys in major, League baseball trades so far. So maybe everybody's overlooking Kennedy. Maybe Brennan you are right. We don't get an arm the starting rotation and is a nice way to solidify the actual rotation by freeing up a spot. For K. or whoever to come out of the bullpen and going to the rotation, and it's still have that same level of talent and they're the same Louis Ambulatory Hawkins..

"The Blue Jays will still get that game, and if that is something that you were concerned with me, I didn't really think about it I didn't really care but I did think it was worth noting because I did hear it on the broadcast but all right, let's without anything to do last night because like. Baseball and it's like, ok. Guess what you guys said I thought about all this stuff and thought how I personally better myself. Yes exactly why can I bring to the table and? I will find a way. Yes. I agree and I and I think that that goes for all of us to write. We're not look I have my fault. We all have our own faults on the dumbest Guy in the Shatt right here. So what do I know but when it comes to when it comes to these issues, this is something that my wife and I have been paying particularly close to this is something that we are trying to be as active as possible as best as we can, and that is the difficulty of this because how do we do it properly ray Effectively, how do we go about approaching this issue to make an impact and I'm not talking grand impact like an Impact I don't have that sort of impact I. Don't have that sort of. Influence on people maybe I don't know. But what I'm saying is, what can I do with my small little voice? To make an impact that's what's important. If very small voices do this simultaneously no become a wave and that the point. So. Good on you guys I'm glad we're able to talk about it. But we'll talk some bluejays. Trade deadline trade deadline coming and like we just said at the top of the show, we are very excited to talk possibly Blue Jays baseball and it's looking more and more likely as every game goes on. Now the Blue Jays have made two trades already both to the mariners less notably they have acquired Dan Vogel back for the mayor's in exchange for cash considerations I had pretty much an off year and it's kind of redundant when you think of the rowdy to as position they're they're almost sort of the same player except rowdies raking right now. It's a power bat off the bench uncle but more importantly and more recently, they traded for Taiwan Walker and exchange for cast considerations or that player to be named. Later, this guy always gets traded it's crazy player to be named..

"I'll be your host, my name's at Corsair joined by my fellow Co, of course, as always Mr Craig Board and Mr Brennan Pentecost. What's up guys? Doing. Good Buddy how doing I'm excited I'm excited to share. Fifteen, boys. All a little bit of postseason baseball in the mix here even though we have about a month away but. You know there's a whole lot to break down. There's a whole lot of postseason talk to break down. There's a whole lot of trade deadline talked to break down. But it should be noted first of all that we are recording this. Friday evening eight, twenty eight that is August the twenty eighth for those that are listening on the podcast. Edition I guess you could say this show and not the streep There is currently lie bluejays baseball going on right now with the Jays hosting the Orioles, their nemesis for this year as it seems. That being said, the Jays are pretty much sitting pretty right now on the eighth spot of the American league with a record of fifteen in fourteen. If I'm not mistaken, they haven't been below five hundred since August the nineteenth. So they're they're in pretty good shape when it comes to that things are looking good when it comes to the team itself but I should note to start the show the state of sports in general. Is In an a pretty much an unfortunate, yet familiar space. So I kind of want to start with this. We can spend as much time as you guys want when it comes to this, but I think it's worth mentioning we've touched on this before and history has terrible of repeating itself and this time to a much larger degree with racism still being prevalent in our society. Unfortunately, the sports world is taking action with players and teams boycotting pretty much or protesting their respective games, the Jays notwithstanding on Thursday evening, the Jays, and the Red Sox game was pretty much boycotted to raise awareness for racial injustice specifically. Spawned on the acts committed to Mr Jacob Blake, who was shot seven times in the back by by policeman Brennan. Start with you how do you think the team responded to this I know the red sox sort of took the ball initially in the bluejays followed. What are your thoughts also should be noted that today is MLB celebration of Jackie. Robinson days usually held in April but today given the shortened season. This is celebrating it that was a word salad for me you can take it over. Now, very good way to start it off out of MRS discussion that everybody should have especially with three of us who are Caucasian male over the age of twenty eight.

"I don't think they'll stick him in the minors because I think another team will want to acquire him. I think he'll be useful for another team is just where the ages are right now. They're situation the fact that he strikes out so much it just the way it's working out doesn't seem like he's going to stick around with the. Blue Jays unfortunately great guy. I with all these players that you know. We say horrible things about how they're playing but it's really something that you know. You wish the best for them off the field It's just you gotTa to put the best product on the field So we'll move on now to some of the questions we got from you guys and our first question comes from. Aj he asked Aj Am nate. Excuse me he asked how long Until the Blue Jays are contending team. How long until we see them you know pushing for a championship and I think you know I was just talking about the the stages rebuild. I think they're just past the middle of the rebuild right now. I'd say the middle of the rebuild was the trade deadline or the start of this season and over the off season. They'll start shifting their gaze towards the next stage which is acquiring players. That are gonNA stick around for a long time that are going to be helping the Blues Compete and that means I think in two thousand twenty. They're not GONNA do much. They might be a few games below five hundred But I don't think they're GONNA compete be competing at all next season But twenty twenty one. I think that's the time when we'll see the blue jays looking towards a wildcard spot. I think they'll fall short in twenty twenty one honestly. I don't think they'll be able to pull it off that soon. But in twenty twenty two. I think that's the year that we'll see them. Dead in the heat of a wild card race or or Division Championship in the alias. Store or something of that kind. And that's what that's why I'm really excited for. Its three years down the road but I'm still excited that you're definitely right there. Those days of the you know the dark times during the rebel against the whole rebuild as a dark time. But you know those days of seeing on her Solarte's no offense to him hitting cleanup for team everyday Those days of You know those days are over and the only way the contract from this point as anybody would seem would be upwards after all the youngsters that we finally see again. I've I've said it countless times. Their new core of in the batting lineup and again. Those famous names are Vladimir Guerrero Junior boba shut Kevin Bijou Laura's Gurriel and so on and so on and I think with those players they're they still have quite a lot of developing to do at the major league level We know we know Vlad's slump or I should say you know his underperformance in his first few months of the season and we know how much he's picked it up since the all-star break which is obviously a great sign boba sheds just been tearing it up since he's been called up you know. He recently had to home. Runs off Clayton Kershaw. Which is good to see Kevin Bijou as well. He seems to be developing at a slower pace but he still has a lot of potential and and and like we said that lurks correal seems to be just a you know a new player after finding a comfortable position to play and with all of this happening and also the the other big factor would be When the start buying and I think that will determine when they were going to be competitive Ross Atkinson said countless times that once they are ready to spend money. Rodgers will provide it for them. I guess which I don't know how much anybody would believe just because of the reputation in the city but I guess it's something to look you know kind of be relieved about just because the curiosity and the speculation of Rogers would give the bluejays money to spend and I think that the Jays will maybe make some more. I think they'll with the winters continued to go on. I think they'll be more active in the free agent pool but I just think they're still gonna. There's going to be a couple years of them starting to contend before they're actually our. I should say buying before. They're actually gonNA start contending and I still think I like you said I don't know if I see them going anywhere in twenty twenty Like I said the five hundred like you said sorry. The five hundred seems to be inappropriate like an appropriate. I should say level expectations for them. Ross Atkins did say after the Trade. I think he compared the the Blue Jays rebuilt the two thousand fourteen. Houston Astros so I think you know looking back of that The Houston Astros weren't very good. That in two thousand fourteen but the next year I believe. They made a wildcard spot or they completely trended upward. So it's you know it's obviously hard to PR- It's hard to believe that's actually going to happen especially with him. But you can't blame him for being excited with all the talent the Blue Jays. How but they're definitely ways away I think twenty two twenty twenty one even seems to be a bit of stretch. You're definitely GONNA have to look within another like two three four years Max before they're gonNA start contending but the other big factor within this is all the prospects of bluejays have loaded up on and all the prospects they still have come in a big target or a big. You know the player in the spotlight. Now in the the Minor League system here Pearson. Who looks absolutely incredible and he was actually just recently promoted a AAA buffalo. He threw seven scoreless innings or through seven strong innings account. Remember at a phenomenal. I start so he sees definitely going to be coming up within the next year definitely unlikely he comes up this year but hopefully sometime next year and I think as he's Katina to come up you know they're still going to be trending upwards but we just don't know how long and with the rest of the depth bluejays have it all depends on how they turn out an example could be the marcus. Stroman trade with Anthony K and Simeon Woods. Richardson prospects like that. Where you don't know if this is really gonNA work out until you know five years down the road and I think if you know there's obviously going to be a lot of prospects that hit with the Blue Jays and there's going to be a ton that mess and I think it's a matter of time before we determined how they do and how they cruised. That'll have a big impact on where to go and the other good thing is the. Jays could have the pieces to buy with all the all the prospects they do have but it's a matter of time when when they decide to do it and when Rogers provides them the money which will be when the Blue Jays are ready to contend. But it's another two three four years Max down the road in my opinion. Hopefully were wrong hopefully next year. Hopefully they sprays all of us. I do want to mention you were talking about prospects and Nape Piercing Pearson. Just you know blowing everyone away in his first AAA game but I also want to mention TJ Zoellick because he threw a no hitter interpolate with the Buffalo Bisons. Um and that's just really something that you know. He was a first round pick by the Blue Jays a few years ago. I think it was twenty sixteen in the. We haven't heard a lot about him. You know we've been hearing about like you said a Pearson was drafted last year. We are at about Sean Reid Foley. We've heard about these other guys but we haven't heard a lot about TJ Zoellick but this is really used first moment in the sun. And I think it's a sign that you know he could be something big to Coming up in the minors such really exciting Speaking of people coming up in the minors we got another question about someone who just came up. Vodka Grow Junior. We got two questions kind of related. The first question was from tie he asked. Will Vladi have health issues his whole career and then the second question from Charles is will Vladi be a bust Those two questions lot implied in them I will say Ties question. I don't think that he has a lot of Health Issues Matthau. He has had obviously injury with his knee. But this year he's been largely. Ok Injury wise and I do see his injuries. Getting a little bit more serious. As time progresses just because of when you get older your more injuries. But I don't think I think the way that the Blue Jays have been stressing His you know the way he could get an injury the way that they've been stressing in trying to condition him Everywhere along the way you know single double triple A. Even the majors now. Everyone's so focused on that fact and keeping healthy that I trust staff to not make a mistake in that regard. I think he will be healthy for most of his career. I think he couldn't count her troubles leader in his career. Just because of the way he's built But the second question will be a bust. The question pie implies that he's already been a bus so far and I think that he hasn't he. He has an exceeded expectations because autumn. When we were talking about him coming up we were talking about. You know he's going to be a hall of Famer. He's even better than his father. And you know. He hasn't been that good but I'd say he's met expectations in ninety six games. He has a two eighty two batting average. Three fifty six on base percentage and fifteen home runs fifty five. I think he's making it clear case to be Al Rookie of the year. And that's the entire season those stats. That doesn't include his recent uptick in the last few months after a few starting slow months. So no I don't think he's going to be bust. I don't think he is a bust this season and I think you know he'll stay healthy for years to come. Yeah no grow. Junior will not be a bust. That's ridiculous question. In my opinion all due respect to ever asked it. He's not a bus now. He's played ninety six career games. First of all I know it's it. Seems like he's been up for a while but he hasn't even played a full season with the Blue Jays. And you know yes. It's okay to be disappointed. I guess a lot of people were a little letdown of how he first performed once he was. I called up and I think you know after the All star break He's been on fire and like you said his numbers are up and for the rest of the season. He's projected it in his last twenty games. major league. Baseball's protect projecting him to head just below three hundred and with an opium of eight seventy one with final enough. Sorry five more home runs and seventy more every is and you know gene's got a long way to go before you even consider him being a bus. He's got to be really really bad throughout those years. He hasn't even finished a full season yet. And I think it's completely ridiculous. Even think of him as a bust sure he's underperformed but again these prospects as much as they're not..

"To the right side and wind up playing first and second, right? The the thing about Vlad in particular. He's got a really strong arm. So I if you can keep them on the infield, and he's non liability than I think the Blue Jays would prefer to keep them there. You know, he's a bit of a bigger bodied third basement to put it lightly. So many around the game of question whether he has the durability to play at the hot corner and probably down the line any he shifts over to to first base. But yeah, just the fact that he's got such a solid arm. I I think you keep them there. And as far as his future. Yeah. I've had some people ask me whether the Blue Jays should just kind of try and buy out a few of his arbitration years right now, just you know, sign sign a giant contract before even hits the major leagues and from a front office perspective. Of course, you want to do that. Because you want to lock them in by those Arbor's save yourself a little bit of money down the line them from the players perspective. I mean, this guy is I looked at his fan grass projections and he's projected that have like a five win season next year as a rookie, which is I think it was like the fifteenth best. He's projected at the fifteenth best position player season in two thousand nineteen which was around like Aaron judge territory as a rookie. And that's also accounting into the fact that he might not get he probably going to get called up until mid April. So it's just like I'm still trying to wrap my head around. All these. Things. I think if he isn't a superstar at it. It's gonna feel like a disappointment in Toronto..

"Replacement level season but does he leave avoid in any other way obviously he was sort of the public international face of the team but was he important clubhouse presence as well i think he was i mean to the extent that i can tell you things i got the sense that he was very certainly very well respected by his peers including guys like marcus stroman he's close with and many many other players of the team i think that when you look at the teesta 's legacy it's like it's it's incredible legacy and tronto he did so many things the backflip alone is is statue worthy and even beyond that you have home run titles postseason appearances and you just have this incredible incredible run of production but like you said last year he was so unproductive that i really think it was time for the blue jays to move on from him and find someone who can actually produce more so i don't think that he's going to be missed in any kind of concrete way in twenty eighteen because the guys he was closest with bill still hang out with them they'll still tax them they can still lean on him not quite to the same extent of course but he still does have those relationships and that kind of extends beyond the toronto blue jays to people as individuals but yeah there's no question that you know there's gonna come time hopefully when a lot of blue bluejays fans were in attendance when the blue jays can really recognize what he's meant to this franchise all right you listen to the podcast you know how these things end give us the two thousand eighteen win total for the toronto blue jays i you're right all ready have my answering advanced eighty four win eighty four i think is not too crazy high i think it reflects that they have the depths behind the roster that you see on it'll the charts if you just look at that group twenty five players i think that there is some talent that's gonna make its way through the system i'm not talking gravel or shut but i think there's enough there that they can be competitive and in that mix for awhile card by the way the blue.
