Here are the winners of the 2020 Ig Nobel Prizes to make you laugh, then think

"The Twenty Twenty Ige Nobel Prize winners were announced last night the ignoble prizes to achievements that. First make people laugh. Then make them think the prizes are intended to celebrate the unusual honor the imaginative and spur people's interest in science medicine and technology and quote. A. Common Misconception about the ignoble prizes is that they're like the razzies you know making fun of things for being bad. But as they say on their website quote, we're honoring achievements that make people laugh and then think good achievements can also be odd funny and even absurd. So combat achievements a lot of good science gets attacked because of its absurdity and a lot of bad science gets revered despite its absurdity and quote. This year, the award ceremony was held only online but fun fact for you the ceremony while always in person prior to this year has also been streamed online every single year since nineteen, ninety, five making it. One of the very first events to be streamed live online. Improbable research who runs the prize thinks that it may have been the first ever event streamed live online was. The Economics Prize was awarded to the team who tried to quote quantify the relationship between different countries, national income inequality, and the average amount of mouth to mouth kissing and quote. The management. Prize went to a team of professional Chinese hitmen who conducted a hit by having. So many of them pay the other one to do it with less and less money each time that eventually no one was murdered. The. Prize was awarded to Richard vetter for collecting evidence that Entomologists Aka people who study insects or indeed scared of spiders. Are Not Insects. Now, the medicine prize went to a Dutch and Belgian team for diagnosing missile phony A-. And this is one I remember seen in the headlines about when the research was published because I super identify with it missile phony is Stress at hearing other people make chewing sounds end quotes. The materials science prize sounds completely bazaar and pointless until you understand that this British and American team are archaeologists who were trying to prove something about an artifact that had been found. They won the prize for quote showing that knives manufactured from frozen human feces do not work well and quotes. And finally the Second Prize winner of the year to be more ripped from the headlines than based on academic papers. The Medical Education Prize was awarded to Jay Your Bolsonaro of Brazil. Boris. "Fixed payment was always theater active thing. The thing they didn't like was the interest rate that Related whether, because as you move to a longer term money, the rate usually goes up. In this scenario. The 30 year fix is clearly the sweet spot. So right now, the 30 and the 15 or pricing so similar that to me, I can't force you guys air approaching guys to do shorter term money. This is the one time where we can actually pay more because we're already getting the rate break. The reason why I was all into the 15 year in previous shows was because you got the ray break by moving yourself to shorter term money. Now you're getting the best of both worlds. That was the old Jay Z and R. Kelly album. Best of both world Look it up. You're getting the rate 2.375 the term 30 years the payment. You always wished the APRs down to 2.396. So I would say every single person listening right now should at least try this on for size. So here's your options. Look at the rate reduction. That symbol that standard. Anyone could do that. But can they do it This fast? This easy will they redo the loan of the market keeps going down in the future. Will they charge? No lender fees? Is it effortless? Is it going to be just pain free? I believe the perfect storm has finally arrived in you guys get the wind now. You also could do cash out. Pay off all your debts. Eliminate thes while rates or this low Now the rapist slightly higher on a cash out loan than a non cash alone. You could also do cash out to upgrade your property. The previous result. You heard the reason why that one was so good. That gentleman paid off. You know, he did all these home improvements he got came upon some cash. Did all these home improvements made the home worth more but never removed the PM. I never did a refund. It's never got that rate reduction. So This was gift wrapped to us. The Macrocosm and Microcosm in People and Plants

"Hey everybody say Jay here and welcome to part two in our alchemy and herbalism series, and in last week's video, I was sharing with you how you know throughout history as science kind of became more of the dominant world view. We see this kind of mechanistic. And really kind of stripping the spirit and the meaning out of cultures and systems and traditions, how that affects our perspective of people and plants, and really ultimately our practice of herbal medicine in how alchemy is this incredibly potent in sophisticated system and tradition that allows us to bring those two together. But how exactly does alchemy do that? Right? How does alchemy unite the science and the spirituality of herbal medicine? Well, that's what I WANNA talk about a little bit more in this week's issue in this series and talking about one of the core, the really the Philosophical Foundation of alchemy. As I mentioned last week you know everything in this tradition is about coming to a balance of philosophy and practice right that there's a certain way of looking at and understanding the world around us and kind of the fundamental pattern of nature that is the philosophy of Alchemy, and then we want to do something with it. Right. We want to practically apply that philosophy and that ultimately becomes the practice right which really to me the the kind of. Quintessential practice of alchemy really comes down to medicine, right it comes down to preparing medicine as well as administering medicine. So there's kind of a the herbal pharmacy side of things and the therapeutic side of things, which is I'm going to be talking about in part three and part four of the series but I we gotta get solid in understanding. This core, really the core philosophy of Alchemy and I think it summarized very nicely in the age old adage that I'm sure you've heard before as above. So below and this is really a pretty old saying But what does it really mean right as above so below well, really. What that means is that Really the whole end, the part are connected right that the V above the cosmos, the the great pattern of the natural world and creation the above or what traditionally is referred to as the macrocosm is mirrored in the microcosm in individual species that the whole in the part are ultimately one that the the whole is within the part and the part is a facet of the whole, and this is a really profound teaching that I remember you know I. I learned about this in my early twenties and it was just totally blew my mind I was like, wow, like the whole universe is inter connected and everything is one and everything is in this. Grand web of interrelatedness, and that's really profound and mind-blowing. I don't know to do with that. Right it was kind of like it was the philosophy made a lot of sense but it wasn't until I. You know really got into alchemy that I realized. Wow. They're actually taking this very profound understanding of the world and then applying it in really profound ways that that is helpful. Right in the way that it heals people and helps people in in a medicinal context. So, we have this dynamic of the macrocosm in the microcosm and as above. So below and really in Alchemy the the center of that philosophy is really this understanding that. Nature is not chaos. Nature is not random that there is an underlying order to the cosmos within which we live and within the underlying order, there's a certain. Pattern there's a pattern to creation. There's a pattern to life that there's a rhythm to the you know the way the seasons turn and the way that the stars are placed in the sky and the way that the planets orbit around the sun and the way that plants grow in the way the water cycle is in the way you know everything about nature occurs accordingly to these natural. Laws to this underlying kind of cosmology and fundamental order of the universe, and that really is what their understanding of the macrocosm is

Make Your Zoom Meetings Soar Remote Work John Paul Mendocha - burst 14

"Doing Zoom and working remotely because that's the world that we're currently living in today, and it's probably going to be the world that we're going to be living in for not just. A short period of time but because we're starting to understand that you know what we can get a lot of work done remotely in very a lot of industries we need to grasp, hold its concept being able to do as zoo meeting and do it right all right, and so we're we're GonNa talk about some of these little pieces here as we finish up here in this hour so. Let's talk about a couple of really we you talked about the green screen, but I think one of the things that two things that we need to talk about is audio and video. And bring up to really fabulous points and I am right on it and Let's. Let's talk about the video portion I, what should we know about video because we can make some mistakes there Why I think the the first mistake that we make is that is that when we get into the whole realm of video. We immediately go. Hey High def right I want high. DEF. and. All that sounds good because of course, we're watching I definitely and television and by the way watching something happened. Is Infinitely more. Is Easier and simpler than you actually making it happen. So you want to look at your resolution and see if you can actually tone down your resolution because. They're probably not gonNA WANNA see four K or whatever. And by the way very few people have the bandwidth to do four K. Right now. So video is important and and you WanNa make sure that you understand how your video works, how how it's going to be put together and you can. You could start out inexpensively and you can go very expensively You can actually get a really decent zoom call out of a iphone or android with with a face with a front facing camera. But what you WanNa do you WanNa get a stand and have this stand hold it instead of you because let's face it. If if you're holding your camera, you know if you're holding like this way you know and you've got this little jitter will cause your hand will get tired and you're doing this stuff You're not going to be not going to be very effective. So just make sure that you understand that and and you know. Test see what is like also, you can make videos on your on your PC, your Mac you know on your laptop makes videos and see what the camera it looks like. Big Mistake that people make is they got nostril cam going that's great. You know which one I'm talking about right. Looks like it looks like Sherwood forest up there but you know you got these guys who they don't even they're clueless by the way if you want to know how to make your laptop, go up up up, I will give you the cheap way to do it. You could go get some paper that would go into your printer and just keep stacking up keep stacking up. Reams of paper until have the right line of sight. So people aren't looking up there and going. I wonder. Don't want them to wonder, hey, how's how's that? For a really inexpensive way to do that and you're right you know you can take books or whatever to raise your laptop if you don't have a separate camera, I think probably you and I, I have a camera on a tripod that's a USB camera attached here so I'm looking right at it, but you don't have to have. That you don't have to spend that money to do that type of thing. So you most as you point out in the book, most of your laptops have a camera in there. Let's get rid of knows. Kim Let's. Let's get some books and let's get that. Let's get that raised there. So we can see you right. Let's talk about audio. Let's talk about audio because I think we we think that because Ron video that audio is not important, but it really is critical. Isn't it? Audio's very important. Now, I I happen to prefer just because of my personal style and what I do is I wear I, wear a gaming headset so you can go buy a gaming headset for seventy. Bucks. Plug into a USB and it does a good job. It it. You know it sounds good by the way it kills lots of surrounding noise and that makes me the MIC stand. You know. So matter how much moving my head and it's funny because I, what I'm. Looking at buying headsets I was talking to. Somebody. Who is really a good audio engineering and we're talking about my problem, which is I had a really nice microphones like Jay has in fact, I have several but the problem is I would come off center. So my volume would keep getting funky and changed and he said, well, tell me how much you move your head and I said, well, it's got like halfway between Ray Charles and Stevie. Wonder. and. Said Okay here's the solution. The solution is you have to be the Mike Stand. So I bought actually have multiple headsets but for for seventy bucks at a best buy, you can buy cheaper but you know you now have this and it's great isolation people are I watch a lot of people who take the little headset that comes with their phone and they have that they're holding the microphone up to them and let's face it a microphone. That's the size of a pinhole. That's that's what your voice is being replicated through. Right so you spend a few bucks you'll get a, it'll be a lot better. Some people don't like to wear these because it makes them look I. Don't know whatever. But you know you gotta think in terms of a good microphone and you can get pretty decent microphones for less than one hundred bucks.

So if that's the way it doesn't that's AH along Go. I won't tell you too long here, but that's one of the interesting sort of limitations of these business watches. But of course, it can't do anything that sort of breaks. The skin on DH presents one of the holy grails of fitness watches. Being able to take lunch, blood sugar readings or two and do stuff like that. But unfortunately, there has been some experimentation that way, but there's no way to do it. But with blood oxygen, they found ways around it that again. They're not taking obviously not taking a blood draw, which is the most most efficient way of doing it. Padres take two wins against Giants in doubleheader

"What an afternoon on. Sunday. For the padres they sweep a doubleheader from the giants and extend their winning streak to seven consecutive games. The padres will finish twenty twenty over five hundred for the first time. Since twenty ten s San, Diego moved to thirty one and seventeen with a couple of very impressive wins on Sunday afternoon six nothing in game one by my cleven jer three, one in game two behind some clutch hitting three relievers. Behind Garrett Richards and the padres absolutely rolling into their huge series this upcoming week against the La Dodgers. This is the wrap up show with John for and Jim. Russell. If you're not following us on social media, please do that at twitter at John Shaffer at Jim Russell. St. Over the next hour, we're gonNA hear from the manager Jay's Tingler we'll hear from my clovinger as well LS scores and we'll get you set for the massive. At PETCO Park against La the begins on Monday and six ten. But what a weekend Jim, we didn't know if the momentum would be halted as the padres didn't play Friday and Saturday, because of a false positive in the giants organization but the Padres pick up right where they were and they've won seven consecutive games. Yeah. A couple days off may have actually helped team to be honest with you and they got to sweep today. Kinda like. Easy I to me it did it to me. It felt like there's no doubt in my mind that not only the Padres, the better team, but they're going to win these games. They're gonNA to find a way to win in the second game there, and then the first game I tweet this out after the third inning, I'll like this feels like clovinger I'm just GonNa go seven complete this game type outing for him and which he did he went seven. Felt Kinda effortless almost when you look at the box score complete game seven strikeouts only one walk only giving up two hits like that's the Mike Levin show that this team traded for and who they hope they get in the postseason is a guy that's going to give you seven innings going to not allow any runs couple couple hits given up. strikeout seven plus only walk one it was it was his best as a padre so far and couldn't have come at a better time. And then game to like it was you know giant scored I there but to me I was like, all right. You know I felt that they were gonNA come back and win that game somehow, and it wasn't pretty will myers at a home run. But other than that the other ones they scored wasn't pretty how they did it but still they got the job done and their bullpen. John, this is a strength of the team. Now it's incredible because it's been nine days. So the first twenty, three games of the year, the padres bullpen was six point four, eight, the last twenty, three games coming into today two, point, seven five and the bullpen today two and two third innings of one hit no run baseball Tim Hills now three. Now he was the winning pitcher in game two drew pomeranz not allowed to run JIM this year and fifteen scoreless innings and Trevor Rosenthal was able to work around two out error committed by Fernando Totti's junior. To Work School. seventh-inning for his tenth save and third with the chargers. If there's one thing we saw over the course of these two games and maybe over the seven game winning streak is that Fernando Totti's junior is a human. You know he wasn't GonNa hit three fifty all year. He wasn't GonNa hit thirty five home runs and sixty games you know he For the first time, maybe as a professional at the big league level actually slumping, he's one for fifteen. Now, in his last five games, the Patriots won all of those games. So that's the good news.

A Pep Talk: You're Going To Be OK

"Hey, guys. Welcome back to first of all real unfiltered conversation on career family relationships and culture. I'm your host Chang and thanks so much for tuning in for this episode. As, you may have noticed it in this week's episode because. We may be doing more than one. For those of you who have been following along on this crazy path of first of all y'all know that I've been having specific challenges and struggles with consistency. Now, this is a really big theme in my life and I've been listening to a lot of different philosophers and instructors and coaches and. Honestly. Just like bloggers and thinkers out in the universe to help figure out how I wanted to navigate all of this craziness. Everyone's on the same page. We're good on the fact that twenty twenty is absolute dumpster fire, but it's like a dumpster fire that's burning out all of the the trash in our lives I. Think personally for me I take that as a good thing. So in light of this dumpster, fire were having to survive a lot having to figure out a lot and we're transforming lot. That's the part that I really wanted to bank on and speak on because one of the themes that have been coming up repeatedly recently in all of these different teachings that I'm listening to. Is inspired action. So if you've been listening to first of all for a long time, there have been different moments in time where I have struggled with consistency I have struggled with south discipline following a timeline figure deadlines doing the whole like what am I supposed to do to have the best and awesome podcast on the planet and it's been a point of friction for me. It's been a point of Frustration and stress for me to keep up with the schedule that I personally didn't even like strategically set or plan. So it's like I'm trying to impose a certain schedule that I haven't even really committed to in the first place. It's just weird ridden. And so in light of that, I'm working on the the counterpart of like how can I create a process for me to actually stick to a process On off on a good foot right now but bear with me. I want to have a plan but sometimes creating the plan and sticking with the plan makes me not want to make a plan does that make sense because creating the plan makes me so stressed out And so pressured to abide by it that I ended up doing nothing. So that makes sense. So I still want to execute I, still want to perform I still want to create things I still want to have output I still WanNa make podcast and put them out there but something about at this current moment in this moment in my life. Is really struggling with the whole planning thing. So I WANNA give myself space to allow flow I was like I don't want this whole plan situation to block myself from. The things that I WANNA make. So in light of the fact that I'm struggling with this whole planning thing. I'm still going to set this as an intention like I wanNA plan and I want to have my goal is to have a weekly podcast. And if for any reason, it becomes too much of a stressor on my life to meet that, I'm going to give myself some space and grace to not do that. Not GonNa kill myself over him. Not Going to beat myself up because I recognize at this point if I do that I'm just gonNA stop altogether it will literally stopped me in my tracks because it doesn't feel good. I'm going to be so filled with guilt and shame that I'm just not going to move forward period and I don't want to do that again because my attention and my goal is to. To put out content into. say things in share conversations to help people because that's my bigger y that's my bigger purpose. So I WANNA give myself space to flow. Still aspire for the planning still aspire for the executing in weekly fashion, but also give myself space to like. That's where I'm at. and. Then in light of that, I was attracting different see i. feel like the algorithms kind of like fit my. where I'm at in life and I was stumbling upon a lot of these lectures and videos and philosophies on inspired action that doing inspired action versus forced action. Is Infinitely better that it is more impactful that it's more effective that it is is just going to be so much more beautiful an authentic and relevant than when you're forcing yourself to do something that you internally physically psychologically emotionally just don't WanNa do. And I've been messing with I've been really really sitting with that. I'm not done thinking about that. But in light of that, I felt like I wanted to give myself a fun challenge because I like doing things that are fun I like doing things that feel inspired and I was like that really resonates with me and I want to feel out when I feel inspired to do things I wanNA stop beating myself up for not doing the things that I quote unquote should do because y'all know that's my favorite word. Jay fricken hate that word don't trying to reconcile without word but instead of doing things only if and only when I should, which creates a lot of resistance in me internally, I'm going to do things when I feel inspired to I felt inspired to record something to share with all of you. There have been times where I've been really inspired to record something for first of all or for my instagram whatever for a lot of different reasons resisted it. I have stopped myself dead in my tracks because I was like, Oh, well, that's not. Relevant right now, I already have a backlog of episodes that I need to get out and that I need to stay consistent on in throwing something random in there's just gonNA screw up my pace and it's GonNa Confuse my audience XYZ like I'll have a laundry list of reasons not to do something and here's the thing if that's your thing that you're that self disciplined and strict on your output of your content or whatever I'm not saying you're wrong to do that I'm speaking specifically for me for my brain, my content and my life.

Re-motivation of the De-motivated Employee Drs. Cathy Bush & Tara Peters - burst 01

"The question. How do I motivate my employees and I've had a lot of guests on the show. Between the time that Tara was online and and today we're every psychologist psychiatrist I've had on the show said, we can't motivate your people. You're just not going to motivate them. And I. Give Them. I of fact, since Tara I have given them this answer. You're asking the wrong question don't ask the question. How do I motivate my people find things that are D- motivating them and remove those. CASIO'S W. Yeah it is. You know. Like to talk about the basket analogy. So if you think about people showing up to do a job or for the first day of task they tend to come in let's imagine they have a basket We think it's empty. We think it's our job as managers leaders to put stuff in the basket call that motivation and if we do that right, then they're going to be Gung Ho and productive. But the truth is that they show up with a full basket they have all sorts of. Things already motivating, and so our job is to prevent the stuff that gets in the way and causes the basket to start to leak if you think about it that way and so right on what you said to the people that you just mentioned is accurate. It's like if you could figure out what's poking holes in their basket and not do that or repair that quickly then you will have highly motivated people. You don't have to put motivation in you have to keep the motivation that's there. So, this this this is this is an interesting thing because I think what happens is for most leaders Tara I think what happens for at least the leaders that I coach and have talked to is they have a hard time dealing with removing. What they're doing. Because, they want me to come in and you probably like you they want you to come in and do something to jazz their people up. To make them. Happier brighter. I don't I feel I feel like sometimes they think magician I really do I think. I feel like they think Oh, well, you're you're you're the psychological professional come on in and just go inside their brains and do something. But. Really is the removal of the crud. Right, why do why do you think that leaders have such a hard time? Letting go of the things that they've put in place that actually stop. Their employees from being motivated. So I think one of the things that that's at issue is that. It requires S to be. Reflected in the figure out how we might actually be contributing to the problem and that isn't necessarily our first inclination to think that I might be doing something. May Be to blame you Jay. Everybody. We might as well. Everybody else does. So you might as well blaming. Housi-. I WANNA share responsibility onto yet in. Back in the UK apart of this situation to if there's something that I might be doing that might be contributing to the situation you know that the Jays Capping we start from this. Is that okay first of all, when you hire people, most of us say only hire only the best and brightest. Bigger. So you had a good group of people coming in right and they were they were ready to go in then something's happened. So you can't just blame the people I. Mean we're really trying to force leaders say, okay. Let me take a step back and let me say, okay what's really going on here and is there anything that I might be doing? Is there something that I'm not understanding about the situation where I could actually address it with the with the employees and so I think that that's the hard part is people actually being it'll take ownership and that they might be a part of a the issue. So

"Hey welcome to in the thickness is a podcast politics race and culture from a POC. Perspective. HORSA and I'm Jerry Galloway. Rela. We have a very special guest joining us from Southern California Jacob Sobre. He's award winning journalist correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC and Hey a best selling author. Now, what's up Jacob? So good to be with you guys you know have wanted to do this for so long with you and I'm I'm just grateful to be here with you together I know he's a fan. He's a fan of in the thick fan. Yes. We love that we love fans of the pod so. We're going to be talking about an issue that you have called an American tragedy and this is the issue and the history of family. I don't even like that term because it's really families being ripped apart torn apart. In your new book separated inside an American tragedy you readers through a very intimate look into the policy into the families that have been torn apart and traumatized. You also talk to policymakers and government officials who ultimately were responsible for creating and really promoting this is stemmed separation of an estimated five, thousand, four hundred children from their parents at the hands of the government and I. Say. And still counting. Yeah and despite the fact that president trump signed an executive orders supposedly ending the policy of Charles Separations in two thousand eighteen, the ACLU alleges that there have been more than one thousand family separation since that executive order and more recently propublica reported on how the trump administration has used the corona virus as a pretext to circumvent the normal legal protections allowed to migrant children. So since March ice has circulated thousands of migrant children through hotel black sites making it virtually impossible for lawyers, family members and advocates to locate them and deported them in order to quote prevent the introduction of Covid nineteen into the US. Even though many of the deported children have tested negative for the virus. So Jacob here have reported on these issues for many many years. These policies you know predate trump. So before we get into the current iteration of this shit show, I wanNA talk about looking back into that history and actually. You great job of setting it and in a moment we'll talk about how it's touched of us. Really personally. But Jacob. From your perspective, talk to us about the origins of family separation and how the stage was being set for these policies way before trump entered the white. House. So yeah, you gotTa tell us how did we get here? Yeah. I think Maria. That what the trump administration did and we talked about ripping families apart family separation what to call this really what it was in the words of Physicians for human, rights and Nobel Peace Prize winning organization was torture at met the. Definition of torture according to the United. Nations it was government sanctioned child abuse according to the American Academy of Pediatrics and you know make no mistake. This is on the trump administration's hands. No administration in the history of the United States of America had ever attempted or done anything like this in a systematic way. But the fact that the trump administration was able to execute this policy was only possible because of decades of failed deterrent based immigration border policy by Democratic and Republican administrations. This will come as no news to you. But for people who don't know in one, thousand, nine, hundred, four, the Clinton administration put into place their border patrol a policy called prevention through deterrence. That's why our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring record number of new border guards by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before by cracking down on illegal hiring, which was designed went along with the first wave of border infrastructure walls. Fences what have you and the idea was that by doing that people who are migrating to this country quote unquote illegally would have to go on more dangerous or deadly journeys to get here and sure enough you know many people have died trying I e let them die trying. Let them die trying. That's exactly right. After the Clinton administration. We had the Bush administration which obviously created H S and expanded the border patrol exponentially dozens of agencies charged with Homeland Security. Will now be located within one cabinet department. With the mandate and legal authority. To protect our people, the Obama Administration obviously deported more people than any other president ever no matter how they are. No matter their reasons. The eleven million who broke these laws should be held accountable and we got to this place where we had donald trump is president saying when Mexico census people, they're not sending their best they bringing drugs. Crime, their rapists, often not the pictures of Jay Johnson walk through the same facilities that I saw separated kids in and look yes. The Obama Administration Limited circumstances did separate parents and children from each other and the reason that they did it was circumstances where you had parents who were perhaps violent criminals or dealing a narcotrafficking but they never did on a systematic basis Jay Johnson? The Homeland Security Secretary, or Cecilia Munoz from the Domestic Policy Council. Bowl said to me on the record in my book we could never do. What the trump administration did it doesn't mean the idea wasn't proposed. It came up, it came up in the situation of the White House but they never did it and the minute Donald Trump became president. This idea was on the table right about a Valentine's Day meeting and twenty seventeen and the officer Kevin McLean then the acting commissioner of Customs and border. Protection they wanted to do this from the get-go and now the results of of this policy are very familiar to all of

So you have control for as long as review or a little bit longer we'll be on this team. That's a real plus when Pearson gets healthy, you have that already that's pretty good. I. Think if you're going to ask the prospects for Cleveland's pitchers, just throw everything at chamber. Okay Yeah more or you know they're down on xactly sack and he was looking pretty damn good that we've had a police. TORONTO. So there you go out. And maybe the price won't be so high and. I honestly with the Cleveland Connection, they wouldn't shock me that those conversations are taking place just because a know that farm system in I. Know It's been a few years but still allows guys they're they're Cleveland's they had something to do with. So many drafts Johnson's then true. Yeah. Now you're out wrong and you know just want to touch on the red sox again i. absolutely still think that there's GonNa be some trade of veterans off the Red Sox roster the only untouchable in my mind on the Red Sox and three guys right now Denver's. Pogue Arts and Vertigo just because they got him or David Price McKee back beyond that if you get really crazy. JD MARTINEZ ANYBODY I Heavy contract. But I can see jd Martinez being moved or Andrew Benintendi because I think they're growing very frustrated Benintendi and Benintendi still have control I. Know He's been absolute crap this year but I mean I know the outfield that we thought was going to be a point that needed addressing looking damn good right now for the Blue Jays with brick Banou Randall Grischuk and the Oscar and Lord escorial. Hell at Andrew Benintendi before it's outfielder at rotated there from time to time. So I think the red sox could be pillaged, and if you're not the only other area I would add is the bullpen. You can never have enough bullpen help and you're in the playoffs. Then I know our full of staff who knows what the rosters will be. COMPLA- off time. Looking some royals and in Kennedy would be a nice armed add at the back end of the bullpen. He's got starter stuff wasn't damn good starter for a little while and either pretty damn good reliever too. So I'm going to be looking up royals for Kennedy as well. novelist. Lists. He wasn't Anthopoulos trump. Speaking of the Royal Trump Rosenthal Zeman frigging most talked about guys in major, League baseball trades so far. So maybe everybody's overlooking Kennedy. Maybe Brennan you are right. We don't get an arm the starting rotation and is a nice way to solidify the actual rotation by freeing up a spot. Taiwan Walker who we are rally hoping to get a good audition from try to resign. Coming, the end of the season yeah. You get that going then you had any Pearson and company out. Night you came out of nowhere must have been the doubles cup. So. You get him in that or somebody at this point if they're gonNA literally just last throw prospects Assen you don't want something. And you know it's not going to be the during grow chances and whatnot they're sitting around in Rochester right now. I don't see how you can go wrong with any of this like I said I don I dumped ten players to be named later on somebody get Trevor Bauer? Yes or no? Because my biggest problem with this lineup right now is we have a glaring hole. Fuck is going on third base. Shaw hasn't been able say completely help even though he has looked good what he's played and you're not gonNA put Laddy Vogel Bach. Rowdy. Anybody over there. I think really get those wraps until maybe bubba shut gets hopefully healthy and you can play San Diego all there. But that's still only this much of an upgrade right? Right. You could go out maybe go third a real third baseman and ro in Travis Shaw and get somebody to solidify that place for us because right now until it becomes Jordan Roshan's position or whoever There's not really anybody holding down the fort for the third base. So yeah your. Main. Objective is to grab an infielder in the trademark this point. After grabbing Taiwan Walker, they haven't really stayed in the fact that we're screwed with shoemaker or Pearson or anything yet. So are you pushing the panic button right now? To, just throw them onto prospects away for another pirates guy right into talking about. I don't I don't see I'd rather almost right it out with St. What you get out of Taiwan Walker and that's your big moving starting rotation and without good Brockie K. and Hatchet Ben Ryan role is with one of them and just seeing what I I almost feel like the way they've been pitching there. Anybody we're GONNA randomly get on trade market right now. I don't disagree with that I do think there's probably the biggest hole. This team has right now been a lot of inconsistency over there. We've seen from jury when he's played Travis Shaw has been very streaky He's had a lot of few hot three more called three but. Yeah I I still think honestly if it were me, I still going after one of those pirates aren't. That were remarried and Trevor Williams or tried cool were there and you have the relationship already with with Ben Sherrington. Right so jerry didn't know this is the like none other that kind of frightens me the fact that.

"I'll be your host, my name's at Corsair joined by my fellow Co, of course, as always Mr Craig Board and Mr Brennan Pentecost. What's up guys? Doing. Good Buddy how doing I'm excited I'm excited to share. Fifteen, boys. All a little bit of postseason baseball in the mix here even though we have about a month away but. You know there's a whole lot to break down. There's a whole lot of postseason talk to break down. There's a whole lot of trade deadline talked to break down. But it should be noted first of all that we are recording this. Friday evening eight, twenty eight that is August the twenty eighth for those that are listening on the podcast. Edition I guess you could say this show and not the streep There is currently lie bluejays baseball going on right now with the Jays hosting the Orioles, their nemesis for this year as it seems. That being said, the Jays are pretty much sitting pretty right now on the eighth spot of the American league with a record of fifteen in fourteen. If I'm not mistaken, they haven't been below five hundred since August the nineteenth. So they're they're in pretty good shape when it comes to that things are looking good when it comes to the team itself but I should note to start the show the state of sports in general. Is In an a pretty much an unfortunate, yet familiar space. So I kind of want to start with this. We can spend as much time as you guys want when it comes to this, but I think it's worth mentioning we've touched on this before and history has terrible of repeating itself and this time to a much larger degree with racism still being prevalent in our society. Unfortunately, the sports world is taking action with players and teams boycotting pretty much or protesting their respective games, the Jays notwithstanding on Thursday evening, the Jays, and the Red Sox game was pretty much boycotted to raise awareness for racial injustice specifically. Spawned on the acts committed to Mr Jacob Blake, who was shot seven times in the back by by policeman Brennan. Start with you how do you think the team responded to this I know the red sox sort of took the ball initially in the bluejays followed. What are your thoughts also should be noted that today is MLB celebration of Jackie. Robinson days usually held in April but today given the shortened season. This is celebrating it that was a word salad for me you can take it over. Now, very good way to start it off out of MRS discussion that everybody should have especially with three of us who are Caucasian male over the age of twenty eight.

"You never know and when you had that kind of pure talent I'm not saying this is like Bryce Harper level might be i. don't think it. Could be. Yeah, he's there is nobody saying that he's anything short of a major leaguer. Right? That is point one way or the other. You have a stand out guy. He might make it to be. You're superstar like some people are projecting him to be, but this is an everyday player that we're going to have in our system for a lawns is. The biggest thing I think is we know is basking to carry us where he's going to fit in on the diamond itself, I think Adam, and then we run away with us. That's what I'm saying like it's it's June twelve, two thousand and twenty Mark My words by twenty twenty five. He's going to be on the Canadian colliver of MLB. The show you more Oh. There's the bold prediction. By twenty twenty five watch stamped it. Seal it is. It's an audio so you? Take through the Archives of Jaybird watching find this episode. That guy haven't played the lottery sometimes. I made some really good calls on that kind of thing over the year, but I don't WanNa, take credit for one of them right now. I said Never Roberto assume it was gonNA. Come up right after mark. Stroman got hurt and spring training. And I said he was going to run away with a jaw. Which means that it did yeah. I was right about that, but I didn't think about how bad of a person and other things that are. Filled in. Reality you might be a good person that one incident, but as far as it goes I'm not gonna be doing that, and then I actually called in the beginning of the season that I said you'd be dumped Jose Reyes. Dolinsky Jala matters as and guess what happens before the end of the season was nuts. They might not have the best career Blue Jay, but he was better than Jose. Reyes. Yes, yes. During that season I would like to go back and watch two thousand fifteen highlights and see how many ground balls went through raises likes. Gone it was gone. Yeah, it was I. Mean I know that was a as favorite player? That's why he wanted to trade for him so bad. It was a difficult trade. Him Away was days learned a little bit more than that since I think Oh. Yeah, at Baltimore are the Atlanta Braves team is looking rather ridiculous. And but I just think shocked me. I think the most about it is..

"Everybody is in full agreements that we might have gotten the best pick number five. There was a debate among tigers twitter. You'll look at it and and other people that they could've taken Martensson Torkelsson best rhetorical. Some another Uber Prospect, but there is an equal case for Martin as well to be taken there. And he talked about being able to maybe plug and play him after drafting off. He's only a few months younger than Vladi and he's already up around the same as bill. Why not if he's polished enough? Right, now if I was starting to season, and you guys were given me in the if the Bazeley baseball rule roster, stuff was just enough different. I have a chance of winning fifty game season as a blue Jay fan right. Throw them in there. See what happens worst case scenario. He's learning from major league players in the season where there is no minor league baseball. So and I think that could be said for some of the other picks. We're GONNA talk about here shortly, but. I just don't see Martin, being shortstop like he was drafted. As we have much debts at shortstop I. Don't know how you guys feel about that. I wonder if he doesn't work out in the outfield. And he just turned into Stud and let's say he's up here maybe next year or two thousand, twenty, two in groceries, and still in the minors and the blue. Jays are kind of hovering around five hundred. Maybe the guys above I seriously wonder especially 'cause wealth. They got down on the system or Elvis Martinez is also third base source off as well right so. Report there, yeah, very young, but he's talented enough or you can come quickly. I think this pick maybe for me. At least pushes grow sense for there to the trade block where you need that last pick or higher now. No, no. We had back in February. Whatever where if you get the right guy? And only find groceries if the right guy especially now that you have Martin in there. And he laid the majority of his I'm at Third Base Vanderbilt, so it could work. Because I was gonna say I was going to say like if we have these positional players and we're using them. Pretty much capital to liquidate to get these. Top of the line front of the rotation aces that could be very beneficial, and those are the types of players that we kind of need like no disrespect to Ri-, he's The aced today, but sorry, really he. He's the today, but he's not like the ace of the future so if he can trade groceries for someone pretty young I think that can be beneficial, so I have an issue with that because we are. We have a lot of backlog when it comes to me, talent, yeah! which is crazy? Talk but I think this goes to an old saying that Russell Martin said when he was still in the club. You build a team up the Middle Catcher, second shore in Senator, and then obviously you need have plenty of arms in that situation and guys I think they've gotten to the point where they know they have enough arms coming, so that's why they went a little lower on some of these guys with the. I would say sure things with these other pitchers. Coming up on this draft lists that we're going to talk about your but Adam. If you started the season today is that Aset that we're all kind of dancing around for the future on your major league rosters. Start off the year. Nate. I still don't feel comfortable putting them in there like I know..

"Vanderbilt is a perpetual were college world series candidate, if not the victor and knowing somebody's coming out of this program in diving, literally full-on headfirst into our system, as adamant pointed out, he could be here as soon as. Whenever how we start playing baseball and that might be just because the blue jays lack of depth in the outfield, more or less put him on par with everybody, and you know you catch fire in everybody's watching. Never know what's going to happen and everybody from Scouts on Austin. Martin has been saying his bat is ready. which is saying something when he just finished up a season with only metal bats? So I. Know the Metal Bats for college baseball pretty much. Weight wise, not anything crazy. It's not like they're playing with a negative twelve I didn't lily. That's not a toothpick made out Lumina. But fellas. Everything. I've been reading all the video. Everything points to Austin Barton being a good fixture as the middle part of our lineup is concerned, and that's saying a lot with our middle of our lineup looks like currently. Yeah Yeah, he's. Now only so they're projecting him to be like a third baseman type player. He's kind of a good utility player from what he's been doing in college like he's been playing more. Positions, but ever GonNa take him at third that sort of a blessing in disguise because come around twenty twenty two. I think that that's when we're going to give up on the body experiment at third, even though he's got a great arm sort of wild, and I don't know what position is going to be working out from long-term so if you get rid of Rowdy Liz and shift over Atlanta. To first base that Infield, right in Bischette a Craig and Vladi. That whole you know. Infield is just amazing and to think about that. That could happen. Come twenty twenty two home, and that gives me so much optimism. I love and. Even then if he put in there, what are you doing with? San Food because he got. Ready by twenty twenty three right like they're. They're loaded in the INFIELD. Me personally just from seeing the video is seen on Martin playing. Center Centerfield fell. Modestly kind of encouraged letting him play Centerfield okay, and seeing that he is the Kevin version of what can actually hit April right. And don't get me wrong. I love watching employer and his tenure as a blue Jay but enabling only. Just so spurts. And watching the tape on Martin. is a beautiful fluid swing. It looks like he hasn't tweaked thing in his whole college..

The guy the point where he's starting to go a little bit. I think yeah. I think he's got to go. See your ago okay. I almost made the trivia question of who who famously broke their leg. Tearing a double player was a triple play. I can't remember. The ball is thrown around home plate. And then you know after that the still guns guy out at third base after he got trucked breaks his Shin or something role. Zank see you stumping myself. A trivia them randomly asking in the midst of this no wrong with that question number eleven follows. Who was the first Blue Jay to steal fifty bases at a season demoss? Oh Garcia Onus Nixon Shannon Stewart Dave Collins or Raji Davis. If you like Raja Davis is one of those players that had like a tremendous amount of earned success after leaving like home. Run Game Seven. And we're GONNA win Razi crazy crazy clutch about. I'm just jumping around the room because I was just like. Oh my God. What is going on right here. I know period racy so but yeah as far as that. Kinda fun goes one of these guys stole fifty bases many times as career and one of them was many times is a blue Jay. Dick move she. I think I got it but I honestly a lot of these have been gases all these flat of all right like I said I couldn't make it too easy. I know. Well it's good some of these I. That's the per per being the hostess week or Trivia to me the Horner of all the information. Hey look guys oh. I love that hat. Voices has of those in I guess we're going to have the hook atom up. It's so nice. We're still seldom. I think they're actually discounted right now on the. Oh then I must buy there. You go absolutely. Here's discount it on all the minor leagues sites right. Now I've almost went abroad. Go nuts blue are not sites Shirts on their site really awesome aright which Blue Jays pitcher owns the single season record for wins at twenty two roger. Clemens Jack Morris Pat Hankins right holiday or days. The trend with these pitcher question. A lot of guys couldn't make it too easy. Go basically look at our career war for pitchers for single season even collectively right. Those five guys that are on every list and that was on vladi night. I think it was up to Sarah and met my someone's rocking a raptor. Sure right behind you Brennan. Oh Yeah Right. They may have been playing that night. Or maybe the very beginning of the here with Yeah it's a moral conundrum about the game with me. But you're like a and you can come up and I just remember. We went to bar in goofed around afterwards and Saas highlights released. I think that's what I remember. Yes a trend with our terrible slowdowns but apart that logo. Yeah I figured I'd rocked some of the old stuff there in this show off where we came from. That was my to start a public cash or anything. Yes I'd hand doodle this so to give you an idea if I can do this shit. You guys should be able to do a little something. I'm a terrible drawer. So no no no drawings no badge jewelry during well. That's what maybe just stick the sick. The marker in your kids you know indicted around a little bit. What happens so question number thirteen? This player has the highest single season war in Blue Jays history. Who is it Josh Donaldson Jose Bautista Roger Clemens Gianola rude or Devan White? I think it's Kinda crazy. That Josh Donaldson Accumulated Enough War. And the two three years that he actually was on. This list was pretty damn dominant. Was that mind you? This is single season to not collective right. We're almost there feeling hung over shock last by a it was a fun night. That was when I actually brought. My family. Had A bunch of Yankee fans and mets fans. Oddly enough with me during one random holiday weekend and that was me and my after the fact after you know the the inevitable sweep that happened because it was unfortunately guys. It was twenty seven when that happened. All I wouldn't God give me everything. Good Adler for free down at like three seconds. I am kind of upset that you can't see the shock on all in the back of it because that's what I did. Do it shot and I kept drinking. I just saw speaking I. This is the picture I sent to my wife that night and I was like this is my feeling so anyway. "Right and the fact that he has the track record where I'm counting on all upside and I can't make that argument. Not Get the Red Sox appoint here though this next one craig again in the exact same mall Is the one that we do with shortstop lot? Amir grow junior against Rafael Devers. Both very similar players divers came in In two thousand seventeen and hit ten home runs as a two eighty four average and a three thirty eight Oh. Bp Next season struggled divers in four hundred fifty at bats. Twenty one home runs sixty six rabies a to forty average and a two ninety eight. Oh bp but then devers took off at thirty. Three home runs a hundred and fifty three eleven batting average and a three sixty one ob lottery grow junior after year. One fifty home runs fifty nine. Rbi a two seventy two batting average and a three thirty three OBIE P. Now I think Craig Vladimir Guerrero junior could take the step that devasted from two thousand eighteen to twenty nineteen. That was Denver's third season I think wad junior can take a extremely similar step going into season number two which would in turn theoretically could be Roger at midseason. Don't you think right now? I if I'm looking at these two just excited or being both fan bases because Dahmer's is what I think. The that Vladimir Guerrero junior is going to be as early as this year. And I don't see that being a problem with what we've been seeing in our off-season footage already especially in our new blues. He's in his best. Shame so it's far as it goes. I am literally barely pencilling. Rafael Devers is a win on this one. Because I don't think the C. I. Raviol- Denver's what we saw last year. That's his ceiling. He added Berry Spurt. Season Brennan if you look at his monthly splits and stuff. There's some ups and downs than that where I think that Vladimir Guerrero Juniors Bat is going to carry him around wherever the hell he wants to go so right now like I said on paper on barely given Raphael divers the win on this one over Vlad I agree chalk it up to the red sox but I barely I think we will revisit. At midseason both the verse bogaerts endeavors. Were slide and take a more convincing. Argument for Vlad will be made then Bow and bogaerts battle. But it'll be close so two points for the Red Sox. They're on that side of the diamond. There you go three more Craig. Three more left field right now. Penpal into Laura's guerrilla junior three hundred fourteen at bats only had forty or sorry twenty home runs fifty. Rbi to seventy seven average and a three twenty seven ob in five hundred. Forty one at Bath Andrew Benintendi. It's thirteen home. Runs with sixty. Rbi to sixty six batting average at three forty three. O B P very similar looking players when you look at stolen bases average an OB P for the most part I think Florida's brings us some more power than Benintendi does but where you leading here right now. I think they're the same player. I do like the upside. I seen alerts correal's junior especially knowing what his brother has done over the last few years trash cans inside love it. I love that red so now more junior over Andrew Benintendi and I think that's just because I haven't seen what I thought I would see from Andrew Benintendi after watching them in the minor leagues as much as I did. I agree I remember how much Red Sox fans were. Hyping up Andrew Benintendi to be this next superstar and it just kinda happened. He's a solid player. I would one hundred percent take Andrew Benintendi on this James Roster but Yeah I don't think he'd lived up to what people have thought he was going to be led to believe that he was going to be the next superstar in a red sox uniform and watching him play in the minor leagues. I was not questioning that at all. Run so all of a sudden to see him just kind of be. I'm going to say a good of very good outfielder. He is not a superstar. And.

"So than or ballpark. All around us more. Not Johm our all those guys. Back in the day but Young twins That could be A GIG OF VALUE TO Where the World Series? They beat play money right now. Yeah and they. I think with that offense we already had the most home runs and Major League Baseball last year. Minnesota twins and then you add Josh Donaldson and Company to that lineup. It's GonNa be scary scary there so but as far as what? The Red Sox are getting on this friend before we start diving into possible ramifications throughout the league and the trade. The Red Sox are trying to give their new management. Some flexibility they finally fire are hired. Ron Reinecke today. Apparently it was what the other news. Yeah which I thought was honestly for where their team is going a rather good move on their and I'm kind of upset about it. I want to plug in the red sox so as far as our team a somebody that's gonNA find a way to more or less. Get all the baseball guys that they do have after losing bats and price Reynecke Guy. I think that could live fire under the remainder guy's ass and it's not that they're losing. Everybody is a team. That's still going to have raphael divers who emerged as one of the best hitters in the American league basically last season or at least a doubles machine. Zander bogart still Andrew Benintendi. This is Oakland offense. That still young and has a lot that could go right for them but they also took a giant hit. Losing a former. Mvp and face of the franchise in somebody like Buki Bats. Aw Man I mean it's not stretch at all to see that movie. The last two maybe three seasons has been the second best player in baseball right behind. My Trout Mookie betts same talent and I if Boston Red Sox fan and beyond belief but they actually pulled the trigger and just did not want to pay. Mookie BETTS BECAUSE JD. Martinez would be. Were probably I would imagine with another good season the opting out of deal after next season. So you can use that cash to get rid of this. Thinking here prayed which doesn't make any sense to me so apparently the exchange numbers before this deal happen. The Red Sox came in at at believed ten three fifty or three hundred something like that and we came in at twelve four twenty. I believe so. There's already discrepancy there. So why do you think getting rid of that to get RID OF DAVID PRICES SALARY? Which is a law. There's a lot of money committed David price over the next three years. But why do you think mookie? Betts will come back to you if you didn't value them as much as he did. You had them if signed him and find a creative way to get rid of prices money that way. I don't know it just seems like a really backwards way of doing things. Because that's what people say people think that they're gonNA use the money saved from David Rights to try to resign. Mookie betts when he's a free agent but who's to say he's not going to be signed with the dodgers star in Los Angeles beautiful weather all the time and you were staggering tax right right. I completely agree so this is a very good chance. He could just fall in love with Los Angeles in research with the dodgers so this could backfire massive. Wait for the Boston Red Sox and hey coming off all here for it buddy. I'm here for it so being in New York. There's a plethora of Red Sox fans here and I know there's plenty of up in Toronto. Is I had a bunch of my friends. That are die hard red sox fans and honestly they are not even heard about. This whole thing is they. Didn't think that mookie betts ever had a chance of signing for that long term. They thought what are the other he was going to be gone and they wonder in. This is coming from a few people I know they wonder how much Buki bats is actually a flash in the PAN. I don't see that but I can see the argument enough to know okay. Maybe they seen something because they watch more. Mookie betts than I do because alls I see is a sportscenter highlight reel or when he's disturbing Jay's I mean I go back and look from start at Twenty fifteen so I'm GonNa Throw Twenty fifteen out the window try. It just started a two thousand sixteen. He had an eight point three F. Four two thousand seventeen went back down a little bit to five point three then. He had the insane twenty eighteen year. The Red Sox won the world series where he bat four three forty six four thirty. It'll be a one hundred eighty five way. The reds create plus and a ten point four four and even six point six last year. It's kind of hard to replicate at ten point. Four four season and six point six. That's aimed at the elite level. Stuff he's been in the league level player for three of the last four seat and so I mean I guess I don't know I kinda floored by my friend Yeah I I they also saw was two thousand this money that they can spend and spread out this the other catch. Maybe they go after anybody like that and they complement his team to the tune of what really brought the blue the Red Sox those world series in those years was really collectively spreading out the talent especially their most recent world series. Win Right Yogi Batson. All the company were emerging but in all reality. They're big star on the team at the time was jd Martinez so as far as who you just took it and wrote an open check for. There wasn't the previous Red Sox. Let's throw money at everything and get Manny Ramirez and run away with it. Yes they had like. I said Chris Sale and company but I that's the other thing a lot of them. Just don't know what the hell do Chris Sale. So that's the next red SOx probably between him. There's a ton of money committed Chris Sale. And is he really going to be the Chris? Sale that you think of when you think of Chris sale or is it going to be random wildcard? That can't make it all the way through season. So maybe they turn around and spend more of that money on pitching than somebody like bats right. It's a fair question as man. We really starting to see Chris Sale Labor for the first time in ages. This patsies. I mean you got to only fifty one hundred and forty seven innings and four point four zero. We are a it was not good for sale. I mean some of that seemed like bad luck based on its fan grasp pages field in fielding and pitching was down three point three nine so that significantly better even still just on the circuit. When you're looking at you like shit. What happened Chris? Sale so Maybe arms about the fall off like that deliveryman. I'm surprised that he hasn't had a history of arm issues already. But totaled. Yeah so but then again. Maybe it's an odd thing. Maybe he's report sell two point. Oh so but anyways let's talk. Some of the fallout here. Before we dive in the exact pros and cons thing that you want to do here between the Blue Jays in the now look red sox falling out for the American League in general especially the American League is what does this do to your wild card picture Brennan panicker. Ooh That's a good question because I'm not even sure risky back. I had the red sox in a wildcard spot to be completely honest with you I mean going through it now. I think that completely eliminated from from the conversation unless some people get hot and stay hot throughout the entire season but I think it definitely opens the door Craig for potential bluejays at Red Sox to be battling it out for a third place. Maybe the race of a bit. You never know maybe second place I mean. That's getting optimistic. But in the whole picture I mean this could open up the white socks taking big jump forward And being a wildcard team or it could mean. That wildcards are coming from The American League West and maybe the American league central. Maybe the Indians could get in there. Who knows I mean it will adds up to some more winds for the The case when they play Boston But I I think it just puts the Red Sox I talks not in the playoffs conversation at the right now. I mean it's still a good team. They still got some good players but he disliked U. S. player. We'll have some superstar rate pitch innings regardless of David Price. Lujan definitely needs to be part of this conversation. As far as David price goes regardless of what red sox think fans think of him? This is a guy that still put an almost two hundred innings the last couple of years. So it's the guy is eating up innings no longer taking up those innings that is now going to all of a sudden shift. Wait to Chris. Sale and company for guys are already like we were talking about a minute ago having fatigue problems. So there's going to be a stand up thing for the red sox here for them to be. I still think on paper there at that. Same Level as the Blue Jays and the raise but I think the team that benefits actually the most from this whole situation in a wildcard picture. All son is the frigging Chicago White. Sox Yeah I don't I don't disagree. I don't at all agree. Because the Cleveland Indians were regarded. They still have ridiculous. Pitching even after trading corey. Kluber that that offense just doesn't strike me as anything special in the fact that that lindores allegedly still being shopped. I'll believe that when I see it right now. This whole Buki bats thing is putting a screeching halt to any other offseason moves until it is finally signed off on Apparently the MLB is getting really pissy about that But as far as this goes to the Chicago White Sox all of a sudden the team in my opinion there. That's still all the Blue Jays that just had that next striking spot that they were on the outside looking in maybe unless things went right but they had the right signings the offseason that really filled in their gaps and I can make the argument that they filled in the gaps a little bit better than the Blue Jays in certain things because they had some of their talent level on the young side. Wasn't anything like what the Blue Jays have. And I think that's where we're going to segue into the next part here brandon and seeing you're gonna be kind of the next couple of weeks was your idea. I want you to run with it and you can host this piece nobody. I'll do it. I got to end with a day without art for the next two weeks. It's always good on my idea. Craig where we hopped on way got talking going through the agenda. Rundown was now gone. Why don't we go through onto each depth charge and see on it like well? I obviously be biased to our team or game vice to the Blue Jays. But we'll do. I best take a neutral fence perspective on choosing who has the advantage at each position So with that. Let's start going through. Where do you WanNa Start Craig? I'll let you start. Do you want to start with the bullpen rotation or do you WANNA start position players starting with catcher? I think we start with the pitching first period. Care if you go bullpen or starting pitching but I think we need to literally hit with a bang which is what the Blue Jays fans are here for. That's true and the Big Bang. This off season was on the rotation side of things with Rio. So let's kicked off so craig if you're GonNa go through and had your choice between right now. This is how the Blue Jays Steph. Chart Goes Hundred Review. Tanner Roark Matt. Shoemaker Chase Anderson and Ryan Baraki as the top five versus Chris Sale Water Rodriguez Nation of all the David price before..

"Mvp ONE YEAR. He was fantastic. So it's unfortunate the way his career wins but man. He was a fan favorite and I remember in the World Baseball Class. They can do that tonight. The one year that it was in Toronto I bought a surely the adjusted more no World Baseball Classic candidates. There was one of my favorite jerseys ever. Just because I loved more dough at the time the guy was a perennial just talent and I think you're right. With as far as some of the some of the luster all of a sudden was gone after that concussion but the guy gets still district and mash at the plate and what a first baseman. The biggest thing I've had about what he played in during his time as he got lost in the wash it with a lot of those other insanely good first baseman that those that age and it is what it is but as far as comparible players I always thought Justin Moore no was a more powerful John Olerud crazy. It's not far off the swings. Where you early similar if you look at the feed and everything. They always batted three hundred. And you know more and more in the Ballpark in home runs verse older. It'd probably be into the fifteen twenty s but oh my God is watching the two of them play. Baseball was just quintessentially. Awesome and watching Duane Ward. Is the other hall of fame -ducted here? Kat come watching him come out of the bullpen. To this era out in the world series. Those couple of years was just amazing. It's like nothing can stop them. So I I'm jealous you got to see all those guys. I truly have gone taking everything you say and I will agree with everything you. I'm noticing this as like a twelve year. Old Kid Dude. It's something special about watching those guys play ninety two and ninety three and literally whenever they happen to be on. Tv here in the states. It was must see beaver. Made my dad and I and it was just great that the playoffs and the world series and everything those years and like I said watching Duane Ward as most through major league hitters is beauty the only thing that sucked as far as honestly. This is a guy that could have been one of the best closers in the game. I think but injuries arm problems. All sorts of things combined piled up on Wayne War as well. But that's unfortunately how the game goes guy. Didn't they had common key when we would set up for him right correct and the to the end of the game? There's a reason and ninety two. We just rolled over. Everybody say if you have to wait word and Tom Hanky based on what I've heard about both of them And watched both of them that That topic to elite closers at the back end of your bullpen essentially awesome. Yeah bluejays fans for the younger millennials out there. I know like I said I'm dancing on the line. Thirty five or I'm just old enough to remember but if you can youtube footage of these guys pitching you're going to be an all watching duane ward. Go and same thing with Donald. There was a point. Brennan that when Ted Williams was interviewed the Ted Williams Red Sox insanely good last guy. Hit Four hundred Ted Williams. He said if anybody might be able to beat his match the four hundred batting average like he did. He said it would be John Wall rude if he was just a little bit faster on record so good stuff but that's how good of a hitter John was. I'm trying to load up. It's fan graft page right now. Just in our Jonah Law and talked about it so he was his highest yet. He came close one year. Three sixty three and three seventy no. No that was And on the Eighth Day Ninety three days had the best three hitters in major league. Baseball is Janelle rude with some insanely ridiculous. Godley meriva batting average. Then Paul Molitor and Roberto Almar Jon Ola Rude in nineteen ninety three had an on base percentage of four seven three. He was almost on base half the time. That is insane. Yeah so like I said watching John. Olerud hit was a thing of beauty and there was a reason in two thousand one that only not only each euro went up handle. Mcdonnell was on that team. That was the most winning team in Major League baseball season. If I recall right is the two thousand and one Seattle. Yet you're right but the other one mariners. What was at one hundred sixteen one hundred thirteen? But that's a that's a Ken. Griffey junior lists mariners to it was insane. The see that all of a sudden you know you get John Wall rude and each row in that line up. And there's just hit parade. Going on Alex Rodriguez so it was what is but like. I said there if you want to study hitting especially if you're a left-handed here just go take checkout video. John this guy rakes so anyway right and show we dive into the topic of the hour. Oh let's do it like crack up with the major league. Baseball News and WITH POSSIBLE FALLOUT TO HELPING TORONTO. A Blue Jays. Mookie Betts is close brandon close to being traded to the Los Angeles dodgers with teammate. David price and a bunch of cash apparently tonic. Just boom banked four the red SOx in a three team trade with the Minnesota twins. Those are the two players go into the Los Angeles dodgers. The Boston Red Sox get Alsberg. Do go from the dodgers. And apparently the current hold up is Bruce Star. Gas grabbed her off from the twins the pitcher and then the twins get Kent on my Ada from the dodgers. That is a pretty epic trade many proportions for three different teams. Getting really what they all want this whole thing. I think Brendan twins. Want Red Sox won the young talent and the money freedom and the dodgers get a guy that's GONNA be insanely complementary to the reigning. Ibp and cody bellinger. Oh absolutely my only question with this Craig is. Why do the twins want to part with grads? All because this day I believe last season he won over three. I know he's had a ton of injuries. Or you have had a recent injury paths but that seems like a steep price to pay for just come to my Ada. I mean it is all right but like it's not like it's worth partying with one of your best pitching prospects. They get kept my ada so out of all three teams. I think the twins even though they needed to high end guy and needed to get somebody. 'cause they they one of the main ones for hundred review and it seems they lost them to like crap we don't have a high starter say went out and got show seen. They went out and got rich hill. one other and my Ada. I mean he's not as high level High ceiling as hundred reviews. But I mean it's not terrible. It just seemed like a piece of business for the wing but I get their happy on pieces things but I think it's one of those things that it's more quality innings than they had last year. Right it is. I think that's where they're going with this whole thing but maybe the other thing is like we couldn't get Ryu so maybe we'll just go for another dodger pitcher and hope for the best. Yeah sure what now? I figured Craig. It's actually I mean if if the end goal is just to show up the rotation of a little bit and plugging my eighty three. You're looking at it really good ace and Barillot and then you brought back owed originally. And then my. It's actually pretty decent pop three when you start looking at it. So maybe it's not bad as making it up to be but still seems like a steep price in my opinion is worse case scenario similar blue jays rotation you just have good consistency throughout right and then people ridiculous. Yeah the twins. The twins could be Other outside Canada for world series champion. I'm just my rig right now. I always kind of had a soft spot for the Minnesota twins for some reason more.

"Yeah yeah actually. It's a decent signed right. It's more yeah. We saw him a forty forty one gains the Blue Jays. Craig back in In two thousand eighteen. And you know he was okay. He didn't hurt the blue. Jc actually brought no value is therefore came in at zero point zero so he didn't hurt somebody else didn't help them. And you know what if you get a few solid outings reliever and you can kind of keep that rolling. I mean you've seen some of the stuff that Patricia has even back in twenty four team. When he was with the white sox he was starting to close games for them Getting Fourteen saves in seventy three innings with a to ninety sixty so there is some talent there the actually has quite a good fastball. There so I don't mind it. They're familiar with them and clearly I guess people offered me of whispered something into the ear. Hey if he's out there might as well give them a call and bring him back because he does have a live arm. He didn't see much major league action last year. Though yeah I think. The keys of movement on his pitches when he gets that last little bit movement on his fastball. You literally see a missing bats and then the days were. That doesn't do that. That's home run balls especially in the Rogers Centre. Oh yeah big difference in day to day stuff for Jake for tricky about it is what it is and I think this is right back where we set a bazillion times on this show. There is no such thing as a bad minor league signing were Ski Brennan. He's in Buffalo. And you've got another valuable arm to come up with somebody is either. You know not quite getting it done or gets hurt. This is just exactly the kind of stuff they should be doing to fill in these little holes because there are some good chances that we're going to talk about here in a few minutes of right things happening for the Blue Jays year. Things could happen so anyways. Let's talk about some of our other. Recent past Mr Panicker Kendra Morales apparently officially announces that he retired for Major League Baseball today in an interview with the ESPN. He saw slightly frowny face. I love watching love. The person that Koenders Morales and then he was fun to watch for two years. It just hurt and I know for all blue. Jays fans the fact that most people didn't like Cannabis Morales was the fact that at Koenders Morales is not Edwin encarnacion. The only reason Craig. The only reason why morale is just kind of had a dark cloud always hanging over when he was With the Blue Jays. It's unfortunate. He's a good hitter. He really was More so earlier in his career he kind of tailed off a little bit towards the end there but in two thousand eighteen he had a better season ended in twenty seven team at the blue gave. Twenty seventeen I think you know he came in. He understood that a fan favorite Historic Blue Jay and all time Blue Jay. The on his gone and he had to fill his shoes ultimately. It didn't really work out. I mean morality wasn't like atrocious by any means but he just wasn't Edwin encarnacion and he did bounce back a little bit in two thousand eighteen and with all the positional flexibility. This front office continues to talk about Craig. There just wasn't any room for them to be on the big league roster Come Opening Day two thousand nineteen and the whole job. Jeanie Tracy thing happened. Talk ridiculous amount of years control. No he was not only was. I always loved watching kinder's morale is especially back in the day when he was wearing the Jersey. Because this guy just could rake at the plate and I hate saying this but I can pinpoint where his career started going south and is nearly certain home. Run Ball that. He somehow breaks his leg when he stops on home plate during a home. Walk up celebration. How could you go from the highest of highs to literally the lowest of lows in the matter of a second I he this guy the year before that was just destroying baseball's to the point? Brennan where he was batting three. Oh six had forty. Three doubles and thirty four home runs to barely getting the fifty one games bank to ninety at that time and it breaks his leg the following your house and time literally one of the premier up and coming talent to bats at that time in baseball and just he didn't come back. The same power wasn't is there is it was there was plenty of it still but this is a Guy. I was starting to think and you know late. Two thousand eight watching them in the minors two thousand nine when he came up. I'm like this guy is GonNa hit forty home runs and have one hundred every stickier the. Oh yeah no doubt the most ever hit the season was that thirty four in two thousand nine when he had his career highs in most categories before the injury and the L. Y. Craig he was definitely on track to have a better season in twenty ten then two thousand nine and then he broke his leg. And it's like Oh damn this guy he's GonNa be out and he was out he missed it now. After he broke his leg he was all twenty. Eleven came back for one year. He had a decent year but that was more. The Koenders Morales with the one nineteen to create plots. Like not in Detroit. Good exactly they. At least what we saw so yeah other than that. One year that he had in Kansas City royals on the world series where seemingly everything went right for that team. Countries Morales came close to bouncing back to what he was with the angels and two thousand nine hundred even everything else from two thousand ten onwards. Yeah I agree with you. It just wasn't the same for him. It didn't seem to fame. At least there's just something missing but I I completely agree at one point. I thought he was going to be the next great power hitter. They do it for years and then they could just all caught up with maybe not so much the fact that he broke his leg just age and everything slowing down and he wasn't we feel threat either and it's amazing. What not having a good foundation the plate will do to you but Brennan as far as Kendra Morales legacy at baseball goes. He's known as one of the better. Rbi switch hitters in recent memory. I think not on the level of somebody like Chipper Jones as far as switch hitters. Go Brandon. There's not been a lot of them over the last few years. And this is a guy that was gonna hit you. Twenty bombs and be around eighty. Rbi's every year. That's saying a lot I think. And the fact that he was usually posted above the two. Sixty two seventy at batting average. That's pretty good stuff at a lot of teams are gonNA miss. It is and you know why I think the one thing that we just fans can think tenders morale sore and I guarantee you think Craig because it was kind of whispered about on twitter that the reason why the Blue Jays signed Koenders Morales was because he's representing him and Louis Correal Junior. Have the exact same agent that represents them both and so who or something like that. If I recall I believe so I believe they are close family friends and he'll Kendra was each mentor to both curry. Als But mortis especially they teammates but I'm pretty sure that part of believe getting ludicrious. Junior was conditioner on them. Signing Kenya's Morales which is why did he did it? So early in the off season remember that signing was like a week or two after the world series concluded with branches. Ale started yet right. I was like okay I mean. I don't if like tempers. All actually white him It just seems a little odd that you're acting this quickly when you have Edwin encarnacion on the free agent market so. He had a few good highly team. Craig Walk us a few absolute moon shots but I think we as fans conduct we thank him for getting alertus Korea to the PUFUS. Because I'm pretty sure that was a package deal. Yeah and if it wasn't a package deal one way or the other we head avoid at first base the agent time if filled up something that we needed and he was salvageable for varying playing very good baseball. Offer somebody his age at that point in baseball the fact that he was like I said Brennan isn't eighty. Rbi guys the one year and in all reality. If you got a few more at bats in two thousand eighteen it could have looked very similar. Both years I think. And that is the slouch hat and the fact that we didn't have anybody else to play first base injustice smoke when he was just completely tearing the ball off. You know you're not going to have to really good first baseman. It's usually a lot once and haven't smoked play first base in great defense and hit the ball as hard as he did for two years. And then some make. Kansas Morales behind him also switch. It worked out pretty well. I think the Oh it was so fun. Watching Hendry's Morales actual play from first base for the first time in years because he didn't look much a train wreck as people thought it was gonna be actually held himself together pretty well when he played first base so. I got a good kick out of what he was over there. Don't they on Yankees First Baseman for this year to you got to be they were so depleted pace but like Okay you're the only the only guy here it can be One last I'M GONNA say Canadian Baseball News as far as this one goes as the Canadian. Baseball Hall of fame has announced this year's inductees Brennan. And this is a pretty cool glass. I'm happy with it The Larry Walker. He gets inducted. The Baseball Hall of fame baseball fame turns around and bring someone in the native sons and Justin Monroe are adjusted more. No and then you have John Old Rude and Duane Ward. Who are in. My opinion could essential bluejays when I think of the two of them and I still think a johnny all only wear a blue jay helmet. Nowhere where he is. As far as years with the mets and the mariners as well. It's there's nothing better than John Already. Being part of Wam go and everything to me. It's just one of those things you literally can tune into TV back then and you just see afraid of watching the five of them. Just go at it so insanely talented players coming into the Canadian Baseball Hall of fame. You had have at least watch. Justin Moore L. Play as much as he had been all for watching. I delete I believe is actually at the game where more no sustainable can catch And really derailed his season because I believe the game I was at the Blue Jays were wearing the powder blues and think we remembered him. I believe fighting in John McDonald At shortstop I think it was Johnny Mac and they were in the powder blue. So I'm pretty sure Craig. I was at that game. Which so unfortunate because man is more now did not sustain that concussion which really started to derail him. I mean he's still Hudson. Good seasons out there that with the rockies and the twins but it wouldn't have been such a stretch to say that could have been a hall of Famer If he stayed healthy is entire career because more no is at one point he didn't he won..

"jay" Discussed on Jay Bird Watching

"Good Evening Blue Jays fans and welcome to Jaber Watching. We are back. I know it's been a slow off season. The last few weeks outside of some other major league baseball news but we are back and ready to kick off the whole season once a week every week. Maybe a few surprise episodes here Brennan Panic car. Were back man how you doing baby. Friday night episode but go Saturday. Friday beer rain for upright very rare. Feels like we've done that a couple of times last in the last few weeks but it's been kind of how things was landed with both our schedules being insanely busy over the last few weeks so but anyway are you guys like snowed in with way. Too many meters of snow up there definitely have some snow. Probably worth the North Bay by a slippery. Walk over to the subway this morning and getting home this evening so hopefully all that shit over wasting yeah. Well there's a good half a foot you know. I gotta be American for five seconds and whatnot here in the good old Rochester New York but I cannot be thinking anything else of spring training and today brandon. We got some good news for spring training. Come in and we got the Blue Jays non roster invitees as our first talking point for tonight's show and there are going to be twelve prospects including one recent minor league signing that are GonNa be also a part of this for the non roster invitees to the Blue Jays Major League Spring Training Camp. And can we talk anymore about Nate Pearson being the highlight of this group? But I'm looking forward to talking about Nate Pearson. Because he'll white man you know how last year Boba shut was talking point spring training. And everybody's like they bring this kid north same thing we've Vlad it's GonNa be nate tears in this year. Everybody's GonNa see him. Hopefully they'll out there light up the radar gun be like Shit. Just stay north. Making nive in the rotation just limited innings. Don't even send down to the cold weather Buffalo Yeah that's going to be talking point and it's not gonna go away anytime throughout Spring Training Craig. I guarantee that will be one of the top stories. Other than Vlad being in the best shape of his life. You don't need to worry about him going to buffalo or Rochester anywhere here in the international league I roads on I ninety here Because it's going to be one of those years. I feel like that which is kind of been delayed this year. I just feel like the minor league season is going to be at least two weeks. Late hopping like two years ago by. Yeah the Rochester. Sort out the Rochester Red Wings and the Buffalo Bisons. Were supposed to be playing back and forth series to start the week and all Western. New York. Got a Nyah ladies home again. This is the year that you were seeing the bills like you know in the in the snow and everything and digging out that kind of like epic with winter here unless jewelry and the fact that if it happens that way. I'm not worried about at least that means. These guys aren't pitching in that. They're working in the complexes and gyms all I kind of good stuff but I do think that Pearson we'll be destined regardless of how I think he will probably be the talk of camp and now we have guys that were hoping are rather the talk of camp but is what it is so but the rest of this group is pretty damn good Brennan and a lot of the guys that were looking forward to talking about on our you know top prospects list which is going to start. As soon as next week we have it all compiled. The math has been tabulated. Well all our God. I need you do the math though because I talk about thank you I went full rotisserie baseball score with it and I guess we could talk a little bit and give a sneak preview with some are just missed the top. Thirty countdown guys. Just tease everybody a little bit at the end of this show. Maybe but as far as it goes. Brenton this group. That's going to Dunedin to kick off spring. Training wonderfully new complex is looking pretty good outside of Nate Pearson. The other twelve prospects are brian baker thais travis bergen kirby snead riley adams alejandro kirk. Nash Night Kevin Smith Logan warmoth Joshua plus IOS and forest wall. It's a pretty damn good brew Gruber prospects and plenty of guys that we've talked about on this show rather collectively Brennan's or anybody you'd like to give screen time to here on the show today That group Yeah I take right away. The two left these That could play into the bulkhead. Could stand out right there craig. I mean Travis. Bergen last year. He got some big league time with the giants when he was likely the rule. Five draft so I would imagine that of the monitoring guys who were up in Kent Travis Bergen and Kirby Sneed the other lefty maybe Thais the righty harvest three best shots at cracking the bullpen When the season opens now that obviously gets into questions Craig about who would be fade off of the twenty six man roster As we casper started recording but yeah yeah it. It's I think those three for sure but you know other than the studs like Pearson and Alexandro Kirk. I think one of the more fascinating wants to make crates force wall onto the outfielders they got from the Colorado rockies and someone ordeal. That's because as we know and a bitch about all off season but we just need some more high end talent in the outfield. Now I'm not saying for us while could be that but man. He was an all star down to the minor leagues last year. They seem to have made a little bit of a step. Enforce Law could put himself on the map in spring training. Make people aware of him. He goes down to buffalo and starts off hot. You never know men maybe they They have stumbled into something. We're for us while I'm really intrigued to see him. Now Hi round draft pick for the Colorado rockies and it was one of their top prospects for it seemed like an eternity at the time where they more or less. I think gave up on for his wall on that side. Lonzo deal the Blue Jays management has done a pretty good job of finding guys in minor league systems that they like and they pilfer and they know what to tweak as far as things go and we think we saw that last year with forest wall even seemed like right way after that trade Brennan something was a little different about forest wall from what I'd seen in the minor leagues from him previously or is something about that swing man. There's a little sweetness going on there. I wouldn't be shocked if he all of a sudden comes in the spring training. Hot and we'll hopefully. That's what happens because that would be a very nice surprise for the Blue Jays in a very convoluted outfield situation here where everybody is kind of not rising to the top. You know what I mean. It's kind of just. We could all be about the same. I couldn't agree more. He could just being in a bottle. You ever don't know what it could be. They could just be a coach. That's really connected with him. Down to the minor league could be anything. That's really sparked a turnaround. But we can't obviously have talent craig and you know. I think there's a few other guys. They're on the place. That really need to start impressing spring and I think the top of the list for me in terms of some of those guys that I think and hope put themselves back on. The map is Kevin Smith and Logan warmth to the higher Round infielders that. They've picked in previous drafts. Kinda phone off the table a little bit with the rise of San Diego aspinall as we continue to trace him so acquiring for Steve Pearson and others I mean even if they just have a task spring training and start putting themselves on the map around the major leagues and it could be uses. Trade pieces come the trade deadline to get an athlete at fifteen offering around five hundred so go out there and Rake Kevin Smith and local warming. Because you need to. It would be very nice to see those to come back to form and I think they both had that talent to be able to do that. It's whatever the heck that piece was last year this seem to be off. The chips didn't follow the way that they were planning. Obviously but Kevin Smith has insane power. I saw this kid play in Lansing and a few times and I was just blown away by how hard he hits the ball. Great batsman identity at to see Logan. Warm it too much in while he's been wandering around but the two of them despair so nicely and this organization depth. This looks insane if those to return to form. Because I don't even know if I want to prove lewd where they might be on our third top thirty prospects cop countdown. It is what it is folks and they're a lot lower than I would have expected as I guess how your T.'s But who I would like to see. And I'm looking very forward to seeing is Riley Adams Alejandro Kirk due to other young catchers off. Riley Adams has been literally not even in this conversation all kinds of talent but hasn't really mustard altogether seen in good flashes in the minor. Leagues Kirk has been a frigging little stubby hitting machine watching Kirk. The ball is very very good stuff and then the other one I really liked. I've always liked the tools. That Josh Palacios has ideas waiting for that last piece of his game to develop and I always wondered how much of it was a maturity thing. And he's getting in that ballpark now where he's been in double A. and he's looking around double A. And possibly tipping into the triple a level if that last piece finally comes server him. This guy's got NAD wheels. It plays great defense and that is something that they feel desperately needs. Isn't it somebody who has wheel can cover a ton of ground and you know he's twenty four years old craigslist starting to get up there in age a little bit so police. Llosa's gotta go out there and really put himself out there for a promotion. Quick one to you Buffalo Once the season begins this season could take you and How things shake out. You never know the twenty four years old. You could see him at the big league level as the season goes alone. Could be very much in the Dawn Davis Mold right now. I think and you wouldn't be really noticing much difference between the two of them very quick. Very good defenders. And I had seen Joshua Placebos Rake in lansing and Dunedin. So it's there it can happen but it just hasn't progressed further. Pass those levels. I don't think so. Hey that's what's spring training for you. Roll the dice Josh and give them some chance to see some major league pitching in spring training. You never know what happened and it might be that last thing that gives them that..
