"A I'm a big fan of air comfort solutions as well as Jason White. Thank you for saying it. There certainly is a lot of uncertainty. When it comes to sports this fall. I can't help but think having been there and done that. How do you think you would be faring? If you were trying to train and get ready for competition with? Oh, you and they're a pandemic like this. Oh, man, I think it would be extremely difficult. Just the added Safety measures that there happened to go through with the mask and the You know, it's just Oh, you're not letting any anybody in their building. You know this that that it's so much more. They've got to go through now just to go just to go to practice and so That added stress, you know, and also the uncertainty in at any point they could pull the plug and say, Hey, we're not playing this year. We're canceling the rest of the season. Or even a game. Another coming game that you're psyching yourself up for. Yeah. I mean Thursday for a Saturday game, and they could the other team could call and say, Hey, we've got The test, but we can't play And now you just You just went through the whole week Preparing for nothing. So, uh, but I think that those guys and the coaches coaching south down there. Have have got those guys just Hey, you know what? Until we get that word, Let's let prepare like we're you know, we're playing trying people is normal as possible. I think they're gonna have reduced amounts of people in the stands. Do you think they when you when you're playing in the middle of a big game? Do you feed off that energy or do you try to block it out? You. You do block it out, but you also feed off of it. You know it. It's one thing if it's like the difference between plane and a spring game and then playing like in an actual game in the fall. It's Wholly different. You know you you run out front of 90,000 people. No, but now that they're not going to run out in front of that many people, so some players do feed off that energy, especially defensively. It's always an advantage to the defense when the You know you're playing at home, and they're they're got the whole place Rockin. I mean, it's always in advance for the defense, So Ah, you know, it will be that it will definitely be different for those guys. But I think at this point, I think that they're all just excited, including the fans and like myself. I'm just excited to see it on TV. Yeah, last last week, you know, you got a little taste of college football. You know, I was happy to see it on TV. So I think those guys just be excited to get back out there and compete against another team instead of their own teammates and hopefully try to get things going back to normal. Yeah, that That's the way it is for me, Jason White with us, so you great. He also is with their comfort solutions, reminding you to get your your furnished checkup and to call air comfort solutions for that, But that's the way it is for May. I'm not sure I mind if there's nobody in the stands, I want to see the game. Oh, absolutely. Jason When one further question I know you're still taken pretty good care of yourself. And here we are in the midst of this pandemic. Do you have any tips for people who are trying t not gain that cove? It 19 as they call it of the covert 15 and stay in shape. No, I I've, uh I've kind of made some changes myself. I've never much been for Washing my hands nonstop. No, no, I just have it And you know, I washed, you know, I used to wash him when it's appropriate after using the bathroom or from the heat or something like that, But Now I catch myself washing my hands. Every time I walk in the house or any time I have the opportunity, I just do it. And so you know, doing those small things and making sure that you're Your hygiene of good taking showers every day. Ah, you know, I think all those things add up and as far as staying in shape How about I stay in shape for a different reason? And not that I don't want to gain weight or anything like that. But all the old injuries from the fall I don't know. Your athlete in decent shape. I mean, I can always tell like I broke my arm this summer and I didn't work out for a few weeks and I can tell like my knees start hurting Mohr because you know the muscles around that me are You know, not as strong when you're not working out so You know, I try to work out this so it's a lot of it around, and it's not terrible. Getting out of bed every morning. Yeah, Yeah, that's I'm right there to Jason White. I was an avid runner for a long, long time running marathons. And now I just break it down to maybe two or three miles and then try to walk the rest of the time because, like you, I don't want to have a knee replacement or or some other debilitating injury when I'm in my sixties. You only get one You know, I know I put my AA lot, you know, trauma, but You know, I'm trying my best to take care of it now, especially during times like this. Now, you start paying a little bit more attention to your health, because because of what's going on, and so You know for me? It has a little bit of a life style change and some aspect, but not not too much. It all started for me back in as Fourth of July. Maybe four years ago, I was having a bunch of people in for the holiday cup plop went my air conditioner and I thought, Oh, my goodness. It's Friday before this long weekend. Who am I going to get to come out and fix this? And I remembered you telling everybody about air Comfort solutions, quick phone call, and they were out. They diagnose the problem, and they had it repaired in a matter of hours and had me back up and running. That's when I became a fan. That's that's awesome. It's usually when it happened when you got AH, big events are in and it's the weekend when they picked to go out. It's kind of business model we have is same day service and you not only now, I mean her last 10 years. I guess I'm not More than just a spokesperson now and actually, I run the commercial department, which you know, we do, like commercial H. J C worked on large building and stuff so It's been a great been a great transition has been a great company to work for, and just proud to stand behind. Well, I know when my unit went out, Jason White I again I was like, Oh, my goodness. They came out and within two hours completely changed out my old system into a new carrier system and had me I mean, I don't even think the house got hot and it was in the middle of summer. That's good to hear those stories because you know, most times. You only get to hear the negative reviews the great here to get the good one, and I didn't realize it at the time..

"Right next to your water, your hot water heater, So it kind of combination of you give it all done at once. You know you You just rely on the same company for all those names. One of the things they're comfort solutions is good about is preventative maintenance. And I know now is the time to have somebody come out and look at your furnace. Because here we are the first cold spell of the year who knew? Right. It's It's definitely came a little bit early, and I don't know how many people actually turn their heaters on. But No, That's one of the biggest Advantages of having a you know, do the do your maintenance is you know we schedule those maintenance is for you. And so now, the time we're calling our customers that have their own program and setting up their fall appointment so we can check the furnaces. No. And you know, one of the biggest thing is, you know Seo, which it can come out of the the heat exchanger that they're cracked. That's that's one of the check. We do just to make sure that No, There's no cracks in the heat exchangers are, you know they clean up the furnaces change the filters. You know, there's there's a big list that our guys have to go through. But it's you know, it's just like driving a car. You're not going to drive a car. And not change the oil. And so, ah, Same thing with your heat, man. When you spend that much money for a heat their system, you know you should you should maintain it. Well, one of the guys that Ah air comfort solutions told me when I because I have my check up done twice a year. I haven't come check the furnace, and then they come back in the spring to check the A C and usually, I think it's one fee for the whole year. If I'm remembering correctly, But the one thing they told me it was change your filters. And so I religiously do. I have a reminder of my calendar on the first of the month to change the filters. Absolutely. That's one of the biggest calls. We get it. Customers systems like especially in the summertime. Breathing up and you know not working if they still blow air, But it's hot air but usually the fixed so that is just your filter Your filters air so dirty and not allowing the right air. Load to go back to your system. So long time we can go out and call out the system changed the filters clean the convincer and your back up and running when if you would've just change the filters. Would have no service call or anything. Well, I remember the last time I had a check up. It was Ah, female came out and she was very thorough. I mean, checked. All the sensors checked all of them the blower pressure, and then she had this interesting. Co two gun. I don't know what you gonna do with that, because, well, I'm a clean out your drain line and sure enough, I had some buildup and one of the drain lines and she said, you know, you can You can avoid that about every two months. Pour some bleach down the drain Light showed me where to do it. So now I keep my unit's up in my attic. I keep a jug of Clorox right there, and about every two months I go up there and pour about a cup down in there. Right? Yeah, that's that's another one of those nuisance call that we get a lot of my own personal house. I have had to replace some of my feeling because My drain with clogged up and it leaked over into my feeling and caused a big mess instead of, you know. Ah, working at heat and air company. You're the last one that takes care of your own. So you know, But if I would've just blew out the drain line like you should or if I would have had a regular maintenance done, Um You know like that my maintenance Whenever I do my maintenance, it's like, Hey, we're slow at air Comfort. Can you go out there and do my house? But You know, just blowing out that drain line could have saved me happen to replace that feeling because of a lot to the water damage. Oh, indeed. And that could get really more a lot more expensive. Jason White is with us. You know him from us is for being a no, you great, But he also works with their comfort solutions. And Jason, I gather you want to encourage people to call and set up one of those one of those checkup calls Yeah, right now, you know, we're we're doing our furnace tuneups right now and you know, like you said, it's extremely important that a change of filters, but we we come out and make sure that your furnace is running correctly, and it's not Nothing damaged in there. You know, it's a lot. It's very little money for a great peace of mind when it comes to you know your furnace, especially, you know, in the first It's inside. Most of time. It's inside the house somewhere are in the attic. And you know you don't want If there are is a problem, you know, hopefully we can catch that before becomes a bigger problem. And that's one of the main thing for preventive maintenance is a No..

Supreme Court rules landmark federal civil rights law protects LGBTQ workers from discrimination

"I'm David Brancaccio we're following the Supreme Court ruling yesterday that the nineteen sixty four federal anti discrimination law does protect lesbian gay bisexual and trans people from discrimination in hiring and on the job more than twenty states in some municipalities had laws against this kind of bias but human resources experts tell us the company should update language in employee handbooks to explicitly make clear that discrimination based on sexual orientation will not be tolerated harassment and discrimination can arise at any workplace marketplaces Mitchell Hartman now looks at schools both public and private with the supreme court's six to three decision that employers may not engage in gender based discrimination against gay lesbian bisexual and trans and please L. T. educators will finally have the protection travel with dessert and be able to do their job treatment here that's all lies a buyer's executive director of the education advocacy group glisten she says until now L. G. B. T. teachers and more than half of US states have had little or no legal protection from employment discrimination we had an example of a teacher of the year in taxes disbanded for having come out to students in her classroom because they asked about the picture of her spouse the supreme court's decision will cover teachers and administrators employed by public and charter schools as well as many private schools but there's a clear carve out for religious employers says cal state Long Beach legal scholar Jason white head justice Gorsuch is majority opinion does acknowledge that churches are exempt from many federal civil rights laws and that'll likely include most private religious schools Tom prole teaches law and sexuality at Seton Hall University and is an advocate for LGBT employment protections certainly this won't reach into any sort of parochial school environment there is a law federal law on the books of religious freedom reach an act that certainly would protect religious institutions in this regard they be free to discriminate this as it were meanwhile in the wake of yesterday's Supreme Court decision trump administration education secretary Betsy to Voss faces increasing pressure to issue new federal guidance protecting LGBT teachers and students from gender based discrimination by Mitchell Hartman for market

"Dot com with our podcast it is still updated every weekday morning what we're talking about football a little bit we don't have the audio from this but I thought it was worth mentioning Jason white who is the general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers actually did an interview in which she said that it was Tom Brady who pitched himself to the Tampa Bay bucs and when they had their phone call it was actually Tom Brady who did most of the talking that's interesting right we had we talked about this a little bit going back I don't know maybe a week ago gosh all that the dates are kind of blending together now but we had we got to ask the rhetorical question of whether or not we believed Brady had made the decision to leave the patriots because of the patriots hello or did you make the decision to leave the patriots because of the box so did Brady decided he was done in New England even before he had a new team or did he find himself a new home and then think okay you know what I do actually think that'll be a better situation than New England so I'm willing to walk anything yeah right his dad his dad however talking away what do you think the light of the Buccaneers that that he had his first phone call he adversaries have their first phone call with Brady on March eighteenth it was the first day of free agency and it was Tom Brady who is actually selling them on why he would fit with the box no that seems to indicate that Brady had already decided by that point that he was leaving New England he still had to find a future NFL home though so going back to this phone call Jason says they all had a really good conversation but they talk to Tom for an hour and a half and he made it clear I'm reading this quote now from chasing light he was on ESPN on Monday he made it clear in the conversation that he was very very interested it was almost like a recruitment on his part telling us why would make sense for him to come to Tampa Bay huh if you're looking for answers to your questions who precipitated this when did Tom Brady decide he was leaving New England which came first the chicken or the egg the decision to leave or the Buccaneers patch this pretty much gives you an indication of a time line and combine this information from Jason light with what Bruce Arians said last week remember you did a conference call in and did a bunch of different interviews Ariens said that they didn't realize I guess didn't it didn't really grasp onto the concept that Tom Brady was actually going to join the Buccaneers until he made the announcement on social media that he was leaving New England so until then they were caught up in the air what do you know what that was inside that legal tampering period light is saying the first time they spoke to Tom Brady was actually March eighteenth which was the start of the new league year all right so I'm looking at my calendar now just so I can kind of outline this for you March sixteenth which was a Monday so it was two weeks ago and on March sixteenth I think was four o'clock eastern time one o'clock Pacific time but it would be four o'clock Tampa time in four o'clock New England time that was the start of legal tampering if I'm not mistaken and if you want to confirm this but I'm I feel like I remember this correctly when I woke up on March seventeenth which was Tuesday Tom Brady had made the announcement my phone had blown up he had told the world he was leaving New England but he hadn't indicated where he was going J. the light is saying that he approves variants had their first conversation with Tom Brady the next day so so I just I wanna make sure that I that I've got this right they had two conversations with him one of them was on March eighteenth which was Wednesday the next of the very next phone call they had was when they signed him but he said it was the first call on March eighteenth when they realized whoa we're actually going to add Tom Brady to our roster it's after hours with Amy Lawrence on CBS sports radio now it if you hear Bruce Arians adjacent light speak after the fact which they have they did on the the conference called to introduce Brady quarterback as ever a guy needed less of an introduction but they both indicated that he was their top quarterback option in free agency of course I mean any team who needed a quarterback was likely to go ahead and target Brady at least put feelers out there so they had already looked at it the situation even before they spoke with Brady and said yeah that's the guy that we like to bring in a house that's a guy that we feel like would add leadership and what Bruce Arians turned a winning culture he brings waiting that's his legacy that his track record it's waiting so yes we need to add that to our locker room one that hasn't made the postseason since two thousand seven so we're talking about more than a decade now since the bucs had last played in the postseason what is interesting to hear Jason white said this was actually a page that was initiated by Brady this was a match made in heaven in which Brady approached everyone in the women's pride have a crappy day today I don't know if this makes the patriots fans will feel better or worse I'm not sure if this point if you were broken hearted to see Tom Brady leave well then I don't know that this makes it worse but what do I know I'm not a patriots fan so each you I guess you can tell me if this makes you feel worse but it certainly does sound like Brady determined he was leaving based on his conversations with bill ballot check Bob Kraft maybe the offer that they posed to him which we now know was far less than the thirty million dollars per year the bucs have signed into but the the order of events according to Jason white is first Tom Brady announced he was leaving New England that was on Tuesday March seventeenth second he had a call our conference call a phone call with a light and Bruce Arians the next day in which he pitched himself as the right guy to run their offense so there is the answer leave the answer to the question I've been wondering which came first well Brady decided he was leaving New England before he had another home in the NFL he didn't like what doing had to offer and even before he knew what the bucs might offer or what the Chargers might offer member the Chargers also had an opportunity to speak with him before he knew what those two teams would offer up to him as a free agent QB he already announced he was down in New England so Brady bet on himself here now it obviously is agent had done his due diligence that had a reached out to the the various side teams that might be in need of quarterbacks but if you take Jason lights word for it it wasn't until Wednesday March eighteenth that they actually had a chance to talk to him now that's different than what we see reported day reminds me and I I do remember that it was later on that Tuesday night March seventeenth in which the reports were already out there that he was heading to Tampa Bay that's not what Jason white says maybe it's just the it was the obvious maybe there were insiders who were connecting dots maybe some of these NFL insiders knew that Brady had a conference call scheduled with chase in light and Bruce Arians on Wednesday March eighteenth or maybe do some light is remembering his dates wrong but I kind of feel like the general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers doesn't forget what day he first talk to the greatest quarterback in history and actually heard his pitch for joining the team and light is saying it was Wednesday it was the date that they started free agency officially and that that was when they realized they had him not before and so there may have been some reports jumping the gun kind of connecting the dots even though the conversation the recruiting phone call didn't take place until the next day but regardless of the actual timing of that conversation whoever you choose to believe the you know the reports medical dot com and others or Jason life's timeline I think the over arching point the answer to the question is that yes Tom Brady had decided he was leaving New England before he had a hole anywhere else in the NFL that decision came first and then he found himself a new uniform creams the goal eight five five two one two for CBS I mean it's kind of funny to think about Tom Brady pitching himself but I love it he was professional about it and and John got on to that conference call with all kinds of reasons why the book should hire him I mean that's what I would do not for an NFL team but for another radio job or a or an NBA job here are all the reasons why you should hire me I would make my pitch too good for you Tom Brady never count your chickens before never count your Buccaneers before they have a tip their swords eight five five.

Repot: Johnny Manziel Signs Contract with Alliance of American Football

"Out there. But here's the other thing is we have another. Other fitting trainwreck that's popped their way onto the scene, and that would be Mr. Johnny Manziel, Johnny football who exiled himself to Canada for a little bit. And he was playing in the CFL. He actually forced his way out of the league. He got them to remove his contract and by doing so he's now signed with the alliance of American football that new backup league that spring league that you've seen games on CBS in NFL network. You might learn what the hell is Johnny Manziel has joined that league. And it's funny because when Manziel when that news broke, I saw it all over the place. Johnny Manziel is one of those names that has a lot of recognition you talk to a lot of people, and I would bet most people that aren't college football fans enough people that aren't college football fans would have some. Idea of who Johnny Manziel is isn't he a football player? I could see that. He's just been in the news a lot over the years for a guy who so young. And and here's the thing about it. Johnny Manziel has been in the news a lot. But it's not because he's a good player. Johnny manziel. Frankly. He sucks he's bad. And I didn't buy him as a prospect. He faded out of the league. And here's how quick it was. He got drafted at twenty fourteen. He got cut at the end of the twenty fifteen season. He lasted two years. That's it. It's horrible. You could really say he was in town for about a year and a half horrible. He goes to the CF L. He sucks there. He's not a good player. But Johnny Manziel is a guy that gets a lot of attention draws a lot of eyeballs people will watch the af for a couple of games watch his Memphis team play because they want to see Johnny Manziel. He's a big name he stumbled that people are attracted to. Why is that? That's what I have to ask. Why? Yeah. He was a Heisman winner. We don't care about a lot of Heisman winners. Where all the blogs about Kris Winky or Jason white where those guys I don't I don't hear much about him. Mark Ingram was a free agent. Former Heisman winner nobody really talked about that. Not a big angle eagles need former Heisman winner. Mark ingram. No, it's it's just not how it went. So nobody cares about Johnny Manziel the football player. Everybody cares about Johnny Manziel. The human train wreck the guy who's going in and out of rehab, the guy who's had all these different issues. Police calls all this different stuff. He's been a disaster. The guy's an absolute mess. The truth is people always drawn to train

But he got her up and clapping Oni at one time. Right. And I can't imagine Jodi Ellington who has by the way represented west Texas in a probably one of the I don't know. I'd consider him on the best representatives of of what we believe. He's classic. He's he believes in west, Texas. I think that when he's sitting in his chair, and he's in his committees. And. He's giving a talk on the floor of the house of representatives. He believes truly in his heart that he represents all west Texans, regardless of your political of you points. And the fact that I think about often could you imagine having to sit down across the table from someone like AO see who wants to get rid of Cal arts. I mean, that's true story getting rid of catalog together. Yeah. And yeah. Anywhere now today that was trending today. How the green new deal and and Brooks, Cory what's that guy into the New York Senator to ask me? Yeah. It's Corey the Senator from New York he tweeted today that maybe that's there's a good point to how much me Americans e Booker Booker. Yeah. I mean, he actually tweeted that. And so when you ask Ramsey about Beto would he run as a centrist? There's no it's not even worth him running right now because you can tell the, you know, the one thing that I did see where Joe Biden were to jump in and Beto became his VP running-mate routh the bat that may throw some kinks into the whole political election in twenty twenty. But I just don't think the Democratic Party is under the control of a centrist democrat. View agenda. You don't talk with some people today who and we'll bring this up again on Friday, some people who are in California over the course of this week in Hooghly on Castro came through and get this California. Democrats very unplaced with who the on Castro because he wouldn't take out the LGBT mantle that he wanted that. They wanted them to take up and would stick way from a couple of other issues environmental. And otherwise thinking, he's too centrist. It's crazy to me. I mean here we are. I remember John Wayne in the Cowboys, there ain't no other. They say it there ain't no Sundays west of Nevada on the leaves. How they put it. In in that context, you aren't going to get a whole why that cohesion between Texas and California. But they're thinking was that who he on Castro is way too centrist in? So as better roared, which is unbelie like this crazy like here like now Begnaud roared. No, cure O, barrow Beto. That's what I see. No, cure Beto. The the thing about betta that I see. And I don't understand is. He just says lots of different things. I don't think he truly has. We'll say this dot he came on with me. We sat down for about forty minutes. It's they're on our soundcloud on our podcasts, and we talked about the border in our remember asking him point. Blink don't you think the border is more of an ideological issue where your party wants inclusion at all cost. But here were asking them to exclude that maybe you can be defined more by what you are not than what you are in him handling that issue in saying, yes, we need to firm up the border in people who are here illegally need to be sent home. And you'll base upon Monday night in a just makes me second. Guess what? I was told face to face that. Maybe you don't believe these things. Maybe you think that? Not not only asylums, but others ought to be brought in when I think that's the majority of the democratic presidential nominees are people running for the nominee position of the democrat party..

"I think he very much has a calmer tone considering what his tone has been the union was pretty cited. The union was good started the program by saying it's almost like your buddy who you've known your whole life. You've played ball with them you've race dome. You've done all sorts of things with them. And they sit down the grand piano based on the say the union the other night and sits down the grand piano in begins to play like he's Bach. And it's like, I didn't even know you could do that man. So he he does that. Right. And he did that during the. Out of the union. But yet the Democratic Party is like this crazy rave on the beach right now, and that's the comparison. And so I don't know. I think we have a president that understands that the border, and he's portraying it a lot better that the wall is a lot more than just a barrier. It's about the humanitarian crisis at Brennan Darby has been preaching for years south of the border south of border. Yes. But it's for years. It's been a humanitarian crisis and gaggy brand RV shutout Emmys, our friend and he starting to make moves himself. Yeah. Been talking about it. It's not just the problem is in again, I say south of the border. His big focus is always a hundred miles south border. Not just at the border or Lord south. alf. It's the problems that exist to the south. Hey, so you were featured in lots of national publications for being pro-trump. It's amazing that two years ago, at least the media portrayed the interaction between myself a red hat wear. You know, make America great again hat walks into a restaurant this very progressive left and meets Rosalind who was a. Woman's March supporter and the media did a good job of getting our story out there. There's a lot of misleading things in there. Like, the great Brits. If you recall said, we were wearing cowboy hats because we were from west, Texas. I don't really own a cowboy hat, but you know, I still get emails. I had a gentleman call about three weeks ago to the office. It said that he just read this article about us he's from San Antonio just wanted to thank me. So, you know, during that time period, I received a lot of hate emails and a lot of threats, but also received a lot more kindness. Remember the threats, you know, white privilege row. Kill you all kinds of things I have all those emails, but it was nothing. Like what those kids went through. And what people are going through now. "He's sitting at fifty two percent approval rating, and that Pogos way back it's daily presidential tracking poll that is consistent. And if you look at it, it's very consistent with Obama, George W Bush, and the fact that he's had been hit so hard for. From all directions. The media the liberal left the collusion idea. The he's a racist. The building of the wall. The fact he's sitting fifty two percent means that something's going right in the middle of America. Not the far, right? Not the far left, but to you and half years ago. You would have never thought that the liberal left would be passing abortion bills or even talking about the type of abortion bills or passan? You would never think the green new deal would be an issue or even in conversation, look at New Mexico, and what's happening with them. So a lot of change since we've been with since we've had our show. Yeah main. I think it is surprising to a lot of people that if if there were ever a time in I started Showtime locally at there were ever a time for like Lubbock county. Democratic Party to begin to appeal to the middle. Now's the time in but you keep like we keep waiting for. Right. And I mean, you know after this. I think I'm done waiting. I don't think you do you do wait because when you have the type of voices that are out there. I mean, look at the New York congresswoman, I won't even say our name, you know, when she tweets something, she has fifty thousand plus lions, see AO, see, and she puts out this green new deal and the Hawaii Representative gets on national television the next day in his interviews. And they're like, you know, the tourism and air travel to your state your island is important. I never thought about that. But she still on the right track because of the emissions. Yeah. Base upon the air traffic, but they continue to fly their private jets and fly airplanes and go to all of their rallies. Beddoes rallying in El Paso. Oh, and they fly home to Hawaii. There's just such a hypocrisy amongst the party when it when it starts to fall far leftist as if it would if it fell far, right? "This is sort of a natural thing. And it also, you know, gives Beto a chance to shine. Now, why the president would want a rock to shine or whether he even cared. I don't know. But it you know, it they couldn't have are. They had to expect the head to expect the counter rally and had to have a pretty good idea who was going to run it. He won the night. You know, I don't know that anybody won the night. I don't know if this is one of those events anybody's going to be talking about in a week or not, you know, these things kind of go by it. You know, you had a president making his point about the wall, and, you know, in advance of the negotiations or in sync with the negotiations that were going on between the house and the Senate over this Bill that you know, could shut down government. It looks you know, at this moment could change, but it looks at this moment like this settled all of that. But he had a you know, sort of a classic rally. He, you know, rallied his troops around the finish. The wall idea build the wall idea he continues to maintain although local officials in L Paso, you know, flatly deny it Republicans and Democrats alike that the wall that went up in Paso cut crime in Paso, the police stats don't bear that out. But that was you know, that was his pitch, and he went down and made it better work came up as you would expect in defensive. El Paso, much smaller. He had a bigger crowd and a smaller audience. If that makes sense, I think more people nationally were paying attention to the president than to Aurora. But at the, you know, the reporters that we had in L Paso on the scene said that, you know, there were more people at the Aurora rally than there were in the Coliseum by by some number. It wasn't. That's what they say. Okay. So go ahead. So I, you know, I like, I say, I don't know that this is the kind of event that you're gonna remember as a, you know, the day it all started, you know, Beto Roker, whoever the democratic nominee for president is going to be has to run a gauntlet, and it's starting to look a little bit like what the Republicans didn't twenty sixteen and they're going to have a dozen or more candidates. And you know, I would I would be really hesitant to handicap how that race would go much less say Beto rox going to be the nominee. Been a Rourke will run as centrist. Or do. You think he'll run left of center? I'm not convinced. He's going to run for president. You know? I think there's still a chance that he runs for Senator does something else. And you know, if looking Cornyn, right? If you're looking at the field of candidates for president, you know, that's a big field has got a lot of big names in it. And you know, if you look at your odds, you know, you might want to do something else. I don't know that he wants to be president, you know, at the end of the day. I don't know that you know, you gotta sit down and really have a conversation with yourself about that. And I'm convinced. He's he's undecided. I'm, you know, I'm not gonna say that that's the majority opinion. But you know, I don't think until he says he's running that he's running Ross Rainsy with us here at Ross Ramsey on Twitter Ross tells about property taxes, and I've been told that the wills are off SP two that the loot. "This win should be on the list. So it's a big giant mess. The Democrats jumped into this and said you're trying to do voter suppression. And tell people that the shouldn't be able to vote and scare people away some of the Republicans can tax the attorney general, for example, said this is an example possible voter fraud and problems on the election rolls, and it turned into a big partisan fight. But at the bottom of it is this list that. It is by you know, by most accounts of flawed list. It's not a completed project. They don't know really how many of these people if any of them were non-citizens who were registered to vote and or voted so so David witless confirmation hearing comes up in the middle of all of this and he walked into partisan fire and went before the Senate nominations committee last week endured a couple of hours a really tough questioning mostly from Democrats. But also from a couple of Republicans, and that committee was gonna vote him out and for full Senate confirmation on Valentine's Day and the chairman or the chairwoman. Don, Buckingham state Senator announced earlier this week that they were just going to pause this and not vote this week, but it would come up later. So an indication from outside that, you know, they don't have the votes yet. Well, don't have the votes she has on Whitley wanted Pablo sip down. You know, he didn't leave at a, you know, he didn't say anything peculiar at the time. And it wasn't really a remarkable piece of timing. I mean, you know, the, you know, secretaries of state sometimes last a couple years most of the time they don't last that long. They don't stick around that long. The election was over, and you know, that's pretty normal inflection point for a secretary of state to step down. So that wasn't particularly unusual. And nobody said anything at the time a lot of people now. And you know, now that we know what was going on with this list, and everything and that had been going on for a while a lot of people are wondering what you just asked. You know, did he leave? And did it have something to do to his leaving has something to do with all of this. We don't have any evidence of that. Ramsay. My political shrink is I lay down on his couch and get my Texas legislature mind right with us here of what did you make L pass over the other night on Monday night. It was pretty clear that. To me that this is my inference in you start with this in shoot me down a Fini. Tune though, you will this is better Rourke versus Donald Trump twenty twenty is that how you made it out to be why bit a wrote make the efforts that he did it. It's a little bit that way, you know. I I do sort of wonder, you know, if you're in the White House, and you're looking at this, and you say, you know, what if we go down, El Paso, and do this and you play that out, and you talk to your, you know, you just talk to your political stats say what will happen? The idea that someone local will do counter event is pretty normal. Every time the president does want his Maga rallies. You know? There's there's always the, you know, the democrat, the Democrats, and whatever locality he's in do some kind of counter rally, and if you were thinking about that from the standpoint of the White House and several who would do it down there Beto ROY is the natural answer. If you did it in San Antonio, you'd probably get a counter rally from. Holy on Castro. You know, so on. So I think in some ways that, you know, the president wanted to make a point about a border wall. The L Paso county Coliseum. You know has been there for years. I grew up mostly no Paso, and it's right on the border. It's the old cow palace where they had all the where they have all the rodeos and everything and it's right on the border. So if you're gonna stage event like this, and in particular, if you're going to do it after you've mentioned crime going down and El Paso after the wall was built during your state of the union address..

"Jason white says, isn't it funny that we buy lottery tickets when it gets close to a billion as if though one hundred million dollars isn't worth taking a shot. The I agree with you, dude. There's there's no logic to it. There's no logic to buying the ticket not for any one individual your chances are one in three hundred and seven million actually a little worse than that. It's like three hundred seven million three hundred and fifty thousand and change. I agree. It's insane. The whole thing's completely bananas something about that. Number though, it it got me to get into line nuclear weasel says he's bought his ticket his fantasy. He's going to earmark three million dollars to take care of his folks, then he's calling Kate island to give us retirement setup. He's going to put a bunch of money into the scouts the girl scouts Cal guns. And he says he's going to keep working for the forestry service. Maybe by himself a new truck. Good for you, man. I I'll be honest. I hit the jackpot. I'm gone. I'm gone. I love this job. I love talking to you guys. I really love the idea of going to a cabin in the woods and not having to commute or read the news ever again to just be unaffected by it. All. Brian ball hall says he does not gamble. But if he won he would become Batman good for you. Forever. As fan says I'd take the lump sum and buy a house by my family houses, getting RV and headed east. And when he got done travelling you by Papa Murphy's. So he can have pizza whatever he wants good for you, man. J? Barry says one hundred million dollars invested at ten percent equals twelve million dollars a year that you could put into valley public school programs. And that's the thing winning that kind of money. I really don't want the responsibility of administering it. I'm on I have to admit, I'm selfish. I'd like to take care of my family, and like to do some cool stuff. But a billion dollars your life is now overseeing the stewardship of that money. That's what you do. And that means you get to do a lot of great things, and I have to say confronted with that. I'm still of a mind that probably seven to ten million dollars takes care of everything that I need to take care of. I'd probably take that much over again to do stuff for my friends and family, the people that are close to me. After that, education, education education education. We've got some really great school districts here that would be even better with truly top-shelf funding. How m- how much better with the graduation rate be in Fresno unified? If we set up vocational training facilities at every high school campus. How much better would our economy be if central unified had a comprehensive history and civics program that was not just fully funded, but that extended out into all branches that gave these kids the opportunity to earn college level credit and to climb up that food chain and understand that better going out to Clovis setting up stem centers, and really all of the schools could use all of those things were I to become a steward of that much money education is where I would start for sure. And I I'm pretty sure I could find a billion dollars worth of education spending. What a wonderful gift.
