"A tie up with the media assets off 80 and T and Lisa Discovery this morning. Absolutely flying. And rightly so. I mean, the idea here is that they're going to be potentially presenting competition to the likes of Disney Plus and Netflix at a time when streaming reigns Supreme. Of course, the big question going forward how much people gonna actually have multiple aligns of streaming in a post pandemic world? We can actually do stuff. Let's talk about the share price. Yes, I see and see right now. 33 West Discovery Discovery closed almost $80 earlier this year. My question this morning is how Bill Lange would have felt this morning if they still got done, And then you look at the share price. And you wonder Whether they steal all these talks would have even happened if arcade goes, haven't even blown up because they said Discovery is still trading at half the price it was three months ago. The idea here is have valuations in stocks. Certain stocks been depressed enough, right reset enough to create some of these opportunities. I think it's an excellent point. It's a great question, And on the flip side, there is a question of how much emanate activity can get done. Some of the high flying stocks, particularly in the cyclicals, given where valuations are now versus how much they could potentially have room to increase as the cycle drags on, So we're learning about the numbers this morning, the 18 T shareholders would get Stock representing 71% of the new company, the other 29 going to Discovery holders. Also learning a little bit about the leadership was well here, Lisa that David's that's life looks like he's topping the throne. Of this company on the water Media CEO just does not get a mention There was a press conference. This died about 32 minutes ago or so on the 18th and see CEO saying that the warning me to see Jason Killers future. Is to be determined now. One man he wasn't gonna mention so far this morning. Is Mr Stephen. Certainly former 80 and t. C. Oh, no. Let me tell you up front running a company is really, really difficult. This is not may throwing any shade of Mr Stevenson. But this morning is about unwinding the failed strategy the failed acquisitions of a former CEO, and then there's a question of how they use the cash infusion that they're going to be getting the $47 billion. If they're going to be receiving. Are they going to pay down debt? And will they end up more leveraged post transaction than they were pre transactions? How much does that effect Their potential Tonto to adapt to the five G environment, especially if there isn't necessarily an infrastructure plan that's passed very true. We're going to touch on that in just a moment. Get a fixed income side of this story for you as we can You dance to be open about that one out 27 minutes until the cash opened Futures down 19 on the S and P. We declined just a little bit off by 4 5/10 of 1% into the bond market year was 1 63. 35 on tens basically unchanged this morning to euro dollar euro just a touch firm. A stronger euro dollar higher once when he won 50 up about 1/10 of 1% and just to round things out on crudely so about $65 in 13 cents W C I, we're down about 4/10 of 1%. I feel like I have to channel Tom Kean a little bit because he's not here today. When you talk about how the 10 year yield is unchanged, I was taking a look at the real yield. Oh, my goodness said he got really negative over the past week or so. When I was gone, it got missed. You have a deadly, but it raises this question of you know, Are you going to see the move in real yields and not in nominal yield, And there's this basically indication that the Fed is keeping its some on valuations completely. And it's not reflective of where inflation expectations are well imagine over the weekend and you're looking at the price action. You would've seen the breakevens breaking out in Foshan expectations picking up in 2000, really, or just Gone the other way, please. I know it's interesting, though. I just thought I would mention that with the abdominal yields so boring. It's not boring about. I'm not saying it's.

"And so those people are the ones asking, why are we getting this kind of thing but I'm excited to see just because I'm a huge fan of Michael C hall. Obviously one of my favorite shows, a six feet under this is another one of my favorite shows so. I'm super excited. Yeah. Mix News. Is a Kaelin it's? Tom. Okay. So what's up everybody you know is. I. Don't know if we do. You know who it is. Sometimes DC boy takes takes a break for marvel. Mannequin. Anyone cabinet see no one saw that happened. No No. So this is this is the craziest stuff. So Hey, what's up everyone if you haven't looked outside the America at least, it's still pretty much shutdown over extenuating circumstances. and. Disney has decided. Of Allah. Bob. Chapman. chapstick. WHO's the new CEO after Bob Hager eager where you want to call them. Tomato Tomato, as we saw Mark Hamill and Patrick Stewart talk about that and over east commercial. That, there will be a new division under Disney. That is going to handle distribution and media entertainment So this this new division will pretty much be the. Spearhead of the company where they are looking to prioritize streaming as their Their their company business strategy. All is this the first time to happen. No it is not now what was the first time to happen with Disney home video now? So. Earlier this year around June. We started hearing shakeups. Shakeups happening at Warner Brothers because of the recent acquisition from at and now Warner Warner. Brothers became Time Warner, and now they are Warner media and so with that being said the new CEO. Mr Jason Killer. Is. All also strategize also said, we're going to go and make Hbo Max the New Forefront of our company. So a couple months ago in a similar fashion, a of shakeups. And a lot of heads rolled. A lot of people got fired is a really big thing that happened at DC particularly, that was like made huge amount of news and so similar thing happened. This past week with Disney. Where a couple of new divisions got created, a couple of people got fired. and which happens in business. It's a very normal thing. It's A. I wouldn't call it a necessary evil but as an evil that I think everyone just kind of like. Complicit with because it isn't this forward obsolete that that what started as a hobby for them or an extra service is now becoming a core pillar the business. That's really where to say that. This is really weird I. Want to say it I really don't but some of them being like you know we should just make it so that we can hold up all of our. Licensing. Means Continue. But like the implications of this on multiple levels but I'll let you continue your story I mean so. You know everything that you already love about Disney will stay the same in all honesty. So Alan Horn. And Alan Bergman will still continue doing the studio films. So everything that you like all the remakes and the Star Wars and all the Kevin. Feige well, all be that thing and..

Now we're going like we are playoffs and championships are now. So it's really fun. Is a good time to be following some overwatch East? Sports? All right. We have a big one here guys the next few big ones here. Big Shakeup at Warner Brothers Warner Media the new chief Jason Killer he came in and he wanted to refocus the company saying that we want to focus on streaming and stuff like that. He's trying to get other side projects out of there unfortunately that means jobs earn a risk. Yeah he's pushing HBO Max. That's why it's been really successful. It has thirty six point three, million subscribers already launched like last month. But that's because they've been putting everything into it. They've been acquiring outside you know shows provided put on there. They've been shut a lot of these university to put on there so why? Do not. Well, we had a room that they're going to sell the gaming division. Actually was backed up, but it sounds like they're actually either backing away from that or it was never going to happen. So it sounds like the gaming division staying underwater numbers. It's very good. They make a lot of great games A. Favorite, of course, a shadow of washout of more but they also make a Batman Games in the legos US effect that really solid games what are the big things are doing is trying to sell Crunchy Roll I. This is where we need a Daniel show because he's one of those guys at like has crunchy roll probably running right now as we're talking. Just playing some rain demand may that I don't know about This has a huge enemy library and three million subscribers. The parent company is trying to move them as part of the restructuring in the current top bidder is Sony, they already have the competition is funded nation. So this could create this like new all encompassing. anime service that would have funded nation in animals and the critical enemies on their Warner, brothers one or one or media's one at one point, five billion but Tony's trying to negotiate a far less price. I think this is a good idea to kind of have one sole place that's bringing things over to America. Especially, Sony would be really good at it. It's been a bit of gun when anime so. If I could get one sub really catch up on things. I might. Recall about this and have you guys been in an anime recently or is kind of falls by the wayside John What do you think? Yeah I haven't watched any anime in a long time, but honestly, it's mostly because. What to watch 'cause there's not much advertising forward anything like that around here. So it's all just kind of word of mouth but if there was a single streaming service that had in a high quality subs in dubs than I, think it'd be a lot more likely to try some amount yet. Yeah, Sameera. Anime I really got into a full MEDOFF missile. Good their longtime ago right. But a haven't gotten the enemy in quite some time but I think it was one central location be great. But. Do you think it's a smart move for one brother to give it up? Yeah. I. Don't think it is for one thing I've I soon as this is coming out, I was discussing with somebody else. This prospect and they brought up the fact that there's a crunchy roll section in Hbo Max at that love that because it's that part of Mexico curates animation them to watch..

Later in the story according to the DNC update players can also turn on a permanent mode in the last partout. In other Games perma death suggests failure at even a single death meaning players would need to start over at the. The beginning if they I the, you can't stop this trophy goes to players that complete the story on any permit death setting, which suggests players can apply permit up to multiple difficult types. That story is linked in the show notes. It's unclear exactly. When this update, we'll be going live, but if the game is already getting the trophies than it should be pretty soon, it's a cool mode that I, sure, folks will be excited about and take advantage of, but it's one that I personally can't imagine. I. Will Ever touch that game is already intense enough. Final Fantasy, seven remake and fall. Guys are both selling very well. It's time to do some sales discussions because the numbers are available and they are pretty impressive. It's also interesting to see these two games sales side-by-side. Final fantasy seven remake based on April. Tenth of this year has now surpassed five million copies sold which according to developer publisher square INEX-. That makes it the highest selling digital release on playstation and square INEX-. History fog is is a very, very different game that released on August fourth. It has already sold two million copies just on steam. The game is currently a playstation plus game which makes it available to download for those who subscribed to playstation plus so a lot of people played it there. But two million copies sold on steam is kind of a mind blowing statistic. Congrats to developer media, tonic and publisher devolve digital devolve has only grown and expanded as a publisher with many impressive hits over the last few years. But media tonic has also really grown this year with fog is obviously doing very well. That developer media tonic. They also released murder by numbers earlier this year, which is game I enjoyed in a press release from devolve digital reads. The euphoric team of media tonic devolved digital are thrilled to announce that fog is ultimate. Knockout has welcomed over two million players on steam since its release on. August fourth, making it to companies most successful launch ever the big question. Question for fog is at this point is how media tonic will continue to support the game. They pretty clearly have a hit on their hands and it's one that I think is going to transform into a bit of a living game. Just out of necessity I really think it's going to make media tonic a studio to keep an eye on moving into the future. Warner media CEO seems to be considering holding onto the video games division deadlines. Nellie injury posted a story on Friday that shared quotes from Warner media CEO Jason Killer, which touched on some ambiguous details about the company's future. Things are apparently being restructured their which may lead to layoffs but killer, which is a a rough last name to have. If you're talking about laying people off, seems to be optimistic about the company's Video Game Division. As, it stands now the video games side of Warner media is supposedly up for sale that means properties like mortal Kombat and game developers like rock steady. The creators of the Batman Arkham Games in the recently announced suicide squad game could theoretically be under a different publisher umbrella in the future. Nothing is confirmed and nothing has changed. But killer did have at least something to say about it's video game division in the deadline article in response to the areas where Warner media sees opportunity for expansion killer talked about the CNN brand saying there is lots of room to its footprint and he said about Warner media's video games. Quote. Also, we have a very strong interactive team about two thousand software developers that tell interactive stories. The unity to go global with that is very, very big as well. That story is linked in the show notes, and you can read that quote multiple ways killer might be saying, Hey, look at how attractive are video games are, would you like to own them? They're for sale right now, it could be a sales pitch, but you could also read it as an area of the company killer. Now sees opportunity for expansion in Restructuring Warner. Media might want to get rid of the things that have reached their apex and focus on things that have things can grow like CNN and video games. Only time will tell what Warner media ultimately decides to do, but I think it's a small but interesting new detail all I care about though as a consumer who just likes video games and wants to keep playing video games is that whatever warner media decides to do with that Gaming Branch? I just want to make sure rock steady gets to keep making video games and I would like it. If their current project suicide squad is not interrupted in any major way, I would hate for them to like have to scrap their work and start on something new. They've been working on it for so long. So fingers crossed that. Nothing. Changes they're. Not much in terms of new releases today, but Neon Genesis Evangelical Jalen is collaborating with Puzzles and dragons starting today and going until August twenty third. I should really like puzzle and dragons because I like a good match, three mobile game. But it's when I never really got into is think the most I played. It was the three D. S. Mario themed version, but I watched neon Genesis Evangelical for the first time when it came to Netflix's recently. So this makes me kind of curious to go. Go. Give the game another shot and speaking of Mobile Games game of Thrones Tale of crows released for Mobile Be Apple. Arcade on Friday I. Know The game of thrones franchise has really fallen from grace and interest in Ip has waned significantly. But this does look interesting. It's a management where you are in control of the comings and goings of the nightwatch sending out groups into the frozen wilderness to go do like surveys and stuff. It has a cool art style to it looks kind of interesting. That's it for gaming news today, I played a little more paper, Mario, the Origami King this weekend. It's almost laughable how slowly creeping through that game I also played a game called death unchained this weekend for oculus quest I somewhat randomly received a code from the publisher to check it out, but I was eager to do. So because I had played the game on Oculus rift a few years ago, enjoyed it. But anytime, I can play the quest version of a rift. Rift Game I will always take it because I ve vastly prefer quest losing those wires. It is really everything. It's a rogue light where you are making your way through a randomized series of levels that takes place in sort of dreamlike medieval fantasy kind of castle. You have a bow and Arrow. As you're only weapon unless.

"It was really depth article talking about Jason. Killer, and his process of how he came in basically four weeks prior to Hbo Max Launching and how he's trying to change the focus from being so focused on advertisers cable companies to. Shifting the focus to the consumer, and how to better the experience for the consumer, because long term that's what's more important than the cable companies in the advertisers, so there was some talk about the ad supported version. He specifically was quoted to say that he was shown. An ad supported model. He then went back them and said No. It's too expensive and you have too many ads. You've got to figure out a different way of doing this, so we already knew that there was an ad supported version of. Of Hbo Maximum is in the works, but this just further confirms that it is in works right now, and they're gradually trying to figure out how to make it work so that it's a good price point that they can be competitive with the other streaming services. There was one other real quick comment that was in there, specifically dealt with the Harry Potter films. I think a lot of people were taking surprised by the fact that all eight Harry. Potter films appeared on the Service Day, one and that. That was not previously announced, or they did not even talk about it, and those were familiar with the licensing rights of Harry, Potter would would know that NBC universal had a multi year deal in place to license all the Harry Potter films specifically for their cable services like Saifi in USA, but that that deal was good till twenty twenty five, and it turns out for the months leading up to HBO Max's launch, one or media was trying to figure out a way to get the streaming rights to the. The Harry. Potter films specifically for Hbo Max, and it turned out that killer called the CEO of NBC Universal Jeff Shell, and basically worked out a deal the night before the launch of Hbo Max According to the Article I. Don't know obviously the terms of the deal or anything like that, but it's a great thing that somebody who's so new to the company was able to come in and actually work out a deal that allowed those films to beyond their potentially less than twenty four hours before the. The service actually launched which is great so definitely worth the read if you if you can check it out like I, said it is behind a paywall all right so then jumping over a peacock peacock has announced that they have teamed with Google. They will be on Google devices when they launched for their national expansion. In July, peacock has also balked up their library with a number of Viacom CBS properties through a licensing deal, specifically films and certain shows that previously appeared on CBS channels like charmed, which was. was originally back on the CW and the WB years ago, but was was produced by CVS and then Ray. Donovan which was recently on showtime along with shows like the Godfather, which is from paramount peacock is going to have some of that content immediately on their service for launch. Now the one thing I will say about that is that is odd considering just last episode. We were talking about how back the COO Viacom. CVS was saying that they were going to hold the rights to a lot of. Of their properties, or at least their major properties the way he said it, they were gonNA. Hold their rights back to. They can have it on their own service. Now no one there's no nothing to say that these rights are only going to be good for like maybe six months until NBC universal has a little bit more original content available for the service or just more content in general that is freed up because we know the offices coming at the end of twenty twenty parks and REC is. is going to be coming, so we know that there's more content coming, but it's more of a question of. Did they strike up this licensing deal for short amount of time so that they have more content while Viacom CVs is still working out whatever they're going to do with their streaming service that we know isn't coming into actual twenty twenty one. I thought that was very interesting. And then finally peacock is also very unlikely to make deals with. Roku Amazon prior to their national launch. Now this obviously. With what we've been talking about with HP, Max for the last couple weeks in the fact that that deal was not able to be secure by one media with Roku Amazon. They've had their own fair share of issues with those two services, but the biggest thing is Roku Amazon. They make up seventy percent of the streaming devices that people are using and it. It turns out. Peacock isn't going to be able to make those deals happen. Either my take on that. Is that Disney somehow was able to make it work for their service. And that was the last one that probably got through and I guarantee you that Viacom CBS. When eventually comes around? They're gonNA have their own issues with with Roku Amazon less some of. Of. These other companies resolved some of the issues. It does show that there's going to be some major problems with how the services are accepting. The outside larger services has competition for some of their own stuff that they're doing so definitely something to keep an eye on. Yeah, I mean I was reading that article and I was thinking. I was like man this. This is really good content discussing maxed up as well as we've discussed the feud between each relax and Roku Amazon so I felt that that was, it was pretty interesting just to see that. This is becoming more of a larger problem like it's not just you know Rukuni on our picking fights with individual companies seem that there's really an impasse between the. Think about the distributors as content producers on sometimes like it's, it's a little bit of both, but when think of the streaming spaces the distributors, and then also the content producers, it's that that divide seems to grow even more, but I feel like CBS Alexis in. US whatever their future names going to be, they might have a better time. Maybe these other companies just because the CBS Alexis. Out there, in already on these properties, and it has you know the both ad supported and the ad free models in those apps already, so it's it's. They've the base onto work of obviously, it's GonNa. Be In terms of like Game Theory I. Guess It makes sense that both sides WanNa read negotiate. The deal is when the time comes, but at least they have a framework of what works what doesn't work in a in a in. In a model for the future is in Hbo Max doesn't have a a roadmap for the future of our. You know work with selling subscriptions and ads and stuff like that so overall. It was very formative. Add in I. Highly recommend that people check out the show notes and read because it was very informative. Yes, all right so then jumping over to some niche streaming services ESPN plus they have announced that they're going to be increasing their. Their service to five ninety nine, starting in August, DC universe subscribers have been offered.

"That's definitely worth mentioning. Because that is a huge opportunity on their part but then again they don't really feel like they're marketing a whole lot to begin with right now at hp Max even though they should be I mean given you know these other providers during this covert nineteen situation trying to offer more free content and more publicity. Hey get on our platform or this day new trials stuff like that you know. Hbo The content of they're giving it yet isn't a game of thrones. But it's it's you know. Sopranos Wire Bolers like these are big time show. These are big names in the. Hbo Library that they get a lot of traction. And I barely read this article as passing through tech website and Bailey. Saw this on my word and is that can draw a lot of customers a lot of eyeballs to your platform in it. It is a bad opportunity that they didn't weren't able to really set up. You know email addresses or some other type of content way to contact These viewers after the free trial. Kinda goes away in to really push. Hbo Max so it is. I think a wasted opportunity for this situation in general for nearly promoting. Hbo Max so this really is just the lack of marketing. I it is. I think it's a bad business decision personally. So all right and then Not necessarily speaking of bed bid business but at least despite the fact that we haven't seen a whole lot of marketing for HBO Maxon General. There is a couple of new studies that have released that. Say that out of the recently or launching in the near future Peacock Qube. Hbo Max the Vast Majority of people are saying they are much more likely to look at Hbo Max. As an addition to their streaming services that they have the only demographic that actually said that they were more interested in. Qube was the younger demographic of eighteen to thirty four. Which of course were queries. Actually who quit? He is actually geared towards however peacock. There's not a whole lot of people that seem to be very interested in a lot of people don't understand what they'll have as we said last episode the fact that they don't have the Olympics which was a huge selling point or a lot of the Olympic coverage. I should say not just the Olympics because obviously there would still be Olympic coverage on the broadcast stations and the cable stations but the extra coverage that would be on the streaming service a peacock. They won't be able to have that so that is hurting them. Because there's not a lot of people who are looking at peacock is even an option that you'd want to add. Then there was another article that popped up over Forbes that said out of the streaming services that are out there right now the ones that are gaining the most search results based off of content that they have or people who are interested in getting the services. Disney plus leads the pack. Hbo Is Actually Second and then Netflix is actually a distant third and I think that has more like honestly I think that's a little skewed in in my opinion because they believed that the netflix being disinterred a skewed. Because I think people know what's on Netflix. Searching for it and these are specifically's results based off of who is searching for things. Like who is I know? Four the services you search. How do I sign up for Disney plus or you search Disney plus? You're probably more likely to do that if you haven't signed up so I think those are the services they'll probably have the bigger boosts inscription counts. But let's be honest. Netflix already has a huge hold on the American market. As a whole to begin with so both studies were interesting but it puts. Hbo At a unique spot. Where despite the fact that they're not doing a great job in my opinion marketing. Hbo Max which is maybe less than two months away. They have people who are extremely interested in the potential of what it could be agreed. I think this is good for HBO. And the fact of the most searched about one of the most searched about platforms in. They've done next to new marketing. They're they're writing off the popularity of the HBO brain so good for them. I think these stories are actually the highlight something. That's really important in that with Kobe. Nineteen people more. People are staying home where people have opportunities to watch content during the day. Because the can't work can go to work or the work from home and they're gonNa have something on the side screen and where the couldn't do that normal work because you know one of their bosses might walk by you know a lot of different situations but it seems that more people are watching more content. Which is good for. I think the the whole entire streaming worse you know. A rising tide lifts all boats and to me these studies show that streaming is isn't f. Added isn't what people just do right now. Because it's cool I think people are choosing streaming services as legitimate contenders to cable in that. They're moving truly moving away from from cable. Because you would think that during this time people would camps ticket home. I need to watch content so a Kato have cable something to go. Pay For the cable guy to come down and whoever the situation's going to fold but that doesn't really seem the case this seems like streaming as gun uptick in for me. I think these. Hbo Numbers Israel. Max numbers are a little bit misleading. Because I think people also want to watch just. Hbo In general. So how watch HBO on set top box or anything through the Internet. Not Cable not the normal way and in. So you're getting a lot of. I think also results Rachel Max because they WANNA watch. Hbo ON THEIR THEIR LAPTOPS. So I think that's where you're also getting some of those numbers but overall to me. This is reassuring that streaming is going to be. The future makes sense why? Hbo Max is going to be hired terms of popularity the peacock just because peacocks. Original Library is lacking and people were going to search for peacock. I think honestly it's going to be a lot for you to the office parks and REC or the Olympics or as an HBO. Max You got. Hbo's Entire Library Plus Other They're coming out with so all right and the other. Hbo News Max It is is not specifically related to each other than part of the parent company so warmer media has announced that they they they have announced the new CEO for the company. How the CEO as we've seen and as we've talked about was John Stinky who's also the C O over at. At and T. Who's also rumored to eventually take over the CEO position at and T and a couple of years when that CEO steps down but in the meantime he has been the acting. Ceo over at were media. And that's why he's been the face of HBO Max while they've been hyping up each wheel Max and he was the person who was being interviewed back in October when they did the rollout of Hbo Maximal the details. As I have said I am not a big fan of the fact that John Stinky was the person who is front and Center for this platform mostly. Because I don't feel like he's the type of person who should be you know trying to pitch a streaming service or anything related to media generally doesn't come across as the type of person who does very well when he's asked the hard hitting questions. Let's be honest. I don't think anybody walked away from the HBO. Max Event without the quote of it would be stupid not to subscribe to HBO. Max because it's like a litmus test of whether or not you're smarter not if you're going to stick with each peo- or go to HBO. Max which has the same content plus much more that was the that was the quote that stuck out on a lot of different articles because that was what he said. That was probably not the best way to go about doing that but anyway he is going to be going back to stain the CEO of at and T. and the New Warner Media C. E. O. Is actually an ex. Ceo of Hulu and Hulu actually whose founding CEO Jason Killer and he will be taking over the role effective may first that is actually a surprise to some people because the idea was that there was a lot of people within Warner media that there were there were some people that the expected to potentially step up but they went from they went outside of the company and they brought him in and honestly. I think this is a good move. He is younger. He's dealt with streaming. He was one of the people at who who was starting out. That said that at times needed to be much less. They need to have more flow. He was one of the people who thought that binging. Tv was a good thing. I think that it makes sense. Not that stinky is against any of this stuff that I just mentioned but I think that putting a different face that doesn't feel just like a corporate suit which no offence to stinky. That's what I see when I look at Stinky is somebody who needs to be more in line with the future of media and not somebody who's involved in running a telecom companies so I think that this is a great move he had a couple of different interviews or posted the one that we have in the show notes has talking about a variety of different topics when they bring up the top of HBO. Max He basically said that what they've been doing it's been great. They've made some great decisions and he's just going to let everything go as is for the time being because he thinks that everything that they've been doing is great so he's just going to be there to support them and I guess he'll be the person who answers you know for whether or not it's successful or not down the line. But that is the new. Ceo of Warner media which oversees all Television Warner Brothers movie production side of things HBO. That's that's basically the person who is over all of all the media content that's that. At and T. has any part of. I will concur that this is a great idea getting somebody who has built two different video streaming services. He's CEO FORM CEO of Hulu. And he was the CO founder and CEO of streaming service steam vessel in. Since he's done this twice he has just a wall industry knowledge. I remember time win. Hulu tertre back in two thousand seven watching it and I was just like. Oh this is really cool service. It's interesting like the able to watch not shows you know a few days later than when they came on the air and those were the quality kind of where the first yet like net flicks was kind of starting. But I really like the idea of what was on cable is now on the Internet and I don't have to go through their through some sheedy website to like you know illegally stream it and so it is good that they have a leader. Who's done it twice and so I I'm very happy. I can't say enough about this higher. I think it's one of the few hires. Recently that have seen that makes a lot of sense that I'm really an image or and I think this is good for Warner media for. Hbo Mags just for everyone involved. I think it's also good for. At that he really seems that they're getting somebody knows understands business and they want to. They want to do it. Seems like they wanNA make it work. It's not just like eighteen to join squeeze all the money out of the situation. It really feels like. Hey we want each real max to be top notch. Wanted to succeed. Want somebody. Who's done it? They've gotten that person and so I. I can't be more happy notes. Podcast can't see my face but I'm extremely happy enthused about this higher and it gives me more confidence in the warning media in nature. Amax I I think that for launch and for the first few months I think he is going to be a big cheerleader helpings. Go through but I think his focus is okay. We launched the platform. We have excellent subscribers. One let's keep them in to. Let's build it and so I think he's really involved going to be very important in face to face three of okay. This is not just a niche thing anymore. That people are just testing all Beta testing. We wanted to grow grow grow. And so I think that's where his expertise is really gonNA come at apply is phases two and three of HBO. Max and I think because he was formerly at Hulu. I think that's also a big deal because who has worked with ads before an HBO as a brand has not he brings it expertise of having a streaming service said from the very beginning had ads intertwined.

"To get on the band's J. Selanne bars on the CBS NFL today the end of the line center to edges on the Mahdi to wax up tonight at eight on Jason what's going on Scotty Hey so I saw your article today about JZ and and about eight be it about C. it's kind of go through this all right so what was your feeling about what JZ pulled off with Roger Goodell and the backlash that he got frankly from doing it right and that and then there was the word that he might like by a piece of the Steelers or something you're saying that's happening what we like I don't know what the end game is official you know his allegiance with the NFL and I hope it is for the betterment of society and so for justice and form of a lot of our government statutes where you had these mandatory minimum sentencing that doesn't make much sense when it comes to whether this is actually a violent crime or you know someone who just happen to have a little bit of contraband in their pocket and so I'm I'm I'm rooting for all of this but like in terms of what it means Scotty for NFL ownership purposes and and who's in control and who has a minimum share and who has a controlling share it has nothing to do with any of that I mean there there are no stipulations in this deal whatsoever from everybody I've talked to in terms of what JZ can get in terms of his hands on a franchise in his hands on a piece of a franchise or a little little sliver of a franchise it's just it's just not a part of this this is about he and the NFL addressing the multitude of issues in our country that deal with social injustice and that deal with the criminal justice reform and that's that but he's not going to own an NFL team because of this so what did you think of the the backlash that he got from people like a lot read all these people Cabernet again a lot of people turned on him well I you mean I don't know about a lot of I mean now like I I can't sit here and say that like I I've monster the situation that I and I know where like the average American stands on this issue in terms of calling Capper make in their greed they obviously had issues with how JZ is handle himself how is presented himself how he has presented this deal and what this deal actually amounts to at it to America and I don't think they're backing off and they feel slighted and they feel like they have been sort of I'm done or undermined by what JZ has agreed to with the NFL what that means she's me what that means for the average football fan or what that means for you know the average hip hop fan or or what that means for anybody that's difficult to say because like at this point right everybody is bringing their own sort of mental purview into this situation right everybody has their own feelings everybody has their own political allegiances everybody has their own sort of internal sense of what's right and what's wrong their own morality and I mean I I can't sit here and say that I can speak for America right because you can't be for America because nobody can speak for America because America is so sort of splintered and and and is so all over the place when it comes to the average political issue much less these issues in football that bleed over into politics and and so I mean you know everybody got to make their own determination when they put their head down the end of the night about who they support who they don't support and where their politics why and I've got news for you you can't separate every single thing that was on a football field from every single thing that happens at the ballot box because they are kind of inter twined these days a lot of more with this evening that brown has any leg to stand on in this sacking grievance not much now I mean the reality there Scotty is he's gonna find a new helmet that he's kind of taken a shine to and that he feels like is a okay before we ever even find out the results of this sacking grievance and that's really like you that's the end game right we want him to feel comfortable wearing head gear that doesn't feel too heavy that doesn't feel too cumbersome that doesn't cut off his peripheral vision and there it's not like the only have three or five or nine helmets at their of their all right they have like thirty six different alma design set up all been approved and so you just have to find one that kinda you know meshes with you and you jive with it and eight jobs at you so to me this has always been much ado about nothing like when you brown is ending his hall of fame career because like the helmet doesn't feel right now I'm just going to take my ball and go home I mean it's crazy talk but there's a lot of people in the media who would like to sell you crazy talk all the time because it's good for the ratings and it's good for their Twitter collection is good for everything else but like sometimes common sense kinda sorta prevails and common sense was always going to prevail in this instance so Zeca you saying you're saying you feel the deal be done so he's ready to go against the giants we go on yes I do Emily snaps they given how many reps they given you know how Jerry in Stephen Jones and all that I'm not going to tell you that I know that but I do believe that that deal is signed sealed delivered it's done it's consummated I Wednesday or Thursday of the week leading into a week once the what about Melvin Gordon situation now yeah I think that one gets done to maybe he sits out a week or two but it won't be much more than that and they'll be okay without him in the short term and if he does even set out a little while I don't think it would be much more than a little while because it's diminishing returns for him in terms of his leverage in terms of his clout you know in terms of his ability to flex his muscles and sort of make the franchise quiver at next match is not really where it's at especially with running backs in this league right now so that's another one where we can obsess about you know this or that and I'm going to worry about we wonder week two weeks straight I really feel like Melvin Gordon is playing for the Chargers at some point in September so John Harbaugh said that everybody all the haters gonna be proven wrong on Lamar jacks and then they're gonna be eating their words you're down in the time city do you believe that he'll turn into a rock star quarterback I we already know you can run the ball like a wizard but about throwing it is the question do you think that John are about as writer and that people are right about him that he can't throw it I don't know if they're going to reinvent the wheel when the term when you know when it comes to offense and the ability to throw the ball downfield like I don't know that they're going to set everybody on their year and and just be doing all this like they they're talking about having this you know offense of a lifetime intergenerational off and said you know nobody was able to keep up I don't know about all that Lamar Jax is going to be a winning quarterback he already is a winning quarterback and he's going to be highly successful and he is going to develop and I believe our rapid rate and he's going to blow away anything he did a year ago and my concerns with the ravens and I think the rivers are playoff team of my concerns with the ravens are much more about their pass rush that it is about anything involving their skill position players on offense starting with mark Jackson last question I have for you Jason sorry about that is about a man he's a situation in Chicago with this kicking problem just a a bunch of hot air is is a real problem and the expectations are ratchet up probably way more than they should be and they won more games last year than they probably should of what they did and I think he's got a quarterback problems I think he's got a kicking problem I think he's got expectations problem and I think he's got a Vic Fangio no longer in the building problem and I think the bears or the absolute poster boys for regression in the NFL twenty nineteen wow listen that Jay's and lock in for a drop in it like I mean just drop kick in the bears I love it Jason killers "Who was quoted in an article this week saying you know if you keep stimulating the economy when it stabilizing because maybe china's economy stabilising you could cause inflation and for china the big risk there is operatives prices because they've had that episode of property prices moving up but i think carol what's really interesting right now is we also saw the dovish turn by central banks everybody wants to ease nobody's going to hike rates fed stops hiking rates you give everybody else a chance to not worry about their currency and stop hiking rates and maybe think about cutting them and so maybe that's also what people are wondering we're we're out paused for stabilized now but what if things go next so i want to bring in philippi hernandez are latin america communist bloomberg economics what headline that caught our attention was about the trump team exploring border closing options with mexico and said to be threatening said to be studying we've already seen avocado price For saying now's the time now is a stock pickers market because we had the meltdown in December. So now, we can really figure out what's going on and correlations in the stock market. Have come down not everything is moving together. But marchers very much a different environment than the first two months of the year, especially after the fed turn even more. So at the end of it, you saw high growth companies, especially tech, the best performing sector, you saw real estate up there and real estate just tends to be one of the most unloved areas at least right now by active managers tech to Bank of America actually, had some beta heading into March showing that active managers had cut their exposure to tech to the lowest amount in three years. So that's not really defensive right? So they were turning a little bit more defensive and the problem was that where they were turning offensive was healthcare and healthcare has been lagging all year long. It was laugh Sears best. But it's been lagging all your long, and it was the third worst again in March. Take a look if you look at the major industry groups in the P, right? Sarah Healthcare's at the bottom of the pack five point six percent isn't up, but you take a look at information technology of twenty two percent industrials are up eighteen percent. Consumer discretionary up more than seventeen percent. That's what's leading this way. And you also look at the divergence that we saw just in March because a lot of the big game here they were tempered in March. However, we still saw very large divergences so tech in March was up about four point eight percent. However, you look at industrials which is also one of the most loved areas by active managers. It was down more than one point two percent. So you can also look at it this way. Goldman Sachs has these custom basket they makes the really interesting and one holds the most loved stocks and one holds the most unloved stocks. Well, what you can see here is the pain is really coming from what they didn't own because the basket of the most unless stocks was up three percent in March while the most loved ones didn't see much of anything, you know, the other. Thing. I find interesting about the timing of this story is especially this week. Sarah is this idea that you have black rock doing this massive reorganize to essentially say, look, you know, passive not doing so, well, we need to be more active manager. I know that this is this is a blip. But the timing is is sort of funny, given how much they continue could continue to make on the passive side right now. You're right. The timing is funny because at least from a product standpoint feels like the passive industry is just so overdone. Now, there is something for everything. So if you can add value in the of space where many of these managers do and BlackRock being one of them coming out this week with the shuffle. They're saying that they can do more there. The problem is that if you keep seeing underperformance Jeffries data shows that this would be the twelfth straight year of underperformance, then one does that narrative actually shift back to the idea that active managers are going to be there when you need them. And this was their time to. Shine because after December. There was a sense that people were going back to buying individual stocks ATF's. But seems like they blew it. Well, we've talked so much about this. Big macro forces specially quantitative easing. That really has changed the environment for what I love though, is we've talked so much about factor investing and focusing on different factors, and what one individual in your story talks about I think over it ever core or I'm not sure if it's from ever core trying to record yet. But says you should really look at the macro story. The yield curve and does big macro story. Right. Well, so Dennis to Bashar over at ever core. What he was saying was that right now, especially if you're a factor style investor you have to be paying attention to the macro because right now, you are seeing oil prices, you are seeing the yield curve really way and have an affect on each of these different styles. Whether it is growth value momentum at cetera and another interesting point he made was that everything put together in March. It's a great story. It's among our most red Jason killer. It is definitely trending high on the charts. Europeans..
