"Michael Gallop was called for offensive pass interference, which would have won the Cowboys thegame. And that negated a big play This time around. It was Gabe Davis, the rookie wide receiver out of UCF, who they said it was defensive past interference. Where Davis and the defender we're pretty much Both locked up on one another. I didn't C p I didn't think it should have been called it Wass, and it's set up this touchdown to Tyler Kroft to get the bills. The victory. Josh, waiting now, the snap. Just gonna throw it looks look spires into the end zone He's got Tyler propped open Touchdown, Touchdown. Buffalo Touchdown fills up for yard toss Ya jam in the timer crop. For the touchdown. There's a million calls in the game. And, um, you know, it's unfortunate that one like that can go make it essentially. They don't call it the game's over. But, um, there's calls that went our way that game, and there's calls that went with that game, and unfortunately, it was the end of the game like that, But, um The elated voice was John Murphy, the Bills Radio Network. The somber voice was the Rams quarterback in Jared Goff. Terrible, terrible call. I guess if you're the Rand's the only way you accepted as you got something that worked in your favor and weak one, and then a week three, it did not go your way. But the officials in both cases have to be better. I think this one was worse. Then the one in week one just brutal, brutal, brutal job by the zebras and the bills get a victor. But if you're Bill's fan you don't care about the Rams want to throw the rest through the table like Bill's Mafia does If you're Bill's you're celebrating you three know how about that is the Bills look to win their first division. Title name. See, since 1995 and I can't wait for that November 1st matchup with Cam's Pat's up against Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills. Next up, We.

"Let them play. Let them play. We watched the players but we understand that there are certain obvious things that you just can't allow. Because rules are rules and we get all of that. But when something is going on and it's even is fifty fifty, it's me against you with the game on the line and the official is the one that makes the call to saved date and it's so highly questionable I think that qualifies as robbery and that's what I think was transpiring here. Robbery is what it was. John. Outright robbery he's right. But I don't think you know I had that as a loss I thought Buffalo's going to be a really good team and by the way they were down twenty eight to three. How did they come back Mace and well, they did come back yeah. They held on it would have been tied for the third greatest comeback in nfl his that's crazy. That's crazy now and they came and by the way Jarod, Goff looks like a completely different guy this is twenty eighteen jared goff in the. One thing that I love whereas last year todd. Gurley had a hard time generating yardage as the feature back this year they've got multiple guys who've been able to do it Darryl Henderson Guy who emerged this week with camakers hurt and Malcolm Brown banged up a little bit. But I mean, they've got three real backs in a stable this year and I think that's okay. I. Think we've moved to the era of specialty back as opposed to bell cow back. I don't think we're going to see as many of those as we used to. John. Well and I don't think we'll ever get the true story of what Todd Gurley was last year. You remember those Weird Games where they didn't play him at all you or would he he begged off of it was just a weird dynamic and he's not exactly setting the world on fire with the Falcons the Falcons keep blowing these Leo. It's unbelievable that somebody's somebody's gotta pay for that. Well I think there's going to be coaching changes in several places. Adam gays the coach of the jets is in real trouble Matt. Patricia had the chargers pulled off that Hook and ladder would have been in deep trouble really dead. Yeah and now I hope that Anthony Lynn's not in trouble because the chargers of started one and two because I really like Anthony Lynn I like Anthony Lynn to. He's the one thing I like about the charge but that's a bad loss to lose to Carolina at Home Carolina's in a rebuild they have a brand new coach so. I think that there's going to be even though Warren covert and things are uncertain I think there's going to be a short leash on a lot of these coaches. The giants have a brand new coach. So you would think they won't fire him during the season, but he looks like you may not be cut this. Joe. Judge looks like he may not be cut out. Yeah and Adam Gaze just looks like it's not gonNA work. No, it's definitely not going to work and SAM darnold looks unfortunately Way In. Over his head right now in over a set and have you turned on Tampa Bay yet? You know they they. They'RE GONNA win that division. New Orleans July didn't realize drew brees was going to be district breese. Happen. Drew brees. New Orleans defense is in any good. Yeah. But I mean drew brees is not the guy that he was right? I mean he appears I kept saying. This is Max thing the Tom Brady's GonNa GonNa meet the cliff. Yeah. It looks like drew. Brees may have got their first. I coming up next for we shouldn't let people on. We've just we've just won the western going to the finals John, we're going to the finals Sweden taking any phone calls what's wrong with you? All right open the phones eight, seven, seven everyone knows how you feel about phone calls loved the callers. So the fact that your allowing phone calls must mean that this is a huge catastrophic event that the Lakers are back to the finals. Eight, seven seven, seven, ten, ESPN eight, seven, seven, seven, ten, three, seven, seven, six. Lakers in six maybe seven mason is calling in another cakewalks. Okay. Where's my cake Lakers in five? Ireland. Respect the cake. You need to respect Jimmy Butler? Mason Ireland seven ten ESPN by the way. One of the big stories of the day shocking story. There's fired as clippers head coach. Wow. And raising and Aidan were Naski reporting the two leading candidates to replace doc tyler. Lou Who is an assistant under doc? Who I said was going to get the job or Jeff Van Gundy oh. Now. Marc Spears reporting the Pelicans and seventy sixers have already reached out to doc rivers about their head coach. So If doc wants to keep coaching. He'll be back in the saddle before to what happens to they still pay him the ten, million, two years, two years at ten million. Yeah I. I definitely can see that was our ruined he was both the coach and the G. M. I don't know if they asked him to take a pay cut when they took GM away from him. But if he took another job, they would immediately reduce the clippers are payout. So let's say the new places paying six million then clippers are only owned four. I'd sit on the beach that sounds like a good deal twenty million dollars over two years. Sounds like a very happy retirement and a job in the media. Friend of mine who is a diehard Lakers fan just texted me I'm totally bummed out. Dot got canned. He was a key factor in the clippers. Mediocrity. Rivers as a media darling every interviewers dream. But in XS and.

"This is the biggest issue right now. The biggest issue is the Eagles don't trust their quarterback. And guess what? They're not wrong not to trust their quarterback. Why would they How could you watch the first three games this season? Like if if you just dropped in from outer space, and you don't know nothing about the Eagles. Or anything about pro football. And I said You watch the Eagles watch their quarterback. What do you think? I mean, you called Europeans. They get this guy out of there. Who is he? Where With this guy come from, And we know he has a track record. We know he's not this bad. He has never been this bad. You know, for three games in a row in his career. But that's what he is right now. And I don't blame Doug Peterson not frustrated Doug Peterson for punting the football. I'm frustrated that they can't beat the Bangles in regulation. That the quarterback can't complete passes five yards away from him. That the quarterback five years in has lost all the trust of his head coach. That's where I'm frustrated with. Carson wants his play because that's I mean, my goodness, That's it's torpedoing this season. I don't think the Eagles are very good. And hurt marks recently. You know, I think I said something effect of even of course, was playing while they couldn't be an elite team, and I agree with icon that this team is never good. But they could be other bad teams. They could have a relevant record. They could be probably in first place. The NFC is considering what's going on the division right now they could have two wins. If they got average quarterback place over average. They probably two in one They haven't Carson's been outplayed by Dwayne Haskins set ahead Jared Goff head to head and that one is at least you know that. I think those two on a similar pars at least their careers have been so far. You get that happens. Joe Burrow outplayed Carson Wentz yesterday. That's the frustration right now. For me, it's It's not Doug Peterson, deciding a punt deciding a kick deciding. Ah, you know, go for it on 4th 12 that's small potatoes. That's not the reason Eagles tied yesterday. Yes, Doug chose To, you know, go for the tie in that moment, but the Eagles didn't tied the Bengals yesterday because of Doug Peterson's decision. The Eagles tied the Bengals because they're getting bottom of the NFL quarterback play, That's it. That's it. There's like if you drip away, the Eagles could not beat the Bengals yesterday. There's very few ways you could actually thought it would happen, and that's the way what happened. The quarterback once again just can't perform his job to 1559 to 94 94. Let's talk about it. We we have an hour here well less now before Sinai football, but money on football between the Ravens and the chief's. Let's talk about this. Where's your frustration? Lie right now. Everyone's frustrated. You have to be frustrated. They couldn't beat the Bengals yesterday, but we're used to a Neagle's team. For years Now, that is not only relevant, but but always in the conversation of a contender, Mitt Maybe they're a little below greatness. But they're they're They're kind of there at least. And you feel like if they put it together, Things could happen here. And three weeks into the season. They have zero wins on the board, and we can't just have all the NFC says bad. Everything will be fine, but we can't We can't do that. They gotta win a football game, and they either quarterback to wake up Because I'm not exaggerating here. Like all those conversations about Isay elite, is he top 10 Min Let's just like stop. They need. Carson wants to be average right now. If Carson Wentz is average, we will have a football season in Philadelphia. He's not average right now. He's not even below average. This is bad Quarterback play bad. I don't know. I don't know what's going on. I don't know why he's turned from pretty good. Too bad, but that's the problem. And then it got to do what a punt decision in the overtime. Goodness gracious Tucker. Where's your frustration Right now? I mean, those things aren't mutually exclusive, right? Like you can be upset like There's no way you could defend how Carson went this plate. What has your mom or frustrated? I mean, more frustrate the more Frustrated thing. Long term is Carson wants Doug Peterson all of a sudden deciding not to go for it, not not till win against a team that hasn't won on the road in two years. That's frustrating, but That's a blip right like that's the first time we've ever seen, Doug become super conservative. What hat and I think The reason is, he doesn't trust the sky anymore, But I even met you mentioned earlier. Let's say they have a 5% chance of converting that fourth down right there at 5% chance of completing 15 yard out route and getting a feel good near one of 18 on those plays less serious about 5%, Okay? 5% is a whole lot higher than 0%. When you basically tell the team you know, I'm a player's coach. I got your back, but Today's just not her dad. Look, I I agree with you, but you know what That means. I don't think Doug's a dumb man. It means he he thought the percentage that whence would take a sack or something bad would happen in the play was even with that. That's so bad. Yeah, it's just it's And I asked Joni Mac this last week. Is there any quarterback in the NFL that you would take Carson Wentz over right now? Is. I don't.

"Against the better than average saints defense joy with news. Word on the news. This is the headline news. Yes. What fallen what? He does on. Actually. Nervous. Done. What a great MBA? It's got the stories for sure. So, beat the Celtics One, twenty, five, thirteen in game six last night to win the east and will battle the Lakers for the NBA title team I, Young Team Yup Yup and Pat Riley versus Lebron. SPOELSTRA. Is Miami's first trip the final since two, thousand, fourteen. But Jimmy Butler spoke about how great it feels a winning with this particular. That's what this comes down to one being appreciate. What you bring to the table. As I've said time and time again as folk costume says. Everybody I'm not for everybody but all here I am. Group of guys that we have. We're for one another. Okay constant compete for one another. It's Really an incredible story for Jimmy, Butler. I mean he's literally changed his entire brand. Yep He's gone from difficult can't get along to anybody to what a great leader. Six months how we were discussing him how how he was viewed around me? It was a malcontent. Couldn't get along with anybody and put it with a good organization and good structure, and now it's like Oh my God he's helping all these kids out. He's the centerpiece of the organization. Amazing. What stability can do we forget the NBA and the NFL? These are kids they're like twenty two years old at thirty one. Kid. Also the the. The structure in Miami particularly with PAT? Riley. The idea of Miami's like everything's fun and loose and Margaritas at three pm but the heat that's not that's not how they do things Pat Riley is a very no nonsense individual. He runs things a certain type of way he wants things done a certain type of way and you have to have a certain type of grit to function in that organization and often you're looked at villains as part of the reason. Why. It didn't work out with with Lebron long-term in Miami. So a lot of very difficult standards they are not the Lebron didn't live up to it. Obviously, he's amazing job there, but it's it's not for everybody long-term, and this is a situation that Jimmy is thriving in Miami, has the third lowest seed to see the team to really NBA finals since Nineteen eighty-four and this is the first finals matchup between two teams who missed the playoffs the previous season. If the first time ever. Make It I. Mean you to go to the finals. Now, go from not making the playoffs to making it to the Eastern Conference and Western Conference finals or making some noise in the playoffs is different but to go from not making the playoffs before to the finals. Well I could say. The Lakers have the best leader as a player in the League? and they heat between Riley spoelstra certainly have one of the best leadership duos in the front office in the League in the bubble. What is mattered more than anything? Leadership. So you've got this Riley Spoelstra and then Lebron and you know I mean a lot of teams dovetail in this like didn't want I heard a story. Over the weekend that that. Somebody that works here. That's got a good source. He said by the end of it, the the clippers struggled in the bubble wanting to be in the mobile it was a constant topic. Well, yeah I, think I think Chris bussard mentioned it last week also. Clippers because they didn't want to go into the bubble to begin with. It when they were in it right? I. Mean. Yeah. You had to completely mentally by in I mean look the Broncos and Brandon's family there. He's talked about how hard that's been on him. This is going to be it's going to be a fun finals definitely looking forward to it and you know not to throw shade or anything but pretty remarkable that after losing Lebron James in two thousand, fourteen, Pat Riley has been able to completely retool organization. Yeah. No Chris Bosh Node Wayne Wade and six years later is back in the NBA Finals Without Lebron James Cleveland. That's much. So the rams battled back from a twenty five point deficit against the bills yesterday but did not complete the comeback. When a buffalo fourth-down down with seconds remaining in the game, the rams were called for pass interference giving Josh Allen, a new set of downs crazy. The bills ended up scoring to win thirty, five, thirty two and after the Game Rams Safety John. Johnson. Jared Goff and Sean mcvay all talked about that call. Wrong. I want. Out. There's a million calls in the game and. that. Can Go make it essentially you. They, don't call over I. Hate it for our guys that it ended up the way that it did and came down to some of the things that it came down to. But we're tough through were mentally talk group. We're GONNA use this as an opportunity to respond. Oh unlike the saints they didn't. Blame everything else on everybody else in the end it was a bad call. But as Jared Goff, said, you can't boil a game down to a call fell behind twenty eight to three it was. It was absolutely a bad call bills. Fans don't want to hear that. But so what you win the game so who cares? It's Sometimes that's how it goes. Yeah. Bad earlier in the game. Yeah. Back hauls late in the game you know what? I like the rams though joy last year when they struggled, they would bail on the run. The rams kept running the football they didn't panic and they slowly but surely got back into the game. It was like a really impressive loss like, okay. We're over our skis here. Yeah. You can either quit like the giants did or the jets or you can say, all right let's just be patient. Won The football, get the chaos out and they talk at halftime. What they did, they're well coached organization and that's how it goes. Sometimes, no one's boiling it down to that play. That's not about first of all, you shouldn't be down that much anyway for it to come down to that to begin with. But yeah, it was it was a bad call and you're right. The differences are not going to derail their sees move on those play the raiders next week in the rams pay play the giant so they'll get right back on track. Finally the Patriots put over four, what four hundred yards of offense for the second straight game yesterday. But this week it was rex burkhead carrying the load. Three touchdowns Patriots thirty six twenty win over the raiders they showed all their running Sony Michelle, they had a rookie kid Taylor. I mean they they showcase running backs all day. Whoa Cam Newton said he's happy that New England has a bunch of different ways to win. You WanNa put the. Fits knowing that. You know we have so many different ways to. Beat you. And A plethora of different types of schemes and I think that's been our biggest edge for the most part just having. That ability to attack the teams in many different ways to still be successful. He's right because he didn't have a spectacular game yesterday, seventeen, twenty, eight, hundred and sixty, two yards and one touchdown and one interception. It nine carries for twenty seven yards but this is good spread it around doesn't always have to be on Cambay didn't look anything like that. In the previous week even some of their personnel they made a decision. We're going to give the ball to running backs, and by the way, that's it's pretty smart because this is not. A dynamic offense. So why put Edman after that game in which he had like one, hundred, sixty yards this is what they do. They draft guys, they bury them for a year or two they'll be game Sony Michelle won't even be on the traveling roster. But yesterday you could tell very early ball control. We're.

"jared goff" Discussed on Bleeding Green Nation

"It's an absolute Dr, it puts the tweenies is it it's dropped he was pressured on nine passing attempts. From my Charton, five of non on those for EPA of zero point one three that's not too bad when you're pressured I mean yes. There are things that they can clean up. There were some mistakes but that throat a radar that Dart hightower that's pretty good stuff to and you're taking out the with those pressured numbers right from the pack, right? Yeah. Yeah there are. A couple that they got there within less than two point, five seconds. So I mean I think I think the reason that I'm so worried mark there's multiple things to clean up. There's Carson Wentz, his inaccuracy, some decision making I think the stuff were him quote unquote holding onto the ball too long gets cleaned up or doesn't look as drastic as it does if the Offensive Line comes on it. They get lane Johnson back to get more stability if they get used to each other long that offensive line, you know if we get something a little bit better at Jason. Peters. against. Chase Young, which is a tough draw for for the old guy. But then also just the offensive scheme like the offensive think taken Philadelphia took the whole. Off Season and say, and were saying all these these these nice things about what they were going to be, and I understand their limitations as far as rolling your quarterback out against to chase young against a disciplined defender like like a Ryan Kerrigan and whatnot. But at some point win, your best option is to put him under center is back to a rush that is. Absolutely. One hundred percent coming from him and then expect him to get his is round fine to target with guys. Rightness face I don't understand and Doug this answer at oppressor they talked about it on BG on radio. But saying that we were bad on first down so we couldn't roll him out on second down, roll him out on first down baby like there was. Only one designed rollout in this game went fantastic on the move and I really think they didn't help him out there. So offensive line off its scheme Carson Wentz all three bad all three. Deserve some blame. That's why I'm worried. I wish it was just one thing you know right? It's not just one thing and you know that that answer from Peterson I thought was. Deserved a bit of an Iro what he did they the whole man splitting thing on the front and going you know I wish I could sit down and show you the film a Blob. We're not idiots man you can. You can. You can talk to us, Doug, come on. Yeah I mean yeah. It was a bit of a ridiculous response and I think the thought that they had didn't have success on first down so they couldn't do it on second out. Why didn't you have this in the game plan right I mean anybody can look at our lads dot com and see that they have five former first round picks up front and mad I is and you might think you know what? We might want to very to launch point a little bit right by design. Yeah. Not even not even a rollout because they do this with McVeigh I wanted shorted McVeigh's drawbacks with Jared Goff it's not all rollouts what you get him to different points in the pocket at different depths. Right sometimes it's just a half roll off of play action s at if your chase Yang and you're aiming spot is eight yards behind the centered suddenly you get there and he's not there by design that's going to put something in the back of your mind now you're thinking I can't just beat my Guy In front of me I have to figure out with quarterbacks. Go to be I mean look think back to the first Kansas City chiefs, Super Bowl Len Dawson back in super bowl four. One of the things they didn't game to negate the pass rush they were facing was the moving pocket. They moved Len Dawson around I. Mean this isn't new. This isn't some revolutionary thought dates back to the dawn of the Super Bowl era. If you've got a quarterback that you think is GonNa get pressured by the guys on the other side you change the launch point by design it doesn't have. To be drastic we're not talking about sprint right option all the time just a half wagle just a little something to get him to a different point. So the defensive line has different aim spot and they have to just what they're doing, and that's GONNA make everybody's job easier, which is your job as a coach. I'M GONNA. Shut up now because my heart's beating on much. So what I'm going to do is I'm going to chart the launch points for once in this game a mature at the launch points for once in the second week and we're going to see if there's any Difference from this coaching staff in letting the Bronco Buck getting him on the move and like like mark said, you can move the pop a little bit. You could do a half roll doesn't have to be so drastic but Carson Wentz is so good on the move I don't see how they don't want to get him comfortable in those situations. All right. When we come back here on the QB factory, we're going to talk about the upcoming enemy opponent we already kind of talked about him a little bit but jared Goff Sean McVeigh will.

Ryan Seacrest Checks In With Jared Goffs Roomie Patrick During Quarantine

"All right. You know. The football season has begun. And we want to talk with our Rams quarterback. Jared Goff but he is busy. So we figured we talked to his roommate. Who's wearing his Jag cap right now looking pretty cool coming to us live from the. Patrick. Jared. Where they live together and they've been together for months and months of Corentin Patrick who also works in the Sales Department of Iheartradio Good Morning how you been Patrick I've been well and this you guys. been working from home for the company Yeah, I've been home since. March thirteen whenever we all left the office then president and how has it been quarantining with Jared Goff? It's been good It's definitely been a long time each. Stage has been a little bit different but we made the most of it. Yeah and when you say the most of it, what did you do to kill time? I'd say like a beginning we're doing like we leave the house this puzzle anything we can find around like or games VR anything we hanafin. To. Do. You play muscles. Puzzles I'd so cute. Dalmatian. Dog Puzzles or. One woman wants a dog. One of them was like a city like skyline talk. About everything now. They have like mini golf in the backyard to do. We have many like whole par-three Kinda hold. That's like downhills on hard knocks. Pretty so that kept US occupied hard knocks. Got Into I didn't realize they add new episodes every week I watched like in a row and say, oh, that's it. And this this year was a little bit different because there was no preseason game. So they didn't get into a lot of that stuff, but I thought was pretty good. So Patrick Conroy, Giorgos roommate, how is our quarterback feeling about? No rehearsals before the great on they did some scrimmages within within their team at so stadium which looks amazing by the way I don't know if you guys gotta channel my Gosh I can't believe we can't go to it. You know. That's painful. But it's still it's still going to be a great season without fans will still good on TV that's for sure and Patrick I understand jared Goff's on a new diet. Yes he started a new diet just kind of. Get himself feeling better looking better So I think that this should be good for the coming season on my refrigerator I put my inspiration and I've got pictures of David Beckham and I've got others up there. You know my fashion inspiration, my physique inspiration on ever get there but I liked the visual does he have a on your refrigerator? Does he have Tom Brady or somebody up on the? Pretty clean on the outside. But? No I think definitely what what he's done with his body has been great and off season. So be ready to go nobody would know it better than his roommate. What has he done with his body and it's off season. Now, here's here's. Like that? No no no. No you don't explain yourself. You do look cooler since you've been spending more time at home. Doesn't he? He's got an a Totally. Swag. In out right. Swag too when you knew us, what are those footballs in the background those footballs yeah. Those rolled his This is like their the office in his name balls from his office. Are you in his career? Where are you? This is the office we all like switch off doing zoom calls. Oh, you. Throughout here I got tour. Drawers in the bedside tapers yeah. Yeah. Laptop takes around the house we got. We got some serious. This is what's great about jared and his roommate Patrick. They're doing good things for people and I was reading here jared recently donated a million backpacks to the Inglewood School district and in March donated two, hundred, fifty, thousand dollars to the Regional Food Bank dealt families deal with the pandemic. Yes. So he's he's done a lot of that stuff. You also relaunched brand which last year on my brought in a couple of teachers but it was just the logo before, and now he got the team that kind of made a couple more clothing options for everybody more like a rather than just a logo So he's donating all his arrays, all the procedure going to the Unified Inglewood unified, school district that has of the brand merch items. Yeah that's awesome. Senior. J. G. for Jared Goff but then it looks like the number. Sixteen. Doesn't have like. A little bit of colored as to differentiate the sixteen or JD in the sixteen. NFC West: Who will unseat the 49ers?

"So glad to be joined by Candace Silva of the rams wire as we go around the NFC west try to figure out who's going to unseat the forty Niners if they can be unseeded at the top of the division cam covers the the rams the rams who apparently are the hot bat right now to win the Superbowl at thirty to one what the hell's going on their camp yeah apparently they were the most popular Super Bowl bet of the last I think there's some were the bachelor come in anywhere on the rams won the Superbowl which is surprising because they've done nothing in the past okay two months to really bolster their claim as a Super Bowl contender in it's been a rough offseason for them so they got a bounce back in to see them as a Super Bowl favorite or not people will favor but to see so many people jumping on the bandwagon for them to win the Superbowl surprising I mean obviously they were just in the Super Bowl now might about a decade ago by our current time frame standards but it was two seasons ago and they still have the same quarterback they still have the same head coach where has it gone wrong we know what happened last year it in fact but if if people are buying in why would you say don't hi this is biggest issue right now I was really surprised that they essentially ignored the the office of identity try to remake it or bring in much talent really on the opposite line this offseason they refinance or what works best it brought back Austin blight who could play guard and center I'm so really they're sticking with the same group that they had last year there's a lot of competition really the only position that sat on the opposite wanted at left tackle with what danger what work right but the other four spots where they're gonna be competitions with Bobby Evans and rob Stein at right tackle Austin Blake and Bryan Alexander in the guard position is kind of just a mishmash of players who are relatively unproven at the NFL level so I would say that's the biggest issue switching Todd Gurley out for can makers they hope is going to be an upgrade at least hopefully in the in the explosiveness department because we do the regular Todd Gurley last season and he kind of seems like he's past his prime with the old me injury in right usage so they hope that with the improved often combined with these guys developing the younger guys and then a a better run game they're going to hopefully get back to their roots from the twenty seventeen twenty seventeen to twenty eighteen season that also supplying plan doesn't seem like a very good one considering that they're in a division with the forty Niners who I don't think I'm being a Homer here by saying that they have a pretty darn good defense of line like that that might not be a good match up for them yeah that's one of the best defensive line principality and you're gonna have it you're gonna have such a us a big mismatch every time that these teams square off because the defense of life for forty third San Francisco so good you got Nick Bosa all the guys on the interior Erik Armstead so there's gonna be tough match ups all across the front when these teams square off twice a year and you're not gonna want to right now in blocking these guys or Bobby Evans are often blight it's it's gonna be a tough match up for all these guys what's M. brings us to the cornerback what what went down with Jared Goff I mean I don't know what it was it all just smoke and mirrors in that Super Bowl season was he figured out I mean there there's been plenty of arguments I've seen a lot of smart people say listen as soon as Matt Patricia showed how to basically not bite on the play action it was game over for the rams they still made the Super Bowl but last year was not great is there any realistic expectation around the rams that they can make it jump now with you know maybe acres and there is the full time running back yeah I I wouldn't say your golf was just smoke and mirrors in twenty eighteen I thought he was a legitimate MVP candidates for most that season and then they kind of have that by the crazy Monday Night Football game against the chiefs and ever since then he's just more grass than not been the same player it was it was he was really terrible on play action last season which was a surprise but again that goes back to the office of line you just didn't have time to to get to a second read he didn't have time to to turn his back to the defense on these armies clashing passes so that a big impact but he's a player who I know they gave them a hundred thirty four million dollars but at this point in his career he doesn't seem like someone who's going to really master the issues of the rest of the offense it's not can overcome terrible off in one place so for him in the rams to really bounce back it's going to take an improvement on the offensive line golf getting back to how he was playing in twenty eighteen and then that running game coming alive and that seems like a lot of that on because it's it's everything coming together as a cohesive unit but I mean with the talent that they do have they still look really good receivers with concocting Robert wood acres and Henderson at running back our promising and golf if he if he lives up to his contracting really pleased the way the FHS quarterback showed the ram should bounce back nicely I like Henderson he came out of Memphis right yep yep he he really was under utilized last year yeah they were kind of well I wouldn't say stubborn sticking with elderly but he just didn't get many opportunities but when he did when he did get some chances he showed his show computer production yeah if you could once against the forty Niners last season to worry bounced off a few tackles and I mean he he's a smaller guy he runs hard and he he he also I'm interested to see how they utilize them with Cammy Kerr's

What should Los Angeles Rams fans expect next season?

"Not exactly be easy for the rams to rebuild the rams took a very very interesting approach they went all in we didn't criticize him for thought thanks a lot of them okay good you think you got to the right team go up because by itself we don't guys I did absolutely I got a lot of that I thought it was great it's great if you win it's not good if you don't and you have a real absence of assets to try to bridge the gap of the rebuild which they obviously don't based on all the trades they made so what it in totality here if you want to incorporate with Jared Goff said about his contract may be willingness to rework that restructure who they've lost where they are it's a good division what should rams fans expect next season provided there is a season well I mean it's it's yeah I think a lot of this is about expectation and you know what what can they have you know actually do with the talent that they have on this on this roster and really is Jared Goff good enough I look I don't know if they're asking Jared Goff to restructure his contract if they're saying let me a kid we overpaid you could even though a lot of people think that all of their actually saying those type of things and have a look given the the growth of this the potential growth I should say nowadays because of the you know that the upcoming maybe stoppage the growth of the salary cap year over year it's it's not that big of a deal dear das contracts is this the way it's structured I think the bigger issue for the rams BT is do they have talent

Could Brandin Cooks be traded for fourth time in six-year career?

"Brandon cooks had a tweet that just said Freeman yes that was on Friday and when you read that there's two things that come to mind one is okay he's talking about the corona virus in Africa wants to just go back to living their normal life and not trapped inside their house order the sportsman and I says free may he's upset with the Los Angeles rams and he wants a trade out of LA you look at the contract the branding cooks he's under contract through the twenty twenty three season has a cap hit of sixteen sixteen seventeen and seventeen million dollars across the board the dead cap this year for Brandin cooks is twenty nine point eight million and then following that in the next three years thirteen eighteen and three million of the number is an approximation he's still twenty six years old and at one time was viewed as a very promising up and coming wide receiver and I still think you can have a good career you know you look at what he was able to do from early on in his saints career shoot the twenty eighteen season with the rams you go through the stats twenty fourteen fifty three receptions five hundred and fifty yards three touchdowns twenty fifteen eighty four receptions over eleven hundred yards nine touchdowns that had that monster monster twenty sixteen where he catches almost eighty football's goes for one thousand one hundred seventy three yards and then a touch it's really had to back to back killer seasons with eighty four you know the two months years in twenty fifteen twenty sixteen and twenty seventeen he gets dealt the patriots and he goes sixty five receptions just over a thousand yards seven touchdowns how to touch down early on against the Texans was a big moment he had I'm in the playoffs he got knocked out in the Superbowl Malcolm Jenkins sent the matter game and the patriots after one year that one can get a contract extension so they traded to the rams and they ended up getting a first round pick back again for something to get a first round pick back for him so he goes to the rams twenty eighteen eighty receptions twelve hundred yards five touchdowns good year and last year only forty two receptions five hundred eighty three yards and two touchdowns so this is that was an off year for Brandin cooks now he only played in fourteen games but you know still it was an off year so you start to wonder is Brandon cooks going to get traded because of just the situation the ram Charan it is got rid of Todd Gurley defensively they say they're already locked up Barron Donald you're gonna have to sign Jaylen Ramsey to a long term extension you would think you also have money tied up in a lot of money tied up clearly to Jared Goff I don't think it's a great quarterback but he's getting paid as if he's a great quarterback and you saw that offense who this past year yes the the rams were a different team but you look at their wide receiving options do you really need Brandin cooks that office when you have Cooper Kupp having a very good season last year catching almost a hundred footballs and going over eleven hundred yards yeah Robert woods last year not the thousand you know thousand yard season caught ninety footballs so can you survive without Brandin cooks and get something back to help your football team what what's first do this what you will get the contracts Robert woods and Cooper Kupp Robert woods is a free agent at the end of the twenty twenty one season so for the next two years you're a robber was that a good number base salary this upcoming year it's five million in twenty twenty one at seven point five million capita they point one and a cap of nine point one so that's a good number and then when you get to Cooper Kupp can you take a look at his contract situation with the with the rams that's a contract situation where Cooper Kupp let's see where his deal is that he's a free agent at the end of the season so he is on a two million dollars and change contract so if you are the branches anything you have Robert woods who's twenty seven right now maybe he gets it probably does get another contract with that team and then you have Cooper Kupp who's twenty six read the codes are still very young yeah he's twenty six as well what do you do if you're gonna pay if you intend to pay Cup and also woods are you gonna put a lot of big money with three wide receivers so I think there's a good chance the Brandin cooks does get traded or the ram say you know what we believe are more like the football team two years ago not the team last year so we're gonna keep what we have and we're going to run it back brandy cooks for someone who's so talented and someone that has done a very nice job in his career so far what we've seen him go from playing with drew Brees and Sean Payton then go flying with Brady and Bella Jack and now playing with golf and the bay well those are not the key pad stops you get to all BAME coaches and to all fame quarterbacks golf one of seeing what he's going to be able to do in Sean McVay's is greatly respected around the league so the branding cooks tweet Hey C. Cooper cops jump on it and and clarify he's talking about the quarantine hi it's it's just amazing and it never surprised anymore on social media where if that were his intentions you never know but if those are his intentions how people now I think he could be traded but when you think about it with what they may need to do in the future or Cooper Kupp and Robert woods at the Brandon cooks experiment in the in the rams you know you could say could be short lived with your canoeing on that was really short lived he could be on the move once

Atlanta Falcons add Todd Gurley to roster a day after Los Angeles Rams released him

"Breaking news the Los Angeles rams have released running back Todd Gurley came out of college you know there were people who were worried about longevity because of issues around spend weeks exploring a trade for him now Gurley will be free to sign with any team you have to wait long Todd Gurley is signing with the falcons Todd Gurley obstacle form forty played college football at Georgia it's a one year deal for the twenty five year old running back sure that once a Todd Gurley Julio Jones on the same offense Ian AT T. L. not the box and not would Brady instead he goes back to the peach state as a former Georgia bulldog headed to the Atlanta Falcons one day after being released by the rams it's a one year six million dollar agreement but Adam Schefter reminds us that will still pull in plenty of coin from the rams not only did Todd Gurley want to go back there but they had a need girly goes back to Georgia the falcons fill the gap that they created when they released abbante Freeman in a salary cap casualty earlier this offseason so girly goes back to Georgia the falcons get their man keep in mind that the rams are paying him seven and a half million dollars this season on that one year deal and whatever else the falcons add on is just icing on the cake for Todd Gurley Gurley is run for more than a thousand yards in three of his five seasons with the rams he ran for a career low though eight fifty seven just this past year feel the aid style on Golovkin away going how he fits with his new team so I look at their depth chart right now and the death star get laughed after the release of the pontiff Freeman is relatively fan not ito Smith and Brian hill and you know it's in quad copter Allison who are sort of debt level running backs and taught happens to be from Atlanta which are happy to be out there in Georgia I should not be played at the university of Georgia also it is not that your home coming the only thing that matters in football but there are a lot of boxes that Todd Gurley checked by going back to the falcons are going to the father died today but I'm not surprised by this move all right with the girly now gone from the rams the onus is now on to other people Todd Gurley was expendable Todd Gurley was someplace to save money Brandon cooks might be as well with Cooper Kupp and Robert what's on that roster do you need to be paying Brandin cooks the Los Angeles rams are moving in this second phase of their title contention will it work we'll find out the truth is now the pressure ships from GM les Snead the coach Sean McVay now the pressure ships to the quarterback they put at the center of this new face this center of his new rebuild Jared Goff can the rams continue to be a Super Bowl contender the answer lies and how much you believe in Jared Goff Jared Goff and

Bengals at the Combine in Indianapolis, taking a closer look at Joe Burrow

"With us here from Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis where we will be all week so much going on. I'm waiting next with Adam. Schefter Louis Riddick Todd mcshay and Mike Tannenbaum just to catch you up right now. Here's what's happening today in Indianapolis. It will be a very busy week. At Five o'clock eastern though owners are expected to meet players to talk about the new CBA which could expand the playoffs and move to a seventeen game regular season. We've got forty seven. Nfl head coaches and GMT. We'll be talking today. You're also hear from SEC. Standouts Joe Borough and to a ton of Aloha who also addressed the media earlier today. Jonesboro put on an absolute show as you know on route to a national championship for Lsu setting an FBI. Single season record with sixty touchdown passes and Ditto. While completing a whopping seventy six percents of his passes and not only that but bro won the heisman trophy in dominant fashion receiving a record ninety point seven percent of the first place votes here. Our previous comments from Joe Borough on February seventeenth during a reception. For the Davey. O'brien award. He had this to say I do have leveraged the Bengals have their process and I have my process. We haven't even gotten to the combine yet. There's a lot of things that happened. Leading up to the draft. A lot of information gathered bras. Mother Robin shot down the idea. Her son does not want to play for the bengals. Saying we have no idea where that came from. It's a story out there that has created that doesn't have any substance at least from our perspective here Hasbro earlier today here at the combine. Of course I want to be the first pick. That's that's every kid's dream you know I've worked really really hard for this opportunity and I'm blessed to be in this position. I'm a ball player. Whoever picks me on my go show up? How play whoever for forever dressing? You know. I'm just not going to be presumptuous. About what they WANNA DO I. It's the draft. You guys have been covered it for a long time and you never know what's going to happen so we played a month longer than everyone else and everyone else's been training a month longer than us you know. I wanted to put. I don't I didn't think I'd be able to put my best foot forward here at the combine so I wanted to wait till pro day had another whole month of training and just be the best that I could be when everyone when. Everyone's eyes are on me. You know coming in. If you're the number one pick the teen is picking number one. Is there for a reason? So you're going to have to come in. There's going to be ups and downs and you've got to stay steady through the process. Our research tells us about Joe. Borough is his own man. He's not going to be talked into saying things for other people's benefits so if that's what he said. That's that's fantastic. I'm looking forward to getting to know him getting to meet him through. The process haven't been able to sit down with them yet. But we've got that on the horizon. We'll talk more about Joe. Boroughs plans to hold off throwing here at the combine. But might I'll start with you in terms of do you want? Do you not want to play for the being. You have any issues at all with where we landed at least at this point. No I mean as I said last week Joe Borough at the end he does not have leverage. The bengals have the first pick in the draft. If they want to draft. Joe Joe Borough. That's where he's GonNa go now with that. Said I think it's incumbent upon sack Taylor in the Bengal organization to create the Right Environment. Where he could come in and they could build something sustainable and truly transformative so. I think where we wended. Wendy is appropriate last week. He could've handled that better but to Joe Boroughs credit. I think they tweak things I think they're in a good spot now. He's been well-coached past week. Tower doesn't it. Yeah and Adema to your Do All your contacts. It appears that borough likely young he's projected pick. I still think that's where the bengals ultimately go. And they're sitting there and that's about this a team that needs somebody to revitalize that franchise and they are expected to look to trade Andy Dalton at some point this off season and so when you're sitting there in division with Lamar Jackson there in Baltimore think that they know that they have to get somebody in there. That's going to put some points on the Board Baker Mayfield Cleveland and this is going to be the pick for the Cincinnati bengals. Even Joe was considering trying to exercise some kind of leverage really the only leverage you have is withhold your services and not playing not report even if he was thinking along those lines. Let's say he's doing a deep dive trying to figure out exactly. Just what the Cincinnati offer as far as developing me as a quarterback. Could you blame him? Could you really blame him for wanting to dig? Deep on exactly what? What does the future going to look like during over the course of my rookie contract with this football team would exactly? What exactly is Mike Brown's commitment to go ahead and building out this roster around me because we all know a lot of what's going to happen to him has nothing to do with him and has everything to do with everything that's going to be around him. Just look at the past three or four drafts. And how certain players have benefited from going to certain to certain teams? Just look at l a look at the difference between jar rookie year in his second year. Sean mcvay came in. It flipped his rookie year. People were saying Jared Goff to Canada. All of a sudden his second year is like. Oh wait a minute. Maybe he's not so bad you couldn't blame him. If that was a thought Lewis to that point I also think an opportunity. If you're Zach Taylor to say hey what's happened in the past. It's irrelevant we're going to myself with you and we're going to build something great and we can't worry about what's happened before we have a lot of work to do. But if I'm the bengals if I have a hey coach Taylor. That's worked with quarterbacks. Like you mentioned Jared Goff Joe Boroughs Billy and character. That's a great opportunity for the bengals. Sino three things one. Is that if something were to go on with. The bengals is not going to happen in public and this has been addressed in the past week if it's going to happen behind the scenes so whatever we hear from this point on. Don't even don't even look at it. Don't think about it because it has nothing to do with with what is going on behind the scenes. The second thing is this guy's different cab he beats. It goes a Beatles drummer. He doesn't care what anyone else has done. In the past what everyone else is GonNa do in the future? He's going to do what's best for Joe Borough but the third thing I know about him is he's a football guy he's his. His brothers played linebacker at safety at Nebraska. His Dad's a almost four decades coach in football. He's a football guy at its core. He's from Ohio. Obviously I think when it's all said and done he winds up going in Cincinnati if he's number one overall pick but again. If it's GonNa Happen it's GonNa Happen. Not In the media. It's GonNa happen behind the scenes again. Joe Bro not expected to throw on Thursday. He said he just wasn't ready yet. Not a huge deal. Sam Darnold Kyla Murray. The last two years have opted not to throw here at the combine as well. What did make headlines on Sunday? Oddly enough pros hand measurements the measurable quarterbacks took place on Sunday on the smaller side. Love listen here's what he said after it was suggested his aunt size was small considering retirement after. I was informed that we slipping out of my tiny hands. Please keep me in your thoughts while he's got good company because here's what Super Bowl fifty four. Mvp Patrick Mahomes had to say who had just slightly larger hands than did borough my small Andrew doing great so far all right he should say believe in yet. Here's borough earlier today addressing his hands. Yeah I mean these measurements you can. You can take so much from them if it's a glaring issue on film with turnovers. Yeah it's probably an issue but I didn't have a lot of fumbles or anything like that so I just tried to make a little joke out of it I think it's a non factor I don't get paid to talk about. Measurements and analyze. The measurements like played to play football. So that's what I'm GONNA do. I look we're not gonNA make too much of this question. Well yet about what? They actually do what they're actually measuring here so worry not. We've got a ruler. We've got Louis at. I mean really what you're really trying to do is just trying to measure the expense of someone and they put it down on the ground and you actually hear about guys actually doing hand exercises to stretch their hand as wide as possible although when you're grabbing a football you're actually going to measure from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the Pinky here and this is hard because this is a hard rule and you can't really get good accurate measuring you look tired type by just under nine right. Look I'll give you a non center's Oh that's attention and would have actually done something with my. I mean what's interesting when you watch the tape of Joe Borough? There are situations where people come from behind strip him when he's trying to move up in the pocket and run. I mean that's going to happen if you have nine if you have ten inches so I mean it's not a glaring obvious problem as far as him on the football field and that's why I think it's really. It's just going to be something that will hopefully wind up forgetting about certain the biggest thing is and you know this with all of these drills you know as well. Mike you go back to the tape and you're trying to find something after the fact that says okay. Now I'm going to look specifically at these things so you're gonNA look cold weather rain and then ball security and Joe Boroughs as good as any college quarterback you're ever going to see in the pocket in terms of two hands on the ball and protecting the ball. I saw him in two thousand eighteen the last weekend. In September against Ole Miss. You can go back and watch the tape. My suit was soaking wet when I did the open of that game. It was pouring rain driving rain in anyone who says it doesn't rain in Baton Rouge on a Saturday night is lying to you. Because it poured and he completed seventy two percent of his throws with three touchdowns and zero interceptions in that game. So you go back to the tape and you try to look at these things and what the tape tells you is. He's just fine. You know I had a theory here. I have an interesting experience with hand size so I was forced out in two thousand eight. We were we trade for Brett Farve and just as a fan of sport. I can't wait to go out to the first practice and watch Brett farve throw. There's nothing physically imposing about breath and he goes out there and he's throwing Abe I've ever seen and I ask them like what is the value. Where's this philosophy comes from it? He said you know what Mike I have long fingers and I actually couple of football the way a lot of people throw a softball. I could actually be over the top and that's where I get all my philosophy from just watching my practice. It was unbelievable to watch though. I know as Lewis show. There's a tradition of how we measure hands but finger. Length is actually an underrated aspect of playing quarterback so far so far small hands but long fingers and you know what my pinky and all the time strong throwing football pictures of the five. It's easily the least important finger in the hand and I can't remember it ever being a big factor. It's all there in the grip. The pinky to me doesn't matter. It's archaic. How we're measuring the quarterback's hand span now with that. Said there's thirty four quarterbacks in the last fourteen years who have been drafted that have had hands of nine inches and smaller and really only two of them had any sort of Sustained Success Ryan. Tannehill is one of them and Jared. Goff is the other. That's it so there are thirty two out of thirty four. Who have failed. But are we going to say that he's going to the Joe Boroughs? Not GonNa have success because his hands tells me that the reason for their failure wasn't because they were nine inches weight.

The Myth of Quarterback Hand Size

The Myth of Quarterback Hand Size

"So let's talk some measurements. That's what went down today. The consensus number one overall pick Joe. Pearls hand sized came in at nine inches. Listen to this. The last quarterback that man that small drafted first overall was jared. Goff BACK IN TWO THOUSAND SIXTEEN GUYS. So that's some comparison it's annual. Nfl tradition every year were introduced to the incoming class of rookie quarterbacks. And we're told that a single measurement matters hand size but what if the metric is totally meaningless as the NFL combine unfolds in Indianapolis we investigate the connection between big hands and big production and ask whether Scouts are chasing a myth. I mean it's Tuesday February twenty fifth this is espn daily presented by ADT. Dave I was very self-conscious reading this piece because I don't know if you know this about me but I have tiny tiny hands. I have gigantic cans. Do you See come on tiny baby hands. Dave Flemming is a senior writer for. Espn his report on the NFL's obsession with quarterback hand size publishes ESPN DOT com today. So Dave yesterday was a big day for the quarterback prospects at this year's combine the annual release of the hand size measurements and the annual freak out about said measurements. Well I mean. It's like a national scouting holiday when the the QB hand size measurements. Come out because there is the belief that the distance between a potential NFL quarterbacks tip of his pinky and the tip of his thumb directly correlates to their success in the NFL. That's why we care just to give people sort of a framework here. What what is the big hand? And what is this small hand in football world red flags and NFL SCOUTING? Go up if your hand is smaller than nine and a half inches. But the guys who are said to have hands the size of Catcher's Mitts are. That's generally anything above ten inches. The normal size of adult humans hand is like eight and a half inches eight eight eight point seven five inches right now. Everyone is listening to this. Podcast is looking at their hands if they're under STEERING WHEEL WONDERING DO. I have two small hands. I've never thought about it until this very moment. Well Yeah and I think that is also part of it right that it's a myth or a theory or a legend that are virility is directly connected to the size of our hands that basically goes back to the beginning of time so in that sense. It seems logical that that we care about. How big a quarterback's hands are. What is the origin of the belief in the NFL world? That big hands equals good quarterback as far as I could tell were really took off with with Brett farve scouts and just people in general trying to quantify any way they could why this guy who was sort of a washout in Atlanta would go to the freezing cold and ice elements inside Lambeau field and become a three time. Mvp I mean. I think that's just human nature and scouting in general right that it's like whoa something weird like this happens. We want to be able to quantify it honestly. I think the there were some packers personnel. Who sort of wanted to claim credit for basically knowing in advance that he would be great because of his hand size and then what happens is human nature takes over right and people are like well. That's that's gotta be true. Look at Brett Farr for Lou peyton manning or look at Russell Wilson drew brees. I mean their hands are huge. So therefore air go right. All good quarterbacks have to have big hands breezing. Wilson are interesting examples. Because those were quarterbacks who were not universally seen as being sure things? Yeah in cases like that especially with Russell Wilson. You've got a really influential scouting and personnel department in Seattle right. That is sort of the envy of the rest of the League. And what happens is they. They can't decide. They're worried about picking him so high mainly because of his height and then one of the things that pushes him over the edge in their minds is the fact that he's got huge hands. I think the bigger the hands the easier it is to grip the football and let it rip so for me this this pointer finger right near the tip of the football and let spent basically he should be like seven foot seven if you go proportionately of for how big his hands are so the seahawks based on this data get pushed over the edge. They're like okay. We're GonNa Take Russell Wilson and then retrospectively. It's like Oh look at that. How genius that was that. We went by his hand size. And then that sort of proliferates the myth through all these other kind of envious scouting department's and the same thing for debris. I mean he's a short guy but he's got huge hands data on S. U. Y. When did you as a reporter? Who's been covering football for a long time? I start to doubt the correlation between hand size and being good quarterback I was at years ago at Jamarcus Russell's pro day at at Lsu and it was not good and as he finished up his workout. I walked out with a GM and a coach that I respected and I was like what did you guys think. That was very good and they both were like. Yeah but did you see his hands? They were huge. I think the coach even said it's like he's got an extra knuckle and I was like what that doesn't make any sense right. He could barely connect with his wide receivers on these on routes where there was no defense and they walked out of there going. Yeah but his hands are so huge. He's a can't miss prospect and ever since then really it was kind of like we need to look into this because it doesn't make any sense there have been exhaustive studies including one we did at ESPN. That went back over the last ten graphs and compared quarterback hand size to fumble rate per game and then Qbr overall there is zero correlation between the size of a quarterback's hand and their performance in the NFL. Zero correlation if anything it was in reverse the GUYS WITH QUOTE UNQUOTE SMALLER. Hands fumbled at the same rate and had a higher qbr than quarterbacks with bigger hands. It's like I don't understand. It takes two seconds to look this up to see if there's any correlation and what happens is you look at the data and you go. Well what's going on it's laughable coaches say? Oh hand size is more important than how Tala quarterback is I've read quote unquote draft experts. Who are saying you know in some situations. The size of a quarterback's hand is more important than his arm strength. What and Yes yes. It's never ending. You make a really important point story beyond questioning you know. The connection hand size measurements themselves are not very reliable. This the more you look into this it just gets sillier and Sillier and the fact that between the senior bowl and the combine and then pro day workouts on college campuses. There's no universally accepted way to measure a hand so you could go to the combine and where there's a ruler tape to a desktop and you have to put your hand down and they measure the distance between your thumb and your pinky and that's your hand size and three weeks later at your pro day. They might ask you to just hold your hand up in the air and they would spread a tape measure between your pinky and your psalm. And and that's your hand size one. You can lean into and spread your hands out on a desk. The only thing wrong with the theory of quarterback hand size is that it's fundamentally flawed on every single level if grip strength is more important. Sounds like you think it is. Why don't teams measure that? I honestly that's the million dollar question right. I think that they think that. There's a correlation between size and strength of a grip that's like measuring a kickers foot size to try and predict how long his field goals will be. I think that they think they're measuring for hand strength. And they're not they're measuring hand size and those are two completely different things. There's an entire cottage industry in the draft process of preparing these quarterbacks for you know the combine drills the interviews. Is there any preparation they can do? I can't believe I'm asking a question to make. Their hands seem larger. Yes absolutely there are players because they have no choice. That will hire your hand. Masseuses to loosen up the connective tissue in their hand just so that they can get that measurement over nine inches and sort of. Check that box off Brandon Allen. Who's now a backup in? Denver is a perfect example of that right. He went into the senior bowl. Didn't even realize hand measurement was a thing and just sorta held his hand up and they were like oh eight and a half inches. And everyone's like Oh my God his career's over and so between the senior bowl and the combine the masseuse that he was already working with spend a little extra time massaging his hand and then when he got to the combine he really concentrated on the measurement spread his hand out as far as he could and I think he got just under nine inches and again like the talk of the combine. Was this guy's magical hand masseuse. And he told me right that other quarterbacks with tiny hands we're blowing up his phone asking him what his secret was and and could they get the number of his masseuse coming up. 49ers finish off their home slate in 2019 with an NFC West divisional matchup against the Rams

"We'll get things going then. In the Saturday night slot words the forty niners playing host to the rams. You're looking at the forty niners. A six and a half point favorite in this contest. Test total at forty five at Fox numbers tick tick trickle take down. Whatever the hell you want to say for forty six and a half on the open we know? The Rams playoff hopes are on life support. Pain the forty niners need to win to keep pace with the seahawks in their quest for a division title obviously they would like to win out and try and secure that number one overall seed read. This is actually going to be the largest underdog the rams have been stalled in football. Game with Sean mcvay. As their head coach they even rested starters late in the year season ago. And we're in catching six and a half but when you look at the rams performance against the Dallas cowboys all that optimism that enthusiasm that energy that the rams have found that two thousand eighteen swagger the goes out the window but the forty niners on the other side they need to bounce back after they were upset as a double digit favored by the Atlanta Falcons. It wasn't the best of matchups for the rams last week. And you know you look here in. It's it's not the best match up in this game either. It's week sixteen right like we've talked about these teams over and over. It can sound a little repetitive. But I think if you're looking at Jared Goff you're looking at mcvay you're looking at girl in this rams offense. The biggest thing is the ability to negate pressure right inevitably when it gets to Goff. How is he going to handle it? These are the things that matter most on this side of the ball and you go back to that week. Six matchup in golf just GONNA do anything. Sacked four times pressured. Twenty two did not handle that very well. One point seven yards per pass attempt zero explosive passes had a twenty nine percent passing success rate. That was with all three receivers healthy to back then so there wasn't any issues In being shorthanded. Now there's this lingering thumb issue golf hit his thumb on a helmet last week. He claims it's just Peruzzi. He claims just feels a little stiff. And he's GonNa be one hundred percent fine. Let's say golf is fine. Think about this match up a little bit you know you have a rams is team that passes at sixty two percent of the time. It's it's top ten in the league. They probably are going to pass it a little bit more here. Just Game Theory. Wise is being a nearly seven point dog as you alluded to the motion. The mcvay era but the point is of the rams are going to be passed now facing this forty niners defense and and we talk about this all the time. Top foreign pressure rate bottom foreign bullets rate. The secondary isn't left very vulnerable here and why they have the second most efficient pass defense all assigns at least so far unless Thursday hiccup at practice today that Richard Sherman Williams. They're going to be good to go Saturday. They were full participants. Since at Wednesday's practice that's a great sign. If this were two thousand seventeen I think or even early last year the solutions pretty simple right like just turn around. Hand it off to girly. Make the forty niners defend run. Make their pass rushers respect run make them think about this run game before they can just like go after Goff like a pack of wild animals if girly I can get going here. He didn't play in the first game if he can show flashes if he can be his former sell for sixty minute sample. I think that likely determines who covers this game taught right because the forty niners are the most vulnerable against the run. It's it's nitpicking picking but if you look the four defense twenty third in rushing success rate twenty second explosive run defense whether it's earlier Brown right. Those guys are GONNA have to be efficient enough off for the niners to respect the ground game. And if not I I don't think we can project GOV like going out and having a field day against an elite pass rushing elite secondary knowing passes coming all game.

"Role and this comment to me. Concerns me that he's ready to onto the NFL. Now when the rams gave Jared Goff one hundred thirty four million dollar extension this off season with a record one hundred hundred ten million guaranteed it left some scratching their heads including my partner over here. Well with the rams now at six and five and on the verge of missing the playoffs smile partner is starting to look. Read this Martin Nick even if golfing even golf himself knows there has been plenty of factors that have led to his struggles. There's a multitude of reasons I think games have been dictated certain ways and and then there's been throws that I've missed and there's been even guys you know that we've we've we've done some bad thing. It's it's million things. I think I don't really try not to look at the numbers because I know that's misleading and and there's games games where you know. Look back on this year where where. I didn't feel very good after my numbers were good. And there's games I look back that that my numbers were not good and I felt I felt good about how I played and so I try not to let that dictate how I feel but you know I don't know if I can nail down one thing for you. I think there's a bunch of things he now that I'm quite a couple couple right there but nick. How much has goths big contracts set back the rams? Here's the devastating for the Los Angeles Rams the defending NFC Z.. Champions this contract hasn't set him back at all yet. This contract doesn't really kick in as far as on the CAP until next year and and this team's not very good this year. It's not all jared Goff's fault less than we talk about golf. We talk about girlie. We talk about McVeigh less need the GM good looking young GM taking Los Angeles by storm. He's the one who decided in the midst of a three game losing streak to trade for Jalen Ramsey Z.. To do continue to push even further all in on the season. He's the one that decided with two years. Left on Jared Goff's contracts got a pain right now gotta get ahead of the Dak Prescott money. We already are behind the Carson. Wentz money got. You didn't have to do that. They paid girly early when they didn't have to. But in fairness I supported that. I don't think anyone new is going to have an arthritic knee. They decided they instead of falling with the Patriots. Did which is trade for Brandin cooks. Get a year out of them. Cheap and then trade the more they traded for them and then gave him a rich new contract. You had to pay Donald. There's no problem with that but the golf contract is going to be the anchor that draws them to mediocrity party with no picks to get away from it. The single biggest cap hit in football next year. Chris for the thirty second rated quarterback in football next year. It's it's devastating and it's not even hitting them yet it won't hit them until twenty twenty. Yeah Look I can't disagree with the things you say between Aaron Donald Jalen Dylan Ramsey brandin cooks tiger early and golf. That'll take one hundred and nine million dollars on the cap all right so they five percent of the cat right. I mean they are the doesn't look bright going forward however I am not all off of Jared Goff. I know he's been bad this year but they're reasons one. The offensive line has has not been what it was in the past two todd Gurley demise. I mean I always thought Gurley was the engine that made that team team go. Obviously it was a great running back. He was great in the passing game. But he'd set up the play action. And that's what McVeigh's offense thrived on with Jared Goff now I'm I'm looking at Sean mcvay. Because this is your team and I don't think golf while he's not worth the money he got. I do think he's a quarterback you can win with Sean McVeigh. They was undressed by bill. Belichick in the Super Bowl now. Everybody's taking a page from that book and his offense. Isn't that innovative in successful anymore. It's up up to McVeigh. Just like when he went in there Jeff Fisher and he created something that may golf special. He's gotTa do it again. So now I wanNA see is mcvay. They really the golden boy and if he is I think this team you get the offensive line together. I think they can still be a team that makes the playoffs in the future. Here and there they may not win the Super Bowl but I don't think they fall completely off the map in our Hor- here's what kills them. They you look at their division next year. Okay you have have Seattle. WHO's never bet? You Have San Francisco. Who is built to last if they just get average quarterback play an Arizona? If you believe in Cuyler Murray they are only. We're going to get better. They have the very real possibility of having the highest paid quarterback in football. Who is the worst quarterback in his own division and you mentioned McVeigh Golf's first twenty seven games with McVeigh? They're twenty one and six fifty five touchdowns and thirteen picks since since then there are eleven and eight. He has eighteen touchdowns and twenty eight interceptions. And it is. I don't begrudge anyone for making money ever for everyone make as much money as they possibly can but in a hard cap sport the money matters enormous amounts on baseball. We're just how much your owner wants. It's the pay and show the rams offense and disaster yourself. Are they getting value. That's the capital next highest in the NFL for golf is thirty. Second radio passer. Gurley highest among all running back series twentieth and rushing yards cooks fights among wide receivers next year. He's sixty I in receiving yards and because they pushed even further in with Jalen Ramsey. Jenna they don't have picks the it's not just that first round picks her infusions of talent they are cost controlled they are they are cheap sheep talent for five years. If you don't pay them early now girly then golf. Their last two first round picks they paid early so there were only cheap for three years. I just don't see a way to get from here to there for the Los Angeles from two out of the three people. You showed in their cooks and girly are both with concussions and one with that knee or both riddled with injuries. You don't even we know what you're going to get moving forward with them. Jalen Ramsey trade grades: Rams complete cornerback overhaul

"The rams have made a nother monster trade and this time they've traded for the best player available on the trade market Jalen Ramsey generally considered the best cover corner in the NFL extremely unhappy in Jacksonville it has been asking for a trade for weeks yeah is on his way to the ramps it is being reported by multiple sources now including Adam Schefter that the rams are acquiring jalen Ramsey for two first round picks a first round pick in twenty twenty a first round pick in twenty twenty one and a fourth round pick in twenty twenty one three total draft picks including two number ones all right king of the Ramle what he is saying I I'm so as soon as I traded Marcus Peters I thought are you initially said wait a minute keep Ta- Leib Injured Reserve yesterday Marsha I have no corner they have no corners could this be Jalen Ramsey and you're right yes it is Jalen Ramsey this is what I love about less need and Kevin often the ramps are constantly pushing their chips to the middle of the table you know three and three did not look good after that loss to San Francisco major upgrade to the defense ager upgraded the defense and by the way they also added a pretty good linebacker and Kenny foster and they added an offensive Lineman in Austin corporate earlier today for the Cleveland browns they are they are trying to accumulate Talat to turn this around at one correction you said Kenny foster it's Kenny Young's thirty on Kenny went to Ucla and was great at Ucla she was What's interesting now is what do I always pound on the table with the doctor bus pounded into me star driven town Yes star driven town star driven town no matter what you say star Driven Town Yep the rams now have five different players who are the top paid player at their position Jared Goff Yup uncooked. Yup Todd Gurley Aaron Donald and we assume jalen Ramsey we assume this trade is being made with the idea that Ramsey will sign a long term. term gas contract because if not it's all it's a lot to give up that is a lot every time the rams have wanted to sign somebody to a long term deal they've gotten because remember Marcus Peters on his fifth year option and there was plenty of speculation that the rams were not going to extend him now they've got a younger more accomplished cornerback in Jalen Ramsey who I think there's a much higher comfort level in signing for the long term and by the way he's going to be fun to talk to fun to cover he's a fascinating guy he's not afraid of a great quote and he also happens to be arguably the best cover corner in the NFL well and you have a guy like this it basically takes away half the field yes you just have to defend the other half 'cause you know Jalen Ramsey can guard the elite wide receivers that put him on an island silent or Dion island that's this guy and he's not even twenty five years old

The pressure cooker where there's press conferences held thirty forty fifty of mo- week first of all a lot of times people aren't prepared second of all nobody's really <music> honest and i've said this before i wish people would go to these press conferences and be brutally authentic and brutally honest it would sometimes join be painful but you see a lot of messaging instead of just coming out and being brutally honest with us so and i think that's a missed opportunity for athletes and coaches and owners and g._m. To just tell people what what they truly believe but i think people have a hard time sometimes being franken honest so here we go to another version of pressure cooker every week. We here a lot of people now collins going to tell us what they should have said. It's time to step inside the pressure cooker. All right we start with jerry jerry jones after it was announced that zeke would get a six year ninety million dollar extension. The cowboys owner went on c._n._b._c. with high praise for zeke. Take has been our play our best player. I'm not trying to be unfair to anybody else but he's an incremental part to our success. Okay jerry. Tell us what you're really trying to say there. "I love the big personality guys i the league is so much better when cam newton is playing at a high level. I love baker in cleveland but cam is in carolina and baker is in cleveland's. Put them in new york it. It does matter. There has to be some sort of balance to it. I the quarterback far was a party guy in atlanta so easy to party then he went to green bay and brent. It was a legend like they said in atlanta. That was a southern boy out in atlanta beautiful women out every night. It was a problem brett farve. They went to green bay and they have a holiday inn lounge. That's about it. That's why i think it's important that organizations have a real strict criteria for what works for their culture just for the organization's nations culture but for for the city like san antonio is known for this the spurs way the patriots way like those things do matter they play. They play a role in it. Good stuff joining the news well. That's the news and thanks for stopping by heard. Jared dot got a big contract and there's a lot of critics jared goff and i like jared goff. <hes> there are moments moments for an athlete that are tipping points. I thought his game against minnesota on television on fox. I thought his game against kansas city. Those were tipping point moments. Yes sean mcvay. Mcvay is an excellent coach but joe montana had bill. Walsh brady's got ballot check. Dan fouts had air coryell. Troy aikman had jimmy johnson johnson terry bradshaw had chuck knoll. I don't none of these guys are great without a really smart coach. Yes sean mcvay is really smart and patrick. Patrick mahomes has andy reid but we don't wanna give andy reid any credit in kansas city because mahomes is so flashy and fun and the the flashier of the sports parts car the less credit we give the driver and when it comes to breeze and it comes to brady and it becomes to goff. I mean good god. We're still calling tom. Brady assistant quarterback. They're all system. Quarterbacks mahomes went with golf went toe to toe and beat him and goth went up against minnesota and a perfect quarterback rating never been done with over thirty pass attempts goff did it but the bottom line the flashier the quarterback the the last credit we give the coach. I'll give you an example of this. Mike home runs a hall of fame level head coach. We gave him all the credit in seattle with matt hasselbeck and none of the credit in green bay with brett farve. You ask anybody about mike holmgren. They're like he's one of the top ten coaches of all time go. Mike home runs coaching tree. It's like next to parcels. It's unbelievable. Homedow- homerun got no credit for far. He got all the credit for hasselbeck. He deserved fifty percent of credit for both of them so i think dos contract. He's worth it. I think he's smart. I think he's unique. I think he's matt ryan better arm talent and the idea that well. It's sean mcveigh name me the quarterback. That's got super bowl appearances. It just doesn't happen. You got sean. Payton is not sean payton without excuse me drew brees not drew brees without sean payton and i love troy aikman but if he'd had barry switzer for the first four years and not jimmy johnson. I don't think he would have been troy aikman and that's nothing against barry. Switzer berry took jimmy's momentum super bowl but if but if troy had berries momentum it may have been too late. He may have been gone for the time. Jimmy johnson got there so i think it's worth it. I think he's smart. I think he works hard. I think he's low key. He's got the right personality. I think he's got the size a little bigger than matt ryan and a better arm than matt ryan and i think matt ryan top ten guide and the everything about jared goff. I like totally totally comfortable. It matters mahomes coach -able lock coach bill russell wilson cultural. It matters sam darnold coach garoppolo coach. You know i've said this brought cam. Sometimes i think he's coach will jay cutler. Sometimes i think he was culpable. I think i think that's a big component goff's the real deal..

"You got to go out there and and be able to i think they're going to be really choppy in the first couple of weeks but i do think handelman and josh gordon and all those running backs i mean they can win all their games but element demarcus thomas thomas chris hogan gronk henry's not playing. There's a lot of new stuff. It's a kind of interesting situation for the patriots wide receiver obviously gone. There's is not there miss. The summer with a thumb injury and kill harry is on. I r with an ankle injury. The maria's thomas came back august twentieth obviously after recovering from achilles injury so he's gonna be you know taking it slow and josh gordon was just reinstated suspension so yes everything that jack is saying there is accurate. I it's a different year or tom. Brady likes to be go. Go go go with his receivers to the point where he doesn't even have to say anything. That's why he had the relationship that they do because there's not a lot of conversation that needs to be had there. Thankfully they're running. Backs are really good. Receivers james lights ridiculous so they that that's a great they they don't really have a tight end to be honest with you not not outright and the rebuilt. The offensive line got a new center and i just read a story this morning where they may be one of the teams to trade for trent williams at left tackle. They've experimented there so i think their defense by by the way is really talented. I really liked their defense but i in the valley checks defensive guy but i i think the offense is going to be a work in progress not that they're not going to will be the patriots and figure it out. Finally sam darnold is one of your favorites. He's has one of the most high profile and fell jobs porac for the jets and he's maintained contained low key for sauna not quite in your for yet although maybe he will place lock in your war for i wanna see one more. I wanna see another year from him. I don't have i think he's going to be great but i can't put with him on any list yet well. He's impressed hall of fame coach bill parcells parcels that i know sam a little bit i like him. I think he's a tough guy. You know what i like about him. He's not ready to be a star r._e._i. Just wants to play. That's very important half of them. Come into the league and they're ready to be a star. They're not ready to pay the price to be a quarterback love that we're old school. I like it. Well you know some old school stops okay. There's an old school person for the most part involved all school your way more old school than you would admit it. Yes i pittsburgh. It's like the things but i will say. There's something to this though like sam darnold being boring soaring in new york by the way for the jets. I manning like there's mike lombardi of for n._f._l. Executives does say and you get to these port towns. Miami los angeles. New orleans is a lot of good restaurants and a lot of nightlife and you go to kansas city. You know eleven eleven o'clock at night. It's harder for a player to get in trouble. There's something to be said about a new york. I'd rather my quarterback go to bed early. I mean if you look at some of the quarterbacks rexona been successful. I mean we talk about all the time los angeles is a place. It's very hard to hide. Even if you're trying to hide never see goff anywhere. I never c._d.'s shawn watson andrew. Lock breathes is a quiet guy draw russell wilson's. I it's not it's just i think the position is really hard and it takes a unique focus and if you're an easily distracted person i think it makes it harder on your job. It's not that you can't win games but it does make you harder and by the way joe nemeth. Don't you donate because today he'd get eaten alive and and to be clear..

"That's what i see. Well listen. They won twelve twelve games last year even if they take a couple of games step back. I think they're still a playoff team. I don't think trubisky will be worse than last year. God willing they're kicking situation won't be worse. Their defense should be as good a whole off season from roquan. Smith khalil mack didn't go anywhere and i really liked their coach and as far as the teams i don't buy i'm not including including san francisco in this. Jimmy garoppolo played ten games and he's got hurt badly in two of them. Throw them out of it. Now the rams i think the super bowl hangover hangover a real thing and i also don't think they're going to have the absurd health. They had each of the last two regular seasons you mentioned the cowboys. Cowboys will be good. It's not great. It's just hard and you know this colin every year in the n._f._l. There is a minimum a minimum four new playoff teams. It's usually five so you can't just go chalk. You've gotta find those new teams in the n._f._c. the new teams to me or panthers and packers. I have both their quarterbacks a lot. I'll start there and almost work backwards all right. Let's go to the a._f._c. where i saw your picks and i don't even know. Maybe you made these in the wee hours of the morning. You were tired slightly loopy. Go go ahead because i think i agree with two of them. Fire away okay all right patriots the one seed. I don't have them going to the super bowl. All the chiefs get their revenge in gillette of the game. They should have won last year at arrowhead but they'll be the one seed soft schedule. It'll be six in one at a minimum through seven weeks. They'll be the one the chiefs the best team in the n._f._l. The two seed the browns the most talented starting eleven on both sides of the ball in the n._f._l. They win the a._f._c. north and then the colts. I really liked the colts infrastructure. I like their coach. I like how they're built and i think jacoby will be fine that goes against the houston. Texans who who have just clueless head coach don't have any real infrastructure just have to sean nuke and j._j. And in the wildcard teams the ravens love the earl thomas sedition love their coach lamar will add an element that you almost have to specifically game plan for the ravens differ than any other team and then. There's the bills and i'll be honest. I had to talk myself into my own bills. Pick however every year. There's one playoff team that everyone thought was going to be bad. We say oh hoosier sleeper and everyone's like oh the niners or asleep and it's like no they're not a sleeper vegas has him at nine wins..

"We're a morning show show with this morning for matching by the way the colors are perfect. They look fantastic. Does this little fancy breath might gray hair is my let's go to jane slater later in dallas. She does a remarkable job at the n._f._l. Network via the coward global satellite network so he's got a new contract reporter n._f._l. Network let's start with this <hes> jane first of all thanks stop by. You have a lovely office. I made it to the big time. Your office is way nicer than ours. Let's start with this. When did the deal jane get done. Do we know what time while standing when i touch base with them last night as latest ten forty five both sides walked away they could not get this deal done. There was frustration and they read an impasse again very similar. What we saw happening on sunday night eight the big hold up. I was told was this thirty percent rule which is incredibly complicated located colin. I talked to you a bunch of my colleagues about it in the best person i've seen illustrate. This is my buddy albert breyer. He's got an article that i tweeted out where he outlined lines. Have the eagles got around this carson wentz but it's essentially about where you can put the money based on this expiring you see b._a. So the lane which there and then the cash flow about when he would get certain money and then just the way that he would get it how he would get continuing to be the holdup. It's my understanding that around four thirty four o'clock this morning rocky arsenault zeke's agent shell talks were go again when i reached out the cowboys at five forty five i was told zeke is going to be at practice. I needed clarification vacation given how i the tone of those conversations were going last night and i was told were finalized. The language the deal is done and so we just talked to head coach. Jason garrett air. It zeke elliott was up here at the building around seven thirty. He was in the meetings. He had his press conference. Just now now he's out in that practice builds getting getting doing the work and <hes> right now ahead of that game against the giants now. This became a very public negotiation. Melvin gordon's hasn't jared goff yesterday. Got paid carson wentz was not this was very public. I felt that jerry was sort of trying to put pressure on getting back into the country. It had gotten very personal well. I wonder how that landed. I would prefer if i never had to talk about a contract again in my life as a talk show host. I'd be okay with it. How did you think all the public back and forth stuff and it was mostly just jerry. Stephen delivering blows jerry the last week how to land for zeke yeah. I'm with you callin. I'd be happy if i didn't have to cover another one of these either but keep in mind. We still dot prescott in amari cooper. Oh i got the sense that you don't want thursday after that preseason game when jerry jones essential essential he said look. I'm not expecting hezekiah. L adhere to play against the giants. I feel like that rattled the cage little bit the one thing that we've seen about echo on the field off the field as he suffers restroom a little bit of extreme foam. Oh and i think that that helps here because over the weekend we got word that there were actually these meaningful intentional talks that were taking place that would get him back to dallas and then were shannon. Sharpe was on undisputed yesterday saying he's on a plane so he was heading back here when they were able to catch up with him at the airport. That's that's when rocky essentially said look. We're here in dallas. This shows you our commitment to get this deal done. Jerry went on the radio. Yesterday said he's not messing around but i wouldn't be surprised if sort of the words that were used already excluding the game rattled zeke's cage a little bit now. We haven't talked zeke. We are hoping to talk to him during during locker room..

I've got a new this new that and here's what i make and here's my luxury house and i think a lot of this is stan kroenke the owner of the rams he's legendary. He's the second richest owner in the n._f._l. Almost double jerry jones net worth and you don't know what he looks like and you'll never see him and there's legendary stories that he often shows up for dinner to meet his friend al michaels and he shows up in the back of an uber not like an uber black the expensive one like a lober car and stan kroenke gets out. We may be in the city of kardashians ashton's but it's very non kardashian and i liked the way they do business and here's the other thing people tend to say you know. Jerry is very pro player but let me ask you this. If you had a son or a daughter that was twenty two or twenty three years old and i want you to really think about this. Would you want their name out. There hoisted up there wondering what their value is. Jerry is theatrical but sometimes the players are the cartilage for the last six to eight weeks. We have talked about out zeke like he's more thing than human. Is he were that is it worth that dak prescott not this dak prescott is not that dak prescott is that that he's a human being. I wouldn't want my son or daughter. Value being questioned on instagram or twitter or social media debate shows all day stan kroenke. He actually loves his players. They don't become cartilage. Stan kroenke wraps up his contract with his players and you discuss what but now has happened. Not dakyns zeke what will happen. I like jerry jones i do. I think he's a really good owner. Any generally pays his players but i don't like the way the cowboys often do business. They put their players up. There like pinatas for guys like mita. Take wax at are you good. Are you not are. Are you worth argue. This wouldn't want that done to my kids. I don't want people questioning whether my son or my daughter are worth this or that. "I mean look at the brain power i did. I did yeah they did. I told yeah they came to ocean city in a house. How what a small world this is right so i used to live in this one house ocean ocean city for almost thirty years and i sold it when i moved back fulltime and i they asked me to do this dock. They asked me to come in and talk about both guys and so where i did it was literally literally right across the street from my house. It was like a homecoming. It literally was right across the street that they rented this house that they had just built right. They just a brand new home. There used to be where i lived in ocean city was christian brothers because remember the catholics like the bootleg liquor in the day so we can make a lot of money god plus praise the lord pass the money right so ah they built this christian brothers home and they tore it down and they of course they needed money to catholics so they they sold up. They sold all these lots and so they built these and so i'm in there doing this interview and i'm like this is really surreal. I'm in this. I bought the house after we want our first playoff game and cleveland because of these two guys and now i'm doing it across. It was like weird. It's really great. I mean it was it was it's it's a tribute to and i i think what fans will see how dramatically different both guys are right. They are different from emotional national to thinking but yet they respect one another so much that they come to a common ground. It's interesting because you would think are both guys are from the same cloth right intense a publicly humorless bumps should they have funny next so as bill bill cracker joke but the both croatian they're both they're both from you know and they but there were where they come to and where they get to a completely different but how they build their process or discipline towards the process is verse it is pretty awesome all right mel back time now for mailbags finisher questions by emailing us at the g._m. "It was an unbelievable spectacular showcase of offensive talent and Goth One and Goth had fourteen and no picks and Mahomes was wild at times and had three picks and it was great but played a little out of control. That was the game I believe that players and it got a huge rating that was the moment in the league players looked at Goffin went back and sling it. There were a couple throws in that game. There was a throw to the back of the end zone where everybody involved was was. Oh Oh jared Goff's great. Oh Jared Goff Jared Goff can make all the throws that Patrick Mahomes can make. He just looks where he throws throws it so this N._F._l.. Dot Com players voted on this goths the eighth best quarterback in the League. His Dad by the way was a major league baseball player. He's got good lineage. This is a kid that's athletic right. Dad played in the bigs this to me is the surprise of the list. He's going to finish ahead of Ben and went and Baker to Sean and Matt Ryan and I don't think it's wrong. I think he's that kind of talent joy with the news no on the news. This is the headline news so we're all discussing Zeke this morning and according to a friend of the show Jane slater she tweeted I can confirm today's reports and Zeke is heading to Kabo slow train while the cowboys and his team continue to work on his contract per source closest situation. I am told his agents owns a place there and when he did the same during his suspension it doesn't appear like the cowboys are going to let Zeke's hold out force their hand though because Executive Vice President Steven Jones said yesterday yesterday my goal is at the end of the day we figure out a contract for Dak for Amari for Zeke. That's fair but they've got to understand. There's a real salary cap out there. Any money we save is not going in Jerry's pocket. It's going to another football player. It's hard cap. It's a reality that is the N._F._l.. They have hard. It's very very very different than the N._B._A.'s salary salary cap exception exceptions and some flexibility. There doesn't really exist in the N._F._l.. That said it still it feels like Zeke is being extra in this space. I'm all players getting paid. I think probably more than most. This doesn't seem like there's a smart idea with Levian. It felt warranted. It felt like this is something that love you on deserves. He's willing to sit out and loses money. He it's time for a new contract and he needs to get paid. No I was thinking about six contract honestly as a as something that was gonna come up this year. We knew he was going to get paid but it wasn't needed something I would seriously considering as an issue for the cowboys back deck and then Amari and then Zeke so you get to your point. I don't think Dallas thought about it either. It's I look at the we all have bosses right. Everybody's got office. I mean even the richest of the rich the government's the boss could shut down the Internet right like surprising surprising. Your boss is rarely unless it's a birthday cake not a great idea like if your boss you're a year out from a contract and you say I yeah I think I deserve it..

We're having fun. And and then we go through, you know, having to evacuate the fires and that kind of brought together again simultaneously with that we Colorado to prepare for the game that should have been in Mexico and ends up being back in L A, and some of the stuff that we were just going through as a team there, and we were all together during those times, we're all either in a hotel together evacuating together and all of that stuff. I think brought together and led to kind of group you have now patriots who in their third straight Super Bowl. And Tom Brady expects a close game. Just proud of our team and executing at the highest level when it matters. The most these games for one reason or another always come down to you know, defense is I would say getting a little tired at the end. And you know, typically the offense that has it at the end. And it just isn't true. It's so true. Nobody wants to use the oven. We all want the microwave somebody came up to me yesterday and said I don't trust Jared Goff is he the future of the Rams. And I said, of course, he's the future of the Rams will he's not the future of the Rams. I mean, I watch him. And I'm like we fourteen and three on the road. You don't think Jared Goff is the future of the Rams? Well, I mean, I watch him. I'm against New Orleans. He wasn't what let me remind you that we used to have before the iphone patients. Give me Tom Brady's first Super Bowl. Oh, wait that year. He had an eighty six point five passer rating, eighteen TD's twelve picks. He wasn't elite his second Super Bowl two years later. He had twenty three touchdowns twelve picks in eighty-five passer rating completed sixty percent of his throws. He was not a legend his third Super Bowl in two thousand and four his passer rating was now ninety two Twenty-eight TD's, but fourteen pigs Tom Brady didn't emerge as superstar until his fourth Super Bowl, which by the way with Randy moss. He lost that year. Tom was a legend his passer rating was over one hundred and fifteen he compl-. Waited sixty nine percent of its throws fifty touchdowns. Eight picks did New England ever say. Well, we we don't know if. Brady's the guy folks Tom Brady. Didn't peak until the seventh year in the league was thirty. That's when he was Tom. You know, what Brady are devices are phones gives us instant gratification. We don't let anything marinate and anything bake. Gough at this point in his career is better than Tom Brady got a better arm. He was a three year starter in college. And the number one pick Tom was the hundred and ninety nine th pick led by his defense. Couldn't beat out drew Hinton in college. Jared Goff is not only the future of the Rams at this point. He's better doesn't have the rings. But he's better than Tom Brady. You do remember that Peyton Manning didn't win a playoff game until. Year sex to the colts wanna bail on him. Lebron we think of him as every year is in the finals for seven years got to one Michael didn't get to a final until year. Seven Tom Brady was finally Tom Brady in his fourth Super Bowl. Which by the way is the first one he lost. Jared Goff last weekend went into the loudest NFL stadium against a first ballot hall of Famer and one of the NFL's top defenses. "Jerry seinfeld. Created a show called Seinfeld. It was the best sitcom in my opinion ever. It was not very good. The first year two. Everybody loves Raymond the network almost pulled it. But they let it marinate, and they let it bake. I love devices to but they've created a sense of instant gratification. If you don't think Jared Goff is good. And if you don't think he's the future. Get off the phone use the oven walk past the microwave. He's really really good clearly capable of winning the Super Bowl outplay, drew Brees and is talented more. So than Tom Brady at this point in his career. All right. Good to have. Albert Breyer this hour. I will say this is I'm listening to all this Anthony Davis, Laker stuff. "Tomorrow on episode one is number five Michigan battles Indiana in a conference showdown at all to up tomorrow at six eastern on f s one and the Fox Sports at Michigan's going to end up the national championship against Duke. By the way, Tennessee is pretty good too. You know, I've said I do believe that of all the young quarterbacks. We do have one that's going to be the next Tom Brady. Now need not gonna go to nine Super Bowls. But I do think Jared Goff shares a word that I think's very important traits with Tom Brady, but there are three reasons that I think are really important factors that Brady and Gough share number one teammates love Brady and they love Brady. You've never heard even Randy moss leaves still loves him. Nobody bad mouse Brady opposite Aaron Rodgers. Nobody bad Nelson guys the come guys go guys at overachieved guys that underachieve teammates. Love him. The the respect Jared Goff shares in that Rams locker room is very Brady like. Andrew Whitworth is a unbelievable hall of fame level left. Tackle. He said something after the game that he went into that game Sunday for the first time in his career. It wasn't about him. It was about as teammate. Listen of realize he's a special kid. And you know, what I told my wife before this all started. It's the first year that really didn't it really wasn't about me. I really honestly felt like I was more nervous for this because I believe in Jared Goff. And I believe that he deserves to win. And I just wanna be right about that. And that's what it means. The most proud of you. I mean, that's that's that's a Pro Bowl guy saying about me. It was about my quarterback for professional athletes to say that rob haven't seen is a nother offensive lineman came out and said Jared came in the huddle said listen, this is my huddle. This is the way it's going to be done is the way we're gonna roll they really like him. They're really into. That's very Brady. Like the second thing is. Tom Brady came into this league. And in ran about as fast as I did at the NFL combine and was kind of mocked for his body. I mean, they show this this video all the time the picture of Brady. I don't think it's a coincidence. That Brady's body and physique and athleticism have been mocked. And yet he is now twenty years later the most body obsessed player. He knows that videos out there. He's aware that you don't think he's an athlete, and no professional athlete is more body obsessed than Brady I think a lot of it has combine stuff. Similarly, Goth came into this league look skinny couldn't take a snap. Got blown up by Richard Sherman on the sideline Jared Goff. Heard would everybody said he doesn't even look like a number one pick. He looked skinny and Gakkai. Similarly, Jared Goff kind of got laughed at for his body for his awkwardness for he he did. He looked like he just couldn't it didn't not much of a chest. He was skinny he couldn't take a snap. He looked lot. I think Goth here's that and will become very much like Brady into career longevity. Take care of his body low alcohol eat right happens to be by the way in L A where everybody's vegan the. Third thing that I think is big motivation. Is it doesn't matter. If it's joy, it's me a childhood experience. Whatever it is motivation kind of separates people. Some people have that chip on their shoulder. Others don't Brady despite his night Super Bowl. There are people that Kalma system quarterback. And that is because of one thing Bill ballot check when you have a genius coach. We would if bread far was going to nine Super Bowl. Would we even acknowledge that he had a coach nobody ever says Chuck knoll is the reason for Jimmy Johnson is the reason for no half the people out there like well. I mean, he's good, but he's got ballot. Check who does Goff have the next ballot. Check the genius. Who over the course of time is going to take a lot of he won't take the credit. He'll be given a ton of credit for Gough success, which will drive Jared. The three things I really see..

"But but his and by the way, I think we should trust him because his profile picture is a picture of him in a dodger hat with Vic the brick. I. Yeah. I mean, I love Vic. Vic, by the way, Greg Vic and has been fighting cancer. God bless like a nice guy. Go back and find Bill Plachy article about Vic that he wrote about a month ago, we love Vic, we don't work with them anymore. We used to work with at the other place. But now, you will not meet a nicer guy than Vic the brick and he's had a really difficult year. But he's hanging in there. And he's like the ultimate optimist. And and Vic we're we're thinking about you man and rooting for. Yeah. He's an absolute institution in this town. So okay. And by the way, speaking of Plachy who wrote the article about Vic the brick. Yeah. Did you see his column today? No. I did not. Okay. I'm sure it's a Rams column though in no, it's about your Goth. Okay. So I'm gonna just have you react to it. You said somewhere somehow Jared Goff has lost his magic. All right. That's the point of this. He says the problem is real the worry is palpable on a night when the Rams likely lost all chance. At home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Folks were searching for something agent even larger where on earth is their great young quarterback. So we talked about this at the start of the show Mace. I gave you some pretty discouraging numbers in his last three games. One touchdown seven interceptions. You're the one guy in the media that stuck with Jared Goff from the minute. They drafted him. Everybody else, including me jumped ship a long time ago. But you have been a big Jared Goff supporter where are you? Now. After these last three games while I'm going to say something..

"To tell Goths organic nonchalance transcend circumstance and outcome against the saints with just under ten minutes left. He threw a forty one yard touchdown pass to Cup to put the Rams. A two point conversion away from racing at three touchdown deficit is reaction the same as the one in Minnesota and the same as the one throughout high school, which is to say almost no reaction at all. Is Dan says the most emotion he seemed from his son came in Seattle after a successful quarterback sneak on fourth down late in the game clinched, the Rams fifth win haven Stein. The offense of town. Michael sits at his locker mimics, the most few sieve gov celebration with an almost apologetic fist-bump and strangled your it's modesty. Sure. But that's only part of it. It's how confidence looks when someone is still waiting for a moment. He deems worthy of celebrating. Joining me. Now is ESPN senior Tim Kyun, Tim. Thank you again for making the time with us any no problem. Thanks for having me. So what are the thing? The first thing that struck me about with the story is it seems that you had a little bit of a background only because you're able to see Jared Goff play high school based on where you are out in the west coast. Yes, it's true. I have four sons who played high school football in the same league as Jared Goff in Marin county epileptic league and one of them played football and baseball against him for three years. So I was able to see Jared cough tear up some undermanned slow defensive backfield in the marine county. Athletically, say how'd that work for them ago that workout for your family? A little I'll be the the insufferable daddy here. And 'cause Jared actually mentioned it when we were talking is that my son was a an under size middle linebacker who actually was the only one to ever knock Jared Goff out of a high school game on the first play of the game and hit him in the ribs and not the wind out of him. And he had to sit out for a couple of plays. So we're glad he wasn't hurt. But that's my my son's claim to fame. Our yourself IV telling that story at all even appropriate non sequitur moments. Yes. He he liked the fact that jet remembered him for that. Nice. But will you talk about though, that you know, that calm cool to me. Chuck the touchdown pass that kind of jog off is is this still is still fun for him. Do you think I was?.

"Ronald journey. Make this league would be much better than a fell his some issues the activists he cannot pass protect, and we know that. And maybe that's a big part for people don't think about huge has protection and understanding schemes for running back. Can't understand schemes announcing the field in the NFL. It's important gotta predicting order back, especially as a rookie who might not start. You might be on third down man you'd better protections. You will get that quarterback killed and look not everything is our fault upfront by the way on sex. Is on the running back. So. Right right now today, speaking of quarterbacks young quarterbacks in early. Yes. The big talk a few years ago Carson Wentz and Jared Goff, would you take? So the last two years really it's been obviously Carson Wentz. You know, it's been obviously, they won the Super Bowl, obviously falls. But Carson Wentz was an MVP. But right now today you have to take Carson Wentz or Jared Goff moving forward who do you take him on is a great question and. We talked about coaching. I think coaching matters because I think Jerry paired with the perfect coach for they are joy Jared Goff would be successful with Doug Peterson. I think he would be good. But not quite the same. I think the. Peterson obviously. As a. Offensive. Interesting. So I will say this both coaches, I think it's hard to separate them. But they've both done outstanding job of of. Catering their offense to their quarterback. But who would you take right now? We're dancing around the question. Still take words. Tweet us your thoughts. Ed Jeff shorts at Barrett. Jones. Call one eight eight say ESPN one eight eight eight seven two nine three seven seven six who. Would you take right now? Would you take Jared Goff? Or would you take Carson Wentz? I'll tell you, by the way. I agree with you. I would take Carson Wentz. I do. I think I think I've I've been wrong on golf like many people. Yeah. Golf is impressive. He's a good player. I would still take Carson Wentz Carson Wentz. But it's the same. You know, he's workers laid back from injury dude special. The dude is special. I would still take once he has an and, but it's close it's very close. It's closer than I ever thought. It would be oh, I'm with you. I think it's extremely close. I agree with you. I for the first year, we didn't know what he would be. But Gough just keeps getting better. I think he I think people had the system quarterback thought I think it was in people's minds. But he's making throws man that are that are unreal. Like, there's not just system quarterback. Throws dudes. Are tripped over guys. Now, he's making a lot of throws with guys wide open, which is great great offense align, but he's making some throws. No nothing wrong with that. There's a lot of sleep who can't hit some of those open wide receivers. All right coming up next. We'll continue our conversation about quarterback the rookie quarterback's now everyone besides Lamar Jackson has started as a first round quarterback. That's all next the locker room ESPN radio and the ESPN app. Breaker Monday on ESPN.
