Fresh update on "houston astros" discussed on CBS Sports Radio

"Los Angeles has been to three of these last four World Series. But has not hoisted that trophy since 1988 No no. In Tampa's case, they've never won a World Series in their history. They've been to a fall classic before that was back 12 years ago. And this team. Whether you call it the little engine that could that got a couple of star pictures. They obviously have a superstar in the making. And Randy Ros Arena, the rookie from Cuba. Who knows how long they keep this group together. It seems to be an issue always for the Rays. However, it's been a lot of fun to see them. And I do not count him out. Now. Roles were reversed in the when they build the 30 lead against the Houston Astros, and then watch the Astros come back with all their fireworks and dramatics and force. Game number seven. And then They were able to close it out and move on to the World Series. However. Here They are sitting on the opposite side of it. Now they soon ached. Victory from the jaws of defeat. In game number four. Never seen anything like it. I tweeted this right after the game, But it's so true. And you know, I used it on the air sometimes. From the category of you Can't make this stuff up. That was game number four, and that happens with the race, but here they are backs against the wall. And they're gonna have to come up with a victory. It's Tuesday in Game number six. And then in order to win a world theories have to win two in a row. Against the Dodgers. It's a tall order, but it's not impossible. Dave Roberts under fire for his decisions in Game number four. His decisions in game number five, worked out to the letter, though he was asked about pulling Kershaw with five and two third well with two outs in the fifth inning. We felt that you know he was at the end, and he just had enough to get two hitters to go to Dustin at Margot. And so you know, we talked about it and he executed You know, he held up his part of the deal and got the two hitters and we didn't say how many pitches we said two hitters, and that was what we agreed upon. And at that point time I felt that I wanted Teo take the baseball from and you know, he just grinded. He willed himself to that point on. I will say it wasn't his best stuff, but he found a way to get out and I get more credit. Dave Roberts, manager of the World Series. Contending Los Angeles Dodgers for three of the last four years, and a lot of his decisions have been under fire. It scrutinized but that always happens when you lose. And now here they are on the brink. This may have been Clayton's last appearance of 2020, though there is the potential for relief if it's theories, go seven. And he said, We talked about this. He was right at the point at which I knew I was going to pull him. The two hitters in the sixth inning there notwithstanding. And Kershaw gets the win. So he now has two wins in the World Series. They looked very different, but he's got two wins. The Dodgers have three and they're one victory away from grabbing that championship in this weird, wacky 2020. Also, I just got this tweet from Casey. So I want to make sure I read it really quickly. Please forgive me for this. He says it was Will Smith Who dropped the ball on Saturday night on the throw from Max Muncy. Yes, I was thinking about Austin Barnes because of him being behind the plate tonight. So will in Austin going back and forth and will the d h in game number five..

"The rosters play the games We hear about the Patriots facility being shut down today. At some point At some point you need to progress. Put the players in that that need to be put in, but at some point you need to progress with the season. I would get started this hour. The When you lie and you cheat and you steal One thing you don't get to do is declare yourself victim status. But somebody has not told that to the Houston Astros organization. Not in the least bit remorseful. For being a bunch of cheating creeps. Is that a little harsh? This isn't professional wrestling. If you want to play the hell And have everybody hates you. That's fine, too. But what you need to do is acknowledge the fact that you don't give a flip about integrity. And how you went about your business. You can wear your Super Bowl except me. Your World Series rings. You can hang your banners. You can celebrate what you think you accomplished. But everybody knows how you accomplished it. Houston Astros air like Bernie Madoff. Yes. "Hello bronze comet and then the Houston Astros well I'm not saying you're not going to play up the contract two point eight hello if you want to set out and then they don't play these games and they don't really division title by three days because he said I don't I don't I don't you know I I think you're going to play and then you've got to persuade the younger players not the plate but ones that just walked out I'm really Najin and got to make the five thousand dollars a month payments on it or whatever it is our body and then I want to well I'm I'm a blue collar union man my motto is union values that the Major League Baseball Players Association is a strange union they will put out a bolo de WG jogger good reason attacked each other my job now some of it I hope you and you tried to contact on the next batter you watch him run around the bases the result is too bad yeah I agree with this could result if you're so you're angry about it on the next batter and forget about what what the players jumping up and down all running around the bases and goes it should be every what if I want to thank everybody on the roster fifty thousand dollar fine our thirty game suspension no you can't for all the players at the same time because you got to play two games prepared but but they they don't season tickets so I find a way to I don't at Saint John find a way to suspend them and let them play with twenty three thousand seven twenty six and I'm not at all are you we are the first is all of this for throwing out an astro no that's it he was that stupid idea about still inside it quite well I think they already have this they already know how they're going to do if you're just saying you want to change the system your I want to be such that you don't think let alone do it well I I think a lot of the players actually believe this is a bit of a deterrent because the Astros have been called out and vilified and does it in their World Series whether they keep it or not is tainted so but I believe this is a deterrent plus their manager got fired in their general manager got fired and for those who enjoyed working with AJ Hanjin but like they had great success with him he's he's now been balanced I mean he had to pay the price I hope some of them feel guilty about that as for lebron James Frank thank you so much for your phone call I don't know if he was being tongue in cheek I suspect the put push came to shove he wouldn't back play in those games but I wonder if he is speaking out about it as a what's that phrase that as the price of a proactive step no no that's not that's not the one I'm thinking of but he's he's saying it because he wants the NBA to know this is not what he wants right so he's saying any speaking out and making his opinion known because he wants the NBA to hear it in case the preemptive thank you Dave preemptive strike is what I meant to say because he he knows the NBA's listing any wants to make sure the NBA knows how he feels about having games in front of Fayette Ave in front of arenas are in arenas with no fans eight five five two one two four two two seven Troy is the New Hampshire welcome to after hours a mere Yun great thanks yeah well the whole thing ability corona virus you do think that this is going to become somewhat of a epidemic in terms of people not going to the Iranians and of course I live in New Hampshire and Iowa field experience do you think it's going to be an issue well I can't speak for anybody else I wouldn't stay away from from an event because of the threat of corona virus but that's me you know I worked this weekend to college basketball games and sat right there on court and to talk to people education and did all the same things I normally do because it's my job I can't work from home so I will continue to do my job my job is in New York City which is a city of more than eight million people in the metro area has ten million people there's nothing I can do about it this is this is where I work in this is what I do and I'm also extremely healthy I'm training for half marathon so my respiratory system might be the best shape of its full faith and and I'm I believe what the what the medical experts are saying which is that if you don't have pre existing conditions and you don't have a weakened immune system the survival rate is ninety eight percent we're talking about something similar to the flu in terms of getting sick and then we're covering it it's not fatal in ninety eight percent of cases and so I appreciate that people are nervous because there isn't a vaccine I appreciate that people are nervous because of the uncertainty but I mean I'm I'm not gonna change my life and it it doesn't make me nervous I guess yeah well I I thank you the the the the the influenza eight has been going around up here in New Hampshire is going around everywhere the the flu is the flu is far more deadly at least at this point in our country than coronavirus yeah yeah I would agree I appreciate your talk and I wish you all the best thank you try appreciate your phone call eight five five two one two four two two seven if there are those of you out there who have changed your sporting event plans I I don't wanna know if you change your travel plans I suspect there are a lot of people who have actually go by my home her school in the Houston area they've come up with a contingency plan in case something would happen and they would have to hold the rest of the school year through online classes so let's just say students a couple of students came up with corona virus side note children are not very susceptible so as a side note a lot of times children are the ones that you worry about but in this case the the corona viruses is far more for more prevalent among people over fifty and people with pre existing respiratory conditions again so it's nice that children are not really in a danger zone but anyway my mom school have come up with a contingency plan where they would finish the year out online if they needed to but one of her best friends and fellow teacher just went on a cruise that's one thing I wouldn't do it because it's a floating Petri dish and you know they're these stories about thirty five hundred people on cruise ships where people have the virus and what can you do you can't go anywhere to get away from it and so I wouldn't take a cruise and I certainly wouldn't travel against the wishes of the CDC or the national institutes of health the World Health Organization to places like Italy or China it wouldn't be going there anyway Boris South Korea I mean these are places where they do have outbreaks so I just heard that south Korea's reporting fewer new cases which is good what you want to take the precautions are not going to hot zones and certainly not on a cruise the only taken one of those my life but otherwise there isn't anything about my life or my career that I plan to change in fact I'm still planning on going to Cuba this summer and that international travel so I'd love to hear from you if you have changed major plans regarding sporting events so attending a sporting event maybe you have to get to college basketball or to the NBA to the NHL coming up and you've changed your plans over fears of the corona virus I you can find me on Twitter a law radio also on our Facebook page "The Houston Astros cross that line and they're gonna have to pay for it throughout the season it's already began in spring training with the Astros are being booed people are lashing out L. also be something that V. Houston astro players are going to have to deal with from a psychological point of view and how are they going to evolve through the season with the distraction and as I'm speaking to you it may not be something that will be just amplified this season in most cases it's going to be a target on their back the Houston astro organization have the players and even when the players go to other teams how will those teams enter act with those players knowing full well there was sign stealing and cheating going on baseball is a fraternity and when you get moved outside of the art D. your K. S. to the side so that's something that we want to talk with bill white about and also maybe have the same kind of conversation with you and reference to that baseball spring training broke this week so what did I do so what did you do son well there's always I'm a baseball person first and I know that most of you identify with me from a basketball point of view and I don't have a problem with that what my whole sports upbringing I was always about I wanted to be a baseball player so what did I do I have my baseball glove it's a Spaulding it's not the one I had back in the day in fact the gloves that they have today are so much larger then the gloves we had back in the day the gloves were smaller this is the glove that's much bigger but a glove I have a baseball I hope you can hear that spreading inside well back in the day when I had my glove it all season what we would do is take the three in one oil put in the pocket of the glove put the ball in sight and let that develop a good packet for you when the upcoming baseball season came around know what I'm talking about glove some of you may not even be aware of this but back in the day everybody didn't have a glove and one of the things that we did back in the day was we left our gloves on the field when we came off on defense even in the major leagues because we mimic everything that they did so that was always a part of what it is that we did from baseball point of view I have my baseball bat and the one that I have and I've had for all these years is a baseball bat is a Louisville slugger it has a seventy six a logo on it I'm showing to calm my producer and Kyle put up the call in numbers for me too and also it says W. C. A. U. twelve ten radio now why is that significant sunny because when I got involved in the broadcast business in nineteen sixty nine a wonderful and the individual by the name of Andy Musser took me under wing nurture me in this business I wouldn't be where I am today if you were if not for Andy Musser and then we were doing the seventy Sixers games and I was doing the home games only I was the first black to be an analyst in the basketball or the NBA and then the Musser took me under wing even invited me on a number of occasions to be at W. C. A. U. which was a sports talk format some of the what we do here not only gave me additional confidence but an opportunity to work with a giant in this business so I have my baseball bat my Louisville slugger so I'm prepared so when we talk about baseball we always have to talk about Ernie banks number fourteen from the Chicago Cubs and you say why you have to talk about any bank sunny how many banks will always say because you have the love of the game let's play two now back in the day they played two on Sundays every Sunday was a double header what is it to fill up the athletics all the fluffy Phillies here all around baseball they don't play doubleheaders anymore so that aspect of the game is gone where are they now we talk about the seventy Sixers they lost an ugly game last night in Milwaukee they have a big game tomorrow against the Atlanta Hawks they must win their home games to even keep an even aspect from their fan base and their own psychological so those home wins are important and as you know the six will have the best home record in the NBA and what about Ben Simmons he went out in the first quarter of the game last night injured back will he be back and when will he be back so those are some of the things we put out there for you you want to get involved in that conversation a conversation number is eight eight eight seven two nine nine four nine four will allow you to get involved with that aspect we have some other things that we're going to put on on the docket but when we come back on the other side we will be talking about the big fight.

"Of baseball needs to say let the Houston Astros were cheaters good but she everyone's on the same page and I think this is rob Manfred the biggest issue that he's had to deal with as commissioner of Major League Baseball the every commissioner has an issue that he needs to deal with and you got to find the right balance and I don't think in this scenario the rob Manfred is found the best balance when it comes to the Houston Astros and he can talk a lot about teams throwing it people but I'm here to tell you we watch enough baseball to know that the players are going to legislate themselves and there's going to be consequences when it comes to the Houston Astros this season I can't think of a sports story and a baseball story in which baseball players have been more direct than their criticism of the Houston Astros you have players directly speaking to the cheating that went on in Houston that to me if you are serious about penalizing the Houston Astros it needs to be removal of Jose out to base MVP award and it should be removing their name from the two thousand seventeen World Series and them being forced to give the trophy back that's a tangible penalty that will forever be linked to them in the history of baseball bill there's one thing I know about America and the American public we move on from things really quickly and we will move on from this astro story and when the years go by will have jokes about Houston but there the record will not show severe penalty the same way in spike a with the patriots you people remember what the penalty was when you then factor in the infraction you remember if they strip the world of the Superbowl it made him take the banner down it made him give the trophy back you will remember that that would be a major talking point to this day now I know Spygate still story but it's kind of a ha ha ha the patriots are cheaters and they've gotten some penalties it deflate gate with the Brady we go back and forth or whether that was right or wrong but if you're not thinking about taking games away it's taking accomplishments away and taking awards away but I just don't really know if you're serving the baseball public that has been so outspoken about what they would like to have in this scenario you're listening to the Harrison experience a live on CBS sports radio coming up momentarily we'll be joined by Scott gold brains in who who does the pre game for the Los Vegas raiders is Tom Brady a realistic possibility for the raiders we discussed was got go break the coming up right now let's head to the CBS sports radio update my got Peter Schwartz sports play all thrilling conclusion to the NBA all star game in Chicago's team lebron be team Yanis one fifty seven one fifty five Lakers Anthony Davis the game winning free throw to get team lebron to the target score of one fifty seven Kawhi Leonard thirty points in the Kobe Bryant all star game MVP so that fourth quarter was awesome it was great Michael.

"How are you Tom? Great my my baseball. All teams manager didn't get fired before ever coaching game. So I'm in a pretty good spot right now boy boy oh boy this. Although the he can argue the phillies may have been better off. Had gave Gabe Kappler been fired before I for coaching game. But the not how this this astros thing is is interesting and credit to Gabe Kaplan today for hiring the first female assistant and Major League Baseball history glass ceiling Blah Blah Blah Katie sours. Good job I think Becky Hammon should be a head coach. But that's another topic for another time. This baseball thing is absolutely insane. And what did you think of. What were your initial reactions? When you saw the punishments for the Houston Astros which to give people background their general real manager and their their coach get fired? Although I guess that wasn't punishment they get suspended for a year as a result get fired the managers What is Lynch Okay God. Why so hinch and Jeff Ludlow you know Kristen ludlow's wife I'd unspent falling off the rails? What's the general managers is? What's at higher sleep anymore? Jeff knocking to work here anymore. It's like it's like blue now or something like that but it's so they suspended for year. They ended up getting fired For a more interesting and cognitive in cognizant and all my for a a version of this conversation which Greg Shire now having that actually makes sense and I use the right right names check out the underdog from earlier in the week but short of that those guys they get fired they. The Astros get fined five million dollars. I and the the Astros are fine. First and second round picks for the next two years. We also have Alex Cora fired from the Red Sox and and as you mentioned Carlos Beltran fired from the mets. Would you make all this. I mean I. I know a couple of weeks ago when the story first broke kind of called for heavy heavy sanctions and heavy. You know penalty for for this type of situation and I think we got it. The draft picks things certainly going to hurt the fines. Whatever there are Major League baseball team? That's two years or a year. Two years removed from winning the world series. Not Hurting for money losing the manager losing the GM it is what it is you know. Obviously those guys play a big role in building the team and obviously the manager the daily basis certainly helped but sure no outside of removing banner which doesn't solve anything anybody anyway because nobody cares in situations like data. I mean there's really nothing else. Major League baseball could of or should have done. It's hard to single out players. But then it's weird. Because Carlos Carlos Beltran was a player not getting penalized by Major League Baseball. But the mets chose to firem- anyway which is really weird. Interesting listing move. Well we don't know what shoe is about to drop because technically Cora hasn't been punished either we all know he's a dead man walking at this point. Yeah that's true. I mean it's funny. How the Astros just sort of like that guy did he did it? He doesn't work here anymore but he was the mastermind. It's it's a lot of. He said she said I think there. And I think it's it's kind of hard for the I don't even know cores role when he was on with the Ayrshire bench coach or whatever it was. It's kind of hard to blame him. Completely then act like Aj hinch those guys were completely out of the loop or or not involved in any way in the entire situation. Yes it's strange. Got A lot of stuff. One of the interesting astros stuff. I was looking over at the Sports Book Cook earlier today and I saw some interesting lines for who could end up coaching a couple of these teams and I do WanNa get into that but After that I want to a little bit back into this astro situation specifically because I think there's some hypocrisy going on within it and by that I mean a lot of hypocrisy going on within it so Vonda asks. Who's going to be the next manager of the Boston? Red Sox than the manager for Game One of the twenty twenty season. And the odds here we have. Ron Ron icke minus two fifteen Jason Varitek plus two fifty fifty Matt Cuartero Plus Two fifty. Tim Hires plus eleven hundred. Carless people's plus twelve and Dave Bush plus eighteen. Where's break main that money? Dan Money's on Jason Varitek all day every taste Captain Boston. The face of the Red Sox I I was amazed when you said plus money for Varitek I feel like that's their move. It saves face with their fan base. Yada Yada Yada. VR Tech was player. GotTa it Yeah Yeah No. I think we're on the same page there and I think it's also interesting the two I it's interesting to three managerial. Jobs are open on the sixteenth of January. That's pretty much unprecedented especially from these three organizations but vita also asks who's going to be the manager of the Astros for Game One of the twenty twenty season and this I think is a it's a little bit more difficult Joe Is spotted is modest one. Fifty Bucks showalter's plus four fifty macro plus five fifty Brad also mess plus eight fifty John. Gibbons plus nine fifty the Andy Green plus twelve fifty dusty Baker Twelve Fifty Hensley mullins plus twelve fifty and a Eduardo Perez. Who I would guess is the is going to be the mets coach? He was the runner up to Beltran for the mets coaching. Position is plus two thousand. I don't like that awesomeness former average going purely ex players. Yeah well. It's one of those things that almost makes the most sense. I mean awesomeness. He's been around the block a little bit managerial wise. I think he only in his last job. He only only got one year out of it. I can't think of even the team that he was either the diamondbacks or the homeless. I'm with I don't think it was the astros. But as time Baxter San Diego somebody a west coast but I think that could be a way that they go. I don't see I don't I don't see the the buck showalter would how do we. How do you sell your fans who are now used to playing in the world series in the AL every year? Yeah we're going to bring you the guy that led the orioles to like two hundred and thirty plus losses. The last two sees. Hello Yeah by the way Mr Manager of the Anaheim individuals twenty nine. I knew it I knew it was a west coast team. It's a it's a weird situation and I. I think it's incredibly strange that there were. We're not seeing players get suspended again. I know that there certainly could be another shoe to drop like I said but the reports that are being just vehemently it denied by Jose. altuve Alex Bregman and those guys are that they were wearing officers on their bodies. And can I tell you the more they look. Look into this the more that I find credence to it. And you know there's there's that video in two thousand nineteen where all the sudden you you know. Jose altuve wouldn't do the celebration. They always did when the shirt ripping celebration when Homerun He's basically like holding his Jersey down and saying don't rip my shirt to his teammates. So there's maybe something there but I I want to look at Jose Altuve as actual career and it seems like it. Breaks Down Pretty clearly when this happened. You know we go from. He comes into majorly at twenty one years old. He hits to Seventy six as a twenty two year old and two thousand twelve. He has to ninety as a twenty three year old in two thousand thirteen. He hits to eighty three with a three sixteen eighteen o BP then twenty fourteen you know. He has a Brady Anderson esque explosion and development process. Where where he goes from two eighty three to hitting three forty one with a three seventy seven? Oh be pig. We're talking about a fifty eight point increase in his batting average. It seems like if That might be a sign that something was going on starting in twenty four. I mean that is an insane. mm-hmm insane jump it. Whenever you hear the name Brady Anderson thrown around? That's never going to be positive. No now I mean listen the I looked at the buzzer stuff. A little bit today before to run out there and ref som some glorious stories glorious. Cyo Basketball but it was. I mean I find that so hard to believe. That's something just is because it's it's almost like it's almost like how dumb can you be like anything could happen. You could be diving to make a play diving. Get into a second or Third Jersey rips. Now there's was a sensor. That's just out there that people can see like there's so many variables there and ways to get caught. I mean unless they're just that cocky and confident that they're not gonna get caught the the only way I could picture that actually being a thing. It's just the only way like weird twitter account. That's been floating around around all day. Since the last couple of days that's like allegedly Carlos Beltran's niece but then the family denied it and Oh yes that was pretty critic a whole big thing said that like made accusations about Kleber Torres potentially also wearing stuff got you got Scott Brosius as a kid alleging Mike Trout Take Aga huge baseball's falling apart at the seams. Here it's nuts. Yeah Oh absolutely it is like it's. It's a nightmare scenario for this for Major League Baseball Right now an organization that already has more than its own share of problems for this stuff to come out and especially when we're talking talking about the two thousand seventeen. MVP of of baseball to potentially be actively cheating full-time. Oh my God I have. I have a buddy who actually said today that this is great for Major League Baseball. A publicity that they're getting is so great. DUDE THIS IS I. I know people say that all publicity is good publicity. This is terrible for Major League Baseball. People already don't care and now you're gonNa tell me that okay. Let's just say two of the last. Three champions were blatantly cheating and and it was all brought to the forefront and and now like who. Who's ever going to care about baseball again? This is not good publicity. It's a it's a terrible mindset to think like oh great. We're getting talked about on twitter but for the wrong reasons like this isn't gonNA drive people to watch your game. Nobody's got a tune in opening night Sunday night baseball walk. Let's see let's see how they handle this cheating scandal now. Nobody's going to care about that. It's just unbelievable. I just think it's crazy crazy to think that a guy could naturally increases batting average. Fifty eight points here. Yeah absolutely. That's not like if a guy's hitting like two twenty five or something like that and he has like awkward slump year with an established history of being better. Maybe if Bryce Harper had three eighteen next year or something like that. I don't think anybody would say oh would jump to his cheating but when you're talking about a guy who hit two eighty three in one hundred fifty two games by the way not a small sample size and then he jumps up to three forty one the next year. I also know that that's natural absolutely doing on the up enough. There's no doubt about it. No doubt about it. Yeah and then that next year up the batting average another fifty eight points for nineteen. It's just insane. They were clearly cheating and I think it was Alex. Wood was out there tweeting about how he'd much rather pitch to the guy on steroids and the guy who knows what's coming and that's your that's one of the most realistic reactions to this situation. That's out there. The steroid scandal pair pales in comparison to this. This is a this is a rock you to the core situation for Major League Baseball. Yeah this is what was it in in bonds book. He was talking about like steroids can make a bad player. Okay and okay player. Good a good player. Great and a great player. Barry Bonds Barry Bonds certainly was his biggest fan. But but I think that that's true. It doesn't like you know even we. We joke about Brady Anderson. All the time but Brady Anderson was borderline. all-star worry worry hit fifty home runs. He was an outstanding player. who was a very different player? But he was still an outstanding player in Barry Bonds on his own merits potentially a hall of Famer if he never takes a steroid yeah. This is a whole different story. Like this is taking a guy and I know you're not a big fan of your your wars and your advanced metrics and and stuff like that. But for the first three years of his career he was a one player basically which means like his presence in the lineup is worth one win above a replacement level player the next year he jumps to six point one. I mean. That's that's an insane jump and obviously like you said I'm not it's on like the biggest advance stats guy in the world and you know whatever but but to jump five points in a in a thing like that it is as you know absolutely insane for them for them to then say so. When it Alex Cora joined the Astros Pitcher Syrup coaching staff? Does it. Line up with that. I can check that I can. I can look very now but I just. I think it's insane. The this guy shouldn't be suspended. I know it's it's going to be really hard to prove exactly what happened and whether or not there were. Buzzers are not bother buzzers. He joined his Cora was only there in two thousand seventeen okay so then he gets the majority of the blame somehow if area if this sort of stuff was happening and obviously it's all alleged it's all guessing basically but jumps like that. Don't they don't just happen you. Don't it took a couple of extra. BP swings in the off season. I was in the you. Know the Dominican Summer League winner League and you know I just really started word seeing everything better like that doesn't exist. We'll these ironically. He's this is a good candidates with the Brady Anderson. I got contacts. Excuse Yeah Yeah. Yeah Yeah I can see now i. It's amazing how much easier it is..

"houston astros" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why

"houston astros" Discussed on You're Wrong... And Here's Why

"We're back let's talk a little Houston Astros and tell me why they should face serious serious consequences. If it's proven. They stole size. I mean let's look at it this way. Everybody looks for that slight edge in sports. You see there's a difference in you know I guess stealing sign as the guy who's standing on second can be seen in a little league world series. You see it in that type of thing where they're giving signals when there's a man on the pitch is coming or being calm. I mean there's the difference in Tugging Jersey on a passing route through. That's it's cheating technically but it's it's nothing it's nothing that's super heinous. It's it's just trying to get a competitive edge. What the Astros have done from what it sounds like is basically set up a network of cheating using cameras and all sorts of different things with signals and just completely rigged the the deck for themselves? I mean they were the best team team at home this season. And if that system setup in in minute maid Parker I think it's still minute maid park if it's set up like that I mean it's so clear and obvious and blatant that it's just disgusting like you don't. I'm all for offer a competitive edge but to to do something like dad is so much worse. It's I don't know what it is. It's like spy gate really. I mean I know people take spy gate and throw it out. We're like actively recording. Somebody's practice and being able to go over the tape and things like that is so much different than if you had somebody just Kinda like in their walking around looking at you know what I mean. There's something about there's something about the technology part of it and using that to gain the advantage that makes us feel so much worse. Listen and then another type of scandal. Plus they want a world series. Doing this as you guys did. Did those New England patriots in what was the Patriots punishment. Nothing right because this is the kind of thing for better or worse. It's tacitly accepted in sports. You know if there's a really good good article on it in the athletic about this and Thursday comment from a major league manager says it's an issue that permeates through the entire league and it happens because the league weakest done a very poor job of policing discouraging. It look do they set up rules. Yes but the Major League baseball hasn't punished anyone since twenty seventeen for sign on stealing and it happens in every single game in every single game maybe not to the extent that of what we're talking about but it happens all the time time like who cares honestly like how are you going to go back and retroactively. Punish this team. This is taking the heisman trophy and a national championship. Away from mm-hmm well. I guess they didn't win. The National Championship taken is me trophy away from Reggie Bush be back at. USC means nothing. They still one who cares. Move on fix. Fix The policies move forward with rules that are actually enforced and the past is what it is. You're not rewriting any of it you know. I honestly don't think rewriting the past is is the way to punish a-team in this situation. I don't I think you have to hurt them monetarily. Now and you have a to affect future draft picks and draft considerations. Those those have to be the way that baseball draft picks. Oh Boy Oh you know what I mean foreign in player Money International Pool. Money that sort of thing Chris and Laura large fine. I think there has to be something to that to steal things. Things electronially makes it makes it feel like such such a bigger scandal in a bigger thing. You're gaining you're gaining something that to to the naked eye like I don't care you have somebody in the bullpen stealing signs. As long as they're not using Benach dealers they're able to figure something out Chore One Hundred Percent Fine That's it would consider that part of the game when you're using other methods something like camera or something that setting you up and giving you giving you that that edge edge it's really cheating and nobody cares about taking away at title you can put Asterix Gimme. The bonds thing to the Louisville cardinals never won on the National Championship. And they never beat Michigan and spike. Albrecht to get out of here with all that I don't I don't care obviously. Nobody's nobody's GonNa forget that nobody forgets when the NCAA takes away titles words and all that stuff. It's dumb trying to rewrite. History is stupid but affecting their future I think is something has to happen. Okay so here's the issue. How do we prove unequivocally that this happened because in order to do that this was handled the wrong way you know? We have four guys from that 2017 team and I don't to my knowledge and correct me if I'm wrong. We have have no evidence that anything happened. Post two thousand seventeen. We can assume but we don't no one has claimed for sure right yet. I don't think so okay. So we're talking about guys like like Mike Myers in in two thousand. Seventeen was one of the guys who came out and said they were stealing signs. The only evidence of this is a claim lame from a former former disgruntled player. Who was let go by the team? There's no way to catch them if they if he wanted to do something in effect change he should have gone gone quietly to major league. Baseball and Major League baseball can look into it as this is still going on but by coming up publicly especially after the season in his over then astros can just change everything immediately so the point is we will never ever ever ever know whether or not it happened. Definitively findlay this is. This is he said she said to the degree and there is no way to prove it. I mean didn't they say that there were signals with whistling wrestling and then banging of a trash can and audio. I mean you can match up to the types of pitches that are being thrown and of course it's not one hundred percent that's how they did it but but it certainly it certainly a bird like a part of proof that you can potentially use. I mean listen. I don't think that the way that Mike fires went about this If you're really trying to call an organization out I don't necessarily think it was the smartest way to do this because I think it opens up a lot of questions and a lot of ways sort of mask what was actually done on but I certainly think that there. There's something when you go back and look at these games. That were played at home that it can certainly be. It could certainly partially be confirmed if not you know. Like three quarters of the way confirmed. That just doesn't hold up for me though three quarters three recorders of the truth is still not the truth. You know there's no way to say unequivocally that this happened or did not happen. Anything anything we're going to see any sound we're gonNA hear can be. You chalked up to coincidence a coincidence every time somebody throws it off speed pitch. Well it's not it's off speed pitches a change up for the record. So let's get your stuff correct banging on the dog that was. That was a change up but look I mean how do you prove it. How do you prove that's not ambient sound from the stadium? Because I don't know if you know this but the stadiums are noisy of course they are but you you you WanNa tell me and other sports and other and other scandals that we've always had one hundred percent. Definitive proof was deflate gate. One hundred percent definitive proof. Why is every scandal? The Patriots what is going on was was barry bonds one hundred percent definitive proof that he ever test positive for anything. I don't remember the year long ban. Barry bonds ever kicking in for steroid steroid use but that's widely considered one of those types of things. I mean The the the the idea that league needs one hundred percent definitive tentative proof to levy some sort of penalty for this. It's it almost insane ask. There's only certain times where definitive proof even actually really exists in these situations. Pete rose definitive proof. Alex Rodriguez definitive proof. The guy failed tests. I mean those are those are definitive proof things in baseball. But there's there's other scandals that that have never had the full you know we figured it out answer and the League still punish people. Yeah sure they have punished people but guess what this is an instance where definitive proof could have easily came if he if this this is true and he is not just angry team the let him go then he could have gone for the league and they could have audited the games and you could have proof proved. It was going on in real time but this is like I said it's he said she said it's a phrase but hurt former player who has an ax to grind against an organization. Did I did stealing science happen. Probably it happens in every single game every single one doesn't stop the fact that That it's going to happen in the next game either or the game after that out of the game after that we have stuff in baseball the time and at the end of the day nothing ever happens. Look at look at the red sox thing. Nothing came of that. You know Manfred even and said that it happened without the knowledge of the ownership or front office. Baseball wants to protect its teams. It's not it's not going to take a giant steaming dump on a world series reese champ. What's hilarious you said? Look at the Red Sox thing and baseball so irrelevant. I don't even know what you're talking about. I don't even know the the use of electronic equipment against the Yankees this issue again and guess what no one cares. This is this is like my I point. Exactly it's baseball. No one gives a shit. No yeah that is true. Nobody does care because it's baseball ball. But I still don't think that that means well nobody's GonNa care so we don't have to give any sort of you know to come up with any sort of ruling or fair punishment or anything like that to me to me. There's a difference in gamesmanship which stealing signs has always been a games. Men's gamesmanship thank. Jesus that's that's always been part of it. I remember Mick Bill Mayer the bullpen coach of the phillies being suspended and the phillies being fined for for stealing signs from the Citizens Bank Park bullpens in center field. You know several years ago. I mean these things happen guys get it. Caught and punishment has to be levied and this is something serious because you're talking about a team that statistically and was just just dominant at home this season if it did go on the entire season. You're talking about play offs playoff position. You're talking about seeding you're talking about. It's just a number of wins overall. I mean how much did they win their division by I know it was a significant amount and they let me go home field advantage. They didn't a and guess what. Here's what here's what it comes down to is. Even if they're stealing signs they still have to execute win. Games does give them a competitive advantage. Absolutely butts what's that system was allegedly halted prior to the postseason had happened only in home games and the Houston Astros one game seven on the road in Los Angeles they had they had to actually be able to win..

"houston astros" Discussed on The Ross Bolen Podcast

"Your balls will thank you Bumblebee Tuna. Well as a guy that gets to watch all play all the time That has been an astros fan. His whole life that grew up in. Houston I just just so not. Just you feel like you know but everybody on the team should know like y'all made the whole city so proud and it was so much fun to watch everybody play and this is not just let this this most recent season for years now and it's been it's been a pleasure so I hope nobody is going into the offseason with their head down to low in the city of Houston really embrace us as as a team. I think like you said embrace like all sports to see the support that that we've gotten just on even during the regular seasons like on daily basis has been has been really cool so I don't think anyone's going down With you know going down I definitely think logo disappointed and then wanted to give the the city and the fans that that moment care. We'll work for it again. Yeah no no and I mean I think that's the good part of it for me personally. I know you'll aren't done so wasn't this is the end. It was more like there are teams built that way there are some teams biller. It's it's you get this after. This season like the entire team will get dismantled in your like loops back at you know stage one though those times maybe the the disappointment it it lasts longer. Yeah I think for us will roll. Roll that calendar over the rockets are going to do their thing. Texans playing really well so We're in a good spot. What is Amway goes by the city in an organization feels good? I got a haircut Before coming in today because great because by comparison first of all you were hat. which did IT'S A? It's a fly hat but I'm disappointed because by comparison I would've looked like a homeless vagrant. Your hair stays pristine I I got I got yesterday. Got The beard shape. How often do you think chopped during the season when I'm actually pitching? Probably one Sir Max. Br to starts so every give more oven days okay. That's actually. Yeah during the off season like now I try to push that that like twelve to fourteen day mark but it starts getting Laura okay. I got like I went like four months and I was like Lance is coming in. I can't this is. He's got fly hair. I can't fucking fucking live and cut the top like the back. It's like the top of my hair's just pushed back in my hat for a long time like the beard and the the shapes got happen. Pretty Pretty Pretty Pretty Pretty. Yeah yeah pretty pretty frequently. Let's talk about the Rehab that you went that you had Tommy John Surgery on your right elbow last December last November November of Guy You spent all of two thousand nineteen in Rehab which you literally completed to two days ago. Yep Today's go first of all what is what's the finish line there. How do you know it's over done? Well it's over because I get to go home and go to the field anymore and keep rehabbing tells you that like who moved the team. The team you know it's it's everyone is my surgeon and the team mm-hmm and myself and how I'm feeling because you know typically if I was re if I would have had surgery in July I would still be in for like another month of Rehab technically but that month four to five weeks would be just pitching in games. Okay and getting ready for to come back to the big league games it would be like Rehab Games We're GONNA we used that time spring training. There's no reason for it. I was games right now to play winter ball somewhere And we felt like that my body is in is in a spot where spring training will be plenty for me to get ready for the twenty twenty season and then also I have a little bit of an off season because typically when guys had the surgery surgery your Rehab for twelve thirteen months. You go to your Rehab Games. He roar into the season. You keep pitching so Jesus. I've unique opportunity to still get a little bit of downtime. Nice bounce back and then you know put in the full year. Would it look like okay during the process of this year when you're going and doing the actual actual is that like physical therapy every day every day for real everyday so I had surgery On on November six twenty eighteen eighteen and I had to stay there for two days flew back to Houston was in Houston one day in the next doused rehab so four days after surgery. Start my rehab. My Rehab was literally my first holidays. Rehab was just trying to touch my fingers to each other like this right so so that's why I couldn't even do. I don't think people realize the intensity of that type of Rehab and how slow the builders so like you've been putting up these incredible videos view you got. You're getting your pitches back right. Yeah you put up the one yesterday of hitting all three and it just it. I almost achieved direction watching video. That's always been such. It's a fascinating thing to me. You get hurt you have the surgery and then nobody gives a fuck fan wise until you're back. Yeah Right. Nobody's asking house. Of course I ask because I care and but most people are not like Lantana coming in November. That's the only reason But no it's like it's not a thing that people keep in mind the the consideration. How much work you have to put in and how much it is unenjoyable now. That is not fun work. Yeah no it's not I mean I. Have you know I had stretches. I had days where you know you. I'm not going to give up. But there's definitely there's definitely go these flows where you are. Are you know maybe a little depressed you you feel like a little bit of an outsider. Feel you know I kind of walking this journey alone Brian. Dom is hard to show to the ballpark some days. It's hard to show up. been get your work in and you know what the whole teams out there. Doing the think you're there from one o'clock in the afternoon you have to get their their earliest to make sure your rehab done on and then you're rehabbing from one to five or so and then you you have to watch the game from seven to eleven so I mean there are long. Days is in the summer long hard depress days. But you know all in all I I had a great support system in my wife's here in the corner and You know I had people bowl people holding me up and pulled me up checking on me and making sure that everything was going well so that support went a long way and the team was doing well which had to have helped a little bit. I mean it would have been. I feel like it's more teams. Have no because the atmosphere still is still lively. You know what I mean like you. You go to work every every day and people are still happy. Team sucks and you're going through this and everyone just miserable eclectic palling over it you know but we're going to get back to this bunch of losers. Yeah right so it keeps motivate a man like you guys go out there and be successful. And you're like man. I I wanNA feel that again. I'm going to be part of that. So it keeps go for sure at what point during the playoff run this season because it might have been earlier but I noticed during the playoff run you decided like we'll fuck it if I can't play I'm going to do what I I can to make. This is exciting for the fans as possible. And you were doing going above and beyond out of your way to hook people up with t the pegged in the back and the urinal the Yankee stadium hooked hooked him up with tickets The kid who got memed to death because he was the Career Surrender Cobra on TV and then they kept going back to that same kid over and over which which like hilariously on twitter like I think his brother listen to my show and like I was tweeting about that kid so then his he started tweeting his brother who's going viral. And then by the end of the day it was. That kid was fucking every. What made you decide? Like I'm GonNa try to do some stuff the fans and make this make this fun for them since I can't play I don't know I mean I I feel like dudes don't do that. You should be commended for real. Yeah I don't know I felt like you know the like the dude in the the urinal or the guy that was walking up the stairs and you know it was getting unlike beer and beer per autumn and getting spit on their this. They're trying to up their team. You know what I mean. And then the other kid was just like a sea of Yankees fans and every time the camera cut it to him he was like cheer. Cheer his ass off for our team so my these are like Houston people to like. They flew up there. Yes not cheap. The God hotels they bought tickets to the game and like their experience is being ruined. And I've had experiences in New York. You know when I pitched and I've had things said to me and beer. I'm the player so there should be more hatred or meat in. There should be just why you hate on that guy for where he was born early roles for Yeah I'm like you know what I'm going to reach out to these people. Try to try to make it right. Now get him get him to the world series and just show the fans that you know that that that we care and that that I care will though was That was a wise move your you. You're very a good at showing appreciation back to the fans who is showing appreciation to you which is very. It's an incredibly important part of sports. But it's also something that's like really tough to juggle an example being like obviously in his post-game Presser after game seven hundred Garrett Cole went an awkward route. I'll just say that an awkward route for the way that he handled the question that wearing the Boris cap doing everything that he did was awkward. It just made it. It was like it was kind of a shocking move for fans fans that the game ended. We're all heartbroken still and then you're like Oh man what the fuck. But it's like you have to. I understand that that's a balance right like as a as a professional athlete you have to weigh maintaining your brain and you're standing with the fans but at the same time you're attempting to build like your personal personal value in. This is your career at the end of the day. It's your livelihood. Yeah so if I like I'll give you just straight up like my honest truth was that I was obviously pissed off like most of the fans were people were upset that was like as Astros Fan. You're like Fuck Garrett Cole but then I given a couple of days to think about it look I get that. It's not as simple as it seems seems for me right. So how do you balance that like. Because you have to take care of you right. I mean at the end of the day you're Lance mccullers. Junior man this is your life you have a family. You're about to have your first this child like it's about you but you're also part of a team and you have to sort of like I mean how do you that would be the most challenging thing for me. I think if I was you I think I think you know. I think it is hard for fans to understand. I think there's something fans went through last year with Dallas as well. I mean you know no. There's no Kaikal Douse Cairo. Yeah there was no City with no no. No no no no Kaikal you know we we as athletes you know even if we only know one teams like Taos new one team his whole his whole six seven years here was the astros did amazing things in an astros legend. Yeah he is and he didn't want to leave the Astros Astros. There's there was no want in him leaving. It's just how it goes. Sometimes I think fans have a hard time understanding. You're recognizing kind of the business side. Because they're not in it and I get it because even even me being in the business side. I still sometimes have a hard time recognizing that it's thing as a fan who lives somewhere in and go so so hard for their team most the time. That's the only team you're going to know as the only people you're going to cheer for your it's more about the logo than it is as the player sometimes and so. It's just a fine line that you have to walk as a player because like you want to represent the city you WanNa represent the organization which can't get lost in the fact that like you also have represent yourself not saying that there are better ways to handle it then other ways and there are some things that you know happen that were disappointing but but You know at the end of the day. I don't think anyone is really making decisions. Trying to like. Throw big middle finger up like the organization or or the fans. It may a happened in the moment because sometimes things are sticky and they happen. Quick sure but It's a hard. It's a hard balance to to walk but at least while I'm still under contract back for for two more seasons you know I'm Gonna I'm GonNa make sure I always try to represent Houston in the in the best way. Will you do a fantastic job. I but I just like I felt.

"I GonNa make a team because if I'm not I'm going to go home because I need to make money because spring training. We don't make any money any money so no money so the money is running out right about midway through spring training. I got nothing Carolina's. Get rid of. Have this baby in Jeff's like no. You'RE GONNA you're. You're making the team. You'RE GONNA go to double A. and I was like sweet. Yes like I've made it. You know like I made the Big League Aa Leagues. You all everybody talks about is making they can double edged up ball. Yeah get out of a ball. People get called up from double a the big league so it's like you get that one step away right so when he you told me that. I was like wow I made it you know was able to pitch really well and double A. That year in two thousand twelve. We had a really a good team a lot of big leaguers on that team until Sir in got went up to AAA and for me. I never thought about making the big leagues it's like. I I remember telling this sometime to somebody about when I was in like little league. All I wanted to do was play from high school team. I wanted to play for thought. Oh Hi a one of the where the green and white be a tiger like those guys looked up to right and when I got to high school all I wanted to do was play frail issue. Those guys looked like I never had like a big league team or a big league player that like that's what I wanted to be. It was always just like the next level you know and then when I got into Lsu what until my senior year when these teams started talking to me. I was like Oh man. Maybe I can play professional baseball. I hadn't really thought about it and then once I got in freshman baseball was all about pitching being well enough to go to the next level and so when I finally got to triple a two thousand twelve it was like wow the next level is the big leagues you know and I was like I never really thought about it right so yeah but it was you know we're one of those like cliche stories where we had completely run out of money and Caroline I had I had had my daughter already at this point. She was young obviously and we she called me one night was was like we were completely out of money and she didn't have money to buy diapers and so we had to call my uncle to borrow a couple hundred bucks so she could go to the store and Njit. She was crying on the phone that day. In that night is a night that I got called up to the big leagues crazy crazy the time that is nuts how that happens golly that but it is like a Kinda poetic thing in a way because spent all these years grind and you've got to do all of this extra work in the season and in the offseason both you and your wife have multiple oh jobs and then Bam as soon as the through the money runs out and it was it was like an overwhelming like intimidate experience for me too because I had never been into big league camp had never backed up any big league games right so like I don't know anybody. I don't know I mean I didn't know anybody in the team not on the coaching staff like so so I walk in the Dugout in San Francisco and got called up and people are looking at me like who's this guy who who are you who is this. It's like wear name tags yeah I I know I don't know y'all watch on TV. You know like I don't know who I am so so yeah I mean I I felt really Kinda. OUTTA my league to start who you know like the whole people talk about now like rookies like you're pitching to like the back of people's baseball cars and not to the actual individual. Ah Without a doubt did that it was rookie. Do you remember facing somebody being like how am I supposed to get this guy out. I'll never remember facing Philadelphia and you face in Chase Utley Jimmy Rollins and Ryan Howard you know and just being like I don't know what I'm doing. These guys like are GonNa. Eat Me Alive you know and they did a lot of the odds really struggled about my rookie year because I just didn't. I didn't think that you know I didn't think I belong. I guess yeah so you know. Confidence goes a long way in sports for sure especially in baseball doubt right. I like guys like you and I like not being the hardest throwers fake it. You know figure out what you're doing. Better Kazuki pretty deep pretty quick. My coaching college always used to say hey. You're going out. There and you don't know whether you're going to have shotgun her salt rifle or pocket knife knife but you gotta fight with whatever you got so if you've got a pocket knife you'd better come out swinging. You and I feel like we've been doing that for years now. That's a good analogy. I like that I mean. We've kind of got this very similar stories. Once we got to the big leagues got thereafter a lot of a lot of time and tribulation in the minor leagues but pitch really well in the minor leagues come through and then got to the big leagues and struggled struggled struggled for a couple of years what from the rockies to the diamondbacks I went from the mets to the rockies so we like just missed each other in that little time period but then you pitched really well with Arizona I remember in twenty fourteen I had gotten picked up by the Astros and I was pitching with the Astros and throwing the ball pretty well and you're pitching with with Arizona and after that season I remember looking at the transactions and seeing your name pop ups in claim by way claimed off waivers and me me and obviously a lot of other people your team and across baseball were like why. Why did you get designated. Why is Arizona kind of giving up at this point 'cause he had thrown the ball well but we were lucky enough to claim you with the Astros. Yeah there was a lot of turnover in Arizona. At that point they had changed managers. They were changing managers is that you know they. They were also a lot of different things changing directors and so in that turnover. I just think they were looking to get guys is in there that they wanted you know and me. I was just kind of a casualty of that and I remember I had. I had a buddy who is in the front office with the MARLINS. At the time I was working out in the off season and he's like he gives me a call and he's like hey man your own waivers. I was like what because I had already been the waiver process with Colorado right and got picked up Arizona's the best thing that ever happened to me. Goto place got to pitch you know almost two full years in the big leagues with Arizona Pitch Pitch. Well and I'm like really I'm on waivers. He's like they don't tell you when you WanNa tell me he just knew because he was in the front office correct so he was able to give me a heads up up like hey you're coming off today at one o'clock eastern so right in my time in Louisiana so I'm sitting there in my kitchen and my house my all right so I go work out and you know let caroline know. Let's keep a couple of my buddies. No whatever family like hey I'm on waivers now. It's like any wacky going anywhere karate nine other teams and sure enough get a phone call from Arizona and the I think I don't remember who it was assisted the GM it wasn't it wasn't Dave Stewart who call me but just kind of told me hey I was reclaimed by Houston. You know best the locker. Whatever and I was like all right. You know I remember just kind of being like I remember asking him. My Hey like why did you put me on waivers. You know he kind of beat around. The Bush didn't really tell me just kind of didn't really have anything for me but it's kind of like look man like ours. You wouldn't worry about it. You know like I'm pretty sure like all twenty. Nine teams actually claimed you. That's kind of cool yeah so find out. It's the Astros Call Carolina my hey you could pick anywhere from me to go play. Where would it be. She's like I guess aside picked Houston. I was like well believe it or not. We're going Houston so it. Kinda worked on one of those situations where I tell guys this all the time like I told Taylor white the other day. I said you taller guy designate. I said Look Man Alive in here. have been have been designated. K A lot of us and I've been designated twice and both times or three times I said in an all three times on is the best thing that ever happened to me so it's like you never know what's on the other end of of what you've got coming so don't don't don't don't take take it as a negative right you know just wait and let things play out for sure so yes so it turned out great for me and go to spring training with Houston thinking. I'M GONNA to make the team and then I get there and it's like I wasn't. I was not planning on making the team and this joke all the time but you know Josh fields his hamstring. I'm I'm here appreciate it failed to negotiate a man he folded Hammy with like two days ago and spring training and I got to make the team and then just kind of you know realize my back was against the wall and the second that he was GonNa get come off the DL. It probably was going to be my spot. He was gonNA come after and was able to pitch well enough to where you know kind of saying. I didn't Arizona when I got caught up zone was for JJ puts his elbow and so usually on that you're on your on borrowed time when those kind of situations you see the writing on the wall sooner this guy's coming off the fifteen day or whatever it is like. I'm going back to the minor leagues unless you can turn enough heads and make yourself important enough that they can't send you down right and both of those cases I was able to like I said timing and health like the timing of pitching really well allowed me to stay both times so you know it worked out and now I have a couple numbers for you. Since coming to.

"Dave quit cow scheme. Welcome back to know the episode of our off season preview today, we are going to be covering the Houston Astros. We have Cody from climbing towels hill, Cody good, I'll jaw doing great. Thanks for. Thanks for coming on. And being a part of this today. We'll disclaimer we have a little audio issue going on today. So for sounds a little odd. Don't worry about it by the time. Our next episode roll around we'll be back to normal on that for new people listening to the podcast. We kinda go over each team. We're going to go over position by position basically, the meat and potatoes of the roster. We're over catcher all the way down into the starting five and the bullpen. And speaking of that we're just going to get off and start with the catcher, Cody, you're catching situation last year was a little different. You had a bunch of people on the plate. You had some injuries. You had guys come in specifically to try and beat fast teams like the Red Sox with mal. Auto who's gonna be the opening day roster who's going to be the opening day starter on the roster for the Astros this year. Those doesn't interesting one right now mainly due to the fact that as you probably are aware right now JT really Mutola Marlins has been heavily leads Astros in various trade talks, so far the Astros have shown reluctance to part ways with the top prospects to get him. So right now the top two catchers on the roster is a max Tassie. Who's holdover from last year? He's been national system since a choir from the as back in thirteen and other one's a recent Saini Robinson Chenier owes who played for the Rangers for the last couple seasons. Right now, you kinda got max Tassie, who's kind Caserta defensive wiz on the club. He was one of the best. Framers per baseball perspectives last year, then you got Roberson Chenier owes who's not really know for his framing. But he's got a pretty good bat. So if you combine those two you got the idea catcher, but. Take a guess right now. I unless something changes on the real neutral front. I I soon it's going to be probably staffy. Yeah. I would say as well in Torino's in his last year deal. We'll just kind of southern then when he can and give them a deal. He has a great contract. So he's well under controlled. So that makes sense. I mean JT real needle put this team over the top. Right. I mean with all the great pitching. You guys have currently bullpen starters. And obviously all superstars two bregman. And all those guys I can see that happening. It's a little bit of a weak point. Probably the only weak point four you guys when it comes to bats. But I can see you guys making a run for JT real Muto. I just don't know what you're going to give up teachers asking price for it, which I don't think junior should really lower either. Because you know, he is probably the best catcher in baseball right now. Oh, yeah. Removes it will be the real deal. You would help elevators tint so whole 'nother level specially in the line of, you know, goes back in seventeen the catch was a little bit of a straight because you mcken who actually of an okay, you're with the bat and then Evan got his. But you know, that's for two years later is a different look at position. And the only catch with. I if the Astros I have a feeling that they're willing to include Karl talker for real Muto. I have a deal what happened fast. But the only other concern I have in my mind is how much more with the Marlins push for and especially in light of the returns got for Marcel Zona and GIO Carl STAN last year. I imagined some teams maybe kind of hoping we'll made the Marlins asking price will drop at the eleventh hour, and they're like, oh, we really probably do you make a move..
