"We want unscripted things. That's why we love sports so much like the last four minutes of the show. Yeah, yeah, I don't know if that'll make the best of. Not enough three topping. And, and the thing is, is that we love sports, because it's unscripted and I think that's why people have felt like they didn't like the NBA playoffs this year the season as a whole because they felt that it was scripted. Right. They felt like it was just Golden State Watson through and whatever their, they're quote unquote locked in, like Draymond said, no one's going to beat them. However, like game of thrones a lot of times. Hey, what something unexpected happens new challenger has arrived? And I feel like that new challenger can be the Milwaukee Bucks. And I'm I'm hoping for Jaanus, right? I'm hoping that, that they don't have to extend any unnecessary energy against the raptors. And I, I hate to pull four sweeps. But I think that's the only way that you get an opportunity to see a very competitive entertaining NBA finals is that the bucks sweep the raptors Golden State sweeps Portland. And we have the two big game. Thrones. NBA Ariz coming together for one final huge battle and be here for all of it. Yeah. I mean, I think it's a great point by you Peter. Like if you look at this series, let's say, Milwaukee goes to six or seven games against Toronto. The vast majority of people are going to look at the finals, and say, all right. Golden say it's gonna win. I mean, my supposed to believe in Milwaukee after going six or seven games against that Toronto team if Milwaukee continues to just destroy Toronto over the next couple of games. And they walk into the finals bolt teams finishing up their sweeps in the conference finals. Then I do think that sets up a Goliath versus Goliath kind of matchup in the people's eyes. Hopefully hopefully Milwaukee would be there at that point, I still think people will favor Golden State because, you know, Golden State, but Milwaukee sweeping Toronto would make that final series much sexier also remember. Ho Cogan, we'll make it sexy tonight. When he wins money in the Bank in the six dragons will be monster. When snow dies and Danny ends up being on. Six. Bless their little hearts. It includes a dead bird and Gulf that next best week ever. Breaking team to beat.

I think that was the dad joke. He was going for a little blue than regular dad joke. But they wanted to get in there. Right. Don't forget, you're wrong. Not for your opinions. Sure. But I like on this one this one specific and not to mention that this doesn't stop people ever from doing this. So I'm just looking here, right? Hey barrett. Would you mind getting me a glass of water, please? Yeah. That's more context on it. I guess. Yeah. Fendi was since Greg says, he isn't isn't that familiar? Very familiar with the PD pie with buy ins. Here's some insight to him saying the N word on the incident. He says it onstream when someone kills him in game seemingly by accident thinking about it in the moment, he realizes what he said in brushes it off hoping no one heard it on utterly inexcusable. There was calm. Did he talked about it after the fact, right? And again, don't get me wrong. Anyone in anyone in any game ever could kill me. And I would never jump to the N word. Now, that's I wouldn't either. And there's which then gets into thing of that. Does that mean you use it like, you know, what I mean, there's a whole context that people were trying to make about why he used it in how because he's Swedish. And he doesn't understand the connotation of that word, quite frankly, I've heard from a lot of Europeans that are like we use that word all the time. I'm like, that's not cool. Not cool that. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean, he apologized for he knows. It was wrong. He's not gonna do it. Again. It goes back. All this always goes back to for me. Right. And I cannot speak for either. Why can't thank you? Yeah. I can't speak for either Nacho appears in the situation. Right. But I I remember distinctly when ho Cogan, right and all that stuff happened. And he said the word, obviously, knowing in the horrible horrible context in this phone, call, and blah, blah, blah, you know, story, but more importantly that when he was when he got a raise from the hall of fame or when they were starting to bring him back and putting them back on stuff new day put out a unified statement so Kofi Vier in biggie. That was multiple things right in basically, it was like they're not happy about it. They're not they're not happy about it. They're not sad about it. It's just how it is. Obviously Hogan's vital the history wrestling, then they were like, the here's the thing for us. It's not about saying you're sorry about your actions backing that up. So he's done these things we're going to watch and like the rest of the world and see what it means. And what that? Shows the shakes out to and so that's the only way you can judge any of these things and how they are if if not just still being an asshole on Twitter. Okay. Then you know, how he stands and who he is. And what he does. And from what I what I understand with occur satori knowledge of looking through today or whatever. Right. It seems like that's still thing. He still on unapologetically notching gonna say what he wants to say does do we want does what he wants to do pupae even way way way, less Acas. It's all about his content rather than about how some few tweets you can actually look to. But again, it seems like with both the. Adele, signing paid for saying.

I'm taking you for every bit tooth and nail about ho- Cogan you ever read into the whole Cogan deal. However, whole Cogan loss. Like, I think he lost like you have to look it up. But I think seventy percent of what he what he had and his chick. I think from what I understand ended up with a younger Holt version, blonde hair big guy, you know, what they say they say the first time you marry for money. And then the second time you marry for love for women right because they take half the money on the first run the rich. And now they can beat someone actually if you choose right Mary once she was time for for money. And then love you. You know, what they really say? Is you you you you spend your youth chasing money for men you spend your youth chasing money, and you spend your money. Chasing, youth fact. Oh my God. So unfortunately, true. It is true. I've another one that goes the scene some happy rich guys man out there. There's there's another one where they say, you could always lose money chasing girls, but you'll never lose girls chasing money. True. Very true, bro. Girls can smell ambition. Absolutely. As they should that should be a good thing out when people talking about like, oh, you gotta watch out. 'cause I came from from nothing, you know, built my way up into the fight world, which still wasn't the greatest even as a world champion. It wasn't the most lucrative thing in the world. And people are always saying, you gotta be careful. People are going to be coming out of the woodworks and this and that and I feel like I'm a good judge of character. And on top of that, I never really had a problem with with females in the first place. So for me, it was like an expansion of of you meeting people in they I mean sure did things get easier. If you're on TV, but it's still I kind of the same, and you have to have a good sense of of, you know, personalities somebody in it for the right? And whatnot. And that's up to you to be able to judge that character. I don't you know, I don't blame a girl for for liking a successful guy. You know, my my dad had him Bishen. My mom has Embiid. Ambitions attractive agree is there is kind of switching topics a little bit. Is there? A is there a facade with the fight game? Like, you even mentioned that even when you're the world champion. It wasn't as lucrative as I would assume most people think is there a facade when it comes to being a fighter. Why why does a kid in high school want to grow up to become a UFC fighter? I mean guys at fight. And you took a fight. You didn't have to you took a fight against another guy in you knew felt the energy from it. You know, you got the satisfaction of landed all out on the line. But there's something internally in goes back to the wrestling side. And I I was looked at my wrestling criminals. "You're listening to. Get it. Investor's edge. Yes. Unfortunately, we have to talk about these things. So there is an op Ed today. From somebody by the name of Ryan Castelo. He was a Republican Representative from Pennsylvania. I think is just ended from two thousand fifteen to like last week. He is now get this a managing director of Americans for carbon dividends. Four pillars a robust and rising carbon fee returning all the money raised directly to citizens on a quarterly basis. A carbon fee. But not just any carbon feet carbon tax whatever you wanna call it. One. We give to the government yet. They're telling us. Oh, don't worry. We're just gonna dole it right back out. Oh, really? So we send you a dollar. You're going to give a dollar out. Oh, that's right now. No now. Because they're gonna make up a big committee that has another committee in another committee and hire tens of thousands of their best friends and pay him ridiculous amounts of money, and you give a dollar they'll send back a dime as a dividend on carbon, ladies and gentlemen. Listen carefully. When you watch one of these dolts on TV talking about what used to be global warming. But now climate change. You will notice they never talk about. What's already happening already going green? Do you know over forty percent of our energy now is not from petroleum products? Without a carbon tax. And it's going to go even more and more and more as we move forward. So why do we need a carbon tax? Oh, that's right. More government. Given us a colonoscopy and ripping us off. Social security. We put money into social security they stole it. We only get paid our social security from workers today the Ponzi scheme. Yet. They now want a carbon tax even a Republic. Con is calling for one. And somehow he's on a group of people are Americans for carbon dividends I wonder how much he gets paid to be the director of Americans for carbon dividends. Oh, I'm sure a crapload of money. So. As I told you I am a bigger environmentalist than all these people put together. Bicker. You see I don't tell you what you have to do. And then get on a private jets. Bernie Sanders flies private jets. Now. You know, the socialist, you know, my socialist caulk their only socialist with your money with their money. They are complete and utter capitalists. How can Bernie Sanders? Fly private jets. You can't do that. Because he wants a carbon tax, but he flies in private jets. How can that be how can they be so hypocritical? And get away with it. I've yet to see one person interview Bernie Sanders and say how the hell would anybody listened to you on climate change lands global warming and want to pay you a tax for it? When you're flying private jets. Mr sanders. I haven't heard one of those. We called Bernie Sanders office. We asked for anybody in his administration. If that's what you call it to come onto the show. And we told them what the question was going to be that question. What about the expletives? They turned us down. But I asked them then off the record well on the record. How can you tell anybody to anything about higher taxes and socialism and global warming and climate change when he is in private jets? You know what I heard? You know, what the next sentence was right? Click. These apart of the people that are running our country. Yet want more money from you guys and me. Lipa creeks. Elizabeth warren. Lies about our heritage to make big bucks. Yep. She wants higher taxes from you. And then tries to cover our lie with another light. Remember, we told you about lies you lie. Once you got to cover it a second time. And then nobody's gonna believe you when you get that reputation. So whenever Lisbeth Warren speaks to verify whenever Trump speaks. I have to verify reputation of lying. So we just give you an understanding could go read the op-ed lesson from two thousand eighteen Republicans must deal with climate change. This is a guy named Ryan Kostelic who just happens to be the managing director of Americans for carbon dividends. And we have two words for him. And they are not happy birthday. A republican. I really didn't see any future in it. Of course. Eric gave it a future sharing pre HOGAN pre end. W? Exactly. Exactly, right. We were doing some good things. But I just didn't think that I could turn it around Bill Shaw. Who was the the guy Turner Broadcasting who everybody answered to had told me he said, I've got a proposal from Eric. And I got a proposal from Keith Mitchell. I haven't heard from you yet. It's an okay. So I typed up something like five or six pages or whatever and says, what was your proposal? I can't even I can't even remember. Bobber puzzle is I'll take a five year. No cut contract. I'm outta here. An era got it. Because he really wanted an Eric. And I were very good friends. So he had he had ideas in place, he really had ideas in place. And I remember him telling me that he's got a big idea that he thinks we're really jump start this company. If Turner will go for it. And what that eventually was was offering ho Cogan a contract where he has full control over his character or for control of what he does in the huge percentage of pay per view, buy rates and exactly basically company. Yeah. Exactly. So, but the the key was that he could offer HOGAN what Vince could not offer him. It would not offer him and that is full control creative control control. Wow. And I didn't know he was talking about HOGAN. But I knew had something big in mind. So of course, it was HOGAN, would you mentioned if turn it would go for it was I mean, the Turner exacts or Ted Turner himself. I I'm thinking the Turner executive. Ted was really hands off. Yeah. I never thought. I would have seen them write a low life guy. Right. I mean, did you ever see him around at all income to the shows never came to the shows? He met with us as a company Christmas time in nineteen ninety one or ninety two just like we went to the Omni hotel at a ballroom. He came in. Wave smile and wave and he said, I know we're losing money. So that, you know, hell CNN lost money all these years. So we're we're hanging with this. Don't worry about it and everybody clapped, and I never will forget that big van Vader said Mr. Turner, could I have your autograph on thinking? Come on Leon that could be a big baby. I mean, he was like a little kid Mr. Turner, could I have your autograph? So that was the only time we we saw the only time now I'm sure that that Eric and Bill Shaw had contact with insure, right? But he was when we get that level. There's a probably thirty or forty different companies or you know, legs of his business that he's dealing with. Right. Yeah. Exactly. What was the impact on HOGAN? I came in was it was it big or because he was kind of a little bit like people weren't as crazy format. I or or maybe as time went on from what I recall. Well, I think that there's no question that it put a lot of attention on on us. There's no question that if you go back and look at what we were doing business wise by rates and engage receipts before HOGAN and after HOGAN it really ticked up. I don't think there's any question because it was a huge coup at the time. I mean, hocus still very bright, very big, very popular. Right. "Back to the game. You're thinking Manchester United is out because the road, but what hap- eighty six minutes. So this was close to end game. Here motto with the goal for United. But then in the ninetieth minute we had an own goal. Yes. Alexandra believe was it was center that had committed an own-goal, which wasn't really his fault. No it just hit him as going in. But it's giving on his record that he scored on his own team. You know, what I technically he cost his team the game in when it comes to the recap and the box score. Yeah. The ball hit him. He can do anything about it. But unfortunately, he's the man that's gonna get credited with the goal. But the important issue here is. Marino the coach of Manchester United. He's been under fire. Lately. Will he be fired is a question that we've all been wondering, you know, he makes to critical substitution that game. Mata comes on the game. He scores a goal off a free kick. Then he puts in full Laney Filini is the difference maker in that own-goal. He was the nuisance. He created a problem in those two substitution 's where the difference in the game. And for all the flack that marinas been getting lately you have to your cap to him this time because he made two critical decisions that got his team three points on the road against possibly the best team in the world. I mean, they have a good explanation of why the best team event is wise manages United has been team that you could see has fallen off a little bit as last couple years have been on. Yes. Especially with Manchester City rising up away above them. And so this win is a huge Mark for that club. Definitely against a t. It's a statement game. Yeah. There's like, hey, I'm still here after the game arena. Went onto the field in Taunton. The Juventus crowd with his hand on his ear asking saying I can't hear you because he had been eating vogue. He ho Cogan them. Yeah. He did the whole colon. You know, posing fans will always have chance and jeer the opposing players manager. So he went out there and said, I can't hear you. Now, you know, so he gave him one of those. He probably heard some horrifying things. And then some Juventus players didn't like that. And some of them approach Marino to tell him to get off the field and marinas always want to be in the spotlight. Always be in the middle of the drama. There's always that one game your team that you're just like. Okay, shot it shut coach, right? Sometimes just says coach gets a little excited. Yeah. So all in all though, the result is what matters. It was a massive result in Manchester. United qualifying for the second round. We know that if they don't qualify out of the first round, it would be a huge huge failure. And probably lead to the firing of Marino. You know, he may be let go at some point regardless. But that would excel rate that he was all about that. I don't hear you. Because this is my last stand probably is my biggest win my my coaching better. Take this in as much as I can. Yeah. Absolutely. So they get the massive massive win there. And they move on. They do play. Young boys and Valencia in their last two games. So if they can get the win over young boys, but maybe I'm gonna say type or Lindsey against once. And that's all basically all they would need if they draw and they win against young boys. They're in. Yeah. So I don't see them losing the boys though deal. No, not at this stage. No, not with this. They're writing away right now. Now, we'll get into their last game. They did play in the Manchester Darby this week that didn't and as well for them as Juventus game. We'll talk about that next segment, but. What's move onto the other game Valencia in young boys? They did play each other. Yes of Lancia won this game three two one three one. Yes. So they they would have preferred if Manchester United lost. So they could have jumped them, right? But but Meena had two goals this game..

That was back when I used to used to watch I wasn't watching wrestling them. But when he turned and that happened it created the N W O, which was this you'd juggernaut and got me back into it. But I mean, it was like the most perfect. It was the last great storyline in wrestling. Where for months, I you had hall kind of come into WCW say, oh my God. This guy works for the WWE. It's it's an angle and then Kevin Nash came in. And then they built up their mystery partner, and it was HOGAN sting and Luger were the good guys. You know, here's five things you need to know about Hogan's career. But they didn't mention it on raw smackdown. They didn't celebrate. It wasn't in replays. It's it's almost like it. Never happened. Yeah. That's interesting that okay. Maybe this was the one and done, and this was something the Saudis wanted and they delivered, but they're still not backing the whole coke and business. You know? I mean, that's one of the things when I reached out to them for comment to confirm that he was going to be on the show that I got the no response, which means no comment, and they weren't touting that going in. They didn't how coming out of it. And so, yeah, I don't know if it was just they didn't want to draw more attention to Saudi Arabia in general. They didn't want to. I mean, they doubled down on the controversy. I was exchanging notes with somebody who's worked for the company that just was saying, this is classic big man, you have one controversy so swoop swoop into another controversial thing, and you can get away with it that way you're down on the controversy. And so that person so Briggs actually what it was. And so now, I mean, there's not the first time in a you got that out of the way by bringing HOGAN back the way he did. I I don't know. I I don't other than pleasing the Saudis. I just don't know what they think they get out of a relationship with hulk HOGAN and twenty eight. Eighteen I agree. And I think I've I've said this all look there are there's nobody that I know in power in that company who feel strongly about wanting ho Cogan to be sell his legacy to be celebrated beyond anything that is just a self serving to help WWE draw some money or draw rating. There's nobody advocating for him on a personal level. He doesn't have that relationship in that company. I don't think with anybody. No, I mean inches been on and off on him for years now..

"Deb singles, words zaps it. Some of it in those are the words of swagger, and that's what Trump responded to. I've wonder where Trump would be today had he not witnessed that zip Coulter Jackson bigger promo because it's funny where Zep says, I think I inspired his whole his. We'll make America great campaign and that very moment. Really, really amazing. I actually remember being there for that and him kind of spitting out the word which background it was definitely a connection there, but I think you know when whenever Trump was around wrestling, there's something that resonated whether it was something intended to beget he'll move, but but did end up getting over with people who enjoy chanting the words, but even going back farther to seeing ho Cogan person who personify America you know has as incident in the nineteen eighties and wrestlemainia seven. The most patriotic of all wrestlemanias there was a zero that are, and most importantly, that black and white good vs evil, which was simple to understand and to convey and really place to his car and base. What since Donald Trump was elected since Linda McMahon was appointed to his cabinet. What has surprised you about how WWE has. Reacted to this because you write about it and you chronicled a lot of instances in your book about how wrestlers reacted Sasha banks. Camera boy, did she was negative on social media? Exhibitor woods, I think is one who tweeted a sad emoji on number of other people did critical Braxton's on both sides erection Trump, but we haven't seen a lot on the air for a WWE hall of Famer. WB hasn't done a lot with it. Even it seems like there's times where he would just call for there to be a clip Trump and it's not there. They seem to be very much to stay out of the political. You talk about how that was an edict from the beginning. What's your take on that? For them it. It's been impressive actually because they're not the company that had been prone to settle peas and being extremely careful. But over the last few years, they have become a lot more things a lot portrait. I think it's almost the relation of of Ventas dream of becoming like, Nate, you know where you wouldn't take it stand and they have been very cautious which which has been a very difficult balance where you have Linda McMahon being the administrator of the small business administration, and even down from wishing Vince McMahon, happy birthday and such. But the they haven't gone all in so to speak on at all, or even touch. Even looking at triple h during, you know, the days after the election, he was speaking cautiously and only somebody with the the credibility of. John sina speak out more when he went on a couple of talk shows was negative about Trump and talking about that America's for all people, but the WWE has been very track biff it and the. Oh, is Saudi Arabian controversy that they have been quite up in much political turmoil over the last few years when they made the decision to not celebrate or be political on television. That's a stark contrast to the get out. The vote campaigns that they did in having wrestlers tell fans to go out and vote. A cynic would say, well, most wrestling fans pull democrat, they pull. They pull a little more left than right. Maybe a lot more depending on the political climate and a cynic would say, well, Linda ran as a Republican, Vincent man, a supporter of Donald Trump. They don't want their Vance devote what's your, what's your theory on why they were so politically active well presenting themselves as partisan. 'cause I went to both political and democratic campaigns, and they also had both Republican democrat candidates speak on raw. Why have they pulled away from politics so much? I think they, you know, they could see the flip. In the country. If not before two thousand sixteen elections, at least after time to see how divisive it was. It didn't feel like many kind of on the fence of who they would vote for. And I think now just the time over the last few years, people could really wrap themselves up in a world where you have this sounding board of people who agree with you and focus on the same thing. Certainly we've seen in pro wrestling phantom, some people be only they follow might be wrestling Twitter, but you know the same goes for politics where your friends on safes book could be saying..

"Him wrestling. But if not, it'll be up within a week or two over on the YouTube channel. YouTube slash not Sam. He's in amazing shape. Like he looks like he's ready to get back in the ring right now. I would. I love to see Wade Barrett. Make a full-time return to WWE right now. I think that they can do great things. I mean, there are so many great matches that you can have with him, but he seems pretty good not doing that. You know, he's one of these guys. It seems like I'm sure there's a price that you could give him to do it, but it seems like he doesn't wanna return fulltime. That's pretty much what he said that he would. He would wrestle again and he could wrestle again, but he just doesn't want to do that fulltime schedule. And that's a deal breaker for a lot of guys and it's tough to blame people for, you know, it's a really difficult life. You have to really want to be doing that to do it, especially because you know, in WWE it's not like. You can make your money and then split, and that's kind of what Stu Bennett did right? Is that he made enough money that he didn't have to stick around. And then now he's just he's, he's still working. It's not set for life, but he doesn't have to work that full-time schedule. What I'm trying to say is that people don't have to work for WWE fulltime they want to. So if you don't want to, I guess it becomes a tough argument. But I, I hope that at some point he decides he wants that glory back. You know what I mean? He decides he wants to do that again because I think he's just awesome. I think he's really, really cool. And I think that he could do a lot. You know, we'll talk about in the state of wrestling. We'll talk about that list of factions the WWE put out, and if the nexus should be on that list or should not be on that list. But before we get into state of wrestling, I wanted to talk about the the turns that turns that are going on right now as we lead into Helena, Sal and WWE, and it's really. I mean, it's a weird time. So you know, I've been thinking more and more about the Charlotte, Becky relationship and it Helena, Sal. I think we're gonna learn a lot about what that relationship is. Personally. I think that the two, that Becky in Charlotte. Should be in a cage match at evolution. You know, I think that that evolution hopefully and that's going to be the next big pay per view that we start to promote once Helena sell? Well, I guess I think super showdown is before evolution, so we'll start pushing even harder on super showdown, I guess, but then evolution and I'm assuming we're going to do Charlotte, Becky at Helena, Sal, and then Charlotte, Becky at Suber showdown. And then those will be the two singles matches the summer slam was a triple threat. So I guess the rubber match would be evolution and hopefully that is a cage match. There's some kind of interference. I would imagine on Becky side unless you know. Having somebody interfere on behalf of Charlotte would at least not. It would be it wouldn't be going against the wave that's happening right now with the audience. You know, it's almost like the the story between Charlotte and Becky. In some ways, mirrors the macho man hulk HOGAN story going into wrestlemainia five in terms of everything that macho man said which true, you know, all the accusations that macho man made against hulk HOGAN in macho. Man's mind were true. The the I dunno of HOGAN actually had less in his eyes brother, but you know, all these instances of ho- Cogan kind of favouring Liz, like if you're hanging out with your buddy and he is being not cool to his girlfriend and then you start kind of trying to make her feel better. That's not that cool. Like it's a nice. Thing to do to the girl, but you're clearly taking the side of the girl over your friend which is gonna. It's gonna create. That thing it's gonna. It's gonna create animosity Hogan's behavior in the battles in what broke up the friendship between macho man and hulk HOGAN was not. Nothing right forgivable. Yes, but something that needed explanation as well..

"Dies. Podcast pod podcast pot. The podcast thought podcast podcast pod. The podcast pot. Welcome to tights and fights. The show that discusses wrestling with this Saturday and Larry that it deserves. I'm big Dan. Daniel ran for two like that. One. I am joined today by my fellow members of the nation of conversation. The one in a million dollar woman Lindsay kill. And our special guest Jensen the catch of the day. Carpe did not write that. I'll take a like it's the positive part of catch of the day. Not like, oh, it's a fish. We just had too much. No, this is definitely like yo, this is the catch of the day. In or cold and fresh. My fiance's name last name is fischel. And so everything we have basically, we've been buying a couple is out should be a fit like we, we've overdone, it seems okay. That's go home. Yeah, I want Tim salmon from the and I made to marry us. That's my goal. So it is just all fish. Oh, you already have like you're probably have at your wedding hashtag. Nah, I don't well hashtag fishermen or something. Now you're right now should focus fishing carp? Yeah. Something like that. Council because that's what we're doing now. Very specific podcast. If we just do hashtags for my wedding. You never know wouldn't be the first time. So Jensen before we get started, tell us about your wrestling fandom. How did you come into it? When did you start? I was a fan as a kid like over the top, like everyone was in the eighties, sort of the Sheik, HOGAN stuff, and I fell for it all rock and wrestling, you know, I, I was into everything buying merge. My parents took me to the sports arena to see Adrian donnas versus ho Cogan here in l. a. and I was just super into it mega-powers and I mean, I I didn't have pay per view. Growing up in my parents have a lot of money, so I wasn't able to do that. But I had heard that the neighbor next to us had a satellite dish and that you could get sad nights main event during a normal, our that would be awake. So I used to have to try to go to his place. I never what I was just it was always the toys and it was always a chase to try to be a bigger WWE fan and then attitude era. Obviously I was in college, so we watch that every Monday. And then. Wind up getting into any the WCW stuff, or is he w w because that was I was so west coast. I had never even been to the east coast that point and so is regional, but I knew it existed. I knew Heyman existed and stuff like that..

"You know, with the Steve almost and I was like, what's he gonna? Do you know what you're gonna do next? And you know what I thought you were going to say. I thought you were going to have put that in this. When you said I, the difference between Austin and Raines is I have no interest in, and then you pause and I thought he's going to say having a beer with them. Yeah. Yeah, right. I mean, I like they say that about presidential candidates like the president usually wins is the one you'd rather beer with. I don't think that necessarily, but I mean, if you look at history, there might be something to that. Yeah. So like with with rains, I just I think this big male demographic. They look to wrestling release. They wanna cheer a guy who they identify with and who they feel a kinship with. And I don't think rains gives that off at all where he'd be a cool guy to have a beer with now. Now that's the classic thing, right? It's supposed to be the guys wanna be you on the women want to be with you. Yeah. And you know, real on but big, look. I mean, he's a flat line. You know, he comes out and I'm like, you know, it's a little too robotic. At least John CENA. It's like the man, you know, even though they, they, you know, dressed like he was eleven. It was still. I love it. Yeah, you should. You should try stand up Matt. You should try. So in that came through on screen and off the next day, it's like seeing was just the man, you know? Yeah. And he was the perfect guy for that row. But I mean, you know, Roman, it's, but it's such a strange era too because it's like, you know, they just, you know, they just end there or I don't know if they signed it or not. But you know, the FOX deal was on the corner and it's like, you know, it's going to be more money than. You know cove in and Steve Austin, the rock ever generated combined or something, and it's, you know, the the the business is different than it's ever been need for top stars as unnecessary as ever been. It's just a strange brave, new world and pro wrestling or at least WWE that respect. But I mean, there is a, I don't know. I don't know if they could or need to have that another boom period or if that's even possible anymore. Like you know, ho- Cogan being on the cover Sports Illustrated and Saturday morning cartoons, and you know, box of cereal and stuff, Steve Austin being, you know, the, you know an icon of the era, you know, wrestling being like, can't miss, can't miss. I'm sure that they would like that. I'm sure that oxen USA and you know, w w network would like that and it would help things. But I mean, it's also. Thing to become so entertainment. I mean has come so teak and so- compartmentalized and there's so much of it and so much content out there and for each Khaini little demographic, you know, you're into this into that. You know, there is a show out there for you and it's the, he told necessarily need to have you know that huge, huge ratings draw anymore to survive. I don't know. It's an interesting thing. It's an interesting base now, you know what I mean? Like with wrestling and has its it has it's already it has it, you know, wrestling self is and you know, you take into account India wrestling and, and you know Japan coming over here and stuff like that. It's it's, it's as big as it's ever been. You know, certainly Indy wrestling is because it's ever been. So you know the territory's burned down. I don't even. I mean, it's hard to even defined where. Indy wrestling begins. It ends are wage for a while. I was sort of seen as well. It's the biggest indie group with good branding, and now they're selling out Madison Square Garden, right? Yeah. It's the fact that you know in, you know, all is about to be potentially a bigger you know, can then summers I might this where we're all day and we'll be at the star cast. We watch wrestling podcast Sunday. Awesome..

"Now, the fuck it the whole WCW bit. Nobody remembers this. I'm drawing a blank the fuck, and yet. Oh, any knows the fuck it yet. He, yes, I do. It was my next fucking Pat. You gotta follow up Mr. America with the death of HOGAN you. You go Mark that you take this one then. Well, all right. So Ron REEs also known as the yeti was brought in by WCW to play the monstrosity of a wrestler. I guess. I don't know what it was supposed to be a wrestler. Was he supposed to be just a an ominous here? I mean, the yeti yeti or is he a mummy? I'm not sure. Well, they brought him in to bring down ho Cogan in Ron Reese was just atrocious. They kind of had him wrapped all as a mummy would and the ring. And I don't know if he destroyed HOGAN as much as he dry them. Oh, he, he actually him in the giant sandwiched him and it was like he was getting DP for sure. Yeah. He just kind of an Eiffel tower. Yeah, Paul white. Had a man like a legitimate like front bear hug the, so that's okay. But then the yeti just kinda Moses on up. Now the yeti didn't really walk. He kinda shimmied which was even more creepy kind of positioning himself slowly behind HOGAN now because he's like a mummy. I mean, yeti just stuck his arms out straight and then just kind of started shimmying up to Hogan's backside really disturbing, but not as disturbing as the fact that they thought the yeti would get over as a character. One of the worst gimmicks that WW ever tried. It looked like shitty toilet paper route. Down in white discussing. It was athletic tape after a football game. They just went to a local high school in a Friday night. They're like, take your take your tape off and give it to this gentleman here yet. He smells like Nord's. That had to have been around the time that I started that I, that I jumped ship because I don't remember the yeti and I honestly, unfortunately think that I skipped most of the in w. o. stuff because at the same time WWF had the x. as their kind of answer and the one thing that people who are listening to this are screaming wrestling fans, that one phrase has not been mentioned at all yet. And we've already talked about the yeti and that's the dungeon of doom. Yeah. So we gotta start talking about the dungeon of doom if you bring up the yeti which was take all the bad gimmicks and put them all in the one little group, it was atrocious, but the massive group of eight guys and And I'm. some of these guys will come up again later, but. All right. So who start as it now? I'll go guide, Bo. I'm going for this one. I'm gonna go with. This was kind of I. I was kind of watching at this time but also kind of phase myself out of watching wrestling, but there's a character name. You gene in WWE. I think it was WWE at that time. Nick Dinsmore who's actually, I think he's very well respected wrestler, and he's trained a lot of very talented people to, yeah, but they bring him into portray a mentally handicapped character who was introduced in, oh four as the nephew of then raw general manager, Eric Bischoff. So they gave him. So he's he's mentally handicapped, but he's they give him this kind of like savant. Facet to his character where outside of the ring is, you know, mentally challenged, but inside the ring, he's like this really great technical skilled wrestler and everything. And he just like racks up these victories racks Wrexham kind of the opposite of what they did before with the Festus. Exactly. Yes. Yeah. So the whole gimmick, I mean. It just rubbed people kind of the wrong way. But for some reason, there was longevity to it because it stuck around for like three years. Yeah, years and yeah, I, I remember feeling weird about it watching it. I was like, that's it's just, I mean, come on. Hey, to it's a little too much like was probably somebody that's like all. There's some hard at the at the at the core of this character. But at the same time, it's just like no. No messed episode Bischoff calls him special..

"No in you know as as the headline in the wwe right but also by the force of this guy just being like i'm not going to stop right it's for me one of the most inspiring show business books that's great yeah i think about what that book is yeah because foley and i i'm sure you know him well i know make a little bit and i love him just like the guy in the book hundred percent hundred exactly who he presents yes yes absolutely what do you think it was about bruno that made it so you didn't have that kind of typical i'm a kid rebellion like bruno was a good guy and he made it so everybody was cheering for him and even even in the seventies and eighties i mean i know ho cogan had that thing but hulk hogan was loved by small children bruna was loved by small children but also men teenagers like you but also full adults like your dad would've loved him what what was it about bruno that made it so that you actually like this gotta look wiki you got to look at the era that wasn't really an era where wrestling had figured out that the anti hero would be cheered for also i mean you know when the first time i saw that so that the bad guys were super important but because of where the culture was then like a genuinely good guy got people did root for them more there weren't a lot of people cheering when stan hansen you know broke bruno's neck.
