"Peter Filipovic Not Carlton and United Breweries. Confirmed that the shipment was delivered to the Hmas Service Naval Base on Thursday. The Australian Navy then took the beer on a nearly day-long trip until it arrived in Mala. Kudo the Victoria late Friday. So somehow they found out this beer. CEO found out that this town in the middle of the fires who was just really struggling was completely out of beer. Because I'm I'm sure like roads are cut off shipping's cutoff likes. Things must be so difficult and so tight right now appears pie the least of their concerns so I think these little creature comforts of being able to sit down at the pop after a long day or sit down and commiserate or check resources and everything because a pub can be such a community hub. And that's how the second where you can get your brain right like where you can relax because I imagine these shifts that these firefighters these are these Australian Navy the Australian soldiers. What they're going going through right now he's got to be horrific? I mean if you've been around fires for a long period of time you know how draining that is. How much water you have to consume home so at the end of the day whenever you're seeing horrific things like all these animals that are dying all these different houses that are getting destroyed trying to tell people to get the fuck walk out of there and then be able to go to a pub at the end of your long day and even if it's just one beer to sit down on a stool after a long day and and just sip on one beer has got to be life changing but these people also know what this looks like? They know that it looks good. Look terrible so they we're smart and they got out in front of it and say look. None of the beer is occupying any space necessary for essential supplies that nothing was offloaded that was important to accommodate the beer here. We had space for the beer so we brought the beer. Which I think is a brilliant move? It's a great move. Yeah and it's nice to know the navy took an entire day to bring that stuff up there and I think it just means something to people. We're not forgotten. They remember that we're going through this tough time right now And it's just a nice. It's just a nice thing to do. I think so. The breweries also so are committed to raising more than a million dollars for communities affected by the fires and have already given a two hundred fifty thousand dollar donation so amongst all the horrible stuff. That's happening right now. Definitely a very cool thing to the American firefighters that were alone over to Australia. Yeah kind of like a a reciprocal action because Australia. Always always loans there firefighters over two Californians when whenever Californians are battling the wildfires that ravaged them every season. So that's gone on you come. And we know that and we know people from different military's all across the world. Listen to this show too and so we know that. There's probably some Australians that are listening and what those people we're doing almost all of their national guard got called up to fight these fires. There's so many people out there trying to help the stories have been horrific. I don't like to be too sad sex sally alley on this show but like Kate said billions of animals dying and they're having to dig mass graves and what that must do to your mental state would be absolutely absolutely horrible but we always look for the helpers like our good friend Fred Rogers said and one of those helpers is a group of nearly twenty thousand people in England have banded ended together to start knitting different different like sweaters and blankets and little papooses for the the Kangaroo Joe is to sit in who have lost their moms like that. They went through so people all across the globe and those people in Britain are in England are the elderly and children are getting involved and having that as a teaching moment at that we bind together a global community and we help each other out. I think is a nice sentiment to kind of rest. Your head on through Just in a horrific amount of a fire that are going on in Australia. So we're thinking about them. Shout out to all the KANGAROOS and all the different wildlife. It's in Australia. We're thinking about you guys especially the soldiers sailors as an airman marines over there in Australia because they have all those two. I don't know if they have any sergeants are not yet disaster. Yeah space chief yet. Maybe that's the next next up. That could be helpful. Maybe right let's move onto round number six all right for round number sticks. We're going to do a little cat chat because Catherine had a big big weakened. Kate tell us what happened. Yeah so what last month at some point several several weeks ago now now I moved into my own place finally and for a long time. I've moved pretty much every single year my life since I was eighteen. But I'm finally finally finally in a place where I think think I'm GonNa be there for a while so it's the first time in a long time I feel like settled. I feel like I'm like at home so I've always wanted a cat. I grew up with the CAP. Ah I love him and I started looking around and then finally yesterday I'm scrolling through. I kept checking the ASPCA website. Here I knew I wanted to adopt a pet. I kept apps growing but none of the cats were like I was like I wanted somebody a little bit older and a little bit. I Dunno growing. I find this cat yesterday. Named spark like like a spoon at Fort Combined Sport his photo he is thick with such a great name. Sport is such a great name sport. Definite eater big old cheeks cheeks like really neat little face and I say to myself. I'm like debating back and forth in shops. I texted you. I was like man. There's this cat like Bob Lot and you're like do it so I run to Tom's pet supply over in a story where I live and I get I'm like get litterbox and all this food and all this supplies and stuff just in case because of my God forbid I got a cat and I come home. I don't have anything so I'm like just in case then I rub it. There is no just in case once you once you buy that litterbox. You're walking out. You're walking out of that place that day with a cat like you know you are but I knew I wanted spark and so. I had this sense of urgency. 'cause it's Manhattan it's only Aspca in Manhattan and so the odds are good. Animals move pretty quick. Their odds are good but I was like shit so I run and get the supplies and it was Kinda hot yesterday. I'm like sweating. I'm going to go and then I run back downstairs. I run over to the subway. Take the subway up. Then I have to run like seven blocks to get to ninety third street on the upper east side and I get in there and I see a son and a mom and they have this cat in this thing. They're getting ready to take them like faulk. I bet you that sport it was shit yeah. UPS and the little boy was like real annoying. Thank God I didn't save him in time stuck this family now well anyways. So that's a routes very nice of them to save whispers but I get called back and and all they like live glass cat condos so they can all see out the window and they're all connected by holes of in climb up into each other's like it's like a little maze it's neat except for one was covered cardboard except for a tiny heart-shaped cut out and like who's in that one likes pork. He is having a tough go and has no I guess the other day. They said he's clumsy and he was just walking along and fell right through a hole in the cat condo down all your and then he like you like freaked out so he's been in a ball in this corner of this dark the little square mile. He's already in a bad mood love. I mean if anybody loves CBS wallowing and sadness it. It's just a couple curmudgeon. Couple negative Nancy's slowly open thing and like I reach in vary slowly slowly with a treat in my hand. He doesn't he has none of it he. He's so frozen. I brushed his cheek a little bit and I was like. Oh he does not he liked postured a little bit as fuck. He doesn't want to be touch but I was like you know what I have acquired apartment. This cat would absolutely hate life in a house of kids or allowed House of parties and gas. I I live in a quiet little studio. If you'll have me I will take him and they're like Emma just got to see if we can get them in a crate. That was a whole adventure on its own but the guy mccray I took him. I'm home on cat. Mom Now and for the first like seven hours as soon as I let him out in the apartment he went right under my bed and didn't move fine. I was living for these updates yesterday. My God I was so into the updates. I was sitting on my couch quietly reading a book for like seven hours yesterday afternoon because I didn't want to bug him. I wanted to let them settle title and I was like I'm afraid the TV will bother him. Afraid this and that I was somebody. Honk their horn outside. I was like hey I got a cat in here. Take it easy. It's like losing my marvels but finally like right. Before I was about to finally get ready to go to bed. He came out from under the couch. Start sniffing around. He hopped up on the bed. I was like Oh my God like it was the craziest thing that could have ever happened. This would spark this league this league over and and I just let them stay with my hand. I start petting them a little bit. I can feel start to per and I say I'll give him a little space. I go back on the couch. He followed me he sat on my lap. He's been been a love bug ever since only things. He has a cold right now so I have to give a madison. He sneezing up a storm and keeps sneezing Bogor's all over l. over everything everything and also he cannot stop leaking his asshole probably got worms honestly licking his asshole and sneezing my face. Am I going to get paint. Got Your good. There's not very many diseases that transfer over you'll be fine there but it is so special like to have a cat. Could you're absolutely beaming and some of these pictures videos of when he finally hopped up on your couch and was just hanging out. That's the good life man. That's the good life I just felt for the the first time I look in the ASPCA. I just felt like Oh my God I fucking love this guy I just love I cannot explain how nice he in the middle of the night. Last night he like left up on my chest and was like curled up with me and I was like this motherfucker man yeah I I've just If people are like Oh your Cat Lady now God Damn Right. I'm hooked. I mean when you've always been a cat lady you just science cap. Yeah so I'm just really excited. It's nice to have little critter when you come home to. Besides the cactus you know live in talking to yourself. I was this morning I was like all right grabbing meal backpack Rooney Nama shoes and it was like. I'm talking to the cat not me so great times so this'll be the first time like when you get home from work that he's just alone in Europe by yourself right yes. Are you afraid you're gonNA come back to like in like like a nightmare situation or disaster. Maybe can't find him. You found a way to get out or he does look a little mercury. But I he's micro-chipped any other caller with like my phone number umbrellas and Casey does skater built. I'll know where he is. I think you'll be okay. Cats are pretty like low maintenance by themselves. I think they just like to sleep in. Hang out and things like like that. So I'm super excited though and I mean come on. He's a big cat. I'm a veteran is thick with to seize Z's for sure all right we're happy for you kate and lots of ugly talk from Brennan and Connor even on twitter during the whole thing having to Shit Shit on cats and rain on Kate's parade. "And is now eligible for mission assignment. So this is where we kind of get into his resume and it is if there is a movie that came about this guy. You never believed that somebody could do all of this stuff here we go A. US Navy seal. That's one. He was the navy seal. Kim completed more than one hundred. Combat operation is the recipient of a Silver Star and bronze STAR WITH COMBAT V. Kim was commissioned as a naval officer through an enlisted officer program and earned his degree in mathematics at the university India. Go you're like Oh University of San Diego good school but I mean that's not crazy. Impressive and then. He got a doctorate of medicine at Harvard Medical School now. We don't do too much straight up just bio stuff. But I feel like we need to with this fellow. He was born and raised in Los Angeles. California to Korean American can immigrants. He enjoys spending time. Doing outdoor activities academic impress professional mentoring strength training and lifelong learning. He holds advanced scuba. And you'RE GONNA to find out in just a second where he got that training for advanced scuba. Kim enlisted in the navy as a seaman recruit after graduating high school. In two thousand and two. That's right one of the new. Newest astronauts is started as an enlisted person. Imagine going to him Kim. Walking into a recruiting office in California and be like well. What's your goals? Well well I would like to go to buds and become a navy seal and then after that I'm GonNa. I'M GONNA Commission after getting some really high decorated awards for bravery and valor. And then I'm GonNa go on to Graduate College and then I'm going to go to Harvard. Medical to to specialize in emergency medicine not just regular medicine and emergency medicine. Because I'm going to spend a lot of my time. I'm on the battlefield helping navy seals while also being a fucking sniper. That's continue on inadequate piece of shit and I got to give after completion of his cormon training. He reported a seal training in California after completing his training at the naval special warfare. School Kim reported to school in Fort Bragg for the Special Operations Combat Medic course. He was assigned to special warfare. Operator to seal team three and Charlie platoon in San Diego California where he obtained came various qualification. Including I mean this guy military freefall parachutist combatant diver. That's the one where they have the closed circuit where you're not doing scuba where you can see. The bubbles the bubbles go back in so it's called a re breather the Navy Special Warfare Training Reconnaissance Scout and sniper school and the advanced special operation and techniques. Kim served as a special operations combat medic. Like that's not enough doing that. With the seal. He also had the comic before that because he had the title of sniper sniper navigators and Portman on more than one hundred combat operations spanning two points to the Middle East including Ramadi and at that time when he weren't Ramadi was basically the the wild west and solder city. He was commissioned as a naval officer through the Navy's enlisted commissioning program. He graduated from the University of San Diego in two thousand twelve upon graduation. He went to Harvard Medical School in two thousand sixteen. He began his medical internship with Harvard. Affiliated Emergency Metal Medicine Residency and at the time of his astronaut selection. In two thousand seventeen he was a resident physician in emergency medicine with partners. Harcourt Partners Healthcare at Massachusetts General Women's Hospital Hospital and he remains on active duty as a lieutenant. If somebody wrote that story to me and emailed me I was like that is the biggest stolen valor. Our ditch I've ever heard. There's no way you believe any event things Zebdine my sister's boyfriend saying XYZ and we'd be like He's a fucking liar. TENDER BIOCHEMIST SKYLINE DUMP HIS ASS. He's a loser. Imagine you're at a bar 'cause you know like astronauts astronauts picture whenever they're walking out Armageddon and they're wearing their orange flight suits and shit like that imagine. This guy has just like a bomber jacket but it's orange one but it also so has the seal tried it with silver. Start Abroad Star hanging off. You'd be like Okay Bitch. What the fuck are you do it? Yeah there's absolutely and by the way do you know what they call so in this photo. The what's what's seven plus six thirteen Yeah okay there's thirteen out of it. You're talking about a more excuse sex so anyway thirteen make it through out of eighteen thousand and then they make it through this two year training cycle and then they get their class photo taken. They're wearing these blue flight jumpsuit. This is like I guess what they call them their version of boots. What like a boot astronaut? They call him turtles person. Reason why it says the a group known as turtles were blue flight jumpsuits and took turns approaching the stadiums or it's either astronaut Pins Holy Shit to get an astronaut fin my goodness. I felt good to get my little good conduct ribbon so fast so my question is so you seal school. Harvard Med now astronaut school. which which is the hardest? I would think gigantic journey. He's on which which party struggle with the most. Because they're all super hard any any one of them would be most people single greatest accomplishment. He did all three. Which one did you struggle with the most? We're going to have to get on the pot. I don't reach out to a lot of official organization organization. I would like to talk to every single one of those astronauts that just went through because doing the big brain that you have to just the have the audacity to think that you you could do astronaut training to me. That's one of the most audacious claims that you can half like when people go through when they sign up for medical school and they're like you know what I wanna be a brain surgeon or you know what I want to be a rocket scientist the audacity that you have to have to do that is crazy to do. All three of these things is nuts. It it's nuts to me. I cannot imagine going through all that shoutout to Dr Kim. Lieutenant Kim whatever you WanNa call them also promote his asked he's only an oath to God. I mean what energy because thinking get still get paid as an oath three so so this is doing all this stuff and probably makes eighty five thousand a year also looks like I'm just GonNa say fucking model like Oh yeah among those and he will get people thing ever he's just got alpha. Yeah he is. Imagine you're rigo to San Diego or something like that for a little Z.. Teacher and you like to hop on bubble from time to time. Imagine this Bella POPs up double high. Just swipe away. Because I'd be like back to the file this under too good for me. I if I had bubble I wouldn't just swipe right my friends. I would liquidate on Nope. I hope he's way too. Good for me my goodness that's crazy. A lot of couple of military people as per usual. There's always military people make it through this group but indian-american Raja Sherry the an air force colonel Ann `Aeronautics Engineer Frank Rubio medical doctor and Black Hawk pilot so just so many so many people. That are so much smarter. You're better than me well. But where's your podcast on the ranking. Yeah booth where's your podcast turtles. All right let's talk about people that we might be able to compete with a little bit more. We're going to do that around number. Four round number four we came across this exclusive information hasn't even been revealed on mini widespread news agencies. But we had here I. The rank rank structure has gone in Kate. Did you ever struggle learning rank structures of different branches. Oh my God yes I well you know me. You knew all the INS and outs of the military right away and you still remember them all perfectly like customs and courtesies and this and that like you still remember movements on the drill field me. I just floated along got lucky. Sometimes nothing I never absorbed a damn thing couldn't land navigate through the end. Sometimes I just faked it now. Rank structure was one of them. I was the one saluting those. ROTC Navy kids at the Shiny Shiny ranks. That's our it. Looks like he's fifteen. It's still like just a mess even within the Marine Corps for a hot minute it took me a long time to get it sorted out and I tried to do the Marine Corps structure. I think I know I'm not. Yeah all right tair so. It's private right prime then private first class. Yeah Dan specialist nope no. We don't have special ours. Yeah so then it's then it's lance-corporal Pfc Right. I should know that. And then corporal and Sergeant and Staff Sergeant and was that a six gun gunnery sergeant back then captain then general nope those are officers. I'd go gunnery Sergeant Master Sergeant or first sergeant is e eight and then you have master gunnery sergeant or sergeant major is ignited. So there's there's two different titles paddles you can have not bad though bread. Not Bad at all so we're going to get into. I should know that more. No new branch of service. The Space Force is going to have their own and it came amount different. Because I think for me the hardest of all the different rank structures to learn is navy officers because the three branches of service. They're all the same you still you new start second lieutenant. First Lieutenant captain the Air Force the army and the navy the Air Force the army and the Marine Corps all use the same ones. The navy uses a different rank structure so to start the space force has their own and they are the first ones that has changed up really all the titles. So they're e one and I WANNA get your thoughts on this. Kate is going to be called. Starman basic what do you think about that I my only problem is like. I wish that we were moving away from calling people people man I wish star Star Person Start Person Basic C. V. S. T.. Okay so I'll eat too easy to. WHO IS GONNA be? Starman three is going to be starman First Class E four th they have kind of an air force structure here because that's basic sermon. Airman Airman First Class would be the e one through the air force to and then they have senior starman now e five is where I I really like like to eat five star sure. I'm not sure how I feel. E Four but they're NCO and senior NCO ranks. I really like F five is staff star geant instead of sergeant. Yeah yeah that's good. Essex is going to be technical starch it then e seven it's going to be Mastro's sergeant I really not. Yeah Master not yeah. That's right master. Not e eight is senior master. Not and then he nine and I think this is the one that everybody's GonNa shoot for. They have what is it kate. Spade Cheese base chief is the night and you know what you shoot. Shoot for the moon. If you miss you still hit the stars and with that eventually so you can become a space chief. I think if again I wrote a jingle for this I feel like I this whole thing. I love it. People might shit on it at first and be like Starman what not not man o f. I'm at a bar. And somebody's like GAM- star first class. We're going to pound town. That's very cool so think of it that way okay. Yeah let's move on around five. God damnit the row number five and Australian hotel received a shipment of nearly eight hundred gallons of beer on Friday as wildfires continue to rage across the country. And we've been talking about this a lot. I know here at Barstool. We adopted a Koala for our boss. Like over billion with a B. animals wiped out in this thing I mean thousands and thousands of people losing their homes. It's the worst fire season that they've ever had But in Australia at these difficult times the pub is at the heart of regional communities and a pub with no beer bad and even the best of times after what Malikova residents and fires have been through the least we could do is make sure they enjoy a beer said a brewery Carlton United Brewery CEO. Peter Filipovic Not Carlton and United Breweries. Things must be so difficult and so tight right now appears pie the least of their concerns so I think these little creature comforts of being able to sit down at the pop after a long day or sit down and commiserate or check resources and everything because a pub can be such a community hub..

Christopher wilder was a prime suspect. In the one beach murders. The timing does not quite add up wilder did not start his killing spree until he was living in the United States in the mid nineteen eighties twenty years after the terrible events at one beach in nineteen sixty five. However, because wilder was living in Sydney, at the time, it is possible. He gave into his desire to commit murder at a much younger age, but there was another troubled young man who can be placed even closer to the murders. So close in fact that he was staying within one mile of Marianne Schmidt in Christine sheriff's hometown at the time of their murder. At one point in the investigation, authorities took a hard look at this man who is already incarcerated for the murder of a young girl. This man was Derek Percy, not only was he serving time, but he was also considered a suspect in another. Solved case that would be the famous Beaumont children disappearance, which we have also covered on unsolved murders on January twenty. Sixth nineteen sixty six. Just a little over a year after the one to beach, murders the three Beaumont children. Jane Arna and grant went missing from Glenn beach in South Australia witnesses recalled seeing a man talking and playing with children. It is believed he kidnapped and killed them. All their bodies were never found in their investigation. Detectives discovered that Derek Percy was in the vicinity of the beach. The day the children went missing. He was also in the vicinity of the one to beach. Sand dunes the day, Christine and Marianne were murdered Percy served in the navy and would arrive and depart from Australia's beaches quite often, journalists, Debbie Marshall, who wrote a book on Percy once stated everywhere that he went. On family holidays or in the navy. It seemed children had either disappeared or were found murdered. One of those children was eleven year old Yvonne TUI in July of nineteen sixty nine, four years after the one to beach, murders Percy abducted two from the beach of war, neat Victoria in Australia. She had been playing in the sand with her friends, Shane, spillover. The two had gone down there to chop some wood and make a fire Percy approached and suddenly put a knife to his throat. He ordered Spillers to come with him as well. But instead the young boy pulled out a small hatchet, he had brought to chop wood. He waved it wildly at Percy using it in self defense, and it seemed to work for spillover Percy ran off with two. We in his clutches, but left Spillers on the beach. The story doesn't end there. Spillers eventually spoke to thirties and remembered a lot of helpful details. I just spoke with the kid. He says, the suspect drove often in orange station wagon year, come on. He's eleven to Sasken. What else he drew this for us? What is it a seal close and insignia for the Royal Australian Navy. The boy saw the sticker on the rear window. You don't say he's smart for eleven. Did he give you a description of the suspect he said he thought he was in his twenties, definitely older than a high schooler, but younger than his dead, he had a long narrow face. I say, we check out the nearby basis interview some long, narrow face, naval officers, closest bases, HMAS service. Good. Let's start there. Detectives tracked down Percy at the base and found him in the laundry room. He was washing to his blood from his clothes, put your hands where we can see them. Percy was arrested on the spot and was brought in for a lineup, Shane Spillers had to identify him, but a two-way MIR wasn't used. Maybe this particular police station didn't have one which meant Spillers had to look to his killer in the eye when he pointed at him spill or later recalled, how chilling the moment was saying, quote, I had to walk up and point right? It is knows the look. He gave me spillover acted bravely and he was rewarded for it. The police station showered him with gifts. The local newspaper photographers took a picture of him standing heroically holding is metal Tomahawk, but the experience had a devastating effect on Spillers which didn't seem to emerge until a few years later. That's when he started to express his fear of the dark and began drinking at age fourteen. That's when his downward spiral began, and it didn't end. In September of two thousand two Spillers went missing after the traumatic experience back in nineteen sixty nine Spillers feared Percy would come after him. Is it possible? He did well. Most people believe Spillers committed suicide and that his body has never been found and would have been impossible for Percy to have gone after him himself. Here's why we the jury find that no sane individual could have committed such an act. Percy
