He's come a long way and he was a delight. He talked a lot about this new film of his on Netflix. Him Bobby Brown yes. The fabled Snyder cut we get into it, and of course, we talk about his comfort movie. He's a Geek like myself. He wanted to talk or to the rings, not just wear the rings the extended cut. Of The rings guys. Yeah. This is a Geeky one speaking geeks. Now, this guy's not a geek these guys too cold for me but somehow he's a friend of mine. But also politically, I wanted to hear about what you're up to and spread the good word. Tell me about Hooper's boat. Yeah. Hooper's vote and Hooper's registered to vote day. Josh. Is something I'm really passionate about and I love how you've been able to use your platforms to talk films To interview the biggest actors and actresses and directors on the planets, and also you have a chance to have your voice heard about what you're passionate about what's going on outside of the movie theater and outside of movies, and for me it's you know the basketball I'm very passionate about and with partnership with rock the votes, we launched an initiative called Hooper's vote as a way to unify amplify all the collective energy you see across basketball culture. The NBA Wnba College High School Eleven even my old man rec league everybody's a hooper at heart and with being a hooper, it also comes with being voter a leader on and off the court. So having a lot of fun creating content around basketball culture and I wanted to reach out to Utah, you're very passionate about voting and I thought it'd be a great way on Hooper's vote day unites talk our favorite basketball movies of all. The list of great basketball films is not honestly that long in my opinion, I feel like there might be some overlap. Can we compare our top three basketball movies of all time? Yeah. Let's do it and there haven't been as many in recent years as the documentation of basketball has gone global. There have been some niche documentaries that have popped up on the festival seen in recent years I think the other Dream Team about the Lithuanian team in ninety two that won the bronze medal and used to warm up in the Olympics with grateful dead tie-dyed shirts socks about. Voice for Activism back then but I yeah I think ninety two or the inception of rock. The vote was sort of the end of your basketball career coincide Benjamin Button meeting in the middle I left when the last time the Knicks were like a real team. The Mystery of Woodchester Mansion

"People have lived in the area of Gloucestershire share. Now known as would chester park since the Romans invaded Britannia but the site of the Winchester Mansion itself began as a hunting lodge in the middle of a heavily wooded deer park. The ducie family purchased the Land Law in Sixteen thirty one renovating it into a Georgian. House called Spring Park. The ducey's kept the house in a near constant state of renovation added several landscaping features to the sprawling four thousand Acre valley including a group of art official lakes in eighteen forty. The second earl of Ducie inherited the property from his recently deceased father. The Legend of what happened that fateful year would be the first indication that something wasn't quite right at the would chester estate. It's no wonder that rumors of full body apparitions, disembodied voices, and the strange smell of extinguish candles persist. Not when the initial occupancy of the mansion turned out to be so very, very strange. Henry was grateful that his father and past he would never say so loud but he could not be happier. He had long toiled in the shadows of Thomas Reynolds Morton look first earl of Ducie. While the reward of inherited title was a nice reward for his time. It wasn't enough Thomas expected a lot out of him henry heated the permanence near the Thomas War around his son the constant lack of approval had driven Henry to dark thoughts. It was unfair that someone who had so much could feel as though they were nothing. He'd contemplated killing his own father regularly. It wished for his father's death a thousand times. But wishes weren't enough. At night he trump of sneaking into his father's room and crushing his windpipe Thomas, Cole ties would stare back at him in defiance but Henry would only press harder. He would steal every ounce of paint from his father that he could. He would revel in at even. This was the retribution he deserved. But by the time, he finally summoned the courage to act on his feelings fate had intervened. His father was dead and Henry would be able to keep his soul free at sin. He should have been overjoyed, but there was a part of him. That was disappointed. Henry had wanted to watch the life leave is father's is. Instead, S. he stood in the church on that summer morning he saw the corpse of an older man that felt nothing like his father. This husk of a person wasn't even the slightest bit intimidating. He was justice Shell Serene still. No fire behind the size no disapproving sneer. To the best of his knowledge Thomas Reynolds, Morton had never looked serene is life. Death was as the saying goes the great equalizer Henry didn't WanNA. Feel equal to his father he wanted to feel better that him. His shock at being robbed of the chance to end his father's life was eventually swallowed by his own greed. He held the title and the purse strings that once belonged to Thomas. The legacy had been passed onto him and he could do whatever he wanted with that power. His first act of filial disobedience was going to be a party. He would holden enchanted forest themed masquerade at his father's last real estate acquisition but converted Hunting Lodge in Winchester Park. It was still under construction, but the ballroom was mostly finished and the incomplete designed would really add to the atmosphere. Henry woke with a sense of clear purpose on the day of the party even though he held the title for weeks, this would be his entrance into high society as an earl. The people would give him the respect they never gave his father. A. Played softly as Henry mingled with his guests, he welcomed as many people as he could bobbing out of conversations whenever he grew tired of the subject matter. Most of these guests were more his father's friends than his. He despised them, but he couldn't resist the chance to hold his new title and the imminent chaos heads. He outranked nearly all of them now. Though the event was a masquerade few visit guests had been particularly inventive. There was fun and trying to guess who everyone was. Something always gave them away the gate, the bone structure, the laugh. There were at least four uninspiring looking deer and far too many rakish second sons had decided to come as wolves. But there was one person Henry didn't know. A strange masked man was weaving his way through the crowd. He had never introduced himself and his body language was unfamiliar. Henry tried to get closer, but he struggled to even get a clear view of the masked man. The pushed through the of gentry ignoring their complaints. Finally. When the crowd parted they met. The mysterious man was standing still gazing out one of the large glazed windows to the forest behind. And redrew closer and put one gloved hand on the man's shelter. The did not turn around.

At the top level, they're all playing people they've played before, which must make. It's so interesting. How, from how do you coach or head of players deal with known that the other guy knows all their secrets are patrons may be a better word yet it's good. Yeah. Lots of players play with with certain patterns in they do specific things at certain times. So it's it's know we speak regularly before the matches. Go through what the opponents, what we might expect them to do what they did against them last time if they did it against the lost time and it was successful low probably good again, if if they didn't work than the opponent will change it. So we've got to be prepared for things to change and it might change through the course match nobody plays exactly the same way all the time

Hank Aaron: Breaking the Home Run Record

"On April Eighth Nineteen seventy four Atlanta Braves outfielder Henry Louis Aaron better known as Hank, his seven hundred fifteenth home run finally breaking the record of the legendary Babe Ruth like everyone else in the country I've been following errands pursuit of the record since the previous season. He played in the Negro Leagues in the Early Nineteen Fifties, and now here he was just two home runs away new but the excitement was undercut by a sense of alarm as errands quest unleashed a torrent of vicious racism baseball is the quintessential American sport. Now, an African American, a dark skinned black man challenging the power, the supremacy of baseball and of white men. That's why the hate mail death threats bomb threats. This was driving a stake at the heart of American culture. Has All this made you more aware than you're a black baseball player? I've never forgotten. Later, he would confess that he was afraid. He wouldn't live long enough to break the record. Then at the start of the nineteen, seventy, four season. All. Of all. Errands triumph was electrified By the end of his Major League career nine, thousand, nine, hundred, seventy, six, he had hit a total of seven hundred and fifty five home runs. Errands record would stand for more than thirty years. The braves retired his number and he was elected to the hall of fame. To. This Day Hank Aaron is considered one of baseball's greatest players.

Inside the BLAST Restructure

"Blasts saying corona has hit our bank account a little bit. We gotTA restructure this if we want to really make it beneficial for the long haul. So what they're doing is moving forward, they will be increasing the participation fees paid two teams and reducing the prize money again. The I feel like this was kind of lost in the tweet because their initial tweet didn't really explain very well, the total sum paid by blast will remain identical. Okay. So I think that's important at the end of the day to realize that however the kicker here. Is the players aren't necessarily seeing that payout for participation. They see a lot of times in their contracts, the prize money. So you're taking away prize money to give it to direct payout to the ORG which you're like okay. Well, what's the big deal? It's all going to the same place not necessarily because pending on your contract pending on the Org again they only give you your pay right they give you what you agreed for on a payment and the prize money. So the double whammy here is that they failed to consult the counter. Strike Professional Players Association the CS. On this manner question for you why do they have to do that? That's a very good question which I'm glad you brought it up because I always every time this comes up in the world of counterstrike with. Like the CS PPA. Up We were not consulted about this we will be speaking with them behind closed doors blah blah, blah no one here heard about this at what point do they? Do you think they call an emergency meeting and say guys do people even know were around? Like do they like and I've said this before I feel like they have lost their own way whereas before it came out, it was, hey, we wanna look out what's best for the players while also working with tournament organizers and or gigs. To figure out what's best for like the system right now while then it's kind of turned into well, no, we feel like it should just be this way and we're going to create our own rankings because we don't like the way they do it You know things like that. I? Guess. You know perfect player union world. Yes. You would consult the players if you're going to change the payout. However if they didn't need you to start it, why would they consult you to change it? I'm probably GONNA take like a approach on this that if any players listening, I apologize ahead of time but like in a way what Henry g did by releasing the salary information I, say Henry Cloud Nine as the cloud nine decision right team decision to release salary? Information. Like you're not gonNA get a ton of sympathy from me at least when it comes to a little bit more money going into the owners pockets because what I see like again, this is one hundred percent my point of view I. don't even know if you agree with this what? I what I see in counterstrike right now is a game that is getting to this Odd Breaking Point doesn't mean the game's going to go away or die or nothing like that. I'm just saying it's at a point where. There's just this top end were just really top heavy in the fall off to me is is fairly massive when it comes to the landscape or the overall ecosystem of counterstrike, we're not seeing a ton of new teams invest into counterstrike. We've talked to team owners that have said it's a bad investment other than getting your name out there like if you're willing if you're willing to put in the money to be one of the top five. Great, it's good recognition by kind of beyond that. We see several team owners taking cheaper. Pats just to stay. Around in counter strike, but not necessarily the compete at the highest level because they know. To do that, it's millions of dollars in now we see a contract for the first time right now I know that includes Alex is a buyout but let's just say he's he's making around three four hundred K. annually off of this contract. Plus a buy out fee and then he's getting prize money from the six hundred events that go on throughout the year. Right? It's not like blast has. One. Event there multiple events in including one pretty much. Every weekend at this point, right weather's blast or star ladder ESL or face it. There's an event. Every single weekend at this point players are making really good money. Now I know there's a saying like, well, it's never enough right like you should be able to get whatever you're able to will. This was an opportunity for the elders in blast toward together in make making a little bit more beneficial for the ORG is. A huge problem in that. If they didn't consult with them. It's because they chose not to you know they didn't WanNa do it like we know you guys are making a ton of money. We need ours. Also a blast is still paying out the same amount, but I do feel for ownership groups right now in counterstrike because it is so outrageously expensive ended it's taken away from us a little bit in my mind because of how inflated the cost of Gone We've seen. Teams completely just wipe themselves out of counterstrike together we saw cloud nine one of the biggest stories take two year hiatus essentially from the game because they didn't want to compete at a high level. That's what it came down to. Right. They have the money the one of the most valuable orange but chose not to spend. Yeah. In put all their resources into counterstrike instead don't have two dollar and team cloud nine the just enough to stay relevant. That's it. They did the again that we've seen several teams do let's keep our name in the game refloating around right. If his top thirty we'RE STILL ON HDTV, we're still going to be in a handful of events 'cause re cloud nine a but at the end of the day, they didn't see it worthwhile to invest in the counter strike again, they're coming back now but that's after they have two dollar and teams in they're probably saying good success in other areas. Yeah. Ah Let. Me Tell you where I have a problem with because ultimately I think I leaned closer to you. My problem is not that they didn't consult with the Players Association. 'cause consulting means a conversation. Right? My problem is if there was no heads up given because it's not like this is in the off season of blast there in the middle of the event, right? They are still in the tournament mode four like the main blast that will eventually lead to like their big major, right For blast. That's where I have the issue because if you're if you're changing the prize pool mid tournament and not giving them a heads up I. Understand the reason. Obviously. We don't know all the numbers, but all we constantly hear about. How you know the tournament organizers make barely any money and the owners encounter strike especially, pretty much lose money. Right. Having a counter strike team. And yet. Always see from these players are Gucci watches you know Yeezy. Right like they're doing pretty okay. Not Every player I understand that. But for the most part, they're doing pretty okay with their salaries. Heard. From counterstrike pros saying that they won't go to events unless they're staying five star hotels for the most part like the best of the best tower tournament organizers where the. Name anything here but there's a place will say locally where I'm not even kidding you next door, there is a walkway, a covered walkway that leads from the hotel to the place where they were having the event and the players didn't want to stay at the hotel because it wasn't nice enough and this hotel is a Sheridan. It wasn't like a king to know knock on. Lucina. It's a shared. Sakes. Like. Four Star Hotel Four Seasons or anything but. Still pretty good and they wouldn't do it. So then the tournament organizers had to switch the hotel, right? The players went there and said, nope, this isn't up to our standards then switched the hotels and everything here like don't get it twisted. And it's actress counterstrike I'd say most East sports athletes. For being guys that like have very minimum requirements to get by in life like I've seen your room behind your Webcam right we know how some of these guys live they have very high standards when it comes to like pampering them. So No, I think for blast to take a conscious stand and be like we can't survive doing this. Let me ask the players this would you rather have more prize money? Or. Would you rather have? Would you rather have more prize money and blast fold after this because they can't afford To recoup or would you rather have? A reputable event. In blast payout a little less give your or more money to hopefully that will come back to you in some way and then being able to continue because right now that's the only option you have chances are that money is not going back to them in some way though right like. Chances are the orange will pocket money or use it for their expenses that even if? Up The fridge some you out. You know we upgrade the stream room for you guys our facilitation. Curtis Saunders and his 1914 Model T

"This is Robert loss of welcome to another episode of cars that matter today we're joined by Dr Curtis Saunders, Mechanical Engineer Researcher at Johns Hopkins University Tower Things in Baltimore today, Curtis agreed Robert. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Curtis is here because he's the owner of a nineteen fourteen Ford model t now I guess I could make all kinds of jokes curtis about how you really need a PhD in mechanical engineering to work on one of these. But I'm sure it doesn't hurt. I we're going to dig into the history of the Ford model teachers to understand a little bit better. Why was such important automobile? The Ford model t is often named the car the century. Obviously, it's an important car. Why is it important to you? I should say while I'm a mechanical engineer I've always loved history. I'm always been a student of history and history has always been a passion of mine. So the model t important to to me. One of the reasons is just the impact it had on American history and just the general in addition just to manufacturing in general the manufacturing methods behind the model. t some of the things that Henry Ford merely pioneered with the car I was just really fast anyhow had in areas as well as the impact car itself had in American culture from what I understand. They made about fifteen million and they had quite a lifespan and first one came. Out in Nineteen Oh eight is that right? Yes. That is correct Kinda wrap things up by one, thousand, nine, hundred, Ninety, seven when by that time was almost as much of an antique as it is today it's amazing how long the car ran and even through its cycle while the appeared. So the car changed a lot of the underlying the chemical structure while had some changes remain basically the same, the same four cylinder engine, the chew speed transmission. The bones are really did run twenty years I remember years and years ago in my former life I worked with the operating engineers, UCLA. What do we have these emergency generator rooms now ucla campus was built back in the nineteen twenties and we actually had an emergency generator that was still powered by a Model T. engine this back in the eighties imagine that that old engine was deemed reliable enough and competent enough to be working all those decades later. Really Testament to the Durance of that particular design you talk about Henry, Ford and how the model t was really the first mass produced car but I almost get the feeling. Henry could have been making washing machines or vacuum cleaners in a lot of ways the model t was sort of a test bed for the whole production line process actually rates moving assembly line process was not unique to model ts and applied to so many different types of products from airplanes, trains, cars, like you said, also goods washing machines TV's. Of that type of process, we take it for granted now, but someone had to think of it I in there had to be a pioneer that type of industry that really started this whole thing not only introducing a whole new way of making things it was done. So efficiently and relatively inexpensively that I gave any American with a halfway decent paying job the opportunity to own a car or it's eight a here's rolling car off the assembly. Line every ninety seconds from what I understand though maybe you can correct me if I'm wrong the model t was such a grand vision of Henry Ford's that he actually set up manufacturing facilities or plants all around the country, and even in other comments, he truly believed it was the car for the masses I. Don't think he really viewed it as just something for a specific region or even a specific country her specific time thought he'd really. distill down essential components vehicle and that that's what anyone in the world would what I guess. There was more than just one model T. everything from pickup trucks to delivery vans they made a whole bunch of them didn't they? Absolutely, there is various types of cars from to Cedars. Cedars even enclosed cars and open cars later and the whole line of trucks. You can even buy a model t rolling chassis and build your own body for it. If you didn't like what Fort is offering, you could just build your own. You're not even limited cars like you said, the power plant could by the Ford engine, the Ford, power plant and just apple sorts of other applications that would make a nice Margarita blender wouldn't it just about the right amount of horsepower to get that is just just right. Everybody knows what one looks like but I suspect most people don't really understand what it takes to. Make one move got a little engine. What is like three liter inline four or something like that it's a little inline four and it has a two speed transmission. What's the horsepower output on that engine? Would you figure it was rated at twenty two and a half horsepower? Wow. Okay. There's a lot of lawnmowers. Today might a riding mower hardware store that has more horsepower than this little novelty

"Due to the graphic nature of this killer's crimes listener discretion is advised. This episode includes discussions of murder and assault that some people may find offensive. We'd vise extreme caution for children under thirteen convicted serial killer Henry Lee. Lucas sat in a stuffy interrogation room. A team of investigators gathered around him. They knew that Lucas had killed dozens. Maybe hundreds of times but now he was cooperating with them helping them close old cases. The lead detective didn't know why Lucas was so compliant. But that wasn't his mystery to solve. He just needed to know he could close his homicide case. A woman who had been murdered in her own bed. Lucas seemed amenable to taking credit. But the detective wanted to be sure. The confession was legitimate so he set up a little test. The detective handed Lucas a crime scene photo and invited him to examine it for several long. Secons the killer studied the details in the picture the rumpled bedsheets the decor the discarded pair of glasses on the murdered woman's bedside table once. Lucas was finished with the photo. The detective pulled out another that featured a group of smiling men and women posing for the camera he asked Lucas. If you could identify the victim once again. Lucas studied the photo intent. Finally he pointed at the correct woman and declared that he'd killed her gladly but detective took the Snapshot Back. There was no way Lucas could have recognized victim from the crime scene photo. He had to have seen her alive right before he killed her. As the detective returned the photo to his evidence file. He failed to note that in the group picture. The victim was the only woman wearing glasses. He just been duped by one of Henry. Lee Lucas. Many false confessions.

"My friends this tragedy this unexpected death. The sort of unplanned thing we weren't remotely prepared. This cannot be the final memory of Henry us. This cannot be how we remember him. And in that same article of his talking about how it is important to. Try to maybe find a way to memorialize him. And so I called Gina up at the humane society of Tulsa, very organization that rescued Henry in twenty fourteen. And I said, what do you need? Like, not just food, and you know. Every day sort of perishables. But is there something permanent or more permanent that we could do in Henry's name, something significant? I need to do something significant need to have something come out of this. And I think many of our listeners viewers feel the same. And she said that. They have a. I guess they have a few rescue vans that they take to these puppy mills. And you'd be surprised specially in Oklahoma. I mean, it's epidemic. Everywhere. You see rescues all the time. It's terrible. And they have these van that they'll load up with the animals to transport them to rescue to go try to clean them up and give them medicine fix their wounds. And then find them forever homes, and they have one of the vans that they need is in just horrible dilapidated shape. It is nineteen years old. It's a GMC safari van that they're using now. Won't start to be jumpstart everywhere. They go which means on site. They have to leave it running or else. They're totally hosed. You know, the years and the miles of just really taken their toll at as a number of unfixable problems. There's no air conditioning in it. So in the one hundred degree summers. You know, it's it's pretty bad. They say just on its last legs. Nobody wants to take this ban. And she she asked if we might be interested in helping to replace it. And I'm like that's perfect. It's perfect. Apparently, the people who helped donate for these vehicles vehicles. Like, these the vans are named after the pets. And so, you know, they've got like a a Rover van and a I mean, whatever your pet's name is. And they'll call that. Hey, I need you to get into Charlie and drive it to big speak for rescue. And so we have the opportunity to in Henry's name by a replacement rescue van for the humane society of Tulsa in Henry's name. It will be named after Henry and it will have his his photograph on the vehicle. And so I mean for years, there will be thousands of animals who are discovered and found and rescued and healed and and given forever homes in the name of little Henry. It's perfect. It's perfect. So. If Emory has touched your life. Or if this story has touched you, I'm going to ask you to join me, it's not a cheap endeavor. Obviously, we'd I kind of biting off a a pretty big project here. But I don't wanna give them just a rusty old thing that gets by for a short period of time, and then they're back to square one. But the same problems I wanna get them. Something reliable that is quality that will survive the miles that will that will be used for a long time something that is that is worthy. And so we're looking at the neighborhood before it's all over with. And then we'd like to get the Tulsa humane society logo on it Henry's picture and everything in a rap and probably in the ballpark fifteen thousand dollars to do that..
