"To the guest line. Right now. We'll talk about Julio Jones, and we'll do that with a former Falcons wide receiver now host morning drive for a while on the fan in Atlanta. That's Brian Finneran. Kind enough to give us a few minutes right now on the show, Brian, how you been? Good man. I'm doing great. I love the 50 Cent coming in. I wish you could play the longer Well, you know what we had to get to it. We had to get to you real quickly as much as I love 50 Cent and we would have enjoyed. I think the listening audience wants to get your thoughts on Julio Jones. We get to that in just a second of a very serious question, though for you out of the gate. Have you ever ate squirrel? Just wondering. What are you talking about? That was that Ben Cleveland? Yeah, he'd squirrel. A lot of that dude is a freaking monster. Never in my life, but I think about even squirrel. But if it was the only thing in the freezer like, he said. I guess you just got to go for it. I have no idea what he was talking about. I have no idea when squirrel taste like I don't want to know what it is like. Imagine when you're at college at Villanova. If you had it squirrel instead of a cheese steak, I'll take the patsy steaks for sure. Come on, You can't be going to Pat's and Gino's. That's a tourist trap. You know that even going near Gino's patch is the way to go. You got to go to Dallas. Andras, You got to go to Mama's next time. You're really love, you know, Brian, fitter and here with us. So what's going on with Julio Jones? It appears like he's going to get traded after June one. Is that your readers that you're feel that he's on his way out of town? God, that salary cap situation is so bad. For the Falcons. I don't know how you get around it and less and less. Grady Jarrett. Takes like a signing bonus of all of his money. 14 and 15 million And takes it right away. I don't know how you create the money. Without Doing something with Julio Jones. And we've heard Terry Fund know Who's the new GM? In Atlanta from New Orleans. Deferred. Interest me talk about it. It's It's a scary proposition. I And listen. I've had my issues with Julio Jones far is Plane games. So Julio is a He's in the Hall of Fame wide receiver. There's no question about it. He is Was played with Harry Douglas and Harry got a chance to play with Julio after I got released in 2000 after the 2010 season. And he said to me he's never seen a guy that big that strong. That's fast that quick. You will do the things that they've been able to do. Um, hey, just he's so special. I don't know how you move on from him. The only way you move on from this because your salary cap is so bad you have an option. If there's a way terrifying milk and can keep him here. I think you will. Um and I think that's through Grady Jared. I hope to God that then if that happens Here's the part that I just don't know what the Falcons are doing. Brian Finneran. You know they restructure Matt Ryan. They don't take a quarterback in the draft. You have Kyle pits. Now you've got Calvin Ridley. And now they made trade Julio Jones. I understand the salary cap situation. It's It's terrible. You you didn't said it yourself. Are they still think they could win in this group? And do you actually believe that this group can still win? Or is this just gonna be a thing in a year or two where you hit the reset and you're really gonna be rebuilding? It's a great question, I think. I think that Ryan is a No. You call me you call the top 10 Top 12 15 quarterback. I think I'm a little biased because I play with the guy and I know how good he is. Very catchable ball. Super Smart, understands defenses, his his ability to Ah, manipulate the pocket, his leadership skills or just through the roof. So I really do think that Ryan can play two more years that at a high level So I just I feel like I feel like Arthur Smith. The office, the head coach office coordinator, came from Tennessee. Watched a bunch of film along with the rest of his coaching staff and terrifying no and said, this guy can still play. Is Maybe not the least Maybe not Tom Brady and Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers type but the very next level right there. If you give that Ryan The top 15 defense, which he's never had. He conduce every want to do because they can score. 30 points a game. No questions and then you had a carpet. I'm not sure what Mike Davis From Carolina who we got And free agency. I'd like to think Hagen do something. He didn't. He ruined the Falcons a couple times of you playing last year when he was a Carolina. Um, I just think Between The guys they picked up. Pit. Mike Davis, you got Julio Jones, Calvin, really Hayden Hearst. Um You've been doing nothing office to cover for the defense, and then he finally haven't even the coordinator who is proven in this league and be in pain. I can do different things with different guys. The problem is Don't know if there's enough good talent on defense to make it happen. Ride fitter and here with us for a few more moments. When they was not surprisingly, took carpets it for we knew that was going to be the pick. We had a sense that was going to be the pick. I know you're a Matt Ryan guy. You play with them, and you're buddy buddy with him. I get that. Did you think they should have taken Justin Fields at that fourth spot, You know Was that something you're advocating for not so much. Advocating not so much, but I said multiple times on my radio show on succeeded sandals like If if that group of coaches Believes he's the guy. You can't pass up on Justin Fields because Watching him in Ohio State watching what he did against comes in and different teams in the last couple years. Um He has the ability to be a game changer. And then I looked back and I was go. What is it? What have Ohio State quarterback done? In the past, and they're literally is not one. How state quarterback and listen I'm not. I'm not trying to knock down Justin feels but Every Ohio state quarterback has been Just average to below average, terrible So this system. All that stuff in college is a lot different. The NFL So they saw something they didn't like. They must have seen something in like because Wow. I was Was very close to being like, Let's get the guy's gonna be a game changer. For the sake get sit behind that Ryan for a full year. Right. You get rid of that Ryan next year if you need to. If you need to take it better salary cap it next year. Andre could happen and that guy Justin feels the things he did does on the field. The things he did is two years of Ho State. You're unbelievable. So I just think they watch enough film. They watched enough stuff going on to know that that Ryan carry them through the next I'm not taking a quarterback at four and just it feels on the board. Maybe believe they think Matt Ryan is the answer the next few years. This is not a group that wants to be a rebuild group. They want to win now. What do you need back If you're going to trade Julio Jones, What do you need back? Do you need a first round pick back? Do you think you'll get a first round pick? Oh, my God. Yeah, he the first round pick if you can't get a first round pick Doesn't make any sense to do anything with Julio Jones. That guy is A first ballot Hall of Famer. Um And I understand the whole thing. I understand what's going on with Um His contract situation. Anything else but That guy's too special to pass up and my my only pick up with Julio. I've said it multiple times on my radio show. I don't think I've ever seen the guy. Come out. Of games more In situations where you need him more like Days, like second in 10, and he runs a go route. And they don't throw to him. And now it's they completed to a bringing back out of the backfield..

"Most. Harry Douglas Harry, thanks for the time. No problem at all. And I love how you gave fits Some riff raff right there about his boy deserves it, bro. That's my brother from another mother. Well, let's talk about the Falcons and their spot in this draft. There are so many question marks about whether they see themselves as a team that still wants to compete. Whether they think Matt Ryan is still you know, a worthy guy to build around or whether it's time to strip it down and get younger with a new quarterback. Where do you see them? Going with that? Pick? Well, if a number of different things for different ways they can actually go with that pig. Um, I know artist Smith pretty well. I was with him in Tennessee. He coached me. I know one of the things he loved, and he played officer line at UNC in North Carolina. So he prides itself on being physical being nasty up front door things the right way being disciplined, but at the same time, he loves tight ends. He uses a lot of 12 personnel, a lot of 13 personnel. Lot of oh, too personal for you, our listeners that I want to know what that is. 12 personnel is one tight end. I'm sorry. One running back too tight as two receivers. 13 personnel is one running back three tight ends. One receiver and go to personnel is no running backs, too tight ends three receivers so he loved. Um those personnels and finding mismatches and I tell people all the time. Look at the games again. I will say Baltimore all the games that they played against Baltimore. We're off the ship with the offensive coordinator, and he just found matchup that scene one plate of the day. I was because I was going through all these games and You see Matthews, you don trying to guard a tight end up the scene. And those are the type of mismatches that Arthur Smith wants to display when his office it's going to get a new opponent. So Harry with that being said, I mean, we've all talked about Kyle pits, right and you've got this sort of transcendent talent sitting there in my mind, you put Kyle pits next to Julio Jones with Matt Ryan. There's a quarterback. You've got two really dynamic thing happening. So it's hard for me to then make sense of the trade rumors around Julio. I mean, what do you think the real realistic situation is for them with Julio and how will it impact the draft? Well. But let's say this first, Julio was generational talent, right? I played with the guy. I was lucky enough to play with the guy benefited from him get a lot of double teams in the slot. So I don't. I don't. I don't know when. The next time we're gonna see a type of player like Julio, with that being, said Arthur Smith believed his offenses philosophy when you you look at him in Tennessee, Um, he had Corey Davis and he had a date ground. But it wasn't no Julio Jones and it wasn't no, Calvin. Really. Now he always had. Ah, one tight. I say A 1 81 be tight ends and his first year in 2019 with Delaney Walker, and it was John knew Smith and in Delaney Walker got hurt. Then I started being Fisker and you see fiscal last year step of a lot, a lot of make plays as well. But I'll tell you that number four pick. There's this four different ways they could go. You can literally go off in Salon at four. And not have any complaints. You can trade back and still go off into line and go Slater from Northwestern and still had no complaints and still have one picks. Or you can go quarterback at fourth, Because if you if you if you at any point is Terry part No. The artist must feel like Matt Ryan is not their quarterback for the next four or five years. If the right quarterback in their eyes is on the board. Still, they're probably going to take that because you've got a big on your organization not picking in the top five like that ever again because you're you're banking on winning and being a wing winning program. Harry Douglas with us on the Goodyear hotline, You can check out his YouTube channel, the HD connection. Former wide receiver for the Falcons, also on the Falcons radio network, lets talk wide receivers. This is such a deep draft for that kind of talent. You see teams going elsewhere early, knowing that they could pick up a good wide receiver later rounds. Yeah, I think it's another deep class just like last year, actually, with one of the most deep classes ever, And I think you you had the same thing this year. I mean, you have chase waddles You have run. Bellmore, Devante Smith, Bateman. Tony Paris Marshall, who I think is gonna be still in the draft him and distance pageant from Louisville. Not just saying that because I went to Louisville, but I've seen this guy played throughout his career. He finished it up, but well, he started it off with it. What a great senior bowl when he finished it up with a great pro day as well. Money in your four fours, So I'm looking forward to seeing him. Then you got Tyler wallet. She got power from Clinton you got say, sarette. So many guys that you can draft and I'm actually getting a lot of calls from a lot of teams, actually about these wide receivers to is there some point then Harry with that being said that we should stop obsessing over wide receivers in the first round every year, when every year it feels like they're good wide receivers available. 2nd 3rd 4th. I'll tell you that. This is my always been my philosophy when it when it came to the wide receiver position, and I hate that. I'm saying it because I played the position, but you could literally go get somebody off the street and train them for a good two or three months and they could play receiver. You can't get anybody to go play old line. You can't get anybody to play defense a line. You can't get anybody to play corner. That's why you may see a veteran in the league and corner playing what 13 14 years in. It's because you just can't find corners like that. Especially in the past, had the NFL that we have now, too..

"The ESPN after Action Channel 80 and some against us by to hang out with us. They're here, thanks to the Goodyear Hotline. So we got the Super Bowl Participants are gonna be known in about two weeks and two days because we have championship weekend this weekend on the end of seaside Green Bay versus Tampa Bay. On the FC side you have buffalo versus Kansas City, and those were really minor stories in the NFL, especially comes to coaching hires, including the Atlanta Falcons, bringing in off the Smith was bringing a man who played for that team. The Atlanta Falcons, part of his NFL career. He is the host of the H D Connection. A great job by Harry Douglas, one wide receiver in the NFL. He is here on Freddie Fitzsimmons. I'm going to start because a little birdie Harry whispered in my ear known as my producer Chris Mitchell, that you and Arthur Smith have been good friends for more than a minute. So what kind of man are the Atlanta Falcons getting with their new head coach? Well, First of foremost, they're getting a stand up guy and I had the pleasure of being coached by Arthur. When I first went to Tennessee in 2000 and 15. He was on the staff. There. We develop a relationship that we still carry today and I just think the Falcons did a great job within this higher because one thing I know about Arthur's that he's always trying to grow every day. He's always trying to be the best coach. I was trying to be the best man that he could be. Hey demands excellent. Right. But he also is the type of coast and listen to his players listens to his coaches always trying to figure out the best. What's what's best for the team was best for the organization was best for the office. And that's the kind of person that you that you will, um, as your head coach for Atlanta Falcons organization. I grew up in Atlanta. So to have Arthur Smith, that kind of guy and need to know him personally be the vehicle to let us out is a bonus in the plus. And there's been a lot of big offensive names that came through this coaching cycle is from the play Calling perspective Toe overall offensive philosophy is what kind of philosophy does he bring to a team that is trying to rebuild? Right now? We don't know about Matt Ryan's future. We don't know if Julio Jones is going to be on the trading block. So what is he walking into? And what can his offensive philosophy do for this Falcons team? Well, I'll tell you this. I know. One of the things that Arthur Smith loves to do is the play action and to be efficient in the play action game, Courtney, you have to be able to run the ball successfully. That's why I thought it was a great higher for the Falcons because they struggle the last two years actually running the football successfully. So you bring anarchist Smith, another area that they struggled with last year. And the year before was red Zone and you look at artist Smith at the office, according to front of Tennessee Titans last year, the year before, there were top five in the red Zone both years. And when you have a guy who can give you a solid or put you in the best position for the run game to be solid, and that play action game is running, and we see what Kyle Shanahan does. That's the thing about are his office is a little bit of Madeleine. Flora. Cash. Shanahan a little bit of Mike malarkey, a little bit of stuff that he's picked up on in years past, so He's integrated all these things into one offense, and when you look at the layout doctor's office you had met Ryan. A lot of people said his teachers unknown, but the cat hit That he that the Falcons would take. If he's not. There is gonna be huge. So that's another thing that you have to take into consideration. I think the same thing with Julio the day of money would be so much But hopefully both of those guys can stay. There is not it is what it is. I know one thing that Terry part, though, and Arthur Smith, they're going to do what's best for the focus organization. In any decision that those two guys make you have to live with, because you look at the body of work. Both of those guys who put in you look at cherry partner the year he the years he was at with the New Orleans Saints. Look at the teams that they have been assembled while he while he was there under that organization, you look at Arthur Smith. Look at all the things that he had had done with the Tennessee Titans when he got his opportunity, so the decision that those two guys make People. They're gonna have to live with them because I'll tell you this. I'm heavily involved in football, and I'm going to trust the decision that those 22 guys make 100% breast up by Harry Douglas played 10 years in the National Football League, now host of HD Connection him on Twitter. Aged August 83 joining Freddie Coleman and Courtney Cronin and Freddie efforts, Simmons and ESPN radio. When I say Eric, the enemy offensive coordinator, cancel the chief is still without a head coaching job. What does Harry Douglas say? That's a shame. Necessary. On. I'm trying to put my head around to wrap my head around it because it's none of it makes sense to me right because Uh, not that people say is that he doesn't call plays right? But did any other guys that came before him? Calm places he knows. So it's Z kind of those things where We need to get out of this month, but nothing is gonna change it. So the owners make the decision to change, right? Nothing is gonna change until the head coaches that are hired hire guys in these positions. Um, T move forward. That's one of things I like about Arthur Smith. When I'm looking at some of the guys that he's hired if I'm not mistaken, I think he's hired two or three black guys already on this coaching staff and one of them being a quarterback's coach..

"Going to play a soft zone against Drew Brees? That is like walking into a playground with a kick me sign taped to your back that I was befuddled. Either game plan on both sides of the ball. And while the execution was lacking as well, Tom braided in play well, some of the books secondary didn't play well. Coaching was there see out of order a little out of order on point? You could not be more on point that is a lucid, intelligent, well thought out. Objection. Freeze completed. Passes to seven different receivers in the first quarter, and we talked to a 10 year NFL vet and former wide receiver Harry Douglas, who played in that division over a long time against those Saints. He said. If you got placed all his own against us, and I'm I'm Emmanuel Sanders or Michael Thomas. I'm coming out or going through you. Look you see in this. What do you say? We're all going to eat tonight on? They didn't ever say everybody got a piece of that Tampa Bay pie, man. Everybody Gee spot on what you said. What she said, because everybody was to blame Coaches players, but you put together that kind of game plan. I don't know what was worse that game plan from Tampa Bay on what Pete Kallen Seattle Seahawks that we weren't prepared for Buffalo is going to do. We were surprised by the AP Cowboy making a judgment once in a while. It's okay to try. It is okay to try something different is something's not working. They didn't try anything different. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on either side of the ball one more thing on that on that game, because we did a lot on that game tonight, obviously, because that was the biggest overreaction. It is an overreaction to hike your leg right now, like a dog on a fire hydrant on Tampa Bay. Of course, that is a also a lot of people today. What sort of booking McFarland going? Well, maybe they aren't, a Super Bowl contender. That is a grotesque overreaction there still a contender. They had an awful night because it has happened to the Saints. It has happened to the Packers. It has happened in just about every team not named Pittsburgh or Kansas City. In the National Football League. Those things are gonna happen, but things those things always get called out when it comes to out of order, Simmons on Freddie Coleman and Freddy and Fitz Simmons, and don't forget pencil. Synthetic mortals are made from natural gas. It gives you unbeatable engine protection. "To talk that with a guy who played in the National Football League, he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons back in 2008 had a chance to have a productive NFL career. Catches a pleasure bringing Harry Douglas joining us here on Friday and Fitz Simmons. Thanks to sell pencils. Performance line. Hit him onto what? H. Doug was 83 Harry. I'm reading your Twitter handle. You said NFL seems so far. Ryan Flores is your early vote for Coach of the year when it comes to the Miami Dolphins? Why him? I'll just say that when you look at the Miami Dolphins in their football team coaches always talk about playing complementary football. And when you look at the Dolphins, and they're in their team, they could beat you. Office. They could beat you on defense like a beetle special teams, and you see that against the Rams last week on the game that they actually beat the Rams. A TTE home and I just think blind floor if he made the decision to go ahead and start to a tunnel below. A lot of people gave him a lot of grief about it, but he trusted himself. And he made it known. That, too, is not audition, too is out there to play the game of football and give them the best chance to win and we actually seeing it against the hairs on the Cardinals this past week. You mentioned Arizona. What would it be like to play with a quarterback of the athletic ability and arm talent like collar Murray? Listen, that young man, especially in every way possible, running the football, throwing the football, creating plays on ways to deliver for football team and I know fish jail D hop. And all those guys over there excited to be able to play with him because I don't I don't think it's the water. I don't think Fitzgerald actually had a quarterback. Like calamari in his career, so I know he's excited about that. But for me to be able to play with a guy like that, who You can scramble and get away from a from a pass for us, but he rushes the football, but he's looking to throw the football first and then rush second. So whenever you have a guy like that your football team is always going to be in the game. Harry. How surprised are you that he's been able to make this kind of adjustment and really adapt this quickly in his NFL career when it comes to column Murray Well, I'm not surprised because he's so quick, twitchy. Right? And and he's already small, so defenders have a hard time even locating and wonder where he is. And then he has the athleticism to get away from arrest. Get away from a blue. Take it the distance as we see them doing so many times this year, so I'm not surprised. Harry Douglas 10 YEAR NFL vet joining us here on ESPN Radio with Freddie Coleman on me and Fitz Simmons knows the game inside and out, and I'm very excited just to hear your answer to this next question. If you were a wide receiver on the New Orleans Saints, and you saw soft zone coverage as much as they played against Drew Brees last night. What would your reaction have been? Come on, boys. Let's go have a date date 20. I'll bump that up because I played against the Saints a lot. And when my last year with the Falcons, it was me Rodeo, Roddy, Julio Jones and Devin Hester in the same receiver, Good Mars and we've put on We played the saint the first game and we basically with the entire game picking your poison. I think all of us had over. 50 60, plus yards receiving in that game, and we actually want so I know exactly what that was like, But the New Orleans thinks they couldn't manner. They couldn't do that. I actually think that the other thing now the team that was out there last night. You can't play those guys man because It's not like they're there's athletics to beat you one on one, so I don't understand the concept and what you're facing Jewelries. You have to get pressure on them, especially up the middle. But you have to disrupt his timing because They're looking to get the football out quickly. How much did Michael Thomas just being back out on the field. The numbers weren't great, but just his presence being out there. How much does that impact the game? Well, I think tremendously because you you look at Michael Thomas and you look at a guy like Julio Jones. Right. Listen, just them being out there on the football field. It tells you what coverage you're going to get over those guys. So you pretty much know what you're gonna get on this. Now You just have to figure out what they're going to play on the opposite side. When they're not out. Their defence is to bring all kind of exotic blitzes. They could throw off the things that she but having players of his caliber out there on the football field, please place who's dividends to other guys. And you see other guys on this team has made place over the last few weeks, but Michael Thomas being there the same thing, Different ball club. No question about it. Harry Douglas played 10 years in the National Football League, has a wide receiver joining us on Friday, and Fitz Simmons on ESPN radio and serious except Channel 80 in the MBA. There was a time that there was Michael Jordan fatigue. In the end now, the time that made people pat LeBron James for tea, But I mean by that is Harry. You forget how great someone is. You look with somebody else. Can we really say at that point with Patrick Mahomes, the quarterback of Kansas City already listen to this. If I play with Patrick, Behold, No, no. Listen, nothing against Matt Ryan and Marcus Mario. The guys I played with, but to play with Patrick Holmes is a treat like those guys get down Big football games, and they never blinked a high because They have packed up my homes as the trigger man, and that he could lead them back at any moment, and we've seen it too many times. I think he's seven and one I've seen some today He's 70 71 in the last eight games that he's actually trailed Biggin. And that's Ted alone. That's unheard of, especially the National Football League, because if you get a big in the National Football League, the chances are you're not going to come back from that. Because seems just that good and God is just they're good at their profession. My passion, my homes. Listen, will say he's the best yet because you still have that guy out there named a rod who's a bad man. He definitely called the long line. That's the reason I asked. That question is because before the season even got started, even during the season so far. Russell Wilson, leading candidate for MVP, because of quarter of being Seattle, Josh Allen, with the great study hat with the Buffalo Bills. You mentioned Aaron Rodgers. You seem to forget how great he was with the Green Bay Packers. Meanwhile, packing holes going well, who do you know what I did last year? The Super Bowl and in the playoffs last year and a former league MVP, But yet It seems that people have not forgotten about him. But I think they don't understand exactly he maybe only scratching the surface of our great He's going to be Harry. Where you at with that? Is that? Well, we live in a world you don't understand. We live in a world where everyone's like what the next best thing. What's next? Who's coming up next? And what? Patrick, My home's He's won a nd T award. He's one of Super Bowl in a Super Bowl in DP, So they're looking for the next quarterback coming up and saying, Who is this gonna be? And right now, the VP has to go to in my patch in my home when you have 20 plus touchdown, and only one interception in your team is winning, and you have one love. Listen, I have to speak volume. I don't care what anyone has to say about that. I'm with you one name. Blame with Freddy's not his head. I mean, in step right? The gods will be told another big topic, right? Yes. Take it from the mountaintops. Another big conversation today was alright. What happened in Tampa Bay? Oi, the Steelers man..

"And coach Mike Variable and everybody's hype on the Titans, especially what they did last year. I'm still not sold on Ryan Tannehill coming back in performing like he did, despite the contrary, so staying with that Air Sea north. I look at the Colts and I got big love for two shot. Watson. I think that seems incredibly dangerous could compete for Super Bowl this year, but the team nobody seems to be talking about for the Colts. Ready. The courts could maybe be the best team in the FCC, and they're not getting that love. Are you sold on this team, and if not them, who's another team? I said, I think it's in himself is at North. It's going North is my Bangles, the South and the South. I'm going with the culture Is that the team? You believe it? Or is there another team in this NFL? That's not getting love. Similar to the lack of love. I think these culture not getting Well, when you look at the cold, One thing they do have is the best offense the lines in all of of NFL football. So when you look at that you get a veteran quarterback in Philip Rivers. You draft a Jonathan Taylor and you have a ball in Mac. Not to mention you have while I predicted Michael Pittman or tea. Higgins going to Indianapolis and I say this because I played a year in Tennessee under the offense that Philip Rivers has been in his entire career. I know he loves big jump ball receivers. So it was very imperative that they've got a receiver like that, because that was that's what Philip Rivers love and he loves to put a foot ball down the field so big. I could just jump up and kick in. So I think that's gonna be Plus for them, Plus I love what they did with the trade with the force, but they're huge defence. I tell people all the time. People love the eye candy. They love the receivers. They love the quarterback's love the running backs. Football games are won. You're often salon in your defense a lot. There. The games are won in the trenches. You can control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The chances are we're gonna be there. 10 year. NFL wide receiver veteran Harry Douglas is joining us now here in Spain and feds and Harry, I want to talk about your former team Last year, the Falcons win seven and nine. Probably not what anyone was saying. They add Todd Gurley in the off season, Everyone seems to be healthy. Now. What are the expectations this year for Atlanta? Look what the expectations are high. Will you look at that Ryan and for the last two years for the popular what 79 both years didn't have the years. They they they wanted tohave. Matt Ryan takes that person. I played with him. I was drafted with him in 2008. He has a ton of respect for this game and how to approach it and what to get out of it, so I think they're going to do a great job. Now I do have a slight concerns with the left guard position because that's what I tell them back a little bit office last year. So I'm looking to see if Matt Hennessy or James Carpenter to any one of those guys pick up the slack from last year when you looked defensively when they brought in, Don't say flat power that would keep That was when he had the relationship with Dan Quinn before the plan of the University of Florida. So that played a big role in it, but in the number one draft pick for them a data really a lot of people here that I didn't like the pick initially. I love the pig because This is a perfect defense and a perfect scheme or play like a date a real toe, Reda react jump routes and things of that nature. Plus, he's going to get the Julio generals in the cavalry Lee every day of practice so he can only get better something important, watching him play. Also looking forward to the NFL season on Thursday, 10 Year NFL wide receiver veteran Harry Douglas. Thank you for the time. Enjoy your labor day. We appreciate it. No problem. The hottest couple on the block on radio baby, We're going to make that a drop Harry. That's what you do, and we appreciate it..

"And we're glad you're with us on this Monday for the Giants and the Diamondbacks. 19 games to go in this season for the Giants right in the middle of a playoff chase. So every game is so important for Giants team that really is pushing and hoping to get their place of playoff games in this strange year. I'll see if they can do it. Giants have three more games on the homestand, including tonight to against the Mariners tomorrow and Wednesday, and then the Giants go on their final road trip of the season. All right, let's get to the starting lineups for tonight's game. Sponsored by Comcast business, offering solutions to help home based businesses maximize performance of the focus remains on products and customers Hard, of course, source. They did Right Spain offices presented by progressive Insurance, So we're gonna head out now to the shell. Pennzoil performance lying to talk to you nine year NFL former wide receiver Harry Douglas, Harry. Thanks for being with us. Happy Labor Day to you. How are you doing today? I'm doing Well, I've been working all day like like y'all have, so I'm excited. I love it. Okay, So, Harry, I feel like a lot has been made this week of dish on Watson's contract extension, as probably it should be. And let me just remind everyone listening in case you forgot the NFL season kicks off this Thursday. So we're within the week, but I got to forgive her mind saying, reminding everyone listening. Harry, with all the roses that seemed to be surrounding the Texans. They do lose their number one ride receiver over 1000 yards receiving last year and DeAndre Hopkins, But and then, if you remember in the playoffs, it was, you know, Bill O'Brien was making all kinds of suspect decisions. It seems like So really, the Texans not going to skip a beat this year, like what do you think happens in Game one against Patrick Mahomes? Well, I think it's gonna be a lot closer than a lot of people think it's going to be. Because when you look at this team, I love the work the way they're built. Yes, she traded away. DeAndre Hopkins. What? You dating a David Johnson two pair him with Duke Johnson in the backfield, and now you look at the receiving group. You have Multiple guys to get the job job doing versus just had in that one star receiver. So you know you have willfully you have branded cooks. You have Randall Cobb. You have Kenny steals and you still have the young guys taking Q T. And then you re signed their sales in free agency. So you're looking for the solid I'm officer standpoint, Harry. I want to talk about the FC East. I know the conversation inevitably goes to the Patriots and rightfully so in years past because of their dominance there, But is this the year? That there's a change in the guard is this the year that Buffalo could finally capitalized on a Tom Brady List A. F C East and a rebuilding Patriots team because Speak. Let's be clear about this. Eight guys opting out due to covert that play port roles for this team is this the year to believe the bills? Well, I believe in the bills. I believe in last year, they actually stood a won the playoff game that had against the Texans. And, Well, we look at this Buffalo Bill's football team. I'd call them take a lot of Panthers of the East because you have so many guys came on that Kayla Kayla on a three With Tom McDermott. That's up there with him now, and I just love with ability defense. Now the Stefan big straight was huge for them. Now. I think they have a top five receiving cord in the National Football League and the fact that their buffalo I don't think a lot of people see them as being that good, but they really are nice. Hand them together will Trio if you would stay with Stefan, Big John Brown and cold easily Harry. Harry Douglas Rather joining us on this labor day. I keep wanting to say, Memorial Day. I do that always confused. Also do that with wedding and funerals, which is probably weird. I just tell you what I do that sometimes I think that definitely definitely over it. Weird fall here. You're right, Harry. So this morning, the Dolphins named Ryan Fitzpatrick, their starting quarterback this year, which I don't think came as a surprise to anyone. But the question is now Windows to a finally see the field right? Is the starting quarterback, too. See, I think it comes probably around week seven when they return home and face the Tula teams back to back at home. That's kind of halfway through the season. The schedule lightens up a little bit there. Do you think two. It comes in midway through the season earlier on Not at all. What are your thoughts? I think it all the pins own half its magic place. If it is magic is working. I think you can hold two out a little longer. Now that things get a little dicey, and he's not performing capabilities. I thank you. You look at a game where you could bring you in. Well, he can have success. So if it if it struggles early on for the first two weeks for the Dolphins, I looked at the Jacksonville game. If not, then I look more to the timber. Denver Denver Broncos game. It's so hard to play in Denver, though. I mean, you would know better than me. I'm over here Speaking like like, What am I talking about? I know. I guess I should say this. I know that many former players and players have told me it's really hard to play in Denver. So would you really throw two in When they're when they're at mile high. Well. Jewess to, uh you know, I have a lot of faith into us and how poised he wasthe Covenant. So the national championship gained as a freshman and being able to deliver in the second half. I don't think the moment is ever going to be too big for two. So I just have to bet you drafted. You drafted him high for reason. So being worried about him going on the road at Denver. I don't think that should be any concerns. You know, Harry, you might call me crazy for this one. I'm a shift over the F C South and look, Jadeveon Clowney joins those Titans reunited with his former defense of coin coordinator and coach Mike variable and everybody's hype on the Titans, especially what they did last year. I'm still not sold on Ryan Tannehill coming back and performing like he did Despite the contrary, so staying with that Air Sea north. I look Att. The Colts and I got big love for two shot Watson. I think that teams incredibly dangerous could compete for Super Bowl this year, but the team nobody seems to be talking about. The Colts, and I think the courts could maybe be the best team in the A F. C and they're not getting that love. Are you sold on this team and if not them? Who's another team? I said, I think it's an AMC self, said North, It's going North is buy Bangles the South in the South. I'm going with the culture Is that the team? You believe it or just there Another team in this NFL that's not getting love similar to the lack of love. I think these culture not getting Well, when you look at the cold, One thing they do have is the best offense the lines in all of of NFL football. So when you look at that you get a veteran quarterback in Philip Rivers, you draft a Jonathan Taylor and you have a model inmate. Not to mention you have hit..

"Is where you need to be right now the big shout outs to Mr Harry Douglas up a colon up here on the J. R. sport reformer teammate Julio Jones current analyst for the Atlanta Falcons and you know who better to ask Antonio brown if you have not heard or you just tuned in he basically was on Instagram because that's where everybody is right now not too much going on the sports world it's only brown said I'm the best receiver in the game so who will be able to look up the stats I got more touchdowns than Julio Jones had in the past five years and I took a year off that is Antonio brown on Julio Jones and you know Harry Douglas who just joined us basically said you know Julio is a complete wide receiver does everything in in my opinion this is me speaking now it's easy to point at Julio's lack of touchdowns and I said this in the in the first break when when we started I said that Julio doesn't have the touchdowns because he has every single defender on him it's it's real simple and Julio has stated himself it counts specifics whether I'm catching it Hooper who's no longer on the team is catching it or Ridley or whatever the case may be it doesn't matter six six if he gets the yards I believe he has more yards per catch over the past several years than any wide receiver so my opinion it will it it's embarrassing for Antonio brown even say I took a year off unit take a year off you will cut your behavior caused you to be cut now having said that you can't ignore the talent of Antonio brown when he's actually on the field if you take away all the nonsense well it's only a brown is an amazing wide receiver he just has conducted himself as a knuckle head okay so I I can understand if someone says yeah A. B. it's a better receiver than Julio I'm not saying that but I can see if someone wants to make that argument I want to know what you think we heard what Harry thinks of you heard what I think we want to.

"A full show coming up today this is big news in the end of an NFL tomorrow actually listen up the gonna be voting on an expanded playoffs so we're gonna be talking about that it's only brown yes the man who's not playing wide receiver in the NFL he actually has some thoughts I don't know why he's charming and I guess he still looking for work he has some thoughts about Julio Jones we will be discussing man I'm going to bring in someone who actually play with Julio Jones his name is Harry Douglas we're going to talk to Harry about wholly owned its own your brown the stats and the numbers who thinks who is better not Steeler Brian McFadden former Steeler Brian McFadden current CBS sports network analyst we're gonna be talking to him shortly as well about this NFL us a play off change and then also there's a lot of talks about sports meeting fans Arthur blank owner of the falcons missed a home depot himself will apply within the world he says that you know it's not a guarantee that when the NFL comes back later this year that you know we're going to see fans and a stand so there's a lot to talk about the NBA is still trying to figure out how they can go about completing their season there is definitely a lot to cover with a lack of sports I mean my weekend was was pretty interesting I spent it watching documentaries I watch it I enjoyed Michael Jordan putting up sixty nine points against the the Cleveland Cavaliers I mean so it that that becomes a point in time was just like man how many more replays can I watch of games that I've seen it's like it's like that show that with that creepy guy stands in front of the it's like a sci fi show he goes this is a story of a weird thing that you've never seen from some place that you don't want to go and I I feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone right now without live sports I I feel like I'm in The Twilight Zone I know a lot of people are are reminiscing a Tom Brady you know actually had the gall in the nerve over the weekend so put a post up on his social media how to speed up one's table you saw was a speaker at you know because that that that come back that twenty eight three Super Bowl comeback against the falcons was broadcast one replay in Tom Brady just wanted to rob him a little bit more kinda saying I'm so nervous I don't know what's going to happen of course you know Tom Brady what happened unfortunately falcons fans know what happens and everybody else who isn't a fan of Tom Brady and the patriots knew exactly what happened so it's a it's a wow world out there and you know a little people or quite a few people are still going stir crazy in the words of Mr Jon bones Jones who was arrested once again in Albuquerque New Mexico he wasn't the only person that's been having an issue someone who's had a which is a tough time in general Mr Aubrey Huff the San Francisco Giants already told him you know before the world went to where it is right now the San Francisco Giants told Aubrey Huff listen do you been tweeting pretty reckless here whether it be about guns or politics or or how you feel about people you know you've been tweeting pretty well and unfortunately even though you helped us win a World Series we're not gonna bring it back for the anniversary you know you're a little too hot right now in Aubrey Huff had a problem about that it you know Hey you know this resources can and can't be scarce and in certain parts of the country right now Anna Aubrey Huff once again you know even at that scene with twenty six home runs that improbable World Series run Aubrey Huff wanted to let everyone know again over the weekend you know that that he wasn't happy that just like everybody else he's going shopping he's going out into the world but he had one particular issue and I want to play you a clip that Aubrey Huff put on his social media and it's been edited for clarity in for your listening pleasure listen Aubrey Huff and his complaint over the weekend I just left three different grocery stores trying to find toilet paper my question is how is there no toilet paper on the shelves but there's plenty of groceries plenty of booze I don't get this and for all you mothers got their their hoarding a toilet paper I hope your goals follow well okay Aubrey Huff you know obviously if you couldn't so he's extremely upset about the lack of toilet paper in his his local establishment and you know what is it is a question what is he wants all the papers so bad in in ways we've been for the past two and a half weeks I mean where's the bit next thing you know Aubrey Huff is going to be online complain about the lack of hand sanitizer available so I don't know what rock Aubrey Huff has been living under but I hope your weekend was slightly better than his and if we can actually get NFL football back you know there's a good chance by the time we get to the playoffs and hopefully twenty twenty one that we may be seeing off view more teams basically fill out the playoffs okay this is what it boils down to we know that the NFL players basically voted for a new CBA good we're gonna have labor peace we're gonna have games etcetera we may move to seventeen games but we pretty much set to have NFL football for the next ten years the union and the teams agreed and bone there you have it another aspect that is likely almost certainly going to be finalized tomorrow is an expense in the playoffs okay that is something that was basically agreed upon but tomorrow it has an opportunity to push forward and become official so instead of the twelve teams that you currently see in the playoffs the NFL can actually expand to fourteen teams in the playoffs this upcoming season that would amount to approximately forty three percent of the NFL in the playoffs does that dilute the pool are you afraid that you're going to get more you know loser teams in there not necessarily aren't you if we were going to go ahead and expand the playoffs if we look at this past season you know who would get in the Saint Louis art books use me not the St Louis rams the the the the Los Angeles rams right now with the the ugly logo that R. Dickerson wants to change but you would get the rams in the playoffs as well as the Steelers who sat at eight in eight I mean I'm not going to complain about more football I will certainly take an extra game I'll take a triple header of football on wild card weekend I will gladly take it but do I want to risk seeing the team that already deserves a being in the playoffs play an extra game do I want to see it seem that barely got there get in is it more exciting to have a a potential spoiler team come to do that work in the the regular season as opposed to the post season I think it was great this past season when you have the Miami Dolphins basically upset of the New England Patriots in the the regular season and pretty much force the New England Patriots to playing that first round and we know what happened in that first round they met the Tennessee Titans they met Derrick Henry who ran all over them and the New England Patriots will put out of the first round of the playoffs twenty eight to thirteen the fun work appen in the regular season if you ask me and do you dilute the playoff poll by bringing in a rams team who was no where near what they were in the Superbowl or the Superbowl season the year prior and then also the Steelers I mean what do you do did those two teams deserve to be there not at all you know what and in that scenario if we're going to expand the playoffs to fourteen scenes only the number one seed is actually going to go out in received a bye you know so you get more football but is it a better quality of football is it something that's actually just going to keep you busy yeah I mean I would I would hedge against it in that regard but I'll take more football V. the other aspect of it okay well offensively it's not gonna happen this season but what happens when we expand to seventeen games in a regular season for these NFL players how are they gonna now half the set to perform when you put in seventeen games and then you have an extra scene that's joining you know it makes getting that number one seed all the more important because everybody wants that extra bye in the playoffs it's great when you get to watch your opponents that you have to face beat the snot out of each other right though the week prior it's great it's amazing in the NFL if you're looking at it from that perspective which is pretty much their perspective as it should be it's all about the money I mean NFL teams have been trying to to to figure out how they can squeeze another game in and eventually we're going to get seventeen games eventually they're going to say you know what we don't need a pre season game we don't need all these pre season games and why not add another playoff scene or couple playoff seems why because that goes on television advertising revenue people will fill up the stands concessions that they there's there's so much people will buy more jerseys and drink more beer this so many elements from a business perspective that goes ahead and and you don't lines the owners pockets but from a fan's perspective you know let's let's let's look at things over the past several years you know when is the last time when you talk about extra teams an extra football and more football hasn't always worked out was the last time you really been excited about Monday Night Football I saw the Kansas City Chiefs lighted up two years ago I feel like they they they put up video game numbers two years ago but what is the last time you've been excited about Thursday night football me not so much I'm glad that its own I it gives me something to watch but you know how many times I've turned on the television and said okay I don't know if I want to watch these two bottom teams play I'll I'll gladly pass I'll check in and out of the game because I know the quality isn't there in every now and then as it does didn't help either and this is just a matter of X. a static it's a matter of look at you know I don't need the gimmicks like stop what the color rush jerseys I don't need to see two highlighters running around on the football field I'll pass you know what give me more football I will be happy if the NFL goes ahead and expands and I expect this vote to go through tomorrow I'm happy with it I'm cold but not at the expense of quality at least it seems that a getting in for the most part they're going to be French teams are gonna be eight and eight they're gonna be nine and seven and you know what we may get some more it seems that that actually go on a run so eventually be eliminated but they will actually be in probably go on a run the more football the better but not at the expense of quality and also not at the expense of injury the NFL season is long enough it's difficult enough it's tough enough you know we don't need to see the impact that comes down the line in several years where players and more players are injured because they're playing more football in a shorter window of time you're gonna have to stack those new wild card teams up back to back and you can forget about saying okay let's make it a gimmick in playing these games in a week no body wants that so when we come back I'm actually going to talk to someone who is very familiar with the playoff fight and getting into the playoffs and then and actually being a great NFL player his name is Brian McFadden if plan a defensive back for the Pittsburgh Steelers right now he's an analyst for the CBS sports network on all things football is the general.

"So Gina, when when we think about where the giants are as a franchise in, we'll get to offense in a little bit in align manning that mess. But thinking about this giants defense, do you feel like the falcons are still going up against these guys capable of putting up the thirty plus they have been in their games at home this year? Yeah, I really do. I mean, the giants should be better than they are on defense. I think that they're still just kind of acclimating to this new leadership structure in all of that, but they, they have plenty of talent on that side of the ball. It's just they haven't played very cohesively and I think that I wouldn't expect that to change dramatically before Monday night. And so I think that you know, it should be it's not gonna be easy. No came as easy, especially for the team. Mm-hmm. The, you know, they typically give a heart attack every single. But yeah, I think that this is I feel really good about going into the game, and that's something that I haven't said all season like I actually picked the falcons to win in our picks, which I've not published yet. But yeah, I think that this is a winnable game, and I think that that's the main reason because, frankly, I don't trust the falcons defense to do anything, so it's always on the offense. And yes, I think the offense can get it done against us, giants defense. On your thoughts on this matchup in whether the falcons can put up yet another thirty burger, maybe even maybe in a forty burger on this giants defense. I think they'll have to put up at least thirty in what bodes well for the falcons is this game is being played in New York. It's not gonna be cold out. It's being played at the vans where Matt Ryan has touchdown interception ratio thirteen to one this year. He's been incredible when not having to play in Pennsylvania, though I'm down completely boycott playing strip and boycott everything about Pennsylvania. Position. Tired. Called. My gosh, I've had the worst. We work and I'm exhausted if cannot tell like if I could just get into bed. I'm sitting on my bed right now and I might just stay here not get it tomorrow morning. The best of us. But yeah, this giants defense, they helped Charlotte names in. I think that they struggled from the fact that alleviate Vernon wasn't in the lineup until very recently, and he's just now getting back. He's just now getting acclimated, but I don't think this offense is gonna have a problem putting up points now if Ridley in new or both out, invite a little more difficult. But Matt Ryan is someone who threw for four thousand yards twenty thirteen with Harry Douglas as primary number one receiver for most of the season. Any turn Harry Douglas until one thousand yard receiver. Herod Dessel thousand yard season by the way ever. I know another one of my saints fan friends trolls me about her Douglas all the time. And so. N. from how from hell his clumsy cell phone tripped against the forty Niners when we should have gone to. Tuck them down. He had the skinny Avs. There's no way he was no match for the turf monster. Also number forgive him for that play. But that's beside the point. Harry Douglas. He had some good years, but my God when just keep your footing in you, have you have a walk in Kutch down. More alcohol forgot to go. That's fair. Yeah. So the four, we go down the road of all of the falcons victories have driven to alcoholism. Let's shift gears senior figures to the the other matchup which always brings us a little bit of pain into dozen eighteen and that is the giants offense going up against his falcons defense. So on, I'll start with you. The giants offense is. It's funny they, they actually have some really intriguing players..

"A report i'm not talking about like a fight during training camp or a fight internally in the locker room i'm talking about somebody who was in a camp telling a reporter that one teammate wants to beat another teammates ass has that ever been a story in the last twenty years can anybody come up with a single time when a story like this has happened this is a massive story and it was a massive story mall daylong it's the number one story in sports honest question can anybody come up with a story that has ever been reported where one teammate has said i'm not talking about somebody saying they want to beat somebody else's ask that's rare but it happens every now and then where somebody talks about an opponent you'll get a quote like if i remember back in the day jordan robber parishes one example i mean that was a long time ago that how rare george even harder opposite even on opposite teams i'm also thinking wasn't there like some sort of dispute over a over a late hit like harry douglas somebody wanted to be harry douglas owner was this this past year with the key to leap right okay a keeps aleve and harry douglas in the nfl but those are opposite teams that was so rare that somebody says that that we came on and talk optimal net claes as one of the one of the point here a leg instead stephen a quoted this as if he would be users nasa's will not meant to be taken literally so you quoted that way than the second thing he did was he challenged low peron who never got a quote from in the first place he also makes clear to admit that yes somebody told him something the braun might have said and this situation and he put it out there but he's like i i welcome the chant highly rajoub's he had the may lebrun 'cause he gave him runway ceo actor stephen a for his reply go ahead no not well you focused bachelors door you're not i still think it is i cannot the fight line that was my whole point we know the thief was a big story the fight line was not going to be the biggest story and.

"I implore everyone to check it out about the rise of the titans on nfl dot com uh your thoughts about where decker fits in in terms of being an important piece of this puzzle he fits in perfectly because john robinson their general manager looked at this roster and he knew it wasn't it wasn't ready the wide receiver group and the secondary were not really ready to compete in the afc and he has attacked that aggressively he did it in the draft with three pass catchers in the first three rounds including cory daves and i think decker still has a lot to give we talked about last week as a as a potential quality starting wide receiver so to add a veteran to restored matthews and now you have cory davis you have taiwan taylor you have delaney walker of course you don't need decker to put 1200 yards up he's just of one guy in the mix and i love it if you love marcus maryoto like west does to see him finally have some weapons around him is nice the greatest thing marcus mario to ever did was get it out of his rookie season alive king you name that tightens leading rusher in two leading wide receivers for mario does rookie season which was just two years ago uh ma'am i can't i can remember it on walker would have been one of the real leading receiver but not wideouts not not not rush of say two leading what else in yards were doria green beckham and harry douglas m and the leading rusher was antonio andrews while level a they've got dimond they've got demarco murray derek henry you've got cory davis entail on taylor's rookies decker and delaney walker rashard matthew solid that is going from two thousand fifteen to two thousand ten seventeen that's about a dramatic ever makeovers you could possibly have and surrounding towns.

"I don't know now than one would have noticed outside the locker room with a that's harry douglas is a trips he your locker hey girl okay so for the last couple weeks we haven't been in studio together because they've been early start so i get to do post kept in postgame i've received a lotta calls numerous goals you don't so i'm disgruntled fans about the all offense this off against bigs the play calling is terrible they will have a running game it is all this still correctable with three games the play is there first ration i get the first rate should it is justified i get that but you know they go a little bit overboard isn't a bit of an overreaction well i mean you're off fences dan in terms of totally already shuts down in the league's bottom quarter but it just had a game where you're ran for eighteen yards on nine carries in one of the nine carries a little was fumbled but the first ration i think it's justified and then and if you just go to the raw numbers in terms of points on the scoreboard accounted for by the off fans the twenty three points in the last two games now i get that done against a team that and others stretcher broncos fans thought they were going to be able to get it done against is the all offense to conservative are they trying to play the don't beat yourself scenario and will make a play on special teams and defense will be the difference in the game i don't think there to concert i don't thing is to conservative in a winning i think if anything last week because the run wasn't working in philly got away from up conservative yeah gameplan you're trying to you know you know a lot of the throws a trevor siemian made that meant they man may not be twenty or thirty or forty yards down field but they're outside the numbers now if you place that ball perfectly it's a great pass because it's very difficult intercept cause you throwing you know outside shoulder the defender can get to it so if the quarterback to get the ball there it's a great it's a great.
