Right-wing militias are gearing up for an armed response on Election Day
"News National correspondent Michael Bauer. Michael I just mentioned there. Ah, couple of states at high risk for militia. Activity today and or tonight just exactly what does that mean? I think I know what militia means. But then charity told me that the Miriam Webster Dictionary today said that hot dog was a sandwich and we know that's not true. Hot dogs. I Oh, yeah, Dogs very much. So. So, what are we talking about here? Well, look there, according to and again, this is a group. I didn't even know how to report. But the armed conflict location and event data project, along with a group called Militia Watch, They are determined and have determined the areas susceptible to right wing militia groups with the most volatile area situated in state capitals and surrounding towns. Now the reason they're bringing this up is because not only have they seen over the summertime, a development that has some of these right wing organizations. Uh, give plenty of names like the proud boys. The Patriot Prayer oath Keepers. Three percenters. Not only have they become more emboldened and also feel empowered, but they've also become more assertive with activities ranging from intervening in protests to organizing kidnapping plots. Tow target elected officials as we know from Michigan. Now, the concern here is that what we've seen from Over the better part of the last couple of months with the black lives matter, protests moving into election here and calls on all sorts of levels for protests following the election if it doesn't go on persons way, I mean, even President Trump yesterday at two different rallies, talking about how there would be violence in the streets based upon Pennsylvania, and the call that the Supreme Court made to allow Pennsylvania have three extra days to count balloting that that was going to lead to violence in the streets and pointed specifically at places like Philadelphia. Cool. It is probably no shock to anybody that Pennsylvania makes a list of the top five Cities states. I'm sorry that have concerns over militia Oregon, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin. Those air all areas that they're looking at concerns that these militia groups and other armed non state actors are going to pose a serious threat to the safety and security of American voters. Now, on a lesser level, the moderate risk Has places like North Carolina, Virginia, California, New Mexico and Texas. Now, what does that mean? I mean, these guys were like loaded up they've been doing. They're practicing their rehearsal. They've been going out and shooting to get themselves in top shape so that they could prepare for whatever goingto happen after the election. I don't know. I don't know what that necessarily means. As far as preparation goes, But the concern is they're active and they're ready. And what you're hearing from the president now talking about not just Inducing violence in the streets in this election, but pointing to that and not doing anything by the way to quell that not trying to subdue that not trying to say Hey, look, you've got armament. If you are an American citizen, and that's your vote. You can go out and use that boat today. In fact, he's kind of pointing to the fact that they're just will be violent. And then you see defense going up around the White House and then you see the boarding up of Buildings and stores in not just New York City in Manhattan, but also around Washington, D C and you start to go, man. This is not looking like the election day I was expecting to see happen, and then above and beyond that you got at least two states right there. In Texas Governor Abbott of these dispatched 1000 National Guard troops to major cities in anticipation of violence. Same thing in Massachusetts, and so The guards getting ready even though President Trump has not indicated he'll deploy them after the election, he could still do it and they're ready to go now. The

Texas counties still limited to one ballot drop-off spot for now, court says
"The battle of boxes were in the news this weekend, right here in the state of Texas as thie ongoing court battle continues this weekend over how many of these valid boxes per county Should be available. For mail in ballots. Historically, we've had one Ballot box per county. For those mail in ballots. And now it appears this case is going to continue. On and on because As it stands now. A federal judge has barred enforcement of governor Abbot's directive. That would limit counties to just one mail in ballot drop off location. So that happened at the beginning of the weekend. Then yesterday. Ruling was blocked by an appeals court. Late yesterday afternoon. That appeals court granted a temporary stay. That Let's stand Governor Abbot's one box per county directive. The court gave the attorneys of posing governor Abbot's order. Until tomorrow to respond. So all this And then a three judge. Appeals panel is going to decide whether additional ballot boxes Can be used. Or not. So as it stands right now Travis County will continue accepting completed mail in ballots at one location. That's a 55 01 Airport Boulevard. That's Monday through Friday. The weekend hours are set to begin next Saturday. Travis County clerk a Dana Day, Beauvois said yesterday morning. Quote. So as it stands right now limitation on the number of ballot drop off locations in Texas. Will stay in place. I'm just throwing this in. Because it's somewhat related. To the previous stories I was talking about, but there's certainly not implying There's any chick a nunnery going on here. There's a tradition in the state of Texas that it was one Mail in ballot drop off location per county. That's the way it's been. That's what Governor Abbott says it needs to be going forward. And now this is going back and forth. In the courts. Where will it end up? Will it end up in the Supreme Court? Before Election Day Election day just over three weeks away, right

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott restricts mail-in ballot drop-off locations
"Tony Cruz with Jim Ryan Jim first. I mean, silly. Not at least get your reaction when you heard that both President Trump and Melania Trump Have Kobe 19 water. Things like that. They're in Texas boy that puts an interesting spin on this on this election cycle. Yeah. I mean, this thing this being 2020. It's almost hard to be surprised by anything that sure that certainly was surprised to hear that the president and first lady had tested positive. And and now we're ah, is sort of selfies leading at the White House waiting to see what happens. Next on Lena at this point is what the doctor Sean Connolly the White House position, He said that they're both doing well, you know, well. Doesn't say much about symptoms or anything else, but now it you just have to learn more of the coming days. What's precisely happening with him? Yeah, and and the impact to to your point as well. Let's talk a little bit about Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Pretty controversial situation. It would look like what it comes to voting in accounting and more than two million people. We just had ours expanded from eight Here in Jefferson County had eight locations now to 20, at least to get ready for November 3rd which probably still isn't enough, But what about there in the great state of Texas? Well, A lot of the counties have been adding drop off locations for early bounce fallacy is that you know, the request for mail in ballots have been skyrocketing. This year's people try to stay away from the polling places to avoid exposure to Over 19. So people are asking for these ballots. They're receiving them. They're filling them out. They have the option to mail them back in. But in the interest of ensuring that everything goes smoothly, A lot of voters are taking them to drop off locations. You drive through a location. There's an election worker there to take it from you. You don't have to get out of the car, even not to risk exposure that we'd drop it off and drive away. Hey, Harris County Court. Houston is had just added 12 of these drop off locations Travis County, where Austin is at added form or to their area. Both Dallas Tarrant County where Dallas and Fort Worth are. They each had one drop off location anyway, but the governor now has ordered that each county may have no more than one drop off location. What do Travis County and Harris County have in common? While they're run by Democrats and liberal Democrats at that, And you know the suspicion on the part of the States Democrats is that the Republican governor is trying to to mess with the election, trying to influence it unfairly. But Governor Abbott says he's simply trying to ensure that there is a boat security that there isn't the kind of fraud that could come with having multiple mail in ballot drop off locations. I'm sure that's very controversial. So with even the one location tell us about security. What does that look like? Yes, the will part of his thie announcement I made yesterday. The order that issued yesterday was that each of these drop off locations would have to allow at least two representatives of each candidate's various, You know, people who are running on the ballot, not just the presidents, but the down ballot candidates as well. Each would be allowed to have two representatives at each of these drop off locations also to ensure Vote security to ensure that the drop off locations or say are there are boats secure. You know, it's the same thing that President Trump has been talking about earlier this week, his insistence that in Pennsylvania some trump supporting ballot to our poll watchers were not allowed inside. Well here. Now that the governor is saying that poll watchers must be allowed inside, of course. Local election of officers in the various counties have said that that's always the

"I'll tell you something about that Sean that is everyone in your audience publicly remembers knock down drag out for the United States Senate between Beto O'Rourke and Ted Cruz There was a very effective and precise poll that was done at the time that election took place. It was an exit poll people who had already voted and believe it or not One of the questions poll is have you moved to Texas from California? In, the past five years and if so, who did you vote for Ted Cruz Juan the percentage fifty, eight percent of the people moved from California voted for Ted Cruz not for better work and the reason sean is this and that is the reason why they're fleeing. California the reason why they're fleeing new work and some other states and coming to Texas is because they're trying to get away from the liberalism socialism of these. Other states and they're coming to Texas for the freedom, and so we are importing the people who are freedom seeking people understand this. If you believe in more regulation more taxation, the elastic that you will leave as California and the last night you'll come to the state of Texas we believe low taxes, low regulations we believe in law enforcement and the rule of law, and so people know exactly what they're getting when they come. Here, and hence we are attracting the kinds of people who will keep Texas Texas I have friends who have my I have family members that have now moved to Texas, and you know, let me play for you. I'd never thought I'd hear this from a major political party. Let me play Biden dummy play Kamla Harris applauding the mayor's move to de Fund and Biden's police become the enemy listen surplus military equipment for law enforcement. They don't need that last thing you need is an up armored Humvee coming into a neighborhood just like the military and fading. They don't know anybody who could become the enemy they're supposed to protecting these people. So my generic point is that we agree that we can redirect of funding. Yes. Absolutely. One of the things that we also need to be doing is fundamentally changing the way and pushing it for years changing the way. We deal with our prison system. We got reexamine what we're doing with American taxpayer. Dollars s the question. Are we getting the right return on our investment? Are we actually creating healthy and safe communities and that's a legitimate conversation and it requires a really critical evaluation I plot Eric Garcetti for doing what he's done. Wow I mean. I. Never Thought I mean, that's that that is a major political parties, their candidates for President Vice President. Governor Sean that people must come to grips with, and that is this election were voting either for safe communities or dangerous communities. We're we're voting for law enforcement or by the rule of mob like what we saw in Seattle with the autonomous zone your voters very lives in property. Re remember that man and woman husband wife in Saint Louis, they had to pull out their own guns to defend their own property and defend. Their lives because the police were not there to help them out independent and so the Second Amendment and the ability to defend yourself in the ability to have safe insecure communities is on the ballot. They can't do anything right so far look at those liberal cities and so it's This is probably the most important election in our lifetime by far I've said it before this is this is real I irreparably harm if the stated policies are ever implemented I WANNA go to Bill Bratton was the first police. Chief under. Rudy Giuliani and new. York City what they did in New York to save lives is they. They looked specifically where the crimes happening, what are the streets? What are the locations? One of the neighborhoods they identified them then they implemented stop I. Remember about twenty, five, hundred murders a year was going on in New York they drove down way below five hundred lives are saved. Because it's tough policing measures. Now you've got a billion dollar cut and the and the street crime unit, which was the most effective in the NYPD been dismantled and I. You can see it is a discernible and scary difference right now on comrade the Blasios America here is the dire warning that former NYPD. Commissioner Bill. Bratton. gave us bad news is it's going take a while. And I don't see that turnaround happening anytime soon, we still have a city council. We still have a legislature. We still have a statement to the leadership that has focused on we've formed that reforms going to five, and now they're in the midst of a nominal budget crises and in the midst of all of this the idea of the political hashtags is driving public policy. You know de-fund the police powder Bob issue here It's hard to you know what success will look like when nobody is really defining what is success that with all over the place in the sense of The idea what do we want? We want reform we're type of reform. Do you want We want funding well, what do you mean with the funding effectively were mess? Can. We get out of it? Yes. can we get out of it anytime soon? No. We in for more bad times. Yes. But New Yorkers remain resilient but. This time it's going to be tough. It's GONNA be. Much much tougher to come out of this and for a lot of reasons but. hopefully, that before it reaches a point of no return we began to Stop working together to try to figure out what will success look like? What will the new New New York look like 'cause it will be a New York. It's never gonNA look like what it looked like in two, thousand, eighteen and nineteen I'm sorry that's it's it's true to that probably in our lifetime. Wow. Not returning to that not in our lifetime. That's the that's what I've been saying irreparable harm. If this stated policies are implemented now I've got to get out of New York one of these days and I'm really the two states that are probably foremost in my mind to move to or Texas and Florida, and now what I'm saying to people, you know if you take a U. Haul from California. To Texas at cost you around two thousand, twenty, five, hundred dollars depending where you coming from in California take it back from Texas..

You have to defeat this Guy President Obama make clear he believes that this is an existential threat and when I say this, he was talking about his successor, the man in the White House right now I, mean you almost saw it as a break glass in case of an emergency moment and he was breaking the glass. We're powerful words from the former president, the United States he didn't mince any of that and I think it was truly historic. Namely Anderson a history making speech from Harris and really history shaking speech by a President Obama. Just an extraordinary speech. This was sort of the new definition of the fierce urgency of now and I could see him in the oval. Office, it was intimate and it was chilling and he was declaring a national emergency and what he was doing was saying. I need you to save democracy President Obama's speech tonight slate me I'm sure people have different opinions fixes a different kind of thing from him but his warnings that we could potentially be at the end of American democracy. Scared, me and I found upsetting in our watch but just powerful. Powerful stuff. This was the the speech that Obama has given throughout all this I've read or watched that absolutely did feel like the most of a warning and I think it was warning about the potential end of America and that seems dramatic when people say it and people throw around. If we have one former years of trump, the country will end but there is a fundamental sense that if you break every institution that made it possible for there to be a Barack Obama, it will end I, mean, it's almost there almost evolved turned into Chris Matthews. "The plaque is inaccurate. Give it out of there. I know the pressure's now on governor Abbott. Because the Texas attorney general Ken Paxton has ruled that a board. The governor abbot heads called the Texas State preservation board does in fact have the authority to remove what is called the children of the confederacy creed. This is a plaque which has stood in the rotunda of the state capital since nineteen fifty nine. It was put there at the height of the civil rights movement. And among the things that it claims is the the war between the states was not a rebellion. Tell that to the fifty thousand were killed in it. And what really bothers people is it also states, nor was it's underlined cause to sustain slavery. And I think the we've we've. The Texas order of succession that was passed by our legislature in eighteen sixty one says, essentially nothing other than how awesome slavery is an Texas is leaving the union because it doesn't want to give up slavery. Governor Abbott has historically said the legislature put it there. It's up to the legislature to move it trying to deflect the responsibility for dealing with this. But now that a committee that the governor is in fact in charge of has been given the green light to get rid of this plaque. We the pressure is mounting on the governor. Definitely and retiring house speaker Joe Straus who is still the speaker of the house, and we'll be Intel Dennis Baden is formally nominated to that position. Probably in the first week in January has said for a long time he wants that plank removed during his term as speaker. He says that he wants it removed. Not because it mentions the confederacy or the civil war. He doesn't want to go there. But he says quote because it describes these events. In terms that are historically and morally wrong, and I think that kind of goes without saying, and we're moving in the direction of getting rid of some of these relics of the resistance to the civil rights movement. As we've talked before the state board of education has finally agreed to allow teachers that teach that slavery was the underlying cause of the Texas secession and the creation of the confederacy plaques like this where put up around the south back in the late nineteen fifties in early nineteen sixties to try to deflect blame from the confederacy. And from the southern heritage at a time when the civil rights movement was attempting to undo some of the wrongs perpetrated in the past hundred years. So now, the pressure is on governor abbot, it'll be interesting to see how he reacts to this where certain that there will be some sort of reaction from the governor at this week. One member of the Texas legislature. Democrat Eric Johnson of Dallas has already introduced a Bill and filed a resolution calling for the plaque to be removed. So chances are good. It's going to be removed soon. But we're waiting on the governor to take the first step since he chairs this committee. All right. That's wer news record, Jim foresight.
