"It's heidi here with sam gordon and we're gonna get into what happened. Here with the raiders at number seventeen in the nfl draft. Sam alex leatherwood offensive linemen from alabama selected. Seventeen for the. Las vegas raiders. What was your initial reaction. Because i know heidi first and foremost great to be here. I had a great time in cleveland. So far it's been a heck of an experience. Glad you're here With said In terms of your question definitely surprised right definitely surprised Not surprising right tackle. i Continued to voice leading up to the draft. I thought right tackle away to go was an obvious. Need in the offense of line of ministry of this team despite its it's consistent struggles. Last year's the offensive line was a pretty reliable unit and lot of turnover tram. Browns gone just going to be some reshuffling move out gave jackson you move out and you knew there was going to have to be some adjustments made and there was a glaring hole the right tackle and they went with right tackle so i they feel the need but just now player. I thought they'd fill that need with and you look at how the board was shaking out. Thought christian dare saw. I was going to be big especially considering what his grade was. And and and where. The raiders were picking. He wasn't now that said just because alex leatherwood is a surprise and we didn't expect him to be there doesn't mean he won't be a good player but it feels like more often than not the raiders. Under jon gruden. Mike mayock have reached for players that they could have gotten later and are maximizing the value of their first round picks damon are net in twenty twenty was a good example. That and even cleveland farrell. Who's a very good player by the way in the top five and twenty nineteen so a couple so with that in mind. I think alex leatherwood at trend. But the jury's still out on how good he's going to be i think he has a lot of potential beauge player was an all american big-time film comes from a big time program and he's gonna get his opportunity to prove mike. Megan jon gruden ryan look. I want to be optimistic about this. But i think there were other guys that were on the board. That had a lot of potential. "Welcome to Spies of London. This episode is a book review of the illegal by Gordon Carrera from the BBC the hunt for a Russian spy on a post-war London and it's about the Spy Gordon Lonsdale Gordon. Lonsdale was a Canadian man who came to Britain by ship. He told everyone had been born on the 27th of August 1924 in Ontario Canada in reality. He was Conan meladi born in Moscow. Now, I've come across God in Lonsdale many times. He was easily one of the best and most Professional Russian spies operating in Britain at any time. He was known to me because he was involved in a prisoner swap without wanting to give you too many spoilers as he was highly valued by the KGB and he met George Blake in Moscow and George Blake & Garden Lonsdale were betrayed by the song. So some people suggest that if they hadn't been portrayed particular Lonsdale might never have been discovered by the time he was discovered clearly his super deep secret undercover of work which involved him taking on this Canadian identity living in Britain away from his young family was taking its toll and more than that as with so many of the best writers when Lonsdale go back to Moscow. He started to compare it to what he'd seen in the west and realized that the West Was better. I was richer more exciting more interesting more. Make more fun and he had serious alcohol problems, but there were a few details about Lonsdale which intrigued me and I have to say I thought God unless there was a man name

"Gordon deal thank you for the quality we can let us have a look up and be shocked to see thirty two o'clock in the afternoon where the dago how will you ever get everything done he just feels there's not enough time in the day but there is you just have to be ruthless so says Val rights leadership and innovation consultants who is author of a book called thoughtfully ruthless the key to exponential growth she spoke with this weekend's Jenna Prica shankha about being ruthless with your time I would rinse less have negative connotations but if you will full full of ours that's when you could really take control of your life and simply create more time do you apply this to your life professionally or personally about absolutely both there is as many poems and around on your work life as you'll soul life you have to be laid the focus of really intentional about every single activity every single one project and pay attention to exactly what you do or what you might get somebody else today all right I'll give us some examples also so for those who one in smaller or larger companies meetings are one of the greatest time socks in the world and I always say to people but it's very easy to read usual meeting time by seventy five percent because hopefully will meetings are not needed they could have been communicated via an email Ole wasn't really anything much to communicate will discuss all of those meetings are needed you any harm to the people in the room and that you create a seventy five percent with the option in your meeting investment and meetings have become the bomb blew roofs of attacking people's calendars in every country in every business and they kind of just take over when they really don't need to you've got a really be ruthless about what you cut back and how do you get your meetings back being productive and but being focused I think they had many many workers would agree with you but perhaps not as many managers how do you get them to turn that around price you know I I speak a lot of conferences and events and when I asked that question the by reducing your meeting by seventy five percent everybody knows that I think people get stuck into how they and they get to really question is this the right use of time and you know I say to managers you know what would you do if you know your border your seo give you an extra twenty percent of resources may immediately come up with all these incredible things mean vestments and ideas that happens when you condition it that way and then say some will this is how you get more time back from your jeans I have signed with managers at all levels really to embrace this idea of a full three reflects anything but gives people back time we're speaking with them all right leadership consultant and author of valve how do you reduce the distractions in your everyday life to save some time the first thing you have to do is really pay attention to the technology that you have and you know if I find something and that we will be very easy for my walks to be posing for my friend to give be giving me notifications for my computer on my desk to be giving me call notifications what you have to do is just stop and say where only imports because it's like the equivalent of what we used to see in our office and only get a knock on the door or a manual and electro in a mailbox we allow digital knocks on the door all of our attention all day long all weekend long and what we have to do is stop those knocks on the door so you have to turn off the notifications you have to know the staff to your inbox all day every day you know if you only check your email three or four times a day and the rest of the time you switch off line so you can actually create work can get work done rather than responding to work that's another way that you can avoid the distractions and turning off we'll notifications deleting the app on your phone that might be interesting but not helpful particularly if you're on a deadline and pay attention to the things that distract you and where you go when you get distracted eliminate those things because you have formal controlling choice than you might realize with these distractions tell you suggest that sometimes we need to kind of distance ourselves from our friends how can we do that without hurting someone's feelings it's a controversial but essential reflection everybody needs to make and you know particularly you know when you think of our findings are precious you have to ask yourself when you're old at spending the weekend or you're spending an evening with someone do they energize you and make you happy or does not insurrection fill you with dread what you have to be added to is is just make choices and and say okay I'm going to choose to spend more time the disbursement you know maybe I'm I'm gonna see this person left so maybe I'm not going to see them again it's this weekend's Jennifer Gish Ranko with leadership consultant Val right author of thoughtfully ruthless the key to exponential growth twenty one minutes after the hour on this weekend coming up next tech resolutions for the new year and now another addition of obvious news from geico experts now say that wearing more clothes in the winter will in fact help you be warmer we asked cold victim track Patterson about this and here's what he "With Gordon the with forty two days before the first votes are counted in Iowa for candidates or in the mix or leading in at least one of the four early voting states combined with the lack of a dominant front runner nationally Democrats can start asking the question that's maybe not so far fetched could the first four contests leave us with four different winners Joey garrison national correspondent at USA today says it would be perhaps the most wide open democratic primary in a generation heading into super Tuesday on March three Joey explained the number one area where this could be a possibility with would be what where are we to judge the mayor of up on top in Indiana with the Iowa and then it moved to New Hampshire and you have one of the native sons and daughters there and with the with with Warren or Bernie Sanders who Vermont Massachusetts of course next door you have a history of bucking what I or the it did you move to Nevada you'd have to have the opposite candidate of Sanders war ward win in the bottom then at least the top Carolina were biting strong support among African American voters has been polling number one from the beginning and it's very much a part rather Tucker light if you have as the book in so to speak of the stress for you to catch a bite and now what with Warren and and now they're just putting in those little about what what can happen between now but but it is something that when you look at the polling that certainly is a possibility yeah has this happened before hello what do they get to give back every four years for these elections last time it happened nineteen ninety two were you at Tom Harkin when the night was that you had called fungus we Massachusetts and then you had up in Maine governor Jerry Brown the winning into Bob Kerry the former Nebraska senator winning him but well I think with South Dakota the might of the North Dakota believe South Dakota Bill Clinton ultimately won the nomination in nineteen ninety two hi he didn't stop by when in any of those four states but starting to win and once the primary moved southward sort have happened before with this be the first time really in a generation of politics well if mayor blew the judge does not win Iowa is he in trouble in yeah I think he really needs to come when I would start really expanded his campaign and the building momentum and you know you right now is depending on which poll if you're looking at I think he's leading and I want to the last three to that you know you clearly found since the momentum there right now in in in he said he needs to keep that up here in the final couple months but of course I was we do have a history of changing at all of a last minute famously John Kerry you know calling yeah somewhere in the first place so this point having an at Iowa caucuses he of course ended up winning in ended up securing another nomination pretty quickly in the primary process so just because we look at the polls right now and we can see it for the area where you could have four different winners in the first four states that doesn't mean that's gonna hand out you know in in that exact way what could happen in the month of the primary this is a lot of you know this is where things are really decided now heading into the first stretch of voting with five one Hampshire for speak with Julie garrison national correspondent at USA today he's written a piece entitled with polling all over the map could for different Democrats split the first four states how do you factor in Mike Bloomberg in his money in all of this if at all yeah so I mean it made the whole premise of looking into the store the birthplace of that is a very much a wide open race right now we don't really have one or two candidates who were looking at it as as as the real far others he arguably a for right now and so what a guy like Bloomberg in getting in the race so late obviously have all those all that money that he's already been pouring into a lot of the state he says well we're not going to even look at these for former gonna concentrate on super Tuesday when eleven states including California go to the polls so he's really banking on they're still being fluidity coming out of South Carolina or at least admit he and he doesn't need to have the four states for it I mean it could be maybe three candidates win but he's really betting on that and there and and the fact that there won't be just one winner out of the first four and they'll still be an open right now if there are four different winners in the first war voting states in the primary how long could potentially take them to find a true front runner well critical I mean it might get move on past super Tuesday and we've been to in a later in the calendar there's a date where Pennsylvania and Connecticut Dolabella somebody's northeastern states or go to the polls so it might get to that point but there I will say although these four candidates are well financed at the moment it's hard to maintain that and also in the democratic primary they have a threshold only giving delegate candidates to get fifteen percent and fate so some point a lot of these people are gonna be whittled away if they're not performing so yeah I I think it's I wouldn't expect all four to go to to the to the convention by any means and it's gonna be certainly Whittle down I would think you know no more than two at that point but I do think it could still be open out of super Tuesday member so we're going to do at that point that for Tuesday the March we were certainly gonna know he's got the the most delegates to that point and who might have the most momentum but there could still be of splintering among the party show Joey garrison national correspondent at USA today twenty minutes now after the hour on this morning Jennifer shankha is here with three big things you need to know number one Gordon newly released government email has revealed that.

"Want to look at this from the standpoint of Republicans in how they responded to this listening? I thought today to the Republican lawyer Steven caster astor who I think was more assertive. Maybe more aggressive today when he got forty five minutes of questioning then we've heard and seen from him in the past one point he seemed to be pressing with Sunlen that sunland one had created one implication behind closed doors about what the president said when it came to Rudy Giuliani in something else today in this public testimony in in specifically what Castro was hitting it was he said that when sunland had testified behind closed doors he made it sound like trump had dismissively said to talk to Rudy Giuliani. Well when the President President says talk to my personal attorney and then Mr Giuliani as his personal attorney make certain requests demands. We assume it's coming from the president. I don't I'm not testifying that I heard the president. Tell Mr Giuliani to tell us. So if that's your question your deposition you said the question was at the May twenty third meeting when the president said Go. Talk to go talk to rudy. You responded he didn't even say go talk. He said talk to you subsequently said he was sort of like. I don't want to talk about this. It seemed that there was sort of an interpretive element the Republicans were trying to get at. And I think that's part of what the public hearings can do. is they bring to life and animate aspects of the narrative live here. And you can't always control exactly how that's going to go. And I think Gordon Son was in some ways and unpredictable witness. I think that he today and is live. Live if I can call it. That live action on television. Testimony made it sound in some ways like the president was giving himself a little buffer by saying talk to my personal personal lawyer and if the message is delivered by the personal lawyer then the president's got some deniability there. Will you were sort of hinting at from the closed door deposition was a more off handed. Hey I'm not that involved talked to rudy. There's a huge different implication of those two things from the off handed to directed. And it's really hard to get a sense of of where Gordon Salmon falls in this so much so that Republicans at one point said are you a friend of the president. Donald Trump. Your friend no. We're not friends friends. Yes okay well you know after. You testified German shift ran out and gave a press conference and said he gets to impeach the president. I'd states because of your testimony Tony and if you pull up CNN today right now. They're banner says Sunlen ties. Trump to withholding aid warned him. If you will if I can use that word that the way it was playing outside the hearing room was that Gordon Sunlen was sort of the impeachment best witnessed so far and they were trying to say to him. Do you realize that's what you said here. Is that your testimony today. Mr Master silent that you have evidence that Donald Trump tied the investigation. Because I don't think you're saying ain't that I've said repeatedly congressman I was presuming. I also said that president trump so no one suggesting he might have made up. Were more elaborate a bit on his testimony and then they went through a more methodical. What exactly did the president say? What exactly did Rudy Giuliani say? And that's where Republicans tried to you wrestle. That back after the Democrats had several good hours if the suggestion here that Republicans perhaps are trying to advance that this was something. Giuliani was pushing much more than Trump himself that would put Giuliani and potentially awkward position. What has he been saying? I know he's been active on twitter day. How has been responding to this? Well one of the things he has taken bridge with is the Republican lawyer that you just referenced who is working on behalf of the committee suggesting that Giuliani has business interests. In Ukrainy says has he has not and that. He was really critical of the Republican lawyer. For the way he has conducted the questioning. And so- Giuliani might be out on a bit of a of a branch inch on his own He's obviously representing the president and can't talk about that but was certainly put in a potentially you could almost sense the being out on a plank kind of motif today. Where wow? They're really sort of describing Giuliani as being the mastermind of this. He is pushing back but the president of course is ultimately here at the center of all this and we heard from him where he came out on the South Lawn. He was heading to a scheduled trip to Austin Texas with with handwritten notes. Big Sharpie type ink Saying that he never wanted anything from Ukraine. He only wanted a Alinsky to do the right thing and a forceful forceful defense from the president almost in tweet style in in live action on the Republican side of the committee. Did you see solidarity. Did you sense any cracks cracks and he potential cracks. What was your into that? Since no cracks in terms of any republicans changing their view about the president's ultimate culpability here didn't get that sense in fact if anything. There was a bit of a frantic nece in trying to hold back Gordon Sunlen and remind him of some of his statements and and to suggest to him that presumptions that he was testifying about might not be helpful in this context whereas Democrats were happy to exploit those presumptions because they Sense that there was this awareness over time that built within Sunlen of what the larger picture was. And in Fact Adam Schiff came back and said you wouldn't expect the president to say I'm going to ask you to help me commit bribery. My colleague soon to be under the impression that unless the president's spoke the words Ambassador Sunland I am bribing Ukrainian president that there's no evidence of bribery if he didn't say ambassador Sunland. I'm telling you I'm not going to give the aid unless they do this. That there's no evidence of a quid pro quo on military aid. Almost as if of course course it would not be black and white in plain sight that in fact the sense of the ambassador his experience day to day and overtime was in fact. Valuable able that where he sort of landed today and saying that everyone was in the loop everybody knew was ultimately from Democrats point of view a believable credible account and Republicans. Were saying no. No no you've got to be precise here and the president never told you ambassador Sunlen. Did he no one on this planet told you that president trump was tying aid to investigations. Yes or no yes so you really have no testimony today ties. President trump to a scheme seem to withhold aid from Ukraine in exchange for these investigations. Other than my own presumption which is nothing ambassador. Simone says now we never did. He never conditioned the aid or anything related to the aid to the announcement from Ukrainians president to have an investigation. That still has not happened. Democrats think they have a breakthrough here. They think there's a breakthrough moment. What will they do next? Well I think building on Gordon Sunlen allows them to then say a this went deeper and farther into the administration than might have otherwise been known. And we'll also hear from a witness who testified behind closed doors and who we'll be public and that is a person who was having lunch with Gordon Sunlen David Holmes who overheard a phone call between the president and ambassador. Sunland win the day after the do me a favor. Phone call between President Trump and presidents Alinsky so hearing David Holmes testimony may be very impactful as has people try to get a sense of was Sunlen in the loop correctly on this is his account right or is David Holmes who was an observer. Is he right so it is a piece. Despite piece of building block game for Democrats trying to assemble as many of these witnesses to fill out a picture and for Republicans. It's all about out a wall around the president that if he didn't give the direction than that's enough to say there's no impeachable offense Guilio donal. "Maybe he just wants to do with David. Johnson wanted last year. Get some more guaranteed money. David Johnson was a holdout threat in quotes before came to an agreement last season he was in a similar situation as Melvin Gordon. They came came to terms Jason. You certainly don't believe that the chargers are going to open their money bags at all. I'm just I hate dealing with these situations so let me ask you this Jason. 'cause I mean we all have the stance that we aren't drafting Kareem Hunt because we know that he has an game suspension. He won't be back until week ten because the bye week Melvin Gordon takes us the distance <hes> he misses eight games are you. Do you have the same stance I said No. We're not drafting Melvin I would I would still drop it on the board because the giant difference is when Kareem Hunt comes back is how involved is he. Is he the guy it's nick trump. You're having a you know a guy. That's you're going to get in week ten. Who might be a backup running back that you held all year win? Melvin Gordon comes back. He is the Melvin Gordon Star and let's be honest if he misses about four or five games. Maybe that's good for him because he usually misses about four or five games so <hes> then I'll be like oh now he can stay healthy the rest of the do you have a round. This is all new information. So do you have a round where you're where in your head you think yeah. I'll take the risk that I'm GONNA be stashing a running back for eight weeks if well well I mean right now. It's you have to only go on what information we have now so if I was drafting today and I don't know that he's missing eight weeks. I don't think he will miss that much. Maybe four weeks in they work something out. <hes> I would probably be looking Melvin Gordon like man fourth-round but he'll never get to me right yeah right right now for me. Fourth-round is I would. I would just do it because the guy's going in the fourth round assuming that I missed Kerryon Johnson for speaking strictly running backs. They're all shaky. Four hundred backs always are so fourth round I wou I think I would smash Sir on the draft lawyer Melvin Gordon Derrick Henry. You're taking gort yeah. I think I would take Gordon ads this what I would do right now the most optimistic but the news this is not been great posturing on both sides will continue to track it. We're not even into August yet and <hes> couple things to get out there before we get into the rest of the news for clan giveaway DOT COM couple days left signed Pat Mahomes Jersey. Were Given one away. Hey from PRISTINE AUCTION DOT COM..

"West Walnut first round pick as as we told you Internet fifth year option rookie looking for big money or else he may hold out worth mentioning Gordon skit most of the all season but did attend mandatory minicamps so here's Gorens Ages Pledge Smith. I worked thing may stand prepared fantasists and we'll take it day week by week and see how things go but at this time <hes> if we can't get anything done you certainly won't be training camp and he's prepared to sit as long as you have to so we'll see how it plays out how maybe ended up in in San Diego state where he is right there in Los Angeles. There's nothing that suggests that he does not want to be there. He just wants to be compensated. He loved to stay in San Diego assuming we get something done but if the if we can't he's prepared to move oh gorgeous Doug but only completed one full season as a charger and in four years seems just one single season go over a thousand rushing yards gordon averaged fewer than four yards per carry in his first three years but made a big the jumping year four bumping that up to five point one yards per carry. That's eight ranks eighth among all active backs. He's been a touchdown machine to Gordon has at least twelve touchdowns three eight years thirty eight is that total and over that span zero other players. I've been able to do that so J._d.. How do you think playing out the chargers have every reason to believe? Melvin Gordon is serious when he says that he sold out and when you look at the contract structure we're going to keep making comparisons to Levian bell because he just held out last last year. It's totally different. Levian bell was playing for fourteen million dollars. He was leaving a lot more money on the table to try to make what is probably going to be similar money correct in this situation. It's a player was picked outside the top fifteen the top ten so he's talking about a fifth year option of like five plus Million Dollars Melvin Gordon given on what's on the other end of this about how much he's projected to make in free agency would be perfectly fine to go ahead in potentially forfeit three hundred and thirty thousand dollars per game. It actually does make sense. I wouldn't step on that feel. If I'm Maryland Melvin Gordon be willing to leave you on bell this thing that would you sit out the whole year. That didn't exactly work. You got to get the season yeah we get the season but I will be showing week ten. You gotta play six you gotta be. We six regular season Games on your act ten. I'm showing I'm showing up and my hamstring. My bill might be yeah. I'll show up there because it it doesn't make any sense listen. We've how many how many times have we talked about how running back position devalue the Value Milton going twenty six years old okay and you touched upon already the fifth year option. Okay bump it out another year then possibly franchise you so again by the time you get to the end of it Hicabi twenty eight who's paying a running back at twenty a long term extension for running back. Who's twenty eight years old Melvin Gordon is probably looking at a situation like this? You've got a strike while the iron is now. We've seen todd Gurley pay levy on builds skin pay Philip verbs what thirty seven years old he's not getting any younger and and guess what the Los Angeles chargers charges are moving into a stadium twenty so they need all hands on deck to try to sell out their stadium and guess who's a major piece to the Los Angeles chargers Melvin Gordon. The bottom line is a CBA is absolutely broken with regard yard of the running back position. It's thankless the most beat up charges might as well trae absolutely I mean they're not going to they'd rather just get them fresh at week. Eleven I foster only here and my friends at marathon or really helping you save because right now you can get five tents off every gallon every day with naked count rewards from marathon plus..

"We are back. I am shift carrier heat is set lull. And that is right set. I could not have said it any better than I did several months ago. You heard it in the opening Josh Gordon falls hundred Neath pa- category of drugs now. Some of you might have thought I was being a little harsh. But set I think nailed that one. I think nailed it. You're you're spot on. So I I hate to admit when you're right. But you couldn't be any more. Right. When it comes. Josh, gordon. I mean, it wasn't only this year to right because every time I've had to talk about Josh Koran. It really aggravates me that we still have talked about Josh, Gordon. And what was fascinating was. I don't think it was in the clip to open up the episode, but he was a fourth round pick. Josh Gordon Cleveland Browns was a fourth round pick. Josh, Gordon as far as I'm concerned, if anyone wants to say, well, you know, he made it the whole season Diddy. That's my question, you know, how long some of these like take time to come out. And maybe a ruling or something like that for for whatever reason Cleveland benched him after week one. He's bench week to bench week three traded. I think he might have violated it all the way back right in week one. Seth. Yeah. I wouldn't. I wouldn't be surprised. You never know. Josh, gordon. I had him on one league. I think for the most part we were off obviously, we were off the Josh Gordon bandwagon. Unfortunately, I drafted him in one league. And was was waiting for him to come around slowly..

"Eight seven three seven seven six. Mike live, Stephen ESPN radio. What's up? I appreciate your thoughtful analysis and assessment, Josh Gordon situation. I think one of the things that I think it's overlooked a little bit in addiction, and it is a certain amount of narcissism kind of meet all about me type attitude, and I do hope he gets he gets help. I'm just not sure how many more chances of the NFL needs to give him and it goes to the issue of teammates and being able to rely on him, and and those issues, and I certainly my heart goes out to him. I hope he gets better. I just don't know how many other shots. He has added. I think the issue of narcissism something probably needs to be peeled back when it comes to these issues. "Gordon Deal. Thanks for spending time with us. Welcome into Friday. Some coastal residents of North Carolina who evacuated ahead of hurricane Florence in the flooding starting to make their way home. One of them is Levi McCorvey who's planning today to leave his in-laws home in Hilton Head South Carolina, where he's been for more than a week to his place in Leland North Carolina on the Cape fear river Levi, what's your current status? Well, currently, I'm I'm still evacuated. We're still in Hilton Head by an walls, and you know, we've been. Daily thing to try to stay up to speed today as we can't go is there are people that stayed what they're going through. News asking their opinion. You know, if it's worth coming back or not. So currently we're still evacuated are planned or actually to to leave the head back based on things we've been hearing from people that are there and people are starting to get back and say, you know, they would actually make it back. So that's our plan is now, what's what kind of reports. Have you been getting from folks in and around Leland? Not a lot of good, you know, people there, or, you know, people struggling with dealing with trees falling on their home. Of course, flooding up had a really good friend that. House flooded. You know, this is not good people are really struggling to find basic resources. You know, a lot of the grocery stores in the area's only open 'til certain times of the day due to the curfew. They're only let so many people in at a time to shop for things people are posting on social media. Hey, where can I where can I get milk? Where can I get hot meal?.
