DECLARE-ing Another Victory for Dapagliflozin

"Well hello and welcome to the i former x podcast where we explore the evidence that informs aleatory care pharmacy practice. This is stuart hanes the host of the i former x podcast in about a year ago we reviewed and discussed the data h f study which evaluated the benefits of the sodium glucose transporter two or s. l. t. two inhibitor. Adaptable flows in in patients with reduced ejection fraction. Heart failure even in patients without diabetes. And if you are not familiar with a data h f study. I strongly encourage you to read the original study. And the i former x commentary of course. The data regarding the use of the sglt two inhibitors to prevent cardiovascular events and to treat heart failure or quite compelling but can they also slow the progression of renal complications in patients with chronic kidney disease. Well i was excited to see the much anticipated data. Ck d. study published in the new england journal of medicine a few weeks ago. And i knew just the right people. I wanted to review this study for i former expert. Dr jennifer clements dr stephanie. Nitro jennifer and stephanie are no strangers to i former x. They are members of the i former x oriel board and have been frequent contributors over the years. That clements is clinical pharmacy. Specialist in diabetes transitions at spartanburg regional health. Care system in spartanburg south carolina indoctrinate grow is associate professor of pharmacy practice at the university of connecticut. Stephanie jennifer it's great to welcome you back on the i former x podcast. Thanks for the invitation stewart. Thank you for having us back so before we get started per usual. I'd like to get your thoughts on a patient case. A i think that is not unlike. What many of our listeners encounter in their practices and want to imagine. You're seeing k t a sixty one year old african american female in the primary care clinic today. The patient has a longstanding history of hypertension type two diabetes dyslipidemia and. She's morbidly obese. She also has osteoarthritis internees. She recently was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in her primary care physician referred her to you to make certain quote. We are doing everything we can to protect your kidneys. According to her medical record katie has been prescribed lysenko pearl twenty milligrams twice daily resume astatine twenty milligrams daily metformin thousand twice daily and insulin Twenty it's bedtime and in addition over the counter. She takes aspirin eighty-one milligrams and naproxen sodium for arthritis pain. She currently weighs two hundred sixty four pounds of bmi forty point. Nine blood pressure today when thirty. Eight over seventy six and her most recent labs yesterday include a fasting glucose of eighty seven and a one c of six point seven percent. Sam crat nin of one point seven milligrams per deciliter and an estimated. Gfr of thirty seven seven potassium of four point seven. Ldl cholesterol fifty six hdl cholesterol. Forty eight triglycerides of one. Oh seven in addition. The patient had a timed urine protein tests performed and the album into creating ratio was three hundred fifty. So stephanie. Before we talk about the study that you reviewed in your i former x commentary. I'm wondering what's going through your mind in this case What are some of the key questions you ask this patient during the encounter and what additional apps if any might you want to obtain and is there any additional treatment options. Who'd be considering at this point to stewart. I would agree that. Kt really does mirror. Many of the patients that are encountered in clinical practice. And i think this case excites me because there are many opportunities for the pharmacists to intervene here and if we're going to utilize the ppc process. I would. I want to collect additional information from kt. for example. Does she smoke. How often is she using her naproxen. And at what dose. I'd also want to collect possible. Her a. one c. Blood pressure and serum craton and trends and we know how important it is to not evaluate labs in isolation so seeing her patterns would provide additional insight or care planning. It's really important to know. Kt's renal function is stable or if it's consistently fluctuating as this information would help our assessment of how we can manage. Her current metformin does since her egfr is approaching the cutoff for continue at minimum. She needed both reduction. And also story the for thinking about the potential use of sglt two inhibitors for katie ensuring that arena function is stable. What help us feel more comfortable recommending. Its use since we know that there have been reports of a two kidney injury and volume depletion upon initiation of these drugs. I don't want wanna collect a bit more information about her. Lifestyle habits including a general understanding of her dietary choices notably her sodium and protein intake and see if she is engaging in any physical activity given her need when the patient and osteoarthritis. I'd also wanna know her insurance provider and learn if she's burdened by any of the cost of her current medications in case we want to add anything in the future cd management perspective. I'm really happy to see that. She's on than a pro because she has albumin. Urea but further management is needed to help delay rano progression and when we think of good. Ck d. management. We need to consider it. I optimizing her glycemic control which looks really good for. Kt at this point and also painting and maintaining a blood pressure will have less than one thirty over eighty if we can do that safely

Tyson Fury looks bulky as he trains for 3rd fight with Wilder

"Very big news. Surfacing sugarhill is the trainer of tyson fury and it seems like he posted a picture of not only tyson fury. But anthony durell guy that you know wasn't questioned during one of the tyson. Fury fights as to being part of that tyson fury team while he's now in a picture. Tyson fury a very bulky. Tyson fury very muscular tyson fury tyson fury came into the rematch with deontay wilder. At two hundred seventy four pounds and he did look a bit solve but that extra weight caused all the problems that we see in that fine. Now he's bulking up that way. Is he gonna move better. Is it going to slow him down. And he's going to get robotic as he likes to question and sees. Aj bad news for a while because he's getting stronger. What we're gonna be talking about the fact that it looks like fury's in can't four that fight. We know johnny nelson adam smith and a few others have been letting the cat out the bag that they feel that. This fight is going to happen. That fury has let it out he will be signing those contracts so looking like wow. The fury threes imminent. Fury's already in training camp in miami. And i'm just saying he looks bulky is hell.

Brain Tracking: The Future of Brain Health with Paul Sorbo, Director of Sales at Wavi Medical

"Welcome back to the outcomes racket. Today i have the privilege of hosting paul sorbo. He is the director of sales at wabi medical. Where they're helping the world to think better they're doing brain performance assessments with a very unique approach and in this interview. I have an extraordinary conversation with him. Learning more about how they're making a difference in brain health. And so with that intro. I am so privileged to have you here on the podcast paul. Thanks for joining me. Thank you chris. It's great to be here. Yeah so you know. We previously had another member of your team. Aaron from wabe. If you guys haven't had a chance to listen to that podcast go to the website. Go to wabe mad. And you'll see our rate chat with erin but today we've got paul on the podcast and he's gonna die of a bit deeper into the topic of brain health and what we're doing to do more and to do better within that field so before we do that though paul you know why. Don't you go ahead and tell us what exactly inspires your work in healthcare watts. Broad question to me I think for me it was always. I had a fascination with the human body whether it was from the performance aspect. i. I'm an ex bodybuilder. And so i always had this huge fascination trying to manipulate the human body to be the best at it could all the way through my undergrad. And we'll getting in about school. I had a huge fascination at the genome and and a genetic and solving things like duchenne muscular dystrophy with genomic other being crisper cast nine gene regulation. And you know all of a sudden. I started thinking about this and you know genetics. You're just familiar with upi genetics and and protonix. And when you really get into that you know you start looking at medicine as a whole and realizing that we are not controlling what we can. And that i want to continue to strive to make people the best version of themselves that they can be and continue to drive the education behind that specifically in now with lobby kind of the brain sector. Yeah that's pretty cool man so you did like weight training professionally or what. What's the story there. Never professionally I had a whole bunch of friends that were professional bodybuilders. Still to this day. You know on a fascination with muscle for lack of a better term probably unhealthy fascination for being I like to call bodybuilders the first bile hackers you know when when tides just now coming out and getting into mainstream medical community us bodybuilders. Been using uptight for twenty years and not in a nearly regulated fashion. Obviously very underground bro science for lack of a better term. But yeah i mean i. I'm five foot nine. I was all the way up to about two hundred fifty four pounds. It less than ten percent body fat which was not healthy by the way could punish shoes And realize that you know. I think that's a good topic of conversation about health. Though you know people. I think genuinely believe that external appearance can actually reflect internal health and that is so far from true. 'cause x i looked extremely healthy right. I ate what i thought right things. I had low body fat. I had astronomical amount of muscle mass for my frame but internally when i started looking at my labs my panels my lipid panels cluster all levels my ratios. My inner cellular calcium levels all of a sudden. I'm like close. I am the furthest thing from health. Yeah and you know. It's a good call and we've got a measure to understand where we're at and that's a lot of what you guys are doing with wabi around the brain so talked a little bit about the business and some insights about how you guys are helping. Health care leaders do their job around brain assessment. Yeah i think the key there to what he's done let me start by saying why doesn't do anything do what we do. Is we make information significantly more accessible so measuring the brain has been really underdone. Because it's never been a accessible be. It's never been affordable. Those are the two things that david oakley data joffe really set out to change e. g. and evoked potentials or. Erp have been around for sixty seventy years. The problem with both of those erp specifically was really only used in brain death situations to measure. You know long hospital procedure and prostate expensive and b. e. g. is really people are familiar with the g. from epilepsy studies. And these really terrible torture base you know. Eeg say league caps. You're just awful and they're expensive and they're not quick right so when you talk about measuring the brain you know. Are you going to send a client or patient to go. Get a yearly. Mri no are you gonna go send a client to get a yearly specs or anything else out there eeg. No you're not gonna do it because it's going to cost them. I don't know that many people that have five to ten thousand dollars our way every year. Nobody i mean right very hit. I know people that do it yearly. And i'm like that's excessive right but when you really look at that the problem is that by not doing that on a regular basis as we don't have a whole bunch of data on the parade you know it's not like we're able to just go in with a stethoscope and listen to the way than our heart is a. We haven't been able to do that with the brain and so really. The only clinton which measurement is happening is when. There's already a problem whether there's already issues of cognitive decline whether there's already ti stroke whether there's already behavioral sheeps and so we don't really know these baseline normative were supposed to be or house amongst progressing their cognitive science progressing as they age. And that's really. The foundation of lavi is providing a simple fast and affordable assessment that we establish a baseline and then compare subsequent. Scans to see how someone is progressing

A Conversation About Cloud Gaming

"So continuing some discussion about playing computer games. I thought it would be good to revisit a discussion. We had some time ago. Which is cloud gaming. And i suppose before we get into a discussion about cloud gaming. We should probably sort of just define what we're referring to here for the benefit of people who haven't experienced they saw try to or heard about of which i am one okay so this is going to be an interesting conversation of it later. So alan how would you summarize what cloud gaming is. It's tricky because you could argue. It's the hits. The modern way to stream a game from you know a fast computer this remote and that might be a modern thing but actually it's been around a long time there. Let's people play web gangs and those games and not installed on your computer eager to a url and you play a base game so there's a lot of about but the technology is very different these days and so you're streaming these days a video feed of what's going on on the remote computer whereas in the past you might be getting java script. Html images or it might be flash or something like that. I think all of these are cloud gaming because you're playing the game. I game resides on somebody else's computer. Basically i think for for this topic. I think we're talking about the modern incarnation right. So these are the ones where you launch game. Somewhere on the internet. Angie effectively interact with a livestreamed version of that game. So there there are two models of this occurred to me in my head. Where when you describe that. So the first off is basically your you're renting vm. With a with a powerful graphics card and then you can play you you you basically log that remotely and you play your games on it and the other one is something like spotify for games where you're subscribed to a library of games and you're using an application to launch and play those games which one of those is the more common scenario here. I think they're all functional. I don't think you're talking about two different. The one you're talking about the technical aspects of how you the game and the other one you're talking about the the the business model and those are two entirely separate things okay. It really doesn't matter what the business model is. That's how the technical side is in the tentacles. implement the the businessman loving the different things. one may be subscription while maybe paper play one. Maybe you get to your in games another one. Maybe you renting games or something like that. I think very different. And i think there's there's a couple of options and you'll discover the limitations and the benefits from them. If we go through and i think well then let's discuss the options so it was the one that you've been playing a lot or you've had longest martinis you had invidia grid be mentioned in awhile back. That was what it was cooled when we first started using it. We access that through. Initially through our nvidia shield and we enrolled into the program for that. And that's now become g force now so we've had that for. I think maybe three years maybe a bit longer than that even and it's pretty impressive stuff. I've i have played some games on that. As part of the beater. I had access to a load of games. I didn't have to buy which was also kind of feeling so. Is that a subscription service. You pay it is yet where it doesn't have to be so it does have a free tier but when you request to play a game you'll put in q. As to win. A vm is going to be allocated to you. But if you're a subscription member than you will waste will have a machine allocated to you right but that's artificial scarcity to get you to upgrade to a plane adver feed in in spotify is annoying enough that you'd wanna pay right right and it's four pounds ninety nine a month And so you're basically holding a tablet computer in your hands and the game is not running on. That thing became running out there. Somewhere on a machine Doesn't really matter what the technical details of that machine is remote machine and the game is running on that and you'll seeing a video feed basically of what's going on on that competes in your inputs are being sent to that computer. Yes exactly say

Chinese Chang'e-5 Is Collecting Rocks From The Moon With Rocks

"Right now. Chinese robotic craft was collecting samples on the moon touchdown in an area where powell and even the sputnik missions have never ventured china. Space administration says for two days will drill. It will collect samples the goal to bring back about four pounds of dust of rock. And debris later this month and those samples amazingly will be the first road back to the earth and forty four years. It's been a while since we've done that. Lunar exploration wow. We haven't collected any moon rocks in forty four years. I'll bet that they've changed a lot since back. Then you know they've probably graduated moon. College met another moon rock and had some little moon of their own then. They started moon roof drinking and developed a problem gambling and then the one moon rock tells the other to get his goddamn act together and he's all like oh my god damn business anyway. It will be nice to catch up with those moon rocks and you got to admit this is pretty slick china to do this now. Just when everyone discovered that they lied about their numbers and the extent of the outbreak in wuhan. Excuse me china did you lie and try and hide cove when it started. Oh i would love to answer your questions but we have to go get on the move.

NASA spacecraft sent asteroid rubble flying in sample grab

"A certain. About Nasr's latest mission. Remember the old barnstorming air shows you might see someone hanging on a rope ladder dangling from a biplane. Then he swoops down past the audience and grabs a handkerchief. On Tuesday night NASA essentially performed the Hanky grab on the far side of our solar system two hundred million miles away. For the first time, NASA sent a spacecraft to snatch soil samples from an asteroid moving at sixty three thousand miles per hour. Asteroids are geological time capsules floating in space. Or as Nastase tone acerbic can put it. The rebel scoop from Benue could be a kind of cosmic Rosetta stone. The tells the history of our earth and solar system during the last billions of years. At the very least this mission is a triumph of imagination and technological prowess and Patients. The Oh Cyrus. REX, spacecraft left Earth four years ago in orbit, the asteroid Ben who for two years collecting photos and data yesterday the craft touchdown for a few seconds and snatched up as much as four point, four pounds, primordial rocks, and dust in about a week. NASA should know the spacecraft collected enough rubble or if it needs to make another attempt, then the spacecraft will back to Earth with its Rosetta rocks. That journey will take about two more years. But. Some things like a deeper understanding of the origins. Our solar system. Are Worth waiting for.

How to Find Inspiration in Doubt

"Hello and welcome to another episode of the duct tape marketing podcast. This is John Jansen, my guest today is Carol. She is the founder and CEO of hint water a flavored water brand she founded in two thousand and five. He's also the author of a new book called. Daunted overcoming doubts and doubters. So thanks for joining me. Thanks for having me. So in your bio I, read that you were one of the I don't know about original. You've spent some time at AOL. My father-in-law still hasn't AOL account and he thinks he's he thinks it's the Internet that AOL's. That's I I met. So my real question though is, do you still have any of those CD's? You. Know what I do have a couple of the CD is that I kept and I have a few. AOL Jackets Memorabilia that I stuck in a plastic bin. For. can't can't throw that away I. Mean it was a great time. I mean it it's a you know it's sort of an iconic brand that really Steve Case. Bill Right. There were a lot of people there and I played a part in building out the e commerce and You know there were a lot of people that basically felt like. Was the only place to shop. I mean, we were kind of a very enclosed safe place where you could go and You know I really fortunate opportunity to help build out I always viewed it as like a virtual mall and so I would I would like actually. Study Mall's people would ask like, how do you not like bring in Lake J. crew and into. Building out the small and I'm like I go down to the Stanford Mall and actually figure out what other stores are sitting there. Do you know Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom's and some of the others and and that's essentially what we were doing and A community for people. It's funny too because and and we'll get look into the book but I think it's fascinating because it was really it was really a closed place originally got AOL and it wasn't the same as getting to a website that you could. Then just you know punt go somewhere else for a long time it was a very much a contained. As. You said, yeah, and it was also a place for brands to really reinvent themselves I. Mean I remember there was this one catalogue company that we were dealing with called celebration fantastic and pretty small catalogue and and They weren't doing great on the service I mean they were up against like some big guys they weren't getting the promotion. So I remember Valentine's Day rolled around round one day and You know they had this product that was like a chocolate sauce and and they were like we have this idea that we want to do one of your pop ups, those pop-ups screens come. and. They and they called it a better than sex chocolate entrepreneur and and you know people went crazy over it and and so I think it was like it was the first place where you know you could really reinvent yourself in this new channel by showcasing certain products that you have and I mean their sales just off of that product were millions of dollars and just it was absolutely insane but it was really the first place where I saw that you could build brands you know in a non traditional way which you know frankly I go back to our business, my my main business hint. My my day job, you know we fifty five percent of our business is direct to consumer and a world where Soda Is. You know that's just not the way that. Are Sold I mean if anything if they are sold online, it's through an Amazon but it's not through their own site and so I think it's it just little examples like that on my journey make me believe and make me think like how can we just do things? How can we try and how can we do things a little bit different and ultimately better. So today hint comes in twenty players if people aren't familiar with it sparkling and caffeinated. It's a non alcoholic beverage, one of the maybe the largest independent non alcoholic beverage in the world hundred. This is estimated I haven't looked at your books, a hundred and forty million dollars or so in yearly sales, two hundred employees and no famous investors involved in the company, right? That's ten today. Did you start hint to solve a problem or disrupted industry. a little bit of both. Actually you know it's I think back on the journey and you know I call myself an accidental entrepreneur because I wasn't a typical. I'M GONNA go and work for myself or I'm going to be an entrepreneur one day My Dad had actually kind of been frustrated entrepreneur and side a large company He had developed a brand that you may know called healthy choice and inside of Armor Food Company, and then ultimately they were acquired by Conagra but I i. so I had a little bit of learning working for him but I think also when I. Had grown up and tack and in many ways and being at AOL before I decided to start this company and while I, was. Really trying to solve a health problem for myself after I had had three children I wanted to lose the baby weight that I had put on and. Develop terrible adult acne I realized after looking at everything that I was putting all the food I was putting into my body that there's diet. Soda was had more ingredients in it than like I mean I I I talk about it now as I. Cared more about what I put in my car than what I put into my own body and I thought like why is that and a whole story around labels like Diet and you know there's low fat and vitamins and things like that that equated to health in my head but you weren't alone in that address. After switching from my Diet Soda over to Plain. Water, I two and a half weeks lost twenty four pounds got rid of my acne God my energy back and I said Gosh, there's just like a lot of people who are trying to figure out obviously how to get healthier and it's not. Right and and. Like if they could just actually enjoy water again, then they you know we might not have the brand new thing that cropped up about the time I was starting hint type, two diabetes you know things that are. Really. Dangerous chronic right and I thought they need to ultimately enjoy water maybe they need to do other things but that's a first step and so that's when I. Recognize that I didn't like water I aspired to be a water drinker and I start slicing bruton throwing in water and that's when. You know I thought I'm not even sure this is a company I think it's like A. I I don't know I think it's a product I'd worked for companies before right and so when I decided to take this product to whole foods and my local whole foods in San Francisco friends were would come over my house and I tell them. You know it started this little thing I wasn't even calling in a company and they're like that's so cool that you start a company I'm like is it a company? I don't know if it's a company like I have three skews like I'm not sure it's actually a company. But. That's when I really realized that I'm starting something that could actually help bigger range of people get healthier disrupted industry that doesn't care about health back. Then there was nobody calling companies mission driven I was mission driven from day one because I really wanted to help a lot of other people.

A Look at Bird Strike Countermeasures

"Obviously, bird strikes against you feel like this is an issue but it is right and these things especially. If. It's like a goose I mean, that's a I don't know what twelve pound object getting hit by something going for and miles per hour. Well, what what is, what is the damage like here and how do they? What is the technology keeping US safe from safe from these bird menaces it really is testing. That's what it is and designing for the regulatory requirements. So the regulatory criminal for aircraft for twenty five aircraft which are trying to transport category or. Larger business jets is a four pound bird I think is going at VC So that's a pretty fast speed. I'm electrical guy not a structural person but. Those tests are super destructive, and if you ever, you can go online and go on Youtube and see bird strike tests I've seen the other crazy it as look like they become liquid hitting these. Oh Yeah. Everything becomes at that speed is so much energy. Being dispersed in such a short span of time that biscuit the turn Jello. And it Kinda. It kinda it absorbs into the structure in which is running into, and then there's really no way. Today we actually have some competition ways to predict the amount of damage that recur, but we still do testing. So it's sort of a computational I look, and then we followed up with some validation testing. But as we have done that the last several years, we kinda get more and more. So the computational side. But? It's very easy to see aircraft that was struck by birds and the level of damage because it usually is not just one bird usually they're flying into a grouping birds. So birds hit windshields knows Rome spurts, wings, Burns, hidden vertical stabilisers, or horizontal stabilisers. burs being adjusted into engines are a huge problem because you can. On a wing, you can penetrate that leading edge and get into the thing. They got a fuel got fuel coming out right on an engine. It's going to go through that engine and you can lose or maybe maybe worn more than one bird typically but you can lose that particular engine and just like you're talking about with sully where they had birds go in and both engines in Las both engines so. It's. It's a really serious thing in if around airports that have bird probes and it tends to be at least in our part of the World Canadian geese that migrate want to hang out at the end of the runway. You'll see things like these noise canons, propane cannons at fire off once a minute to encourage the burs lands somewhere else because at a Canadian geese is bigger than a four. Pampered. Right So if you hit something that's obviously hopefully, you're catching it closer to the crown where you're going to get slower speed. So the energy last but the amount of damage that can occur bird impact is substantial substantial to the point where now we do a lot of testing to make sure that the bird can't bring down an airplane but still in the sully situation burs going both engine just really not much you're gonna be able to do their. The FAA puts up notices about where birds are. Philadelphia had a problem for a while. So yeah, it's it's really really serious, but it happens pretty often a lot more. It happens more often than lightning strikes in my opinion early, the damage more visible the lightning strikes because it is a debt left somewhere. On, the aircraft when shield knows radio. All over all over well so these engines are pulling in so much air and creating so much thrust. Create like vortex where a is more likely to go into the engineer or not really so much everything's happening. So fast I, mean you can kind of suck it in if it's if it's not directly in that lie in that line it can definitely could pull it in just grab. Yeah. It can kind of graphics. They do have some Massar but it's the engines pulling so much air sucking so much Erin to it it's it's like a vacuum just going to say anything it's around it into it So the engine manufacturers, Ge's Pratt and Whitney's the. Royce look at that as part of the one of their certification task is to validate what has a bird. Goes to the engine because what you don't. WanNa do is. Start loosening the heavy rotating parts of the rotors. Rhoda per situation. So not knowing you lose a bird, but then he got this flying grenade of an engine blowing holes in the wing and the fuselage and tail, and all this other stuff causes other problems. So it's it's a really serious certification thing but when we don't think about that much. I don't think of all the years I don't think about an aircraft has actually struck a bird I've seen damage from it but close but I don't think I've been an airplanes actually struck a bird. Have you ever been an airplane? That's? Not. What it now now makes me very nervous. So. Limited have my eye out for these birds album. I worry about it with a Canadian geese are or this large flocks in occasionally see it editor ports as you drive into an airport like There's a large flock of whatever geese hanging out down here. That probably smarter hope not taking off in that direction today.

The, Lake Yeah, it was very entertaining. I'll be uploading many of those. Like, they're having a great time out there. visit. Great. It was a great bet. You guys can see it on his instagram you're dragging your you got the boat. You're the kids are out on the rouse being dragged by the boat. They fly off. You pass the sack. You see the slasher out your. Their lives. I can. Carry? Them would have died I couldn't have posted it. Had this scroll through all my other videos to find out a comparable to find out that they were doing good something. We've got some cool ally interesting news about The McLaren announced that well, the Gordon Murray announcement that we wanted to get into. So we sort of got this job. So we can I hit that before we get started. Just, another word from our friends at Dodd's it's A. IT'S A it's time for dodge power dollars and that means for every horse power. You get ten dollars off your purchase on dodge challenger Dodge Charger and Dodge Durango come in and save dodge power dollars for pretty sweet deal. So as we As we are sitting down to record this. There's some news that's out there, and of course, the most interesting stuff that we're finding is Gordon Murray finally took the wraps off his. Off his new SUPERCAR, his t fifty supercar, Gern, Gordon Murray very famously designed a series of f one cars had a relationship with the Clarendon did the McLaren won Three Seater Central Driving Position Car I love that car bill I know you love that car it's sort of a wishlist amongst us all. I'm sure everyone who had an opportunity to get one at one point kicking themselves now because they keep going up thirteen, million, eight, hundred, million in life be knocked twenty million dollars going nuts So there was a great video presentation that came out. With Dario Franceschini taking a touring ordinary designs during Gordon, Murray on a moto and they took the wraps off this car and It's it's. It's pretty it's pretty cool. Gordon Murray's thing has always bands. About lightweight and from this car from. The initial design in his head all the way up to what it is. Now he said a goal of no more than one thousand kilos in weight and he hit nine eighty I believe puts it somewhere around twenty one, hundred, seventy, maybe twenty one, hundred, seventy, four pounds. This is extremely lightweight way in in. Today's world. Under twenty two hundred pounds. Of. A modern day car it. The Way to do that. And explain it when you go and you watch the videos, you read the press about it. Is. You have to design this thing from the ground up. With weight savings in mind every single step of the way, the the CAR IS MONACO CARBON FIBRE the entire bodies carbon fibre everything. That could be carbon. Fibre is carbon fiber of. The the engine he went to Cosworth and said, it needs to be naturally aspirated. It needs to be the twelve. It needs to be lightweight. needs to sound fantastic and it needs to be naturally aspirated. Of course, right? So. What they came up with was three point nine Liter v twelve. Six hundred and fifty, four horsepower. Three hundred and forty four pound feet of torque again small. You Know Small Displacement High Ramming twelve thousand one hundred RPM match. Enjoyment. You know I've A. Peak power is at eleven thousand, five, hundred dollars God, and the power to the Torah curved the I think the peak torque is around nine thousand. RPM. So between nine thousand and not red line of eleven five that thing just must sound insane and. Just skewed. Now, he didn't release any performance specs yet because Gordon Murray's thing is like I tell you zero to sixty whatever. But everyone's GonNa go after that intestine. beat it. He wanted to focus on the things that meant

A Funny Byproduct Of Having To Buy Fewer Products

"About our fancy frame TV. Over the last couple of weeks on the PODCAST and I guess also on the blog. If you've seen our last couple blog post, we've been talking about how we've been pleasantly surprised that the furniture we moved down here for the most part fit very well and naturally into our new home. Yeah, it is kind of amazing to say. We showed a bunch of stuff in the. The pod I mean we did have measurements for rooms, and we did have an idea of what we're going to wear, so we weren't just like willy. Nilly putting a bunch of things in the pod, but we knew as we loaded the pod like there is going to be a margin for error I'm sure we'll get there and something won't work the way we thought it. It would because there's really nothing like being in a space and moving furniture around like you can try to do that in your head. When you're not in the space, it's really hard to land on the right. You Know Group of objects in the right. Lay Out I think anytime. We've moved houses. There's been this process where like some of your old furniture doesn't fit in. In the new house, for whatever reason like maybe it's because of the scale of the peace or the exact dimensions, or even a style, but you know you have these pieces that just don't land and work I think we expected that issue with at least some of the things that we brought down, but again we're grateful. Most everything has pretty much worked as it is. Is Yeah were even things John was like I. don't even know why we're bringing this. And then we brought it, and like played a very important role like remember. We talked about those bookcases that we're using in the kitchen and they have like so much storage. They're basically like extending our cabinets using as a pantry fought to leave those in richmond or sell them in Richmond. Richmond because I didn't think we had a place for them. And Sherry was right and the table in the kitchen. There's like a round white table that was like a game table in our old house in the bonus room and John was like I can't picture for people being able to eat here. I can't picture it fitting in the kitchen and it like probably won't live. Live there forever, but it is so good for now and if it hadn't made the POD, we'd be in trouble once again. Sherry was right so I think it's been nice because we didn't have this kind of like panic buying mode when we got here. We're like we don't have a kitchen table shot for one real quick and pretty much the only things that we have. Have had to buy at least the big furniture pieces we've had to buy have been things we knew we'd have to get because we didn't bring them with us. Like our beds like we had to get an outdoor dining table and other side note as we were packing the dining table with outdoor dining table in Richmond, and it was routed in the legs fell off. So we basically bought the same sized table. It was a different finish in a different color, and it works perfectly like I'm actually really glad that one did fall apart in Richmond. Has that one was like seven years old and disbar gone, and even informed the decision like that one was would, and it was rotten, so we got a metal and resin one. That will not, so you know some things were just dumb. Luck. Something's were strategy, but whatever it is that led us to where we are. We both kind of expected to land me like okay so now we need a rug dresser aside table six lamps five. Cheers. But you know what I'm saying I thought we'd land and have this list of like huge furniture items we needed, and it's like all we really needed. Where the things we knew we needed off the bat like beds. Yeah I, think that's the point here is that we've been grateful that we haven't had to go on like this sudden shopping spree and the other thing I wanted. Wanted to point out that was interesting. As we are shopping for one of the other items. We knew we'd have to get which has been window coverings, because as you have probably seen on instagram. We've been using packing blankets. It's very swanky at Casa Peter Sick. Let me tell you packing blankets. They disintegrate into like a black soot, and it's all over your window sills, it's. It's all over your floors, but we have started to receive some of the curtains that we bought, and it highlighted something interesting about downsizing and going to a smaller house that I think we consciously have known, but this particular purchase was like a good case study to help us quantify one of the benefits of living in a smaller space and furnishing a smaller space I think. Think things that are more obvious to everyone is like Oh to clean and less to pay to heat and cool like we said that over and over again. It's like less maintenance if I only have one bathroom I, worry less about maintaining four showers, enforcing them leaking and all that stuff, but I think this is one of those things where it's like when we say it. But it's just a thing we consciously knew, but then it was really interesting to see the actual numbers I. Actually don't know all the numbers. John is going to reveal them to me. Yeah, so I actually went back and tallied how many curtain panels and blinds we had to buy for our Richmond House, which as you probably heard? Her say is more than twice the size of the house. We are now living in Florida. So obviously had more windows to cover. Yeah, I can't wait to hear the numbers. John was like their staggering. I was staggered, so keep in mind. We didn't have curtains on every window so like not in the kitchens, bathrooms or anything like that and having a dining room, either yes, so this is not representative all the windows, so we had actually more blinds, and we had curtains, but we had twenty four curtain panels in Richmond. House K Twenty four, and I should point out. Out In recent months before we left, we were starting to like double up. Some of the curtain panels to make them look thicker right. Some have always been double in our living room. That was four panels instead of to on that big picture window in our office. We had a big picture window with four pounds instead of two. Did you just count those to? Double them because I couldn't remember what was doubled, so the twenty four number is probably closer to like thirty or thirty two. Yeah, that's what I would guess. We also have thirty blinds throughout. The houses were also. Roughly sixty two different window coverings. That Jack's yeah I mean. It was a lot I. Remember hanging those. It took us forever and I remember buying them, and it was so much money. I remember the blinds. We were like Oh. Do we need lines? Backpedal real quick and when we got home depot and saw the total. Yes, so again thirty ish curtain panels thirty blinds. Are you ready for the Florida numbers? I can't wait in Florida instead of thirty. We only need eight curtain panels, eight curtain panels versus thirty well, there's the saving instead of thirty blinds. We need five blinds. Five lines is my favorite and. And we're being very specific about these lines, guys. No one has researched blinds more than us. We will share what we pick when it arrives and we're sure we like it I. Don't want to jinx it. Hence all the packing blankets because we're taking our time and I also just for fun also looked at the number of curtain panels in blinds that. That we had to buy for the Beach House and the duplex. That's going to be like a million. A million I mean feel like we're. It's going to be close because it was three kids nine bathrooms like it was six seven, eight nine hundred ten bedrooms like it's a lot of juices well, and it was also fifty two curtain panels O and And Forty two blinds, no regrets right. We're glad we had curtains and blinds, but it sure is nice. When what did you say it's eight and five here in Florida compared to when we tally all of those previous homes that we sold eighty two curtain panels and seventy two blinds is so insane. Yes, and we ironed in hand

How to Eat 45,000 Extra Calories Without Gaining Weight

"And today's show was suggested by Fabio. Who writes? I came across a study on bodybuilders, which suggests that a caloric surfeit doesn't contribute to weight gain as you would expect when the extra calories come solely from protein. Can you comment on it? The study Fabio asked me about was published in two thousand and fourteen in the Journal of the International. Society of Sports Nutrition and it is definitely worth a closer look. The subjects in this study were all in their early twenties, and they were all engaged in heavy resistance, training or weightlifting. They were quite lean and very muscular, going into the study in fact, if you looked only at their body, mass index their BMI numbers. It looked as if the subjects were on the verge of. City, but when you look at their body composition, it's clear that the higher body weights related to their heights word due to their very high muscle mass. One group in the study then added a lot of extra protein to their diet in the form of way, protein powder, and when I say a lot I mean a lot. These athletes had previously been consuming about one gram of protein per pound her day, or about twenty to twenty five percent of their calories. Now this is about twice the recommended minimum intake, but it's still comfortably within the acceptable range for protein that's laid out by the National Academy of Medicine, which is formerly known as the Institute of Medicine. For the study, the researchers essentially doubled the appleans protein intake to an average of three hundred grams per day now that is quite a bit higher than the National Academy of Medicine Maximum recommended intake, and it's also as the researchers point out, and I'm quoting here. The highest recorded intake of dietary protein in the scientific literature that we are aware of and quote. The researchers didn't evaluate whether this extremely high protein intake had any negative impacts on liver or kidney function, but many of the subjects did complain of intestinal distress during the study. However, nobody is recommending that eating this much protein would be a good idea on a long-term basis. The point of this short term study was simply to find out how eating protein in excess of caloric requirements would affect body composition in highly trained people, and when they say highly trained, they mean resistance training not trained in the scientific method or whatever. So? The subject's didn't eat less of other foods. They just added the way protein and of what they were already eating, or at least that's what they were supposed to do. In reality, some of the subjects ended up eating fewer carbohydrates. Others actually ate a bit more carbohydrate, but on average they managed to increase the caloric intake by eight hundred calories per day mostly from protein, and they also continue. Continue to do their usual strenuous workouts. So what were the results of this grand experiment? Well, according to the researchers and I'm going to quote again here. The current investigation found no changes in body, weight, fat, mass, or fat, free mass in the high protein Diet Group and this occurred in spite of the fact that they consumed over eight hundred calories more per day for eight weeks and quote. Now how is this even possible? Where did all of those extra calories go? After all eight hundred extra calories a day for eight weeks equals about forty five thousand calories, which according to the Conventional Calorie, math should have translated into a gain of almost thirteen pounds, and in fact when you look at the actual data, you will see that the subjects did gain some weight just not nearly as much as the old school. Calorie math would have predicted. In the group consuming the extra protein, the average change in weight was a gain of almost four pounds, meanwhile in the control group, who purportedly changed nothing about their diets or workouts. The average change in weight over the eight week period was a gain of almost two pounds. Similarly both groups gained some muscle. The high protein group gained an average of four pounds of lean muscle. The control group gained just three, and both groups also lost a bit of body fat. The high protein group lost a bit less than the control group. So how can the researchers conclude that eating the extra protein didn't lead to any way change or changes in body composition. Well because the differences between the test group and the control group weren't large enough to be statistically significant. Now, I want you to keep in mind as well that this was a relatively small study, only about thirty subjects completed the study, and there was quite a bit of variation in the results of the individual subjects, and sometimes that gets a little obscured. When we're just talking about averages for example in the group consuming the extra protein, the average change in weight was A. A gain of almost four pounds, but some of the subjects in this group actually lost weight while others gained twice as much as the average, and when the variants and results that wide. You'd need a lot more subjects in your study before those averages would be very meaningful. Okay, despite all of these statistics, nerd caveats, it is still somewhat surprising that the group that eight. Extra calories didn't gain more weight than they did. And that the differences between them and the control group weren't bigger.

'Fleabag' play to be streamed online for COVID-19 relief effort

"I would love to rally the guilty feminists troops. Who if they cross over into fleabag fans might find a few that Dogra something in this for them flip on the TV show was originally a play? It was a woman show. It lost seventeen minutes. And it's just me being fleabag on a stool that two thousand thirteen stepper knows about because she was responsible for me watching the first ten minutes. I'm always very clear. Say when I'm asked in the press about it that I am one hundred percent you've written it any way you might find something slightly different but that was bursting to come out and I'm sure it would have come out but I'm also obviously delighted and thrilled to that. Came out of that that moment. And you know that there's always magic and midwifery in the theater is always always. There is magic midwifery. I love that. The longest show is the national fate. Live recording of fleabag. The West end production of it is now up and can be watched on Soho Theatre. Domon website or Amazon prime for a minimum donation of four pounds and everything we make be split between various charities the national emergency trust and just together charities and acting for others and finally there will be fleabag support fund for people in our industry who basically are struggling and need grants to help them get through this time seventy percent goes to the national emergency trust. Nhs together charities in thirty percent goes towards community through this other charities which is very important to us goes back started in the first place so if you liked a fleabag the television show. It's wonderful to see the evolution and also you don't just play back you transform yourself into the other characters and it's so beautiful so if everybody who listen to the guilty feminist who could afford four pounds more downloaded that today that would provide so many pieces of protective clothing. Four and it just off it will save lives. And if you can't afford to that's Okay. It's possible you've lost your job. You're one of the very people who works in a sector that needs this kind of grant you can help by just amplifying give it a follow. Give it a re tweet. Tell a friend tell somebody you know who loved fleabag. Hey did you know that you could do this and I really appreciate you doing that? Because that's a a valuable piece of intellectual property and a beautiful production and the fact that you're now putting it out there and making accessible also through the crisis when people are at home desperate fulfilling like there at the theatre again to be able to have that theatrical experience which is different than televised

"You told me you have some major housewives gossip. I have major housewives. Gaza go has not been reported anywhere yet. It's it's sort of writing news breaking news but I will say it's kind of secondhand so it's sort of like a second hand on the grounds like hey less you don't care if it's sixteen pounds over here and we don't care if it's true and so I have become friendly with a woman who lives in London. Whose House is sand. There aren't many of them. Okay so right and and cool people because is it hard to get Bravo over there. Yeah they don't have Bravo. They air the shows on reality channel. Getting Pie in the face was his trademark mark. He said he's been hit by a pie or thrown apply twenty thousand times in his career. It's a joke almost as old as comedy itself and it never fails to get laugh. So how do you beat classic you amplify it make it explode. Yes ladies and germs. I'm talking about a food. Fight in Nineteen seventy-four Bell Brooke started a fight in blazing saddles that began in the studio commissary spilled onto a movie set and made its way out onto the streets of Los US Angeles in nineteen seventy eight. The John Belushi who fired the shot that started one of the best known food fights ever filmed. Today we examine Zaman food fights where to go. If you WANNA be part of one how you can stage your own and what. The best foods are for creating your own masterpiece at home. The idea food fight isn't hard to grasp. Is people throwing food at one another for fun. It's fun because it's so socially wrong. And it makes the best. These types of food food fights are fun but they don't always turn out the way you planned for instance. Ten San Antonio high school students were arrested after starting a fight in the school cafeteria because there is some nine hundred students in the cafeteria at the time and most of them are trying to get out. The students were charged with inciting a riot in two thousand sixteen gene. Another high school prank took place at Monarch High School in Coconut Creek Florida. The day began normally enough students using superglued seal lockers classroom doors then. Lunchtime came around the trumpet. Blue and students began to hurl as you could imagine. It took a lot of time and money to clean up leading one football player to say. I hope that doesn't affect our football program because we work hard to get our new stuff like New Jersey's and stuff like that how precious but what if you want to be part of a food fight in stay outside the prison cafeteria. Have I got some places for you. Probably the most famous one is law. Toma Tina held each year and billion Spain. It's here that friends. Neighbors tourist pitched tomatoes at each other. It happens in late August and about one hundred metric tons of tomatoes. Go flying for about an hour. I'll put a video link to it in the show notes. Moving up the road to Italy. You'll you'll find the battle of oranges. It began after a woman killed a ruler. WHO said he had the right to sleep with any bride on her wedding night? These days that Murderous Act Act is celebrated by soldiers in period costumes riding through the streets and chariots with people hurling oranges at him as a symbol of the people rising up against unjust rulers. I it's messy and fun with a hint of citrus. Charlie Chaplin inspired the World Custard Pie Championship in Cox Heath Britain teams of five work work against one another to land pie strategically on their opponents. A pie to the face gets the most points in reality. The pies are not made custard just flour power and water mandatory springs Colorado hosts a fruitcake tossing contest. It's designed to get rid of all those edible fruit cake to get. During the holidays. There are two classes one for two pound cakes and another four pound cakes and there are the automated divisions that include catapults and slingshots and As you would expect there are great throwing fights along with lots of other varieties. You could do some research it easily come up with more however if you prefer to. Diy Your own food nick. I've got some helpful hints. I attacked from the rear. If you're staging your own fight be sure to think about cleanup I because the whole point of this is to make commits if it's outdoors. Make sure there's a garden hose around before any one goes into the house. This is made even easier if you have a nude food fight. One in group of Pranksters plan their fight in a public park just before a major thunderstorm. They also had a friend with a pickup truck so they could ride in the bed. After the fight it has also been recommended to Rub Petroleum Jelly. All over your body before the fight to keep smells and colors from getting into your skin again. If you plan a new food fight right this can add another fund dimension. Apparently food fights are popular for children's birthday parties the kids can be divided into teams that use a progressive list of ingredients ingredients to vanquish their foes. One suggestion was to start with water then progressed to flower. Add a little butter some baking powder and you're ready to make biscuits as is an after battle tree. So what are you going to let everyone toss a balloon filled with fruit juice. Cookies with applesauce beings popcorn mashed potatoes. Pasta Pasta and marshmallows are all good choices. Some of those are good for spearing. So you can add insult to injury so now when it comes to food fights your smart Cookie

"Really four pounds of produce a day we were really going aggressive and some thirty percent of those patients like you were saying miraculously almost instantaneous reversal of chronic disorders and and and disease in contrast is thirty percent that would kind of smaller along may be a little bit better in this area of that then there was this nieto third or or forty percent that we're getting worse instantly on health food in the best food on the planet and yet they're getting their inflammation markers are going up rashes are getting worse their arthritic joints are getting worse they are sick and it took me a while to years of that to start to believe that the patients were let you i would i asked you cheating muslim must be drinking sowed on the side them and what always solves that misperception our judgment or denial is relationship and so i finally got into relationship with these patients long enough or they were like kin to me you know and i started to realize oh my gosh they're trying so hard and they're doing exactly what i'm asking them to do and they're getting worse and so then we started asking will wonder if there's something intrinsically happening in the food because at this point i i didn't know anything about round up in or anything about chemical farming is this dr try and looted nutrition and so i was thinking macronutrients and carbohydrates and fat and pray i was not thinking about chemical industry at all and so as we started ask questions about the food we started realize there's good studies right now out sowing that a tomato has almost no like opoened left in at compared to the tomato the 1950s likely looked super red into looking better than the tomato ninety dj agent i it is mad a couple of spots on it and maybe a yellow spot and it wasn't this red orb with no on it because it's grown in a hydroponic garden never touches the soil and so they look great but there's good science now showing than our food is literally been deleted of the nutrients and and and not just the fuel but the actual medicines within it.
