First Berlin Production Equipment, New Largest Supercharger Location, Daimler Emissions
"Our here, and today we have a super charger network update, which is nice. Little throwback for those of you that have listened to the podcast for a long time I used to do those every day at the start of the podcast. We also have some news on Berlin paint a small little updates slash rumor. I would call it on Battery Day and the news on Daimler Nikola Motor as. Well. Tesla stock with another really strong day to day even though it was relatively quiet news wise finishing up seven point two percent to four hundred and forty nine dollars seventy six sense that compared to the Nasdaq up one point two percent we'll start off with these super charger news. This is coming from Brian Mac se on twitter, who is a long-time listener and I believe Patriot supporter of. The podcast who happen to come across a super charger network location under construction near Firebaugh California. As far as I can tell, this location had not yet been noticed. So upon Brian tweeting these out Tesla Motors Club Forum members did some digging on this and they were actually able to find that the permit for the site as well as planning documents for sort of a conglomerate travel center at. This location those documents disclosed that Tessa. We'll have fifty six spots for Tesla charging at this travel center. Assuming each of those spaces has a super charger associated with it. fifty-six chargers would put this as the largest superchargers location in North America and possibly in the world surpassing cattleman city in the United States at forty chargers and believe in China, there are a couple locations that have fifty chargers. So. Pretty exciting this location is between San Francisco and La driven miles. It's about two hundred and thirty miles from La and about one hundred and fifty from San Francisco. It's not clear if these will be all version three superchargers but I'd have to imagine that they would be and as far as other features go. It looks like about two thirds of them thirty eight of the fifty six. will be pull through hopefully accommodating the use of a trailer and making things a bit easier for the cyber truck and potentially also accommodating the semi of course, cincy unveil of the semi. We haven't heard much more about Tesla's mega charger plans. So hopefully, we get a bit of an update on that during battery debt. Right next today is an update on Gigabytes Lynn gigafactory underscore four on twitter. Has Been following. The gigafactory development closely looks like some equipment has started to arrive, and some of that equipment carries branding for Geico Tikey Shah? which is a paintshop solutions provider based in Milan Italy. There's also some signing there that is co branded between that company and desolate GEICO take show describes their approach by saying quote innovation is our weapon of choice were constantly increasing the technological possibilities in. Order to meet the needs of the most demanding customers in a highly competitive sector and quote they also seem to be heavily focused on sustainability and they're their paintshop operations. They have a project called the party's project, and they say quote with the Party's project launched in two thousand, five Geico Kotecki show was the world's first company to offer zero environmental impact paintshop reducing consumption by seventy percent and. So. Without really knowing much more about the company does he pretty good fit for Tesla we know Tesla has pretty big aspirations with the shop and gigabyte Lin Yuan talked about it many times and even setting Matt aside, it's good to start to see some production equipment on the grounds of Giga Berlian and though I haven't seen it yet. Maybe this gives us another milestone to compare the progress with Giga Shanghai from what I can. Tell, it looks like paintshop equipment started being put in place at Giga. Shanghai. In early to mid August of two thousand, nineteen with production of course, then starting about four months later. So if that's the case, if Berlin falls a similar time line that could potentially project out to start production and January probably best to keep expectations for later than that but I do think it's helpful to keep an eye on how those timelines compare all Right next up today is something that could end up being completely nothing but I thought it was at least interesting enough to share earlier today Fred Lammert over at electric tweeted out a couple of images of him holding a pretty significantly sized battery cell and Fred Ask if anyone has seen this battery cell before or you have some information about them, please reach out to him. A says also by the way, this new cell May. Or may not have been made by Tesla I don't really have much speculation to add this. A couple of people on twitter were saying that it does look like a tablets design which we've talked about and past episodes. But really just pointing out to say could be something to keep an eye out for the next couple of days if electric is able to you dig up a little bit more information on whatever this ends up being. Last couple of pieces of news here. Today I on Daimler Daimler has reached a settlement with the US government to pay one and a half billion dollars and settlements and penalties to the US and California State to resolve allegations of Daimler using emissions test cheating software to conceal the actual emissions from vehicles even with the settlement, and despite the fact that engineers at the EPA found software designed to cheat the emissions tests. Damore denies wrongdoing saying quote as stated in the consent degrees the. Class Action Settlement the company denies the authorities allegations as well as the class action plaintiffs claims and does not admit any liability to the United States. California plaintiffs or otherwise and quote. So I don't know kind of disappointing to see a settlement of that nature that doesn't require the admission of fault with such seemingly strong evidence against Daimler right lasting today is a quick update on Nikola Motors. It sounds like from the comments yesterday that most of you preferred that I don't do significantly. Deep dive on this budget stick to the high level updates, which I'm totally fine with if Trevor Milton wanted to come back on the PODCAST, I would probably do that. Otherwise, we'll stick with these updates anyway today the Wall Street Journal and other outlets are reporting that the Justice Department has started to also investigate Nikola Motors due to the allegations that they had misled investors by making exaggerated claims about their technology I know that sounds similar to

Garden as refuge with Ken Druse
"Kind of an eerie juxtaposition out the window and unfair days outside when we can go outside right now unfolding beauty and innocence. You know tiny bulbs plump Little Buds and the headlines. Hourly and daily so You know I wanted to backtrack about what gardening means tests and sort of what brought us to it. What brought you. How long have you been gardening since I was very young house was a teenager and I started with indoor plants and got really turned on and then when I went to college in Rhode Island I was kind of close to Danielson Connecticut which is where low Geez is and you know I was thinking about all this stuff and I think that shopping has a lot to do with my acquisitive NECE and interest in? You know seeing the new plant finding new plant thing will there? Also incredible and shopping online is something you can do now so really well. So you're GONNA be spending some money and when you you said you were a teenager and so forth. What did it besides these sort of amassing a collection? That sort of instinct. That you apparently had Was there some other escapism or something else that brought you to it or you know. I don't know I don't want to project too. I mean I can tell you mine but I just you know I don't know I I know I have a need to nurture and I just love. It's so exciting to see you know. It seems like slow-motion in most cases but to see a plant grow and thrive or something from seed that sometimes. That's pretty fast and from sea to in your case edibles. It's a miracle and to participate in that it it. I'm thinking how heartwarming it is. And that's it's you know it's a boost. Then it makes you. It makes you think about tomorrow. Yeah Yeah I mean for me. I was in my twenties and I mean you know the story most of my listeners. Know Story You know as my twenties. My father had died the next year. My mother was forty. Nine was diagnosed with early onset. Alzheimer's disease I don't even think they called it that at that time but that was the idea and so there. I was called home for my to cover my widowed mother and that unfolded this strange time in my young life and I was close to home to stay close to home during the day. I had a job at night. Someone else came and care for her at night. And what are you GONNA do? I mean as I say you can only watch so much daytime. Tv When you're twenty four twenty five years old and so I got a garden book. As someone gave me Crockett's victory garden and I would seem sad expression. Victory Gardens seems appropriate right now and I you know and I just started doing the stuff in it like I started going to the local garden center and whatever it said I just bought those seeds or that plant or just did these crazy experiments and obviously killed most of the things in the early going. You know I didn't know what I was doing. But that was my entree was during a very dark time and my my younger life So it's been a refuge for me You know number of times it seen me through. I have often said my gardens has saved me many times so I find I'm thinking of spending more time outside because I can't go at the moment And all of my vents. I'm sure like yours have been postponed at least through. May and I'm sure through June and whatever as well Are you thinking of doing more are you? I'm trying to assign myself some projects things I've put off because usually I have garden visitors and I can't make a mess and leave the mess there for weeks while I you know do a Jew Be Greenwich Ovation or something. I'm thinking well. This is the time Margaret. Nobody's coming right well. We we already talked about me shopping. I haven't really gotten that into that but I probably will usually I shop for something because I see something and then I track it down online and then that leads me. Oh they have a minimum order. Oh and then there's five plants and you only wanted one and then there's shipping savings if you buy forty nine dollars for the plant's not that. I've ever done that but I it's almost time for me to spruce up the house plans and that's something. I can do something I should do. You know do a house plant Rehab. I every day I run to light cart to see who's changed or what seed has sprouted. Miracle never tired of that miracle so there there's that Planted some perennials. Yesterday that came in the mail and they were dormant. How so that's happening already in? That's going to continue. I got a Beirut Cherry tree that I'm growing pot I don't know why right well but whatever gets you through. I mean I think right so you said I loved. You said WHO's changed. You went to the light cart To look at your all your little babysit who. You didn't say what she said. Who and I think of them. The same way to plants are not some inanimate objects some it right. You know I think of them as as as who not one but so you said House Plant Rehab. So this is a time for that and we have time. 'cause we're home and we have time to notice and we can. That's a good suggestion for me. Because a lot of years. I get so hectic. Try and get ready for the open gardens. I don't do my repotting of those house plants on their way out the door for the summer or do you know what I mean. I skip it. So that's a really good one when they're on their way out which is late usually mid. May and wouldn't it be great to for me to clean the leaves with a sponge and a little couple of drops dish soap in accord of warm water? And just clean off the dust but also some of them get a little city mole alden. There's all sorts of insects that can actually be removed with a sponge in a tiny bit of soap and water so The things that have ever removed most of the house plants and things that have firm leaves like citrus and Camelia. If you grow things like that and philodendron which you can go anywhere some philodendron. I put my hand under the leaf than just rub the top brush sponging were almost everything comes right off. The plants look so much better and then they say thank you. Yeah Yeah 'cause I mean. Spending a winter indoors is not really their thing. And all that unseen dust that moves around in the air with The heating system when heating systems on in any house right. And you find that fine dust like my clive is all have that by this time of year and they need a nice Tending you so you have you have a Camelia You Grow Hoyas don't you? I I do. There's one at the kitchen window and luckily that's very close the kitchen sink because the plant small enough. It'll go right in the kitchen sink and get washed off there or you have the climate as you. Probably take him to the shower. Yeah I do I do but Yeah but the hoyas. I've never grown them. I've grown them somehow as needed greenhouse. And well we can talk about what they are. They used to be part of the milkweed family but I think they've separated them now but they're semi succulent. They have thick leaves. They're pretty slow growing except in the spring when they kind of shoot. I have one wonderful one called Hoya Carey. I and I started with one leaf in a pot and it stayed that way for about five years. Want an apart- many years ago and then all of a sudden it just exploded a now. It's a very big viney plant. I have it on a a wreath circle. You know stuck in this well. It's a long story but I wound round and round and it has beautiful flowers when it blooms in the summer and it has heart shaped leaves. I have another one that has purple flowers. They don't flower very often. And it's important not to trim eight trim where the flowers come because it blooms on Spurs Kinda like an apple tree and it'll bloom over and over again on the same spurs so you have to not cut those dead head so to speak to the flowers and their fragrance almost all of them and if you do cut it or it will bleed white. Latex like a lot of succulents and milkweed male creates right. Right right

Super Bowl 54 Recap
"Kansas City Thirty One San Francisco Twenty air it. It is Mitchell as he's been waited his whole damn life to make that call and cheese fans. They've been waiting fifty years for their team to Hoist Lombardi and it finally finally happened on this. The second of February two thousand twenty the Kansas City chiefs are the super bowl champions after that thirty one to twenty win over the San the average Cisco Forty nine dollars a game in which they were down like they were all their postseason games by double digits. This time in the fourth quarter and yet Patrick Mahomes and company would not not be denied. Dan Heads here the around the NFL podcast presented by little caesars. And yes I'm coming to you from a hard rock stadium that is filled with heroes mark. Sesser Chris Wesseling and Greg Rosenthal. What is up boys? Hey Dan still filled with some chiefs fans and employs employs. Usually I feel like we start the taping after midnight. got going a little quicker like there's still an MVP chant going on the exciting. These fans. Don't WANNA leave. They've waited. You know half a century for this. Yeah usually when we're here it feels like we're ghosts like passing passing through a stadium and and and you can't. You're not sure if you're humid or not until you get back to the hotel but in this case where here. The field is is covered in confetti. Where on the third level the really Nice hardrock stadium here in Miami was great Super Bowl Week? A lot of fun a great city for a super bowl the eleventh and Super Bowl in this area which is most just past New Orleans and If you're a cheese fan this was the dream come come true and I got to watch the second half of this game in the seats With my cousin Matt and I just you know watching an older gentleman guy looked like he was in his fifties with his wife Cheese FAN IN JERSEY. As that game it became clear. After obviously the Damian will even before the Damian Williams run that clinched it it was becoming clear then the Williams touchdown and then there was this release. Like Oh my God the chiefs are GonNa win the Super Bowl and it was a well-earned win and one that didn't look particularly like it was heading in this direction even halfway through the fourth. That's quarter the chiefs to me. Their players and coach Kinda remind me of the fans. It's been so long since they got that Super Bowl in Randy read. It's been so long a guy like Frank Clark find his way there. Honey Badger finds his way to Kansas City to make this happen. Terrell suggs is lucky enough to come along for the ride at the end of the year. A lot of I just find their way to Kansas City and end up winning this one and you're right fourth quarter at midway through the fourth quarter forty nine hundred ninety five point six percent win probability. I know that's not your stat. The latest evidence that people need to stop talking about win probability it means nothing other than a twitter talking boy. It means it means it's unlikely the other team's GonNa win and now know Kyle Shanahan. Would it peaked at about ninety nine point wait. Six percent against the Patriots early in the fourth quarter always had ninety five point six percent. The percentage. I don't think takes into account Patrick Mahomes uh-huh it just doesn't or the chiefs offense or Andy Reid like the way that you have to dominate Patrick mahomes and make his life. If uncomfortable for sixty minutes I think is the hardest thing to do in the NFL. The forty niners balled out on defense. Not Unlike I believe the the Seahawks balled out on defense against the broncos. They did so many things right for the first three quarters. I think in a lot of scenarios and with a lot of quarterbacks that game would have been twenty seven to six at with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter and they're never could've been a comeback but mahomes got out of a lot of plays blaze. That could have gone worse. He had a lot of negative. Plays the chiefs defense. Did just enough and it just shows you. Yeah you can. You can do a lot while. They held him to five point three yards per play which is a very very low number for the chiefs and she's still put up thirty one points in nine drives. They barely have the ball. They still went over not surprising. Because that's what they've been doing for for months and months and if we had one kernel of information going into the for the last two weeks to to base our analysis on that the chiefs and Patrick Mahomes I would open the third quarter with back to back picks by Patrick Mahomes and that the niners would be nestling a twenty two ten lead minutes into into the fourth. You would think this is a perfect setup for San Francisco to run away with this thing but if you give Patrick Mahomes even ten minutes to operate and it gets hot. Aw everything's off the table. Fifty fifty two and a half minutes of game time the niners down day and I remember thinking as has the game was reaching as it's ticking through the fourth quarter and they have a twenty two ten lead and thinking what made the chief. So unstoppable all when they were humming the regular season but especially in those two comebacks in the AFC playoffs it. was that big play ability. That the niners there's through their dominant front four. Were taking away. Mahomes running for his life just by his brilliance kept the game close because is almost any other quarterback decided. Lamar Jackson has a couple sacks. Fumbles and the game gets away. Like what Von Miller Cam Newton a few years back but he was able to stay on his feet. Keep the game from getting away and the what really sticks out to me at that moment again. Midway through the fourth quarter after the tyreek hill catches is overturned on review. And you feel the entire building is psyching up. It feels like the niners are about to make the big play. Plays away from winning the super. Aw It is third and a miles third and fourteen. I believe third and fifteen and I leaned to my cousin Matt. I said the most likely play. Is You get try to get half of this back and then make a manageable fourth-down fourth and five and get it done. But no that's not what the chiefs do that's not how they operate and even a game where they never made any big plays with the season on the line mahomes dropback. This time found tyreek Hill West on a busted coverage and that changed
Buying property is emotional. Tech can help people understand their homes climate risk.
"Adapt to climate change? And we're re airing pieces from our series how we survive rising sea Levels along with more severe storms and higher tides mean places that have rarely or never flooded are flooding now and when you're making that huge it's life decision of where to buy a house you kind of want to know if that's going to happen. We have digital tools that make it easy to hunt for a house even shopper a mortgage but try to find find out the flood risk of any particular piece of property and all of a sudden. You're kind of on your own. Marketplace Tech Producers Steph Hughes has more when Brian Rankin for a saw his house house on Maryland's eastern shore. He hadn't immediate emotional reaction. I just fell head over heels in love with it. It's truly unique house. It's got all glass last walls and it looks very futuristic in eighteen sixties. Kind of way. It's got a big screened in porch a dock and it's close to the water really close it's closer than it's now Permitted it's eight feet from the water and right now. All structures have to be a hundred feet from the shoreline Reagan actuary. That means it's his job to think about risk yet. He wasn't really thinking about climate related flood risk when he bought this house he loves boating and swimming and this was a vacation home that has kids and grandkids could enjoy ideally for generations nations. So he bought it. He spent three years renovating it then. One day. His wife pointed him towards a website that showed their waterfront houses. Well quite vulnerable to sea level rise. I didn't look at it very closely. Because it's it's worrisome. You actually didn't want too much information. No I'm sorry you're right. I don't because to be honest with view. I worry that I don't worry enough. And so you know it's like only so much I can handle. It's a growing business to help people understand this kind of risk right right now. There are bigger companies focused at the institutional level two of them Jupiter Intelligence and four twenty-seven both based in the bay area collect and sell data and there are a little guys is to well. I think that most people don't know that we exist. Albert slap is the CEO of coastal risk consulting. A start up in Florida. Five years ago he joined forces with scientists to translate global climate data into custom-made reports for individuals. Here's what they're based on an algorithm software that takes big data and and crunches it in the Amazon cloud down to the property level. That technology can build profiles of the natural hazard and climate risk for every piece of property property in the US real estate investors governments insurers and Yup individual homeowners by the reports they come with maps and color graphs showing the risk. It's more unreadable and more comprehensive alternative to the federal government's flooding maps. Here's Melissa Roberts of the nonprofit American fled coalition what homeowners had to rely on was was the fema maps which are really an alphabet. Soup of flood zone designations. That are really confusing. So you would look it up and see you know I'm an A.. Or a Er our senior VP. That alphabet soup of government identified flood. Zones was actually meant for the insurance industry not regular homeowners. The maps are hard to understand and they don't reflect into projections of sea level rise. They're heavy rainfall. Robert says there's a huge opportunity around this information gap you could easily see. Something added into Zillow our realtor DOT COM. That had you know a one to ten scale telling you what your flood risk could look like and people who already own a property with some flood risk might pay for more information we bought a report from coastal risk consulting forty nine dollars to assess risk on that glass vacation home on the riverbank in Maryland. Brian rank and read through it. I'm looking at the first page and I know right away that you know this is my property. You know you can see our doc. The Judson in the river when he gets to the page on title flooding it predicts his party will deal with it well pretty much every day by the year. Twenty thirty four. So what's he going to do now. That is a great question. I mean I just finished the I want to enjoy it but when you think about what's going to happen like you know it's it's an honest thing to have a second helmets like your plus if you have a place in the water. Oh you're just lucky but

Dot Com Slash Tech Talk Ziprecruiter the smartest way to hire remember. The windows phone got came and went a few years ago. Now Microsoft is back in the phone business with a new phone. We've got Edward Big here from USA Day. Just attended the repented York head. Tell everybody about this new phone well. I should probably start by saying Microsoft. Leave or not is is Lowe's to call this thing the phone the they're they're referring to as a surface which of course is the name of of their line of very hardware products. The actual name is surface duo and it looks like a phone acts like a phone my mom nine the phone. It's an android device can do all the android apps and guess what can make phone calls. We don't know yet in Tech. The product is is more than a year away due out and holiday twenty twenty so so Microsoft isn't talking about pricing at this stage it's really a prototype also have some wireless ear buds which are very popular this year. Tell us about those yeah I got to put them in my ear. these are surface ear buds. They're not cheap the two hundred and forty nine dollars which is more for for for example then you pay for Apple Air Pods I got to put him in my ear. They seem reasonably comfortable. You know you you you really want to try when you're out and about which I didn't get to do yet they sounded okay and in a very noisy noisy room where Microsoft showed them off it does I do some interesting things beyond listening to music though for example you could manage your outlook calendar with your voice and even dictate live captions into into a powerpoint powerpoint presentation which I tried and that worked pretty well. It's pretty impressive. Of course it's always internet dependent connectivity dependent so they're trying to play this up to almost as productivity device that you can wear all the time in addition to listen to music and they obviously had some new service computers. What's the one big service computer you WANNA. Tell us all about well. There were a few of them mostly terrific improvement on on them. They do have a new one. That's called the surface pro to chew in one. It's got an edge to edge thirteen inch display. It starts at around a thousand dollars coming November fifth well. It sounds like as we look to the holidays. The ear buds would be the product that people might want to look at the most host. Eero lowers prices for wifi home assist
"Hiring isn't easy but there is one place you can go where hiring is simple in smart that place is ziprecruiter where growing businesses connect to qualified candidates ended its try it for free at Ziprecruiter. Dot Com Slash Tech Talk Ziprecruiter the smartest way to hire so we're back in Seattle with Nick Weaver Birds Founder and CEO of Bureau. which is the device that helps you get better? Wifi in the home nick. Tell everybody about the new products yeah. We're really excited about it. It's the most affordable all euro system today it start shipping today and it starts at only two hundred forty nine dollars for a set of three so it's half the price of our current euro pro system awesome. Tell folks who don't know the quick little story about what the euro device will do. Everybody's got Wi fi and they've got dead spots in the home your device we'll do what for them yes so eros this really as simple whole-home. Wi Fi system so in today's world when you're connecting devices all over your home you might have a an echo in office and fire fire TV in the living room ring camera outside your door the days of having one router just in one part of your house or over it's not going to provide the type of coverage and reliability and performance that you need to connect all these devices make sure you've seamless connectivity in every room in the home and so what we pioneered. Eero was the concept of Mesh System so instead of one unit. You can have multiple for euro. You can buy single units. You can buy systems uh-huh that are sets of three and you don't need to stop there. You can keep adding units to make sure you're able to tailor a system that covers every room of your house or even the backyard so basically many routers yeah every euro unit can be both a router or A. Mesh axis at this point where you just plug it into power or it can be a wired access point if you have Ethernet in in your home and what's great is you set them up with the APP and and they self configure so you don't need to be. It whiz or or or have a you know a degree in networking to understand how the products work you just set them up the APP takes care of it. It's super seamless and anyone can do it. Okay and in a perfect world should have three euros in the home or the at the home is now changing. Do you see a day where we're supposed to have six nine. I'm thinking well the reason our our systems are sets of three is that covers the a typical home in in in the US and so you know a good rule of thumb. Is You want to have one unit per every call it thousand the two thousand square feet it all depends on home construction and so what we've found with three is you can cover typical home and it's really easy to add on Moore If if you've got a bigger a bigger place what's GonNa be what's going to happen. Is You know over the years you're gonNA start seeing more and more devices prices in more places in your home so whether that's sensors in your basement to look for water or cameras outside your home or four speakers for the you know for the backyard our connectivity demands are just. GonNa keep increasing and so over the years what we'll see is likely people adding more and more or euros to be able to expand coverage more places. How many are in your home. I live in San Francisco so I've got three. That's more than adequate for for our Condo but you know I've got friends and family with five six ten Eros in some of their homes all right nick weaver here in Seattle at the Amazon event. Everything to know about the Galaxy Note 10 (The Daily Charge, 8/8/2019)
"Today on the daily charge you knew it was coming an obligation to the masses today. We're talking all about the galaxy note. Good morning and cassisi nets daily charge. It's thursday august eighth. I'm joanie salesman and i'm just all court sharia tip. Let's take a look at today's stories last night. Samsung unveiled not one but two big new phones the galaxy note ten and the note ten plus range from nine hundred in forty nine dollars to one thousand three hundred ninety nine dollars. We've got fancy prison. Medic backings gesture controls in the silence four year cameras and an amped a partnership with microsoft jessica shara you right there for all these announcements. What's the single biggest takeaway for me. I think the biggest thing is instead of just just one bigger phone. They actually came out with a phone with two models. This year and one of them is smaller and cheaper than last year's note nine which is a big change. Nobody's really going long smaller anymore. They're just going bigger and bigger yeah. Absolutely i agree. That is the most significant difference for samsung. What you're doing is you're taking what was the pinnacle of its line. You're breaking it into two parts and there are actually you could say that they're sort of devaluing that note for the longest time it stood as the best of the best that that samsung can offer in the year the best specs the best everything and now there's this lighter version <hes> presumably for people who have always wanted to know but didn't want to i have the large screen or maybe didn't pay that sky high price so samsung's creating options there are also creating different price points and it's just a really interesting shift in that strategy edgy one thing you won't be seeing on the notes your beloved headphone jack not only a headphone jack missing from the new notes but the micro s._d. Is gone for the smaller phones to jessica. Why is samsung taking away all our things yeah. I mean that's really controversy all for the longest time. Samsung has been the hold out the major holdout when these headphone jacks acts are being removed. Remember apple said that courage to do this. There is a shift definitely. You're all courageous. Yes definitely there's a shift in in what we're using tillerson to phone so samsung has said that fewer people are using the headphone jack instead. You'll be using that u._c. You s._b._c. port. If you want wired wired headphone <hes> or you might make the jump and go into <hes> the wireless bluetooth headsets and samsung will be happy to sell you that as well so they said that i think it was like seventy percent of set in the seventy percentage of galaxy s. note users. Don't even use the headphone jack anyway. Most people are using bluetooth yeah but this is annoying for people who have invested in wired headphones pray. They prefer for various reasons. Maybe they don't want to charge it up. Maybe they want something. That will just work with any device. Maybe they spent a lot of money on something really good and they love it but if you do that now you'll have to use a dangle. There is a pair of headphones that come in the box but there's no dangle. If you want a samsung dangle you have to pay ten dollars for it but last night i did go round and i tested four different dangles right with the no ten plus list and they all worked on the same video so i don't think that you're gonna see a lot of problems there. You don't have to bite exclusively from samsung and lastly five g. Super fast networks are it's still out of reach for almost everybody but samsung has two phones now ready for five g. now with the galaxy note ten plus five jeep shara. What do consumers need to know about this phone. Yeah i mean basically it's a mess in terms of in terms of how five going to work so what we saw with the galaxy s. ten five g. was it would only tap into the super super fast millimeter wave networks so these are the ones that doesn't travel very far. If there's a tree in the way the signal wig blocked you'd be trees exactly <hes> but it's what we're seeing rolled out in cities like chicago and a new york and there's another kind of flavor of six six five gee that's going to be ruled out more broadly and it can go farther distances. It doesn't have a lot of the problems more stable but it's just not as fast so that's what a._t. Eighteen t and t mobile their broader networks are going to be so like next year. They say they're going to be nationwide with five g. because when they can they turn this on you can basically five asia anywhere. They've just been waiting for a phone to work with it. They issue is there wasn't a modem that worked with it yeah so the rises going to get this phone. I the note ten plus. I five g. They're gonna use an older modem and it'll still tap into the super fast network that they have a._t. And t. and t. mobile are using version with the new modem and it it can tap into the faster networks but for some reason it's not going to so for a._t. And t. and t. mobile if you buy this device you're going to be able to have much broader coverage but you're not going to get the super fast speeds and we don't really know why that is at this point because the modem can support it so who knows but basically it's basically it's super confusing right that sounds about as clear as five jazz generally. I mean next year probably with like the galaxy s. eleven eleven year. You're gonna have a phone that can support all of the variations of five g. So if you really want gee if you want a phone that can last you for several years. I just wait for the daily charge on joni salesman. I'm jessica awkward name charts again. Thanks for listening.

"Four hundred forty nine dollars that was per session. So there were four sessions over the course of the weekend in each session, a maximum number of twelve hundred people was allowed in so that's pretty exclusive access, and I even remember when we are walking around. Nobody like the lineups were like, maybe ten minutes at the most for someone to experience something from a brand you could really get up close and personal. And I think they're real a couple of payoffs for those prices because they are they are quite high. Yeah. But the swag bag number one. You got almost double the amount in value in this wag if not more so paid ninety nine it was like one seventy nine worth evalu- view paid to forty nine. And it was like four forty nine four four four forty nine was like nine hundred and something so you definitely got that back. And then if you did get those masterclass tickets one thing that I was kind of surprised by when you talk about that intimacy there how many chairs were there. I'd say seventy seventy s chairs while I can tell you in comparison to founder made for example, when we sat in the crowd, and it was like who to Catan and Leandra Medine. It was like three hundred was there were so many people. So it really felt like you were in like classroom or university. Lurch? There we were in the front row cater each and every time, but I did talk to somebody about their swag. Okay. I'm they told me that they got a lipstick from a high end brand. She said it was really good. And she loved the color. The scott. And she also said that the were there was a Marc Jacobs do drop highlighter in there. So they weren't like skipping on samples. It was like full-size. Great brand wanna try. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. If you guys went, please, let us know what you got in your swag, very curious because we haven't seen you can d- on Instagram at breaking Beatty podcast or in our chat room. Let us know. Okay. So let's start with the opening media party on Friday night, where we got to check out all the installations before the crowds got their pink. Goodness. 'cause we got the pictures. Yes. So there was this was kind of VIP party for media as well. As brand VIP guests, you get there you arrive, and we had no idea what to expect right? This is the inaugural Sephora. So this is a big deal. And so when you get there you walk in there is a garden a garden party. First thing you see for it's it's like after dark, so there's like neon signs everywhere. And there's a picket fence around the garden the fake grass everywhere, which I love, by the way, like Greengrass wall everything downtown LA. It was like you're on a movie side kind of when you walked in. But it's garden and first thing you, see like, the crowds part, and it's just a skyscraper jar of Lemaire cream. My mind was blown like it could have been like you said before like eight of you stocked on top of the heights like when King Kong reaches for. His Lemaire businesses jar. It was just so impressive. And I think you and I have been to a lot of events. And so it's it's really unusual to see something that blows you away right out of the gate at certainly Bumi away. I was like, wait a minute. I need to picture of this. It's insane. And tell them about what was inside. Yeah. You could go inside. And it was like you basically stepped into the bubble of Lemaire and inside they had a wall stacked with jars of Lamar oversized jars and each jar could hold a pound of their famous cream, and there was probably over one hundred jars I don't even know it went up the whole vertical length of the wall, and the girl that was working in there said if each of these jars was actually filled with cream the wall value would be one million dollars. They called it the million dollar wall of so fun. And then so you go back side, and there are like drag us away from the Lemaire off to the next photo op and like samples ample all over my hands. And then you go at side and there's like booth all around. One side and they're just beautiful..

"Which is definitely not something that can be said for most us bc audio accessories they work with my mac book perot they're just a standard is far as us bc audio goes the are a standard set of headphones which automatically puts them way above any other pair that i've seen out there that half the reviews say they don't work with various devices that's just a good sign from the start and it turns out that you know they a pretty big drivers for little ear buds they sound good they're made really well and so i kinda say if you're not gonna go all in on bluetooth and you don't like the unsightly don goal hanging down from your phone to plug in your old headphones yeah why not give these a look or essential also makes a pair with all the same features for forty nine dollars with kind of just standard drivers in no no fancy stuff which may be a bit more palatable for more people but i was just happy to see a pair of headphones that are used b c standardized and it just turns out that it was essential that did it well yeah i i find the main takeaway here for me is that we may have reached a point where all or at least most usb see headphones are just cross compatible with every other eu spc product flee i hope so i think it was just a an early standards issue like the hcc the pair should headphones that ship in the box with the you eleven that those didn't work with a lot of other products.
