Lord Conrad Black Claims in New Article No Evidence Nixon Committed Crime

"Talk about the incident in history that made called bernstein undeservedly famous Your latest piece with a wonderful title from the editors at american greatness is fifty years of deep state propaganda. And it has to do with the the nixon debacle and the watergate scandal. You met president nixon after he left office. You've got to know him. You wrote a superlative work on the man. Can we start with the basics. How how is it that he has gone down in conventional wisdom as the crook. Tricky dicky win as you have pointed out in your book in latest article and i just summarize it and tell me if i i'm i'm passing you ineffectively. There is no evidence that he actually committed a crime with those payments. You know there never has been and Ever tried because he wasn't well enough to face trial but Or or do you know to go and give evidence at trial. He got a pardon so he wasn't then be tried and sell that The fact is that there isn't it. I haven't the inconvenient fact about this whole Watergate business that Ah it. There is no evidence. Nixon committed a crime. Some people in his entourage that there's no better but they did not allege that mr nixon told them not to basically perjury charges in getting and obstruction of justice but none of them alleged that the nixon told them to do and And and so. The whole thing rests on did his approval of payments to watergate thin than some some of the which did that constitute obstruction of justice and all the closest we have is powered hunt as whereas it just tragically died in a plane crash near the number of young children and nixon said we'll give him give him the money he wants but he didn't say fung as he he's quieter wise under oath or anything like that. He never said anything like that. There's never been one shred of evidence that that's what nixon authorized payments for and he always alleged and there's some of the tapes that the that he specifically said they've got to be able to pay their lawyers and feed their families and so we'll we'll give the money for that. "John able to catch up today. And i know we're going to be speaking about the future of human experience when it comes to the evolution of ai. I've liked to win this series. Start with where things are starting to roll forward already today. In different experts have different opinions. You have very unique of your own. I know you can think longer term but when you think about a as of now in terms of how it's altering how we live. What normal is what do you think of the most significant bits. They're already i'm first of all. I'm really glad that you asked that a lot of people. Think of as something. That's a future thing that might or might not happen whereas artificial intelligence of software techniques that we've had for decades and so it really is important but we're talking about the distant future to think about while japan what you mean Passed so we really do have to look at the last fifty years on how we've been altered already by digital technology. Now one of the tricks you may have noticed just slide. It sideways into digital technology from a and that's because a lot of the conversations that definitions the arguments people get into around the term. Ai so if what you mean by a i is something. That's exactly like a person than i would. Basically argued at length with us that you will never have that exactly traduced but something. That isn't a person you know a lot of what it is to be. Human is the set of constraints that we have as apes right. And that alters how can learn what we can proceed what actions were capable of some time rate at which able to respond since like that. Okay so you're not gonna get that something that you On is just not like that. But if what you mean what i mean when i talk about artificial intelligence as the subset of all intelligent things which somebody's made intentionally right. It's an artifact so talents modified artifacts not not not rocket science. But you'd be surprised. How much will argue with that.

Permission to Doubt: Has God Failed You With Author Michal Brown

"I want to keep talking about this book. Has god failed. You a lotta time. You hear people a lot of times. You hear people say things like that that they just turned off. something happened. And it's heartbreaking. Because you realize that i realized that god really is your answer and it just breaks my heart that people have had these experiences that pushed them away from the very source. That would help them. So what do we say to people. When in your book has got failed you what do you say. I have a chapter called permission to doubt which is based on a verse in jude that never hear preached on have mercy on those who doubt saying. It's okay to come with your questions. It's okay to be honest. I wrote a whole commentary on job. And i still some of the wisdom from that what we learned from job. How job challenged god. But he challenged because he was a man of faith any felt. It's not supposed to be like this. And what we lay out in the book is the concerns the burdens you have got agrees with many of them. You're writing feelings. What god himself is grieved over these things which leads to the questionable wisely act immediately wasn't it wasn't bring about change really so we we unpack that in the book we go through. Wi prayers can be unanswered. But what god can be doing through it and how we can know the truth of god in the midst of it. We go through some of our wrong sociology. Sometimes it's that. God fail this but we had a wrong siale aji a superficial theology of just push button and everything goes well. Now that you're a believer just pray and every prayers answered and prosper. Sometimes it's a wrong theology that sets us up for disappointment so we address that in the book deal with the problem of evil. And how do we sort that out. How can you be so much evil and pain and suffering in the world of all good all knowing all powerful god created the world deal with those issues and then the objections to the god of the bible that he's genocidal that he's misogynistic that he's he's megan maniac that he's bigoted and transphobic and homophobic. What about the god of the bible. We tackle all the questions. And here's the thing is it's been almost fifty years in the lord. The end of this year will be fifty years that these are questions people ask and you think about it you gotta work discovered hate gays has got one oppress women. How do we sort this out. The amazing thing is the dp you get. The more you find answers on their goal ultimately is to get people to look at the

Food Addiction Is Solvable

"I'm excited to talk to you. Because we're going to a place where people are trying to lose the quarantine fifteen kind of eating. Whatever over the lockdown months and people's relationship with food right now is probably at a very pivotal moment. So one thing as someone who like. I've struggled both with weight. Probably most of my life and my relationship with food and i also struggled with the idea of food addiction as it feels impossible to be addicted to something that your body needs and you talk about this in your book hook. Yes so being addicted to food was a really good thing for most of our existence or forebears putting on body. Fat was a really good thing because in enabled our brains to grow and able to speak with your hard times and have more offspring which is kind of what life is all about right but the problem is the nature of our food was changed so dramatically by the food companies in the last fifty years. That suddenly what was really good for us became really problematic. How would you define addiction. And why food can be addictive despite us having to eat to live. I spent time with evolutionary biologists for this book because it was really kind of trying to figure out is is addiction. Really kind of the right word. And is it really fair to compare you. Twinkies and oreo cookies was cigarettes and alcohol and even some drugs and so spending time though with these biologists i came full circle. And now i'm convinced at anyway. Food products are even more problematic. There is some precedents to the food. Industry called the tobacco industry for decades. It vehemently denied that smoking was addictive. Writer put all scientists who work on added. It's it's it's lobbyists and it stops your officials in its cetera. Well in two thousand something really fascinating happened. Which is at philip. Morris completely flipped around and said okay. You've got us. Smoking is in fact addictive with throwing in the towel on that. What was so interesting about the for me. Is that philip. Morris at the time was also the single largest manufacturer of processed food through its purchase of the old company general foods and then craft and then nabisco which made oreo cookies and that's same year. The ceo of the company was asked to define addiction in some legal proceedings. His well

The 1914 Visit That Changed Australia

"So do australians have a show really enthusiasm for scientists and does it. Matter will consider a book based on a visit over one hundred years ago when three shiploads of scientists from the british association here and thousands turned out. It was like the beatles. Fifty years later professor linnet. Russell is director of indigenous studies at monash and book is called a trip to the dominions. The scientific event that changed australia net russell. I'm fascinated to hear that. The british association advancement of science which is similar to the one. We used to have an aesthetic or dan's s. And of course the triple. As in america which is still going strong is one hundred ninety now and was just before the first world war nineteen fourteen. I think it was three phipps and one hundred seventy. Five scholars came out to australia for war. What was the purpose. What was the plan. There's a couple of things that the federal government really wanted to do. The first thing was they wanted to showcase australian science so they were keen to bring these scholars almost overwhelmingly min to australia. So that they could show off. Innocence thou- early development of science and they were very very excited about the opportunity it had been talked about for several decades prior to the actual nine hundred fourteen meeting because they had in the nineteenth century thought about whether or not they could get to australia and in fact went to south africa. And the thing that really amazed me as well beyond the scale with the ships and all the rest of it is that when the various scholars from britain arrived they had public events to which thousands turned up even then. It is absolutely astonishing. If you look in the back of the report there are literally thousands upon thousands of names and these are sort of just ordinary everyday people their mechanics for many palms and their schoolteachers from essendon and from someone from q. And this is the melbourne part. And they've got just so many average people who obviously had a great interest in science and we're very cain to come in here from the world's greatest scientists

Mapped President & CEO, Shaun Cooley, Discusses His Company's Creation Story

"This is the creation story of napped. Some mapped is a data infrastructure platform. We bring together all the people places and things instead of commercial industrial environments And so if you think of sort of a stack inside of one of these commercial or industrial environments you've got the devices that are doing things inside the environments you know think of the h back controllers and the lighting controllers you know in a in a manufacturing floor you've got robotic arms and conveyor belts and other sort of process automation pieces the next layer up Tends to be a network infrastructure the network infrastructure brings those pieces together On an ip network so they can communicate with each other but the pieces tended to still be a sort of bespoke right the piece of equipment that were installed by system integrator at some point over the last fifty years you know using whatever the latest bag of tools and techniques were and now you know the companies that own many many buildings or many retail stores or many data centers or many factories are trying to get data across their entire environments. Even though these things are all ip connected they tend to be from different vendors. Installed by a different system integrator is different names functioning just slightly different right because the goal at the time that they were installed was to operate out environment not to provide a single business. Intelligence layer For the company And so now that there's an ip connected we go in and we'd build on top of that. The data infrastructure that sits on top of that network structure. And so you can think of it as the the missing piece between sort of the raw network and the applications and business intelligence that you're trying to trying to extract from your operations

"Seven conclusion the coolest greater equality. Greg greater rights for lgbt bt. People like many others is served by having a white white area of free speech and any limits on listen quite extreme cases. Free speech means nothing if it doesn't include the rise of people with whom i disagree so i'm open to people criticizing me. That's their right like even do so in quite strong robust language providing the inside bottom so make false damaging allegations. That's why are a number of occasions. I have defended christian street preaches who have spoken out against homosexuality but they haven't been threatening or abusive just expressed the point of view. And i believe their right but he quickly. i don't believe they should be prosecuted as criminals. We have to challenge them protest against them. Show why they're wrong but criminalization is a step too far. Which side of the line would would you put insulting. There is no right in human rights law to not be insulted or not be offended the right to make strong rebuffs criticisms to ridicule sata other points of view that is perfectly just must in a free society. I've is involved with the national second society in a campaign to remove the insult close from the public order. Act nineteen ninety-six. We argued that insult was too low threshold to justify a criminal offense. We got together with a very broad coalition including seven. Pays like admittedly. David davis with whom i do not normally agree and successfully persuaded the government to repeal the insult close from the public order. Act now that was a very significant victory for free speech. We followed up that success with a further success. A short time afterwards against a government bill that sought to penalize causing nuisance or annoyance. We said these were vague. Subjective terms that could be open to very wide abuse an- again we persuaded the government to drop those clauses and finally pizza. What would you say. The main obstacles that remain to achieving full. Lgbt plus collapsed in britain. Today we have made great progress here in britain but we should never forget that right up until nineteen ninety. Nine britain had by volume the largest number of anti lgbt plus laws of any country in the world. Some of them dating back centuries yet. Fourteen years later with the legalization of same sex marriage and twenty thirteen britain had some of the best lows. That is a phenomenally successful lower phone campaign but there are still issues five win. We're still battling to secure a ban on l. gb plus conversion therapy to reform agenda vacation. Act to give trans people right to self. Ide- buys touched declaration which exist in many other countries and of course to secure lgbt plus inclusive education in schools with no exemptions opt-outs for faith organizations. And all these three issues. It is religious organizations that are kicking back trying to block progress. The number one focus of resistance to lgbt plus rights in britain and around the world is organized religion. The good news is that religion.

The Truth About Salt With Dr. James DiNicolantonio

"Let's talk about salt. Why it was demonized. Why it's so important for our health. It was originally demonized just due to blood pressure and very similarly there were scientists back in the nineteen fifties demonizing salts similar to how we demonize saturated fat they would look correlations to wear certain populations that consumed a higher amount. It was correlated that you know high salt intake may increase blood pressure. So actually it was a it was a clinical study looking at six populations but insult came out in the you know mapsi hunt. Basically fifty years later looked at fifty two countries and when you eliminated the floor on primal basically you know population that were consuming very very low. Nounce you actually had a drop in blood pressure salt intake increase so they were only basically. The studies were short studies looking at a limited amount of populations trying to find a correlation. And really that. That's where most of our guidance comes from because all our nutritional guidance stems from the nineteen seventies in basically were. This was before you had systematic reviews and meta analyses extra clinical studies in in those dietary goals that came out in nineteen seventy seven and then the first dietary guidelines in nineteen eighty. They started recommending. Low-sulphur everyone a low saturated fat low total fat high amount of carbohydrate intakes. So everything really stems from there and that's really were basically we went wrong so these were basically large epidemiological studies looking at kind of surveys. What people were consuming is that correct and also obviously which those studies can show correlation. But they can't show a direct causation. There were just hypothesis that were brought about and sometimes hypothesis when when scientists say them enough they no longer become hypothesis. They become you know scientific truth. I guess you could say but ultimately we didn't really have true interventional studies that were demonstrating that actually was causation exempt. I mean even worse to is. They were cherry picking the population. You're looking at it. Same thing happened with saturated fat. They cherry picked the six countries. Study in even though there were a total of twenty. Three countries So when you add it. All the countries back there was no increase in heart disease with saturated fat in same thing with salt when you added fifty countries back. You didn't see that rise in blood pressure with higher salt

"You also caught up with a new music doc. That goes into limited release this weekend. It's edgar reitz. The sparks brothers sparks is a music duo. Brothers ron and russell mail. They formed in nineteen sixty seven. Put out twenty five studio albums released between seventy one and twenty twenty. The documentary describes them as your favourite bands. favourite band. Completely new to me. Were you familiar with sparks before this. Doc adam would you think of it. Well i do want to clarify what you just said you said completely new to you. Were they truly completely new to you just as they were to me meaning before. This documentary came out before you maybe saw anything about it online. Had you ever heard of sparks or anybody referred to as the sparks brothers or ron and russell nail. Not until they were mentioned as a subject of edgar rightback. Yeah exactly so you watch this film. And i think maybe part of the measure of success in terms of whether or not right accomplish what he was trying to accomplish and whether or not. It's a good documentary. You have to answer. that question. does a band that. I've never even heard of really warrant a documentary and justify the time i'm going to put into it. And by the end you're legitimately wondering how nobody has made a movie about them before. And you're you're questioning your validity as a music fan as an arts connoisseur. You are not questioning. And i'd say even after about fifteen minutes you're not questioning their validity as artists because of the music because of the story or both both are. That's the thing you can't you can't separate them the tagline on the website. You see if you places says fifty years twenty five albums three hundred and forty five songs unlimited genius

"Jordan heath. This is the big story. Sarah fox is the bbc investigative reporter for our friends at the narwhal. Sarah hi how are you doing. I'm doing really well. how about you. i'm well thanks ya do. You want to explain as we get started for people who don't live anywhere near bc. And i've never seen it. What is old growth forest. Exactly and What does it look like sure. So old growth forest. There's kind of the the official definition. And then there's a y you think of when you hear the words old growth for us so the official definition is that on the coast where where the growing season is longer in tends to be wetter. That trees that are older than two hundred and fifty years are considered to be old growth in other parts of the province. It's trees that are one hundred and forty years old. But i think when when people think of old growth imagine those kind of icon ick photographs of these enormous cedar. Douglas fir trees that are as tall. Skyscrapers in is wide as a boss. The the old growth forest because the trees are so large the kind of the light filters through them in a different way they're draped in mosses and lichens and just kind of fallen logs. Over centuries have become nurse logs for for other trees but the the will growth force are much more than the trees. Of course there. Hot spots for bio-diversity their home to all kinds of species including a species at risk of extinction that to depend on these forests on the interior of b. species like a caribou on the south west mainland part of bc. We've got the spotted owl here on the island and other areas. We've got the marbled murrelet bird and of course these old forests are huge stores of carbon and they filter water. They have many many environmental

"I've started with all my conversations rather inevitably asking how the time has been for for you as the photographer how this has affected you pass with your photography not being able to travel so freely to make your work and you definitely be somebody else that question because you'll used to having a possible to your hand. Yeah i think. I'm i think you forget as a working photographer. Just how many miles you do. And how important traveling is Just becomes part of your life so you know sunny with me it. You have to make a decision or gone to engage with them. Covert and trying should stories and the like or going to take on an enforced break Try and do something else. phila- to fill in the time. So for me. It was enough to fifty years. It was a chance to stay at home. Spend some family time and then try and put a book together because these things are very time consuming the best of times During the pandemic it's a book together. An exhibition Was especially difficult. Avi made any personal projects about the pandemic solo or was this time to take stock and work on projects like this instead. I haven't done anything on the pandemic. I mean In the early days for documentary photographers. There was very little access now. The government the usual fear of For sphere of access Kick deyan and everyone was terrified of leading film crews and photographers in two areas. Send the end you kind of just think. Well there's no point in doing this Especially as there were some very good work being done in america where they Whether photographers have much more on this but looking ahead. I know it seems a little bit early to be entirely confident but there are some green shoots there are some noise is being made about you know from galleries reopening worldwide and shows and new opportunities. How do you feel personally about this time. Going forward and i say this you know with the sense of trepidation and touching would every single time. I'd an idea moderate. I think for the first time in my career i One of the things. I've been doing as has been mentoring. One person in particular earned an a couple of others and normally. When i've been you know when asked this question on a regular basis and it's always it's fine you've got to be optimistic. Photojournalism is alive and well and it's wonderful etcetera etcetera. But trying to help. These youngsters has really brought home to me about how difficult it is and how the industry such as it is has changed out of all recognition. we're definitely living in the instagram generation. Where these young kids are out there and they're putting the living their life online and putting the pictures out that all the time and some of the images of really really good but it always comes down to the bottom line. How Do You Measure Accuracy in Speech Recognition?

"Do you mean when you say accuracy when it comes to speech recognition. So that's a really really good question. How do we measure that when we talk about accuracy we're talking about. How many words correct did the system get so. We call this word race so often. It's you know the smaller. The number the more accurate system or we can talk in terms of accuracy. The higher the number the more accurate unperformed system is on what happens is as children get younger. The systems that have been on adult data. They have been modeling language adult behaviors. They work reasonably well for amateur ten-year-old nine ten ten twelve the beginning to sound like little adults now we all know that not all kids are like some kids take a little more development maturing but by the whole when they start getting a little bit older and they start looking adults. The system start form. Well what happens when children younger. What you see is the performance. The accuracy error rates of how many mistakes the system gets starts to die right. There's two different types of areas we talk and when you look at it is simply that the system isn't hearing the difference between a child and adult speech or is it in the language interpreting so sometimes when you talk to a voice assistant how you may be asking for something way out there that the system is no idea. So is able to transcribe what you said but it just can't match what you said to any reasonable response you get account response gone. I can't help you right now. I don't know that answer. Canned responses are quite a thing in speech recognition league. We're all aware of but there's another type of problem that exists is that when people with accents or dialects that are not served by these speech recognition systems. That you're starting to see some acoustically. It actually can't even transcribe that. I'm really see that problem when it comes to kids too. We like to think much more as if you're trying to deal with a system to understand a fifty year old male at a four year old girl you can start to see how different the child's speeches their language behaviors whether you're also trying to do for the pheromone your effectively boiling the ocean. You know it's going to work for some courts better than others and that can be age profiles. It can be in language dialects. And that's where we start to see bias so the system. Not performing for certain demographics as well as it does for others and dash can have very profound effects

Like so I kinda am looking forward to more nine. Oh, two, one. Oh, because I know it can't get more emotionally draining than this and like more emotionally lacerating than this. So. Yeah. I I'm looking forward to getting back to it. Eventually but Yeah. I'm kind of glass Scott's debt. I'll be honest with you. I thought he was a drain on the show. Well, the problem Chris will become back. It will still be season one and Scott. Designed, Scott will be around, but now I'm how Scott resurfaced. I've seen him leave the party I don't care if I. See. You know pictures from the party to cloning. WAY FIGHTERS THAT'S OKLAHOMA TECHNOLOGY Andrew. Juban. Yeah. Man You know it's funny. Is like rarely does eighteen-year-old hype hold up? And I'm here to say that this time Steve's eight, you did it. this episode as it is was quite something. This whole melrose to ano journey has been quite something. You know when we started this at the start of all this health scape for shit existence that we have. Now, it was like you know, here's something that like you know we can just put out for folks and whatnot, but I did not realize that this was also a project for us. So I have to thank the three of you for going along with this also. Because it really sort of with all of this. And going for him. So super psyched to bring it back on Patriot. I believe Steve. Will probably have been the winner here in the nine oh two one. Oh, melrose place wars. Mel Rotea one. Oh, but I'm also looking forward to getting back to melrose place just because the fucking insanity there was just about to hit. Before we had to sign off. So yeah, I'm excited for the whole thing and I'm stoked that so many folks out there were able to jump on board with this and have a good time with us too. That's absolutely true. Yeah. I want to thank everybody for sticking around and going on I. It's been fun watching people on twitter like Oh, this show sucks, oh, what the fuck like three weeks later billy is such an asshole what the fuck is problem. Is really kind of funny to watch all that sort of sort of. Thank you, guys. For always supporting us in general where we're about to do our five hundred episode and a couple of tomorrow, actually record it So it's just amazing to watch all you very kind folks. Come along with us during these journeys especially during the darkest time. So. Yeah. We're. Then there's going to be brand new content each and every week on the we hate movies feed for the foreseeable future. That's why we're kind of needing to sort of shift gears here. "I gotTa say, he does ask the great question though like why are you like the whole thing starts with him being like, why are you bothering with tribute discuss like, why do you give a shit? Well, it's totally true I. Mean, the only reason they give a shit is because he's fucking dead hundred percent what the fifteen readers you have come. To know about this, are you fucking nuts? It's David's line. He goes. No one gave a rat's ass about Scott he died while the thing is like once you do this article in the newspaper, Andrea and Brandon. My get into an even better school. Thank you Scott. Right after this dead kid profile Harvard is GonNa, come in and. One of his big lines, years, skulls by best friend and I dropped him because he's not cool. Steve or Kelly. Are Donna alike, I duNno. Like deadlocked that. Cool. Dude. Like just whatever I don't know I. Also wouldn't that alienate you from them immediately, like immediately was he embarrassed by the way. The whole gag here is he's he's going on this huge diatribe against shit about Scott, until he died, but the MIC Zahn on. Mike Hot mic and whatever brandon's Mike. I don't care man. Scotus. Gen Z. Coming back dude. Cowabunga, it is kind of an awesome like. And I'm glad the whole school county. It is Kinda true like, oh. Yeah. All those all those fake losers be modulated curly-haired Steve Sanders fuck back. Of and like he walks out of the booth and everyone's kind of looking at them and I'm like this, is there any teachers at the school somebody degree counselor? Mr Silver, why don't you come on just come on route with me for a minute or two? Totally. Well, David, you clearly a problem. Let's go now. David's gotTa go join his father out on the road in the woods forever now because after I, did this I would never come back to this school I'm sorry. Oh, well, the woods with Scotts Valley. Yes. No. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. I agree I. It's Kinda hard to come back from this. You know what sucked though was I was totally anticipated because like the kids the whole schools gathering around the booth and everything, and then David walks out, i. was like here comes a fucking slow clap and they didn't do it. It's actually sort of weird. It's like the whole gang sort of descends on him and like you know what David Basically said, we're all selfish pieces of shit, but you know what? What? Pretty cool. Well, they're like you know what? Man Next time somebody asks you how you're feeling. You don't have to say fine. Just really feeling except for Steve, sanders? Because I don't care about nothing. You can ask the rest of us or you have him ride the rails with Conrad and learn about the different symbols for where there's good vittles when there's bad ones. Right. Oh farmers daughter pretty also, I would love I love. The idea of someone's like walking by like, oh, how's it going and then you're just like actually it's terror. Our like I don't think you'd find now some guy going to his car the other day in this parking, lot I live in. Yes. You live in an apartment. I live in a parking lot and this dude, going to his car was like, Hey, how's it going and I was like Oh, you're already in your car. It's legitimate. Ask especially, arkie lot passing. That's what I was getting at it is is a is a phony fucking line come on. You know what's so this all ends with a David is going to do something with the new capsule for Nineteen, ninety-one now. I I was genuinely captured by this moment when he gets something from Pam scanlon because I was like. It's GonNa, be something that tie them together, but it could not possibly be that stupid. fucking addy was. No Way, it's that stupid. Boy was your face. Red. Cabbage. He goes back to Pam and they have a moment where I keep want you to have it, which is kind of a nice end for this horrible character, but she's grieving you get it. He. Also, he gives her a tape of all of that. Presumably the edited Scott Footage and he's he's actually he's like you know, hey, here's this tape. I told you about you probably don't WanNa watch it right away. But when you're ready, this tape will be there for you. Kind of a thing David not. She's not asking you for money. She she shaking you down David. David, it's not actually a true thing that says, the best friend needs to chip in ten percent for the funeral cost. If you're using 'cause you can count the gas you know, and she's got a paper it. Forty cents, a Mile David. Yes. So now we're we're all at school and we're we're dig new time capsule and Donna's idea by this is the Donaldson I have a really special idea, which is nice. It's very nice ending. Everyone's throwing something into the thing Andrea throws in the newspaper that has Scott's obituary in it, and also on floppy disk, which he says, we'll probably a little bit outdated in fifty years. Twenty one minutes. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Good luck getting that newspaper load. I. Love Steve. Sanders Sheep as contribution, a corvette keychain. What the fuck and get something else to do this. fucking. Car Your jacket off about Oh. Cool. And fifty years a keychain. How well I had three things in my pocket a corvette. He chain a little baggy of coke and a hundred thousand dollars in cash. Roy. Only one of them is going in this time capsule. All right. I'll throw my coke razor in there to. Listen what ninety one? Yeah. Yeah. So it's fifty years Yeah. So in twenty forty, one guys we can, we can dig that up. Oh, cool. I. Think taking up and celebrate Scott's gambling if we're in two, thousand, forty, one if we start. Pick me to up next year. You'll be like season for at that point. So. Exactly. Yeah. Whatever of everybody rented donates Lycra SPANDEX, Dylan donate surfboard wax. It's just hilarious. Don is like panics. The Minnesota twins t-shirt own. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. So useless like. A T. shirt and a fucking kitchenaid. Wow Zor. Well I, mean I don't know it sounds kind of mean, but like all time capsules are worthless, that's a good point and someone's putting in anything of value in time. It's something that denotes the time a soda twin. Tori ABCD if you're. GonNa put in anything. You've got this at school and it comes down to the end of the world. This is the Prequel the knowing. Who Scott Scanlon was cuts. Oh it turned out Scott. Scanlon was nobody as is the fifth letter of the language a? Scanlon was an alien. The last thing put in there, of course is David. He reveals its Scott's. Callahan. It should be his Lakers cap. That's what we remembered. Fondly, for Faulk, like I'm sorry, he took this vacation and left basketball behind for the RODEO or whatever. That would make you remember Scott Away from this episode. Exactly. This episode, the last Hattie before he killed himself, you put the gun in their man, if Conrad apart with it. A lock of Conrad's bald head hair. That's what's left of Scott. And then only one thing left, and it's they. They all get sparklers out and it's like it's like fourth of July, which was one of Scott's favorite holidays even though Scotland all the holidays. God, it so says. Maybe in like twenty, forty, one clone Scott. Oh, that's a good idea, and this was Doug Emerson's retirement from acting never act again. That's right. He joined the I believe he became an air force person. I think he thought like you couldn't go onto another role if you die I died in TV and movies. Well. That's it for me. A, that is the end of that episode For us? Yes. That it. Wants for Scott Man. Something, for Scott, yeah MC Hammer. Can. I just point out how lame. It is. Really love the fourth of July that one. Yeah. Well, that sucks. That's what gets a cowboy hat and a fucking bullet, gut? That's true. It's a prerequisite to be for the July favorite holiday. Okay. Now, I can murder mice. Atta. "The transformers. David vs warriors. That's why this is deleted streaming, they used to Hasbro name but. That's probably it. Might. Be Right. Please robot toy please take. Robot card. Whatever he freaks out honor and she like he's I can't do all this by myself. You're pushing too hard. She loses it. She's a fucking. Anyway, there is some insane details in here though like she's rummaging through this box shit, and she's like Oh David Look at. That one fourth of July. You remember that oh? Of course, Scott loved all holidays and then she's like Oh and here you go. David Scott would've wanted you to have this? It's his Christmas stocking. Ladies fucking Jewish. What is he going to do with a Christmas stocking? Brought to this House David. I'll tell you what to do with that Christmas stocking. You put it on your door in college when you got away Oh. Yeah. There you go. All this is going into garbage. Meanwhile. Brandon has to get this interview with David. Silver. That's kind of the thrust of the second half of the episode. He's trying to he's trying to. Again like you don't need this, you really don't like just. Like Andrea again, always talking about it looks like it's the fucking post going out. It's a fucking. Brandon, I'm thinking about putting your article about Scott Right next to what we're going to get for lunch. The next week. Do you think the best place for it. Brandon of winning the story. Next to the fucking cafeteria menu scandal story we have going. So like there's a lot of David. Blows. Up On don at least twice. Treats her like shit in this episode, and she's just like she finally snaps back like Hey, I know you're going through some shit, but I'm the only one that is the cares about you and like really Blah Blah Blah I. got everyone of that party what the fuck is a yeah I. Guess you're right. And then he winds up watching a video of Scott that he took which is cut a devastating to look at. It's horrible I think. Like. There's a sequence where David is walking down the hallway. Any stopped like every second by somebody and one of them is this teacher vice principal whatever this fucking dude is. WHO's like? Hey, man. I got sort of volunteer to edit this footage. We need this shit from the fucking time capsule ceremony like cut and ready to go, and he's like, no, no. No, you know. I'll do it or whatever. So then yeah, he's in the fucking computer lab like where their friendship blossomed in highschool where he met Dylan McKay. Just. Looking through all this footage David is throwing himself into his work. That's the right move. Just. One thing after the end of when he blows up. Mrs Scanlon when she's like take his fucking Christmas stocking and his transformers he goes. Scott accidentally shot himself in the stomach because he liked to play with guns and she liked fucking loses it and runs out of the whole thing and The best part about is the end of the scene where he's like a scanlon business scanlon come. They're still in the same house music scaling get back here. Returns around and he like picks up Scott's bed and shakes it angrily like that was the MU. I do. Quite a way that was the first time that bet ever shook. Fish. Well, the only time before they'd even came close was the vibration of the gun shot. Do you think they still got that gun the well, what a tragedy we lost our beloved, Scotty? We still have you MR nine millimeter. I think fucking Connie took that with the out to the coast duties, GonNa fucking. Incident well, it took. I saw it can take me in Casey can't find vittles on a night. You know he can hold somebody up with. Always living in the woods. Yeah. Yeah. Of course. In Society, if you do such a thing instead of saying like took my beloved Sunny Villa to my beloved bullet. wasted. Bullets called around pad. dammit. Ham. It's expensive. Okay. It's almost two dollars. Let's are going up in value. So. Like, yeah. It's kind of we're getting towards the end here and Brandon's been fucking harping on this article. He kind of sort of makes Andrea 'cause, he goes up to Andrea and he's like, Hey, what are you so upset about and she's like halfway crying, she's like I just watch again with her. It's just so so difficult, but he's a we're friends. We're going to be Fred Sir ever. She's like, okay, that's that's awesome. It's kind of fucking hilarious that they make the editor of the school newspapers say that. Because Emily's. noodling with Brandon, she doesn't like feeling like quote. Yesterday's news yes. That's nice. That's too. It's one thing you know you wanNA fuck and get a hand job that poor kids house. That's fine. You can't be like baking out in front of your friend at the school paper like you know what I mean like. It's just you know what this girl's up to your being a dickhead. Yup. You can keep it inside for a little bit So like they kind of make but he less to get this article. So he goes to confront David. Not. Confront David. Go Ask for this article. In the deejay booth and it's great because he's a that don't really have time right now. David gets the deadline dude. What do you want me to do i? Don't know fucking blow it out your ass and how about that? How `Bout Fuck you. But instead he just this is what he like. It's the big big monologue he gets and like a Christian said last night, he doesn't quite get there. He does not there. He doesn't have it now. It's. It's close though it's not that bad. It's not totally off I. think he gets if you don't have the camera on him, it's better when getting shots of like, Stupa. That guy sounds pissed. I might like him. Like stuff like that. It works when he's on camera, it's not great..

"So you can still you know catch your board if you get thrown off. No, no dylan, that's fine. I'm going to be free bowling it on this trip. No, Dylan I'm going to attach that to my revolver. So lose it. Mr Scandal. You know you're not supposed to buy bags of rocks to your ankles. The Ocean, I've. Got It. Fella. Don't worry about me. Do you think he would actually be really I mean because he's got so many backup kids. That's a good point. Really Like. He would at least be grieving right I. Guess that's the thing i. he's either been jailed or he's fled the family or SOM-. De Jailed not in this country dude, that's actually true that fucking gun was standing its ground. Wait hold on update. It was later found living in Vietnam. Extradited to the United States and awaiting trial. Connie's gambling. Goes by Lord. Conrad. Deviant known as Lord Conrad has, been. found. With another dead blonde boy in his wake. Update now. was going through local boys like Kleenex. Accidental. Suicide. Update he didn't figure out where to pied a fucking God. Didn't know there was a safety button on those things are the dumb fuck of they wind up. We don't see the actual funeral. The next day is what are kind of talking about? Hey. David, how's it going like Dylan Dave, Yo? Came men and like cat. Dylan. I'm fine Steve Sanders by the way Oh Lars Voucher. MVP. Hey. Has Gone and Talcahuano case teams. So is like the blood and stuff all over the place? You saw it, right? Dude. was. Crazy. David. After Scott ICED himself. I went back to my mansion and I was watching the Zombie movie like, do you think like? Guts. Like fell out of his fuck and Bailey. When shot himself, you see that shit man. It's good that we get like a reference to where he was shot was shot in the stomach I mean I'm surprised. He died because I. Always heard you're GONNA be okay. That's true. It takes the longest to bleed out or you know what? You've got the doctor you're going to be. Okay. You're you're you're going to be. Okay. David. Silver dropping the living room and no, we're going to wait. All right. We're going to have cake. You are not going to the emergency room and getting the bullet removed until we have this fucking. But by the way. Enters also has one of my favorite lines from the episode. It's at the funeral where Dylan can't remember Scott. Yes. Is Kelly is like. Leading. In like is like talking about other stuff and I feel bad scotch. Steve just says you do better than Scott? GOTTLIEB. Heavy. Steve. There's there's some dylan piece shit lines two like What was it was something like, yeah. Someone up. There must really like me and hate Scott. Brand line, we fucking nuts. There's craigslist later on whatever due diligent brandon are just kind of hanging out brandon's house and go. Oh, Brandon, I, didn't know you were home I, just got done going down on your sister take. Is it GonNa take off man and he was like, yeah, you know just think about all the time I should have died. You know when I was Dr- drunk drove. Definitely. There's a camping episode were. There's. Where you save my life, Dylan, that will get there by oh, that was that was what the rock climbing reference was. I did appreciate that he acknowledged the fucking drunk driving. Almost drowning kid. Somebody must like you a dylan actually have rightfully. Be. Somebody didn't like Scott. He's like, I, don't know man. It's just kinda weird. Dude whenever anyone fucking says that it's like dude, think about the other side of that statement. Exactly. The weirdest thing though about the start of that conversation is like because the scene is. Brandon is like sitting at a desk downstairs studying. mean. He's got a textbook open, but he's really just kind of looking out into nothing and dylan comes down goes, hey, Brian, or because hey, your mom says to come to bed. What the fuck is going on up there. All right. Dylan, you're done fucking my daughter. All right. Could you tell by Sunday go to bed place? It is an also and Mr what did I tell you about condoms in the wastebasket. Come on them with you. When you leave, you can drop in. Minnesota can so easily. That's a great thing though I was wondering entire fucking and. No no ALP. Jim Walsh. Is the cycle God. Damn. Such such a horrible day of punching numbers coming home. Oh, well, someone left the pop open. I could start. that. I hate wasting coca. Cola. Gut. Here's my question though Stephen. This is maybe something that has to do with the way wave. The wind is actually blowing season two. But how is it that there is a fucking. A friend or a you know out liar known associate who fucking accidentally kills themselves in a horrible accident, and there's not a scene where fucking Cindy and Jim are there to talk to the kids. It's a great question, and again like that because I think there's there's a weirdness this episode wherein like in an episode where you're supposed to feel good, it is about a child. Child. To death and you would think it'd be like an. Now. We need a Jim and Cindy are much less in this show. Now, it's more than a kid centric kind of like sugata happens right at the gym season to you then ideally in the show, but it's never there's no Japan CD plots anymore. It's all just interesting. But I'M GONNA. Miss. Those. Sexy business. But I would even like I'm not even sure if this is about Scott dying. This is about David, grieving. More than anything. Absolutely. Yeah. David episode. But it's also like, yeah. But again, like it's there should be more more parts where the the kids look more sympathetic as opposed to be horrible like Oh, that nerd died that that's kind of gross. House, that's why it had to be deleted off streaming. I've been through episodes in season. One More I, hate most of these people and I'm just like. So like I don't yeah. I, I wasn't that surprised by them being terrible of. So everyone's asking David. Aldous Shit. Everyone's like glomming onto him, and he's feeling a bit like overworked. Here. We do get a seed with. Mel, silver as his dad is just like you gotTa Take Time to grieve David by the way, is that lady harassing you still because I shoulda I should step in the. Right in the middle, because fucking the baby, the ghost of West. Beverly fucking Pam. Scanlon pops out David you've gotta come and see by House. Right. You've got to take scots. Dude Oh, my God this woman is hiding behind the Bush waiting for this kid get to school and like this is when. You're like you're like, oh. She told you to go to go pick up some stuff. You know I'm GonNa come with you. It'll be better if there's an adult there to speak for your interests David, David, I'm going to call my lawyer who is also named Mel Silva right here. Other Mel Silvis come with you. Next time you go get your stuff from his house. Because it's. Again look at this kid not only is lost. His best friend was traumatized by watching him die. That's ever get over. Totally, he doesn't need to go back in that house like that's how his his responsibility. Now. Steve. I have a question about Mel Scanlon Era Mel, silver here because. Aside from him being a philanderer. He seems at least in this like he's a good dad. Aside from the Walsh's, you don't really see too much on the shows that like kind of true of the character in general is actually a good guy for the most part. Aside from some of the flattering. That goes later on, he just can't. fucking. Look at him. Do it. He's ready to go. A. Dude. It's him. It's it's an amazing shot because again, like this episode doesn't push that button too much. But in Scots Room, there is a cut out a huge handgun that looks exactly like the gun that he gets killed with. Late not notice that someone's gotTa, rip off the wall, but like you know she's like, oh, remember what you boys plagued with transforms, you have to take.

"Maybe maybe Steve Sanders, they gotta go to quit Tarantino's house. Where we're his clothes. So that's that we cut immediately to the memorial service, which is. School the second time. In this episode, we're having a fucking sing along in the quad by the way of and do you think they were like Oh fuck. We're supposed to open the time capsule but kids dead Shit. Put his whole body in their. Great. Great. Now, we gotta wait another fifty years. Thanks to Scott. Scandal accidental suicide there. There are so many disappointed calendar people. I mean this. This is just rampant like this. You would never ending pushbacks of. Yeah. It's. It's my favorite line of the whole episode. kind of watching everybody. Everyone's really sad and it's a very sad moment you cut to dylan and Brenda. Hebron I don't want to sound like good, jerk. Which one was Scott instance funny. Looking Memorial, Dude. INTRES- with him? It is fucking. To for though because it's It is really incredible because she is like Dylan. You fucking had technology with that guy last year. He's like a thought that guy over there was discussions like, no, he was in your class blond kid, and then he just goes oh my God that. Dylan's burst appearance on this fucking show was coming out of the shadows to bend. Scott absolutely parents. It's interesting. Remainder. Scott. Scanlon. Meanwhile, his mother is right behind him. You know what I mean like it's it's memorial for someone like if you have that question, you ask it before you ask it after you do that. Yup. Just you know what? Do your best to try to do some silent detective work, and if by the end of the dead person's memorial, use still can't figure it out. Maybe quietly ask someone off to the side. Wait wait wait. Scott wasn't a guy who was dating Kelly rose you. Sure Your. Closest friends, Steve, ZANDER's. Right next to you. Oh. No Scott stead. WHO's GONNA. Run the peach pit. Aska. Dylan. That's that. Oh my God Scott's Dead Hey David. Sorry about your girlfriend now. That's Donna. Martin. Oh. Right. John I thought you said the blown one. Jeez brand. You're acting pretty good for your father Scott to be died. Brunner on everything? No. No. No. That's the friend from technaglass is I never met him, but he's surfing on the river sticks known. ACT This memorial service. We kinda get a little more. And Brandon's well, we're going to have to put out a very special issue of the blaze dedicated to Scott and they have this kind of back and forth about Andrea is. Typical brand is, why are you trying to politicize this event? Cut Killed By this fucking WWL. Billy. Barrett's time to politicize it. Now's not the time to talk about gun violence. Love for ten years, and then there'll be another shooting, and then we'll grieve another ten more. Now, the thing that's weird though is they're also arguing over which one of them was going to cover the funeral, really weird do. School newspaper You can just write your little thing about. Scott. Without having descended the fake teen. Junior to the fucking funeral over this child fucking new school newspaper covering this Kid's death that reminds me. I just re listened to I. Think it's the nineteen eighty. No respect. Rodney dangerfield album. Aligning. Your move to such a bad neighborhood, you know at the local school, the school newspaper's got obituaries. High. You heard of it. Oh. Wow. You. See that Scott. Scanlon. He checked down early. The right idea was just waiting for a shot. Oh Yeah. They're fine. They're fighting about this and there's more like. And the see the thing is who's going to cover the funeral aid. I. Agree. Really stupid. Question nobody is and like Brennan you should do it and then emily's I don't think it's right if you do it because his mom's GonNa. Freak out after we got kicked out of that party is why would you kick out of the Party? Well, we were kind of making out and emily knows what's going on here too by the way she's Oh. Wonder flag on flagging ground. Yeah. We were fucking on. We were getting their dude. Totally. She could smell, would Andrea's put So then Andrea Rotten's off and a half and Brandon, what is her problem? But? He wants. He winds covered covering the funeral. Anyway. There is this we cut to the funeral and you know the demo and here's the thing mel silver. You need to put some distance between your son and this woman that is your job as a parent like he's You don't see him yet. He's only in later in the episode, but like David Like Oh. Yeah. And she's like, well, you have to sit with the family, but my dad is here, data data, and like once that happens you need to go listen lady just greedy your own way. My Son's GonNa grieve his way. It's going to be what it is. And instead she's just like Scotts memory will be kept alive by those. Who loved him? This is David Silver. Scott's bestest bestest friend in the whole world. She says, bestest. bestest. Like six times and he's meeting white aunts and uncles, and fucking. He haw billy cousins from this fucking family. If it's a teenager, you have to give him like a good weeks. Notice before he can write and say something at a funeral courses fucking child. You can't just be a couple hours. Hey, why don't you? Just you know take all your feelings all that angst and pour it out in front of two hundred people. Exactly. Well, seventeen year old. David Silver, of course, fucking certified grief counselor. Why don't you say words? It's insane. I do like about this episode is David's Arc with him being confronted by everyone at school acting like he's going to be super devastated, and he's it's almost. It's almost tragic because he's almost like, I don't even like Scott. And that that's it's like it's a, it's a fascinating thing with his character be wrestling with because he's like he is sad that Scott is dead, but then he's also super guilty because he's like. fucking friends anymore. But he's and he's like thrust into this position of like Oh. Yeah. Everything was just like it was when you were in the fifth grade. That's the way Mrs. Scanlon thinks everything was going down and it's like devastating, watching him being pushing poll kind of a thing with his brain. I remember back in kindergarten when we were first become a friends and Mrs scanlon would just hang out in the front of school behind trees waiting come out. That all the time. Notably absent from this funeral Conrad Scanlon. Oh. Yeah. You know what's going on there? We talk and involuntary manslaughter charges. He's. He's looking for the Big Rock Candy Mountain night. Thanks. I think he's on the trails. He's heading out West Y do. Get I. Guess He Now I think he fucking wants to go surfing with Dylan. Dylan's going to be like, Hey, Mister scanlon make sure to put the safety thing around your ankle..

Cocaine Room. Dude. You See. fucking. Jackie. Taylor show up to this party. Spice it up a bit. Oh, my God. Dude. Be like a fucking hurricane in this little house. She'd find the gun before the kid. Pond this for some cocaine. Also. Weird thing that's going on throughout this entire. Party and it's like the most awful foreshadowing when you know what goes on in this episode, then everybody else catches the like incessant balloon popping sound effects. Yes. There are shots ringing out through this entire birthday party. Balloons foreshadowing. It's just super smart. It's a, it's a fucking fireworks bit boogie nights. Kind of yes. Exactly. So Brandon Emily show up a bit late and you see this kind of coming up the front and they're like Oh. Yeah, you go into the Party and like the second you crossed the threshold. You're counting the seconds until you can really, and it's always the cake. It's always a fucking birthday cake Yup. Oh, also the quickly. The douche. Chill that sets this whole thing off is. Scott over. Here's David Old guy being like. An even shown up. It wasn't for me. Doing gives a shit about this kid. Right, there couldn't believe own. That directly to donahue did all the work of getting people here, Yep, because that's fantastic. Because? I. Happy Birthday brother man getting. That done stupid baby's birthday. There's no. I. Mean I guess they don't get to have. That's because he fucking kills himself. But like there was no like Hey David Mann. That was fucking rude. David, do you hate? It's so weird because he goes back when he does get the gun, he's Kinda jovial with it when David walks in and it's like, are you this dense? Your. Friends. Hey you. 'cause. Everyone's like really uncomfortable wanting to leave. And then David tries to get to the part Miskelly wants to do limbo. He's adaptable ruined their Steve Standards, just a liberal U. The kids back at the computer lab would have been going nuts over how his boner accidentally bumped into Kelly towns. That is jacket material for two years. Two years at least because he's in between Kelly and Brenda at one point and yeah, it's it's really working for Scott. Now, the other, Oh man, what wasn't just going to say about this, Oh, Steve I think to add some credence to why this is where the Garth Brooks Song is playing. David. is like all right everybody? "Forget. How does he guilt everyone into going? He doesn't. And I said this off the air and say now because other points, it's also proven, but it's due to the heroism of the fucking a number. One slugger of this episode is Donna. Donna is the one who convinces all them to go to the park. And Donna is doing a lot of legwork throughout the rest of this episode because I guess the idea is Steve I. Mean they're not together here, but like Donna may be likes him or something, and they're kind of flirting with that. Yes. there. There is starting to get together everything. Then they become a couple of the rest of the run. You know maybe Donald could get the party started. Do literally anything in this show on like they're trying to. Finally. This episode is the first one where I'm seeing, they're actually finding something for Donna to actually do it today characters the maybe maybe Donna could have empathy for a dead child, totally maybe done as a compassionate human. Oh, you David Silver need to doormat maybe Donald. Doormat. Say whatever you want to Donna Dude. They're having a condo in the hallway and he's like come on guys. It's Scott's birthday like, what am I going to do your man? I Dunno dude. And they like waltz off Dillon says he's going to be in Baja. Out Dude always with the serving vacations, Dylan knows what's up is that it could out of his social. Can I ever come on these things? No Dude sorry. Why don't you learn how to surf bad first things first, those are just sex tourism trips. Right? Absolutely would have to be. Brand. New can't come with me. 'cause then you find out about my secret family. Oh No. I shouldn't have said that crowded. She said I say Baja. I. Met Niece France where I have a second family. Baby, Dude. But like it's so it's in that whole thing where they'll walk away like, sorry, Bro, and Donna's like don't worry man like I'll I'll talk to them. We can try to figure something out and I of two instances I caught a savage boom mic. Ouch to holy fuck was hit Tori. Spelling face. Take it again, guys like. Me Like. Mike is, let's do it again. It takes two seconds. It's not the fuck it. It's not the bridge shot and sorcerer. You'll. You'll be able to get it again. Maybe maybe the prom theme, this year is good audio. The DP probably just thought like, okay. Now, I'm making a movie right now, this will be in a theater. Right. Of the so also here's the thing. Every David should figure it out like and you know he's being naive I guess. What is worse than coming with nobody is coming with these people that is. Dragging some 'cause you know it's going to be an embarrassing party. It's. The moms already talking about like she's got toys for all the kids and Shit, like you know, Steve Sanders is going to be a piece of shits centers fucking drunk and ex girlfriend that's always wants to do. He really should especially because this is all his fault and. He also looks like whenever Joey. Pants needed stunt double. This matrix really does you couldn't find a blond actor here like it Scott is famously blonde. That's all we know about it. Yeah. I, I don't know what this guy's deal is. There is a fucking Douche line, right at the start of this party though because when David goes up to him, he's like, Hey, Mister Scanlon, they're trying to be ready for my son's Great Party. What a great life, my son Scott has ahead of him. And Fuck it dude, the David Silver lining goes Scott says he's got to. You got a couple of new guns in your collection Ooh, fear collection of guns. "You know we'd be doing all this stuff like we're having fun with it and Scott's hey, hey, hey, guys, he's quarter. Through, it'll young. Steve Sanders answer that it'd be defending the fair mocked on the Fatherland. It'd be a pretty serious Nazi sympathizers. Steve Your your German pronunciations coming along so well. Dunkin teacher. Yeah. No nefarious reasons for that. Steve would go on to eat US fucking cyanide. I. Wish that's the end of season ten. I've had a good run click. Of they. Wind up so. Scott invites David to his Scott. Oh? What are you doing later? Man I gotta cut this video got. Later, and it's Kinda. Great. His this woman, his mother, Alpha look up the character, the actress Oh God. This is brutal Jessica. As Pam Scanlon, this woman is an actual David Lynch nightmare person. That's right she that's what she she played. The spoiler for the film. Devil plays the Devil at a totally the devil. Believable. Even in this in this show. Believable. I think, are his parents were sacrificing him to the Davel? That's what this is all about. She's just creeping around the school we. David Bats by so that she could rope it doing the work of what getting him friends, fake friends. I guess it's a web throwing Scotty is surprise part. You'RE GONNA come. Aren't you? A? That's a huge position. She's needs like. Shore Scaling I, guess I have to. She's like Oh and then just bring about twenty or twenty five kids hold on lady. This is not my job. It's so last minute. That's really the issue i. It's awful and also once you get a look at the scanlon ranch here, she thought twenty five extra people. WE'RE GONNA FIT in this house. What planet are you on look David I already bought the meatballs? Okay. Bringing twenty, five people you're. Well, where are they going to sit your fucking litter? Is All over the house fraught law. It's up nick. And everyone gets a gun. It's a gun party. To come and everyone got I've got all these David what am I to do with these guns? Connie honey, did you get to guns? Birthday. Yeah. The party favored guns. Everyone gets to take home a gun. David is now given this fucking Herculean task of having to get anyone to give a shit about Scott scanlon. There is a nice moment though when Scott is asking him just so uncomfortably about what you know what plans he has or whatever. When he basically like shut that shit down and he's like Scott, I'm fucking busy dude. He lets him DJ and the radio station, which is Kinda Nice which. They pepper these moments of like David Silver still like. Again he was that it feels like sort of truthful and like you sort of like, let all that, Shit. You know high school should fly away and you're like, all right, dude, like come on. We're still we're still friends. You know you're a nice guy. He tries do nice thing for him. I'm GonNa, assume the thing he plays is friends in low places by Garth Brooks which absolutely on track. That has to be right. It is. It's no. That's not what they're dancing to. Oh maybe maybe the party that might be a to I. Don't know this is the garth and what was that that Evil Garth Brooks Chris Games. Musical Goes Chris Game. That was the funniest thing. Right? It was garth brooks hosting SNL, but the musical gas was Chris Gaines. Absolutely. Chris. Gain them. Bad idea looks like the guy from my chemical romance came back from the future looper style. became a country artist. Garth Brooks popularized what would become an email at least fashion. Wise. Right and love it. He's trying to get everyone to go and nobody fucking wants to meanwhile the if this episode wasn't uncomfortable your, but all wasn't in your throws me already, you've gotta deal with fucking. Andrea, and Brandon and emily. Valentine, the I fucking love triangle because she's like it's at this event. She's opening excited for citizen Kane. This weekend is Andrea and he's like Oh. Is that this weekend I was supposed to hang out with emily. And she's devastated and he goes. You're gonNA, blame me, you bought the tickets to but. That's what I was going to point out dude he's like, how do you expect me to remember this when you bought the tickets months ago? It's like dude, you are the absolute worst. He socks Andrea Zuckerman is a dream Girl Brandon. Brandon I gotta say he's the calendar. Guy. He knew this was coming. I can smell all them. I it that's that's a calendar man if I ever. Right. Dude. He's got a very detailed day planner. He probably has a fucking counter and his stupid trapper keeper. Absolutely one, hundred percent. And he's like and he's like it's not like, Oh, I have dinner plans with emily or I'm going the we. We have another thing we're. Supposed to kind of hang out with emily status. Well, you had split plans with me, asshole. Well, you know what? Andrea here's the thing. If we go to the movies, I can't diddle you in the theater. But if I go over to Emily's house and do nothing I could did learn her dad's den. That's what he's saying. He's like I can go. I have no plans with this girl except that I may be able to get a little action right on going to watch his moving from the forties say till in, do you know if that trick from diner really works? I was GONNA see. Maybe family wanted to see a movie. Brand. You can't do it buddy. You can't do it. Said Trick Diner again, when Mick York puts his cock inside a bucket of popcorn. The old popcorn trick long. Thank you for your Popcorn Hey Andrea. Actually. I was thinking about it. How about just take both a citizen Kane tickets 'cause you won't even be able to get there with the bus schedule being as it is. You might be able to get there. But then by the time the movies over with, it's pretty long. You know it's like two hours and there's going to be an intro at the beginning, the bus might shut down by the time we get out of the theater. So I'm thinking emily can go and we can make out Derek. Citizen? Kate. Upbringing the popcorn out right when he's making a speech in front of the big poster. God down now, now, Steve Did in the in between times since three skipped ahead, a little bit has Andrea and Brandon gotten together. Whatsoever. They did at the season finale, almost really hook up, and then it's sort of like they get interrupted and it's like. Well, we'll see and I kinda don't remember what happens in the summertimes but there is like they pushed that thing really close and then it just doesn't happen. But she's obviously so super into him still and. The thing is he can't be oblivious at this point. He knows he known for Awhile, he's just he likes tormenting her absolutely. So. David is running around trying to get everybody to go to the nobody wants to go because it's going to be fucking horrible I..

"Then that Kelly has about like Oh David my mom wants to take you and your dad out to dinner tonight does that work or something? Exactly. L., silver looks like a Beverly Hills, only swinging dentists. With laughing gas. I. GotTa. Tell he's got my favorite line in the justice before which is Jackie. I've got a problem with monogamy which absolutely does. He loves oral. Oh Man. I love the WHO doesn't. But yeah. Bill, silver, played by the Great Matthew Lawrence Let me look it up. He was on. He's not the father of them Lawrence Boise. I don't know. It's spelled. There's a you in there. The eighties actor is almost fire at Eddie and the cruisers. Wow. Yeah. Something called port city which looks like garbage? Hill. For a bit anyways. But that's kind of it and then the other the other major part of this episode is Brandon starts dating the quote. Unquote. New Girl in school is Emily Valentine, and for those of you who watched show in a while, this is before she gets crazy it's still early days at believe Alad time. What does she turn into like a serial killer kind of like the joker of this show. Excellent. No spoilers about what happens. But yeah, it kind of turns into the joker for a bit. We open very familiar for you. Gentlemen, David Silver is filming this crazy creepy. Nationalist. fucking. Rally. What was going on I was looking for the fucking mega hats and the crowd. KKK Him, I'm hearing. From the crowd here the. Long. Term Christ I. Am America. And get that Shit. OUTTA here. He's like going around looking into l look every narrated. There's Kelly tailored Steve Sanders look at that Oh are here. This is Donna. That's. Okay friends are years old. This audio is unusable videos trash now. I mean, here's the thing that's awful about it. When he turns his sights on Steve Kelly and Donna, he's like and there go the three Amigos Steam Kellyanne Donna. It's called them that. I, it's really uncomfortable but also. I realized today. Just because accidentally watched Ben Shapiro Clip afterwards. What what. How does that happen? Somebody posted it his him being an asshole talking about something stupid on twitter. It's every Ben Shapiro. Clip. But then it got you thinking did maybe changing your views a little bit. He sounds David before he hits puberty suds exactly. Ben Shapiro now. Yeah. That's totally true. I don't know Don. I'm just asking questions. Logically, if you think about it Donna, there's a little black people because. It's black people maybe maybe. I. Just Talk Fast enough use a bunch of words fast enough altogether together. No, one's GonNa realize how fucking stupid Vapin I am yea. Dude is dumb as donkey shit. And we're going around you know. Those one get film Blah Blah Blah, and where we over I told you about that thing come on. Dope, pictures. Dude I. Don't want that going out to that. That French Lady, she thinks I'm dead. She's GonNa Track. Down Silver. Of she was we, it's a ceremony for a three day event because we're doing a fucking, what do you call it? There a time capsule reopening from nineteen forty, one, fifty years ago on and you know. Scott there. He shows up. He's got this cowboy hat because here's the thing. Is this. So. Scott goes away. He comes back. The real uncomfortable thing is David is like now quote unquote. Cool. The cool gang and Scott has become even worse. Somehow he's got like he in Oklahoma got into gun culture. He got into like cowboy hats and so on, and so forth. This cowboy hat, the, this is like when. I forget who it is asking homer to spy. On up. Brockman is, yes. You're right and he goes into the huge cowboy hat with the camera and like that's how big this fucking cowboy had his got come on, you know and also Scott like it's okay for friends to drift apart and you don't have to be shoved into, you don't have to be a square peg shoved into a round hole trying to fit in with the three. Amigos or whatever David's trying to cultivate. He's not. He's not talking about the black. He's friends with the Komax. The three Amigos aren't fringed me, but I wanna be friends with them and like all the different characters are only. From him, he doesn't feel like he's in there at all. But the thing is to why it's so fucking devastating in this instance because like what this episode I think captures kind of pretty okay. Is that idea of like you know when you're growing up like friends grow apart and whatever. But the thing that is fucking devastating about what they said up here is that. David has gone off and he's got other friends and Scott stayed where he is with no other click like there's no D. circle that he's going to also go like David Silver is all this kid has which makes the so much worse, and that's the thing is I mean look at it. It'd be of good on the show to sort of explore this sort of idea because usually like you know people are always friends forever and. Or they just get written off the show which the kind of almost should have done with Scott. Right? Like he didn't work at the first season. We got the new opening, the sexy do opening he certainly, not part of it. I mean I. Guess they're trying to do that here, but or you can visit vanish him and I'll be like. Okay. So he's just hanging out. Out in another part of the school or like he's just he's so he comes back and he's like David I fucking loved Oklahoma Dude like as much as we're great friends, Oklahoma at like spoke to me. It's where I was comfortable and guess what Motherfucker I'm going and living with my aunt and uncle. Sure I'll see you around going to be the fucking Prince of Oklahoma. You know what I mean and like that and just go instead. It's like, no. We're going to use this kid as an example for a message is, Hey, let's face death come on a nine. Oh, two one. Oh, tonight. Let's face death this. Straight in the face, this is. Creeping in. Davidson like alcott guys. What would you be doing? Nineteen, forty one and they're like Oh..

"Hello, and welcome to the finale episode of Melrose to know the season finale, not the series finale A. Quarantine side show. Yeah. Wherein we talk about Beverly Hills Dunno. To End Melrose Place You know we have this We were supposed to do another episode about Brandon's getting a girlfriend is a TV star. Totally. But then in my backyard, I found this cool little pipe. You WanNa go y'all want to walk on through it Fuck Yeah Dude, I love going pipes. Here we go. Here we are where it's Scott's fucking death episode. Shit. We're in season two. It looks great Mrs. Skeleton. And he's thrown a shell at me. In, song sounds better. It does all that kind of. Stuff going to be a supersized episode I'm guessing. This. Is the next fifty years. Original air date. November. Seventh Nineteen ninety-one by the way Bush's term almost over guys. Don't worry about it. Mother Fuck. The voices you're hearing mine is Stephen Sadek. I. Am joined, of course by my best fucking friends in the world. Do I haven't seen in five fucking months? Chris, Cabin. I Eric, Ceska, how partner and? Andrew? Japan you. So yeah, this is we kind of decided like. I didn't want and just end on a wet Fart, nine, hundred hundred episode and we wanted to, we've teasing this fucking March. We should just get to it. What kind of far does this bloody? By. Oh let's not with the bloody parts. Why not? Because that's a horrible image and it sounds terrible to the ear. Oh, you to Taco Bell and now you have blood effort. Just like. This episode is a learning moment. Don't eat that. Much. TACO. Bell, you'll have bloody farts. May. I think Dylan would remember a bloody far or then he remembered Scott. That is a series high point for that, oh? I was chuckling and I have to say see by the way. We, the two of US met in the fall of the year, two, thousand and two and we were fast friends, but I distinctly remember in the fall of two, thousand, two US talking about this episode. Wasn't until today, June or July, the twenty, four, th thousand, twenty, I finally sat down and actually watched it and good gravy. This is something that's always stuck with me because it's such a bizarre episode It's also scrubbed from apologies to everybody. You know you've got a really play fucking TV detected defined this thing and I don't know why I truly do not know why exactly I mean it's not like I could see something you know with modern audiences if it was like a school shooting or something. But like first of all those hadn't been invented yet. Capacity that we have them. Now that is you know what? I mean. I don't understand what's going on well I. Do know why? Actually by the way? Yeah Yeah Yeah you see it is directed by Lars von Career. They had wanted a criterion option to be on the BLU ray of Dogville when they. Wanted to save for that, they don't want to be having it they on CBS to be happening. Why was the most expensive episode of Oh to announce the finance, the boat trip from Europe? Dame. Dana. You're right. Chris. The everyone is it's an ugly world. That everybody hates everything. It is fantastic. It is Yeah. Be this whole second season I don't know what's going on with the rights like it's. It's because look at it on on Hulu end CBS Alexis and it's really scattershot. Not This episode is missing. Episodes like the color me bad episode. Make sense to cut because like they're in the episode and you obviously have the music rights problem, etcetera etcetera. But like this one. Yeah, it's a totally just a, it's a, it's a message episode like, Hey, man fucking maybe don't have guns around. You have like eighteen fucking redneck kids running around. Christ if you have a gaggle of children following you around little baby ducks, maybe a fucking desk-drawer handgun is not the best idea minister scan, win looking what kind of dirty lead deals. He needs a Mug a gun at his desk. seriously. So it's GonNa. fucking come in and try to take out over some oil deal. I gotta get. OUTTA CONNIE SCAN. The. Hillbilly that also somehow lives in. Beverly. Hills. It's insane. I, mean, it's good that they're addressing this big gun culture I mean, we did say that this episode is hard to find and you said other ones are going to be hard to find when we do continue. We're going to go through the mall. We'll find a way and I'm sure you at home could find a way if you google enough. Yes. Yes and I will say I'm toying with the idea because this season two episode fourteen, it'll be whenever we restart this, which we will absolutely restart melrose. You promised a million times because you guys have been awesome supporting it this entire time. But when we do bring this back and we get back to hear, I we might Redo it. We might look at. A syncopal commentary possibly. Something I'm not sure if I can do this again. I got to say. A Lot. I kind of agree with you and someone said it last night. It was. It was either Erica Chris CA- Stephen I watched it this morning. One of you said that it was like extreme curb your enthusiasm and like to degree. Yes. Absolutely. I was the exact amount of uncomfortable watching Scott scanlon birthday party, not even the fucking death, the birthday party, right? Before he kills himself at his birthday party on his expense. is almost the lease remarkable part of the tire episode. Completely. Correct. All Weird. Awkward Moments. Yes. Exactly. Like the death was when I was finally able to breathe. Oh good. A tragedy at least. Being so socially awkward. So let me bring everybody up to speed on kind of what's been going on on that. inbet- In betwixt. No idea, why am I gonNA? Just showed. I mean not much. We like the Walsh Kids are pretty much the walsh kids Dylan Brenda, obviously, you're still going out But in the beginning of season two brand, we have like this weird summer season for like six or seven episodes. Long time for. And during so. A lot of things happen. David kind of. Scott goes on vacation and to Oklahoma of all places, and he's comfortable upstate on a farm somewhere. And Yada Yada Yada, but David starts ingratiate was more with the gang even more. So because Mel Silver, who is this episode? David's father starts dating Jackie Taylor. Kelly's mom, and that leads to a lot of funny awkward their Shenanigans, and now he's kind of defacto quote unquote part of the gang that explains the line..
