As fast as I ever got a job, so I had nothing to do with my abilities are acting otherwise it was Julie that I had I had this on rain and So that's that's my origin story in a it's kind of to because it's you can imagine by that time. It was it was like Vietnam it was like winning radio contests to be on a show that I already loved I was very young. Cool about it because I was just happy to be there, but you guys were all very cool about it so chip. After you got the job and you started working on the show. We said like it looked like you guys were having so much fun. What was it like to get to do these scenes with like ed? Helms and Steve Carell and Rashida Jones like. Do you have any any episodes in? That, you have fond memories of their The one episode of where joss is very mad at Jim Because Jim, thank call the duty and uses the sniper rifle. He's to start screaming at them. And of course that was amazing and that seemed goes off and so. When I didn't realize is that everybody was playing that game for real brace on the. Same thing in years I believe right. You're. Actually hooked up and everybody was playing the duties, so they just wrote it into the show. Everybody I had I hadn't played that much. I was like about what were they use explaining everything to me. And then we went and we. We did it, and it was so much fun. Yeah, yeah, are writers. Editors were really into that. We didn't get to do that onset. We were always a little bummed, but they were playing it all the time and on the DVD commentary. They did mention that John mentioned. That's like. Like one of the hardest times he had to work not to laugh was in that scene with you. and Ed and you guys were just going off on him about call of duty. That's the thing is you're in this business so long and you're in? Things are pretty good things that are not good at all, and you're always despite after the show is I commend, the people would walk up to me and go. I saw you on the office. You're very funny and I knew that what it really was I. Say that. Many I wasn't the funny part of the situation the comedy but I did get some great very very funny lines here. I was just in a room with Ed. John and Rashida and try not to laugher or just watching Michael Scott when he says I'm. A love inside jokes. Like to be a part of Sunday. That's just as good..

"Insurance like a good neighbor, state farm is, there are eight so then Michael is down in the warehouse. He's talking to Darryl. He finds out the Bob. Vance has bought the warehouse and Michael Really starts to spin out and he tells the office he has not gonNA, take this lying down. He and Dwight. They are going to go confront the CFO. And they're gonNA save the branch. How what do you think they're gonNA? Do but I do have an old tackler. Old Tech Track at is it twelve minutes fifty seconds. Dwight, says hey, he's David Wallace in the office. Don't worry I. Have Is Home Address, and he goes to his flip phone Jenner juicy how he has to toggle. Find the addresses. Do you remember that? And then he says don't worry. He's on my Christmas card list I loved the so much. I love to think about what is Dwight's Christmas card. What is he sending out? It's must be a picture of the beet farm I feel like it's in some way, also a piece of advertising. Maybe it's MOS- holding up a bunch of beets. I have a fan catch from Nico Martin, when Michael and Dwight or driving David Wallace House. The temperature in the car says it's eighty degrees outside. Wire Michael and Dwight wearing trench coats well Nico. That's because we shot this episode in August, but it aired on November ninth and we always tried to match the season in which the episode would air, so that is also why you're going to see pumpkins outside at Davis Wallace's house. We placed them there even though it was August to make it seem like it was fall. Yeah, we placed him there and hope they wouldn't explode from the heat. We'll. Let's talk a little bit about the CFO's house because we got a lot of questions about it. It's a very nice house. We filmed there. I was I did a few episodes there, and it's a really beautiful home well well, Wael? I'm rubbing off on you. I Know Charlotte Guevara asked. was that someone's actual house or was it random and Dixie Heidrick said whose home was used as David Wallace House, and where was it located? Well of course I went to a pedia and he told me that David Wallace House is located on Lomita. Drive in, Pasadena California, it's a beautiful neighborhood. Oh. It's a beautiful neighborhood. It was three houses away from the house used on the TV show Benson, let's just a little bit of Trivia for it. So just a little bit more about this House Jennifer Hodge and Whitney grey sick wrote in, and said at fourteen minutes thirteen seconds. Why does David Wallace have an H. monogrammed? Welcome Mat. Shouldn't it be a w? Anna Worthington said. Are they at the wrong house? Is that part of the Joke Dwight, and Michael go to the wrong house, and that's why there's an age instead of w well can't told me that it was.

"Our question comes from Patricia Kennedy Patricia wants to know. Angela when you're talking to Roy. It seems like Angela has a thing for Roy. Did She Patricia? This is a fantastic question aright. Many of you out. There have speculated about Angela and Roy Jenna. I've been asked this question a lot and there's all of these threads online about it, so the answer is yes. It seems like Angela always had a thing for Roy i? Love this question Patricia because this has given us an opportunity to track it. We're going to track this Angela Roy Flirtation. Because it is real, it is happening are right. Early on, there are a few episodes that kind of hint at this Roy Angela flirtation I believe it starts in the fire. This is season to remember when the members of the office playing the game. Who would you do and Michael? Asks, Roy who would you do and Roy says. What's the name of that tight ASS Christian? Chick, the blonde, yeah sort of referring to Angela round, and I'm standing right there and I'm like my name is. He's like Hey Angela so. Definitely it starts there, and then in the secret, when Angela and Phyllis are in the kitchen and they're cleaning out the fridge. Phyllis asked Angela who she'd pick if she were in PAM shoes, gem or roy and animals like want participate in this right, but then she gets kind of. Weird look on her face and she goes Roy. Weird look, it's like a confession if well, Roy! But. Then this just keeps building right and it's further fleshed out in the first ever. The Office Websites Jenna so the web says were called the books don't balance. It featured the accounting department, and if you watch it go to. Five titled Someone in the Warehouse The accountants are wondering. If maybe Roy took the missing money, Angeles says absolutely not that he has too much character and Kevin as Angela if she has a crush on Roy and Angela gets very very flustered. Oh whoa,.

"He has the SMIRK. I noticed it too uh-huh. Well we have fan question for Mary Putin and actually a lot of people wrote in with a similar question. She wanted to know when we got the script for this episode did any of US worry that the show was being canceled or did? We know that this was just an idea for an episode? And she was asking. A lot of people are asking because we've said before. Sometimes plots are revealed to us at these table reads, and they were shocking, and they wanted to know as we sat down and got the script as we were reading it where we thinking, wait a second wet scranton's closing. Are we all out of jobs? No guys. We knew that this was a plot point. None of us were worried. We had all had our contract's renewed for all of season three. Yeah! And, so we knew that we would be producing twenty four episodes in season three, and we also had been tipped off to the fact that eventually there would be a merger episode, and that those people from Stamford would be coming to join us, so we didn't have any kind of surprise or anxiety when we got the script. No, we were just excited because it meant finally after this episode, we could all be in one room together, so we are excited at least the Scranton branch. We were excited I. Don't know that. was like we like our schedule, but we were excited to have everyone back all right so now Angela we move into a Ryan talking head. And? He's holding up his business cards right or are they his calling cards? Oh boy. He's holding his. Business slush calling guard. Eight minutes notice here. It is talking head exterior window behind him. Oh this is the beginning of the exterior window talking heads because next up Angela has a talking head. Kelly has a talking head with the Mascara on her face, all exterior windows. She's going on track. All right so now we're going back to Stanford and Andy is leading everyone in a chance Stamford Connecticut. Right. He's getting everyone up..

"A little congratulations to us, and we also need to say that Steve was robbed because he did not win that year for Michael Scott. He never won for Michael. Scott, which is ridiculous. Yeah, well I have a Janna catch, because since Celeste turned me onto. Looking at this whiteboard found something else on the whiteboard on the top line written under Thursday written in multiple colors. It says in case you haven't noticed. There is a lot of colorful who he on this board. Anyway guys for the future. I think it could be very fun to freeze on this whiteboard because they did change what they wrote all the time well. I love that I. Love the little subtle shade towards the television. Me All about Steve Not kidding the emmy totally coming up next. Michael has talking head, and then he does something immediately after in. It's one of these classic. Michael moments that I live for. It always makes me laugh so hard Michael says that all he can do is put on a brave face and be our leader, and then he says to the whole bullpen. It's over. We are screwed. Yeah. Really Buddy that's the brave face you're putting on rose. Okay? Thanks Yeah I. Mean He really. He offers no comfort. He's sort of. Ugly? Cry Angeles. Asking about the employees asking about their jobs. I have to catches here. I have something I need to say Angela okay. Go at seven minutes eighteen. Seconds your sweater. It's a sweater vest. Okay, so I actually have some photos of the sweater from a wardrobe that I saved so I have a button-down shirt, and then over it I have A. Vest, but it's like a tank. It a teeny tiny, very odd sweater vest. Yes, like another one of those failed project runway. Contests, oh a hundred percent, and then our wardrobe designer carry Bennett took the buttons off the sweater vest and replace them with those cat faces. It's really a work of art. It really is all right well. I have a catch at seven minutes twenty seven seconds. This is one of the most famous Michael Scott MEMES IT Steve Making. That face like he's about. To cry, or maybe he smells dog poop. You know the face any says this is the worst and people use it a ton to respond to other people like when they get some news that they're like no way. All of a sudden I see in my feed Steve's face. Okay on office ladies pod. Will you please post the pictures of your cat buttons and of this meme? Yes, of course, of course, okay, good 'cause I want everyone to have these visuals. Okay I think it's important. I have a script question Gina because I know you have the the scripts so. Toby admits that he knows that this was going to happen. Michael Calls Him. A traitor says he wants to see him in his office. To Walk in and Michael Says. Oh my God you walk so slowly. I feel like that was Steve Improvising I. had that same feeling and I did look at the script. None of that part of him calling toby into his office was scripted. So him that whole bit of him calling toby in his office say he's walking slowly and then dwight guarding the door and putting his hand up to the camera. None of that was in the script amazing. Yeah, amazing and I love that everyone just went with it. There's just like Steve's doing his thing. We're going to let this play out and participate because I looked. I was like wait. Wait! Is there a lost scene of Toby in Michael's office? Is there a conversation that didn't make no, no, that was just Steve on the day. Wow, and you know speaking of how rain gets the little smirk when he provides us at seven minutes fifty two seconds when he won't let the camera crew in, and he's shuts the door..

"Fast fact number two is a major old tech tracking. You're gonNA love this what? Aright. On January ninth two thousand seven apple introduced the first iphone. I don't know if you remember this, but it was unveiled during a presentation by Steve Jobs. We got some mail from Aaron McDonald with what might be my favorite tip off. He said that the cold open from this episode was the first ever piece of video played on the Iphone, and it was done during that presentation by Steve Jobs Wow. We were part of this global moment like without knowing it. It blew my mind here. Is something even more crazy? I watched the whole presentation also during the presentation. Steve Jobs when he's showing you how the music stuff works. He plays the green. Day Song Boulevard of broken dreams. Angela in season six of the Office Dwight and Andy Sing Boulevard of broken dreams in the Secret Santa Episode. What are you trying to tell me Jonah? What is happening episode of lost? Is this an episode of loss of mind? Grew minds time portal. What's happening? I don't know. Don't you think it's crazy that both video of the office and that Green Day Song, we're both part of this presentation, and then later that same green day song shows up on the office. It's so many coincidences. What's happening? I. Think it's a collective of amazing creative minds. It's kind of great stuff you've got an iphone. You've got the office. You've got Green Day. It's I duNNo. Okay all right. WHAT'S NEXT JENNA? Fast Act? Number three. There a ton of talking heads in this episode. Did you notice we'll 'cause? Everyone's reacting. I did notice that everyone's talking about Oh what am I gonNa do now that the branches closing, and then when we find out the branches, not closing, everybody talks about Oh. Here's my reaction to that news. Do. You remember when we talked about. How are cinematographer Randall Einhorn? Chose the placement of talking head based on whether or not people had a future outside of Thunder Mifflin. Yes, to refresh everyone's memories. We learned that most characters have the office of under Mifflin behind them behind them in that window as they're giving their talking heads, and the reason behind this was that many people were stuck. They didn't really have a future. They were kind of stuck in the world of Thunder Mifflin right however very often. Jim would have a talking head all the time and his talking heads had a window to the world behind him. Yes, he'll point of that was because he had a future outside of this company yet. He was going places, yes. Angela in this episode. After the employees get the news that defender Mifflin, Scranton is closing..

"Memorial Day lineup. We've got starting with Phil Esten Ryan Saunders. Join us later right now his boss, Gerson Rosa's, welcome to the twin cities after the sports idol next few times, but fun to have you on the air and interesting, what's going on timber wolves land, thanks for giving us a few minutes today. No, thank you for the opportunity excited to be on with you. So what happens Ryan, we is head coach. So now you he get together. And obviously there has to be a focus on two thousand nineteen twenty what happens this week next week. What are these next few weeks leading up to the draft in free agency? So we're, we're caught in a perfect storm of non stop activity, which is actually more positive than anything. But we're in the middle of putting a staff together for Ryan. We're getting ready for the draft. We're getting ready for free agency as well. We're having communication with every team in the league in terms of how we can help ourselves but we're. Doing it together as a partnership, and it's great for me, and it's great for Ryan for us to be able to watch this process together Gerson, if you'd kind of take us to your desk. How does the process work? What's the number of your outgoing calls versus your inbound calls agents are trying to get their players placed your you've got the draft. Coming up, what is Dave oke like you know what? When you when you start a new opportunity like I started here, the calls or pretty balance as time goes out. It'll be more outgoing and incoming that's just the nature of business. But our market, whether it's signing players trading players working with other teams. It's not very efficient. So, you know, there's, there's a pressure in the market, not to do anything, but for us in the stage where we're at we have to explore everything. And we wanna make sure we built the best team possible that we can this year and moving forward. And, you know, our minds it in terms of building this program and establishing. A strong foundation. So we can have sustainable success is going to take a lot of activities. So team wise, I think we've been very aggressive. We've talked about we've talked to just about every team in the league and then the other processes, I think it's a combination of both, but you're constantly exploring you know what you're doing internally versus what's available externally and how you can connect those dots to get value for your team. Certainly understand the value of guard. Play in Houston. When you look at the Kimball is just right now point blank, you'll roses unsigned ties Jones is unsigned in a me. Jeff Teague is a huge question Mark, because you don't know how much he'll play next year. How, how do you sense that position? That is so critical. It's a critical position not only for our team. But how we wanna play in terms of have in an open floor system with pace and creativity. So that's, that's a big one force. I think we're, we're, we're in a good place with Jess Jeff has been in the facilities been working hard. So we still good about him coming in. We do have a couple of situations that are going to be determined this summer at that position as you mentioned. But we feel you know we feel good about our odds there, if that's the direction that we need to go into. But we're going to look at everything I think you want depth, you know in Houston. We have the example of having two point guards, you often, don't get that opportunity. You also can't preselect your superstar, so you have to do the best that you can what's available, but it's going to be a key position of to for us to address this season either getting better player development, bringing guys back or looking opportunities to upgrade that. But we need a position to be a strong. Enforce in terms of how we wanna play the draft in what your thoughts are a lot of speculation on who you might wind up with about your needs in the ideal position that you're in. So we feel good about eleven. We feel like this draft is, is where we're at there's going to be good depth. And it's pretty flat in that area. So you'll see is do a couple of things we feel about the guy we can get. But we also want to be creative to lock in as much talent as possible. So we're we're currently having conversations with other teams to be able to move up if if our targets are at different spots, a head Elissa were assessing. What what's it gonna take to do that? And then there's also multiple teams with multiple picks in the first round. And if we feel like there's enough value on the board, and we can move back and pick up value. Pickup acids, and pick up a similar guy than what we're getting there. We'll look to do that as well. We'll also explore opportunities if we can find a player where we can trade eleven out for that can help us a little bit more and is in a, you know, in, in a in a contract or a team friendly situation will look at all those things. But we, you know, we're going to be very. Thorough. We're going to be very illegit guys workouts coming up. So we're really going to get to know this, this group as, as, as best as we can and be prepared to pivot to get the most value weekend. You obviously had a very unique situation with James harden in the way. Houston ran ran their offense cetera. Karl Anthony towns. He's in the point goes bring the ball down the floor, but are there ways or the things that you see in the Houston style, or you can run offense through towns to showcase your best player, a lettuce skill set work. Absolutely. And to be fair, you know, might be Tony deserves a ton of credit because he's, he's the father of this type of loss and you adjust your philosophy every roster. And every player that you have, you know, in Phoenix, it was different with Steve Nash in Houston. It was different with, with James and Chris here in, Minnesota, the approach in the values are going to be similar, but the execution is going to be different because, you know, call is our is our number one priority. We're gonna play through him. I think we're gonna take a lot of pressure off of him. With the pace that we're going to play the floor spacing, we're going to have, you know, we have to add more shooting around him and more skill to take some that depends if pressure that he's gonna face. So it's gonna be different in that we're playing to maximize our roster and Carl specifically, but I do expect to have similar foundation and similar values that we had not only Houston, but the way Golden State plays and the way some of my teams and Phoenix played as well maybe time for one or two more questions timetable on putting your coaching staff together. We're on it now who are on now from the moment, we move forward with Ryan. We've been you know, we put a target list together. We're talking to different candidates were assessing best fits and evaluating how we can put that staff together. But for me, and I said this during my press conference, you know, Ryan is the biggest piece of that group, but the succession failure not on one man or one individual. It's on the staff and Ryan, I are working hard to put together the best after round that complemented and that'll help us move this program forward, Gersh appreciate it very much for visiting with you in the future. And we'll get you silver butter knife state to Murray's to welcome you into town. I appreciate it next time I gotta come into it with love to be with you. We will get out. Yep. So much. All right. We're back with more right after this tunnel. David, mike. Getting tired of your lunch options change with video Caesar's hot Rudy lunch Mbo. Well, we the winds of change. "Again today. So luckily they had the option for both teams in the way. These, these are set up now where you'd only play teams then you don't play them again. The rest of the year you gotta get them in when you can't because only only division teams that you played you playoff. And everybody else is the twins are done. Clint Houston already. They're playing Baltimore already. Is weird way. They scheduled. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. And, and you know, but it does grew up a day off. Does that screw up rotation at all? Will it still be Peres today? Yeah. Stay with what they've gotten to pick it up, again in play Chicago. And they say Monday, Tuesday Wednesday off. So, yeah, they, they should be just fine as far as the rotation that shouldn't affected at all. Listen to Rockall last night in pre game. So it sounds like you want to keep that rotation steady as he could the the guy's pitching current so that it doesn't get out of sorts such a weird schedule. Yeah, indeed. Hey, talk about baseball and gophers here. They kinda ran into a buzzsaw last night with, with Nebraska. While the kids, some lakeville Norsar watching hockey triple started to run. Big RBI velvet later, all of a sudden, the floodgates opened this Frederickson for the gophers at roughed up pretty good last night. They just couldn't get it. Right. They didn't. They didn't play well defensively in, in Nebraska games in Omaha now remember university Nebraska's Lincoln's, but it's still kind of like a home game. There they, they get a big crowd showing up at the same place. They play the college World Series but they really put the gophers back to I think aside from that game, every the top three seeds I think I'd beat yesterday in the big ten tournament moving loser's bracket, which is really unusual. But also nations, that much tougher for the gophers because that tells you what the loser brackets go look like trying to come back to their so last year, they won the super regional against Oregon state and this year they've got a couple of injuries notably max Meyer. But they just haven't had that same magic. So that, that is now along. Long road to come back. Hey, something else happened yesterday, timber wolves made some news as they will be saying goodbye to all of their assistant coaches with the exception of one of Melik Allen. But what is, is that should that be a surprise where once, you know, that you are no longer the interim coach? Do you say I wanna make this? My team put my stamp on this. I don't know who had what to say about it. I do think that Gerson Rosa's will have a lot to say about these things. And I do think this is just my deduction, watching him the press conference the way operates that he is going to be very much in every decision that's made in every decision that Ryan makes you know, they say it's a partnership, but I think he's I think he he's in his mind. He's got to got one if he loves this stuff. So, so, I was, I was surprised he'd never know how that's gonna turn out when Sistan coaches in terrible for assistant coaches. In every sport. Because head coach is leaving these, you know, some form of a golden parachute assistant coaches, it's not that way and now this late in the game hope they all contracts for next year. They get paid on because it's late in the game. You can't just find work, and it's a difficult thing that one coaches son I've seen that twelve year old fee numb on was just a great basketball player. And okay. You know, he's going to be great basketball player wherever he is wanted the next school in India, and you try to find a way, and then that's just tough stuff shortly before you join us, we had a conversation with Phil Esten from Saint Thomas, it became official yesterday that the Tommy's will be involuntarily removed two years down the road from the AC. We touched on the idea of moving up, or, or perhaps, being approached by other D three schools d two schools. Give me your thoughts where the Tommy's go from here. I well fortified do they've got money in that, that's a big part of it. And they've got location and, you know, I it's up to them in terms of what they want to visit to be what they want. They lum. That'd be I think there are semi ready for this, if they go to the I see they have what you call natural traveling partner protesting cordy university of Saint Paul, at least in that conference going play games consecutive nights, and they want you close proximity wise as possible. So they've got that Naga standards leaving that league. So in some respects to say that makes some sense, the division, one part of you had to be in division, two for eight years before I go to one some people think that there's a Piel process that you might be able to win under duress. When you kicked out of the league is different, obviously. So maybe they'd have a leg to stand on. I think that they'll do something I don't know. But I don't see I don't see the stance league division. Three but the team from Wisconsin, and now and then you travel into whitewater along places for everybody so that works really well coaches that doctors at my schools were pretty upset. They wanted to Saint Thomas in the league. And that's why I I don't know how this went down with the presence and whatnot. But I think that Saint Thomas ultimately, we'll be a winner in there, somehow I think that they're going to, you know, estimates division one experience. He knows how the game was played across the country. You know, there was a budget expenses. No sense. It's you have to do scholarship school, but I think that this will probably ignite their alumni, don't donor base. And they'll do something big with it. That's what I think will come to. All right. Well, we will check some more sports with you, including, perhaps a change in an NFL rule. That will I'm sure most definitely will make the game faster might so we can talk about that in our now. "We've done a show on a Stephanie something we should do a show on. Frankly, it sounds really intimidating like if I'm a Bank, and I have a machine learning model that's issuing alone. And I don't know how that model has been trained. I don't know exactly what data sets it's been trained on. And then the model is getting version over time. There's different versions that are getting serve to different people. I'm going to have ABC Esten going on. I've got this insane tree of past decisions. And then if I get served with a lawsuit from somebody who says I got discriminated against on November fifteenth at two pm when I applied for a loan. And I'm like, oh my God. I have no way to know which version of the model was deployed, then I don't know which one was AB testing. Then I don't know I do have to get their IP address. And then like map that IP address to it. So you have all these issues around audit ability. That are becoming more and more relevant and as the loan. The loan example is almost a trivial example compared to what we're going to be dealing within the next couple of decades when you get into like healthcare, and like real time things that are going to hurt people and hurt people in real time kill people in real time. When you're gonna be like what line of code was to blame for that. And you're like, oh, it was the machine learning model that made a judgment, and we have no idea like why it made that judgment. So with all that said, I don't know take me into the shallow and of the rabbit hole. That is Joe donors opinion on machine learning audibility. Yes. So obviously, this is something that we deal with every day, and is a big part of our value proposition. So I buy thoughts on it have sort of been developed by that position that we're in.
