"The sharpest mind and tongue and boy state, its heart and soul belonged to Steven A fellow nationalist party member. Stephen becomes an underdog in the race for governor, the highest elected office. Like Rene Steven stands out. He's the son of a Mexican immigrant, and he counts Bernie Sanders among his political heroes, his humility on the campaign trail and his stirring honesty in front of a microphone. Prove irresistible to the crowd. Again and again, he invites his fellow party members to tell him what issues are most important to them so that he could be a better truer representative for their concerns. We see these young men debating a lot of issues, especially gun control. There's a lot of talk about protecting the Second Amendment. But there are also counter arguments from students like Steven, who have clearly been shaken by the sheer number of school shootings. Another much discussed. Issue is abortion, which leads to one of the film's most revealing moments. A nationalist gubernatorial candidate named Robert, who's running on a strict pro life platform. Admits on camera that he secretly pro choice. Sometimes you've got to say what you've got to say in an attempt to win, he says. That's politics. Indeed, it is. And while the filmmakers are working from a mostly neutral fly on the wall perspective, their attitude toward the boy state program feels ambivalent. At best, Deliberately or not. The experiment seems to bring out a lot of the flaws of America's political system itself. Personal attacks, dishonest tactics and conflicts that hinge moron popularity than substantive policy debate. It's undeniably inspiring to see so many young men with bright, engaged minds and the best of them, as we see from the end of the movie have already gone on to impressive new accomplishments. But it's also dispiriting that so many of them have already learned to view politics in the most cynical way possible as the game to be won by any means necessary. Tibetan Yoga for Health and Wellbeing
"Hi, Allie welcome to the PODCAST. I'm Madeo. Thank you very much for having me. I'm really excited to talk about we haven't had anybody on the podcast that is speaking directly to yoga and breath work in the way that you teach install very excited to have you today. Thank you I. You know excited and I, Love Hey House and. That last book of Tibet. The newer for health and wellbeing. This is my passion. So yes, excellent. Excellent. There's a there's a number of things I'd like to talk about with you today including your. Your advice on integrating meditation and Yoga into our everyday life and are busy schedule as well as your work with Yoga and breath work in a clinical medical sending including with your with cancer patients. But I, I like to ask you about how you got here how we got here with you, and maybe we can start with your own yoga and meditation training under your revered teachers in Nepal and India. So can you give us a brief version of of how you began your studies to help us situate where you're learning has is coming from Sure sure. Emmy see how brief I can. So really when with the Tibetan tradition, it really started when I in my first trip to India in nineteen, eighty nine. And I was really looking for teacher. I wasn't sure if it was going to be an Indian teacher Tibetan teacher I was more familiar with the teachers I did get to meet with Yuji Christian motifs of not the famous one JD. Wonderful Yuji Chris for more and more. And then some g my analogy, and then actually when I met the two BETTON SAT in La. It really started inspiring me and particularly the way that. They had this devotion to the picture of its own is a Lama and I have to admit I didn't know too much about His Holiness yet. But then doing the trip. It was when he was. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize I was actually cashier at that time I remember reading that in the US favor now it's like Wow so happy a give my mom. My Dad had been awarded the prize and and and I said, I need to meet this man. In fact that evening they showed on the Indian TV. Heart of Tibet. That I la that was actually the forward or was by pressing Carter. And I. So I went from touch me to down silos where the Delilah was. It was. During that time, he was the fortieth anniversary of the children village. That's the first time I saw him talk. Then I went for you know a public interview and I kind of. was trying to be there as much as I could and at the same time I got my first. Personal teacher, which was you should origin. Bodies, Yogi. And he was particularly into the tradition of true and. Whether he was the Weatherman for the Dalai Lama. and. I started training with them I. Did my longer with him or started the non right ended up seventy slater finishing That really led me to come back towards t Tina where I'm originally from. And really start devoting a lot of time to practice and then was in ninety one that. I, I met a number no group chain that he came to Argentina I nine, hundred ninety and I am Alejandra can I can I just mention here that that sort of what you're talking about a little bit is that when the Tibet you mentioned that you met the Delami in in in northern India in Dharamsala. And this is after for our listeners who don't know the when the Dalai Lama a came into exile when he left Bet in one, thousand, nine, hundred, eighty, nine, he and about two, hundred thousand. Refugees settled in the northern regions of India and where the Dalai Lama lived was Dharmsala, and so that was one of the first places that you went to in. That is sort of this hub of the Tibetan diaspora that is sort of surrounds the Dalai Lama, and then eventually Tibetans have gone of course throughout the world and there's two. Betton. Buddhist. Centers throughout the world and so you were kind of a beneficiary. You came along in nineteen, eighty, nine, nineteen ninety and started studying with some of these teachers who weren't only in India around the dilemma. But who had gone elsewhere you mentioned non-pwi Norbu Rhumba Jay who had gone to to Italy, and then there were other centers where you were living in Argentina. Yes, and so I. I did consider you know for for some time Don, Sala my second home I spend many months there. And that's where actually ish adorned pitches monastery wall. So. As, you said Dharamsala was this hub and I really considered my second home. I spent many months there intermittently going from there to other places and back, and that is really were you had his monastery and and. So meeting the Dalai Lama and trying to be as much as possible with them. But also really having a personal teacher like you should was really important to me so that when I came back to Argentina that I felt there was no one there in luckily I was wrong was a small. Karma Kagyu Center. And also kind of a unique center the first teacher I met when when I go towards. Metering And then Nunca Norman as I mentioned the Nunca over pitcher was a big change for me. In the way he taught. So the Tony Brooke he brought the teachings. Into everyday

"I guess sir, in a hurry to make an example because real takeaway from the story is these red necked. In North Georgia mountains, they're the reason they don't believe in the virus I think is a hoax and their anti mask, and that's why this is spreading. That's the way. There are two things about that though yes that's what they're doing that through they're using. That's less than there. That's the lesson they're teaching one hundred percent but I also think that this is a mechanism by which they're getting people to test. Oh, absolutely. Yeah and that's how you're getting this huge surge because if you have seventy million kids in this country and every and say half of them are school age going back to school in and require tests or two thirds of them. That could be fifty million tests right off the bat and I would say out of any fifty million people. In any sample anywhere in any period of time, he would get up to ten million positives whether there's any illness or not. I don't think they're testing all of these kids I. Think they're I think they're basing it on a small amount of tests and it's exposure that requires a quarantine I know that in Texas I think it was it was if One person and seven or so had been pool testing I think it's pool testing is what I think is one person would have been tested and everybody is is made presumptive positive I. Don't know I think. Maybe, the doing pool testing, there's a lot of lying going on here. Oh yeah by the testing, but what they want is a high number of tests. So I don't think they're random sampling kids and saying, okay, we have three kids who were tested. One was positive. They're saying they're thirty kids in this class. We are counting that as thirty tests. And however many positives I think they're probably they're probably. At. This point it is. There's a lot of evidence. Let's say it's anecdotal for now but it is coming from everywhere that they are calling positives win people haven't even stayed long enough in the long lines to get the test I've heard four different people attest to that personally. So that's definitely happening. So I wouldn't put it past them to say here's a class of thirty kids. We're putting him in the pool testing the thirty came up positive were not then what they're supposed to do is take. Every one of those thirty people and individually test them. My guess is they're not doing that at all plus it's happening too quickly it would be three to five days lag for each step in that process. So they're probably I assume or I would guess that they're gonNA take all thirty of those and call them a thirty thirty positives. Yes and that kind of collides with the narrative that Atlanta's new hotbed that Birch has been worried about and I think we will continue to hear more about Georgia being. via hotbed of political activity. Pier 1 Import Transaction - What We Can learn From It
"Super committed to your success online. We've worked with them to a special offer just remarking school listeners. All you have to do is go to dream host dot com slash marking school to learn more and get your website online today. Welcome to another episode of Marketing School. I'm Eric Su and Neil Patel, and today we are going to talk about something really interesting. That's happening right now while we're GonNa talk about the pure one import transaction and what we can learn from it but we. A little context here as to when recording this. This is July twenty, second twenty twenty where still in the midst of Covid, and so what's going on as a lot of these companies retailers are going bankrupt. They were already shaky, and this was basically nail in the coffin for them. So they've had to basically liquidate. Neil. I'm sure you've looked into this deal a little bit. What do you know about it? Can you kind of pay some white as to WHO's kind of spearheading this as well? Sure. So there's a guy named Alex, ooh Zeus Anti Lopez. Many guys know about the guy has a. Car. Garage union, it's at. Times really smart. So ty ended up techno was but a lot of people look at Thai Guy who's pushing Lamborghini, and there's not much more to. What ty analysis decided to do was leverage on leverage. Our audience gets a ton of investors in go out there in go leverage their audience and going by these struggling e-commerce. First one they did was dressed farm about her pennies on the dollar. Now, the buying pure one, and then from there, they turn around the company's make him grow at the fat. And you got a really solid business in part, audience built brand lowliest do the bat and off. Yeah I mean, if you think about it, it's it was initially, they agreed on a twenty one, million dollar deal in the pure one came back and said, we want thirty million. So I think it's a thirty million dollar deal now, but to Neal's point, it's pennies on the dollar, the work de Sweat equity that's been put in over the years and years. They don't necessarily need all the retail shops anywhere. You take the brand, make everything. Go Onto ECOMMERCE. You'RE GONNA go. So, you're going to print money what turns action. It's super simple. It's effective and I wish more people thought about things that way a lot of people want to build businesses from scratch. The hardest part is building easier. Part is growing muscle were marketers cutting back in grown company has already a billion dollars revenue. They're not fall role while. Is it okay by for pennies on the dollar, you cut the fat and made two billion anymore, but they slew one, hundred, million. So that really amazing business, right? I was listening to that yesterday. So Nike originally, they were slated for their online revenue to be about thirty percent for twenty, twenty three. I at the target now is fifty percent. So the already shot past that. So a lot of stuff is accelerated. Yes. We know that they're not getting a lot of offline transactions, but would this basically means if you look at shop advice stock a lot of stuff ECOMMERCE which is accelerating. Yet, and before this year roughly percent of online transact commerce transaction rebound online that. And sure after cheers Emmy going down a little bit, but it's still gonNA. Be Way higher than where started. Yeah I think at least one of the lessons from me here is you have to look at the Times what are people used to right now, and is it just a business model? tweak where you remove the retail component? The you know the in store component and you just switch it to online and boom. You're you're good to go. 'cause people are tied to the original kind of appear one management team might be tied to hey, we should keep the stores people stuck with doing things the old way by once you remove the emotion from it wants you just be used a objective and you think about it from a business perspective everything changes anything else. Let's it in the last thing you should take away from pure wants to Techn- idea something as donor to book by its cover. A lot of people a judge tyler. This guy is in smart steam

More Shows To Watch If You Liked HBO's Watchmen
"We're GONNA talk about recommendations. I for the long haul and these are things that we are either current or in the way back and there's this you know the. He is like when I sit down to try find something there's so much going on that I spent like an hour being watched I don't WanNa Watch. That should do this and it's like I, just want someone tell me what to watch. That's what we're going to hear for. Yeah. So we're GONNA basis off the some of the nominees for best show in the emmy categories I start off with HBO's watchmen as from Damon Lindelof this set in an alternative universe and drafting off the ground and comic book watchmen is It's like this dazzling procedure designed to also make you think that twenty six emmy nominations, the most of any serious. Like NERF gun to your head best show of the year. What would you say? Oh, it's watchmen watchmen to me like for limited series. So it's an a different categories, but I would even say it's better than all dramas on I. Think. So it's it's crowning achievement of TV this. So for sharp for me, I'm I'm thinking of like I want a show that looks great. Visually also will make me think. So I I wanted to go directly off of Damon Lindelof because I feel like he's kind of peak of his powers right now. So guys are wondering like other stuff he's done and I I can't think about the leftovers it's a similarly. It's a great show. It's alternative universe incredibly well, made really thoughtful but also like very simplistic in terms of you applying it to your that feels like watchmen felt current but also set in a different time. And leftovers current but also sat in a different times. So I love that the weirdness of the masks in watchmen which was so precious. So yeah, it's it's. It's phenomenal the other one I was thinking of when I want to. Recommend a show in in that Washington vein I'll say Black Mirror it's close enough. It's not really narrative based. Yeah. It's vignettes and different standalone stories, but it's kind of an alternate. Reality it looks close enough to realize that you're not sure that it's not. Yeah. But it's also telling us some darkened weird stuff about yourself. And the good thing about Black Mirror is to watch it. You're not watching it in each episode is its own Y'all episode so That's will put like some of our own favorite episodes that we both have really loved that we can include in the note. So you don't have to wonder because listen that first episode it's Just you just need to skip it. Hear me if you don't hear anything else if you don't hear Jamie doing the weird change of momentum at the beginning of the show if you forgot that already that's okay. Forget it. Here me this do not watch the first episode. Mom Don't do it dad don't do it much mom don't do it nobody do. It. Would be a mistake. Okay. It's a for me. If you love watchmen where you're like, that seems like it's good. Let me tell you to other shows that are good. So on that flakes, you can watch Jessica Jones I chose this because you got strong female lead just like you have in watchman, you have a superhero component which you also have and Jessica Jones it's dark. It's Gritty the villain in Jessica Jones is played by David tennant in that first season and he is per faction it keeps you on your toes. It's also very you're very to the visuals also recommending legion. Hulu. That's weird. Right because I think when you watch watchman, you're like I'm confused. Limits where you're like I, need to watch this again. Being, existing Ip it makes you think should I know that and I can confirm I. Didn't know. And watchmen I would sometimes read like recaps after I. Would Watch an episode and that would help me catch things maybe that I didn't grab the first time with Legion stars Dan Stevens? Famous playing. Matthew on. Downton Abbey He. It's a done by Noah. All Superhero Jason because this is the story of professor x his incredibly powerful, mentally ill mutant sign and so it's it also stars Jean Smart who is also in watchmen man she's in a Lotta. Golf that she has very good taste, and so it's weird enough that you're like It's not that classic Superhero which is what I also like about watchmen if we had done if we'd time traveled and done a designing women saying draft Jean Smart would not be my. Number. One pick would be any pots it would be we'll for private. Not. It be any pods, Anthony Delta Burke Julia sugarbakers. dixie Carter lab next to last over Jean Smart. Yeah. My point here is everyone would have been before Jean Smart Jean Smart was second. I'm going to be in Sweet Home Alabama and you're not going to know what to do with the low key cares. Okay.

A good place insecure Kaminski method. The marvellous, Mrs Mazel freak and what we do in the shadows. Now wait a second. What we do in the shadows. I am not familiar
Interviewing Bucks' legend Marques Johnson
"And it's our Pleasure to welcome in a two time Emmy Award winning bucks. TV analysts a five time eh, NBA All Star. Did also play at Bella and won a national championship. That's Marcus Johnson here with us on the Zach Yelp show. Marcus appreciate the time How you doing? I'm doing bills. Everything is no good. All can play good benefits in basketball family from your lips to God's ears. Can't wait to see what's gonna happen in the N B. A bubble. I saw video back in February, You were wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey and you actually threw it down in your road. I'm still dunking at 64 years old. Have you been dunking at all during the pandemic? Or was that a one time thing at 64 district Cream donuts, Bad eye. You must have been nervous, right? Well, every year on my birthday, I do a dung just to see if I could still do it. I didn't plan on doing it this year. Just chill out at my son's a SIA. All over social media. They have got to do it contingent to the one in Sydney one in with that inside, And so, of course, I did a couple of warm up to feel pretty good and And we decided absent phone brought up two tackles. Omar, you know, taco fallen. Whoever jumped over him, Aaron Gordon. Whoever dumped over way last year Next year I'll be 65. That's the official retirement age. I've been retired. I'm Travis. You have to do one more 65 years old. I gotta pay the bed after that. I don't blame you. I don't. I can't even dunk right now. I can't imagine being able to dunk when you're in your sixties. Marcus Johnson here with us on the show. When we look at this MBA restart. We know that the Bucks are the best team in the league. From a record standpoint right now they're going to be the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. The's eight games inside of the bubble. What do you look for out of them where they could really ease themselves back into playing shape? The annex a great question. I was just kind of pondering that looking at the books. Play that scrimmage against neworleans the other night and You know, I just don't think that teams should put too much into the eight. Feeding games. It's a gradual buildup. You want to be planned your best basketball. Obviously when, when the playoffs start. This is such a weird. Praise the different type of experiment. Probably guys. And so, um, you know, see positives from the brother. I've seen not good things about in terms of Kind of fighting since, um, some difficulties against the product in here tonight, but, you know the season games Because boom Jose lost compete. He's gonna want these guys to come out and and just so effort show competitive competitiveness from Paris. But I'm not sure about the ones. The won and lost record is important. At this stage of the game. It's all about kind of a slow, gradual buildup. I've been exploding wants to play all secure here. When you look at the team from last year to this year. What do you see is the biggest difference as they even got better from what they were last year, which was impressive. Well, I mean, ways that it rest values that they're so what he has done that He's given Chris Middleton a breather at defense. Can't Chris I was just looking up Christian defensive record 107th overall, 22nd ranked small forward LeBron and collide As I said at the top. But Chris doesn't have to get all that energy trying to beat this Great three and the win. Clare and I could focus on his office and I was a result becomes one of seven or eight guys who was Trying to suit you both 20% from the three point line, stick to the set plus from the field and monitor it from the people that I think a 20 point today. Yes, I think that's direct benefit to Chris Middleton. Eric Bledsoe also, let's not forget him, Master. He struggle big time last couple of years in the playoffs and honestly, stuff a big farm of the playoffs. Uh, this year, he seemed to be a lot more comfortable in his basketball scared now. It is kind of getting a late start based on tested positive and them in quarantine and all that stuff. How quickly he could kind of get back into a rhythm and flow going to be a big difference. But today I think this team has gotten even better, but local tradition of Robin Has really been a great great move. But John forced our president breaking Robin Lopez, and now we've got two bent beak gets standings and leave so I think the defense has been even better than the great detective team from last season. Marcus Johnson here with us it Zaki help show on CBS Sports radio doing a little bubble breakdown on the Milwaukee butts nationally. The big question about Chris Middleton is. Can the Bucks win it all with him? Be in the Bucks. Second best player. He's a two time All Star. Give me the local feel on that. Our people still concerned locally about Middleton be in that number to peace and winning the championship this year. Right here is where you go. I could go to a barber shop in the hold of the brothers give Ah, little about depended on Chris have the huge games but In terms of inside basketball people, people that have watched Chris closely like myself. I really believe that Chris, it's all about his confident being an all Star to the second consecutive D up really? Helps his belief in himself as being one of the elite players in the league and kept in one of the shooters in the league. And you couple that with the fact that he comes back, he's getting guns for arms and get this definition I've never seen before. His body status. Probably way dog looks really good, really in great shape of the Kalpoe talked about his explosion and bounciness coming back after the four months off was really, really surprised. So he's really putting the work that during this time off to come back and make himself I've been so on. But with president mentally I think that way you get tomato last year, the average with just 14 points in the field, and he left. How Laurie, pending for a big cheque of those minutes in that six game lost to the crap. You have to be enough to love. So you've got a lot to prove, but I think Based on what I'm looking at changes of his body where he is physically brave is right. But I think he's ready to make that statement. When I look at the Eastern Conference, I really do fully expect Milwaukee. To get to the finals. They were in that one seed spot last year did not get there When you look at the Eastern Conference this year, who's the biggest challenger for the Bucks when the season resumes tomorrow night? It's really interesting. You get him some. I think three really legitimate. Even the Miami that mix also, you can't count out exposure and then the butler as your lead gap, but I think there's still a little bit godly hero of none. And guys like that. And then he began by making just a little bit young and that, Betty, but I really believe that Celtics man. I mean, people talk about the Raptors, who I respect about. Nick Norris is a great coach. Brad Stevens was great, but one through four in terms of scoring and issues and problems. You know Jason Taylor planted Kemba Walker is the number one option. That's two through four group these guys to produce and I think about taking on like the game, and that's the most since that Golden State a couple of years ago, but most just like second most 1995 in terms of looking for and then when Gordon Hayward is your fourth option, going going home. What is your fourth option? And then we talk about a container my greatest been, but then this Dylan Brown watching his footwork. Watching the lip bruised stands the finishes in traffic. He's a guy that could be a real problem for team like the book had been. The wild card would be market smart. Distant Jabba, even though Marcus Smart Sixthree export out of 16 11 Marcus Smart office of players and we know how much she just underneath their skin. And so he's a guy that has given me honest as much trouble as anybody scoring effectively and officially against it, So I said that and then the two big catch I mean the pick and roll for five hours straight that Boston life's run. Those two guys found business cancer, pounded it inside a greatjob getting into the paint and score of them that I'm not gonna puke my shot and roll that movies have private medical himself. I really believe that Celtics to me that they're not deed. I think both those four score that they have been a lot of pressure on the Milwaukee ways that do the Middleton. To defend at a high level every night in order to be a minute in a series.
Emmy Nominations 2020: How Diversity Fared in This Year of Racial Reckoning
"ESO The emmy nominations are in and things of course, different this year because a Corona Virus Leslie Jones hosted the nominations from an empty set and she said they flew her in on a private plane to ensure her safety also. So that's how the announcements were made and this year. There were a record number of black actors who were nominated. It was a one hundred into acting nominees this year across lead supporting a guest categories and thirty five of those slots went to black actors. So that's a huge increase from last year. That's great. I'M GONNA. Tell you something them. What they should have been doing. But yes, I'm happy for those people. Right, and so let's talk about of the people who were nominated. Now, I love the Yvan Orgy, of course, posted herself on her instagram page, and that was her telling her parents that she was nominated for an emmy for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series for insecure longing. I got nominated for an emmy. This? This goodness and me not even. I don't know. Nothing to do the big one. Pill. Luta von orgy very well desired man von Orgy is super talented. She fills that role of Malaita. Enroll of molly is becoming like a a a cultural figure in black television. So salute to molly man. He, killed that road. She had me mad of hair for real in real life. I. Was like you know what is wrong with you? motionlessly, we've been emotionally invested insecure for a few seasons, and that's when you know you got a great show and you get emotionally invested into these characters.
How to watch the shows with most Emmy nominations this year
"For the 72nd annual Primetime Emmy Awards route. Jim Roop has the result. But because of the stay at home conditions amid the pandemic this year may be an enemy's first the first time most Americans were actually be familiar with all the nominees because of the desperate searches for binge entertainment, friends and family suggesting shows to watching people actually having time to watch the happening. TV networks. Shits Creek is among the best comedy series nominees as our HBO's curb Your Enthusiasm and insecure So Netflix is dead to me in the committee method. Prime videos. The marvellous Mrs Mazel is on the list again, along with a good place from NBC and what we do in the shadows from FX. The Emmys will be handed out September 20th
Getting Ready for the 2020 Emmys
"The Television Academy has just unveiled the nominees for this year's edition of the Emmy Woods Nichols Fernando Augusta per checker and colossal rebelo went through the list and brought us the highlights. Let's have a listen. Pelada. Lovely to have you here. Let's talk about the AMI's but first of all, I mean, you have quite an experience with the amas right while I was very lucky last year while working out of our Los Angeles Bureau to attend the ceremony last for the seventy first. Edition of the Emmy Awards it is amazing. It really is a celebration of all things television not only of course, you're able to see the ceremony yourself and how it all unfolds that the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, you get to sit right next to some of your favorite stars as they celebrate you know a year worth of work you get to watch as some of them lose some of them when at last year was quite. Special because it was of course, the last year that game of thrones was nominated the end of the saga of game of thrones, which was, of course, a really big deal and one thing that I really liked about that was also how they marked the series that were coming to an end last year by bringing all the cast in the production team that was attending the ceremony on stage and kind of acknowledging any TV show that's on. Air for. A few years it is a bit sad one. You know the last time modern family was also the last. So it yeah, it is. It is quite an experience. I mean we are still a few months to go until this year's edition. Hopefully, we'll be able to have it in person by then by September the television academy still hasn't exactly unveiled the plans for that. But yeah, it just feels as much as it is A. Celebration of television it feels very different to watch it in person than on. TV. Sets and if he's going to be a special year because I mean we've been watching lots of television during lockdown effing and one of the things don't you grieve me. Colada that I like about the Emmys they are. You know what they are actually fairly diverse compared to the film awards and that just shows TV can be actually quite progressive away. Absolutely I think. The nominations this year as well. Reflects that diversity is well and yeah it does show how TV has been able to catch up with only momentum that has been happening in Hollywood about asking for change when it comes to diversity. But even if you look at the shows that are nominated or even just a shows that we're watching now they are reflection of different stories that are a reflection of different themes it's not as standard I would. Say, for example, with the Oscars and I think that's what makes it quite an interesting and exciting. Well, let's talk about some of the favorites I did like sheets Greek being nominated for comedy series of things surprise it started as a very little Canadian series but then apparently people saying that my win actually because the critics love it oh, it is a fantastic show I definitely has been one of the ones I've been watching this year and I was very happy to see it getting nominated for the outstanding Comedy Series Award another one on that category that it was really happy to see their it's the kaminsky methods. This is a Netflix show and yes, it is very lovely with Michael. Douglas starring in it and it is very funny as well and it was so nice to see you know it. They're in the category as well and I just I was very happy I. Think. As we were saying the nominations this year do justice to the TV. We've been watching I mean drama succession I know we're both big fans and you know Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong both be nominated for best actor in a drama series very well deserved extremely well deserved and it is, of course, we're talking here about a big categories. As if you go down the list, there are more awards being given to all the shows we've been mentioning. Not Awards, nominations I mean. But yes, I was very, very happy to see succession I think personally, it has been one of my favorite shows over the last few years I can't remember being dad excited about a show in succession was already nominated for Fiore's last year. I. Know that Nicholas Brutal do who composed the sound score for at won an emmy last year. For. For the score, he composed for succession that would be nice to see it how it's catching momentum and that fans quite disappointed that due to coronavirus sat filming restrictions. The third series did not come out this year as planned but this is a recognition of TV done very very well, there's been other recognitions for example, the morning show had quite a few nominations. And again, it was a show that it was not like loved the beginning by tics but I think people kind of were said, you know what actually was a good series especially the last episode of series. So another one I'm very happy also have very significant for apple as well as the morning show was you know the show that apple try to use as? To make its mark as someone that could compete with the network giants and streaming giants as well. So not only is a very good sign for the a seeing Jennifer Aniston Steve Carell nominated but also to see apple when they've been investing into the right series hiring great actors, great writers, Great Producers, and that it actually pays off and Collado. So what if Jimmy Kimmel? This time I mean, as you rightly said, we don't know how ceremony is going to be, but you know what bt awards they did try and they did like a special ceremony. Names might have to do that because it's happening on the twentieth September. That's very the as the television academy has said that the creative emmys, which you know the creative emmy is usually happen a few days before the Primetime Emmys and they've already said that those are happening on an online platform a few days before didn't haven't clarified yet for the AMI's themselves. We still don't know exactly what are the plans now? What is interesting about Jimmy, Kimmel here hosting I think it's his third time hosting is that he is nominated as well. His show Jimmy came alive is on the outstanding variety talk series, and there's always very endearing one. You know one of the host sometimes even people introducing the award end up being nominated. So yeah, I'd be curious to see exactly how that's going to pay out I don't know. was there any surprise nomination here on this list for you? Fernando as F- in the morning show was A bit of a surprise for me and also in the drama category I mean, we saw men hurriedly having quite a lot of nominations itself Jeremy Pope for his role in Hollywood for a best actor on limited series or movie because Lotte I think competition program should go again to Rupo's drag race. Oh Yeah. His love rapport figured they will he would win again just shows how you know when Ru Paul's drag race started. It was a very Niche not known at the public, and now they've been doing this for over a decade now, and there's just shows how you know there is an appetite for a show like that that it is mainstream, there's no way you can't say that anymore and is so empowering it is, of course, one of my personal favorites as well. It was really nice last year to be there when they won and to see Europol come on stage with a lot of the. Of the show as well and some of the judges when we look at that category I'm partial to and I would love to see them winning again on that category.
The Obamas' production company fetches 7 Emmy nominations

"That's not good for Hulu I guess or not good for that show individually at least, but I was really surprised by that, Mike. Were you surprised by anything else that you that either made it didn't. Well. I was happily surprised by Zendaya because we talked about how it would be great if they did think about her on this podcast, so now do believe that we have the power to bestow nomination surprised when I'm the nation's. I just want our influence. Think about that for quite a while. I was bummed about the better call Saul Stop. I was bummed about the great. You know it's a small thing. I guess but I was really happy to see bad education in there which I watched because it was on Richard and cams list of the best movies so far this year and I still hold out hope that it will somehow figure into the Oscar is somehow as well in this crazier, but that's a really great watch on HBO if anybody. Hasn't checked it out and. You know I was I was hoping for. For more curb your enthusiasm nominations, but at least it got it got comedy series, but I but I I don't even know. I never know who's going to be nominated I, just actually just like the shows that I like and like to see them. Get rewarded, I don't understand how the handmaid's tale in stranger things and Marvelous Mrs as will just keep racking up gigantic quantities, but I'm happy for everyone involved and I hope that they're enjoying their. I'm sure Wellard success. There is some interesting overcrowding and some of the categories like succession I think best supporting actor has three contenders of the six actors nominated both big little lies. Nominations are up against each other and watchmen watchmen I believe has three supporting actors all up against each other, including both versions of hooded justice both age ages of justice in the same category best supporting actor in a limited series to me. That's sort of interesting. It's like going all in on one cast. Seems to be kind of the order of the day especially where the HBO shows are involved. Yeah, in the comedy category is there's another example of Witherspoon Syndrome the good place guy ton of nominations across the board, including for much of its cast, except for actress. Kristen Bell, which stays at, has she really is the heart of that show a lot of ways, and this is. This is a show that I think was a slow burn in terms of TV academies attention. It didn't really start getting noticed until the last season or two. And now it's up for a bunch of, but I wonder if it's going to be possible to break Mrs. Maes little stranglehold on comedy because. The, Academy really, Dunstable, love rewarding the same things over number. I'm just happy for Katie rich that Jeremy. Strong Gut nominated since that was basically the only thing for. Christmas this year L. to the OJI wasn't fortunately out originally. Travis. Brad, Pitt for playing Dr Faucher Oh my God via zoom for three minutes weird nomination. That I mean I like I, said L. is where the academy puts a lot of its political feelings and does feel very political there like how can we show our support for the actual? The actual Dr Anthony Fauci. Let's just give a word to Brad Pitt. Normally I would think like they want Brad Pitt to show up and walk the red carpet, but there's not going to be red carpet. Not if she has anything to do with it. See Insider Brad Pitt's house. A second time feels like the rest of us. There's a lot of star power I mean Meryl Streep and Hugh Jackman nominated for Emmys the same year it would've been a barn burner of a broadcast potentially, but now we're just gonNa have to figure something else out I. Don't know if you're ever GONNA get Maryland Zoo. Special? That's different. The in particular have been criticized in the past for nominee in the same things over and over again that is just one of the pitfalls of series television I guess, but also for diversity, and it does feel like this year. There was an. A concerted effort that bore some results to pay attention to performances and shows that. Were you know outside of the older white purview of you know a lot of the academy and I think there were some successes. They are obviously you see kind of agreed things where violet. Davis was not nominated for the last season of how to get away with murder. And things like that, but like elsewhere I feel like there was a lot of stuff to be happy about whether. It's you know day or you, von Orgy. Or. Watchmen getting so many nominations How does that feel to you because I feel like you as a TV critic are doing the most. Look at this. Week in week out, does this emmys feel any worse better or much? The same as like ones in terms of diversity and representation. I mean I was saying to. I don't know if this is too hot for broadcast, but I was saying to Hillary earlier that I sort of feel like the Black Ish nominations were white guilt manifesting because it's not the show you with think was sort of at the end of its like awards contention run. Of course, people really liked Tracy Ellis Ross Anthony Anderson, but I think the fact that it broke through. Indicates a sense of I. Don't know if they're actually is enough diversity in these nomination. I mean succession Ozark. Really White, casts both those. I saw someone posted tweet that said both of my favorite families got nominated, and it was a picture of the succession dining room table, shot and Shits Creek. Group photo and I was like. Yeah, this is really interesting like I do feel these two really big emmy winners like the a bunch of people in both of those cast got nominated Danley gets right nominated for acting writing and directing, but both of these shows are about very white families like in a very white place and I think that that's what those shows are a ballot, so that's that's fine, but I think that there is this broader awareness perhaps of the fact that the industry just doesn't have the same opportunities. I think like HBO to its credit has put both watchmen and insecure very much in there. Like for your consideration stuff they were like we really want these two shows to be things you think about you know green lighting a show whereas days the lead. That's another kind of incredible thing I. Mean I think Netflix's best effort was in Hollywood the Ryan Murphy show which didn't get. A ton of attention, it got a few nominations. You look at their other shows. ozark the crown stranger things Kaminsky method dead to me. Those are pretty white shows, and I, don't know if I don't know if that is a reflection of what the academy is watching or gesture or a reflection of what they're putting out there, but I think it's kind of I don't know. I don't feel as great about it as I as I have past..

"I'm the chief critic. Richard Lawson filling in for Katie rich. Who is off getting ready to host the Emmy's which means is a big day for her. Because the nominations were just announced and helped me talk about that. We have our digital director Mike Hogan Hey Richard Senior. Editor Hillary abuses allow and the woman of the our our television critic Sonia Seraya Hello Sonia. I know you just got done writing a snubs and surprises piece for us so I'm curious just off the top of your head. What was in your mind? The biggest snub or surprise of these twenty twenty I mean nominations. I think for me. The biggest surprise was in day getting a nomination for euphoria. I felt that euphoria had been totally right now by the awards watchers, and then seeing her I think it was the only nomination and got was was pretty exciting and lead actress, which is a which is a competitive category. The biggest snub has got to be Reese Witherspoon, not getting nominated for three different shows kind of shocking to be honest, but yeah, little fires everywhere big little lies and morning show all of which got nominations for other people, although big little lies, probably not as many as they hoped for but recent get any. Yeah and the thing with morning show must have burned that much more because not only to Jennifer, Aniston nominated for best actress, Steve Carell kind of surprise, nomination for best actor, but also mark dupe loss and Billy, credit in supporting. Cast cut nominated and Short Martin Short Guy Yeah Yeah I got nominated for it I mean. So. Yeah, not not a great morning for reese, Witherspoon but you know, and the big little lies disappointment certainly. I'm sure it was felt acutely. By HBO, a lot to celebrate in the twenty six nominations for watchmen, which was the biggest show limited or not of the year at these nominations I also feel like the lack nominations for whether students, great motivation for a reese witherspoon character. I? Think that she again feed off of this energy to you know. Maybe she'll make a project where she plays like this tightly wound perfectionist. Who is? Challenged by unforeseen circumstances and everything in her tightly controlled world. Start spiraling. This is all there will be a little bit out of her range I think. Shot. Yes, I, think that like. An example of someone who might have somehow split vote, you know where some voters were going to go for one show in the other, and so are just weren't enough for anyone performance, but that's kind of belied by the fact that someone like Maya. Rudolph got three nominations to in guests. Comedy actress. One in a voiceover category Angela Bassett got to minimum nominations. Nominations there were a lot of double up, so so reason I getting anything I don't know maybe spoke to something else. Who knows what that might be yeah I was also really shocked to see Bela. Lies didn't get that. Many nominations me Laura dern Meryl Streep both got acting nonsense other than those were the only two major awards that it was noticed four. Yet somehow, the handmaid's tale was also aired over a year ago at this point and had. A third season that I thought was big debt from even the second season I caught a ton of nominations, which was really surprising to me all of the main. In it including Mir widely in Bradley Whitford, but that was that felt over representatives me, which was sort of surprising I know that the envy's light to dominate the same things over and over by especially at a time when that show last season feel so far in the rear view I was shocked to see you get recognized match. Although Elizabeth Mazda and get an automation which is kind of interesting. Yeah, it's really interesting that Samir Wiley and probably went for broke through the academy's attention, but Elisabeth Moss. For some reason I guess it was a competitive category. Yeah I think that what this year was marked for me. I mean we did our predictions post. This week and I think we did pretty well. I did the comedy stuff and a blind spot for me was black ish for some reason I thought that it along with some other shows where maybe going to get cycled out of getting the nomination year after year I was wrong. Anthony Anderson Entries Ellis Ross. Perhaps writing a high the high note, wave got animation, but there were also new players like insecure did way better than I think. Some people thought it did not only for research. Research the lead actress, but for best comedy, and for you on orgeon, supporting like that was really exciting, and I wonder you know. We talked about this a couple of weeks ago about Academy voters in quarantine. If it gave them time to really like dial in on quote, unquote smaller shows they hadn't seen. Do any of you think that? Did you see any of that? Potentially in play here or was there some other factor helping to highlight these shows that haven't gotten quite the nearest past allender. Quarantine bench Washington could be by what we shadows managed to break through. Month is a surprise nomination in the comedy category for facts or effects on Hulu or Disney or whatever that we're? At this point in time, it got three in the comedy writing category. Which is you know? Sweeping category that was that was also surprise. Surprise job especially. I think a few shows that debuted at the beginning of quarantine got bumps like tiger king with at six nominations Unorthodox which I guess we'll sort of at the beginning of the year, but was still kind of right in the mix when the pandemic hit us and I think I was surprised to see sheer hoskins nomination. I just didn't think people were talking about that show anymore i. feel also it's possible that Linda Cartolini maybe edged into the the nominations because of quarantine watching that to me. I think I think all of the streaming shows. Get a little bit of a boost when we're stuck indoors in love is blind structure reality category seem. Definite evidence of this phenomenon as well so you can you help me understand what happened to? Better Call Saul I know we? We feel the pain together. Here got an automated for best drama, but Bob Odenkirk no, Bob. No Rea- seahorn, no Jonathan Banks eight sort of feel as if the academy thought last year was year if it was ever going to be, it's year and then when it didn't break through more it I feel like the momentum may have passed it, which is too bad because I think that this past season wasn't incredible. But I don't know I mean I sort of struggling with it myself. You know there was another breaking bad snow, which was Aaron Paul for El Camino, which was very well received made for TV movie. You know whatever it is. I think it might just be that the breaking bad universe doesn't feel new anymore, and they were always playing without risk I guess. He needed. It's interesting you know because it did get nominated for writing, which is a strong indication that the academy likes what it's doing, but couldn't couldn't make it into the acting categories. I think also you know that being an AMC show I don't know if it's related, but you are seeing new or players emerge I mean Disney plus got really surprised. Best Drama nomination from the man delorean Apple TV was well represented not just by the morning show by Octavia Spencer getting a nomination for her show on that brand new streaming service. QUBE got I think ten or eleven dominations, short-form things which is. A billion dollars gets you I guess, but but that said that narrative might be belied by the fact that the great show I think all of us thought was going to kind of turn up in a lot of categories got almost entirely blanked Tony McNamara a nomination and writing, but I was looking. It didn't even get production designer costume design nominations rain directing. Too. So..

Or whatever how everything ended up was fucking disgusting my fault but also it was it was just. It was just fucking gross things that we wanted to eat in the things. We didn't want to eat. Just became this big fucking disastrous mess and. I like sure to let us. Okay I I get your issue with a kind of with the Double Burger. I think it didn't bother me as much but with a single burger. Maybe it would it kind of went. Maybe it kind of made the Burger a little bit more wet and sloppy. Yes and it it. It actually eclipsed the Burger in my. I couldn't taste the Burger until I got rid of the lettuce and this is I think the plane burger is like a perfect food. You don't have to do anything to it anyway. Yup and so you and I both got doubles. You've got a single and then we also got a couple of other sandwiches. The first one is a specialty. They have right now. A seasonal item that Parmesan Shibata Golden Chicken Sandwich. This is a breaded Golden Chicken breast sandwich between age artisan Parmesan cheese sliced tomato lettuce and a housemaid. Basil Pestel Ailey on Parmesan crusted Shibata role. There's a gish word that you taught me Ami Hunga Patrika and that was what which which you can do a better job of defining. It's it's like something excessive or over-decorated that has like a few too many things going on and yeah that's sandwich was like. It's like three different ideas too much stuff going. I definitely it was like this is Patricia. That's the way you know. What if you're mention how that's good right? Okay we'll go on. I'm going to hear you might be a redneck thing. I'll never do it. Please do it. If you're a Parmesan Shibata Golden Chicken Sandwich. Also has a Basil Pesto away. Oli You might be. It is so to hear that word in a southern accent. It's wow I feel like I'm on. I agree Apopka I give it a third. Pasha much visited the regular chicken Fried Chicken Sandwich. The element that I would lose if I was going to lose one thing because they've got Parmigiana Parmesan cheese chicken. No they've got. They've got parmesan cheese on the chicken. Patty and then they've also got a Parmesan crusted role. It's just too much. Parmesan is just too aggressively. Mommy right now in the the Aw tuna fillet is the other one. We got it as a dare. We kind of felt like we had to. It's described as I was gray tuna with a Teriyaki glaze. WanNa say this you have to get the He Tuna Burgers and I was like and then I got up there and you really thought that you're going to get the double burger. You can have a bite of mine and I was like. I'm not just getting the I. Tuna Burger you free when you said you were going to get it on. Yeah I ordered it for the table. But you said it you. I was trying to give competent convincing in your performance of saying like. Oh Yeah I'm GonNa get that that I believed it. You sold it thank you. It was a good performance. I appreciate that however what am I best however the Ahi tuna fillet left much to be desired. Yeah I I think this one. I think you'd be rejected if I try to bring it back to Quincy Bay. It's fucking discount. It was it was really gross. So it's not a great not a great piece of fish and the after taste was putrid having the clearest most damning review of that sandwiches that you didn't want to bring it home to your cat like I. I was nervous that my cats would eat it and get sick or something. I was GONNA puke. Shis put one rod up or button one Rodney mouth and then no ass wiping for Mitch. First of all I. I don't do these things with my cat. Experiment on the cats. I didn't think I don't make fucking human centipede with watling. She's probably like a feline centipede. If I'm part of it I guess it's probably still like humans and you're thinking you can take the middle segment. I might jump on the caboose. The front cat eats the tuna. Yeah you know the rats we can go back in. The two of them are the front. You've got to cat- assholes trained into your mouth. I'm picturing shaped like the letter. Y and you know what they're fine. They're enjoying themselves. What happens the you you made a point of how the habits Burger was a little bit Burger King? Which nick and I have talked. Burger King's back. It's doing well right. King is back urgings back. It's at a comeback. The can't I will I all. I will say this eating that. He Tuna Sandwich. It felt like if you took a burger out of the If you took the upper patty out of the water and just slid in like a poor piece of fish. That's exactly what it was and I was like. This should have different. It shouldn't have shredded lettuce and should have like maybe just like like some sort of leafy butter lettuce or something. I anything else not shredded lettuce and then it just. There's gotTa be other alterations to. It was like to dipped in whatever. The sauce was a marinated in some sort of because they did have sure. Oh God fucking suck. Sushi grade to is just offensive. Yeah it's IT'S A. It's an insult look up by ordering it. We fucked up. But it's on the menu and it's there for a reason I think it's like it's worth trying and it's good to know that it's it's it's really bad. It's as bad as you think it would be. I will say that they had you mentioned not having shredded lettuce. Yeah I think that might have helped the Fisher so bad that I think that's just the it's it's you can't overcome that but they did have holy flesh. They have green leaf lettuce on the tomato sandwich. The chicken sandwich. They could have used that for this. It would have seen seemed a little class trashy. I will say it had Teriyaki glaze which I did not get it all. I got no hint of Teriyaki from that. I just got like a straight like rancid fish. It was a very aquarium flavored sandwich. It tasted like the aquarium smells. Yes yes so. We did not have great with the protein between bonds however we didn't have great experiences with those variants however we I think the sides pretty good French fries sweet potato fries onion rings and Tempur green beans. We got all of those. We tried them all Fraser. Very lightly salted. But they're well fried sweet potato fries similar assessment onion rings. I thought we're we're we're high quality and that ranch dipping sauce ranch dipping sauce. Their generous with it to those onion rings reminded me of Burger King. Onion rings show just the ratio of redness to onion. The onion is barely perceptible. I don't think that's a bad thing. Yeah I thought I thought they were a nick and I had a big conversation. What are you dip in your onion rings in nowadays? Yes Nikki ranch. I've gone onto I've got onto the ranch side of Israeli for now the main dip for onion rings are this is a point. This is a district it feels like it should be like adobe doboy dateline not Dateline Adobo is an investigative episode of Doboy Deep Dive. What's what's a good Hashtag for that deep dips Dean Hashtag. Tash deep dips. Are you rings ranch or on the Ketchup train? I feel like a lot of times if you'll get them as an appetizer at a sit down chain ranches what. You're getting with them. But I think a lot of people do dip them in Ketchup size. I would assume catcher but still most popular. Are we just going to overlook mustard completely? Feel like this is such a false binary. Sorry no.

That shellfish is a lot less expensive right. It's like it's it's expensive but it's it's more abundant. It's because it's their the Atlantic Ocean is of is rich with. Yeah oh I like raw clams seafood tower. Sorry I we've moved on. I just don't want to get any any Depart let me tell you I. I'll drive. I'll drive in. Quincy will drive down two walls and beach. I'll walk in the water. I'll come up with a couple of lobsters for us in your hands. Snapping fingers ran out of your fucking walk in. I'll come up with a whole seafood platter. Foia whatever you want lives. I don't think you can I can do this. There are places on the south shore. If you go early enough you can steal clams and eat them yourself. That's a very Boston. A Boston. Pastime is stealing claim really early in the morning earlier than the Fishers Cow Tipping Mitch. I don't believe that you could steal that you could get lobsters out of the Atlantic Ocean but I do think that you could kneel by stream and swipe a salmon with your paw. He's saying I'm a bear your Beerman I wanted to ask a this about. We're GONNA say I'm GonNa fucking Grizzly man you your mommy. And then they're gonNA play. We're going to pick up on these microphones and Emma is going to hear the audio and then tell. You must've listened to this horrible. I'm dying and coming back off by stop. Murdering I had a question. Now I love my brain You know what I wanted to ask this lobsters and as someone who likes cold seafood the thing and I feel like it's divisive. Hold on a second. Yes all right. You don't like hot seafood. I like hot. Seaf- seafood resist grow sounding no. But I'm saying Emmy specifically says. She likes Seafood Tower. You like ah children while I was going to say it like that. I'm sorry I I'll I'll dog a tower right now. Do you like the divisive food item. I feel like as the lobster roll. Do you like a lobster roll. I love lobster roll. I didn't know that was a divisive. Item is this. This is some weird bullshit. What are you doing? How's IT device? Here's what here's what happens. A LOT OF PLACES. I feel like us a small quantity of lobster or a cheap product with a lot of filler. And then you're saying like bad lobster all I'm saying outside of New England life cereals. Outside of New People are like like lobster rolls. I loved her. Always A rip-off here that opinion a lot. Maybe that's exclusive to the rest of the country but maybe England made me new. England hasn't figured out but sounds like this was started by lobsters themselves. That's the rumor they're passing around. Not enough loves it. I feel like I thought on this. Yes as a new Englander. I should like the cold zero but I kind of like the warm lobster with Butter Connecticut style. I think they're both good old light bulb of the idea that they're expensive is because they come in a hot dog Bun and I think people naturally compare it to a hotdog maybe unconsciously. But it's not like a terrible deal picking this stuff out of a lobster. Takes a lot of work right that you don't do? I've had some. I've definitely had some good ones. But there it's a hit or miss thing and there are some places where it feels like. It's a big rip off Let's talk a little bit. Let's shift away from the ocean. The Ocean thank you. Let's shift away from the where we're going to see. I WanNa talk about Dunkin. Donuts a mass staple Mitch. Obviously you have a strong allegiance to it. I think it's one of the fast food breakfast. I like this picture of Mayor. P With a donut. Not It wasn't even. I haven't even see that either. There was a picture of him with like a much of Dunkin. Donuts or something boy was he trying to be like a man of the people that the idea. I guess so. I don't know I don't know what he was doing. That fucking Buchan rat. He was like holding them wrong. He's trying to put them around his wrist or something to love to donate. I don't know why I think of him as being robotic. I'm not even sure that's like thing. People think about him. No He's kind of an Automaton. Yeah I mean. I'm much more lifelike than mayor. Pete Yeah you're kind of like Bishop from aliens right and he's a WHO's the first one in Alien One. I forget I forget who it is in home you know. How does it Ian Home Home? Your home in home is e home without. It's what singular. Yes in hole in home in home. The whole time wartimes anyways. He's like union home right. You're like bishop clarify to go in home things around me. Do you like Dunkin donuts very much. Yeah Yeah what. You're there for donuts or for just the whole menu did talk me through all of it. Okay okay okay so I do think the breakfast sandwiches are pretty on point. The English Muffins in particular. Don't leave you feel in two shitty. Which is a plus I got. I was at an airport early in the morning. And they gave me one of the impossible patties on a breakfast sandwich notes. I thought it was great. We try to get the snoop Dogg one on the road. Yes we snoop Dogg donut. There was between two. It was between two glazed donuts. That's a luther. That's not a snoop dogg whilst stolen it and yes dogs vary and I believe us the impossible me. That's why he gave. It is okay. Yeah Luther wouldn't liked now yeah. I think it's Luther Vandross right okay. Yeah he wouldn't like that We didn't we couldn't get it. We ended up getting and I and I and I did. I did enjoy but I thought that it tasted a little too. It tasted a little vegetarian but also we. This is a very middle worry. What was that like on the way to Cleveland? I think goes on the way to Detroit. We're in the middle of literally nowhere. That's right we just need a gas in. There happened to be at Dunkin donuts. I think yeah and it was it was it was okay but I wanna try it again. I I I want to try another world when you know you've had a long night or something like that. Yes and that's a great announced late night domino's like that that's a that's a good sandwiches are all day. I also the donuts. I like the Bavarian cream one. And this is something. Okay we nick and I are working with Someone whose husband works for I hop and the game has been playing his. What would you invent it? I hop given the chance to contribute like a new menu item. Yes and I think it's cream injections injects anything with. I agree with that interest great. That's a great thing you can cream inject your waffle or you're paying case. Yes you get the SYRINGE. They do it in the back. I haven't decided what do you have stance? I think that it's possibly too dark but I think that you having a in a syringe. A lot of fun. I mean this is. It's tough. It's tough away. You'd have wanted to not be sharp because if kids would want to play around with it so actual needle pastry pastry accessory. Yeah I think they should do. They should yeah. I feel like that's the thing they do in the kitchen. But it would be fun to choose which of your cream-filled items you would have. Yes I think you could go wild. I think one of them could be Nacho cheese easily and different styles of Different types of items that. You could chew because French toast. They feel like would be very solid. The French toast is the is the they really ihop. Has They Really Frankenstein? These these French toast things more than anything else. I can tell you my issue with stuff. French toast was that is really bad name because every French toast is stuff. Because I'm stuffed when I eat it in home home home Sch- attorneys-general they've been saying it wrong. This time it's Sherlock Home Emma. I think you've Boston be once again. Which is always embarrassing for me because all the quincy guys can't find They they don't think downtown crossing. Wow that's South Korea Texas once I was looking at the Celtics score. It's behind me. Jalen Brown has got hurt. I just know so thou through me. I like Jay. It's been a chaotic start signed expand. But he's as my one of my favorite Celtics Star. We're GONNA find a plug to start off this to start off the damn show. So here's the thing I think you in last week. Show and and Emmy knows a little bit about this because I've mentioned it at work but we had a little bit and certainly everyone is heard it by now because this is week later but it Seattle you had some real adversity that you powered through. I wasn't there for the star of the show. You carried it yourself by all accounts. You did a great job. I'M LISTENING TO EPISODE. Won't but but this is like a minor thing in comparison to that you could take the absence of the court a little bit more in stride. What are you talking about last week? When you weren't here was more was tougher so I should be looser NAMA support. I feel like the cord like it. Really put you in your head and we emma very quickly solved at you found some batteries batteries batteries. I got some footage. You do your piece of Shit I was here. I thought you were here. I was pitching ideas. I found some batteries. Yes it's fine. The court was not that big of a deal is a quarter. Because I don't know where the court is. You hit it somewhere. I would I do that. That'd be self destructive. I don't know I. There's no explanation for the coordinators beer. Spend a Lotta time cleaning up this place. He got mad at me when I gave you all the shit that was yours. Yes so I got here and there was just a large pile of like I'd say trash that you were that. You said that I had to take home. You have some people on the road okay. Well it was just kind of in a big pile of lawn. Yes exactly what? It was like a bitter divorce all that stuff. That's yours it was just here. Yeah I'll take me. I'm taking it back back. I've been cleaning up this place and then to not find the court. It just makes me go a little nutty. Okay get it yeah. I just feel like you've got a little bit stressed out and I was just going to say you've you've handled worse situations and I think you're going to be fine here you go. We're GONNA core. Yes we're going to get a new chord interesting down by mass general I guess is is one but then did you say Harare's Herrera's is maybe the one that that that could have been thinking but I fucked it up. I have had in as I've had it once or twice. I know that believe you know you don't did. I take you to legal seafood now. You didn't. That's a classic about legal seafood. I mean take it away I mean you take it away like it's a refund if I never regina it's just a classic Boston seafood place they it's it's good. There's one airport airport at Logan So you can go. You can get a bowl of lamb chowder. Before you. There's seaport that has four levels or something. Very menu on each floor is that that's not. That's there's a test kitchen now. Is this the kind of place you could get a seafood tower or for sure? So they've they've got everything and it's like a sit down place. It was on the list of things that we could have reviewed while we were in Boston when people were suggesting places. Obviously Pizzeria Regina. We were going to cover. Because and that's your favorite But we also had the five floors bay. We'll let PIZZARIA REGINA I'd love to go back not for the podcast just to go and have a lovely meal. Celtics game together afterwards can put your arm around me. Let me tell you in those seats. Tiny gardens eats. I would have my arm around the entire game. I've never been to the.

"It's like here's old television telling you all about the new television glee in twenty four. You know not that long ago like yeah they used to be in the mix for things and some of their comedy certainly arrested development but yeah it was like this is us. I think is is is one of the few things kind of keeping networks in the Emmys the good place a little bit as well but like I just yeah. It just felt this kind of like complete. I mean granted also very Murdoch and kind of its shameless dislike just concession to like the yeah we're not. We're not you guys anymore like we're this now and we'll show your award show but we're not that's a whole different thing. That's a bunch of like you know. COASTAL SNOBS JOBS here. Here's the meat and potatoes for everyone else who I don't think was even watching the Emmys it reminded me of you know we excerpted back in July a book an oral history of the shrimp rise called the method to the madness by Allen Salkin and Aaron short and it's so crazy and sort of darkly funny they talk about the escalator announcement and you know according to these people at least they were all very self aware about the fact that it was going to be totally repulsive and disgusting to millions of Americans and they were excited about it it and that kind of was the vibe that I got off the mast singer thing stock just being like Oh my God. I can't believe they gave us the keys to this thing for one night. Let's just be as disgustingly gusting Lee Fox as we can because no one can stop us but I am looking forward to the reveal of magic because I understand it's Kieran Culkin and Lachlan Murdoch together Tarija the rare double mess one of the other like weird show elements of this to me was Z. Game of thrones tribute and then later the veep tribute they kind of broke up halfway through the middle of the show and Joe and I was talking to you during get about how dislike incredibly awkward it felt like eulogize game of thrones especially because Bran Isaac hip to the right was not on stage even though he won the game of thrones joined well. How did that strike you yeah. I don't know I don't know how the that went over with. You guys where you're watching but he did not seem to go over super well in the room. I mean okay. Let me let me be fair. There was I think the first Janney ovation of the night was for the game casts it was really fun to see Gwendolyn Christie get the largest share of all from the crowd but she looks like visibly surprised by that too. It was really charming. It was very sweet and I'm Clark got a big cherishes as well but you know the the setup up for it self just seems a little off and odd and the lines that they had to read about the show seemed a little stilted so for viewing audience is at home. It seemed seemed a little off kilter and then especially when thrones made kind of him I mean is it fair to say was a muted showing when they won best drama I think so because they had an opportunity to win so many more awards last night and they didn't so they picked up the prize English. They picked up the top prize which which you know I don't know that I can argue with whatever my feelings were about the final season given what it meant impact wise to division but they lost just out in in crazy to me that beauty which is still the only actor to ever win an Emmy for thrones and four times you know so to me it had the weird like ring of of that it was less about celebrating show for its artistic merits which you know technically the the emmys are supposed to be doing and more about like you made us so much money and now you're going going. Thank you please only kind of thing like it felt a little sweaty Eddie in that way and veep too to the tribute to a lesser extent you know I'm sure the economics of that are pretty good too but like game of thrones was a a global phenomenon unlike we've seen in a long time and and I it felt like they were sort of thinking they're they're king you know or something who was who who was retiring or something it felt a little bit like kissing a ring. I don't know did it did sit strangely and and you know again to go go back to the HBO Party for All Games runs wins like it was not as celebratory mood. Maybe as as could have been one also leaks since game in the monster wants. This game of thrones went off the air. It feels like it's been off the air forever like that. Last season was such kind of a mess creatively and like the d the discourses got so exhausting that like having you must feel like all of them coming back and say like Oh let it be over like I want to move on with my life. It's you're so right. I was just I was just thinking that actually and I think that it's it's because the season wasn't good. You know I think people just got left with it really squandered so much enthusiasm and excitement. It's too bad I think in the long run will look back back in and admire the show but I think there's a long hangover from it. Just being such a letdown. I think there is a sour taste for are a lot of us who covered it and who watched it but I did hear from people who were on the show that they were all excited to see each other again so I don't think that they that they themselves. Ellsworth like Oh can't believe we have to do this. They were excited to go there. I'm sure excited to have won. The biggest that at least is not a full embarrassment for them. You you know what I mean. They like walked away with that but I think for. I agree with you guys for all of us for me who has talked about game of thrones almost nonstop for years. I have not wanted talk about it much for the last few months you know or even talk about entertain ideas of of the prequel series that they're doing because I was just like I need a break from Wester Astros please. You know which is why why we can be so excited about something like fleabag because it just felt so fresh in different and new and exciting and deserving of all the awards it got so that was that was my takeaway from the night with the exception of meeting. He gave the thrones winning because I feel like everything That was exciting. Phelps deserved everything surprising felt deserved and then there are a few rubber stampers like SNL worms like all right fine in you know as terrible season last season but it always wins his category so fine. I know you stand ozark Joanna so well. I unloved Julia. Garner is true and Jason Bateman Jesus Beam in one at I don't know if you guys have seen the slow reaction of Jason Bateman money but it is a thing of beauty 'cause he is. I'm sorry Laura Linney is like what is Laura Linney is giving but but but you know that was a result of three entries from game of thrones eating each other in that category I think so yeah but I'm always on the lookout out from that for that Mike Z. Raised US on the podcast couple years ago that ideally the double threat or the triple threat or the celebrity director of the celebrity writer and it really does seem to shine nine through the Emmys such an irresistible figure for that because she's like so what she has made it so good. She's so charming. She's so interesting to talk to and light to like like look at her and be like you just made this perfect thing. You want to just throw out her. Do we want to talk about the Michelle Williams speech yeah. I always just wanted to ask what other victories victory that we felt like. We're like universally good and Michelle Williams having an emmy something we can all get behind too yeah and I mean I think she made made really good use of her moments Richard. Yeah I mean. I think that you know obviously She didn't thank us but I think the fact that we had our in. The podcast is what got her the win. Obviously I think I feel very comfortable taking credit for that but yeah. I think like you said you were in the lake. In a show that felt you know very sweet goods. You know Nice speeches very happy. Michelle Liam's came up there and actually did say something about you know pay an equity especially for women of color compared to their white male colleagues yes and and and and it felt S- pertinent to the moment and it also I think recognize that like something like when they see us walked in in that theater with eleven nominations and left with I think maybe one or two I mean and draws Rome one but like you know like I think that there was a sense of of disparity in the broadcast last night and and even know Michelle Williams herself as you know a white woman who's been you know famous for a long time in his was was arguably one of the bigger kind of quote movie stars in the room. I think it was great that she used that victory in that platform to sort of mentioned other people in the room either kind of indirectly it felt it felt really good. I don't know Kinda righteous and the audience responded in kind and I also felt very per bull personal Michelle Williams right because because as she mentioned backstage there was this pay equity scandal around all the money in the world where Mark Wahlberg got like one point five million and she got a thousand dollars or something thing like that to do so so that was a personal thing that she went through an experience but also topical to the the piece of art she made because this show was about Gwen verdon like getting her moment in the spotlight after being overshadowed by her creative creative partner but bossy so it's it was a really good marriage of it didn't feel sort of out of place. I will say that while I really really appreciate uh-huh Tricia Arquette said that that one did feel slightly out of place but like I'm not GonNa be mad at her cat for stumping for Trans Rights on stage of course that's great but it's not it didn't have the same organic flow that Michelle's speech. Did you know yeah I mean billy porter also kind of took advantage of his moment. I think I think I think the status at he's the first openly gay actor of color to win the best drama Emmy. I feel like there has to be like he might be. The first openly gay actor quoted when any emmy. I don't know that anyway anyway it was billed as a history making moment and I feel like he really kind of stepped up to that moment speech yeah and it was also billy. Porter winning is so interesting the fleabag bag windsor interesting like and then you have on the other side of things like Mazel you know vowed sporting winning again and Tony shillue winning and you know I felt probably Tony Shalhoub won an emmy every a year for a decade for monk which actually went three or four but but there there is a really interesting bifurcation between what you would kind of assume to be the traditional conservative. Have you know we just hit the button for the name. We recognize kind of voting and then this other stuff. That's really interesting I just I. I don't know that we'll ever know the answer to this question. Shen like just a different kind of part of the academy. That's voting for things like billy. Porter and fleabag or are those kind of impulses whole says existing within individual member..

"I mentioned are kept waiting for the act continuing in her resurgence here so really been stronger and even as she said in her speech you know I'm fifty years old doing the best acting in my career but I'm still mourning the death of my sister and she made a plea for Trans Trans. Women Are Trans People in fact just to get more jobs and to be honored to be recognized as regular people so our cat speech. I thought was strong. Reporter also propose some good memories memories overall from a show which like I said joy didn't think it was a great show necessarily but didn't think there was lots of surprises and oftentimes. That's a really good part of the show. I think that honestly saved the show this year. I thought a lot of the bits like the opening bid with Anthony Anderson saving the EMMYS. I thought a lot of those kind of fell flat even when Barunholtz in my Rudolph came out after having surgery. I also thought that it was kind of awkward even with my Rudolph's amazing time in so I'm glad there is something to keep a kind of entertained but at what did you think of Thomas Lennon as the commentator. Do you think those funnier now. I did see a lot of people tickets shots it. Let's I think that's a tough shot. you know if you're a clever one liners. I didn't think it was funny. It was different but no I wasn't really in favor of you. yeah. I thought I thought he had some good quips lips and jokes at the beginning but then it kinda started to fall flat the further the show progressed but I did really like Bob Newhart and Ben Stiller that whole bit of found to be very funny. Oh yeah that was great yeah. They did this whole bit where the honoring legends the past so they had Lucille Ball and George Burns Bob Newhart still alive is there and ends up telling bench that I I didn't know I hated you in Tropic Thunder. Not that was pretty funny as well definitely I agree that that was definitely a good moment but like during the fact it's the golden age of television would have thought there'd be some more memorable moments. But what do you make the factory my buddy. Max Brito previous guest on Sin Fouls text me saying you know the Emmy Stink honoring a bunch of shows that nobody watches but I think looking them for quality writes a fleabag supposed to be this good. This is the beauty of an award show is giving love to show that should be seen by more people and because these emmys I know I'm certainly going to watch an episode or two and I think more people will right yeah. I definitely think so especially phoebe Waller Bridge. You know this was kind of per coming out party. I think more so than the previous year's sleep bag is a show that I've never heard anyone say anything bad about in this kind of solidifies that yeah it was definitely memorable night like I said I feel bad for Julia. Drivers use with the combination having overcome cancer having won the statute every single time that would be enough to win the award but unfortunately does not come through any closing thoughts Joe. I think we've done an emmy recap that suitable for now yeah closing thought keep tick tock off the stage of the Emmys that Kim Jong Bit. I could've done without that whole thing I do love. Kim Jong previous guests on Senteci- came to ESPN once he's a really good guy he was great in the Comedy Central Roast of Alec Baldwin but yeah that was that was not one of the stronger orbits the night was her favourite speech for you like Porter for poses emotional Patricia. Can I thought was pretty good. Israeli other speeches that stood out to you Alex Bornstein for sure because she started started out funny but then she just hit this really really positive note at the end to end had the crowd cheering. I loved that speech was very good and like I said I'm so happy for Shillue even and as he started his speeches and listen I know people hate when they start reading notes and giving up names and stuff and I gotta do it pulls up. The notes posted the glasses so hey it's your moment. It's your emmys enjoy it once again. Thank you so much of checking these special emmys recap. We'll be back on Wednesday of this week. A review of Brad Pitt's new film ad Astra once again. Please go to apple subscriber rate and review. Give us some love that until then I'll see you at the movies compete..

"We're maybe close to the end of it any other big categories you guys are excited about any bold predictions you WanNa make I wanNA talk just a second about reality host. Oh yeah that's right because you know it was exciting. I believe it was last year that Rupaul Charles One and drag race one for reality competition program and that was very exciting you know after like almost a decade of of kind of guerrilla cult support for that show it finally broke through the the membrane of of public consciousness is <hes> and this year Rupaul is likely to be nominated again alongside Allen for her really cruel game show where she makes people do stupid things for money and laughs at them. <hes> it's really it's really like it's like it's like bread. It's it's like something got ancient Rome. It's it's crazy. I had no idea yeah it's sadistic <hes> Jane Lynch for Hollywood game night and then interestingly Amy Poehler Nick Offerman for making it which was really cute kind of you know I don't know what you craft series sort of and then well they're just listed as queer eye and then prince for queer eye like so the the the the Fab five would be nominated as one unit and could potentially upset Rupaul or whoever else <hes> which you know. I don't know so that that narrative I think is kind of interesting you know the the emmys were slow to diversify their reality categories and now they're <hes> you know they're actually rewarding stuff that people seem invested in which is nice. I just don't know why Jerry Condo doesn't have more Emmy Buzz. That's a great question. I actually just imagine what she could honestly. I just like to see her on the red carpet. She'll be there anyway but but do you think she would like hold onto her statue or get rid of it. That's crazy thing like handed to somebody on the stage like let it go from her life. Well as I said we're going to be back to talk about the nominations as they come in a next Tuesday Richard Joel. You'll be off in Los Angeles <hes> receiving your Emmy. I believe is how that works so yes so congratulations anyway. We'll be back to talk about all of that hot and in the meantime you can find some fanfare dot com with <hes> the emmy predictions from you guys that will be going up later this week as well. You can find us on twitter at little gold men and on our own I met Katie rich Richard and Joanna Jerus-..

"We are back. We're talking. We're recapping. The EMMY experience. We want you guys to feel like you were there with us. Yes, she were. You were and Michaud Michelle and I did all these things. Some of these people. It was a great experience, but it was weird for the Amazon a Monday night. I'd never got Sunday one. I don't know. I never got to the bottom of why it was on a Monday, but hey, listen, if you're going to give our show an award. You can have it on Monday any night anytime you want yet. Now we're up here. We gotta stay up here bitches. That's right, right. We owe it all to you guys that that listen to us and watch us in in love what we do, and and the hundred and forty the one hundred forty queens out there in the wild now doing their stuff every day and every night we see you, we love you and we can't thank you enough. But my favorite, I put a picture up on as like my banner on Facebook. I think of that one where you're like holding up all hungering. Yes, because yes, all shows are happy when they win amazing races, one, five thousand times voice one last year I'm talking about reality, but it's so funny that first of all grateful to the academy for having the reality competition showing in there because no other reality has it's the only one the company in the in the primetime Emmys yet they usually a lot all that stuff to the creative artists. No other reality competition. I mean, there's no other like real housewives and all that stuff. They're not up for Enron. So it's only reality competition, and I still think there should be one for best judges or judging panel, but okay, we'll work on that petition. My favorite thing was I go to really get presented our thing by Rick and Morty like we got because nobody gives us shit about our category like we don't get a star, although Rican Morty are stars in their own right. Ask glued crate, but at the end of the day, our category gets presented by cartoons. So when they said it coming up, you aren't there. I looked at Carson, I go, are we is our category getting presented by cartoons. He was too busy playing fortnight on his phone. So he he's like, what? Oh, I think so. And I note I said, you're not sinking in that cartoons are presented like Beavis and Butthead are giving us in ward. I just thought it was really fitting that, of course, that would have to our county, right? So Carson Daley is playing fortnight on his phone the whole time, not the whole time, but at some point, the awards do get a bit mundane. So I think that. Boys will be boys and their toys. And I said, what? What are you doing Carson? What are you doing? The complaint fortnight. Are you kidding me? But it was really a funny moment. So right. You know. I just say this the whole week was quite Adrain because you listen, you know, this is a company town, and when I'm going out to these parties and you do the same thing, we are shaking hands kissing ass suck and Shan law. He's gotta do just to get our names out there. So people will consider us for other job. I'll and it's harder. Listen, y'all listen and can be like, okay, you're rupaul right? And that's exactly how I feel because it's a lot easier for Renou. You went through years of it not being easy for you. That's why you are where you are. I'm still having to lick the balls now. Normally I just ignore the balls really. Again, I've been married for so long balls don't matter. Yeah, and the older they get the harder they fall. So for me, I'm still having to pay attention to the ball because people don't. They'll sale that girl. They don't know what I can do. So I'm still out there like really. Okay. Everybody on you. You guys all the all the big stars are doing the same thing..

"He has no idea that we broke for the border and he still stuck in the party on their homing may happen, and then finally turned around, oh, and he hangs up on and we all run off to the street. Oh my God. I couldn't get out of there sooner because by that time and that I don't know what time of night was that was at midnight at now. It was. Eleven eleven name even ten thirty. I had been on and talking. Yes, all day yes along, yes. So for me to sit and wait for someone to drunkenly try to take my picture, you know, almost got you want anything in Mike. I'm smiling the whole routine. I've been doing it all day. You have to. I could not get out of that part of it. Plus Lorne Michaels had just annoying keyword John. You're done sprayed with only one. I was a Lorne, Michaels. Skunk, holy water lifted his leg and you're done, meanwhile, okay, the creative Emmys where the week before on the Sunday before. So I went to all those parties that party and then the party's the weekend before because that. Okay, the EMI that grownup Emmys was on Monday, yes. So on Friday night, I went to the w party entertainment one. You want Tandy with. I went to variety and then it went out to the CIA party. All right. Danced for about forty, five minutes with Ben day, my eight, my other agent and had a great time. He's fun. Yeah. Then Saturday night, I didn't see him at the Emmys. Ben. Are these Jonathan? Yeah. Then Saturday I went to, I may have the days wrong, but I went to the BAFTA Afghans hardy with Tandy. You did want Saturday. You did with Tandy Sunday, you with your friend? Yes. So that's why an you? A gifting suite? It was downstairs at the Emmys. Oh, okay. Okay. Because the of the gifting suites in, you know, very well girl. They've been busted. Well, this is the thing. The only gifting suites that are really worth any Oscar. The motherfucking Oscar sets the other one, something at the Oscars are something some year. I don't know what it was. You ever do anything? No, I went to the Vanity. Fair party. You did something years ago years ago. I'm talking about when we were on the radio together because you had a gift bag that you got from doing something. Maybe it was MTV something and you gave me a bunch of your stuff from your. Gifting bag. Even I remember I remember Bruno's I'm ju on the way he knows. I love that shit. And the first time we went together, we went from me. Yeah, I only went. I only went 'cause Michelle with love. Yeah, serious. He gives me everything. I love it. My husband's always like go to the gifting. I brought lily last year in the problem with them is like literally the one for MTV had vibrators we'd an alcohol, so basically, well Lilley was like, can you get me wanna move? And I'm like, so mom's going to have to pose with jibe rate, right? Because when if they give you the gift, you have to pose as a celebrity if to pose with look what I have. So they could sell the to the person who owns the divide, the comfortable you can basically whoring yourself out, showed us uses vibrate. Yes, and I said, I won't buy a vibrator. Yes, Adam and eve very good, and they send it nondescript boxes. That's ri- Goethe Adam and eve and get your vibrators. Don't make your mother pose, but I don't smoke weed. I don't smoke cigarettes. I don't drink alcohol. The makeup is sometimes. Okay. Sometimes there's purpose. It's not worth me getting all dressed up and being out for a free if I asked him like pleasure out of being a Horia. Yes, I'm all for, yes. In this situation, it was like nut now. Well, listen, we've got more stories from the front of mind worries. The front of the EMMY showdown will going to take a break. We'll be right back after this. Everybody's talking about these Boll and branch sheets from the Wall Street Journal too fast company fours magazine. Everybody asked me about him. Are they really soft as you say they are? They absolutely are. They are the finest most beautiful sheets and they're not as expensive as those, you know, those crazy prices that you can pay for sheet like up two thousand dollars..

"We're talking about the Emmys. Wow, what a night by the time it was done as you know, a Saturday Night, Live Lorne Michaels. Produced this year's EMMY telecast. So at explains why all the Saturday Night Live people were in attendance and in the show host were because it was funny. Listen again on the saying kiss Emmys ask because I got no, no asset need to kiss, but being there and I didn't watch it. I was there. I laughed it many, Joe. Yes, that those boys did. Yeah. The news boy, so it's dry wit. It's really sarcastic and dry wit, and I liked that not my root can do no wrong in my book will you know she was originally supposed to be in our skit, but they cut it at the last minute. Well, the ski that ski the skit was cute young as fine. It was fine. Yes, she did her thing with Fred, I wanna talk about the after party. Well, I I know where you're going. So let's do the first moment. Will you? 'cause we went to the Netflix, Netflix party, I, but I think we got there kind of early. You think so? Yeah, because I heard that the Popo shut it down. Right? So we left at the right time left. We got there at the right, but I tell you some about Netflix, bitch. They don't play around. They had a full make as you want sushi bar like it was not no pigs in blankets. Sushi bar really nice stuff. We ran into Tommy Dorfman and Catherine forgive me length leg for. Yeah, further Langford, one of them from thirteen reasons by love Tommy. So it was lovely seeing them and then alyssum Latta was there with her hubby. David, then we, we grow from dear white people. Alot game frowning. We love her. She, that girl is so beautiful. She was with her momma? Yeah, Fred Armentony and castle, Leon friends are friends of, oh, no, we got to meet with the big ball, his head flicks yet. Ted say his name show. It's it's a Greek. Let you say serandon does not Sarana Serena's. Okay. She's gonna look it up and because we'll say it wrong. Lovely wife for that was great. Jeez, that's Randolph. Yeah. Say Randolph's UC set it right. I've been saying that Sorrento's. No, he told you there was no d. you said Ted Saranda. She were right. Oh, no. He said he said no day. He's he's in love with the d. he loves the d I had her, yes, it a big deal or a little deal. Alley. Oh, all we got to meet him on the way out. Like everything was divine. Everything happened to especially if the pogo came and then we went to HBO then went to HBO which was clear across town, but let me preface it HBO every year is like is like the variety like it's the hardest, the party varieties for the awesome Vanity Fair for the Oscars. It's the party for the Emmys even be huge, huge food stations everywhere, but people by this time, even though it was only half an hour later were it's an hour later an hour later after we left the awards, fair people at the b. O. party were lit. They were so drunk. So what happens is, yes, ruins a public figure..

Cheers, and we are here because it's Emmys. It's EMMY season. It's not my season. No, it's it is any people who don't live in Hollywood. EMMY says a big, big deal. It's not the else goes now. It is equivalent. It is a celebration of the achievements of people and the writers on TV in TV by the time you hear, this will happen probably last night. 'cause I know everybody listens to it today. The show comes out. So the reason we're doing this is besides we live in l. a. and we want to celebrate the big award season, but we've got a special week, got a lot of connections to, I'm going to the. We'll have been to the weird time space. Continuum thing going on producer beau was at the creative Emmys. It's like the little. It's like the mini Miami's that were held last on. He won for outstanding lead actor in limited series for the night of, and he was the first Asian or the first South Asian male to win an acting award at the Emmys, and then him and Dave Chapelle became the first Muslims to win acting awards and a med being in the first Muslim to win a lead, acting award Chapelle being the first to win a guest role for his role Saturday Night Live. So there are a lot of firsts and a lot of, you know, people of color and just a very diverse set of things happening at last year's EMMY award. So there was a lot going on. I almost totally forgotten about this year is going to be a little different another switched hosts this year. How do you feel about that? Okay. So Michael j. Allen Jost won't just to me is like if thirty racket natty light and Sperry top siders had a baby. It's like. I didn't get all of America has strong feelings about Colin Jost until he said something stupid end in the internet lost its mind. I was like, we have so much pent up Jost aggression needing to come out. We are just waiting for the do something, so I find their their humor is often great on the weekend update. There's a lot of times that I love it, but then it's like nine times out of ten. I'm enjoying it that tenth time, unlike what is wrong with you when it's bad, it's really bad. Like they end it's the two of them will often say like the randomly just be really misogynist, or they'll just feel a blaming, I dunno, like gender non conforming people for Trump winning or something really stupid like that. Or, you know, just casually be like, you know, hashtag he to 'cause you know, m, you don't need to be political on. I'm just making. That's not actually might whenever people make dumb jokes like that. Unlike first of all on fended because you weren't. Actually funny but joke, if it's gonna be a choke Colin Chad, Billy Bob, it should be funny, and it wasn't funny. You should make us laugh. But yeah, I just thought it was dumb. I also think like the saddest part of that is that conscious is actually probably right. Like effects that a bunch of people are like actively defending less moon best right now. Unless you're like panel, I think ignore McDonald might have a point in like, you know, we shouldn't be quite so mean to Louis CK like man's gotta eat with his bazillions of dollars. Hello, possibly feed himself and his family. I think they just actually has our number a little bit more than we'd like to admit in the, you know, he's bit of the population is he's got red dead to rights, which is unfortunate. I will be curious to see if they will like what they'll do with their act because they were like excited about not being political all. Also there were for some reason trashing on award shows, which I think was supposed to be like either funny or them being like bad boys or something like we don't even want his gig, which is a weird weird thing to do when you're given a job. I've a feeling that they're going to end up doing exactly what we I thought they would do when we when they got the gig of like basically weekend update. But for the. The. Rehired for. So you don't think they're gonna. And then I think that the just a strong backlash that they got, and like I say my favorite saying that came out of all this was that the specific genre of like Colin Jost in conjunction with scarlet for Hanson jokes, like most of which just had to do with the idea of Scarlett Johansson appropriating other cultures in just playing people of color were really enjoyable if the internet a little bit, we're gonna work. That's dinner. Thank you to Donna and Sarah and crystal for holding down the social media game while I was off, but it is fantastic to be back recording podcast again for all of you guys out there. The Emmys are coming on Monday, September seventeenth wanted to do little EMMY preview show. So I called up my friend Delia Harrington who writes for the website din of geek. Now, you may have heard her on some of our previous podcasts. If you listen in season one, if not, she's fantastic and you will love her. We love her and we asked her. She could join us to talk about the Emmys and what was really supposed to be. One podcast has turned into basically a three part conversation because we didn't get to talk to deal you the season in the season of the show, which we usually try and do so using the Emmys is kind of our centerpiece. We dove into all kinds of things talking about some movies and TV shows that we had. Seen in recommended and wanted to talk about and our feelings on Handmaid's tale in season two. And we dove into the study from the women's media center about the disparity and male to female, EMMY nominees. So all kinds of stuff plus all the coverage of the preview of the Emmys. Looking back at last year's Emmys would happen. They're looking to the nominees for this year and the winners of already at the arts Emmys. So lots of stuff. So I figured we'd roll with deal you're Harrington. So doing Harrington is good friend of ours. We did not get to speak with her. I don't think at all this season do we even talk the season. I don't think we did not for for May Day for the of the viewer snow. We did not. We talked on line to each other, but not for the good of the people. That's mostly because Delia does a lot of things. She is a writer, photographer, activists and professional feminist issue like say, she writes for the website din of geek, she covers Handmaid's tale in many, many, many, many, many, I know how many minis put in here, but many other shows and things and writes about a lot of things. So tell the people what you're writing about now and all the other things you're covering. Sure. I would doing a lot of movie reviews lately. I did a lot of Netflix originals. Summer if you have been flying in love with all the boys of love before I got to write about that that to write about glo one hundred. I love a good plus apocalyptic CW show mama. Mia, trying to keep it light and enjoy all things. Wonderful and bunkers, a sprayed, another movie that I really love totally different tone. But you have been Jane a lot lot of movies and actually opening depending on when you listening to. This could be opening today or it's already in theaters a simple favor who also. How was that? "Is of course drag race for your consideration which is the emmy push that everybody in tv is in full swing with right now and honestly i just felt like tyra said everything i could have said about this and then some plus the perspective of somebody who has been on the show and not just been on but wanted and when she straight up said you're the host of a show that you couldn't win without somebody else getting together i said oh my really do enjoy drag race a lot but as somebody who has watched the show for a while but just now really like standing in like every episode just like so deep into the racial stuff has been very obvious to me from day one from episode watch every season and it was always like there was always like i remember like very very early on starting the to feel like something was just if he as far as the black queens were concerned and stuff like that but then i was like no 'cause bb oneseason one entira one and repalce black like no as things went along you like it's just it's just like like this isn't really making him yes that doesn't make any fucking this season it don't make no sense that we started out with all these black and brown queens and now we are down to one but is it is it confirmed that this is the most black means that have started in i'm just assuming but i feel like because i don't remember seeing so many black we so many and you sat there and use that double save on your rica and not dusty right bottoms eureka in a camry wasn't that the versus regained cameron like brew paul is going out of his way to make sure the white queen's feel supportive with a mediocre if did up and protect it and what she was saying about the the social media stuff is so real the only black queen who has more than a million followers is rupaul the rest of these girls out here making big big chicks and the black girls have to take whatever scraps they can whatever's leftover i'll get together and do their own show i know vixen had a show called black girl man chicago this week are really considered like getting a ticket overnight ready to do would have gone because the lineup i was just like wait a minute this is i wanna see everyone right so i'm just really glad that somebody who has personal experience with the show and personal experience with rupaul said all the things that i was thinking and i will really have to consider whether i support this show in the future like i will really have to think about where this goes because i feel the same way and what i really wanna see is white queen speak up and be like hey my fans are really racist and like even just telling them if y'all could simmer the fuck down and stop saying crazy shit's competitors on this show like but they don't do that people let their fans say whatever they let whatever races shit right nobody is really trying to curb any of that you just let it all go and then for ru to be sitting here coddling these girls on stage for the rest of us and then hollering at vixen and asia asia was in tears like why do i really have to defend this this person's person why do i have to sit in a room full of gay magazine dresses in weeks and sit here and talk to you about why we should not let one of our sisters feel this way i remember really wasn't even that long ago that ripon got into trouble for saying something about a trans woman and drive women wouldn't be welcome on drag right and and laverne cox posted about it on instagram like levy rule but you're wrong on this one women are huge part of the culture like a huge part of the folk and culture and all top of that you've had sister under women on the fucking show that you had them put in drag one time once season talent so why can they do drag why can they be a part of the culture but transgender women cannot especially because you just have to assume and i know that rupaul noses as long as rupaul been around right that there are lots of not aquaria okay now queer aquaria was born probably when this show started quirks.
