The Camera Bag I Use 90 Percent of the Time (and why)
"When low perot released the streamline one fifty in two thousand thirteen it was intended for lightweight vacation travel with a compact camera. It's multi device design offered a dedicated storage for a seven inch tablet smartphone compact camera and personal items now. This is a very cool bag in the sense that it only measures eleven inches by ten inches by one inch and it stays flat against the body as one of the things. I like about one of my complaints about many camera. Bags is that they kind of you know the bush out there like pillows pillows on a strap and you know they they stick out the they bang against things they're they're noticeable that other people and with the streamlined because it's basically a square levin inches by ten inches the only one inch thick. It's on the shoulder. You can work cross shoulder and you're in a tight situation you put it under your arm while cross shoulder and people don't even see it right unless they're really looking looking that close then you need change direction so to speak. It's also helpful for when the weather gets really bad again. You just tuck it under. Your arm is protected. And you get to wherever you need to get in only weighs three quarters of a pow yet. This thing this design. I was working at low pro at the time when it came out. Now it's going. This is a really cool bag. Of course i saw things differently than a lot of folks in because this was at a time when diesel lars were still roaming the earth right and so the lo pro in particular with thinking. Yeah you know big backpacks you know you got to accommodate that seventy two two hundred millimeter lands and you know dsl are with a grip and all this kind of stuff. And i'm just going to
Pilot Holiday Gift Ideas: The iPad
"Why don't we. Why don't we start at the top end of the price range and and i say that You know we we. I'm looking at my list here. And i have about ten things on here and Probably the most expensive thing and probably in my opinion The the most useful thing that we have on on the list here is an ipad You know we talked about paper vs plastic on previous podcast on whether The the way to go as paper charts or plastic chair or or electronic flight bag if you will and Obviously we go with the f. b. Which is that's that's that's the wave of the future Pad is necessary so there are lots of different options with ipads memory size Cellular cellular versus non cellular. And what i will say about. That is If you are looking to purchase an ipad you definitely want to buy one with cellular capability and the reason is an ipad with cellular capability has a gps chip built into it and That way as you're using your ipad In the airplane you'll have your position your position will always be displayed now. You you don't have to activate the The cellular service on the ipad. So you're not. You're not having to pay a monthly subscription to that but you definitely want to buy an ipad. That has the cellular capability. And it's usually another hundred and thirty dollars extra for that particular ipad in so i think i was confused even early on. I'm kind of tech guy the the value of that additional chip you really instead of buying a third party external card that would provide that. Gps information you're getting that built into the ipad. So if i don't have a gps source by chance than the ipad will give it to me and you don't ever have to turn on the sailor services what you're saying correct that's exactly right. And and the occasional time where you might be at an airport that's may be out in the middle of nowhere and you don't have wifi capability You can very simply Get cellular service. You're going to pay for it. You're going to have to put a credit card in it. You may have to commit to twenty dollars for a given month but it's always nice to have that backup. I do activate the cellular service on my ipad And I i don't use it a whole lot because most of the time i am on wi fi but there are where you're out Somewhere and you don't have wifi available and you you'll want to file a flight plan or or or or or whatever Check the weather. It is nice to have that ability. But again you don't have to activate it so you don't have to pay the monthly fee. And as i'm sure varies by carrier. But i think mine's ten dollars device so if you turn it on its ten dollars you can turn it on and off pretty frequently if you wanna twos. Well you're just going to be hit with that ten dollar so maybe you don't fly much in the winter turn it off. Turn it on the summertime It's great so let's talk about size and size so screen size and memory size probably a personal preference thing. I wish the there was almost something in between the mini and the the eleven incher. Right eleven inches. Just a little too big for the board pad for me. Kinda thing the minis great. I have an old mini. It's time to upgrade my new to the newer mini for sure Because it's running slow. But i like many in the cockpit and i carry my larger ipad. My fly bag is a backup Any thoughts or suggestions there. Yeah i i it it's definitely personal preference though. The one thing that i do like about them many is It is it does mount easily on the oak In in our one seventy two it fits right between the two Handles actually and it fits really nice on the yoke I'm not a mount it type person. I usually just keep the ipad in my lap. I've i've never really used kneeboard. I most of the applicants that i gave check rides to use knee boards and they use them very effectively. It's it's just something that Forty years ago. When i was learning to fly it just wasn't a part of the The norm for people using the board so It's just something. I never really adapted to but my i have the eleven inch. Ipad pro I think the super-duper ipad the twelve point nine inch or whatever it is. I think it's just a little bit too too big too bulky I said i kind of wish. There was one between the mini and the eleven inch because maybe about an I don't know a tween ipad with would be would be nice You know. I i do find that. The older people like the bigger ones. The younger people liked the smaller ones. And that probably has something to do with the vision but You know are obviously able to pinch out to make make the the things bigger I would say the with. The ipad mini To me reading text Isn't as as you know. I don't like it near as much As i do in my eleven inch ipad so it is a personal preference and just keep in mind I think most people are not going to buy an ipad and and dedicated strictly to aviation. You're going to use it for other things. You're gonna find all kinds of other uses for it if you don't have an ipad already but It's a great device And as far as the other size. It's you know the the memory. How much memory you have on your ipad is is Is something to look at. And of course the more memory the more expensive so there are economics involved in this

Unless he we're living under the sort of rock that does not get WI fi in twenty eleven you've probably heard of the Honey, badger, biological classification. Mela Vara Pence's that year a YouTube video went viral featuring a collage of National Geographic footage, showing Honey badgers eating snakes running backwards and chasing, jackals with expletive ridden, aeration, featuring the refrain. Honey, badger don't care. It's now been viewed over ninety one million times and Taylor swift has admitted to being able to recite the entire video by heart and although the Honey badger has established a lasting place in internet culture because of this three minute comedy bit. It's celebrity make us think we know more about this strange solitary animal than we actually do the truth is on Abacha's aren't well understood because they're extremely difficult to study. We spoke with Derek vendor. Meta with the endangered Wildlife Trust in South Africa. He said, how Honey badgers became famous in America is incredible. We get so many calls for America. Wanting to come film them because of the famous YouTube clip. They don't realize how difficult it is to film, Honey badger, because they're very intelligent, a lot of them forage at night, and they have extremely big home ranges. Some of them up to five hundred square kilometers that's three hundred ten square miles. Honey, badgers are more closely related to a weasel than a European badger, and they don't actually eat Honey, though. Their weakness for beehives and the tasty be larva within often gets them in trouble with humans, they live in a wide range of habitats from forests to deserts, but mostly hang out in dry areas in Africa, southeast Asia, and India, Honey, badgers have become synonymous with aggression, and ferocity Guinness world records has named them the world's most fearless creature to the point the particularly nations, professional athletes, sometimes earn Honey, badger, as nickname, they the Honey badger animal, not the athletes have a reputation for being nearly indestructible. But the truth is, they're short, just about eleven inches at shoulder height, which is about twenty eight centimeters and not very fast. So there's sometimes attacked and killed by bigger predators. But for Honey badger, the best form of defence is attack. Vulnera- said they're thick skin is loose so loose. In fact, that they can almost turn around completely within it. If an animal bites the Honey badger on the back, it can turn around and bite the animal right back. They have long claws on their front feet that they use for digging, but which they use for fighting as well. Inexperienced predators a young leopard, lion hyena, for instance might try to attack a Honey badger once, but they'll never try it again after the first time Honey badgers off, untangle of venomous snakes. But one misconception is that they're naturally immune to venom while it's true? They eat a lot of items animals their immunity needs to be developed over time how Honey badgers acquire? This immunity is not well studied or understood, but mother Honey badgers spend a long time raisin each pup fourteen to eighteen months and as the baby grows it seems, it's mom slowly. Introduces it to venomous animals starting with the mildest scorpion and moving up the venom ladder, until the youngsters eating cobras and puff Hatters. Another thing we get wrong about Honey badgers is that we think they're like, skunks, because they bear a physical resemblance in there for pattern skunk, spray. A strong unpleasant smelling liquid at their attackers to gross them out and get them away. And while it's true that Honey badgers. Do store revolting smelling substance in their anal pouch and they occasionally release it when they're in a life threatening situation. They don't weaponize it the way skunks do. It's more a panic button than a threat of though. It's still something, you don't want to get on you because that stench lingers. When Honey badgers were first described in South Africa. They're often found in B's nests apparently feeding on Honey. Hence the common name. But it turns out that they were really interested in the be brewed through nutritious larva found in the honeycomb Monday nervous said in South Africa, the Honey badger was listed as near threatened in the early two thousands beekeepers were killing them, because they were causing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage to the beekeeping industry, breaking into hives not only. Do they destroy the hive itself, the beekeeper loses Honey and the swarm of bees? It's actually quite a lot of money, some badgers, just learned to live off sacking beehives, and they were being persecuted for it, but over the past two decades, the relationship between badger and human has gotten better London marva explained what we did in South Africa is start raising the hives off the ground by one point one meters, or three point six feet or strapping them together, or two tires on the ground. This prevents the Honey badgers rolling the hives, which is how they access them in early two thousands half the beekeepers we surveyed admitted to deliberately killing Honey badgers because they were costing them so much money since we've come up with these methods for preventing the badgers accessing the hives beekeepers are no longer killing them. And we've noticed an increase in numbers and in range in some areas, they've since been downgraded to a species of least concern, which is great news. Because even though they've got terrible personalities Honey badgers are good for ecosystems they live in, because they're not as fast as other predators. They'll dig rodents out of boroughs, but miss catching them thus providing food for birds of prey and jackals, which often follow a Honey badger. Around waiting to catch the Honey badgers intended prey, it's okay though, the Honey, badger don't care. "But the basic rumblings were that last year, it was under consideration to have a, a serious change to multitasking in home screen on ipad, and it just it got cut supposedly, and therefore engineers had to go work on the performance enhancement, couldn't do both in the same time. So, you know, is that coming for the ipad, I this is one like with the phone with the home screen? That's just like, oh, that would be cool, if they came up with a better home screen, but I'm not frustrated by the current home screen. So if they don't I won't be disappointed whereas if the ipad doesn't get some serious love on this front. I'm going to be disappointed. Yeah. And it's interesting because I think one of the rumors where we're going to get tabbed interfaces way we have on the MAC and then one of the more recent rumors, I forget, if that was from Gherman or not was that it was going to have a way to swipe between different windows and also multiple windows like safari got a while ago. But would they be side by side? Or would they be just abstract windows that you could position? And again, a lot of the stuff you that you hear the rumor, but the actual details of implementation are much harder to sort of sort out. Yeah. And I have to say that I ipad, I mean, I'm glad safari has an ipad has a tabbed interface. And I don't have an idea for something better. But I don't love it because for me as an eleven inch ipad user, the tabs are always so small always, but it is on the other hand crazy that there's no system-wide standard for. Here's how for example, your notes app would have to notes open at the same time, like kind of. All the time. Right. You know, if you have a document that supports the concept of saving. Here's how you close it or just like you have the picture in picture window, so you can have your video floating, but you can't have your notes app or your calculator or you're with. And I think one of the rumors from Rambo was that you'll be able to pull calculator out from the multitasking interface. But it won't be an actual screen. It'll just be part of the layover the interface. It'll never be an actual app, but it just seems like there's so much they could do there. They spent the time on it. What you're saying a calculator. Yeah. Actually making a calculator out, but it won't be a full app. It'll just forget, what they call it. You know, when you swipe out and it doesn't really take part of the split view, just, it's on top of the split view. It would only exist in that mode, which sounds weird. I, I know exactly what they should call. It should call it a desk accessory. Yes. Because that for those of you don't remember that is like I it was talking about font. DA mover, the DA Yanti mover was desk accessory and in the original MacIntosh, which didn't support multitasking in for the early years. It did seemingly support multitasking where you couldn't run a word processor and spreadsheet at the same time but you could go up to the apple menu. And there is a list of desk accessories. Things like the calculator, what was the one that was like a notes app..
How Many Legs Do Millipedes Have?

Distracted driving's reckless take a pledge to end. Distracted driving at it can wait dot com. A message from AT and T. Welcome to brain stuff a production of I heart radio. Hey rain stuff Lauren Boko bomb here. Let's start with the basics millipedes are not worms nor are they insects insects have six legs, and obviously, millipedes have many more. But exactly how many more the answer may vary by the particular specimen in question, but it's never going to be nine hundred ninety four. It turns out that no one chose their name Millie, meaning thousand and Pedes referring to feet as a way to convey the precise number of legs, these organisms have their cousin, the centipede with the prefix sunny. Meaning one hundred are similarly named by way of illustrations, not precision. Millipedes fall within a sub file them of arthropods, all arthropods have in common a hard exit skeleton, segmented, bodies and jointed legs like arachnids insects and crustaceans, what distinguishes millipedes is that they have many segments in their body and free segment. They have two pairs of legs instead of one pair as he would see with safe centipedes having so many leads as part of what makes millipedes so adaptive fossil evidence suggests that millipedes were among the first ever trust real animals, which means they've been around for about four hundred million years back in the coniferous, period. About three hundred million years ago. A millipedes species known as Arthur plora grew to an enormous six and a half feet long and one and a half feet wide. That's about two meters by half a meter today. Millipedes range in size. Thank goodness from just a tenth of an inch or three millimeters to about eleven inches or a third of the meter so far. Researchers have discovered about twelve thousand species on every continent, except in Artika, but estimate that there could be as many as eighty thousand species here in the United States every. Date has some species of millipedes that are unique and can't be found anywhere else. Scientists have developed new imaging techniques that use UV light doubt them differentiate between millipedes species this approach works because millipedes exit skeletons and reproductive organs glow under UV light, as, is the case with many other arthropods like scorpions some species of millipedes in California, however, bioluminescence, which means they glow in the dark. Millipedes feast on leaf litter. That's plentiful around the world. This means millipedes spend most of their time in soil under leaves in rocks and what makes them so affective getting around in this dense habitat is there many mighty legs. They use the first segment of their body, like a bulldozer and having so many legs means they have a lot of power with which to push burrowing through the dirt when millipedes hatch, they have only a few pairs of legs, then just like many other arthropods like crabs and spiders, they grow throw process called multiplying. This process involves shedding, their Xs skeleton, and growing a new one each time they do this millipedes, also grow a new segment, and therefore to new pairs of legs, some millipedes, stop molten when they reach adulthood, and others moult their whole lives, which is on average about two years. So how many legs to millipedes have it depends on the group? But it ranges between twenty four and seven hundred fifty at most, though, that's uncommon most millipedes species have under a hundred legs millipedes have some defense mechanism. Uh-huh. But they don't bite or sting. They have very poor eyesight. Some species have no is at all and mostly just use their intended to find their way a millipedes best move when it feels threatened to curl up in a ball and secrete chemicals that were off predators. The chemicals. They secrete vary, but are released in such tiny quantities that they're generally, not hazardous to humans some research describes how insert tropical regions, monkeys actually seek out millipedes and used the chemicals. They secrete as mosquito repellent, centipedes by contrast can bite using small things do secrete, venom, even then while centipede by can be painful, it usually won't cause, other harmful effects. If you're looking to tell the difference between the centipede and millipedes, leg wise, centipedes legs tend to spread out to their sides, while millipedes legs point downward. Centipedes only have one pair of legs percent while millipedes, have two pairs. If you're not keen on getting close enough to check observe the creatures behavior, if it runs away quickly, it's likely centipede if it just curls up. It's probably a millipedes. That's like not like a zoo. What else involves like horseback riding a weird? I ate what the fuck who does that the sailing kid sailing kit like that would be a weird first date to go horseback, riding, right? I don't necessarily agree. I think that would be cool. I think. Yeah. I honestly think as a first date the Witter it is the cooler. It is like if you're just like, oh, let's grab a drink. Like, that's fine. And that's not really interesting. I'm really a date. Well, I hear what you're saying. But I understand drink at a booth. That's true. You know, that is kind of weird how both turns it into a date if it's at the bar. It's not really a date. Yeah. My friend actually told me differently. He'd see like, I think it was Pete. He would rather be at the bar anything. He says I'm gonna agree with me to smoke. But like, I think it's more intimate to be in a booth and like I'm looking at you, and like there's a little candle here that may be real or fake. I don't know. Let me put my hand over it. I also like to do the thing where I stick my finger in the wax. And I pick it off to. Yeah. It's a great scrape. I also have an eleven inch dick. So there's a date for you. Okay. So much work not much work. You have to do Pete. Oh my God. You'd have to be around them. They've just have to be in the vicinity of that dick. But. No was going to say that. iPad vs. iPad Pro: Which is right for you?
"If you want to use something like, the smart keyboard? You gotta go with the ipad pro right because the ipad doesn't have that connector you're kind of stuck with bluetooth keyboards. So if you want something a little more all in one the ipad pro is maybe where you need to head. But again, you're going to pay for that. So both are good depending on what you want. Yeah. I would obviously I I would not trade my impact pro for the nine point seven for a lot of the reasons you just said, but I you know, I was just thinking about percentages while you're talking I feel like for about a third of the price. You get about seventy five percent of the functionality. It's like if you're listening to this and say, well, I might want to try this. You can do it for three hundred dollars. And if you've got an extra bluetooth keyboard in a house, you're good. You know, it's it's not that it's not that expensive to to give this a shot. And maybe that's where you start in India if you really get into it, then you can sell the nine. Seven and by the fancier one or handed down or whatever. But the, but I I wouldn't just right off the nine the nine point seven is not advice incapable of doing remote work it. Like, I said, I think it's like seventy five percent of the functional. So a little slower screen is smaller. So you lose some things there. But man, it can run probably just about every app that we're going to be talking about on this episode. Yeah. Anyway, so so you got to pick which one go in for the budget, the three twenty nine or get yourself. One of those sexy screaming ipad pros feels like there's no Bethel. I mean, there's a lot to like about it. And even then I think the same thing eleven inch twelve point nine doesn't matter. You can get the work done with either one just just pick whatever you want. I mean for me if you really torn between the sizes I try to go to an apple store and like try them out. I think you will gravitate towards one or the other. Yeah. If you're gonna be doing a lot of productivity type work one advantage of the bigger one as you get full-sized apps on in split screen, and that that's that's a big deal or it can be if you're going to really be trying to use this as your mobile workstation anyway. So you need I do think if you're going to make this work you need a keyboard. And Steven was mentioned earlier. I've had pros have the smart keyboard, I have one I think it's great. I might twelve point nine I had one on the prior ten point five inch ipad. I liked it on that too. Stephen have you got any strong feelings either way about the apple smart. Keyboard. Yeah. That's what I have on my ipad, something my favorite keyboard in the world type on. But it wins from me because it's always connected to the ipad as a cover with like, the the magnetic attachments are really nice. It doesn't add too much bulker. Wait, even on the big ipad pro, and you know, it's just sort of like nicely integrated records pick it all up and go, but it does lack some things that I do find a little annoying sometimes like brightness, keys and volume keys. And I think if you want more than that the bridge keyboards are a nice way to go there. Heavier. They built bloom the new ones actually for like the the new ipad pros that came out last year. This keyboards will start shipping here sometime during the late spring. So no out quite yet. But under the previous generation bridge keyboards were really popular among people doing a lot of work on the ipad.

But where does that fit in at work, or is that a device just at home kind of depends? I don't use it at ton at work. I mean, I could but it's primarily just kind of my tablet. I watch a lot of movies on it. Actually, I would say this now that I'm traveling so much. It has become really useful. Just to have a great travel device if I need to access some more stuff, but I don't have time to do. Maybe. Halftime is the wrong word. Maybe I don't want to drag out the full laptop. Then it's really great that. I can you know power through some emails or look at some other documents or pull some things up. But if I'm being totally candid, I mean, I spent a lot of money on the ipad pro eleven inch to fifty six model with LT, basically to washing-up lex. So I'm not the best person to take power tips from I'm not a Federico or Jason snow, but I do like the new machines so much. It's really good. It's one of those things I want to do more things on it. You know, I was on the flight recently. And I saw a guy with a twelve inch macbook in the next Rover. This is smallest macbook apple minks. And even that wasn't really usable on an airplane. Because they've got the seats so close together in the tray and the guy in front of them was leaning back lately. I think at this point a laptop is almost not feasible on an airplane, unless you've got nice seats. No your dad on. I mean, it's actually one of those things that are really like about the surface. Go is that. It is. I used it on a commuter flight from between Scotland San Francisco so one of the really small flights. So even if you have the nice seats, you have like no trae table at all. And we'll because the nice Easter basically, just like a tiny bit more like like room that fit like that that device fits on on the table. But if somebody leans back, you know, even even those things are Pence, so you're right. Like having an eleven inch ipod is a really good way to to kind of get work done. If you do that. I do not have the keyboard. I use like an external bluetooth keyboard because I don't like the apple keyboard case, I'm waiting for Logitech or somebody else to come up with something. But like better, but I just don't like the apple keyboard case. I never have. And so I don't have that. I know a lot of people like it great. It's just for for tactile reasons for the stuff that I do. I don't. So. Instead when I when I need to type I travel with like a Logitech bluetooth keyboard that I just keep it in my bag. Make mission. I do like a lot of the Microsoft products. As I said earlier, I use Microsoft Word all the time for my job. But when it comes to presentations, you're going to have to pull keynote out of my cold dead hands. Keynote so much keynotes great. But you're using PowerPoint a lot, and I am I think we haven't had on the show that's been daily using PowerPoint maybe ever. So how is PowerPoint? And what do you like about it? And what do you do not like about it? It's gotten a lot better. So it's interesting because if I'm doing a presentation that is not something that needs to be repeatable or that is you know, where like uploading the slides someplace, I still use keynote. That's the so, but I do we even have kind of a template that some people on our team use that have some of our graphics and things that is organized designed for keynote we have one for PowerPoint as well..
All the rumors and leaks surrounding the 2019 iPad and iPad mini 5
"About a new ipad mini coming out. And apple has pro in two sizes. They have the eleven inch and the twelve point nine inch. And they have a nine point seven inch ipad non-pro and the rumor is the ipad mini is also going to be a non-pro know, you'll have a nine point seven in Japan. Many non-pro nine point seven point nine and nine point seven non pros eleven and twelve point nine pros. And part of the reason that I had pro I think can get more expensive and more day. She's is that you have these other ipads that are getting slush expensive. So yes, it sucks. The ipad. Pro is. Seven hundred bucks now. But hey, look at how cheap the regular ipad is getting and I would love apple to do that with phones. So instead of people saying the the ten and the tennis and the tennis max so expensive go even lower than the tower. Have like have the have a ten are at the iphone e size and ten are that slightly bigger and have to separate phone lines one that you can let get expensive because the other one is is more budget friendly every time, right? Yeah. Yeah. Just kind of mixing it up. So that people have difference like financial categories have the option of going all in with the most expensive or choosing something that's more budget friendly. But still a great phone. I think the the reason I ended up switching over to ten last year. And now tennis this year. Instead of keeping the is that it's it's three years old. There's there's no denying the camera. If I yeah. If I didn't work in industry that I work in I would still be using an essay because that that would have that satisfies all of my needs. But because I have to kind of be on top of the most the most current kind of technological things. I switched over to ten because it was the most comfortable phone that apple had made since SE. So this, you know, six plus seven plus eight plus were not they were uncomfortable for me. I didn't like them and the the ten when I got it. I even thought, you know, try for a few months, but I'll probably switch back to ESI and fit in my hand better. It's still a little too big. But it certainly much closer to to the than any of the other ones in that that point I just needed to switch so Georgia, Christina Warren. He'll go, you know, what they're maxing. It really is a tiny. I used to hands. Don't you? Judge me. I don't use two hands. I use one hand. I just that's the way I do it. So for me, I totally respect that. Team nature and and community that sort of based around because I see people quite a bit actually talk about their love of those smaller screen devices.

"Other plan where the the pay as you go service where you would turn it on for a month. And then turn it off and do those types of things. So if you have the Verizon ipad, be prepared that you have to buy a sim card. So I'd get a sim it's free when I say by it. I just mean to order it. So you had to order it. And that took a few minutes to figure out and get activated. And all, but it was it was pretty easy. There was a a way that that walks you through that. And I'll I'll talk about that in a little bit later. But and the initial thoughts the eleven inch the bigger screen is nice. I will tell you that when it came to typing on the on screen keyboard? It took a which I don't too often. But I did for some initial setup. It did take a little bit of getting used to because the finger placement is is different which I think is to be expected. Obviously anytime you you have to get used to a new form factor on the little one in landscape or portrait landscape. I use the eleven inch ipad, almost I I use my ipad period almost exclusively in landscape. Okay. The eleven inch. The the aspect ratio is a little different. So I will tell you that your apps. Do you have to be updated because they are black bars on the side of them if they haven't been updated, but the black bars are not bad at all. I certainly wish that all the apps would be updated that we could get get that moving on. But the the black bars are are not bad. But in terms of the actual physical form factor of the ipad. I absolutely love the new squish shape. I think it's probably one of the best looking ipads. If not the best looking ipad. We've ever had. I saw one of the forms. Someone who is asking if it feels sharpen your hands. And it doesn't at all not at all. They've rounded off the corners enough that you can hold it comfortably. And and I'm talking from the big one with a smaller one. It's it's lighter. So it assume that's even more comfortable in your hand. Right. I will tell you the first couple of days, and this has since gone away. But the first couple of days that I used the eleven inch it felt a little bit heavier to me..

So that you make a point. That's interesting. Is this the eleven inch or the thirteen that you showed me showed you two thirteen th they're basically the same. But the thirteen sometimes lags behind with changes that I make a sorry eleven sometimes life behind changes that I make the thirteen always canonical, right? Like, I try and keep them the same. But sometimes I place my be out vote or you know, because he's just I like, I don't like sit down change it old same time. But the thirteen is the one that has the like that. That's that's the that's the canonical. Also, I'm gonna put a link in the show notes to. The five K wallpaper thing that Stephen put together on five pixels. I'm using an old MAC will papers on my pets. Which is I think it's it's I like it. I think it's funny. I was struggled to walk out. What to uses Papua? Papua papers and these alike. Perfect. I use Tiga because it was my first my MAC nice. I think that makes sense. I am glad that you. And I agree that the one page lifestyle. Asterisk is the way to be. I totally understand what you're saying about having the second page for things that you're considering. I think we have somewhat similar ideas. With regard to a bunch of folders toward the top with the exception of settings for you. I am a little annoyed that you don't have emoji folder names. But I'll allow it you know, that is certainly the more normal way of doing it done that before I've done that. And I mostly find myself like. It just doesn't walk. I end up getting frustrated by they're all like, it's like what is the right emoji to go in this moment, right? Because then it's like you've got. Three of them have one emoji. One has Unika text character effectively low Oh, gee, g. it's not an emoji unit kotex character. And then the other is to it's like, I know what you've done that. Because there isn't really anything. I actually used a Unix text apple Kochta, right because everything else is tax. It's styled the same as the text. So. Yeah, that's fair. Right. Because I use it for like everybody else is the apple apps that I bail us, but do wanna keep around do delete a bunch, but not all of them. So do you approve disapprove or just feel like I am still not quite the final tragic you'll getting better definitely getting better. Like, some of the earlier ones that you were sharing which is really I knew they were bad too. Because I just hadn't really spent the time what I did. With the ipad was I set it up his new and just started installing things as I needed them. And so the advantage of that is I don't have a whole bunch of Croft on here. But the disadvantages I didn't have any real at least early on. I didn't have any real right organization. You took a picture and like one of one of them's like you had like one blocker on your home screen. Yeah. No, it doesn't. But I knew that that was a temporary thing to have the time to properly fix it. At that point that this was why I wanted to talk through this with you because there was just like some super weird stuff you doing like to test flight was tesla on the home screen. Also, like, you're really trying Vince the ground. Well, it's been moved off of the home screen now. The thing is the rim. You tell you on the ipad Instagram on the web is better than the insta- garment. But the reason that I have Instagram the Pat at all is because. Yeah, I browse it from time to time. But the real issue is that I have been communicating more in more and more frequently using Instagram DM's, and and that isn't available on the web as far as I know. So that's that's the reason it lives on. It's not because I agree with you. It's a piece of trash and in every other way, the web is better, but becau-, but because I need to well, I don't Mead. But I'd prefer to be able to DM's that way. That's why lives on today not make that direct anymore. They made an app once I don't think so they did they made a messaging app, but.

"It was like the part of the touch screen was closed, and it has like the magnet like turn it on and off like sleep wake which are so clever, and then they were very nice leather versions to like that was super nice. And then they may change those to cover the magnet part of it with material which is like a little bit nicer, I guess because the magnet, you know. It wasn't as pretty. Yeah. And and the now and they've had this cover like every year since then with like different limitations of like, some of them will colors. They never have as many colors leather goes away comes back goes away. And then this here, it's smart keyboard folio, and I have not bought one to try out because I'm not gonna like use it over the smart keyboard folio? It's I love this folio. But if I was like using I've never bought an ipad without a smarter, cover or smart, keyword, full, smart keyboard, and I'm not sure I'd like the thing, you know, because it's just not quite the same get the back of the Pat expose in the same way. So I don't know. But I'm loving this market will fully own like, I said it's coming on and off all you know, various mos- how easing ipad, a leave the house. I've got it. Because it's the cover of the pet as well the pencil travels with me, and I found that like I take my ipad into the gems like my TV for the job. So I'm not like watching the various new channels or like lifetime or cooking the food. Channel I can like my own videos, and I found that the eleven inch is really nice because it's like hidden within the machine of like, you know, the elliptical or whatever it is that amusing without sticking out. But like for that, I'll bring the full, oh, but it's not like in keyboard motorcyclist flip backwards, and it's just so that when I walk in the screens covered, but like for that all the pencil in the car. But as soon as I'm done at the gym like pencils clothes back on. But I just don't want to bring a pencil into the gym, you know, and I've found that to be so nice the way that these accessories work together, it's such a big improvement to like before before I would never travel with the pencil, and I wouldn't I didn't joy in the keyword cover as much because added a lot of Boll to like it was heavier. It was more material physically more material. And now, I've got a bigger version the keyboard and his less material. And it's way way nicer to us. Of also. Of found in one occasion. Like, I told my MAC book and upgraded to refurbish pro image and last week, which was a pretty good deal. And I'm enjoying that. But I was away from home one evening this week, and a friend of mine tip me the store, you know, heads up in the Nike gap on iphone, there are these new bands. Have you seen those yet? And it was like, whoa. Haven't seen those like neither is anyone else yet for that matter like in this space, and I wanna write the story about it and said of handed off to somebody else. So I took my pro unlike the screen shots from the iphone like used a shortcut to put the Frings around the iphone screen shots. And then on the ipad pro used pixel mater to make it like the right aspect ratio and size for nine to five MAC. And like wrote the story in the CMS on WordPress. Unlike published dead and all the things that we needed. Do it like on that pet pro? And it wasn't like the fastest way to do it. Like, I don't have a laptop anymore and just he's real work. Yeah. I mean is popular storyteller. It's like so. I thought about keeping a MAC book at home just because like I can be in the couch and do work if I wanted to look in the evenings. But it was just like a more predictive on an I MAC on a desktop at least. And so. I'll be tempted. If I have a MAC book around like a sold it, and I feel like I'd you know, wasting money to keep it. So it was nice to get the money back from that. And then the ipad like came in handy when I was not at home. But I could write a story, you know, I was someone else's house..

"It's it's absolutely wonderful. So there are two ipads. There is the eleven inch. There is the thirteen inch. Which one is right for most people. So I use I have been using both I pads frequently right? Like, I have my uses had been using the ten point five one. I travel also using embed to read videos and to use it in the morning, and then was use the twelve point nine as my work machine where I'm doing all of my communication. My Email my show planning, you know, all of my administration. Everything's going in the. The me. Nothing's changed. Because even though the thirteen inch is physically smaller. The me it's not necessarily the physical size. It's the thirteen inches of screen is more screen than I want in those scenarios like night. That's too bright. It's too big too bright when I'm reading in bed at night next to my wife, right like it's too much light. And the eleven is still smaller is still lighter is still less expensive. You know, I actually still think that the eleven inch ipad, especially now that it is eleven inches more than ten point flying. I think that it is actually even more than ten point five the ri- Pathum most people, I think the trade offs that you will experience like slightly less than full apps and multitasking slightly less than a full size onscreen keyboard, they will with it. If you if you believe, and if you know that the ipad is going to be a serious, your working set up the thirteen inch is the right one for you. Otherwise, you should get the eleven inch. Because I think that these smaller I pro is now better than it's ever been. So if you're in that camp, you have a much much better option available to you. So I sort of agree with you and sort of disagree with you. I feel like with this generation with a thirteen getting smaller that the I think the eleven is still the right. The smaller of the two is still the right ipad pro for a majority of people. I feel like that percentage is less than it used to be. I think I agree with. I think I think it's if it was seventy thirty it's sixty forty now feel like because I feel like with the thirteen being so much smaller so much less kind of ungainly to hold the benefits. You get in terms of the bigger screen, the better multitasking, the better keyboard that for a certain class of user that's larger maybe who might who might before been like. Oh, yeah. I like all those things point. It's just so huge. It's going to be. It's less awkward. It's less gain Li it's more of a pleasant device to hold the I think closer. But I think you're. I think the eleven is still the more likely choice. I will say. You know, who is who is the eleven four the eleven is is powerful and beautiful and has all of these stories, and that's great. If part of me wants to say that the eleven inch. I've had pro is kind of people who want the nicest ipad possible, but may not be using it as an ipad pro like because really if the smaller screen doesn't bother it's bigger than the ipad at three fifty. But like for three hundred fifty dollars you can get an ipad and it has pencil supported the pencil. I know, but you can get that. And you can get a keyboard case for it. If you even want to type on it, and you can do multitasking and all these things like if you're going to spend seven ninety nine on the eleven I do think like there is a question to ask yourself, which is at this point. What are you gonna use it for and if you really going to use it for multitasking and things like that consider that thirteen it's not as ungainly as it was that'll said, I do think for most people the eleven is for more people than than not the eleven is the right one to choose. I use. I've used them both. And it's funny because going into this. I was really thinking that I might go down to the smaller ipad because the larger ipad was love the screen. But it's just you know, it was. Load. It is you know, it's a heavy thing..

Everybody bought one right away got this week. You saw reviews come out. Many ways I think the surpasses a laptop in terms of sexy sexy technology. I know that sounds nutty to call it sixty sixty technology, but it is it is in fact, in many ways, I would say this is this is far superior to a laptop computers beautiful screen and apple in their usual, kind of misguided attention to detail even made the screen the edges of the screen curved. I don't mean the physical device. I mean, the the the screen itself has curved edges to match the straight edges to match the curve edges of the physical box in perfect, symmetry and harmony of of curves and flow, and design it's all design. Rain, and the and I liked it as it's nice and thin. So seeing apple said, so thin. How thin is Leo's? So thin. You can't actually put a headphone Jack on it. It would have to be fatter. Okay. Well. No headphone, Jack ain't no, no, no. And so thin that the camera even has a bump. Because it camera is fatter than the ipad. So has a a bump like a couple of millimeters sticking right out, which means you can't lie flat. Unless you spend two.

But the reality is like, I don't Mark up anything because I don't work with anybody. Nobody freshman markup. Anything? I don't handwrite anything myself. So that's that's not really thing either. But it is tempting to get the bigger one. But now that I have the bigger one in hand for for tonight. I've already decided like, yeah. I actually don't want the bigger all so the the eleven inch just gets taller like in the ratio that it already was taller, but it gets even taller still in that dimension. And some of that is sacrificed to the home indicator. Right. You're actually losing space because the home indicator, right? So, but, but that's but in that that's the dimension that it also got taller right is if you have it in portrait is the home indicator read some space, but then you get that space back because it's got like one hundred sixty four extra points or pixels. I forget which in that dimension. And overall the eleven inch. You know, if you're talking about a gooey not video or something the safe area insets because it's got around to corners, eat some of your content area. So I'm kind of glad that it got big. Here and at least one dimension. It's partially offset the safe area in sets that we all now have to deal with anything with a UI the twelve nine is so big anyway that this area and says a percentage or are less of a big deal and as someone who watches a lot of video on the ipad. If I ended up getting an eleven inch. That's like this ipad someday, I'm kind of glad that it got wider. Just because that means a typical, you know, letterbox style wide video will make them more efficient use of the space. The letter boxing will be less. Biggest it's yes, it's water. So that's good for me. But you know, where you're coming from with the the four by thirty thing and having a more square ratio closer to square ratio being more versatile for a device that may be used in portrait, and maybe using landscape to view content. Yeah. The other thing too is like using the twelve nine just again for only a couple of hours so far. But like so much of Iowa's just feels like it was not designed to be this big. And you like that's always a problem on ipad OS to some degree. But on the twelve nine it seems. Extreme like, it seems like you just have like these massive empty spaces or huge like big wide text areas for no apparent reason. And so because the Germans love it there, you I can finally fit. Yes. Yeah. But like, I definitely like the ipad is still not really ideal at this size. Everything does feel a little bit too. Big and too spaced out is if they're just kind of killing space because they don't they don't have anything to do with it yet. I wonder how that changes over time. But for right now, it's just like it's everything's just really big and spread out, and that works really, well and web pages and not so well, and all other places also it's been reported elsewhere to that like the. Apps that we're not built with twelve one as decay that just came out. They will they're kind of litterbox in a special way. When when they're showing this ipad almost every third party app. I've launched so far has been letterbox in this way. I don't know if if the app store has not open it's opened the gates yet for that. Or if more likely like developers haven't had a chance, I haven't updated overcast debt for that. 'cause I haven't chance like I've had like a few days to do it..

"This is this is the twelve point nine like. This is the ipad pro for most people. Now, I believe I think the ten point five was before. But I now think that most people would benefit from the twelve point nine. It really I cannot believe the screen to buddy ratio on it. It really is. Wild. It is wild. Yeah. The the fact that it's so much smarter than before twelve point nine really does make a difference. And I was comparing the like I put the new app at Brown. Top of my old one today, and there's like at least once and team of difference on the bottom side because the forehead and the chain. Drastically been reduced. So I feel like if you're looking for if you never I think it's interesting to to ask this question. If you're never owned an I pro so if you still have an ipad air to or something which one is the best for you. And so why personally got a twelve point nine with cellular because this is going to be my main computer that I'm going to work on both at home. And when I'm when I'm around. I think it's interesting to consider whether most people should do what you did and get seller on the eleven inch. My main problem is that the eleven inch still doesn't show you to regular to apps in in the regular size class when you split view it all issues like the compact size class. So that's a deal breaker for you. You're going to want to do twelve point nine. I think. But also, there's a question of do you want to use these ipad when you're working do you want to use it to read imbed or something or to watch movies, for example? And I do think that in spite of the size reduction. I think it's still a little uncomfortable to read with twelve point nine inch even in portrait mode, for example. So for me, the big problem of the limited view on the avenue. That single problem convince me that I was going to stick with the twelve point nine if multitasking is not a beginner for you. I would recommend starting from the eleven inch. Because I think it's more portable than the twelve point nine even though as a computer, the twelve point nine, I think is the better deal. I don't know if these make sense, but basically for two still an issue for you. If it's really important for you to have a portable ipad, go for the eleven inch. If you wanna have a computer replacement, and you don't mind, the extra, you know, the the exercise, basically. I love the twelve point nine so. That that thought processes exactly why there's a twelve point nine on my desk. I had the ten I had the twelve thousand nine initially the number to ten five pro telling y'all the tint going back to the smaller size the ipad, mostly became consumption device for me because I really like the two full-size apps side by side. And when the eleven didn't get that. I knew that I was destined for the bigger one. Even though that does mean giving it up in some situations. I think that for me at least like wanting to make a better run doing more work on it that the the size is a is a big deal. It's funny. One of the stores I've seen both of them. And they definitely still they feel more different than I thought. They would I thought they would feel like. Out. And maybe like the the max and the iphone ten or ten are like these all really close, they do still feel distinctly different..

"Charging for tablets just isn't a thing yet. You can get it in your choice of silver and space gray both with black bells, white Basil's like gold and rose. Gold options have been buried with the three point five millimeter headphone, Jack previously. The smaller ipad pro was available in just those kinds of finishes. Just like the MAC book and the new macbook air and even the iphone tennis and tennis max, but not any of the machines pro not anymore. And yeah, I found a bug apart with apple expected behavior gold or rose gold, but I'm not expecting it to clear screening the sizes have changed both subtly and radically. There are still too. But the bigger one kept twelve point nine inch screen and shaved off its casing while the smaller one kept its casing size and expanded the screen to eleven inches. It's enough that I saw more than a few people confuse the twelve point nine four the eleven if you're torn trying to decide between them my advice remains the same. If you want an ipad pro instead of a notebook get the twelve point nine if you want it. In addition to a notebook get the eleven with. Every successive review. I feel like I should have to explain face ID less and less, but then I see things like one plus six t reviews where people breathlessly express admiration for the tiny teardrop notch while similar Tena Slee lavishing praise on it's super fast face on
Talking about the pretty and pricey new iPad Pro (The 3:59, Ep. 484)
"Today's three fifty nine is sponsored by player. Unknowns. Welcome to the three fifty nine. I'm Ben FOX ribbon. I'm Alfred and I'm Scott Stein. Scott just published his review of the new ipad. Pro it's got a new pencil a new design a new face ide-. But it's also got a new price tag. Yes. Does sting is expensive? It goes up to eighteen ninety nine that's for all the specs and all the trimmings starts at seven ninety nine for the eleven inch. I looked at the twelve point nine inch version and have been living with for a little less than a week. Do you like it is it a so I think what I'm especially interested in is. Is it a computer replacement is it gonna replace affairs here? Yeah. What is it? What is it? Up replace. No, I don't think it's a very good laptop replacement because if you're looking for track pad support or mouse support it doesn't have that still, and it doesn't have the sort of web experience at the browser experience that you might expect that's on a Chromebook even that that allows for deeper web tools, but if you don't care about that if you have already been using an ipad or no tonight that pros bring to the table last year similar idea in the software hardware super blazing fast. And I think the design of it is really nicely refined. But that's kind of an apple trend of this year. Larger screens more refined higher price. Yeah. Good grief. The other thing. That's like the most aptly thing about this is that they came out with a new pencil that doesn't work with the old ipad. Yeah. Only works with this one. Yeah. So you have to buy new pencil, and it's one hundred thirty dollars hundred thirty dollars, which is ally. Now, the thing is if you've never gotten one of these before, and you get this now, the pencil charges and works, much, more seamlessly. It's great to have that. It's kind of like air pods. Nice instant available for you. Much better than that stabbing out the back, but to have to buy a whole new end, and I'd have any adapter for the old one is crazy. Okay. But okay, we're kind of focusing on some of the less, enjoyable parts of this. Did you like using it was it funded, you know, kind of draw with with the pencil where there are a lot of nice improvements. When when you're using it for what an ipad is for like all those are graphics everyday like a web razzing even writing I really like it. And I've traveled with an ipad a lot too is. I think to take notes with or just us on the train and for the amount of apps it has and for all that stuff. But what I don't like is when you have to start editing rave to start doing anything that gets more mission critical, which is the idea of pro that part. You can't take it with you. I don't think and file an entire story without a lot of headaches. So that part I don't like, but I did like the speed of it. I like the design refinement, there's more screen and less is. I wish you didn't cost more. Yeah. Yeah. No kidding. So we've also got. Even more election scams. We've got Alfred here to talk about them this one targeting vote for one one dot org. Tells you vote for one dot org is a voter information website, you can find out where to register to vote. What candidates you in your district stand for and what's on the ballot? Generally, John Oliver had promoted on a show last week tonight on October twenty eighth and I got a two thousand percent spike in traffic after that little promo and it two days after he promoted scammers set up a website called vote for one one dot com. Which is a common mistake that people would make most people are going dot com websites and this website, basically ran a online technical support scam. Which is if you ever go on a website. And it tells you like, hey, you've been infected with a virus? Please call this number to get it removed. And then you know, they essentially put a virus on your computer. If you do call that number, and then you acid you. They ask you to pay them to get rid of it was very common scheme. But now, they're using you know, curiosity around the mid term. Elections to basically use it as a watering hole type of attack where they know a lot of people are going to be looking for these election updates and things like that. And they're using that to their advantage. With a fake website. Do do we know if there are now more or less midterm related hacks or scams going on nowadays than maybe four years ago? I mean, it's unclear because anytime somebody gets hacked, it's not like there's somebody going out there say, hey, we did this or anything like that. But we do know that there have been. They're more vigilant about it. And there are a lot of examples about this so Microsoft in August talked about how they had gone rid of these websites that were basically doing the same thing. But it might have been for a lot more malicious purposes because so while the fake vote for on dot com website was more for financial gains the Russian websites that Microsoft had taken out more specifically like politically motivated. Great. If you want to read more about these stories, check us out on seen it. I'm Ben FOX urban. I'm offering I'm Scott Stein. Thanks for listening.
Apple gives ageing Macs, iPad Pros an update in New York
"The eleven inch models up one hundred fifty dollars from the version last year, the top of the line. I've had pro cost more than most full feature laptops, is this going to price some customers out of the market here. I think there's no question about that. You know to me it. To me. I sorta take away more of like the ultimate strategy of what apple starting to do with their their MAC lineup patent. It seems to me like with with them releasing the obviously the the well anticipated refresh air with I think what a higher price point than the industry expected. I think sort of puts the emphasis on this as being the most attractive large-screen product that apple has to offer these days. So yes, the price point puts this says very premium product. But then again, apple isn't selling pretty much anything in the market that that isn't premium right. So they're they're driving up cost. But they're adding features. And ultimately, I don't think that will scare way buyers. But I think as mentioned earlier on this call I don't think this changes, the tablet industry has a whole it's worth noting that when you break down the tablet industry, there's really two sections. There's one we call detachable tablets, which is the ipad pro the surface, and so forth, and that segment of the tablet market has been growing despite the overall tablet market declining. So it's not a surprise that the focus was around. Ipad pro adding the iphone features make sense. And you know, I think they're looking to this to be probably a more productive device in terms of sales overall in the long run, then probably the nap book air and lastly, David this was the first major revamp of the macro air in many years. I mean, what took the refresh so long? Well, I think they've been focusing on the phone because that's where the big money is probably, but I just wanted to mention my we Brian just mentioned the surface. I think we have to give Microsoft credit. They have done a more revolutionary set of changes in the way, they've sort of more the PC and the tablet into one device that basically serves as both. It's surprising to me that apple hasn't done that. And that we don't really see a device that is affecting touchscreen laptop, which I think I and many millions of users of MAC products would like to have. So in that sense. I would call an announcement. Like today's disappointment. Well, David wolf to see if that comes true for the next product refresh Ryan wreath of IDC. Thanks for joining us economy, founder, David Kirkpatrick, you're sticking with us. Coming up while this year selloffs
Are Apple's new products worth purchasing?
"Everything for. Yeah. Yeah. So I will undoubtedly by an ipad pro probably the to a point nine I will certainly by a MAC mini because my MAC mini has these spontaneous question, Mark that happens where I have to turn it off turn it off and on because it's like, oh, I forgot what I am like your computer. Hello wake up. And then you flip the what is often? What is it computer? Tim cook says the ipad is a computer. So I don't even know what's going on there. So we're gonna get those and. Medicare? You know, I don't use a MAC laptop very much anymore. I do have an Medicare. My son who is a freshman in high school is using a very old map book air of mine. A hand-me-down from many many many years before a eleven inch. And it's a miracle the things still works and that it runs anything, quite honestly. So is it possible that I might end up getting him this MAC book air at some point. Yes, it is possible. So I may end up buying all of it. Mike is what I'm saying. And that is terrifying. But hey, it happens. I haven't bought any of those things in a long time. I've Oded both. I pep pros to smoke. He wasn't too pencils. Wow. Yeah. I've been I've been saving for this. Like I've been waiting since June. I've been of employees in the money aside, and these are my computers, and I don't know if I will keep both I expect that I will honestly because I use them both for the very distinct purposes like by temple five is with me. Now might open nine is home when I get home toll point nine, and I've been signed to us ten point five rating and look. In bad and stuff like that. So I have like wrote distinct uses for both of these machines. And I am absolutely thrilled to be able to get my hands on them. Once I love doing instal pickup, and you caught order them for instal pick up right now. So it's all them home which hey because then they never delivers. And it's just like a whole big thing. So, you know. Yeah crossed. I guess I me. Yeah. I'm looking forward to trying it out and seeing about the sizes too. Because that's really we we we have our gut feeling here. But it is like the ones getting bigger in the ones getting smaller. And so how different are they in the end? I think there will still be some distinct differences, but we'll just have to say. Yeah, I'm really really really
"eleven inch" Discussed on Back To Work
"I don't know what you do with your bell. I'm still tell you what I tell my daughter. It's not my day to watch it. Where's my fifth in? I don't know. Yeah. She loves that loves that. We have fun. Don't we? Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So so you feel good. I think you know, I think macbook air. I think the macbook air is is a great, computer. My all time favorite MAC that I ever owned. Was the MAC book air eleven inch. That thing was so awesome. They don't they don't still owe the MAC book air eleven little tiny one. I love that that could put that in my back pocket and and walk around with that where's your computers right here. And you just pull the sand like what it's tiny. Oh, yeah. Looking at for that thing. But I only had one for a little while. I should've saved it for longer, but I wound up selling it. But the thirteen those are just wonderful. On that. The eleven I know. Yes, it's hilarious. It's like you're using like it's almost like a like using an essay or something. I think these things so these new macbook airs going to sell the hack out of I just they're going to be super popular. Because this for me, this is like the go-to computer for most people who wanna laptop. This thing is great. I don't know what the regular MAC book where that fits in anymore because that thing to me like I looked at those in the store recently because I went to to look at the apple watch the new one finally last week. And I looked at the MAC books. I thought, you know, those are really cute. Those are really nice computers. But something about the air is appealing. And I really I really liked this new one. I think this is this is a big deal. Yeah. And I this again, this feels like it's right in the pocket for somebody. Who's like going off to college or something like, right? Who's gonna live their life on, you know, got a phone, and they got a computer. And I think it's a nice feeling. To know that, you know, even especially if your price sensitive to something you don't want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars, which is I think most people. Yeah, it's nice to have that feeling that you're not getting a deal wildly or even deliberately diminished experience. Right, right. You know, like, there's always an sales. There's always that kind of classic bronze silver gold package, and you know, and the term for that like where you you do this pricing in such a way that most people will wanna buy the silver package right in any kind of large retail operation. There's usually like the there's the normal one the excellent one in the cheap one, and they know most people want to get the nicer version of the normal one. And if you're buying the quote, unquote, cheap version you like in this case, I don't know. I mean, I think for a lot of people this is going to meet a lot of needs. It. Sure helps it. There's two ports on there. Now. Don't you? Oh, totally. Yeah. I mean, the the logical, and I always return to Mark in on this because I think he's articulated this frustration so well, albeit as. As an edge case may be a corner case being somebody who wants a quote, unquote in this case, a MAC pro a professional computer that you can take somewhere and record with..

"The home screen doesn't have it. It's just the home screen is what it is, but everyone else it's there and. To me, it feels like I, I could turn it off you without even rearranging anything. You know everything in the same spot does not have the line there and I would. I would get along just fine like the you could have it with the gap, the so everything still inset slightly, and then just have just essentially have the ball disappear. Yeah, but then you might as well just have little bar there. I think it gives you that consistent Hayes because the other thing with the bar is if you go into like the camera app, it becomes unclear sometimes way you're supposed to swap to dismiss the camera. If you didn't have a ball, if you didn't have the indicator because the camera app doesn't change is ho interface. When you guys a landscape, you just kind of rotate some of the icons. Yeah. So if you're in landscape you can very clearly. No, you're that you're still swiping from that right hand side because the ball. 'cause you swiped where the bar is, whereas if you took the bar away, you then be lost about women landscape. I slept. A swipe from edge. Like I think it provides a, I'm ca- point. So people don't get sleep a loss, and you still get the Stig up most of the original life and appeal of if you ever get lost, you just got hired. Whereas if you get lost, you swipe out from this indicate you're in, you're going to get to the home screen. Yeah. One of the point is that on the eleven inch ipad in remodel Evans, ipad because there's a larger screen moving content around to accommodate four corners or home indicator, I think, isn't a problem because all in all you're getting more space and you had it on nine hundred, seven inch or Two and half a half inch. inch ipad on the Twelfth Night by. There's a lot of room there to play with, but he do lose space to home indicate. And then it's like you're getting this basil, est form factor, you know, with a lighter footprint. But in service of that, you'll lose a little bit of real estate. And that's not ideal. You don't wanna go backwards, you know, make a trade off there. So because it the rumor is hopeful engine, not like thirteen and a half or fourteen inch, and in the same body size as the current open, an inch I would, I think than than it is maybe something that you don't want to do is to lose any screen space to rounded corners or home indicator. Now, I, I still will say, like if I had to bet I would, I would expect rounded corners and indicator for consistency. The only other factor there is LCD displays versus Ola displays because on the on the iphone is an Ola display, and I think they'll plays into what they can do. Whereas LCD I don't know if it's if. It's a tricky. They're going to do it based on rumors for the middle sized iphone this year and the basil Zeise. You know, you can have larger vessels on the ipad. So maybe it's it's not a problem. But I mean, we've already seen the six point one inch iphone has the same Jen east close to the led screens, having the basil is, but still like, you know, another one one and a half millimeter on the end. LCD white stretch it as much as they can, where the screens again with the ipad. That's kind of an immaterial difference. 'cause we expect to the visit to be, you know, in the nine minutes range Rodman the three, four range anyway. So yeah, it's like if you didn't care about of like holding the ipad with with hands thumbs and you had an ipad, you could have maybe an even thinner basil and you might require Nacho because I'm still very much in the camp of nut thinking that we, we're going to notch on Pat. I, I people think is a given and especially because of the changes in Iowa's twelve for they move the satisfy your stuff around and make room for a notch. I just I really those fairly that you can have a uniform basil and include all the singers within that basil and have no notch like, and because.

"Apple introduced an eleven inch model but they also had a new 13 inch model and it was wedgeshaped wore wedgeshaped more squared off in the previous very rounded very curved model and had more poor it's a wider variety of ports and that really sort of made it accessible to people who needed those things but also the price came down the original macbook air started at seventeen hundred dollars and eventually as we saw over the time the thirteen inch mac book is now you'll stone apples lineup it is now nine hundred and ninety nine dollars it replace the old white plastic mac book as the entry level mac both the one that just all you know by default anyone who wants a mac but doesn't want to pay necessarily huge prices for it goes and gets and that was sort of transformative because it brought what was apple's most advanced laptop and made it their most mainstream uh laptop and manned everybody in the industry race to copy that mac book air that wedgeshaped i mean even intel who was apples partner intel who was on stage quality leaney then ceo of intel was on stage showing how they made a cord to do processor in a much sixty percent smaller package for apple your real partnership on this they they saw that ultra books for the future and they try to bring that to the pc market as fast as they can result was for years almost every ultralight laptop looked as close as possible to amac book air um was you know perhaps the most transformative laptop of the modern era and we we still have it obviously stolen apples lineup and recently apple has really done.
