"Here at home gadget Geeks we cover all the favorite tech gadgets at finding news reviews product updates and conversation all for the avid me my marines son was home and I wanted I wanted to ask Russia event and you know I think the other thing about cigar smoking is it tends to be a very then arcane unravel on you if you cut passed the cap of the cigar if the cigar is over humidifier side or not kept at the right temperature when you enter a danger zone you know if you go to high on the humidity's cigars will get mold on them and at that point rahman the trash under about you jim but I don't WanNa smoke mold you know the one people are less aware of is the temperature danger right so somewhere around even seventy two degrees and seventy two plus percent humidity tobacco beetles can hatch and they're nice little boring creatures not boring as in all what they'll bore right through the wrapper leaf even right through cellophane so if you're not careful you can get an infant station in your whole humidor and you know some people have hundreds or thousands of dollars Dar's temperature become CBS important as well so you know for most folks you WanNa find the coolest spot in your house to put your Humidor if you're really in a high temperature area without air conditioning you've gotta make accommodations to control temperature and fortunately there's more products these days for that yeah and we're GonNa talk about those here in just a second I wanna let's let's start with some basics because I think sometimes when people think cigars they think of big box a humidors or they think about like their DADS something their dad had or the grandfather had in in I've really kind of taken onto the new movement of kind of acrylic in a Lotta ways and you can see gotta you know human stat there then is telling me temperature and and I think you know this is seventy six I got a little warm because it's sitting on my desk and I think the the heat from my computer there's is I'll move this back into a cooler zone when we're done here but good to know like seventy six sixty nine percent I got this acrylic also bought I went to Walmart and bought just a clear acrylic you know six dollar waterproof air proof right so you can see them in 'em I I mean is this okay ed can I get can I get away with kind of starting my cigars this way absolutely really you know people will call those atop adore where humidor yeah you know the only thing to be aware of an it's not a a problem for most folks is it is airtight whereas a wooden humidor really isn't right so cigars are still aw aging in fermenting even you know once they're in the consumer's hands so some folks will say you you actually need to burp your top of door now and then so you know just and it happens naturally you're smoking anyway you're going to open it to take us ago but a little bit of Eric's change is certainly helpful that's good that's good to know these just pop open like this and then you can hear the seal and man smells so good to put it back on you know the thing for folks to be aware of though is then it becomes important to me parole humidity right and have something that can actually absorb as well as add humidity to the air because especially in an airtight if you don't have the right product you're gonNA over humidifier though cigars yeah yeah is that right product so I've I've noticed the bovid over as a very popular product and I've got the sixty nine you know sixty nine percent humidity and is out great job they do and and let me just so for those who don't know the bovid a product it's a pack it's got some kind of substance in so it looks like a paper bag a small paper bag of sore in his Scott some gel or something in there that both adds and removes me addity based on the the SPEC that's on it right so if it's too humid it'll pull in if it's not humid enough to put it out pretty genius especially if you're an tupper door I know it it's keeping a consistent because I haven't you've got one of these two you were showing earlier remote right here normally it's in the humidor yeah remote temperature in in humidity sensor that sits in there I think I paid maybe twenty twenty two bucks twenty bucks for their relatively inexpensive the this particular product isn't necessarily designed for humidors but it works perfectly fine you know what think they they sell it more as put it in your greenhouse or something yeah but worked works out pretty well though sits sits right in there I she goes to my I have a the android tablet that it that I actually run the software on it sits on it's telling me to it's seventy seven degrees I need to get the cooler it's the I mean it's a relatively rudimentary APP but it does what you needed to do yeah I know you can set said alert if it goes below a certain range or above a certain range so you know I keep it in the the humidor but that's sort of by General House temperature alert to you know if it goes below about fifty degrees I know I got big problems but yeah for sure in we're in this weird spot now in the fall where it's not cold enough for the heat to kick on but it's the house is insulated well enough that stays pretty warm it won't the air conditioner won't come John and so we get kind of a a little bit a few degrees warmer event in the winter we get a few degrees warmer in here so I need this is probably the time of year this is the first fall that I've had a humidor working and it's probably one of those things because of the Beatles probably need to be careful how long would it need to be at the let's say close to eighty degrees for those things to emerge to is there a time you know it might be within a week or so and it's not a guaranteed right some of the manufacturers now deep-freeze their cigars and then you will not have a problem with Beatles if you do that the obsessive consumer sometimes we'll also freeze everything that comes into their house but I don't know it doesn't hurt that doesn't unhurt the cigar doesn't does if you search there's a whole process right so you gotta get it in an airtight bag refrigerate for a little while all I to let them start to adapt to it and then into the freezer for I think it seventy two hours you know but a quick online search will yield but I've never bothered yeah yeah and I have an in the year or two I've been doing this I've never had I know it's a legend thing a lot of guys and ladies talk about you know you don't want to get those well you don't I mean it's really bad if it happens in the world unless you thousands of dollars scars right I've been smoking cigars for thirty years never frozen single one never had a single Beatles J. but it's the one of the things that freaks people out and so I think it's now if I was in a space and where say I'm in a really really dry sonal and it just doesn't get the house doesn't necessarily cool down to that to that optimum temperature it's not I don't WanNa throw him in the fridge right this isn't one of those kinds of things because the humidity will drop pretty severely very dry in the fridge so you definitely never want them in there that I could what about a wine if I had a wine fridge which isn't quite as cold can cannot something like that work so you know as it turns out some companies are actually marketing their wine fridges if you and we can screen share here if you WanNa if you.

"He was on the ed Sullivan show the directors did not shoot him from the waist down that's right that was at a time when Elvis is shaking out I you know it was seen as you know very lascivious and and again when at that time rock and roll was you know really because you know the older generation was afraid of rock and roll and and what it was doing to kids and and all that so I think was after another show he was on another show when he was shaken maybe with Milton Berle or something and he was shaken so much and the girls are screaming that's when ed Sullivan who did not really initially want Elvis on his show he we we had to be convinced that you know you be offices on several other shows before it's all been so ed Sullivan had him on the show but the no it in return he insisted that he'd be shot only from the waist up my gosh how times have changed yeah lightly it's interesting to remember those days you know and early rock and roll and and rock and roll was then thought of is just you know teenage music and the idea you know one of the things that happened to Elvis you know he he got older he was over thirty was thirty four when the door opened in one state and it was a time when people didn't think that rock and rollers had it had a career after thirty that's right yeah son in Sinatra hated rock and roll what he liked Elvis yeah well that was that it was an interesting relationship by I think he he he did hate rock and roll it's at least in the fifties when I first you know came along once the most was a threat to you know Sinatra style of music and he made some statements kind of disparaging the music bad when Elvis came back from the army the first show that he went on a TV show that he went on when he came back with Frank Sinatra because and I knew what a big draw on these the sing a song together yeah the thing a couple each things each other's songs the the prank saying Bobby tender and Elvis sang witchcraft how much of a Titan do you think Elvis was by the time he died how big was he he was as big as as they can be I mean that those shows he still is even near the end when it shows were we sat kind of dragging a little an Elvis was not looking so great they was still selling out he was still drawing people and the the and this was he he he got realize this is really the first of those sort of sudden death some you know premature deaths in the rock world that you know it was it was such a big deal then and now alas we've we've got a little be used with these kind of you know the drug overdoses and eating you know the the crazy lifestyle that leads to a lot of times people leaving us too soon but that was the first one and and so that just it it made him bigger and death almost any was in life yeah absolutely Sir treasure I remember seeing him on the television show never saw him live but saw him in the television show and how bloated he was Richard in it was sad yeah you might have seen it was right near the end of his life I think it was seventy seven they did a special with him and you know what I've never had the you know stomach to watch at all because it's he he doesn't look good and even you know his friends were very unhappy that he sent his costume he he's in his costume any lease just hanging out of it yeah and you know you can see it in in some other Vegas shows to how he was gaining weight but interestingly enough.

And then our and roughly eleven minutes, it will be December twenty third getting much much closer to that. Yeah. On the cast. So tell people what we're doing 'cause new people always tune in. Well, we just played a version of baby it's cold outside by gentleman and a lady both well known singers. And if you can identify both voices you have the opportunity to win a WBZ shirt. Now, there's a controversy about the Sar. Just crept up over the past year or two I think it's so stupid and here one of the states that refuses to play it is Ohio with a rock and Roll Hall of fame is in Cleveland has got much more suggestive lyrics. You know? Write this song was introduced in nineteen nineteen forty-nine Neptune's daughter by Ricardo mall to burn multiple on and the Esther Williams. Okay. That's the first time. I heard it. And then in the same movie red Skelton did it with somebody else. I can't remember who very popular song. I just think it's ridiculous. All this controversy of the Rolling Stones when Ed Sullivan wouldn't let them sing. Let's spend the night together. And he made them change a word. It's been some time together, and that was sixty five for goodness sake. Yeah. I know. Amazing. Oh, my anyway, we got some calls got call. Okay. Let's go to Mike in Beverly. Hello, mike. Appreciate it is now on hold, you know, when I was going to guess, and this is me being kind of witchy. I was going to guess. Sammy Davis junior and Kim Novak. Well, I ever heard Kim Novak saying I I never have either. But I thought that might have been an interesting Perry would be imitating life from one great looking gal. They were engaged at one time. They were that's way Senate. Yeah. Because a lot of controversy in its time, which again was stupid and her her agent or agency begged her implored her not to do it. And on the rebound. He went to my bridge. Yeah. That that didn't last too long either. But Carman in her time was a terrific singer. I remember one one song. She did that. I always love. They all laughed at Christopher Columbus. Remember, that's yeah. And that was. Who's covered? That's got the less left. Now, we should take this on the road. Hey, hey, we could bring back vaudeville which has been dead for many many years, and people would blame that's for the death of our travel ably would yes our ages don't match out, but they don't care about. Absolutely, not right. Have we got time? Oh, we got plenty. No. You know, we talk about Christmas. We talk about Hanukkah, but I've never played in a New Year's song. And this is easy gang. Here's the most popular new year song. And it was also the theme song of a very famous orchestra leader who played it for many, many years new years eve, so.
