"I guess I wanted to ask you about it is all these failures in the top five over the years, especially since 2000 Eric. We often hear people say, Well, yeah, but, you know, Donald, I mean, he had nobody with him if he went somewhere else, if he was at Pittsburgh, you know you'd see that he is really good. And we hear that about a lot of guys and my counter is when I look at the list. Of all the guys that failed. I don't see that Joey Harrington or Blake Bortles. There's Mark Sanchez or all these guys went somewhere else and then succeeded. You know, it's not like they found new life somewhere else. And see. I told you, you see, I told you when he went to a good team, he'd show up. That doesn't happen very often. What's your take on all that? Yeah, it's a fair point. I mean, you see the Ryan Tannehill type situation every now and then we're a guy kind of comes out of his shell little bit or, you know you could go back and find other examples on that level. But you're right. It's not as if somebody Completely claims out. One team gets traded for a bag of donuts and then goes to his new team. And, yeah, and thrives, right? I mean, You know, Drew Brees obviously is a little bit of a different situation. That was now we're going back. 15 20 years now, So, Yeah, it's just there aren't as many examples of that. Has Argument would suggest this should be right. But I do think it matters and I think you know, having a quarterback and a head coach in or offensive coordinator. On the same page with a good plan with a smart vision for what they're how they're progression should look It matters. I mean, right? I don't know that you could suggest that Mr Boesky, you know, could have gone to another team and been taking along a little slower and had a better cast and all of a sudden he'd have been You know, in all pro player, I don't think that would happen, And I think it's a fair point to say that while fit matters Ultimately, you know the talent and the you know the commitment level is going to end up being the biggest factors. Yeah, it's just It's just fascinating to me, really, because they all have so much talent so much promise, and so many of them flame out and they are in bad situations. We admit that that's why the team is picking in the top five because they have a lot of problems. So we admit that it's not like you don't admit it. It's just that it rarely. It rarely turns into Ah Tannehill getting a breath of fresh air situation or a Drew Brees situation. Mostly, it's fade away. You know, it's just fade away. The guy never makes it anywhere. And at best, he's a backup somewhere. You know the way Marcus Marry OTA is right now, for example, so I just think it's an interesting phenomenon and one That, you know, I guess it speaks to the team nature of the game too. Because as much as you want to solve your problem with that first pick or you better be right. I mean, Joe Douglas better get his free agents, right? And he better get the rest of the draft. Right. Forget the number two pick. He better be right with number 23 right on through that draft if he's going to turn around that franchise Way always. You know, shower teams of praise when they were able to land the big trade. You know, nets, where they move down and all look, we got to feature first when we got this. We got that. You still have to make the picks and execute him, right? You can get great value. But if you don't know how to spend the the currency, it's not gonna be much good, right? I mean, I Hey, I hope Bitcoin when it was worth this Well, now it's worth this right. Yeah, that's that's There isn't a depreciation on on draft picks. If you're not coming through it a higher than average rate. Yeah, And if you look at the teams, that's right, and if you look at the teams that have failed and have been perennial failures, you see that can't draft. I mean, there's just no good at it. They don't have players, you know, and I always view America's as Do you have, like when you're trying to evaluate your team and you're trying to be rational and you're trying not to be biased because you root for them? Ask yourself one question which players on your team to other teams covet. Who do they want right? And you look at these four teams. They don't have any players that other teams want. Which shows you that they've really drafted poorly. So as much as we focus on the top of the draft, because that's where the fun is. It really is the nuts and bolts and the free agent signings and how they fit that that determine whether your team's gonna be a winner or not. Yeah, they're they're arm or undrafted free agents currently populating the NFL than there are first round picks. I mean, I know that when you hear that, do you think we'll dof course because they're more of them. But The point is these they're supposed to be the guys that were In draftable, right? They went 250 plus picks without being chosen. And yet these guys are on rosters at a higher rate than the first round. You know, so Yeah, it speaks to the importance of the entire draft and not just throwing away 5th and 6th and 7th round picks because Well, we're looking good. Yeah, we're all set here. No, that's such a crucial part of the process. And you always have this, you know, take as many swings is possible. But I also know where you're going with the ball too. So, yeah. That's why I love the draft process. You get guys to, you know, like a Phillip Lindsay, who barely just heard any kind of draft. You know attention, and then all the sudden becomes a good player and things like that. It's an inexact science. But the guys, there are teams to do it better. What's your Syrian? Why they're wrong. So often? I mean, this is what they're paid to do. And yet they're wrong so often, and we can actually argue on sports talk radio. And feel okay about it because they don't put us to shame. You know, we're just observers have very little into it, Except for we watched him college games and see where that could look good to me or Look at the tape on this kid. He looks good, but we're not paid to know. We don't know. And yet these guys they're just as just is likely to be wrong as we are, or so it seems, anyway. All of these players are talented. All these players have athletic ability. All of these players air in the you know the upper, you know, reaches of the talent quotient here, but Really comes down to. I think health and character that are the two biggest things like when. When I go to the combine. Everybody wants to talk about the 40 yard dash, but When I speak with NFL, folks, the stuff that really interests them the most. Yes, the workouts a part of the equation. But really, it's the medical information in the interviews of players, we didn't have a combine this year. You know, everything has gone virtually. I know they've gotten used to that after last year's, you know, cut off. Sort of offseason whatever. But This. This draft is gonna have a high bus straight. I can tell you that right now. Because of the lack of information because of the number of opt outs because the number of Sort of unknowns out there, especially with the medical and character..

"Love it. He is the number two wide receiver for a Ryan Fitzpatrick team, But find wrong with that? Yeah. Let's get into his guys. Samuel's great On blast year in a crowded receiving group. He was the wide receiver, too. So listen to the next six picks her mentioning for it's getting bad. Gardner Menchu. Thailand. Wallace, rookie card. Various Tony rookie fits Rashard Higgins and then Odell Beckham, who was still on the board. Odell Beckham sitting at 9 12 9 12 and a dynasty startup, then Tyler Boyd. Also good Jalen hurts, I would have Thing about taking even when I took a quarterback in Prescott Round five. Yep. That cuts you off of a lot of other good options. Rogers Burrow Watson hurts. I was tempted to take hurts and round nine. But just like with Prescott there only to back up, but I just felt a little bit wasted. Robbie Anderson at 10 03. Mike gets sticky. Him, Patrick and then Zach Moss. 10 06. I think there's life in Zach Moss and fantasy. I like him a lot last year. It didn't work out. Alan is their goal line. Running back option and the goal line runner running option and so we've seen it with Singletary and with Moss me. They threw the ball so well. It just didn't even need that dimension. At all but I guess. I'm gonna have to fade for the bills, you know for Moss. Running back on the first half of this draft, and I want to think that the bills will know to do that that they will not be in the running back business. But I wouldn't bet heavily that I'm right on that. Over to you. Dallas Goddard will be my tight and one. I think Senator earlier thought he could lead the Eagles and targets. Yeah, I don't have the receivers. Pass on Drew Brees. The recommended choice here. He'll be on it. Your auto drafted soon anyway. So Yeah, right. Let somebody.

Drew Brees Retires After 20 NFL Seasons and Leaves a Legacy

"The end of an era in New Orleans as if this shocks us Drew Brees announced his retirement After Twenty seasons in the NFL the past 15 with the Saints and the first five would Sandy a.m. When they were the Chargers kids back when they were the Chargers, you know, his kids made the actual official statement on his Instagram. He posted a video of the four of them announcing that he was retiring to spend more time with them which was kind of cute and relatable. But is this Chaka say me. I mean, I think we all saw it coming. Yeah. No, it doesn't shock me. I'm it makes me sad though, cuz I think that he could have kept going but again like this season, he was playing with like Seventeen broken ribs and a collapsed lung. I mean it was insane.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees retires from NFL after 20 seasons

"Let's talk about Drew Brees. After Twenty Years in the NFL Drew Brees has officially retired and it took so long. I was actually wondering whether or not maybe even if it was ever going to happen, you know, the Superbowl came and walk and I figured he do it after the Superbowl and there was no announcement. I'm like, oh, it's is Drew Brees coming back. Like What's Happening Here? Well, he made the announcement fifteen years to the day that I first signed in New Orleans, March 14 2006. So 15 years later to the T to the day he retired that's kind of cool and poetic. It's a clean fifteen years with the Saints

"drew brees" Discussed on First Take

"I am only retiring from playing football. I'm not retiring from new orleans. This is not goodbye rather a new beginning now. My real life's work begins again showing the character heart of one of the greatest to ever do it. Stephen i'll start with you. What do you think drew. Brees is legacy is well. I think he's gonna go down as one of the all time greats. Anytime you pass for eighty thousand yards you lead to. Nfl are your number one in history in terms of Of passing yards. I believe touchdowns republican and seventy one. If i remember correctly His accuracy of was one of the all the all time greats in terms of that. And i think that he was class personified. I mean a lot of noise was made during the whole social justice issue movement about you know what his opinions warren how. They differ from that of his teammate. Malcolm jenkins and others but the reality is they buy that knows. Drew brees knows that he's been classed personified. He's been a voice on behalf of the players for the nfl players association He's just a class individual. He's a champion He's an all time great as a pass. It is no doubt about that. And i'm looking forward to seeing him in the booth as well. He's going to have a challenge in that regard. Because i think that tony romo has raised the bar with his charisma not football acumen as well but we know that drew brees has that. There's no question about that. But having that charisma and the booth for nbc. That'll be interesting to see. But that's the only question mark about him. Nobody's gonna ever questioned his credentials. Nobody's going to have a question the fact. He's one of the all time great quarterbacks and to be quite honest with you want it all time. Great people saw. And i think that who would've ever thought that we'd see a retirement and death which afford kids and into such a beautiful beautiful seed but it's typical of you get from drew brees. The guy a gets it done ominous classified and doing so and just leaves touches on your heart strings and things of that nature. I'm just happy for him. He's forty two years of age and obviously thought it was time to go into this By and large by by the way most of us feel and nothing but the best to i'm looking for moving new brees is hall of famer when you when i think drew brees. I will think accuracy. He's the most accurate quarterback i've ever seen and i referred to. The social media thing went viral little while back where he's competing against an olympic archer and olympic archer and olympic archer from the same distance. Hits the bullseye like three out of ten times and drew brees at seven five something like that. He's he's more accurate. With the football than an archer olympic archer and new orleans getting traded from san diego to new orleans he became and then the whole going through katrina and then winning a super bowl there and then even what he says he says. I'm retiring from football. Not from new orleans absolutely identify him with that area but more than all that stuff drew brees has something if you've ever been the same room with him. Ever talked to him. And i have a couple of times through the years. Has something guys magic johnson. Has this magic. Johnson walks into a room. You can see the everyone in. that room. wants to be the best version of themselves. They don't wanna let magic. He has that whatever it is he has that makes people feel that way and he also makes you believe in yourself. Drew brees wife not dealt with nearly as much as magic. He walks into a room. Everyone feels good. And there's something you mentioned. Charisma that tony romo has on the air. It's a different kind of charisma or effect on other people and it is it. You can see why he was a great quarterback and a great leader and that's what all remember about drew brees. Yeah i think drew brees is the greatest signing in the picture of the nfl. It's better than reggie white. He's better than peyton manning. It's better than when dion sanders signed as a free agent. I think he's the greatest or one of the greatest players at his position. Ever come into the nfl and he's probably a better person in comparison to the player that he was he absolutely unquestionably has earned a seat at the table when we have the conversation of greatest of times. We're talking about a guy. There's eleven times in the history of the. Nfl has a quarterback throwing for five thousand yards in a single season drew. Brees has done it five times. He's got the greatest completion percentage in the history of the nfl. Six out of the top nine seasons drew brees. Has there's been three quarterbacks in the history of the nfl that of a qbr of seventy or more. Tom brady peyton. Manning drew brees. He leads in yards. He leads incompletions. He's got the streak of complete a touchdown passes on consecutive games fifty four. He's gonna hold hold multiple. Nfl records. He's one of the best quarterbacks that we've ever seen come into the nfl but it's also his impact on quarterback play you know quarterback conversation fifteen years ago. We use the word accuracy. Max you just did. I actually think drew brees took it to a different level. There's a difference between being accurate and being able to have ball placement his ball placements greatest ever and now. That makes us look at quarterbacks a little bit differently. I also question would russell wilson be b russell. Wilson in the russell wasn't that we know of without a guy like drew brees without a guy that was shorter and didn't have the strongest arm and how to make up for those things how to take weaknesses and make them strengths by work ethic and mindset and focus and all that stuff so i think is impact on football is unmeasured and we don't really appreciate how great of a person when it comes to that he drew brees was so greatest free agent signing in the history of the. Nfl's me works for me. Works for me here. Because i want to talk a little bit more about the numbers and dan. You mentioned some of them. Because they're really quite impressive. And i didn't realize he was first and so many categories so i wanna put the full screen really quick obviously for this future hall of famer here. He's.

Key Super Bowl Matchups: The Case for the Kansas City Chiefs & Tampa Bay Buccaneers Winning Sunday

"The Kansas City Chiefs versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The long road that led us here with many unique twists and turns is a story unto itself. Now, in about 3.5 hours, the game which promises history, the chief's looking to become the ninth team with back to back titles. The Bucks hoping to put 1/7 Super Bowl ring on Tom Brady's hand. I'm Scott Graham. Happy to be back with your four Super Bowl Sunday, and my co host is a man who won two Super Bowls back to back, including an M V P honor for Super Bowl 32. He's an NFL network in Westwood, one analyst, the Hall of Famer, and he's been with us each week on this program all season long. Well, Davis. Welcome aboard. Scott. Man, It is eyes exciting and getting ready for this big game. A man I'll tell you what. When you look at how this one is going to play out, everybody is focusing on the quarterback's rightfully so. But when you start looking at a couple of the individual matchups in this game, there is a lot that ends up coming into play. And one of the things that everybody's been focusing on all week is the fact that the chief's dinged up on the offensive line going with backups there against a really strong past Russian. It Defense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That seems at least right now to be one that's playing at its peak. Is that the key matchup in your mind? Well, that is one of them. I mean, we look at the Bucks defense and we've seen what they looked like the last couple of weeks and listen. Todd Bowles, Their defensive coordinator, has really got them dialed in. They've gotten after, and Rogers drew Brees and, you know, I think this defense is going to be, you know, formidable when it comes to getting after Patrick Mahomes, but You know, he's such a great quarterback. He's such a guy that can get out of situations that you don't think he could get out off s. Oh, that's gonna be a challenge for this team as well. When you look at it, and from your perspective, especially, I mean a running back a hall of Fame running back and very rarely these days is anybody say, Well, the running game is going to be a really big part of this. It seems like that's becoming an antiquated idea. Can the running game for the chief's help in some way, take away some of the aggressiveness of the Tampa Bay defense? Yeah, I believe so, Scott, because you know all the focus of this game really is gonna be on the chief's weapons, right? You know, you got obviously Tyree Kill Travis Kelsey. Then you have the other guys out there to me, Cole Harmon. And then you have Clyde. That was the lair who last year was an El s. You had a phenomenal national championship game, and I think a game like this is going to bode well for him, because if you're tired of those, you can't double team everybody. Somebody's got to have one on ones. And if you're the bucks, you've got to put more people in coverage. So that's gonna leave a light box for Clyde Edwards. He layer not only running but the short passing game, and I think that Eric the enemy, and Anne Rie will find a way to make this young man have an impact in a game like this. On the other side. Everybody, of course, is focusing on Tom Brady. I mean, he got them here, and he is once again right in the middle of the possibility of winning a super books. 10th visited pressure absurd, absurd. When you look at this team, they've got a whole bunch of weapons as well. Is there one that you focus on the offensive side of the ball for Tampa Bay? That you think might have a bigger impact in this game than another? I do. I think it's actually Leonard for net and not necessarily in the running game. But little has been Really good and their passing game, And I think that kind of matchup between Leonard for Net and the linebacker Damian Will Wilson and Anthony Hitchens from the chief's, because when you start doing that thing where they played in week, 12 Barnett had a decent game, but Ronald Jones caught the ball in the flat and was able to have a long touchdown score from that ball that was thrown into the flat. So no one is talking about that. But I think that again, Hitchens and Wilson is gonna have to have a really good game and not again. It's not with him running with the football. He's been a threat as a receiver, which is something that his game is never had. So I think, you know, Of course. Tom Brady likes to get his backs involved in games like this member James White. He had a phenomenal Super Bowl. So I think later for now is gonna be a guy that's gonna have to have a huge impact. Last thing for this segment does the first meeting have any impact on what we're about to see in a few hours here or is that just research? Yeah, I think you could take some things. Most coaches look at the game and they kind of take The things that sort of worked, you know, everything goes. She kind of just you pick things of a game and say Okay, well, we have success against his team before. You know, we'll try to do it again this time, but maybe we're gonna disguise it a little differently, but run the same kind of plays. So, yeah, I think you there's things that each team can take from that meeting. But, you know, I think it's about who can make those adjustments and going into this game. I think ultimately it's going to be the team that comes out

Drew Brees, Saints rework contract to save almost $24M in cap space

"And Drew Brees agreed to a restructuring of his contract. You're probably thinking, Oh, man, he is coming back when they don't know they restructured his 24 plus million dollar contract down to the veteran's minimum of like a million and change. Why would they do that? Well because he's going to retire. And so that way it opens up that cap space and they've got that available and ready so that they sort of know where they're at. And so that, so that was just a sign an indication that Drew Brees. He's done there already, you know, going through the motions, and it's over. Is anybody surprised that Drew Brees because also, Sean Payton said he expects a for a decision from Drew Brees next week. Anybody all that surprised that Drew Brees is waiting until after the Super Bowl to make his decision on his retirement?

Mahomes the rare quarterback with no weakness

"For the back on stage. Again for mahomes. It's quite a feat to be this good at this age. One imams teammate. Slave bell has only been with the chiefs a couple months clearly though. He's seen enough to determine that. Patrick mahomes could very well the the greatest player ever take a listen a great thing. More petty is. I never played these his first year. What are you gonna like popular. I think i was sitting out now. So i never played against bad but always of always washed on. I'm always thought he was like a great player. Then i came here. And then when i came here. That's when i really hit me like off like he might be the greatest player ever because the way practice. You know High goes about his business. People see the throws and things that have that he does in the game if things kind of like. I don't know there's like an accident but it's not he practices. It's so much like i wish. Obviously early practice unbelievable but my idea of thought. He's a ten before i came here now. These probably go twelve former offer running back. Brian west for joining us now brian. Good morning to you. Let me start with this. Eating people are rushing to crown. Patrick mahomes the next goat morning and you know this is going to be unpopular comment because i know we have the number one. She's saying in the world in nick right here but we are absolutely rushing to crown patch homes way too early but i understand why i understand. Why because he's had a great start to his career one of the best ever. We see the arm talent. We see all the special throws. But i want to remind you guys. Three guys bridge star drew brees and aaron rodgers. Three guys that have a combined three super bowls. Each one of those guys went to one and one thing that we want to talk about. Is that after. Each one of those guys won the super bowl. Everyone was saying they're going to be the next goat. They are the greatest of all time. They're going to go on a run. They're going to win. Multiple super bowls over and over and over. Brett farve actually made it to super bowl the next year in lost and that one so i think we have to be patient as far as how far we push these guys to saying that. They're the dote pack them host. Who has a long way to go and just to show that. I'm going to give you my top number one. Obviously tom brady ten super bowls being able to make the super bowl playing in his forties. That's amazing number. Two joe montana. Four for four in the super bowls they also achieved the rare feat of winning three in a row nineteen ninety there in the nfc championship game. He gets out by leonard. Marshall they won the super bowl that they would have won that game and then number for three. We talk about peyton manning. Mvp trophies and so we know how special peyton manning wasn't what he meant to our game. So i think we have to understand how much further patch mahomes has to go. But we have mentioned this as well if hashem aho's wins two more meaning this one and another one and then he goes on to shatter all of the passing and td record at that point. He enters the room with the conversation of the greatest of all time. At that point he inches that room. And then we say okay. Maybe it's not just about the super bowls. Maybe now we can look at the armed town. We can look at the mobility all the other things around. Just than just winning super bowls at that point when i look at it.

The case for Baylor at No. 1 over Gonzaga

"The only respectful way to begin. This episode is by recognizing that scott drew baylor bears formerly known. As bill henderson's baylor bears improved a seventeen on the season tuesday night with an eighty-three sixty nine victory at texas. They outscored the longhorns. By seven in the first half they outscored the longhorns. By seven in the second half as a result baylor otherwise known as terry eagles alma mater is now seventeen and fifteen. Double digit wins. The bears are number one at kim palm. Their number one in the net. they are awesome undeniably. Norlander your turn to talk about baylor. Are you going to spend the next few minutes showing proper respect for the first lady of baylor basketball or are you going to once again disrespect. Kelly drew got drew. Plus mackenzie payton brody. Not to mention homer and janet price and tara dana and her husband. Casey bryson anna isaiah caleb. In luke plus drew barrymore drew carey. Drew brees drew bledsoe. Dr drew drew. Gooden andrew mcintyre how are you gonna handle this moment. bryce doesn't care does care. He'd bryce doesn't care. I talk to about it. He doesn't care. How are you going to atone for the fact that you still have a number one. I mean. I think it's disrespectful at this point. Daily top twenty five and one. After what i saw last night. I got baylor number one. But you don't and you disrespect the entire through family. And every drew. She has to drew mcgarry as well. You're disrespecting them all you've got number two. I think you're the one who needs to explain himself. I actually can't explain myself. And i do get asked this every day. I saw strong joe last night trying to make the case that baylor should be number one and i let it be clear. I won't argue with anybody that says baylor should be number. One baylor at this moment has a better resume than gonzaga. Got six quarter on lindsay. Does eggs only have five. Baylor is got the best adjusted efficiency margin in the country and one of the best of all time at this point. If you wanna if you wanna put baylor number one it is fine with me. It's just. I think we've talked about this. Before i made a rule a longtime ago i will not drop number one team unless it loses the only time i made an exception i went and looked it. Up is two seasons ago. Kansas was number one in the top twenty five and one to open the season. Kentucky might have been to. Duke was in the top five somewhere and do zion williamson cameras and remember the other one started with our allies and it was. It was whatever it doesn't matter. It doesn't rj barrett and so they went out and they just throttled kentucky on opening night at bankers life. And i just. I was even conflicted. Then because keynes's is just one and it was one zero and number one and i was like i don't feel silly not to have that duke team. That just did that to kentucky ranked number one. So i made an exception to the rule. Then but i've been ranking college basketball teams for better or worse for like more than fifteen years now and i've only dropped a number one team without losing one time and that is the example.

NFL Playoff Predictions: Green Bay Packers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

"We'll start things off in the nfc where the green bay packers playing host to the tampa. Bay buccaneers. You're looking at green bay. Three and a half point favorite at faneuil sportsbook total in this game at fifty one and a half and pain. When i dug into this game i was blown away not by some of the statistics that are there the xs and os but by the simple fact that this'll be aaron rodgers first. Nfc title game. That will at home given everything he's been able to accomplish in his career and greenvale have something pretty strong working in their favor when you consider that since the wild card round began in nineteen seventy eight teams playing their third straight road game or just five and twelve against the spread for thirteen straight up so tampa get have to work against that particular trend but when you have the greatest of all time at the quarterback position. I'm sure a lot of your fears are swayed by all of that when you try and identify some of the matchups here we know these teams that. You're just assuming. Patrick mahomes doesn't get seven. Well a patron hose may seven. But he's not the go he might be the go in waiting. And who knows. Maybe we'll get a ceremonial passing of the baton from tom to patrick in tampa in two short weeks. But we're getting ahead of ourselves there as well when you look at this particular game and i know we go through the offense versus defense but which side of the ball is going to be more fascinating for you to watch tom. Brady against this. Suddenly resurgent packers defense. Who in my opinion really hasn't been tested over the last couple of weeks or aaron rodgers looking to atone for his worst performance of the season against the tampa bay bucks defensive front. I think they're both interesting. Obviously in one thing that we've talked about air this entire postseason is we're getting some good matchups. We're getting some great games. We have to be thrilled with the four teams remaining. And i know browns fans won't like this but we don't have a team that's undeserving or doesn't belong. We don't have a team. That's seven and a half eight win. Team somehow sneaking their way into the final four so to speak here with with an upset win and then taking advantage of an injury to the most important play like we have the four teams. Here that are right up there in the power rankings. You could certainly say the saints or there but you know if if i think we knew exactly what was wrong with drew brees report we might not have the saints as the top five credential. You you mean his wife coming out and saying he played the latter portion of the season with a torn labor. Him didn't have any effect on his lacklustre efforts. Throwing the ball downfield torn torn labor. M- rotator cuff torn plantar fascia and still had. I guess three fractured ribs most healed but right and so i think that was part of the the line move last week now for sure looking at this right in this match while we're getting the great games and i of go back to my initial thought here while we're getting the great matchups for us to watch there's so much variance there so many like holes to attack. That team can do that. Like sometimes you get games whereas like you break them down. Nearly there's nothing really there. These games have a lot here. And whichever one can. It's going to cause this massive variance in the game. I think we even said that last week in the packers we're going to find out who's for real. We think the packers defense is packers. Offense is really good. We think the rams defense is really good. Neither of really played a tough schedule. And i get aaron. Donald was injured last week. But i think we kind of saw. What the rams were when. They went up against an elite offense because they hadn't really faced any elite offense is aside from my guess what you could call a familiar opponent with russell wilson seattle. Who is trending horrifically to end the season. So let's start there right. And i think the obvious element the thing that we'll talk about a lot because it's worth bringing up what you'll probably. Here's you listen to a lot of breakdowns of this game all week and the one thing that can really swing this game. I think is pressure on aaron rodgers. Can the the buccaneers defense make aaron rodgers uncomfortable. And i think it's pretty pretty simple. That's going to be the largest determining factor of this game and if you're going to get a situation where aaron rodgers is strong from clean pocket. The game's over right. It's done with of quarterbacks with at least one hundred and twenty-five dropbacks aaron rodgers number one in the nfl one thirty passer rating from a clean pockets got forty touchdown four picks and clean bach suggested completion percentage when kept clean is eighty five percent. If you don't pressure. Rogers like you're not going into lambeau in january with possible weather and beating him

"Drew brees tom. Brady eighty five years worth of quarterbacks second quarter at six three saints and then dan fish huge mistake by brief. Yeah first of all the internal pressure and second of all the physical. Play at the line of scrimmage by murphy bunting getting physical with the receiver michael thomas undercutting that outraged by drew brees. That throw was a huge tone. And that. I love the to mike evans big body in the red zone. Stay in between the quarterback and defensive back touchdown tampa bay for cash in ten six tampa ensuing drive seats trying to respond. This is james winstons. First career playoff past and dan take a look at the triggering. Yeah love the beautiful design and then trey smith leaking down the middle field. But this is really about everyone paying attention to alvin kamara. Watch the tailback in. How many blocks defenders run that way. They lead tricon smith on blocked out here. You big cat. Take great play designed by matt. Nagy that sean payton carries over to yesterday saints thirteen. Ten is the advantage there. Bucks get a field goal. So we're tied up at halftime first. Possession of the second breeze to smith again beautiful. Throw we've seen so much by drew. Brees that incites thought. Fade carry into the sideline touchdown new orleans but then later in the third dan. This play changed the entire game. It's incredible winco junior yet. Tampa new orleans wins. The right they get that slant because it's man coverage but just watch that right hand come in on that back side punch to finish that playoff for tampa bay's defense. That ball bounces right to their defender to huge turnover for them saints turnovers and the bucks cashing in. That was the story of the game. Here's brady that's leonard. Four bucks tied up at twenty cook knows. That mistake was critical. Comes another one dan. Although this one clearly seems to be miscommunication yeah really. It's really just trying to get a vertically route to evan chimera out of the backfield but what happens is never liked. Does a remarkable job of playing with vision onto drew brees patient and then no wasted movement snaps drives on that football before kamera ever turns around and drew knows that was a terrible decision. Saints third turnover leads to this brady takes it himself. Tom brady giving the bucks a thirty to twenty lead. Only the rap isn't excited about it and one last chance now. Desperation time for freeze. That is tipped in the air. And that is all she

Turnovers Doom Saints in 30-20 NFC Divisional Playoffs Loss to Bucs

"Bill. I just want to dive into it here. Because there's a lot to get to after watching the bucks. Beat the saints. Thirty to twenty so new orleans had been in tampa bay twice this season in week. One about four hundred years ago and then again in november. So what was the difference in this game vs those other two. I really simple pablo the saints. Just didn't protect the football. In the two regular season games between these teams the saints won the turnover battle. Both times there are plus three in the week one victory and then one up in the rematch. Tom brady threw five picks across those two games. Only seven in his other fourteen games. That really felt like the saints had his number and they were gonna have to flip that to win in new orleans. Well they flipped. It didn't turn the ball over the saints coughed up. Four times including three interceptions drew brees. The bucks turned the first few takeaways and two touchdowns and use the fourth to wrap up the game and kneel down. It's virtually impossible to win a playoff game. That sort of margin the saints will just sloppy in this game. Mean breeze could have thrown four or five picks. He threw an awful interception under pressure for the first one and on the same page with alvin kamara on a scene route for the second interception. The third bounced off jared cook. Who also fumbled away a completion on a drive where the saints were looking at. Go up to scores. They lost the ball and proceeded to give up seventeen unanswered points to end their season. So clearly the bucks had a formula of sorts for stopping breeze in it seemed like every aspect of this game. But it's not just that they stopped him instead. They made him look straight up terrible really often and i'm wondering how did they do that to that degree. Well i really think that todd bowles bucks defense. Look the tape from last week's game against the bears look how drew brees was playing. Look at how pal those receivers were moving and just didn't think there was anybody in that lineup who could reliably win against man coverage or beat them down field with their speed. This was especially true. After the saints lost deonte harris who had two long punt returns early in this game to a neck injury the saints did get a long touchdown but it was not with brees on the field. It was the lone snap for one jameis winston who came in and use the same trick. Play the bears ran against them last week. For a long touchdown coming across his sanders they handed to them. Refers goes to jameson mega man. Wide open trade smith at the twenty five fifteen ten five and a touchdown saints and jameis winston. What a touchdown pass against his former overall when breeze on the field it was pretty clear at the game plan was to dare him and his receivers to try and take shots towards the sidelines and get downfield and the game plan worked the bucks used heavy doses of twists and stunts upfront create pressure and then just smothered breezes receivers. I honestly it really felt the only reason. Sean payton didn't bench breeze for winston on the last drive. The game is because it was probably a last few snaps of drew brees his career.

"Tom Brady threw for a hundred ninety nine yards and two touchdowns while Tampa bay's defense forced four turnovers which resulted in twenty one points as the Buccaneers beat the saints thirty to twenty to advance to the NFC championship game next week against the Packers at Lambeau field Brady threw a short scoring strikes down Leonard Fournette and Mike Evans after losing twice to the saints during the regular season Brady was happy with this win but now it's time to move on we have great chemistry with five practice it's hard to get to this point there's nothing guaranteed from this point forward but you know we gotta go out there we got a our very best to to be one of the best teams only drew Brees threw a touchdown pass but he was also intercepted three times in what might be his final game with the saints after fifteen seasons I'm Craig heist

"Dc. Yesterday drew brees and the saints dismissed the bears and will now face the box for the third time this season the saints wanna both prior meetings but the box come into this one having won five straight games fox sports. Nfl analysts. Michael vick is with us now. So michael which forty something. Old quarterback is playing at a higher level right now brady or breeze and by the way breezes birthday coming up on friday he'll be forty. Two happy birthday drew right now. Right now i think town todd planted a super high level right now and i won't take anything away from drew But i will say this joke. He had the rib injury in. You know he missed a couple of games in. It could have set him back a little bit in terms of You know fail foot a game having to get back into a flow for the game and that was kinda evident last night the accuracy. It was bad times. "In two thousand sixteen dan when we saw two announced as the starter some wondered if it was really the right move but now we've seen him. I know you're one of them that we've seen him really show. Why maybe it was the right move. What have you seen from him. And what did you see from sunday this week. By week of what their offense is going to look like a couple nice things that they're doing chain galea's their play caller. I love the fact that they're putting on the lot. See this twenty two percent all right. Look it's going to look like run game. You pull the backside guard and then you're just going to replace that tight end behind that second level defense this is great by sees that second livable. What no hit the ground over those linebackers and it's great distribution that down in the red zone. The bowl is coming out so quickly the punch up top and they're gonna fox to the punches those defenders. Well how do you want to attack it. You take yeltsin receiver and take away. The insight defender flat route and then became grants. Gotta go separate and one fox look at the ball from out on time greenwich putting his left in the ground the balls high on time in the red zone. This team has become so good in the red zone because you know to is greatest attributes. Br his brain. How quickly he's thinking. And seeing things. So i love the fact of the titans on the field to play action pass protecting to but still operating quickly. And then he's like orlando bloom from lord of the rings man in the red zone like it's coming out so quickly with deadly accuracy. Oh man yeah. That's what all of our faces are saying after that really really go ahead. Forgave thrones but not learning. Sorry he's going right exactly. I if you missed it dan He never watched game of thrones. Anyway it's really fun to talk about to. The dolphins defense has really been the story over these last couple of weeks. Since miami's five game winning streak began in week five. It's hold opposing quarterbacks to an nfl low thirty six qbr as well as the nfl's best defense over that span. The dolphins have been stout in the secondary pressure in the front seven has been off the charts since we five there. Eighty six quarterback pressures thrill. Only the cardinal. So marcus should this defense scare teams at this point. The other should and and they're built the right way. Listen we talked about. The all season moves that the miami dolphins made and bring in van noy over and obviously signing byron jones so long extension a couple of years ago signings. Avian you see. Alibaba came over from kansas city. Like this team is packed with players. That can absolutely get after it. And then you see christian wilkins starting to become the player that they thought he could be when they drafted him. Sealer is another guy. Defensive lineman that that is not getting a lot of recognition but making a lot of plays for this defense has done a tremendous job. He's put he's he's brought guys the end that in an image and how. He's learned how to call defenses. he's able to execute those defenses. Because of the names zeh me. How a or guys that can lock up so in turn you can run zero pressure and lead them guys alone on the island eric. Rowe is stepped up and give them a shout out to their gm greer who decided to get all of these players and make it happen. You know what i dislike about talking about. The dolphins is i end up using cliches. I normally hate like complementary football winning in all three phases like those terms. But then you watch this team. And they're all true. Dan talked about the offense. Marcus talked about the defense and how well this team is built. How about special teams right. How about the fact that they came into yesterday's game ranked second in special teams going to pull outsiders and then andrew van ginkel. I hope i say his name right. Because that's my favorite name in the nfl. I think it's van winkle anyways blocks the punt and any says afterwards that they were coached to do that. This is just a well coached team. It's no coincidence. That in the first quarter of games they have the best point differential in the nfl. They never come out flat. They always come in week to week with a different plan which was very patriots like and they execute. That's why this is such a terrifying team. I was trying to google. It is being gingko. hanky goal. Van ginkel don't you think hang on don't you think don't you guys think that this is the first real of ballot check disciple that it actually feels like new england on tape like we can say and that's not to miami. That's not that's actually to like all day. Speak glowingly of them. This is the first one that when i watched it on tape man. That looks a lot like new england week to week to week. They got the best week to week. Pulse in the nfl yet. Another reminder guys just on the to a friend it is today the one year anniversary of his injury at alabama that had some wondering if he would ever play against even wondered if he would walk again so congrats to on the progress. Let's get adam schefter back in here and out of we're getting closer to kick off between the vikings and the bears soldier field right here on. Espn what should we know about key injuries tonight. Beginning with allen robinson lorries been nursing a knee injury that limited to practice all week long is listed as questionable but the sense and belief. Is that al robinson who should be able to go tonight. Against a depleted vikings secondary now again robinson has been highly productive and could have some pretty good numbers against the secondary that has struggled this season but he looks like he will be able to go as for the chicago. Bears running back david. Montgomery he'll has been ruled out of tonight's game due to a concussion. Basically suffering concussion late in lassen these loss to the titans. The bears are going to use a combination of quarter patterson and ryan now and lamar miller to try to help replace david montgomery who had been a workhorse for that team. All right some huge names dealing with injuries around the league outside of just the game tonight. What starting carolina. What we know about teddy bridgewater will the good news. According to chris morrison is that there was nothing. Structurally wrong with teddy. Bridgewater is knee right now. There is soreness swelling right now and they don't know whether he'll be able to play against detroit matt rule the panthers coach said he's quote unquote hopeful. That bridgewater can practice on wednesday. But i think status for this week is very much uncertain. Not as much as true for panthers. Andrew whitworth suffered a knee injury again on some christian. Mccaffrey here essentially has shoulder injury that he's been dealing with and it is unlikely that he's going to be able to play. I think the team still considers him week to week. But i think it's preparing for multi week absence through that shoulder and judy suffered against kansas city and asked for drew brees as edward reported earlier. Today he is dealing with broken ribs on both sides a collapsed lung. Dan garage genesis. The most optimistic timetable is to return in two three week. Sean payton said today does not want to name a new starter. But he did turn to jameis winston yesterday. The sense in belief is that he'd go to winston again because they don't wanna lose tastes hill as an offensive weapon and effective special teams performer. More on this and so much. More with adam schefter in the gang on monday night countdown at six eastern right here on. Espn so keep it locked right here. for the rest of the night and now let's bring in our. Espn injury analysts. Define a bell for more on drew. Brees what is the nature of this injury to drew brees. What more can you tell us about that stuff on you. It's really something i mean. He's dealing with broken ribs on both sides of his chest wall broken ribs on the left side which apparently they believe happened in the tampa bay game two weeks ago broken ribs on the right side of that happened in the game against the forty niners yesterday and in conjunction with that a new thorax or collapse lung as you heard adam say essentially whenever rip fracture you can get a sharp edge and if that edge creates a puncture in the lung area. Then you get an abnormal collection of air between the lung and the chest wall puts pressure on it. That's why they call it a collapsed lung. The good news is it should heal by itself. It's not something that will require any.

"Game to game. Now, Jalen. There's something else I want to talk about. It it's the play. Anthony, Davis, and Lebron James they're so good in so consistent that you can just mark them down for between fifty and sixty points at every night. But you point out something about Lebron seems like he picks his spots detail what you mean by that. At advance stage of his career seventeen and a seventeen season, thirty years of age, and he has a young thoroughbred that he can lena that he's been doing basically all season that led the squad in points, rebounds, blocks and steals. It just made a game winning three and a playoff game that's Anthony Davis. This is this is why you want him to join you in Los. Angeles. Last year Laurent got hurt late and they didn't make the playoffs. This year, they're going to win a championship that dynamic duo is that good so Lebron does not have to go thirty five minutes and try to score forty points every game it's only me in the first quarter owning aiming the first half on needed a third quarter, and so now that he's able to pick his spot, you have Casey P double figure game coups was double figures, Game Danny Green Double figures game. You talked about resign Rondo and his contribution Caruso and this contribution as long as both of those guys are getting me around sixty. It allows one of those other guys that you just highlighted to have a good game and put them over the top. Is I was watching game to Lebron had twenty not just in the first half he had twenty five minutes to go with the first half and I said, ooh. Those forty four forms from Lebron James who to get one of those triple doubles thirty-five like eleven eleven from the Brawn James Lebron James. nope. Load managing in the second half liberal he load manages. He doesn't game. He's just like Oh. Yeah. y'All. In the first. Have it all be freshman game three. That is how that. I want to say one thing about Rousseau is I'm not going to sit here and celebrate him like he is going to be the next. Michael Jordan to other people do because they just do that because of his hair Oscar Russo had pat collins hair we would not be talking about him the same I. Think it's unfair the way that he celebrated I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he was polically child's Oscar Caruso I respect you so much I'm not going to act like you are going to be all star next year just because of your hairline. Ends very important to you. What do you think of that? You are both know for national consumption. We'll talk a lot about guys in their mustaches and stuff like that. So I, appreciate what you're saying about Caruso. Just, leave it at that. Jalen. We now have some big news in the world of NASCAR, Michael Jordan and Danny Hamlin are forming a single car nascar. Team in that car will be driven by Bubba Wallace, what is the significance this news? Two were that I've been using really frequent as we've been talking about the FIFA Social Justice Field Position Jacoby. You gotta be the greatest basketball player of all time. As a black guy to own a team. You now, take that money and NASCAR. Now decided that they're not going flash federal flax I guess we should. Regulate them. Now you buy team. You and your partner of course, you're GONNA hire the only black driver. Let me see the many black drivers. Oh, the only. Drive. In. Buffalo Right, and so I'm very happy that Michael Jordan in a position to continue to get some reparations as some field position for black people.

"So that would be. That would be my hope Mike And you know I, just I I'm I'm heartbroken for our country right now, but I will tell you this about twenty twenty and I know a lot of people have said that twenty twenty is been a horrible year it's been terrible with corona virus, and the riots, and the murder of George Floyd and the continued systemic racism that is part of this country has been part of this country since you know since slavery. But I would say that twenty twenty we, we refer to that his vision and clarity right, and has given us some clarity and has shown us where we are in an honestly I. Think to a degree what we're about and and it gives us a real clarity on what we need to do to change it, so that would that would be my hope and then anyhow I know that kind of a deep podcast for today and Now you're right. It's twenty. Twenty has tested us in ways that and is revealed things in a way where we have. We've learned a lot about the collective us. We've learned about us. You know ourselves. And I think that the lessons of of twenty twenty. Are are going to be felt for a long long time and this was. This, was this is a watershed moment in history. This is one where. They're going to be teaching classes about this year. This one's going to go down in the history book, so we're living it so yeah, there's there's no doubt we're GONNA. WE'RE GONNA learn from it I hopefully be better for right I and I would like to say this just in regards to our leadership in this country and or political leadership, and and the people that have been placed in in positions of leadership I would like to say this that. I. Think is men. We've been sold a bill of goods on what strength is right. You know we talk about. We Talk About Sexual Conquest, and we talk about you know dominating, and we talk about all these things and we've seen our leadership. We've seen our president. You know talk about strength. The true strength is what you're going to see. From nalco Jenkins and and and Michael Thomas, and Alvin Kamara. WHO ARE GONNA open up their hearts and forgive. True strength in my mind is about forgiveness. It's about compassion. It's about love. It's about kindness. It's about embracing people. And loving people. and. That's that's true strength. And that's the strength that I hope. America, I hope were strong enough. To actually put down that. Bullshit bill goods. We've been sold as men from the time we were little. Don't cry. Big Boys don't cry right. You gotta be tough. Hey, it's all about you know. It's all about money, and it's all the bullshit that we have been sold as men. Since the time we were toddlers. And I. Hope we can set that stuff aside, and we can have true leaders who honestly care who honestly love, and who honestly have empathy and compassion that we can heal this country and and we can you know that we can stop Dead it dead in our tracks with things that we have done that have been just been abysmal horrific horrific, so that would be my hope and I know this one's Kinda deep, but that's Kinda warm at. That's kind of the week. It's been in the NFL. It really isn't about the. The other stuff and we can get to that next week. You know you're you're. Aaron Donald is the best football player in the NFL got some got a boost and. Joint Practices there's plenty of NFL news there always is but That's maybe a topic podcast for another day. "Thirty. Lot of conversation going on right now about drew brees, and if you're like me, you were surprised. I? Mean I'm the first woman I was surprised yesterday to hear drew brees and his comments, essentially coming out and talking about the flag in this time, and what it means, because so much of the conversation now around the NFL will start to circle around Colin Kaepernick, and where the NFL really is on race relations, and where the NFL really is trying to bring everybody together, and you know obviously when you've got an NFL head coach. Coach Vic Fangio coming out and saying he doesn't see racism. In the NFL in today's world with what's going on, it's fair to then look at it through a microscope right? You're going to look at it from a different level so as we continue to look at it I was surprised because we hear so much and see so much in the past of drew brees bringing people together now. I understand that obviously drew. brees is allowed to have his own opinion. He's allowed to feel a certain way on all of this of course. Course he is, and people are conversely allowed to disagree with him. The biggest part that can come from all of that isn't an apology because we've already seen that drew. brees already came out today and apologized on instagram for his comments yesterday in a really well thought out statement. What I really think needs to happen to this honest conversation and listening I mean that's the biggest part of it that no longer happens whenever we turn this debate, no matter what whenever we turned the debate of what's going on in the country right now. Now Back to Colin Kaepernick. Taking the people twists that into whatever they wanted to be to fit the narrative that they already have. If we could ever reach a spot where no matter what people believed on it, they would be open to to talking about it and listening through all of it. Maybe we could actually all come together on some of these issues, Tim Hasselbeck joins us now on the shell, Pennzoil performance line. Tim Thanks for the time and I appreciate. What was your immediate reaction when you heard the comments from debris? I'm in my immediate reaction was You know in this current time here. There's no empathy. In the answer that he gave the interview for. Really so how so many? Of his teammates, just peers across the NFL You know we're feeling and so. You know my initial reaction was that. There's going to be. You know a really a sense of betrayal from. You know people that probably consider drew a friend or teammates, or just you know whatever it is, and in terms of their experience withdrew. And and it is what we saw. You know I mean clearly just from around the league, but then you know also from teammates and guys like Malcolm Jenkins and I, just think a lot has happened since the initial. You know the initial comments, my initial reaction to it You know a lot has happened right I mean you know drew? Then you know apologizes, and then is apology. Has a lot more empathy And and you know asking for forgiveness and. You, know we've seen the Mario Davis you know, accept his apology and and forgive him, which is remarkable and You know. Our I guess you know my reaction now through all of it is just kind of hope that This is kind of an example of. You know how to people that were. Really different spots less than twenty four hours ago. You know and one of them probably really hurt and you know disrespected and and betrayed. To. Come together for a better understanding and you know, make this a better society. Now. I'm never going to pretend. That I've been in locker rooms, but I've certainly been on tour buses and that's close quarters. Sometimes when you go through these things and somebody says something you forgive him in the moment, but it just sort of continues to flare up. You know that's just the way it looks in close quarters with people that are almost like family. How forgiving our NFL locker rooms. and how capable are they of actually letting something like this? Be Behind them. Really forgiving the main there. They are One of the really great things about you know playing football, especially playing the full plan football at the collegiate level you know depending on where you go to school or playing in the NFL is that? You know the teams are big, and because the teams are big, and because people come from, you know so many different backgrounds There's a it's a really kind of accepting. Environment and barriers are kind of taken down in those environments and so they're really forgiving, but like saying all of that. You know prior to here into Mario Davis. You know I thought man this is. Like I don't know how this ends up working out in that Saints Locker Room You know that was my reaction at that time, but then. You know seeing the Mario Davis who's really respected on that team and a leader on that team You know seeing his. you know response to drew and the way not just for giving him, but just the way that he talked about drizzle leader. You know it, just it. It does go to show you that like. You know even when you don't think something you know would be possible that it is you know and it is because of..

"Your Business and your dream choose from over thirty coverage options, progressive, visit progressive, dot com, and when you look across the board at at what we expect at some point when you look at what we expect from drew brees. I. Think that's what made this so shocking people are used to drew brees, saying and doing basically the right thing and you're looking at drew. Brees is saying and doing so much. That is easy to look at and say okay where he's coming from. It's rare to see drew brees. Walk Anything Back Right. So that's what makes all of this so difficult. Because what it is done quickly is it is shifted a conversation. That doesn't need to be shifted right now. Suddenly it's taken a conversation. That's very important that we've been having on this show for the last several days, and it takes that conversation and makes it about something completely different right everything that's. That's going on in the country. Right now has nothing to do with what was discussed in this moment so unfortunately, what happens when he comes out and says what he says is that it takes an shifts everything back to an argument that's been going on for the last couple of years to an argument that has not been successful for most people over the last couple of years, and it's able to shift that focus back to their I want to keep the focus. Of the conversation about what we're doing to move forward and how we do it, and if that this is part of that conversation fine, but we can't let happen. Are the words of Drew Brees in this instance? Take the focus away from what we're trying to talk about right now. I take your take on ESPN radio, and there was a lot more conversation about drew brees and what he had to say, and that came on I take also in the form of Tony Dungy Tony Dungy Joint I take talking with Laura Rutledge Stephen and Max about his thoughts, drew brees, initial statement, and in fact, then his thoughts on the apology. I WANNA. Get your reaction to droop reasons, initial comments, and then the apology that he's now released. What do you think about all of it? Well I was disappointed in the initial comments for Sir. This is the time when we need unifying. Device voices, but I I believe in the Bible and I believe as a Christian that you accept the policies and the Bible says a tree is known by its fruit. And that's what we have to look for withdrew I've known him twenty years. I consider him a friend. I've seen good fruit in his life I. Believe we'll see good Fr- from here on out, so I'm GonNa, accept his apology and move forward and see if this can be a moment that brings us together rather than driving a wedge to take us apart I completely agree.

"There's a lot of interesting stuff about drew brees beyond champion twelve time pro bowler as accurate as anyone who's ever thrown a football well. I don't know that a lot is more interesting than killing an alligator. Let's yeah he was on the bear grylls show. He alison was just telling him come on here and do not curse and his response was darn so we're not all right. We're not going to be able to <hes> trick the polish veteran into giving us headline. Well drew's one of those guys where you don't have to tell them not to curse that's correct but i'd like to know how he killed this alligators so we'll get to the jimmy johns home in the zone contest here. What happened drew and thank you for joining us. Can you tell us is the backstory on that on the on kill me alligator. Yes yeah so so they're rails right <hes> i i was i was a fan. <hes> used to watch his discovery channel. <hes> show all the time <hes> man versus wild and and then you know he had this running wild with real show and so i had heard about it and i've seen a few episodes and you know basically he just takes kinda normal people like us out into the wilderness alertness and we do survival stuff for a couple of days so he he had called and asked if i wanna be going to show and i said yeah i said i have to just. I gotta get a couple of things clear with you. I that's a first of all. I say you have to protect me from myself. Meaning that whatever you do i'm going to feel like i can do it too so i i. If you go and try to do something super crazy just just keep in mind like i've got a responsibility to my team and the family to come back in one piece. You know so like uh-huh. Let's not in that order by the way to your family and they don't you know i like i'm all for i'm mall for challenging ourselves facing stuff but you know i gotta. "If the MVP race was in fact, over clearly drew Brees would be handed the MVP, but there's almost a third of the season to go first third of the season. Look like the Rams are going to be one of the greatest teams of all time. Maybe they are in the saints are just better. Like who knows the point is there's a lot of football left to be played. And a lot of other great players in the league. I will say this about drew Brees. So far this season. I think of the best play I've ever seen at the quarterback position. I think of Tom Brady and seven with all those weapons. I was like oh my God. Tom Brady's putting up Peyton Manning numbers? But he's doing it with like that Tom Brady winter stuff. Right. I think Peyton Manning fifty five touchdowns. It's now drew I think of droopy. He's like that he's playing so. Well, right now, he's actually in my view elevating his position on the all time list because he's now hitting peaks that are. Just absurd and I noticed this with aging great players, including LeBron James in order to stay at that level that they've reached they need to be so cerebral, they need you rely on their wisdom and their and their experience so much to compensate for anything. They've lost physically that they just I mentioned the last dragon couple of days ago, they got that clothe Bruce LeRoy glow. Or the Joe enough like like, they're they're operating on a whole other level at a certain point. Now, I bring up the cliff because that's usually what happens in order for them to get their their compensating for other things that aren't there. Then all the sudden, even that's not enough, and they fall off through breezes thirty nine and I do notice that with a lot of these players that I mentioned that Derek jeeter had a renaissance here like that. It's right before they're not the same anymore. Drew Brees is playing out of his mind. Great. Mahomes Goff girly Aaron Donald there are so many other candidates where if they have a strong push in the last third of the season. And drew Brees loses a couple of games, which is possible MVP is someone else's at this moment. Clearly, the MVP too much football left. I think as long as the saints keep winning. This is going to be drew Brees award to lose. And the only reason that the safe won't win is because drew starts to not play quite as well. But I don't see that happen. I think the same though is this is that we're finally talking about this guy as an MVP after he had already thrown for five thousand yards five different times in his career already. And the fact that he had never really been taken. Seriously. The reason why he's taking serious now because there's been so much attention drawn to the fact that offense is right now are putting up numbers that have ridiculous Star Wars like rate because defensive player in the NFL's. Absolutely be honest with you. It's pathetic in one word. It's pathetic. So now, there's so much attention on how offenses have become so innovative in how now it's all. It's an offense driven league. All the brain power me up at the side of the ball. As far as play calls are concerned. And look drew drew was just one of those people who is this taking advantage of that trend right now. So he has his best weapons ever. Well, not. I don't know. Drew has always had some pretty good weapons. I think he has he has his best weapons in terms of he has a balanced attack. Now, and he has a defense now that can play championship caliber football when they're playing it. There's something out the way he's like what he's throwing guys open who aren't open, and they he's been doing this for a long time at this. He been doing this for a long time. And if you also look at a lot of look if you look at a lot of his completions. The Mike Thomas Thomas is uncontested seventy eighty percent of the time because I I am so disenchanted with defensive play in the NFL right now that'd be a whole nother offense. It'd be a whole 'nother show, but I'm not going to take anything away from drew..

"This is sportscenter right now Collins New Orleans when their ten th straight game and along the way became the first team in the Super Bowl era with four undrafted players catching touchdowns. Let's show. You the action drew Brees the saints hosting Matt Ryan in the south and Thanksgiving Day opening dry for the saints. Drew Brees hitting Tommy Lewis for the touchdown. Now. Lewis is one of the guys who went on grafter undrafted. He's scored his second career touchdown saints seven nothing under a minute in the second quarter. Now Ryan hitting Julio Jones in this land. Jones picks up the first down but tries to jump over the tackle gets drilled in fumbles saints cover that one. And in the fourth. Got more action. Breeze finds Keith perk would for the touch on. He was one of the four guys and draft day recess asked after the game about those four dice going touchdowns. I heard that loved us that that's actually one of my favorite ones. You know, we're down some receivers from the beginning of the year until now and these guys are having a step in this some roles and. Do some things that maybe we're unexpected. Now, that's the first take. When the saints go marching past a number one, drew Brees, something special fells. I think tender age of thirty nine Louis Riddick. New hope. Right. How about you? It's good. All good, Steven A. What do we think the NFL MVP race officially over? Well for me it is. I mean, listen, I think the Patrick Mahomes a cessation Nolan. I think there's a lot of other people have really really good years, but the kind of year that the drew Brees in New Orleans. Saints are having right now. There's just something special to behold, he two four hundred seventy one yards last night, which is incredibly pedestrian for him. But if you watch the game, you could tell he was a control the entire game. He was just picking apart. The Atlanta Falcons piece by piece you just see the precision, you could just see how much they missed the aunt Joan's, obviously. And how much they will compromise defensively they weren't gonna stop the stage when the saints needed to do anything. And that's just the way that it was now, obviously, Atlanta health didn't help themselves at all those three pivotal turn overs. You're Matt Ryan getting stripped early Julio Jones somersault in the air gets popped having a ball pop loose. And of course, Ridley near the end of the game going into the end zone and he fumbled right before he ran into the end zone. So we recognize it landed in help themselves. So we get that. But what you watched New Orleans you watch this offense with Kamara is explosive as he is capable of, you know, being a dual threat to the is running the football plus pass catching out of the backfield able to do what he does Mark Ingram particularly short yard situations bringing that roughhouse those roughhouse tendencies to the equation supplement. Whatever Kamara was giving you Michael Thomas doing what he's done this kid Smith a rookie doing what he does. You just look at them right now. And they just give you the impression offensively. They will do whatever needs to be done when needed all when they choose to. And nobody's going to do anything about it that is solely because of the soli that's primarily because of the greatness of drew Brees, Kamara obviously is a big big deal. But drew Brees is just something special, man. And I don't see the kind of season that they having right now this destiny that they'd seem that they seem to be on the Laura just coming into the stadium with him. I just don't see. See anybody looking at this year old playing the way that he's playing and ignoring what we're seeing I think you'd be you'd be right?.
