Which is why we love doing this so two weeks in a row. America marxism is number one on the new york times bestseller hardcover nonfiction book list. We don't have the official numbers They don't put them out other company does and we'll have those tomorrow but the unofficial numbers for my publisher is that all formats in two weeks time. you've purchased five hundred sixty five thousand copies of this book. Which is truly astonishing. We want to keep the pressure on you. Notice other media. Ignore this and pretend this hasn't happened Some conservative media picked up on it. Of course We've become good friends out there. And i will be also mentioning. Maybe tomorrow who knows And thanking by name all the individuals on fox who've who've had me on their programs and I can't name all the radio stations because have been scores of them. But i wanna thank all the hosts all the radio broadcasting companies all the management and so forth. You've been absolutely terrific. We're going to get the word out. I'm still working on this twenty hours a day folks and that's the goal here statement by donald j trump hard to believe our senate republicans are dealing with the radical left democrats and making a so called bi partisan bill on infrastructure with our negotiators headed up by super rhino matt. Mitt romney. I mean he's right on right on. This'll be a victory for the by administration. Democrats and will be heavily used in the twenty twenty two election. It is a loser for america. A terrible deal makes the republicans look weak foolish and dumb. It shouldn't be done. It sets an easy glide path for democrats to get beyond what anyone thought was possible in future legislation will be continued destruction of our country. Our borders are horrible. Crime is at an all time high taxes and inflation are going way up in the economy's going way down and now this don't do it. Republicans patriots will never forget. If this deal happens. Lots of primates will be coming your way now. I just saw this. Mr producer sent this to me after i gave my comments. Donald trump is more conservative. And more right. On then ninety nine percent of the republicans on capitol hill and ninety nine percent of those right at national review. He really embraces this. And he's a hundred percent right. One hundred percent right makes no sense. It makes no sense and we know what's coming behind this. We know what they're trying to do and now biden's being pressured and he'll give in if he can to unilaterally wipe out an enormous amount of money in college student debts not student debt. It's college student. Debt about thirty four percent of people in this country graduate from college that means to search. Do not now those thirty four percent. Earn more money than those who did not go to college. These are the statistics and so those who didn't go to college who earn less are now to subsidize those who went to college but didn't pay their way. Moreover you have people went to college you did pay their way and paid off their debt. They're so busy. Throwing your money around and throwing the money yet earned of your children and grandchildren around all these anomalies. These injustices occur. It's unbelievable nobody looks at the universities and colleges why their tuition is so high why their expenses are so high. Nobody looks at them because why they're propaganda mills for the democrat party and the american marxist. That's why no other entity gets away with this. None now you. And i are going to be subsidizing. Student loans college student loans. I don't know. Did they ask us when they took them out. How about mortgages. Should we subsidize those interest on your mortgage. I mean what is this. It's unbelievable really about people who need trucks to work tweet. Sh we take those loans over which loans arena. Which loans are out. Just incredible at the same time. They're killing the golden goose that lays the golden eggs by smothering the goose with a mask the idiocy that's going on here is unbelievable unbelievable. Well i will say this. They hope to have it out of whatever committee or whatever they're doing by tonight if not tomorrow which means you and i will never have an opportunity to read this. It's going to be a massive omnibus bill and you better believe all kinds of pork is stuck in. This bill with repeal vicks their hands in the cookie jar. I up to represent my people to know you need to represent your people by voting against all this stuff. You can't trust these people. They've already told you they're gonna spend another nine point five trillion dollars on top of this. You already see inflation. Going through the roof. Let me just say this. Whoever votes for this they to like biden and these various marxists they too are going to be responsible for inflation. They don't get debate these votes and then whine about spending. I'll be right back. I know you love freedom. "Almost sounds like they're laughing when he first said that and long long pregnant. Which is why i alone can fix it again. Any other person. I don't know anyone who would say that. Because i don't know anyone so a self centered but again he does he believe this or he just says it thinking that people will believe it and vote for him. You know again. i don't. I don't know i think he i think he says it thinking it's a selling point. He's trying to convince people of things. He's the consummate salesman right. He wasn't real estate was on tv. He certainly was as Politician in president But he his whole pitch in two thousand sixteen voters was. I'm the business guy. I can solve all your problems. I can cut through the crap and fix everything. That's broken about washington. He ended up not fixing very much at all He couldn't even fix his own election in the end And that's one of the reasons why we picked this title for this book. Because again it's trump's own words at the vow he made to the american people that he could fix the problems. And i think our book shows the he didn't fix problems. He made them worse. All right last question for you. Do you think trump will ever be held accountable for the many lies. He told that cost a lot of lives. That hurt a lot of people that put this country into turmoil. Will he ever or or he'll just keep writing off like teflon. Don it depends on. What you mean by held accountable. I think the voters held him accountable by by denying him. A second term as president But he's obviously not served any time in jail or been held accountable in any criminal matter An annex to be determined. I'm no expert in that field. Obviously there are the ongoing new york investigations but there there could potentially be other investigations down the road there. Certainly. there's the probe in georgia looking at leila fraud claims and and on and on and on. So i think he will continue to face. That kind of scrutiny. I don't know whether any judge jury will ever hold him accountable in a meaningful way But i think it's pretty bruising for him and for his ego to have been held accountable by the voters of this country the way he was on november third. Sure okay one. Last one as journalists are you at all concerned about the ball. He set in motion now going on. What forty some odd states that are putting in this new legislation to for a partisan Elected official to take control of each state's election apparatus. This is kind of frightening to me. This is what i see is a lasting legacy of trump is the you know yes is no up down thing. And oh by the way we're going to overturn your elections. Certainly you know it's alarming to a lot of a lot of democrats and progressives than. i think. It's one of the reasons why there's been such a forceful engagement on this issue from president biden and all the way down through the party because this is a real threat to the functioning of american democracy into the preservation of of the right for so many people in ability of so many people to vote in this country. Well we still have our work cut out for us. Just dealing with the aftermath of trump. Thank you for the book and the great work that you end. Carol and your colleagues at the washington post do i alone can fix it. Donald j trump's catastrophic final year. And if you want to feel those knots in your stomach again just open the book to any page and start reading. Filbert was great to meet you. Thank you so much for joining us. I really appreciate it. thank you alive nicole. I appreciate it good to talk to you you too there. You go philip. It would help if i pulled that down and get rid of the echo echo echo echo art. We're taking a break on progressive voices. I thought i'd jump in and say you know he was a great interview. I feel i feel bad for these authors who have to do interview after interview after interview. It's gotta get tedious after a while. So hopefully you threw something a little different in the mix. I don't know. But hey that's i guess that's the payoff. Have a big book and you have to do the interviews. So i appreciate that. They let me do it by the way. If you are a reader. I have a stack of books a mile high from interviews that. I've done a great way to help the show and helped me out is if you hearing interview with an author and it's a book that you'd be interested in Send me an email. Make sure it's still available but for a donation that covers you. Know the postage and a little extra. I'll send you the book. Because i i read. I read some of them to be honest with you. I don't have a whole lot of time. And i don't have a you know a lot of so i i still you know this one was was embargoed so i just got just got this like two days ago and it's a pretty thick book so this one i actually want to read but just last week. I spoke to michael bender. And i got. I got maybe a third of the way into this book. This one's already that the frankly we did win this election. This one's already spoken But it's another way to support the show and be be in the in the chat room. Thank you so much Youtube has a feature called super chat. Where you can donate to a show that you enjoy and be just made a donation and be. I can't thank you enough Soap you know if you hear a book for instance well you know i was gonna say julie k brown coming on monday. But i didn't get a physical copy. It up a kindle edition but anyway if you do hear me interview an author and it's a book you're interested in email me if i have it available you know i'll i'll i'll gladly part with it because i've got what i need to do is in my spare time Put up a a sort of a library page on the website nicole sandler dot com and let you know which books are available. We've got some good ones. I've had some good guests on recently so we can do that. be says. I'm reading the road to unfreedom by ten. Th timothy snyder man. It's scary depressing see. I don't need scary depressing. I get enough of those But i do have a thom. Hartmann has a new book coming out. So i've got that one in the stack venom starting to read What others i you know i always booking ahead. There's some other really really good ones. there's this guy. Adam twos who wrote a book about a year ago crash. I think it was called it. Was i just remember. It was a fascinating interview while he's got a new one coming out called shutdown and it's about how the economy will weather the pandemic so that one is just booked today for september eighth. So we're working in advance Let me tell you what else is coming up on the show. Tomorrow is thursday so howie klein will be here. And he's bringing along bruno amato bruno. Amato is running for congress from the district in california now represented by kevin mccarthy and. I think you'd agree with me if anyone deserves to go home right. Now it's kevin mccarthy and so how he last thursday you know tweeted something out that that bruno is going to join us on the show tomorrow. And i've gotten more re tweets on that than anything in a while so there's a lot of interest in him. How awesome would it be. Kevin mccarthy thinks you know there's a good chance that the republicans could take back. The house kevin mccarthy thinks he's going to be speaker. How awesome would it be if you loses in the election to bruno. Amato so you'll meet him tomorrow and then on friday we're going to. We're going to take a break from the politics. Because friday is a day that i i'm guessing some of the people in l. Listening now will remember forty years ago. Sunday actually august. I if i have the date right is the fortieth anniversary of mtv the beginning of mtv. Do you remember how it started. Well if you don't we'll refresh your memory on friday. I will be joined by marc goodman. Marc goodman one of the original mtv. vj's and Yeah so just something different. Because god knows we need. We need a change. I'll tell you something today. I wake up. I'm still reeling a bit from yesterday's testimony. And i turn on cnn. And i see officer. Michael known and michael fanon is there and talking about what the idiots on fox did last night how. They laughed at the testimony and pooh-poohed it and laura ingram. I know it's ingram. I just miss pronounce her name on purpose. Because i can't because i'm pronouncing it as it's spelled laura ingram was saying oh he wins an acting award you get.

Geraldo Rivera Can't Decide on the Narrative of January 6th Either

"Last night, Geraldo can't seem to determine if his friend with air quotes Donald Trump incited a riot or not either. Check this out. I supported President Trump until the period following the election, leading it to the despicable events of January. 6th on January six we brought we bring you want for your damn people. The world and history an apology. But damn budget are all those wrong on both fronts. Profoundly wrong. How the president I have his transcript of what he said. We're going to go march to the capital peacefully. Unpatriotically is inciting a riot is quite confusing. I don't know if you need a thesaurus and dictionary. I don't know where you get what you just Making that up. I don't understand. Like the narrative goes back and forth between this was a planned insurrection to then Trump incited an insurrection despite the fact that Trump said, Go March peacefully and patriotic Li Oh, God, I don't know why you're making that up. And I was a friend of president trouble. Little bit friends like you. You know who needs enemies? I mean, that's being a friend. Two, man, I don't want any friends like that. You imagine that? I I tell Jim and Mike Mike Gold march on Cumulus headquarters peacefully. Unpatriotically. You guys deserve a raise, And then they go there slamming on the door and a cumulus blames me. Fred. Can you imagine that? I mean, I see it. You can folks you can listen to. I don't need to play it here. The transcripts out there. You've heard it 1000 times. Everybody knows what Trump said. But understand this left this cannot decide on a narrative and there's a reason I do. I talk about this stuff because you have to be able to dissect these people when you're able to dissect them and look at what's on the inside. You see, it's never pretty. The reason they can't settle on a narrative is because of what I just said. They're trying to determine what does the maximum political damage not with the truth. They don't care what the truth is. They're not interested in the truth at all. I'll get to that in

Democrats Can't Decide What's the Narrative of the January 6th Events

"When they listen to show because they can't settle on a narrative because they can't decide if they want to stake the claim that this U S soil since 9 11 by a bunch of planned, violent extremists have been violent the whole time, therefore be attack against every trump supporter because they want to associate everyone with some of the violence that happened on that day, right? That's so they don't they don't know if that's going to be the better narrative to indict half the United States population or is the better narrative because Donald Trump might run again? That it was definitely Donald Trump, who did it. It was a largely peaceful rally. Until that point, you get that. Do you understand that? Does that make sense? You got to get that before we move on because they don't understand. What they're basically doing is they're balancing two competing narratives, both of which, factually can't be correct. It was either a planned insurrection or Donald Trump instigated it. You can't have both of those stories don't make sense, right? Again. I know the coins begun in 11, even though you know, semi reasonable Democrats are like, Yeah, well, you know, he's kind of right. You can't have both of those things at the same time. The semi reason it's a very small portion. Maybe 001% But they're trying to determine which one of those narratives does the most political damage. Do we want to make sure Donald Trump's political career is over and that we destroy him and make him public enemy number one? Satan incarnate. He incited this. Write him. He didn't him alone so that he can't run again. Is that more important? Or is it important to destroy the reputations of anyone who voted for Donald Trump and associate them with some of the things that happened on January? 6th by saying No, No, this was planned. All these Maga people knew about it.

"Consistently for his whole career and of course those links cannot die they are attorney and he has helped to sustain them so far and we should carry on. Trump doesn't care He's not politically correct and he's fearless. He's not afraid to tell people what he thinks about other people or things and he's not worried about the reaction that people have to it. He's just going to go ahead and be who he is. He's one of these people that really he. He embodies the idea that you attract the kind of people you are and that you should not be a phony to try to attract certain people trying to be like the people you wanna retract. It never works. Mark Levin Reacts to January 6th Hearings in the Last Hour

"I listened to some of this hearing. I didn't watch it live. But I listened to some it literally in the last hour or so. And, um Tremendous amount of drama. Lot of graphics. Adam Kinzinger was crying lose, Cheney said. Sometimes you have to pick country over party. Ladies and Joe, this is this is really, uh Too bad, quite the spectacle. That this committee is loaded up the way it is. If Adam Schiff on this committee Who led an insurrection against the Trump administration. You have this guy Raskin from Maryland on this committee. Push for impeachment twice. Then you have Cheney has always hated Trump her father's always hated Trump. The Bushes have always hated Trump. And then of course you have King Singer. Who lied to the people in his district when he ran as a tea party candidate, flipped into Rhino land and has always hated Trump. Didn't vote for Trump. Now we had some police officers giving testimony. I don't condemn them. But we only had certain police officers giving testimony. You don't have police officers giving testimony so far, who let People into the Capitol building. Maybe maybe they will be questioned. You don't have FBI officials being brought into this hearing. Maybe there will in the future. Explaining why they failed to provide information to the police officers when they had it 48 hours earlier. You don't have any answers right now. Trump Didn't Know He Was in a War With the Deep State in 2016

"Do you think trump has finally woken up to the idea that he kind of squandered opportunities that he was like me and like many persuaded that He might be able to get some things done not aware that he was in fact in an all out war. Yeah i would. I would cut trump's some some real slack for not realizing that the left was not going to permit the legitimate transition of power in two thousand sixteen and they never did. The left rejected the the results of the two thousand sixteen election and use every method fair and foul terrorist methods. Creating a fake dossier that links an american citizen like donald trump that links into the farm power and suggests that he's committing treason making up the lab dossiers putting him in hotel rooms. Doing disgusting acts with prostitutes taking bribes from foreign governments making all of that up and then the fbi knowing it is a pack of lies and using its power destroying people's lives going to go after. Mike flynn george popadopoulos. Pablo carter page destroying people's lives in service. What they knew was ally. This is how the east german stasio operated. So i don't know. Donald trump did not realize that the deep state were anti-american evil terrorist force. The Tower of Babel and Christian Nationalism With John Zmirak

"One of the episodes in the old testament. And it's very interesting to those of us. Who are we get cold things like your christian nationalists and of course you should take time to unpack bad. What is christian nationalist. What what isn't even me. Well if you actually look at what it's supposed to represent you realize. Oh it's the worldview of pretty much every us president before george h w bush and also that of donald trump. It is you you. You believe that christian mores should infuse the government that natural law should be the basis of positive law. That is what you could what you could know as good and evil based on reason that reaffirmed What's taught in divine revelation. But you're drawing it. At of reason. You know we hold these shoot to be self evident rational arguments based on human nature. That should be the basis of morality not tribal solidarity like black lives matter on new black or white lives matter or any other kind of tribalism and not class solidarity like marxism or socialism and not theocracy where you say divine revelation what it says in my sacred book must be imposed by no natural law which you know are reflecting on what mankind is and who we are what we are people that should be the basis of law but you don't wanna global dictatorship a global oligarchy like the united nations. Are you back to the tower of babel. I can see. I know. I can see you getting there but for second i was like wait a minute. Where's he going. But now i know joe so keep going keep going up. You don't want a global lists remote oligarchy like the un or the eu or napoleon's empire or the soviet union or the new world order. You don't want distant remote elite bureaucrats imposing their will on ordinary people. You want people to be elect governments in their own countries. Is that the president who has a big supporter of and i went to nevada with rick. Grenell to lawyer on his behalf after the disputed election of last november. I kinda i kinda think. "Let's begin with nancy. Pelosi making what i think is a grave error. I think she always hear about. Donald trump destroyed the norms. Okay nancy pelosi as speaker is wiping out the all the customs traditions of the house of representatives and she must pay what she did is on this baloney january six commission. And i gotta tell you about january six guys. i keep hearing how. It's a giant riot and insurrection. Look i was in the los angeles riots. Fueled by maxine waters not democrat. I was on the streets for three weeks with third battalion. Hundred and sixtieth infantry. That's a riot what happened on capitol hill was a frat party. Okay no comparison all right and the only person killed on. Capitol hill was an unarmed trespasser veteran. Shot by a cop whose name we don't know. Dozens were murdered in los angeles. So you know. Save your drama for your mama. 'cause i'm not entertaining. It and nancy pelosi wants to have this kangaroo court commission so she appoints liz. Cheney nominal republican and now she's going to appoint adam kin zinger the r-enfield of the gop caucus but she's not allowing kevin mccarthy to put jim banks big friend a show and jim jordan on the committee. She doesn't approve. She is picking who the republicans can put on committees. This cannot stand. This is not happened before. Now they strip marjorie taylor green her seats and that was a bad precedent. But it's special. This was a merger we we had to do it. If kevin mccarthy doesn't retaliate. They've set a new standard. "Has it ever occurred to you that there's an opportunity cost to this? I'm serious. Opportunity cost for those economic economics majors out there. That the relentless focus by the CDC and liberals on putting a face diaper on your face against your will, In many cases, that this relentless focus and this nonstop And vaccine mandates has taken away from measures that may have actually stopped or mitigated this pandemic significantly like treatments, hydroxychloroquine ivermectin. Remdesivir whatever it doesn't matter. Has that ever occurred to you? That this relentless focus you've cost yourself time. That there are other things out there other than face diapers. Has it ever occurred or you so focused on this? Because Donald Trump once said he wasn't so sure about master whatever. That you're never that This is the only thing you're going to talk about forever. And why haven't you applied? Then this same approach to other viral infections and respiratory. Are we going to do this now? Every cold season. You understand there's a risk here. If these things work to face diapers, then why didn't they work? Jim, are these dumb question? I mean, in my, uh Okay. Thank you Think. Why didn't why do we have to keep doing it then? Masks will stop this spread. We have an outbreak of the deadly No. No Mass will stop the spread. This time. "Nancy pelosi put an end to the republican effort to disrupt the work of the select committee on january six. Today there's new reporting the speakers adding even more republicans to the already bipartisan investigation. Many hossan and katie hill are here to talk about at all next. I've heard that from everybody. Many many people told me that was a loving gra correspond with president. Donald trump talking to washington post reporters carolina and philip rucker about the loving crowd at the january. Six rally. just before the insurrection. Now more than five hundred people from the said loving crowd who marched the capital and started a riot have been arrested as a massive investigation into what happened. That day continues the house. Select committee is now moving forward. Today speaker pelosi defended her decision to continue without any of the five republicans picked by house. Minority leader kevin mccarthy after she vetoed two of them and he pulled the three. Select committee is bipartisan. And it has a and it will do. The job it sets out to do. "Gordon Gordon. Silent and Bill Taylor testifying in in that Senate Chamber and continued to deny that something very wrong didn't happen I I from what I've seen has been taking this really seriously. All right I appreciate your time senator. Thanks very much for being with me. I know you just have a few more minutes and obviously you're going back into that room. Look AH my panel here. I have to crucial questions coming out of of the conversation. There was no murphy. First of all let me ask you this. What he just ended with that he thinks everyone's paying close attention and I did did point out? There have been some commentary about people dozing off and and again. I did not say that to be light. I said that to set up a series question but his point is maybe. The senators weren't paying close attention engine as we were watching this every day in the house. Maybe they hadn't seen all these full testimonies. Do you think it's possible that people in that room really were learning things about the time line about the phone call in Kiev. Is it possible they really did. SORTA go wow. I think it is possible and I follow this very closely. And there are certain aspects who the presentation evidence that I learned this notion of. Tell me specifically per agency what documents you're seeking to get. I know I've heard names like Mick Mulvaney. We've heard John Blair. We've I've heard about other people who they want to hear from but tell me specifically what you're hoping to Glean and what the testimony during the impeachment inquiry lead you to believe that documents existed assisted. Now make them at all. Come together in one. Easy package is what was missing in this and math. The actual story of the narrative. That's Morton in trying to make the documents. That's why the gate litigators field are so great at what they're doing. Because you have to actually make that compartmentalization make sense and here. You have per agency although it seems exhaustive to all of us to have an amendment that goes through painstakingly each particular aspect of it. It is setting. Say You wondered why we wanted information and well because Gordon Farmland said this bill Taylor that this health ed not just generally we want documents from the. It's this leads to this leads to this specific Taepodong exactly and we didn't have that till now and that is a way of learning that actually is very compelling. It's persuasive in maybe I opening So what do you make of the fact though that Senator Murphy also said he's not confident that he has those those votes Sir Susan Collins can say what she says. Lamar Alexander can say what she says. His conversations today in these breaks would indicate he is not confident. He has the Republican votes for witness. If if if I were a moderate Republican senator. I wouldn't tell Senator Murphy what I'm about to do. Because their argument is whether you accept it or not they want to hear the they want to hear from the managers. And they WANNA hear from the president's defenders and then they're going to make pick up their mind whether more materials is necessary if they were to tell Senator Murphy now that they were going to vote for witnesses then. That argument is bogus but I think some of them believe it and so I think Senator Murphy should wait and in next politically though. He's making a smart move right. You have the feeling of urgency agency. He does but but politically but I also think that he probably understands that those centers are not going to tell him. He's not number one on their call list to to tell when they've made up their mind that they're gonna go against Mitch McConnell. They're going to wait until there's all this information and there's real pressure and then they'll say Mitch or Senate whatever they call him to do this. I'm just going to have to do this. I'm sorry and you. You see those cracks. Yeah and I think what what Senator Murphy there was applying applying maximum pressure and. That's what today is these. Are Rules votes in the Senate and the House are generally party line. They generally get attention. They don't matter. It's reasonably reasonably easy for a Susan Collins or a Mitt Romney to say this is just the rules. Were Okay and we got our concessions but it's very rare in politics that you see you know the the the train moving in one direction at stop and move back it you know. If if even th- the pressure of last night and the news coverage forced Collins and Portman and others into McConnell's office saying that's a bad trend but I agree Also with everything that Maggie Haberman said before which just they feel like they can wrap this and hold these guys and the big thing is they will a book. They will have learned stuff but the questions doesn't matter if they know the case is terrible and they may still say. I'm with the president yet. Maggie they are preparing for witnesses. They're preparing for the possibility of witnesses and really the witness again that they're really concerned about somebody like a John Bolton who has appeared as a wildcard in a way that someone like Mick Mulvaney has not. They would be mistaken if they weren't preparing for the possibility that this could happen. One thing that they've been actually very clear eyed about despite Sort of more public sense of I wouldn't say bluster but but confidence they're very clear that this could end up going in a number of different directions that they're not predicting and so other preparing for it. All right and thank you all very much for being with me And if we anticipate obviously they're going to be heading back into that chamber to consider that Fourth Amendment momentarily. "Well guess what the first time will be able to answer questions or ask questions or even look at the documents. According to Colin statement is after they've got twenty four hours from each item opening statements and then sixteen hours of questions and then they get to look at it. But there's no opportunity Zuni then ask more questions for follow up so what we the point of having verdict first trial next to paraphrase laurence tribe earlier today. If you actually want to deliberate and have have information wouldn't you want right now even if it might not go your way just to have it to either support your argument but trust the credibility of the witness is that may or may not show Auburn Com or even to have a leg to stand on. So so who do you think. Is the winner here today than Ryan. I mean obviously when this amendment is discussed as it. We'll be next right after this dinner break you're then going to have The Mick Mulvaney discussion and then they're gonNA extensively as we've seen with everything else table that amendment so you'll Republicans say they don't want to hear from Mick Mulvaney even though perhaps they do. Who is the winner? So I think the winner might be that the American public actually does get to hear from the witnesses that seems to be what's happening happening here. Yeah it seems real reflection on the pressure that's being placed on certain Republicans to do the right thing or do the thing that's their constituents want. CNN just had the poll in the last two days that it says sixty nine percent of Americans want there to be witnesses and a plurality of Republicans want there to be witnesses. I think that's really the variable. That's putting pressure for are there to be change until we've seen cracks emerge that we wouldn't have anticipated just twenty four hours ago. I WANNA bring in Maggie Haberman from New York Times Maggie as we. Have this break here this this we we anticipate it'll go till right around eight o'clock eastern Then they're gonNA come back and deliberate on whether Mick Mulvaney would-be subpoenaed At this point in the process what are you learning from your reporting. Look I I I think that I I agree that there are some cracks here and there are reasons to believe that there might be some movement but everyone I speak to around. The trump team still feels fairly confident that they are going to see see Republicans. Hold the line not go for witnesses. The again the main person the White House had been concerned about was Lamar Alexander. They they believe and they could be wrong to be clear. We have repeatedly seen the White House project certainty about something when it's not really clear but they believe this is going to move ahead without witnesses being called call if witnesses are called and say there is a discussion about subpoenaing John Bolton and having him come forward he is somebody who they've spent a lot of time focusing on how they would keep keep him from complying Mick Mulvaney. They're not concerned about He is already Talked about needing permission from the president. And that's how he handled the house. John Bolton has since said he would Comply with a Senate subpoena and so the concern of the White House. Is You have to go through a process of making sure that information that was privy to was classified and then go to court sort and so we already saw some discussions around court cases in the house. inquiry You would likely something similar here if it got to that point. What do you make of how that goes? Though at that. Point I mean is is something like privilege or immunity a something. That would be upheld in any serious way. Given that so much of what is being discussed is is already public right. So the idea that Bolton can come testify and then claiming executive privilege doesn't really work so well since we've already had his deputies present evidence the house so the idea that the president needs to maintain confidentiality. There's very communications have already been disclosed to the public. We now need to hear from the Horse's mouth. So John Bolton did you say it it was a drug deal John Bolton. Did you raise concerns with the legal team inside the National Security Council. That's a huge part of it so for them to be able to say no he can still refuse to actually answer specific civic questions. They're pretty weak position and There's a strong argument that the executive privilege idea doesn't survive in an impeachment hearing. Maybe it's advise as with regular congressional oversight but there's good arguments that the balance Congress is acting at the zenith of its power. Here is not the instance in which you can actually try to maintain. This evidence is confidential. The Laura what do you think I think that's absolutely right. The idea as well as interesting both both parties to trump's defense team and of course the house managers are making an argument about separation of power is being at the. We're maybe at the tail end unless it goes their way in terms of privilege or immunity issues and interesting to have both make that argument because if they are both right it would force witnesses to be there right. The only way to actually assert your oversight power only way to actually say yes. This person has done the wrong thing or has done. The right thing is for a witness to be called manage like they agree on this very fine point about the notion I've listened. There is no privilege that will protect you in general for criminal activity. There's no privileges says as long as you are the president no matter what conversation you've ever had is always protected and it depends on whether talking about Bolton talking to another member of a cabinet. It's not the president. Is that still covering the privilege. This is very novel and of course we do have a chief justice sitting right there who may be somebody to want to weigh in on this but his hands are tied in a way because if he does this now any case coming down the pipeline he will have shown his hand so if a catch twenty two. We're trying to navigate. I mean mean these are the big question Jocelyn. How was the performance today? Joe How would you say I mean obviously You know we we saw at Bologna. A lot of people had no idea what it's Baloney lights until today when the president's obviously chief defenders J. Secolo we saw again on behalf of the President Adam Schiff obviously taking the lead role and we just saw him here on this amendment about Oh oh mb recounting the phone. Call in between Gordon's online and the President Jason Crowe from Colorado Just made his first appearance. How would you say so far? The performance is come into these amendments. Well I think it's worth going back to nineteen ninety nine and comparing it because it's almost the opposite in in my mine. I think in one thousand nine hundred nine. The House impeachment manners did a pretty good job but they came off as very political. And I think you know chuck. Ruff the White House counsel David Kendall the president's personal turning on all of the lawyers there Won The day as far as the debate because they came off as factual it was like this is what the law is. This is what happened and we're just gonNA keep his that. The opposite happened today. I think the Democrats particularly the the manager so we hadn't seen so much from Jason Pro. Val demings Zoe lofgren. We're very very clear. And the only way I mean I think the chip was a little bit political But there are some points that need to be rebutted and I think that that is much different. I you know I. I told people today that if I'd been in the White House today I'd be underneath my desk in the fetal position. That's how poorly I think particularly jaysekulow. A cycle did They they feels like they took the memo from the House. Republicans and said. Oh Yeah we just scream and yell and say conspiracy and hoax ridiculous and breathtaking and we'll be fine. They've misread the senate. The Senate is very different than the house and people expected something different today. They didn't get it from those. The White House lawyers now again. I may be wrong. We may find a different conclusion. But I think that the president was let down today by and Maggie aggie. What's your feeling from talking to them? Obviously what they're gonNA say. It may be perhaps different than what they feel. But what are you read between the lines. They've stuck pretty much to the playbook that they telegraphed they were going to do. Going into this We haven't heard yet what the president's reaction has been catching up to all of this. He's in Davos right now And he always weighs in on how his team performs on television. I'm sure he'll have lots of things to say whether it's private or He tweets something about it but they actually feel pretty good about how they handled today. Because the thing as as I was listening to Joe Talk I think that in previous iterations of history You would have people who would be unwilling to go out and say that something. Nothing had happened Something happened that didn't happen as you saw repeatedly from the president's lawyers today and then you would feel bad about it afterwards but when you are the president's lawyers and you're walking into this and you are ah basically of the belief is a foregone conclusion we're gonNA find out whether they misread the senate or not but they believe that this has been stacked in a way that favors them mm-hmm temp. Well Val demings talking about well demings per minute. Remember that most of these senators are look how impeach matters most of these centers are lawyers and she explained what we what we the American people need to know and it is very hard art when you go document by document to think that this is a that this has some kind fishing expedition to make these grand statements about. It's a witch hunt. It's a fishing expedition when she took she brought it down to the document level and each of these demands was reasonable. There's an advantage that the Democrat. That did that. The house managers have gotten today. They had a chance to preview their prosecutorial briefs today right and this is not the open history may have felt that way to some people. Why don't you but that is not not what it was and I think that this is important for the senators? Even more of the American people one of the things I think it's true in one thousand nine hundred. Nine is the senators. Despite the fact that the House had had had these hearings didn't know the details of the case against President Clinton. They learning things. I think. The senators are learning being things today. I think many of them blocked out what happened in the house. They don't really know the details and today Jason Crowe Valda and the other managers managers were going point by point in a loyally factual professional way and the senators. Many of whom are lawyers had to actually be affected by this and of course they didn't their phones or anything else. All right all of you please stay with me. We're GONNA take a brief break. Senator Chris Murphy will be with us just coming out of that room during the break right. Afterwards we'll be right back.

Show you stayed in Michigan. So what happens the next day after we talked to him. So the next Eh. I arrive very early and already there are people there. Oh gotta go. And they're upset they're pissed west and that's because slatkin had already announced her decision in the local paper that morning of course we'd both understood from the interview where this go. Yes but she told her constituents and so in this bed. She says very clearly that she is voting. Yes on both articles of impeachment Moscow. Go Nature remove fat so people are lining up to get inside the auditorium where the town hall meeting will be held and outside. There's a bunch of protesters with big signs saying impeach slot can keep trump in bright eight red letters and some of them are carrying much smaller signs. That say we have your back. Which is the message? Exactly you're doing ask you very quickly. People start yelling at each other young Russia Russia. Because I'm a veteran and I do not support. Russia held a special to me. And you ask me about the one exchange that I found particularly memorable list. Was this veteran. You're standing. You're an American as an American talk in Washington in person who got very emotional and she basically said your your spouting Russian talking points to me to say. That Ukraine interfered in our election. It is the blue. Put your country for once. Okay are you. Would you like to discussing into people are really challenging each other's patriotism sooner or you can listen Brag about about bribing train with a billion dollars. Do you WanNa hear it. They're just looking at the facts and a totally different way. What prime name name one crime you jumped in? I'm listening abuse the power. Okay that they what exactly did he do to to abuse power. Save one having a foreign country meddle in the election. That's along join our in saying are you. Open Your Eyes Okay. So finally as we head into the auditorium in a large room people are registering and then walking into the auditorium. The rooms packed. How many chairs are here for eighteen? So we set up for about four hundred people. It's it's filling up. There are tons of media national local press covering this event. Can you tell. Tell me where you're from the Flint Journal and Mlive Dot Com merce news. I'm here for NPR Today. Simone from roll-call the Detroit free press the Oakland Press Detroit News. The New York Times Huffington having post Washington Post Associated Press Michigan advance. CNN and it's clear that this is the story which is moderate Democrats and their volna ability in this vote that they're taking. Let's play spock onto the stage. So what happens next. She's introduced by one of her staffers and she takes the stage age and immediately lately. The crowd erupts in both cheers and boom everybody. Well I'm thrilled to see such a great turnout today. Please please let her speak. And she basically can't get a word in let's please. I'm back to the people around you. We're here to listen. There is a very loud group in the corner of the room that is making it almost impossible for her to be heard by the rest of the room so in an attempt to be transparent. I'm going to walk you through my logic and I know it's clear that we don't all agree. I thought we needed to let the election of twenty twenty decide what was going to happen in our country. Those change that changed for me gone the very basic facts that the president of the United States who came out and his lawyer came out and said very specifically and they're screaming all sorts of things. Asian you and that is very different than and how president power right to be honest with you. I worked at the National Security Council under George Bush. I worked under the national security. The council under Barack Obama and presidents regularly meals their power. So the Ganders. Don't quite give her the chance to explain herself that she told us she been hoping for not really. They regularly leverage their position to influence other countries. That's a normal part of what a president does but what was fundamentally mentally different for me. Is that president. And there's one guy in particular in the back who screams you're part of the squad. The squad runs the Democrats the four best known house freshmen liberals. Exactly and at one point he even gets up and yells. You belong to Rashida uh-huh and what's so fascinating about this moment. Is that when we started reporting at the beginning of this year on the Freshman Class of Democrats it was exactly that completion completion. That people like Elissa Slacken. Were trying to avoid because they knew the Republicans would try to lump all the Democrats together as trump heating in left wing progressive. They would try to make a slot can and to lead indistinguishable. They're very different exactly and MM slatkin has been so cautious in this process. She's been thorough. She has had careful reasoning but none of that matters. In this moment moment she is Rashida sleep. According to this protesters the constitution letter said that the squawk nor should it but not since. I think that's exactly what gets under slatkin's skin this this feeling of not being understood in the way that she understands herself that no matter what she says no matter what she believes a significant number of her constituents or just going to see her as this kind of character of a Democrat and they're never going to agree with her and she's not going to be able to get rid of them. You could help health her voice that maybe she expected this. Maybe this seemed surprised. But it's still hard all right. Thank you very much for coming out today. Please leave safely back. Thank you thank you for listening. Appreciate it thank. You've are being good citizens.

"Now the thank you thank everybody for being here. It is great feedback. You're at thirty rock with all of you here. Could God today day today has been ten days and this week has been ten weeks and there are a million things happening at once. Just in the past couple of hours hours for instance we just got this incredibly incriminating in damning behind closed doors testimony from a US foreign service officer. That was supposed to be kind of like the e story day. The side show. It's a guy who works in the US embassy in Ukraine. A guy named David Holmes He. He testified behind closed doors that he could hear president trump talking on the phone to the US ambassador the European Union an inaugural donor give million bucks. Mr Trump Gordon someone and they were in a restaurant in Keiv and the president was shouting so loudly in the phone that Sunland John Lynch to hold the phone away from his ear because it was hurting his ear drum so then everyone could hear and After he hung up with the president told told this guy the guy who testified David Holmes the president does not give. And I'm quoting now so I can say it does not gonNA shit about Ukraine. He only cares about the big stuff and buy big stuff. He means investigations into the binds. Right yes that's all right area action in a restaurant and shouting through the phone so that just happened. We're GONNA have more on that very crazy testimony testimony later but this week one keep in mind in the public televised impeachment hearings the United States. It's just the fourth time in American history that we're all going through this process. I think it's fair to say and maybe I'm a bit biased. But I think it's fair to say he's not going really well for the president the first week today even before that breaking news was especially busy busy day in the in the criminal. Chronicles of one president. Donald J trump so the president's longtime longtime advisor and Associate Roger Stone. Today was convicted on seven counts in a federal court..

"The whole world was watching his impeachment hearing? I have a watch for one minute. And what Democrats. They're planning for a second act. If this is not impeachable conduct what is all in starts right. Now it's the ultimate impeachable offense. Good evening from New York. I'm Chris as it's here today. The House of Representatives held its first public televised hearing into the impeachment of president. Donald J trump. It is just the fourth time in American history that we've done this kind of thing as a country so if you're under the age of twenty you're not alive. The the last time this happened today. The American people got a fuller picture of the corrupt abuse of power. By the President of the United States we've known for over a month about the catalyst catalyst for this investigation. When the Ukrainian president told President trump he wanted to buy more American weapons and the president responded quote? I would like you to do us a favor though. So we have the call notes. We've gotten thousands and thousands of pages of transcripts from impeachment depositions of people testifying behind closed doors about what happened but today we got to hear it and see it with our own eyes it was truly historic the first witnesses in the impeachment hearing acting. US Ambassador to Ukraine. William Taylor her and Deputy Assistant Secretary St George Can. They testified in front of the House. Intelligence Committee for more than five hours and what we heard was specific testimony about right. How president trump withheld military systems from Ukraine? A country currently occupied by Russia. A country in desperate need of that aid and assistance in order to squeeze the new Ukrainian president into manufacturing dirt on the president's political rival ambassador. Taylor a man who served in critical State Department rolls around the world for over three decades and who somewhat remarkably still wakes up every morning when he's back in Ukraine and goes to work at the US embassy in Keiv described a conversation with us. Ambassador mastered the European Union. Gordon Sunland when Taylor realized the president trump was in fact withholding this vital military aid for his own personal. The game sent ambassador. Solomon text message asking if we are now saying that the security systems and a White House meeting conditioned edition on Investigations. Besser Sahlin responded asking me to call him which I did during that phone call. Investor Solomon told me that president didn't trump had told him that he wants presidents Alinsky to state publicly that Ukraine will investigate Barista and alleged Ukrainian interference in the two thousand sixteen sixteen election. Besser saw also told me that he now recognized that he had made a mistake by earlier telling Ukrainian officials that only a White House meeting with presence. Linski was dependent on a public announcement of the investigations. In fact ambassador Sunland said everything. Everything was dependent on such announcement including security assistance. Ambassador Taylor also explained how he learned that the words investigate corruption. We're just code for for investigate the Democrats and the bites. I'd come to understand well before. Then that investigations was a term ambassadors. Volker Sondheim used to mean matters related to the two thousand sixteen elections and to end to investigations of Barack Obama and Biden's Taylor also made a huge bit of news today when he revealed a previously undisclosed recent communication with a member of his staff that clearly demonstrates present from priorities and motivations keep in mind that the interaction action Taylor's describing and a bit of sound I'm going to play for you is from literally the day after trump's infamous phone call with Ukrainian president last Friday. A member of my staff told me of events that occurred on July twenty six while investor Vulcan Volcker and I visited the Front member of my staff accompanied ambassador. sunlen investor Sunland met with Mr Yearbook following that meeting in the presence of my staff at a restaurant. Aunt Besser Solomon called president trump and told him of his meetings and gave the member of my staff could hear president trump on the phone asking ambassador. Excellent about the investigations toll president trump the Ukrainians were ready to move forward following the call. With president trump trump. The member of my staff asked investors on what president trump thought about Ukraine. That's the song and responded that President Trump cares more about the investigations of Biden. MM which Giuliani was pressing for. I mean there you have it gas right. President trump cares more about the investigations of Biden. Sure does that is what this whole thing is about Gordon sunlit. A man who donated a million dollars the trump inaugural committee basically got the ambassador Gig as a thank. You meets with his the top Ukrainian official the day after the president. If Mr Call after that meeting someone goes to a restaurant in the middle of the restaurant decided to just ring up the pres- The update them and the president has solvent about the investigations. And he's doing it so loudly that other people near Sunland can hear President Trump Advisor Saga and tells them the deal. Well is on. We've closed it. You talked to him yesterday. I'm here in person to close. Ukrainians are ready to move forward with the investigations to sources. Tell them you see news. The man who related that account to master tailor a man named David Holmes will now be giving a private deposition to the committee on Friday. Trump was asked about that conversation. A press conference this afternoon and completely saying I don't recall dot at all not even a little bit. Today's hearing was the first opportunity for congressional Republicans to publicly cross examined people who had front row seats the presence. Extortion of Ukraine was their chance to refute the accusations being made to build a strong defense. The president's actions they it did not really do any of those things instead. They tried to make the hearing all about Joe Biden. Some argue that what those political investigations were in the best interest of Ukraine the US. Pass the deputy assistant secretary stage. George Kent Shredded. That defense is pressuring Ukraine to conduct. What I believe you've called political goal investigations a part of US foreign policy to promote the rule of law in Ukraine and around the world? It is not is it in the national interest of the United States. In my opinion it is not so in other words. It is a purpose of our foreign policy to encourage for nations to refrain from conducting political investigations. Is that right correct. And in fact as a matter of policy not of programming We oftentimes raise our concerns usually in private with countries that we feel are engaged in selective political prosecution and persecution of their opponents. It's George Ken who previously served as the senior anti-corruption coordinate coordinator in the State Department's here pin Bro- borough saying President Trump's pressure campaign was itself a kind of corruption that it was bad for the US and bad for Ukraine. Which I think just about sums up the entire story? We heard today joining me now. One of the members of Congress who questioned the two witnesses today Democratic Congressman Roger Crystal Worthy of Illinois a member both the House intelligence and oversight. Committee's Congressman. What did you think of today? What did you learn? Well I had about three takeaways a I is. We did learn new information. That makes it look like president. Trump was even more deeply involved than we previously thought. I mean for him to basically have a cell phone call with Sunland the very day after the July twenty fifth call to just kind of close the deal. As you mentioned before is news the second takeaway I had was at the witnesses presented very compelling in testimony Especially Ambassador Taylor and then the third is We actually maintain some good decorum today. It wasn't the circus that some people feared and I think credit goes the chairman shift for maintaining an excellent Set of proceedings laying the ground rules very clearly and dealing with points points of order and so forth Expeditiously in a fair way. One thing I noticed today and I'm curious if you had the same impression I did not hear. Republicans Republicans on the committee or the committee lawyer attempts to essentially make the case that there wasn't a kind of exchange condition quid pro. Whatever you WANNA call it seems to be you that the arguments about whether it was successful or whether it's legitimate interest to the United States to do that it was that your understanding of of of your colleagues arguments arguments yes? I did not hear too many arguments that you know. A lot of the central allegations the substance and of the charges against the President are actually non meritorious are false. It was rather like you said it was more with regard to yeah this happened but it was almost like the Mick Mulvaney get over it type of defense. What do you think the groundwork was laid today? And what are you you. How do you understand the trajectory of these hearings as they go forward well as you know there? A number of witnesses coming before US and the next couple for weeks on Friday we hear from Ambassador Ianovich and basically heard testimonies very important because essentially what she's going to be talking about If you read her deposition position transcript you would see that. Essentially a smear campaign was Kind of propagated against her by Giuliani to remove who've her and make way for the three Amigos namely Volker Sunlen and carry on with Giuliani to commandeer Ukraine policy not necessarily in the best interest of America but in the best interests of Giuliani's clients people like Donald Trump and maybe other potential International Actors as well today from Republicans was Complain about hearsay which they said a lot. That Taylor for instance ambassador killer never actually spoke directly directly to the president minor standings. And there's a number of people who have spoken directly president that had been called the committee that have declined. Would you like to be able to talk to say Mick Mulvaney or Rick Perry before your committee sure but but on the other hand there are a number of people coming. That have talked to the president's such as Gordon Sunland. Who's he's appearing next week but the most important thing that I would just point out? Is You know Gordon Sunland Tim. Morrison and others basically vouch for the recounting of these conversations with the president or is Alinsky that Ambassador tailor-made and so I have not yet heard anybody dispute these particular descriptions of those conversations and that's very important. How do you understand what your role is Both with you as a member of Congress but also the committee in this. I mean as you said before. These individuals have given depositions behind closed doors. What do you see is the function Shen of today and Friday and going forward? I think at least two functions one laying out the evidence in a way that's clear earlier and that educates the American public about what we've learned and then secondly asking questions building on what we learned in the depositions so for instance you know Mr Samland is coming in next Wednesday. He gave his deposition that he gave an addendum to his deposition. Clarifying certain points in the deficit uh-huh deposition so we'll want to know why like what what prompted for instance These clarifications. What more can you tell us? What can you tell us about this other conversation recession that we've learned just today that's going to be very important so at the same time we'll be laying out what we've learned? We're going to try to learn more. And that's very import. All right congressman it's been Roger Crystal Worthy Thank you very much. Thank you Chris. Joining me our to legal experts who are paying close attention. Today's hearing Melissa. Murray professor of Constitutional Law Matthew Miller former chief spokesperson for the Department of Justice now. MSNBC justice and national security analysts. Melissa I'll start with. You thought that I was not expecting that..

It's taught mix tape pot sonic love letter canonica daily musical journey into other human lives. Listen for free wherever you get your poke cost and sign up avenues project DOT org. We're back in a TV. The interview in the glow of victory per scale quoted his wife candace Blount. She said that I was thrown into the Super Bowl. Never played a game in one and Pascale took his super bowl ring and monetize it. He tried to really cash in on the success of the presidential campaign. He actually pitched his commercial work. As the per scale effect and the notion was Mr Commercial Businessman Company Higher Birth scale to do the magic for your company that he did for Donald Trump that was kind of a theme he starts working on a project for the Dallas Mavericks. He pitches a high dollar digital marketing campaign campaign for seaworld does paid speeches in Romania and Monaco. He spotted flying around the world walking down an airplane. I'll he's hard to miss but he's also continuing to do. Political work literally from the moment trump takes office after the whole issue with the fight and the ad commissions per scale reframe things for the twenty twenty election says he's only taking a three hundred thousand dollars regear salary from the campaign but he positions himself to be the beneficiary of much larger income streams for his campaign work while his collecting the salary from the campaign his company gets paid millions of dollars by the Republican National Committee to make and buy ads well. There's certainly nothing the wrong people in politics making money of course there are lots of high level operatives for both parties who have unapologetically cashed in. It's business as usual for the political political class. Pascale says he's doing this for the love of country and trump working for trump is clearly made brad millions and transformed his life. He now drives Ferrari A and B. M. W. He owns a gorgeous two point four million dollar waterfront home in Florida the money from the campaign and the RNC weren't the only way press gal was making money after the two thousand sixteen election. His company was also making money from a pro-trump dark money group called America first and and that's a group that's free from the normal restrictions on disclosing its donors on how much money can raise and how it spends money under the law. These groups are barred art from coordinating with a political campaign but per scale had actually co founded this group along with other trump campaign operatives and he was simultaneously only getting paid by both trump's reelection campaign and America. First Common Cause has filed complaints about this with both the Federal Election Commission and the Justice Department I meant the complaints are still pending after scales named campaign manager in February two thousand eighteen America first which has to publicly report. It's payments suddenly suddenly stopped paying Brad's company personnel strategy but then per scales crew didn't stop doing the work and he didn't stop making money from it. He incorporated rated a mysterious Delaware. LC that had no public connection to him. It's called Red State Data and digital it took over the work per scall- was doing for America the first Super Pac. It's payments as reported in Public Federal Election Commission filings were to a anonymous mail-drop at a Pennsylvania Avenue ups. PS Store and the secretive new company which had no other known clients is made more than nine hundred thousand dollars at first per scale all set his company's work for the RNC the Super Pac and the trump campaign were all legally vetted after PROPUBLICA and other news organizations began asking further questions for scale said he'd stopped doing advise for the RMC but all of that back and forth obscured something Peter you uncovered something else. It's not just that scale was getting streams of income from the campaign. Super PAC and the RNC. It's that the trump campaign has taken over the currency. NC An unprecedented ways under trump the currency has become practically a wholly owned subsidiary of the trump campaign. Now it's not unusual for president to direct their parties to play a critical role but as with so much else in this situation trimtabs way way further than any of his predecessors have one way this has happened. There's a metric down ballot candidates people running for governor or Congress look at called voter scores. It's information Russian on how voters in a particular district feel about trump which could affect campaign ads and messaging previously the RNC would allow these Republican Republican candidates to see this information not trump so candidates in Michigan or Ohio or Illinois who who were trying to figure out how best to run their campaigns how best to be victorious. Republican candidates are deprived of the information from the party on how L. voters in their district feel about trump. RNC officials say the data belongs to the trump campaign which is free to withhold it. If the president wants America I declined comment. It's kind of an enforced loyalty. They don't have the information that they need that might incline them to distance themselves therefore they're in this situation of of being afraid that if they don't hue very closely to the president and to his wishes that that they're going to jeopardize their own candidacies clearly president trump is not patient or tolerant of people that try try to run campaigns distance themselves from him and it's not just the fear factor the parties actually also depriving them of information that might be helpful in them winning reelection or winning office and in two thousand sixteen trump promise to drain the swamp to fund his own on campaign to reduce the influence of big donors. That's not what happened so here. We have what's projected to be America's first billion-dollar in dollar political campaign if so much money rocketing through the trump campaign and updates related accounts and the groups that are supporting trump and per scale is at the center of it all all he personifies a huge issue which is how big money has taken over American politics.

"That's how i ha i start every andrea he oversaw our path to the civil war he was dislodged by one donald j trump as the worst president in history in these rankings of this is a survey presidential scholars what do you make of that well i make i thought it was very interesting the reaction that the survey got toco vernon and just ended survey first and two thousand fourteen first name by the way and holly savers loayza van der holly saw world is so small already knows yet or basically had not that many of us there this nerdy so they do this every in 2014 obviously trump was not on an whatever buchanan was less than they did this in 2018 and there was this huge outcry of why would you survey a sitting president and it's only been a year and i thought it was sort of interesting from uh kind of how do we how do we think about this stuff uh perspective and here's my take about that based on some of the logic of the peace i had this morning is that there's a lot of perspective you obviously lose from not knowing what happens later like you obviously can't know with the rest of the presidency is going to be like or who the successor will be which can tells you with impact of the party was um and the impact on the party but what you do know is you have any kind of sense of what we're the problems with that president were was trying to solve and how with how is that president meeting them in the.
