"With type two diabetes or pre pre diabetics. They'll jump right to the to the to medication. As opposed to naturally do things to help either reverse or manage it. That's right that's right and so and Metformin is your first line therapy for beatty's yes right. So there's a time and place for medication in absolutely want to be reducing be additional risks that come diabetes. Will we want to keep in mind? That medications like Metformin can affect fertility. Could cool chemotherapy exposure so many who have gone through Cancer Treatment Chemo will have a pretty big impact. That's not to say that men cannot have children after chemo. But it is something to consider antacids Prescription medication for heartburn has been shown to diminish facility right in an patients tend to be on that type of medication for an extended period of time. Right we know that Cholesterol lowering medication because cholesterol medication. It's all in its name. It lowers cholesterol and testosterone is made from cholesterol. You're lowering essentially the the total cholesterol. In the body we also know that antidepressants specifically selective. Serotonin reuptake inhibitors This woman who take those medications will tend to report feeling having sexual dysfunction lowered Libido is lower sex drive and even delayed ejaculation. And so what happens when there is a delay It's kind of like we can. It's akin to say there's the semen is ready to go. But it's not being ejaculated comes sits around and because of turbulence the turbulence can actually damage sperm because obviously everything's bouncing around each other. That's right that's right and so we know that antidepressants can can do that. Happens so those are some of the things that I want meant to be thinking about? Let me ask you something. What about alcohol? A hundred percent Europe it also impart pot. Pot will one hundred percent lower testosterone for sure for sure right and we know with respect to alcohol is four drinks a week not a day. A week has an impact on men's fertility. So how well the sperm swimming and how how high quality our okay. So and not mentioned I mean. Alcohol will reduce the blood flow to the Penis Men's evil achieving direction as a lot. More difficult with the with the long term effects of alcohol. Which is why. I'm glad we're having this conversation during the time of Corona because as we're home for extended periods of time we become a little bit more loose with alcohol took and it's really we need to rein that in. We need to check that because this is not vacation and we don't know how long this is a good go on for so we cannot develop a new habit of consuming alcohol regularly. No I agree one hundred percent one hundred percent. That's one of the things that when I do my challenges or my programs. I always tell them this the challenge for sure. I'll say this is your dry month. Not Drinking anything And and generally after that month happens when no one drinks they feel way better right. Even if they try to introduce packages it's like author the ramifications that they have totally negates them from going back and even in my program the month number one. There's no alcohol because we won't get rid of all the things that not only damage your T. levels but also in this conversation fertility. Because let's say you. You mentioned something before we went on about like even. If you're not thinking about having emanate may even if that's not even your thought. I'm fifty one now and I'm not going to have a child anymore. That's we've got other plans for live live. So why would I even care fertility at this moment? Because your your fertility is is an aspect of your overall health equity is good. It means you're your overall. Health is good. If we can infer from your fragility that your metabolic health is up to snuff that from a nutritional standpoint that you are replete okay. So those are we wanna be thinking about fertility in that regard like is the fifth vital sign. Right right now. I guess that's not. That's not obviously because I never. I would never thought that I would if I was going to confirm freight and it's kind of like saying why don't care about fertility because I'm not I'm not planning on having kids anytime soon is like saying. I don't care about my heart health because I'm not planning on running a marathon soon crazy which is because you need exactly right so like unless you've been snipped there's way no hundred percent guarantee that you know you're not going to concede with your partner that being said you know things like agent stuff Will play a role but again. I want men to think about fertility as as an opportunity to improve their health and to have a dialogue and strategy around. How how they can improve that. So we talked about. You know what lowers some of the things the major thing that lower your fertility? Wait does to obviously right like if you're overweight ya now we'll have. That will have an impact probably just the physical weight will temperature as well as the estrogen playing a big role. I also WANNA talk to. I don't know if you have if you encourage any of your listeners. Or Dominion Program to take a Multivitamin I'm about to launch one in A. Is that right okay? So the reason I mentioned it is. There's there's there's really good research to have men on a scare anybody but hasn't been on a prenatal..

I'm not GonNa Touch on everything that I've mentioned today but these are things that I want your listeners to be thinking about and speaking to a healthcare provider about jobs to make sure that their unique health needs are being addressed while. But that's a that's a big lift and but but I think that's really important because I know that even I as you're going through Michael Yeah I have. I have suffered from that in the past. Or you know those things kind of popped up and then of course for me knowing that you know in my in my group and those guys you know. They're they they ask questions all the time. A lot of health questions and you know a lot of times though the questions that they ask are more geared towards workouts and nutrition and and that sort of thing but I love that you're bringing this stuff up because this will start to. Oh Yeah No. I've got that I've got that I've got that. Maybe this is you know I should be looking more into like us. Aside from the workouts nutrition. Plan that I give them in the food that they're eating now. I can look into getting these. These nutrients or micro vitamins. Exactly and if the if you guys are out. And they're falling. You know a regimen designed to increase performance in stamina and faster recovery the museum of the baseline. Things need to be considering particularly feel like. They're not. They're not for perhaps progressing as quickly as they would expect or despite a really good workout. There just floored the next morning. These things is our in should be considered because they will affect physical physical performance wrote. Of course there are the guys who aren't in my program. Probably listening to this who may have diabetes. Maybe obese you know all of those things because a lot of times you know when you're eating unhealthy employees or not exercising or you're not focusing on health. These are just like par for the course. You'RE GONNA YOU'RE GONNA YOU'RE GONNA be checking up all of these things so I loved. I loved you started. You started with this. And some of the consequences of deficiencies particularly in men are ins like depending on the nutrient deficiency but in general we can expect accelerated aging.

"I`Ma Francis is from Dominika a small island nation in the Caribbean. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth. It's filled with mountains and rivers and hot springs and beaches. Climate Migration in the way that people who are moving as refugees for example have and I thought this was a huge gap. It felt really important to me to be working on creating legal support for climate migrants. Hello and welcome back to the world this week where exploring the place beyond a rock, which are NASA probe is reached four billion miles from us. The most distant object man's technologies yet visited a little closer to home. China has landed a probe on the far side of the moon benefiting. Mankind says Beijing, but should we fear? It's global reach never mind. It's extraterrestrial one and should Bangladesh's Prime Minister be embarrassed by her election success, but I the earth and the moon are locked in an eternal dance as each moves on it's axis. So does the other which means there's a side of the moon? The earth's never seen until this week when following a virtual news blackout. China's space agency announced that Chinese four a probe had successfully landed on terrain fall rougher than natto which Diehl Armstrong took one small step for man. One giant leap for mankind. The head of. The agency says China will carry on exploration in the hope of benefiting mankind skeptics might see that as a good public relations statements rather than a reflection of China's true objectives. Michael Bristow are East Asia editor came into the world this week studio to discuss whether it's time to see China as a force for good. Although a couple of different things I see there's the science behind it. And it was a genuine scientific achievement is also the politics about it. It's a propaganda coup for the Chinese leader Xi Jinping his big theme since he came to power was promoting something which he calls, the Chinese dream essentially returning China to its proper place as one of the world's leading countries. And part of that is to put China at the full front of science and technology. Of course, at also has an economic spinoff because it allows China to develop technology, which can be used to make money that China is a signatory to wool the regulation that exists the green zone outer space activities. So there's no suggested the Chinese are going to start kind of setting up mining robots than the moon or anything like that. It's going to be collaborative. And they was stressing public comments about their commitment to expanding knowledge for mankind. But I suppose people will think back down on earth. China's approaches Norway's so collaborative certainly you would be right. Be slightly wary of those claims the Americans have banned the Chinese from being involved in space program because they're concerned about the transfer of technology in China stealing secrets, but even when we're not talking about space. There were all kinds of concerns about whether China's development of technology is for the benefit of everybody or whether it's just for the benefit of China. A perfect example of that would be the telecom company hallway, which is perhaps China's most international company the can accompany likes project and promote because it shows all the best of Chinese learning, and and technology a genuine international company, but yet over the last. Eight year all more a number of different countries around the world of being fearful of allowing way to use technology to develop telecom infrastructure in their countries. I was in the Carribean a few years back. I was very struck on the island of Dominika by the presence of Chinese workers. Chinese laborers, a big sports stadium that had been built by the Chinese government is a gift the people of Dominique how does China defend that kind of relationship, which even some on the island worry about how it's going and others might say is not so very different from the sort of colonial activity that was seen by European countries. Like, the UK what essentially and a half ago, there is certainly a case to be made that China's only doing what other countries primarily western countries have done before China's argument is essentially this making everybody we h he's not only going to benefit China. The Chinese would say it's going to benefit everyone else as well. And so. This kind of development. You talk about issues China's gift to the world to help them. Enjoy the economic benefits act. China itself is enjoyed what are the risks of conflict over this approach. A first economic lists. Which already a number of countries, identifying example, you've seen in Malaysia Sri Lanka other countries as well where the burden of debt imposed on those countries by China because of the money, it's loan them each too much. And then the failure is that at once you get to a country, then you have to sing to whatever Choon that it plays on a wider scale as well. It's the idea that China is completely different in its outlook to the western world where we value an individual rights the rule of law tolerance, not always perfectly smooth sable. That's the aim at. But in China, it's a one party state is the Chinese communist party, they given anything. They can do whatever they liked. So the thing is, of course, that this is a country we've at completely opposite ideals to the western world. So what do they want where were they going? What do they do if they don't get what they want Michael Bristow Chinese diplomat's among the first I hasten to Brasilia when Bolsonaro won Brazil's presidential election. And at the time, he came out to someone who was very very simple, not very eloquence, and the he had one he was just striking on one chord. He was saying he was there to defend the rights of the military, but not the rights, as you know, is a grander thing. He was there to defend the salaries the schools. Some privileges that many people had mainly lower ranking sub officials in the armed forces. That's quite a contrast in terms of his background to to Obrador in Mexico who who is kind of more steeped in politics, but also for quite a long time back Lopez over Dory is a different person. He is a much more ideological person. You can call both Mavericks is a term you can use to describe them. They both driven by their own agendas. But a LOP is a was a former mayor of Mexico someone with a vision that defied this of one party ruled it effectively was in Mexico phone for decades. And he tried to break that he ran for president. And sent me back to my mother, which is just what I wanted. I wanted to go back to my mother. And so I arrived in Antigua and waiting for me at on the pier was. "I when I arrived in Dominika. Dominika incidentally is named because Christopher Columbus discovered it on a Sunday. So it's named Dominika. He had by that time run out of names. He liked better. In any case when I got to this island. It was very strange. My mother had told me about her growing up, you know, various things, but I thought that the only these things only happen to my mother the. Carrying a sneak on knowing lied to her on her head for many miles. This sort of thing would only happen to my mother or her description of fish that flew in out of the water. This would only happen to her. But it turns out that Dominika was just as she described it, and which is why she fled from it it rained. It rained all the time. The beaches had no sand. They had little black pebbles because the island is volcanic formed from an old volcano. And the skies were not gray. There was water everywhere. Whereas anti-gun as you well know because you've been there on your holiday, it never rains. It has beautiful beaches a bluesy and an especially blue sky. And so Dominico was the opposite of this place that I had just been banished from. And worst. My aunt wasn't there to meet me on on the on the jetty somehow I was taken to her house. And we're my grandparents also lived in mar who Dominika, and there I met my aunt who was the complete opposite of my mother for one thing she had read here and great is. And that's when I first came to realize that by mother was something called a Richardson, the have that Mark red hair and gray eyes. And also, my aunt seemed incredibly cost me.
