Remember When? 2020

"Is interesting for me again keeping the remember when like personal. This is where we spend a lotta time. We're we no longer see it as player in the flesh for the rest of the year. Either of us since where it becomes it's very divergent path right that from here on where like a one hand like. I'm not leaving home. Match like we have like a night of looking like may fifth rewatch korean baseball together and adopt the nc diagnose diagnose in the how camps dyno's jeff passan his pinkerton behind him and stuff like that. So we're on our own and you know doing our own. Things have watching not only connect. Whatever we're doing to keep ourselves sane afloat and tennis players meanwhile are like having these very different ways of coping. Go various out most of them. We don't hear from at all right muslim. Just go off grid. I will say that that's absolutely true. Most of them have just shut off so the ones we hear from early the outliers right but also larger the more prominent in late april or even it was late. March was already in march. Like it's poss- put up this flog of himself alone. His monica apartment. Where in this yellow raincoat is like stream of consciousness thing where he's like losing his mind like he doesn't know how to function he's also like not with his family that's sort of like argument or something in their various flares that we saw earlier in the year with mentioned that. Adp cup saying like his mother like you know the him at a press conference basically so he's on his own journey there and like some the first things we see some of them are really positive like we see like venus williams during this year's one of like sort of a low key like warning actors like bit role but like remember remember when venus williams got greek or damaged optic flasher. Exactly what i was gonna say. What a queen. Venus harass gregoire showing ads dramatically colossus the ground in performance ecstasy and. It's just a lovely moment of venus is like having a really you know again. I felt bad about similar to the fire. Donation topic like rating people on. How they're handling this thing. But like venus is somebody who like really like seemed to be like at peace like really opening up being way more talkative than she had all year like. There's one of the things. I found him looking. This is skipping ahead like lexington. She does like after she beat via. First round gives this unbelievably a few sive. Chatty postmatch interview. It's just been so mike which is like for the last several years in terms of what she's like in not being very revealing a reticent to share too much open up too much has been very different venus so we have that now the other hand we have things emerging like you know. Say this the novak djokovic stuff where i quietly. He's talking about or on a certain serbian channel. He says things that are if not definition of what we consider antitax at least vaccine. Skeptical in vaccine. Chilling say. I don't know exactly what to put in. Then he touching these instagram wives which you know venus is doing flirted with record time of the people in and and and if only judge just flirted with dmitrov harmless he could've done it was right therefore with an option. This is the college novak where instead he by early he was doing his a few instagram's With turbine jafaria wellness grew guy to joke. Which is somewhat credit. I don't know exactly what happened here. They stopped by mid mayton one more. After basically i people started started combat. For what ridiculous nonsense being spewed in them so we just all tennis players like what a tennis player was tennis star celebrity without the thing that makes them why we care which is tennis. Excellent right and we're left with these pictures of people who stop paying their coaches right away was a big theme like all these top top players stop paying their. That was a really big. That was a really bad really was mentioned a few times and it really explain like because you you learned about it and yes no. I know. I was really struck by how within days. What was it like before the week of in usama. How fast set move your mortgage. That players immediately. Cut off the payment to their coaches who they are the sole employers of in there not not almost all like Every coach was estimated was more than ninety percent of coaches. Weren't getting paid at this point. It was it was. That's fine but i'm just saying when you say that oil like ebay. But but you'd only coaches were not getting paid and it just sort of like selfishness of tennis players end. We see tennis players as being very focused in very driven motivated and in this pandemic must have a crisis a lot of times that revealed that turned into self centeredness self-focused self-centeredness turn to selfishness. Turn to lack of care for other people right and to me. I saw this sort of across the board cutting off of the payroll department of their personal tennis. Teams their coaches who are people who invest their whole careers in helping you do well. The second you stop getting you missed one check. They get cut off and a lot of these players. Have making lots of money. Didn't have to bisley anyway. It me the wrong way seeing these these athletes granted. They're not in a fixed salary. They were not getting guaranteed income but for them to immediately cutting people's pay very quickly and even like occasionally federation like tennis. Australia started for furlough employees very fast and that bothered me a lot too because they had a full twenty twenty australian open and they had a folk coffers and they i think by i dunno april or so. They're already furloughing employees. I thought that was crazy. And they're going to be painful full prize money in if they go it in whatever a lot of the mountain workout and just a lot of a lot of. I was getting various enchanted with tennis and tennis players tennis players because there was no tennis but tennis players were not impressed. Me overall with their conduct. Yes you had venus doing

Can Tennis Stars Be Trusted to Act Responsibly? (With Reem Abulleil)

"Welcome to no challenges remaining Ben Rothenberg delighted to be joined yet again during this corona virus hiatus from the tour by NPR's middle. East correspondent remodel rim. Thanks for being back on the show once again. Thanks for having me I like this. We're spending a lotta time together. It's honestly I been one of the Nice things about life in core is like spending a lot. We're like a lot more time with friends. I think overall to add at the time, and it's time spent like talking. Even seeing if you count Zuma's seeing friends and you know even those no in person contact and I miss that miss all the normal things like there have been. That side of it's been been nice. I will say yeah, same here. Tennis was affected as last show we did which are also on when we did a show a student to. All about for breaking news reaction to Ingrain Dmitrov tested positive for the coronavirus after playing the Adria tour, and that was believed ten days ago from recording. That was on a Sunday that next Monday, we found out that other players born storage fit your choice gate also tested positive day after that we found out that Novak Djokovic she would spearhead the tour. It was his baby. He was the face of it. He had also tested positive along with his wife. Elaina and then a few days after that Gorny Beneath Mitch, who was the director of the Dr leg of the tour in Croatia, the second stop out of what I think was going to be five originally on the tour. Had also tested positive after previously testing negative twice in his first two tests, so let's start there. be the epilogue to our last episode. What did your reaction to Adria tour change at all? Between the trump positive tests which I think we knew could be the first of many and seeing these other big players in including world number-one Djokovic also test positive, and I will before authority also. We have no idea how many other people stand staff organizers media. Media, Whoever hotel workers, whoever at the around the Asia tour also tested positive? So what are your thoughts for the further fall out of I think as soon as I heard about born Torridge, which was the second that we found out about an we also heard about Gregoire's coach. Novak's physio. Those were like the first four I figured. It's not surprising if almost. Almost everybody else got it because there was just so much close contact between them. The whole time they play doubles together. They party together. They did so like it's. It's not surprising so by the time. Yeah, like after after the second wave of tests, I felt like I expected the pretty much everyone positive so actually I was more surprised at the negatives tests. Tests than the alternative ones, but I think the the biggest thing that stands out obviously for me. In terms of the different thing is that Goran tested negative twice and then tested positive, so that kind of gave us more Obviously, we know that that can happen, but the fact that everyone who was kind of defending the tour. Everyone who is getting? Everyone. Who thinks that oh? If I'm negative? I can go play another tournament. Someone like another term all that stuff that kind of with Goran testing positive. I guess it was A. Kind of a cautionary tale for everybody else guys happened with Goran I think I think it is a really useful real world example honestly. We know about this incubation timely theoretically, but hearing someone like around been a little bit stride into the beginning. He was the one who is announcing it on court. Instead Darwin the tournament was stopping there or when the event was stopping in Chicago. Tournament when the event was. Stop there, saying Hey, don't blame me, I. Don't have coronavirus. It's not you know I didn't do it. Essentially it was. Sort of said somewhat ingest on court at when he was sentenced. Georgia Jovovich, that's the cancellation and see him. Yeah, that's positive. Eventually the show like yes, we know intellectually seeing a real world. Example of someone had not delayed time. Yeah, it does does make realize. Hey, you really. That's why we're doing. The fourteen days stay inside where people are doing that. When they possibly exposed or other things to make sure they don't have it incubating and yeah. THAT GETS TO DONALD team a start with him. I think there's. Say That team. The team comes up from. Adria tour and goes to play the UPS. Just the ultimate showdown event held the more Academy in France. And he gets tested upon arriving. There tested multiple times there from what he was saying in. He makes a joke that he's the interviews. The his most negative guy on tour which some people thought was in poor taste. Honestly have demonstra problem with understood it. If you've been had blood drawn six times in a week if you're allowed to make a joke about it. It, but at the same time I don't know. He's playing and I wish he was not playing. I. Just don't think it's worth the risk for having candidate playing tennis. If I was holding tennis admit that had previously booked dominic team I would say sorry, but we're gonNA. Cancel your appearance of the tournament. We don't want anyone who's been clearly exposed to the. gorgias stick corona virus cauldron. That was Adria tour to come here I. think that just negative within the window is not enough to show that you're not possibly caring and or contagious we we've done that now. Seeing team, go from the the ups to pull out of that to go to various other events and he. He's scheduled to play Austria an accident going to go play in Germany after that I. it just seems like he's just trying his. He's really working overtime. Trying to be patient zero as possible.

Novak Djokovic and the Adria Tour Antics

"Everyone John Wartime here is this week's sports illustrated tennis podcast hope everyone is well healthy wearing a mask not at a Belgrade disco topless, which I suppose is where we ought to start Jamie I'm glad you're you're with me today. How's everything in your world? It is good I. AM also not in a Belgrade club dancing around in close quarters. Shouting. Indoors So, that's a win I. You know I had wanted to do A. Normal podcast. We're going to talk to Donald Dell longtime agent. He had some very interesting thoughts about how to merge the ATP and the WPA we were GonNA talk about. The plan for the US Open and tennis getting back in there some events this week. We were talking about the Patrick. marauded lose event, and the Charleston ended in of course everything blew up metaphorically and I. Guess You could say in a sense literally with news from from the Balkans this weekend which we probably timestamped us, we are speaking on. What is today Wednesday morning the right as cracked. So we are seventy two hours into this Kindly, call it a narrative I spoken a lot about this. I've written about this I will say before we can talk. Specifics I'm very surprised at the stem, and this is really world news. I mean I was getting calls. From Aljazeera the BBC and then I just Mary. Carillo is on MSNBC Today. Mean is really become much more than tennis story. For better worse I would argue worse, but this really has been. The kind of story had ripples beyond the the sport and beyond sports period I think a lot of people are. Sort of trying to figure out how we eat back to normal I think we're trying to see I think we're starting to see some real. Sort of disparities in countries, and even here in the United States with how this is not only being managed, and not only with the data says, but just in terms of philosophy, so I think this is the story of really found its way into into a much broader story, and this has become absolutely world news. I mean this is as big as a ten stories we've had since there's been a match and I guess what why don't we just start there? I, mean Jamie. Let's start with. Top Line Impressions of the Adria Tour Novak Djokovic in the last seventy two hours. Yeah you're right to say that tennis exhibitions don't normally get this much press. I think it's always a funny thing with antennas. When people you know who aren't as familiar with the sport, they see results from from an Axa, whether it's early in the year late in the year, and you know somebody, beat, someone, and most people just sort of shrug it off, but it's as you said really interesting to see how much this has really gone across the world. World and everyone is talking about it and rightfully, so because this is a big issue in I think it was from the Gecko, when we started to see the photos and the videos of everything that was happening between the hugging and everything that was happening on the court, and then of course everything that was happening all off the court. All of those images in those photos are really going to be the mark of this event of this tournament. And jovovich whether or not he deserves all of the blame or not will also be the face of this issue for a long time coming he is the organizer of this event of course, and also the oldest in terms of the players that was there and for me. That was something that you know. He really needed to use his his advantage, and the the younger players thereof and born Cora and others even Dmitrov for what it's worth. You know are are younger than him. They look up to him and for him to invite these players to come to this tournament in for him to organize this in the way that he did end to have the results that we had is just It's not great, and I wish that the best tennis player you know the number one in the world right now had thought a little bit more about how he was exposing all these people. It's unsafe conditions and took a little bit more time to think about how what the results and the repercussions of this could have been. Yeah I mean I think no-one covered themselves in glory. I mean there's already been a lot of finger. Pointing joke of its father have having moved on from from fettered. Baby is now pointing fingers at Dmitrov as the culprit, I mean this is just ugly stuff I. Mean I think we ought to pause here in and say we do hope everyone makes. A speedy and easy recovery as as nick, curious I wrote. Nick curious turned into the the Wiseman of tennis Munich. curios thoughts on all of this have been. A lot more reasonable and responsible than anyone else's and the nick curious very rightly says this virus is not a joke, so. Go further. Let's be clear. We hope everybody makes a a quick recovery from virus that we know you know. Six figures over is can be fatal. having said all that I think I mean it's sort of interesting in the grand scheme of things, people who are casual fans or not even sports fans at all. This is hubris recklessness, and here's this athlete who somehow has been living in. Sick enough bubble so that he doesn't realize it. You can pass this on other people and hey. Viruses are really contagious and things like masks really work

"dmitrov" Discussed on The Hoop Collective

"Out somebody for two weeks is a is a virus I. Mean today, tennis Greg Org Dmitrov tested positive for corona virus and he was playing this Adria. That Novak Djokovic was having about a week ago. We saw joke, and there's video Jovic and some other players in a club having fun, and of course now one of them is test. Dmitrov sets a positive I. Don't know Dmitrov is in the club. He's certainly be around with this. Other plane was tournament in Serbia. This is in Europe and and so. I was talking to a friend of mine. WHO's his Ben? He's in these American He coaches. He coaches in in in China, but he's been bunker down in Belgrade. Because he's Serbian descent anyway. He has been studying the photos. They've been playing soccer matches in front of thirty thousand people in Serbia so. I mean I have one question to you guys, and maybe I'm opening a whole different can of worms, but this came up in my chat room with my fellow Tana's players about Dmitrov. Which is you know? One of the coronavirus can have is it can scar your lungs, and so we're wondering like what kind of lasting you might WANNA lasting effects. It might have Dmitrov 'cause. That could be devastating to a tennis player, but I'm wondering I started thinking today I'm like if a basketball player comes down corona virus, do general managers start looking at a player for future when they're looking at whether or not to spend millions of dollars in this guy is this. Hard of this is part of. The here's the thing. We know that there was a bunch of NBA players that tested positive. We don't know about I mean there were two members of the Lakers we still don't know who that was. The remember the nets now was identified and he said he had it. there, there's probably a whole you know. By the way team stopped announcing by the because at the time, it was seen as wait a minute. How'd you get those thirty five tests? so teams just went mum, but met that most teams got guys tested, and you can bet that there were we just had Mike Malone the coach of the nuggets. Come out and say that he had grown virus is You can trust their guys tested positive. That will never know about, but you I'll tell you. A lot of people have been pointing towards the deadline. That I believe is Wednesday which is players have to raise their hand and say hey I'm not going to Orlando We have guys like Dwight. Howard and Avery Bradley who have identified Doubts because of the black lives matter movement, but there's another. Deadline, there's another series another thing that's going on here and that's. A medical panel reviewing all these planets. There's Reviewing all these players, medical histories and saying. Hey if you're, too if you're at risk, we're going to tell you can't go. And the players can contest that and there's an appeal process now we look at all these NBA players, and we see guys in their twenties who are incredible condition, but they have pre existing conditions that we may not know about and that these doctors may look at that and say hey, look. we don't think you should go so like you know. I have no idea. This is all private medical history for all I know there's going to be no. Players that fall into this trap, but there very well could be, we're going to. Have surprises. There's going to be players who decide. They're not gonNA play, and they're going to surprise us, and they're gonNA. Be potentially reasons that don't surprise surprise, because by the way it's not just because you want to focus on the on the Social Change that we know a group of players is really focused on or that. You're worried about the corona virus. There guys out there who are who are going to be free agents? And they're going to get their lifetime contracts here and they don't WanNa. Come back in this situation and blow out their knee. Y. You know we've already heard. The players are looking for insurance measures from you know to be provided and You know there's going to be a dozens of different reasons. We're going to find out. in this next week I think we're GONNA see a bunch of different players Kirk, pop up as like they're not gonNa go, and you know free Dell's talking about a guy, test and sick. There could be other guys who are like no I'm not gonNA play. The for this reason that could potentially have people reevaluate things. Yeah, and and talking to our friends in the media Brian. How many of your friends want to go i? mean if it's a pretty intense. Ask just in general. We go to Orlando for X. number of weeks in quarantine in a hotel in a very uncertain situation, in a very uncertain time in the summer of Twenty Twenty and to your point, I think the guys most likely to be skittish about it or the guys coming up on inflection points in their contract, whether they're entering restricted or unrestricted free agency, or they're coming into an extension window. Why should I go risk this right now? I've already proven so much. For so long. Why am I going to go play in this environment? Get sick or get hurt and damage. My Chances you know I think the players association has. Done a pretty good job of speaking for the overall chorus of players, but everybody's earlier points. There are individuals who don't feel the same way. This is one of the most complicated summers of our lifetimes, and everybody's coming from very different positions. And some guys are not gonNA WANNA play period. And yet to your point, who's going to be as almost less important? What's going to happen when a players association? Here's that player? WHO'S NOT GONNA show up to a game? So Nick if you were going into the bubble, would you put on? The ring is to him because I suspect the media will be asked to do this because. I. Don't know that, but would you put on the ring? I WOULD WANNA, talk to my boss is I B I want to say. Do you all want me to wear this ring? They if if if Andrew said Yeah. We want you to wear the ring fight. Okay, I don't have. And you and you want to code to the APP. So says he could monitor it, he will. He will be doing elmwood. You wear the ring if you were in the bubble, would you? I would. I would I think the rings, a pretty cool thing, and if I'm in the bubble, I don't think I mind you. Know them tracking where I'm going to whatever 'cause if I did contract corona virus while in the bubble I would wanNA. Know slowing. So where do they come from? Thing is all these folks are GonNa also be wearing the Disney..

A Tennis Star Catches COVID-19

"Welcome the no challenges remaining. It is Sunday. June twenty first twenty, twenty I am Ben Rothenberg I was working on posting are editing an episode that I recorded a couple days ago with buddies and frequent guests, this show remobilize into all and Louisa Thomas also this episode for the beginning of it. round table talking about the open their plans etcetera etcetera. Then a couple less than an hour ago, there was a posted popped up. I think I dream and remained Toumani. Join me again hello. Hello. Irene was the first one is. If I saw a post, this poster came up on your instagram feed, and can you describe what you saw instagram? Basically posted a photo of himself with a mask, announcing that he is back in Monaco and tested positive for covid nineteen an he apologized for possibly endangering others so yeah, it was him basically disclosing that he has positive, and as we know agree, gorgeous got back from Croatia where he was playing in the Adria tour and a couple of days before that he was playing in Belgrade as well, so he's playing Novak store, and yeah, and we mentioned that obviously on the podcast we recorded two days ago. I it it should be noted that we've seen many patriots of Griego over the past couple of weeks. But that's the first pitcher. We've seen what I'm wearing a mosque. Stu Point to money no I think. Yeah, so this is sort of tenses. Thing hopefully it get to a Rudy Gobert moment in tennis where Gregoire realized I have nothing fallen close attention, paying close attention to the Adria tour, but grew on court yesterday a Saturday in Croatia playing a match inside our Croatia as part of this Adria series traveling around the Balkans he was in. Serbia and we talked about this. A bunch on the show and I think I will probably still. Post the show recorded before, but I feel like this will change the tenor of its I want to post these. Get this one up I throw show that we are connected to reality more than maybe the other episode from two days ago because I think as Louisa, early people say on the show like. In these times a lock change short period of time, this is obviously a big moment for tennis. One that I think it's fair to say that we all feared was very possible with looking at Adria series, which is exhibition event sort of started by Novak Djokovic determined director. Quote Unquote was Georgia Djokovic of ex brother. It was being held in Belgrade and a few other planned stops around the Balkans They just actually after the news of Dmitrov positive test. They just can't sold the final match of today's session in. Montenegro which was supposed to host next weekend had already said thanks, but no thanks to Adria tour canceled their leg of the event. We sort of imagined Asia tour, which was an event. Whichever one you twenty? How about you described? He described what what we saw because he posted a bunch of photos. From recent days what Adrian Tour Bend like the got people concerned something this. Business was sending. The optics are not good. Let's put it charitably that way. Yes essentially what we've seen is What is a very regular event in very abnormal times you know? Whether it's you look on twitter on on streams on on Youtube big crowds in the stadium at Novak's Club scene players. And hands and invading each other's personal space and Interacting with fans you've seen videos of. Them are on the out in a club stripping together. and. Will these images that would be normal in normal times, but these aren't normal times, and it makes you cringe a bit. And so there there there's been tons of criticism and. Of course. Rich kind of. Received a lot of criticism for an we actually spoke. To US ball. And he said kind of that. He's aware of the criticism from the West. But you know what while things may be bad in the UK or the, us, it's not. It's not the same in Serbia. And, yeah, and for that reason you know people have been kind of reacting to that and reacting badly, and that's kind of where we. Can I add? They also had a kids day. That had a lot of kids. We've seen the photo of that as well and they've had a football match, and they've had a basketball match in Croatia. They went to a concert with Donovan John August the new version others the other day, and the thing is you have players who came from countries. Who aren't Serbia and Croatia in that? You have you have players someone like Gregoire? Who flew from the states, then winces Bulgaria, possibly also to Monaco. You also have such as Vera. Vera who's traveling from different places Sasha's also saddlebrook for quite a big portion of the quarantine time you have people traveling from different places, and they got off the plane, and you see the video of them getting off the plane and immediately hugging Novak, and immediately being welcomed people into walking around the no masks I don't understand how you can get a flight and already know that that person that person didn't have time to get tested, so that already was

Sebastian Durrand - Advice for Players to stay fit during the lockdown with world renowned strength and conditioning coach Seb Durrand

"Hello Sebastian. Welcome to the functional tennis podcast. Thank you happy to share Great Avalon and Journeys Tough Times. Where tennis players tennis trainers tennis coaches and a lot of other people are still at home and can't get out and can't train so looking forward to hearing some advice from you so first of all. How are you getting on? What Day is this for you? It's actually the day number and for us fan home and We try we're GONNA talk. I think it'd be layer but we try to manage between the between our work our job and the the kids in the sport of the kids and they're all more of the kids and so it's kind of a different organization in different schedule every day but we always need to find a solution. Find a way to do it. So yeah if a bit of a routine at the moment so the first thing. I wanted to do and you wanted to do with. My wife was assured to create structure and routine because Fischetti for the kids when they don at school begins leave. They can wake up and do the Descru- anytime so we keep on putting the clock for sure. Every morning we wake up and then we all know more like at nine. We started more thirty nine. We stopped homework. You know so we. We keep routines this even. If it's a bit more we are just a little bit more for sure that we put routine every day. The do some some spoilt. We tried to go outside a little bit to move. Yeah we try to really create Routines like this. We share more time with them if if we can for sure but definitively the fact two creeks tributaries There's no rolling become a bit of a mess inside the house. I think it's important especially if if it's one week it's okay like only days or two weeks but for the moment now we are ten day was gonna be full five six weeks so and we don't know so. How many days does it take you to discover you needed to retain yes? She's they want. We said we need to keep the structure that that's growing born on. We not to to strike structure would say but it's not because you are not me new late at the. It's not like when you go to school for sure but still too great routine. It's super important. Yeah for sure. And we take the sun when the sun is out we tried to descend for sure. So yeah it's kind of different kind of ribbon but we still receive tried to put structure every day. That's important yeah. That's really interesting. Only yesterday. They there were a few days behind you a good few days but only yesterday discovered myself that I sort of found my routine. I just I didn't want to write down and say this would have to do. I just have to find it. A bit. Natural. On yesterday was yeah. I stay where I felt a bit more. Okay well like it open to more than I do a bit. A worked and our baby gets up. We all get breakfast together. Then I do some exercise and then do bit more work than we go for. Walks does a bit. It took a few days for me to find a national retain which I think I have. Now which is great but yeah so some people are different crates that you knew straight away. Look we need routine here especially the kids are a bit older full of energy and e and this and and even in the week we tried to keep the we try to keep the weeks as they normally have for example. The weekend we try to get their homework because the weekend they don't work so said we tried even in the week two because if not you don't noise it's Monday or Tuesday or Sunday or your little bit. Less old days are the same so we tried to the same like today's like school We keep on working and then when he's the weekend it's bit more fund. I mean we try to make it a bit more fun. Actually for the moment we had to leave only one weekend. So is this the beginning? But because I think it's important to create the structure to because we really have to think on term process and it's good the first week you know it's nice. We'll do this with that then. Let's see in four five weeks. That's a different storm and I think it's important not to create boring routines. But in the same times to create structure I would say Craig's born really good electing a bit of exercise yourself like some Ronin. How I know it's Day ten. How have you done any exercise? Have you dealt with it? Yeah Yeah I have the chance to have a trainer at home so I can bike. That's good end in the sometimes. We allowed to go outside no more than one hour but I can still go and little bit but my main goal at the moment is not really trying to improve on anything is just to keep heads and keeping shape. I would say but I know I'm not gonNA try to be like overtrained during those moment is. Just keep the shake. That's my it for me. That's nine Mongolia. Yeah I think that's a mango for a lot of people just trying to maintain where they're not to gain weight not to gain like what about. We did have some food tips on functional tennis during the week for me. The tree food tips were worn. Was you're using less energy? So eat less. Make your mail. Smaller have one less mail to was a high junk food. Buy less junk food so just put them in places where you don't normally look on tree was have a could off time at nighttime we stop beating because a lot of people eat junk food late at night on if you say okay after seven thirty. We don't eat so do you have any tips. Who What would be your one main. Eaten tip that you could tell us the ad because I mean I for sure I still Tommy steps. I do a day and the day that I don't do too much around five thousand steps a day and when I do I go to ten twelve thirteen thousand steps which is not a lot more like fifteen to twenty thousand steps. When a big. When I moving my day you know normal day so for sure. Our consumption analogy is is divided nearly by to every day. So it's kind of meeks for me. The nutrition of finding a balance between for sure not gaining weight and nuts. Having the junk food for sure but in a send times. Winnie the human sustained to be strong too so five to go on. Diet for me would be a mistake because we need to have the human system at the top so for sure to keep the freight veges fruits. It's really something important. Keep a little bit the carbs. I mean again. The structuring the Lille having like a breakfast person abby like breakfast lunch snack dinner for sure to make everything a little bit lighter than no more. Bettina sometimes to have like a certain amount of food and energy because we need to knock to store but we need to have the human system important that the bottle I think. The fruits and vegetables are important. Keep the immune system and the three important. Maybe we just need to buy smaller plates. Yeah for sure this this The food is really like nuts because we all need to disclose to all the time so it's really not to have that kind of reflects or go at grab it. Is things things. So that's important just to keep the structure again. That's super important for me to structure structure structure. Okay well enough about Kobe. Nineteen at the moment. Tell me your physical trainer to some great tennis players. Dmitrov worked with other players which I find out about. How did you get into personal training before that? Did you play tennis as a kid? Yeah Oh yeah. I stopped playing tennis in four years old. My parents. I think I felt a little bit like everybody. Mike Burns Blake any similar date and while they were playing a good board. They'll beat on side so they give me one record just this racket here is a woolen. Do whatever you want for one up. And then I found the world and my world became my best friend so I start hitting balls. I was four or five. And then you know after the classics things than you stop laying and in their new up some of the coaches and then after you stop putting some notchers when you're sending eight nine years old and you're into it you love the competition and the Barents Heads to bring you to tournaments to practice. "A a lot of goodness solid all right. Well you know what this is not real estate real estate podcast so we should probably cram a little bit of sports discussion in here. Let's do it a couple of the thing. I'm a miffed about right now. Is that as we speak. It is wednesday september fourth so we're getting ready as canadian in sports fans to watch bianca andrea tonight in the quarter-finals at the u._s. Open a miss the whole thing and then i'm getting together with my torn down a <hes> pals at t._s._n. Twelve hundred four fantasy football tonight so i'm gonna miss it all unfortunately but i've already committed this thing but <hes> you are. You gonna sit down and watch that tonight. Absolutely absolutely i am huge. This is a big sports story man. This is like hockey big. Yeah i'm half. I'm all what's what time seven o'clock easter seven thirty eastern yeah. I'm all about it so don't bother me steve. Don't be calling me with all these requests that you make of me the all day long to do shit meanwhile roger federer is no longer at the u._s. Open <hes> he was a loser to gregor dmitrov and he ended up taking a two sets to one lead but <hes> then he started a i mean martina navratilova martina navratilova was saying that the forehand or hand looked all messed up even before this but then he ran into back problems and <hes> so he had to take a rare medical timeout after hurting his back <hes> during the fifth set and just wasn't there so body starting to fall apart again at age thirty eight for roger federer and i think it's a fair question to ask and now that his body starting to break down again. We've seen roger federer when his last grand slam well. I told yesterday's my favorite athlete. What am i all time. Favorite is great. He's unbelievable the level he's played at blah blah blah on and on and on with with record amount of wins and all that stuff <music> but unfortunately for those guys steve in there who are who've played at a really high level for a long time these poor pricks now the only interviews that seemed to happen or is this your is this your way out roger. Is this an indication. That might be time to bow out. You know just like give them about a six month. Absence before you start asking them the questions it's okay for us yahoos to talk about it on a podcast but if you're asking them directly after he's just at a back problem and and just dealing with it after a loss that seems like an inappropriate piece of timing to me sorry immunity for a second yourself. I'm gonna call he just so good. You know so good and yet now so he loses. He loses one match. Not just just not just any match here. See if the quarterfinals of the u._s. Open okay so it's a big. He's gone pretty deep again. You know so he's an exceptional guy and now wow that's going to be happening is age starting to show through roger and all that sort of must be hard on the guy. You know to do that but i think dmitrov is a good chance of winning. This whole the thing too by the way is he's <hes> he didn't. He's not a bad player himself he would be. I think one of those guys that would be in the discussion for greatest player player to have never won a major yet. Yes his ninth appearance at the u._s._o. I'll tell you what steve you take him. I'll bet you any amount of money. I'll take the doll yeah forgot about him didn't you. Maybe a little maybe a little but he okay fine. I i like the way dmitrov place. I'll take dmitrov sure you're you're down about forty or sixty quid to me by the way incorrect and other bets yeah every time i win something. It never gets brought up again. No no no. I've been keeping track. I tell you what your anyway and andre ask you tonight. Maybe watcher go watcher go..

"Really? I mean with this many picks the play with and knowing that you have failed repeatedly to land impact pass rusher. I could see them moving up or you know, knowing just how much they need to bolster that defensive line for a guy like all of her. I think that he could. So yeah, I will not be surprised that a secrets worth pointing out that it least since Dan Quinn has been head coach. The falcons seem to be hitting a lot more in the middle rounds with their pick. So obviously a guy like Grady Jarrett Demonte cosc-. You know, these guys who are high quality starters. Not just starters about. High quality starters that they found on day to day three of the NFL draft. So there's probably some level of confidence within the team that even if they give up a second round there to move up that they have a better shot under this regime of making good picks with their third fourth fifth sixth round picks than they have in the past. And there is some there is some recent history that suggests that yes, they actually have done a fairly good job. Especially compared to the failure rate in those rounds of finding some really good starters. Really good players in those light rounds. So that I would have to imagine is gonna factor into the decision somewhat. So Dave one last question before we wrap up this week's podcast in talking about the draft because we hear it it seems like almost every single year. And I'm sure you have heard it since two thousand eight at minimum since Demetre has been here in Atlanta. And that is in the circumstance like the one that you ended up with in this mock draft where fourteen allotted the best defensive players were off the board. A lot of fans would be crying out to trade back trade back pick up more picks. Try to pick up some additional second or third rounders moved back four or five spots, whatever. And yet in his history with the falcons Dmitrov is never wants moved back in the first round. Do you think that he would consider doing it this year? During that up, but about great analysis days really to the point of cuts chase. I known for migrate analysis is not backed by on me later. But you know, this year have so many picks, you know, for Dmitrov throughout his career for better for worse. You know? Honestly this year, if he trades up like I said, I'm totally onboard with no second guessing here. But he'd rather move up and get player that they want. He has done so repeatedly than say, oh the players. I want are not here. I'd better pick up additional value. That's this doesn't feel like the mid problem play. If by moving back in then packaging, some stuff he could then move back up maybe, but that feels unnecessarily looted. I think the only way that he would read down is in the later rounds if he's kind of wiped out some of his war chest picks here by moving up in the first place. We could see something similar the year that pack where you know, they trade down to pick up some additional selection late, but where they're starting with nine. I don't feel like that super likely. So, you know, again, no. One last question. I'm gonna let you close us out with this one because I've seen this come up a lot this year in the falcons, you know, having the fourteenth pick. I saw many fans saying the falcons had a way to get into the top ten and that was by losing their last few games. And I know you, and I have talked about this. I think we agree on this. So do you want to dress the idea than NFL team with intentionally lose to pick up draft capital in the following year? Straffed? Yeah. I think that it's bad. I I think that professional sports team should take like everybody is making a ton of money to play a game for the fans..

"This is a few days that they need to fix their trust me the way this all season started under Dan Quinn. Thomas dmitrov? They've already started clearing out house in an looking to add more talented teams not that far away. Folks. Trust me, the falcons will win the division this year. Aaron you privilege of closing out this crossfire podcast with your thirty second or bubbler. Make your case go the Carolina mentioned it earlier question there sort of a one dimensional run for often. But guess what you look at their schedule. They're playing AFC south or played in the NFC west as well as Washington Green Bay. They're not really facing a whole lot of teams that are really built to make fourth in the play from behind. You got like Houston got like Seattle. You got the Rams you got the colts. Maybe and the teams in the division and the rest of their schedule sort of tailor made for their style of foot is run the football play good defense, and they're going to rack up a lot of winds outside this division opinion. In potentially help them win the division. Right. And there it is six up six down and the south focused addition of the crossfire podcasts. One last time folks, go to the falcon Hollick dot com. Cast your votes for your winter. And we will see we will we will course, nounce it on the site. You can pay attention to the earlier. And through Twitter as Erin said, I do want to make this point for for those who are unaware our combatants do have to trade back and forth. The the side that they're going to take on the question. So do not make sumptious Aaron would. Would we have the options to paints the questions if me like an errand chose not to change the last question? He stuck with the Panthers. This is going stone that well, you know, we if we if we're going to go full Hanjour here at the end of the show. I didn't choose the sayings in any question. Every thing for the pass question. I got he messaged me and said I got I gives on this question on picking rings. So let that Ramon people argue I refuse the pick the states to the wind division. Okay. I want I want. I love it. No, one did not choose the saints one time, Eric. Better offense. That. Dressed it upon me. So I had to make my argument, and look I was fighting with my hand behind my back guys. Job. So remember that when you're voting on faculty, this this folks is what crossfire is absolutely about the passion is this is everything I hoped it would be actually Erin, you're fantastic. Eric is always fantastic job. I love this in you guys really brought it home. So Erica start with you. Tell our listeners where they can find you what you've got going on. You can finally on Twitter on the score. Eric underscore Robinson on a lookout. I have a forgotten falcons column that will be coming out soon on Tim the white as well as getting ready for the NFL come starts next week. So once that kicks off definitely you will definitely see some more scouting reports from me, some maybe a couple more drafts here near will be often. It just take out a site as old man some great concept of. Yep. Absolutely Erin, tell our listeners where they could find. What you've got going on, sir. I'm on Twitter

"Well to over the course of his career, we saw dips. Yeah. Definitely with shannahan an will Sark. And so I think that it would make it easier. When cutter came in initially, he adapted his play calls and everything to work with too. So that it was easier for the offense to grasp as in. So I think that you know, lessening that learning curve and lessening the chance that we'll have another lost season in what may be. The last couple of years of Ryan's prime and also Julio's. And so I think that you know, if you limit those chances you are putting the team at a better position to succeed. And so I would be fine with cutter. But you know, if we're just going to bring back old guys. Let's bring back Brett farve. Like what why stop there? Why south of Milwaukee and cutter, you know, let's open it up. Joey toggle come on back. Yeah. Let's do it just bring everybody back and so bring book to read gun offense from the the nineties. Yeah. That's terrifying. So. And we I suspect we will find out about the offensive coordinator. Sometime, February ado think the falcons would prefer to hire someone soon. But at the same time, I think they are content to wait in find the right guy in the make sure they get someone that's a cultural fit someone's going to work well with this offense in to one of the points that Dan Quinn made in the press conference this week someone is going to run essentially the same offensive scheme that they have been running which is was good news. So on that note, I want to you know, to close out the podcast talk about some of the highlights that came out of the press conference that Thomas Dmitrov and Dan Quinn had on Thursday to update the fans in the medium. What was going on with the team in Dave? I wanna talk with you first on this decided the genome mentioned earlier with Dan Quinn, running the defense in two thousand nineteen he has decided in. Guess he and the rest of the organization has decided that they will have a coach a separate coach that handles or helps with the game day management. So timeouts situational play calling that type of stuff they did confirm that something they're going to look at is going to be a change for two thousand nineteen. Dan, Quinn will no longer manage that aspect of the game. Whether your thoughts on that we we wrote about this this week. That's actually one of the things I wrote about this week was the need for the falcons to really find someone to come in and fill that role. Instead of Dan Quinn Technet on. I think it's a good move especially with in in the pretext for it makes a lot of sense to of Quinn's can be focused on calling the defense. You know, his mind's going to be less on what's going on, you know, on each individual moment as a head coach. So having somebody there who it's their job to say, this is or isn't a good situation in which to use the time, this is or isn't the right time to punt. What are you doing? I think is really helpful. And I think it's it's a move that a lot of people feel is overdue. I think the Quin tends to be sort of with the pack with his in game decisions. Because I think a lot of NFL coaches are very bad at that. But as miscues have been pretty significant. So I think it's a bit of self awareness of Bidin excessively. But as long as you hire the right guy for that..

"Can't Chris Williams it. So a ton of Sam Baker was that year. So it just there was so many office of lemon drafted in their fates were so scattershot. That is really remember that well, and the other part, I remember speaking of San Baker that was the year that really transformed the falcons. If you consider the men now is the season that Thomas Dmitrov got their Matt Ryan is drafted. Now we talk all the time about that dolphins team and how much they rebounded after the one in fifteen season. But the, oh seven, falcons were a disaster just an absolute disaster. And they bring into metro, you draft Matt Ryan, and it changes the entire fate of the franchise. I don't know what you mean about the o-7 falcons banded Aster. They just got abandoned by their coach, random in the middle of the night, and they're starting quarterback, went to prison. Seems like not a great year. The worst season like the most everything goes wrong season for an NFL team in our lifetime. You think. I think that those two on the on, I mean, the oth seven oftens were right there and without the jail time. I think the jail time is a pretty jail time as a key part of it. But the the dolphins into the season of two thousand seven also got abandoned by their coach for college. They hired Cam Cameron, who is a bottom, five anthology coach in my lifetime. Just the worst. Just the ads and the fact that he got multiple shots as offensive coordinator after that. Just baffled some, I remember one of my colleagues when I when I was working down there when I was in college, it's the came. Cameron was the only person in the world who had who had a mixture of an every man like I'm on every man and also had a smartest guy in the room complex and it collided it collided in a way which is so awkward and unbelievable, or he'd come up and be like, I'm dislike you guys, but also I am so much smarter than you and he really wasn't so many so route. So I won't start a story about how he before season took. This is not in the wildcard point is is completely separate. The, he took his as some of position coach. It's in a room and drew a huge circle and in a will dot and said, see this huge circle. That's what I know about football. See this little dot here. That's what you know about football. That's a really good way to kind of nurture your staff. I'm not sure that's ever been written. I heard that from from a guy who is in the room. I probably just wasted good anecdote. Yeah, we do here on the puzzle was I going to do with that?.

"Learn Shaughnessy check our number one hour, number two so that we spent a lot of time. On yesterday And the situation got, rectified pretty quickly ties and that is that Julio Jones Will be there at the start of training, care for the Atlanta. Falcons as I believe it, was announced seven, hours ago, right around midnight time Thomas Dmitrov made the announcement the general manager, the Atlanta Falcons that Julio Jones will be there at the start a camp and you know you and I talked about, this at length, yesterday and if anybody, wants to catch up to that conversation Muslims had yes if you missed, it just download the podcast that drops every. Day at the radio dot com or I tunes Taza Mussa's free every day she. Can catch up to stop maybe and Mike. UB labels? Everything. The right way so it's broken up at, the three segments three hours yeah Three out boom boom boom anyway so yeah, the the the Julio Jones thing yeah man. I mean we talked about this at this you gotta pay you gotta make sure. He's happy and you know you made a, great point? Yesterday About you know listen you came to terms and you you got paid your guarantee, and I'm like you're. Right I get that part you don't want to, renege on the deal and that's CONNER would have felt like but I think we both agreed, that, Julio, had. Leverage and, he has to utilizes leverage any. Did, and. It worked, quick so and I think if. You're a falcons fan you're super happy and stoked. The way the, metro and and company handled us I think you I don't even know what he got I mean all know What he. I. Mean Dmitrov said it doesn't impact any of the extensions. They're working on now Jones was due to make ten point five million dollars the only thing Dmitrov said is, that we've had consistent negotiations and conversations between Julio his represented representation in us and we have. All agreed that we will come back to the situation. In two thousand nineteen. I don't even. Know if the falcons gave them any I think they did I read somewhere I can't, find where I read it. Earlier this morning that he didn't give a number. But he's getting more money so and then they even, put on social media they showed the putting his helmet. Julio's helmet, I saw Started camp but he is getting more money, I just don't know how. Much you don't know how much either song trying. To find out though but yeah I think. He is I don't think. He would've just on a good positive conversation if you Julio Jones just said okay I cave. You tell me we'll do business, and will continue talking great I'll be a camp I think he got. Something some kind of a more guaranteed money or something while we have this is Dmitrov in. The statement we have had continued. Dialogue all off season with Julio in his representation we've come to an agreement with Julio and we will. Read address everything in two thousand nineteen appreciate everyone's. Hardworking communication on this the adjustment does not, impede us from working on. Other extensions with other key members of our, football team we'll. Continue to work on those. Contracts going forward if it's a little. Bit of a. Nibble it's, not all that much I don't think they gave them three point five, million dollars maybe it's a million. Bucks maybe he's making eleven after this year I don't know maybe we'll I'm sure we'll find out. At at, some point in time What that adjustment is I don't think it's. Going to be a significant one, maybe they just put a band aid on this and Julio bit who. Knows I mean it sounds like that does you're right I just didn't see what the number. Was I'm curious to see what. That number the numbers out from what I think the numbers out there correct I I didn't see a. Number I just saw that he is getting he. Did get a bump that's why I guess, you show up you know. Because what was it now helped me with, this moves I. Think he was like out. Of receivers in the NFL was he. Was set to. Be make, he was like the eighth or seventh in ninth ninth Nathan Four The falcons and ninth highest paid wide. Receiver and, again it goes back to what we. Said, yes there is a tough, thing? Right you agree to this and you had a several year deal, yada, yada ten, point five million base salary But, you, know, you I'll play your I don't, see I, play contract but you have. Played the money yeah. You play your contract and you're so damn good. If you're Julio what are you going to say if you Julio Jones you say. Oh I I'm Ben get paid the, knife the knife highest paid wide receiver game. I need, more right but at the time they. Paid, them more time they can't, continue? To adjust numbers year in year out because I'll tell you this, if, a player, is a down year A team well that's a different story Speaking first year of say major contract extension is the team going? To, go, back and claw back money. No no they're not super good point it's got, a couple of eight thousand couple ways and I get that, players use their leverage and, Julio c I look at. This, situation the falcons want They did not have to redo his contract they. Whatever bump they gave, him it's not all that significant because Dmitrov said. It does not it does. Not impact in any way shape or form. The other contract negotiations that are. Ongoing right, now or our ability to address this team moving forward, so it can't, be all that. Significant of a bump so whatever it. Is the falcons got an. Impact player back in camp got rid of a distraction they're. Looking to have a bounce back year I'm sure Julio whatever he got in addition. TASR is money found whether it be a. Million million five hundred grand whatever it is he. Wasn't guaranteed that make that. Money. Now it's coming his, way so he's going, to look at it as positive as well but the, falcons don't have to deal with this nonsense is an organization moving forward they? Don't, have, to deal with the distraction. They don't have to deal with that story line, that's coming to an end yeah so whatever they did whatever, the fathers did they did. The right thing I. It sounds I mean Julio's happy otherwise you wouldn't be a. Camp so I guess they both got a one and you got to look at. The fan base they definitely one because the. Fans are gonna be stoked that Julia was going. To be a camp and. It's. Not going to be, some long drawn out, thing and author Arthur blank You know got it done the owner Darren and Dmitrov Dmitrov And and a head coach. What deals up to, didn't they just get revised to get they did a. Extensions, so so, that's kinda, funky right. During the same, time like you know When you I guess when you believe in the guys that didn't en- Dan. Queen and, Dmitrov fade signed two year, contract extensions to rears remaining. On their forty two on their. Deal so they are now signed for the Atlanta Falcons for the next four. Years, so yeah I think blank is a guy that is long as you keep your nose clean and do right by the organization when football game she's gonna take care of. You think Arthur blank is an owner down there Atlanta basically showing you that. Way, dresses Those like the red the red tie shirt he's almost like a like a superhero villain his. "I agree with that and then it's just a you know obviously they lost them flexibility with with matt ryan having to get his contract but yeah i you know i'm in the same boat as you on this i think they have to get it done and you know i think basically guarantee those first three years and and that that should do it it's easy again those easy i to sit here and say this thomas dmitrov has to think about fifty two other players contracts alternately and sometimes you have to think about your coaching staffs contracts because ownership has to pay for some of this bonus money and they have to the cash on hand me there there are a lot of factors we are touching on five to ten percent of the factors that thomas dmitrov gm in atlanta has to deal with so i say you pay them but you gotta figure out how still but money should not be enormous object who transcendent as well borderline transit he is he that he's in the ten to twelve players in the league who changes the makeup of his team when he's on the field andy i have to ask you the the fantasy question that i ask you every year why doesn't he catch touchdowns he has i'm just gonna i'm just gonna put this out there last four years red zone touchdowns julio jones has ten that's that is outside the top fifty that ties him fifty fourth east tied with the likes of danny amendola and richard rogers he's behind i mean he's buying anquan boldin who only played three seasons in that span and dante moncrieff my personal favorite player in the nfl as covered during agency yeah he just he doesn't get red zone touchdown it's it's it's fairly baffling and i guess outside of we talk about the.

"Hey hey they gave too much whatever but julio jones's dynamic player and of course he drafted matt ryan so i think thomas dmitrov has done a good job i think he's surrounded himself with a good scouting staff he's brought in some different is here you know scott peo lease his right hand man they're looking at players and everything they trust their coaches a lot to to to add to the mix and to break down those players and of course dan quinn knows the kind of toughness to kind of physicality the kind of demeanor that he wants in his player so he goes and tells thomas to meet you hey let's find these guys and they go out and find him so again i think dmitrov has done a good job if i played with marquand manual with them defense coordinator down there in denver we called him coats at the time when he was a player so what is it about him that is connected so well with this defense and he's talking about his future head coach very soon right oh yeah definitely i mean he's just real he keeps his so real i mean my car is a great dude he really is and you can tell that the players relate to them because he keeps it real you know he'll call out there and put his cleats on and he'll go out there and run against those guys in practice i mean that that tells you something when you're coaches were willing to go out there and get thirty with you that tells you a lot about him and i think it's just a mentality that he has he's got that intact mentality i watched him before pregame and he puts on his headset he's bobbing his head it's like he's getting ready for the game and i'm like wow look at this guy he's going to look like he's going out there to play so i think players really respect that i think you know him being a safety a bb i think those the back end they they really work with him you know like ricardo allen who's to safety i think he's really taking his game to the next level and has worked side by side with marquan because marquand played the game and play the high.
