This Is How the World Ended up with a Shortage of Semiconductors

"Show tracy long time ago now feels like we had the joke about. Should we just turn this into a semiconductor podcast. Yes and you've you've really run with that joke okay. The thing is is he can't escape it like we keep things like know we liked. I started talking about is like this is like an interesting topic for us but it turns out little. Did we know when we first started covering this story on the podcast which i was last october last november that actually it would blow up into this huge issue. Semi conductor manufacturing became like essentially. Nash topic of national news. Far outside the sort of like the niche audience right. Semiconductors secretly rule. All our lives. And i'm i'm joking. Obviously but nowadays everything is so high tech that there are a lot of appliances that you wouldn't necessarily think of that have chips in them So smartphones computers things like that obviously but also lots of cars And i saw one headline float by. I haven't had a chance to read it yet but something about aluminum producer's warning of downturn So chips are everywhere. And i think were really starting to realize how important they are and also how important chipmakers are of course as we've been discussing there's a limited number of Right so anyone who sort of listened to our series. We started talking about the decline of intel. We talked about why. Us manufacturing in general is sort of Gone away and we talked of course about the dominant role of taiwan semi. And it's like almost like again. It was not intentional. But now there's like this huge thing and everyone is waking up to how dependent we all are on taiwan semiconductor and a few other major Fabs and it's a it's become a legit. Us national security question. We know the biden administration is looking at it and you know looking at different ways to reduce us dependent so we really can't get away from the story and obviously we're going to be talking about it again today and i bet it won't even be the last time we talk about it. Thank you might be right on that one. So i'm really excited because actually we're going to be Going back to our very first guest to Gave us sort of great overview. Some of the best Clear english descriptions of the challenges of chip manufacturing and it was the first one everyone should go back. And listen to that one. Then talking about the decline of intel. But we're going to zoom out a little bit and look at the acute that the world is facing right now. Why are so many companies struggling with their ability to source chips and then the longer term issue of this is scarce capacity is scarce and even if we get through this current phase there is going to be still this sort of perhaps a dangerous over reliance on a few manufacturers that our capacity limited so a very excited. We're going to be speaking again. Second time on the show. Stacey raskin his managing director senior analyst. Use semiconductors at bruce dean research Stacey thank you so much for coming back on lot at stake. Tastic be back. Thank you for having again. What's it like you know. You're like a star now. Because one point semiconductors were just like this thing that maybe investors mostly cared about but it really does feel like an you know. Correct me if i'm wrong but it really does feel like in the last few months. Everybody is now obsessed with this story. I think i may have mentioned this last time. I was on but i. There's one reason. I love this space. It's literally ground zero for everything that's been going on. And it's it's you know it's not just the last few months the trade and that briar s and then the the the burgeoning geopolitics and now obviously the shortages. And everything else like. It's and you remember. I mean like the global electronic like enterprise. I mean it's like a four or five trillion dollar industry worldwide. If you add up all the pc's and and and and all of the consumer electronics and then all the services and software and everything that goes with it trillions and trillions of dollars in it all rests on semiconductors semi's or the fundament of all of that like we don't have any of that without semiconductors and so i think it's a phenomenal place to to spend time and it's job security for me so that's yeah that's that's the most important

The Future of Computing, AI, Life, and Consciousness

"What's the value and effectiveness of theory versus engineering. This dichotomy in building. Good software or hardware systems. Well it's good designs both. I guess that's pretty obvious. By engineering dean. You know reduction to practice of known methods in sciences to pursuit of discovery. Things that people don't understand or solving problems. Definitions are interesting here. But i was thinking more in theory constructing models. The kind of generalize about how things work engineering is actually building stuff. The pragmatic like okay. We have these nice models but how do we actually get things to work. May be economics is a nice example. Like economists have all these models of the economy works and how different policies will have an effect. But then there's the actual us call it engineering of like actually deploying the policies so computer design is almost all engineering and reduction to practice message now because of the complexity of the computers. We built you know you. You could think you're well we're just go write some code and then will verify and we'll put it together and then you find out that the combination of all that stuff is complicated and then you have to be inventive to figure out how to do it right. So that's definitely has happens a lot and then every so often some big idea happens but it might be one person that ideas in what in space imaging or is it in space a lot sample so one of the limits of computer performances branch predictions. So and there's there's a whole bunch of ideas about how good you could predict a branch and people said there's a limit to it and that's matata curve and somebody came up with a better way to do branch prediction of a lot better. And he published a paper on it and every computer and world now uses it and it was one idea so the the engineer who build branch fiction and hardware. We're happy to drop the one kind of training array and put it in another one so it was. It was a real idea and branch. Prediction is as one of the key problems. Underlying all of sort of the lowest level of software bows down to branch. Prediction boils down on certain computers delimited. By single thread computers ltd two things the predictability of the the branches and predictability the locale of data. So we have predictors at now predict both those pretty well. Yeah so memories. You know a couple hundred cycles away. Local cash couple cycles away. When you're executing fast virtually all the data has to be in the low cash so simple program says you know. Add one to every element array. It's real easy to see what the stream data will be. But you might have a more complicated program. That's you know says. Get a get a element of this array. Look at something. Make a decision. Go get another element. It's kinda random and you think that's really unpredictable. And then you make this big predictor. That looks at this kind of pattern. And you realize well if you get this date in this data then you probably want that one and if you get this one this one and this one you probably want that one and is that theory. Is that engineering like the paper. Those written was that Todd kinda kinda discussion or is it more like. Here's a hack. that works. well it's a little bit of both. There's information theory. I think somewhere to actually trying to prove but once once you know the method implementing. It is an engineering problem. Now there's a flip side of this which is in a big design team. What percentage of people think. They're they're they're they're they're planner their life's work is engineering. Versus design inventing things. So lots of companies will reward you for filing patents. Some many big companies got stock because to get promoted. You have to come up with something new and what happens is everybody's trying to do some random new thing ninety nine percent of which doesn't matter and the basics get neglected and or they get. There's a dichotomy day. Think like the cell library. Baixa cad tools. You know our basic you know software validation methods that simple stuff you know they want to work on the exciting stuff and then they spend lots of time trying to figure out how to patent something and that's mostly useless but the break was on simple stuff. No no you know you have to do the simple stuff really well. If you're building a building bricks you want great brex. So you go to two places to sell brexit one guy says yeah there over there an ugly pile and the other guy is like lovingly tells you about the fifty kinds of bricks and how hard they are beautiful. They are now square. They are you know which when you buy bricks for him which is going to make a better house.

QFC to shut down two Seattle stores; said decision 'accelerated' after city's hazard pay ordinance

"City council mandates a four dollar an hour hazard pay increase for grocery store workers so one grocery store chain announces in direct response. The closing of two of their stores. Democrats defend their impeachment strategy after acquittal

"Of the aisle are speaking out a day after the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump ended with his acquittal. The 57 to 43 vote in the Senate fell well short of the two thirds majority required to convict Mr Trump of the charge of incitement of insurrection. Montgomery County Congresswoman Madeline Dean was one of the impeachment managers. She appeared on ABC and says members of the GOP who voted not guilty are sending a bad message to the country. I give credit to the seven Republicans who stood with us. Followed the fax who looked at the law who looked at the evidence and found this president guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors. South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on Fox News Sunday says even the current vice president could be an impeachment target of the same process were used against her. If you use this model, I don't know how Kamila Harris Doesn't get impeached that the Republicans take over the house because she actually belled out. Rioters and one of the writers went back to the streets and broke somebody's head open. So we've opened Pandora's box here and I'm said for the country, it remains to be seen if Mr Trump will face criminal charges stemming from the capital Riot. The Opposite Of A Good Idea Can Also Be A Good Idea

"The opposite of good idea may also be a good idea. I saw that quote in a post. From nick day on linked dean and i think he was sharing somebody else's coat but it struck me as being powerful because it's multiple dimensions to it. The first i mentioned knees in my mind at least who determines what is good. Good is pretty subjective term and oftentimes when we go and seek out a good answer to a problem we've already got a preconceived notion of what a good idea might look like so if you come to the table with an idea. That looks different way. It is going to assume that it's the opposite of good idea when in fact it might be the wrong idea. The other dimension to this. Which i think is interesting. Is that the opposite of a good idea for this problem. Might be the perfect idea for the other problem. And if you wanna go a step further we might have even miss analyzed. Oh mis-diagnosed the problem over. He's so we might have identified problem. I as being the real thing that was holding his back when in fact it was problem d. and you come to us with a solution for problem. That doesn't really solve the problem but he does solve problems d. And that was actually the real problem. In the first place that was the big bottleneck that we were experiencing so love about that again. Is there's multiple dimensions. The opposite of a good idea can also be a good idea. Maybe because we've got good wrong. Maybe because of good is wrong. And maybe because we've just identified their own problem so they the two dimensions. I would love to hear what other dimensions you might see and nick. You happen to see this. If you can let us know what you thought they were trying to get to in that quote i would love to hear your thoughts as

Key moments from the second day of Trump's impeachment trial

"Wrapped up in former President Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate. It was dominated by documentation of how events unfolded leading up to the January 6th ride at the U. S. Capitol. House impeachment managers are trying to convince their colleagues in the Senate to convict Mr Trump for inciting a riot through his tweets, speeches and interviews interspersed with previously unseen and unheard Capitol security recordings that these senators heard. One of the prosecutors, Montgomery County Congresswoman Madeline Dean argues Mr Trump did all he could to stay in power. Even after he lost the election. Trump was not suing to ensure election integrity. He was pursuing lawsuits that would, in effect strip away American votes so that he could win. Lead impeachment manager Jamie Raskin, a Democratic congressman from Maryland, refers to the former president as the insider in chief and likened him to a rogue fire chief. This case is much worse than someone who falsely shouts Fire in a crowded theater. It's more like a case where the town fire chief Who's paid to put out fires sends the mob not to yell fire in a crowded theater, but to actually set the theater on fire. And who then, when the fire alarms go off in the calls, start flooding into the fire department asking for help does nothing but sit back, encourage the mob to continue its rampage and watch the fire spread on TV. Clea and delight after the impeachment managers finished presenting their case scheduled for tomorrow. Mr. Trump's team will then have the same two days to present their side. Resin.

Toyota Sees Production, Profit Rising

"The carmaker Toyota Andrew announcing a bigger than expected rise in profits, So it seems the pandemic hasn't hit him that hard. Well, 2020 overall was pretty awful for Toyota, like many carmakers, but the last few months of the year has seen share. It has seen a sales rising again for the last three months of last year. Toyota says that it made $8 billion of operating profit. That's a rise of 50%. Well to find out whether whether Toyota is leaving the pandemic behind. How will it is? Let's talk about a professor Seijiro to cash to who's dean of the school of Management at the University of She's a local Good morning to you, Professor Tanisha. How great Toyota doing? Is it doing Well, well, I would say, fantastical well, considering the fact that its archrival Honda and honest John is lagging behind one of the most wonderful thing about I think to you, too. This time around was, of course, it rode on the revival of the demand and also Possible simmering down a crow and some of the areas but it really has to do with the procurement that they were able to achieve in which is semiconductor. Their main procure Asahi chemicals, you know, awesome Gonna factory went on fire last October. It was pretty obvious that this was quite serious considering that, you know, modern cars used, you know. Quite a lot of civilian duchess. Compared to you know, cars 5 to 10 years ago on Obviously they were going to be in shortage. So they change your system of the typical J. I T just in time to use the system to J. I see just in case and they really stacked up Listen connections. That's one of the reasons why they did not have to revise down their number of sales. Because they couldn't produce enough as it was in the case of Honda, which they announced us yesterday and also downward region of cells by Nissan s o. If you compare you know to to with Nissan and Honda, it is very clear that was their measure of maneuverability and flexibility that were able to sustain this good earnings. So, in fact, actually Toyota there was hit by bad luck and turn that bad luck to to its advantage because many other companies as you were saying carmakers that Hatch are suffering from shortages of microchips. Our electric cars doing I mean to Isis clearly makes most of its vehicles their internal combustion. They use petrol. They use diesel. But are they making enough electric cars? Can they make that change? Fast enough? Well, you know, considering size obviously they can't turn around the ship right away. But this is one of those companies as in the case that we saw with the semiconductors this time around. They are very aware of the risks involved, and they do fully understand that. Of course, they knew need to take the path of coping with. You know what's happening, especially in Europe, which is very much ahead and forerunner of, you know, environmental. You know, I was saying, um, issues so obviously they're trying to really catch up, especially with the likes of battery manufacturers and trying to expand and also diversify their based And thus trying to get a very good grip on the next generation, the next to generation or levels. The problem here is that we really don't know which type of technology really is going to take. You know the

Marjorie Taylor Greene: US House votes to strip Republican of key posts

"Report. That they're covid. Nineteen shot may not only protect against disease but also help to prevent spread of the sars o. V. two virus the news was heralded by policymakers desperate to see a vaccine that can curb the spread of the disease but scientists have been a bit more cautious if confirmed the results would represent a breakthrough in the covid nineteen vaccine race so far the shots authorized or approved around the world have shown strong protection against moderate to severe disease but haven't definitively proven that people who get vaccinated are less likely to spread the covid nineteen virus but the data say. Some experts is confusing. So it's hard to adequately evaluate the companies claim that the shot can actually slow the spread of covid nineteen or not in the study published on the lancet pre print server which means the results have not been peer reviewed a gold standard for ensuring the scientific rigor of the findings astra zeneca and oxford scientists. Report that two doses of their vaccine was overall sixty six point seven percent effective in protecting against covid nineteen disease as part of its analysis. The research team also collected nasal swabs from and unvaccinated study volunteers in the uk every week and tested them for the virus. The scientists found that positive tests were about fifty percent lower among people who got two doses of the vaccine compared to those who weren't vaccinated because people who don't test positive are less likely to spread the virus the researchers extrapolated from those data. The astra zeneca shot can transmission of the covid nineteen virus. However that may be a bit of a stretch says dr carlos. Del rio executive associate dean of emory school of medicine. It's a leap of science. That i think still needs to be proven. He says what they show is that there was either decreased viral shedding or decreased detection a virus however they do not actually show that transmission was decreased. We can say less. Transmission is a possibility but the data on. That needs to come out says del rio. We wanna state the facts and don't want to overstate the facts. That concern was echoed by health officials. In switzerland who decided this week to reject the astra. Zeneca shot the data available and evaluated to date are not yet sufficient for approval. The country's regulatory bodies swiss medic said on february third part of the concern has to do with the fact that the astrazeneca study underwent a number of changes after the phase. Three trial was begun. A fact that some infectious disease expert say makes it difficult to interpret the results for a clinical trial as crucial as this one modifying the setup once it's underway is similar to changing the rules in the middle of a game the study originally set out to investigate a single dose vaccine but was changed to two doses when concurrently conducted early studies show that to set doses of the vaccine produced a stronger immune response further because of what astrazeneca said. Were mistakes in measuring doses. Some people in the study in the uk received a half dose for their first shot and a full dose for the second. one people also got different placebos. Some god benign nina cockles solution and some a saline solution. That could mean nothing. But it's also unusual to have two. Placebos sends that has the potential to introduce con founders into the study and because of limited supplies. Some study participants had to wait more than the three to four weeks originally planned between their doses while others when told they couldn't come back for their second dose at the time they expected chose to simply not get their second shot entirely. Frankly the way they did. These trials was really confusing. Says dr paul off it. Director of the vaccine education center at children's hospital of philadelphia and a member of the us food and drug administration's advisory committee that reviews vaccines for authorization or approval. This is the stuff you figure out in phase one. You don't fool around in phase three and see what works he says. Here's what the researchers report after getting a single shot. Seventy six percent of participants were protected against disease for up to three months. Afterwards from their their levels of antibodies generated against the virus which scientists believe are important to protect against disease began to drop those results suggest that while two doses of the astra. Zeneca vaccine preferable. A single dose could still be useful for about three months in controlling covid. Nineteen that might be especially useful information to act on if vaccines are in. Short supply.

As John Bronson reports from New Jersey this morning, we have to turn the way back machine toe 18 99 to find the New Jersey's record snowfall off 34 inches down south in Cape May. Now the National Weather Service has received the report off 35 a half inches in Mount Arlington, on the shores of Lake Oh, Pat Kong. Some of those numbers that we saw in the 35 inch range was last night, and maybe some of those areas picked up a little more this morning. Change And Why You Don't Have To Suck At It by Greg Audino

"Change in y. You don't have to suck at it by greg. Audino of greg audino darcom. How do i even begin this. After all changes one of those concepts that is really just too large fathom it exists in everything it's everywhere it always has and always will can arise me of outer space just a never ending inescapable and expansive vacuum. That we're all a part of whether we like it or not supposed and that the best place to start. The discussion is with those that. Choose to deny its existence altogether. And maybe we've all had a little bit of this in us at one point or another speaking of those that insist backwards and forwards that is no change in their life. Everything is always the same etcetera. The interesting thing about this is that some are happy about it. Others are whining about it. However you feel about it if you're one of those people that claim there is no change in your life. I regret to inform you that such a ridiculous accusation is rooted completely and utterly in fear. But where does that fear come from. And how can the same source of fear result in some people being happy and others being whiny well ultimately. The fierce starts having an overemphasis emphasis on the outside world by not having enough love or trust in oneself that ultimately your outer circumstances are left to define your happiness fear not very few people in the world are not in this boat and therefore not pummeled by the idea of change. What comes from that. However and effect slightly fewer people is what i like to call the invisible anchor. Most of us are constantly in pursuit of an anchor to our lives and unbending solution to the majority of our problems. We say things like one day. I'll have the perfect relationship or job or home at cetera and that will always be in place and it'll make all other things easier. We do this because we want to trust that something will always look after us and do the work of keeping us. Okay so we can go on autopilot. But the truth is that that doesn't exist and it doesn't exist because no outside source can possibly keep up with the constant change. That is your life so when things on the outside are generally fine though insides a mess you feel like everything is going all right in life. Man you're tricked into thinking that the inker is in place. Of course you try to ignore the fact that your situation can and will change. These are the people that are happy to deny change because they like things just the way they are and change. Threatens will soon prove to be a finite blanket of outer circumstances they of rape themselves in the only difference between these people who are happy without change and those who complain about no change happening in their lives is that one party likes their current situation and the other doesn't but is afraid that attempting to make change will only result in failure. Which of course will leave them without anything to believe in. The fact is it's the same fear of not having things figured out. Were scared of the emotional challenges that will face in accommodating to changes of all shapes and sizes because it requires work but this is one of those things in life that is inevitable so changes scary for those who try to pretend. That won't always happen and try to hide from it with is trying to prevent a potential oncoming change dean to fearful to initiate the change. You desire or resisting change. That's already happened. Of course you're setting yourself up for failure for as much as humans craved the uncertainty of adventure spontaneity and risk. We also created the certainty of believing we can always lean on something outside ourselves. Something's absorbed the brunt of the impact and keep a safe no matter what it's like children clung to their parents but we all know the truth. Don't we roll. Was one decision away from having entirely new life changes. Indeed that powerful in that possible so get a jump-start by reclaim your power over any doubt. You may have shifted attention to what you want by becoming. A dictator of change does changing relationship with the idea of change and being rattled when changes out of your control. Come to you. It can be a long journey inward to become one of the many that don't over emphasize the outside world be can begin by focusing on the change that you want for yourself. And if he'll entertain me. I think the following simple exercise will help clear the air and do just that whether we're talking about relationship change career change or whatever else right and honor three lists for yourself. The first is a list of things you want to continue doing things that feel right. Bring you joy and would be nice to keep around. The second list is a list of things. You want to start doing that which you want to incorporate into your life but haven't paid attention to in the past.

Why Diphenhydramine Is No Longer the Go-To Drug for Your Seasonal Allergies

"Are talking about diphenhydramine which The most commonly used brand name is benadryl. This is a first generation antihistamine so long longtime ago. Many many many years ago The majority of people would use diphenhydramine for things like a seasonal allergies. Now we've since had the advent of second generation antihistamines and the big difference. There was sedation. Diphenhydramine is very sedating. Compared to a drug like loretta dean for example which is a second generation and a histamine so while diphenhydramine is has fallen on a favor. And you don't see it used terribly often for like seasonal allergies and allergic rhinitis. I definitely still see this medication. Used a lot and i would say The number one thing. I see it used for is sleep and its sedative properties Seems like a lot of the geriatric patients that i work with us. This stuff like candy to help them go to sleep. And and there's lots of reasons why that shouldn't be done or we should do everything in our power to avoid using this medication for sleep. And i'll i'll talk about some of those but Sleep allergic rhinitis. I'll definitely see it for Itching that's not controlled by other things or it's from unidentifiable 'cause basically symptomatic management of itching

"Welcome to an all new episode of help by Suck at dating I'm jared haven. Dean is I. Don't know where the hell is to be honest. He's going to join us on the pockets at some point, but this is what happens when you record remotely and you live in a van sometimes you're on the podcast and sometimes you have to find WIFI somehow but I have a wonderful guest that is joining me right off the top of the pie cast. She's a stand up comedian. She's an actress, has a brand new comedy special entitled One of my favorite comedy special. Todd of all time never been kissed because it's also one of my rom coms of all time Nicole Birch Nicole. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having me God. Of course. We Are you are you, Bachelor. Fan. Do you watch yourself up missile I am but not nearly as much as my mother. So make sense I would actually quarantining at my mom's house right now and I can tell her ears pressed against the door where we're recording this because she's freaking out right now. Oh, that's amazing. Usually that's the response I'm used to. It's like, yeah, I kinda watch a show. My mom loves the show though if I had a nickel every time I heard that Why wouldn't be doing this podcast? But Nicole. So you have brand new special out that's been out for a couple months. Now you've recorded it before Kovic went down because I've been I've been watching a I watched it and I mean it's packed room. So how long ago did you record it and then it came out one August I believe. came out September fifteen but it we shot it at the very end of two, thousand, eighteen and so it took a we were hoping to release the beginning of this year but then covert happen and I did not going to be going on tour and what that look like and eventually I was like. I really want this to get out why? While it's still timely so we decided to just do the relief state on September thirteenth It's very funny. I. Love when you talk about dating between dating guys in Kansas in dating guys in Los Angeles and how people are like, Oh, you know dating is the same everywhere and then you're like. But it's not it's very different dating guys in Los Angeles versus dating guys in Kansas. So my question is. Why did you want a title? It never been kissed because obviously that's a play. Well, that's just a reference to the one thousand nine hundred romantic comedy nineteen ninety s Rome Rom Com with Drew Barrymore. Right so I was obsessed with that movie when I was a teenager I watched it. I had no friends in high school. So I probably watch that zone three hundred times in one year. That's impressive. Yeah. It was but you know I related to drew. Barrymore's character because she was like this nerdy girl and always like had a crush on the attractive popular guys that was always like dismissed and so I really related to that and then. The main point of the comedy specialists to talk about a date I actually go on with the leading man in never been kissed Michael Vartan. and. So have you watched that movie recently? Oh. Yeah. All right. So I love this movie as well. I'm GonNa Humble Brag for a second I've met David. arquette. Okay great and I really wanted I wish I saw his car. So I could call car Bambi but I didn't have the balls to do that but he is a bachelor fan and he knew who I was. So as one of the greatest moments in my life because not only do I love never been kissed but I'm also a massive screen fan. So to NEAT deputy dewey in real life was quite a spectacular moment for myself. But I also love that movie but I just watched the recently. I gotta be honest. The whole teacher like falling in love with Drew Barrymore. Before he knows that she's an adult like it's something I can't get passed now as being an adult. Does. Not hold up especially not in like the environment the last few years. I was like this is super inappropriate post me to. Get like you just pull the t shirt a little bit a little. You can't you can't So Nicole. For why? No you can't really talk about the day because it's like what the special is all about. But I guess like since-buried dating podcast, what is your experience been overall dating? In Kansas dating in Los Angeles just dating in general. I think the biggest thing is that. Until I kind of did some soul searching than fixed who I was like up to that point which not that I still don't have plenty of work to do but up to that point I attracted. The. People of the same sort that had figured out that didn't know who they were and that was kind of traumatic and a lot of ways because a lot of the guys that I would date I mean my mom always said I could go into a bar with one hundred guys and I would walk out with the one drug addict like. Why we picked that and once. Ya? So Yeah I. Don't attract that anymore, which is great I also. You know we make mistakes and stuff. There's people I dated that I would never date now given the same circumstances. So that's I guess that's growing you're growing and learn. That's the whole point of dating. Isn't it? So you can go out there and you can learn about the things that you do like in the things that you don't like. Thousand percents like dating guys in Los Angeles Sucks. It's. I feel very lucky because I moved out here. in late two, thousand, seventeen. And I was only here for like four or five months before I started dating my girlfriend now wife So I never really experienced dating and all that much and I was born and raised Rhode Island. So I can kind of relate to you about dating in Kansas, versus Los Angeles because dating Rhode Island's very different too. Crazy it's just because Los Angeles. There's so many like you know sparkly things that like everybody's always looking for the next best thing. Yeah and it's and everything. So spread out and then you've got logistics you got traveled time. So even if somebody's like fifteen miles away, you're like, how are we gonNA Commute? It's an hour and a half drive. And then but yeah, you're right. Everybody's got the bigger better deal syndrome and always looking somewhere else myself. I'm also guilty of that. No. Yeah La's but then in Kansas is like I asked my. Top three things you're looking for when he was like twenty two, I asked a mess and he was like well career wife kids and if I ask any of my male friends that were single in L. A., they'd be like well career the second career third career a car maybe like girlfriend I don't know if I want you steady girlfriend and then but like family and stuff was not even top ten if she has an instagram following, that would be great. It's a nice bonus. Yeah it's an interesting it's interesting. A look at the dating world I'm glad that I get to look at it from the outside. Very lucky. But like. Again seeing her a dating I. Don't WanNa Pry. But like what are you single now you dating? Now. I'm actually single. I have a one year old daughter Her name's Everley. Beautiful Name She's adorable. She is Ram Sunshine when I say she's probably the Smiley Baby I've ever seen. I. Don't she gets it. She is just pure.

I guess i'm saying that right now yeah now i just came like privacy respect people's privacy but i will say i was really team dean and kayla then what you think of the day. What's your honest opinion about. Pretend like you're not talking. You're talking to like some sound. Kaelin lakes lakes funding beautiful now you know she ends. We all know says. Everyone has a girlfriend down here but i actually wrote this down. Keisha said it best when when you walked in and she's like oh dina's a rugged beach bum like you shower but you don't. It's kind of like a weird combination where you know we're. We're all here fred outside. That is hilarious or is that dean like does he shall we know showers his youth so young founded on us like sexual thing about you and especially and i'm saying this i'm i'm saying this from a very healthy happy committed relationship when you were knapp who was like i saw dean on a whole other level outside. Did it be meet me about the chemistry between you and caroline and the pool was. I don't know whether we're behind us but what's funny is that leading into that kiss was not the most romantic thing. Let her <hes> no the jump the jump into the pool. That's not what is referring to. They edited out. I don't know if i can say. I don't see why i wouldn't be able to say that. It was just like the first kiss is are always awkward. Ray especially. I wasn't drinking alcohol. It also like my game game was more dislike speaking openly and honestly and it wasn't as smooth or swab as it typically which again it really isn't but sometimes like when you when they get liquor up a little bit like i'm a little bit smoother and like right before her and i kissed i go ceylan. Have you ever kissed a guy with the mustache before french goes. I don't think so and i go well. Do you wanna and then we we laid lips on each other but they didn't air that and i was like i was kinda like dreading that for a minute like going like leading into the kiss at the day. It's going to be pretty embarrassing. I like said this really silly thing in order to get a kiss from this girl that i liked on this date but they didn't enter yeah. My boyfriend asked me if he was not actually he said there's something i really wanted to do right now before he went in for the what do you want to see me like. I'm unwanted all my meanest thing ever finally asking it sweet and this erkki sites you that's so endearing <hes> and and i actually that healing called you out when you're like about yourself and you're like oh. You really know how to hype yourself up and i'm like yes. Kaelin put her kevin hayes spa exactly dean. You need to know that you're like what we see in. You need to believe it because you say that all the time which is pretty funny actually she. She can get that like i said i always try to under promise and over deliver when i was talking to chris my way down i go. I live in van. I'm unemployed unemployed. I have a moustache who wouldn't want to date me right. I mean you just have a way to have a way of talking by yourself. I wanna was weird for you because i don't know what your situation is. Obviously you were dating christine. Our point is it weird to walk in. I've never been on paradise and a lot. The listening to this episode paradise nerves leading into walking down the stairs and seeing everyone in front of you. How does that feel. I'm going to answer that question but before i do that i think we should take a little break. That was supposed to do that or not. Okay cool hey. I'm andy if you don't know me. "Back and forth. Texting and more meaningful dates. This is a game changer is real people making real connections. So download loco. That's L. Okay. Oh, in the app store or on Google play today. Art. So I know we're not a bachelor recap podcast, but obviously, we're all on the show. So when it's on we like to talk about a little bit plus dating podcast. So one last question to do with the bachelor has to do with dean Dini baby soon, right, next to me, the ever sexy, and beautiful kind, sweet heart warming, honest, endearing Dini babies. Welcome. Dean any update on whether you wanna do paradise or not, not so much, if you're doing it, but whether he'd wanted to tell you what there's four people on this podcast right now five and total including me. Let's put it to vote. Okay. Great. Who votes? Yes, everyone. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's how it's like eighty five percent. Big. Yes for me. Great. So it sounds like unanimously four against one. Is that a binding vote? Going now I was just curious. I want you to do it because I don't want you to look back and say, why the hell then I do it. My I know my thing is like is anyone gonna want to date a guy that lives in a van, you know? Yeah you got one. I guess that's all you need. Is one. Well, obviously, it was spotlighted a couple months ago where you were talking about bachelor relationships, how Heather thick. So if you has your. Yeah. Have you had your mind at all? Do you have I know is a little the, the context of what you were saying was a little skewed as well that definitely factors into my decision mirror. Is that your phone? What does that, that definitely factors into my decision a little bit? Why don't you be a professional? Professional you're staring in this little mirror while you're talking during the podcast. We're gonna call you out. I'm I'm talking here. Those is how I focused are you talking to yourself in the Mary, trying to hyper self up what I'm doing? What I when I said that isn't ash, and actually, the relationship was fake. You didn't say that. God. That's why I met. Just kidding. Yeah. I said that a while ago, the back in January after I was a little heated about some stuff. And so now I would feel a little weird about going back onto bachelor show. So that's kinda like working in the cons column drive the van Puerto Vallarta. I mean that's kinda hell. They let me and they paid for my gas. I'm freaking there. I don't know if I really want to be in a relationship like not just with the bachelor person, but with anyone in general, so I, I feel guilty going on a dating show that the intent of like dating. I do. Sometimes fine though. There's so many people that say they give up on dating Damon up, not that they don't want to be in a relationship right now. And then it seems coincidental sometimes that they meet someone that they're ready to commit in a relationship with. So it's just food for thought I have a question if you met a woman who also she shared your views of I want to see the world. I want to see an van. I wanna pay rent. I don't wanna do anything I would love to live this life as well and her getting in the van with you and drive around the world. Is that your dream concept or your nightmare concept? I don't think I really want anyone with thought, you know, it's kind of like a just a me thing, me and my dog thing I guess, it's kind of the appeal of it. Maybe I don't know. I don't know. That's kind of.

"Great to we look forward to hearing more from you. Gain Hong Kong. Yes. You there seventy by. But. But I. Did she say see you in Hong Kong? Yeah. We're going out there for New Year's for with each other. Right. That's a joke. Obviously she's going there for years, but it myself and definitely be in Hong Kong for new year, Vanessa you were just telling us about how you like to use sex toys in the bathroom before we got into those. Techstars talk about thank why not I did not say sex toys. I said I'm very open if I'm comfortable with someone than yeah. I wanna be open to explore and it has to be a safe a safe space, and there has to be consent. And I'm very defied. Yeah. Concern is very important. So I'm surprised dean you keep saying, you're prude. And the thing is with you you like to put yourself down. One of the. And I don't think one is better than the other. I just I I don't know. How do I say this need to bring one of your ex girlfriends on the podcast, I can actually entire I cannot you call you. You'd be calling. Guarantee. All my ex girlfriends would say that I was horrible and bed. Once listen, I think once you love someone, and you're really into you know, you have really great sexual chemistry and you love each other. No matter the size. It's gonna be great sex thing with guys certainly need to bring at toys and stuff why because the difference between sex and then making anything with sex with guys more or less is going to be the same from person to person. These days. I'm just saying the very the variants insects from from girl to girl for a guy is different than guy to guy for girl. Why is that? I think in my obviously, welcome on Saturday. Have you had sex with both a man and a FEMA? No. But I would imagine a piece of the composition of a penis is much different from guy than the composition of giant from girl. The girl I men just sometimes need to get off. So. Bye. Get off to Hillary's a lot of funny looks. I'm confused. You're saying that for orgasm talking about order that we'll know what I'm saying is no he's talking about the actual physical act of sex. Right. Well, that's kind of all encompassing. Yeah. Yes. But not just the orgasm. I mean, you think that women have different like far different experiences with different men saying ninety nine point nine percent of the time. A guy is going to have an orgasm insects, and what sixty percent of a time girl is going to have an orgasm and sex house. You're talking about organisms. Well, I'm talking about everything I'm talking about the actual physical structure of a penis versa. China I think it's also the mental like confused Hillary Hillary, we've got a lot. Eighty three children just playing around saying whatever comes to our heads. I think the way that men and women typically conceptualize sexual experiences is different like even your paradigm of the difference between penises and vaginas. Probably women are not going to think of it that way, they're going to the homeless stick experience. You know, like the mental connection is what the foreplay was like what the touching and gazing was like an what the parts felt like and what the orgasm felt like, but they're going to look at all of it as opposed to just the feel of the parts. And I think that men may be more likely to sort of have more more detached like quantitative analysis. That's kind of always been my my mo-. But I've always been more of a numbers guy than a more logic present emotional guy. Yeah. I mean, I Don. I mean that women are less likely to sort of be like, oh this boyfriend had a bigger part. And so I prefer that sex versus leg approach to stacks Morris. Sensual and sexy and our connection was amazing. And so it's the whole that resonates like as you look at your historical past versus like, the those specific data. Yep. You're welcome. I'm crossing a lot right now. We should end here and go our separate ways and try to process what we all. Just learn. And here's our homework or homework is we're all going to go home and have as much sex as possible comeback next year and discuss our findings. This is our last podcast except for you..

"And so it's like they're having an. Role play. Oh. Gabriel place. Someone did ask belly apps. What about sex toys and role play for dean? How do you feel about that? I'm a hard pass all that stuff. I you don't wanna talk about it or. I mean, I'll talk about me not doing it. Because I just I'm a prude. You are not a crew. You're not elaborate. I'm not a prude two women at once that doesn't make me not. And I was I wasn't sleeping with both of them at the same time. Excuse me. Oh, I didn't know that. Okay. I'm glad we clarify that. But let me just what everyone expects is that I was sleeping with both of them the whole time. No. That's what I don't know. There's that. And there's a mix of like emotional only, you know, the better. Okay. Forget about that back to role play your you've never role played before not that. I know of should we we can we can tackle this in a second before we get into our next segment. We do wanna talk about something. That means a lot to this podcast. You guys have heard us talk about it before. And that is twenty three and me Vanessa dean have even wanted to goes on twenty three may Jerry horse. So what was your biggest reveller? I'm a hundred percent European. I'm the most boring man in the world finesse. Okay. So I spoke about how I thought mailed. Did you guys go up until the line with the bubbles of your spit? Or did you go past the line with the bubbles of your spit on? I listened to which directions. But with the bubbles the bubbles count mobile zone count don't count. Okay. So I went up above the line with my bubbles anyway. So it's really easy. All you. Gotta do is like accumulated bunch of spit spit on the tube close it. And then they provide you this little package, you you put it in you close a box, and you mail it back to them. So I haven't mailed it yet. So I'm waiting obviously, I have to wait for my results. And I it is how long I think a couple of weeks weeks and it to get your results back..

"Someone gets six seconds is the dynamic changes in divorce happens. But I think there's this reality that we all feel no one wants to be alone alone. It's an existential truth to being human. And so I think it's like trying to live with that existential truth and also the reality of being in the world, and you are alone. So if you're alone, what do you do you? Try to yourself you try to fill your life. In ways that feel full you try to put together experiences that make you feel less lonely. You know what I mean? So I think like, they they coexist. Like, they're both true that like, I don't wanna be alone. But if I'm alone, I'm going to do it in the most graceful full way that I can't. I think that that helped your it does help us you were gonna say something. Yeah. Why Hillary I think you brought up a good point the word connection. I think that's what we're all searching for whether that's in a relationship or on a friendship or anywhere in life. You want to form connections, and the ending of any kind of connection is a hurtful one whether that's the ending of a friendship or an ending of a relationship. That's that's what I think that we're all searching for is connection. Can we move onto the next question though? Because I want to your. Yeah. Dean, did you want to say something? I was just gonna say I was going to prepare a hypothetical picture for us. But I think that would probably take too long for us to discuss in a brief. I was gonna say imagine we live a life from zero to eighteen in complete solitude where we don't spend time with anyone else other than ourselves. And then come eighteen years old. We're allowed to roam the world truly as we as we want. Then do you think hang out with other people have takes the same effect as it does? Now now because you've spent eighteen years of your life by yourself. So it's like, then then that's when it's a necessity versus an option in my opinion. And it just like it's a weird thing to think of us because we're bred to be social creatures. And then the fact that we're not social creatures for, you know, short amounts of time in our life. Then we begin to get depressed and upset with ourselves. I don't know. It was just a weird way. No, I agree. It's very going back to birds of prey almost where you're brought up in a certain environment. Brought up in a certain society. Feather bird's feather, excuse me birds of prey DC. Most living beings are that. I mean, even right working out. Seek to be with each other lines in Nepal. But that's I'm going to read this question for you. Okay. Then you can answer it. Yeah. Okay. So this question is from Collins Collins says my significant other and I have been dating for a year since being together we put on weight, but we have more sex, and we are far more intimate with each other. Now why I feel like we have more time now to have sex. But why are we like teenagers? Again, I made getting back into shape goal will lose my sex life to get back into shape. That's the one that you wanted. Yeah. Because I my thirties now and Hillary correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like I've been my sexual prime women come into later. Right. Absolutely. Well, thirty peak. Thirties. Yeah. I'm sorry thirties UP sexually pecan peak. Not thirty decade of thirties. Right. So I feel like I don't know. Maybe men peak all the time. So they're always ready to go and women when they hit their thirties or like, oh, yeah. I'm like on the same level as you are. Now, we think that has anything is that true, anything speaking all the time. Then people probably between like what Serling thirty two or something like that. Right. Yes. Sixteen thirty two pretty gross generalizations..

"Love dot com slash Vanessa and get your and a half size bras delivered straight to your house. Perfect. So we have some Facebook questions that I'd love to talk about with Hillary Hillary, if you're open to the idea of answering some of these questions with us what your schedule looking like he'll hang out with you guys faked. And again, if you guys haven't joined the Facebook group, it is help I dating podcast Facebook group joining today, lots of connections and friendships and questions being answered in that little form. So the first one comes from I'm assuming this is Miranda. And it's typo or is it Marin Madan maranda. But I know that's a beautiful name. She says this year, I feel like I've tried so many times to be happy being single. But having struggling how do I not? How do I not let finding a relationship be the factor that determines my happiness? What would you say for that Hillary? That's. Such a ubiquitous quest and journey for. I'd say women more than men that was That that. was that. I, you know, I think the I don't know I don't want to sound like overly stereotypical in terms of women in men's roles, but I do We're all or. friends, or I think there's just more of a primitive poll for women to settle down and nest and to secure a scenario where they can have children and to just be more future focused because of those I mean, really sort of primitive urges. And I think most women at a certain age like in their mid to late twenties if still single start to worry about what that means there's cultural pressures familial pressures, and there's internal pressures will this ever happen for me. When will it be in time for media have kids that sort of thing? So there's like a reality component to this quest this pressure. This like problem that a lot of single women phase. And there's no perfect answer. But there's like a set of things that I think most people should do if they're single. I mean, first of all self compassion is really important. It is totally normal and appropriate to want to have a relationship and a one how those things for yourself, and to have a portion of your heart and life and mind thinking about that. So I think just like trying to have an ease that that's one of the things that you want, and that's going to be part of someone's like question hope until that happens is, okay. But I think on the journey sort of trying to figure out a way to have grace and emotional contain. Payment is really important. And I mean, some of these things we've all heard before. But a part of that is because they're they're tried and true. It's really important to try to build other aspects of your life. That are meaningful to you, whatever that means, whether it's professional staff friendship stuff hobbies pursuing dean, you just went on a three week adventure. I. Third or fourth Minneapolis. I'm sure it had its ups and downs. Right. That some of it was probably amazing and wonderful and built up huge parts of yourself. And I'm sure some of them were lonely. I mean, you did end up on Tinder. Kiana Reeves is by any chance, of course. Yeah. All right huge fan. So I'm actually. I'm a big fan as well. And he's got some pretty fun quote. Like interesting quotes thought provoking quotes that he he's shared with the world I was scrolling through. And I saw this one the other day that's actually perfect for this topic. He says someone told me the other day that he felt bad for single people because they're lonely all the time and counter told him it's not true. I'm single I don't feel only I take myself out to dinner. I by myself close. I have great times by myself. Once you know, how to take care of yourself company becomes an option and not a necessity. Okay. And I love that. I get it because the biologic women. I hate that. Why why? Hate that. Because he's Kiana raise. Of course, he can take himself out over a million times. Like you have to understand that. It's just Kiana reuses allowed to say that because he could he has the opportunity to surround himself with whoever he wants whenever he wants. He takes himself out himself out on a date. Women could do that. Because I bet he takes himself out on a date because he's tired of being around people..

"This is why I'm obsessed with thrive market because you can get all the goodies. I currently obsessed with the garlic Ayla mayo made with the Advocaat oil you guys that the list it's scrunches not a lot of people like mayonnaise. I'm a man as well. As if I have a Turkey sandwich. I want Turkey cheese lettuce on a white sub. With extra mayo extra garlic Ailey may mayo and then denied. I know you love the almond butter. Well, so so after I've never really been a big wine drinker, but after South America and the mullebeck and Argentina, I started to get into it. And one of the best things about thrive market is that they actually have the best one as well. They're ones are unique because they look for wines that are lower and sulphur spectrum and wines that don't have any extra additives or flavoring which from someone that already hates the additives and extras of life. It's nice to find a market that is willing to provide stuff that that kind of limits that kind of stuff as well. Talking about food and stuff, but go on the website. There's a bunch of other products to like right now, I'm taking magnesium pills from one of my favorite companies. I know if I'm pronouncing your rights so salary is like this white bottle. If you go into shop mineral section there's also as an Italian. I'm like, I actually just made myself a tomato sauce right now to eat past right after I'm done this episode when there's this dice organic diced tomato, then I've tried from thrive market. It's non GMO BPA free in what I love, especially what I love about it. It's source direct from the farmer. So it's basically, you know, what you're getting it's super healthy. And then one of my I like, my friend came over, and they were cleaning my house with with windex and Mike God, there's so many chemical to windex I don't like that stuff. So if you go on thrive market and you click on home and you click on household cleaners. I actually bought this product called lavender cleaning vinegar from an fannies in. It's a non toxic product. And I have my nephews my nephew. Coming over. And I have a bunch of kids come over. So wanna make sure that my house is nontoxic for whenever have little kids running around. So it's great not only for food products to the lavender. It's like a it's like a windex sits in its table. Yeah. That's what I use a nontoxic. Yeah. It's nontoxic, which is a great thing. And guys thrive market like Vanessa and dean just said, it's not just food. But it has wine in there has cleaning products beauty products. I've gone shampoo from thrive. I've gotten body wash from thrive. I've gone face wash from thrive. Dean, you know, all about that stuff? All packaging, boxes and inserts are made from recycled paper, and are recyclable obviously there are one hundred percent zero ways. They're the first company in the country maze zero waste, which is really incredible guys thrive. Markets prices..

"Separate Stinson therapy. Right. When I was younger when I was ten I did it when I was fifteen I did it. And then when I'm twenty seven I've done it as well. And those first two times I got nothing out of it because I was being essentially urged or forced to go to therapy. And I don't think you really will get anything out of therapy until you make the conscious decision for yourself to be like going to go and do this more myself. Right. So until I was like I'm going to go do this because I want to do it because I want to better myself in whatever avenue, it is that I want to better myself in then that's when you start to see the results. Right. And so people are like not necessarily making your unless you're willing and receptive to the idea that I don't think you're going to get as much out of it, obviously Kristie from wrong, but only you're gonna get as much out of it otherwise. Well, that's interesting because I have. A little bit of a different experience because I was probably in my like early twenties when I was going through this really bad break up. And I blamed a lot of myself which was in the right because it was a lot of my fall and went through kind of a dark period. And it was somebody else that suggested, hey, listen, you should maybe go talk to someone and they suggested me to therapists, and I was really uneasy about it. Because I didn't want to go to therapy. I didn't want to talk about it. Because it a very similar to Vanessa said in my own head in the way, I was brought up. It was a a sign of weakness to a sense. But then I ended up going, and I ended up really enjoying it and went to therapy for about a year and a half weekly and be able to just talk about anything not even just about the relationship of the dark period, I was going through but just everything in my life. Anything I wanted to vent about. So it was interesting because I had a different perspective because I didn't make the conscious decision on my own to go. It was somebody else. It said you should probably do this. And it might make you feel better. And it did make me feel better some of those close to you, obviously family member. So that's I think the difference is what you're saying dean, and I think you're a little bit jaded by the your experience, you have on reality TV, which is people on social media or people. Coming up to you in everyday life who have no it or who you are thinking. They know who you are. Because you're on a television show suggesting things that they shouldn't suggest that maybe the right? That's the thing too. It's like they could be right. But it sells like frustrating. Yeah. But it's one thing to impose what someone else thinks that they should be doing and put that onto someone else. And it's another thing to advocate like Jared was saying and suggested say, hey, I've done it. I think it's great. And I opened up about my experiences on and off the show. I talk I openly talk about Hillary and the flu what I want to talk about with you as well. I openly talk about having done couple's therapy with Nick while we were together. And I think it was important for us to also stay stick with the same therapist. Who obviously was part of the franchise. So she was there from the beginning of our relationship until the end of it, and she saw the progress in she saw, you know, things that we needed to both work on and so ever since then I haven't been I've been dating I haven't had serious relationship since the ending of my engagement with Nick very much open to it. I'm dry everything that I can to get there. But that's dating nowadays. Anyway. So I wanted to ask do you suggest couples therapy for all couples or do you think couples therapy should be something couples should look into when?.

"So I feel like I've had a discussion with someone recently Nells talking about the importance of going to therapy, and like in my culture, and the Italian culture, it's deemed like you're a weak person. If you're going to therapy, and if you need help from an outside source other than your family, and I want to be able to help people understand the importance of it. I only started there be once I was on the bachelor and within the last three years, I feel like I've drastically changed and I've seen I've come to understand the world romantically, the romantic my romantic relationships, my relationship with myself in a very different light. And it's people things to you. That have helped me get to that point. So first of all, I just wanted to say, thank you. And anyone that's listening. If you do need. Need to seek help. I one hundred percent support it, and I'm a big advocate for that. Now. I want to ask you if you know like sometimes I go through different situations in life, whether that's like with work or personal romantic relationships. And I heard that there's a point in time. I think from like age zero to five or I don't know what if there's an age gap things that have happened. She wouldn't you're younger kind of reappear later on in life. But you don't know where it stems from. But they say like between the ages of in my by making ends like there's like a certain age where if you've had trauma that might reappear later on in life. Yeah. I mean, I don't know if there's empirical evidence that sort of brackets out certain ages per se, but certainly there is lots of anecdotal and empirical evidence that talks about if there's trauma in childhood. I don't know maybe ten under. It's certainly informs how we relate to the world how we view ourselves. And oftentimes those things don't get addressed. We'll repeat them in our relations more often than not. So if we were abandoned by parent through a divorce or death or a father left, his family or something? Then maybe we end up on the receiving end of being abandoned a lot in relationships choosing people who can't be emotionally available or maybe we do the abandoning sort of thing. So patterns can keep repeating themselves. Unless we do. I see dean pointing deals. Right. And if it goes on a dressed, and we don't think about it in a super conscious way, it ends up showing up somehow on our life symptoms show, whatever those symptoms are in cheer point Vanessa oftentimes the symptoms so to speak ends up being a pattern in relationships. One thing one sorry to interrupt and is before we kind of expand on that topic. One thing that I really dislike one of my biggest pet peeves is when people like for me. And for instance, is when people that I've never met before nor do I know nor will ever meet are constantly saying he needs therapy. He should go to therapy. I hope that boy gets therapy. That's really pisses me off why. Because it's like who the hell are you to tell someone else that they need to go to therapy? Right. Like, obviously, it's always good to know. That therapy is an outlet for someone. But other people that don't know you have no place telling you what you do and don't need. And that's really just really makes me so angry any avenue of life. Whether people tell you like all you need to be on this. Or you need to do this. And I think there'd be just an outlet for that. No, don't get me wrong. Like the therapy. When I go to therapy. I I see myself benefiting from it. But I don't want other people to be telling other people that what they need. And if that thing is therapy. It just doesn't make sense like they don't really necessarily have a place to step in and be like you need this because your your life so eft up. Sorry, bleeped up you need this. Sure. But I think I just wanted to distinguish this. You're not that people shouldn't advocate other people going to therapy. Like, for example, like if I was talking to a friend, and I thought that they needed help. It's my job. It's gonna be like suggest it. But what you're saying? Is that somebody that has no idea who you are what you're about should not make a judgment on you within five minutes of meeting. So they'll say is like they'll what they'll see something bad happen. And then they're retort will be like oh, go to therapy..

"It would have been a fantastic situation. Well, yeah. So anyways at the end of day, great three weeks in South America. I highly recommend getting down there. If you have the chance to I am going to I mean, hopefully, you can what kind of stinks. There's a lot of times like people reach out to me on Instagram or something like that. And they're like, oh, I wish you could share more about your travels or something like that. And I know like, obviously, this is a dating podcast. But like I need to figure out a forum where I can like start sharing that type of stuff I'm gonna start rivaling, Leslie with the blog a travel blog. I think you know, that's probably not the best reason to that's the thing. I'm gonna go head to head. I'm gonna go head to head and I'm gonna take her down. I'm just kidding. But I will I think in the future. Why not just trouble box or the people for the people that are interested in that kind of stuff? I am I'm going to consider trying to start. I know it's a lot of work. It's not easy, and and work, and I kind of having a version to each other. I also think it will be better for you. Because when you're lonely on these trips sometimes rating and tender you could be yeah. You're bought there you go. Yeah. Yeah. Ex exactly right instead of editing pictures and watching that flicks. Yeah. Are choosing what song is going to be on my profile? So we do have an expert in studio. That's going to talk about all things relationships. Her name is Hilary, no not Clinton a different Hillary. But before we jump into that we wanna talk about a little thing that we've been talking about in the podcast for a few weeks. Now that we all love, you know, it we know it it's Amazon fire TV they're not gonna tell you. So after traveling for three weeks, there were not many things that I missed one of those things was definitely my Emma's on fire. Tv you do. You stream a lot you watch a lot of TV YouTube videos HBO net flicks. You name it the whole caboodle, and the cool thing about Amazon fire TV is That that you you. can watch all of those pretty easily you can watch what your favorite YouTube channel dean, my favorite YouTube channel. Yeah. I know. It's a lost in question. I've talked about this before it's called. Oh, remember the name of it like Kaiser stat or something? That's how much would you possibly love it? If you don't remember the name of it because it's like some weird like Dutch word or something like that. That's fair. It's in a nutshell, basically, Chuck it out YouTube often using videos, I would love that. I'm a big watch Mojo guy because it gives ranks of a lot of different pop culture references, but mainly focuses on films. I talked about before I don't really care about pop culture. Aw. It's the best though. It's like top ten movies with plot twists that did not save a bad movie or something like that. It's cool. It's cool. It's the least interesting. Right. Right. Right. Andy way. What? So, you know, watching YouTube like we've just been talking about. It's all about you. Whatever your favorite channel is you can watch it on your big screen with fire. "It is your third favourite co host. He has finally returned dean angler joined in studio by Jared and Vanessa back in Montreal with very special guest in studio Dr Hilary Lindh goal Golkar. Thank you so much for coming in today. Hillary, and we have a very fun episode. Obviously we're going to kind of recap my travels through South America over the past three weeks. I've got a funny ish dating story that we could share from. Only normally do for my travels to hear it. We're going to answer some questions we're going to provide some answers, we're going to obviously talk to Hillary and get her expert opinion on all things because we're not experts. We are idiots at the end of the day. So it's nice to have someone that actually knows what they're talking about. And we're going to discuss topical things as well regarding the deck shepherd thing. And some other things as well as we see fit. So Jared dean, what should we do to start? First of all how are your travels in South America? What my big question is. What makes you want to travel alone so much lately? My travels were fantastic. Thank you for asking. So just for the listeners out there that don't follow me on Instagram. I was in South America for three weeks, I did plant Assad hottest for five days, and then I did Patagonia for a week Macci chew and rainbow mountain for a week as well. And it was it was my first trip where I got soil camp. Most of the nights that wasn't like staying in a hotel stepped in tents. I think probably like eight nights of the sixteen nights that I was gone, and it was fun. Because obviously like I was like reconnecting with nature. I grew up in Colorado. So it was nice to kind of get back into the mountains and hike around. And I was like talking to my brother the entire time. And he was like arm so jealous, you're going to Patagonia. That's always been like the top of my list. And it was amazing. And I've always heard even like like Leslie used to rate. Unless he's been around the world, you know, nineteen times. She's always raved that paddock on yesterday absolute favorite spot. And so I I've kind of always made it a goal of mine to get down there. And it was incredible. I met some messaging her by the way, not. I took your advice columnist stay away. Glad I didn't. I'm I'm glad I think we're all glad you didn't. It was great. So the first like four nights I stayed in August, which is obviously a big city by myself. And I hated it. I started to realize is that I'm gonna move away from traveling to cities like that is solely when I'm alone. Like, if I'm going with friends or something I'll go to cities, but I just get so bored and cities I can't be that person that goes to a bar by himself to meet people, you know, and I that's so much. That's such a part of the experience. And so when I was in my first or second day in Argentina and Sada's. I I made a Tinder account. I was like, I'm just I'm so bored. I don't know how to meet people organically out on the street. So I'm just gonna make a tender, and I made it Tinder, that's that's my that's my story. That's all I have. That's my funny story from from from traveling. Yeah. But did you meet anyone? So I made a tender. I picked my six most attractive pictures of myself. I mean, very clever and funny bio on Tinder. Thing is stalling. That's all I'm trying to build up some drama here. Samantha I've made it the best most attractive Tinder account ever seen to man, even included my Instagram handles that we could people could look me up on Instagram, and they have a little blue checkmark because I feel like that's probably go far. It's gotta go somewhere. And I I don't I like was swiping for like ten or fifteen minutes like in my Airbnb like by myself, and I just started started getting bored, and I wasn't getting matches because I had just made it, and I wasn't getting any matches right away..

"And you're not one of those solely oh gosh no so sorry world but i like using deans into is a dating app you can be the net i now i should charge for that we'll call it diener i just think that i would rather have rent specifically set if dean had a friend who he was like oh my god he'd be great for erica that's what i would want i wouldn't want like random yucky dudes sliding into my dm's get the heck outta here in that same logic applies for the opposite sex as well i don't wanna say random sloppy dudes random sloppy girl setting in his the emma's but the average woman who might be fall i don't know it's different though women don't want random yucky dudes guys occasionally like a random yucky girl chan that's know fair point some days that's what they're into so dean what's the rest of your day look like the rest of my day today the two of you oh well i was supposed to be getting lynch with my former boss but he canceled on me and scheduling for tomorrow that jerk and then we're just going to go home and go back to the jim we're doing today's wow i in the morning and right before bed right he dina's dean's a little weird though he likes to yeah he likes to go to the gym around ten pm which for me i'm like winding down right because if i'm not using beach body i like to go to the gym when it's less crowded all the machines are free i don't have to worry about but i still feel like even eight pm would would do though if not it's not a gold it's very cut it all the time.

"And we hope that you listen to the podcast because we appreciate you listen at nine we do lots to learn all right i'm trying to suck less at dating so there you go there you go that's all we can all hope did you feel like it lowered the bar for dean a little bit like he's gonna suck dating and then turns out he's not that's true i guess i was in his his advantage i don't know advantage yeah it's all all come expectations were low so he believed those out of the water i don't i don't i mean i don't hate that but i don't like it it's just a it's just false do you wanna know something on some of my expectations that are low outside of this relationship are usually my workout goals but i still i still do my best to try as hard as possible to make sure that i'm reaching those workout goals and i think one of the issues that i struggle most with is just getting my butt up out the door into the gym so one way that i've learned to kind of curb that and get away from that whole process logistical nuisance of even getting there is just using beach body on demand have you heard of beat buddy on demand i have i think i think it'd be really good for you because even this morning it was what seven thirty and i was like dean i wake up jam jam right and then i was like i don't want to go to the gym so what we did instead of going to the gym was just turn on beach body on demand on our tv and living room it's pretty it's pretty great it's it's basically an online fitness streaming service that gives you unlimited access to variety of highly effective worldclass workouts at their personalized to meet your needs so whether you want to burn some.
