A Bold Eastern Conference Prediction for 2021
"Right. Okay, let's go to the East and I Toronto have they fallen out of your thing. Now. This is not a check it out. It's all depend on you mad though. They hate monkeys. I'm going to give it to Brooklyn. Number one, right number two. I think Milwaukee close to a similar winning percentage. We saw last year's. The number to write you know, but 3 I'm going to go Miami Miami was fifth last year people forget. So that's a big Improvement to go from victim. I just I'm I don't know. How long would you know about that even Bradley. I think that's a good addition bamas help games healthy. I think he maybe he makes another stride Tyler hero, I think makes another stride Off the Bench Duncan Robinson. I like those guys. Okay, I like those guys are gonna put me on and then you got Jimmy Butler. Who's there? Jimmy Butler still Jimmy, but then you lose Jae Crowder you lose trying to but I like I like Bradley with those shooters that I just mentioned or those scores because he's going to get so many open shots your next until I hear all your next to Duncan Robinson. You can't leave them open. Anyway behind that heart all the money in the world and you got Defenders on the other end. That'll just say like, okay, so all right. That's three four. I'm going Philly Celtics fan. I can't put Boston over Philly. I can't I see. Okay. You got your birth. No, Seth Curry, Danny Green who will defend his ass off on the other end. And then you got it back up for Joel and B-Max Dwight Howard show that he can be serviceable a second Main Service back, but not until you tell me what Simmons is going to do and how he's going to play. I can't I can't buy into that. You're the one who took back is going to make him shoot on that Rhonda Rhonda back is going to make him shoot and we just watch the exhibition game with him. And when he did he's going to marry me pull-up three-pointers. I think one he wasn't even here's the thing about it wasn't even involved in the office because social media will explode the moment. I mean for about 319 about my thing again with filling if I'm feeling I make that move but I think that's what I think that's what hard would be best suited and they you let Simmons Jersey And I think Joel embiid and hardened together. That's a better tandem angry much better time. I don't think I don't think there's another team in the Eastern Conference. That would benefit more than Philly. I just think again to my point the shooters thing which would be more sugar than he had in Houston. If you really think about it, Danny Green Seth Curry. Okay, Ronda Shooters, you got your well and be Turkish bath every once you can bang down low we can defend on the other end. I mean, they're good team here the window what that if if they can find that one piece and that to me that's going to be the key off. They do art and you're saying you say those four right now. What were y'all before? I just Boston here we go. Here we go. Boss is five six. And they're going to be right there to his Toronto Oakland agree. That far behind you sleep on Toronto 7. I'm going to put Indiana and all the depot is the biggest question Market, you know, he's he can talk to you far but I haven't seen them be the same old people since the injury when that dude was a bad man dropping 35, like it was nobody's business. That was all the people I was like man look out. He didn't gave something when we get Kyrie 38 onetime 38 people. Can I read but yeah, so that's a big question mark, but I'll put them in seven eight the last spot. I'm going to put I'm a while maybe now I'm glad they ready Atlanta is going to be maybe praying that could be really really
NBA 2020-21: Philadelphia 76ers Beat Washington Wizards Despite Bradley Beal's Record-tying 60 Points
"This evening eked out a 1 41 toe 1 36 win over the wizards up by a whole lot more. Early in the third quarter. I believe they're up by as much as 21 points before relinquishing that lead Washington how to briefly in the end, Sixers came through and be with a big night. We're going to talk about all of that. As well, as you know, we want to get excited, right? We want to get, you know, like all in like, throw caution to the wind that should say and then go all in with the 70 Sixers team, but Only eight games into the season. We've been here before, and that's why we have to bring in an expert someone who has covered this team for many, many, many years nice enough to join us. From the Bucks, County Courier, Times Intelligencer, Burlington County Times and occasionally USA Today Sports. His name is Tom or what's up, Tom? John. How you doing tonight? Tom, You know you spent the evening at the Wells Fargo Center. As you have so many nights over the years, Tom, let me start with tonight's game six years held. I believe it was a 21.20 or 21 point lead at some point in this game. Clearly, I mean, relinquish it to the point where they completely gave it up Washington to lead but they came through in the end. Um I guess time I wouldn't want to ask you first is when they gave up that lead. What was from your standpoint? What was the chief reason? Why was it lack of focus? Was it something Washington was doing? What did you see? All the sixes have been scorned kind of will. And I think what happened was when, when, uh, Doc Rivers went to his bench like midway through the third quarter. I think they kind of were still into that score mode, and they did not really clamp down defensively. And Bradley feel You know what Just went nuts. You played the whole third quarter. He had 25 in the third quarter 25. They were up 19 with 2 32 to go in the third quarter. Yeah, John, I've covered the NBA for 33 years. That's tied for the most points I've ever seen in an NBA game. Alan ever, said 16 on February 12 to 6 and five at the center against the Magic. That is an incredible amount of points. Or an NBA game? Yeah, e get six is a lot of credit that you know you're right. The Wizards went up to when Meadow hit that little shot with about seven minutes, having a half minutes ago. And they, you know, they brought the starters back and they kept score, and they got stops in the health field of three points in the fourth quarter. You know and and pulled it out. I mean, they're beating their winning games they should win against means they should be, And I think that's a reason to be certainly cautiously at least optimistic. Yeah, I was going. I mean, you know how many the last two or three years we went through these stretches or through most of the season, where they would lower themselves to their opponent either eke out an ugly victory or end up losing those games and through eight, all of eight games. We haven't seen that thus far. Let me talk. Let me talk about a couple of players on the roster. I got to start with Jo Ellan beat Is this the best Jo Ellan beat has looked as a professional in your eyes. I think he has. I mean, tonight. You don't. He didn't score in the first quarter. I think you missed his first five shot. You know, it was a little lethargic Monday night just wasn't into the game tonight. He was into the game, but he just seemed to be going like 100 miles an hour, missing a lot of shots. And he just He just got to go on ended up with 38. You know, had 10 points in the fourth quarter kind of took over the game when it was, you know, on the line midway through the fourth quarter. Uh, yeah, And defensively, you know, blocking shots from guards driving to the basket he gave. He gave Netto our time after blocking his shots. And I guess it had come like you know you you should know better going to get me in practice. If you know it. This and the sixties, and Doc Rivers is taken advantage of giving him the ball and to his credit. He's taking less threes, and he's playing Maura in the low post and the mid range where he is most effective. You know you brought up Doc rivers, So let me skip away from the players for a moment and go to Doc Rivers. We watch seven years of Brett Brown and would sympathize with him a times and maybe defend him at times because of what he had to work with and what he was dealing with the front office and don't shoot the messenger and everything else in between. Tom, I gotta tell you through, you know, eight games. I mean, Doc Rivers is blowing Brett Brown out of the water. I mean, is he making that much a difference? Well, I mean, I think he he had He knows what he wants, and he's done it before, And I think that really helped When you have that experience you thought with the Flyers with Alain Vigneault after hacks call who was new and was learning on the fly, and I think rep around to a large extent, it's the same thing. You know, he also had shooters that Curry has been fantastic. He doesn't force thing You know, He really doesn't. He gets his threes and in the flow of the game. He's a pretty good ball handler and runs a lot of two million games with oil indeed. No eyes. Good passer. You know, Danny Green starting to play, you know. Feel better offensively, at least, although you know Bradley Beal, holy smokes or cinema towards him and Matisse Bible as And, uh, you know, whoever else uh, you know was on him tonight. But, yeah, I think he has a system. He knows what he wants to do. He's done it before, and he's trying to make the system. That the players rather than make, you know, like he's making the system Revolve around the players rather than trying to do the you know, Square Peg round hole kind of things,

"The windows down. Hit hit up pch. You know what i mean. Strive down towards the beach sunrise sunset. Whatever you want just nice sunny relaxed but the wind in your hair. You know what i'm saying. This is your jama this. Is it right here. This is a good driving song. Man is like but here. I'm gonna give you the picture window down to leaning towards the right like you got your elbow on the center. Console left hand on the steering wheel. Kind of risk bent a little bit. So you kind of have a little control and you just kinda year your head bob. That's what you do to this song. I'm feeling george. Got me painted a beautiful picture. I was with you the entire time. Speaking of patey beautiful pictures. Danny green of your los angeles lakers painting. The picture of the clippers. Dysfunction daddy green was a guest on the ringer's podcast the nba podcast for the wringer with raja bell and logan murdoch he shaded the clippers. Basically say karma bit them in the ass. Here's what danny green said on the ringer's podcast well. They're very confident team rightfully so they got some great additions. Have been different in a l. situation but seeing the billboards united expected you know them talking a little bit. You know it's expected. I do think that when you're i don't know how to say this. I think i do think that when you say predetermine or with. I think the basketball god will humbly. If you don't play the where do the right thing. I think you shouldn't speak a lot of people. Say speak things into existence with that. But i'm not you should copied because a lot of times. You talk a net. It's gonna go the opposite way you know some some way. Somehow you know things. Ironically you're gonna turn out the way utah opposite of utah. I'm not saying you shouldn't do that. You can do that. I don't like to do that. I don't like oh yeah. We're going to beat their ass tomorrow. So to his point cap it again. That's courtesy of the wringer the air nba podcast with raja bell and logan murdoch. And he's got a point to an extent right now. I don't think it was solely the basketball. God's although i don't know about you. I believe in the basketball. God's i believe in the football. God i believe in the sports. God's okay i believe in this cosmic karmic power. That sometimes things come back and bite you in the ass right like i do believe that. I believe that in life to think you know report. You're so right all that kind of stuff and get. It wasn't all that i think. Got the clippers. They did have some injuries to deal with real stuff right but there was this sense that they were like laser focused. The clippers on the lakers. And we beat the lakers. And we're going to beat the lakers. And you heard mentioned the billboards and earned. Not given right. You know all the stuff that they put up. I don't remember all the billboard phrases and whatnot but they put them up all over the city including right outside our office at alive. Okay and they kind of forgot that. Hey there's other teams you have to worry about on the way to the lakers. You know what i mean. So denver bit them in the but and then the other part of it is this is it felt like they cheated the process. A little bit they tried. They only play twelve games with their entire starting lineup season okay and that included the restart in the bubble or whatever during the regular season portion of it. And there's just no way on god's green earth in that sport. I don't care how talented you are. You're going to cheat that process and not gain the proper chemistry on the court. So george let me let me say this about what. Danny green had to say about the clippers. My first question is who is danny green. Can someone explain to me. Who danny green is. And i say it this way you know his career you know you know how many years he was in san antonio he went to toronto he won there. He's a first year laker every single. Time danny green. Put the ball up in the air. I went. No danny green does a lot of talking for a guy who is not really. The spokesperson withdrawn is the spokesperson. Yes if it's not lebron then it's a d. If few guys like for example like rondo. Jared dudley who might talk about the clippers but he also played for the clippers at one point so he kind of has his finger on the pulse of the difference between playing for the clippers and playing for the lakers just question. Why is danny green. Do all this talking. Can someone explain that to me is he. Is he magic johnson. That i missed that no. He's not but he's also he's probably the more media friendly guy. Or maybe the most media friendly guy. Outside of jared dudley on that roster okay so so it's about the reason that danny green is always having press conferences and the reason he's always being cut up and say hey we got sound tonight for the show. It's danny green. And i'm always like to hear what they agreed has to. I want danny green to be in the gym working on his shot. So listen i hear what he's saying about the basketball gods and about being cocky and all of that is fair but i also got to say i feel like the lakers called their shot and they completed the deal you know and i think you're right that the clippers zoned in on the lakers and getting over on the lakers rather than focusing on what was right in front of them at the time.

"Sodano z. here. On espn scotty cap hanging out with us today. Zero be out today and tomorrow do an adult things covering it election. I mean whatever doesn't have time for us but we're glad to have you cap. You have time for us. i'm glad to be. I have a question. What exactly and maybe everybody knows this. And i should know this. But what is it. Exactly that elsie leaves in does. Because i've seen him on. Cnn plenty times what he doing. So he is like a correspondent for them and abc for that matter. He works for multiple entities. Llc like the person with the most jobs i've ever met And i say this in a glowing way like he's got an abc gig right. He's gotta cnn gig. He's got this gig he's got the l. A. times gig. He probably has another gig. I'm not familiar with that or that. I have mrs -sarily asked him about but or that. He hasn't necessarily volunteered. But yeah he's got a lot of gigs men while he's got a lot he's got a lot. Lotta stuff like i'll give you an example george. So last week after the world series had come to an end and the dodgers had one and then there really wasn't anything for me to do every night for for months. I've been sitting every single night. Relentlessly right watching basketball into baseball and then all of a sudden boom it was gone. And i got into my regular routine like oh. I'm so excited. Watch the game. And i turned on the tv and there is nothing and then it occurred to me. Oh my god like the elections next week. Which is tomorrow. There was nothing. Yeah nothing and now. You're just sitting there. You got football not necessarily the greatest football at night. But you've got some football if you're into college you're gonna start having games like you know during the week to. There's a thursday night college game. There's elders tuesday college games. If you like like the mac of your you know i've listened. I'll bet on a game. I have no issues betting on games. I'm not one of these people that believes that Jokingly say degenerate. But i feel like we all kind of dive into that realm occasionally but tuesday night match at. Ain't for me bro. You know what. I'm saying like i don't. I don't need that kind of it or fix right that i got a bet on games in these lower division one games. I'm not into that. I've seen south alabama play on. Espn like eight times already. This season seriously. They were like i think. Espn college football exacts. We're like what are we going to do without college football. And then they were like listen. Get south alabama. To play will have football and south alabama was like wait. We can play on. Espn every week. At least south alabama has had more national tv airtime than notre dame. It does feel that way but the pack twelve is back this week and that'll be fun. Basketball may be back by december. That is still up in the air. The two sides are going to be meeting. They have till this coming friday november six. Th is the deadline that's been it's been extended to this friday where they can decide on when they're going to have a season and look there's a lot of things to try to figure out finances scheduling right like. There's not an easy task by stretch of imagination. I just hope scott for their sake. And i do want to get to this danny. Green sound three threw shade shaded the clippers. I don't want it to get to the point. Where remember what happened with major league and it felt like they had this momentum when nobody was playing during the pandemic and baseball could really get out in front of everyone and take the lead at least during the early parts of the pandemic and they blew that. And i don't want basketball to blow its window because i do think it's important for them to play on christmas. You know why. Because i think roger goodell sneaky goodell is in. They're trying to say well. Wait a second. If they don't play on christmas we could probably play on christmas. They're going to be a game that we can throw on there on christmas for the nfl. And if you're the nba you don't want goodell sniffing around christmas. So i'm with you on this. I think that i certainly understand where the nba players are coming from that. Hey look we just wrap this thing up. We need our time. Everybody's got to recover but really what we're talking about are the lakers and i guess the heat and maybe a few of the other teams four teams. I guess but you gotta think about it from the the greater good what is best for the nba. And i'll tell you this. I know it may be a long stretch for guys and george. I don't even know what they're gonna do next year. Because you suspect that everybody's gonna play at home even if it means playing in front of smaller crowds. But they're certainly not going to bubble these guys not not to the extent that they did last year so i would say to these. Nba players. Guys you gotta get back out there as quickly as you can right. Now you'd be playing. I mean this is. This would be the time of the year where these guys will be getting started. And it's obviously not going to happen so you have to find a way to play for christmas. Yeah i just think first of all it also puts you back on as normal schedule as you can. I think a lot of getting so we're working against the nba this past when they had to do the restart. Everybody was going at the same time right so i think they clearly saw that they kind of got a little bit of the short indistinct particularly going begins football a ton during the playoffs. So you want to eliminate that and and just get yourself back on a normal schedule. You dominated june and july if you were the nba. You owned those months and you need to get back to that. And if look if you're the top twenty guys in the league you probably wanna play in the olympics because there's a lot of branding opportunities for you there on top of just the normal pageantry of playing for your country but let's face it. Everyone likes making money. And if you go to the olympics you've got that opportunity but the only way you can make that happen is if you end the season by the end of june so you can then play in the olympics in japan in twenty twenty one. And here's the thing league is made it very clear. Okay if you guys. Wanna start after june after martin luther king day then we're only doing a fifty game season to keep us on that schedule because we're going to stick to that schedule no matter what so if you're.

"Don't think everybody wanted. To. Of course all. Some good options, but I mean, obviously La is a great place to be a great place to be in terms of living wise but the team wise that's more for me. I've always been a guy that wants to win and then part of winning cultures and You know at this point in my career I didn't want to you know Kinda go back or reset or restart in a different place where you have to Kinda. Build. My own type of you know what? I'm saying organization to build the team up to be a contender not have been tough training, I. Think a lot of energy not just physically but mentally and emotionally. So I just wanted to go a place where I know that were building a winning cultural easier to kind of sit in, and that would have a chance and be a consent. So I'll see. Both teams had some some good things working dowse another option that I think they were really good and it. Seems to be a contender they played great this year but yeah being. They have Bryan Adams. Knowing that those two Peace Foundation makes it easy to animal the pieces that they had are no up. They had last year and that we're going to bring back. Make it easy. I want to have to play thirty, thirty, five minutes a game and having to delete strange about the whole season. We have a deep enough team to keep fresh bodies, which is very important throughout the whole year and in a place you know of some guys high accused that know what it takes to win. Danny Green from the world champion Los. Angeles Lakers is with us mason in Ireland seventeen ESPN. So you mentioned the culture. And the one thing that was really noticeable throughout the season and into the bubble was the obvious camaraderie that you guys have the obvious connective Dennis you guys have. Talk about that. But I think it was started with. Their close relationship and the fact that we a lot of guys. Just catch something I've got a chance to play with other guys on different teams about the fact that we're all been the league for so many years and competed against each other had so much respect for each other emitted easiest I. The bond always a little older more experienced nobody cares about new black leads the individual stats numbers. So we just come here inside to do what make embrace roles do our jobs best building try to win games you know regardless of what the numbers were the fats were. David. Last thing for you, you've been outspoken about this I wanted to get your thoughts on the Lakers are partnering with the Kings the Spark Staple.

"It was John smoltz who had the dominant performances so for some reason, the postseason stop unless you're a big time power pitcher. We're talking to. Bob Nightingale from USA Today Bob. Questions being asked a lot in your world this week. mookie betts made great catches in Games five game six in game seven. The Red Sox to me have always been a team that is a have. have. Not they have Nessin. They have a ton of money. They've been a team that has always been willing to spend how in the world did they trade this guy when he was twenty seven at the height of his career explain that to me how did the dodgers luck out and get this guy in trade? Yeah. It's unbelievable. Said they want financial flexibility made no sense. You know they weren't sure he is coming back. I think for sure that he was GonNa Test Free Agency and he had turned down you know about three, hundred million before that. Maybe in three, twenty, five. So it was no guarantee that I don't think any idea whether you want to come back and I do think it was a great break put a dodgers when you think about last winter, the guy that won along. With the Cleveland shortstop Francisco door they you know in in that package was cory seager in every packet senior offering, and of course, cigarettes coming off you know rest last past two years in Cleveland it really want him in so but they want more on that package besides you know big offer they were making and so once that happened, it turned their attention to the Red Sox bets in Yeah and plus you get to keep cigarettes so really worked perfectly for the dodgers. Kevin cash during a Yankee series where they add some being balls earlier this year said I've got a stable of guys who throw seventy miles ninety, seven miles an hour He's got Nick Anderson and he's Got Peter Fairbanks He's he does have arms down there. Do they have an advantage? Tampa Bay have an advantage in terms of bullpen because velocity plays so well during the postseason. Yeah they do I mean just a Just a great bullpen I mean, you watch the series I mean when they when they beat Houston last round, that's the best defensive ever seen postseason and covering baseball ever seen plays may might this one after another I mean you know we talked about the mookie best plays they were doing that four or five times a game with different guys. You know we'll see see if it continues but they have. Unbelievable. Bullpen just come. Out, fighting away it, what makes them difficult is that they'll come in you know no matter what any I'm GonNa, close, Nick Anderson, and then you can come in the fourth inning if it's the goal the order. So they mix and match have a deep bench. No the is are big everson series I elected doctors. But what is surprising? We the the raise raise our team. So, if I if I make, you make a pick Bob, it sounds like you're taking the dodgers how many games? I'M GONNA go to dodgers at six I don't think I. Think it'll be a long series for sure Let's say these are the two best teams. Tend to raise your crushing. Yankees all season long that was easily the best team in America. Using got off the right time but paper Tampa Bay was much better team and of course. The dodgers. Every new was the best team in the national. League. So the right two teams are in this world series. You know I think be fun. I like that stat were. Seventeen dodgers outpost experience. The only rains got world series experiences Charlie Morton and that. Was On that Astro team that beat the dodgers. Yep. Yep. All right hey listen Bob. Thank you. I'll look for you over there I'm in Arlington. I'll be at the game so I'll look for you over there. Okay. Great Okay. Sounds Great. Thank you. Thanks about dirt. There's Bob. Bob From USA Today Bob Nightingale Great. Guy Always comes on with us. We appreciate his time an awful lot. So he basically said the rays have an advantage in the bullpen right but he's really between me and you I'm saying dodgers and five you're saying dodgers and seven he says dodgers in six. What I like is we're all on the same side of the ledger. Yeah. One of us is going to be right. Coming up this is going to be right world champion three time world champion. Danny. Green, will join us live on this program Mesa Ireland seven ten, Espn Seventeen Espn Mason and Ireland Arlington Texas Getting Ready. For Game while the World Series John Back in La. And we're expecting Danny Green to join us from the world champion Los Angeles Lakers by the way Mesa Green one of only three people ever. To from to come out of North Carolina with an NCAA, championship and then go on to win an NBA title. Do you know who the other two are? Went to UNC. James Worthy. Correct And UNC Mitch. Bigger big as you could possibly think Oh, Michael Jordan there go. Now along with Lebron. One of only four NBA players ever to win titles with three different teams you know the. TORONTO, no other two players. So grow the other two players I'm sorry. The other two team tell you that both of them of the Lake Lebron Lebron Danny, green and two more, and they both won at least one title with the Lakers. "Three o'clock growl Mason Ireland seven ten ESPN I am in Arlington Texas Getting Ready for Game One of the world series. John is back from his break I and we. Couldn't be more excited junk. Can you imagine if we're able to win both of these titles what that means for the U and a great line at the end of your broadcast? Where you said in a world year that we wanted to forget the Lakers gave us something to remember do I have that right? Yeah. Remember forever and the dodgers can do it too. Yeah. So great lined by the way that's a great line the. The. And you know when you win these things when you win these titles, you know people remember him forever. People still talk about the dodgers winning titles in one, thousand, nine, hundred, fifty, five, you know it. In fifty nine in you know sixty six, the white sox one, I, mean it's just there's it's a you remember titles forever. So if we can do it. Thirty two years thirty, two years. Since. The dodgers won the world series. If if this thing breaks out, it is going to be you know sports has that unique role John in our world where it's got the opportunity or it's got the ability to pull us together even though physically we will not be together as Angelenos. We will all be together when this moment happens and I think it's going to happen I do think the dodgers are GonNa win the world series whether it's five or whether if it's we're going to win. Yeah I, agree with you I think it Sir Aaron I actually think Carla is going great tonight I think that this has been set up for him I mean he's had so many people tell them he can't do. This is world series record is one into he's got an era over five hundred. He's pitching in his hometown in Dallas against lineup that really only has one great hitter in it I think this is his chance to change his legacy forever I think he's going to know what I you know what I don't WanNa see I was at Peyton Manning's last game. which was the Super Bowl Against Carolina in twenty. Fifteen I think. The one in Palo Alto. And peyton manning was terrible in that game he was just awful couldn't complete anything. But won the Super Bowl. Anyway that's not what I want to see. Tonight. I'd like to see Kershaw be really a significant part of a world championship team. So will we see tonight our friend Bob Nightingale Nice enough to join us from USA Today, they're baseball writer. Bob. Thank you for doing this man. To number one seeds the raise against the dodgers we know a whole lot about Clayton Kershaw. What can you tell us about tyler glass now the the race starters any good. He was a guy in in the. PIRATES TRAE. They gave up him in medals and a young prospect. You know for Chris Archer, I mean, just a disaster straight. People like to talk about the Delano digit shields and Pedro Martinez. This is much worse than that much worse in Guy he's fearless guy You know he grew up in that southern California and said, he wasn't really a dodger fan or anything else that you just You know hung out stuff like daddy played scores but wasn't really a a sports fan watching games but a a tough guy resilient guy nasty stuff I mean a you know he's he's one of the top pitchers in the game I mean up coming top pitcher we're going to get a lot of body here's. So they're GonNa go glasnost Snell and you know you would assume Morton in game three. The dodgers are going to go kershaw bullpen game and then engaging three Walker Bueller is it fair to say the raise just got the better rotation in this series? They could. Yeah. It kinda depends on how? You Know Kershaw performs. The I mean I think just on, you know the regular tapper starters the thing about Snell you WANNA say a couple of years ago but he has yet to six innings the game this year. So then you get in the bullpen but shoot their bullpen as is lights out. But yeah, I I could say. You give a slight edge particular thinking about a Charlie more I think it's his last. Twelve postseason appearances. Now he has he has lost so he's been. Very. Very good. In the POSTSEASON we're talking to Bob Nightingale from USA Today Bob very few people had heard the name Randy arose arena before the last two weeks where this outfielder, who's a rookie for the raise started just People. How surprising is it to guys like you? Who Cover baseball that this guy he's a twenty, five year old rookie. He's Cuban. so He's been around for a few years bouncing around Mexican Leagues and Minor Leagues. How. Surprised are you that? He's had this big of an impact this year. He was in Saint Louis Cardinals realization. Karnal. Is usually don't make mistakes I. Mean They did all players bear anybody in in the last you heard about renting a re rose Rena, hey, here's his young young rookie that may be a playoff roster in the first thing he's doing is You don't putting on as a instagram the entire speech for make Scheldt. which. Profanity Laden as cardinals had apologize he had apologized You know this is before they played the Washington nationals in I. Don't even think he's combing but anyway, it's all very bercy moment their next thing you know now he's up dropping to trade and they get the race top pitching prospect but you're thinking, okay, you know I didn't see this kind of power they knew he. Had Power but certainly that nobody saw this but he came the camp and then you know how to add a good camp. Then it comes down with Colbert nobody seems. That goes back about twenty pounds stronger. four monthly. You Ain't nothing but you know chicken and rice and. Three hundred, five, hundred, push ups a day and Yeah. It's turned to a real monsters postseason I gotta think dodgers. As smart as they are will figure a way to get him are. You know they asked us work to a little bit degree toward the end that would be surprised. You know that they shut him down. You know we always talk about Clayton Kershaw at this time of year and is the IRA is over five in the world series so far? D think he's This could be a defining moment for him in this series not just this game but the second game he pitches Do you think he's up to it? Oh. He's definitely up for you know someone essay questions a tough. What is like West better for Kershaw's legacy to pitch to Greg Games, and they don't win the world series or these be mediocre have poor games and win a little scary stuff to say always want to have that world series champion on your resume the thing about Kershaw. Now he's more of a finesse pitcher in you know during the during the. Last. Generation the best Bishop Generations Greg Maddux you'll look at Max's postseason back. It wasn't very good just to finesse guys have trouble. So like a great Lanta braves run, you know which is very summer the dodgers you know they. Gladdens Mannix Kinda got beat up..
Game 5 wraps up of the 2020 Finals
"Moments after exciting. One of the best, finals games in recent memory. Game Five Heat Eke Ekit out to live another day and joining Zach tonight now Chris. Bosh. It wasn't quite. Five to Allen for three. It was quite Bosch Talon. But this is up there with one of the biggest heat wins in history I mean. For sure. It's an incredible game. What did you think of it? Man You know I, it is starting to be one of those series that's just kind of grinding to a halt. You thought that was going to happen is not happening. Everything, every player that she thought was going give this particular stat line is not it's not really transpiring right now but I mean, you have to give all credit to the heat and I kept telling people this in all these interviews you know how can get? The Lakers. Over they've got the uniforms on and I just like, okay he don't WanNa be here but let me tell you something. These guys if there's anybody. Who would embrace a difficult situation? It is Erik Spoelstra and Butler seems to really. Thrive off of that and anticipate that. affected. So it's Kinda like a marker will really hard is. Like they say, Oh hey yeah, we're here now. We're supposed to be competing for championship. This is how it's supposed to be. You know is this all about survival now there they've lived to play another day and that's what you gotta do. I think it's time to just acknowledged. Once and for all that, the heat had become a great team you know there was always this question of. Did they benefit from the hiatus hiatus in everything the bubble shake the bucks more than other teams. Did they benefit from hayward getting injured a really good. You. Know this Lakers seem his lost one game in every playoff series. Until now, they have not lost to to a heat team that is missing its leading postseason score until this series Goran dragic that they could started to acknowledge Jimmy Butler. The top ten player. Yeah that'd be we're. GonNa. Have to rearrange the rankings because this dude just put up thirty five, twelve eleven in forty seven minutes forty seven minutes and five and a half whatever it is it's the game you play dull game. Survived forty thirteen seven on fifteen of twenty-one masterpiece from the Brian. James we can talk about the end of the game if you want. Everyone can focus on the end of the game, but the heat put themselves in position to win at the end of the game. Duncan. Robinson was unbelievable. They're shotmaking was outstanding and this team just keeps in with Bam out bio clearly, not one hundred percent missing layups, missing dunks, he can play better he. To acknowledge the heat now are are for real and just like you were saying, they're short handed to. So you know we need to keep that in mind You can only imagine how the series would be a little different Gora was out there and not that he's just going to be that dominating presence, but he gives them another layer. To their attack and you know they have that team cohesion down pack and I mean, I don't really know where the lapses with the Lakers are happening with dunkin' Robinson. He's making them pay every time. I. Mean He's moving himself up into Lee Company every game because you don't expect them the thing you know you don't think he's going to continue to go on the street. He's he's gone on and you'll eventually figure that a veteran is GonNa get into them and just chase him to the bathroom. But but it hasn't happened yet and I mean they're making them pay every single time and. Boy I. Tell You. We'll. We'll see what happens game six. Years especially with a hobbled a little bit man. That's one of the big cities we should probably get to. Well, let's let's talk about the end of the game real quick. Okay. So a Frank Vogel Lakers coach has come out after this game and said that there were bad calls at the end. Jimmy Butler getting to the line I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree he's probably GonNa give find. Lakers lead the Lakers up one. He, ball they run a beautiful fast play for Jimmy Butler gets A. He screwed good play Lebron not. because. Eighty one moving so whilst I foot Lebron on. Screen Lebron and she goes up but Jeff Van Gundy called on the broadcast he he floats see I mean. It in verticality your whole. Career. Frank Vogel helped invent it with Roy but. He floats. He fails right? That's a foul. Yes. Afoul he jumped into them. You know good call by the resident and you have to give you know usually referees are getting tough time I. Think they called a Great Game Day You can always look on both sides and say, well, if an if but if they're even in the game is tied and the players they're the ones who are dictating what happens out there. Hopefully, the game isn't called. You know at the end by you know free throws or anything like that but all. Evenly called Game I. Feel. Throws. Yeah, each team had their opportunities and. Jimmy Man Jimmy Butler man he's he's continuing to do it. Man I gotta I gotta you gotTa give him props he's going to make give him props I. Mean he put them on their own is back in those last minutes. Man I mean, the one leg get he's hidden one legged fadeaway. You know he's hitting the free throws down the stretch to dribble I mean he's He's shoot free throws when you're that exhausted and not just. Did you her second he was going to miss you like just. To, to, of course, you were not you think he's GonNa Miss One because as a player I know how I would feel I'm GonNa Miss One. On. THAT TIRED Like him going over when he was leaned over panting after getting fouled, you know they burned a time out after that but. Just him just still being able to muster up whatever could and having a concentration suppose still had Chris Bosh on his roster. He would have run that play where you went to the back side. And the coroner. You. Come on you. Play for last second shot several times. So okay. So it makes a two free throws come down. They call time out again, Van Gundy and Mark Jackson. Call on this game all over this. Danny Green is in the game with a know Dunkin Robinson's on Danny Green. They know that they're going to run the screen to try to force Dunkin Robinson they know there's going to be a double with Lebron that's exactly what happens Lebron Drives Zach he drives into a crowd. There's three is three and a half guys there. He makes the basketball play Chris Bosh, which he is made for fifteen years since he's been starting to the playoffs, throws it to the Open Guy Danny. Green is a thirty eight percent three point shooter from that spot according to second spectrum is wide open. So I'll I'll throw them another couple of percentage points. And he missed it. Well I know Danny wants that one back. you know he made the right play it was a crowd I. I think he had the mentality to say, you're not going to beat us. We're sending everything in the kitchen saying and we're just going to close the shooters. They got the play that they were looking for. It was a tremendous play Danny Green slipped out. You kinda tell that the heat we're anticipating that play. Brahms. So able to make a very decent pass out the Danny grains got he got his hands on he stepped right into it. Any other time nine times out of ten he'll make that shot. You know he missed it what the interesting thing was on the rebound market Moore's he had plenty of time and he kind of made a quick decision Brian, opened on the right wing, which is always easy to say a new usually. Yeah. You throw it to ad but he had another big on you know and that was just man I was a tough light. It was very tough sequence. Watching film you. In it again now. You. Know Marquee Foucault Danny Green like he just handed the ball to hand off again Danny was right there funny though when he's when you through the LOB. Through. It I looked under the Rim I saw a d. and I thought again the balls just hand in mid Air I thought okay. I hate that decision because ad Mike, I'm putting the referees in play a little bit their down one, and then of course, the pass was that not an accurate he choked right let's just say. I'm not saying I would say that to mark keeps face in this moment. Do not say that Bryant don't say that. He. What do you WanNa say it's choked. Well he also as you pointed out before we started, you know they were setting the screen it they set for Jimmy on the on the go ahead. Free throws a flat screen by crowder and the flat screen is designed. You know Chris knows when your face in half court, it's designed to make defense. Gessler. Like which way to go, but it is an which wishing the pick he went he went from an angle to switching to the flat. kind of this weird in between space and if you don't, if if you're not demonstrative about your coverage, you'll get exploited
Miami Heat's Goran Dragic, Bam Adebayo exit with injuries in loss to Los Angeles Lakers
"Is back in the house. Your quick thoughts on the NBA Finals last night game one laker domination. Liquor shoot the ball like that. They're the best team in MBA by far by far. There's nobody cloaks they made eleven threes in the first half, and at times you felt Miami's intensity defensively laps. Now they battled with injuries to Bam and Goren drugs I understand that. But when a Lakers may shots kentavious pope was shooting lights out Danny, green shot the ball. Well, AD was making threes and one side happens the game is over because then it opens up the paint for ad and Lebron James to attack and that's how both those guys end up having huge night's loss and that's the thing about it especially out in La when they put this team together one of the biggest. Things kept saying everybody and you notice Jay will cover the NBA on NBA down is that where are the shooter's Lebron James Ad but where the shooters there was no real of confidence in the Greens in the peas in those guys to take to be a consistent three point shooting team because when you look historically on Lebron James Teens, he's always had pure shooters around him and everybody was questioning what would that look like but they it to be on the playoffs I mean, what can you say they are right in front of you last night and I can say this if there's no Gordon dragoj on the floor if there is no Bam out of by on the floor. It's over. This thing is over, it's easily over. You could actually make a debate that it would be over even if they were on the floor well, there's no debating. Just. Say Gordon Rockets at. Times during Boston Celtics series he was their best player on the floor. Absolutely. We're Bam, right. So now you take those two guys out of the question only guy that can stop the Lakers to some degree from upfront right from getting offense rebound and things of that sort but he's not in the game you have Kelly Olympic Meyers Leonard hasn't played in a long time. There's really no chance and by the way you have Jimmy Butler who rolled his ankle and his knee twice last night. Yeah, and continue to try to play. In in typically when when when teams start losing players in sports, they just for whatever reason, it just goes
Anthony Davis Has Room to Grow
"GonNa Focus on the Lakers, which as an editor is near and dear to my heart because sharks picked the biggest red meat team on on on the table here. But they've been really impressive with us are there to one and Anthony Davis looks like probably the best player in the bubble thus far chunks. Why don't you leaders us through some of the things that have been happening with Lakers why think for the record this is called the impossibly good-looking persons corner just clarify. For. Their how dare sir? Okay so we're looking at the Lakers thing to me that's jumped out in the first three games is how they're playing when Anthony Davis playing without Lebron on. So that was been their biggest problem. All season is those non Lebron ad minutes because he idea was. Okay. If you have a D- then Lebron can rest he can get. His breaking it as time off, and they'll still be fine. But before the restart when eighty was out of the Ron, he was minus three and five, hundred, six, hundred minutes as those are important minutes Lakers have to win in the restart I mean obviously is a very small sample size but who cares where we're doing podcasts in the restart their plus night. Eighties playing without Lebron. That's just a massive flip on their whole situation and to me watching those minutes was set out to me I think number one. Not Having region Rondo. I think that really kind of low key killed their team because when rondos playing he has to have the ball right like Rondo can't play off the ball Swiss hole in the ball he's not really a threat to score someone's really guarding him and then on defense that giving you much either so like Alex the numbers when ad and Rondo without Lebron it was minus five and without Rondo they're playing Caruso and waiters with a d the floor is spread and the thing. Anthony. Davis. You don't need a traditional point guard Anthony, Davis give eighty the ball in the mid postals kill people right? He gets the ball then it kicks shooter instead of the Rondo. So it's like ADP without Rondo back great and the other thing too is eighty at the five. So they're going eighty Kuzma than like Greener Casey Caruso waiters whatever. Eighty s numbers at the five the year are insane. They're absolutely ridiculous. So cab. Looking at that with no Devellano Dwight Eighty has a usage of twenty eight shooting of Sixty six point six. Now base that means in English as eighties in the ball, like he's hardener Jaanus and he's been the most efficient player in the league. So if looking at those two numbers, there's only been one player in NBA history that had to be that efficient at that. High usage not staff like five years ago. So basically, when eighties at the five, he does a established about shooting threes he's basically scoring at will every single time I think long story short eighty more room to grow I. Think we're seeing that right now like leading a d. plan space given him the ball he's got levels still the go to get into them right now. Yeah I. So the biggest thing off of that, which was great I just wonder if their margin for error is too thin right now obviously the Lakers have been incredible. So let's get that caveat out of the way I think probably favorite if not among the favorites for the title. People like to remind us on the group Chat specifically Chris Because I don't think sharks was. One I remember that yeah. Where we pretty much we troll the Lakers after their first loss of the season and. Venture like the succeed but clearly, they've they've far exceeded those expectations. Great. Please don't ask me. But I do wonder as bad as Rondo has been at times. As much as Bradley is the fifth most important guy on that starting lineup at times I do wonder if the margin for error is a little bit more thin and you are relying on the cruise of the world on the Casey Visa, the world more than you would like to my wrong rob now I mean I'm I'm pretty compelled by this whole situation that sharks laid out like the idea of shifting some of those pieces around and unlocking ad in a different way like makes logical sense to me given his skill set this is. The Guy, who can you know Kevin O'Connor talked in in the restart this week about how? Bam. Out of Bio Converts Defenses Ad in the mid post has a similar effect where if you clear out, you give him space and a straight line drive past almost any big in the league like that's such a powerful thing that there should be a way to orient pieces around that. Make Sense I. Think I get skeptical is in that margin for error and it's in, you know if you look at kind of the core of these lineups. AD and CAL Kuzma, and Alice Caruso or kind of the three man anchor of it and in around that, there's a revolving door of guards. You got some Danny Green minutes you get some dion waiters minutes he gets JR Smith gets in Casey ep you got whoever they cobbled together in that minute in the rotation at those guys scare the hell out of me a little bit and I think you know when you flashback to eighty as a Pelican and where he was some of where they fell apart without drew. Holiday on the floor without kind of more traditional point guards on the floor which just not having competent entry passers not having guys who could get a d. the ball in positions to score, which is it seems like such an easy thing. But the thing I don't trust dion waiters to do but it is a thing. Maybe I do trust Danny Green to do it. You know like some of these more professional veteran level guys like that distinction I think is an important one and probably the difference between bubble seating. Games bubble playoff games, right where you're getting Jr's and the demons at least lower in the pecking order if not out of the rotation on a regular basis entirely, and then you're looking at these minutes where it's you know, Danny Green Casey P. and those guys and cannot work I. Think I. Think there's a chance that it does but I do get a little bit suspect just in the sense that once playoff defenses are really keying in on what this lineup look like and how it works what does that? Mean deep because you know Jaanus has had that scrutiny in terms of a big who handles the ball who's creating for space lineups like we know what that looks like in defense is know what that looks like defensive kind of just been dealing with these Lakers lineups without Lebron floor all year haven't had a lot of trouble with them, but they haven't hammered them either in terms of the the mechanics of how they work. If this starts working, then you invite that level of

"And this is more of the same. There's a lot of people that haven't been up to challenges in regards to this because this is something completely new unexpected and we get all of that but it falls. It's not just about incompetence. It's it's incomprehensible to me how the world could be telling you. A health is in danger and everyone around you throughout. The world has responded but the Olympic Committee that makes no sense. They have the very helen at the highest level of some governments including ours. There have been the suggestion. Put Out there in the last twenty four hours that after a couple of weeks. Let's reevaluate maybe. The economy is more important than people like insanity so the kind of insanity the Olympic leadership is showing is not. I was our world today but the world economy everybody that hasn't been associated with out. Hey nothing nothing. You're right but we both know that they're going to have to anyway. They will have to all right. Let me get in one more. Nfl story here guys. And I want to go back to Tampa's former quarterback Jameis Winston posted a farewell the Tampa on twitter over the weekend saying it's been great five seasons as near all love and respect. I love Tampa. I look forward to seeing Algen February Super Bowl. Fifty five twenty twenty vision dream for ever still no new squad for James. Would you want Winston on your team? Steven A. Yes. I would as a backup in Pittsburgh too. Big Ben Rothlisberger sit back for year and allowing it to learn the game a little bit better and slow down the only problem I have with James Winston statement is he said. See you in Tampa while you're playing. Tampa in years and half the time people they would say you didn't show up so why the hell did believe you're gonNA show up for the Super Bowl next year. Ridiculous statement on his part but other than that is cool. He's what he come out show he didn't show up. You showed up for both team Steven. He was the best defensive player both teams. I get why you'd want him on Pittsburgh. I wouldn't want him on my team. He's an interception machine. He's had a lot of off field issues that would mean that he'd be performing a high level if you want to overcome your kind of ethical quandary you want on the team but even if you can get over that and you think you've worked on his stuff off the field and and more of a good citizen. Do you want all those interceptions on your team? Pittsburgh is the one team I could see because Rothlisburger in certain respects is cut from the same cloth as a player at maybe he could rub off my genus. But I wouldn't want him on the giants and I wouldn't want him on a team that I rooted for I hear you. I just get ticked off when when guys make statements like he just made like you know. I'll see you in Tampa what you had five years and you were playing in Tampa in half the time you know about you but now you leave it and I'll see you in the super bowl. Why would ever want to get you back back? He had some strong statements. And obviously we'll get you up to speed on everything going on in the NBA. Gentlemen Be Safety in the morning..

"Max Max tyreek. I'm having a hard time hearing you but let me ask you this in case the audience is not. I want to focus on you for a second guys who were as fast as you were entered into many of them especially if they don't come up primarily thought of as receiver sometimes it takes the public a little time to catch on. Oh wait. This is a great receiver. Not a gadget player. Not a special team. Not just the guy who's fast but a great receiver. How do you feel about that now? Because when I hear the great receivers mentioned and I'm guilty to just slipped my mind. Oh this one that one your name should always be there. How do you feel about how you're perceived that way among receivers tell the people? I'm tired of Y'all copy as I'm Aquino work on my game on a on a bill. I'm better passage so fast. Fast like overshadows everything that I like. If your best cornpone day no fundamentals. I'm crafty McCain. Like do I can do it. Like I can line up against this dominating each and every play like that type of Guy Tire. What having a really tough time hearing you? Unfortunately and I know you're speaking some good stuff that we wanna be hearing and other football these wannabe as well. Maybe we'll be able to get used to get you out. We'll be able to get you back on hopefully Another day and we'll be able to get the technology stuff straight and now obviously we're dealing with unique circumstances but a congrats on the ring and thank you for being with us. Thank you so much molly your hair and we all know how three times tyreek don't you worry? Don't you worry about it? We know we know we know what you're talking about. We thank you. We got the next dynasty achieve. Look forward to having tyree fach look forward to having tyreek back when we interested in those answers. This guy's all world away. He is grossly underpaid. Molly grossly underpaid. I just want to make that point to. He deserves more money more. Thank you let me be very clear. All right I on that tyreek. Hopefully we'll talk to you soon because we certainly WanNa finish this interview all right. Stay safe out there. Thank you speaking of other major sporting events that affect the world globally. The next question affecting the sports world is what will happen with the twenty twenty summer Olympics. Canada has decided they will not send athletes to Tokyo for the Summer Games and we'll reevaluate if the Games are postponed by one year. The country's Olympic Committee announced Sunday night so later Sunday the Australian Olympic Committee issued a statement. Saying it is advising its athletes to prepare for competition in twenty twenty one the I. O. C. Will Look at postponing during four weeks of talks. The Japan's prime minister said a postponement would be on avoidable. Here's Sandy Morris. Who was the two thousand Sixteen Olympic silver medalist? Pole vaulter take a lesson. In my opinion best thing to do is to postpone it until next season at the same time. So twelve months postpone because then that would still allow all of the athletes to have. Our usual cycle and cycles are very very important to an athlete. Being are one hundred percent eighteen. Okay that was Sandy Morris with her. Take guys the. Ioc noted that canceling is not a consideration at this time. Stephen talked me first of all. They need to postpone it. I completely agree with Sandy Morris. Obviously you have a plethora of Olympians out there who agree with her as well and I stand with them and I think the nation the world needs to stand with them not just America. The entire World Canada's already onboard Australia's already on board calling for postponements of at least a year. They are absolutely right. And here's the reason why I personally spoken to a couple of Olympians. Obviously that were bit reluctant to come on camera and talk about it even though I think they'll change their mind in short order. Here's the reality the Olympians because there has been no consolation. They're being forced to train. Because you can't sit up there and not train and then turn around and say excuse me. The Tokyo Games are still going to go on and you show up unprepared. You've been training for this for over three plus years going on for years you've got to be ready to go as a in order to make yourself ready to go. You've got to get out the train. Argue in all likelihood would athletes. What does that mean the social distancing that the world is imploring all of us to practice? The I'll see is on board with that now. What kind of sense does that make you know? The athletes are going to train because they've got to be ready in order to be ready. They gotTA train with an against one. Another which means they can't practice social distance and everybody in the world. The World Organization federal governments locally governments throughout the world have been employing people to do the same thing in Italy Korea Japan China everywhere. Stay the hell away from each other. But the hasn't canceled anything thereby forcing these athletes to literally subject themselves. Ode potential expose themselves to the corona virus. That's just counterproductive to everything that would be preached about so. The point is delayed games by a year that way it gives athletes the opportunity to step away. Go back with their families. Practice social distancing be safe not just for themselves but for all of us without jeopardising themselves in Olympic competition. That is what needs to be done. It needs to be done immediately and needs to get behind and make a decision and make the decision and the best interest of people across the world. That's what they're supposed to be doing this what they're not do it now. Max. The Olympics is a giant piece of commerce dressed up as an opportunity for a brotherhood or sisterhood of nations and simultaneously. Not only promoting this idea of this world coming together but also of nationalism. Because you're rooting for your. You're rooting for your home country. And all that. It's really a brilliant giant piece of commerce in which by the way you don't have to pay the athletes. The Olympics are rife with corruption up to the highest level strategy history. And the fact that they're slow to want to give up. The money is unsurprising to me. They don't have a very transparent process and I haven't been a big fan unless you in case you can't tell the way it's organized and the kind of decisions that have been made in the past and so. I'm surprised by the behavior of the Olympic Committee at the moment. It's not about surprised though I mean like I'm saying it's one thing to not be surprised and I completely agree with you Max but there comes a point in time where it's unacceptable. We were looking at pro sports. In the United States of America we asked Major League Baseball. Where the hell are you? Are you asleep at the wheel before they ultimately suspended this season at least for the first couple of weeks and beyond we were asking this questions that we excoriated. Ncwa for dragging their feet before they ultimately cancelled march madness. Here we are talking about the. I'll see the International Olympic Committee. You have athletes who obviously have been training for years and know that wants to games. Come on they. Absolutely positively must be ready. They're not being paid the amateur athletes. If you WANNA use that term that trained four years for these events and the world has been told we need to practice social distancing this corona virus is no joke leagues upon leagues losing billions of dollars leagues across the Globe and then canceled. But the I'll see you haven't cancelled the Olympics. You haven't postponed it or suspended. It for year. It makes absolutely no sense because it's very recently space in terms of talking about good health. You can't jeopardize people like this. You have to close the gates. You have no choice. You're right you're absolutely right and very recently even the statement was may well. We're not. We're not considering postponement. It's absurd that's the point there are. There are bad. Faith operators around the world right now. Who operate on their short term incentives constantly. Whatever the thing is to win today and then you worry about tomorrow tomorrow because you'll do the same thing then and then disavow what you said the day before and those people should not be in leadership positions particularly at times like this. Because here's a time where you have to sacrifice your short term gain for the long-term literal health of everyone and it doesn't seem to me that the Olympic Committee has been up to that challenge.

"So here we are. It's march nineteenth as you and I are talking normally. This would be the stretch run for the regular season. Just basic curiosity like what's it like. Not just that you're in you know self quarantine and everything else but just you can't play basketball it's mid-march this is when you have been playing basketball every year of your life or I don't know how many years running NBA and prior. What's what's it. What's it like just to not have the game right now. Shock it's the culture shock For everybody not just us Were at home doing nothing. Which is a rare thing like you know. It's great. That guys will join their families. We don't even get some time for Christmas and Thanksgiving than ours at the middle of March or he'd spend less time for without wives girlfriends kids. Dogs pets Actually enjoy brings our area our city and probably do things that we never thought and be able to do in our respective cities. So it's just weird. It's weird. Was that assist culture shock but you know depends on the person I take all the positives join As of right now I wasn't join it because I was able to get healthy. Stay the work of my body. Mind find new happy's whether it's cooking another language hustles those sorts of things But you know not able to be. The Gym now is kind of rough so I'll find other ways. We're got around the house near the House outside. Right outside of the house Near the beach the beach away from everybody back. Hopefully the sun comes out on the lucky fortunate to be in a nice city to where it's not that bad of Mennonites area so make the best of it but for most people think says the shock. Gaza kind of mentally emotionally Say Dying but early WANNA get back after they're ignorant just like during the lockout adorn new free agency or during the summertime after months of taking your arrests as get back on the court and play only differences. Now during those times you're still allowed to hoop. You're slow down to work out. You still have the gym now. Most teams those guys are locked out of the gyms. So let's even tougher but say take a go ahead and make the best of it. I've got this image in my head of like you in other guys just like walking around your house just like you know shooting at every trash can in the in the In the home. There's you gotta shoot at something right. Yeah I mean they see a Lotta guys have been dividend where the jerseys running it on the core issue with little that's what have with all man-made baskets in their house and said. I'm sure we'll find something around here. It's off on something. As long as I got a basketball are consumed the air Cuba a good feel for the ball. And you know that's what the younger in the in the bed you back and shoot at the ceiling narrate. There is a something that is helpful to keep your mind or keep feeling like you're still a part of the game and the game apart you now. You guys always talk about being in shape and there's being in basketball shape and we talk about when you come back to training camp or when a guy has been with injury and that's a that's a real thing right now. I'm sure you've got the the ability to stay in shape. You can go you run on the beach. There's other things you can do in terms of the basketball part of it though like that. It's never been completely just taken away from everybody simultaneously. And I'd like some who have their own private court or whatever the basket there replace those guys have other on. Gyms and Roadhouse in basketball courts. Indoors is a very rare few cases. But those guys look even even those that have those. They don't have those in their cities that they plan usually have met their main guys can't get to the main house but you're not everybody's That lucky or that. Blessed to have indoor courts and indoor gyms at their own rails. But you know that's a motivation for all of US described Sounds like this happen. We have a place to resort to your. Do you have hope nearby? Danny you're going in shooting on just outside. I don't wear my near my house. New York my family is. There is an outdoor court there. And you know but I'm not able to get back here at the next two weeks early for shore Luckily to happen come back because I don't know if I didn't Expose xps exposed to the virus since we played Brookland Abba Grandmother. Who's older and struggling with a a sickness so my main reason going back to see her but luckily I didn't know back yet again tested. Hopefully this results. Mb negative even if negatives. I don't know for sure Negative would take these two weeks Whatever treatments in medicine WANNA take for those who are infected or not so hopefully will get home the family? Then Sean Outdoor Court. That happened the backyard. Yes no that would be great. I hope you get a chance to do that. So this this strikes me as something that you know while Adam is is obviously Adam silver trying not to prejudge anything as he shouldn't we don't know when the season will be back or if it will be back but they're still this kind of optimism or this belief this hope that eventually the NBA resumes that society gets back to normal. This will be different for you guys than anything else. Because even during the lockout you could go practice you could scrimmage. You could do everything like when you guys resumed play. Whenever that may be May June July I mean the the guys are going to be more than out of shape. You're going to be rusty. It seems like if guys just can't now maybe you're like you said the Laker Gym Facility closed down. It's going to be a couple of weeks but maybe you guys can all get back in there. Eventually I mean I don't know how that's GonNa work. Where if everybody's self quarantined everybody's deemed healthy? Can Everybody go back in the gym in two weeks and have they told you that a reminder ending yes jammed open April first basset that has all determines of so what the results are given back. Acog on the negative the proper steps down before. I don't know if there's medication Iraq scenes or or extra time for those people who do test positive so rocking that outside day-by-day in the results will come back for another day or a couple of days also when we find that out. Then we'll find on separate from understanding the gym our Jim that will do of individually Open or in April I well. Hopefully everything goes well. And everybody's back to to normal there right you don't you don't know when somebody else might turn up positive a player coach team. You know somebody else works for the team. I mean it's this thing could go in waves. Did you watch ADAM SILVER ON ESPN? With Rachel Nichols last night and any thoughts reactions to his did not. I did not get the last night. I was bored. I'm GonNa Guess when when seasons or even other sports in that they're out ALEC dismantling from the game in stay fresh in watch TV series of years. I'm watching movies TV series which I probably was doing last night or sleeping because not much else to do but very much cleaning an organized. My House go. Robot ruled floor by floor. Whatever it is in cleaning out the garage which would probably be today figure out what else basically nation the houses tiptop so when we do back up always have visitors here all the time in l. a. in always people staying at the house so it was a perfect time to get everything situated set in cleaned. But I didn't watch last night I don't watch. Espn often as I should be an athlete in the player. But as on to keep my mind fresh stay away from it but now they have a lot of time these days on the most of the updates coming on those channels so maybe you hear an update me into for me. What was over spokane? What the next steps. Well so Adam was on last night for about twenty minutes with Rachel and one of the things he floated out there as an idea and it's very unformed and obviously this is a ways off if it happens but he said maybe we can stage a charity game of some kind with a subset of players and yes I could see people immediately reactions. Were either hell yes I we need this. Please do this. Nba or the No. That's a terrible idea. That's not practicing. Good social distancing NBA. But I think what he said was with if we can figure out the parameters to obviously to make it safe so that would be if they could find enough of you guys. Who obviously you know most of your healthy. So you get a bunch of guys who have maybe even tested healthy you know are safe coaches equipment managers trainers whatever TV crew. And I could see it. He didn't say this but I could see where it could be in a gym with no with no fans but just televise it and sell the advertising for charity because bringing fans. That's when you start to to create obviously a bigger bigger risk. So I could see this happening. What do you think of that concept and does that you think something players might go for? Sure I think anything is that people are dying seining for sports anything Not just the fans the guys anything that can get us back on the court playing at doing competitively in front of some fans or networks. Whatever it may be. I think that's all they down the court play have fun hoop again And do it the way they've been doing it for most of their lives in front of the other family close friends or even allowing take upon by four that I think a lot of a lot of people Not just the athletes are really looking forward to anything that they can. You Watch C. Play or do that kind of brings back to normal. Yeah you. We're all guessing on this right. Like I feel like I keep throwing up these disclaimers to everybody who asks whether it's going on radio or just you know fans asking like I don't know is basically the answer to everything right now because we don't know when things we'll get back to normal when when the NBA can resume what it might look like. Could you see though in your own as you consider all these possibilities could you see maybe the NBA resuming when it's deemed safe to at least get the players back together but playing an MBA or an empty arenas which was being contemplated as recently as as a week ago? I think we all hope not. It'd be hoped fencing eventual regularly scheduled program but whatever emissaries steps are guys are okay with long as they get back plane. I could see it happening but hopefully sooner than later in hopefully soon as possible. A Lotta guys hearing the rumor. That noise evolvement late June. It's only it's only march months away. Guys are hoping Reno End of April early. May maybe of Dow de best case scenario Dates though taking our but if they have to start back up with no fans then so be it will do that. I think that point. You know Gaza eat away with the excited. You know there was a point where guys alike at fans. I don't WanNA play because we're spoiled city in certain way but I think the fact that we're able to play with let you know how much you know as a missing the game and excited about it. I don't really care the fans they are not. I think that'll be a start to where God's will be looking forward regardless at that point about health is not that long but if it is a long way on thank God would carry the way this did not. They just want to be playing. Hopefully we can get fans in the building and having a close friends in Tampa supporters in. Watches play if we can't have NBA basketball back until say may June. Should the league try to squeeze in those last sixteen to Nineteen Games that teams have left or should we just jump straight to the playoffs using the Stanton says they were? I think too..

"Days since Adam silver suspended the NBA season and a few days since New York started to shutdown world kind of trapped in this strange interlude. But the podcast must go on. And I'm very pleased to have my fellow podcasters and also to play a little basketball for the Lakers Danny Green of inside the Green Room. Danny how are you? I'm good man. Precision have meal. I appreciate you taking some time. First of all the obvious question because we have to start every conversation these days with a simple but more meaningful. How are you are you sure? But he's good and healthy. Yeah so all all good with you. You're healthy family friends. Everybody good everybody's good so far so good. We're also leading back as a group as a team to figure out what results are so we don't necessarily Take moving forward but either way negative a positive results recently at the corner team for a couple of weeks of in the house as well just like you are now. It's it's all very strange more so for you guys obviously so this is why the NBA shutdown right once rudy go bare tested positive. It didn't matter it was him or anybody else by the way that it's so much focused on him. But you guys all come into so much contact with each other and obviously at close range that the the the domino effect was so obvious. So tell me how because this was just a few days ago now that the nets said that they had four players who had tested positive. Kevin Durant self identified as one of them and they had played you guys within a short amount of time so you guys all immediately knew to be on alert. Tell me how you found out that you guys had been exposed and how the team was handling it. When did you take the test? We actually just finished a workout. Pretty much as a group will not as a group but we have individual workout setup. Sinoe guys at staggered. Times said the on the court and in the weight room so a lot of guys were coming in a lot of guys leaving facility and most of us were leaving because after guys workouts and we got the update obviously willing to drop the bomb and the training staff was preparing to take steps Lord We're GONNA do the next steps in the scheduled it'll be for the next day is usually schedule. Are Your workout time distant Now next two weeks tomorrow is not mandatory but we highly Jesse. She has coming. You tested which we did so yesterday morning. We get tested in the gym. Shut down for the next two weeks but we were most of us were in the gym or facility when we lose and as far as you know none of your teammates had been feeling symptoms. As far as I know. Muslims have been fine. I think some of US had a couple of random little headaches or some of the coaches might ahead and we'll fever or flu and Muslim has gotten over at this point. I don't think anybody's sick at this point so I think is that I feel find But you never know with this virus so looks like you can be symptomatic. And they're not even that you have with any without any illness so we'll find out the next couple of days. Now that's the scary part and we've been keeping to ourselves me and my family here just because you don't know if you're a carrier or not and you don't know who else is and so it's just it's just the wise way to go. I mean listen on the one hand this virus to an extent. It's scary because of all the knowns and we're now starting to hear more stories about it can affect deeply impact even younger people's not just old people who are at risk on the other hand you know listen to a lot of people have had very mild symptoms. So it's it's hard to know but when you find out immediately that was very recent that you were in contact with the nets. Who who had our our guys reacting to. That is a scary moment. Is it just a little unsettling and no okay? Guess we're all GonNa have to self quarantine now like how? What's the reaction among the group like well? We didn't know the process of the steps. Were we just knew that? A Lotta guys were planning Have Clearance to leave and go back home or you know. Go where we wanted to know so a lot of guys were? I guess that was part. Part of good news excited about that part of the once And also excited to be back in the gym and just working now But once we got the news it was Kinda like. Oh man you just seeing the light into the tunnel now. These stuck here for two weeks can go anywhere in my mind. I thought we could possibly work out and get in the gym. But after finding out that the gym shutdown. We can't be at the gym all individually as a group or just on our own made it even tougher. We stuck in the house and so it was kind of a blow. Another blow for all of us individually in groups But you know it's a family time. It's a good way to figure out you know new hobbies or get some stuff around For as much what we've been doing anything. Enjoy my time with dogs here. My girlfriend cleaning organizing house. Luckily beat so I wanted to China. Get over that way and get some work In the House I could make the best that you can. You're you're somewhere there in the South Bay in La Yes so that's like the benefit of that where you could just go out and you could still be social distancing not be anywhere near anybody but still be out there. I'm envious at a time like now because I lived. I lived in Hermosa beach before I moved to New York. I it's I'm wishing I had that available to me right now. It's a nice area again. It's not a better. It'd be stuck so even though the weather hasn't been that great lately it's been raining here A lot yesterday was a Nazi sunny today. But hopefully the sun will come out go to necking get some race just walking around outside a little bit. Yes what was the cove in nineteen tests? Like I mean I've seen some video and a little uncomfortable. It is uncomfortable or a Lotta guys did not like. I wouldn't say her but it was very uncomfortable. I'll tell you that it's acute test. It's one long ask you tip up your nose all the way till reaches pretty much the back through so yeah it's a. It's a weird feeling. Though of acute sub scratching your nose in Iraqi three knows which is strange that allows did not like it was very uncomfortable. But that's not a test has to go. You want out any of your teammates. Who was the most squeamish about it? We spoke about the groups at a lot of guys said a lot of guys did not like it So Yeah. It was a highly frowned upon who's not taking wealth At all. Yeah so I I I gotta ask this part of it because this has been a increasingly intense discussion the last couple of Days Adam. Silver has now addressed at Michelle Roberts. of the Executive Director of the Players Association has addressed it. This idea that you guys is. Nba players are getting access to test. Whether it's through private companies or other means while there's obviously a general shortage. How're you viewing that yourself just in terms of of is a little uncomfortable that you're in that position because obviously anybody who had the access to it new they were exposed? Would want to do it so nobody can blame you guys for doing at the same time. There does seem to be a little bit of this divide in terms of who has access. How are you viewing that access to? Yeah it's funny. You said that because it's at a spoke to I think all teams how God says I believe all players have access but not all notifying players that they have access said Harrison said. I think he had called the owner to fight forgot. How IF YOU WANNA test you. Some teams make reach out. We were given a call in forgiven attest available just one test per person and it was whether or not you wanNA take. This has now or you WanNa wait and take it later. Most guys hold my task because nobody was sick having symptoms mind uniquely did get it may not show the results right away because sometimes it doesn't show positive testing even now that we tested yesterday it could say negative we might have it just may not have shown up yet so that To get to use their tests. Because there's only one time test kit that we had for each one of us on so is that is different with different origins different teams but we were notified and given a one kit or player animals. Whether or not you want to use an one joining us. It just like sitting. There wasn't mandatory detested yesterday so I think everybody did. Maybe with the exception of one or two nothing. Everybody candidates estimated way positive or negative test. No test To decide for two weeks so so regard so some guys could probably have decided not to take the test but still just self quarantine for two half. You'RE GONNA work and in terms of this debate. That's going on about how you know. Hey a lot of the public doesn't have access to to these tests. There's been a shortage any feelings about that. That discussion so that again. Just the general debate. That's going on where a lot of folks are concerned that there's just not enough tests out for the general public but you know obviously. Nba players other celebrities have had access. And so there's this does this debate going on. There's a feeling of there's some inequity here I wouldn't say I think there's more tests out there now available. Obviously certain certain people are able to certifications nvidia able to purchase. It have access to certain things. I guess the norm isn't able to get it but I think for tests out there now scarred as it was when we first got the notification of both individual tests for each player. Type thing so I don't. I don't know how the public is doing a show. A lot of people are trying to get him. Chinese has as much as possible but he has some teams a lot of teams. Haven't got the jet last Spoke with as well. I'm sure they have the kit for them. I'm sure they're deciding to wait. When tested in figure that out but a lot of people not just about noble average people celebrities and professionals athletes absent In for testing haven't had access to catch and I'm guessing to listen just the numbers being what they are number. Four hundred fifty players. They're probably guys run the league who have got the virus and we don't even know yet right because it's it's not. It's not mandatory. That it has to be out there. I'm sure there are guys who who probably have been affected and we just don't even know yet. Yes a Lotta people. There's a lot of a lot on known for everybody and everything around world thinking day by day hour by hour week by week and his holdings problems. It's human nature to hate problems. But why is that after all problems inspire us to mend things? Ben Things make things better. That's why so many people.
Anthony Davis scores 37, leads Lakers past Sixers 120-107
"The Lakers came back from thirteen points down and wound up beating Philadelphia by thirteen the final one twenty to one oh seven Anthony Davis scored eighteen of his thirty seven during the second quarter surge in which the Lakers took the lead and never gave it up Danny green said things were clicking does a thing no actually put a pretty good afternoon inside corner defensive in the floor of the intensity and as with its offense of CD got hot lebron James finished with twenty two points LA is one nine of its last ten Glenn Robinson the third scored twenty five points to lead the Sixers who have lost nine straight road games mark Myers Los Angeles
Clippers’ comeback leaves LeBron’s Lakers with plenty of Christmas regrets
"Mantras ends up on Lebron and then you come back down quite got the ball and now Danny Green's on them. And then the Lakers run a screen with pope where I think heartless was on Pope or something and they ended up getting Switzer. They could get Lebron going at beverly and again like I said. These weren't transition matchups. And at that point I'm like all right stop. Stop doing this Because this isn't this isn't fun anymore. later on in the game you know it was a Anthony Davis trying to go at mantras. which didn't really hurt the clippers? He hit a jumper. He missed another jumper. They did an awesome out of time out thing that will get you on this time. Now we're Vogel Got Mad. and He kinda called like another quick second time out where he got mad about something they did and how they were defending Kuwait going to his right off that horn stuff and The the Dow time out play was incredible but it was a lot of straight. Anthony Davis. What can you do against mantras again? Find Clippers pass that test and then it was Paul George defending ending Lebron straight up and it. It wasn't terrible but you know it's not something you do even with Paul George at his length and everything. You're not GonNa just let that happen George actually Lebron did get it going after starting. Oh a seven from three and then you look at the closing groups. The Lakers went. Beverly Shamet George. Kawhi by mantra as the Lakers Rondo Green. Lebron Anthony Davis after Lakers went with their accuse me the clippers went with their closing group at eight minutes left The Lakers brought in Davis at seven. Twenty Dwight was still in. But then this is the thing to always look at. Okay wait a minute. This was a game against maybe their best opponent they went with. Anthony Davis the five with those five minutes to go. Oh and I mentioned all of those matchups they're a little bit earlier The outta time out was awesome. It was a hand off where it was like a ball reversal van. Gundy mentions handoff. Lebron gets at the AD slips screen donkey. We go and I'm watching this expecting the whole time. Davis is going to go off. This is GonNa go off and it didn't really happen Offensively for what the Clippers did they WANNA WII really good post where I have these concerns where I go as Lou Williams holding the ball a little too much when you have George and cold out here with two minutes to go to close in a close game like what are you doing any the answers both. Yes and no because there was one possession where you looked like he was gonna run it down to the clock where he had Lebron on. 'EM EYESO- no help and I'm Mike is just going to go with Lebron and not let anybody else touched the ball here. Because I don't know that I love that despite loose scoring prowess But they didn't do that coadjutor. Really good post position coming from the right block to the left block and got fouled by Danny Green it was good foul you got fouled again. He hit all of his free throws. And that's really kind of what happened in this game. Is that the clippers. Made their last sixteen free throws throws and the Lakers didn't really know what they wanted to be. They they just kind of went one on one match ups and the shots didn't go in and it's very important though after after the Lakers get the ball back with shacklock off down three Lebron's going at beverly. I almost didn't have this in the notes and I just double checked here by the way I looked at it and go. Okay you know. Are they going into the clippers. GonNa foul. They're up three. They don't Lebron had a hard time. Kinda getting free a beverly beverly got his body right into them. Am I mean that guy's unbelievable defending bigger guys not that he's GonNa shut down Lebron but he did on that possession and he blocked a shot and my least favorite review in sports is is when the Guy Swipes at the ball out of your hands like science on the Super Mythbusters Slow Motion Cam is gonNA show. The ball usually always getting like be out out of the shooter's hands last. But the intent of what you would always call was. Okay if you have the bond somebody swipes it out and it just happens to be that a molecule. Your pinky is the last thing to touch. It's the ball. I could still off the other guy I I bet there's people listening to this that are disagreeing with me saying that it's it's it's better this way. It isn't better this way. It sucks this way. And and I'm the furthest thing from really being a fan of either team so has nothing to do with it. I just don't think that that's really. What the spirit of the rule is and I know they reversed it and they called it out? That's your ballgame But I I hate it I hate it
Antetokounmpo, Bucks beat Davis-led Lakers 111-104
"The box used a forty two point second quarter to outlast Lakers one eleven one for the books pulled out to a nineteen point halftime lead led by Jana sort of a couple who had a career high five three pointers in this thirty four point nine out of Cooper says he's not going to read too much into a win over the Lakers nobody will remember about this Vegas in the game you know our focus to take a in a step by step game by game get better improve as a team you know our goal was not to lose two in a row and this will be the ones who were playing within the Lakers the Lakers turn the ball over ten times of the second quarter had nineteen for the game George hill added twenty one off the bench for the box Anthony Davis had thirty six for the Lakers a Brian James a Danny green you check twenty one the box improved to twenty five and for the Lakers twenty fourth five check Freeman walkie
Kawhi Leonard, Lakers And Danny Green discussed on WGR Programming

Building the Ideal Lakers Starting 5 with LeBron James at Point Guard
"A micro dose in las vegas covering the lakers 'em what's the reaction to the news yesterday the chris haines a reported that lebron's gonna play point guard lebron normally only has the ball in his hands so to me it wasn't that big of a deal but it seemed guinea huge reaction on you know on social media and on sports website what from where you're sitting what's the reaction been like in vegas i sympathize with you john the because if you watch the brian james playing his whole career he's almost always play point guard in the half court offensively right they since literally since he was a rookie that they've had guards around him at various points like a more of just the shooter but didn't have the ball the whole game talked about a mario chalmers even kyrie's who's really more of a shooting guard than a point guard and you know last year with the lakers lonzo is different in some senses but lonzo wasn't really operating in the half court with the basketball ball so to me that's really nothing different about that we've seen throughout his career and i get the way the report restructured you know did make it seem like that i guess it all depends on what you're gonna do what you're starting lineup but you could still have the bron play quote unquote point guard announcing in have another guard start the game whether that hey i mean the lakers have a lot of options not right is it is it alex caruso is it every proudly is it rondo is it even even casey p if you wanna go big in and let somebody else bring the ball up for i don't know that's what frank vogel gonna spend the summer answer any can figure out but i'm i'm with you ireland i i didn't really think that was much different from what we've seen throughout the bronx career all right so they announce halfway through the same demarcus cousins is joining the lakers a dead already prior to that signed jim vail mcgee an in mike you and i both know the teams now tend to go small and sometimes interim any center on the floor but who do you see do you see those guys this kind of eight option they option b senator you see one of them in trenches of the starter is it yet to be determined what who would you how do you think those minutes breakdown between mcgee and cousins i do do see it as a split and not only that i think that a lot of times the best line up through the lakers will be at anthony davis playing at the five in going small small is you could be with a six eleven shot blocking a young guy like davis at center and then the bron for maybe cruising with the three and if you wanna you wanna stay big there you go danny green in casey p or or caruso so that that to me is what will end up happening in crunch time more often but i do love especially for what they got him that i like be upside with

"The Lakers couple of really interesting things here according to Chris Haynes a Yahoo sports they intend to usual brown as a point guard which doesn't really surprise numbers were ever lebron has been the ball always goes through right that's not a surprise but they also get a really good signing I think to me Avery Bradley gets a two year deal for just under ten million he is a really really good defensive player and the kind of player when you have lebron and happening Davis and Cruz Mar and boogie cousins these and now Danny green news are you know what I want on the outside they're building an interesting team right they are certainly what they threw together last year but I think everybody understood last year was kind of that waste year that this year okay they didn't get kawaii but they got at the Davis putting some pretty good pieces there and and as you said lebron playing the point is a point forward for our version I just changed it to a point guard you're the other point guards rot rajon rondo Quinn cook Alice Caruso the other point guards on the roster Alonso ball now is gone there but I do like what they're what they're doing and put the ball in the hands of lebron James let him lead the way you know I think it surpassed the low expectations we had for where they were going to be able to operate from this point like once you went all in on the kawaii thing and wait as long as you did I missed out on those true good waves of free agency one man they're gonna be operating out of the bargain bin but now we've seen a couple of names that we know that make a little more sense than last year which again lowered the bar because of how poor their free agent choices seem to be all last year well I remember last year we're gonna say grown else's zags now yeah I
Paul George, Leonard Los Angeles And Clippers discussed on Bob Salter
"Another one's eleven o'clock this morning news of Paul George joining Kawhi Leonard Los Angeles for the clippers only Oklahoma thunder plan on exploring the possibility of trading Russell Westbrook Marcus cousins re United with Anthony Davis with the Lakers raptors losing Leonard and be a free agency Danny green as well as he goes to the
Kawhi Leonard bolts champion Raptors for Clippers
"Today was the day NBA free agents could officially join their new teams and treats could be finalized in as you can imagine it was a very busy day in the NBA why Leonard the best remaining player available is heading to LA but to join the clippers and not the Lakers Lynyrd isn't going alone is the clip joint also acquire Paul George from the thunder and they gave up a lot to make it happen Ellie sitting for unprotected first round picks one protected and the option to swap two other draft picks plus the Neil Gallinari and another player but that's really what it was gonna take for Kawhi Leonard to choose the clippers over the Lakers he informed the Toronto raptors and Lakers today of his decision the Lakers quickly pivoted to fill out their roster they're bringing into markets cousins who's gonna have to prove it again on a one year three and a half million dollar deal the Lakers also wedding former warrior queen cook do Vale McGee is back and rajon rondo along with Danny green so it looks like the Lakers and clippers are gonna arm wrestle for who has the best team in LA this

"Danny green who you're never gonna argue with putting in agreeing on you're you're a it it feels like they're one like impact wing player and not necessarily just wing player but like ball handler away from from me and then maybe i'm over thinking that because look lebron can handle the ball in play on the post any got davis who can do a lot of different things but you know why the clippers so much more than the lakers right now or at least a little bit more the lakers right now it's just the the versatility that they're gonna have and being able to do that whereas the lakers don't have a whole lot of ball handlers that bill that comfortable with quinn cook you know we're gonna have to see how quinn cook does in that situation i think he's a good enough open shooter a but handling the ball for long periods of time we don't really watch and have to do that with golden state much and then when we did in a playoff situation that didn't really pan out all that well so i dunno i mean i like you said the lakers it could have been worse getting the davis trade locked down in the first place was big and obviously look even better once the warriors kind of had their injuries but it'll all be fascinating i mean i think the claim by and by the way they headed there by the way a lot of downside and anthony davis trade which was which was adequately accurately pointed out the lakers have a lot of downside an end without if they're now the downside of the sunk cost so i don't think you can build your team out of fear that that downside hits right like the third star would have insulated them from lebron gets injured eighty de gets injured they get injured at the same time you're third star you sort of keep your floor going you you keep it florida certain level where you're not gonna be the brooklyn nets the thing with those kind of like those picks are gone if you can't if just optics at that point if you end up coughing up the third pick her the first picker the fifth pick it looks bad but there's nothing you can't build you're team with the goal of that not happening 'cause it's already happened you've already traded the picks but there is real downside an end the pelicans were smart to extend those obligations as far out as possible so that lebron is old indoor retired with some of those picks come to an end so we accurately pointed that out about the lakers now people may be rushed to point that out about the lakers because we were in an environment where the lakers were a complete mess ended a circus in every report coming out with more laughable then the next end the clippers are the opposite the clippers are released their their first of all they have twice as many people in front office is the lakers they're all very smart they've done a great job they've clearly prioritize every they're they're making moves like they were down the other end of the zoo bots move the what they did with rodney mcgruder stealing a four nothing and then agreeing to a contract where they could reduce cap pulled in the same second that they just did like they're clearly two steps ahead they're playing chess.
Draymond Green says he's joining Lakers on 2-year deal
"What does this mean for the raptors Kawhi Leonard for years a hundred forty one million he leaves Toronto after winning an NBA championship goes to LA to join forces with Paul George of course is acquired in a in a late night trade with the Oakland city thunder for five first round draft picks a couple of players and some other swaps Cordy that what does this do for the Toronto raptors who are the defending champions right off a parade we're just watching Marcus all Chuck Wein like what what happens now to the Toronto raptors well and the the future of their franchise changed in about and what a fifteen minutes after quiet and all that news breaks that we find out that Danny green on a two year deal is going to the Los Angeles Lakers so no two of their major presence pieces during the finals are gone but that's not to say they still don't have like a lot of notable players under contract I mean you've got Kyle Lowry Marcus all just agree do you know his one year player option and I think is this past Wednesday you know Fred van fleet paschal Siachen they still have a lot of pieces here but it's such a short term thing and I think that you know when when the when the rapper's when after kawaii and went Masire G. jury knew that this was going to be a short term thing I think they're also planning for the future to in terms of that they only have what is it fifteen million guaranteed beyond next season to anybody on the road on the roster so what does that mean right now they still have a good bit of their core intact I just don't know if they're going to be able to go after any other big name free agents but beyond that their reign in the Eastern Conference might be short lived just because of the fact that they just don't have a lot of pieces in place and and to keep the score in place beyond the twenty nineteen twenty twenty
Kevin Durant, Steph Curry And NBA discussed on Colorado's Morning News with April Zesbaugh and Marty Lenz
"Time. Let's talk about the NBA watching Kevin Durant. I just like everybody else just Koreans to Mike. It's heartbreaking, isn't it sports? Brought to us by fix it. Twenty four seven plumbing and heating. I the business on the court warriors do beat the raptors one six zero five. They are within three to the NBA finals, but they did lose, Kevin Durant who crumpled down with an achilles injury in the second quarter. Some of the fans in Toronto cheered when Durant when Durant got hurt that is his horrendous or years guard. Steph curry, very confused around that reaction. It's not my experience with the people of this city and commend odyssey. Danny green, and cholera, especially, I think they were the ones that were kinda single crowd like this. Check ourselves a little bit understand this is about an individual human being in that. Oh, shoot. He's out, he's we wanted to shoot like that was the initial thought. And I just hope that ugliness doesn't show it so

"NBA writer for Bleacher report my guest today. Danny green of the Toronto. Raptors formerly, of course of the San Antonio Spurs. Danny kind enough to spend a little time on a Saturday afternoon. You'll be listening to this probably on Monday. But the raptors were here Friday night in Brooklyn took a tough loss to the nets in overtime, and Danny sticking around for a couple of extra days or skews me one extra day here because he's putting on the inaugural battle in the apple two high school tournaments here in New York and very cool event. Danny stuck around to help get that off the ground putting it on with some of his partners and kind of then to spend a little time with us here in studio at Bleacher report, we covered all of the the usual basis. Of course, the trade how he processed that back in July has his own podcast inside the green room where he was able to. Talk about that almost immediately. An interesting moment for Danny green. Because of course, his career started out with a very challenging path being cut a few times have spending time in the D league and overseas, and then to to finally settle them with San Antonio and seven years later to be traded from the team where he finally made it and want to championship obviously, very difficult, but the transition to Toronto for him and Kawhi Leonard has been almost seamless the raptors have been phenomenal early in the season. Those guys both playing great Kyle Lowry breakout season from PASCAL Ceac him and rookie coach Nick nurse off to a fantastic start to his career there. So great insights from Danny green about all of that and about Nick nurse and how he's doing so far we talk a lot about pop and the things that, you know, about pop from from a player perspective that I think a lot of us on the outside. Don't get a full view of in can't really appreciate. And and we talked a little bit about co about Danny being the kind of the the go-to Kawai whisperer not that it's a role that he wanted. But when you get traded with the guy, and you're spent that much time, and obviously not the easiest guy to read you kind of fall into that role. So we cover all that much more. We'll get to that in just a minute my weekly plug plea request. Please subscribe on apple podcasts or wherever you'd like to get podcasts. "Your version of this play because i need some therapy because i'm a spurs fan we talk about it all the time but obviously led to the rail and shot the greatest clutch shot i have ever witnessed so walk me through that play lebron takes three to tie and you're underneath what what what are your memories so how do you remember it i just want to i know my count bookcase lebron missed ball what would i remember the most is tim duncan is not in the basketball game for reasons i still don't quite comprehend but it was defensive matchups where they wanted danny green on lebron danny green took off running but the point was that that you go up over like gino bleed there's there's nobody inside as big as yours tall as you are and you snatch the basketball and make a great find and feed to the corner which which was very clever in poised on your part to find ray who had to hustle all the way back from underneath to try to get his feet back across the three point line right okay so keep going so i'll kinda rewind all the way back a little bit kawai misses a free throw we drew up a play sports play in time out before we out and is a play we had run many many times and we came down all i remember i remember tony parker sorry being the clever player he is i i was supposed to screen him flare screen and come back and set a screen wide open three he stayed on top of the screen he read the place stayed on top of the screen therefore lebron propped out further a little bit to get the ball.
