"Back to mike bagley aiming towards the finish line on this week's nascar alive just an all. Geyer is one of those recognizable names in the nascar. Xfinity series and woody. Cain had a chance to sit down and talk. Martinsville with the nascar xfinity series veteran. The atlanta winner fresh off an off week. But i know he wanted to be on that dirt track bristol. Now you head to martinsville where you were runner up last time we were there and it seems like the calendar and the stats and everything are lining up for you. How do you feel feel a lot better right now than i did. At the beginning of season obviously we fired off out of the gates in the beginning of twenty twenty one and we just. We were terrible. We fought just everything. You can possibly come up with the fight. We fought a busy mike. So it's nice hewlett tennessee's around obviously to victory lane atlanta was awesome to That was the first time. I've had Echo park on the car so to take in victory lane in the nba. Fifty was really obviously really special You mentioned the dirt. I'm super bombed the community series. Didn't go to the dirt track of bristol. That's eight number one. When i grew up on race and under but number two not only did we not get the race but we also missed out on a grace track. Bridgestone cubic right Going to a staunch disappointing. Just because i felt like we had a great shot to to maybe take victory on their Dirt asphalt so we we go into martinsville obviously dash for cash weekend. So being able to qualify for that huge. Thanks affinity for for what they do in that regard as far as Reinvesting into the into the teams in the organizations that support the series on the basis in. It means a lot to all of us and then as you mentioned i finished second day last year however i think the force that are in the dash for cash we finished one two three and a gentleman who was leading the race and had a flat tire right towards the end and in wasn't able to To battle it out for win. So i'm not sure if you could pick any for that have a better shot at martinsville villain in going for that. That grandfather clock but most importantly to cash money before we look ahead. Let's look back a little bit that atlanta race. Even though it was only a couple of weeks it seems like longer than that now but everybody was focused on the whole noah greg's and daniel henrich scrap and true excess really good. Meanwhile you're just okay. You guys do that. Go on and win. I mean it kind of feel like y'all have your fun. I'm going to victory lane now. Honestly that was one of the commerce. Is i feel like i've i've been able to part for for myself. You know we. We've we fired off right out of the box. And i felt like we were. We were good. We weren't as good as we wanted to be but we were good. We made good chain all day and really what it comes down to. You know with with no practice. No qualifying you have to fire off strong but you also have to be really good on the back end with the changes in your pit crew lights out. We gain spots on every time we made a just the car ultimately helped propel us to to having a better a better car so i think that was a big part of it. You know we gotta gift when martin's on obviously that helped tremendously but on the other hand You know. I felt really good about the fact that you know as he came back through the field and got back to the race you know. When when he closed the gap we were able to kinda push a little bit harder. Those last ten or twelve laps or so in income poll a little bit of a gap in else huge from from the driver standpoint. Absolutely one of the one of the bigger winds and just for the simple fact that we executed all day perfectly. Things went the way we needed to go and that just days don't happen very often. No they really don't mention got got a break there. But you've had some times to you and almost anybody else who's race where you felt like you had the best car and it didn't work out for you for one reason or another so that stuff kind of has way of evening out but looking ahead to martinsville the cookout two fifty s under the lights and that's got to give you a little something extra there doesn't it it does- martinsville's obviously a great city. I've been a huge fan of martinsville long before they extended the series back. There i i got. I attended my first truck race in martinsville. Many many moons ago walsh. It was actually in that race. That gives you an idea of how long ago i attended a crazy martinsville. While you know my dad and i we used to go there as fans in walk through and be a part of of that of industry because we really enjoyed it. So you martinsville's kind of always been on my list. Racetrax that i've i've had circled you know having a little bit of experience. They didn't hurt anything out. But on the other hand last year going back to martinsville within the community series car having a good car. I think that's first and foremost we had a great great Great kamera and we were able to battle for win late race and ultimately lock our way into that final round at phoenix in and do the things that we needed to do. So i don't know. I don't know what it looks like this time around your under the lights is going to be extremely different in the track. Conditions are gonna be different. The way you're gonna raise the things you're going to see you're going to be completely different so i'm excited for that. I know they took the grass out as well. So i think if you guys are excited that there's no more grass in the nba. But you know how does that affect kind of how race as not that not that. It's really easy to get on top of that curve but that took some guys out the last couple of years companies finicky. So i'll be interested to see what happens there. But we've got a beautiful race car We've got the fight hunger for change unilever walmart plus car so we got all the unilever rans on the car with us and just it's going to be a great great weekend in really looking forward to getting getting the martinsville under the lights on friday night. That this to me that takes me back to my. You know my my short-track days growing up running around home where you're as on a friday night and it's under the lights. I just that to me is what race is all about. That's just an all geyer. And our woody. Cain hear more of that interview with m. r. n. out loud at amazon dot com. Coming up next this week in nascar history. This is nascar. Live now. Back to mike bagley. We're about to head for the exits. This week's nascar.

Justin Marks had a great Cup Series race on Monday
"Justin. Marx's on he is the team owner of daniel suarez number nine cup series car that led fifty eight laps on monday and ultimately finished fourth despite daniel saying he had no idea how to race on dirt after the race. Yeah i mean it was great. I was not there unfortunately out of conflict. I couldn't move for monday. So that was a heartbreaker but i was. I was hanging onto every every lap on my phone tv communicating with the guys during the race. So yeah i mean it was. It was a great day for our team. It really was. I mean we we have. We believe that we're capable of doing great things in this order and it comes down to just trying to prepare as best. We can weaken and week out making sure that we we all rally behind. Daniel give him a piece of equipment capable of exposing his talent his ability to the best possible possible level. So i think we did that yesterday. I i think nobody really knew what to expect. Going into this race but I know that we kind of relished in the fact that we could you know sort of leave our computers in the truck and kind of go racing old school and and you know look at tires and communicate with daniel and just kind of look at the race track and and make changes on the fly. I think the guy's really relished that lead in the bat and enjoyed that but it was really really really nice to watch. It's just nice nice for guys and a lot of confidence with big confidence builder for the guys and a special day.

"You think helped look and help daniel. It helps ricky stenhouse. I mean we help derek jones. We can talk. These guys just helped him going into an off weekend. Momentum wise and bill i i think daniel had something interesting to say where he said. He didn't watch a lot because they said you don't need to do this or watch this because you'll develop bad habit right. They had no bad habits right. I don't believe that martin chicks are daniels. Whereas joey logano had any bad habits we saw what christopher bell said. I thought it was good up there. I thought i could do it. That's a habit. He knew what he thought he knew. What the dirt was gonna do. So he relied on past experience and it bidding. Those guys never didn't rely on all right so if those to hurt. I mean i think clearly. The guys chest aim had a rough race again. Kurt busch was not great. The stewart haas guys weren't really. Yeah i mean so so say it was a concrete bristol right just just for a minute. I think our gone merola runs better than thirty six so being a dirt race i know he got an iraq definitely hurt his chances to turn around a rough season. So yeah Yeah i agree with getting asi. Just because kurt busch runs so good at bristol. Yeah that forget that being dirt but it's a a bristol rates and most important thing a place at kurt busch runs so well at i think stenhouse was awash. He runs good at bristol. I think belt. He didn't finish good and he runs great at the concrete. I think it hurt denny hamlin. I'm still trying to figure out his post. Feeling so there you have it well. There yadda dirt on brisk and another episode of nascar motormouth as always tune in join us. Love hear your thoughts..

"Four nascar. Nbc or social media hashtag. Let me say this the racetrack. One of my favorite places. What can we be doing today. His favorite place. One of my favorite places martinsville great with you're the don't ask. Don't ask us. He was doing some next gen car testing there yesterday. And they're going to be doing some more testing tomorrow. Rain tires bring up there. It's raining right now so morning. Thought they were gonna go. Kart track one the other. We're gonna test some rain tires at martinsville speedway with kyle larson and chris bouchard. Marcus can put a roof over bristol. I think drew. I don't surely is everywhere. But i think martinsville's one of the oldest hold off place a relatively slow slow john avenue grip and it's gonna feel pretty bad all right. We've been talking dirt. We've talked to daniel soirees. Dr parker clearer me talking to the fans. We got steve on the phone. Steve i hear you got some dirt. Ideas You find out in the nascar and i'm watching. That nap partially gotten into some events. Federal dora but i used to watch monster trucks even before i got into nascar and i learned there. There's all these different types of dirt. I'm wondering if they could find another type of another of dirt where they get it from a different place. There's something they can do it. If they can get dirt that would hold the moisture up to circus not dry out his past and i also know that there's a chemical that is out more aimed at rodeo but i do know that it could be applied to a dirt race track because i know somebody who used to work for a company who made it could if they can find something that stuff down and something that would hold the water and do you think that we can have a much better show much more like what the fans expected. We're going to our agricultural or dirt racing you got about you know a lot of people and there's about sixteen different questions that you ask an answered almost in that and then question you know. It's a lot simpler just to go back to concrete. Let me say that but obviously obviously people under we've sat here and talked about it. There is an there. There is a way to control some of this. There is listen. We nascar car. Marcus smith bristol. The entire group tried to run a dirt race under the worst circumstances. Ever ever. i mean with that much rain track you did. You can't prep track in six hours. We've seen tony stewart. It'll dora prep for days and.

"Time Nfl again in the normal racial remarks more on a lot because they realize that you can work on and after like there are least re hat. I mean he won a one line race all than research so yeah. I agree with him. He was he was a lot of work. But i mean bristle myself. He's a lot of work on outside. I mean i have gotten booth car. There had back out there. And then you take those matter whether you are. You are working a lot daniel new around you this year. New team new crew chief. We've documented a lot of new in the season. You have this weekend off. And then buckle up fifteen in a row. We're going to see coda coming up. We're gonna see nashville coming up so many changes to the schedule. Kinda give us the ten thousand foot view for the ninety nine. I know it's been seven weeks in it. Seems like a pretty solid start to the year lot opportunity. How how do you see these next ten or fifteen races. I'm very excited. Especially because or racing saric strong in daytona with speech. But really you know. I mean more raising the john wreck right away and since then is a steady progress. Every single race The last couple of weeks were being attending in the tenth of five. I mean even for the winter. Couple of days ago. And i love that. I love how we are working so hard working. So hard with my engineers. With travis mac and everyone do chemistry on and i feel that the i that is only what i don't my my group all the time. There's only one way to go forward show And i felt like the keeps improving. Just feels sasha goods energy On most fear when i group People might team so. I'm just excited. I'm looking forward to keep making progress on. I'm having more days like like resold alana and if we can do that or we them whether you had any derogation racing expert star labeling you now that's a top five one race that's pretty good average so good take again on not only new team. Great start to the year. Great rhonda bristol. We look forward to our chance to cover. You live second half of the season. We'll see there but yeah mode guys really really appreciate all your sport. Gal thanks you every single week man. Really hope that that we can get a soon because man you have no idea how most i wanted working very very hard working very hard on. How can i can wait for the moment. No thank you. No doubt in the desire dinosaurs joining us appreciate it and the fans you get to join us as well call in one. Eight four.

"I kinda of agree with you guys. It was entertaining. Alright which leads me to my question kyw. Kp our sports moving forward and that's great and and and good from tried to but sometimes his nascar maybe need to too many changes too. Quick maybe just scaleback okay. The road courses are scheduled to be nascar. Maybe just need to haul back what some things run. Its course before Absolutely going out and just doing it and that's a good question. That is good. But you know what i think. I think the road course thing. I think they've held there. I mean they've held back on the road course thing for a long time because the road courses have been common common come and gain in popular. Listen i grew up at a time when people threw rocks row courses. Nobody wanted to see you go riverside for three times. Nobody wanted to see you. Go to watkins glen. Nobody wanna to you go to sears point. Which one is what it was then. Nobody wanted that and then all of a sudden it became. Wow we need more road courses. Let's get more but they held back. They didn't add they didn't add. They didn't add and now they have. I think if we're going to run dirt if they're going to add to this cycle okay. If if that's what we're going to do then. I think they're doing it right one race a year on racier. Then maybe you can add something. Yeah and then maybe you add a real dirt racetrack. Then maybe you add knoxville. Maybe you add outdoor they may be at a legit dirt racetrack and go from there. But i think you're going to have to wait and see. I mean but one slot like one dirt slot not multiple dirt. Don't add it's just we it and when these fans say well i want to see them. Run dirt because they're more well rounded drivers okay. Then let's see formula. One run an oval okay. So they'll be more well rounded drivers. Nobody says you have to be the most well rounded driver. You know. I mean. I mean you don't have to be. That nascar is what it is. It's developed over time and yes. We came off dirt fifty years ago. And now we're trying it again. Is that good or bad. The fans have spoken and a lot of them. Say yes although it what according to gluck spo one of the greatest races of all time. But that's a whole nother deal. Not digress and kick nate ryan. Well it was eighty percent positive for the bristol dirt race so is just among bristol. Races yet of the twelve bristol. Bristol races jeff had polled within the lower it ranked knife. Yes so i think that's telling. I think people really really liked the dirt race. But i don't know if they liked it as much as but what do you think that's the conversation and we're getting off track. Here is because of the height that we got around it that they expected more. And then we're a little bit. Let down see so. That could be part of it. I think it was missing a moment. I think what was great about trucks. It'll dora is what happened. The first year norm benning everybody remembers many. I feel like monday didn't have that moment. You're going to look back and say oh. Yeah i mean it could have like denny hamlin makes a different decision on that last restart maybe then we.

"Get in on the action right. Now with the nbc. Sports predictor app powered by point spat five years. We need a roof on bristol a roof. Can you still do dirt the sun. Baking the dirt is when craigslist that takes the moisture out hold moisture better and better absolutely in the hat. You put a roof over something like that. Well here's where i would start. Is we hung. The biggest center hung television over the top of bristol. And i mean that thing is massive to hang that call it the colossus tv. The engineering feat was fantastic. And that when. I saw it all done a while back and i thought man if we can hang this tv. I bet we could put a roof on this place and so the tv. It's kind of gives me confidence that maybe we could do a cover a cover see better word for it when i think ruth people think we needed singles. We need an umbrella what is need to prevent the rain from ruined the day and the technology is there. I think so. Yeah those big cables and the ten solar material that they use. They've covered big structures before. That's marcus smith from speedway motorsports inc. He'll be joining junior download. Six thirty on thursday at click. He's got my vote roof over bristol. I'm sold. I don't know if it can't be done convince my vote. Yeah the wroval dirt and now a rough. Okay listen to me listen. I'm instantly going yet. He didn't stop there on that podcast. Either like.

"Degrees of like. I couldn't believe it so it's the variable nestle surfaced which incredible and it was something that i just don't think i've ever experienced in my life and i think that was so cool. And what made it so unique was you just didn't know get i mean stage one. I'm super tight. So i tell my crew chief. I know you were going to tighten up at drive off from this thing but i'm telling you i'm too tight. Let's loosen it up. We go to stage two and the track. I never driven so sideways for forty lots of my life. So it's just amazing how quickly it would change how much it would change You couldn't keep up with it. So i think though that was the secret of it was so cool. How much change parker. I think he probably heard our discussion about to speed matter. How does that factor in entertainment. And i think you know. Kyle certainly good points as to why it should matter as much or shouldn't be perceived as mattering as much but from your perspective is the driver. I think a fan. Here's okay we're going four or five seconds slower like how is that not easier And obviously when you put it on dirt and you're sliding it's a different world but Up your perspective on that just explain like why you can go slower. It's maybe even harder while. I think it's the setup so the cars right so you solve all the way off the ground there's no arrow at all. I mean there isn't a single car that's running inside skirt or running splitters. I mean all that just gets ripped off ripped away anyway so. The cars are moving around and thailand. Then you add in those bias ply tires which is something that we have not seen. I don't know if this keeps thinking that's the hidden secrets. We have seen that but decades in the cup series but in the trucks. You know that just allows you to get a huge. Y'all which means how far you can slide it out so you're doing actually more in the car. Then you are going. Four seconds faster around bristol in the concrete and i mean that in a way that it just more active. It's not you know it's they both have their own difficulties. But what you're doing a drive in the car using pedals a lot more. You're you're working. The steering huge gobs back and forth you know for opposite locked full lock way. You're just doing things or maybe more aggressive. And bigger than you would on the concrete side or asphalt so it just sort of exaggerates everything if that makes sense and i'll tell you from being on the inside. It doesn't feel that much slower. I mean it's You still feel like you're going quick at times. Especially when you're spitting the tires from more all the way to turn one never hooked him up. You're just hold on for dear life to knock into each other and getting slammed around and you can't see i. One time i went down the stretch. And i swear i lost my swiffer so i couldn't see a thing inside the truck and i went down the backstretch and i bounced off the truck to the inside and leaned on him as we went off into three so i knew where the corner was and then the next lap i came there and bounce off the wall and then bounce off the truck again just so i could sink all right. I'm going straight. That's how i knew i was going straight. So some of the wildest rate senator bennett okay. So let's just let's just put that one down things kale yarborough never said. I lost my swiffer. We're going to put that now. We're going to put that in the one moment one moment of the weekend that got me excited.

"Thought had to be done and whether people liked it or not. You didn't know which almost appreciate right. I don't need another driver. Crew chief telling me how messed up. This is because they had to change like not. We're all in it together. I actually felt like whether people liked it or not. The industry as a whole said. What do this for the fans yeah. We're not sure they're going to love it or we're going to do it for the fans we're gonna see how it's go and the other part of this. That doesn't get talked about enough. Is we talked about the dirt world and all those things so yes. It wasn't a dirt track. Wasn't this there's fourteen hundred dirt cars on this track the week before. I was going there now. So so it's more than just the nascar community. Think about those late model guys. They got the race at bristol. Going to and that's a fact. Now i know the outlaws have been interest at renison. But these young outlaw guys guys kyle larson and is it wasn't all just for nascar the no two thousand truckloads of dirt on their value. You gotta get some value-added. Marcus has got to get some back and mark smith and those guys. You've gotta give those guys credit for the initiative for thinking so far outside the box but again we talked about it on the podcast. We've talked about it all this week. The gaz the pack that track the guys that dug those ditches. The guys that re breed position the dirt from the bottom back to the top the workers the working man the blue collar guy. That did it. My gosh man. Those guys they deserve congressional medal of freedom dude for doing especially from sunday to monday. They were pretty much overnight. Man i should be the grand marshals there the next time we go back and get to set in a sweet and just watch everything they should get something man well. It was announced the spring race at bristol will once again be on the dirt so now they get to scrape it all up for the night race and then put it all back down for next spring which is going to be interesting. There's a lot of things to talk about dirt. I wanna talk about something. That i think is up for discussion so you go to bristol you cover it with dirt you slow down four to six seconds you know. I didn't time to score. And every single lap or two seconds yellower iran best times were high nineteenth on the concrete. They're going to qualify. Probably some fifteen. It did make sense to me. Is that okay. Should it matter should speed have anything to not entertainment of racing. I i don't believe so. I've said it my entire life. Some of the best racing that you will ever see is at your local short track your local asphalt. Track your local short check where they top out at seventy five miles an hour street stock division. Please stock division. We'll have the best on. You know what i mean. And you know they're going to sixty five seventy miles an hour eighty tops and but the guys are able to maneuver the cars to put the cars side by side to do different things they're able to race. I'll never forget when when the cup cars got to a point and was talking to matt kinzer one day and he said every lap is a qualifying lap. I can't racing qualify. Choose one. I can race you are. I can qualify. But i can't racing qualify every lap and it changed the way the sport was because we were looking to run so fast for so long over such a long period of time you had to just be wide open and the gas we hear in every sunday look the telemetry look at the telemetry. Look at the liberty when you have to roll out position your car get back in the gas race it. It does something to the pack and it does something to your as a driver. And you think if i can go that much quicker to the gas if i can go that much quicker to the break i'll be. I drive that guy but it's not just qualifying. I don't believe speed has anything to do with and i don't think speed was the reason that it was entertaining. It was the fact that it felt a lot like the old bristol. Pre two thousand seven. There was so much controversy. A lot of fans pushback speedway motorsports eventually change the tractor. Try to put it back what it was like in the old single grew groove. You bump and run days and when they changed it in two thousand seven it became more of a multi group track and they did some in two thousand twelve that kind of changed it but really made it a top group jack. It's never been that bump and run the way it was fired. Two thousand seven but during this race then hamlin. Some other drivers said it felt like that. It felt like you. Could you could route and gouge guy the way and make passes but listen. I'm i still believe on some of these short tracks. If you just open up your role you'd have to groove racetrack. I mean listen. The forty eight car alex bowman. He's hung in third year. East kicking butt from the from the beginning of turn one through turns one and two two right off the corner because he's hung in third year. You know what. I mean if you can get that position with a different gear and get up under somebody and then block. They don't get that run off the corner but if we're going to run the same here do stuff. Bottoms deadman's lamp man. You can't do anything. Then you gotta you gotta have that moment and my point is we've made some of these racetrax like this a high groove racetrack or a low groove racetrack just because gear rule and technology. When we talk speed. I wanna make sure the fans understand. If you don't change a single thing every time you go back to the community track record. Yeah exactly because the same same business. You don't ever. I don't have the crew chief go. You know there's more downforce we're just going to take it out. Yeah no so. I went to bert. And ernie okay. You know to to get some information. And they were running lap times that would have been on the poll in one thousand nine hundred sixty nine or seventy okay right. But that's basically lap speeds average lap speeds. If we can take out the cautious and do some stuff where you get back to the seventies. that's that was the seventies speedwise. That was the seventy s race so for everybody watching. That's the golden era. What's more concerning that. It's the golden air or that. Kyle petty we did a little building.

"This is where i say. I was entertained but it wasn't when i was expecting. I thought we would see what we see a lot more with the trucks dora sliding through the turns not what we saw in this race. Kyle which i know your dad has inside guy straight line in the corners. What we saw were the guys who are normally good in cup on asphalt pavement. Were good because they drove this track like that. Instead of a dirt track was so dry it was about asphalt all let me say and this is not to knock bristol. Did a great job incredible. John this wasn't a dirt. Track dirt put on bristol because al gore knoxville. none of them have the banking. None of them have this type like it's totally but listen and that's part of what you read on twitter on social media from dirt fans. It's not a dirt track. You tried to run a dirt race on what was not a dhotran. That's one of their one of their comeback. And i'll come to you but you talk about parts and pieces radiators and visibility and stuff like that you know i go back and if we go back to to the evolution of the dirt car kenny wallace. If you follow me on twitter twitter and see his car if you follow the evolution of the dirt car the last fifteen or twenty years. It's technology it's light years from where it was twenty years ago okay. We're taking a cup car and trying to run it on her and not incorporated any dirt technology into that. We didn't allow these guys that have a dirt car to run a race which was an issue from the very beginning. So you're going to have that other stuff. I think jeff. Gordon said it in the first segment of the race. This thing is turning black. It's getting like asphalt and jeff. Gordon knows dirt. He's been on a few times in his lifetime too but he recognized that incredibly quick. And when you started seeing martin x. Who had run one competitive dirt race in his life. Which was the truck race. Before that daniel who had just been in a car on tuesday the first time he had ever seen dirt and then a connecticut yankee win the race. When you look at that we're so southern boys grew up on climate man. We're go we're home. Dirt meant nothing. The experience meant nothing because you had to drive the car in have car control and it became drivers race not a car. Race drivers put on the opposite side of that to christopher bell. Who many acknowledged the dirt. Astor what three time. Chili bowl winner spun out by himself which was just. I thought in front of the.

"So many things really didn't make an even dirt. Fans entered iheart dancing racing right now. You know what. I mean so when you get that that side and then you get our side in this like. That's not cup cars on dirt. Then it's fall somewhere in the middle and somewhere in the middle is not cup racing and listen. I totally enjoyed it. Because it was it was different. It was entertaining. And i'll give it that. And i think it gave us a a boost and a spike as far as fans wanting to see what happened but if dirt fans if the fans we were trying to attract with that core dirt track saturday night come cup watch some dirt races. They're like it's not dirt did we're not coming back so i didn't think of before we get too far. This remind everybody at home. We want to know. European claim plays paid for four nascar. Nbc or hashtag. Let me say this. Give us your sense. The dirt race at bristol. So i didn't think this was sold to me as we're trying to get dirt fans. I me and all the hype i heard. Was you know what there's a lot of excitement around dirt racing cup run on dirt. We're going to put on a dirt racing. How it goes the struggle i had to. Your point is okay. What do we do moving forward. While visibility was an issue guest cooling was an. That's the reason the track looked like it looked right was dusty dirty because if it was if it had some moisture in it and we're gonna have modern grills modern the windshield so there are some challenges. They are fascinating to me though. You know it's kind of like the old days a road course racing. The road course ringers. They're going to be great. They're gonna be great. Yes i i think. I learned on sunday what i already knew. Which is the guys that run on sunday. A pretty good name pretty good. That's that's exactly the point. Parker klugman made on the nascar. Nbc podcasts. Tv is that this was very similar to the road. Course ringers where everybody expected. Christopher bill kyle larson guys coming from dirt late models who are running in backmarker cars. Watch out they're going to be great. And i think what i saw is kyle's point about this didn't feel like a dirt race and i agree with you. I don't think it was sold as hey. We want all the dirt racing to come here. But i think there was some hesitancy in the racing community about doing this because i don't think they want people to watch this and this is what dirt reason because it wasn't a and and.

"Give you that all right. I'm don we're gonna get into. I was entertained to a certain degree but it wasn't what i thought it was going to be at the. That's that's the deal because once again. We have hyped something so i can never live up to the expectations. I mean that just seems american way. Maybe it's so over hyped or under hi. This is not a negative orndorff statement. Yeah i didn't need cup cars on burt when it was announced i didn't love it. Didn't hate it so i'm so indifferent that if there's a group of people that loved it i feel that the sport has an obligation to deliver. You know another one to let them have another shot at and it's going to be great. I some of these naysayers. Oh it was one of thirty six weeks. It didn't bother me that it was totally different. The biggest thing is much like we learned last year when we rolled off with no practice and qualified. Oh my goodness we somehow race in. Yeah we once again proved. That can't isn't a very good termine in nascar because because we did something that nobody else thought we could do and yet we pulled it off so absolutely but we really deduct the long way to go. Yeah yeah yeah. Yeah we listen. Listen we're going to disagree right off the bat. I don't we saw it good. I saw i've seen the grand canyon. I don't have to go back every day. The so there's a big hole out there. You know what i'm saying. I mean this has. I don't believe that it has a place as a points race. I'm sorry i'm gonna argue that till the cows come home because this was not a nascar cup race the way we went to fifty lap segments because of cautions the way we were going to do the heat races the way. We're running these cars own dirt dirt cars. These are asphalt cars to different time than nineteen seventy. There's.

"Daniel Suarez will drive for Stewart Haas racing and the number forty one forty two thousand nineteen more. From Nate Ryan on NBC S N that he was in a really dark place for about a month of last season. After he found out that he wasn't gonna be driving the number eighteen in the future. Martin tricks junior. The two thousand seventeen Cup series champion, of course, coming over to Gibbs racing and taking Daniels. Right. Daniel said he didn't really have a lot of knowledge going in to that situation ahead of time. And he learned about it virtually when everybody else did. So as he put it for about a month. He was kind of an angry person. And I think feeling like, hey, what's going to happen here? And I did all this work to get to nascar's premier series. Will I be able to stay and fortunately for him after that month passed and things started falling in a place that was with led him here to Stewart Haas racing where he got named the driver of the forty one today and how unusual? Is it for a driver, especially with Daniels? Relative lack of experience at the Cup level to make a lateral move at such a high level. I mean from Joe Gibbs racing Stewart Haas racing. That's pretty big. Well, you know, what it does seem unusual? But there is a template here and the and it's right there in a Stewart Haas racing teammate for Daniels. Whereas and Eric Merola he, of course, came over to drive the number ten car last year and became a winner instant playoff contender reached the third round. So I think for Daniels whereas it is a little bit unique to go from one powerhouse NASCAR Cup team. Joe Gibbs racing to another in Stewart Haas racing. But I think he's expectations are very high. I think he thinks that the twenty thousand nine rules package. We'll we'll help him. He mentioned the all star race and the Pocono race last year is racism, which he felt like he did. Well, so I think Daniels whereas looks at his teammate at Stewart Haas racing now in Eric Rolon. Thanks, the the seasonal Merola had last year in two thousand eighteen winning and then making the playoffs. That could be something that could happen for games. Whereas maybe getting that first couple in here in his third season in two thousand nineteen. The.
