Just because it's so automatic whenever she shoots seeing the students go in sports and it's really cool to watch her just worked well page. Bekker's came to yukon as the number one recruit in the country. So she was obviously very well known when the season began. But to you charlotte. Blake Shelton slammed as tone deaf over 'Minimum Wage' track
"Low note this, according to E. Online. During NBC's New Year's Eve TV special hosted by Carson Daly. The voice coach performed the song minimum wage. Tune he dedicated to his fiance. Gwynn's too funny. Single includes the lyrics like Girl Your Love can make a man feel Rich on minimum wage and girl Your Love is money. Your love is money. Brilliant lyrics by thing. And it says, considering the United States in the middle of the ongoing Corona virus pandemic, which has left millions unemployed and food banks strained the performance left a foul taste in many mouth. Oh, come on people for the love of Peter, Paul and Mary, Are you kidding me? Girl Your love can make a man feel rich on minimum wage. And so that's insensitive. One person on Twitter put it, Blake Shelton is singing your love could make a man feel rich on minimum wage just immense. The fact that rich people have absolutely no effing clue. Another person added. Does anyone else find Blake Shelton's minimum wage song to be incredibly tone deaf to our country's current state? He's yet to address the backlash of the sun, which is, by the way, unreleased. Despite the recent pickup Blake is hoping the 2021 will be a better year. Wrote on Twitter. 2021, please, For the love of God. Be good to us. Happy New Year, young. According to Blake. He's already feeling positive about the new year thanks to his fiancee who released her new song called Let Them Eat Cake. No, I'm just kidding. It's called. Let me reintroduce myself. That happened January 1, she joked. The 2021 2021 is better already thanks to win or he did, and her nostalgic inducing a nostalgia inducing music video. She revisited the her many different looks from over the years, including her punk rock phase. So there you go. So The lyrics, Girl Your love makes me makes a man feel rich on minimum wage is insensitive. Okay, I give up. Quick time out, will be
JRPG Report Episode 144 - The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Black First Details - burst 02
"Hello friends welcome back to the show. This is the g. rpg. Report episode one hundred and forty five little bit weird this week and we knew it was going to be with christmas eve falling on our normal release date and of course christmas the next day and there must situation My little girl's birthday being the day after christmas so yeah we get a bang bang. Bang three a craziness there. Obviously just mitt that there was really no time to reporter Record a podcast. Even before christmas was just too hectic so We're recording this on saturday. The twenty seventh just a couple days left in twenty twenty. Goodbye rents But we've got a lot of cool things to talk about today. I kinda wanna wrap up all the stuff that we've missed as it's been nine days since our last pockets. No i'm sorry that's not even right. That is fuzzy. Math is been eleven days since our last podcast. So we've got a few things to go over That have popped off. Since then. And i wanna kinda look look forward to sometime this week. Mean jordan are going to get together and kind of talk about What games we really loud from. Twenty twenty maybe even discussed some Game of the year options and then look forward to twenty twenty one as Right off the bat. We got a bunch of games coming out in the beginning of the first the new year. We got to tell you rods two. You've got bravely default to you've got he's nine And the newly Confirmed for some of five strikers. Just a name The the big big ones I'm sure there'll be others. That will be unfortunately lost in the in the way. So we're going to record that sometime this week and In lieu of any news breaking. I may just make that part of the normal podcast unsure on that. But let's get into it. I hope you guys had a wonderful christmas holiday I didn't have any games that i particularly wanted that. We're already out. So i just kind of asked Asked the parents for Email confirmation that beginning Today risa to when it comes out on january twenty six that was cool and i did end up much too. Many of your delight. Hopefully i'm finally going to take a dive into these series. I picked up. Yee's eight for only twenty dollars on the ps story. I could not refuse as the physical version just refuses to ever go down in price so i figured this was by far the best opportunity. Get in on. What many consider to be a very very good. Jr pg and at some point. I'll be playing. It don't really know when that's going to be but that's enough rambling We did have fell. Calm day Twenty twenty winter addition and we got a few tidbits of information about the new legend of heroes. Toddle kiro no koseki if you notice the thumbnail for this Podcast are the two newest main characters is a third as well but these They dig use some high-rise resolution images of the to unsure why the third one was kind of like ashaari pow We'll get you later but still no names for these two characters but we do have a bit of information stuff. You see that image. There's a couple other on our facebook and twitter feed of those two characters while they are. I say have that trails feel to them. I do kind of agree with what president condo said last time that at mediate Glance they don't appear to be trails characters. And i believe that lies in the fact that they are from calvert So they're going to look a little bit different and we'll talk about that in just a little bit. These illustrations were drawn by katsumi. Nama and the other characters are from alcom. Like i said the character's names were not announced to this game is coming out sometime in twenty twenty one in japan so those were the images. There were some other ones as well. If you'd like to see all those. I did put up a slide show video on our youtube channel. So you can check those out if you don't feel like clicking through pictures of via the website here is what we do know and i will just read this to you as this is the about for the new age of heroes karoo new koseki beyond the blue sky ahead of flashing light a land. A dawning resides cuba. There's no spoilers going on in here. This is all preliminary stuff in the news story arc. So we don't have to worry about that type of stuff the ladder this latter half of the trails. There is about to begin. The setting moved to the calvert republic in two thousand and twenty one foul calm release. Legend heroes kernigan the latest entering the trail serious as its fortieth anniversary rumors of work. The calvert nation is a multi ethnic nation experiencing unprecedented economic growth. Brought about by post war reparations. In a corner of the capital of a huge nation were immigration issues bringing about political instability. Okay well maybe. There are some spoilers in here okay. let's just get to the best. I'm sorry i read that. And i didn't think about it until just now okay. The command style action time bow system. You didn't previous trails. Titles has been revamped and that's going to set up an from a couple people. Let's just see what they said. Seamlessly transitioned from action oriented field battles to turn based commands battle to turn based command battle systems while making use of the unique elements the sixth generation combat or meant would try to pronounce his last time. I'm not sure how it is x. I f. r. x. i. p. h. a. z. Feel in a ballots to evolve from the previous trails titles. Okay so what does that mean. I don't. I don't know i really don't know how to had say seamlessly transition from action oriented field battles to turn based command battle systems I i mean obviously there's a bit of an extra element when you strike the enemies on the field in order to go into the turn based battle i. I need to see this in action to really know what they're even beginning to talk about would just have to wait and see You will feature many elements you laws. It's setting including a topics system which enabled together until such topics by communicating with. Mpc's out towns tra- gate situations in your favor when you act as a spray gun and that is the The character it's basically a detective. But they're calling them spring and alignment flame system. In which characters three alignments great and chaotic fluctuate depending on your own style influencing various status allies and adversaries and even scenario developments please look forward to allege heroes lowest entrance toasters depicted enrich expression by thumbs new original ingen. So that's that's pretty cool Here's what how they set up the situation and I get. I don't wanna get too much into this. The to emit the two people that you see in the image the one is the one call the speaker those are they say sometimes detective somedays negotiators and other days as bounty hunters. They're up for any job from any client. That's pretty cool And then the other one is Say to be a school girl wearing uniform. Prestigious school visits a rundown building located in old town in cowards capital. So that's the setting that's beginning of it. You can check out those images. Like i said there's a third character in the images as well with the two swords on his back and some long hair but we don't have any details. There is a battle scene that shows what looks like to be a craft or an art powering up but that from that snippet it does look to be turn based. So don't i'm so confused as to what to make. But i'm certainly excited about this one. But the lack of details and the promise of something new is leading to some question marks popping up. And i don't necessarily love that idea but it is what it is and until we learn a little bit more. It's just going to be speculation Unfortunately though that wasn't the only bit of information. And i'm sure we'll have a bunch more but Foul calm day twenty twenty winter. Also let us know about and this is not really affecting us as much. But they did. Say that a hatch marco koseki which is the one before this one and after cold steel four Clouded leopard entertainment will release a switch. Pc esteemed version of the game Sometime in summer. Twenty twenty one in japan in asia. I'm nearly positive. That's the same company that handled The transition for coastal three and four to the top of my head. So i came out for. Ps four in japan on august twenty seventh. So you know nearly a year later. They're talking summer to get that Switch pc version now. It handles the asian side of this and i s america handles the translation available. At least they have for the past two games In the cold still series in the west still no confirmation that that translation is ongoing. That have to assume that it is unless it's being handled by other parties I mean exceed did do the first two trills of cold steel games but at imagine that they are going to do this hedge amari as well and as soon as i hear something about that it will happen. It's certainly a good thing that this is happening and It could lead to a speedier at least for these games in the west. But like i said still no information on unfortunately. The last thing that they talked about was not briefly. Mentioned this last time the natto. noca- seki game. That is coming out in japan for For playstation four. This was the old Two thousand twelve least. Psp action rpg though some new details and images kinda showing the ps p version versus the Ps four version of it They're sent opposites gonna run at sixty frames per second on. Ps four with more vibrant graphics. Not being obviously these are things that you'd want to have updated from an old old system user interface options One thing that i thought was very interesting. And i'm not to say what they say. This game is not connected to the trails game. However the main character's name is now utah herschel now you trails players especially cold. Steel will know towa. Her last name is hershal So what they're they say there's no connection but then there's a connection is the protagonist and a boy from that island who attends and academy in saint elise. Those aren't you know aren't names that i recognized the from the trails series so it is very very interesting and i would be would like to know what that connection is at kind of read through it. You can read through the tales. Like i said before i am lower on the percentage scale To say of this game was actually going to make it over here or not. I if i if you say your day is gonna come today out outs. Action say no but would just have to wait and see. The original game did not look super impressive. So this isn't a game that i'm all that excited about to begin with but we'll have to. We'll just have to wait and see if that indeed happens for a lot of switch owners the next. Gop g they will more than likely be picking up is going to be bravely default to gain closer and closer to that february twenty. Sixth rolled wide release date friend square annex released new trailer for it albeit in japanese and have still not seen an english version of this yet so it talks all well. Supposedly it talks about wiz walt. The country established by those mejia's. They did it themselves to studies. The magic research institute But the the real kicker with this one and you can see it. Is this places overgrown. It looks like it was built kind of in the middle of it are on top of a giant tree. And there's just this tree just going right up through entire town is really cool again Trailer is how long was trailer of about three and a half minutes. Like i said in japanese so you can't really tell what's going on but it is kind of cool to see some of the visuals in action Four it but if you're elected shake those game out for yourself you can check out the demo for it It is now live on the east shop and One who feels the demo before its release will even pick up one hundred mine. Intendo platinum points here is the Short official description of the demo experienced the games at risk and reward system character strategy and stunning visuals in the latest braley default to final demo in this demo. The games four men characters are already other journey with jobson abilities at their disposal. I downloaded this. The other night. as if getting the switch away from my kid was hard enough with minecraft previously The kid did pretty good for Christmas and her birthday. And i now had to contend with her own copy of animal crossing so she and my wife can play two switches and who copies of animal crossing so they can will each other's islands. I know she also got the Spyro trilogy which. I really enjoyed those games growing up. So i can't wait to play those with her and relive those moments and she picked up mario maker to so. I'm not seeing that switch for a while. Maybe once she goes to sleep. If i don't have anything to play eck fired that demo. I would like to see how it is shaping up as will If you've got some free time and you're looking for d'you monster hunter rise. There are to say ten videos in total. Let's do a little no here. One two three four seven eight nine ten eleven twelve. There's twelve total. So i check. They were they were released in two packs. I take them all and made them into six long. There's a fifteen minutes of new footage from christ tales. This is previewing the present and future game play of it Remember this game got pushed back to early. Twenty twenty one. That's just the winner that don't into it's been Hit with a couple delays here lately. Not sure how much. Everything's pandemic related at this point but how much they just wanna fine tune things in. How much is really needed to make this work. Obviously you're doing with a system of past present and future while stuff can go wrong and working Just the way that you would like it to work New genesis the fantasy star online. To almost say reboot but definitely the new version of there is the opening movie for it and you should probably check this out. If we're looking at over fifty minutes of new footage as well mostly the character creation for its but this opening movie You know typically when you see these opening movies. They're using a pre rendered scenes. This was actually created using parts of the in game graphics. Engine which looks amazing Definitely if you're looking forward to this you should check it out sometime in twenty twenty. One is the release date Four it but again. This is one of those. Well not one of those but this is the faa gain. That i'm kind of just don't understand why it's not on playstation four. In the west it is in japan. But you've got to either play on xbox or on pc here in the west doesn't make a ton of sense but there's just things like that in this world that we gotta kinda get used to them. I guess we got three bits of sky news this week. i is. You can check out the fourth official trailer for six defiance of destiny I believe there's an english. There's an english version for this out. Now you can check it out. There was originally came out. There was just a japanese version but the english version shows off of really cool voices that they've got for the game. They got some good voice. Talent in this one in Very fitting for the series especially the little reincarnated pug services is awesome It's about seven or review of the game If you are curious about what's going on in this one changes that they've made this series. You will definitely want to check it out. Of course it doesn't come out in the west until summer. Twenty twenty one. Japan is going to get it in right about a month on january. The twenty eighth The other day actually. This was on christmas eve that this news broke New punchy released some new information screenshots for the game featuring and i hope i get these names right la haro aetna and flown Those were the original characters from the original the sky and they are saying that Basically once you beat the game you can Play a scenario with these original characters in it so kind of a you know. They're not in the main game this something post post content but the fact that they're in their would open the door to other characters popping up from other games as well. So that's a cool thing The world inside of an item. I m worlds have mended. Detailed in this article on worlds are divided into several fours slash layers and the items level increases with every four. That you clear says weapons become stronger as they level up. You can clear there either. Worlds to power them up once. An item is leveled up. You can get the same item at the same level from then on pretty cool feature of the sky series all these images i took input into a slide show. You can check that out on our youtube channel so you can dispatch companions into item worlds to research them. There's a new team attack system with up to ten characters in it. That's a pretty cool feature. New enemies were detailed There's a new horsemen. That's pretty crazy. So here's the Previous protagonist Oh here we go says not only will hear from. Our doctors appear the protagonist in heroines of the sky. Two three four and five will also appear in three d. The protagonist and heroines wilburs as downloadable content sometime after the launch of disguise six. So there's a from the sky to or i don't know in timika these pronunciations. I'm at risk of offending people. I understand how they're supposed to be pronounced So yeah they're gonna add them in there as as post content deal see. That's the type of thing. Like i would think you'd be okay with paying for because that's obviously not a part of disguise six. They are previous games characters in new content. So take how you feel about. Dlc that is that's one thing i think is is no k To do speaking of all those previous disguised characters they are all assembled in the rpg. Mobile game And we got news from bolt chain games that they will release worldwide the mobile version the sky arc in spring. Twenty twenty one Unless you're in these countries in the no fast if you are but we are a western primarily focused podcasts. Brazil australia and the philippines sometime in january so really happy to see this thing go worldwide. There was a global announced trailer for it This came back It came back in march of twenty nineteen in japan. So sometime around two thousand and two, thousand five moved up here. And I found myself. Here. To sort of blend in. Oh Yeah Oh. Yeah. And and you say you're from southern California originally like a like Los Angeles or or. Montebello okay. And now A. End, up actually working for the postal service. Honestly. I was laid off in rather time the pandemic. was. Gaining momentum. and. I was desperately looking for work and I I had heard this echoing my head, my mom's voice. You know like you should go work work at the post office like your uncles grandfather. Finally listen to the voice. And Sure Enough I. went onto the USPS site. And, saw their openings locally and swint for and they ask for references. Internal references and. Plugged in some family members names, and I was pretty much and within twenty four hours. In the family. It's a family business. It really is. Yeah. How many of your other family members worked for the postal service that are alive to? But. But it's it's been like kind of multigenerational thing or it has absolutely. Is there. Is there something about the post office or the Postal Service that has been? particularly. Peeling I'm guessing in some ways it's because it's eighth always there be. It. You know like they're always jobs in the postal. I. I just Kinda remember Hollywood shuffle under if you've seen that movie Robert Townsend movie. where? Kind of what you're saying is one of the themes in the movie that. His family's like A. Get A job. The Postal Service it's it's you know it's it's a secure job. You know it's comfortable. It's something which you can rely on and Robert Townsend characters like I wanna be a star in Hollywood but you know as a black actor in Hollywood. You gotta deal with a whole lot of bullshit and movies about the bullshit and. Kind of like you know no spoilers or yes boilers. Movement. You haven't seen it. You should see it but. In the end in the end, actually the post service ends up being a where he lands and and you know he's it's sort of like a celebration affected like you can still do when you dream of but other things can also be part of that dream and anyway I'm kind of curious if if that's kind of the story of how how like your uncles and other folks in working for the post office to. For my grandfather. I believe he went in right after he was discharged from the military e- so he. He had served in the Cold War came back They relocated to Daly City from Dallas. and. I think he that's it hired pretty much on the spot. And it's still the case to this day So he he was there until I moved up here. And two, hundred five. I remember him getting village. One Am and coming home. And afternoon. He. Yeah it's interesting my Uncle Sam deal with him in Minneapolis. He got out of the Air Force and became a carrier pretty much immediately. And my uncle Kennedy in. Hawaii. I think he started in Minneapolis, but then transferred to Hawaii, which is apparently. The most requested transfer. Why And he's been a mechanic for. Sixty years. He's he's been there for a long time I. Think he's been here the longest. Everyone fixing like postal trucks, postal trucks, the machinery he's he's really handy guy i. mean he used to build birdhouses? Similar skills I guess.

Join Us in Prayer for Our Nation

The issues we face range from essential to non-essential on essential matters, we should mourn deception and vowed to fight. For the truth on non essential matters we should mourn and hope to overcome division God's people can neither stay on the sidelines nor run away from the struggle instead knowing there is no hope other than Christ. We must ask onto mercifully powerfully mobilize us is people to advance that which is true and good if Christians are to speak with clarity courage and confidence and to be the. "Back to Daly. Brett I'm Deepak Chopra. Series is. Synchronous knee and the spontaneous with of desire. And what I call. Living Sing credentials. The principle of synchronous knee is found in the Sutra. Humber mass me. Translated the core of my being the ultimate reality. The root and ground of the universe. This source of all that exists. So what is the core of being coding being is pure consciousness before it modifies itself into expense. This essential quarterback being Modifies itself into sensations sense perceptions, images feelings thoughts. That we ultimately experience. As a mind body, and what recall the physical universe? which is really the interpretation of perception activity human perceptual activity? And of course. In. The human brain. Awebber when you make the statement the goal. is the ultimate reality. You're already acknowledging the underlying intelligence at the core of all bodies your body by body. And ultimately anything that we call a physical object in other words the entire universe. Body. The planetary body. The universal buddy that intuit's everything from subatomic particles. To Stars in galaxies in everything in between. Let's call this the conscious intelligent field of the universe. The universal consciousness the spring of the Moss. It is the extended body that we all share. Are All started spinks recycling as body mind and planet. You and I are localized bodies and the universe. Are, exactly the same unified process. Thoughts wishes dreams is is. Also part of the activity of the universe. How could they not be? Because everything that we're talking about is contained in the universe, including thoughts wishes dreams is is. Because the nature of ornamented reality is bureau consciousness. So when you realize this, this realization allows us to relinquish control and allow your miraculous life to unfold, you realize. That the universe is unfolding through you spontaneously without resistance. That at at the deepest level. That is only universal. Activity or universal, process. That all you have to do is not interfere. Allow everything to unfold. The Sutra sound simple yet can take a lifetime to comprehend its meaning once again. The meaning is a Roma's me on means I. AM Roma's me means. The universe! Once, we understand this everything becomes possible. Because everything exists within weeks. Within does mean within the body. Within means within consciousness, even the body is experienced. In consciousness.

About that because I don't have to be in front of a green screen for the first time in months, so this has been Anyway I thought it was a great experiment I'll see you guys. On Thursday! Jimmy. Do ten episodes, but now. I guess we probably should have thought about that of at least doing the second the players club this week. I still call it the players because I got a text message coming in from our guest. terrific Our guest is actually running late as well so that is a perfect works. worked out well for us. Jimmy yes, so we both have these green screen things two different kinds as do I yes? Have you gotten good at folding them? I appreciate you asking that because I'm GonNa, tell you something so the other one the one that is about the size of a billiard table. Yeah, right, so matt. BELKNAP leaves it here in the studio for me and he said. Good luck folding this. It took me hours or something like you said something. I said I'm going to give you a tutorial. Because I had to ask Elliott for a tutorial and then I watched a youtube video on. Explain in words so all right, so so that's it so I set it up for the first week and I put it up and You know it does what it does is. It doesn't get close enough to my fucking wall. Everything is a disaster with the with where my desk is position in office so then we wrap up and I have my usual winedown I. Put some music on I start cleaning up. The okay microphone gets slide you over to the side headphones put away and so forth, and then it was time for the green screen to go away and I folded that thing. In four seconds really. Cut To last week. Set the thing up. Forty five minutes. Where's the fucking video? I had to go on Youtube and look for that video, and even though that guy shows you how to do it, he goes you. Just grab grab here and pole and make it a little soft Taco full again and then across your arms and. Even that took it took me a fricken. Our full the thing, the second time I, I was having the same trouble as you. Because every other time I would do it right and every other time. I couldn't do it. Yeah, and I finally figured out the crossing arms thing. Fuck that noise. Yeah, so you do the TACO thing. Yeah, and then you have that sort of curve up and down. Those those come in. And the whole thing just folds on itself, and I could demonstrate probably, and I will probably fuck it up. Easy. But it's the same. It turns out. Shame principle. And with the with the rectangular. When you just do with the wide way, right, you're basically making one circle or oval, or whatever the shape is into three right I mean is that the physics of it is more like four? See that's I mean when I think about it too much. It starts to hurt my brain, but that, but I I sort of realized because I had the same thing I did it with no help immediately or twice, and then completely lost the ability to do it ship I hadn't done it the first time, and it was like I was just winging it, and then somehow winging, it stopped working, and then I had to like really buckle down. I hadn't brought up because I wanted to bring it up on the show about how that first time was like. Putin you're out of your mind. Why do you have to look at a video for this like this? Maybe the easiest thing I've ever done in my life and then the second one. I kind of cleaned up I waited for the green screen last. For whatever reason go well. That's GONNA. Take me another four seconds, even if it goes wrong ten seconds and an hour later, I'm yelling video guy was. How many times did you think to yourself? I'm going to break Elliott's green screen because that went through my head, many many every, and then at one point I didn't give a shit. The fucking money I don't care if I break this thing I had that moment to? If I can get it in the bag. I don't care if it's right or not. As a reminder last week I said as we got on the Air I go. Hey, Eliot. I'm using the old one on my chair this week because I wasn't about to take it out of the bag. Even though my life is a nightmare with the thing on my chair, I can't. The web around is what's called an IT's. It's a good idea. Great idea, but the thing it hits me right in the wrong body of the little loop over the of the back of the chair. Yeah, it also needs to be I ten inches bigger. They do have a model that square. Out of you mean like a nerd. Well that's good because this is a very nerdy thing to talk about. I was thinking about Superman and realising why he is. And will always be the best superhero. And I think it's essentially his. Ability to fly. I mean he can fly. Without any gimmicks or devices that such an amazing thing and I've been developing this theory about that's why he's endured for so long because human beings have this. Innate. Thing, it seems of of Dreaming About Flight it's it's in our DNA. Somehow even children dream about flying. And I think that that. Is just thinking about that for a second and all the things you could do that and the responsibility that you would have being able to at any moment. Just leave your environment and go someplace else. puts me in the right mood. I was at at the lot where we should private practice, and they shoot the closer next door and a guy from the cast of closer came up to me. And started talking to me about Superman, and he did about fifteen or twenty minutes about the nuances of my character and my voice, and the the you know the back story in the psychological impact of it all and I was astounded that this adult man took it so seriously, and had thought so deeply about it and I thought my God I. You know the fans of you know comic. Characters are really serious about it and love a lot and I better honor that because You know the those are the people who are are the core audience for this stuff, and and they love it to death, so it made me Have even greater respect for Superman, minority did. It depends I mean mostly superman is. Very straightforward. He's an earnest guy and he's usually in a lot of jeopardy and try to save someone and trying to organize people to. Save themselves or do the right thing. Clark. especially you know when he is. With lowest and and stuff has a little bit of A. He's got a little bit more nuance than that although. Over the years, Batman and Superman have an interesting relationship that they've developed and not so much in in doom, but in public enemies. You know there. There's this sort of Ri-. humor that that Superman has about Batman and and he. He is becoming sort of used. Cynicism and taken with a grain of salt, which I think is is fun. That's really fun to play..

"My good friend Conor. Daly got got my buddy conner daily on the line. I guess got to be a full time indycar driver this year but right now you're fulltime. Ira Sir my friend. How's everything going? Yeah it's an interesting title to Have never really expected that Yeah here we are. I mean. It's obviously a weird time can be alive right now. but We gotta do the best of what we got right now which is currently Video Games and steering wheels in our guest bedrooms in my case. It's pretty wild. I got a radio studio in my guest bedrooms. So there you go you know what I mean. It's we do what we gotta do to stay relevant right Yeah exactly I mean it is what it. W- you know I I. I've always been into video games. Love Video Games. I've always been called nerd but my friends but now a lot of the other drivers are putting in more hours than I do. So is this you know it's it's hilarious tables of turn. Everyone is now nerd and You know we're all competing like it's a real race every weekend because you know we're competitive here. Well you know it's funny. I had this conversation with somebody yesterday and I said you know out of everybody in motor sport. And we don't WanNa get into the guys who have definitely hurt their stock by the whole I racing thing but out of everybody in Motorsport. I said you know caught her. I said I said I appreciate him. Because I said you go into the indycar season and then you look a month and a half later. And I said Qatar's the one guy who's actually improved his stock because not only do we know you're bad ass indycar driver but now you've got this social following in the IRA and community and gaming. And everything else. Like I I don't know if there's a way to be successful in the middle of a pandemic somehow you figured out a way to stay relevant. Actually Improve Your stockman. I appreciate it man. I mean it. It's all about building brand. I mean every day even even when the world was you know was running as normal. You got to build your brand every day whether it's on me or whatever and I mean I've been on the twitch twitch stuff for a while but You know I never really played racing games. So it's not really been super appealing. I guess my core fan base But now enforced new so You know it's it's it's something my family's Roy I think you know I'm I'm still going to be streaming as much lower normally stream. You know when when this whole pandemic is over. I'll probably play a little bit more duty than I. Racing but I I'm not a huge fan of the area since then but I think probably still end up doing some mobile rations with some people because oval stuff fun but but yeah it's it's it's it's something you gotTa Think About Building Your brand twitch platform that we have is so great big fans engaged if people that support you are able to support you. You know multiple way on their platform. So I think it's I think that. Yeah well I ask her. Twit stream has become like its own thing. You know what I mean like. It's and you've got. I mean everybody talks about when you guys whether it be you know we had my offer event you guys have the rallycross stuff you got the indycar stuff but your stream. I mean and you got the usual suspects you and Alex and and travel and I chatter e POPs on their hinch does with some of the events things like that you know. It's like what I did this whole thing. You'd organized because now it's become like the place to go and when something's on everybody wants to tune into your twitch twitch feed just so they can hear the chaos yeah certainly. It's been surprising how much it's taken off by I think what ended up happening. Is You know. Obviously the INDYCAR guys we sort of all in my close friend released like I already knew that operate marriage. There already knew like I knew it. This scored the newer. We can get together and chat And then you know at least a hang out while we're doing this. Ira thing and then. I told everyone well. You know by the way treatment as well and they're like yeah whatever and then you know just kind of it kind went from there so I think it's you know it's a place where we can just be really honest and laugh at the same time is trying to compete And then all of a sudden our you know we got Travis Pastrana in there. We've got Chad read. Chad is a good friend of mine. We raised against the last year and the Lamborghini super series which was really cool. And I mean I've been Fan Chad for a long time. You guys. I was always number twenty two when I was growing up. That's mainly because my dad was twenty two at one point in Formula One but Chad's obviously rep the number twenty two for a long time. And he's he's been a legend. It's really cool to be a part of Of that little group of people and and it's been hilarious so coming out of this quarantine to be friends with Travis Pastrana inside read and and I think that's We can hang that up as life goal achieved you get to hang out with the trash. You got shot. It was a red bull video right at Indianapolis Motor speedway this winter. You're the you're one of the golfers in the video right so I know you can try. It traveled Hung out before and during that Red Bull. Shoot in the middle of like a frigid ass Indianapolis Winter. I know I. They did not know I was a driver or anything didn't travel once. I was purely used as an extra on the didn't even see Rossi that day literally. It was so cold that no one was really hanging out at the golf. That's the truth comes out of that video because I figured I was like. Oh that'd be a fun group to hang out with right now. Everybody that I've talked to. I think Liza said that was like literally one of the coldest days ever to be out there filming. She's like no. Don't WanNa do it again. Well terrible honestly. Great product gray finished product but Gal. It was a rough day. Well let's talk a little bit about twenty twenty Max we'll come back to the IRA stuff in a minute. But I know this was we had caught up but I know this was actually really until the rug got pulled out from all of us and eight will still be an epic year for you. You're one of the guys I know you've obviously last year. You found some numerous homes had a great run in Indianapolis finished tenth. There you know coming into the season though I mean you know you picked up that ride with with ECR which was for all the all the road and street courses plus Andy which have you stoked man because ECR indy. I mean that's you know that's a car that can put it on the poll. You know and then you also brought Carlin for the remaining oversee. You somehow splice together a fulltime ride in indycar. I mean it wasn't in the normal traditional sense but you gotta to be pumped to be back fulltime in the INDYCAR series this year. Yeah I mean. We've been working on it for for years. I it's been in twenty seventeen. We've been full-time so it's really cool to to get back to that. It's it's been a long road it's been popped not really sure how it's you know. I didn't really know how it was. GonNa go times But the only reason I'm here airports I mean they're they're the only legitimate reason why I'm still in any driver which is You know which is which I'm really thankful for An incredible sponsor credible partner able to represent four And and yeah I mean it is going to be exciting. Do we get less races. Ask which is very similar to how you know. I assumed would you know I never would. I assume that there would be a pandemic when I re employed for full-time season but I sing. Something of this nature would happen. I do tend to have a monkey pets fine. I'm so sorry start. All those who've had their season dependent. It's probably my fault but it's GonNa be fun to great teams Carlos Awesome. I'm actually starting the season with Carlin. I up now because Texas is our first rate so that'll be the first time ever in my indycar career. I will have been with the same team but at the same track two years in a row so and so. It's GonNa be exciting to do that. And then When we get an carpenter racing team I can't wait a for those guys. It's been so fun to get to know everyone and I get to know better. They run such a great organization and I'm just I'm so pumped to get back. You know to real life. Well how does the schedule I mean? Obviously you guys. All you guys are professionals. You can adapt and overcome. But how does this new scheduled kind of throw a wrench in your plans? I mean you guys had everything planned out and obviously I know it. Probably the teams. I mean it's got them working double time trying to figure out logistics and everything else so this new new schedule you know. Use a driver. I mean you kind of had an idea of the way the the flow of the season was going to go things like that with tracks travel you know and the mix of ovals and road courses and things like that you know now all of a sudden we're starting out in Texas. I think we got. What a trio of dates in Indianapolis I mean. How is this changed the way you're approaching things just because it's completely different man? I mean month. May I mean we're playing we're playing? Ira Sing in the month of May. Something's weird you know. Yeah it's it's honestly like it does make me sad thing about You know I I have never in my life ever since I existed and the human. And they're not been an indy. Five hundred in the month of May is a every every year my life better track every year my life. I've you know I've been excited for the race of the fan and then a driver So it is. It is going to be mentally quite difficult. I think we go through the next couple of weeks But you know we. We do have something to afford. I mean we have we have sexist Jim. We have scheduled a fifteen races You know and and hopefully more maybe have more I mean I think it's a dynamic situation that is gonNA always change. Everyone's going to have to adapt. I think the toughest thing for me being with a new team with cardinals the fact that now testing is not allowed anymore. So you know. We were going to do a lot of questions throughout the year because the team the team doesn't cut corners at all. And we have you know. We had plenty of tax days lined up as much as we can do And now all that's gone and it's it's GonNa be very sure race weekends. It looks like potentially You know until we get things a little bit more back to normal so it's GonNa be really tough on drivers. Really tough on rookies It's going to be really tough. I think everyone's GonNa try and you know go. Bigger go home. Type of approach could be a lot of mistakes So you just gotTa hope you make it in the first. Few races is a bit of a information collecting journey and try to try to stay. Stay good point strategy. Stay up towards the Front And then really hit your stride mid season when one hundred is happening in August. So we'll see what happens. How how important was it?.

"Way like maybe you should check out. It won't bite your child. I don't know if that the seventies thing behind a dog in the classified so seems strange to me now as a kid or you or performer. Or I mean amount. Start to come out. Are you a performer at home? Are you like good the funny one? Yeah I used to put on tap dance shows. I'm a hearth. Gene Kelly Fan. Nice and yeah I try and tap shoes or just didn't have real time and then at school I was. I like to be funny and I also really liked to make the teachers laugh. Like to me was my favorite thing and so in first grade. this teacher recommended that. I take drama class. Because I was I was a ham and I didn't take that drama class because I imagine myself in wearing tights and singing somehow and I didn't I didn't Wanna do either of those things whereas now try and get you out and stop when I think it's because we went to see Peter Pan on Broadway. Sandy Duncan was up there in these tights and singing and stuff and I was just like what it is I want to do. They're not not a real man like man like me but that production of Peter Pan was very memorable to me because Captain Hook at some point in the show. He's out in front of the curtain with me probably while there's changing over from the nursery. The Netherlands upper and he's giving a speech kind of directly to the audience or whatever and he says. I'm going to get that Peter Pan and a little boy in the audience yelled and he or and he goes. Oh yes I will and the place went bananas for this one. Little minor unscripted moment and it was so exciting. I remember to this day of just like he was so in character. He seemed like he was expecting it. It didn't throwing for one second mazing moment and I later my mom keeps all the playbills and I saw recently. That was James Hewitt. Who would go on to replace her villages on? Fantasy Island and then play Mr Belvedere band. At the time that he played Captain Hook he was royal. Shakespeare company headed amazing resonate. Anyway that yeah I that stuck in my mind that was your first notion that you wanted to be an improvised. Yeah I think so actually. Yeah John John John. John Waters says that a Captain Hook was his first gay role model. Captain Okay. That's pretty very very funny. James Domian bit about gay villain. Yes yes or remember when you and I took our daughters to Disneyland and it was Gay Day yes and the only characters we saw were all brought out all the villains Captain Hook and Ursula and the lifts and malicious and the one from Kerala Deville right right right I will say this has got to be the liaison. I know what they're doing. They know what they're doing. They know they know their audience. And A and I actually. I said something about it online because we were tweeting about it. We were live tweeting. We were live. Tweeting are accidents gay day which another thing I loved is about three times. Moms came up to you about your daughter to say. Does she have sunscreen stupid. Gay Dad don't know your fair daughter. Roast in the Sun censoring well aware. She is slathered but I said something about the villains and there were people that were just didn't know they do like why wouldn't they? Yeah you know anyhow so we in plays in school. Did you start performing like that? I mean are you. Yeah there was some play in third grade and then I was a fire truck in the velveteen rabbit. In fifth grade improvised a little bit in my my one line got to laugh and then I said something like that. I made a comment out of character. About how funny. I thought the line was today. That's a good one. Yeah right and then Yeah and then it was a in in junior high was in the play every year and took drama classes. Junior high always always doing that. Yeah however a highschool had did five plays a year which is Jesus cry out. There was a guy from another town. Who would this guy named Brian Gnashing? Who was like I mean? Six five and obese and just this booming voice and he taught music at some other school and he would come to our school after school every day and and put up five good productions. Wow and my sophomore year was my first year at high school for stupid reasons. But they look high school. Yeah publicized yeah and I was in four of the five shows and I was the lead in one but my grades were so bad that my parents forbade me from doing theater after that. They told me I couldn't do it anymore. And so that's when I started to Do we also had a television production class at my high school. The local cable access was located in the high school and so there was like there was a switcher and cameras and a makeshift studio. And that's when I started doing that after school hours which you know because I was making my own schedule now. It wasn't like I have to be a rehearsal. And there's a play that you're gonNA find out about it was I. It was like acting and writing on the sly. Yeah Yeah and you were doing schoolwork. You're working after school on school assured I mean to your IRA. It's a study group group and we work very hard really getting those grades up there. I don't know if it'll be reflected in the report card but we're really working hard so junior senior year there are no place at all just just the TV production stuff. Yeah and was it was? It was more sort of like in this morning's lunch lady. News was there was there was some of that. I did a game show. That was a total rip off of remote control. Remember like a comedy game show and then Andy Blitz and I went to high school together and we both know I did not know a comedy writer who is a Conan writer and has gone on to do lots of different things and worked on review review on your show. Yeah yeah he and I were buddies in high school. We marry funny very funny. Oh my God yeah. We met in tenth grade and then and so he and I collaborated on sketch comedy in and made sketch shows. Yeah yeah on video. That's funny. It was Andy and Andy because the first time I knew and you were working with Andy Sekondi right I I know. Andy's that's making podcasts. Magic the to Andy's again only interested in people who don't have anything combat weird other names gun for Sandberg. He'll he will accept me. Yes so so then so you and Andy are doing that and do you kind of keep doing that through high school and then out of high school. Yeah so I. I had no interest in going to college at all. No but But then I read a biography. Where are you going to do? I didn't know I didn't know I just knew that like I didn't want to be sitting in a classroom anymore because I was. I was not good at that. You know I didn't know what I was GONNA do. My parents were adamant that I go to college or but I did not. I didn't have any plans or thoughts until I read this biography of David Letterman. That said he went to college for Television and radio for communications which I didn't know it was a thing and so I told my parents I could see myself doing that. And they were thrilled and so I ended up going. Ethica college because it has a television radio program which I did not get into because my grades weren't good enough But I was in proximity to that world of ten so I did. There was a sketch comedy show at college and I did that. And that's where I met Andy and John Bowie. Oh Wow yeah. He was also on that show. Yeah and so you never actually did. What was your major then. My major started off his English and my plan was to transfer into the School of human grades. Yes but my first semester grades. I'll never forget my first semester. Gpa was one point four eight. Oh my and So that ended that I was never going to be able to transfer into school communications. Gosh I had taken an acting elective and and I really enjoyed it and so I was just like well. I guess all auditioned for the theater department and I did. I got in there and they don't care about Ukraine. They didn't care the grades at All. Yeah so I graduated. I was a I was. I was in the BFA program for a little while. And then it but I ended up graduating with a b. A in drama Nice. Now what's the difference? Bfa in the Ba- well the east. It was it was sort of created as acting studio kind of you. It was just basically you were moving into the building. You were there all the time you were taking scene study classes and you were helping out on the crew and you were just fully immersed in. Yeah and that didn't work for me because I had been there a year already making friends in other departments who were and I wanted to be over at the you know the school communications making sketch show and being a student film Ryan and that's funny. People were funny. People were making movies to Joe. Can BOOSTER ITHACA IT? Could you know because he has a similar story? Then I think in college there was sort of the higher echelon and I think it was a it was just it was causing me deja Vu. Thank you had a very similar thing where he was like. Yeah I'd like to be in there. It seems more prestigious but it doesn't seem as much fun. Yeah Yeah Yeah I think. That's I think a lot of comedy people who go to college like all those people and went to Emerson College and all that stuff like they studied television radio and film like the funny. That's that's where the funny people are there. That's why I wanted to be. Yeah I think that yeah. I went to film school and I've probably it's probably very much case because I also thought about being in the drama but it's like I took a cup. I took a couple of acting classes. Maybe only one maybe couple of trying to pat my resume. Maybe it was just one and I. It just seems so silly and boring and not the kind of stuff. I was interested in and then when I got film school I realized and still feel this way like I. Don't you know being on stage? It's okay what I really want to do is act in television and motion pictures and that's the kind of acting that that's the technique. I'm interested in learning how to not on Broadway M- Yeah No. I have no doing long day's journey tonight or anything. No I'd rather like I don't either be on season. Two of the outsider. The Theater Department at College is very focused on New York theater. As like what? We're training sure. You know understandably I I was always just like mom. What were you folks? What was their attitude is. You're going through this. They they did not think that I should be an actor. I think they like the idea of me getting a degree in communications. Which would set me up to be like. I don't know to add sales at Radio. Stations working in the newsroom. But at the point it was I came home with one point. Four eight grade point average. It was like well whatever it takes you know and so. I was just a while. They'll take me in this program. And so they were fine and then they got me a subscription to backstage as a gift when I graduated college as a kind of but my dad also bought me a suit as ritualistic buying a suit when you Graduate College. I think yeah..

And here's something interesting about yourself that most people don't know it is my honor to say what is up to my brothers and sisters in the fire nation Yes something interesting So okay I did think about this question because I always enjoy. This is one of my favorite parts of the podcast. Can you hear what people will people come up with and so I just share something that some people might know but I think that splitting wood that is like with an axe and would on on the ground outside. I think splitting wood is maybe. The ultimate activity for an entrepreneur is one of my favorite things to do it. It's it's cardio it requires enough concentration that you don't you know chop your foot off every piece of what is a little different and frankly it's what. It feels like to be an entrepreneur entrepreneur. Most of the time as you're just splitting and splitting and splitting and you know every once in a while you make fire so that's probably my little tidbit. There's a great book on it by the way it's total nerd. What splitting book? But it's really well written. It's called Norwegian would by a guy named Lars of course his name's Lars Lars Minding so at the of course but it it's a fascinating fascinating book but either way that that's my little thing. Well what an analogy first and foremost and secondly just imagine when you just get that perfect head and the woods splits. Exactly how you envision it just kind of sits there for a second like it's like thinking about it then it just drops off the log on both left and the right side and you're just like best ask. That's why I split logs. I mean you're talking you're talking to right now. I mean I'm from Maine and we'd we'd done all that stuff. I mean we split. What every single fall literally but to? It's kind of a now. I have an analogy of you. Know it's like you get on the golf course in your crappy all day but then like the seventeenth hole you just hit that one shot and as the the one and you're like I can't wait to golf. Tomorrow's like changes everything so fire nation. I think this really filled the bill on wild like to start with this question because you know it just makes you had the box and you're gonNA get some really interesting answers and of course we're going to now turn our focus to the main topic today. which is brands? And as I told you in the intro brand is gravity. We're going to be going through a lot of things in this genre in this vertical in this niche and of course Paul has a lot of experience here so Paul. First and foremost let's just start off with defining brand as you see it. That is the question I think when anything any word word begins to become popular or becomes a buzzword like that's the incident starts to lose meaning just because it's being used in so many contexts so if you're going to do anything meaningful with Brian you have to define it so I really take a page from. I'm sure you've heard this definition before and probably a lot of people on fire nation from the marketing grew thought leader. Seth Godin somebody. I respect a lot. He would say brand is a set of expectations memories stories and relationships that taken together account for consumers decision to choose is one product or service over another. I take that definition stand on its shoulders and say all of that to say brand is a feeling. It's not a logo. It's not color scheme. It's not your people. Those are all expressions of your brand but brand is a feeling and that feeling really is a reflection election of the viewers values back at them. So that's that's kind of my starting point on any conversation with brand fire nation. I really need to step back and think about. What kind of feeling number one do you think your brand has and the number two? What kind of feeling do you think your brand exudes to others the people that are being exposed to your brand? I know back in two thousand twelve love when I came up with the entrepreneurs on firebrand for me. It was all about. Hey not say anything bad about other. podcasts there are some great ones out there at the time but one thing is a listener. I I was like man. This is great content. I really wish it was being delivered with like excess enthusiasm and people were like having just just an overabundance of fun talking about these topics and sometimes you know I just wasn't getting that energy through the voice because we as humans are so unbelievably good at translating voice tonality into what what actually people are feeling and I said hey with entrepreneurs on fire. That's going to stand for igniting inspiring exciting crushing. Like I want all these things come out and for some people it's GonNa be over the top and it's going to be corny. And that's that's not our tribe but our tribe of people that want that Nice Fresh Cup of entrepreneurs on fire coffee in the morning so to speak love to really start their day that I love personally that you say Paul is brand beats the hacks. What do you mean by that? Brand brand beats the hacks is just something that became actually made a t shirt that says it to remind people. That's a great conversation starter. We live in a day and age. Where there's always a faster way you search hacks up on Youtube and you're going to see hacks everything from you know tying your shoes to cutting your lawn and marketing? There's I think a growing addiction addiction to the tactical nature of hacking. And what I mean is hacking the Google Algorithm Hacking instagram hacking. Organic on Lincoln. And there's always always this thought that like any addiction whether that's in you know brand hacking or physical addiction like we give it all of our time energy and money in the hopes that it will save us from something something but those are just hacks and they don't save you from anything. So when I say develop brand beats the hacks it's developing. Your brand is a long play developing. Your brand also doesn't go away fast. It takes a long time to build but it also sustains its value so when you build brand it will beat an algorithm. Hack any any day of the week any year Because the hacks come and go google decides to change their algorithm. Guess what you have to find another hack. So that's what I mean when I say brand beats axe axe brand beats the hacks and this is like another area. Fire nation that I'm really passionate about really being micro niche and dominating in your niche because believe me a lot of people I could never have a brand like this. Because you know there's Nike or there's you know fill in the blank under armor but the reality is like you can be the brands in the micro niche that you're passionate about. You can become the number one individual if you're willing to niche in this down again and then niche till it hurts and guess what just 'cause you start there doesn't mean you end there. I mean look at Nike started with like one pair of shoes that were made on a waffle iron and now look what they are today. I mean there's nothing that they don't create that you could actually quote unquote wear so think about that. Fire nation where you can become an amazing brands. Even in today's market where people think is so saturated.
