Could 60 Games Mean a Bad Team From Last Year Will Be Your 2020 World Series Champion?

"What to expect with baseball's return, and that's where I start okay. Baseball's back and you are what you are angry. It took this long fair. You're indifferent because you already hated it or I guess that's really in different. If you hate the game and you don't care, it's even coming back and you just made fun of it the whole time during this public display of not being able to figure out okay I. Get that one, too, but there's probably a lot of us is gonNA. Throw it on now. The problem is baseball should have been back before. Let's say what a week before the NBA. NBA gets to sing rolling and I don't know how much crossover there is between NBA and baseball fan I'd imagine there's probably more crossover between the NFL and the NBA Fan, but who cares whatever we got this thing back and I. Still Really like baseball and I always thought it was going to happen. There's a specific reason. Why was finally work out? No matter what version of what we have get to that and a little bit because there was a couple of reporters that we're actually seeing like as it's probably over probably doomed. Okay then it's definitely coming back now. Because remember the rules when you're on television, it sounds a lot better. If you're an opinion, person sports saying it's the death of baseball, and I'm now going to write the verbal obituary in. It's never coming back. WHOA, that's a good clip makes a really good video. Good sound bite. Let's play that on the radio. Show a little bit later today, or you could be on the desk and say. They'll probably figure it out, and that's not as exciting, but it's the accurate on the. I would say. It's the lane that I've been in this entire time, so let's take a close. Look at what we have. 'cause look out, folks I the Internet last night and I looked up some baseball stuff. We got sixty games normal playoffs. Thank God good on that a little bit later. But what is sixty games me? Baseball's weird. You can have bad teams. Put together a decent sixty games and could team go forty and twenty. Sure, but I think a Lotta. These teams are going to be right around five, hundred, thirty, five, twenty five, and then you're going link. Think how little! The discrepancy could be look at how the playoff chase ends now in September with the advancement of you know the different kind of playoff alignments they have and I don't like some of the extra game stuff, but it all has been really really exciting. The last few years of what we've seen in more than last five years of what we've gotten out of the baseball plaster incredible incredible. Scenes, finishes and all sorts of drama. In scares me a little bit that the product has been great in the postseason, and if not really helping the rest of the months, but if you look at and I did this I look back at some of the worst teams in baseball interlock. Place all right Toronto Toronto. At one point was twenty nine and fifty two, and then they went twenty, two and twenty over forty two game stretch. That's a sixty seven. When teen played two games over five hundred for Forty Games San Francisco. You Ask all right here. You Go last year twenty six and thirty eight at one point, and then ended up at fifty, five and fifty three, so they want on that Mastro. That's a forty four game stretch were San. Francisco played twenty nine. Nine and fifteen baseball they were a seventy seven and eighty-five team, but more folks I tried the best I could find from their stretches, fourteen and thirteen. That was an awful awful baseball team. Remember Seattle last year against smaller sample. They started the year thirteen and to remember although Seattle tweets they were twenty, five and thirty five, and that was a bad baseball team. How about this one? Miami was ten thirty one on May Fifteenth, then they stretched it to forty one in sixty three. That's a bad baseball team that from Miami. That's a bad baseball team. That from the middle of May to the end July played thirty one and thirty two baseball. That's crazy, and then you have Detroit. Who was actually eighteen and twenty, and if you forgot how many games Detroit one last year I don't blame you because I did to the Tigers in forty seven games and I couldn't find anything that was thirty and thirty over sixty game stretch, but over forty they were two games under five hundred, so we could have some really weird stuff. Now you could have a cy young winner be six and four. You could have with the second base being occupied an extra inning games. The unintended part of that is we could just have a walk fest, and all these extra things, but I'm not sitting here clamoring for. For more extra innings, even though I used to like it when I watch the Games, I can also understand that basically these managers now don't even WanNa. Play them because they'd rather not burn out there. They'd rather take the loss that day. Burn out their arms for an entire week. At least that's what they tell us. All the time is somebody hits four hundred. No, thank you by the way nobody's hit three fifty cents Josh Hamilton like ten years ago. We've had four years over the past four years. Excuse me, five hitters have hit twenty home runs over the first sixty games, so look at maybe twenty. Twenty being. You're leading home run number, and there's all sorts of other things how you're gonNA. Use Your roster with thirty, two twenty eight to twenty six. You'RE GONNA. Call up different players, and how you're gonNA use your

"A man sees a back in there. Ones and twos producing On a July 4th weekend. Hopefully, everybody's being say, social distance, saying all that because I know a lot of people are not And that's why I'm questioning sports right now, a lot going on when it comes to Team's in sports, trying to get back to it. Baseball guys just dropping out to say I'm not risking it. I'm not going to do it. You got David Price at a former Cy Young winner, now a Dodger, saying, I'm taking a season off. Guys, I don't want to risk it. From The nationals. Championship team, Ryan Zimmerman. Joe Ross, not doing it. They're out. Ian Desmond. Not doing it. Mike Leake for the Diamondbacks not doing it. More players are going to come out, say, I'm not doing it. Mike Trout says. I don't know, Madame down it. He might drop out too. And still, you have a whole organization's having pop ups and things happening where they had to say, are we We got to close things down for now. So Poof! Sees. I don't know it doesn't make sense. I think it'll happen just because we need that money. Did you know the powers that be going to say this has to happen, But You're gonna have more more players have an issue. I think I think the MBA will be the safest because of the bubble. If they can control it well, which they should you know, it's supposed to be the safe bubble or whatever. I don't know about baseball. That and football. I don't think football starting on time. Yeah, I think it will push back. You again if there if there is that second wave, especially if you know what the flu season starting and you know what when it gets colder You're welcome Be. I don't know. I don't know, man. I know football. Everybody says football away. The NFL is not goingto not have a season. You could have replacement place guy. I mean, flat out if you make a lot of money. Why? And let me tell this I know some players like Oh, why don't you play you make on his money, you'll you'll note a home situation. You don't know You don't know if they have a kid or somebody like that. They take care of. You can't risk that. Like Avery Bradley was like I have a at risk. Kids has respiratory issues. I'm not going. I don't care if I could potentially win a championship with the Lakers. I can't go, so don't tell me That more players might not have this issue. Freddie Freeman somebody who just got the Corona virus, he may say, night I'm out guys. I feel terrible. It's been like this for three weeks. I I'm gonna call this thing out because I don't know I don't want to get it again. It's just, you know, fans don't look at the players is like humans first, right, just other the player that there are there are, you know they're the athlete. They play the game and they always say like off. I was in that position. I would play the game. I would probably feel the same way as the athletes do like that's you know, it's walk in their shoes for a minute. It's not about money. It's you know, it's about safety and wellbeing and being comfortable and all that stuff genuine. Like Victor Oladipo. It is a big break for the Sixers. Says he's not He's not going down, he says. Is he healthy now? Going well, what they're saying is because remember Victor Haddon issue had it at a injury. He came back during the season before we broke, okay. Would then now he's saying I'm just going to focus on my rehab. But he was back. So I would bet money. This has something to do with the Corona virus Also. Again. Maybe maybe I'm I'm not 100% healthy. I'm healthy enough to play but with this Corona virus also being there. There's too many risk factors here. Not going and are they really let you get the Pacers Are there in the mix? Obviously, then just stay the same. They have the same. Ah, They had the same record as the Sixers. And that's the first game deeply August 1st, so Even if the Pacers don't have a chance, And that's what I think you were getting at. Yeah, ultimately are they going toe? You know? Is. Is he going to be there are they're gonna you know, Suddenly they're goingto go up against Milwaukee and beat Milwaukee. Probably not. I don't think so. But it certainly helps the sixes when it comes to seeding and Yeah, right there. They're lack will help us. Sure. Yes, but again, Vick, Vick said. I'm not going Again. I can't imagine like I thought to myself the pelicans are going to be there, right? His iron Williams so I don't know if you've seen pictures. He's he looks great like he looks like he's in great shape. And the funny thing is Ari. I was listening to Kenny Smith, former You know Houston Rockets NBA player for TNT analysis he was saying. This don't and this is another reason why again? I keep coming back to that ass trick, he said. This is not a continuation. This is in a new season. He says. Hey, listen. That form on break you have that's usually urine all season. So you think about rookies and second year players how How they come back the next years like you saw Luca don should come back at a different, amazing player. He says Zion and John Durant Jump they're going to take because this is like going into your second season because you've got to Arrests and look Att game tape and get in shape and and understand its Again, so that's another reason why I'm like. This is a different season. This is This is a different circumstances. Whoever would have won.

Coping with the food landscape during a pandemic

"This is where we are not recording on our kitchen table as we normally do. We are currently speaking to each other looking each other through video recording on like a video chat. And that's why the audio doesn't sound as great as what you know released to. We just wanted to kind of fit together already. Quick Emergency Series to help you navigate. Diet COCCIA BODY IMAGE ISSUES. This weird kind of food landscape that we're in at the moment this weird time full of in dieting tate. We wanted to help give you some good stuff resources positive and saying how you feel better annisten how we doing it say currently I can see Lachey on a video screen. She can say me we've done into these people they sway as well and Yeah I mean how you really naughty how you doing well. I had a bit of a realization yesterday. Thoughts this kind of cycling through lots of different emotions I go. I was reading giggly for example and then I realized that if I stalked and just thought about it for minute that she fading Really Sodom ready scattered semi giggles like tips over NSA crying and the very rapid change in how. I'm feeling which I'm sure that listeners could probably relate is grief so I think I think we're collectively grieving will pass. Lives the wells where we could just step outside the front door Down the street in Kathrina Silva isn't it? The the freedom of both psychologically and physically is on the loss of that is something that I'm I'm ready feeding the moments but I'm okay. I'm alright just so weird. Isn't it how you how are you feeling really similar really? I think the Iranians that I've been looking at on social media like radio impressed an absolutely loving reading people's posts about how that ray enjoy his time to meditate and do yoga Latin language and a new hope night at tonight themselves and I think that's a lovely. I'm one hundred percent not doing any of that because I'm schooling. My children. Work is absolutely just so hectic busier than ever. And when you're self employed you tight what when when you as well so I feel like I'm spending a lot of time walking which is good because I enjoy the WOK and I'm spending a lot of time with the kids and I think this weekend probably be the first time that it really hits me because I've been busy And I'm just kind of getting through hour by hour antiquing list and being with the kids. I haven't really had a huge amount of time to kind of price. That's what's going on in amendment. I'd love to learn mandarin or something like well. It's I think it's really interesting though because I think what this is showing us is. How all kind of natural states respond in a change of circumstances. So you know. I'm finding who accepted the on. Probably a bit more of an introvert than I used to be. So this toll staying home thing. Knock seeing anyone. I am down with that. I'm quite happy to to be at home but I think there's something about the The the list of projects like Oh. Now's the time I can read this thing and do this. E Costa Last year and I can spring clean house. I think but it is a form of trying to take control of your situation in which we don't have any control and that's just all brain just protecting us from that so I think we just need to kind of making the list is enough like to feel like we have some control over the situation. I don't think we actually need to learn them under three interesting sang. That 'cause I'm always say body. Collins is all about body Image Diet Colin and mental health. And how the subjects into secretary parenting on social justice issues on the thing. The thing I really night chased is how when people are anxious it might offend all sorts of different ways people who have made a been an recovered from Diet Coccia or maybe in a eating disorders or disordered eating or a variety around body image. Who've been fine now their anxieties coming back a situation that we have no control an old. She's that they've gone through before and I think he's really interesting. That whole thing about you wanting to gain some control so people looking to gain control by do not nights of high workouts for example which are like everywhere lyman or being where he controlled about that reaching and then that whole feed landscape where the moment where people are shopping in different way and then why that is going to run out or maybe. They've got a lot to of food in the cupboards and then used to having that much freedom competence and that that can be tricky for some people. We've got a brilliant gas dawn today. Hyper Guy who's a campaign? She got an amazing book. I'll link all of her places in the show nights. That hype campaign is dumped scales campaign. She's not over. She just reached over a hundred thousand signatures on her changed all petition. She's campaigning to change the way that eating disorders are diagnosed in the UK. And taking away from how having a minimum white basically in order to help and we have actually talked about her campaign previous on the. Po Costs into a that will share in a minute talks about food. Lion's gate and how to kind of navigate this this weird time from the angle and it might be really helpful if you are recovering from an each disorder old disordered eating or even just you know diet culture which I think. We're all kind of recovering from two CY. Young Son How he's been managing that whole aspect of things not well. I've really noticed. All of those kind of body shaming soft tweets and memes and stuff going around about people saying what their body might be like after this is over on the basis of what you've just said. I you know different Change to our eating habits or exercise habits or whatever I find that really fascinating that that's something that people are focusing on because that sought to sort of direct line between our bodies function on. What's going on out there in the world right now like the idea that health is at such a premium right now and. I don't know I'm still kind of figuring it out. I guess I'm really grateful to be in a body that is healthy that doesn't have underlying health conditions understand. That has a massive privilege in that I think about my friends and my family situations Nano people you do have those underlying health conditions I'm worried for them. But it's it feels like it's kind of a few steps down from about these look like now and that's really fascinating that when we get out of this. I'm ready interested in whether that will just change Perceptions of our bodies. What how we prioritize them. Oh how we perceive them what do you reckon I cannot say Lonnie I can ask really helpful positive looking on I feel like diet collishaw and like some of the FA favorite memes and Jake's have been going round and say like influences like selling immunity boosting recipe ease at which also at the same time. Get Your own point Arabs. I feel like what could could die coach. You don't give us a break. Like the world is on his knees right now. Can we know what just no life for second? I think that I say that says you can point about kind of let's cut like actually practice. Gratitude for bodies can day. I'm on and say these like literally fighting off this invisible virus and and I think that's interesting. I think with it with regards system the means and stuff that I've seen gotten around always see in a situation like this. Humor is is a valid coping strategy. Or how people are dealing with earnings authority over rain via and Huma is often used as a tool for that and I guess it's just a shame the alot of The Hema at the moment that people seem to be finding comforting is around basically fat shaming and I. Guess not just comes back to that thing that we've always said is that like fat shaming and body shaming is like the last bastion of accessible.

Dodgers Acquire 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts, 2012 Cy Young Winner David Price

"And despite the fact that it seems there is in some cases a assumption that Mookie Betts was going to leave the red Sox that he was not going to re sign with the red Sox that maybe even if he did entertain an extension of the red Sox it wouldn't come until after this year when he was in free agency in hearing from multiple teams I still cannot wrap my head around the Boston Red Sox trading him for what they traded him like I get it you've got some prospects you get ready David prices money get Alex Verdugo you got two more prospects Jeter downs a short stop and Connor won a catcher from LA because of Bruce star Greta Rawls medicals Boston wanted out of that so can smite it goes to the twins and greater all and another prospect go to Los Angeles the red Sox then pick up eight shortstop Jeter downs that was drafted thirty second by the Reds in twenty seventeen and then shipped to LA in the week deal and also Conor want a third round pick in twenty seventeen out of university of Houston like even if those guys end up being every day big leaguers which still you know not a given just because of the nature of Major League Baseball how hard it is for guys to not just get to the big leagues but then become every day guys and much less all star caliber guys even if that happens you're still trading M. V. P. you still trade in MVP this might actually be a bit of a better deal because of the fact the greater all is said Tommy John surgery but you know it was just the red Sox wanting to get under the luxury tax and move an asset that just about everyone it seems new was going to be moved and I just can't buy into them having no choice can't I can not buy into their hands being tied and having to make this deal so you know the cardinals will have some interesting now I guess guys in that vein moving forward the most notably potentially Jack Flaherty Ben Fredrickson regret piece in the post dispatch it was yesterday my days are all messed up and everything was yesterday Sunday on you know if now would be the time to try and get the spring extension done with flirty I don't know Flaherty would listen right now but if they could try to lock him up in la command if your picture maybe the security is a lot more appealing than if your position player because of the risk of injury but maybe Jack Flaherty won't entertain that we've seen you know the extensions of the last few years we've seen the pre are extensions with Matt carpenter back in twenty years at fourteen fifteen with Paul the young with cold warm we then saw Mao's Michaelis get his extension from the cardinals last spring that we saw the carpenter extension at start of the season last year although that's apples and oranges because again that wasn't a pre RBL he already got that but I just don't know if you will see guys continued to be eager to take those deals are feel see guys move towards free agency but either way I still think it's bad for the game bad for the sport bad for fans but the red Sox just kind of gave up I'm trying to figure out making it work with Mookie Betts instead cash in their chips to get under the luxury tax and you know get some prospects back prospector that you know I I totally understand not one to give guys away but you know it's almost the flip side this time almost like they're valuing that controlling get under the tax more than they value and I don't know I for one just as a fan as a baseball fan you know it's not great great for the Dodgers great for the Dodgers and they've got a heck of a line up

"What happened in that moment. Can you can you fire that cut again at the beginning? All. Today. That's what happens. With the game winner. But there was a lot of excitement. Why was there so much excitement? Well because Dwane Casey got a victory back in Toronto with his new team after the raptors let him go. So you can imagine there's a bit of vindication there where the game winner one. Oh, six one four is the final Mark champion with the call on the Detroit Pistons radio network Blake Griffin with thirty and twelve but a little bit later in the show. We'll hear from Dwayne Casey, though, he does take the high road, which you knew he was going to probably stings has disdain there's no way. It doesn't anybody who's been fired. "Yacht here Molina the winner of the Roberto Clemente award the cardinals up for a host of awards this World Series week. I talked about it with Derek Gould Roberto Clemente award coming up tomorrow. Right. That's Tuesday that they're gonna announce that winter there at Fenway par. Then you have the Hank Aaron award. Now have a couple of candidates both of those awards got air Molina for the Clemente award and that carpenter for the Hank Aaron award. Then you have the gold glove. They're calling them finalists. And I'm always I always struggle with that with the use of the word finalists because it's not like there's another vote like. Yeah. They know who the winner is. These are just the top three vote-getters. We do the same thing with the Baseball Writers Association of America awards, which there will be the top three vote-getters revealed all at one fell swoop. And then over the course of the weeks following the first full week following the World Series will be the release of those four wards which are the MVP Cy Young rookie manager of the year award. And I think, you know, you're right hockey to me is the only one that can really, you know, kind of compare to baseball one of the reasons why is because the awards are so well known they they go by nicknames. You have more east Rashard Hart trophy Norris trophy, the lady bang, just like you have the Cy Young award right MVP's, a little different the MVP and baseball doesn't have the catchy nickname the rookie of the year award. Does it's the Jackie Robinson award in the NFL though. I'm not sure many people know that that they ought to. And you know, but these awards what what baseball and hockey both do is because of the nature of the awards, they connect generations. Right. Like, if I were to tell you, you know, Carl Yastrzemski won an MVP award Mickey Mantle won an MVP award. That would connect them to you know, Jose altuve who also want an American League MVP award, or, you know, just a more. No, or you know, any of the cow. You know, just the the great players through the years. I mean and also the cemetry of it like you think about Albert pools one three MVP awards with the cardinals museum. One three MVP awards with the cardinals. So you have this connection through history that really binds baseball beyond the long jeopardy of any other sports other than hockey. I think that's why they carry such significant. And I think that you can you can make the case this year that even if not adding a number of guys winning the cardinals could very well as you point out today on Twitter have a gold glove award winner, and Colton long and a couple of other deserving candidates. And then I think I think you'll have guys that garner votes. If not, you know, at least fifth place votes for the MVP with carpenter Cy Young potentially with Michael is rookie of the year. Flaherty invader gold. You mentioned gold glove manager of the year. Mike show could get awards. Could get votes. And then I mean miles Michael is certainly could be the comeback player of the year. I know no player has ever come from overseas and won that award. But you can make the case that they will have guys who who garner some votes, and and some significant votes in in those categories, I wouldn't be shocked if miles Michael Kitson Cy Young vote from somebody. Sure. Certainly, maybe. Yeah. Top five right? Yeah. So yeah, the ballots are five per se young three for manager three for rookie in forever. So you have a little bit of a space there. So yeah, you know, you could see how Michael's could fit into somebody's ballots there. And also, you know, you have a real interesting Cy Young vote with Jacob degrom who, you know, ten fifteen twenty years ago isn't getting sniffer the award because of how you know because of the kaleidoscope of statistics us back then versus now in sort of how focused and widespread some better statistics have become for that award. I'm saying with MVP. I mean, you you could I don't think it'd be out of the realm. If your Melissa Lena receive some down ballot. Yeah. Yeah. So it'd be interesting to see I don't know. You know, I I have an MVP this year. I think it's what my seven year six consecutive year with the MVP ballot. You know, it was it was it was a tricky one from the sense that there were so many candidates, and how do you pull from fifteen to get the ten in a way it's pretty similar to like a hall of fame votes. You have the same ten lines and you deal with. Okay. I got fifteen candidates who I think are belonging. So how do I rank them? Sinclair Lincoln at Ford's sports open line, a huge, thanks to John Kelly. Mike yo for behind the bench, Dan cats as well. Ben Boyd our executive producer, Mike Anderson. My guy here in the Kamli studios. One nothing Boston top for the third in game two of the World Series. We'll be back tomorrow for the blues and be Columbus. Blue jackets six thirty pregame skate, seven o'clock face. On Friday for the balloons and Blackhawks on Saturday until then Chris. Each other. And it's always. Remember thinking mom had.

"The baseball front Janki is abandoned today are Li I told you before we went to break that Aaron judge. You did a kind of a seeing eye grounder down the right field. Lying coupla hopper. First base men playing way back off the bag and a roll down into the right field corner. Got a double. He was driven by Aaron Hicks. Whether they said thereafter. So it's now three nothing Yankees as go to the bullpen, and I don't necessarily disagree with Bob Melvin here. He feels the game potentially slipping away. He knows this is a big forum. Stanton came up afterward and got ahead. So the Yankees AB runners on second and third no out and are already up three nothing. He's bringing him Blake training who I told you had an unbelievable season this year Cy Young word the type season for the as I'll give is exact numbers sixty eight games this year. Trying eighty innings pitched forty six hits forty six eight thousand eight hundred eighty how good that is all by the way, walked twenty one. So is whip usually a good solid picture is going to be one to under one to somewhere between one one and one to if you're under one one, you're good. If you're under one year, outrageously good point zero point eight three was trying to whip this year his ERA again under one. Point seven eight and he saved thirty eight games for the as this year. Oh, by the way, he won nine while he was at it. That's absolutely Cy Young worthy him Blake trying to get Cy Young. You won't hear me complain. I think Blake's Nells should get sei-yung some people think get should be Chris sale. Other sage just number Orlando because he pitched as many innings these dead of all the top pitchers. He pitched more innings than anybody else. If they give it a try, and you only me complained because he had that great of season, and he's out here to try and shut the Yankees down at the end to this lead. It could be one that the as cannot overcome as we are in the bottom of the sixty Yankees already up three not with a chance. Dad, more eight five five two one two four two two seven phones. All our buck for Mojo's gonna give us the first buzzer tonight. Hey, buck. How are you doing good unique? God bless you. Thank you. You or years? Thanks for getting back. I forgive you. Cleveland band. I don't know if you like that. But I don't know. Why would I have a problem with the Cleveland fan? Well, no, you, you know, I don't know. I said something stupid. But now, I don't believe that. But anyway, yeah. I think you're going to pull this off and that'll be a good bosses series. But you know, what do you think about Baker mayfield's vertically around like him? He's going to be the ranch. I yes. Yes. Absolutely. Going back to the draft. I thought there was a new all know who the top five quarterback sworn. They all went in the first round. My order would have been Donald one Mayfield to Allen three. And then I don't really close between Jackson and Rosen. Some people at Rosen as the top ranked quarterback. I didn't I didn't mean I thought that people overrating him. I thought the top two in my mind were unquestionably darnold a Mayfield. And I thought they were close, and I was okay with it because I'm a jet guy. And I said, well, if they take Donald we'll get Mayfield that'd be fine day took Mayfield we got Donald even happier with it alum. I thought was the third bats. Then Jackson are Rosen. So I thought the top to where easily the top two. So you got one of the top two. I think you got yourself a franchise quarterback. Yes. I think the jets darnold. Darnold gonna be something special. I I do too easy coming back down a little bit after the unbelievable game that he had. I. Game against the Browns. Last three haven't been quite as good. But he's got he's got all the requisite skills. The only issue I'm having with Donnelley's days. And I said this last weekend here on CBS sports radio this weekend past weekend on CBS sports radio. Get up into line is not great and darnold as a tremendous capability for being able to make plays out of the pocket on the run creating space for himself when he feels the pass rush. He's gotten too comfortable with that. And no one digit offensive line is in great. It's almost like he's waiting for the pocket to break down on him. And he's running out before he even needs to run out. He's got some happy feet back there. And usually when he gets out of the pocket plays out of the pocket. But sometimes I just get the feeling every state in the pocket and drove the football. He could make some big time throws for them. That has not been what he's been doing. He's he's got happy feet. And that's something it's correctable and certainly with only get better. And it's only a matter of time. But I do have my concerns about him just short term because you've got the army's got he's got the leadership. He's got the moxie. He's got a lot of attributes you need to be a franchise quarterback in this league right now, he's got a little bit of Yip's because the jet line isn't protecting them the way that it's supposed to I dare. Ooh. Review here. Yankees opened up the lead a little bit in the American League's wildcard game. Go just drove in a couple of runs may have gotten the played. Oh, man. It's close diving play at the plate Luke Voight being tagged by Jonathan Luke, ROY. They called them save the play is under review. It's close. When I saw it live. I thought he was out then I thought one replayed. I go damn I think and I saw another replay. Now, I think he's out boys lucky to be on the way star that home run trot, Paul, and yeah, I should for those who aren't watching it like we are. Runners on second and third Lou point hit a opposite field high fly ball to right field that the as right field. Went back on jump. Tried to make a play. No Jeffrey, mayor issues for the Yankees here. The fan wise enough to let it land and it land literally two inches from the top of the fence. It is on the fence as you can possibly it and not habit bounce backwards into stance. So he just missed a home run. But he did he vowed he stood there and admired it at home plate. Now. The reason he was able to get dirty basis. My few mentioned he was lucky to be a third while because Giancarlo Stanton played correctly. There was a chance right? Feel good cut the cut the ball. So STAN was on second base. He didn't take off till after the ball came off the wall was actually relied pretty quickly by the right fielder. And they had a play home Stanton would save two. But it was closed and he was save. So that's why. He was able to avoid was able to get the third. He went to Jared on the throw. He never would have gotten third base if they didn't told her plate and he should have done play because they almost got Stanton there. We're sitting in waiting on a review as to whether Luke void is called safe at home plate. Even if he's out five not the Yankees in the bottom of the sixth. I doubt that it'll be part of the botany our CBS sports radio update. We're Marco Eddie..

The American League's Cy Young poll that we started about this time yesterday got more votes than pretty much any other poll that we've ever put up on Twitter or on Facebook. You guys killed it. "Jacob degrom won the NL Cy Young award tonight. Eight more scoreless innings lowered is Ziara to one point seven. Oh, which is historically low in the live ball era. Add that to twenty nine consecutive starts three runs or less a single season major league record. And when you add that to the innings pitched and the walks and strikeouts. It's an amazing season. He will have the fewest wins of any starting pitcher ever to win the Cy Young award. But that will not matter. Not when you have any RA of one point seven. Oh, yeah. Take that Michael wilbon and those two pitchers are Felix Hernandez and Fernando Valenzuela both had thirteen wins when they on their Cy Young. So this would be by three. I would love it. I still have a feeling Scherzer's gonna win. No. I listen. I I watched wrong with you. I want the ground or win it. But I have a feeling Scherzer's going to win it. But man, would that be something with a ten and nine record? This truly be even more obviously than all time of saying wins aren't as important as some of the other things that these pictures can do in. That is obvious. Our faith was tested and shaking. And now it's been rewarded by Tim Kirsch, like trace it. I often said I wanna see baseball through the if you could see the world through the eyes of a child, I wanna see baseball through the eyes of Tim Kirch in and through his eyes to Crohn's win the Cy Young swamp. Once again, he did it again twenty four th straight consecutive start quality start three in three earned runs less. He gave up no runs. And I think it's now twenty eight over the. The last two seasons. Jacob degrom, congratulations. We're gonna make a Cy Young. If he doesn't win one. We're gonna make it. We're going to give him the unofficial would give the young award from us. We'll say he had an era of one sixty six which is lower than what to Graham has in two thousand fifteen and he did not win. But did he have twenty eight consecutive starts three earned runs or less? I think twenty nine so now he did he might have had twenty eight hundred. Saying didn't have twenty nine twenty nine. That's a that's even better take that again. All right. We're continuing with what's trending with this. "But I just wonder if Mike wilpon happened to be listening to go and win go yesterday when we made the point that we were interested in throwing our collective way to show behind Jacob degrom Cy Young campaign Jacob degrom who's at an ERA around one point, one eight for a while now has been pitching great despite having a record under five hundred largely because he can't get bailed out with any runs the port by the rest of the Mets who have floundered and relative mediocrity for the majority of the season in a way that Mets fans are pretty used to at this point become the norm. And so we decided to talk Jake degrom as we have for a while now because it's it's it's an emotionally difficult place because baseball is such a unique sport where you can go out and play well because of the nature of the sport because of how matchup driven it is because pitchers and batters comes down to those simple things Jacob degrom even though he was five for his last eight behind the plate, can't hit enough to give himself all the runs import, then he needs and certainly can't play defense behind him in any way. He can only do so much and what he's able to control. He controls better than anyone when it comes to this particular stat. And now max Scherzer still guy that I think most people would put in front of degrom at this point and he's got the wind total. Certainly back it up, but we decided, you know, he was our guy. We're gonna go degrom for Cy Young. That was something that we did listening later in the day to PTI listening to. I think it was Frank Solon with my job and they were talking about Jacob degrom Cy Young campaign this is will will had to say, win the game. I don't care what the area is when you add them up at the end, you know the cubs probably had some Cy Young award winning ERA champions in that hundred year plus year period. And if somebody said, I'll trade that for the wins that get me a World Series. What would you do? If the answer is anything other than take the wins, then it's fraudulent. Then I resigned from following sports, win the dam pike. My. He doesn't get any run support. It's at three point. Six runs again. You've gotta. Hey, seventies only hang tough. Only starters bass don't allow to hang his ERA is one point five strikeouts one hundred ninety four innings. Right frankly, this is a tyranny of statistics. Now there's some just Frank. "Kind of frustrated with this whole situation. I don't know. It's just it's it's tough with no matter what you say as it gets. Gets taken in in misconstrued. Sometimes. The other day. It doesn't matter because all the guys that are gonna play. That's kind of what I was getting at. Tired of saying the same thing over and over again and immediate kind of being a dead horse here. So we're going to do. I don't wanna talk about it anymore. First and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. I know Dave, Dave is an awesome guy. Again. I was fortunate to be in training camp with the Steelers in two thousand thirteen so Dave decastro and Ramon foster, and these guys were guys that were veteran players that were kind enough take me under their wing, and no one of played a lot of great football. But this is not a media creation. This was one hundred percent not a media creation. We were given this gift of content from that Steelers locker room we accepted a willingly. And now, we've certainly gonna take it and run with it. Because why the hell not we've got all this juice to the situation. But that's had a lot of that passive aggressive field to at this meeting James Connor denied that they're very exuberant celebration had anything to do with Le vian Belle's absence. Boot we all kind of know better first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. So I spend that four because major league baseball. We got some things happening now, and they feel like shade like this fee. Feels like it was directed at us now. No. And this isn't any ESPN cry on ESPN crime or anything like that. But I just wonder if Mike wilbon happened to be listening to go look and wingo yesterday when we made the point that we were interested in throwing our collective weight is a show behind Jacob degrom Cy Young campaign. Jacob degrom who's an ERA around one point one eight for a while now has been pitching great despite having a record under five hundred largely because he can't get bailed out with any run support by the rest of the Mets who have floundered and relative mediocrity for the majority of the season in a way that Mets fans are pretty used to at this point. It's become the norm. And so we decided to talk up Jake degrom as we have for a while now because it's it's it's an emotionally difficult place. Because baseball is such a unique sport where you can go out and play well because of the nature of the sport because of how matchup driven it is because pitchers and batters it comes down to those simple things. Jacob degrom even though he was five for his last eight behind the plate can't hit enough to give himself all the run support that he needs and certainly can't play defense behind him in any way. He can only do so much and what he's able to control he controls better than anyone when it comes to this particular stat. And now max Scherzer still a guy that I think most people would put in front of degrom at this point. And he's got the wind total certainly back it up. But we decided he was our guy. We're gonna go degrom for Cy Young. That was something that we did listening later in the day to PTI. Listening to I think it was Frank Solon with Mike wilbon, and they were talking about Jacob degrom Cy Young campaign. And this is what will about had to say win the game. I don't care what the is. When you add them up at the, you know, the cubs probably handsome Cy Young award winning ERA champions in that hundred year plus year, period. And if somebody who said I'll trade that for the wins. They get me a World Series. What would you do if the answer is anything other than I'll take the wins? Then it's fraudulent. Did I resign from following sports? Win the dam pike, Mike, he doesn't get any run. Support is at three point six runs. You got. Hey seventies. Only hang tough only started in baseball. Hang. He's ERA is one point. Strikeouts. One hundred ninety four innings, right? Frankly, this is a tyranny of statistics. Now, this some this Frank there's some nights you got to do a better job. Will you gotta give up nothing or one Fisher guys are hitting. That's the mother nights where you get a break, and you can win a six five game where you didn't particularly pissed that. Well, ask guys like Bob gives it in Ferguson Jenkins who used to pitch complete gains about that. And then why about not Galvao support when the game first and last Michael junior here on ESPN radio and the ESPN app. I'm going to give Mike wilbon the benefit of the doubt here that this cannot possibly be genuine. I understand Mike wilbon not generally a guy that seems very stat driven or open to the idea of stats driving any sort of meaningful decision making in baseball. At least when it comes to this. I can understand that as a general ethos. But I can't really believe. That his message to Jacob degrom would just be do better. Hang tough. I can't like this has to be an active blatant trolling. I'm going to give him that. Because the rest of this answer is I wore Gino points, and may God have mercy on your soul. Mike wilbon loves baseball infinitely more than I do is probably forgotten more about baseball during the course of his career here than I will ever know all those things can be true and his answer can be very wildly wrong. This is the most base level sport answer that I understand comes up over and over again. But Mike wilbon knows better. So I can't possibly believe. That's true. And I can't possibly believe that he could have listened to our arguments for Jacob degrom ongoing go and somehow thought that was the appropriate response. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. But it wasn't a shot across the bow to us. But this is a shot across the bow. At Jacob degrom Cy Young campaign one which we can't take lightly. And so we will come up. We will rise up today. I'm sure I'm going to talk this over with dad and trade, but I have a feeling they're going to be on board. And we're going to defend the honor of Jacob degrom. We said yesterday, he's our guy. This is what happens you get the full package when we decide the Golic and wingo, we're going to put our weight behind somebody. Now, the weight of PTI may slightly outweigh us in the now who am I kidding now? Not at all not one bit. We'll pop it off right now series. I. In a very serious note. Hearing those comments I do pray that they're not genuine because how in God's green earth. Can you sit there reasonably until Jacob degrom to do more in this situation? To say that in the context of any situation. Well, he should have done better on XYZ ninety should have not given up anything. That's not how it works. Those other guys getting paid to those other guys are getting paid to go out there and be professional baseball players on his team, and they're not doing their jobs even close enough to what he's done with the gift that Jacob degrom gives them on most nights and been able to put him in any sort of place were winning as a possibility or even probable in most situations. So I could not disagree more with Mike wilbon sentiment there, if it is genuine, and if it is true because that's to me dismissive in a way in the process in this. It offers no real solution about how you hang tough even more at just one of those things you kind of dismiss away when you've resided yourself to a certain viewpoint that you're not willing to compromise on even if reason tells you that there is plenty of reason to so again, this isn't the shot at Mike well by the shot. An argument that I'm sure a lot of people are gonna make in this situation. Mike wilpon bond is probably speaking for plenty of people who hold this opinion, which is. All right in this situation. We still prioritize wins and losses while we talk about all those stats on there about how we haven't seen a Cy Young winner with a losing record one hundred years or whatever it's better. We don't we don't think of this happening often. Because usually when you've got a guy like that you've got a team that's able to capitalize on it in a way that we haven't seen now. So Jacob degrom. We will come. We'll swap will defend your honor. This isn't a fight with Mike wilbon. Like, we'll bonds are called we love Mike robot. But we love Jacob degrom. We believe his causes. Just and we'll make sure he gets the support. He needs ongoing. Go this morning, straight talk wireless nationwide. Coverage on America's largest most dependable four G L T E networks coming up next. "They're going to hold back a little bit of the final six weeks of this Frank. We see every sport of the Indianapolis Colts. We just talked about for years of to Tony Dungy. They were great. They throttle down and the only team that has it. It didn't work for the warriors. They kept it. They got the record and then didn't win the championship. So I don't see there being a whole lot of incentive once Boston clinches a week. What's next? Last one toss up, which player is Dwight Howard more likely to evolve into Anthony Davis or Kevin Durant? All right, this this story is slightly absurd because Howard's trainer has said that Howard, you know he has a master plan and has to evolve his game over really involves game. And you look at guys like AD and Katie who are about the same height and he can evolve his game and white credits. This is not the same NBA with Shaq. And the big mastodons who down low is not just about muscle. The problem is to white Howard can't do that. That's not a skill sieve, Frank, is it? No, it's not. And you know what? Eight years ago he should've tried to evolve into a chemo lodge. One, you're going to tell me that he's going to cross over like Kevin Durant and hit a pull up jumper over LeBron James, maybe closer to Anthony Davis given credit for trying to evolve with today's no men in the NBA, but I don't see it happen at this stage that lasts toss up is simply decided by, Nope, it can still average twelve and a half rebounds a game, the White House. But he ain't dudes or either. One of that's Antica free, throw. Let's take one last break. Don't get carried away. The Broncos VO Paxton Lynch, and third string, John Elway going to own this disappointment and Sam darnold gets high praise from an unexpected source. We'll tell you who up next, how thin lane do what you do. Ours. I hate option is brought to you by innovating and power..

"I'm not like Tony Frank and definitely win this what he won't. What's I toss up more likely to happen next year? Tiger winning one major or Brooks KEPCO winning multiple. Wow. What's happened? Wartimes thought Frank wouldn't thirty times that somebody's won two majors in one summer, but I don't think they kept could do that. I think kept kicking golfer the year next year. I think that his what he's doing all his muscle embalming I think more and more kids are gonna come play in a game that way. But I think Tigers more likely to win one thing kept it with all this new set of expectations is winning to give a kept. The remember he is three of the last six majors. Eddie's enters into Rin Tiger Woods. I understand. He was great in the British. He was terrific and the PGA championship, but he's going to be forty three years old next year. And he still is a guy that's coming back from back surgery. So while he did play well, this summer, who knows what he's going to be like eight months from now when he shows up and Gus. This kept by the way, if he wins that gives them five minutes before the age of thirty. That's the problem that will put them with Phil, right. And the other thing is Frank. You read about a fused back. We don't know the shelf life of that. So I think we're both sort of long shots, but I'm gonna take tiger particularly in the master's kept could be player of the year. Again, always going to be player of the year this year. What's next toss up, which quarterback should we expect more out of Carson Wentz or Andrew luck. Oh cuffing his his just brimming everywhere. Winter's going to be ready for the opener. They're saying in Philly and look has never looked better even though neither one of has been thrown on his butt or shoulder or his head for the first time, I'll see if you can still do that in pro football, defensive players are allowed to touch the quarterback. So even though you can't touch them, they both have physical issues. I'm going to say when women because I know that the AC l. injuries are things that people come back for more often quarterback the shoulder. Frank, I guess what my they haven't insurance policy by the new Nick foles who, by the way, did pretty well shoot. He filled in for Carson Wentz. This is going to be about Andrew luck. The future is now for him. He didn't play at all last season. All the reports are getting that. He looks great. Here's a remarkable thing about Andrew luck. Michael. He has not thrown a pass in a playoff game. Fourteen here's a guy that we thought was going to take the mantle from Tom Brady Payton manning that is not happen. That's what we can't presume. Can we broke the among others? What's next toss up more likely the Red Sox win one hundred fifteen or the Orioles lose one hundred fifteen. All right. The one fifteen number comes up and I'm sure there's some Vegas parlay get down on with this that they are both on pace to do the opposite thing with one hundred fifteen and change. I think neither one will happen because Boston will start getting ready for the playoffs. And I gotta go pedal to the metal and they shouldn't, and the Orioles beat up on teams who just playing out the string. I'm gonna say the Orioles more likely to actually lose one fifteen. Yeah, I think so too. Here's the amazing stat about this right now. If you look at the divisions in the AL east, the Orioles are forty nine and a half games, unbelievable Red Sox. So I'm not even at read at mid August. That's incredible. But the Red Sox, they're sending. The division eleven games on Houston, so they're not gonna have a lot to lower so they they are sale six inning the day. They're not going to put the pedal to the metal..

"'cause you, you're right. You can't not go to your bullpen for two whole months. That's not Michael. By the way you mentioned Machado. He and Matt Kemp in the month of August zero home runs to RBI's in both of those are. So Machado has not done anything since moving halfway through August two CJ McCollum was podcasts keep producing news, Frank, I, it was Kevin Durant now is Jalen Brown who said recently on their podcast. He's certain his Celtics will be in the NBA finals. Conju specifically Brown quote, oh, we're getting to the finals. No question about it. Close quote, Frank, given the Celtics, push LeBron seven games in may and he's gone to the west. Do you have any problem with Brown's analysis or is confidence? I like it a lot. I do think that Danny aines and Brad Stevens probably don't like it. That's not really the Celtic way, but he's only giving you the truth there LeBron James is dominated the Eastern Conference for eight straight years. He's gone and the Celtics who've made it two consecutive Eastern Conference championships only lose two LeBron they should have a healthy career ING. They should have a healthy Gordon Hayward. If you look at the east, I think that Toronto could be pretty good as they do have Leonard. And you know, I think if healthy, he should have a dominant season, but look at the east right now, the Celtics, they are absolutely the class of that conference. Yeah, Frank, I have. No, I have no problem with him even expressing it. I mean, part of this considering the person Jalen Brown is not some guy just colors outside the lines all the time and goes up shooting his mouth. I mean to me beyond well-spoken, just will thought out when you have conversations with him. He may be saying that with the intention of his teammates here to say, look, we need. We want to get off to a great camp, a great start it. We're going to dominate the washing. Nationals dominating division. The Celtics dominated division and a conference this year. I think the Sixers might be a candidate to take a little backslide a little bit of one. Even though they'll still probably be the second or third top three team in the east and Toronto. Like you said, I don't. I don't know what to make the wizards and and the moves that they've tried to make, but the Celtics ought to be the class of that. And by the way they've had guys over the years, Larry Bird notably who weren't afraid of expressing a little confident and Mike, this is why Kawai Leonard. He wanted to get out of San Antonio. I understand he wants to go to LA in Toronto in the east. You have a chance to dominate the Eastern Conference because you don't have LeBron you really have to worry about one team, which is Boston. That's why it made sense for him to go to the east. You can make the case. He's the best player in the conference. Celtics are the best team who is the best player. All right. Let's take a break but coming up. Andrew luck and Carson Wentz both battling back from major injuries who should we expect more from. And what is more likely to happen next year? Tigar winds. One major Brooks kept gets two of them. Yeah, two majors the second time. Let's get the list. Young though. The interruption is brought to you by Applebee's to go. Ellie's mom news. She had a strong kick even back in the womb and from then on Allie was always kicking a ball and saying she was going to play pro soccer. And one day she was kicking a ball against a wall. Her skills drew even more attention. Her boss said. Could you please stop that and gave me this quarterly numbers. I asked for turns out allergist wasn't that good at Tucker, but she was a good accountant. That's why she switched to gyco. She knew they could save a bunch of.

"And somebody said, I'll trade that for the wins that get me a World Series. What would you do? If the is anything other than I'll take the wins, then it's fraudulent, deny resign from following sports, win the damn get Mike. Mike. He doesn't get any run support. It's at three point. Six runs on you. Gotta hang these only. Hang tough only started in baseball, allowing to hang his your rate is one point, five strikeouts one hundred ninety four innings, right? This is a tyranny of statistics. Now there's some this Frank. There's some. Mhm nights you gotta do a better job when you gotta give up nothing or one. 'cause your guys aren't hitting the mother nights where you get a break and you can win a six five game. Will you didn't particularly pissed that will ask guys like Bob gives the Ferguson Jenkins who used to pitch complete games about that, and they didn't wind about not Galvao support win about a game. How about I asked Felix Hernandez? Who did win the side when to give him a son wouldn't have voted for twelve record. He led the AL and ERA in here about the Sobat twenty one games finished third, by the way you sound clear Roth trials. Yankees pitching said, you know what I like wins. I know. Which people are so blind to the purpose of playing sports. They will justify their own indulgences. I hate it if wins are not important enough for somebody, let them go straight back chairs or by the way, fifteen and five right now winds game the leader, but to Graham has wince and you know what? He lost his last two starts when his bullpen blew it, but he's winning the game. Franken, Tony should hang out. You said hanging off, he's hanging off, gave us a chance. Let's go to two teams going in stunningly different directions. Tony's Washington National suffered. Another heartbreaking, walk off ending last night. This one to the resurgent cardinals. That's back to back crushing losses for the nets who are now seven out of the division lead the cardinals. On the other hand, have crippled in five of the first place cubs after winning six in a row. The firing of might Latini before the all star break and the insertion of my Scheldt seem to be straight genius. So who is this now more about the Natinal st- cardinals. You know what I feel like the cardinals kinda do this every year where they go on one of these runs. And right now they're nine games over five hundred the first time all season. This is about Washington and those two devastating losses and the manager saying last night, I don't know what to do anymore, and he's talking about the bullpen because what in the eighth inning of this game, you have runners on second and third, and you decide to pitch to Matt carpenter who coming into the game as thirty. Two home runs, Sammy Solis Soza a pitch down low carpenter, takes it out of the part. You have first base open intentionally walk him. So when a rookie manager saying, I don't know what to do and this is a team that has terrific talent pretty good. Starting staff. I'm putting this on the manager, Frank. I agree with everything. You just sit ENA what it's all day. We've been talking about the nationals in this context and I live in Washington. So I gotta talk about him with the old crazy man who's usually sitting in seat in that studio. It's the same old story. It's not new. We've been talking about this April with the nationals. The stories of cardinals who are. Seventeen and nine since I think a lot of people were surprised by the firing Fini, and then we heard some reports out of there about the clubhouse in about some of the things Fini was doing like not wanting to hit Melina second in the lineup that is worth their fourth in e. r. a. which these speak to all fashioned Saint Louis cardinal virtues pitching timely hitting. I mean, they're in the middle of the pack of the National League in hitting, but the pitching Frank about the cardinals. This is the new story, not dog bites, man, which is the national blowing another one with the bullpen. That's that's old stuff. I know you east coast guys don't want to get off the nationals, but they're done. They're all news then that's bullpen..

"Pardon the interruption, but I'm Mike wilpon. You've been hosting multiple shows day this week break. Are you holding up. I'm soul on. Great. Which one is this? Let's see. This is the one where there's a guy and his dad and they're in the kitchen. No, two years ago. No, Not not that. that. Behind me. That's all that. On threes are good friend. I can't teach you that all year long. All you. Welcome to PTI. Gordon is out damaging golf course somewhere today. Do. I am very fortunate to be joined by our great friend. Frank is Sola. Yeah, the overwork Frank guy. Sola, we begin in an unlikely place with the Chicago Bears. Finally joining the other thirty one NFL teams by signing their number one draft pick Georgia linebacker roquan Smith. The four year deal for eighteen million dollars was never really in doubt. It was the contract language that could've put some miss guaranteed money in jeopardy. The two sides elder ground until last night when either somebody gave in or a compromise was reached Frank. What do you think this kid for battling this law? You know what? This is actually a hold out and it was twenty nine days long that I could get behind. Here's someone who doesn't have a history of onfield issues, whether it's a legal hits fighting with opponents, arguing with referees, and that's the language he wanted. Didn't want an his contract. This was about principle for him, and I think that rookies coming into the league, they're gonna use this as a template and look at what Smith did and his agents did as well. Why. I should. He lose money on something like a helmet to helmet hit when the referees aren't really sure about the rule, the Briars aren't. It's football, you're going out there making plays. Now you're gonna take money away from him in case he is suspended for one of those. I like what he did here. It's a bad look for my football team. My Chicago Bears a really bad. Look. We're going to take advantage of a situation. We're going to take advantage of new context and perhaps take your guaranteed money away. And I know there are players currently on the bears who say that the bears have been great about this, and they weren't seeking to take any guaranteed money away, but he's players for his own situation. Right. And if you want to guarantee you can't Russ any football team. They can do anything they what with most contracts because they're not guaranteed. And so most of your money is not guaranteed with the exception of some fabulously famous football quarterbacks, so good for roquan Smith and he did this now. I don't care the missed one preseason game. Because I think this is about three weeks and they play an extra preseason games, actresses he can be ready. The bears need him on the field and then gonna get over whatever bad feelings. There were what's interesting about roquan Smith. He's a guy that reads the fine print because when he was going into college, he verbally committed to CLA and they told him sign your letter of intent. And I'm not gonna do that. The coach set recruited him left. Guess what hate it. He never signed that letter of intent with UCLA. He ended up in Georgia, so this is a guy that takes ownership of his career. I give him credit like I said, his agencies are some credit. My going to law school either while he's in the NFL or after he should. All right. Jacob. Degrom sei-yung bid is gaining momentum after beating the Yankees. Monday night in the Bronx two grams record is seven and seven, but is ERA is a major league low of one point. Eight one to grab could become the first pitcher in a hundred years to finish with an ERA of below two runs and without a winning record. His manager. Mickey Calloway said that right now, the Cy Young award is to grabs to lose Mike. I know you're big on wins. Do you agree with the manager of the Mets here? Hell no, because I'm blind wins win the game, Frank win the game. I don't care what the area is when you add them up at the end, you know the cubs probably had some Cy Young award winning ERA champions in that hundred year plus year period..

"The, six time all star and Cy Young award winner is having. By far, the worst season of his career and his most recent struggles. Have. Seen his, ERA surge, to shocking five point seven three. And is unclear what his bullpen role will now be factor fiction king Felix has a last hurrah in him, as a useful, bullpen piece for a contending team in a playoff jas I want to say yes but I'm gonna say no his you know his velocity is not what you know what Now I just. Don't. See it I think Felix. It's amazing he's not even, that, old I, mean he's thirty two thirty three thirty two But the velocities down and that's gonna be a tough adjustment I mean the guy. Has never pitched out of the pen he's made, three hundred ninety eight major league. Appearances since the age of nineteen of two thousand five I think even though he's young still somewhat young. He started when he was nineteen he never. Missed any time until. About it from two thousand six through two thousand fifteen. For ten years he made at least thirty starts. Every year. Never missed any time and in two. Thousand sixteen he missed a little time last year he missed more about half the. Season this year he's been healthy for the. Most part he's just been ineffective. And he's been trending this way for a couple of years he was not good in two thousand sixteen. He was worse. Than twenty seventeen he's been horrible this year, in the numbers have. Been trending bad since really. Since four even twenty fifteen. He wasn't great but if. You look deeper into the numbers so he's been Trending this way for a while I do not. Think I know. A lot of guys go to the pen, and do well I just don't see it after nearly, four hundred major league starts that he's going to do that I don't think so now, our for though because I like Felix but I don't think it's gonna happen Astros as.
