"It, but not me. Do we have an answer today? Barbara? Frances, We don't have enough vaccines. Is that the only thing you also have to move them faster this we recognize. But I think we are moving him out. Pretty fast aside may have mentioned we we've received close to 700,000 doses of vaccine We've administered close to 300,000. The remainder are out. They have been distributed and there is providers are in the process of scheduling. Appointments that takes some time. But in addition, I think it's important to note the tradeoffs in some of the counties that are moving more quickly to vaccinate with that first does there then maybe a greater delay for many people in getting the second dose. Yeah, And that's right. Right? And that's why I want to try because you mentioned a timeline before for 65. Plus about one or two weeks. Has that changed any Because as you know the this extra surplus that the Trump administration had promised apparently has disappeared because it really doesn't exist. Does the timeline now change or and I want you to be a specific as you can? Because we got lots of listeners who fall into that age group, and they want to know when can I get vaccinated? Are you saying that within the next 1 to 2 weeks L. A County will move to start vaccinating 65. Plus, it's all dependent on the vaccine that we receive. We've been receiving on average between about 100,000 and 2 200,000 doses per week. If that continues, then the answer is yes. If we don't see that supply delivered, then it's going to be very, very difficult, and we'll have to think hard about how we try to prioritize increasingly scarce. Doses of vaccine do we expect? Do we expect that number to continue or were those numbers based on having this extra windfall that does not exist? It's been very challenging to plan more than a week or two at a time because there has not been very good communication, you know, with the feds in terms of what amounts would be Um Distributed, and so that's made it very difficult. I think what we would hope to see is a very steady supply. Consistent, high high level is possible, but at this point we just don't have that We are hopeful with the new administration that we will have more clear communication on what truly is available. And the pace at which it will be distributed. Is it fair to say that by the late by the latest the middle of February, if not the 1 to 2 week time frame that you gave 65 Plus in L. A county will have vaccine available for them. I would say so. I think if we're not in a position by by early to mid February to expand that there, there are significant problems and we need to understand the genesis. But again, we can't we can't manufacture. We can't squeeze water from Iraq. We We need the vaccine to be here in order to expand vaccinations. We do recognize again that there are various groups those 65 older but even some who are younger with multiple chronic conditions that place them at increased risk for severe illness. "Here. That's why we brought the White House Corona virus Taskforce here. Vice President Mike Pence held a press briefing this afternoon on what the White House is doing to help the state with the surge in Corona virus cases. We issue a particular plead a young people. I was informed today by the Maricopa County Department of Health that more than 50% Of all of those who are testing positive. America Open County are under the age of 35 pence. Commended Governor do sees actions to combat the virus by closing bars and Jim's, he says with surgeon cases they'll be providing about 500 medical personnel and specifically, they'll be going to hospitals in Tucson. Katya eyes on education. A lot of questions remain for the start of the new school year, including what would happen if a student or a teacher tests positive for Corona virus. That's a great question, and that's actually a type of guidance that the Department of Health Services is working on for us. Superintendent of public instruction, Kathy Hoffman says it's also not clear if enough teachers will feel comfortable enough to come back. She encourages schools to find ways to accommodate those teachers so they can still work and we can avoid having massive teacher shortages. We know now distance learning isn't going away with the prospect of more distance learning. Ilana Lowry with common sense, media tells me there's a major digital divide among Arizona students, 29% of students. Across Arizona lack adequate access to the Internet. 19% of students do not have devices at home for distance learning. The governor's order postponing the start of the school year until August 17th is intended for in person. Class schools can actually resume on time through online learning. Arizona votes After a flurry.

He wasn't in fact a breeder that we got him from he had about seven other siblings and they all went real fast and then it was just sunny by himself and she everybody kept looking and saying no no not for us not enough enthusiasm all kinds of different reasons and then She dropped the price fifty percent off. You know we went to see him and I looked into his beautiful. Arman shape dies and I knew immediately. This is an amazing dog so he started at about two years old. I recommend starting not too early but about two years old. I started with simple things like the shoe. 'cause I noticed he was interested in the shoe. I didn't know if you wanted to eat it or he didn't know what to do with it. So that's how it started. I said bring me the shoe bring it to Mama or the words and sure enough. He did not bring that to then. I said get the other shoe. And he went got other shoe. And that's basically I just kept asking more and more I'm like I have bad ankles and I have to navigate these stairs so I will send him upstairs for my purse. You gotta see the words clear and He will go upstairs into my bedroom. And get my purse and bring it down. And he's been doing that ever since he was two and is in stronger. I can't believe he does everything for the first time. You know it's like you don't have to it just against you know so what it is. It's his vocabulary. And he has all these words so I can line up a bunch of different things and ask them for something particular and he will get that particular item even though there's other items there so it is words vocabularies. Yeah tell us how this all works with your neighbor. Renee who is elderly has some underlying health conditions. Can't even go out for essential items on around today. She needs her prescription though. I will go and get her. Actually Sony will be going in to get the prescription so Yeah no she is on oxygen. She has heart problems and she's diabetic so he doesn't have anybody to help her. You know and I figured since he helps me you know I can send him there to help her and and the smile on. Her face is just amazing. Sure Yeah and she makes banana. Bread grows on a weekly and he went yesterday to pick up the banana bread and needed. Now he didn't need it and then when I opened it up I gave him a little piece. So he's he's very motivated. He gets a treat when he goes to her. And then he drops the bag soon as you see in her hand and then to bring bring it to. Mama take it now. Renee has a dog as well as Shitsu Do Son even takes treats over to her dog right he does. He had never done that before. Because I thought what most owners would figure that get a runoff in the bushes and they get them all but he. He didn't do it he put it into. Ziplock bag. The bag wasn't even punctured. He could see what the item is. Were and sure enough. He took those treats over to little nicky ESMA girl. You know it's amazing story sunny. It's just so heart warming and we're all looking for anything these days to put a smile grind face. That's exactly what this whole thing was supposed to be tested. No he would get as big as the got to be a little local thing. You know that I wanted to share with the world and you know being isolated is definitely not easy. I'm used to what I been isolated for over ten years myself so but other people. It's difficult for them. They don't know what to do. They're just you know tempers and all of that stuff everybody can just take a moment to to watch him and smile. Don't forget you need to smile. You need to find something to make you happy you know. So that's all I wanted to do was to help her and put a smile on the world's face and he has done exactly what he was supposed to do. Make everybody smile such a good boy particularly on today his sixth birthday humor from all of us and hug to you as well for Sunny Story. Your Song was perfect. We were hundred on facebook. "Western petroleum. So pleased to be joined by Congressman. Ken Buck Congressman Baca. Welcome back to the show. Good Morning I appreciate your taking the time. Now you have long been very vocally opposed to the Stimulus package this third stimulus package that president trump a- signed into law and indeed. It was a supermarket. Sweep of a bill especially when it came to the dams cramming it full of pork. Yeah it is It is a bill that is a related. I guess in part to the corona virus issues that we're having right now Enlarge part it is unrelated. There are so many things in that bill that were left out of previous Appropriations bills and really a huge problem. Because we're we're talking about now. Having at least three trillion dollars of debt on our books as a result of overspending by the federal government. One of the things that bothers me gail is. Why don't we ever anticipate that we're going to have a hurricane or a pandemic or Some sort of natural disaster that we need to save money for and use that money we are always overspending and then we are. We are overspending more. When when we find out that we have a disaster subtype now you you voted against the Stimlje stimulus bill. The Koran virus aid relief and economic security or cares act because as you have long said. The Cure is far worse than the problem itself. It is and I have to tell you when you say voted against it. There was a voice vote. I went down to the well. I spoke against it. I submitted a written Remarks that would have that are clear that I am opposed to it but there was never recorded vote held and that was another one of the problems that we have is that leadership didn't want anybody to be accountable and so they didn't have recorded boat. Yeah absolutely right but as you well point out I mean very accurately point out. This is not a two trillion dollar stimulus. It's more around six trillion right. Can you break that down? Sure what Four hundred Four hundred billion dollars of the two trillion dollar stimulus is an amount that is given to the Fed and the Fed can leverage that four hundred billion dollars up to ten times so that four hundred billion dollars becomes four trillion dollars and Added to the two trillion dollars. You're looking at A total of six trillion dollars that the US will be in debt at some point in time. I think the thing that raise so many of our eyebrows. I was just shaking my head in disbelief for the provision for things like public broadcasting museums and libraries and the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. I mean God love him but really. Yeah. It's it's amazing bill And it's not to tell you it's not just Democrats. Republicans had their Their hand in the pot also We have been stealing from the treasury's for so long that I think A lot of the swamp critters that have been there for a long time. Don't even have a sense that that's what they're doing and that the American public will object to it and again when you're talking about two trillion dollars. Those things are only And I say only in princesses only You know a hundred million one hundred fifty million worth but There's other things that are just baffling There's one hundred fifty billion dollars for hospitals We're talking about a disease that the life span of that disease will be less than six months will be less than eight months. So how on Earth Can Hospitals in America spend a hundred fifty billion dollars in that time period they can and so this is really meant to go law far beyond just the time period. Gal If you remember the story Abou John Hickenlooper using Nine eleven recovery funds to pay his attorneys. I'm an ethics charge. That's nineteen years after nine eleven. He's using those recovery funds. And that's what we're looking at in this. Two trillion dollar bill is every state. Every governor every Agency in the federal government will have a pot of money set aside. I took -CCOMPLISH. Whatever it is. They want the down the road. And they're using corona virus as the excuse all right president trump expanding That Social distancing program. That was expected to end. I believe today it was originally a fifteen day Slow slow the spread of Corona Virus Yesterday announcing doubt indeed would be extended to April thirtieth and again You have been very very clear about Shutting down businesses. And that's what we're looking ahead toward for thirty more days. What will this do to the country so I think what? President trump is doing a lot of sense. What president trump is giving our advisories? He is talking about the fact that in in Most situations what we should try to do is make sure that we have this six foot distance between us or or Greater Try to stay home. Try TO You know go to a different Events or places less than we have been going to try to flat mccur. That's one thing. The governor's around the country some of the governors around the country have Gone in and and and I'm not criticizing them because we still don't know the The extent of this The spread of this disease. I mean we. We don't know more than we do at this point in time. That's right and a lot of the information that we do know is actually being withheld from a policy makers for example. I just read something yesterday. That over ninety five percent of the deaths in New York are individuals who have pre existing conditions like asthma or emphysema or other diseases or conditions shirt and and some of them are terminally ill. Cancer patients who who died a few months prematurely. But if you read just the number of deaths you would think that this disease was gonNA wipe out the population in America and so we really need to start sharing that information so we can work more directly. Focus our attention on a certain population groups. Let me ask you a question because there's a lot of Caterwauling going around about the constitutionality of Basically those stay at home orders and our freedom of assembly and To me it seems that that's a conversation not for now but perhaps for another time the concern of course is that Well those liberties will never be restored. Yeah I think the liberties will be restored. I think the question is whether this is a slippery slope and future leaders feel like they can use these powers more easily. I think what we have now as A situation where the governor of is said. You can't go to church. You can't go to a political events go rallies for example we won't have our state assembly in person this year state Republican Assembly but But the reason is a very valid reason we have this disease and the spread of this disease and it is deadly. So the governor has the power Just to spend a certain Civil Liberties the What what has to happen is we have to make sure we'll get those civil liberties back. We do everything we can to to protect those but The constitution gives Governors of the president the authority to suspend certain civil liberties in the time of an emergency. Lights this yeah. This is not unprecedented. I to my knowledge. It's happened at least three times throughout history. But meanwhile back to the stimulus bill The third iteration How do we pay for this? How where does the money come from and as to your concerns is the concern that the action by the Fed well actually cause higher inflation? I had well. There's GonNa be something ahead I don't know what the crash looks like I do know that we just brought the date of that crash up Pretty significantly I have heard anything from twelve to fifteen years from experts when they look at the Aging Population Workforce that we have in America when you look at other demographic factors and economic factors as interest rates rise. The cost on our debt will rise and be more significant portion of our budget And at some point The crash happens at this. A worldwide crashes nobody is GONNA bail out the US right. Congress now looking at fourth round of stimulus It seems to me. There's probably a lot of consternation over that I think there is. I think By some my others. They'll use a A crisis as an excuse to to spend money. But his congressman. That's right and and one of the things we have to do. Is We have to look at the lessons. Learned WE HAVE TO CHANGE. Laws like like hip So that we can share information better About trends diseases we have to look at other things so I think there will be legislation. That will come from this but More spending is certainly not what we being at. This point congressman. Ken Box. Certainly appreciate your being so gracious and generous with your time this morning. What is your message for us? Your constituents all my messages we will come back and we will be strong and and It won't be that long. It may be another two or three weeks. Maybe another four or five weeks but our economy will get back on track and we will be outdoors enjoying the the beautiful days in Colorado. And I am. I am an optimist and I really look forward to the time when We can mingle wants today and shake each other's I give each other a hug because it's part of who we are in in Colorado it in America. I love the glass half full philosophy. There's something to look forward to congressman. Thanks again for your time. Be well thank you. You also eight forty eight now thirteen ten. "Trevor Reid writing and yesterday's Greeley trip there are now two hundred and sixteen known cases of Kovic. Nineteen in Weld County and nine deaths attributed to the novel Corona Virus Saito Eight. Now Thirteen ten. Kfi K. Mornings with Gail fueled by Great Western Petroleum. As of Sunday state officials have reported more than twenty three hundred known cases across the State with three hundred twenty six hospitalizations and forty seven. Deaths joined this morning by executive director. Weldon public Weld Department of Public Health and environment. Dr Mark Wallace Dr Wallace. Spin on the front lines as you are. Thank you for all that you and your colleagues are doing now seem so. We're having some technical difficulties with our telephonic equipment This morning Alrighty well meanwhile wanted to ask you and mica perhaps you could try to get Dr Wallace back on the line. If you would be so kind that would be great. Wanted to ask you though about these maps because I know I kind of looked at them with a bit of a quirk to eyebrow because once again you've probably seen them in the Greeley Trib but they are being put there for a reason because there is kind of a vacuum of information and unfortunate labor. While let's just say the human psyche doesn't like uncertainty Dr Mark Wallace on the line. Mica okay so trying to get in touch with Dr Watt there. You are Mark Wallace. Thank you so much for taking the time this morning. Absolutely all right So yes as your communications person said Eric Ako. We know it's here and we are dealing with. It is well. I don't think widespread is too much of a stretch. This as you announced a thirty four new cases and two more deaths bringing the total of Cove Nineteen cases in Weld County two Two hundred and Sixteen. Are we prepared? we are prepared. We're moving forward. We can We've got a lot of planning this week to bring some things online. They're gonNA help out Our hospitals and the folks who are Most needs care We need to continue to practice. What we've been talking about for awhile gotta stay home if you're sick and we've got to do that social distancing and I'm watching people give it a try but I'm going to encourage them to Try even harder to keep that space. Because we're finding a lot of the cases have been in close proximity to other people. Of course. Of course. Yeah I wanted to ask you about Those maps that give well the approximate location of the covered. Nineteen cases Throughout Weld County. Because that's been Matt Greeley trip didn't editorial saying that There little bit concerned over the vagueness of these maps but I understand it because well. There's a whole lot of concerns that you need to incorporate into making the decisions to put that information out there patient privacy among them. Right that's correct. We're trying to strike that balance and it's hard to do and we understand both sides of it what we were concerned about when we were working on those maps that a lot of folks are beginning to You know judge is if the Kobe. Nineteen only in one location. And that wasn't true. We needed to let people understand that Cove in nineteen is affecting communities across Weld County and so the maps are vague for that reason mainly just to say. Hey It's here Assume it's everywhere and that's what we're working to try and do so that balancing Let's not make it to specific As we're we're trying to protect the rights of the individual and the FDA approving a malaria drug to treat Cova nineteen this on top of the other treatments. That have been talked about. Tell us a little bit about The efficacy of those treatments to your knowledge. Where when I'M GONNA I'M GONNA have to be very careful of is and we appreciate that. The FDA is attempting to move quickly with approvals. We're going to have to rely on our Experts on the field here to these certain they're used correctly. We've already seen some stories of people you know trying to get hold of the medicines using them in incorrect doses and not medicine not intended for human use so we just want to be sort people stick with their clinician. Be sure that they're only taking it. If it's been prescribed by an expert locally it seems there is some promise there and it's interesting that you brought up I believe the hydroxy chloroquine and the Z pack. Seems there's some promise there with that but Yeah I believe One Gentleman in Arizona. Actually use something that he used the clean as fish tank with to trade himself. And no I mean you make sure that you are exercising caution and following your physicians Directions yeah that's correct is one of the things that when drugs and other treatments come through like this where they have undergone the full study that we would normally do. There is some risk and we WANNA be sure again that is being used really wisely consultation. with a clinician who is really able to follow this more closely as these drugs come out and are tried in different situations. Where do we stand with? Test kits and P. P. E. R. You know we're going to be Hosting a Dry through testing them over at the ranch in conjunction with the State Health Department and Larimer County That is a limited to people who are either healthcare professionals or Emergency personnel. Like our fire and police Who have symptoms but haven't been able to return to work because of a lack of test that we're going to provide some testing over there tomorrow and possibly again on Friday so we're beginning to see some more of those test kits showing up here in northern Colorado. And that's a big help. I especially in these people that we want to be. Sure I'm can stay healthy and get back to work if we can get them attest it's been called a game changer. This as the FDI FDA. Excuse me Authorizes Abbott Lamps Portable Five Minute Corona Virus Test? It's the size of a toaster. Yes we're I'm hopeful that some of these will really help that we've got a look at them closely Be sure that they're going to be accurate and telling us a negative so that we don't get people to false impression on that it's negative so I know we're looking taking a close look at that. We want to be sure that they're going to be really reliable. But obviously they're going to be a help as they come out. And we begin to see where we can use these to gain more people of access to treat the testing in the meantime social distancing exceedingly important to Flatten the curve and slow the spread of Cova nineteen washing your cans. All of the things that you have been recommending remain in effect absolutely absolutely. Those are critically important tax. Mike Wallace thank you so much for your time. The update this morning certainly do appreciate it. Absolutely go thank you be. Well dodger. Mark Wallace Executive Director Weld County Department of Public Health and environment..
