The Grim Sleeper Serial Killer

"From at least as early as nineteen eighty five to at least as recently as two thousand seven a serial killer lonnie david franklin junior eventually dubbed the grim sleeper roam the streets of south central los angeles where he was born and raised targeting young and particularly vulnerable. Women this killer kidnapped raped beat typically shot his victims with a small twenty five caliber semiautomatic pistol often carried in his shirt pocket. He obsessively took photos of his victims. Both dead and alive both clothed and nude often sexually explicit positions saving them as trophies and keeping them carefully tucked away in the garage behind his home where he worked his youngest victim just fifteen years old not apprehended until two thousand ten. The grim sleeper roam the streets of south central for a quarter of a century incredible. He got away considering how careless he was this murders rather than carefully hiding the remains of victims in some heavily wooded body disposal site. He typically just toss him out of his old pinto an into some urban alley. The bodies are often discovered the next morning after he killed him and he almost always shot his victims. Water were still sitting inside his car. He left so much evidence he took photos of the victim shared them with any of his friends who wanted to see him not the best way to not get caught but no one tipped police off to him and he wasn't caught for so so long. Why how nhi no human involved and h. I was a term thrown around by some lapd officers originally investigating the murders in the mid eighties when the killings began and it was used because the victims were often sex workers or all assumed to be turning tricks on side at least an all or at least nearly all of them addicted to crack cocaine and there were black. The term crackhead was thrown around a lot and hooker. It was like the victims weren't seen as humans reviewed less than human. They were black. Crackhead hookers so who cares. Nhi no human involved so no real investigative priority given but this is not going to be some lapd blame game some apathy from the lapd only partially explains why lonnie was able to keep killing for so long.

Is Racism in America Causing the High Rate of Black Fatherlessness?

"The moment that we all of a sudden de-emphasized fathers being in the home and subsidized fatherless-ness. We saw all these other trends increase so in the one thousand nine right before the civil rights act passed about twenty four percent of black children. Were born without a father. Now it's upwards of seventy percent you guys can look at the washington examiner. It's seventy seven percent. Let's say it's sixty five percent so something has to explain that forty point increase back yet. Just let me finish yet. And and it's not necessarily that. America got more racist. It could be the cocaine thing which you know is a common issue. It could be operations of all these things. But a forty point increase. I would point to a culture. Fatherless-ness really bad government run public schools and then subsidizing behavior. That isn't good so there are a few things that i can agree with you. On first of all having to people in your house to raise you pretty essential You absolutely this is undeniable While i don't believe in shaming single parents even if they're single parent did mrs bad decision making. It's still good you need. It's up in this economy one parent honestly but with that being said there has been research shown that the rate of black fatherless-ness is somewhat over exaggerated in large part because that number only applies to married fathers so husbands raising their children. It turns out when you account for unmarried. Black couples taking care of their kids. The numbers actually rise to those just think just below white couples. I think there was an article on that. I don't know if i remember sought advice but attracts back. Some really big study. That was done back in two thousand sixteen So that's one point but you are right. There are perverse incentives for example Many welfare Stipulations cut off With a shared income which is only a few thousand dollars per year higher than the necessary. Cutoff for the single income. Meaning that if you're a single mom You can apply for the welfare just fine but then if you get married or otherwise file jointly you get you go above the cap for welfare. This is a horribly program undeniably ended incentivizes bad destructive

"Marcus they must remain here so first off. Can you tell me about your current job. Like what kind of research do you do. Sure so. I'm a study director. At charles river labs in horsham pennsylvania. I work specifically in developmental and reproductive toxicology or dart as well as juvenile toxicology and essentially what we test drugs that are developed by different pharmaceutical companies and were determining their safety. So we wanna know one. Are they safe for pregnant. Women women who are currently pregnant and as well as the developing fetus. Are they safe for women who might be nursing. Are they say for men and women who are looking to conceive some or is it safe for children so a company may wanna repurpose job. They currently have in use it for juvenile. We would do the testing to make sure that that can happen to do this. We use several study designs. We have an embryo fetal development studies out. We have fertility studies pre and post-natal studies as well as juvenile toxicity studies. All right do you have like an example of some your work that you can tell us about. New York's Legendary Mole People

"On a cold evening in nineteen ninety two journalists jennifer toth accompanied six new york police officers on their patrol through the new york city subway. She'd been inside the tunnels before. But this was the first time with a police escort. The cops hopped onto the tracks. Flashlights in hand. Toth was careful as she climbed down after them. Stepping over the electrified third rail the tracks were live which means that one accidental touch of the rail could kill her instantly as they walk deeper into the tunnel. Toth noticed a few discarded. Needles and glass vials. That used to hold crack cocaine a disgusting odor filled the space. She spotted human feces everywhere. The tunnel was silent except for the faint echoes of dripping water and scratching rats. Then a figure moved in the darkness. A behead heavy footsteps move toward them. One of the cops swung his flashlight around his hand drawn to his sidearm. Ready to draw and fire bay saw the figure race up a rusty ladder leading to a small room hidden in the tunnel. Ceiling toke was sure. It was one of the infamous mole people. She and the cops gave chase but the figure seemingly vanished. The cops weren't willing to go any deeper into the tunnel so to meet the real mole. People toth had to go into the darkness alone.

Mexican Coke (MM #3755)

"The Maison with Kevin Nation. If you live anywhere with a growing Hispanic population, when you hear Mexican Coke, you get excited. I don't mean cocaine talking about Coca Cola because there's a difference between a Mexican Coca-Cola and a regular American Coca-Cola. It's all about the sugar that is used in America. They use high fructose corn syrup to sweeten a Coca-Cola in Mexico, bottle down there. It's all about pure cane sugar. It's the way Coca-Cola used to be back in the olden days but we switched to corn syrup. I think in the 1960s and 1970s and I used to think for sure it didn't matter. It was about the same thing. Really what, what is the Mexican Coke? Always comes in a glass bottle, which does make it colder, allows it to be colder than the plastic bottles of the cans. But when I had my first Mexican Coke a few years back, I was sold. It's not quite as sweet as the high fructose, corn syrup Americanized version of Coca-Cola, but there's something special, there's something refreshing and yes, it's the combination of being in the bottle and being the right temperature, and being just the right sweetness, Mexican Coca-Cola. If you ever see one on a menu, it's worth the extra money. Trust me on this month.

America's War on Drugs: 50 Years Later

"Carl grew up in miami in the seventies and eighties grew up in a predominantly black neighborhood. Would some would deem resource poor and he got a very clear message about drugs. People talked about drugs in a very same way as they talk about drugs. Now drugs are bad on do drugs. Drugs are the source of are suffering drugs. 'cause addiction drugs are the reason that people die prematurely plenty of people in his neighborhood drinker smoke cigarettes or we'd but there were drugs that seemed out of bounce wants people warned them about drugs like crack and heroin. It was nothing to see a public service announcement with someone like peewee. Herman this is crack. Rocco peewee. Herman would be talking to kids saying something about. Everybody wants to be cool. Hey you wanna be cool like me I don't do crack because doing crack is like putting a loaded gun in your mouth and pulling the trigger and that state in my mind for a long time. Some of my assumptions were that a drug like crack. Cocaine was so addictive one hit is all that was required for the user to become addicted. Everyone who smoked crack cocaine eventually became addicted and then about the people who use drugs. I thought they were horrible people. I thought that they were irresponsible. People i thought that they could only focus on getting another hit if their drug. It would take me a good fifteen years to start questioning the story that i was telling myself. Is it fair to say you were scared of drugs. Yeah it's fair to say that. I was absolutely scared of drugs. I believe those messages so much so i decided to study drugs And try and figure out how. I could help people who were addicted

This apparently secure messaging app on hardened secure devices on the black market for criminals to buy but as well as setting their masseuse to each other also sent them to the fbi. I love that criminals out this making the most hardened secure devices and feeling that they've they've got it which made them very open about what they said on this device to you know collaborators and the messages were just bouncing off of another server and being sent straight to the fbi where they can build up these giant array of data about these things people who are very definitely criminals. This is them pulling information from all citizens as has been shown in the playoffs by Snowden this is very targeted but it's the the criminals themselves who have volunteering into participate in this. It's brilliant. i absolutely love it. Paid for the privilege went to fbi dot com to buy a new phone. I like this is over the point that you make that You know this proves that you don't need to back door every communications platform that's used by regular consumers that you can do. These talked stings. Actually go after the criminals on the platforms that they using rather than just you know use pepper thing. I'd love to think that the gps was on a naturally precisely where these people. I would absolutely think that's all they did. I mean so you've since everyone's applauding this take one second to stand. Up for criminals Maybe not but yet. I go out and you this thing. He was my God atoll of our military vet. We do. All right. So we met. He was my. We were deployment booty calls as I would like to say years later here we are. Okay. Okay. Yeah, I never thought I wanted to get married, have a family, any of that kind of stuff. But then after a while grew up when you're in your twenties versus when you're in your thirties, you know different things. So we should I go into everything. I need you to say Helen, did you guys date? So we dated for about ten years. Okay. And. How did he pop the question? So we were broken up actually at that time, why did you break up? We broke because I had decided that I wanted to be married and he. That I was playing of, obviously I was not. So when he figured out that I was not playing and was dating other people, then I gotta ring now remarried. So boy. So so the break was a year, you know, I was doing some dipping and doing. Okay. Follow up questions. So when you were dipping and doing, were you doing that with. What kind of guys like describe the dividend doing? And I mean, I don't want you to be disrespectful to your husband in any way. Who are you? Who were you attracted to? Outside of him? Who was I tried to people the good job. Okay. Croly Engineering's engineering, things like that? Yeah, that was basically is about black white. You know, equal equal opportunity. I was having a good time definitely was, and now I'm nice, married innocuous. Yeah. So the partied missing in the middle is that she's dating other people. She got these niggles over here trying to why for up on the side, I'm overseas working and I get a message from the now husband saying children, pitcher, ring, I got this ring for your sister. I'm going to propose, and then I say to him, aren't you guys broken up though? For a year. Yes, yes. Broken up here about a year, right? It's a longtime one year. He just popped up. It was like, Hello? Yeah. So. It was a feeling here, the new guy again, and you're not going to do that. I'm not going to buy ring. I think year dating, you maybe. They're both dating. And I said, well, this is going to be interesting, but I'm in. He worked out and worked out, love him who her hopefully. You love her husband, her husband like a brother brothers. This comes first..

"Right. Everybody will catfish and cocaine. We are always excited to connect with you guys today is going to be a really interesting update orga our podcast, we're going to be talking about dating updates, and then we are going to take some of the questions that we got in from our listeners from Facebook and Instagram, Twitter in over Email to ask the men. Their perspective on things, so it should be good. So, hey, yes. Would you mind sharing a little bit about your dates? Yeah, you guys? Well, I'm still dating the South Carolina gentlemen. We went out southern gentlemen. Yeah, he is. He is really, yes. We did. Going going elite. Oh, you know what? Buddha. That. Ridiculous. We went to Roosevelt room. A place. I haven't been there before and he hadn't been there either. He picked it out because it was close to me. So that was nice. Q. southern gentlemen, very, considering he liked that place. He never as they're definitely when we got here. I'm jokey had definitely Houston so dark in here what's going on, but it was dark in there. Yeah, it was a really fun time how good conversation we talked about our five love languages. Joe brought it up. He running up and then. Guessed the mind and I was to guess his was the accurate. He was pretty accurate. He's we're gonna start your first one is going to be gifts at. Yes. And then my last one that actually would have been my guess if I'd, yeah, it was. So he was pretty accurate, went through the top, our love languages. But yeah, he brought it up and I went through his. His was more words of affirmation person. He is why doesn't nice, which is a good. Yeah, and then but we both had the same thing time as number four because we're okay being by ourselves and alone. So that's good. Doesn't need to always hang out with. People could just hang up by yourselves, which is same thing with me. So that wouldn't well, and we're going to go bowling. So yes, I know. Yes, shin was talked. Okay. This is again clear. I can't stop myself. It seems so shit talking was happening. And so we're going bowling. We have whoever loses we're gonna have five things. They're gonna put inside a hat. WALE the person has to do in pull it out has do it, and it was all incident was real innocent. He's like, he's like, well, I don't wanna get in his southern at all. Nadi by might ask for a kiss and I'm thinking, oh, he doesn't eat thirty minutes. That's what I was gonna put in out for thirty minutes. He's talking about kiss. I said, okay, that's ninety each thirty minutes. That's lovely. I'm glad. I'm glad he talked about what his options might be, what might be ninety so that I can make sure Dow back mind. Yeah, he's telling you that way to put this stuff in the head. Right? What. My surprise. You girl. Yeah, so we'll probably be it's usually twice a week tone crown. Yeah, you wanna you don't wanna do the for thirty minutes if they don't know what they're doing turn. Yeah, it is. Minutes at the most into. In town. Say, find you take longer than it, but I don't know, maybe eight. Maybe we talk over line. You've got tips. Yeah, no man language tell you a lot. It's a woman controlled issues and they can't get on this. Summer hand to be penetrated my dif- different ways, though, tongue jabbing me, I'd rather have. It's a damn lizard. No. Okay. Sorry. Sorry. Yeah, so it's going well, we still haven't talked about. We're not when I bought up, but not exclusive very well aware, but before before even make it to that area, we don't talk about. I know he's open for marriage, so we're good on that. But we haven't talked about children and he is eight years or so older than me and hasn't had any. But that's the last dill breaker question. Yeah. So what is your own? I'm having kids. No, either adopt it is what has own kids. That's fine. I'm fine adopting brothers and sisters, but if it's like no children than a dill breaker. Okay. Can I ask a few follow of questions? Do you think he's dating anyone else now? He definitely isn't. Right. And it's been on sets months, right? You share that what we but you're not really dating anybody else? I'm not closing. I'm still swiping on my bumble. Okay..

"Stop texts. You know, I thought it was a real person just missed their tests, and it was just wingstop. No, damn are right Irish j. o. OG Bobby Johnson who? Oh, jeez, coming this weekend way. Have a drink. Today. Bring domino's. That is contingent upon this is children's first week in school. I guess school. He wants to make sure they're like solid, and you know, his son is going to high school for the first year, you know. And so I really. I respect that he, you know, he would pull back if like something was going on with his children and he needed to be there for them. So we had a long conversation. Last week. I know everybody's rooting for g we are. We are. That's an anal species beginning to this mother fucking speech. No, we had a really good conversation and to the point that you brought up about partnership versus, you know, coaching somebody up. He's Marco. He would be my coach and that is a very weird and uncomfortable situation for me to be in. And so I think that like I've been holding him to this like weird regard or like holding him to this weird standard because I'm like, no, I don't eat any coaching, but that I will take some coaching. You know, she's too uncomfortable because I've never been in that situation where the person that I'm dating is so much further ahead of me in terms of like financial strength in like, I think it was a little bit intimidated. Even though I keep saying that that's what I want, and then I get it. And I'm like. So anyways, we had a conversation about that, and so we'll just see where things go. So so no. What was your conversation about? Did you guys talk about? Like what took you so long to reach the point where now he can visit you? What was the conversation about? Well, we talked about when we initially met and like he had been in a relationship for twenty something years. Two point he didn't know how to date. He certainly didn't know how to approach woman like me. I've been on the dating scene the whole time that he's been married. So like, do you know the corneas and the things part of that is just his nature. But part of it is like not exactly knowing how to gun game. He doesn't wanna have game, and that's nice. That's a good thing until. Yeah, y'all probably could coach him up a little bit, but kosher. Nego- coach them up. Got his girl. Oh, does he doesn't know me his name? No, anything else doesn't see. We'll see. But the reality is that he and I have very easy, honest conversation with one another. So we talked about all kinds of things that he admitted about like it was like, I didn't know why you like me, and then you came and visited me, and then he were upset with me and then this and then that and I was like, Glavas just going through a really rough creek Uson with Jay. Imagine that. Okay. So it was just a lot of honesty about where things and there was never any animosity between the two of us like we didn't end badly or whatever. Just neither one of us was ready, and I think there's okay to say that and then reconnect when you are. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And the brother still would. He's brothers. Still sent me sell fees. Does you did you address the cell fees? I mean, he's gonna sending them. Was praying, he will this relationship. He was like. That's part of compromise because she addressed the cell fees and he's gonna just keep sending them issues going to be okay, I'll do my thing and he's and she. Because. Yeah, you have everything else I want. Am I going to be like on stop having all these photos of you? You know what I will say that, you know, now that you say that we said to jokingly, but that man wasn't willing to give up that, but like his own call it, but that like that is part of him. So he's not going to give up a part of his personality in order to appease anybody. So that focus se here bitches another fun. I took. And so you're like, okay, what do with this. It's. Abusive..

"And you could be good for my home girls but like depending on how that keeps going then you just in a friend zone i i won't i don't date people that i'm like that had that much of a connection with and isn't gonna weird way like a friendship versus a relationship if like we can just hang out in bond and like do all this stuff together i don't like it there's a lot of perplex looks sever i know i know i know they're like as saying that they had a great time they dance we hit it off on that but i'm like but no no he's not in the friend zone yet could be heading there com trying to kind of help him like the nets day was like what that ask them bowling which like fun but like if i keep going on this like going back and forth with him then it's just like us to shit talk it it's not like ever gonna be relationship just me and my friends talking shit versus like a relation substance more more like oh you know like your hot superfish it's not yet and it's not an ils take too long to get there so then i'll never make it there i i totally under so so i mean we will we'll see i haven't talked to him a couple of days but it's but you are attracted to him he's not ugly so that's okay more than that he's not no no no he's an attractive guy that but like i don't have the attraction where i wouldn't have sex with somebody when i'm meet them he's not gonna have sex appeal well no one no one does when i meet them like that i never want to jump someone phones when i meet them oh god you so i don't wanna do that i don't even know no i don't style is now i know it's not it's not my style yeah they do that so it's like yeah he's attractive i continue going out with him in but maybe after like five six seven eight dates i might wanna try it try it out but but he's also black though you know fill about black dick i do you.

"What do you do for a living you live downtown this nice you run out okay hey ruined all day with dogs in yoga pants lesson they look fantastic but anyway yes i think sexy sexiness like the it's more about how you carry yourself and i wouldn't necessarily have a problem dating woman and she decided to just you know she's voluptuous and has all shit out i really don't kicks at this point my life like might look if she gonna mess around on michigan mess around me i don't give a shit but she looks good and she's with me now shit so dating but would you consider like mayor she had all her stuff out would you think it as a serious relationship where you might i'm married this what would your parents like who whether it be any hesitation every time you went to family functions her titties out adema uncles crooked tail they'd be like with our just be a girlfriend i can't marry this girl but like well i like her the only way that i would think like that is if you can tell if they're dressing sexy just because they like to sexy or they have real self esteem issues anybody real self esteem issues that's the biggest red flag on earth because i don't know what that motherfucker will do she will go she'll do anything in order to crave the attention that she needs to sustain her ego for whatever reason she has damaged self esteem and she's dressing that way in order to satiate selflessness fuck that so it depends totally but what if your mother was yeah.

"Oh but that's why it's also important to not just like base the relationship off of sex because as time passes it brian they differ yeah and you have to be simulated and so many other ways i think said that i'm telling you you absolutely have setting like cool cool is cruel until you realize talk about exactly and then you life takes over and your tired and you're both careers in the new children in the mix and it's it's a divorce when the kiss our eighteen they moved to calm comment stories of life we got the key come on in yeah okay no no actually have keys i lost them keys along time ago i feel like we're close to the end are the podcast yeah yeah yeah so good one i wanna remind everybody that you can find us on facebook catfish coke you can find us on instagram catfish cocaine you can find us on i tunes google play and you should spotify spotify and you're always welcome to email us a question if there's something that you would like us to discuss for one of our future topics you can post on facebook you can email us a question and i think that's the end for tonight cheers y'all thank you again for tuning in always a pleasure to have these conversations with our crew one of the pieces of feedback that we've heard from our audiences that they really find a relatable personality once they listen to the podcast on a continuous basis so if there's something that you guys feel like is missing give us feedback we're really interested i would love air you think but for the most part we are really just grateful that people are tuning in every week we are growing our audience base pretty significant significantly week after week so thanks for telling your friends we appreciate your listening ears more homey no no.

"I mean guys we are in our damn thank thank you there he's shaking his head to we're in our third i gotta go and like with you oh you don't agree with me but he think once a day shit that if i'm got bad knees i can't be i'm not in the beginning of a relationship i feel like it's always a lot of sex right so i remember with my ex husband we were just getting it in like we lived in the same highrise downtown we were having sex sometimes few times a day and that's of the ex boyfriend for sure we were getting multiple times a day but eventually as time passes and even whenever we were like nive married we're engaged i would be like listen once we get married we have to have sex at least once a day like everyday as not an option eventually over time seven years yell over time it was like we need to have sex at least once every other day and then that dwindled into we need to have sex at least once a week that's not okay and then it became like at least once every other week like that happens and we even have i can't even fucking imagine whenever you have children like just whenever you're with someone day in day out you are attracted to that person you love that person but fuck you're tired like the option of having sex with you versus us like going to sleep early going to sleep early sons real great sometimes so in theory i'd love the idea of having sex with my significant other wants today but the reality especially as day in day out months and years pass yeah right to be able to actually sustain that and keep that up is just.
