"Did you see you for you? I've seen parts of it. Yes it's so good but it's like an eight part These high school kids are all fucked up. There's a couple on it named Mattia nate. They're the most ridiculous abusive crazy couple ever. And I'm like you guys were like matinees buckling hard but when things aren't going well it's right. It's like an equal thing on each other. Oh so you know you've been shared that you have lost your mom and I've lost my parents too but have you bonded with any of the other cast members that have also lost a parent because you guys are young to have lost. Apparent like law And Jacks and Arianna Donald while on Arianna like I'm I'm closer day to day with Arianna but that was one of the first things that law win I had ended up talking about in in Bonney over. Yeah IT'S A. I'm sorry you've gone through that anyone who's lost Especially in your formative years and not that I have anything else to twenty two was really young. And Yeah just. It's a steady club by. You really gravitate for people that are in the club and on each other. Excuse now yeah okay. So who's your favorite standup comic besides me? Obviously I'm besides you. I would say I would say and you're like once you reinforce so we're down to five I'm saying I would think DEJA PAL or Lewis Black Larry. David is a fragrance I feel I haven't really dry sense of humor and love his sense of humor. I think any Schumer is incredible. I remember the first time I saw her. Which was Duration doing a comedy central roast of someone. I can't remember who it was now. I dismember rebinding. Her part over me like fuck is this relic. She's so funny and then you now her show him out and I started senior. Stand up and she's incredible. Okay now what did you think of? Sheena this season. Now I saw last night. You guys are friendly now. But what do you think in the beginning of that whole thing? She kinda kept coming out you. I mean what would it even as well? The fog is your problem. I haven't done anything to you and it was. It was such a coaster repair so I mean I think that I know Heart more now and I do think she's a good person and I do think that she needs well but she did really wrong by me out of everyone I was. I was like these nervous to meet her. I thought you know she seems like someone who's really is said welcomes new people has been the the kind of had to take it from other people may be more compassionate or empathetic. But it definitely wasn't the case so I don't know it was a lot. Apps announce I mean I thought it was kind funny but it was just like. I don't know now this Charlie. It's pronounced Charley Right now. What's what's her deal. Where did she come from? She just cast to like like. Do you have any idea I had no idea I mean I. Yeah I think she was. I got involved with mixed biking. She was cast. Also I mean we started at Sir on the same day but I remember like meeting her debut. I I don't really know Charlie Harley is saying I I kinda thought. She was like a Sheen Alight. But then last night's episode there really is a sheen alight. And she's in Vegas. That was the other thing that was crazy. I thought that was the most. Maybe just maybe which unit maybe when she was in Vegas doing her show. She drink water after midnight started multiplying. And then you know what I mean like in Gremlins when that happens and then all of a sudden they're just like sprouting out of the cocktail. Barbie. I'm she has the same voice the same laugh and then she boned backs. I mean I when I saw over Avonex shortly after when I saw when I saw a photo of her I was like Holy Shit. They're twins now it's will also just to have that outside of the same like energy and cadence invoice and laugh. That was insane a weird season this season and that it's kind of feels like there's two shows going on you know the the. Oh Jeez go away for whether it's Jackson Britney's wedding or this past episode Vegas Wedding and they cut back to you guys folding Napkins. I I see what they're doing. I personally think that there could almost be like to complete shows here and like that you know. They're introducing New People but it's sometimes. I think that audience feels like the interaction between the New People. In the old people feels more forced than we've seen in previous seasons because in previous seasons they really did bond because they had a history and they all worked at this restaurant but now none of them were working at the restaurant. But then your you know your people you and Max and you know Brad and Charlie. The New People and Dan Cut. They really are working at the restaurant. So it's almost like I would almost put get a couple more people to join your end of it and then still follow the. Oh Jeez in valley and maybe I don't know what you think I mean again above by big right. I don't fucking notes going on. Compare it to like this the first season I was on but it I remember filming. It didn't EULEX OSOS upgraded. I don't I mean they also like obviously a lot of stuff doesn't make show or whatever but then seeing it back it does it shows. I get it but I also need personally. I feel like I got closer to some of the Oggi's toward the end of the season after filming so I definitely feel like I have relationships with some of them but I mean I think it would make sense to be that. I don't know how the work in I think that there's such a loyal fan base for good reason to people who've been doing this show for a long time and people also don't like change and also maybe just don't like I don't know but it's like it. It'll be interesting to see what happens next season. Who who comes you know? I don't know anything yet. You know like maybe I won't be back with. I don't do you feel sad that you're the only one that's like in an average apartment. Do that why you're the only one still in an average apartment. Now it's like when they go into your apartment it feels like the seasons of the show past. They're nice ass places that make me feel Gremlin. No I like I mean. I love my apartment or your parties. Neither do your apartment is great and anyone that lives in La. That's great apartment. But I'm saying you're saying no. There's no there's no bitterness and like all in due time right like. I don't think I'll probably have apartment private life. No but I you know I took a big gamble and changed my life in the last year and just ride that way but no their houses are dope. them so galaxy. Tv IS HARDER THAN. Let's say it's that was the most surprising to me like it is. It's three that we're filming but it's really draining. It's all the time and when you're in situations it might normal life. I'm sure anyone else. If there's not this constant source of contention from one new -nother things that are falling because about really stick all these different personalities into a room and it's it's exhausting. Yeah and now you came out as bisexual to at the pride now. How did that like talk about that? A little bit. What's your feeling on that? Why you decide to share it well at the time like I was filming. But I didn't know if I was GONNA make it on the show like you. You don't know what's going to happen. I even that I could imagine how it's already been so. It's not something I did for me. It's not something I like. Sat Down had this conversation at something. I posted on social media that I wanted to do and in my eyes I'm sure different people in different parts of the world or country day. It's a big major thing by like had said people really knew new in. It just wasn't a big deal that I fell in years prior may have had different situations. Rided guilt shame you sexual Just in Los Angeles. I moved here started doing standup in really lead myself. I'm Eric Su and I'm Neil Patel and today we are going to talk about how you can deal deal with haters on social media so neil here let me give people the story and then you can kind of add to it but I I think this is good example in the past when we'll actually she knows. Neil you should give the story yourself and then maybe ask you some questions on it because I think you have a good case study. Let's say okay when you were coming up with Uber suggest fright. You said you were going to really compete with the big players out there. I remember listening to some other podcast. People like there's no way Neil doesn't understand how complicated it is so there's a lot of this like people just not believing in you right and saying. Hey you know. He doesn't know how hard it's going to be. He's probably not going to make it work so there's just a lot of Haiti going on and probably a lot of it. You weren't aware of so I. I think that's actually a potential solution. But that's a good example and I think another one might be when you test it out different ads with guy models girl models yet. So I've done a ton of experiments out there. I've done a ton of things about a lot of hate out there. I'm probably hit a law by the SEO industry which is fine you know it is what it is and you know Eric has it right. One of the the best ways I deal with haters is I just ignore him straight up like I don't really pay attention to 'em people send me stop being like. Hey Neil these guys are calling. Yeah I remember. Eric sent me a video. One time of someone calling me and they said that one of my youtube was elated. Mention their name was pointing at them. I don't know who they were until Arik on me. The United Relieve in watch it but the big thing ideas I dislike nor it and I found that when you fight fire with fire respond usually just makes things worse. It's just easier to straight up. Just ignore the haters on social media and by the way I think a good example of this is God. What what's her last name Charlie Harley from Tick Tock so she's I think she's got over fifteen or twenty million followers now on Tick Tock. I think because of her tick tock kind of fame. She has maybe a couple million followers on instagram as well but I remember she had a meeting with Gary V's all I was watching this when I was eating lunch. Engine a meeting with Gary V. She's like how do you deal with haters right but at the end of the day like it's same in response from Gary. It's they're just like if you're working on amazing things. If you have a lot of amazing things go on your life. You're busy already. You just don't have the time for the haters like even if you you wanted to engage with the haters you just don't have to. It's not a good use of our time because the only thing that you had that's really fine. I cannot be refreshed. Is your time. So you're better off not trying going to fight these people because what ends up happening to Neil's point on twitter. I've seen really respected entrepreneurs get in these flame wars with each other and it's just like dude like it's not a good use of your time all the head space you spend on it. All the time spent being stressed and thinking of a comeback and just like all this back and forth you could have been used all that valuable head space to put into this. This one idea that might generate you. Six seven eight nine figures right instead of you know just mindlessly engaging someone that you probably don't even care about yeah and not only does it take up space but when you respond to people it just creates more and more issue's initials never ending through better off just ignoring all of it. That way you don't have to deal with any of this. This and I found that is just never ending and the haters when you do responding love it by it just keeps going to. It's not even just social media. It's like Neil you know for a fact that there's people that talk behind your back and I know there's people for factor talk behind my back to but at the end of the day like you know I will still on my end when I see him in person. I'll act like I don't know about it and I'll find a way to turn it around right because it's better to have people that are on your side then just have entities. Just let people say things that you know people like saying things. But I'm still gonNA find a way to use it to my advantage so I don't mind I actually find it. Flattering when people say things about me when they don't want US clear that they don't really we know me that. Hey like I said you see him person you just act like you don't know and find a way to make it an eleven eight out of Lemons. I don't know how you are with this Neil and meet the people in person. It doesn't bother me. I just let people say whatever they want. It is what it is and move along with my life. But my time with whatever's important to me you try to help others and call it a day. Yeah like I said guys look if you want to forget about the haters work on amazing things work on yourself if you're spending too much time to give the haters. You're probably probably not working enough on your answer. I would say like hustle up a little bit. Maybe that's the wrong word to use Bot a bigger impact on the world then just engaging with haters that is it for today but before we go. Our event is coming up in one month. This is our growth accelerator. This is happening in San Francisco. March eighth through Tenth Got Amazing Speakers Former Mer facebook Cora while front growth Guy Andy Johns dribble CEO. "Brand as a platform and her employees. These are encouraging her to stand up on social issues including climate chain. She's a leading voice on environmental sustainability in the fashion industry. Also her take. Hey Con profit-sharing. She owns sixty percent of her company and her employees owned the rest plus her advice for all of us as parents out there. What she wishes she'd done differently as a mother and how I lean fish reduces meditation the guide her work and her life here at all? I'm subscribed today in our politics lead today and indicted associated Rudy. Giuliani is now detailing to CNN. What he claims was his role in getting the US ambassador to Ukraine fired left partner says he told president trump in spring? Two two thousand eighteen that he believed Maria. Vich was bad mouthing the president and just seconds later harnessed claims. The president told his top aide to get rid of her APARNA says a serious credibility issue but some of the evidence he has produced has further backed up the allegations being made about the president and his team in the Ukraine Scandal Dole has CNN's Alex Marquardt reports today Secretary of State. Mike Pompeo finally address but one of the questions that text messages provided by Parnis has raised three days after it was revealed that Ambassador Marie Ivanovich might have been under illegal surveillance. The country's top diplomat her boss. Mike Pompeo finally broke Rocha's silence and address the issue on right wing radio. We will do everything we need to do to evaluate whether there was something that took place. There I I suspect Beca much of what's been reported will ultimately prove wrong. A State Department official said today an investigation had already been launched on Tuesday after text messages between American and Robert Hyde and Giuliani associate left. Parnasse were handed over to Congress but it had not been addressed until today surveillance on the ominous text. Conversation Disgust Duvanov itches supposed- movements and Kiev. She's next to the embassy hydrates then later they will let me know now when she's on the move pompeo today claimed he knew nothing about any surveillance of Uganda. Which I'll tell the story broke? I had that's my recollection at never heard the hide also denies ever tracking her. Those are pretty heavy accusations. I mean it's colorful. We're planning Parnell told Anderson Cooper. He didn't take hide seriously of be honest with you if I thought he was it was real out of contact that the authorities Ukraine has launched an investigation of their own. Now eight eight months after you. Ve Arnovitz was removed by president. Trump's Parnasse says that you von of it she was a career diplomat was created and that he personally heard trump demand that she be fired. I told the president that our opinion That she is bad mouthing him and that She said that he's GonNa get impeached. Has Reaction was. He looked at me. I got very angry. Basically turned around to John Follow and said fire her. Get rid of her. Whether it was about Uganda or the broader quid pro quo with Ukraine. Parnasse says nothing would have been done without the president's order. Who would do anything without the president so I wouldn't do anything without rubies now? One other name. That brought up is former energy secretary. Rick Perry Perry led the US delegation to presidents Alinsky inauguration and harnesses that Perry spoke with Rudy Giuliani before and after and was told to tell the Ukrainians to launch that investigation into Joe Biden when they didn't and Giuliani blew his lid. According to the Energy Department maintains that Perry had only one call with Giuliani and never heard Biden or Barista come up. Jr Dogs Mark. Thanks so much. Let's chew over. All this I e Aparna said he coordinated directly with Giuliani and they had a protocol to prove to Ukrainian officials. Dell's that has had some political power. Take a listen. I put him on speakerphone than really at that. Time told him that I represent the president of the United Right States. And that everything. I say that to be taking with that authority rudy. Giuliani said on speakerphone. To the man who now runs Ukrainian intelligence that you represent Giuliani and the president absolutely not the president directly heating represent the president correct. And that's why they spoke to me and that's why they that's why I got out of there alive and we should point out that John Dowd who represents Who has the player that he represents? Exactly well he he's representing Rudy. At one point he was representing the president and then he came in and was supposed to be representing partners and other men represented legalese. Yes yes yes and said that they were working on the president's legal team I'm and so therefore some of this would be attorney client privilege now now. Of course the president is saying he doesn't know anything about foreigners he doesn't you know he doesn't have any recollection of them and the White House saying. Oh you can't trust PARNIS. He's he's been indicted needed. This is a pattern though right like basically they the president is either tangentially or people connected to the President Rudy. Giuliani who the president doesn't deny has said this is my personal lawyer. People connected to them they get indicted and then it's all well. You can't trust this person. They're not trustworthy. They just got indicted. But why are all these people even in kind of the outer circles being able to be connected to the president and that issue of Rudy. Giuliani saying I represent the president of the United States. Some of those documents that were released. That's what he says he says. I represent the president in a personal capacity. But he's still still think I represent president trump. You have to think that that if you are in Ukraine and you're getting that sort of letter from Rudy Giuliani. Are you going to think I think yeah. I should take this meeting. Because he's connected to the president he's representing him and some personal matter. But I WANNA make trump mad but I mean. I'm not a lawyer. Charlie Harley is but The the the idea the president could have personal business with a foreign head of state or foreign actor is also puzzling. I don't know what the leaker Rudy writing a letter to the Ukraine. Yes exactly like wanting meeting with them. And even though it's Rudy's personal personal attorney well there's a personal business between heads of state that you legal counsel for the RNC. What's Your T? Don't you find. Do you find this. I understand that left. PARNIS is not going to be carved on Mount Rushmore tomorrow but problematic beyond that. I think this is a distraction. It has nothing to do with actual charges that are going to be in front of the Senate I I think the important part of the story is that Giuliani has been pushed out of the legal team. If they wanted to commit Sean Hannity then Rudy's a great lawyer but if you wanted to convince swing senators whether that is Joe Mansion or whether that's my old boss Mitt Romney than having someone really respected like Ken Starr. You're in the person with the most investigative experience probably in America. That's Robert Ray. Those are really effective lawyers for drought in the middle argument. uh-huh and I think the president stepped it up by bringing them in and moving past sort of the Giuliani show stuff. You don't think embarrassing that he cooled in the Jeffrey Epstein Legal Team to represent at present the most important moment of his life star and Dershowitz both represented among others. I have to say that Jay and other I'm greg what's wrong with our media right now or is to say that Ken Starr Judge Star. Who spent a quarter century as one of the most respected lawyers lawyers in America and Alan Dershowitz on the left he was talked about for the? US Supreme Court. He is a legal lion for liberals on constitutional scholars. All or left Baylor in two thousand sixteen under cloud over what he had done in terms of sexual beach try. Lots of football team does scans of star and of course just on his impeachment record. Trump is on record calling him a lunatic for trying to impeach Clinton now he hires the guy to defend him in his own impeachment trial and I think it sends a message to the world is a reminder to weed unnecessary reminded to the world. The Republicans find with impeaching president. So as long as they're Democrats but not if Republican greatest a message bring here. Because is that a distraction because there are lots lots of clips and we ran a one or two of them of Ken. Starr making arguments that one. CA- against Bill Clinton that could very easily apply to Donald Trump in terms of for instance. Not Turning over documents or witnesses it seems impeachment is such a political process. We've seen this with politicians. We've seen this with lawyers now that it's very easy to switch sides and whether or not the American people choose to hold them accountable for that. That's the open question. But this is the nature of this process there are so many parallels or the opposite side with the Clinton impeachment and we will keep on seeing this but it's not it will be for them to judge for instance Chuck Schumer played back then saying that there should would not be witnesses today. He's making the argument. You stick around long enough. Yeah she'll come to be fair to Schumer Schumer. His argument then was the witnesses already been heard in the house here. The argument is Mick. Mulvaney is not being heard in the house John Bolton Helping Hood and now that's why you need to Senate everyone stick around. We got more to talk about the Pentagon I said No. US troops had been hurt in that Iranian strike in Iraq. But now the story is changing as more information has come in the latest on that next day with us we are back with our world lead now after initially claiming that no Americans had been hurt. The Pentagon now says that several. US troops were injured when in Iran fired sixteen missiles at bases in Iraq. Last week. Eight servicemembers in fact percents Lonsdale Medical Center in Germany in three to camp are if John in Kuwait to treat concussion symptoms. Now a defense official tells. CNN can take days for those symptoms to appear defense secretary expert was just made aware of the injuries injuries yesterday. We have a team of correspondents covering the story across the globe. Let's start with Arwa Damon in Istanbul. An how are these soldiers doing. And tell us what you I saw when you visited the base after the attack. Well our understanding jake is that the expectation is that they we'll be treated and once they're given medical clearance they will return back to their posts at the al-Assad airbase with the military is saying is that they they went through regular routine checks as they do when explosions of this nature happened. Close to anyone. And it became apparent that some of these service people needed to have additional medical screening for their own health and also perhaps to a certain to err on the side of caution because look jake it is not at all surprising that they suffered from concussions from some sort of brain trauma all my given what we saw and what we heard when we were at the al-Assad airbase just a few days after this ballistic missile attack by Iran. If you look at the areas is that were targeted Jake. You had uh sleeping quarters you had operating areas. We've heard stories of troops who were extraordinarily close to the the impact area where these missiles landed stories of soldiers who had to keep while these missiles raining down on them holding their post's holding the security around the perimeter of the base. Because remember at the same time they were also receiving intelligence..

"And it's for two ways at this four. The only one I find times keeping a smoothie is very very a straw there this evening. Thanks Frank Sinatra. Can you know without Frank Sinatra Frank's Frank Sinatra Audra. Unless I ain't nobody evacuate who is is it maybe in junior. This is not nicely enough to be frank frank. Yeah no I'm Italian. It's not frank okay. You can't get the one show. We tally Italian. I grew up with myself than though at all what I grew up with. My parents literally dancing to Frank Sinatra in the living room the kitchen which in almost every night you know putting the record player on back when there used to be record players style for sale at like urban outfitters. Yeah well this is the original. This was the only option back then. This is actually an African American. This is like Nat Nat King Cole. Or somebody breaks out. TRA- no it's not it is not looking at the moon cover. Okay don't argue with me. I'm going to let it go all right. Everyone now that we've opened the ship sunk recently. Welcome come back to one life. Radio this is Bernadette with diamond gray. I've gotten Avi Mendoza Mo Bro. Set in studio with me Ashton Slovak and Mallory alary skates. Don't tell me I've got it written down here skogen. It's a but it's pronounced like an oh so that all I'm always confused the host. Oh my Gosh but you two ladies let me introduce you so Ashton. is the managing director of development in and personal relations at the love pit inspired by the love pits mission Ashton began volunteering as a social media coordinator and quickly fell in love with the organization. She's continuous continuously inspired by the number of people willing to collaborate to save each dog one at a time And Mallory She he is the innovative programs and grants director at the love pit rescue. She adopted her. First Pit Bull Bruce. I love that name Bruce in twenty fifteen and she he fell in love with good. Old Bruce Mallory has fostered sixteen dogs since two thousand eighteen and her favorite part is still bringing h foster out out of its shell and I totally agreed. It's the most wonderful feeling in the world when you can heal any living thing Mallory hopes to educate the public and get people involved all by developing innovative programs. At the love pit you can apply to foster at the love pit dot. Org Okay Ladies. Let's talk about this. So how did the love pit become com How did it come to be well our founder and president after bell? She was on her way to a meeting in Dallas and she saw this dog in the middle of the road so she blocked incoming traffic pulled over said come here sweetie and she sweetpea came up to her and she saw this massive hole on her face oh no and sweetpea was licking her on her arm arm through her the hole in her mouth and she changed Athens life she went on. She went home posted on posted on instagram and basically got a response one hundred better than she ever expected so with all this extra money she actually saves sweetpea. She gets a rehabilitated And then goes to the Fort Worth shelter and saves thirteen additional dog like a month later. And you guys keep switching if you're wondering why the voice keeps changing. We're sharing sharing sharing a Mike today. So just roll with it. Okay minus were basically the same person. Just dogs and T. L. P.. Well you're you're in good company because I'm totally the same way I'm GonNa break into Charlie's voice here at some point during I can't wait. Well you know okay I went through hell to okay and Bernadette found me ever since it's perfect it's really do. I don't know if I'm scared or having fun Charlie Harley Way Are you asking me Charlie about forty five pounds. So what are you saying saying that somebody with a small dog in our world. Forty five pounds pocket Pity never said he knows a little dog. Oh Hey Charlie needs come on no Charlie. He's amazing and he. He spent just an amazing. Ah He came to my house and I was like okay. I'm going to find him a home right away because I know how weak I am that lasted about two hours. They steal your heart. Oh Gosh she I'm I'm like I'm so weak when it comes to that that's why I've got like twenty three animals. It's ridiculous do you really. Yes I dare go. Cats and dogs have ten ten dogs and thirteen cats. This is my. That's my dream my fiancee's like Oh you have to stop me. Yeah like this because this is impossible. Well you you either have to own a shelter or create your own and make a lot of money to support. Yeah but you know the love hit. This is so it's so wonderful so let's talk back to T- Two sweet pea okay so sweet pea was she the victim of dogfighting or something. Is that how she lost part of her. I have no idea a lot like with most of the dog that we rescue. They're they're just abandoned. They found strays. They returned into the shelter. Some of them are surrendered by their owners. We try not to focus on their past and we focus on their future the rehabilitation getting them in a foster home getting them in our training program and focusing on the good. That's inside Idem. So let me so. So how how is the love pit setting itself apart from everybody else. What are you guys doing that? Nobody else is doing. What we're aiming for like Ashton just mentioned where we want to make it like a badge of honor to be a pit bull to own a pit bull will be ostracized by people in your life or treated like you're less than like to rise above tough circumstances? That's something to be proud of. Yeah we don't ever focus on the SOB story. We don't really. It doesn't really matter you know if a dog was used in a fighting ring or not because they have so much potential inside of them they have you know. Different personalities doesn't matter with such a great message and I might add that we can do this with people to you know L. WE You know I was raised in a home on Italian Homo Italian Irish where we didn't throw anybody away. We don't throw people away. That's how I was raised. My father was the most devoid devoted loyal. Father Man that you would ever find very generous with his time his heart a very compassionate and I was raised. You never just throw things things away. You don't really not people animals whatever that is. And so you know. And you're you're in this be rehabilitation business. Except your your rehabilitating people. Well Yeah and so what do you what do you think about all this. I love it. It's a great synergy for what we get to do you girls get to do you know it's the same thing we're all beings right and the more are you can treat one another even including animals as they should be treated It's that's that's what you're going to what you put in the world. That's where you're going to get back now. It is in life like I'm malary's are innovative programs director and we just started our youth program where we're trying to capture the minds and the hearts of these the youth in our next generation innovation and give them these principles where we don't throw any way we give these dogs a chance we we don't bully people we don't think lower than that and that showing them that these dogs we don't have to give up on them and we can train them and we can help get them in a home and show the true spirit of these animals in their hearts and giving them those principles tools to think of people that way grow them away and be a good human. That's our that's our thing. The Human I'm I n really however maybe I really am. I just. I'm looking at both of you with such admiration. You've got incredible spirits. You do and I love what you're doing so the thing that fascinates me about this The love pit is that it's not a shelter. It's one hundred percent foster based right. That is absolutely right so anytime we you know we do have T- LP HQ headquarters in Dallas so so so gop. Oh sorry the love the love hit there ain't going we're asking their he's very bad habits. So yeah so we're totally totally foster base and you ask what sets us apart from other rescue groups..

"The curfew. Add that to a lot of things that were going on. And it just didn't add up for Terry. So early on Terry had reservations about the relationship but while he felt that he didn't act on them he just basically hoped you know about leave this alone. It'll flicker out either. Charlie move on or Arain will move on his best. Buy this kind of lettuce. Take its own course. But when Charlie gave air in a rain it became clear that this who serious so from that time on McAfee's began limiting errands time with charlie to once a week in their home under their watch or so they they thought it as you might expect Erin was furious with her parents. She confided in her aunt that she planned on running away to be with Charlie as he was GonNa do it when she turned seventeen. And I get that hindsight is twenty twenty. You look back at a relationship and you say well. I was naive to believe I said Yeah. Sure we'll oldest culet. I was naive to not act on my gut when I see that. This person is disregarding authority. Eh is ignoring her parents and their wishes. It's very clear that better choices could have been made and then when they say okay once a week here under my supervision. But you're going to go to school where we're not he he is so we're just going to -ssume that you aren't going to see him at school and you're going to go to work and we're just GONNA assume he's not gonNA show up there. I mean come on and so all they did was pushed the relationship underground. They wanted to keep an eye on it but all they he did was push it into the shadows where they couldn't see it but now it was January at Aaron's relationship with their parents was continuing to deteriorate more more and more Aaron and her mother were at odds. Aaron once called Charlie and tears telling him that penny had slapped her in the heat of an argument for their parts. -pinion Terry began to see a new side of errand. Remember how I described her early on sweetness personified right. She had once. It's been so sweet compliant too very involved member of the family now. She was not compliant. She was defiant. She was talking back to her mother and her father bother. She began to dress differently than she normally would. Just messy according to Terry. She wasn't interested in things she used to be interested and she seemed to have lost lost her smile and had distanced herself from her youth group. It got to the point where she didn't even want to sing at church anymore. So you have to think it. Is this just evolution. Evolution is this normal teenage rebellion or was it something more is very obvious to me that she was getting her needs met in a very very different way. She had a substitute source for her need to belong for her need for acceptance and she she was in new territory now she had been in the conservative. Behave yourself orderly religious life and now she was is with the bad boy and she was walking on the wild side and it was exciting to her. Those other things now seem childlike called like they seemed out dated. Terry pity tried talking there and but she just kept shutting down. Terry began to get suspicious. That Erin was doing things she should be doing like drinking. He just hoped it was drugs. Did in early February penny overheard Aaron giggling one night after her phone curfew when she discovered that Aaron had sneaked her cell phone into a room and was talking to Charlie. Well that was Pity had had it. She grounded aaronow all the spot. She and Terry took away her car keys and her phone and for weeks. Her parents drove her to and from school. But as far as Aaron was concerned the worst part about her punishments meant that Charlie's harleys weekly visits to the house were suspended even at miracle. Faith people began syncing that things were just not ready to Cathy home. pity was quiet and withdrawn from goes to February and she turned down going on a women's church retreat saying she needed to spend more time with her family at Church functions. Aaron who had always been so cheery cheerier enthusiastic was now a Luth and distracted. She just could not care less what was going on. Did it late February around the time errands. This behavior was spinning out of control. Terry's father became ill one day. When Terry went to check on him he found him dead of a heart attack and even though Terry Ahead Min especially close to his dad family certainly paid him tribute at his funeral? They performed amazing grace in his honour. -Tarian bubba played Harmonica Artika with penny on piano but again Erin was out of sorts. She turned in a listless half-hearted performance at her cousin who by far did not have errands errands natural talent outshone her. By now even to Pastor's wife noticed a change Erin a few days after the family buried. Terry's Dad Penny Stop Stop by the local library and her sister had seen a disturbing post on my space in had told penny she needed to check it out. Sure enough when penny went online to look at Charlie's at least my space profile. Apparently for the first time she was shocked on his page. Charlie had comments about having sex and getting drunk. Something something no parent wants to read from their daughter's boyfriend. Charlie's profile showed him with a bottle of Jack Daniels but even worse one of Charlie's friends had posted on on his page saying quote. Bring your bitch girlfriend over this weekend and we can get laid as far as Pinon. Terry were concerned turned. That was the final Straw. This relationship had end when Aaron came home from school that afternoon. Pinon Terry were waiting. Terry was never never home. That early and he could tell Erin was nervous. Terry told her in no uncertain terms that her relationship Charlie was over. You are breaking up with him today. Here's the problem with that do you as a parent have the right to dictate what your child can and cannot what do in the answer is yes. Legally you have the right to do that. They're minor you're the adult. You have the right it to tell them what they can and cannot do. But let's talk common sense in the real world can you enforce your dictate if you tell her. You'RE GONNA break up with him. You're not ever see him again. Are you prepared to back that up. Can you police that. Can you enforce that. Can you apply that. And of course the answer is no you cannot build a fence high enough. You cannot watch her enough if she wants to be with him. You can make it tougher but you cannot make it impossible. As she does have a job she does go to school. She does get outside your supervision. So you don't want to dictate terms that you cannot enforce because when she determines that you cannot enforce it then you might as well not set it with way. Aaron had been acting. Her parents expected major pushback but remember what the reaction was when they sat down together. And said you'RE GONNA have to slow down. They said sure no problem. Same thing here to Terry any surprise air did not protest is dead. She told him she wanted to break things off with Charlie for a while but had not not being sure how they figure. This may be was why Aaron had been so moody lately but whatever the reason it was a huge relief to -Tarian Penny who had expected her it just pitch a fit. Get upset yell scream cry instead. "This episode is called. Tell life do us part. On the first day of the Dan Marquel murder trial had begun more than two who weeks earlier on September. Twenty sixth two thousand nineteen it. Eight thirty a M sharp judge Hankinson 's stickler for being on time Kara letters the local government reporter at the Tallahassee Democrat. was there from day one. He has sandy curls and most oh stays is dressed in standard business casual attire a button down in a tie when he's not at the paper he's usually at the courthouse. I'd say my the office is the second pew in the Gallery of the courtroom. The trial took place in one of the larger courtrooms. Typically were grand jury very proceedings are held. It's a cavernous windowless room. Where the home? From an event often drowns out the most softspoken witnesses on that first day the courtroom was packed with reporters from local. TV stations and the Associated Press and a producer. Dateline headers usually sat in the same spot. Aw with a direct view of the jurors and the action on the witness stand down. Marquette family was seated by me for the entire trial. They were there every day. The first day of the trial deputy assistant state attorney Georgia Koppelman was seated at the prosecutor's table off to the right of the room. Him on the left a handful of suits begin to crowd around the defense tables. A Clean Shaven Sigfredo Garcia wearing a black sport code and Sky Blue Button down shirt entered the courtroom. He smiled Katie Mag Panama. Who Wore all black? Her long black hair hung down her back. Doc these to the accused killer the accused go-between alleged murder for hire plot both faced first degree murder charges. The estate claims to Freida was the trigger man who carried out the Dan Marquel murder. He was up against a death sentence. Both sides give opening statements. Thanks to the jury will start the floor. The evidence in this case will show that up. I was assistant state. Attorney Georgia Kaplan. She laid out the prosecution's case starting with the details of the day. Dan Marquel was murdered. Right away Carl. Editors noticed something pink odd law enforcement meets with Markelle ex wife when the Adelson whereby they learned that she has been embroiled in a very contentious divorce worse than continued litigation with Mr Martin Donna. Adelson despise Danmark. Hyundai's brother Charlie. Adelson has made references to hiring a Hitman to pill Dan Marquel it. Took Georgia Koppelman twelve minutes to even mention either the defendants standing trial that day. After SORTA that long lead up even mentioned the people that are sitting there at the defense table who are on trial for this homicide. Really sort of lets you know where. The prosecution's head is is at dressed in a black suit. Her blonde hair worn down cattleman walks through the complicated relationships of those involved in the case and Wendy any Adelson had a problem and her problem was named Dan Marquel the solution to that problem was mcdonagh Rivera. And and Garcia she explained to the jury how Sigfredo and Katie were an on again off again couple. How in one of their off periods Katie started dating Wendy's brother Charlie Adelson? How Katie allegedly got the father of her children and his best friend Luis Rivera to kill Hill? Dan Marquel how the state believed. That job was paid for by Charlie Adelson and his mother Donna. I believe that he will be convinced. Beyond a reasonable doubt that the state is not pulling a fast one on you but rather that Catherine Mag Vanhala was hired to solicit lissette nurse who in turn solicited Rivera to come to Tallahassee and to execute Mr Marquel in cold blood at the conclusion of the evidence I will ask you to return a verdict of guilty as charged for both defendants. Thank you of course. The defense teams uh-huh had their own theories the prosecution's relentless obsession with arresting that eating family has led to this day. This moment in this portal where an innocent person is being accused of private. She did not commit Donna. Adelson Charlie Harley Adelson when Adelson. That's their real targets. And so what do they do big laugh. The low hanging fruit prosecutorial doc desperation. That's the only reason why cavern battle is sitting before you today charged with a crime that she had absolutely absolutely nothing to do when Kadian Sigfredo were arrested. Investigators seem confident. One of them would crack and tell them everything. Everything about the Adelson's involvement in Dan marquess murder but to most people surprise that hadn't happened. They don't have anyone testifying coming to the fact that they were hired by the Adelson's to commit this homicide and this was the unavoidable challenge for the state. One of the things things that prosecutors had to overcome was explaining to the jury their involvements while they're not there in the courtroom so they contended the entire trial they were the ones that were behind this but they also had to convince jurors that the two people sitting at the table who were not in the Adelson family were the ones is that were behind the actual murderer instead. Prosecutors ended up with a murder for hire case with the accused murderers Katie and Sigfredo although as defendants but the family who according to prosecutors. Did the hiring whose names were all over this trial. Were nowhere to be seen or almost nowhere hurt. Please introduce yourself and spell your name. My name is Wendy. Adelson W. E. N. D. I on the afternoon of the second day of the trial. Wendy Adelson took the stand dressed in a black blazer that she wore over a gray dress when he's is an attorney so she seems fairly comfortable on the witness. Stand to be honest with you. Would you consider your divorce with Mr Marquel to be a nasty divorce. I think most of us aren't very pleasant. Okay but this one was really unpleasant right. I found getting divorced to be unpleasant. Wendy was asked questions about her divorce. From Dan. Marquel she characterized it as something. That wasn't that contentious not let's contentious as prosecutors said. It was throughout all this Kadian Sigfredo watched intently from the defense tables occasionally leaning over to talk to their lawyers Wendy's testimony was given under immunity. Which means what she said can't be used against her later that that doesn't bar prosecutors from arresting her in this case doesn't bar them from using any other statements? Did Charlie Adelson like Dan Marquel and again. I'm referring to the timeframe time frame before his death. I mean I think he was also he would listen to me when I would tell him about things. I was upset about at the time with the divorce. So so whether he liked him or didn't like him he certainly was supportive of me but he never expressed any dislike. No did he mentioned engine hiring a Hitman to kill your husband objection here now. Did he ever joke about. He looked into to hiring a hit man but I knew a TV as divorce president would be cheaper. He did make that joke. He tended to repeat himself and sometimes he would make jokes. Expat weren't very funny about all kinds of things after an hour of questioning from cattleman. Katie's defense attorney Tara. KAWASS began cross examination. Good afternoon. Good afternoon are you doing today. Okay I and my nervous. Yeah Yeah. Some Irvine's okay. Now you say it on direct examination that you are a lawyer. I am a lawyer right so you understand that the oath that you took it before you took the stand correct yes you know the consequences of not being truthful here of course and you also have separate obligation as an attorney to tell the truth right course I okay now. Do you know who killed downmarket. No did you have anything to do with killing DEMARCO. I don't believe we've so near the end of Wendy Adelson's hour and a half long testimony. Choas asked her about the terms of her immunity. So that means that anything you say. Today captain US against the State Decides to arrest you are on. The state isn't going to decide to arrest me. She kind of giggled laughed little bits. There were people out there who thought the GIGGLE was in in bad taste and semi incriminating soon. After Wendy step down from the stand she made a beeline to the exit. Caught a flight back to Miami less than two hours later later. Her testimony was the only time in Adelson would be physically present in the courtroom. But Wendy Adelson's marriage wasn't the only relationship on trial another couple's love affair would take center stage in the case and one of them was about to take the stand..

"Hi I'm hot girl. What do you want me to do? I want you to do a mission. But you'll never meet me and that's the kind of that's kind of hot about. It doesn't here an old man that I can't see I can never meet and that's kind of what gets me going same with all my friends and Bill Murray Tim what hi welcome to the Bechtel cast is with these so weird. Okay well into the bachelor. Cast of Miami Loftus. My name is Caitlin Caitlyn Toronto. This is a feminist movie podcast and as you can tell. We're going to discuss a very feminist movie today. Feminist Tech. I've I mean I've truly built myself from the building blocks of these various Bikini People Yeah I also learned who Sam Rockwell was from this movie. Oh sure what does this podcast we talk about. This is our first time recording in quite some time which is a big gap in like a month. Maybe even more I is it weird that I've been keeping count and like I haven't seen you for twenty nine days. Well all right live episodes. Oh my goodness okay yes anyway. So we're all out of sorts but we're back and better than ever and we talk about the representation of women in film and how it's usually you know. Not The best. And we use specially in the year. Two thousand I think this is maybe a low who indeed yeah And we use the back door. Test sometimes known as the Bechtel. Wallace test which requires that two female identifying characters with names must must speak to each other about something other than a man? Laurie hoops. It already failed By our standards it must just be a two line exchange right so were set. We're starting by setting the bar real low and seeing if If any movies can crest it and that the test cemented by cartoonist Alison Bechtel. Ensure is oh boy we're back. We're back twenty nine days. I feel like I haven't spoken so And we also have a guest with us as per usual. Yes Our guest today. She's a comedian a writer you've seen her on SNL and she's the Co Oh host of the podcast best friends with Pasquas to the show. Nicole buyer it's shears Mehta. Yes Hi Hello Charlie. Oh what a what do do you know who plays Charlie in the movies the actual Charlie from the TV show. Oh the back the back of the head guy at the end not despoil. None of that actor that we saw physically in the movies the same person but the voice is the the same as the guy who played this day the TV show. And I'm looking up his name yet as we speak. Yeah and he's not I build so let me you give me a second. Well that's part of why he has such an icon as he doesn't take up Spin John foresights is his name and this is not passing back to test so they're not all going to pass but So share thank you so much for being here Tell us about your history your relationship with this smoothie this maybe franchise as it were and and such that we're talking about the two thousand movie version your Amer Diaz Drew Barrymore. Lucy Liu yes Yes I watched. This movie came out. I'm pretty sure I saw full throttles well And I remember liking. It is fun to see women. I'm in do stuff that's like actiony. Yeah Arab thing that was fun and this is my first time seeing it probably since it came out. That's probably hardly the case for a lot of people. Yeah this isn't a movie that people seem to revisit a lot. We're we're we're discussing it. Because the reboot is about out to come out because legally you have to everything. So that's why we're I mean otherwise. I truly don't know if I ever would've would've seen or thought about this movie again and I'm sure that that's true for maybe everyone who is in the name of the. I got really stuck on this when I was like doing. The background research for this movie. The name of the director is just Mickey. Yes is that he. You didn't now that I'm not familiar with mccheese work. I guess I feel like he was a music video director. He was which makes sense. Okay that makes more sense. Yeah to me. It's just like how this is his first feature but he also he comes back for a full throttle he does family exact he was a success is the first time Nikki. And then the movie is of course written by three men including John August who I think people may be better off but it was. It was It was two thousand. I do remember noticing that Drew Barrymore produced this movie like when it came out. Yeah and early. She's one of the producers. Good for her. Because she's had a life you know like twelve year old addict to still alive even really like creating her own shit. I think that's really great and awesome. So and she made a ton of money off this franchise. Oh Yeah Yeah. And she's when this movie came out she's like still only twenty five which is crazy. Yeah Yeah I mean. She's lived several live Jamie. What's your history relationship with this? I don't pretty similar. I remember seeing this movie at like asleep over at some point thinking it was really funny onion cool and like I don't know I was probably like eleven so I was like. Oh I understand this sexy joke and like just everyone just faking their way through it. Yeah I mean I think I thought once maybe twice haven't seen it in at least fifteen years and also it was kind of fun on Swatch to like when I saw for the first time I didn't know who Sam Rockwell was. I didn't know who tim curry was like. All these actors that are in this movie that I just was like when I was ten I was leased. News awesome There's a ton of people and there's a ton of people made a ton of money and at the end of the day don't we just want a bunch of random people to have a lot of money. This movie also looks so expensive. Yeah there was just whole scenes that could be cut. That ours is so expensive. Spend right yeah. It's like really early odds decadence for no reason Yeah what's your history with it. I had never seen any of this. Charlie's angels content knife hadn't watched the show at all. Never watched these movies. not this one nor full-throttle I I have I've seen both of them now Except for the last twenty minutes of full throttle which. I didn't have time to finish before we start you on your toes. You don't get to the end. You're dying to turn out as soon as we hit. Stop on this record I will return to it. You have to run. Don't walk yeah I just. I don't know why I didn't ever see these but I think I was like maybe like you know two thousand i. I was a freshman in high school so I was like am too cool for girl movies. I'm a guys Gal. That whole thing was kind of person right and so but I gathered some information and I realized a lot of it now is Misinformation from these movies like I thought. Yeah I thought Bernie. Mac was Charlie but he's just Bosley but only in the second movie like I said I was all I'm all mixed up but now I've said everything anything straight late bill. Murray is in the second movie correct. There's apparently he had There was between him and Mckee and then also apparently between him. I hate that sentence. That's brutal over yet we're using blue. The other person he had yes. I also remember hearing that when I heard this was like. That's a weird thing but then didn't realized was watching the movie. Oh It's probably from Diz movie because I like win. Would they have talked to each other. I just didn't right. No Yeah but yeah I guess really. That sucks well because also I have never met. Actually I met. Let's see once very pleasant. Also we're at a show. So why would why would she but it was like what does she was really mean for. Yeah in my mind I'm like who would ever be mad at her Should I dive in to the recap. Yeah recap away all alright. So Charlie's angels two thousand directed by Mick G FEMINIST ICON. Tells the story okay. So there's an opening opening sequence so crazy that I think we just need to dedicate like a full hour to talk about that separately. Quick I I know. This is a feminist pockets. Uh I'm just going to be sprinkling in some big first. He directed the smashmouth all-star music video. Wow He's coming in an hot. Hey Hey now. And then he then. He directed documentaries for both corn and sugar ray because their stories must be told and then he got Charlie Harley saying how interesting yeah they're like this is the guy like voice clearly is mall teens. Love Him mm-hmm the opening sequence there on a plane and ll cool J.. Is there and we'll talk about the whole thing a little later on. But but we're introduced to the angels. This trio of crime-fighting private investigators. They are all women. Would the twins twist is. They're women this time and they all work for this guy named Charlie who they've never met they've only ever heard his voice right which is a carry over from the show is well I believe. Yeah the angels are Natalie. That's Cameron Diaz. She's really good at driving. And James also are jeopardy very unclear their characters perhaps clear not defined very. Well No. Oh they're they're they're they marry. Sue like scene by scene. They're like oh no she's also a scientist. I'm like Oh I saw her at a cop academy they're like whatever up Jesus scientists. Then we've got Alex Lucy Liu. She is a horseback rider but but then they also an astronaut or not neither of which come into play at any other point. She's dating Matla blank. who also plays an actor right and who has a very bad haircut wet all the time? Another wet haired was like the early two thousands. Yeah just like guys is it. Looks like they needed to be towels off and then Dylan Drew Barrymore's character. She's kind of like a bad ass rocker check and I guess also. She's the slutty one because she has sex with Chad Aka. Tom Green Aka her husband. Spend hard pill the swallow. Yes and then we also maybe. He's great I duNNo. Oh sure yeah. We don't know maybe he's then we also meet Bosley that's Bill Murray's character and he is the liaison between Charlie and the angels They get their next assignment. which is to find Eric? Knox a tech Bro. Who was kidnapped? And whose voice recognition software was stolen. His business partner Vivian would has hired the angels to find him and as they're looking at this surveillance footage of Knox's kidnapping they spot this like thin man in the reflection shen of a window that's his character's name man which is like another that's like another reference to this show. Yeah yeah or is it a show or movie. I'm like I'm pretending it seems so Charlie Angels TV series on I forget which network Some broadcast network in the seventies and early eighties. So yes I have not seen any but I think it lasted like four or five seasons. That was like we're Farah. Fawcett became famous right. That was Sure where to young diving mentioned stupid idiots on the watch a show from nineteen seventy six. I think that's right. I'm ready I think it was. Yeah it was like yeah faucets. "Angela tells police. There's something you need to know about charlie the reason i i don't seem to be as shocked as everyone else about what he did to his wife and niece. He's murdered before at first. This doesn't seem possible yeah again. They look at charlie's records. He was clean angela like how'd you have been confused. They didn't know what was going on but she persists. She said no. You won't have his records. They've been sealed because has when he killed. He was only thirteen when he murdered our mother. They lived in the town of fort wayne indiana with their dad and their mom who was eight months pregnant to everyone. The brands were normal family. Charlie was is a normal boy who did well in school and that's why no one could have expected what happened on january third nineteen seventy one. The brands had all been up that night watching t._v. Together before it was time to go to bed after their program angela had gone to her room to read the younger girls were like already asleep and mom and dad went to the bathroom to get ready for bed as well charlie's mom got into the bath while his dad stood over the bathroom sink out of the corner corner of his eye charlie's. Dad's spotted him coming into the bathroom. The next words out of his mouth were charlie. No charlie stop thirteen year old. Charlie held a gun and fired once into his dad's back then went to the bath tub stood over his pregnant mother and and fired five shots into her now. Angela is like hearing this from her room. She's hearing her dad yelling and before she could even make it out of her bedroom room. There was charlie standing in her doorway. He had something in his hand but in that moment angela couldn't even put together what he was holding or what was happening it all seemed so unreal and as she's explaining all of this to police nearly thirty three years later she explains that some of its fuzzy fuzzy some of it. She doesn't remember she's blocked from her memory but she remembers charlie pointing the gun right at her and then hearing a click as he pulled the trigger. The gun wouldn't fire and she doesn't know exactly how the next thing she remembers is her and charlie harley entangled in a physical altercation and she kicks the gun away their wrestling and she assumes that she got hit by a few good blows because later she'd she'd be bruised and bloody and as they're fighting. She kept saying to him charlie. I love you. What are you doing. I love you then. All of a sudden angie said that she was looking charley right in the eyes and he had this like glazed and crazed look that all of a sudden just disappeared disappeared like he snapped out of something and he asked her. What did i do and andrews is. I don't know like i think you shot our parents. It's but i need to go check like get off me coffee. Both children at this point are freaking out charlie because of what he had just done angie because she is terrified to her core of her own brother. He kept asking what they were going to do. An angie kept saying she didn't know but she knew she had to be calm. She couldn't risk kim being afraid of her so she starts thinking on her feet and making charlie think she's like on his side and she's going to take care of them and their sisters and she starts to head head down the stairs and she's telling charlie that they should leave but they have to take their sisters with them so she tells him you go upstairs. Get me some blankets for the girls like it's winter inter out. They need to be bundled up so he starts walking back up the stairs but he's walking backwards and the whole time he's asking angie. You're not gonna leave me. Are you promised me you won't leave me. And of course she says no all the while knowing as soon as he's far enough away she was going to make a run for it as charlie got higher and higher on the staircase still looking at her. She bolted for the front door and she runs out running through the snow in her bloodied nightgown barefoot screaming for anyone to save her from her brother. She ran to one of the the neighbors houses and pounded on the door but before anyone could even come. She saw her brother closing in behind her. She could hear him yelling angie. You promise you you promise you and leave me. Those would be words that she would here in the back of her mind for the rest of her life. Angie ended up running to another another neighbors but charlie went right up to the first door that angela was at he knocked again softer than his sister hat and a young girl opened the door. Charlie charlie stood there in the cold and just calmly said i shot my parents. Police and paramedics were called to the scene and life saving measures were performed formed. Charlie's dad actually ended up surviving the incident but his mother and her unborn child didn't even have a fighting chance both she and her unborn baby died in the tub that january night and no one could figure out why so fast forward to two thousand and four suddenly suddenly police had kind of emotive not a great one but this story that angela told them at least provided that there was like some <hes> kind of darkness that existed within charlie something that had been there all along but maybe now just resurfaced the common thread. Here is women women right. Maybe <hes> i mean dad only got one shot. Mom got a whole gun unloaded on her practically and then what he did to michelle cutting off her breasts there's underwear everywhere yet and so people have theorized us before that he had some kind of hatred for women but here's the crazy part like i agree with everything when you said this it's this all seems like he is targeting women's specifically as far as i know they've never connected him to a male victim but the weird part for me is everyone who knew charlie said that not only did. He and his mom have a good relationship but he was what everyone called a momma's boy which makes this so much more shocking. I think like i personally know a momma's boy. We have a momma's boy who edits this podcast headcount and don't you dare take that data and i i do. I think it would make it all the more shocking to find out that someone who was so close to their mother mother and who would be described as a momma's boy would do something like this right like i think everyone would have expected you know kind of a bad kid or maybe an antisocial okay kid who gets into a lot of trouble. Maybe is involved in drugs but not a momma's boy now like you said like not someone who's good in school who gets along well with people and i think you want to believe you can see something like this coming but it sounds like you couldn't right and that's what made this so terrifying to a small indiana community back in one thousand nine hundred seventy one. I'm sure parents started locking their own bedroom doors at night or even looking at their kids a little differently like what are they capable edible of and how do you try and help them when there are apparently no warning signs yeah. I guess that's what i'm struggling to believe. There had to be something something right. I think everyone wanted to believe that because to believe that some people are born bad apples is terrifying. Charlie underwent went three separate psychological evaluations each time the professional was looking for some underlying signs of like of specific mental illness that could explain away his behavior or at least explain what contributed to it but each of them reported that charlie seems like a normal boy who just snapped opt for no apparent reason now according to some online sources he was too young to be charged with murder under indiana law. We we have a law like that. I i don't know what the laws were seventy one. I know that now laws are not structured that way at all and i couldn't find somebody who specialized in old indiana hannah laws but i have to assume there was some issue with charging him because he never went to prison instead. He was sent to a psychiatric hospital hospital after a year in the hospital. It's my understanding that his dad actually fought to get him released and i'm not sure why like as a parent feel free to weigh in here because in my mind i'm like you stay there as long as you need like. I'm going to wait for the professional tommy when you can come home without trying to shoot me again again yeah. That seems a lot safer. Honestly i don't know if i would miss my kid enough to be like yeah you can just come home and and feeding dress like it would be scary but like i have to assume there is like this bonds like you want to protect your child. I get that and you feel like you're getting them the help they need read exactly like to me. I would want to get to the root of why this happened otherwise. I'd be so afraid of something like this happening again but it clearly there was a reason his dad wasn't worried. Maybe was just his parental instinct. Maybe there is more to this story that the public will never be privy to who knows when he is released. Charlie's dad moves the entire family to florida now. There isn't a lot known about charlie's life as a child in florida but here's what i can piece together i think he had some grandparents lived down there so his dad probably moved to get some help. I mean after all. He's a low now with four kids but also so i can imagine you'd like you'd wanna start over in a new city fort. Wayne isn't a super small town as far as indiana goes for everyone knew the story of what happened in seventy one so if if charlie did have any real chance of growing up normal it would be hard to do there so they moved to florida and within a year his dad remarries and here's what i don't get his dad moves the family back to indiana but leaves charlie behind with his grandparents and i for the life of me can't figure out why i can guess until i'm blue in the face and i think they have some pretty good guesses but no one has ever reported why he stayed and many stories on the case just kind of like gloss over it but to me this is a huge deal and maybe one of the biggest keys in the case like was there something still there that that anyone could have seen right and i know we aren't going to go down this rabbit hole. The listeners can speculate for themselves but i do not bring up one thought couldn't did it have been that his siblings didn't feel safe around him like i get as a parent you still feel the need to protect them and all that but i would imagine his sister's would still be super confused and scared especially angela. Yeah we'll also. Here's the thing <hes> angela obviously knew because she was fifteen when it happened. Charlie like actually tried to kill her but the other two younger sisters who were like. I said like three and two when their mother was killed. No one ever told them what really <music> happened. They were told that their mother died in a car accident or something like that and they lived their entire lives until two thousand and four having no idea what their brother had done or the truth about their mother's death oh my god but they weren't the only ones almost no one spoke of the incident after it happened happened was like this dark stain on the family's past and they wanted to just move on they wanted charlie to live a normal life and it really seems like that's what was happening. Charlie for a long time was proved to everyone that children shouldn't be punished like adults because they aren't fully developed and there really is so much room for change but in two thousand and four when charlie committed that horrible act against his niece and his wife everyone questioned if the opposite was true like he had clearly never changed and he was still just as evil it seemed as he was back then but while the public went back and forth trying to decide if like once evil is always he's evil and if you suppress it long enough will whatever it is eventually explode out of you. Police had a different question. They didn't think charlie early had been suppressing his evil for thirty three years..

"It short store and i feel like i've got a lot to cram in this life for living my soul's purpose of really living human experience so i gotta get on. It can't delay it anymore. You know how lacey talks about lacey phillips. She talks about specific manufacturers and nonspecific pacific manifestos while i feel through my experience is that there are sharer manifestos and non on chairman investors so those who are more than welcome to share and those who should not share they need to keep it sacred for whatever reason between the guidance team as yes we all are one and we're all in this together but individually we do have individual soul missions and so for whatever reason maybe because this is what i saw and might sound crazy which is fine. I mean what this the which podcasts of mine hasn't been thankful. I am not a normal person and but this is how see it so there are people like charlie harley who are specific manifestos and they're. He's also a sharer so when he shares something it manifesto s. me. I noticed that everytime i share something even when it's with just one or two people it either either doesn't happen or just hasn't happened yet or did happen but it took a long time and so i've learned that when i get excited about something and on be like oh i'm doing this guy's other things begin to interfere with it really fast energetically medically seven energetic signature that when i say it out loud a lot of things will come in the way to interfere it so it doesn't happen. I don't know who's who's bucking it. What's blocking it but i've noticed that every time i do share it that it takes a long time and the bummer is is. Is that pretty much everything. I wanna manifest i've shared but i think that there are a couple of things i'm going to actually test it more to see like maybe with smaller things. If i just don't share it keep it only to myself and my guidance team then see what happens so right now. I'm not sharing anything because what really resonates it is for me to keep it sacred within for this individuals human experience. I love that you guys asked about it. Just i could share that so <hes> my name is renuka at have an from orlando florida <hes> and my instagram handle is renuka r. e. n. k. a. with another a eight seven. It has just really expanded what i can possibly do and the block that i was going through initially back in orlando and like for the past couple of years has really kinda just broken down through this experience through the exercises that we've been doing and the journaling melling and and the experiences that we've shared with the with our housemates here and not only that but raquel and bree they are the most most comforting souls that i've met it just felt at ease to talk with both of them and really really just have heart to heart conversations where you feel like you can get your questions answered and it's like you're talking to like. I i would want to say like it's like one of your closest friends like it's easy and it's natural and that's how it should be and i felt i felt all i felt was love of here. I felt like i felt at peace at ease and these women are wonderful and it's just great to have a wonderful tribe that you're just hanging out with and do an exercise with going out on excursions with and and you're waking up in paradise every single morning and it's all just been super super beautiful hernia rasi parni asks how do you stay grounded and practice mindfulness during the most busy and challenging changing times of your life when it's easiest to let go of mindfulness..

"That's funny yeah. No I totally agree. I'm I'm ready for most of the plotlines this season to be wrapped up and to move on. I will say that <hes> the next episode actually looks like we get some excitement so I'm hopeful for the future. I mean not our future. We're going to all die in a nuclear meltdown by twenty fifty by twenty fifty. I'll be seventy in fine in fifteen years in retirement all right so we're kinda rotting bovery now since I've ranted and raved about Chernobyl and my credentials as a nuclear physicist so if you had to pick one plotline that you wanted to see continue into the second half of the season what would you say okay and I'm a total hypocrite. Just saying that all tell you commander plot wine no the kids Langley after Anne's after finding out what happened to all of the people that were because that was one of the things I was like. How did these people get nailed in there and they were still still there but they were all zombies? Why does somebody round up a bunch of zombies and put them in cat like I was totally confused? Now like <hes> a little more sense that makes so much more sense. I need so tragic like her whole lake we we stayed there. You know normally the parents came back after a night or two and we stayed up all night crying and I was like Oh my God that's awful. Tell me more law right so but I have a question for are you and this is part of my rotting pary. I don't get why any is so freaked out about trusting our group of survivors. I don't either so it's it's not as if our groups of survivors has done anything anything to like hurt them. Overtly I mean the other was the whole propeller but it's just because our group of adults are bumbling but whatever <hes> yeah I totally disagree or era. I totally agree other than she's super freaked out about grace so there is something about the people with the nuclear plant or maybe it's C._R._M.. or She's conflating the two or maybe they they are conflicted. I don't know but just because she blames grace for what happened to her parents. Yeah that you know I just don't think her motivations Zor clearer no I don't either and I mean the reasoning of a child you know so okay. That's fair yeah. I think that she's just it's kind of like with Alicia said she's like like no. I get it I every day I think about the last thing my mother sent to me and the last thing that Annie's mother said to her was take care of your brothers and so Annie is hyper focused on taking in care of her brothers and you know that excludes adults. She has to take care of her the the her brothers. You know it's it's like a smokey. The bear says only you can prevent forest fires fires. You know like I take very seriously like only I it's. It's up to me. You know okay so I have to admit that are survivors have not proven themselves particularly credible so far yeah what what is it about any that makes her more capable than a group of adults right survive the Samba apocalypse. I'm looking at like you know. These people are no neagh in or saviors. You know they mean no harm they may not you know due very well but they want to help. They're trying to help they. They won't stop trying to help no matter how much I gripe. They won't stop trying to help you even if you don't want the help right and so I I honestly think it's because Anne is just hyper focused on taking care of her brothers and this is the only way she knows how that's my only explanation. Maybe we would get more of an explanation if the storyline storyline continues all right. I'm going to take us back to the plane. Repairs Real quick okay. I'm pretty sure that parts are not interchangeable between different brands makes models of airplanes either. I'm kind of struggling with that yeah because so I own a Toyota Corolla and Toyota Tacoma I think about a hundred into the smaller IOS Tacoma yeah and even those take different batteries you know even the headlights are different like I'm just it's the same manufacturer sure yeah. It's two different vehicles but they still take different parts. I don't think you know the these are switchable. Yeah Yeah they definitely don't look the same kinds of planes no not at all so the one that they took the propellers off of look like what we would call a puddle jumper here and the other one looked like a cargo plane exactly exactly I mean I'm no aeronautics specialist by A._M.. I am a nuclear physicist. Yeah just gotTa go with my gut on that one. Look I'm not an aeronautical engineer but I did watch an episode of fear the walking dead right all right. We'll say something positive so there were there were three really great lines in this episode when Sarah is like under the propeller color and she says I hope yet and heard heard other line yup and then her I work better with a five out of ten buzz. Oh all three of them came from her then no so the other one I was thinking of was when Alicia looked at Morgan after puts the Walker Down with the new stick and she's she says oh you fix them up. So what was the other one from Sarah quick quick digging around the daisies. Oh that's like stirring up some beef man yeah yes so I have to say of all of the pep talks because again there were a lot of pep talks and I'm just going to list a few off Alicia and Annie Morgan Grace John and White Luciana and Dylan. Oh can we list them all off Jay June Owl Strand and Sarah Charlie in Strand and like the Strand and Sarah won the best because Sarah was just basically get over yourself Victor Morgan and everybody more than everybody yeah when they were bringing in the plane that was I mean that even basically went to a voice over where he was given us a pep talk aw yeah it's like it's getting comical at this point to like if if I were even more of an alcoholic like I would have started to drinking game by now you know I'm not sure how I thought I liked this episode so much better because I'm finding that I'm having really good time harsh on and see. I'm liking it more because my funny oh no so cool little to bid to figure out what was going on in the opening credits. It was all zombies in the exclusion zone right it was all of the zombies tied up in the gut fence that Lee encounters okay. I think that's what the Bowel Blockade Right. That's good that was John Dory's reference not mine. He called it a couple of episodes ago and I read this somewhere. This is not an original thought it was either on like two FAB Denki one of the Forbes reviews I can't remember but they pointed out that this season started off with so so much promise because it had so much menace you know there were we were building up to a big bad. There was the heads from trees in the gut the bowel barricades or whatever bow blockades and it just it had so much promise and now it's like boiled down to just this mild threat you know and now of course we have the nuclear meltdown but that's not like you know a governor. Oren Megan or a dirty woman filthy women or whatever it's just yeah I feel like we've we've dropped the whole menace you know and I <music> heard again another podcast the CO host talking about I don't really know that I can spend the entire back half of the season watching them. Suddenly try to win the denim mill back from map Moore's character <hes> aw see that's what I'm hoping for so really yeah I would love and epic mad. Max Headroom Style Levi's factory well. You may get working for yeah so the only thing I can think of the and this is this is totally long shot. Spit balling is okay. We can't keep the kids. I'm sorry they're like foster. Dogs bugs you just have because you can't help more in the long run. Exactly somebody else might actually want our help so he keep the kids. Kids are gone if we're I'M NOT GONNA kill the kids. Maybe we can leave the kids with the guy at the Denim factory and we move on someplace else. Because of course we can't stay at the Denim factory because no one can stay anywhere for longer than a season because then it gets boring or we have to have invaders like the Savior's so I maybe maybe they leave the kids in the safety of the Denim factory right. Maybe I don't know I think the kids have to die because I don't think that our our group of adults would leave the kids to fend for themselves though I just had a thought. This is the way that the show owners are going to get rid of Luciana Ana. She is GonNa stay behind with the kids. Oh maybe but Dylan's totally going to die which will make her commit that much harder to the remaining children exactly exactly as she totally has nerve damage in that arm. She's going to have to settle down somewhere. Oh my God but yeah I definitely I totally agree with with we're GONNA I mean that's actually one of the bad things about season. Five a is there has been no major character death like you said grace looks still looks pretty healthy for someone who's on death's door and A. and Luciana survived her mortal wound and you know always threatened with being shot in the head and so we've had a lot of close calls but nobody's died. Someone's GonNa have to die next season next season five. They've got two episodes left to kill somebody off and I think it's going to be Dylan. Oh well we are but it's the walking dead. Children Children do not fair wellness Zombie apocalypse so I have a question. I want to ask you about the balloon okay. Why on Earth would they be hauling around a hot air balloon but he mean well so Wendell era I the stuff from Jimbo's brewery and they've been hauling around this hot hot air balloon I J- Until you said that I did not get that I was like okay? I thought the roads are out. How did they go all the way back to Jimbo's brewery and in that amount of time I was like I was willing to suspend my disbelief on on the travel time but not the fact that we're hot air balloon experts I? I didn't even realize they were hauling it around. I thought they went back for it but you're right. They have been hauling around unbeknownst to them. A hot air balloon were apparently known to them because when Charlie said something about you got everything Sarah's eyes lit up and she knew exactly what Charlie was talking about well she charlie held up the magazine cover with the balloon in the background right but general a new they have yeah yeah okay <hes> I don't know lake I guess maybe the hot air balloon material might come in handy for something someday somewhere where for someone is it like parachute material as it like soak yeah I believe so I kind of saw so yeah at or maybe they just trucked off everything that they could not. I'm knowing exactly what it was but like it. A light bulb went off as soon as it was in her face. I don't know yeah I dunno just seems weird that they would be hauling a hot air balloon around yeah actually weirder than being able to go back to to all right. I've got one more gripe about the nuclear plotline so when Morgan was talking to Strand and Charlie Harley on the walkie he said don't kill any walkers you get there blown you could die but it doesn't tell them why and he doesn't tell them what's really going on. I'm like Morgan. Could you be a little more vague. Please this so having communicated with them a lot on the radio. Did they give them the story about the the irradiated zombies or the the like I. I can't imagine that that wouldn't come up in conversation over the radio if they knew it. I missed it yeah but that wouldn't surprise me that I missed it well. It could be just something that we have to assume soon that they told them about you know. They're these guys with the helicopter and then there's this lady that's track down all the rate of radioactive zombies and we've got zombies tied together at roadblocks and it's Cray cray here you know stay on the other side. Yeah we're trying and get back to you. Don't come here yeah so yeah. I don't know okay if something good. Did you catch the Darrell reference. Yes that was pretty cool. Yeah Yeah Nice callback for Dwight Yup Yup alright for feeling like this was really well balanced episode with good pacing. I've had a lot of gripe but it's fun griping though like I I actually enjoyed this more than I did the episode yeah I have to say that's true for me too so I'm GonNa give us four point. Five seven Jerky man's rookies out of five and I'm going to give us a four point four point seven five giant coasters hillside. Oh so next episode episode seven. What have we got in the works?.
