EVs & Infrastructure - Katie Sloan, Southern California Edison
"Drivers do percents of their charging. That's eight zero percent of their charging at home. There are over twenty two thousand charging stations on over sixty six thousand chargers across the united states and counting with more being installed every day. The new electric vehicles have a healthy amount of battery range. Some as much as three hundred fifty miles as i recall and the cars. Frankly are very very cool. I was at the dc. Auto show recently took a ride with a race car driver in an electric volvo sports car. That was way cool. There are electric and hybrid. Suv sedans sports cars et cetera. So what is holding it up. I'd like you to meet a woman who we hope can answer some of these questions kate. Sloan is the director of mobility at southern california edison. I met katie a few months ago at an electric drive transportation association forum. And i knew i had to have you meet her. Katie has been at southern california edison for about seventeen years if i read that right in her linked in profile and his knee deep electric vehicles. She earned her degrees in economics. Which is an interesting angle to approach this from both at her graduate undergraduate and master's degrees from new mexico state university welcome to green connections radio. Katie and thank you so much for joining us. Thank you john. I'm excited to be here. Oh you're welcome you're welcome so you focus on removing the barriers to electric vehicle adoption which assumes there's a big market for these vehicles but since most of us are not even be owners. What's your pitch to own one. That's a great question to start with. And i would say that. Electric vehicles are funded. Drive that is the number one reason that people should be thinking about purchasing them love to share a little story about my own personal experience and that is that my husband has always driven really large. Suv's and trucks his whole life and when we went car shopping a few years ago and we started looking at electric vehicles. I have to say that he was like probably the majority of folks saying that he was not very excited about purchasing an electric vehicle so much so that when we went to test drive one of the cars he refused to sit in the front seat and actually sat in the back with his arms folded
The Promise That Led Brandon Staley Into Coaching
"Daniel during his introductory press conference spec in january. We really got a sense. For what a true football nut brandon staley is. This is all i've ever wanted to do since i was a little kid. I started drinking coffee in the first grade and reading the sports vase. Because i wanted to be here doing this job. i do. You think he was being serious about that coffee in the first grade thing. Oh absolutely jason actually specifically mentioned that in my interview saying that he was doing that in the first grade coffee reading the sports section with his dad but he said it actually wasn't because he was a sports not it's because he wanted to be his father and admired him so deeply that he wanted to sit in the chair and drink coffee and read the sports page. Exactly like his dad did which i think. A lot of sons can relate to trying to mimic your father. But i thought that was sort of an interesting twist on it because when you first heard brandon say it it was oh he was obsessed with sports because i was reading the sports section in the first grade but it really was because he admired his father. Well daniel you. Recently wrote about brandon staley's path to becoming the chargers coach and stem from the loss of his mother and from his relationship with his twin brother. Jason i can just tell us a little about the relationship between brandon and jason. Yeah best friends is how i would describe it. And pretty much inseparable from birth to really good athletes in high school. And i think the way jason described it was from the outside looking in people. Thought there might be some animosity. Just because brandon was always the better athlete brandon. Was the point guard on the basketball team. Brandon was the star quarterback and jason sorta played second fiddle. But the way jason described. It was never liked that our relationship people really it was kind of it was like competitive between twins and yeah certainly working at it but always telling me and him against everybody

The post who. I don't know if powerful computer the complete of video games honor or like a consul. It's it seems to me like it's smartphones. Time to rise and while zombie is keeping up the pace with black shark series. The latest iteration the black sharp for an for pro have popped up in a chinese you can pre-order one. Today with the phones set release to china on thursday. The twenty fifth and international release date has not been set yet. But what what are you looking at stat. Wise here while the black shark. Four pro uses a snapdragon eight processor. Qualcomm's biggest and bad available. It's paired to either eight gigs or twelve. Gigs of ultraviolet fast. Lpddr five ram with two hundred fifty six gigs of storage both models. But those aren't exactly hard to find these days. The more obvious give way that this is giving phone are the dedicated mechanical shoulder buttons on the side flight. The locks away to them pop up like two shoulder buttons on a black shark three they can be bound to touch areas on screen for integration with really more or less any game but if you want the mechanical shoulder buttons you now have that option. The four pro is six point. Six seven inch a. m. o. l. e. the ten eighty p screen with a maximum refresh rate of one. Hundred forty four hertz. Beating most phones it also has to zones of pressure sensitivity as a nema pressure applied. Not just touch sensitive allowing for further integration into games that can support it. It's battery as a forty five hundred m h typical for phone this size but supports fast charging at a completely bonkers. Honored twani watts with a charger included in the box. Family says it can charge ninety percent of the battery in a little more than half an hour. It looks like the video that goes along with two well in terms of cameras on the pro. They have a sixty four megapixel main shooter. Eight megapixel ultra wide five megapixel macro with a twenty megapixel centered. Front camera terms of style to flat. Black version actually looks fairly down. Nice to notice the side buttons. Led triangle logo on the back stays on lit. You'd have a hard time telling its gaming phone. Of course that goes out the window to get the so empty version of its auto translated by the way unsure of the official name. It's layered semi transparent glass shifts around as you look at it and much more flashy but not unappealing way. The phones a chunky and nine point nine meters. But that's enough to include a headphone jack in sight mounted fingerprint reader. The dual sim. Radio works with five g for absolutely intense sessions. You can't quick bond the sold separately cooling module at cedar black shark four pro a starts at four thousand. I'm trying to remember the exact It can't be the chinese currency that they have. But if you're talking about us dollars be black shark for pro is at six hundred fifteen dollars and six hundred ninety dollars respectively as the non. It's it's kind of slightly scaled down version Looks pretty interesting In terms of the i it drops one of the cameras. It keeps the shoulder buttons most of the rest of the hardware and it's slightly cheaper. Probably not a five hundred dollar range for a gaming smartphone. That's unheard of clean. We're sitting here looking at foods. The latest and greatest thousand plus in in north china pop out gaming smartphones that are packed full of hardware intact for like seven hundred between five and seven hundred eighty s manageable. It off but yeah. If you're looking for gaming phone well you might just have to wait for this to be released internationally. But if you're in china Details in terms of prices and such and selections and preorders are available in a show notes for today's episode. So looks pretty cool all right. Moving on to an article begat from techcrunch facebook's clubhouse rival looks a lot like clubhouse right now in and because facebook is a clubhouse rival reported on net like all the way back in february in new york times. Didn't a bunch of other people did but what that product look like or how it will work have been questioned that have remained unanswered however new screenshots of a facebook audio product still under development shows what appears to be a live audio broadcasts experience. It's more of an extension of facebook's existing messenger rooms rather than a standalone app experience. Facebook confirmed with techcrunch. The images are indeed examples of the companies exploratory efforts because they don't represent alive product at this time but the gamut we all know the company said also that detailing what product look like based on these images would be inaccurate ob tech crush said screw. Were pushing him anyway. But keep in mind. It is in development features. That are very different in anything and everything could still change drastically between now and then but images at least help. Face their demonstrate. How facebook is thinking about live audio. Where such a social experience. Good fit within facebook's existing and that's worth considering considering that i don't think facebook wants to make another app i think they just want everybody to be on one app and use that so we do have some pictures that go along with it. Looks like they have like button. It says choose the room type where it's like live audio broadcasts in audio only room to listeners audio where you can start a private audio room with friends. A video button reconstructive private video room with friends in an you can also add people in but it looks very much like Like clubhouse that. I'm still trying to get used to somebody interfaces of the room so it's it's kind of interesting Speak are shown to tap the room. Top 10 players signed by Patriots
"Talk about the Patriots. The the Patriots grabbed everybody's attention by making move after move after move after move. Like we're watching it over agency going off. How many people are going to bring in its kind of unbelievable how many starters they've added? And so I count they added ten players that I think are very very significant to their team next year. In fact, I would say pretty clearly the Patriots are back and a lot of people saw this coming, you know, but they are going to be a force in the NFL next year here is my list my nerdy list of the ten players the top players. They added that are very significant to their roster next year. The first two are massive. It will reshape the entire Patriots offense. They added two tight ends Johnny Smith and Ed Hunter Henry. To Johnny Smith signed from Tennessee. He signed a four year deal worth up to fifty million dollars. That's Thirty one point two five million dollars guaranteed and he's only twenty-four years old. So that's Monday. That's a really gigantic Marquis franchise player. He cited the reason why it came to New England is cuz he loves Bill Belichick. He's got great respect for him. And I want to point out of all the everybody I'm about to talk about these shows to be in New England Bill Belichick got his kind of guys who sought out New England wanted to be there and wanted to work hard and win a Superbowl. I think it matters. It's very very exciting. These are not with Josh Gordon's or what's the other example Phillip Dorsett who they made a move for and they're not really like that. You think they fit they don't work out know. These are guys who all chose to be in New England who wanted to win a Superbowl. I really want to win a Superbowl. These guys went out of their way to be New England now the other tight and they brought in With twenty-six-year-old tight end Hunter Henry from the LA Chargers got a three-year deal twenty-five million dollars guaranteed. It's worth up to thirty seven point five million dollars total if he meets all those incentives. They also added two wide receivers the Patriots brought in Nelson agholor to a you got a two year twenty six million dollar contract East twelve years old. Now a lot of people do not like this move and I I get it Nelson agholor is not the most flashy player in the NFL but I think if it's very well with Cam Newton, he's good at he's not going up and getting the ball. He's got good hands did some stuff of the Raiders that I think deserves your attention go watch what he did with the Raiders and I just I'm like, huh a lot of good plays. Okay. I understand. I see the potential Bill Belichick and the Patriots would see and Nelson agholor go will give the guy a good contract, especially considering the Patriots have like our desolate at wide receiver. They need help. They got home. Who is awesome but he can't do everything by himself from the slot. They have n'keal Harry who n'keal Harry. I I think he's going to pop. I think he's going to progress and keep getting better. But she's not a number one right now. So on top of the page where it's also added Kendrick Bourne guy from my local area actually went to Eastern Washington University 25 years old. He's coming from the San Francisco 49ers. He got a three year deal worth twenty two point five million dollars. Now another thing the Patriots did they also added they signed Center Ted carriages and they traded for tackle Trent Brown. So this is the new Patriots offense right now. They've receivers Nelson agholor, Julian Edelman Kendrick born and kill hair is its own nuclear Aguilera. I'm doing my best. It's a hard game to say. They also have Sony Michelle running backs for any receivers Sony Michelle at running back and improved offensive line. Cam Newton at quarterback who I get why people doubt Cam? He's a former NFL MVP and with when you put cams Talent with a lot of weapons including two outstanding tight ends Hunter Henry Smith, right man. I'll tell you what I look at the Patriots offense and think two things immediately number one. Everything is going to run through their brand new Titans. Their entire offense now is probably going to drive down the seams of the field right up the middle. They're going to use our tents heavily lot of play-action again. I am scheme wise things will look a lot like the page words did back in the day when they had drunk and Aaron Hernandez together to start tight ends. Now number two. I feel very very confident with Cam Newton as the Patriots quarterback and it surprised me but I want to remind you that two years ago. Tom Brady was the page word starting quarterback and did basically nothing and the reason was there were no weapons there. He kept running into the same brick wall. His receivers weren't good enough. So, how can I think you and I would both agree. I like Cam Newton Tom Brady's a better quarterback than Cam Newton. So my point is if Tom Brady couldn't make it work with New England's roster. How was Cam Newton supposed to succeed? He was set up to fail will now Cam Newton's being given weapons is being set up to do. Well, I'm excited man. He's a former NFL MVP, he's hungry. I I personally believe Cam Newton's going to have an awesome year and it really is going to make extended one-year deal with like it was like three and a half million dollars with a bunch of incentives. I honestly think we're gonna look back at his contract at the end of next year and go. Can you believe the deal they got on Camden he played so well for no money. I really think he's he's a guy who can didn't play well enough wage. Last year to earn a new gigantic contract. So he's going to have to show what he can do this year and maybe earn more money next year but I think cam is poised to do very very well and make a lot of money and win a lot of games in New England

Drew Brees Retires After 20 NFL Seasons and Leaves a Legacy
"The end of an era in New Orleans as if this shocks us Drew Brees announced his retirement After Twenty seasons in the NFL the past 15 with the Saints and the first five would Sandy a.m. When they were the Chargers kids back when they were the Chargers, you know, his kids made the actual official statement on his Instagram. He posted a video of the four of them announcing that he was retiring to spend more time with them which was kind of cute and relatable. But is this Chaka say me. I mean, I think we all saw it coming. Yeah. No, it doesn't shock me. I'm it makes me sad though, cuz I think that he could have kept going but again like this season, he was playing with like Seventeen broken ribs and a collapsed lung. I mean it was insane.
Top 15 ideas for an equitable economy
"I'm pleased today to be joined by dr phil jackson of new profits. She's one of the managing partners. Enchila- thank you so much for being with us ramona. Thank you for having us especially on this exciting day where we're finally announcing the fifteen solutions for the grand challenge. I am so glad we could talk about this today. Because we've been we've talked about this in the past as you were taking in the applications for this so for those in the audience who don't know what the grand challenges when you tell us. Kind of broadly. What it is and then we can talk about. Who's some of the people have been selected to the future burton grand challenges partnered by new profit in partnership with x prize foundation. Mit solve and j f f. And what we're doing is we're giving finalist access to six million dollars. In funding to implement solutions that will rapidly reskill twenty five thousand workers into higher wage jobs and it quip influential workforce boards with vetted tools to help get americans back to work in why this is so important as that many times philanthropy. We actually give grants based on ideas. These grants are going to be given based on outcomes so it's really going to be down to how many people were trained and how many people were placed in jobs with living wages. What were you looking for as you're looking for the organizations the groups to go forward in this competition so yet so even before cova working on this initiative for two years and really what we senator around were were adults busy people who are in need of upskilling but who can't take the opportunity cost to take off a year or go back to get a four year degree so we know going into this that we were looking for accelerated learning programs and also programs that would allow a learner or a worker to earn while they learn. We know that you know people. We think. A lot about the fifty six million. Us residents who are are working minimum. Wage jobs you know less than living wage jobs that they need opportunities to to skill up in a fashion that works for their complex and busy lives and so we really wanted these entrepreneurs to be willing to center the experience of these learners right and to create solutions that will work alongside their busy lives. We talk a lot about trying to upskill four jobs now. Actually and jobs of the future are each of the program. Said are in your rapid reskilling. Are they ernest. You learn absolutely in the way that we're thinking about it. There's two things one is like you said ramona. The future of work has become the president of work right so a lot of things that we thought were going to happen. Happened in cove. It industries went away that we thought were recession proof. And so what we've tried to do with all of these trainings. Is that one is their offered free of charge to the job seekers. And we're asking about preneurs a train for jobs that will not be impacted in the future works of thinking in the next three to five years and where people can leave the short term training and actually get a job with a living wage in so those are the parameters that we looked at. And we want to make sure that these trainings were geared towards people. Don't have a bachelor's degree and have other barriers employment. There are fifteen different organizations. That will be part of the solution. They're a combination of rapid reskilling. An mit sauce. And so we're looking at the fifteen solutions of the cohort that. We're validating at workforce boards. They just came to us from different challenges. There's a couple that. I'm just really excited about the first. Is this company. That's called charger help. And what's so interesting about that. One is that they are training people to be technicians into service electric car charging stations. What's interesting to me about. The idea is one is who knew that that was a job. You know. I didn't in to who knew that you could do that type of job and not have a bachelors degree so in a sixteen week program. They're able to train someone to do this job and they can go and make upwards of hundred and fifty dollars an hour but the company itself charged for help actually pays their employees up to fifty dollars an hour but they're giving them this training. That has a great market potential. And so that's one example. Another example that we're really excited about is generations. Usa there are national nonprofit ner actually international in many ways but they're allowing people to on the job while they're like learning a new trade and they do everything from building trades to manufacturing to data to technology while they're getting the technical training they're also giving them the wraparound supports of that professional training. And what some might call soft skills but are you know really important professional skills if we're going to actually obtain a job. They're getting paid while they do it. They're tuning to like the wraparound supports. A worker might need so in terms of transportation and childcare and they are promised a job on the other end of it and so as a learner. When you're thinking about that opportunity cost of taking you know sixteen weeks or three months off to learn. You're getting some upside in the beginning. And also you've got this guarantee on the back end.

The Insta360 Go 2
"Three sixty they make cameras in other stuff But the go-to is kind of their go to action cameras to two hundred and ninety nine dollars action camera with surprisingly powerful case And yes it it to explain it simply it looks like an oversized tic tac. Eyeball this article conceals from the verge at twenty six point. Five grams in side of your thumb into three sixties. Latest action camera to go to looks like an over sized tic tac eyeball. It's the second generation in the goal. Line up which is into three sixties only nine three sixty degree camera line where the first generation go left a lot to be desired particularly in the image quality department. The two hundred ninety nine dollars go to comes with a new charging case larger sensor and improved image quality making a strong case for a mobile first action camera. It looks looks pretty pretty interesting here. the most notable changes to this tiny camera come in harbor department ago tooth housing component as a new movable lens cover and less slippery tape plastic housing the case as a more active role in the us with a camera becoming a tripod remote external battery in charger all in one. It is slightly larger than the airpods pro case. It has one fourth inch thread for supporting mounting and a usb port for charging the loan camera can run for thirty minutes on a single charge or one hundred fifty minutes while in the case while the case is not waterproof the go to's camera is ipx eight water resistant for us up to thirteen feet underwater in a box. It also includes three camera mounts being a pivot. Stand a hat brim clip independent for wearing around your neck. All these lots utilize a magnet to keep the go-to attached to them a use. The case is more than just a place to store. The cameras pretty interesting invasion into all of the mounts remotes in other accessories. You have to end up buying the action camera. Really add up. So it's great to see a central features such as a tripod being built in to the cameras hardware. Has you can see here. It actually has little tripod. Standing can sit on as well more important than hardware though is image quality which i know you're wondering about with many smartphone. Cameras producing sharp stabilize. Four k sixty fps video in punchy crisp photos. It's absolutely necessary for dedicated cameras outside of our phones to up the game. Pov ultrawide look of the go-to video unique mounting abilities to create different video enough. That i could see myself carrying the go-to around. In addition to iphone according to the author i simply cannot produce a point of view angle like that to go to on my smartphone camera on the phone. The cameras nine. Megapixel photos are crisp full of contrast in highly saturated without looking unrealistic. But the damage on desktop and it begins to look a little bit grainy Sensors lower megapixel count begins to show but the image is certainly usable. It's not perfect. Good enough although the go-to video resolution maxes out at one hundred and forty four p and fifty fps the hundred and twenty degree field of view in saturated color. Science creates an image far more unique than what you get from a phone's camera. When viewed on a small screen. Bulich sharpens Bright colors in lots of contrast there also impressed with just how true-to-life to footage looked in perfect lighting conditions. But when they brought it over to the large screen or laptop the footage. Did it noisier. Also wish video taken at night. Had less grain and noise d'amato smoothing apply to low light images. Either by now they have a couple of views on it and a definitely impressive. They do have video samples images of those you interested in reading the article because he probably listening to podcasts. Going while zor stuff to take a look. Yup there is So article goes on to explain some more stuff about how to mobile app works Using touch controls on wireless earbuds but it is available today starting at two hundred ninety nine dollars so if you're kind of like mobile first vlogger avid social media user posting to social media accounts and instagram such. It might be an interesting thing to take a look at if you kind of been looking for something To sink your teeth into that kind of while did the job decent enough. But you don't have too much money but at the same time. Take a look. Let me know what you think.
Trial of Derek Chauvin, charged in George Floyd's death, begins with jury selection
"Difficult of selecting a jury in the trial for minneapolis police officer derek chauvin is underway. Chauvin was filmed with his knee. On george floyd's neck last may and facing second degree murder and manslaughter charges. The post holly bailey. Reports prosecution and defense attorneys began questioning a large pool of potential jurors on tuesday. Even as ongoing appeals over the chargers in the case are threatening to delay the proceedings attorneys press potential jurors on several issues including how many times they had seen the video of floyd's death their views on black lives matter and blue lives matter and what interactions if any they had with the minneapolis police department and other law enforcement by the end of the day three jurors were selected and six others were dismissed after hours of slow and sometimes intense questioning. Vincent Jackson, Former NFL Wide Receiver, Found Dead in Hotel Room
"All know Vincent Jackson former Tampa Bay Buccaneer was found dead in his apartment earlier was it it was last week. I was it last week. Yeah. Yes, it was last week and you know his family members want answers and they've actually donated his brain for a CT now they are doing this because there were things off. His I don't know mannerisms his behavior that kind of led up to this very very tragic ending for him that have people kind of scratching their heads going. This isn't normal. This isn't right. So there's got to be something here. When it comes to CTE. Yeah. So if you don't know who it's in Jackson is he was a wide receiver for the Chargers and the Buccaneers and he was thirty-eight years old took out in his way too young what really sucks about like there were just starting to get details about how he was found and everything. So apparently housekeeping came into the room. He was in a hotel in Florida and they he was slouched over on the couch. So they thought he was sleeping so they left the room and then they you know, they called in a welfare to his family called off their check cuz they hadn't heard from him for like a month. Well, I thought it was only two or three days ago. There was like a stretch where they had he was just kind of doing his own thing and they were concerned because so initially the story was at home. It was a an extended period of time and then the two were two to three days thing that you're talking about is they had talked to him and they hadn't heard from him and they were like, yeah everything seems okay clearly. It wasn't so this ESPN app states that at first they entered the room they assumed he was sleeping so they left the room and then they entered the room again later on and he hadn't moved from his spot. And so that's when they called 911 right? There are no signs of trauma injury. I mean this guy had family and kids. Oh, yeah, and that's why people know why is he staying in an extended States? Very bizarre and that's just kind of the things with CTE is that it just completely disrupts your brain patterns and just any sort of your brains deformed at that point, you know, you're you're doing things you're maybe saying things you're acting certain ways where people are like, whoa, what is going on with you, you know, and it's tremendously sad and at what point what's the solution? I mean, you know the NFL Constantly working on ways to make the game safer and taking care of their players, whether it's you know through the helmets or even like the pads or whatever go down the list of things of the technology of what their actual shooting up in to help combat that but clearly it's not working.

Who went help a game last night against the against the browns lose. What are the three games. And the winnable games. The baltimore or the raiders. Do win those games. The baltimore do does win those game. Then they need the browns to win to lose two out of three. You look get the schedule. Talk possible The biggest deal candor raiders win their last. Three games chargers dolphins at home and then the only road game left is the broncos. The ferret beat the chargers depending on what happens against in week. Fifteen as far as injuries for both the raiders. In the dolphins. I would think over's might be a slight favorite but slight and then the probably favorite against the broncos on the road with the five or two on the road tune for your so they can easily beat win all three of these games. The issue is lost last four. The only win in that stretch was a miracle. Win against win was jets. I mean team wigan emplo two years in a row will see i again..

"The charges are super into they don't have to play CMC ride they don't have to play Chris McCaffrey uses a huge load again off the shoulders of the entire defense and RDC GUS Bradley. The Guy who will be taking his place is Mike Davis. He's a former Chicago bear in Seattle Seahawk He's not too shabby, but he's also knows EMC he at a reception in their last game with because they were playing from behind. I don't think they use him the same way as McCaffrey, but like I still expect the running back to have a role in this game. But Teddy Bridgewater is a dig and dunk quarterback with the occasional deep shot hence. Robbie. Anderson's two hundred plus yards through the first two weeks season he likes to dig dug and with the athleticism of these receivers Dj more Andersen Curtis Samuel they are the type of athletic speedy wideouts that Kanye underneath if you're not able to stay on top of them. So I think need to rattle him real quick Russell Michael Scofield both former chargers. Are Defensive Line knows these guys I'd like to think that gives them a little bit of an advantage. So. I'm looking forward to that matchup just get after him early stay on top of their speed. This isn't the chiefs, right? Yes. s three wide receivers, but they're not the chiefs and they're definitely not being thrown the ball by Patrick mahomes take advantage of what could be considered a little bit of a tune-up game prior to handling the saints in the Tampa Bay buccaneers. Finally. I just continue to run the ball. The chargers lead the NFL with eighty-three. carries. It's not by accident. Anthony. Lynn. Wants to run the ball and he wants to win with his running backs. He's been dying for duo like Ecuadoran Kelly, and through the two weeks, he's been able to use. He's like he's just going to utilize them until he can't anymore right. He's going to run them to the ground and the the game that you know what the Panthers, week defense right not. So great of an offense like the game scripts probably going to call for a healthy dose of the run. So that's why I think this is going to be another huge editor in Joshua Kelly game. Do I think you know they combined for forty again? I'd say that the regression to the mean says they won't but I really wouldn't put it past Anthony Lynn of repeating. What they did against the chiefs and maybe if he decides to run it enough, maybe we see a little bit dairies Bradwell. I think that'd be great to see that Ford F one fifty running around out there but you know. I don't know how big the chances. And that's GonNa do it from pod guys again really appreciate you sticking with me through a week where. Some things just kind of went differently. I couldn't get out of. "Stick on the topic of defense. This panthers defense is the youngest defense. The NFL has fielded in ten years. They have so many young players rookies. Defense. Just looking at the defense here I wanNA pull up their. Their depth chart. But just off the top of my head, they've got Brian Burns. second-year player at Florida. State really good pass rusher. But somehow the same time. The panthers have yet to record a single sack and I think they've got one counted one quarterback hit to their name. So we were looking to the defense. Brian Burns Kwan short. There's a video plane on this. Page for some reason, and it's ruining everything for me. So, let's not do that again. he go. So sorry about that will probably the cut that out if I don't. Look at their desk drawer on defense. All Right Brian. Burns Kwan Short Derrick Brown in year gross mottos. So they're defensive line which believe they run a one-two-three to in a four three front. And, you've got second-year player veteran rookie rookie, Derrick. Brown was her first round pick out of Auburn big beefy three, hundred, forty pound defensive tackle. And then eater grows mottos as a rookie defense event from a Penn State with a second round pick. Potentially a first round pick should have been in with I mean talent. Wise. So as his defense probably GonNa look good in the future. I think. It really does have a good choice or a good chance of being one of those better teams Linebackers Shaq Thompson. Without Leuke keithly this is the first without leuke clean some time. That's huge. Bomber they up Jack Thompson he's fine your whitehead. Former Oakland Raider, fairly good at his job just a good run stopping linebacker Jeremy Chin. Jeremy Chin was a converted safety played safety at Southern Illinois University Athletic Freak. I believe he's like six two. He probably was about to twenty in college, but he's probably upwards of near to thirty plus now that he's actually transition to an outside linebacker in the NFL. You're cornerback. We're going to be Dante Jackson and Troy Pride Junior Tripod junior rookie Jeremy. Chin rookie grows mottos and Derek Brown rookie. So you've got four rookies. Starting on this Defense Dante Jackson I believe is a once a third year player. Strong safety just a births free safety trae Boston also known as the former charger. Boston. So you take this. Week. Very weak inexperienced. Not, a lot of name power on his defense anymore without Luke. Equally? Mario Addison is gone. A lot of those names that. Were on this team. The last couple of years they are now gone. and what does does is it provides a very. Very. WAS SORTA WANNA look. For ideal. Of Very, ideal. Match. Justin Herbert. It is his second start. In the NFL. his first start came obviously as a surprise against the Kansas City chiefs. And you know. that. Probably played to his. Advantage the chiefs didn't have any film on Him. Right? They were planning to stop tyrod Taylor. They got just an Herbert. He had a great day. Some people are saying that. With with a week of film, right like the the panthers have a game film to Tipper to scout issued me just Herbert. And some people said young with a this team's GonNa have the film. You know maybe don't expect. Justin Herbert to have a great day because of that. And I just don't think it's that ipso facto like. I mean the office was very enough. but at the same time, this defense is, what is this defense has led up sixty five points through the first two weeks. This defense has been soft against the run Josh. Jacobs scored three touchdowns in week one of the raiders. I, believe. The Tampa Bay buccaneers last week rougher for three scores. Leonard. Fournette. Had Two scores on one hundred and twelve hundred, twelve yards. Ronald Jones had another score. Like this defense is going to get rushed on. And Yeah I just have to agree because you look this defense of Front Brian Burns is not a run Saban defensive end that guy's an outside linebacker. Playing Defense True Defensive End. Derrick Brown and Co on shore or good Youtube Gross Mottos Isn't a run stopping defense event. He's a pass rusher. He's an edge rusher. He's not that complete yet. Jack Thompson find to hear Whitehead Fine Jeremy. Chen again former safety. While to see how he is. So, this game is probably going to be a healthy dose of. Of Exeter Josh Kelly I'm sorry for that pause. The allergies are killing me. But Real quick. My Keys to victory. For. Victory over the panthers and this is an article ideal Bolton blue So we're GONNA. Go over this real quick. And let me remind this is a casual. kind of spur of the moment podcast because things didn't work out this week but that's twenty twenty. So I do apologize for the the the casualness, the looseness of this podcast please don't. Crucify for me her crucify me for this I greatly appreciate it. So I'm heading rabble pot, just real quick with my thoughts on my three keys to a panthers and number one is just keep it simple with Justin. Herbert for another week. in the Chiefs Game The the coaching Steichen Anthony. Land they all said that. They kept it simple for her because obviously, it was a surprise start. They weren't going to have the full load at. The playbook they weren't GonNa, do that to the rookie so they didn't they kept it simple and and he made that offense. If that was simple. I would like to see the complicated version of his offense right Justin Herbert did an immaculate job. Running offense orchestrating that unit. He just agree and I think for another week. Again, this is the second straight week starting there's no need to expand the playbook ten times over. Because he's now the starter like officially right going into this week, you don't need to keep it simple. He's a smart guy when he can use more of that brainpower to better do the you know handful of things you know they they did last week I just I think that's better than trying to stretch right his attention. Is focused all that stuff so keep it simple for Herbert one more week. At least one more week. Maybe we can open up a little bit against the Tampa buccaneers. Number three defense needs to take advantage of the DMZ..

"I think he is I want to say six in the NFL in rushing yards at this moment hasn't found the end zone yet but he's turned thirty five carries in two hundred seventy, seven yards. I. Think. He's yes. Six behind Josh Jacobs who is in fifth and then Hunter Henry is your leading receiver through two games. Eleven catches one, hundred, fifty, six yards he just in Herbert. Has created quite the connection with Hunter Henry. He's been real good at not only getting the ball like in the right spots, but giving him an opportunity to run after the catch, and that's something that Hunter Henry showed of lot against the chiefs he was able to break tackles 'cause hunters Herbert threw him the ball where you know he threw the ball away from defenders. You know he did a lot of those curl routes was little curls right there in the middle of a check down and Herbert through him open and or gave him the ability for rack yards and I think that's a big deal. Herbert was a big fan of. Thrown in the tight end at Oregon his leading receiver was Jacob Religion who ended up not getting drafted but he honestly, he probably should have. He was really good leading receiver for the Oregon ducks before he ended with with a season ending injury and I believe he was picked up as UDF with the Ravens, and I'm not sure if he was cut or if he's on a practice squad somewhere but anyway, Herbert loves tight end he told me when I asked him about the call yesterday about his connection with Henry noted that stemmed from him loving the tight end, which was Jacob really at Oregon. And he said that he loves the Titan because of what they can do for an offense right they can stretch the field they can block especially Hunter Henry at his size six five to fifty having such a large catch radius. That it just makes his job easier right and that's what a Titan should be besides you don't play different roles for an offense a tight end. Where I think they succeed the most and where they help other teams their team become successful. is to be checked down guy. A CONSISTENT presence. On third down. I think. Honestly those tuning, and again, you don't need all the yards. You don't need all the touchdowns. But when you're good those things third down. The check, down? Guy. Those come. Because of quarterbacks smart. Whether played a good offense or me good defense bad defense. They to go the ball, they make the right decision and and more often than not. The Deepak isn't going to be open. It's going to be something underneath and Bang there goes your tight end. So big fan of that connection there Hanif.

This is a global pandemic. Dad has just suffocated. Though world, everybody has had to deal with it. We are built on an economy for crying out loud. There are bills that have to be paid. There's money that needs to be generated because people have to live, and it's not just the athletes themselves. We know that. That you can't afford it and I'm not talking about that specific individual, but by and large professional athletes who are paid handsomely certainly more than the average Joe. Worldwide can afford to take time off. Sit Back, and you know whether it's a month or even years we can afford to. That is not the luxury. Ninety nine percent of our global population has at their disposal so as a result anything that generates revenue doesn't mean you ignore safety protocols. It doesn't mean you don't exhaust option to make sure and every avenue necessary to ensure the safety of the participants and beyond, but at some point in time you don't get. To actually have to go out there and work and hope that the medical professionals and leagues that that over you are working in concert with those folks listening to them and exhausting every safety measure imaginable, but you can't stop at some point in time. You have to move forward. You have to do that because that is the world that we live in no matter where you live that people just need to stop complaining about that. That's the reality I'm not saying it's great, but it's the reality. I take your take on ESPN RADIO ESPN APP. siriusxm channel eighty in ESPN news I'M NOT GONNA. "Of all see what I was saying. Just what I was saying about black coaches you. At the charges and he's going to give a brother in Colin Kaepernick opportunity. You see how that works. That's what the kind of stuff that I'm talking about here now doesn't guarantee Colin Kaepernick job. They're still Cam Newton out. The believe deserve a job in the national football league obviously tyrod Taylor who you got your quarterback so certainly going to look at Colin Kaepernick indefinitely. You want to look at him. Because Philip rivers has been their fresh off a twenty interceptions, even to forty six hundred yards, but the bottom line is. He was slow as a snail with arthritis and snails. Don't get as meaning the brother Campbell so you need somebody like. Like cabinet that can at least run with the football because you know that's going to be a dual threat, what you're seeing from Lamar Jackson, which capable of seeing from the Shawn Watson and other. This is a beautiful beautiful thing. I'm happy about it. You obviously got Mike. Williams and Kim now need to throw the football to Henry haunted tied in, so that's a good deal out Anthony Lynn. Again is your coach. Our brother given an opportunity to brother. I kinda like it I. Like it a lot I. Wish Colin Kaepernick well. By the way took the words out of my mouth, Stephen A. isn't it interesting that in a city like Los Angeles? That with an African American coach Colin Kaepernick is getting a look and hopefully a fair shake that remains to be seen, and now he's going to have to make it on the merits as well which probably would have been easier to do several years ago, we'll see. But boy white people look bad again. I got shown up why? Don't people understand who turn a blind eye to racist structures in our culture in our society for lack of a better word. Don't they understand that this is what we are talking about the multiracial coalition of goodwill. Why does it take? A black coach to give capper Nick Shop. You think that's coincidental. The odds if that's coincidental. And if there were more African Americans in positions of power, starting with ownership, then executives GM's and such and then coaches. Do you think capper Nick really would have been out of the League for four years? Do you think the commissioner and the owners would have buckled? cravenly to political pressure like they did. Or was that not really buckling was that actually reflecting there will as well and they did it with if not glad hearts at least. Knowing that they weren't doing anything. They didn't want to do by drumming Cabernet out of the League. It makes. It makes those who argue the point. Look bad and good for Kapernick and good for Anthony Lynn and good for the loss. Good for the Los Angeles chargers provided that this is a fair shake. y'All significant change to your point makes excited about the fact that he gets a legitimate shot in the processes in which you should be able to work out and if a team signed, you're not I, think in this particular situation either way it goes, the chargers won't look bad because you legitimize the process of how you sign a football player, and that's what we're talking about. A little bit of history to Greg Roman was wit San Francisco. With the Forty Niners at the time Colin Kaepernick was playing quarterback Greg Roman obviously left with the Baltimore. In Baltimore Lamar Jackson so we see a lot of what was implemented with Colin Kaepernick as far as how Lamar Jackson that offense was ran as well that is, that is the connection between Anthony Land. Because both of those guys have worked together. I'm just trying to get football context to this. There's familiarity that is something that has happened in this league. Coaches gravitate to players that they know and players that they know working. Working Their System Anthony. Land has stated time and time again. We've lamented about the fact that the chargers won in athletics quarterback the second thing the chargers already have four quarterback rule so Colin is going to have to come in and earn a spot on roster tyrod Taylor obviously, they draft to just to Herbert who they intend to the future. Anthony Lynn has spoke highly of eastern stick a quarterback that they drafted late. In this draft as far as having an opportunity to play in this league, so I'm just excited about the legitimacy of what Colin Kaepernick has the opportunity to do. Because a team is willing to give him an opportunity to be a football player and something that he's good at, but this is a this is the exact example of what we're talking about beyond sports, this is so important for athletes to raise their voice about what happens in their particular leads, and also in society. This is a process of something happening out of good because we're having these conversations in this country right now. I take your take on ESPN radio ESPN news. I'm Jason Fitz. Available wherever you enjoy your podcast I, think it's interesting because one of the things that see as stressed today in talking about Colin Kaepernick. A tryout somewhere doesn't ensure him a job. That's very true. Take anything away from that take. That's obviously factual, but it reminds me a little bit or Nashville. Songs in Nashville before anybody records your song, they usually do what's called putting it on hold, so somebody like Tim McGraw listens to a song, and he says well. I'M GONNA. Put It on, hold on. I'm going to think about it. You don't get a cut without getting hold. There are certain things that have to happen. I'm not going to run a marathon tomorrow. Guess what I can't. Can't run twenty six point two miles right now. That's absolutely true, but if I'm able to run a little bit I'm one step closer to it. At some point, we can get so obsessed with the result of whether or not cabinet designed right now without at least acknowledging that he's going to have to try out somewhere so even if the hill you WanNa die on with Colin Kaepernick. "You're probably looking at guys like Austin Jackson. As Cleveland from Boise State Josh Jones from Huston. Tcu's Lucas Neang. And Isaiah Wilson. Who is the right tackle? Who played with Andrew Thomas at Georgia? All those guys are good players good athletes Lucas and Yang has dealt with some injury issues. But I think Cleveland actually here might be the best bet if the team is looking to go towards a more zone base run scheme. I like better athletes guys. Who are or better out in space? Who climbed the second level and are able to break down. Get in front of secondary defenders latch onto linebackers and create help create bigger run lanes right. They allow the run lanes. Not gets jumbled because they're able to get up to the linebackers quicker than the linebackers are to kind of read their keys and start disrupting their place. So I do like Ezra Cleveland Austin Jackson is also a pretty good athlete as well. Josh Jones didn't tests that well but he looks really good in pass protection. He's another guy that if you wanNA pure pass protector. Josh Jones is probably your guy in terms of that second tier of offense tackles Lucas and Yang. Good good laterally as well. I watched little. Tcu Film the Guy can get out and space. The guy can move around He played mostly right tackle. But I've seen him move back and forth when the team needed him. Good Versatile Guy and then Isaiah Wilson phenomenal athlete as well for as large as he's about six three hundred forty. Five fifty pounds ran pretty. Well I think he ran like a five two which is still good for that size. Strong strong strong strong. You'd like you've seen him at the combine. He was wearing sleeveless shirt and his his biceps. Triceps are just popping. And that's something that can get. You excited about offensive lineman. When they're physically built that well looking like they put in the work they know what to do. They made themselves that way. It's just a test of their work ethic and their knowledge about how to get the most out of themselves now moving onto linebacker. There's only one linebacker that I would have at pick number six that I would be comfortable with. And then as obviously Isaiah Simmons out of Clemson he is a army machete. The Guy can do it all and he's good at everything right. People make that whatever that analogy is over. You know your jack-of-all-trades but a master of none. Well I mean the guy's really good. It was not a master of a bunch of stuff. He's to really freaking good at a bunch of different things. I don't think he's going to be a deep safety whatsoever. I know like he tells the safety. That's plain linebackers. Well he's not going to be. That guy is going to be another Derwin James. Whether you're GONNA use a sub package linebacker will linebacker something like that. He's going to be on the field a lot and he's GonNa move around the field a lot secondary guys for linebacker you're looking at Jordan Brooks from Texas Tech. You're looking at Logan Wilson from Wyoming and even Kenneth Murray had ham moore is probably going to go in the first round sometime after the chargers pick in the first but Daniel Jeremiah. I believe it was recently had a mock where Kenneth Murray fell to the chargers with their second round. Pick at thirty seven. I wouldn't really be against it. The Guy was a tackling machine is a wild child doesn't does have issues in coverage but at the same time. I don't think they would need him to really be covers. They have plenty of other good college or coverage linebackers as well as bigger safeties that can fill that role but Jordan Brooks Man Jordan Brooks productive all four seasons at Texas tech most recently over one hundred eight tackles. He had twenty tackles for loss. Three sacks twenty tackles for loss. This is a guy who had five for loss in sixteen only had a half a tackle for loss in seventeen six and a half in two thousand eighteen and then went off for twenty tackles for loss. The guy was a wild child he lived in the backfield. The Guy can sift through traffic and get two running backs before they get to the line of scrimmage. I like him a lot. I probably wouldn't take him any earlier than round three though Logan Wilson just touch on him a very good coverage. Linebacker rectal tackles at Wyoming Again. A not amid major. But he's a group of five player right so it'd be interesting to see how he would fare against some of the top talent. He did participate in the senior bowl down in mobile and he did have a decent week but nothing. I heard that was terribly crazy. Impressive going on wide receiver kind of run down. The last two to secondary options terms of team needs for the charges in this year's draft wide receiver. So some of the top guys the names. I have for the chargers. Maybe at the top of the second with this. Whether it's Denzel Mims they need speed right so speed is going to be a big deal for some of these wide receivers that I have selected. Denzel mims six three two hundred twelve pounds kind of broke out over. The last two seasons for Baylor had a phenomenal week at the senior bowl. The Guy was great killed in one on ones and I understand one on ones are made for wide receivers to to win the same way. That one on ones defensive lineman offense of Lyman. The defense is normally going to win but he just create separation on a consistent basis. He would. He's so good and contested catches as well on top of having four three eight four three nine forty yard dash speed right. This is a guy that can not only run away from people but when he has to be contested he actually has the proper ball skills to make these catches to snagged out of the air. He's physical at the catch point. And that's what this chargers team needs. They got Mike Williams. Who's obviously good at the catch point? Keenan Allah's no Sasha's well but having the speed they missed Sarah Williams they do do do need. That doesn't Jefferson's another name. I think he still goes in the first round. Not He's not a absolute speed demon but he's still a four four. Five guy played for the defending National Champs. Was really good for them. I think he's a solid wide receiver. That if he's there at thirty seven I don't know how you don't take a look at him. Some of the other names speed guys. Florida's Van Jefferson Penn. State's Caja Kamler. Tcu's Jalen Ray Gore who actually didn't test nearly as fast as we thought still fast. I think on the fours but we thought four three. Maybe even touching four twos. Unfortunately that wasn't the case at the combine Van Jefferson's another six three wide receiver. I think is about sixty two hundred pounds like the speed size combination but Hamer ragwort are probably going to be your slot guys I they're not going to be your ex. You're flanker whatever they're not gonNA win contested catches. They're just going to create separation and probably be a you know a guy on third down. They look too often in early. Some later options so these are all day three options as well Denver. Nee Four three nine forty from Texas. He's about five. Tends just stocky built really well contact balances? There can be a home. Run hitter Everything clicks and he's able to make one guy miss he's that type of Guy Darnell moonies a five ten wide receiver. One hundred eighty seven pounds to lane also ran a four three. Something Fortieth Combines Louisville's four three eight speed there and we've got zeh coulter. He was a four four. Four four four five guy from Rhode Island. He's six two. I WANNA say about two hundred and five pounds can be a good X. Wide Receiver can play beat one on one coverage raw but a good athlete in someone that the chargers could basically work into slowly into that starting lineup of wide receivers now finishing this whole thing up. We've got running backs now. The chargers we already love who they have at running back right. We Got Austin. You've got just Jackson Love Ecuador. He can do anything he wants to win. An offense and be good just Jackson in his limited time. He struggled with a little bit of injuries. But when he's on the field he does make a difference and he makes plays happen. All you gotTa do is look back to what he did to help. The chargers comeback the steelers two years ago. If you look at his numbers he's really efficient. His yards per average believe is well over five. The guy's good just knows he's not the fastest. The crazies athlete in the world was a four time. Our four year starter northwestern all four years when over one thousand yards ninth player to do that in big ten history. The guy's good and so if the charges aren't sold though on Justin Jackson being that complementary partner to Austin Ecuador I would say maybe round three s highs around to take these guys but cam acres. I love Camakers from Florida State. He played behind one of the most. If not the most horrendous offensive line In College last year and he was contacted every one at a three runs of his he was contacted behind. Or at the line of scrimmage and the guy still rush for well over eleven hundred yards I think had over twenty touchdowns not entirely sure close to it if not guys good phenomenal and then you look at Zach Moss. Bigger Guy Five. Ten Two hundred twenty five pounds. This would be your goal guy. This would be your guy you know could turn out yards. He was I think he recorded. The most broken tackles at of any running back in the country this past season. That is something that the chargers need as well. Melvin Gordon could never seem to really that done when he was one on one with defenders in open space some later options as well on Tonio Gibson from Memphis. This is a guy who was technically a receiver in college but was a utility guy he he. He rushed the ball. He caught the ball. He did it all. He looks like he's GonNa be a running back in the NFL. He's a big dude. As well. Let me see if I have a stats or anything pulled up here E- I don't think I did anyway. He still was efficient terms of touches per score or scores per touches. I believe he's five ten six foot two hundred twenty seven pounds. The guy is solid Josh. Kelly Hi Love Josh. Kelly he was. He's a hometown guy. Ucla lose five ten two hundred and fifteen pounds. Something along those lines. He's solid. He had a really great year. Or Excuse me great senior bowl this year. I think he was one of the. I don't know if he was the MVP or not but he had over one hundred yards in the senior bowl. Game The scrimmage that Saturday five eleven two hundred nine hundred pound back. The Guy can kind of do all you can make guys miss. He's got some hops. Will Hurl over you given the chance. I'll he's a late day. Three guy you can come in and be a significant contributor for the chargers and then lastly I have a guy named Shavuot a looney Lua and if you guys haven't seen anything about Shavuot he is from TCU He was never the spotlight feature back for the horned frogs. He split the backfield every year. He was there. He played for years this past season. He split the backfield with a guy named Darius Jet Anderson and it's weird because a guy who's nickname is jet didn't even run that fast before. I think he didn't even break four fives but oh well she will six three two hundred and thirty pounds two hundred and two to be exact tenants. Hands huge ran a four six six at the combine. It's going to be the fastest thing in the world. But this is a guy who works out with The footwork king seen him social media. He trains a lot of college. High School won't even professional players like lady on Bell. Melvin Gordon Darius slay He works with the best. He knows how to get the most out of these guys all about footwork and he know Shay what was got really good feet jumped thirty six inches broad jump ten foot three four to eight in the twenty yard shuttle. The guy was a wildcat quarterback near the goal. Line for the horned. Frogs scored a lot of touchdowns eight this past year. Seven the year before the guy has a nose for the end zone knows how to break contact as well very good with yards. After contact falls forward is able to be slippery just enough to get past the first defender. He just didn't get enough carries or else I think he would've had some of the best numbers in the country comparatively. So those are the guys I like for the chargers kind of quick and dirty on this but again guerrilla podcast needed to get this up and I know you guys some people have reached out to me about powder blue review and wondering what was going with that so surprise here we are. This is the new show chargers lately. Still deciding whether or not you know the the frequency of these. I'm going to be posting a lot of little short pods throughout the draft. Week You guys come up to date on my feelings reactions of what they're doing and guys. It's Christmas every single day. Christie's Christmas Eve every single day. This week I honestly cannot wait so really Guys listening in hope. You guys enjoyed the quick and dirty of the T. needs probably gonNA post this on Bolt from the blue. We'll talk about in the comments. What's going on your thoughts and feelings towards what I said today. And that's just about it so thank you very much tuning in you guys very soon..

"Hey everyone and welcome to the very first edition of my brand new show called chargers lately and if you guys if that sounds familiar at all it's actually the very first twitter handle. I had before I changed it to zone tracks and I get artwork for the show and everything like Vat. You'll see that. I spill chargers lately with the LA capitalized. And obviously that plays into you. Know they play in L. A. And obviously that's kind of the joke. I think it's catchy. Whatever some you guys are probably thinking and wondering what happened to powder blue review well probably review was with blue wire and unfortunately I am no longer with blue wire because I got hired fulltime onto espy nation and can't really work for a competitor as you work for another team so now this is it. This is the new show charges lately. I really hope you guys enjoy it kind of had to spring up out of nowhere honestly with the draft here. Obviously I want you guys to kind of get my thoughts be able to talk to you guys about the team and what they should do in the draft and all that good stuff. So here we are. It's kind of like a guerilla. Podcast coming out of nowhere. But today's episode. We're just GONNA talk about the team. Needs for the chargers talking about what positions they need to target the most and keep an eye on the closest as we get closer and closer to around one on Thursday so if I had to make a short list of what positions I think. The chargers should look into obviously quarterbacks at the top and depending on who you are that's on the same tier as offensive tackle. So we're looking at a starting quarterback team needs a left tackle and some of these secondary positions that the chargers obviously need to look into our linebacker depth wide receiver three and potentially another running back to pair with Justin Jackson and Austin editor and one. That's probably on the bigger side right. One that can score touchdowns from the goal line. Be Used when Austin is not in the Backfield. He is out wide in the slot. Move around the formation but the chargers still have a threat in the backfield even if awesome out doing something else so we're kind of just going to go from position to position. Pardon me and I'm GonNa talk about you. Know the top guys guys. That should be their first selection right when it comes to that position. So like a quarterback. I'm going to go through the guys who they could potentially take six and then if they don't take a quarterback at six some other guys that potentially target either around two three whatever so on and so forth when we get into some of these secondary needs. Well they're probably not gonNA go wide receiver and the first right but the highest could go with wide receivers the second and if they don't take the second or third maybe there's some day three guys same thing with running back. Maybe there's a guy on day three or sees me round three and if they don't take one you know in third round maybe they take a guy on day three rounds four five six seven. Something like that so yeah. We'll just go ahead and start with quarterback mean not too much structure to this show. Where is GONNA get this bad boy going So quarterback obviously Joe Borough is off the case. There is no chance charters. Get Joe Borough. Barring them trading the entire draft hall Allah the what was it the Saints Trading essentially their whole draft frying ninety seven plus a first and third to draft running back. I believe it was Ricky Williams. That's obviously not going to happen. And you would hope no one ever does anything like that ever ever ever again. So options at number six right. It's too it is just an Herbert and to a much lesser extent. It is Jordan love. But I'm including here because he's still deemed a first round quarterback regardless if I think he's a first round quarterback personally Secondary options if they don't like either of those guys they decide to pass on quarterback. You still got guys like jalen hurts. His obviously very interesting writing. Or you're looking at Jacob. Jason just tall big armed physical stature Type Guy. Kinda checks all those boxes. If you my personal opinion I think the pick your needs to be two I I I don't think you can pass on a guy who so fundamentally sound in naturally accurate in all phases of it right in the pocket out of the pocket off platform able to make these throws in honest to God. When it comes to quarterbacks in me Looking at quarterbacks evaluating quarterbacks what ID most important is just pure accuracy now. A lot of people will take quarterbacks who may have some fundamental issues and they think oh if they just fixed this that they they raise their elbow up a little more. They could fix them these accuracy issues and I'm just like no patch. Mahomes coming out do not have the most Orthodox throwing motion right. People dinged him for that and they didn't know how he would get away with in the NFL and obviously we see that patch. Mahomes is doing just fine in the NFL. If a guy is accurate if a guy in no matter the situation knows how to contorted arm angle knows how to put touch on the ball in some way shape or form put a different spin on it to make sure it goes where it needs to go and get to their their wide receiver. They're tied in the running back whatever. Then that's a naturally accurate quarterback too is that I think you know without getting too much into the advance stats. He was the most accurate quarterback in terms of getting the ball within the cone. The the body of the receivers right that they didn't have to jump off the ground enough to fully extend he always consistently got the ball in a position where the The wide receiver whomever caught the ball within. They're kind of like body cone. I'm not sure how to describe that. They didn't need to try that hard to to to stretch out and make like a difficult catch. He didn't make it on his receivers. Then you've got a guy like Justin Herbert olive physical traits in the world. Right Big Guy. Six to thirty five ish Depending on part time of season he's been as low as twenty five he's been upwards of two forty at sometimes guy ran like a what a four six eight four six nine forty he can use his legs and I don't think he uses legs. That oftener was even allowed to until the final couple of games of the season where you saw him rush a lot and will the ducks over. Utah in the PAC twelve championship and over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl game. He needs to throw with better touch. He needs to throw almost a natural grace to it. I'm not sure how to describe that either. It just looks like he's forcing passes but forcing not in the way of like it's double coverage he's trying to force the ball in a tight window. No it's just instead of kind of grip in it and ripping it to his receivers with a short intermediate deep. It looks like he's just guiding the football a little too much and it makes me think that it's not as natural for him to just throw the ball and I want throwing the ball to look as natural as possible like essentially. You're in the backyard playing around with your friends right. I just wanted to look that natural and easy for you and I think he's kind of struggling with that a little bit Jordan. Love a guy who went from throwing for thirty two touchdowns and rushing for seven more into eighteen with. I think against six seven interceptions all of a sudden through seventeen interceptions to twenty total touchdowns through the air just took a big step back. Obviously everyone knows that he lost coaches. You starting personnel around him. I get that so I I don't think he's a backup quarterback. I just don't think he's worth a first round pick and then again. Your secondary options hurts and eastern hurts as guy scored over fifty plus touchdowns. I think he ran over twenty touchdowns through for thirty two. I think it is regardless of what you think about his game in whether translator not some. Nfl coach is going to be able to probably get something out of him. And he's got a lot of those uncuttable intangibles that you could look into and I won't be like mad if they took him at the top of the second if they took offense to tackle with the first round pick I just wouldn't feel great about it and that's kind of just a gut reaction to the idea of that pick moving on we've got offense tackles now. I'm a little bit of a homer here and I. I know I don't like being home. Obviously by always just say that. I'm a little biased. With who I think the tackle should be in. If they're going to offense attack in the I I think it needs to be. I was Tristan worse. I think guys like him or not. You know drafted or in the draft. Every year I think he has an amazing combination of fundamentally being being fundamentally sound technique wise on top of his elite athleticism and one of his biggest Knox. And I'll even give. This is that he tested dominantly at the NFL combine. But when he's on the field he gets the job done he's a good player but he doesn't dominate his opponents physically the way he dominated his athletic testing. You know he's not finishing and tea bagging and doing terrible things to defensive lineman the way Clinton Nelson did but honestly if you look at tristen size like why six five three twenty s. That's roughly what Clinton Nelson was. It's just a different mindset. I think he's between the years I think he's a little bit softer. He's a good good kid mama's boy but he's so athletic he's still super dominant and getting the job done. It's just not in that nasty way that you would really prefer your offensive linemen To have such that. Mindset Jesuit wills little more of a nasty guy finisher. He is super athletes. As well. Not The athlete attrition. Works is but just for the offensive. Tackle position is an athlete. I think he ran a five zero seven. I WANNA say was jumped thirty four and a half inches which was just to less than than worse overall good Athletic Tester But the guy can move very well also very good laterally reach blocks you know beatable across the faces of outside shades when they run into him good. Good athletes good demeanor with the position. He played only right tackle at Alabama though he was the only top tackle. Those four guys worse wheels. Becton and Thomas. That didn't have any snaps whatsoever at the other. Tackle position away from the one that he played so everything he did was at right tackle. I wouldn't be overjoyed with the pick but I still think I mean this guy. We can work with. Wouldn't make too much sense with a blog. Pick just got worse. Could play left tackle if needed? Then you get like. Obviously the true left tackles come into the strap you got becton. Thomas Becton is sodium cool to watch play football because he's massive and he doesn't move like a massive guy there's been guys like I think exact banners name was a six eight three hundred sixty pound guy who when he played you could tell he was just so big and could barely figure out how to move his body. That'S NOT BECTON. Beckon is actually super ran a five one one unofficial forty at the combine still superstrong to twenty-three bench reps at the combine. Apparently you know that was due to much lower than can really do his trainer. Duke many weather put up a video after the combine showing him do thirty reps at the end of a workout and that was obviously much higher than twenty three done at the combine road greater. The guy can use all the torque in the world to he doesn't have to vertically displaced people he can just latch on uses hips. And throw a guy out of a hole to create lanes or the running back and he's got that nasty mindset that I really liked for offensive tackles Andrew Thomas. He is probably the best pure pocket. Protector pass protector in this draft Great fee smooth. It's a little choppy. I would like to be a bit smoother. But he gets the job. Done has really strong hands so once he gets his hands on defensive linemen and pass rushers. It is really hard for them to disengage. And that's an easy way for offense alignment to be deemed good right like once they get their hands on you. You're done for that's pass. Protector should be at the end of the day. My biggest worry with Thomas is that he struggles with power I saw him get literally. Tossed by defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence from lsu on several occasions and one of their last games against each other. And I don't ever WanNa see that from a dominant offensive. Linemen that sucks. You don't Nelson doing that. Some of the top tackles and other guys in the NFL. You don't see them. Give physically tossed two or three yards in the air on a single play. Just not the big fan of it secondary options for often attack if they go quarterback in the first..

"Have the end of a career giants say you lie many will formally announce his retirement at a news conference on Friday manning played his entire sixteen year career with the giants after being drafted first overall in two thousand four by the Chargers but he would be traded to New York why don't you want to play for the Chargers no not really right now is this the the charges the big one maybe with the ball in your hands at the beginning it's the Superbowl forty six please see something like this before he fall down would be in that's a heck of a parole now if you want to leave the Superbowl winning a number starter you I'll back him up David Jones ready to play we're going with but just to handle support Daniels in the best of this is there is nothing to talk about it's a suffering from the in the spring the start the manager is the one man in the hall of fame is a mortal lock you can book a flight from right now at the canton Ohio in exactly five we rating is thirty nine holds every virtually every team passing record but of course one of losing the starting job to Ricky Daniel Jones in October now he's calling it a career ESPN's Dan Graziano yellow delight it feels good from what we're told he feels healthy didn't play much this year so that makes sense and was interested in the idea of continuing his career elsewhere if.

"Working. Missile Yeah Okay. been suggesting this this one and it's a really interesting thing because and it's a really interesting thing because although may feel dominated that here's the trivia question who's dominated in the NFL rivers. Yeah but that's just about right but they've actually met twice before it Rudolph and Mayfield of Split those two games so there we go that we go love dropping the heavyweight trivia. That just equate line before we get them out on the steelers at five and four still alive more than we. Could you see a given the way the wild card race is particularly competitive. Is there a realistic chance of the steelers thinking in the back door to you this game as the huge huge one for them and for the browns as well because the browns will think they've got an outside shot you know if they can sort of have a second half like they did last year but that's such a tough division that it's it's going to be difficult to catch the Ravens. Obviously you've got the division you so you have to think that apart from the South the AFC the AFC is looking like your divisions are said even though the chiefs you know don't have much of a lead right now you you sort of. You have to think that they're going to take that division in the end so the Patriots and the chiefs and the Ravens would look like three division winners. Then you've got the south and then you've you've got your your two wild card teams I think Pittsburgh's got to be in the running For one of those wildcards and really the you know the pit the Second Pittsburgh Baltimore Gamble turn out to be a huge one. We'll stay on the subject as we get into the mailbox to wrap might rope got in touch with us at the NC shows is how you get in touch with the show. We're on Instagram facebook. The old twitter pick your poison. Rub references the charges chiefs game on Monday which is in Mexico. Mexico gets a game and potentially a goody the as well robotics and I'm suspecting he might be a charges fan but let's see what you think might kind of bolts win signal run to the playoffs in the wide open you you know send San Diego always do this. It's and you know I think you know. I think when they're in Mexico they really should be called San Diego again if not one either if not yet about like a Tijuana chargers they say yeah. I'm surprised if if the raiders can move to Las Vegas some spice. The chargers can't move to Tijuana. Make it happen but anyway. I think you can't count the charges out. Although you know you keep seeing them winning ugly as were and you would really like to see them winning a game where they were they sort of dominate. And look really good instead of just instead of just sort of hanging in there and you know being pesky and biting at your by your ankles in eventually coming out with a win in the end. They thought that That colts game. If it wasn't Brian Hoyer You know they're they're probably they're probably not going to the probably having a tough time with that and You know it's funny. It's funny with the charges because they pretty much done this for all. All of the last one is fifteen years whatever. Injuries have been a factor in a lot of those years but the game against Oakland on on Thursday night. Yeah what was a good one from their point of view and Melvyn Melvin. Gordon looked looked. Good ran well and But but Rivers Oakland Got Two rivers and there were twenty penalties in that game. Three turnovers and They they just couldn't pull that that off and so I think at four and six. It's a longshot. Especially because the raiders are as I keep saying limited but playing. Well they're kind of the opposite of the chargers Richard Scott them doing th. They're actually doing what he wants to do. Very well in playing within themselves whereas the chargers always be playing either above or below the selves as a great proud of that parallel. Tim O.. Quick for you Mike Dean speaking ballet but club clues it clear that it isn't blind date and maybe it is. I'd always a big fan of the show and I think he appreciates my calling game with too many penalties of Blandino. I enjoyed that. How serious is the situation in? La and he's talking rams. As short mcveigh a two season wonders. That things are unraveling. How how worried should rams fans be about? It is a problem. It is a problem. Because they've hitched their their their wagon to jared Goff and and since the Super Bowl teams are not afraid of their offense. You know and when they don't have brandin cooks as they didn't Against Pittsburgh a AH again it takes away one of those dimensions to the offense depend on you. Know you don't have to worry about the deep threat from Cooper Cup so there in fact is on there. I mean you. You pointed out earlier in the season to us when we were doing the game on TV. Together the change in the offensive line in the. You've got a todd. Gurley elite is year on year. And certainly look at an eighteen months two years ago to now severely diminished. And Yeah you're right you would have a pilot. Brandin cooks missing missing regularly. It's no surprise that they haven't that's it and you know and I think it's obvious girly can't do a lot of the things that he used to do. which which which means? You don't have to worry about him so much I mean he's still got some power and burst but he doesn't seem to be able to cut the way he did. They're not running about on pass routes the way they dead and the offensive line I think Whitworth may have reached the end now. Yep He's he's you know he's a veteran has been there a long time They don't have they don't have a great offensive line this year and without those extra threats. It's it's very hard to keep defenses honest against you and as I said before with makeup. It's Patrick Teams. Have figured out ways to confuse. Jared Goff you know to make make his life more difficult and by taking Cooper Cup out of the game which is what the steelers dealers also did it left him with very little recourse in terms of offense and their defense hasn't been quite up to level. I think teams. I don't think people realize that sues loss would be as as serious as it was because although he didn't really seem to do much for the rams he was on it. Yeah Yeah. He was absorbing attention that made Aero Aaron. Donald a little bit more more effective so that you can you know we saw Blake Bortles for one play where he basically was incomplete on the bay. They ran on. They had an option. Run that they wanted to run. You know and I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a little bit more of that That that was my favorite favorite. Took Me Greg. We're talking about Monday. The next play they wheel about Jodi Heiki comes. That was. That was pretty awful. I mean the when when you're running fake punts and you your punter lines up only nine yards deep kind of obvious. Tell Yeah Johnny Hecker had that brilliant fake punt with Andy Lee where where they ran they ran basically. They ran the snap APP direct to the up man who then lateraled it back to the gun or coming from the side so it was a reverse and the governor lateral that back to Lee who just stood there watching change and then leave through throws this past which was basically just up in the air but everybody was psyched chose shots. I'm trying remember the receiver. Cedric comes back for it. Though you know runs underneath it and And then and then makes the catchy. We was Oh fairways Pharaoh Pharaoh Cooper that was just brilliant Royat. And that's what you gotta do and Johnny Hackers Great on fake punts. y'All can't but you can't make it obvious and that one was so obvious it it just. It just seemed futile question yesterday. Playing five aside playing in goal. Roll the ball to and each autumn. Not One of my teammates who took the ball. I must have wrote about two feet. Deep in our half of his he then went the whole way up the field and scored good. Does that count as an assist. Yes absolutely I'd be old. Basketball rule for assists is is. Is that if the player makes the shot without having to avoid another player you get assists and love it. But the hockey rule is you get two assists on a play so you just have to be involved in the place so I think under NHL rules. You get an assist. Thanks Buddy Mike Seal of approval so that is good good another.

"The time. I stayed chicken. Glenn? You know, you get these Thursday night games on the schedule. And you hope they live up to the hype. And then you get a night light last night that actually exceeds it chargers and chiefs, and it was a classic in every way they come to all the way down fourth quarter. But this is. Patrick Mahomes, throwing a touchdown in the first quarter. This actually is the entirety of the game highlight that we showed you earlier this morning. So I'll just pick it up from here. Guys, third quarter. This was some ball movement here and the chargers. This is not the highlight that we intended to run there won't be sound here guys in the control them just talk you through this here in the fourth quarter. This was Philip rivers engineering comeback giving the ball to Justin Jackson added. Northwestern. New had pounded in four score. That would make it twenty eight to twenty one Patrick minds that have a chance here three and a half minutes can they possess the football able to run the clock out. No, they're not down. He goes he is sacked on the play. And so the chargers would get the football back. And then they would start getting Travis Benjamin involved in the game right around here. Louis was huge on this drive, including this next play. You'll see which was a fourth down. This was basically the ballgame. Yeah. This is this is a good as it gets when you're executing against Cup of two men. The Philip rivers had that ball three quarters of the way to Travis Benjamin before Travis even got out of the break. And that was absolutely incredible throwing cats in a computer. And so that would set them up down here in the red zone. Philip rivers won the shot that he takes it ahead here and inexplicably. No flag is thrown. This is clearly helmet to help. On a quarterback who's going to the ground. This has been a penalty all year long in this case. They don't throw the flag. That's third-down play. Here's this was probably an offensive pass interference. But instead the makeup call goes the other direction a lot of frustration with the way this game officiated by a lot of different people. Bobby you have thought well, you see the push off right there. Obviously defensive back trying to do the best kid. I don't think there's any the ocean can do a lot of is called this game. Gonna sir. The best that would set that up there. A touchdown throw to Mike Williams who would make three touchdowns in the ball game. And then the two point conversion again the incredibly courageous decision by Anthony lane. He says we're not waiting inside than you win. And so to me, it was a no brainer. Perhaps not one way or another. This is the play dialup and boy it ever worked. Mike Williams could not possibly have been more open wide open in the back of the end zone with four seconds to play. That was all she wrote the charges go on the road and pull off a remarkable win in Kansas City twenty nine to twenty eight. And so as we sort of regroup here at the desk. How would you put into words the courage that it takes or take me behind the decision that was made there by Lynn to go for the two in the wind. A lot of times. Look, this is just about having a feel for which football team is able to do and what the matchups are. And when you have Mike Williams who all night long. You saw he looked like a man amongst boys as far as how he was beating defensive backs to the punch and beating them to the ball, especially in the Verde area. Especially when the when the field is shorten and condense. And it's really just athlete against athlete. That's when you you can trust you're wide receiver. And when you have Philip rivers, you're going to trust that he's going to put it where it needs to be put in on top of it at the end of the game to really want to take the chance of Patrick Mahomes, going into overtime and him all of a sudden hitting tyreek something over the top in the game's over. That's not what you want to do for Anthony win. That's where I'm looking at is. I'm not giving Patrick Mahomes the ball back it putting my defense back there on the field..

"But I am I can jump in on the second part. If that's. Go for it. I don't want to rain on your parade here. It's your show for it. But he he addressed you not me six and seven definitely two thousand nine. I think was close to they went thirteen three that year that feeling about that team. But that's just me. Well, just a good feeling about it. They had a really good record. I, you know, I don't think this team has as good of a supporting cast as those teams did. But this is definitely as close as I've gotten to either of those years for sure, yeah. I'd agree with that. I'm getting there. I'm still working on having that confidence. But it's a different feeling going into every Sunday with. I mean, I thought in all candor I thought they lose in Pittsburgh. I think we both they'd lose in Pittsburgh. Oh, yeah. No, definitely. Yeah. I predicted that most chargers fans probably thought they would lose in Pittsburgh, but on a week to week basis. This is confident as I've been in them since two thousand six and two thousand seven where you just feel like they're gonna find a way to get it done. All right. Well, let's go ahead and talk about the game. Go ahead and give me your first storyline. So my first storyline. And I'm sure you've got this in yours somewhere is the chargers. Make history with a winning Pittsburgh. This was a huge win on many levels. Obviously charter fans everywhere or thumping their chests saying we have arrived because this is the statement game. They've been waiting for. I thought Seattle was a statement game. I think this is a statement game. So it's big on that level. But then you start getting into the numbers of how hard it is to win. And pittsburgh. The chargers were the first team ever to beat the Steelers at home. So first busying team ever to beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh after trailing by fourteen or more points at the half. The Steelers were two hundred twenty zero and one when leading by fourteen or more points at halftime at home in franchise history. And the chargers beat them last night. That's pretty damn impressive. They were also the first visiting team ever to beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh after trailing by at least, sixteen points at any point in the game. The Steelers were hundred seventy four and one believe heading into last night's game. When they've trailed by led by sixteen or more points at home at any point in the game. And the final stat the charters are the first team in the history of Heinz field to beat the Steelers in primetime. This had been eight no in primetime games at Heinz field. Go into that game before the charges beat them. So you put all that together. And what you have you had the chargers make earning a historical victory on the road against a surefire playoff team likely division winner a team that they've always struggled with in a venue where they always struggled, and they did it in pre and fatty fashion the second half..

"It's a shame it's like they don't even let us charter supporters get get to like august i talked about it with with will brinson on his his podcast pick six pod people should check that out and like never there's kind of this chargers contingent he's one of them i'm one of them for sure west is in in the mix and it's like they don't even let us get to august with that like imaginary ideal chargers team in our head they always start chopping it down even more than who's football football gods yeah because it's like no matter what happens now with the chargers you always be i'll be comparing it to the ideal hunter henry lead chargers team in my head that could happen because i thought how henry i was expecting him to be one of the top three or four ends and league that's up as as crushing this is if they are actually good team they will overcome this that's true that's fair so you can't tamp down expectations the patriots the patriots juliet allman they figure it it out henry just happened to be kind of like the the guy i was most excited about rising thought he was going to be kind of their most dominant receiver as chargers booster did you consider the notion which i did not when i wrote this article it just popped into my head that mike williams the guy drafted in the first round could be like moved into like a move tight end rule receiving data but make sense he's got the size for it for sure and they've got three good receivers ahead of him on the short another by the way a seal injury was eagles linebacker paul warrilow who also suffered a torn acl this week and it does it is a reminder it's a sobering reminder and it sucks that these are some of the best you know athletes in the in the country.
