"They won a national championship. And then you'd like was an mvp in the all game and he's by the best athlete we've ever like grown up playing with so. Tell me about your friend. Yeah yeah. I just recently lost a very dear friend who i grew up with. And he's forty one in knee suffered a stroke and it just took him out just brain took him out as well but i just i just got back from his memorial service. We play soccer together growing up and he was just like the best athletes. even he was like five ten in high school he could dunk stick thin but he is just like debut. Oh man that's the best athlete we got and he went to bowdoin. I went to wesleyan. these are small. Liberal arts schools started playing soccer at bowdoin and the coach. There was just had a good. I like your good and started connecting him with the us l. Which is like below the she started playing for the cape cod crusaders in college in the summer and played three seasons with them and won national championships in a long story short from like bowdoin college that doesn't produce professional athletes. My neighborhood my high school doesn't produce professional athletes. But david justice milked every ounce of his talent and then he went and played in ireland and then he had several cups of coffee in the rapids for a minute. Fc dallas for a minute and then he landed at the richmond kickers which is a right below mls and became like a fan favorite scored. All these goals became their head coach and it was just he. And i grew up bonding over comedy and soccer. He was the funniest dude and we would job together. We would breakdown simpsons episodes like he was what i started doing standup. I kept it secret for six months. Dave was the first guy had told he came to show. And so i think we really were fascinated with how far the other was taking the career. He went farther and soccer than i ever thought. I went farther and comedy than the ever thought. So we had this really cool pride for one another. And it's just it's a really cool thing when a buddy of yours growing up makes it pro. You feel like better out of lluhvision we. Yeah we we did it. The neighborhood and he passed away. And it's very sad. And i said his memorial. I was out on the richmond kickers field and all these players are there. I spoke and i'm looking at the stands and i was like you guys do with contracts and agents and the business of sports but i just want to tell you how cool it is for me to see my boy here signing autographs and alcohol is to come to the game and see kids lined up and mike my friend signing his own jersey and it was the dream achieved so forty one years really really well lived was a hell of a guy and that was it was cool to to see that first name. What's his full name. David bulow b. u. l. o. w. And he actually has a gofundme if you put his name and gofundme. These families got three little kids and it's just like a tragedy it was like the strongest most in shape guy. I know his brain just attacked itself and he was he was done. So it's literally tragedy but it was trying to remember how hard i laughed with that dude as i said at his eulogy if i if you saw me cry and he'd go Their they're allowed. Give me a kiss and then fake headbutt me like a soccer who again and i would laugh because that's how we related. I mean it just shows you just the stories of each kid like the each person that you see when you see donovan mitchell out on the court when you see a michael porter. Jr. it's not just him. it's his family. It's his friends. Likes neighbor'll those those guys that you see out on the court in the women you see out on in the wnba whatever. They were the best athlete their school their friends their town has ever seen and so they have a whole thing of people rooting for them to go forward out in this thing and you do too. I mean and we do too. There's so many people out there reach out to us and be like i saw you guys on this and you guys manage. You went to elementary school with. Who can't believe your career careers like totally totally tote and so realizes that again. I think that is the aspirational part of sports. That like we play so much of our hopes and dreams in people. We don't know when kobe died. I couldn't believe how it affected me emotionally. I'm like i'm not even the biggest lakers fan right but it just affected me. I broke down. I was like this affecting me in such a way. That like imagine if you knew this guy. Imagine if he was the guy who broke down simpsons episodes of he was the guy you laughed with and did this stuff so you know so sorry for years lost but it sounds like you guys really had a wonderful. We really useful many four decades together french. And thanks for letting me talk about. It was a delightful guy just like in high school. We had a term called head. Boy very antiquated sounds like harry potter thing. But they d announcements and david was head boy and like now looking back. It was like yeah. This is the best we got if you had to represent our neighborhood. Put david upfront. That he's representative. So this is what you should think about. When you think of where we're from his shared a very funny thing this quick. But like i guess he would always say to players after practices and stuff. It was like as a running gag. It'd be like hey great job out there today. Six out of ten that's hilarious. That is what it is but it is the heart of someone who will always wanna do better will right who loves you but at the same time. It's what would shack donovan mitchell he was. He was shacking. "Invasion. Like it's a serious all. Because that i mean he was taking him out at the mall. But that's scary like you're just at the mall. Turn of bison the nice and someone like unfolds way terrifying. Do you ever look and see if people follow you places now or follow you home now now. I need to take a different route occasionally. I mean i to. I've heard that. But i don't do it but i've heard it's a really smart two days a week. Switch it up just in case you have someone talking you. If i do start is remember after. I missed my turn to switch it up. Switch it up today. I guess. I won't story totally just i bring it up as awareness to every once in a while. Give yourself a look in the mirror. Look around sixty when following the same car behind you. what do you keep your head in the swivel. Yes keep your head on. Well i do but every day gets to be tough. Let's be realistic here. When i leave work. I'm always looking around usually eddie behind me fall you all. That's the news. Thank you guys. Bobby's story story by jeff bezos. Bazo the amazon guy. He will soon be the owner of a five hundred million dollar super yacht that he purchased two years ago. It in by done. He bought it and had them build it through almost done with construction. The yacht will be four hundred seventy feet. Long have several decks will come with its own support yacht meaning. He has a yacht for his yacht. Well in other words the hot has a yacht. I said that's crazy. We were watching the final episode of suspension last night of season. Two in there in a yacht. And i like i. I've only ever been on a boat. Someone like that for breaking bobby bones. It was a fishing boat and vomited for two days house. Like dang. do. I even want to go on a boat because it looks fun. 'cause they're in this big boat and i don't know anyone who has about like they were on the show but i never been in a boat like that and i wonder if i would vomit in a nice boat just like i did on the fishing boat. Well you do get seasick still. Because i've been on a huge huge boat. Like a long time ago my family went on a cruise when i was a kid and we all had to either of those bracelets and take like the dramamine and yeah i mean you can still get motion sickness. You're super sensitive to that. I think you probably don't do boats a boat on iraq's listen i grew up fisher whole live as great right. You would think a big bowl. You don't really doesn't rock as much. But it's i guess it's still you're still up and down why should talk talk to katherine in quebec. Catherine tell me what happened with your friend well. My finger on attended day and the wall. The guy came over and they had a good time and they're just talking and he's like well. I have to go to the bathroom so she goes in the bathroom and whatever she comes back but when he was in the bathroom he opened the window halfway to like for later on so he goes back in and she's asleep at night he's gone and Well he opened the window and he went into her house to go feel stuff and She had to call the cops and he got arrested. Oh my goodness well. First of all glad he just stole stuff Yeah yeah. I thought it could get worse. Yummy me too. But what he's supposed to do looks like a nice guy tender right who's thinking he's going to open your window and come rob you me here and so if so if you have a stranger from tender over to your house once they leave do a check goes you go look at all the windows or maybe don't have at your house right away. I don't know. I don't know your work but i'm sure the guys charming channel. Look like early brad pitt. Probably that's what you're imagine. I was watching these new stories about. We talked about a little bit. Ben affleck and chandler matthew perry How do we get on that dating app. And then people wouldn't believe it's them stay with send them videos we like. Hey it's really wide you. We talked about it on the show but they're both doing it in more celebrities in doing it was funny. It's funny it's kind of weird people to call them out it is. They shouldn't be doing that. Because i thought that that spat. That's a special site where people were cool to be yes. I guess not cool for these instagram people. To be like perry. But it's the risk you take if you're a public figure and you're sending someone video. That is the risk you take not cool but not illegal but also. I just feel bad for these guys. Think they're on these apps. Having to come on we think they can just walk down the street and go. I'll have one of those two camping. Because i still think i don't know i don't know but the stories are weird. I hope this guy that the caller called about g go back and do we leave like a bad tinder review katherine. How did that work out at the end. Did she ever see him again did she. Leave him a bad review no she. She never saw him again but like freaked out like she deleted the ad than she likes. I'll meet someone one day but like this is how i would. I'd be scared because he always knows where she lives in that she had to to jail because of her. You know when. I was robbed a physically like jumped a couple times and robbed but when i was my house was robbed. We knew who it was. And i was like okay officer. I don't want to put them in jail. Because i know they who i am. It's a whole thing goes. That almost never happens. He's like they almost never go back for allegation. It's not the mob really. Yeah because if they do it they're going to get caught again in the last thing they want to get caught again. God the same feeling. But i was like sarge. So what happens if i if i testify and they go to jail. They're gonna come get me afterwards. He's like almost never happens. Okay so that's where. My brain always goes. They're going to retaliate them. Thank you for the call. Really appreciate your listening. Thank you thank you guys for. They show in the morning you guys because they quite great. Thank you very much you make. Our museum is all right. Thank you catherine. April and alabama april. How are you. Hey bobby bones. I'm good how are you doing. Good what can i do for you. I have a question to. I've been seeing the commercial about the breaking bobby bones show and i would like to know a little bit more about it. You're seeing the commercial. I haven't seen at one time. Well not really do marshall but they just been talking about on american adults. I really wanted to. They were talking about on american. What's wow like. Who missing this was ryan. Seacrest talking about it. I know commercial breaks and they were just. It was a national geographic channel. And it would join.

"I mean so number one. You have to remember when you're watching this that. The entire show is produced by his production company. So this is obviously what he thought he thought would make him look good and number two what he wanted to people to see about his struggles and it is so twisted. If you actually start to think about the fact that he is one of the richest celebrities in the entire world and yet he can't do a goddamn thing in one of his businesses like i am shocked by the fact that he can't make a hamburger and he thought this was good pr. I guess. I haven't finished the whole series but like midway through. Nothing seems to be going. Well he lives in a house that looks like he was on the real housewives new jersey like i want like one of those houses that like you know you look rich in and there's like fountains and shit i wanna room. That's like a study that has books on the show. It's like this enormous. Like queen of versailles like weird house. It's insane. it's insane that it's being released. In twenty twenty one a assists white straight male like with five failed businesses is like getting airtime like what and here. We are talking about it. I would have to say you might be part of the problem. I might you know what. I didn't think i had something to talk about. But this reminds me okay. Cancel mark wahlberg cancelled. Now i feel bad now. I don't know make your own choices about mark wahlberg but i just can't forget. His like very problematic past. Hollywood is so fun never forgiven. Mel gibson wasn't in like daddy daycare. Part five or something like recently and he made the passion of the side note. He's also working on a sequel. Anyway what's this equal any. I'm the ju- telling the christian but it's the resurrection hate to register you. He came out. Yeah three days later. The movie takes place three days later. I can imagine like the log line for this movie like three days later anyway. Okay so let's cancel mark wahlberg. I guess you yes made me feel better about that but justice for every other sist white male celebrities getting okay. This week a bunch of riot women have started releasing like dating videos where they wanna ben affleck but also chandler matthew perry really a girl yes so basically people on tiktok or on. Instagram are starting to release videos. That celebrities sent them all interacting with on dating website. So it's sort of like the evolution of screen shots of dm's with celebrities. That are sexier sketchy yet. Yeah it's an invasion of privacy. Especially with the ben affleck won because like he didn't do anything and neither did matthew. Perry in the creepiest part was like their friend was filming it to the side so they were having zoom hall or like facetime on her laptop and it's just so gross come on. Yeah the crazy thing about ben affleck and then i feel like this is only. We're only talking about celebrities that have nothing to do with the beauty industry. But the crazy thing about ben affleck is how the paparazzi are obsessed with him. Have you seen those pictures of. When he was dating anna arm they were literally taking a walk and there were seven paparazzi. All just like focusing their cameras on them either. He's in cahoots with the paparazzi. Or just ben affleck. Pictures are worth a lot of money. He's like iraq. I guess..

So yeah you know. I could see she omega thompson gora funny like she do that whole thing. Like my god. You're like my favorite comedian. Rosie perez talk like that. She has an accent. I'm still jenny from the block. By like i think could love you now. She'd be like oh you speak spanish so that would be really by a chartered. Her bus one time. I know yeah i remember. "Saying just that versus about the last couples. Reagan trying to go to the middle east to straighten things. Don't they kill the main character at the end of the song. No they burn him in effigy effigy. What does that mean. That means they you see it all the time in protest so like they back then they would have a paper mouche reagan and they'd set him on fire so an effigy is like a likeness. Okay someone or something gotcha. and so. that's that's what i thought it was. And then i was reading the Journey through the past book nigel williamson and he suggests. The whole thing is about reagan. And i'm like well. Reagan had a wife. Reagan took a. Why mommy mommy well now nancy nancy. Maybe we shouldn't consummate this so well. Now neil that's not entirely about me. Because i did take a wife neil. Yeah and as i thought johnny carson ask those people thought it was a pro reagan song but i take this as like a critical of reagan's middle east policy. It feels critical. But fucking neil typical. Neal's fashion doesn't you can't big. You're what the fuck is. The theme of the song is right. It definitely it definitely has of feel of politics though hundred percent. It's about you know us meddling in the middle east. Yeah pretty much. Then because we get on iran for backing terrorist groups. Do we do the same thing and thankfully we learned our lesson and we don't do that anymore. Right right you're right. I don't how did it change. And we rambo in the disco to me is they just went in and started killing civilians. I mean you does grow. I've never seen any real. I've only ever seen first blood. It's a great fucking. I hear all the rest are kinda shitty thing we keep quoting from. I i and it's the best of the best scene in cinema history where a rambo is hanging on cliff. And there's like a fucking thousand foot drop below him into some pine trees and they're up in the helicopter shooting at him and so he decides okay. I'm gonna launch backwards. I'm gonna just actually like free. Dives three dumps into the trees. And if you listen if you like watch what. He's going through the trees fucking smashing through all the branches. Also i don't know how they filmed that they must have dropped. It was great scenes. A great action. It's great it's great dude not contesting that. But what's hilarious is if you listen. He's going through the trees you here and then like he hit some brands like really yard and he goes and dude. I had that on like a repeat of it that it's the it's the polly falling in the snow. And i i was such a huge movie and it was an rambo. Now you know it's not just a character. Now it's it's almost like it's a verb descript or something and by the way rescue wrong. That's not the best seen in cinematic history. It's not even the best scene of someone falling down a tree. It's only the third best. The second best is when leo falls down a bunch of trees in The fucking bear movie When he goes off a horse and the horse falls off to. What is it the one where he arrives the revenue reverence and then the best one where he finally won an oscar. Yeah that's what it should be because once it was what's the other dudes name. The bad guy. That movie tom hardy. He nails females the western pennsylvania accent in that. Yeah that is so fucking western pennsylvania. Ohio he totally nails it. Yeah he's good. Yeah but the best that number one scene of an actor or of character falling down a tree is in almost heroes of chris farley. See maybe you haven't seen the baby. His most underrated him in fucking chandler matthew. Perry and eugene levy's in it. He plays like like a tribal chief. Nice in great. Yeah i don't think you can make that movie today. But it was parts. No but it's so fucking funny now anyway. So that's my take on mideast vacation. You know living in. He knew you sound right on. I mean and that's it's kinda cool writing louis. So i think it's interesting each versus its own separate. Yeah but then. I could see the whole thing about reagan over there you know. Because that's what you think. Neil starting to starting now at this point to get critical of him. Yeah okay so maybe it's almost like so in a way he is stepping out of a lotta that shit As far as his support. I think he played that up a lot more to get in with the conservative country crowd. Yeah yeah but i think and i think this one. This one is especially the next song. He's just really kind of shining a light on the damage done you get into.

"Era songs. It is and whether you right there. I went looking for gadhafi. But i couldn't figure out like at first. I thought it was like a three part story. The first verse was about like a vigilante. I never took a wife. And i watched cop shows and you're either good. You're either evil kind of thing and remind me of bernard gets he has new bernard goetz's he was the guy in new york. Yeah who killed some teenager. Who pulled a screwdriver on them. Yes right yeah. So i got off right. Yeah yeah and then. I thought the the second verse worries like on a on air force one looking for qaddafi and then the cia tells them to fuck off. Stop sniffing that smoking gun. So i thought that was about a reporter. Okay looking for the truth about what's going on in the middle east. And then i thought the last the double verses turbo america reagan in the rambo in the. What is rambo in the disk. I don't think it was about Maybe you're saying just that versus about the last couples. Reagan trying to go to the middle east to straighten things. He's going through the trees you here and then like he hit some brands like really yard and he goes through and dude i had that on like ab repeat it that it's the it's the polly falling in the snow. And i i was such a huge movie and it was an rambo now rambos. It's not just a character now. it's it's almost like it's a verb descript or something and by the way rescue wrong. That's not the best seen in cinematic history. It's not even the best scene of someone falling down a tree. It's only the third best. The second best is when leo falls down a bunch of trees in The fucking bear movie When he goes off a horse and the horse falls off to. What is it. The one where he arrives rev the revenue reverence and then the best one where he finally won an oscar. So that's my take on mideast occasion know In he knew you sound right on. I mean and that's it's kinda cool writing louis. So i think it's interesting each versus its own separate. Yeah but then. I could see the whole thing about reagan over there. You know because that's what you think. Neil starting to starting now at this point to get critical of him. Yeah okay so maybe it's almost like so in a way he is stepping out of a lotta that shit As far as his support. I think he played that up a lot more to get in with the conservative country crowd. Yeah yeah but. I think and i think this one this one especially the next song. He's just really kind of shining a light on the damage done. Let's get into.

"The People's Choice Awards uh-huh winning podcast right now? Michael Baby to Pete we you know L.. I got really emotional last night from y'all's video when y'all were saying like we didn't win and Mike said but our girls did arly suite. That was really sweet. I know like I did the same thing to me when everything was happening. And like I kind of feel like a blocked out and then you're you're the first one that walked over to us to give us a hug. A congratulations and I was like that but like that is how we roll like we were in the exact same thing. How'd you guys one hundred or so? Yeah we're we're joined in studio now by Janet. No I'm sorry I. The one that took bad that they have the rejects on their showed. I I am sorry. Do you know what though it's so interesting because last year I remember like a to bring it up again. But we'd be Oprah and I the lady gang member at the most that I was like okay if we're if it's not going to be as it's going to be lady game. I didn't even consider Oprah Doc Act shepherd and everyone was like it's going to be lady gang and this year I was like it's going to be Janna and Mike Caitlyn so I just felt really yourself in. I'm just saying if if we got if it wasn't us it was it was it wasn't again. Yeah it was. It just felt really cool to be nominated in like friends with people but I felt like they're they're doing so well that if it's not us it's going to be them yeah. It was a comfort in that for being there with you. You guys to for US exactly. The whole experience is more fun when you're around people that you already respect and love is in have friendships with so it's not. It's not that fake like think girl or something like that anyone until experience. That much better said great job girl. I wouldn't like I was just blown away because I was standing. I was sitting waiting for Tanya so we could do red carpet stuff and I look over and Janice interviewing pink. You you ghosted. I well first of all okay. I'll try to like somehow like corner paint to go over to say hi to her. But I'm like I just met her so I couldn't be like can you mean like you know what I mean like but I was like you're getting closer to her doctor disrespected the effort because you so my face knows like pointing to myself. She's like behind like like trying to guide her and like touch senior Becker instagram and that she might go tell your wife. I'm I'm on the outside with Thailand. She was like she was like Mike. Tell your wife and I was like might make it happen. This is all up to you and then while this. This is really a theme. That happened for Becca last night. Because she did this. Exact same thing Jennifer Aniston juicy meter. No time she's walking around being like and the battalion. I need you to do it. And I'm like she was walking after her winning the icon award had like three security guards around her. I was like it's not the time so then I go into this holding room. I'm like Tanya let's go of course Tania's turned around talking to someone that she knows and Mrs going in with me so I thought she she just didn't want to come in. So I'm in the room with Jennifer. Aniston she's talking to Adam Sandler. I'm just sitting there. Lingering being so awkward this lady comes in. She's like there's no photos or videos Azazel bottom like hey hey And she goes but if you want if you want to get a photo with her I didn't see it and I was like okay. I got the TATION. I'M GONNA walk out the out the route so it was like this is it. I look over. Jennifer walks over. Starts talking to Adam Sandler and this other man. I'm like that is not the the the moment for me. Well then Tanya on yeah I guess it was like I'm going back to my seat so the lady came in it was like okay. You'll have to go back to your seats. And she's like sorry. She ruined it for you to tell them those leaving so they didn't like mono be like where to go. Well here's the deal though. You should have brought me. 'cause I know Adam so I could have been said hi to Adam and then then like Oh and then he had to that. Entity's us again so next time. Wingmen me Kate I. I don't know how John you know very vocal cool and would like go up to anyone. In for some reason Jennifer Aniston. She just she didn't perform for me like she knows performs following her into like like these awkward situation. You're about to WANNA reward. I'm like Becker not GONNA go up. Bum Rush her while she's like doing press and then I couldn't even get into the holding pen because they were like. Where's your your badge and I was like? Oh my bad just like in my trailer. Which is I? Don't even know where right this point. I'm just GonNa sit here and wait for them is Janus usually the best person to have as the women situations because she'll through anybody on the bus she'll be like Hey Jan.. My friend really wants to meet you. I'm so sorry community with us. She doesn't know how to play the game. But can you just appease my friend and you're like for the kid move the Red Janika keep. Please come say hi to my friend. But like she is mortified mortified minus. I did have my publicist crashes publicists and I asked if they could meet them but they said no even actually i. I think you're interviewing somebody and I saw the interaction when Nicole went to their publicists taller guy and I saw you Nicole. Kind of anchoring our way or point our way the publicist looks down like towards us. He's just like stays on them to smoke. Fix It like you wanted them to come interview with you know. I just literally wanted to meet them. They just wanted to say hi so actually last year we were sitting at the table behind them. Do you remember we were behind like Courtney and somebody else the whole fam. Yeah yeah and I don't know what I was on. I was like feeling Mojo. Lock it up to them and I was like. Hey Chris Kris Jenner. Houston No. That's the thing I'm like you're on the fricking morning show with Brian. I had a really connect the dots for and then I was like okay. I'm just going to go back to this. She was so sweet and lovely. But I literally was just like like went in a lot of Mo- joan I left feeling like Oh shoot this multiple times. I made eye contact with people and said Oh my God as I made eye contact and so then they were like hold their security team close. Yeah Yeah I'm just not great in those situations so I'm fine next time I'm taking you don't care if he throws me under the bus because like I'll be like it could be. It would be make a wish to meet you. Yeah and either friends characters like the main six and I think I would really have a mom chandler I call them Chandler Matthew Perry he was was at. The what's it called the bumble discontinued. Because it's like I. I met one person on there and he didn't want to like actually date me bobby bones. Yeah well that person. Whoever it is it didn't want to date? You know it was. I just don't think he wanted to date one person in particular like I think he liked having his options open group that I always talk about. Oh Yeah that was actually pretty fun. Was it something thing borrowed. No no that one I met in real life. Yeah we're just running down the list. I know God if I like wrote down all of them unless five years it would be pretty linked. How would you consider dating though one day? Michael That is a day rocker bomber weekdays. How did you meet twitter? Order twitter stories like well Sarah Hyland s grant very similar. Actually more hello hello you slid into. DM I didn't he did. He slid into mine after I follow them. She thought I was half black. I did don't he looks half black. A little bit has features more profile picture than DEF- did definitely why I accepted it though. Hello Chronology Chronology criminal. I was thirty. I was eating Mac and cheese. I mean like true very true so you were falling Anna Hannah favoring things and then I don't see it and they followed him eating maxine and then I followed him and then he wants seconds second. Excuse the story I was like no because I was in my hat. How some Baltimore? The time one of my buddies I was living with me. It was the off season and we were about to watch a movie on a rainy evening in Baltimore and I was like Holy Janika just called me back and then became aimed at teenage girls is like what are we right. And we're about to watch movies so we're like all right. We can't say anything right now Suzanne. Let's watch this movie. And then we'll talk about afterwards. Get a whole draft together auditor. And we'll be okay twenty minutes into the movie I was like I gotTa talk to her. So I saw something Super Suave as thanks for the follow but this is dropping the handkerchief and Michael just picked it up. That's what I like to call Hook game sinker and it's fast. It was like you know it's like hey I like you talk on the phone okay. facetime I randomly facetime than like a few days. Afterwards you gave number. "Way to go on that way and then there's princes house just right there it's not hidden it's not really no and it looks like the outside of a cosco it's I've seen pictures that we think that's a perfect yeah definite is it's all cinder block and it happens to be white it looks like cinder block and you go through these gates in I'm sure that there was amped up security when he lived there but you go through these gates and you just pull around back walking in and it's all very modern and when you walk in through the doors there's a gigantic picture of princes eyes staring at you and I guess he had that made because he always wanted his guest to know he was watching and then right to your right there is the elevator where he died what is with the iconic artists that are just bizarre and I'm still offended by Jared statement that he was overrated I think I think what happened to me yeah I think I contemplated to juror no less like you in the hall of fame but that it out but there's hall of Famers to me that are over rated in sports and all that they are hall of fame quality but I think when you start you take instructor repeat back sect it is not it is like really but he also again one of the big criteria for hall of fame is how you involve music and he did he was pop but he was a really good rock guitar player and played other instruments and the writing that he did for other people and the amount of hits that they had a how big they were we're huge I mean and putting together other bands that mind boggling almost to me yeah I know his extensive category or his extensive library until we went to go to his house is now is one hundred percent museum and you go through and I thought he did that he did that it was a never ending the whole time and his number one hits through the roof yes the only thing I didn't like about him is if you saw on the concert one time when one year he played a montage of all is it for about ten minutes and everything else you didn't know it was yeah toward the end I did I don't care for any did he I could be wrong I had it in do any research on this is not always my feel I'm never been like I can see a town about a lot is in the last twenty years is likely that any hits twenty years have although maybe if you don't say like you big big big than not but he didn't I don't think he necessary was out there right may I wanted did write for other artists I got you specially in the eighties and early nineties okay like that manic Monday the bangles and stuff like that I know it's hard to maintain a good time a big career for a long time I Michael Jackson after the eighty so Mike he tried he tried or some of the nineteen okay then you have that one but in the stuff also hurt not together but I mean yeah all heard the people I don't support this Michael Jackson yeah and I think they'll be a time for ed Sheeran when it stops but ed Sheeran is again I think he will be considered iconic that his killer right now I don't know about princess I would have to do a lot of research on that to figure out what he did in the last twenty years twenty years would be well I don't think too much in the last twenty but that doesn't mean he's over rated because he was humongous before it doesn't mean he was trying to it's just at the time if you know if you were living in the time a prince like right now and it was ed Sheeran was prince and he was doing the same stuff I think we would say he's unbelievably huge you know and I stand by that what I said to you in the beginning about the same could be said for the artists and rappers that we love back and they were great they were huge they did other things for other albums and other artists were they done last twenty years nothing he did have a loss and that's not right beats headphones image okay the majority of them but that's not museum in M. suppose stuff out good though this was a big hit for Lee Snoop Dogg so he's doing drugs was more house and into what about right except him performing still part of yeah but most people are like but he wrote this it's what do they perform we go to the concert like well I hope he tells all stuff he's written know what it is I don't think like that salad rated I mean the fact that if you want to become a writer for other artists because he has a vision of how it could be that is huge town here Ryan prince right now on your phone yeah like Ryan Tedder right doesn't he write a bunch of yeah Ryan Tedder he's such a great artist what is the name please and may even you know but you don't go to concerts like okay there they have the space we have like three big hits and you're like nobody's written a bunch but as I don't think that goes with this part I do for most people they just consume the music I don't think it's appreciated as much as maybe it is no you're not the actual stream extreme talent at even more so in some cases to be honest with you I consider all of it and have you seen his fashion sense I mean come on there are a couple of his well more than just a couple but a lot of his outfits that he wore onstage always high heel boots and all pretty much all the lower or velvet bizarre love it one thing I that I do not like prince and I that is been rumored and apparently true is that he was an excellent basketball player yeah he's a small is all five with three and they were shot down he was a school and everybody and yet his own basketball court and you know he pretty much was nocturnal he would only it would only be awake and living his life when everybody else was sleeping and he would hire people like his personal chef just things that we learned along the way who would be on call twenty four hours a day seven days a week and if he wanted a pot roast at four thirty five in the morning you better have it you got that right yeah yep all the ingredients on hand just trying to read his mind of what it is that he and it was pretty our full I know all right other Hollywood news Jennifer Aniston was on Allen yesterday was talking about a friends reunion because if you are a fan of friends everybody wants the reunion but this is what Jennifer Aniston had to say about the reunion is there going to be a reunion of friends reunion like of the a reboot of the show sure no what what what do you do you have some secret information that there's wasn't we would love for there to be something but we don't know what that something is so we're just trying we're really what we're working on some working on some things up all right don't know I think there's a problem with at least one of the actors with drugs and issues like that that there's no way still to this day so I've heard that he's still alive though so they can put an episode Chandler Matthew Perry and he doesn't have any sense that I have done well but yeah and then wrapping up Hollywood news Arnold Schwarzenegger I was talking with Jimmy Kimmel and talked about tricking his body this is our towards neger checking his body Sylvester Stallone into doing really bad movies so they came to me with this other movie I've got the what was called the stopper.

"Stephen choose pom-pom but is a keep keep going man. This is better than anything. I have used those. Let's hear it all right. Isaac who who did the theme song of friends rembrandt's oh my you. Are you a complete elitist. Okay so let me tell you my friends thing is that i will say. I don't think on any objective level friends is a good show. I have seen evidently no one does given our prep materials real. I have seen every episode of friends some of them multiple times. It is an extra be linked though to being being in my twenties and the end of college and moving to new york city and the relationship i was in then and you know it is so tight into that time in my life that yeah i remember the show extremely well but i also have actually kind of like never revisited it since because it just is of that moment like my distinctive friends memory he is going to visit my then girlfriend's parents in koala lem poor and get across the international dateline and it was winter in the states and it's of course course tropical over there and it's humid and you can't you can't think because it's a new you know the time difference is so big and so in the forty eight hours it would would take to recover from that we would watch bootleg d._v._d.'s of friends on her dad's t._v. You know so it's like it's always it's connected to those kinds of memories for me and so i remember the show show. I remember many specific moments of it very very well but it's always tied into me like who i was when i was watching it was a very different person was twenty five years ago. Yeah i mean i think think so many things julia that we can kind of toy with in a segment like this one obviously is each of our individual associations with the show but also it's a period i mean it is really captures. A period in american life no less than all in the family does a certain you know tone an aura of the nineteen seventies via archie bunker. It's these friends six friends in improbably huge you know apartments in new york city that has everyone always points out obligatorily when they talk about a write about the show that could never have worded on on their salaries. It's this extremely panacea ideal of new york city in the nineties but contemporary to the nineties i mean there was <hes> certainly compared to what's come since there was <music> soup feeling of a certain you know i don't know innocence and <hes> and a rediscovery of new york city as a kind of playground for the at least white <hes> rich people but also it's gotta be a segment on some level about the end of broadcasting i mean the numbers are incredible. Twenty million viewers had as many as twenty five million <hes> <hes> into its eighth season. Its final episode. I think got close to fifty three million viewers. I mean you're numbers that i don't think we could ever see repeated again. Is that testimony to the greatness of the show or something sort of generic and broad about it or both. I mean the thing that's so interesting to me about this and you know so our occasion for taking my friends. It's the twenty any fifth anniversary of it this year. It came onto netflix for years ago. In the great streaming wars that are commencing this fall warner media has rested did the rights back from netflix and it will go off of netflixing a believe twenty twenty the companies that owned the show are tired of propping netflix his ability to drive its own subscriptions with friends taking it back as they launched their own streaming service and the reason that matters is that friends is a hit it is a huge current hit in twenty nineteen and now based on everything we know about its cultural relevance about who's watching it out you know it it's various distribution platforms right now as many people watch it as has watch episodes of new shows that are considered relative successes just because the total number that any given show have diminished so much as we've moved away from broadcast and the thing that i find poignant and fascinating about that is that there still is a big audience for the kind of blend quote unquote <unk> universality that friends represented right. There's this idea of like. It's just people hanging out. Does it matter that they have no friends of color that chandler is deeply deeply uncomfortable with homosexuality in a way that sucks <hes> that the economics of it are unrealistic. It's just people hanging out making jokes being kind of enjoyable <hes> and eventually coupling often various dosing does that are more responsible and you know people wouldn't make this kind of show now however ever it seems like there is an audience for this kind of show now and but if you were to just make a show like this and put it out now on network network television it probably wouldn't find an audience because that's not where people go to discover shows online and if you put it on a streamer it's unclear that it would become as addictive snack because because this that sense of centrality in discovery and kind of the megaphone that you could put on a primetime release in the nineties is harder to do now so it's its not unclear to me that people shouldn't just be trying to make huge broadcast hit still those shows still do numbers and everyone's trying to make a prestige ten episode lodge forty-nine nine type of thing which however much we laud it. There's just no world everwhere show like that has the economic juggernaut success of friends and sort the funny that people aren't trying harder to make new friends as i more or less agree with everything you say but i don't think you could make new friends. I think people want to eternal journal sunshine their minds back to not only before trump but before <hes> the oh eight financial crisis they they literally just wanna be transported back into into the past before for these experiences happen to us collectively and i think any new show now is has got to reflect back at some level the trauma the collective active trauma that the culture has gone through or else. It's just not gonna find any any traction. I mean my feeling about friends was always you know there was the people commented at the time so it was was preceded by seinfeld seinfeld appeared several years became popular a few years or several years before friends was generated and seinfeld always felt as though it was funny. The thing about seinfeld i always found just fascinating was how clearly it originated in the actual experiences of comedians and comedian media adjacent people living on the actual upper west side of an actual manhattan. There was larry david and jerry seinfeld had lived something that went into to the you know the germ that flowered is this ridiculous sitcom about nothing so underneath. It's nothing is you tell was a specific biographical experience of people who had stayed in new york during the period when people fled it. That was another aspect to it had shared some d._n._a. With the woody allen of the any hall like the people who wanted to go who are ready to go down with the ship of manhattan if they had to because there is just nowhere else in the world to go but at the same time it had been expunged somewhat someone considerably actually of its jewishness right so larry david who's jewish george costanza who's supposed italian he becomes ethnic and so friends friends always struck me as seinfeld but radically less jewish like like it. Was you know it just it took place except for ross right but i mean is i mean the show was completely contemporary with the advent of giuliani's new york you know which the city was turned into basically you know suburb suburb of the walt disney corporation and so two to someone like me and my generation like it was just gonna come off as just incredibly authentic that said it's for for what it is a delivery delivery system of it was so flawlessly sleekly designed and then you couldn't help admire it. A minute was just you know their reliance from the show. I still remember member to this day. I mean it's you know i could lose myself. In an episode of friends. Now is it goes. Just conclude very quickly by saying. Is you know as a parent you think the virus the the beatles just lives in the atmosphere and it's going to get into my kids somewhere between the ages of zero and eight and they'll be obsessed with the beatles and i turned out to be fricken wrong about this. It was the virus in the air that got into them was friend. All of them watch it. It is like you know talmudic to them. I mean they've memorized virtually the whole thing. It's just incredible to see. I mean that's really wild because yeah i mean last year. When i was teaching at the new school. My students all watch friends which i thought was totally bizarre because they weren't alive when the show started but we're super into it i mean i think there's a few things going on there. Is that kind of return to this. You know giuliani juliani ish giuliani version of innocence of and more innocent time which we should say when friends was on it was critiqued for that. This isn't like a critique that comes with its its whiteness was criticized than its vision of new york was criticized then you know our culture was wrestling with it back then along the similar lines but as its head this long afterlife on on netflix where you can just sorta call it up and put it in the background. You know there's something comforting. I think to a lot of people about it. I will also say because. I don't think they get enough credit. The six actors that they assembled for this show worked as an amazing ensemble together all six of them in any configuration of two or actually any configuration any number of them had great comic chemistry together. They all give like very clear performances of there types of people like to pick on chandler matthew perry and it's understandable because the characters loathsome but if you think about it for a second it is not easy to just emphasize a to be lever and have that be funny like that's not a punchline. Do you know what i mean could be talking more about this show. That's not an easy thing to do. <hes> jennifer aniston in his willow talks about in her great piece about it playing the kind of <hes> a jap stereotype who slowly becomes worldly is really good like all six of them actually the r r really give finely tuned performances on that show which i think is actually like part of what's really fun about it. You know i think the other thing that has happened to television region since then beyond the you know the niche stuff and the the explosion of the market and streaming is serialisation and one of the things about friends that stands out when you watch watch it now is that if they made that show today at some point the characters would realize that they're terrible friends to one another that in a show with six characters others where you have to have conflict the conflicts going to happen between the six of them right and that they have routinely over the course of the season's been horrible people to one another other and if you look at a show like community which also has six protagonists. There's a point in its third season where the show kind of wakes up to the fact that the characters have all been bad to each other and the show can never recover from it. It spends the next three years trying to figure out how to solve that problem and it can't right so part of what makes friends work. Is that very very thing that people mock it for which is the weekly reset button that there are things that kind of continue serialize ross's crush on rachel being an obvious example but that you know there's that every week they wake up and they forgotten shitty people. They were the last week to one another so they can do it..

"It's easy, just to put a screen in front of you and your kids and be like I gotta work for an hour. Here's a screen for you guys. And that's my biggest thing I feel guilty about the I really do. Because like I said, I only have a few years left of this kind of time with my kids, where they want to spend time with me, I know when they get older, they're gonna want to go out with their friends, because, you know, it's cooler to do that kind of stuff. And so for me, I'm like, man. I want to cherish these moments as much as possible. So my challenge, always, I think everyone out there is trying to find ways to be as presidents possible and give that quality along with quantity. Like one day a week from isn't enough. Like I had my girls every other weekend, that would be so hard for me because I feel like I'm fulfilled when they're with me, right? They're not with me. Luckily, I'm gonna place now where I am okay with not having them for a week because that gives me a chance to catch up and get stuff done and travel. And then, you know, take a break, and then boom Beck back into fulltime parenting when I. Do have them, which makes me have so much more respect for people that are full-time single parents. Like that's a whole different level right there. It's a whole different game as a fulltime single-parent. How do you ever travel? How do you have time to yourself or get a break, don't? Yeah, no so hard. So a lot of respect I posted about this. Lot, my social media lottery spec for fulltime single parents, as do I and I think, you know, we'll get into this a little bit, but I think we both have such demanding travel schedules. And so it you know, how do you as a single parent with the ability to take a break even balance that? But yeah you throw. I'm a I'm a single parent by myself and trying to generate an income and provide food and clothing and shelter. And then be a present parent, like I haven't slept since my divorce. I can't imagine what it would be like, yeah, yeah, well let's, let's learn about you, Evan who's DeMarco. And, you know, hindsight's always twenty twenty so help us connect the dots of, you know, where you came from. And what led you to where you are today? Great question. So, like you I kinda grew up sports. Sports was always in my background. And, and I think going way back into time I kind of had a really interesting upbringing. So my parents, my biological parents got divorced when I was three and this was at a time in Colorado, which is where from where there was definitive custody. And then, you know you had visitation rights my biological father at the time. Didn't really like the decision of the court. And so he kidnapped me. To Florida and I was on the guy's missing children's report for about six months. So in the funny thing is three years old. I still remember this. I actually remember that sense for my mom. I remember you know, being in this room where he dropped me off at his sister's house, in just disappeared. So remember, just for hours on and, you know, crying by myself, and in that sense of longing. So finally found me brought me back and my mom remarried a great guy. But I think like your dad is didn't really know how to show love. He came from very militant type of background is, you know, as father was military. And so he was shown love and very, here's maslow's hierarchy of basic human needs. You know, you've got close. You've got a house. You've got food. What else do you want? It as much as he tried. I think he was very difficult for him. Even especially as a stepfather to really show that. And so I grew up probably like you in a sports was my outlet. I was an angry angry teenager, pissed off at the world. And but sports was always my, my background and was always my way to kind of scape the confines of the home that I just wasn't always. I didn't always feel great then. And so played football played baseball. Baseball's my big sport. You know, professional boxing, one, one fight, only because I don't like getting punched in the face. And then, you know, my dad was also a cabinet maker. And so he kind of showed me what I didn't wanna do. I had this idea that Mike, I'm gonna go sit in an office where three piece, suit and work on paperwork. And so I did that I got that job working on Wall Street and became an investment banker, and I hated every minute of it every day, I would put on that suit and tie, a little bit of my soul dia. So after the mortgage collapse and kind of Wall Street was in shambles on my acquired a sports nutrition company from a business perspective. But then it really reignited my passion to be back in the sports, and how, you know, the, the, the health and wellness world. So went back to school and started setting like all the biochemistry organic chemistry stuff that no one really likes and I fell in love with it. And so I was able to get into product development, and that's where I really found. My passion was developing products for people to help them in their health and wellness journeys. Met. A woman fell in love. Got married moved to Sacramento California and you know nothing against Sacramento. But he was that kind of relocation was the catalyst for a lot of issues in my life. And the things that all own quite candidly, as you know, I never did a good enough job of accepting that as my new home left, my family left my friends, follow this woman out to Sacramento in just kinda got stuck in a rut there. And we had a incredible girl a beautiful baby girl. And at that moment, like you I recognize that she was to steal a line from a movie everything. I never knew I always wanted movies. It was one with Chandler, Matthew Perry. Oh, like Matthew Perry and Somma Hayek, how. Oh, is that one in Vegas where they meet the only fools Russian yeah? Yeah, great. At one point. He says, everything I never knew I always. Is wanted? Yeah, it takes a little bit to process that, that's she came out. She sitting on my wife's chest, the skin-to-skin contact. And I just reached down and grabbed her hand. And she, like, she, she grabbed my finger with, with her tiny little hand squeeze him. I was shocked. This is this is what I'm supposed to do. Yeah. And like you, I think we're probably two guys that really take whatever it is that we do seriously like the future of this girl's life trajectory for life is going to be determined. What I do is apparent by what I do as a parent. Yeah. So that was. That was my calling all the work all of the business, everything aside. I really wanted to be the best parent that I could. And unfortunately that wasn't enough to keep my marriage together. But now more so than ever. It's my responsibility. My passion my drive. The thing that keeps me going, you know, when I don't think that I have any gas left in the tank is to be the best parent that I can. And I think that led us, you know, sitting at this table here in Los Angeles talking about being single parents. But that, that to me is the job that I take the most seriously in the thing that I really wanna do to, to leave a lasting impact in her life is to make sure that she knows how love she has that she has all the tools necessary that the failure of my marriage does not define her. But the relationship that she has with the two parents that brought her into this world helps to find everything that she doesn't her life. Yeah. And I'm sure we'll get into that role of as a parent. How do you separate your kid from your decisions and your ex wife's decisions from affecting? In her because I think that's really important for all the parents out there to recognize and remember to remind your kids of that, right? Because they might still be constantly searching widen at workout, but a couple of questions about your story, your dad after your biological dad. Where was he like trying to get in contact with you re we're able to see him again? Or did he go to jail or what happened? No. I haven't seen him since really. Yes. And so he kind of went off the face of the earth. Sounds like you kind of did. The franchise thing where he went around and got remarried had a kid got divorced got remarried had another kid, interestingly enough, I ran into a niece of his when I was fifteen or sixteen and she kind of told me that he was in Boise. Idaho really show I hired a private investigator found him. And then I think I was eighteen and I might have I apologize for saying this, but I might have had a couple cocktails in me got a little little gutsy, and I called him because I had his phone number from the private investigator. He picks up the phone and tell them who I am. And he hangs up on me man. And that was one of those devastating moments. Right. Because, you know, I only heard about what had happened from my side of the family. So I never really got his side. And there's always this part of me that wondered, what am I not understanding? What what's his side of the story? What really happened? Yeah. And then I had piper and I recognize that there's not a single force of on this universe. That could keep me from my daughter. And so ultimately, I kind of lost any respect I had because it doesn't matter what the story was. It doesn't matter what the catalyst is, and we're gonna talk a lot about this. I think as parents moving forward, but how do you show up for your kids every single day? And I don't care what the issue is literally. There's nothing that could keep me from my daughter. And so I recognize that being present parent being a great parents is more than just, just the act of creating child is the choices that we may. Every single day to show up as the parents that we need to be for our kids. Yeah. And I think it's hard to gain an understanding with any kind of closure of like how could someone have a kid and now want to be part of their life? Right. Like, like I think that's, that's a question that an even even if if if they weren't there physically. Right. Like your dad wasn't there. He just totally disappeared. They're still that sense of, you know, having a parent that maybe as an president all the time. Right. And it still checks you in a certain way they can definitely my dad and my mom were always there, but they're raising living kids, and they were in survival mode. And so they were just trying to get through the day and feeders. Make sure we rely. But there was no emotional connection. There's no, like, hey, you know, you proud of me and my good enough, there's no conversation like that. And so, I think it leaves avoid sometimes in people's lives of like, okay, you know, finding that purpose and it took us a while there. Once we had our own kids to realize that, but I. We'll get into this probably a little bit more in detail of pride. The struggles we had grown up from, you know, a lot of our issues stem. I think from our parents love their didn't Lewis, you know, in my opinion. So we'll get into that a little bit later but I'll be totally honest with you, man. I didn't know all this about you. Like I didn't know these stories. I was like if you could see my face, I was like, you know, this like incredible. Like what you've been through man, and everyone has a story, and it's, it's I think it's really cool that we able to have this podcast to share our stories but, you know, everyone that's listening. You know, we know that everyone has a story out there and it's an important story and we're here to help bring, you know, light or understanding to the role of being apparent right? And being a dad mom, this is, you know, it's called single daddy daily. But, you know, I it's, it's applicable to almost any parent out there and a lot of us have kids and, you know, we have responsibility now to break that cycle of what was passed on from. Generations before to now and it's up to us to break that cycle with our kids. Absolutely. You know, I couldn't have said it better myself. And I think that's really what we're here to do. Right. As we. This is one of the things that I got so excited about when I met you when we started talking about this as we both have that passion. We both want to make sure that people don't feel alone in this journey. You know, our greatest asset our greatest resources are kids in how we cultivate them how we help them through what ultimately our decisions as parents.
