"All all right right but nonetheless yet kam chancellor now going to be retiring how to deal with a bunch of injuries and that seemingly why he is retiring so now it's a point where legion of boom is no more okay richard sherman now on the rival team of the seahawks plan for the forty niners he's a thirty year old coming off of an achilles injury we'll see how he does like i said camp chance to retire earl thomas right now is holding out from the seahawks because he wants more money way wants new extension and brandon browner what's brandon browner doing all right brandon browner retire let's let's find that out camp chance was getting us to do some researcher right but nonetheless i mean brandon browner wherever he is he's probably committing some type of pacifist penalty right now right brandon browner right was he really that good was he or was it just a matter of maybe a secondary made him look better i mean brennan browner only lasted from two thousand eleven two dozen fifteen that's a bit odd i mean is first season rookie season makes the pobal six interceptions took two of them back for touchdowns marine that pass deflections thing right twenty three passes defended i mean the second year three picks only six process defended threefourths fumbles though right two hundred thirteen is last year was seattle he only toes twelve to a bit of a down year from only because he missed four games too they're all get hit for admiral wasn't thirteen plays eight games one interception like this is crazy at ten pass deflections i mean brian browner only played five seasons all right i mean did anyone expect that yeah brandon brown's athletes since two thousand fifteen brian brown has been leaked still that completely forgot about him so i mean you know what the af where the xfl should really think about bringing in brandon browner right he's thirty three am i reading this right how do you come into leaks late all right we got a little background on brandon browner's career two hundred and five browner signed by the broncos but broke his forearm is that season two thousand six he goes to the cfl he's there for a while all right from two hundred six i'm assuming to two thousand and eleven chosen eleven when he signed with the seahawks all right so that makes more sense right because i was really really losing my mind for a second so he's got five years of nfl experience was signed to a team until five brokers form and played in the cfo after that all right so that'd be a lot more sense i was so confused there but in the less i mean no no it doesn't make sense like i said legion of boom is no more all right kam chancellor came in i think the same year as earl thomas probably one of the most dominant some safety combo during that time okay i mean they were that good kam chancellor was literally agai where you're always you're always watching out for him all right you're always checking our worst cam on the field okay do i need to run this route up the middle or should i just maybe take a playoff here that's how good kam chancellor was okay now yes retired what's the seahawks team gonna do now okay this is a whole different team here i mean can we say it's the end of their and i'm curious to like seattle superbowl window that's closed right i think it's closed but the window isn't a lot require i think that's where we're at with seattle there's people window as right now is closed but it could be opened with a few moves okay because it's not forget yes seattle missed out on the playoffs last year and all but nonetheless let's not forget that pete carroll has done well to draft okay let's not forget the fact that at one point matt flynn okay yes matt flynn was opposed to be the starting quarterback for the seattle seahawks the year they drafted russell wilson all right can you imagine that matt flynn i mean that's ridiculous okay see goes to seattle in two thousand twelve two thousand eleven that's where he played two games all right in those two.

"Like hey we got a decent veteran ear and they can hold on until the rookie is up to bar but it is cleveland he's in the more on pick so you know what wendy you're right you you know know now now we're getting somewhere you gotta defer i know well i know i would say this tyrod taylor plays and things are going well and then baker mayfield so on the back burner but i just feel like you know right so that pressure to play the topic and then if he doesn't perform here we go exactly when when does the honeymoon even start for baker mayfield i mean if he's the backup quarterback to start season and tyrod taylor's playing well then the question is how about the honeymoon for the team if they start losing will they feel fan pressure can play baker mayfield and then the clock starts on him in terms of when he produces so i think he's a real good spot for that reason they look at the overall picture there in cleveland they they could lose and it could still be better than some right i mean like like they want they didn't want to game last here they only one literally started from the bottom they can afford to do a level of losing their that maybe another team that drafted a quarterback number one couldn't and have the same kind of patients from the fan base but if you look at the roster cleveland reason for you there wins but so serious weapons on their roster so isn't he's not like your typical number one overall pick this walking into you know the you know the bare cupboard like they have legitimate weapons on often so wait is in cleveland should be she'll be filling font above that well do we have a new king in cleveland with lebron gone who tyrod no it's not good to answer and it was worth the shi when i think the browns are in a position where they can be patient with this young man they plan to be patient with this young man yes plans can fall apart of taylor gets hurt if things don't go well but you know i think this is as we sit here on july second the browns are feeling like they're going to be able to execute the plan and let's be the browns are not in a one year window to try and win the super bowl they have to take a long view well how about this in response to our adam schefters tweet who tweeted this earlier today obviously with the news that lebron james had departed he said i'm so now cleveland's hopes rest with the browns but then what say you the cleveland indians responded with a thinking face emoji because they you know about about me see they indians are beefing with schefter believe that's the case yeah it must be lebron james has departed cleveland taking his talents to los angeles has day megadeal four years one hundred fifty three million plus to play for the los angeles lakers i say this because you know we'd have to stretch here little bit because i don't even know what the nfl equivalent would be the biggest player you can think of to the biggest team what would you say almost like tom brady to the cowboys because you got all that you have you know you have a guy who's kind of up there in age yeah league mvp last year going to a legacy franchise that that's a good one the cowboys like the lakers of the nfl is that it's a yellow flag right like an all time great team championships hadn't done much lately hysteria maybe it makes sense brady though see brazed done some winning though right of his own right more the more than lebron has right a little bit more than five channel he's at the latter part of his career so i was i was not to go as far as dany i was gonna say breeze to the cowboys but but yeah something like that aaron rodgers aaron rodgers rogers yes somebody like that an all time great i one of the all time greats going somewhere where maybe the you know the situation he's not yeah so that is the team just sort of seems like the nfl equivalent for whatever we always steelers one of those time now for must be the off season which indeed it is we will continue with our basketball thing theme there's te'o and if you missed it he recently said he will decline the invitation to actually be at the.

"The toughest division in the league i just think i think there's nothing not to like they can run the ball they can beat you with the run game they can beat you passing it i mean i think they're deep at all kinds of key positions you mentioned what they did in the draft last year not in love with what they did at the top of the draft this year using two first round picks to get the the edge rusher but it's obviously a guy they really believe in when given what they got it you got teams in that when they feel like they're close one piece they are they feel feel right like they're close within the hannah's championship last game but for what one miracle play by the vikings right and who's to say they go to philly maybe they can play better than minnesota did things would be different so they feel that way sit there they were they were not too far a reason to that here is our pie chart as we look at the percentages and congrats see both math on point today we had no issues to my knowledge but it's not it's possible i would miss it so we'll be taking a look this week at each division we'll have the final tally from all of our panelists on friday again as we look out for the team that goes worst to first in its division at tappan fourteen of the last fifteen seasons it is july second to i four week course so when thought we'd go inside the off season headlines are first from courtney cronin are vikings reporter kirk cousins good in the boots elite at avoiding getting hit in dodgeball so i'm back here with damien woody and in grozny yano okay so work with us here's off season he showed off his dodge ball skills there kirk cousins dead so here we go pun intended can dodge the rest of the nfc north and lead the vacuum viking back to the division top of the division check that bay man and in green bay th will be back pretty good player he's really good quarterback i mean listen kirk cousins good numbers but he's not on the level of aaron rodgers so this green bay team you know they got they got a new deep of the coordinator they added jimmy gram tight in i think it's green bay team's going to have a lot to say about who's gonna win the nfc north this year why don't we doing percentages on the nfc north oh that's a tough one that's going to be really tough on the green bay minnesota's rawson very very good and the defense especially while we talk on the back into the defense is loaded i mean the wide receivers deal in digs as good as anybody in the league in terms of tandem so i think kirk cousins has a very good chance but today means point aaron rodgers probably will be heard from before it's all said tomorrow as answer that question we will do that right asked him about that our next headline comes from texans wide receiver will fuller this via instagram this is video of him climbing up what appears to be a steep sand dune in the desert i didn't that wow that's easy don't try to home i guess not do the texans have the biggest mountain to climb where is he in the afc south that was the biggest mountain no they don't have the biggest mountain to climb because they're in the afc we just talked about this right i think i think they could their quarterback healthy and he plays all sixteen games big ifs obviously but they should be one of the favorites in that division get to answer to have you ever again or too long i know the summer we said the summer of dan and damion finally congratulations in order for browns quarterback baker mayfield who announced via instagram that yes he has gone relations engaged still that's usually a pretty good time you know there's a honeymoon honeymoon period and teams and cities also enamored with their draft picks especially the very top how long the honeymoon period left last if he will for cleveland and baker mayfield i'm going to say he's number pig he's going to be a lot of leeway i'm going to say i would say the direct alverson you don't think they could all worked up because he doesn't produce early tyrod taylor is why i i know that but you know i mean fans are sometimes he'll patient maybe i'm asking too much fans of thank.

"Super bowl are they the team that kind of couldn't get out of its own way at times last year lot of talent there a lot of ability a lot of potential very tough division i give them a thirty percent chance which again not bad bad number one at what never mind the panthers added a weapon it wide receiver when they traded for philadelphia that's what happens when i try to be mad also new to the offensive mix his running back cj anderson who rushed rober thousand yards with denver last season with their first round pick they took wide receiver dj more from maryland another weapon for cam newton on this you talk about a sort of spectrum here i you just really don't know which cam newton you're getting at times or at least that's how i feel how about carolina damian yoga twenty five for the carolina panthers listening they've added some pieces offense really why receiver cams we'll have more to work with house no of turner how's it going to alta cam's gang cans been lethal while nail you know he's kind of settle in on the type of quarterback that he is i don't know how much nobile to all today get his completion percentage up stuff like that case is a bit anyway there's a big key so listen carolina strong team they usually you know strongminded team defense with it'll be pretty good thomas davis suspended won't be suspended this matter sees that matters but again with these other these other three teen saints falcons pet they're all going to be in it at the end yeah they're all going to be in at the parody we saw last season i liked carolina like him a lot more than another division i went twenty four to but look i think i think cam newton is what he is and i think we've seen him at this very very best we've seen them able to win games in a number of different ways eager to see what christian mccaffrey is in year two i think it's a defense you can usually trust but to your point about thomas davis that's a big big glow into play without him for four games not have him in building for four games in meetings etc that's a guy that will be missed in a variety of ways suspended again whether it's a number of suspensions the first four games of the season so most of september drew bays will remain in new orleans after signing a two year fifty million dollar deal on defense the addition of safety kurt coleman should improve the secondary they also brought in cornerback patrick robinson talking about saints of course veteran tight end benjamin watson now in new orleans he signed a one year deal in march the saints have a what percentage chance of winning this division damien say i really struggled with this brought them i was going to change it but i'll say no what it was screw over too many people so i just went thirty five km player listen greenwich they're all made saw trendy big to get to this are they are very talented i mean they hit they struck gold lash it with the with the draft you know every pick i mean they have weapons everywhere run running about you know ingram's gonna be out here he's going to be out but you know album camaro who's offense offers a rookie year i mean they got weapons all over the defensively lot this team right here could easily represent the nfc in a super bowl quarterback all right they reassigned him he's good i i hear hear jay jay evenings at damien said the saints are trendy pick to reach the super bowl i am nothing if not trendy as everyone knows crow i'm going to give them the forty five percent chance to win maybe.

"May be the one or two to go worst to first the nfc south with strong last year three teams finishing with at least ten wins it was the only division with three teams in the playoffs as well the bucks have a long way to go our question now can they beat a team to go from worst to first in answering that question it's important to look at the changes that teams have made it in the off season so when you look at tampa bay they added weapons to their defensive line by trading for jp in late march they drafted defensive tackle vita with their first overall pick much needed help to a defense which ranked last in the nfl but then the news last week that quarterback jameis winston will be suspended for the first week games of two thousand eighteen for violating the league's personal conduct policy so this team will be without it starting quarterback for three of the first four weeks of the season percentage chance that tampa bay wins the nfc south damian still waiting well he's going indianapolis style here consistent listen i don't like anybody i didn't feel i didn't feel confident that they won't win the division eat anyway would james winston starting all sixteen games now that he's missing three games the first three games of the season yeah i think this is going to be a tough row for temporary buccaneers to be able to navigate within a division with that sent three teams to the playoffs this year they've made some changes and i i like some the move they made but again when you missing the starting quarterback the first three games and the whole key to a season is getting off getting all flip hired start on this thing that's going that's when i heard them unfortunately in my opinion for tampa bay feels like two steps forward three steps back like we just can't get moving in the right direction i'm not putting zero up there always topical stance here i say that is cheating cheating chance okay that's fair enough three playoff teams right i give the colts of five and the colts plan a strong afc division but a strong nfc division is something different right the nfc is kind of like wendy if i may now that i'm an nba analysts the western conference what the eastern conference a little bit here crossover show love hey that's a whole because the whole thing how about atlanta all right again a strong team last season the falcons the biggest move they made drafting wide receiver calvin ridley out of alabama to help both to an already explosive on pets under matt ryan who we know now signed a contract extension in may and they short up there kicking game by resigning the reliable matt griot to a three year deal this this offense was already strong i'd have to argue it got stronger david the chances the falcons win the division going forty it's pretty high i think the second year with steve sarkissian as the office coordinator i think is going to be i think it's going to be big for them hit more of a rhythm obscene saw last year you know some things that they had going on with that offense they weren't necessarily clicking like when they hit cow shanahan but i think the second year he'll know how to better utilize the personnel and calvin calvin ringleted office boy i this dude is one of the more explosive wide receiver coming out of draft so i i like the nfl ryan joined us when he signed his contract extension than may and said the same thing look it takes a minute to get justin to a new coordinator we were moving in the right direction but we didn't fully get there and i think we'll be you know a lot farther ahead of the game this time around i think it's an important factor here they may be but it wasn't the only problem the falcons hat last year a young defense that really didn't handle its success all that well too a lot of penalties that killed drives you know you had a team that in two thousand sixteen played as well as a capacity play in two thousand seventeen struggled with some things that didn't the year before so i think they're a very good roster top to bottom and i think we have to see who they are are they the team that dominated in two thousand sixteen in the second half of the year when all the way to the.

"Browns plan to use him more roll like that this year maybe play to his strengths but i think you're not going to see it as much because the league the league doesn't like that vernon davis hit right i mean that's not the image that the nfl wants out there about its game it's too violent you know his head jerks back you know all that stuff so it's not there's not going to be a premium placed on guys who can do that and i think that's the thing now you look at seattle seattle teaches tackling technique intensely and specific ways and proudly boasts about how they do it heads up all that kind of stuff and still this is a player who earned a reputation as a fearsome hitter doing it legally for the most part right i still think this is something that that the league you'll see less of that kind of startling violence i think is what the league wants to get to get real i wonder this i don't know if there's any bearing but you know aside from tire in matthew who signed the one year deal and sort of priced himself out of his previous team you're this age of this free agent market i should say for safety's has been slow to develop it another way to say it it's been soft now there are some mitigating circumstances with some of these guys we we've talked about that but you know why is that what are we seeing with this position in the market for it it's not highly valued as a premium position in the league the way pass rusher quarterback left tackle shutdown corner i mean those are in a salary cap era teams all have to make decisions about priorities where they put their high end resources they're big free agent dollars they're high draft picks and safety is a position where guys are seen as a little bit interchangeable and i think you know you see there are exceptional players i mean earl thomas got paid a big deal because you know his ability to operate as that deep middle guy enable seattle to run a lot of what it's been running for the past few years kam chancellor as the enforcer you don't see too many that have two guys like that and contract wise seattle ends up in a bad place eric berry got paid after a franchise year harrison smith got paid before he went to market but you don't really see that with a lot of these guys devin mccourty tony jefferson guys like that hit the open market but it's not a position where teams are spending big big money where the ceiling of the highest paid guys is going up kam chancellor i mean we he's a young guy you know this is the next step they'll be another career there'll be another future but what will you remember motion terms of his football career damian just the passion why did you even just watching the piece it was just just dripping with passion you know gentle gentle guy off the field but when he was on the field boy did he think his whole thing was trying to break your will intimidate you break your will you look at their one hit against the denver broncos and a super bowl that one that one hit the beginning to gain changed everything about their game and it just set the tone and that's what he was he was its own set town sat are no question about that it happens almost every year one team goes from worst to first in the division in fourteen of the last fifteen seasons team climbs from bottom to top last year both the jags then he goes did it to this week we look at teams that.

"To the bigger spread okay so we're fees if you're doing the math you know where we're headed here but don't don't move so quickly here is what we saw in jacksonville they advanced the afc championship game big things expected once again the off season saw them at beef to the offense of line signing all pro guard andrew norwell they also added tight in austin barry jenkins they did lose wide receiver allen robinson to the bears and cornerback aaron kovin to the forementioned division rival texans the percentage gentlemen for the jacksonville jaguars jaguars forty percent oh all right thank you did your math i did my math right i like their identity this the brand of football today play travels anywhere and when you have a russian attack and they added to it by bringing all poor linemen fun give them more beef but then when you have the russian attack the defense to complement and i think they've they want to open things up a little bit more a little bit more for blake bortles this year i thought at the end of the year and especially in the postseason he did some things in the postseason now with the whole off season signed up by extension so i think they they're going to entrust them a little bit more stinted identity expect him to make a little bit more plays from the quarterback position issue i gave him the thirty what we're seeing here is i have no idea who's gonna win the afc towns equally my only concern with the jaguars and i expect the jaguars to have a good team this year my only concern with them is i wonder if last year's is as good as get it couldn't have gone any better for them the way they play the way they grind it out and i wonder if you know playing a first place schedule you'll see a little bit of a scrub down yeah but yeah i think i think they're gonna have a good i think this is very interesting division and i think based on what what july second predictions are worth or you can go to your texas go to your local rhode island or new jersey sportsbook and bet the colts because obviously they're going to win now all this i think really the the the whole determining factor is the quarterback rare here shawn watson stays healthy i point to me that's going to determine the division do you remember what you gave the jags asked here anyone no i don't either do you know i don't yeah so i i was where where do but perhaps we save that listen this is the afc south and important exercise simply because every year fourteen in the last fifteen we have seen a team go from worst to first i think it's fascinating it makes the nfl among the things that makes it so interesting to watch so there's a recap and we will continue this exercise shortly with the nfc south we revisit our top story this afternoon seahawks safety kam chancellor appears to have retired via an announcement on twitter he never uses the word retire but it does appear neck injury has ended his career in the nfl damian we reference this earlier he was an enforcer i mean he's a tone set or however you want to call it but will we still see that we've seen the last of that enforcer type role terms of the safety position i figured starting to go away because obviously the rules in how the nfl kind of lead trying to legislate it out the game but also the way that offices are playing everything is the game is so spread the office wants to use every extra bladet grass is i like to say so you can't afford to have these guys that just play in a box you have to be able to play in space because a lot of running beds tied in they flex those guys out to try to create mismatches so you gotta have the personnel to match those guys they're young guys coming the league that that that's still their best skill planning collins with the new york giants is making a very nice career for himself i think gebriel peppers the.

"Zero you had to chase a really thing about the close they're in rebuilding mode right now clearly obviously you saw the tree that had got with a three second round draft pace they're to me they're building towards the future andrew luck we still don't know coming back from a shoulder injury switching defensively from three four two four three there's a lot of things going on in indianapolis right now and he's you look within a division the last time that andrew luck wanted division this all these other teams have gotten better they have although it's just hard for me if you had it healthy andrew luck to think that the chances zero just doesn't compute with me given that quarterback and how he can change it i'm not gonna i'm not gonna put zero in any bucks all we i just don't believe in it i think there's always chance the colts a five because i like you say i mean if andrew luck is back and if he's healthy and if he clears all the mental hurdles he needs to clear they have the best or the most accomplished quarterback of any of the four in the division right or you can always navy watson better based on what he showed last year but lux done more than any of these other guys have and i think that gives them a quieting chance if everything else falls by five five is not now and there are a lot of fs they're fairly just you know for the sake of argument all right the titans if you will they had a busy off season solid playoff experience with the patriots grabbed a few players actually malcolm butler and dion lewis you both know about playoffs lewis signing could offset the release of demarco murray with their first round pick the titans took linebacker rashawn evans he's expected to make a pretty big impact in somewhat immediately on that defense the percentage chance the titans win the afc south i'm gonna go twentyfive percent and i think i think the titans got a couple of good things going for him number one you know i'm a big believer in and mike variable former teammate of mine new england dame peas divas a coordinator they were both together mike variable dean pees will both together in new england so they had that chemistry so mike variable can focus on other things and matt leflore the office coordinator who came over from the los angeles rams now is going to be working with with marcus mariota i think he's going he's going to bring the most out of him and that offense and really designed that all fence around him so this is going to be this going to be interesting to watch and i can i just say this about my grabble i think he's going to have to be a ceo and bringing on cody as is put him in a position to do that not not try to do his former job as well muslim my baseball days when a new baseball manager would bring in an experienced bench coach to help him no oh you can't take the pitcher out now because exercise right so that that kind of thing very important obviously damian and i see the afc south very similarly i think i like the titans a lot i liked the roster you know mike gabel everybody knows mike variable loves him and expects big things but he is brand new at this so we don't jones so i'm not sure i can give make them the favourite although as you can see here wendy i know how you love i always make a real strong stand i'm pretty well torn between i among the three different teams i think when it's too big i miss my strong opinion you gotta come back afc's day i look forward.

"The last fifteen seasons the team has climbed all the way from the basement to the top last year but the jaguars the and the eagles went worst to first this week we look at team to may have a chance this time around cam texans make that move from worst to first though the cold also finished gordon twelve last season the texans lost both their meetings with within the jags took the division with ten wins while the titans were nine and seven and one their wildcard game at kansas city so all week long we'll look at each division and try to figure out who may do it this year we'll start of course today with the afc south and we'll tell you so you can make your own depending on the changes we've seen so here for the texans they made some moves in the offseason especially getting stronger defensive secondary they added tyrod matthew and cornerback aaron colin houston also made some moves on the offensive line they brought in zach fulton and central henderson and in the texans three and three last season but one just one of their last ten games don't forget and this is the big distinction without quarterback deshaun watson who appears to be on the mend and hopefully we'll be back healthy he was just dynamic when he was on the field so we're looking at each team they do have to add up to one hundred percent in case you're wondering i know that it is the percentage of chances for teams to go from from worst to first and so we'll start david we start with you so i'll make my let's see here colts oh just tech okay just like just texted see you gave it away there gustav i think thirty five percents solid yes thirty four percent listen that a lot of the stub really hinges on gaza come back from injury they got a bunch of big time guys coming back obviously jj watt whitney mercilus coming back and in obviously shawn watson when the shawn watson was playing seven games they're leading the league in scoring so that's just shows you how dynamic that offense can be has all off season obviously he's been rehabbing but secondyear offense so you know they're going to be joined some things specifically for him he's going to improve so i got i got the text at thirty five percents tax impatience with the quarterback now yes yes does it does what we sell so much bed injury luck there last year right and i think you know the texans i'm right there with you at thirty five that's that's the number i gave them i believe in the shawn watson i think the defense gets healthier you mentioned what mercilus adding tyron matthew i i just feel i'm a little worried about the offensive line but i think when you have a quarterback who can move around like the shawn watson you can mitigate that at least somewhat and as you mentioned when they're scoring points last year while he was healthy it showed that he can so i like the texans i think that thirty five we did the other divisions will find out as the week goes along thirty five kind of a high number yeah from what we saw maybe cold before you again tip your hand a look at the changes in indianapolis a relatively quiet off season clearly they hope to have a healthy andrew luck they did sign tied and eric braun to a two year deal to give him another weapon they got they got to protect him so they drafted guard quinton nelson out of notre dame with the number six pick and then of course fortyfiveyearold kicker adam venit terry will return for another season the percentage is the colts win this division i mean daming i guess i'm going to use this okay i know skills the.

"That rams defend so it'll be incumbent you know it'd be incumbent on way phillips to get those guys way one the best defensive coordinator is in the national football league guys lo plan for wave phillips so i don't see that being a problem but you know i think that's something that has to be stated right now to sean mcvay the head coach spoke to him a couple of times this off season you know on this topic and that's obviously what everybody wants to talk about how how you bring it all together he said the key is making sure that everybody is on the same page in terms of what they believe about the team's identity the team's culture guys that love football as a phrase he keeps using keep delete as a player that that wade phillips knows coached him in denver so they know who he is dominating sue they spend a great deal of time with before signing him as a sue and aaron donald were in communication with each other other before the signing the rams made sure donald knew what they were doing with regard to sue so he wasn't upset about it so they did spend some time thinking about how this will all fit together and why it'll all fit together and there's a difference between bringing in guys from the outside to help you with stabbing a culture and bring in guys from the outside to fit a culture you're already building and if you believe that you've done the second thing then it can work if you're trying to do the first thing i think that's when we've seen a blow and i think that's especially true with dhamma consumer because he's not proposed the first time in his career he's not the man aaron donald is american and he's complimenting aaron donald in this situation it and i would say it is the first time what a what a departure for down consumer how this okay derek carr this first tweet he's talking about welcoming all new lakers fans alley there's a bandwagon here with the latest news it's fair that you'll have one of these and what it is i believe is a form we all love forms it's a it's an application faneuil a bandwagon application taking oil location yes because damian i believe wasn't laker fan pressure to i do okay do all right but you can transfer your phantom but what i really like because i like to be prepared is sort of your backup plan you need a backup plan in case oh break loose and you.

"You look at all three layers of their defense they look pretty pretty good but like dan talked about the la charges are fantastic minnesota vikings secondary is no slouch either so i'm on no right now paper they look great but i need to see them in action i just i couldn't i couldn't cast my vote not direction too i've seen them on the field there's just no sample size really for this particular group to work together well the nba not alone the nfl share big free agent signings after eight seasons in philly reggie white went to green bay run a super bowl defensive player of the year award and went through six pro bowls dion sanders made his presence known in atlanta for five years before he went on to san francisco for one and only season nineteen ninety four forty niners went on win the super bowl that year year later joined dallas and by the way one another one drew brees has some success in san diego but his career really took off when he joined the saints and sean payton he's led the league impasse in yard seven times and won the super bowl in nine and most recently peyton manning joined the broncos prior to the twenty twelve seasons spending four seasons in denver he led the team to two super bowl appearances including title and his final season of two thousand fifteen last year is nfc west ham's made big moves acquiring quarterbacks market leaders and a cave to lee via trade then i wrote a big check big for the consumer one year deal after he was let go in miami and then the rams got quarterback jared goff a deep threat trading for wideout brandin cooks they've got a phenomenal young coach it would seem they've got a veteran coordinator group who also seems to kind of have it together you know of all these moves it we talk so much about that deepens but when you look at what they did what stands out to you if you had to pick one and say absolutely which one would it be for the rams i mean because you there's a number to choose from wow i think that that indomitable superior in with with aaron donal i think that's gonna pay huge dividends because i was tell people when it comes to russian to quarterback is not necessarily the guys on the outside quarterbacks hate prussia up the middle and when you got aaron donald sitting there in the middle getting double team because he's going to command a double team nine you gotta block in dumb consume one with that type of pressure coming up coming up the field and that should pay huge dividends for the rams defense it didn't quite work out for down consumer miami obviously they backed up the truck so to speak as we've said before it never it just never seemed to work dan for a lot of reasons does that give you any trepidation for this move by the rams no i like this move for the rams and the pairing with donald i think it'd be good for both players my my answer to your question damian would have been marcus peters just because i think you know what the rams are fundamentally building is some is a young core and i think he can kind of assimilate into that somewhat quickly and be he's exciting player and obviously i learned from a key to leave you know that's a that's a good veteran for him to be with right now so but i i like soon donald in the middle i i think that makes them a strong defensive line as anyone in the league we judged on this briefly earlier but one of the biggest challenges here about bringing a group of there's intangibles i get it personality and all that but just in terms of of the style of play what do you see as the biggest challenges of bringing some of these big names together especially defensively are you complete with team i've seen we've seen a lot of teams bringing a lot of big name free ages but king you mow the guys to play together i mean you're talking about some marquee big time names that are coming over to.

"Some sense of security beyond you know getting one year tags but there's gotta be some type of a happy medium between libyan bail and the pittsburgh steelers offense he's twenty six years old so i'm sure something can come about they just gotta find finding sweet spot twentysix there's a critical number for sure he's also said recently that he thought they were farther along this time last year then again this has been an eighteen month process and they can't cross the finish line in a bell brown rothlisburger if you had to pick the most integral the most important if you will to that offense who is it i always take the quarterback but i think in this case i mean you have a guy in levy on bell who he keeps making this point he catches the ball to i mean this isn't just he's a special part of that offense in a way that most players aren't david johnson in zone as a guy that is used as somewhat similar way but there aren't many so i think he's he's he's the fulcrum he's the way they they play from a head so often that i think he's he's a very important player difficult deal to get done for a lotteries and yet i still find myself defaulting it'll get done but i know i know i have to remind myself that that look right there know demarcus lawrence also a franchise player i'll say this as we overreact dallas should wait to give lawrence a term deal in other words let him back up what they've seen or damian having seen enough is this an overreaction or no no believe is not a no reaction they should they should want you know seeing what he can do beyond another year i just sometimes you got to be careful with these wonders yeah you really do i mean he had a fantastic year last year but man to back up the truck for guy who really just burst on the scene for one year and put up big numbers from couple them like c you repeat it again then we then we can revisit this i totally understand that logic i really do and i understand that's what they're thinking and there's a lot of sense i didn't know where you go no over reaction because i think it's just going to get more expensive for them if they wait you have a guy now who's gonna make what seventeen plus into on the franchise tag what if cloudy today deal comes in eighteen and a half what of khalil max deal comes at twenty twenty one million aaron donald tops all of that pass rusher is a premium position and i think if they wait then there's a deal that probably doable now that isn't going to be doable six months eight months twelve months from now and i think it man up costing them a lot of mon objector has been straight up i mean that's the way we've seen the numb verse work for sure it we talked about the changes in seattle in terms of subtraction if you will the additions to the ram the names we've seen and the moves that have been made no team really more active in this respect than the rams so i'll say this rams have the best secondary in the national football league if i say that dan to you is that an overreaction in your opinion or no i think it's an overreaction because i'm not all the way sure they have the best secondary in los angeles chargers secondary i mean the defense top to bottom looks outstanding but i mean you look at the secondary guys like jason barrett casey hayward they dreaded your derwin james right jalil died good player out there you know that's a team that maybe could use a girl thomas kind of top that all off and make it unquestionably the best but that's one of the stronger positional units in the entire league so i like what the rams have done we haven't seen it all play together yet we believe wade phillips can make it work but i think it's a little bit of an overreaction say me and i think there in lies the distinction you will have to have somebody and perhaps wade phillips is that person who can make this come together because i mean obviously the understatement of the century there's no shortage of personalities here absolutely you gotta do a great job managing personalities but agree with dan i think it's overact fly now they they look they look good on paper there's no question i mean.

"Holdover whatsoever no they've seen this coming for awhile just knowing what the cap numbers were going to be on these guys starting this off season into twentyeight teen so guys like richard sherman you know i think probably earl thomas they extended kam chancellor last year obviously didn't foresee his injury but michael bennett got to the point where they weren't going to pay him anymore and frank clark as an ascendant talent there on the defensive line sheldon richardson was there for a year i mean that was that was a flyer they took on him but yeah i mean you think about that that's secondary and what do all those highlights the first three or four those highlights where he's forcing fumbles there's two or three other guys intricately play right everybody was working off each other and in concert with each other and when you get that as a team damian i mean you know you've played on championship teams i'm sure you know when you have those guys all working together like that i mean that's the thing beauty terminating is intimidating for the opposing for the opposing offense when you guys that's rally around the ball that cost less woman to the ball overtime in a game it it takes its toll on you let's circle back to earl thomas because i feel you know we've seen this movie before what are the odds he holds out or do we see him at the start of training pretty strong odds he holds out if he doesn't get a new deal before training remember he skipped that mandatory minicamp last month where you you start to get fine if you missed that so he's already shown he's willing to accept some fines in order to make his point if he doesn't get a new contract for traded to a team that will give him one before training camp i would expect him to hold out for at least a few days and you saw with chancellor a couple of years ago he missed regular season games in a contract dispute so if thomas is willing to take it all the way it could force the seahawks hand you know to your point we talked to carol at the combine he did see a lot of this coming it doesn't mean that these changes won't take a little time to settle in i mean that's just that that's just the way it works and there's been a number of them seahawks rookie linebacker shaquille griffin took the mound at safeco field threw out the first pitch and guest the catcher i love this is twin brothers shaquille griffin perfect first pitch one brother to another nobody got it any kind of fight or anything like that not those not those two that's pretty good news i two weeks to go now until the deadline four franchise players to reach longterm deals with their respective teams none more talked about perhaps than this guy levy on bell for the second consecutive season he's been franchised by the steelers so as we turn now to reaction monday i'll say this steelers should pay the man whatever he wants but we're reaction not an overreaction i think it's an overreaction but whatever he wants i mean there's gotta be something reasonable here they're already at fourteen point five million on the franchise tag so if he wants more than that i mean that's that's six and a quarter million more than the next highest paid running back makes i think i think everybody's got to be reasonable i'm all for guys getting paid i just think that there's a number for levian bell it somewhere between whatever he wants and and what's what's reasonable it'll still be pretty excellent so i'd say no it's an overreaction running back there is inherent risk there he's not a free agent yet so no what do you got when do you know i'm pro player i thank god i pay you know but the the symptom me gotta say overreaction in there listen you can't just go out there and go willy nilly and just given gaas backing up the truck like that but i mean this guy has this guy deserved to be clearly the highest pay running back in the national football league he's going to be that with the franchise tag but i know he wants.

"Of the guard continues in seattle seahawks safety kam chancellor appears to have retired via an announcement on twitter although he never used the word retire it does appear neck injury has ended his career here's some excerpts from his statement i've played through all types of bruises and injuries at a high level but this one i just can't ignore when the doctors told me what was going on in november i could feel my heart drop the stiffness in my neck and the images i saw had me at one of my lowest point as a man because football is all i knew outside of serving the lord to walk away from the game by choices one thing to walk away from the game because of the risk of paralysis is another my final test showed no healing i put all my blood sweat and tears into this game and he ended the statement with this time for the next after so few players in the nfl get to leave on their own terms it certainly every single players goal but that's not always the case dan and in this case i'm sure there are other choices that would have been made but the risks here were legitimate right and all that's laid out in his statement the issues regarding head injuries nick injuries what the doctors have been telling kam chancellor about his chances of significant catastrophic injury if he continues to play you mentioned that the word retire is not in the statement that's no accident kam chancellor's he has six point eight million dollars fully guaranteed coming this year but this ten million dollar salary for twenty nine thousand nine five point two million of it is injury guarantee if he retires then technically they don't have to pay the injury guarantees so he stays away from that word because there's almost certainly going to be discussions between kam chancellor and the seahawks and some sort of settlement that gets him some of his twenty nine hundred money similar situation what we saw earlier this off season with the bill center eric would lead to retire under similar circumstances they reached an injury settlement he had a press conference he never said retire so but in terms of kam chancellor again it's all laid out there the reasons why and if anybody's wondering why the word retire isn't in there that's almost certainly the explanation damian he was a heck of a player in part of a heck of a group you know it's almost in some ways i feels like anyway the end of an era and we'll talk more about the position in particular a little bit later but this group has seen a lot of changes and cam the latest in that line when i think of the legion of boom a lot of people talk about richard sherman and rightfully so he's a great player but i think safety's earl thomas in and cam chancellor because those two guys were the enforces they set the tone full it now only secondary before the whole team and the team to own their identity and kam chancellor boy what a career he had he i think he's he's in a last breed type guy one of those guys that comes down in the box and wool thought you the death and he's a heck of a safety four sir if you will and to your point we're going to see some changes likely in that regard no one is disputing either the changes that we've seen in the seattle defense bound to happen but you know dan we were talking it seems like it's been rapid look at this i mean this is the sort of the height of the legion of boom if you will this is what the defense looked like all right so you can see and then you move now to what we would call the seahawks defensive depth chart heading into two thousand eighteen and there's really not a lot of.
