"Consultation. Will podcasting of you invite me on your show. And you can show me the demographics of who you whom you have in your audience and i can speak to well. I will waive that five thousand dollars not go on your show and talk for hour and a half two hours anything you want to ask me. I say this to people all the time i say. If you sent my team a message and said i want to speak to fill forty five to sixty minutes. They're gonna say sure his invoice. You invite me on a podcast and you can tell me you're either gonna look to become a customer introduced me to your audience and there were speaking to all you want to become a strategic alliance and introduced me to some people that you know. That's worth far more than meets me building now consultation. So i'm going to come talk to you. of course i i have. I have a lot to say now. So tell me more okay. I wanted to leave with this one. That i wrote it down my little cue-card right right now and i'm having conversations you mentioned you know obviously having conversations and getting yourself brooms it. You typically wouldn't be against an alliance with or even in the circum threats of being around rhianna cloud gate won't let's relate it to podcasting just for a second for those maybe have not thought about this approach and this is my approach is when i do need to get someone's attention. Take a clip in a podcast. So we're having a conversation right now in someone wants to go. I don't know how to get from a network to an agency or celena agency or whatnot. Why no that. I'm speaking to you now. And if they're aligned to that message then i'm going to have a conversation and i'm to bring up a topic. They night to talk about. And i'm a clip. It posted tag you in it. And now i got your attention. Another way of doing it is i. I like to watch consume a of content. Not that. I need the content. I consume the content to look at the art of podcasting art of asking questions. Because that is my specialty. Okay so when. I'm looking at people that do interviews as you know i don't i don't ask you. Here's the question i wanted to ask. I don't do that shit by looking at interviews that you went on okay and i have done this with you. Yep we'll know what you like to talk about what you don't talk about and which you light up on you see it in your face but when you came onto the show. It's not that. I had an idea what i wanted to ask. You just need to conversation to get there eventually so for those out there that really want to get attention of a podcast and get on a show of your dreams. I highly recommend watching some of their content and then look for an area of opportunity going. You know i watched you on this show and they should a did this for. They should ask you this question and i have a question for you love it. Love it love. That's how you land high level individuals on. I'll give you one as well before we go. This nice one to finish with..

"But that's where my end at jammer. If this was a moment that surprise lionel messi which we did see obviously. It wasn't anything that he expected when he arrived to the offices that day. How did it go down in barcelona with all the boss a funds. Nobody was expecting this. Were they know que. No one was expecting that funds. Everyone was kind of prepared last year because a player who wanted to leave but one year later he wants to say that club wants him to stay and it didn't happen so it chocking it surprising i agree with. Gabby there are many things that still we don't know and a part of that. Of course award has starved. It starter four months ago with that. These are combination of less super league but definitely 'bout celena not taking money and leaving sacrificing his beloved captain layer massive means. They will try to go for that. So we have a new war of football with that super liga project so you rightfully asked a lot of questions last time around urban your article last week before we'd heard from john laporta in his press conference before we'd heard from lionel messi now after everything that has gone down. Do you believe that this is. It's over between the two parties. But i'm not going to believe it on jill. Leonor massey's unveiled as man player. I think this whole situation is so illogical so absurd all happen before which from the audit that but then they weren't short and the audit turned out to be worse than expected to them. Can meeting all these bums. I mean make community about on this formula as it can get something brian about fifty million dollars which is roughly messy would have cost. I don't know what kind of business are they running when you do that. But for you have the audit i to me just too many questions. i think. Part of something bigger something that the part is doing for whatever reason and turkey into it's in the best interests of the club plus i can only assume that you know. Even now this is part of a bigger story perhaps being probably melita possibly involving around the the super league as well And i think there's gonna be more stuff to come out because too many people but to connecticut have come out and said this is wrong resignations. We've had as i mentioned before you know. Somebody like john. Otis saying you know i. I know that the contract was ready and was approved by the league up until a few games ago. So it just resorting me. It's this is a power play between join the potter and heavier tie bus. Doesn't everybody lose. If messy leaves of course on the one hand laporta was down in infamy as as the president who allowed messy to to leave the camp. No i'm not under macy's message. Tombs fatigue us. of course. this is a strike against the league league at loss. Christiano renaldo couple years ago no you lose lose messy to the best players of this generation and it detracts from the league as as a spectacle as as something that draws spectators to it regardless of of support and and. That's that's a difficult to swallow as well but until says defense if he's strict with the rules and is not being flexible. I don't have an issue with that on laporta a going on in infamy but it's a situation is not a tall of his making. Yes yes answer for the four signings that he still coming register but being in this position at a club in this much debt on the salaries out they have committed as not been his making. Maybe estimated it but now we have this rather ridiculous situation that it seems only french football benefits from but temperatures got problem here because has once will be hall a. He bought tracts on financial shenanigans at barcelona..

"Yeah we're ready. we're ready mom. Let's do it. I i read in your fellowship allocation that a part of what you do is not just make handles to make money. But there's a a social aside to to your business. Can you tell me a little bit about it. Well when we started the boys wanted to definitely give money to someone in the community and literally every time. It's a homeless person. They were giving money either. They were giving their money or asking me to give if any cash that i had and dc is a very large homeless population so we decided that very early on. We're going to give they wanna give they wanna get fifty percent and i. I said we can't do that because then you won't make any money. I said you know profit is after we pay our bills so you won't make any money. Let's let's give a amount that makes a significant difference but also enough where you can have a profit so we decided on ten percent and we work with three foundations in dc that we donate to and then we also sometimes and sometimes you just giving every time. We visited different city. We'll give to a charity there. We just don't really publicize it so we'll find charity city and we'll donate to that charity. We donate to other charities around the city. I think just don't publicize because we like you know. Sometimes you just give to give you. Don't give can say thank you give a gift. Yeah tell me what your vision for. The business is what how do you. How do you think about it in five or ten years from now they want for a bronco stores they want campbell stores around the world not even the nation around the world. That's what they want. They want them to be on the shelves of target of north georgia They have a very big vision right. Now i'm going to be moving out of our warehouse when we describe it was an experience of of harassment. Some racial intimidation where we are. And so i was telling everyone about on social media and okay how about you bio warehouse. Now we're talked about warehouse but we just talked about it so you know what we can buy warehouse. We can do that. And then when i talk to the boys about it and i know another initiative about building a homeless center. I said why. What do you guys think of homeless next to the warehouse that we build and they will. A momma's go forward because in our mission we've always had our mission that we want to help train homeless people and have worked. Have a transitional program and we were actually right before covid hit. We're talking to the different organizations that we work with about bringing some of their employees helping with training programs and they call the hit and that just moved down the drain. So i was okay. We build a house and then we can build a homeless center next to it and then we can actually help people not just help them find their home but train them as well so the plan is to eventually get get by warehouse. Yes by warehouse and build a homeless training center next to it so cool. If you and your your boys win the competition how will you use the fifty thousand dollar grant to house definitely worth warehouse in helping build that center. We're actually talking to different realtors this week about finding the land getting more employees. We tend to employ families in. I tell you everything we do is very ganic. We employ mothers and daughters. We employ brothers. We employ brothers and sisters. And it's not on purpose. Either they come to us. Impairs one starts working as and says you know. What can my brother come. So we have either someone's related or a lot of the kids. We have a team who in the evening and all of them grew up with colin playing football. So we have all these big football players making candles. They root phrases that zelina gill co-founder of freyre brosio along with her sons colin ryan. And austin more stories of how. I built this. "Hey welcome back to how. I built this fellow's edition from npr. I'm garros so selena. Gill co founded her company. Freyre brosio with her. Three children. Colin ryan and austin they started a home fragrance company and they now sell soy and coconut vegan. Candles diffusers fast salts. All under that name freyre brosio was not their original idea but they ran into a naming issue. Pretty early on the brothers wanted to name it. Gill brothers candle company. And when we google gill brothers. There's so many different. Companies named go brothers salva cycle care. Let's do something different. Had just started home schooling that year but all three of them had gone to the same for anti-american school for a number of years and had a french tutor. Who's to call them her little bronco. She's a bronco. We bronco different accents. And i said well you know your tutors to call that. Let's at brothers to it. So we're fair. Rossio came from because bronchial brosio is gill like a official so the teachers to call them. Yeah that's so cool. So the gill brothers in french rare brush and and now that's the name of the company. Yes all right. How did it start. How did this business begin. What were you doing in in in your life at the time when you started this business first year home schooling salves at home off through the voice and they ask for more money for nerf guns. Ps four games toys. You name it. My husband. And i were like no you get enough. Allow with money. If you want more you have to get a job or start a business. And i said it just to encourage them but i didn't think they were actually want to do it so there will like mom. Let's start a business. I'm like are you serious. Okay so if you want to do this let's do it and be successful at it. So we did a research project because home schools like this is going to be a lesson plan and they research which kicked businesses were the most successful and those were bath bombs soaps and candles so they learn how to make all three types. They know how to make process cold process soap all sorts of bombs paraffin candle soy candles vegan candles and we all use them as as chemistry experiments by the way they just went online and just like looked at how to videos we google day. I went there candle making workshop as well and bright those what i learnt home to them and we learn how to make everything and people love the candles the most and they asked me also mom. Which one do you like the best. I think candles because everyone was candles. Yeah so all right so so they start experimenting and they come up with a line of candles. Your boys and this is becca. I think two thousand seventeen right. Yes and at the time you're boys. What were their ages. They were twelve nine and seven twelve. Nine hundred oh. Wow awesome okay. So they have this line of candles. And where do they go. Where i mean they wanna sell it. So how do they start to to put out into the world and sell them. Who who who are. They selling them to initially baseball football games. We literally have the candles. In the back. My minivan they went out. They let people smell install sniff them and they brought people back to the mini van and they bought candles. then how did they. What was the next step. I think they actually decided to go to like craft fairs right and and start to sell craft fairs. What was the first crafter they went to. It was an npr all considered halley fair again. We should i explain this. Npr in washington dc has a craft fair around christmas time. And it's all local makers and you could call the all crafts considered fair plan all things considered and you can go there and And sell your stuff and npr employs in the public can come into the building and buy stuff and they they. How did they find out about it. Some are sent me an email and someone knew what the boys doing and they send me emails. I apply for the boys event. And that's okay. I heard of it. But i had never been a part of it so i apply for them event and i also. I sell t-shirts at the time. So i had a booth booth. And i asked the court said make sure that their table is not close to mine. I train them. I said look. This is what we say to. People is usually what i do when i sell t shirt because the t. shirts with aside i kind of a side hustle. 'cause i was fulltime home schooling and i said this is how you how you sell to customers. I taught them how to do. Elevator pitch everything. And i said. Make sure their way for me. And they're with their dad. I'm not stepping in to take over. That what moms do we do. I said no. I want them to do it by themselves. I want them to feel independent and know they can do it and they sold out. They sold out at the pierre. Crafts fair orders. They took off for future only ran out. They took orders. Wow and by the way. We're selling one size candles or selling different sizes. At the time we the time they were selling four ounce into ounce got it okay so completely sold out so that's a good sign that they're onto something. What was the next step in in expanding the business out. We joined the maiden dc program which is a program for local makers in dc maryland. Virginia area and through the program we were able to one meet other makers found about vending fares. They have programs who are so tend know to learn how to our business and through actually another program we also Joy market seven which is an initiative and more seven and dc which is historic black district and the founder of that program brought black makers together and present them to to retail stores to say. Look i have these black magazine you want to put them on your cells so through her we ended up in made in dc shop so that was the first retail location because like a black history or something like that and she got a lot of together presented us and they pick them once they wanted to be there on that night so from november to february. They got their first retail spot. Well this is now february twenty eighteen. Yes now brings us to today. You're now in in some retail retail locations. And i think you're you have a partnership with macy's to sell your candles and your diffusers and things online. I have to assume that the boys are not hand making the candles anymore because they the capacity right. No they're not they're not i. Promise them i promise them with two thousand nineteen. I said guys. If you want to expand your business as trust me. I said get it to a point where you don't have to make it anymore. So less by two thousand twenty. We made it in july. We gotta warehouse. We started hiring people for the warehouse so now at this point they don't make they make if the guys that we need some extra production. How can you come in. They'll come in and make both for the most part. They just kind of manage their oversee. Go in they train every now and then they trained people they need to but they're not the primary manufacturers anymore and tell me a little bit about your sales i mean i think you guys are close to or maybe more your revenues in the seven figures. Yes yes we. We were very happy. They may seven figures in a pandemic. Wow we were amazed because you asked ryan ryan is the middle son. He was nine when we started from day. One ryan has had the most consistent attitude with we're million dollar company. Ryan is the analyst. He says how many people at the event so we should talk ten percent of them. So this time you're gonna talk to and because of that. We should have this much sales. But that's the way ryan thinks he's very analytical like he's a lego head like see see creations we have. He's an engineer. He's arche to be architect when he gets older. Rams like we can make a million we need to make this much to make a million and this much a day and is that what we need to do. And that's just who. He is. The person i was just kind of fearful of saying yes to 'cause i was like. Are we ready and ryan like..

Who is the of small business empowerment amazon. The small business powered team is focused on driving. The success of amazon's small business partners and works with teams across amazon deliver programs. Investments that support their growth carries a graduate of the university of florida's levin college of law where she earned a juris doctorate degree shows holds in history of english from covenant. College carry welcome to the show. Thank you so much for having me very so i could ask you. How did you end up being a lawyer from studying history and english extensive amounts of reading and writing. The really is i. You know when. I was In actually in high school had an opportunity to participate in a youth leadership program That included a track on the judicial system. And i just kinda got hooked on on everything that was involved in of course. Reading and writing is a big part to sorta leaned into those superpowers. I guess so. How did you pass from being a j. d. lead you to amazon and out small business owners. The phone question I do. I've today describe myself as a recovering lawyer. A my favorite time. Yes you know the thing that was fun for me about practicing law was you. You get to spend all day identifying issues in solving problems and so i really From day one enjoyed solving ambiguous problems. Where you had to figure out the root cause of whatever issue or opportunity was in front of you and then inventor way to the solution and so that took me from practicing law Up through a variety of roles on the business side where i've gotten to solve increasingly problems. focused on solving challenges For usually for others which leads to my my role today which is very good to spend all day everyday focused on helping solve issues challenges and make the world a better place for small businesses. I think a lot of people carry don't realize how many small businesses actually work through the amazon channel. Tell us about that So amazon in the us alone on amazon works with more than two million independent partners. They come in all shapes and sizes celena stores. They operate delivery service businesses. They use tools trim. Aws a build alexa skills. They published books with kindle direct publishing so amazon supporting small medium. Sized businesses is a fundamental part of our work there. It's a core part of what we do everyday. An extension of our customer centric culture. Our success depends on their success and our global head. Carrie i was gonna say in our in our store worldwide. We have over a million independent businesses selling in the account for over half of all products sold. And we've seen their sales continue to outpace our retail so we know that customers value them in this election they bring in an incredible way. The amazing statistic that over half of everything purchased on amazon is sold through independent third parties. Small medium sized businesses. That it's not really amazon. Really is the amazon marketplace right absolutely. Yeah the outlive sewing partners. The independent businesses bring those products role and bringing such a wonderful and diverse array of products across all categories. That customers enjoy now. Even i know most of us were surprised by covid. Nineteen who would know that once in every one hundred years right what happen last year but was my biggest surprise is that when ordered some from amazon. It couldn't get here in two days. I thought would never ever happen. Carry tell us about the challenges. They're really amazon. Face in the small business partners did during the height of the covid nineteen crisis absolutely right kobe. Nineteen created many challenges for small businesses. We you know despite it. We were encouraged to see that sense and through that time. Small companies have continued to grow with amazon. You know twenty twenty the number of us long medium sized businesses that surpassed one million dollars sales grew by more than twenty percents and more than thirty seven hundred surpassed him in sales for the first time. Which is just a really great business milestone for any prisoners owner. I'm those businesses have created an estimated one point one million jobs which is phenomenal. It's such an important part. Is you know what keeps our communities going and so we've seen as customers of increasingly shopping online on the past year. The businesses were using e commerce. House channel have continued to sustain grow. I'm in our commitment to supporting them. And adopting for the future has has never been more steadfast done a number of things both continuing work. We've been doing for years and new things. We did in twenty twenty to continue supporting them through that journey. And i think that's really the key role. The amazon plays a lot of companies have got into e commerce for the first time during covid nineteen and like all right. I'm gonna go set up a store. But they no incomes and i think that is really the key of getting involved in the amazon marketplace. Because you already have so many people looking for products right there absolutely One of my favorite stories. I think one of my favorite projects from twenty twenty was last year redesigned prime date support small businesses and we committed more than one hundred million dollars to help their growth over the shopping event through the holiday season and that included holding our biggest small business promotion. Yeah so during that promotion customers. Purchase dollars and products from participating. Small business selling on amazon. Ten dollars credit to spend on prime day. It's on a two week. Lead up to prime day. Small businesses included in that promotion generated more than nine hundred million dollars. In sales on prime day independent third party sellers had their two biggest as ever surpassing three and a half billion in sales which is nearly sixty percent year over year increase and even more growth than our retail business and then it also came with stories like the story of lia foods actually a seller based north aurora forty minutes outside of chicago and she makes african inspired spices but The fun part about her story. It demonstrates the power of selling on amazon and an event like prime day to find those new customers over to help those new customers find you. She shared that coming out of advent not only has she almost doubled her single day sales but her daily started trending upwards with all that new customer acquisition those stories. We really enjoy seeing so those who've never really men sold their price to amazon. What kind of rain moments are there. And what is it in a cost to market on amazon. Yes so our public schedule. So if you if any seller or someone considering becoming a feller looks online at those public public information fees range from eight to fifteen percent depending on product type and for business selling amazon. Really do that as a marketing cost because of the access to that three hundred million customers that it creates and then beyond the monthly in referral fees. everything's optional so sellers choose. What's right for their business. We offer as i mentioned a variety of services in programs than in its pick. What's right for you right so if you want to lean into advertising their options for you could choose what suits for your business if you want to move away from fulfilling your on products create more bandwidth for yourself to do other things there options to leverage by amazon into leverage the customer service support that comes without. So it's it's very much a choose your own adventure but each business owner can select the right fit for them and what fits their

Brady's conservative mistake free nature here of just kind of like being safe and putting out a very safe article I think. That's actually a clash with Bruce. Arians no risk it no biscuit style. I don't know is it fair to say like how you act in the media's how you actually play kind of we've seen Tom Brady be very very safe and the way. He acts on the football field. I wonder what warm weather time? We'll be if he's going to be willing to be throwing the ball throwing the ball all over the field like Jamie Simpson.
What one thing Kyle Shanahan would have done differently in Super Bowl
"Shanahan first public comments post the Super Bowl indicating he thinks the way they ended the first half was one of the reasons why they were up in the in the fourth quarter quote. I think that's one of the reasons why we're up. Ten in the fourth quarter and quote also thinks Jimmy Garoppolo one of the main reasons they got the super bowl quote. Jimmy is one of the main reasons we got the super bowl times by pal shot at hand. I'm telling the first comment obviously defend his quarterback. Doc Look no one's defended. Shane had play calling for the last few days. More than me. I think the criticism of him throwing the ball has been way overblown. But I'm still critical of of how we handle the end of that first half yes. It's why they were up ten but I do believe he should of anticipation that Patrick mahomes against gas line of Defense in the fourth quarter was a bad bad matchup and they should have tried to take the point when their offense and the defense. "But again, this is like fifty, five, forty five split in my mind, like none of these sins. I hold strongly. I'm just a little bit over the line. I like that we spent this much time on the names because this will be the one that will definitely remember next week, right to be like you said this. And I said, this. This your like. What are you saying? Ten. Something right? Y'all, your content, some ten or ten Santen. Yeah, I'm saying nine. Stevenson, Tennessee are. Cool, we got that. Yeah. I think the twenty seventeen I phone ten goes away. I think the line will be the two, ten s phones whatever the Tennessee or nine, whatever that phone is eight. Eight plus seven, seven plus s e I think I think the seven, seven plus as well as a that would follow in line with what they did last year, seventy four by six s it is, but it's the same number phone you can buy now. I'm not saying they should do that, but it's what they do. So I think that the iphone ten, the skew the the model number that we have today will not go down in price. It will simply go away like the iphone five did remember the five see replace the iphone five at the discounted price. So I think something similar will happen this year, and I think that'll be that'll be it for this iphone ten and was have the new ones. I think that's all that price. I think they can't got the price of much on the ten and have the margins. They want hints the Tennessee or the nine or whatever that phone is. With LCD in it. So. Kind of where I stand there, and I think you know the the colors being being on the Tennessee fits with that with that idea. And you know, the five c was not a big success. I think for a lot of reasons. I think people. I think we talked about it on the show. I'm sure I don't know what we do in the show then I don't know, but I know riding at the time, at least I, I really thought that apple should have a sort of like mid tier phone to hit a bunch of price points around the world, and the five c was not that phone. The five c was a replacement for the five hundred dollars less because the five was expensive to manufacturer and the five c was cheaper. The imagine them ever really making that phone that no, they're not. And that's not. So I think that people win the five c with expert. We're disappointed this year. Expeditions are different. I think they can reuse the Siebrand and not and not fail like the the c. the five c did. So I think it's an opportunity to bring some color and fun back into the line. And I'm all for that. I think all their products should be were colorful. Look, you know, Jason Celena agree on this, like everything's have more options, but it seems like that's only going to be true in this sort of lower level phone, which is fine. How many calls do you think. I think we could see. Well, obviously we'll see a black and white or silver or whatever space, grand sales space. Right then what then maybe two others. So maybe like a red and blue or I don't know. I don't know. I don't know about the gold or not just because that's going to be new on the flagship. Maybe they don't want that to be on the lesser phone. So you know, you bought the the most expensive one if it comes in that gold finish, but who knows? Who knows that's like a wildcard, like until you know, maybe a day before the event will see somebody leak a bunch of boxes that have all the colors on them, which probably be what happens. But outside of that, I think that's really hard to guess. But I don't think it's gonna be crazy. Like at the five c came in five colors. I don't know if it's gonna be that many, but who knows a lot of calls. I have a fun one for you guys. Can we also try to guess the name of the next apple designs system on chip, and I'm going to go. Oh, to go. We the apple eight, twelve nitro. All right. Can we can we just get a breakdown of what they've been cold.
