"Your host of none and welcome back I. believe it is Marvel Episodes, Heaven Today and we're GONNA be talking about Captain America three civil war. Now, this is a very special movie. for many and. You know spoiler alert for me. It's probably one of my favorites if not my favorite MCI? Movie. That isn't th ordinary thor Ragnarok. Obviously Thura ignore because a masterpiece. You. Know there's just something about this movie those a message, a message of unity, but also ongoing sort of discourse over the famous Benjamin. Franklin. quote. I'm butchering the quote. I'M GONNA paraphrase. To do with giving up freedom for security. but this idea, this concept this. Notion of. The balance the very fine line of balance between security and freedom. It's something that rings through today. But it also. Has Been a very important issue for a long time. you know what comes to mind is the Patriot Act but. For now, in sort of a more contemporary way, would be their relation of this sort of notion of. Security and freedom with. A more. Sort of less security in terms of like. Autos. Confrontation and defense and more security in terms of public health. you know there's an issue of freedoms over each other's safety That, you know we're not. Doing too well on in America right now it's. The the virus is still real people still out there. Protesting against wearing masks, it's The point being it's a very universal issue that deserves you know tackling on every front and I think this. While it isn't necessarily directly associated with everything that's going on I think the underlying message and the themes in the conflict between these two ideas. Explored in this movie are something. That, you know. Is Very important Through all time. But without further ado, let's get into Captain America's civil. War. So this movie opens in Two Thousand Sixteen right and two thousand sixteen was sort of like a battle year in terms of you know there were battle movies with the Superhero. UNIVERSES. Captain America's civil war, obviously as well as Batman versus Superman of justice. but also offscreen, you know there was a battle between the DC and marvel fans. One of the greatest benefits of the Internet is that allows everyone to sort of connect and talk about their enthusiasm for various Nisha elements of pop culture not to say that awful movies niche by any sort of means but you know that sort of es and ability to communicate your opinions and you know the finding of community in these very large volumes of opinion sometimes. It leads to Phenomenon of tribalism. You know it. Also breeds troll culture. and this sort of division and the frenzy of. Competition made these fan bases sort of toxic in this year. These are the same types of people that boycotted movies like the all-female Ghostbusters of twenty sixteen. They to find any fault with the film rather than face the face the fact that they just didn't like it because it was a movie. Featuring main predominantly female cast. You know there's People that find any opportunity to do what they can praise the DC extended universe. At the expense of the very successful and very. Practical fundamentally better marvel cinematic universe because you can't be found of both you have to be a fan of one or the other. It's the same thing. With the Star Wars movies, you know fans angrily sort of. Rebelled against a star wars after the last Jedi failed to meet their extraordinary expectations. They also boycott movies like Captain Marvel because got like Bree Larsen Ashmore Diversity in blockbuster films. And they wanted a remake of game of thrones because they didn't like last season. than. nother. Think about it I'm one of those people. I get very passionate about game of thrones. I didn't enjoy the last season I think that one's. I. Guess It's a little. Understandable, it's reasonable. But certain themes in these toxic emerge all the time. There's a hatred of diversity hatred of women There's a bunch of entitlement you know is a ridiculous idea that new installments of series can diminish previous installments and it makes no sense to me. Twenty sixteen it was the year that everyone established sort of how bad pop culture fandom become. and. Obviously, you know being one of the biggest companies in the world and one of the most prolific creators of media that's permeated all of our lives is Disney. So Disney was often at the storm of this negativity. You know they knew how to make blockbusters and they were dominant. and. While most of their successes sort of game from their animated features. Success. Has Been Sort of ingrained in Disney for a really long time. But Live Action Disney films. They were a bit less reliable. But Disney combated that by making some very important. Acquisitions, you know they bought Marvel entertainment two, thousand, nine, they started. Distributing all of MC's films a day. Then also bought Lucasfilm and Star Wars They released the new star. Wars. Trilogy and out of the top. Ten highest earning films of the year two, thousand, sixteen five were distributed by Disney. There's a reason Disney now owns about thirty four percent of the big Hollywood studio market. you know they're the biggest company in media. At least. Entertainment. It's. Their massive the sizes it's Incomprehensible..

Everything we know about The Rock's antihero movie 'Black Adam'

"Okay, So the rock, right? I'm already interested. No, right. This is I mean, this is dark too. I think and quote unquote heavy. So are you familiar with black Adam? I am not so black. Adam is a fictional character who appears in the DC comics. And I guess he first appeared as a one time villain. For the first issue of the Marvel family comic book in like 1945, but Black Adam was revived. Ah has a recurring character. After D C comics first licensed and then acquired faucet characters, blah, blah, blah. Then it just goes, they begin publishing what was the captain? Marvel family stories? And she exam so it goes back to all of that, and he was a corrupted ancient Egyptian predecessor of Captain Marvel. Okay? So black, Adam fought his way to modern times to challenge the hero and his Marvel Family associates. But now he's been redefined by DC comics writers. And so he is going to be black Adam, who is ranked as whose I G n Idea. It's like a movie website. OK, 16th greatest comic book villains of all time. So so he's going to be a villian. Interesting. Well, you know what in wrestling fans will remember this aboutthe rock? He plays a great A great villain because he was hell for many years, meaning like a bad guy, okay? And and he was fantastic as a hell still likeable, Which makes him sort of like an anti hero, but but really, really good. So So if you're having trouble thinking, we'll wait. The rock is always so winsome and always the good guy. He could play the bad guy in a way that there will be some people rooting for the bad guy sort of not Not in the same way in terms of what the performance will be like. But you know, Heath Ledger's turn. Is the Joker in the Dark knight. You're You're like you want another joker senior, like, Bring back the Joker. I want to see Joker get ultimately you're hoping for good to win out. But I wonder if the rock as a quote unquote villain will have

Marvel’s Avengers DLC Characters Leaked

"There's been a massive avengers data mine leak. This is from sub Reddit user six plus four equals fifty two on the marvels vendors sub Reddit fifteen unannounced characters have reportedly been data mined from the Marvel's avengers bad. And before we get into it, I gotta Say I'm pretty excited about this like this game I'm. AM. Higher on it than I ever thought I would have been after playing it but I'm still not where I. Wish I was you. You're talking about what the Batman Games like I wish this was just a single player vendors game, but it's not we're getting this online multiplayer. From what from what I've played it like the single player Linnea Thurs cinematic stuff is definitely the stuff I've enjoyed most but like this list is exciting for the same reason that I was really excited to find out the model was going to be essentially the main character of the story which is yeah. Give some love to some of these characters that haven't been big enough to be MC you. Staples yet like those are the gangs that are going to get the people come list I'm excited out totally, and before I even read the list I, WanNa point out that we're in a very interesting place with marvel right now when it comes to licensing their characters out both for movies for TV stuff but mainly for video games is what I'm talking about because what we've seen in the last. Five six years have been some pretty interesting and. Not Great Decisions made on the licensing front of Marvel versus Capcom Infinite for example, where it was very clear that marvel had a heavy hand in what characters are chosen not chosen like having no X. Men in that game is just San. Right, that's the thing is there's definitely wild model has only been interested can use it to mock it the MC you otherwise, we don't really care like. You don't want. We don't want to get it. If it's one of the properties that like show, we can put the X. men in a game, but someone else owns the film tonight. So why would we totally and that's I think where we really getting hit with X. men minute fantastic four particular but. He's not just above marvel studios, but he's also kind of above marvel as a whole. I think we're GONNA start seeing a lot more synergy in a way that doesn't feel as a things are being excluded but more as like a well rounded thing to get people more familiar with the smaller characters or different characters smaller not even the right. That, we might not used to seeing constantly constantly constantly. With Mc, you can say that Oh the EMC you. Is only focusing on the same things. Then you introduced the world to guardians of the galaxy so it's like They're doing great stuff too. But so looking at the list here, we got AAH man the Wasp Vision Black Panther Doctor Strange Falcon Marvel mockingbird quake winter soldier scarlet Captain Marvel Kate. Bishop. She Hulk and machine. Pretty Great List yeah definitely, there's a few really good ones on that like I I'm really excited at that. Kate. Bishop is on that because. Clearly the better Hawkeye. More. Interesting character by alone shot. Kate Bishop does not get enough love and I'm very to see that like, yeah. Yeah. Get

‘Captain Marvel 2’: ‘Candyman’s Nia DaCosta To Direct Sequel

"Sequel has found its director Nia DaCosta, which means that will be the first Marvel movie directed by a black woman. Marble housing women behind the camera before the first Captain Marvel Movie was co directed by Anna Boden and Black Panther was directed by Ryan Coogler Black Man, but it's the first time a black woman will take the reins on one of cinema's highest grossing franchise films, move some say is long overdue. DaCosta recently directed the highly anticipated horror sequel Candyman written and produced by Jordan Peele, which was supposed to be out earlier this year but is now scheduled for October release. Welcome to Dumpuary: Breaking Down a Bad Movie Buffet

"But first let's talk about what is dumped ury in your mind. It's the time when the bad movies come out. Yes well see now. Historically that is January and February but as we get older and movies get arguably worse. Dump ury exists across many months. It's true there are a couple seasons. There is the January February and then traditionally it was August was another truly. I don't know what the Portmanteau is for bad movies and August a Gar- bug St- okay. Great Okay Congratulations. But now people have seen that August is a time to maybe release an interesting movie and so the bad movies sometimes come out in June last year it was actually may and sometimes it correspond to the quality of the movie and sometimes it corresponds to just like box office totals and when people feel like going to the movies but there is it traditional understanding that if a movie is scheduled for late. January or early February and it's not like a seam movie if it's not like a romance for Valentine's Day or I guess there's usually some horror counter programming for Valentine's Day but if it's just a movie that's coming out in the first quarter there's a reason especially if it seems like a big movie if it seems like a big noisy tentpole movie that you've been hearing about for a long time and it arrives in February that means it's been hunted to February more than likely now the the movie calendars changed a lot like the first two to three weeks of October. Is now this really important corridor? Where movies like joker in a star is born. Go into in there with the expectation. They can be big hits. That wasn't true ten years ago so the calendar is always evolving. And we've had some good February's in the past February I believe is when get out was released so it's not like there aren't great movies potentially released into this period but the other thing that is going on here is that we have a truncated. Oscar season so normally on this show. At this time on this date we would be doing predictions. Yeah you know it would be if we were leaning into this weekend coming forward but with Oscar being moved up. We've got this vast open window before whatever. The next movie is which is a bit later this year. Also in the past few years there had been mc you creep and that started in April and then even Marta. I think Captain Marvel was March last. I think you're right so it's a real vacuum it really is. And that's the other thing one other version of ury which is all of the movies surrounding the biggest movie of the year. So if you look at the release schedule last year around the time of vendors and game not super great and if you were forced to make say podcast episodes about movies around that time and not talk about endgame. You'd a tough time.

The Entertainment of 2019: Year in Review

"It interesting year for of the world of entertainment and in terms of the movie screen to get to this explosion of Netflix and all these other different platforms you don't have to go to the big movie theater unless you want the full immersive experience and I always suggest you also get some cookies because as the time of the year but just I think the wives with you enjoy the experience but but I know some of the things the fact you have this posted on your website James person dot com is the ruling over a declining box office because here we have all this if you know the big money is made international especially China will than that with the whole trade the issues going back and forth the editing of certain films so what's going on here is this eventually the demise of the traditional box office expectations in the traditional theaters another been saying that for years with new technology well it it's being yeah it's shrinking kind of traditional movie other than the big franchise brand box office because even though the box office has gone down for the fifth time this decade it's down a record number and the executives and the Hollywood met and many of them I work with they are living in a kind of a denial world I I they know that if these two technological things are you spoke about the fact that you can have a very powerful home theater experience now you know with everybody has a big screen high definition television you're bringing some robots was a I they could pretend like they're part of the crowd you know they can make noise going on cell phones whatever you like yeah but usually because Disney bought Lucasfilm and marble and they have all the biggest intellectual property ownership concept movies they took eighty percent of the top ten so the top ten films of the year eight out of the ten from Disney that's a record Disney also took in ten billion dollars worldwide in their film box office which is also a record but at the same time the box office is down the number of people go to the movies is down and I think it's not just because of the technology I think it's because of the contact and I think what it is is that there's these old concepts things like story characters people long for in his words of Martin Scorsese got highly criticized for speaking out against Marvel superhero movies but there there are more of like a thrill ride in many cases than they are white the kind of story telling that Hollywood became famous for and so because of that you know like the number one movie by actually number one movie of the year and of all time is the ventures and gag which is always the classic not that it's it's a bad movie I mean it's an entertaining movie buddy it's it's all action special effects sci fi superhero fantasy type thing and the others get in the top ten there's captain Marvel there's spider man far from home with the Star Wars the latest Star Wars wars installment the risers creek sky worker these are all from the same bill during it yet all marble or Lucasfilm in there these kinds of movies many of course you have sequels like Toy Story four and frozen was it the golden read books and we're gonna get more and more is that all is well yeah but some of that you get to the new generations and its radio Disney used to do as a by the way for the tuning in talking James person Jim person dot com is my second house over a pop culture among other things but you know Disney had a formula for years back to real DHS and everything else stay AT and into the theaters before that alone every seven years or so they would release like Snow White or something and then they'd go back into the vault and the they keep capturing new generations was masterful now one of the big deals this year's Disney plus the debt is just phenomenal with with what's there you don't really need a lot of other things but it's it's it's all available now so that's another example of how quickly the staff changes your inner exactly what you're talking about by the way for new generations of a new iteration was the remake it with live action The Lion King which was the number two movie any captured a whole new generation of of movie that had captured a previous generation so yeah Disney has the intellectual property so that when they launch their streaming service Disney plus they did something that a lot of people in Hollywood one really freaked out about and then they had a a movie starring Anna Kendrick cold no well it was never released in any it went direct to streaming we haven't even heard that concept direct just dreaming twenty one Disney does it then the people in the industry say oh my gosh this is a trend in the Irish men bad movie that's generating all the on her because of her the foreman should Martin Scorsese unfortunately it has that crazy man Robert De Niro at that but he's consistent and you got a treatment because his movie the molar report on ice the musical didn't do well this year so what is so loved that concept I really do I really do and I I would have given them the Laurie yeah I would go see that if Robert Muller was ice skating I would go see it for sure but but this one it went there was a lady and the tramp remake Disney which and that way director strict streaming I was mentioning the Irishman and there's another movie called marriage is story these are both Oscar bait movies after only one month they went streaming so there could be a new trend in that's good that caters to people that create their own entertainment peered at home and but the only thing is I mean I anecdotally I mean I have friends an average six myself I remember you know we were when we just had cable and all of a sudden we had out hundreds of cable channels and sitting there and I couldn't find anything to watch on cable channel and now people experience that they say oh I'm going through the cable channels I'm going through Netflix I don't see anything I want to watch so I'm gonna watch it's a wonderful life for the eighteen hi so that means there's a vacuum out there for I guess what we would call traditional entertainment and maybe family friendly which is by the way in the end that's where Hollywood makes most of its money because all the top ten films are pretty much the you know there there's no all over you friendly films at the most there's a P. G. thirteen type superhero films that have some action scenes chill Hollywood makes its money with family friendly films and then they attack families with the awards speaking of

Despite box office domination, Disney's earnings disappoint

"I'm kim masters and this is the hollywood breakdown joining me as bellany of the hollywood reporter and matt <hes> this past week disney reported its earnings and they were disappointing disappointing despite disney having basically devoured the box office with ventures game in captain marvel and toy story foreign hit after hit lion king in the future <hes> their stock took a little shot and the reason according to chairman bob eiger and was that twenty th century fox they acquired the company and fox fox has left a couple of duds in the pipeline that really hurt of disney's bottom line. You're not just a couple of duds but he really took aim at the entire fox fox film studio strategy. He basically said that the new management disney was going to rectify some of the problems that imply quote discipline to the movie making process. I mean you look back. This is the first quarter that the fox assets were being counted against disney earnings and judging from what whatever said it seemed to surprise them how much trouble the film division was in and he cited dark phoenix. He started a couple of other big pricey bombs that were left them now. Obviously this is in his interest to do you know they had an earnings miss so you've gotta explain it somehow and it was very convenient for him to be able to point a finger at this company money that they absorbed but it does ring true if you look at some of the box office performance of these films in the fox studio had kind of been in this middling you know they had a couple of franchises but not those billion dollar franchises and they had pricey mrs dark phoenix and x. men movie that didn't do much at the box office. That was very pricey a._c. Miss i tried to walk a line sort of saying that we're taking over in. It's all going to be good now. We're redefining fox's film strategy and meanwhile meanwhile i'm not blaming anybody because it was hard for them. Over there you know there was all this talk for months and months and months about a takeover and maybe they took their eye off the ball was the implication kevin however you know if you're emma watts the one upper level fox film executive to survive this because the chairman of the fox studio stacey snider didn't make the move to disney disney. You gotta be feeling a little bit like there's a bullseye painted on you although he eicher did say <hes> you know i'm not blaming any individual yeah. I don't see how you feel comfortable and you know there. Is this question now. What is fox. It's a pared down version of itself. They're gonna make up. Maybe a ten movies but half of those are supposed to be for the streaming service. I am not quite clear yet. Who's in charge of what <hes> i. It's just been a pretty rough ride. Yeah fox's now illegal under disney just like marvel just like pixar lucasfilm and it's going to be treated as such but let's talk about a different topic here at disney which is wasn't just fox that dragged them down. They we are spending like crazy to launch the streaming service that it's going to go live later this year. Call disney plus and it's going to be the future of the company. They're trying to compete with netflixing. It's not just the disney library stuff all the children's movies and the marvel movies that are gonna go to disney plus. It's going to be new stuff stuff like a star wars series stuff like marvel original series and that's costing them a lot of money and they're not seeing any benefit to that and i talked about this in the past that the disney board is on board for his strategy which is to spend big now an end some of these lucrative licensing deals to own the direct to consumer experience and compete in the streaming world and that's gonna cost money and it's going to drag down earnings for a while yeah i mean at the idea is short term pain for long-term gain which of course leads to the perennial question. What what's it's going to happen with. Netflixing is going to really hurt net flicks. We're seeing signs of that already and we are watching an industry transform before our eyes. Thank you matt thank you. That's matt bellamy editorial director of the hollywood reporter. He joins me this monday at one thirty on the business. I'm kim masters and this is the hollywood breakdown.

"The MTV movie and TV awards last night for what they're worth. It's a good night for Disney and marvel movies best movie of injures into game best hero, Robert Downey junior. Tony stark iron man in ventures in game best villain. Josh Brolin fan hosts in ventures in game. And best fight was not Marvel's avengers in game. It was captain marvel versus Minerva. So on Disney films, they're getting nuts. Surprisingly or not surprisingly, in TV side, the final season of game of thrones, best TV show. However, even the thrones got shut out in every other Ted television categories. So. A little bit of love for game of thrones, but not not a whole lot, some of the other winners out their best performance in a movie, the non gender specific best actor goes to lady Gaga in a star is born and best scary movie actor category. Phoenix, James Mcevoy And Captain Marvel discussed on Collider Movie Talk

"This first story is about dark Phoenix. And last summer, we learned the dark Phoenix was going back to Montreal for re-shoots. But sources told us at that time that contrary to reports a whopping three months of additional photography. That's a lot right there. They were simply going back for two and a half weeks of re-shoots on the third act of the movie. However, now we're finding out that, that might not. Have been the case in April. We found out the dark Knicks, the dark Phoenix ending was being changed in re-shoots from a space setting to a climax that finds the X men kidnapped and on a military train. Now, we've got James McEvoy telling Yahoo UK that the ending was changed because it was too similar to another superhero. Movie, here's the exact quote the end of dark v. Necks changed a hell of a lot the finale head to change. There was a lot of overlap and parallels with another superhero movie that came out a while ago. And we had no idea that we were dot dot dot com. Trailed off their you know the quote just ended. So let's jump into this, but before I even ask for your opinions, we gotta check the live chat, because there are a lot of people chiming in on whether or not they're planning on even seeing dark, Phoenix. David Jordan, Darrow says got my tickets already reviews. Don't stop me from seeing any DC or marvel movie has called for twenty said got mine. I ten minutes they went on sale. Sale. Kyle Johnson says I'll probably get my tickets next week going in cautiously optimistic. So back to that, quote now what movie do you think James McEvoy was referring to is pretty obvious was captain marvel especially when we talk about the difference in design of dark Phoenix, Jean grey taking away, making less flamy more different in that approach? So it seems to imply plus the train sequence we saw in captain marvel we have that in the trailers, and of course in the movie as well. So maybe there was a lot of that involved here as well. Trying to take away any kind of reference to cap the most he was the most obvious choice. Yeah. Especially when you consider the change in the setting of the third act to from cosmic to on a military train moving away from the cosmic aspect, and that's the thing that before Jeff Thompson here. I don't know if I buy this explanation to be honest with you have a couple of sources who saw this movie early cuts move in March of twenty eighteen and they tell me that the ending was already on earth. So I don't know if this is their way of. Hey, we pitched you space movie, but we had to change it because of that. And so now it's on the ground, I wonder if they're doing a little PR to cover their butts. I don't know. But it seems odd to me that they would say, oh, we're just gonna put it on the ground. Now. We don't want it to be Spacey when people had seen in the first an early cut of this film, and it was already on the ground in front of a certain monument in New York. So I dunno. I thought it was aqua man now there it is. Yeah. I you know, are you signing that sarcastic? It's nice. I don't know what the original ending was. I don't know what the new ending is other than it's on a train. I have no idea what movie could. All right. So even though we don't know specifically how dark Phoenix is going to end nor should we really right now before we even see the movie another question that comes from the story is should a movie even be changed for this reason. Because to me, it sounds like oh, hey. Maybe they should have taken a little more time to develop the story creatively so that you don't run the risk of having. Other movies out there being too similar to your own. That's a good point. Yeah. I don't know. I feel like we saw two different asteroid movies, we've seen to differ Truman Capote moves. It doesn't matter. It's about quality. Can you deliver the goods, even though the you may vote another movie? I don't think it really matters. It's a matters. Can you do it? Well, that's what as at the end of the day, a lot of movies have seen that feel similar to other movies, but they do a distinctly different and make it work with the organic structure of their movie. So I, I don't think it's a way to change things. Dark Phoenix was originally slated to come out before captain marvel anyway, right? So it's like they kind of had they beat captain marvel tha that ending. So why did they switch you know they don't think it's train. Yeah. Something, something doesn't add up to me. And this goes back to Jeff Snyder, the reporters number one rule for being a reporter, which is don't believe anything in actor tells you don't know anything. Well. To be fair. There's there's no to being there to James McEvoy. Things that were debating right now, whether or not their true aren't the specific things that James McEvoy pointed out and said the finale had to change. He was in saying, you know, we changed it from the cosmic thing to the, the trains. Right to stick to maga- voice, quote. I am of the mind that if it is, too similar than than. Yeah. I'm okay with a change. I'm okay with them thinking we have to change this differentiate ourselves in distinguish ourselves in the marketplace, particularly not being a movie that's going to do as well as captain marvel. If that is, in fact, the movie that we're talking about here. So I'm I am sensitive to those creative issues and I don't blame Kimber for wanting to go back and tinker with it. But yeah, I'm with you John, that a lot of this. This is just so much PR on the entire X men franchise, including the next film, which we'll talk about soon, which I don't really fault them at because this is a lame duck superhero film, none of these actors are going to come back and play these characters again, in the MC you Disney and Disney marvel trying to recoup as much as they can from this film. So they're doing this PR pushing I wouldn't put it past someone like McEvoy or fast bender to, like, okay, I'm going to speak about. These are the points. We'd like goes to hit. Okay. I'll do it as part of the PR programs. Part of promoting the movie. No prob. Problem. But I don't fault them. They want to make as much as possible gonna talk about new means a little bit. Same thing. They're just on recoup as much possible for they move on. I got. No. I don't fault them. I just wish I just think people can see through this.

"And if you're not going to see it because of like, you know, if you hate rehearse on whatever it doesn't matter like just go see it for it self. And I mean there were so many YouTube videos that I wa- like people were sending me like, oh this person has some valid points. And I was watching them. And then like after I saw the movie I was like all of those rants were completely dumb. Every single thing that they were like, oh, this is the problem that it's going to have none of them had like the movie didn't have those problem. See what I laughed about? There was this one guy who sent me a video about he he knows that. I'm a data and Ernie's like, hey this. This captain marvel fan right here has gone out and gone through and crunch the numbers from rotten, tomatoes and rotten tomatoes lying about the numbers. And I'm like hang on. So I double checked his work. Let's just say that YouTube video did not stand up to peer reviewed research. All right. So yeah, go see the movie, captain, marvel is awesome. There's a lot of fun things that even if you just don't like captain marvel there's a lot of fun things about them. See you and go see it. It's all real fun movie. Couple of non spoiler readings about more non-salary things about this is so I went and saw guardians of the galaxy with my dad who was who was tiled of seventies. And he left that movie just loving the movie because of the soundtrack. Oh, yeah. And as a child of the nineties, so nineties music was a little bit more all over the place than seventies music was. But there were a couple a couple songs in there that I was like, oh my gosh. This is perfect. And this isn't a stall GIC waterfall started playing. I was like, oh, I heard the song so much. I don't wanna hear it. Now. I don't want to chase anymore. Waterfalls TLC. I think just a girl was the perfect song legitimately could not have picked a better on. That was perfect. That said if you have if you have a better song that you would have picked Iran scene. Yeah. You're wrong. Don't write in and tell us. Oh. And that's Taylor who always asked people to read it until us. So all right. All right. So so I think the if if you ever wanted to experience what the people who went and saw guardians of the galaxy and grew up in the seventies experienced, and if you grew up in the nineties, this is very much a similar vibe. I think from there now another, and this is another thing that's tied to guardians the galaxy. There's a lot of things tied the guardians of the galaxy and movie just because it's the space cosmic stuff. But this one is tied to it in the fact that is not a goofy comedy the way that gardens the galaxy. Because after the first guardians of the galaxy came out set a mold for the marvel cinematic universe. Thor ragnarok, followed it Spiderman spider-man's always been funny in quickey. But there there's so much more comedy in the after gardens out now at the same time. It was also around the same time that marvel and DC were. Seemingly feuding a bit in DC was we're not gonna have any humor because these are darkened serious movies and marbles said fine. We're gonna show you world down our humor. This movie was funny without being goofy. And with the with the aliens that were in this one it would have been very easy to go goofy..

"Very few people's chances. What is their motivation? That's the question they lady hitter haters. Do they do the same thing with Ghostbusters Ghostbusters deserve oceans eight also? Did he want your lever reviewing run tomatoes, fifty eight thousand people's chances are one or two people in this room? Probably did it. Okay. No-one did our people want to do that. All right. So let's talk about marvel, and what it is, and captain marvel and whether it's good or not because that's the point of this exercise. What are your thoughts on captain marvel where do you rank it in terms of good or bad? I should say I was reading this movie for obvious reasons. Obvious about woman, you don't like with strong female characters groupers actually starts strong female. All I'm not a giant marble guy. Just kind of I'm not I wish I was. And when people are laughing and clapping in the theater, I feel like I'm missing out on something which kind of gives me foam. But then I get rid of it because I don't wanna know like at the end credits, which Brian didn't see, but people were bugging stoked when that happened in the end credits won't ruin it for anybody. But I was like what why are you guys so excited, right? I did stay for the mid credit sequence. I didn't stay for the pump. And I to the Email Giovanni and say why are people happy about that? I didn't know. All right. I was prepared to hate this movie. And I didn't hate it. That's probably the best thing. I could say about it. Yeah. I took me about twenty minutes to actually accept it. She was fantastic. She was as cool as any marble male character out there that I've ever seen before. I liked her more than Chris Pratt cooler than many marvel many many mobile. I liked the villains. We gotta be careful not to give anything away on this, obviously. Because the number of you have not seen it, and you will be seeing it. But by the time, it was ending though shoe out to say like mohawk and white is I I hated that a lot. Yeah. It was it was a little grinchey. It really made me cringe. And that's kind of like things that concerns me. But all the stuff that had no mohawk. No white is. I really enjoyed. I like to thought it was a good movie. Maybe not a great movie. Eighty percent. Sounds about right. Maybe a little higher. It's feels much more like a Star Trek movie than a marvel movie for much of it. It's like an update Star Trek. Although there. The same sort of story orchestra trekking the flight academy and all that stuff. And yeah, I liked it a little better maybe than block panther. Of the black man not nearly as much as guardians of the galaxy. Or maybe like a dead pool or what else? What else could you're right. That's right. Ortho Irag Narok because when no doubt I'm just a girl came on like also floated about one in a bowl. I wish I had her power because I would just write out the ceiling the movies, the movie set in the mid nineties, and it does take a lot of advantage of some of the girls. So on the knows I don't know if they're seen anything that was that on the note what we call it what they call needle drops. We're like the music the soundtrack kicks in when like some certain action kicks in and are certain points starts to kick some assets. And no doubt. I'm just a girl. Just kicks in space. It's not like a jukebox pariah. All right. It's not music. Anyway, it's it's kind of movie certain certain things work and certain things. Don't movies exceptionally preachy to moral movies are known to be preaching there of the time. But this one gets per reach e exceptionally preachy is all about border, walls, essentially and think about refugees we've got to see her badly poorly. By males growing up throughout the movie like engaged. Forgot men can be Dick's to women sometimes special little girls, and they tell them you can't do anything. We get it. We get it's she overcame a lot. It's kind of a buddy movie like the first half is like her Jude lobbying buddies, and then it's like Sam Jackson..

"You know, anything about her I read as much as I could of the chapter of your book Caroline, on of course, on captain marvel and I saw reference to Monica Rambo, eventually becoming captain marvel in some of the later comic books. Cool. So so the first. Captain marvel is Marv L who is, you know, Annette Benning except in the comic sees a guy, but he's still have that kind of semi short gray hair. So when they showed an bending with the grey hair. I was like. But but then he dies of cancer. And he doesn't come back, which is unusual in comics because everybody comes back from the dead. And then in nineteen eighty two Monica Rambo becomes the second captain marvel, and it's not because she has anything to do with the create it actually doesn't really make a lot of sense. But like cheese harbor patrol Lieutenant in bla-bla-bla explosion, blah, blah, blah. She basically has those kinds of powers and the media labels her captain marvel, and then she meets the avengers in. They're like, why are you calling yourself captain marvel, and she's like, I don't know they called me that and they're like will, you know, our buddy, captain marvel just died. She's like, no didn't know that. Sorry. Rep here. She beckoned care for marble, her outfit is white and black. But in the Scott that same star in the middle. Yeah. Oh, cool. She's got a like natural hair. Which is also nice. That's amazing. We're back then and she leads the avengers like through into the night into the like, the late eighties, and whatever and then in the nineties suddenly Marvel's sun shows up and declares that he's captain marvel Monica's like, okay, I guess I'll call myself photon instead. Okay. I'm a man. I'm Jeanie Loftus. I'm like. I'm photon, Jamie. Kennedy comes along, and he's like, my name has been Jamie Loftus this whole like fine. I'm photon. Changing. So that's why Maria Rambeau on her plane at said Maria photon Rambo, I think so probably what they're setting up is that twenty years into the future. The when the avengers movie is taking place. Monica would be the right age to be photon. Okay. Cool cool. Okay. And to be glowing and stuff like that. And so so she's photon and she works with other avengers and all that kind of stuff. And at that time, Carol is still MS marvel, and then there's all kinds of stuff that happens, and she's an alcoholic, and they made her an alcoholic. So Tony stark iron man could be here. AA sponsor. Books. Are so weird coming there's drama. Goes on like that until two thousand twelve when they relaunch his captain marvel so she is really the fourth captain marvel Carol, and when they really started it's the character really took off very quickly. But there were definitely an understandably some Monica Rambo fans who were like Carol danvers is not the first female, captain marvel. My art you promoting Monica wire all your heroes, white, you know, right? So so in the comics Kelly, sue de Connick who really kinda launched this version of captain marvel that you see in the movie, and she was a consultant on the movie and had a cameo and stuff she made sure to kind of bring Monica Rambeau into the captain, marvel comics in there's this ark where the two of them worked together in their buddies. And they're on a team together later and stuff interested. They should work together. Yeah. Caroline, keep in every episode is superior hose. This is the context I crave app you to help with the crazy history. But it is. I mean, it's very telling that whenever these movies get adapted. The choices always or usually seem to be. Let's make sure our heroes are male SIS hetero, white right able bodied. Yeah. And when you look at the numbers, I mean, I sort of added him up, right? So if you count all superhero movies from two thousand to twenty nineteen and then even count the ones in development about ten percents. Start women. And last I checked our world was not ninety percent white SIS gender, non queer non-disabled men. Thank god. No. The nightmare. That would be. It's actually about the same for superhero. TV shows the ones that are out now in the ones that are coming in the next few years..

I'm really excited to hear more about the character as well. Because I am not super familiar with the MC you. Tell but affected I called captain marvel at one of the X men, but you, but you ended vertically said something accurate because there was a point at which she almost joined the x men in the eighties. So we'll just pretend you knew that have a really deep knowledge. And so was better deep cuts. That's I wouldn't hear that. I my history is side from seeing the movie twice now. Brag. Is I admittedly did not know that captain marvel was a character or comic book until I saw the trailer for this movie, which we can kind of later on pack. How you know a lot of the superheroes. Who are women don't really make it to the mainstream or like over popular properties. But yeah, we can we can talk about that a little for sure legged her I didn't. I mean, I enjoyed the movie. I was sitting two seats away from like kids, and they were so excited. Oh, that's great. Oh like in that way. You're just I'm like almost cry. And that way, I think it's great. And there was like a lot of young boys and girls at moving and they were all site. Right. And it's like, yes, I have my critiques. But in general, I think is a good movie to have in the world and have kids seen agree. Yeah. Yes. I also. I'm like, I thought it was good. It was fine. It wasn't great. Now that I've seen Spiderman into the spider verse six times. I just feel a little underwhelmed by every other superhero than new magic good. But no, there's there's a lot to compare women to men as much as possible. To do that. Anyway, should we do the recap? Sure. Okay. So we meet Veer's that's broiler since character. I stand relearn said, yes, I love real arson. Big fan. Big STAN she lives on planet Hala with the Cree people. Sure, she has a power she like energy comes out of her fists. She fights Jude law, and she's stronger than him, and she doesn't have any memory of her past from before she arrived on Cree and Caroline does this lineup..

"He's done unless you put it back on her do something magical. Right. So here's the thing. Carol dampers, which makes you're such a cool character. She is a bad ass both in fighting and mentality. If anyone's going to rip off spawns head she. She will she has a history of being that kind of bad ass battle. So the captain marvel superman like powers strength speed, durability her ability to shoot as well to absorb all fours of energy, including magical and her ability to upgrade to super say. I mean binary where overpowers at least double strength and capability. There's no way that spawned wins this battle, and that's my point number three. Wow. Those are definitely words. I want to understand three James gap. So your point is that. Binary captain marvel gains all the powers of captain marvel. I'm already established. These powers aren't good enough to defeat. Spawn. Let me let me. With more powerful at the same thing. It's still gonna work rate. Let me ask you question. Okay. Let's say you go to the gym for a workout. We all know that doesn't happen. But let's say constantly K. You go to bench fresh your max, let's say that's what do you think that is defined take a quick look at Ray. What's your what four digit number to come up with minus one hundred and thirty six point five? We think he's not a week. I by the way, he looks fairly strong fairly. So let's say he's been pressing except your compliment. You're welcome. Like, let's say you're benching two hundred pounds. Okay. I walk in and I can bench press more, right? Let's just say can bench press the eighteen thousand times more that. That's what binary does it's not that. She has the same powers is that her ability to take on Spahn to absorb that energy to bench press that Turner pounds is increased to be able to bench press that whenever we're pounds her ability to absorb magical energy or naturally increases as well. And her speed really goes up as well. And I think as amazing. Spun is because he is and his ability to stop time. You got to kind of know who you're stopping time against who. You're facing someone who can travel at the speed of light. You're not going to be tracking that well. So that's my rebuttal. And that's fine. I wasn't actually finished yet. Just a recap one quick thing before you do render my verdict in favor of me. Still have it necessarily even spoke to the ability to put captain marvel in a pocket dimension, which okay, fine. He didn't do it to God. Apparently, which he did whatever. I also wanna this to capitated thing. That is absolutely correct. That is a possibility is captain marvel known to Capitaine is she is she known as a blade stress one who would remove heads with knives and sharp, edges she wouldn't need blades. She can literally rip spawns head off. I mean, she is that power, especially as binary can has she done it. That's a great question. I'm not saying she has is it out of the realm impossibility because she is that insane of fighter and has kind of tally. It's not outside the room possibility possible shirt heroic. She's a very heroic character who probably would not result in decapitation. If the heck she could help it. I think. Yeah. So what pocket dimension thing? Like like, what was your argument against that? Is that you've got to be able to see your opponent and kind of be at a certain, I'm not I don't wanna say like health, but a certain ability to be able to do it as hers binary, right? She'll be traveling so fast with an ability to absorb. Energy that is exponentially increased so spot will be losing strength while she's moving it super speed and gaining strength and to rebuttal quickly. And this'll be my last point all of that is happening. She's flying around the race track. At the speed of light. That's fine spun knee just stop time we established. He can he can go straight down to hell and then reappear wherever the heck captain marvel is because he has that supernatural ability to go basically wherever he needs to at a given moment and part three takes Cape right over the head..

"Jameson on a women's magazine is true, j Jonah Jameson believed that the magazine should focus on things, quote, unquote, relevant to women's lives like dieting and fashion instead under damage leadership the mazing focused on careers feminism which quickly led to Jameson firing danvers over their differing viewpoints. That was the sixties mind you and now you have the facts on both opponents, Stefan. Do you have any questions before we? Get started. No, I think I'm ready to hear these points. Very cool actually happen before we get going further. Let's do something kind of interesting which version of spongy using I'm using the comic book version of spawn the movie version of spawn would simply not do fair enough fair enough. Although I did like the movie version, but the movie do not get me wrong. Very cool. And I'm using also the current six one six marvel universe version of captain marvel Carol danvers. All right do note. It duly noted. Here we go Ray, please proceed with your first point. Thank you very much, James Gavin. My first point is simply entitled, captain marvel captain marvel what you're gonna do what you're gonna do. With one comes for you. Lovely singing voice, but I've been trained by the best. Who is? The streets the street. Streets or the ultimate. That's where all the best learned house. You not look at Ray and realize that the streets haven't taught him everything at some say the streets are talking. They're also singing. To my first point, captain, marvel is very powerful character. Obviously, she's going to play very strong into the Infinity war endgame, avengers marvel cinematic universe, and that's cute. That's great. I'm glad she's gonna come in and save the day. Because knows is not even close to what spawn is able to do first off captain marvel cannot hurt spawn in any way, shape or form he is her flurry of punches and kicks and body blocks. And oh a little bit of laser beam here and there. Ooh. Howdy, blocks blocks on body blocks. Spawn is nigh invulnerable, and he has a healing factor on top of it not to mention his Cape. If forms a symbiotic relationship with him. So in the off chance that captain marvel even gets off a shot mighty enough to knock spun unconscious..

"That's not deep symbolism. But it sends a message that no man's land. But the women could get across it here. I just don't feel it has that element. It's just about being human. So just a girl. All right again. It's the soundtrack song. A little ahead of its time. But if you're a riot girl, I imagine you are cheering as captain marvel is now invincible she gets shot by a sniper rifle and his like and and with no sweat whatsoever. With her dragon ball z powers because she really looks like live action dragon ball z with all the glory. She is able to stop everybody. She is so powerful there's no threat that could ever possibly stoppard. There's no struggle here at the end. She could kick superman superman at least had to choose between which nuke to stop them and turn the earth BAC where it's gonna stop twenty-five nukes. She's going to stop all the nukes. And here's my issue is again, they could've set it up with the line. Maybe there's a whole cut scene, but if she ever realized real potential, she'd be the most powerful person in the universe like set something up. But no just at the end. She took the little thing off the back of her head. And now she could blow up all the nukes even. Ronin the accusers afraid of her and it's going to run away. I like all this this is, but I wish more of the movie was you feel this is earned though. Like just all of a sudden, she's the most powerful thing ever. I like the idea that the only thing limiting her was her mindset, and that this stupid little thing on the back of her head that she thought was controlling her. Because that's what for me that's kind of what oppression feels like it's voice in the back of your head. That prevents you from acting on your wishes and the idea that it's just as simple as plucking this thing away and saying I'm free is really exciting. I've got no problem with that Stewart. I love the little montage were foll- downfall down fall down. Then stand up stand up stand up and then stands up you love that. I the word ham fisted feminism is what came to mind. I mean, there's a lot of ham fisted feminism in this complain of mine, but I like that moment that didn't feel like a moment about feminism is just this is what you do as a human to be empowered. Is you stand up every time you get knocked out. It's the fact that now if this was a stand. Onofri? It never had a marvel film this random superhero movie or random scifi movie. Okay. You become all powerful your Neo in the matrix at the end flying around. That's fine. But within the context of this universe. They've set up. It's too much power, and it feels unearned and there's no stakes now, she's invincible she can do everything. So she does there's no struggle whatsoever. There's no stakes be that as it may I greatly. Enjoy her taking on the missiles, what I would say is that I don't feel like it's nearly as thrilling wonder woman charging out onto that battlefield and taking the full brunt of all of those bullets that was seeing to truly be an all of here because they've edited the movie the way that it has and so much of the time I've been disconnected with Brie Larssen. I really love her in the mohawk sue doing this. But like it doesn't linger. I don't get the rush that I want now that she is all powerful. And I want to spend time in that. And I feel like they're like, well, you know, we've only got about. Twelve minutes left. That's tidy this up and go to compare to wonder woman. Yes, I like that seen in wonder woman so much better. I would like a little bit of that here. But this is so much better than wonder woman, fighting CGI Aries at the end, at least they didn't go that bad, but CGI captain marvel fighting now, I don't think the effects are I guess Barbara just put all its money in Infinity ward. And because I feel Black Panther had some spotty CGI..

"He knew he put together a response team. He believed they would come together. And I think if they lost the battle of New York he would have hit the button on the pager, but they didn't lose. So you could certainly say that fury had every excuse to hit the button during the Terry invasion or during the Kobe with Altron, and it's it's a valid point. But ultimately, he wasn't wrong to not use the pager because the vendors one, and we also know that it takes captain marble a little bit of time to get back because. This was not two seconds that kit that took for a captain marvel to answer the page. Anyway, I mean, this is relatively soon after Infinity war because we still see Steve got his beard. He's not clean-shaven. Like, he wasn't the first endgame trailer. And we can see we can still see the death toll or the missing told just shooting up by the second as they're all watching those graphics on the screen at avengers compound. So this is still relatively soon. But it's not immediate would have taken them time to find the pager get back to avengers compound. And then bypass the battery and whatever else they were doing with their pseudo techy science stuff. But yeah, like there could have been a different time where he hit the pager or maybe hit the pager for New York answer Cova. And then by the time, she showed up he was like never mind. I got it. So that could have happened. But yeah, there could totally be a time between nineteen ninety five and two thousand twelve issue for the avengers or even before Manitou thousand eight where Carol did comeback for something. Because I do think there's a chance the second movie happens. Between not necessarily in the modern day because there's also a confrontation that Ronin teases with Carol danvers, and we wouldn't see that post twenty fourteen because he dies in two thousand fourteen in the first guardians of the galaxy. So if they're ever going to pay off that confrontation between Caroline Ronin than there would be another captain marvel story set between nineteen ninety five and twenty fourteen each day. What would you like to see in the sequel? I don't know. I think I wanted them to go. 'cause Nick though, because we haven't really seen a lot of captain Marvel's sort of caused Nick potential is except for like the first the beginning scenes, so I would like to see captain marvel to or whatever the sequel will be called go a little bit more along the lines of like guardians or thorn in terms..

"So I'm coming from like the black Leotard loving days. And then she, you know, got redone in a two thousand twelve as captain marvel. Carol danvers. Yeah. Everyone knows right. Okay. Where'd you list? Oh, yeah. Like, the seventh on the list of carrying the captain marvel yet idle, so let's go through this list. So the next one up after we have marvel is Monica is at Rambo. Yeah. And that was the second captain marvel was created by writer Roger stern and artist John remedy junior. She first appeared in the mazing Spiderman annual number sixteen in nineteen eighty two. So here I am just thinking that she's been around, you know, recently. I haven't read any captain, marvel comics, and I'm gonna get on it. I read my my friend Sam MAGS actually wrote a book, which often show you. Yeah. Probably. Yeah. We're gonna do a book signing with her. What's so great? Well, but so what it does have info about captain marvel, and it has info about all the women of marvel in it. And so that was when I was reading that it made me want an, and of course, as Bree Larson film has made me want to check it out had I feel behind because we did we did a Harley Quinn episode with Tara strong. Oh nice. And when I was researching for that, I ran across and Harley Quinn. I'm very, you know, I grew up watching Batman animated series. So I'm aware of her. But I ran across mad love that everyone was saying like you have to read this. It's like such an in depth look at her in her relationship with joker, and, you know, her vulnerability, and like kind of her mindset, so I bought it. And I'm like, okay, I need to do this first. Then I'll get into captain, marvel comics have so many things that I'm behind on. Okay. Okay. So Monica Rambo was a police Lieutenant from New Orleans who possesses the power to transform herself into any form of energy. Her powers were briefly altered. So that she cannot transform to energy. But instead can generate a personal force field. Really interesting that they made her a police officer. This was something in a couple of other episodes that we have also talked about during this time like this era where it was very lethal weapon. He like, you know, those like cop, but he caught Orlando cop films were really popular. Yeah. Yes. It was really because they also did that we talked about in our Black Panther episode. They did it with two Challah or at least with Black Panther. I forgot his name at the time. But they made him until police officer in the nineties. Oh my gosh. Yeah. And so what's really cool about that? Is that in and I'm trying to stay away from the trailers kind of went after I've seen like the first initial ones. But you if you stop it, you know, the wonderful world of DVR. And people on the internet than they put it up that Monica in her in her airplane is says photon is. So that's a total lake. Nice. Little eastgate. Call out to her being photon in the comics. Oh, yeah. See I wouldn't it which is pretty rod. I would I feel like I'm gonna need to take a box of tissues to the movie because I'm just going to be like, oh my God. That's that's how I was with one with wonder woman. Yeah. Wonder woman's no-man's-land seen oh dot every I know every time I just wanted to and also I think like it was the music. It was so much about it just seen her and kind of like her inability to understand why we're cowards. So, you know, she just she saw these, you know, she saw these people dying and was like I I love that line. That's like what you do. What I do is not. Up to you. Oh, yeah. And captain marvel says something similar I feel in her trailer off to I'm gonna look at it. You know, I'm gonna look it up. I mean, look it up right now because we're going to take a break. Hey, what's up? I'm iffy. And I'm Danny. And if you're like in those sounds in your ear right now. Well, I got some good news for you yet. "At least not in my neck of the woods said face but true face and we get to see a lot of, you know, captain marvel and action. We get see a much younger Samuel Jackson. Which is Nick fury. So gay miss younger him. I don't remember if we see Colson in this trailer, but I wanna say we do. We get to see a lot of captain marvelous, Humby humble beginnings, I think we could see some of the scrolls I think, but I don't fully remember, but I do remember that. Yeah, this is a really big deal. Captain marvel is supposedly, and I don't know this person. I haven't read a lot of the marvel comics, but supposedly is one of the strongest characters in the marvel universe. We're talking stronger than than os stronger than LOKI stronger than a lot of the characters we've seen so far in them see us. She supposedly be out of the water and we have seen MS, captain marvel. Excuse me. Captain marvel a bit already. She's showing up on Marvel's avengers a cartoon show that's on. Disney d, it's achy in its fifth season now, and she's also shown up a little bit on marvel Spiderman. The new sperm in cartoon is also Disney exte-. But you know, it's only they only been big pieces here and there you know believe she's been marvels of injuries for a while now, and that's a show I've just only recently gotten into. But yeah, I'm actually they had at wonder con this year, this last year in March. They didn't agents of shield panels do every year. But yeah, the guy who plays Colson wasn't there and now was because he was shooting for, you know, captain marvel and yeah, we're going to see, you know, younger, Nick fury in this movie, we're gonna see a younger coal agent Colson. This movie, we kind of get see, like, you know, a a shield, it's going to be kinda different from than we see on the show. Now I think that's fair to say. We see in this trailer, really cool. Nick fury, supposedly going to hang into dense thinking on, you know what to heck with this to heck with this job to heck with this life. And I guess he says in the trailer that you know, you know, you kind of change that for me. I don't remember if we achy see what the bad guy of captain marvel is going to be in this trailer. I don't think so, but I'm not honestly sure, but this is our first look at this movie. It probably won't be our last look, but yet almost seems like in parts of the trailer may be captain marvel herself, maybe a bad guy. 'cause they're, they do show a see in this trailer where you see her training with other people who wearing a similar in a uniform as she is. And again, since I'm not a big marvel comic reader, I don't know if that means Hainault. They're good guys or if they're bad guys. I'm not really sure. And again, I'm not fully clear on. Why exactly she, you know where she gets her powers from exactly, and I'm sure the movie it self will delve deeper into that. But yeah, like this isn't movie because I'll say this right now for me when it comes to marvel and MC you, they know what they're doing ever since you know ironman, they've proven, they know what they're doing..

"The with a blown mal at his, his deal was that he was being trained by an ancient religious order. Now, what I would do is add since being a kid and I would try to onto hypnosis so he was unaware that he had all the abilities run-in when they needed him. They just like sleeper agent in they, they gave him the code and then he was up. Okay. When the martial arts and the same with. There was a, there was a character called Jack hawks more in the series called the authority, which was like a Warren Ellis series that was like the avengers, but they violent, oh, good. And he was constantly as a kid. He was constantly being abducted and like experimented on and like given mole like cyborg abilities sent him back and they don't know. Oh, he knew, but he just didn't know who was doing it was a paper from the future. Oh, no, yeah. Now, right. But I think that might be what's? What's your theory about this there is that she gets inducted spice. We'll taking spice after an explosion of accident, or maybe it's intentional and she's working for the Cray. Cray. Really the bad goes. Everybody on that team looks able and is a villain from the comments. It's true. Right? And I don't think Jude lorries kept a Abu. I think he's gone rogue all the bad guy, the able, the captain the man captain models on. Yes, that's right. Or or you could be an amalgamation of maybe the original captain level sucks and he is the original cabinet novel here. What do you base that on? Because we. Only say for like a second because I think. Nobody has said he's captain marvel. Marvel of never said it's listed as that in a few places, but marvel of never said officially that he's kept. They say he's a mental and he's a craven attic and Ron. Okay with Ronin. And so I just think, well, he might be maybe he's like a deadbeat Dad Khan. He's captain mile will, but he just he's just played. Terrible sucks maybe because we don't want you don't have to have a captain marvel in this. It doesn't matter. No. And I thought also maybe the possibility that there is no original captain marvel in this. She's she's the first one. Yeah. And maybe like we talked about in that video, we're talking about origin. Maybe this version is a scrawl with the members of Carol danvers who's who's been kidnapped and brainwashed by the creative fought the scrolls Rhonda maybe. But I don't think this is. I don't think she's the simplest, the Craig good in the scrolls about, I think some of the scrolls might be good as I agree. Yeah, that's probably true son, but wouldn't that may. Mean that by the end of this movie, we have a cre- characters actually scroll. Yes, which I think would be interesting on the end. And And all I I think is. is also we don't what we don't say. This is we don't say what the scrawls can do it all. Yeah, we'll see what they look like. Well, I can shape shift because he, she punches that woman in the head. Now somebody pointed out, I don't know if this is true. Is that also Bray Lawson who's getting punched? That'd be as the old lady, something that is something I don't know if this is confirmed on Auburn. A lot of people I saw on Al planet broadcasting, groom, people win that spray Lawson really old lady. Mike up. She's punching us l. I thought it looked like an all night signed, but they maybe it is maybe it's, I don't know if that is true or not. Sure. Yeah. But I mean, that could be a case of that. "So check that out only in the show notes, and there's one last thing I wanted to bring up that we are running way overtime, but there they also released the first teaser poster for captain marvel which features an interesting hidden Easter egg. So if you wanted to cover that, now you go to go search the captain marvel poster and see if you can find it. But if you want to be spoiled and you want to know about it, Chris is gonna tell us about it. Crystal tell us about it. So in the the left hand corner of the captain marvel poster, you see a cat, but and. If you don't know the captain marvel lure, you might just think I'm using little cat cameo. But in doing research, I learned that captain marvel actually has a cat in the comics named chewy. And as it turns out this cat actually isn't really a cat. It's just an alien that looks like a cat. So the. You know, it seems to hint that this alien cat will indeed be appearing in the film in some form. And so there you have it the this, this the seems like affirmed. There's a lot more to this movie than this trailer. Certainly, let's on because there's no cat in the trailer. So be on the lookout for the alien cat in captain marvel. It's theaters next year. You know, just hearing about this makes me think that the alien cat is still the show. Just just imagine that we're going to have, you know, it's memes and gifts, and it's going to be like, you know, the new poor, it's going to be the poor of the marvel cinematic universe, but and it's it's kind of fun that they put him. "Said one hundred tons so the most relevant thing for this fight about her absorption abilities is that she can absorb magic and we know that captain marvel is all about magic everything about him uses with magic carol wants teamed with doctor strange to fight one of his arch magic villains sir will warren traveler in this marvel volume two issue five and she was able to absorb magical energies in that book she was even able to absorb the magical energies of strange has house that's the sanctum sanctorum which is the most powerful magic spot on earth so if she could absorb magical abilities like shams powers this fight is over and the longer it goes the more it favors caps norval because she would constantly have an incredible source of magic on end for her to absorb with zam he wouldn't be an opponent he would be a battery so i'm going to say the longer it goes the more the odds are in captain marvel speaker and she's an would have to finish her quickly and i don't think that anyone is beating captain marvel quickly and already talked about his most glaring weakness that she's zam has is that he transforms back and forth from being a little boy after speaking the words zam but there's one more piece to it he has to get hit by the lightning so rare imagine this if she zam gets hit by his own lightning during this fight because carol absorbs it and sends it back to him while he's inches and form she's gonna turn them back into billy batson because she can absorb it and send it right back to them so she can just absorbs lightning throw him back and then he's billy again then it would just be a matter of flicking on the forehead and putting him to sleep so he can't speak the words again that was an incredibly impressive.

"Another impressive point you got anything to rebut there jay no i mean that's a great point i mean james just keeps driving home how powerful cats marvel is how strong is how much energy he can throw it captain marvel it's a lot isn't it connecticut energy sure is all kinds of energy especially let's talk about you talked about the powers of cats and marvel and you talked about the strength bids let me talk about that my third point because i have talked about a lot of her powers i've talked about her mind but there are still some powers i haven't talked about yet let's talk about that in point three here aside from being very strong fast and durable ray carroll has another cosmic power that's going to give her a huge edge in this fight and that's energy absorption now she has the ability to not only absorb large outputs of energy but she can send them back to the target as well she is done this against some powerful people in the marvel universe someone like ronin the conqueror who is too powerful for even the guardians take on by themselves she was able to beat him by sending his own energy back she was able to fight and defeat count nefarious and james mench the count before is one of the most powerful guys marvel he was so powerful in fact that he wants stalemated an angry four and i gotta remind james that he argued so passionately in our noncontroversial fan os vs superman debates how an angry thor was enough to defeat fan ohs but james also mentioned captain marvel being in trouble if she absorbed certain megatons of energy no she's been able to absorb it entire nuke before she is shown sufficient absorbing power win working with the avengers to absorb the energy from a one hundred ton weights and then she struck back with similar force and the interesting thing about that event which occurred in ventures volume three issue forty one is that the renowned scientists hank pym fear is that that wasn't even her upper limit of strength and that.

"So that's where you find carol danvers captain marvel that's where she's most at home now i mentioned that carol danvers has been around since nineteen sixty eight but it wasn't really until the two thousands that marvel decided she was going to step forward and be like their alternate female superhero and now to me reading the books just seems like she's the alternate hero period but carol at this point as captain marvel she's one of the most powerful beings in the marvel universe possibly the most powerful female and her strength is written as basically being unlimited she's been called marvel's biggest female hero and quite possibly marvel's mightiest avenger and yes that would include four and the hulk so some special things about her for this first point she's got the invulnerability she's got strength she's got the power to shoot blasts of energy and normally these blaster characters who fight a range are weaker when you get closer but she's not so she's going to be able to fight zammit range she's going to be able to fight him up close and really her superman style right eating makes her as strong as she needs to be now i know she's am has that going onto but some of her amazing feats include defeating the vision slamming the halt to the ground nearly killing tony stark while he's wearing his hoke buster armor she's shattered meteors buildings moves and fights at superhuman speed she can fly from earth to the outer atmosphere in less than minutes she's moved at supersonic speeds and our base forms she is survived falls from space to earth with no ill effects she has walked away and totally no sold having a building dropped on her she can walk through and tank multiple ironman suit blast at the same time she is swatted away blast from the buster armor and she's even survived blast from fan ohs and the captain marvel book and most recently in the ultimate s book the ultimate is a team of heroes that she leads she led the ultimate a team and manage to capture thanos that's the guy we just had beat superman on a recent episode with no contract.
