And i'm going to be chasing it with a little bit of Burr citius kasha. Forget which beer this is now. I by by a mckay time. That's the problem. I think this is the cherry trees. Tabula s- from them. We more concerned with with drinking more about alcohol and beverages before food or did the cooking element come first. The cooking element came first. We always had a little bit of the drink element that's mostly because my first show was actually called boost booze and barbecue and it was a variety show. We enjoy doing that. Show but as happens in life you know my co host Moved to a different town. Got a house pregnant like the whole thing and so things were not gonna work out any more and so i put a hiatus on that show. It's actually back now. But we had such a long hiatus that has been kind of a slow. Go trying to big things back up but you know the the booze portion had really come into the same time as the food with that. It focused mostly or excuse me focuses mostly on automotive talk and then the fair portion of of the booze and the barbecue. Pardon my fork has really just encompassed the food and here the last three months you know with the whole covert thing we started doing some like virtual tastings and it's amazing to me how many people have gotten on board seriously we. What we call people who eat breakfast cereal for dinner because they just say man. This is what tastes good. You know we go to a restaurant with them in illinois groundings go mouths to have a dry burger bringing some catch up on the side. You know those people. They're still in the yummy face. They haven't developed their pallet. Really haven't gotten out of their their comfort zone of food. If you know what. I mean general. I kind of broke out of that early on i guess is what i'm saying

Golf's Biggest Winners of 2020
"All right. Sean it has been quite the year. it's not over. I'm not saying it's over. But i am saying we're here to get ahead of all those year end lists of winners losers best of we're tackling it midway through november where we winners this year. Did we win. I'm not confident that we were. There was a moment in the middle of september where you hung out with bryson into shambo after. He warned the. Us open lumberton potato. The me i'm gonna finish that offers a little bit pizza or game. We proceeded to miss a flight about six hours later. Yup and yet we were somehow still able to make it. Torrey pines south and talk to a bunch of the best golfers in the world in the next twenty four hours. Is the drop zone peaked. In twenty twenty. I think we had to peak. Then you the major winner. We go to play the next. Us open course at sunset. We have a great little afternoon at torrey pines. And then we hang out with zander and burger and morikawa and just korda the next day. And so yeah. That's where that's where we won. That's a really strong point. We didn't we didn't get to perform on the course as much as we like to in a typical year. But hey we're we're not really here to bring our golfed the people it's not about us you know who it's about it's about patrick. Reed patch agreed is by far one of the biggest winners of twenty twenty. All right start off years number one winner. Patrick reed defend yourself is one of the biggest losers of twenty nineteen. You'll remember that. He got stuck in some bunker fiasco in december of two thousand nineteen and we thought that it was gonna follow him alone for the entire year is is is swinging. You thought that people are gonna continue yelling at him while he was playing like. They did during his playoff in hawaii. David ferte call him. Captain oblivious which i thought was a great little nickname. Peter costas was telling people. I've seen patrick reed improve his lie in the rough numerous times and yet here we are twenty twenty. And we don't even do anything about this. We joke about it. We don't care about it. Patrick reed one in mexico. He contended i think you can say he contended at the. Us open he missed one cut after the restart. He's a winner this year. Because we don't care about what happened in past. This is where the phrase bigger fish to fry comes in our biggest problems. Man what a great time to be alive. Last december where our biggest worry was patrick. Reed kind of messing around in a waste. Bunker in the bahamas life was pretty good So yeah i mean. I think that that's a pretty fair one because look we just. Don't even talk that much about patrick reed right now. He's sneaky number eleven in the world. He's gonna be back on the us ryder cup team. If he if he keeps up you know his current run and play. He's been damn good.

Local Teen’s ‘Big Year’ Breaks Chicago's Cook County Birding Record
"At all. But I have to say one of my favorite things of the fall, and it's It's happened for 10 years or so now. Are they both up there? Well, the so is is when the sand hill cranes fly over and I can hear them and they sound like this count to me. Sounds like turkeys, but they fly high in the air, and I was out for a walk it Ryerson Woods over this weekend. And heard them and was able to see them. I just think it's one of the coolest things. Carl Giammetti is on phone line. He is with the board member of the Chicago Order, Ornithology logical society. There's a story behind that I was too long to tell. And also on a phone line is issue. O'Brien, who set the record for most birds, identified for this year in Cook County for a year, I should say And issue is 17 years old issue. Welcome to W G. N Thank you so much for having me. You bet. Okay, so I didn't know you know what I'm talking about? What? Sandhill cranes. I'm sure right? Yes, I do. And this is the time that they're flying overweight. They fly way up above us. And but you can hear them. They're incredibly loud. Yeah, There are some incredible birds and they will migrate in really huge flocks. They make a lot of noise, too. So I think they definitely stand out to a lot of people whether or not your burger. But anyway yeah. Some of the most incredible migrating birds that passed through this area without a question. Okay, So you have identified well as of the copy I read in the Tribune 282 Birds. Is that where we're standing still? Um, I've actually gained a few more sense than, um I'm hoping that maybe I'll be lucky enough to hit the 2 90 marks, but we'll see one of the most recent ones you've seen. I'm sorry, but I think that I've added a couple. Um, some nice winter finches have been a highlight about it. Evening. Gross speak as well as the white Wing Cross. Still, another one has been spotted Toey and I'm blanking on other 10. The other one. How could I forget? Um, a cast in Sparrow, which is actually Um, one of the very few records of the species in the steak s. Oh, without question one of the most notable birds on my year list for sure. Sandhill cranes sound like for everyone. I'm glad you're okay. And it's just one of those sounds When I hear it. I just look up and I'm always raking leaves or walking somewhere in the fall, So that's pretty cool. Carl Geum Eddie is on the phone line as well from the Ornithological society in his Carl. So my producer Jeff Garlin. All day was mispronouncing and I said, Don't do it again because I want people to do it on the air, and then I screwed it up. But so issues having a quote unquote big year explain what a big year is for me. So essentially what a big year is that Ah Burger will choose a geographic area can be something that small is just your yard or could be something is largest the entire world. But county and state levels are usually probably the most popular ones to do because they're more manageable. And basically from January 1st at you know, at 12:41 A.m. 2 December 31st 11 59 pm You try to see his many different species of bird as you can. The nice thing about this story that I read in the Tribune, um, written by Morgan Green is the cooperation that's involved with other burgers to help someone in their big year. Can you tell me about that? Absolutely. Yeah, it's who did an incredible job, and especially with the added complication of covert closing a lot of like front sights. Hey, really discovered a lot of areas but really tol have a successful big year requires a lot of people sharing information about what birds they're seeing, and that's why I like to kind of say It's obviously issues achievement. He is deserve all the credit. But it also says something about the health of Ah local birding community that they're able to support new, big your records and things like that. So it's really a great thing to see. So is to explain that so you're a home watching TV or having dinner with your family, your phone chirps and all of a sudden, well chirps. How's that for upon you've got to get in the car and chased down the bird. Yeah, that is pretty much how it goes, I think Right now. We're very lucky to live in a time where we have technology at our fingertips. And I think with it a lot of birds as well because people are able to get the word out so quickly. So as soon as I get a call from a friend or a text message from our local Rare bird alert group chat. I will be in the car soon as I possibly can. And how? What's the further you? Did? I read your live in Evanston. Yeah. Okay, So if you're going to Southern Cook County or even Northwestern Cook County that's quite a hook. What's the farthest you've gone to wreck your to identify a bird? I think this year. I mean, I think I've gone is pretty much as far as the boundaries of cook County could take me. Um I'd say probably an hour and hour and 15 minutes is about as far as I've gone you've identified you said about 288 birds so far. You'd like to get to 300 Carl, how many different bird species are in Cook County? Well, you know, it varies based on you know, kind of weather patterns and the type of your it is some years we got more vagrants, Other others we don't but generally believed the cook list is somewhere close to 400. I think a few short of 400 here. So, Yeah, I

The Trump campaign does have two business days to request a recount. Some of those legislative changes that Rapids burger is aiming to propose would increase trust in the results. They include allowing state officials to intervene in counties that have systemic problems administering elections requiring photo I d for absentee voting and adding stricter controls to allow for challenges to voters who might not live where they say. They live in Wisconsin, a presidential vote recount getting underway in two counties that lean Democrat

Union of Concerned Scientists' Dr. Rachel Cleetus Discusses What the Biden Administration Needs to Do to Address the Climate Catastrophe
"To the healthcare policy podcast on the host. David intra cosso during this podcast discussed with the union of concerned. Scientists climate energy programs policy director. Dr rachel cletus. What the biden administration needs to address mitigate the effects of the worsening climate crisis. dr cletus. welcome to the program. Hello david thank you so much for having me. dr cletus. bile is of course posted on the podcast website. This is my fifteenth climate crisis related interview on background. The climate catastrophe continues to accelerate hemispheric carbon concentrations are now measured at four hundred seventeen parts per million the greatest concentration of carbon in our species existence. Not surprisingly there's a ninety nine percent chance. Twenty twenty will be among the top five warmest years. Two thirds chance for sixty six percent chance that will be the warmest year on record. This year is also experiencing a record-breaking atlantic hurricane and with thirty named storms to date and record breaking wildfires in the arctic that is warming at upwards of three times the rate of the rest of the planet the albedo effect from the loss of summarized will be equal to the release of one tree tons of carbon equivalents in the atmosphere. This amount approximates forty percent of all human caused ghg emissions. Since seventeen fifty in addition northern permafrost that holds almost twice as much carbon dioxide is currently in the atmosphere his thawing seventy years earlier than previously predicted the plan is also experiencing unprecedented biological violation. Vector-borne diseases including covid nineteen continued to proliferate and the trump administration in denying scientific reality has rescinded approximately one hundred environmental regulations that i discussed with sabin centers. Michael burger last may and finally listeners are where he federal court ruled earlier. This year. that americans do not have a constitutional right to survivable climate. So with that welcome. Dr cletus again were here discuss climate policy under the vitamin station. So before diving into that. A doctor cletus Regarding my brief assessment. Is there anything. You'd like to add or alternative. I can i alternatively i can ask the question. The union put out a document a few years ago called the title the world scientists warning to humanity. so if you prefer to answer The ladder what was in that warning. I think you've just made out a very thorough set of reality that were tainted with respect to the climate crisis. Things that climatize this morning house project are now actually happening around a severe climate crisis. If you're now it's no longer about some distant problem and it's affecting us here in the united states and around the world you mentioned the record breaking hurricane season we've seen the cocaine season moby seem pretty extraordinary type wounds on the other side of her world with the teams being. Hit back to back. In the last few weeks we've seen extraordinary heatwaves around the world in europe in asia flooding And see living wage which is inexhaustible continuing slow moving disaster that many low-lying things around the world are facing Including as in the us Especially in on that. He's been go goes. We're at a point. Now where we are rapidly running out of time to address very new classes and as you pointed out as well we actually earn a moment for our nation is facing colliding. Place the covid nineteen pandemic as you mentioned but we also have a rapidly worsening economic crisis. We have a crisis democrats in our country. That is being made there In this moment so all of these colliding to creative patrician where underlying social economic disparities than discrimination being exacerbated and a climate crisis is holding a very inequitable way Around the world and here in the us so what we do now what the biden administration does and what future us administration to is very very important. The most significant difference. We're going to see is that we now have an administration that recognizes the fines will be guided by the signs and how they respond to the climate crisis instead of an administration that basically lied relentless me about the existence of Munchies the climate crisis that even the reality the cova christ who actually worked to make them more worse. So now we have a president who actually five instead of sidelining them and silence them yes. thank goodness. I will say As had been speculated trump's legacy will probably be moreover his Calling the crisis a hoax and of course Rescinding these operas of hundred epa mostly epa regulations. Let's get into What we might expect from the biden administration. We could start with. I did intend or ask you What did the biden campaign pledge to address the climate crisis. President biden's should do on climate. You could note a few of these relative to what you think would be most productive coming from a biden administration. What's most important for the vitamin that administration to extend a very clear strong and early signal. They're going to take this challenge seriously. They wanna aggressive with all of that. They have so. I know that maybe have pointed out that In our democratic took them eighty the actions that the president together with the action congress that will really allow for full Aggressing of problems like climate crisis. And no doubt congress. Must say it's hard if we're going to get your They should have and comprehensive action. But there's a loss at the biden expiration can and should do on its own and much of that can be done fairly quickly Within the first hundred days of the administration taking power one quick forward and simple thing that everyone has been talking about is of course are getting back in the remount of the trump administration on november. four The final the us from the of women that is an action that puts us on the sidelines and uniquely isolated on the world stage where the only country that has actually stepped away from the therapy. We need to get back An after the responsible major nation of the world i together with other nations to raise invasion around a dozen the global climate crisis. And i miss fans there's no different the covid nineteen pandemic. we can solve the global complex challenges only when the app in concerts that other nations. So that's pretty straightforward It's not enough to just get back. In paris agreement we have to borrow A with domestic action. That shows that you are gonna take this seriously. We have to set signs and gone goals cutting He in mission here in the us. The ipc record and twenty eighteen all down some pretty cure now. By twenty thirty having our mission show By twenty thirty to do that we're going to need action across the economy. Has inspector the biden administration should be directing every federal agency To make sure that they're incorporating climate science and their actions that they're looking for opportunities to go cut emissions as the bill climate billions to the climate impacts that are unfortunately already locked in Their action that the administration can take to the deputy voters and regulatory action to cut heat trapping emissions cosby economy. They should do so There are a number of very aggressive. Compensation decorative voter that Should be giving both back and one thing that is the has not recognize the now taking these kinds of ambitious actions requires leadership not just from the president but from his gatherer competitive agency. You'll be watching me. What appointments look like we need to have people in charge of these agencies and appointed to cabinet positions that recognize how climate change touch with every aspect of our economy and our lives and there needs to be david into their world view.

When police arrived, they found two empty currency bags, but no sign of a struggle. Their conclusion was that this was most likely a case of petty employee embezzlement. Despite the fact that the purses of the two girls working that night had been left behind along with their coats in November. Their theory was that the employees had taken the money and gone out partying. The police called the manager to lock up and left without taking pictures or evidence of any kind. Police on the scene expected the kids to turn up by morning. They were wrong. We screwed it up from the beginning officer Buddy L. winger would later admit. "Let's head back for a second into the late. Eighteen hundreds after almost all the buffalo had been killed and the LAKOTA. People had been confined to reservations in Modern Day. South Dakota. The government eventually delivered herds of live cows but when the LAKOTA mounted horses and hunted the cattle in the ritual way they once hunt the Buffalo. The government was threatened by this show of power after that. They only sent the tribe packaged meat from a nearby slaughterhouse. The tribe didn't accept it instead. They burned the nearby slaughterhouse to the Ground Fast Forward to South Dakota's standing rock in two thousand sixteen as the media followed protests against the Dakota access pipeline carrying oil that was to run through indigenous land endangering the local populations of people animals and water resources and not to mention adding to climate change as the indigenous from all over and their allies were locked in a standoff with riot police. Something miraculous happened the only reason why we're moving. Back to armed with tear-gas right here. Weapons rubber bullets. That's what it takes for them pushes back carry weapons. Because they're scared. What does this mean to you? This traditional land. Manning's everything over there all the buffalo in what was certainly a noble gesture one that enraged Fox News as they declared a war on the Eagle. Barack Obama made the buffalo the first national mammal of the United States the same year as those protests it held a painful irony while hamburgers have represented the dominance hierarchy so precious to colonial Americans history. The Buffalo represents what we cannot imagine any more a world that we take care of one that takes care of us one that we have dominion over but we don't dominate in the end when there's nothing left to take what will be the beauty of America turning away from reality doesn't make it go away but it's true that our brains carry us through it with the maximum amount of comfort. But what is the cost of this comfort and even more so when all is said and done what is the cost of our conquering.

"The Red Man was pressed from this part of the West. He's likely no more to return to the banks of Red River where seldom if ever there flickering campfires burn European cattle continue to multiply in the south especially during the civil war when men left their ranches to fight returning to a shock of cows. Their numbers suddenly reaching five million because of the new flood of Supply. Beef became very cheap in the south and ranchers were going broke but soon the answer revealed itself a great deal of cows were needed to feed the growing populations in the expanding midwest eventually scores of rugged cowboys wrangled their cattle driving them hundreds of miles learning as they went how to best control. The herds as these cowboys in their cattle came pouring into Chicago a handful of companies immediately jockey to control the market largely by exploiting immigrant labor and the local ranchers that had previously raised their cows for the local community. These meat packing companies set up the terrifying slaughter houses. We know today that killed millions of cows every year in what amounted to the first industrial production lines a structure that would later seriously influence Henry Ford's and then later the fast food industry. These companies began using additives. And then sending this meet via train all over the country expanding the market these companies were no longer interested in local beef and all the while getting rich as hell this. Industrialization of meat meant that people no longer relied on trusted butchers. In their communities they would no longer come into contact with the animals. They ate instead. The meat arrived. Pre cut the way. We see meat packaged on ice. At the grocery store the mass production of beef meant that high and low classes alike could afford it for newcomers. It was a taste of this mythical America. The land of plenty where anyone could become a steak stuffed fat cat. Letters would pass between nations with correspondences like every day. The more conservative forces of America began to make alliances between the government and the rapidly growing business industry that lasts this day one such do came during the Spanish American war of eighteen ninety eight when these companies wanted to ship out there beef for the lowest possible cost and without proper refrigeration under President William McKinley the US army stationed in Cuba was provided chemically adulterated. Canned beef rations that merely poisoned the army into defeat. The soldiers rapidly fell ill too serious food poisoning that. I thought to be caused by malaria or yellow fever in reality the weakened immune systems of the men made the diseases much worse. Some of the meat had rotted in the cans turning putrid. It was often described as embalmed with one army medical officer describing it like this. It looked well but had an odor similar to that of a dead human body after being injected with Formaldehyde but the final nail in the coffin of beefs early rain came when author Upton Sinclair published his famous Nineteen O. Six expose of the Chicago Slaughterhouse Industry. Though he had desired to shine a socialist light on labor abuses faced by the majority immigrant workers his descriptions of the horrifying conditions faced by the underpaid and sometimes mutilated employees. Were largely ignored. It was the description of rats running inside. The machines meets contaminated with tuberculosis body. Parts crushed along with beef that got the public's attention as Upton Sinclair. Put it himself quote I aimed at the public's heart and by accident I hit it in the stomach. His reports contributed to what would become the pure food and drug act of Nineteen. O seven and from then on the quality of beef would become standardized and allegedly safe but it would take the public a while to trust. The government and meat industry's again and beef would decline in popularity at least for the time being the early version of the hamburger was mostly associated with lower class. Hangouts like circuses and Fairs but by the nineteen twenties the very first fast food chain white castle repackaged beef for a still skeptical general public hoping that middle class clients might be persuaded to trust again using white as their primary design color founder. Walter Anderson also opened up the kitchen to the public with burgers being cooked right before their eyes white castle would aim for a many American immaculate fantasy which included the trusted faces of their brand. The spreading franchises were instructed to hire young white men between the ages of nineteen and twenty four. They were required to pass a physical and their histories including family backgrounds were examined for good behavior. After they passed these rigorous tests. They were all required to wear the same uniform. White shirt black tie and clean white always unstained apron. They demanded no jewelry hair and fingernails trimmed short and a clean shaven face at all times and then came the famous white paper hats which all employees were required to wear and then still stain obsessed. They were made to wear disposable paper aprons to white castle provided endless white napkins all produced by paper manufacturing company that they themselves brand is a subsidiary it worked and white castles popularity exploded. It seemed that beef was back and boy was looking good right from wrong. A World War. Two left the country starving for good news and in a booming postwar economy. You could say that this happiness was manufactured. Four Americans fast food became clean. Predictably uniform each location easy to trust in its simplicity with middle-class teenage car culture exploding in the affluent one thousand nine hundred fifties car hops walked or roller skated out two groups of friends laughing and cars or lovers cuddling up next to each other like white castle. These workers were originally clean. Cut White men but after World War. Two forced women to replace men in their previous jobs. They became the primary car hops even after the men returned. It was clear that the women were attracting more customers likely because they were often required address like cheerleaders skating joyfully out to deliver the meat. That don't worry. They didn't cook but that meet sure. Looked good in the hands of a beautiful woman under the growing influence of psychologist Sigmund Freud. The fast food industry adopted the theories of the subconscious using advertising methods. That certainly last through to the present day. Burgers were manly. Yes but they were also safe and dependable. When McDonald began questioning the Golden Arches? That had become their trademark logo. A psychologist slash design consultant gave his Freudian opinion..

"Okay, one. He keeps saying it's all good stuff is a good American stuff. It's america. It's American stuff. And then at one point the guy like they ask you a question out of them from like, you know, the press pool wherever it's like what what do you prefer do you like McDonald's or Wendy's more? And he goes they're both. I was I was Seymour Hersh. He's not a new he's on it gets hot new scoop, Donald Donald Trump. You know, he'll tell you that he likes all of it because he has through. Now, you know, the generals of told him. Support all of them. But what would he won't tell what they've tried to scrub? And I actually got a lot of threatening calls about was he's he's been very anti Wendy's in the past. He's. The square burger. He finds kind of threatening the he doesn't like you worry. He's going to hurt himself. But James Mattis, James Madison is way out. He will you remember James Madison actually had a lot of projects in South America with day Thomas. He told Trump that even out of the White House. He wouldn't protect them from the other generals him out against Wendy's. Dave Thomas's legacy. So he wouldn't he wouldn't commit to McDonald's or Wendy's. And he just kept saying they're both American Eric Eric stuff. We love Burger King. Great bird, the Burger King. He say earlier. He said earlier before they did it. He said we're gonna have McDonald's Wendy's Burger King's Jessica stick in my head because I think he thinks that is those are guys there are multiple burger kings their their their their monarchs in small principalities in Europe. And I can't wait to have them. All come to the White House Booker amazing leaders the burger kings. I think are just all wonderful wonderful fellows, and you would hope you would hope that there could be one king. He thinks that they could figure something out. He thinks Peter King is like the son of the Burger King. So it's really nice. The burger teams are Harare. I just I laughed so hard and the last thing that the detail that you have to clock in this video. That's incredible phillix you reminded me of it. He's just given up wearing suit jackets out because you so fucking fat. Like he's wearing his kills. He's wearing his move our coat inside like surveying next to the heat lamps next next to his burder, bounty. I love bring a big overcoat. I'm just standing like a minute or in my giant coat because no one can know I gained forty pounds of thanksgiving high. So awesome, dude because his his his physicals coming up, and we all know last time that guy. Ronnie Jackson came out and said he's fit as a fiddle and one pound under obese, and then he was rewarded with. Nomination for surgeon general, and then it came out that he was just writing scripts to everybody and driving his car into trees. I would pay a number in the hundreds of dollars. And I'm not a wealthy man that I would pay that much to get the actual data of Trump's physical because I feel like his normal body temperature is either like seventy two degrees for like one hundred thirty one degrees. Frozen. Many many of said that you know, a lot of people have very fast blood good. It's not good because it doesn't stay in one place long enough to do the healing things. Blood. "Once he gets this place up and running he's going to sell insterburg franchises. This is going. Be huge Edgerton Zeise light up at the mention of franchises. That sounds like a great idea for a restaurant say how about I forget Dairy Queen and become a Instagram franchisee. Instead. Kramer, didn't expect to be selling franchises this soon. But he's not turning the opportunity down. Sure. Let's talk. Great. But can I make a suggestion? I sure. You should call. It insta- Burger King. It will sound more. Impressive. It's April nineteen fifty four. Dave Edgerton isn't impulsive guy. But he's praying. He's made the right bet. He switched from ice cream to burgers in an instant. And immediately set his new franchise plan in motion. Now, it's been a month since Edgerton opened his insta- Burger King near Miami airport and he's waiting for an important visitor. That man is local steakhouse owner, Jim macklemore. Edgerton wants macklemore to sell his steakhouse and become his business partner. Shortly after six pm. Macklemore? Enters the quiet insta- Burger King the bright overhead lights reflect off. Macklemore? Smooth shaven scalp Edgerton rushes over to greet him. Jim thanks for coming. Take a seat. I'll get you some food a minute later Edgerton brings over a tray of hamburgers fries and vanilla shakes as macklemore sinks his teeth into the burger and sucks up the shake Edgerton makes his pitch. I've got the insta- Burger King franchise for the whole of Miami. I put all my money into this one. But I wanna have them all over the city. The more locations, we have bigger this business will be that's why I want you to invest I'll give you half the business in return. Macklemore likes this idea. He's always wanted to run a chain of restaurants. I'm interested. But and great burger, by the way, I wanna see the accounts, you gotta profit and loss statement Edgerton looks sheepish. Not yet all the receipts in checks are in a peach basket in my office. But look, we're definitely in profit. I reckon twenty eight percent or so profit on sales impressive, but I want proper accounts. How about you take your peach basket to my accountant, he'll do the books, and then I can decide if you weeks later. Macklemore is back his accountant has gone through the receipts and invoices in the peach basket and rendered a verdict. Well, guess what? Dave, you're not making profits. You're losing money. A lot of money Edgerton looks at the floor. Oh, I guess you're not investing. Actually, I am going to invest you only been opened two months, and I believe in this business besides I'm good with numbers. And it sounds like you need help in that area. By late nineteen fifty five the pair of opened three more insta- burger kings in the Miami area. But business is bad. All four locations are losing money. Macklemore and Edgerton debts are mounting, and they can't figure out why people are shunning their self service drive ins. There's another problem too word is spreading fast of.

"So you have to have the app downloaded you have to be in proximity to McDonald's and at that point for a penny. You can order a Walker from Bergen. Yes. And then you drive to the bird local Burger King, and you pick it now you did this. I did this. And how did it work out it worked? Well, it was great. Yeah. Now have the app on your are. You a regular Burger King? You don't I wouldn't strike you strike me as somebody who goes to thing. I will say that. It's there's no question at Burger King makes the. Fast food burger, that's unquestionable. But I don't eat their question that that's that. That's not. No. But it's a factually true. It's really not you can't you can't. At least subjective statement. We have in and out burger here man, we have Carl's junior. It's I mean, I part of the problem with in and out is that their fries tastes like kind of Wimpy card thing. I will. I this is what I this is what I will admit is that between McDonald's and Burger King Burger King makes a far superior hamburger to to McDonald's. But anyway, so you went there. No problems. They do they gave you the burger and everything was cool. And how many times can you do this? It said you can only do it. Once I don't know if that means that you can only do it once per day, or you can only do it once over the course of the of the promotion, which is going until December twelve okay, I think that the local franchise we went to wasn't in the loop on it. So we place the order and we walked up and said, hey, we're doing that that that one cent Walker. He'll in the kind of looked at us like, okay. So you're saying that you just placed an order on the mobile app. Yeah. She's okay. I'll go get it. Yeah. They got gave it to us. But I thought it was a really brilliant way of of capitalizing on your competition to boost your own numbers. So what they what they've affectively done is. They've had they've made people. Go drive to McDonald's sitting in McDonald's parking lot order from Burger King. So they've effectively made McDonalds Burger King a remote Burger King location and then people drive away from Don. Well, it's it's more than that. So there's a few things that they've done in this promotion that I think are brilliant number one is that in order to get the deal you have to download the app. Yes. Now one of the things about downloading the app is that you have the ability to do push notifications on the app like anything else. And so things will pop up offers will pop up now, they're in your now, they're in your..
