beirut explosion latest news
"Some exercises in perspective the IRA bomb which severely damaged Canary Wharf in London in Nineteen ninety-six was estimated at just over one ton of ammonium nitrate Timothy McVeigh's bomb which demolished a federal government building in Oklahoma City in nineteen ninety-five was just over two tons of the same material. The boss which erupted in Beirut's port on Tuesday was estimated at two. Thousand seven hundred and fifty tons of ammonium nitrate. One of the biggest peacetime non nuclear explosions in history as Bhai. Route begins the barely imaginable task of cleaning up and is understandably enough growing tear gas was fired yesterday at protesters near the parliament building I'm joined. Now by Lila Milana, Allen France twenty four's correspondent in Beirut Leyla. First of all, you have been visiting the port which was the epicenter of the explosion. I can't begin to imagine where you would even describe such scene but I'm going to ask you to have a crack at doing that the scene is as you say, almost indescribable does smoke still rising from the charred MBA's off. Destroyed packing crates destroyed shelving and it says every kind of. Utility things you'd expect to see in shops. Twisted. Washing machines on the floor items from pharmacies because this of course port, this is the one thirty functional in Lebanon imposed everything and everything was stored than in the center. You have the remains of these enormous grain silos that carried the grain for the majority of the country completely destroyed and parts of them. Still collapsing there you have a aid workers desperately trying to dig people of rubble that's thirty meters deep, and the conditions are horrific temperatures of thirty degrees baking hot sun. The air is thick and brown the smell acrid burning metal and plastic. It really is post-apocalyptic and this goes on for over a mile. Entire poor is just smoking twisted metal and daybreak. Nash. have. You got a clear sense of how widespread the damage across Beirutis. How far can you go from the blast without seeing broken windows? So it. was about nine kilometers where we're still doing things like breaking windows the impact of it and having people. That's it really has spread incredibly far, and it's an uneven spread as well because. What's happened is that the grain ciders positioned in a certain way which meant that it protected half of the city of West Beirut, which historically has in many disasters. Conflicts actually born the brunt of of problems in Beirut and actually deflected the majority of the blast towards the East and the south, which is why a famous areas like Gymnasium Ohio Asha fear completely The buildings there obliterated and one of the concerns now is a lot of. Buildings the older buildings in Beirut the few buildings left in the east of in pre-civil war, which were much loved already, quite delicate on the point of collapse yesterday as people were trying to clear the streets constantly civil defense volunteers trying to pull people back away from these buildings with balconies hanging down stone starting to crumble because of course, that's a huge dangerous. People are still sifting through rubble trying to find loved ones that buildings could. New Buildings that had not yet collapsed could collapse on top of the other issue is that the new builds a lot of them are concrete and speaking to an engineer what can happen with concrete is that with a shockwave blast like this concrete cracks easily under pressure and so that can be in tunnel cracks there that you don't know about in can't be seen from the outside, but the make the building unstable and because there's really been. Very, little help from the government with people trying to go back into their homes, clear up and see what they can retrieve and whether their homes are still livable. Many people going back into very unstable buildings and some living there because they have no other former shelter. So a real risk of further injury as buildings might potentially collapse over the next few days very similar to the aftermath of an earthquake, which is what this is compared to. A among the people who was serving the damage in Beirut yesterday was of course, President Emmanuel Macron of France undertaking a extraordinary spontaneous visit. How is that being received? I mean, it's it's understandable enough that Lebanese politicians don't want to interact at a personal level with the public at the not only for their own safety but is it being regarded as strange that the first high profile politician to to take a walkabout should be the president of an entirely different country? Well, it is strange, but it's not being regarded as strange. I was down on the street yesterday when McCone was was walking through glad-handing the crowd I mean, he really was you know playing up to it and was supposed to be going to Baabda Palace, the Presidential Palace to meet with politicians and delayed that for an extra hour on the schedule to stay with Lebanese people in the streets of course, playing up very much. The fact that he was there to see them he'd said before the visit my main priorities to go and be with the people of Lebanon. And extend, solidarity's to them, and then after that I will be dealing with the political varieties speaking to them. So in the streets, he was absolutely mobbed by people he's hugging people shaking hands with them people coming up tim saying, please don't give those politicians any money that corrupt criminals we don't trust them and he responded to one woman I know you don't trust them graffiti everywhere saying don't give one. Euro. To those Michael help us. So he really did make himself as I say a man of the people yesterday I spoke to a couple of young women afterwards. WHO said to me? That man was more of a leader to us in fifteen minutes than any of our politicians have been where all day no one has come to see us where are they wears the help and later in the day after a lot of commentary that. The. Obviously. Lebanese politicians feeding quite shamefaced one. The justice minister did come down to the streets to try and speak to people clearing up and she had water thrown in her face and chanting protest. Immediately, they're not welcome and that people absolutely fading that the government has no interest in safety in their health in their wellbeing and their ability to rebuild hiding away from them as everybody marshals together to try and get things. Back to nothing like normal but something livable at least just to follow that up finally, regular listeners may recall that you and I were speaking on Monday talking about the resignation of Lebanon's foreign minister and that seemed like a pretty big story at the time He's probably ruin his timing at this point but have you seen or heard anything in terms of actual messaging attempts to help or anything from the alleged government of Lebanon or d you kind of assume that they've all got to the point where they just realized the games up nobody really wants to hear from them anymore. It's quite extraordinary. There is honesty nothing happening in terms of that what the government is doing a lot of finger pointing at each other and previous administrations about who's to blame for this they've put everybody associated with the report under house arrest and saying that they're going to find the perpetrators. But of course, everybody's saying somebody else's the perpetrator on what we know so far it seems that for six years has been ongoing negligence at the highest. Level where a several reports were were built up by the head of the port and have customs sent to the government center the Prime Minister's Office the judiciary about the fact that this was a ticking time bomb and something has to be done completely ignored. So the government is going on about this investigation saying they'll find responsible meanwhile three hundred, thousand people in Beirut homeless, five, thousand injured hundreds still missing, and honestly all you can see on the streets is volunteers. The. Lebanese. breath volunteers, obviously with their ambulances civil defence wanting tears, young people armed with spades and rooms marching down the street just going into people's homes into buildings and sweeping up what they can and moving onto the next one cleaning up themselves. They all said to me of course not here we wouldn't expect anything else from them with the only people who can help ourselves and today international aid. Groups coming in different countries, sending their own firefighters medical support in, and still a complete absence of the Lebanese government anywhere except the poor area learn Milana Allen in Beirut thank you very much for joining us.
David Archer previews the Atlanta Falcons
"The Atlanta Falcons will do so with a former Falcons quarterback. Now he is their longtime color analysts on the radio network for Atlanta. And that is David Archer. David Hope all is. Well. Thanks for doing this. When we look at the Falcons, they made a big offseason acquisition getting Todd Gurley We don't know where the health is of Todd Gurley. What do you expect at a Todd Gurley coming over from l. A to Atlanta for this upcoming season? Well, be honest with you. I think we're expecting a lot of early and mainly in the Red zone. If you look at Todd Gurley's numbers, even with with so called quote unquote down near Around 900 yards rushing, still had 12 touchdowns. All 12 of those touchdowns came in the red Zone, and I think that Atlanta if they could find a way to run the football down close Help three up the talented weapons that Ryan has on the perimeter. Now, listen, you have a little bit more of a potent attack a little bit more looking a little bit more like what? You looked like a 16 when Avante Freeman and Tevin Coleman. We're carrying the ball down there close and created that problem in the run game. Atlanta has not had that over the last couple of seasons. I think that's where they expect Todd Gurley to make his main hey is down there in the red Zone. With the way that you probably have to manage his reps as a running back the rest of the running back room. Is there something that jumps out to you? Yeah, I think it's a good group. Really Do I think that when you look at Brian, Ill in the way, Brian Gillis Kamani together that Hawkins drafted a couple of years ago, Brian Handsome solid moments a year ago. Quadri Allyson. Kid at Pittsburgh rookie from a year ago. Uh, kind of woke himself. A little bit of a roll is a short yardage guy. £225 Goal line Guy, four touchdowns. Hopefully, you know, Smith can come back. He was injured in the game a year ago. I believe against the Rams in which he was trying to pick up a Blitzer, which he shouldn't be here should be doing, but he is an outstanding receiver out of the backfield. And a good change of pace back at the back, So they get to three young guys that I think you could lean on. And like you said, Take some of that. Load off. Assad, Girl. Let's get to the next down. And when we do so, we take a look at Matt Ryan and Julio Jones. The two big names in that organization. Do you still believe that this team could be a play off team once again with Matt Ryan and Julio Jones? I do, but it's you know, obviously, it's about you know your supporting cast and you do some things on the other side of the ball, and I'm sure there's a question you've got to worry about the defense's side the football, But there there's a little area in the offensive line. The left guard has been a little bit leaky, right guard's been a little bit leaky because of some injuries and things that they could shore up that into your part of the offensive line. Ryan's Like most classic quarterbacks climb in the pocket. They got to be able to give him that opportunity. Do so if you get into your pressure and accurate from problems, one game will help in that regard, but Yeah. Julio Jones, 16 seconds, 1300 yard seasons. Matt Ryan, nine consecutive 4000 yard seasons. I don't see the one those guys backing off. When you talk about that offensive line to follow up on that I'm a big fan of Matt Hennessy. Being a temple grad, really smart football player puts in a lot of work. Is he going to make an immediate impact in your number one? Yeah, There's always a question that he's certainly in the mix to be the starting guard. There's no question about that. I think that there's ah lot excitement around when he brings the table and and obviously the heir apparent, Alex Mack, probably its center. So Alex back in a little bit longer to still have a good football any But I need to put some guys around him that Khun taken, it could be in there and we had German Brown and James Carpenter guys that could not stay on the field. There was some solid moments from those two big veteran players, but they did not stay on the field and consistency. In the interior specialist that left guard spotted Kennedy ultimately will probably win that job and be the starter that guard let's get to the next down. All right, David Archer. When they flip the switch here and go to the other side of the ball defensively, it was an up and down year for the defense, but it seemed like they did finish in a better spot than what they did earlier on in the season. You could probably say that for the entire team with the Atlanta Falcons this division. Is loaded with offensive talent. You know what the Saints are. Now you have Tom Brady and the division with Tampa Bay, and I'll be curious to see what Teddy Bridgewater does with the Panthers. What's your read on the Falcons defense entering 2020 Well, it's an uncertain situation obviously went on God. Dante Fowler, Dad's pressure off the edge contact. McKinley realized what they thought they had when they drafted him a couple of years and the number one spot picked up Charles Haley, who, ironically, was in the same draft. And raided a route the same attack McKinley are Charles Harris. I'm sorry. Charles. Charles Charles Haley. Right way. I'd like to have the guy that was rushing the pastor there for both the Cowboys in the 40 Niners. That would be great, but Harris. He does have some raw talent there. Can't he realize that I'm the Falcon Tutelage will have to wait and see Grady dear. It's an emerging star in the tackle position and Marlon Davidson, Vienna and an interesting ad, a guy that has the versatility to play inside. Maybe in past situations and also play the perimeter as a 34 defensive didn't run down situations. The answer at all Burn second round draft pick of the fact that they think they've upgraded their defensive line. It'll have to be upgraded because you get extremely young secondary. Probably gonna have a rookie a corner starting your nickels, a second year guy in your other corners of third year, guys, So there's a lot of young players on the perimeter need to get some pass rush speed up the thought process for the quarterback. Let's get to the final down. Alright. I'm surprised that Dan Quinn is Bacca's the head football coach for the Lancer Falcons. What does he have to do this year to keep his job and Is that seats the warm because, like I said, I was surprised that they brought him back for this year. It is warm. I think that it's fortunate they brought him back because of the current situation with the pandemic and the uncertainties, so some continuity certainly has played into Atlanta Falcons off season. I think they've had a solid offseason, much as you can, with the limitations. They're attached to this year, So I think that it was good in retrospect that, uh, Mr Black decided to keep Dan Quint on, but I think he's got there. They've got a bit pushed for a playoff spot. I think they've got to be. They can't come out of the box one in seven. It's got to be a team. It's in the hunt of the entire way. As you said, it's going to be outstanding division with outstanding quarterback play, but they have to be in the hunt to be a part of the postseason play. If they do that. And I think the fans will be a little bit of stab on the wound for the fans. But if you get out to a slow start, it would not surprise me. If if Mr Blank made some kind of decision mid season on coach Boy and I think, coach when is the right guy for the job Now it's put up or shut up. He scored a touchdown will go for two here Oscar. One more question This team was 11 5 We all know the deal they were in the Super Bowl blew the 28 23 lead. The next year, they did go 10 and six, the last two years. It's seven and nine. If you had to identify the biggest reason why this team has regressed, and I know they've had some injuries to but overall if it's not the health of the team, what's the biggest thing that you look at? Why this team wasn't able to recreate that magic from 2016 and 2017? I think their inconsistency ball on both sides of the football in conversion, down situations and in the red zone. I think Atlanta's done a great job of moving the ball from 20 to 20 But when they get in the red zone, they bogged down and settle for too many threes. And I think in turn the defense's side of the football. What about 22 23 scoring defense coming up 25 points a game. They've got to find a way to get more stops in the red zone. That's probably the answer that you could probably get from all teams struggled and not made the playoff teams, but I certainly think That that's identifiable with the Falcons over the last couple years, the inability down deep in the red Zone both on offensive defense, Julio Jones, he's Ah Hall of Fame player. We all know that one of the better wide receivers in the league He's only had one year of double digit touchdowns, going back to 2012 when he had 10 TUC maybe 10 touchdowns in his fortunes this year. Well, I think he's certainly capable of it. But you got an outstanding receiver on the other side of Calvin Ridley, who's realized his abilities down in the red Zone Pretty close. I think Aidan hearse is going to be a seamless transition from Austin Hooper tight end spot So there are a lot of weapons from that Ryan to get the football too. Don't forget Todd Gurley and how good he is at the back catching the football as well. So I I would say no, I think he's going to be 89 touchdowns. I don't think he goes double digits, but I think there's a lot of guys around him. They're going to score touchdowns. Look for guys somewhere between 13 14 guys catch touchdown passes issue. Say that we appreciate it. Thanks so much. You be well, my

Imagine it Forward and Goodr
"To another episode of Zero, to IPO were absolutely thrilled to have to amazing guests on the show today I wanna I introduce Beth comstock who for many years in fact, almost three decades was at GE and served as the vice chairperson. There is on the board of Nike is also the author of this amazing book called imagine it forward, which I am really enjoying and learning a lot from and have a bunch of questions to ask Beth about the. Beth welcome on the show. Thanks Josh. Great to see you great to be here. And our other guests is Jasmine crow who is the CEO and founder of Gooder, which is a company that I am fascinated by I. think it's one of the more insightful companies that I've come across. Recently I also have a lot of questions for you Jasmin about how the idea came to you, but but welcome on the show. Thanks so much gas and happy to be here. Of course, we've got Freddie caressed my co host. Zeroed IPO your morning Josh, how you doing good I bet and Jasmine, nice to see you. Thanks for joining us today I'm super excited about today. Yeah me too good to see you. Well, let's dive right in because we have a lot to talk about Jasmine I wanNA start with you and I want to understand I want our audience to understand where you're coming from. When you started gooder there's some kind of basic facts that I want our audience to understand domestically we are wasting seventy-two billion pounds of food every year while forty two million people are struggling with food insecurity absolutely that's a foundational mess. And it's even worse. Now, I'll of everything that's happening with current virus who are wasting more food and more people are going hungry. So it is a huge issue. Yeah. I mean just to be clear before this even. I read somewhere that we were wasting about a quarter trillion dollars a year on food in the United States if people number eight is that right? Yeah. Right Frederick in. So I guess to put an even more simpler context about two percent of GDP is on wasted food for that's a lot of money spent on food that never gets eaten in this country does Like many people I have some passing familiarity with this I. Read about it I don't even know where to start and it seems like maybe you go out and you you know you try to donate food as best you can and and I think that's maybe where you started. Yeah and it transformed into something quite extraordinary. So yeah if you know Josh I started feeding people that were experiencing hunger and homelessness in two thousand thirteen out of my apartment in Atlanta Georgia So that's where got started I found a parking. Lot I drove past it one day and I just saw hundreds of people that were homeless in in something kind of just pulled on my heartstrings at that moment and I said I wanNA help you know what do I didn't have a ton of money and I knew I could cook and so I just went home I post it on facebook I mean Sunday. I'm going to go downtown and I'm going to feed on the streets. If. You want to join me I had about twenty volunteers I made a spaghetti dinner. And loved it. You know brought out my little beats pill at the time, which wasn't that loud outside. Dating us, you're dating we know exactly when you're store your. Heckling when it happened so I really wasn't that loud music thing. But I have bad and you know the idea was it would be old school kind of Sunday music why Jackson five and Aretha Franklin James Brown like this classic kind of music and a good Sunday dinner, and that's how it all got started in. So of eighty own from one of my pop up restaurants went viral on facebook and people are saying this is so amazing which restaurants donate the food and the reality was nobody I was couponing on price matching I always say, I'm the reason Walmart doesn't price-match anymore I definitely feel like i. gave them a run for him. And then I was cooking thing taking it downtown, serving it coming home cleaning up, and so it would take me like forty hours every week I did this and I started researching food ways and was really like upset like I can't believe this much food goes to waste in here I. Am you know putting together five dollar donations and my own money and trying to make these feeding is happening to feed five hundred people
20 Minutes About Metabolic Fitness
"Everyone it's Martin from twenty minutes fitness. I'm here in San Francisco and I'm connected to levels founder Josh, Clementi Josh. Why don't you to be yourself? Martin's great to be on the show I mean on I'm josh, founder of levels and John Interested in bringing metabolic fitness to the mainstream rates, and so what does everyday mean? What is Metabolic Chiasso metabolism? Easy Way to think about metabolism is the set of cellular mechanisms that create energy from our food and environment that. So this is how we power the processes in our body ourselves bringing fuel and they turn it into energy and so metabolic fitness or metabolic health is when those systems are. Operating properly and you have often energy weight balanced performance without excess byproducts and so the way that that we're doing this is using continuous glucose monitoring hardware software analytics to close the loop between actions you take every single day in your daily life and the reactions, your body experiences in particular, the blood sugar response, your body experiences, and so this is this is the level, is that closing loops between action reactions the way that behavior change becomes eating, easy and obvious I, and so we're the first metabolic fitness company greenest market, and how do you define an excess byproduct like at what point you have too much nutrition what is it exactly? So, the some of the easy ways to think about this art glucose itself. So this is a it's sugar essentially, this is a molecule that is the primary energy molecule in the human body so that metabolism functionality that we talked about is driven primarily off of glucose sugar and fat, and so when you're consuming sugar, it releases into the bloodstream and You know this is actually just tipping carbohydrates while they sugars that interest the bloodstream, and so this triggers a cascade of processes, hormonal processes, and those tell your body, how to op sort of appropriate that Lucas, into the cells for for their useless contrived things like weight gain can. Be for muscle expenditure for energy using mechanical loads on a commute for cognitive function in the brain. But those laws get too high. You actually have an inflammatory situation because Lucas is a very reactive molecule it produces what are called free radicals, inflammatory cytokines. I'll sixteen alpha you know these different molecule byproducts of glucose reactions that actually are very inflammatory and can cause breakdown of tissues and skin glaciation, which is right leads to Browning of the skin and wrinkles. All these byproducts that ultimately are are not good for us. So there's a fine balance and glucose is meant to be kept in tight control and that's what we mean by byproducts. Normally unless you have diabetes, you should not have resistance to insulin release right so how does that really matter van for you know everyday use that a non diabetic being that we have been since glucose is the primary energy source for for the modern person we've studied the Post Disease State of Glucose for for many decades. So this is called diabetes typically type two diabetes which a lifestyle driven illness that sets in your body can no longer respond to insulin you can't use glucose in. Your bloodstream effectively, it gets really high toxic levels. So we studied that quite a bit but the thing is that all of us across the metabolic spectrum from healthy to to less healthy are all using net glucose and so there is an optimization function here where because these mechanisms are linear you know it's not it's not like a a threshold where you cross over it, and then suddenly you're unhealthy that's kind of how start thought about a me to think about this metabolic fitness meaning the choices. We make require focus effort and repetition to achieve optimization. So it doesn't matter where you fall on the spectrum metabolic health de Choices you're making today are affecting your hormonal cascade causing qualitative experiences in causing quantifiable to potentially detrimental effects like weight gain, where's performance exercise cognitive decline sort of all of the things that we struggle with our day-to-day are affected by the choices we're making that we don't really connect because we don't have that close loop system. So now by by showing that the person who. Doesn't have diagnose metabolic dysfunction. You can optimize your choices daily see the data in real time, make better ones, and then achieved this sort of metabolic control where instead of having these this roller coaster of spikes and crashes in energy issues, and again wait gained the rollercoaster. We all ride day today that we kind of use our emotions feel way through. You cannot have data and you can use that to achieve this the state of balanced control and you know lower flatter smoother continual on metabolic control.

Our Season Finale Starring the Founders of She Podcasts and Skyes husband Don
"Hello and welcome to inside podcasting the show in which creators discussed their craft. I'm your host. Sky. Pillsbury. This is a post show episode, but we're doing things just a little differently today I all chat with Elsie Escobar and Jessica Kupperman about last week's interview with sixteen nineteen producers, a Diese Egan and Anti Brown Jessica and Elsie our the founders of she podcasts a community that helps women and non binary podcasters through every step of their podcast journey. The pair met online years ago and joined forces to create a free facebook group that now has over seventeen thousand members. Jessica Elsie also hosts a really fun podcast called she podcasts in which they talk about all things podcasts, and they are the founders of she podcast live an in person conference I attended their inaugural event last year and it was wonderful. Their next event is scheduled for next. October. that's October of twenty twenty. One For the second half of our show due to popular demand I am bringing back my husband. We will take a look back at the season. I hope you enjoy today's conversations and I'll be back at the end to wrap things up. I am thrilled today to have with me, Elsie Escobar and Jessica Cup for men who are the founders of she podcasts. They are also the women I consider to be my podcast Mama's. Even. Though I am almost one hundred percent sure that I'm over than them both. So with that welcome Jessica and Elsie, I'm so happy to have you here. Think. You yes. All right guys you are my guest hosts and I'm your subject and I'm ready for you go. Just you have the questions I will chip in. Okay. There are so many shows and episodes right now in podcasting about race and racial relations. So why did sixteen nineteen speak to you specifically? Honestly it made me feel angry that I had not Known so much of what was talked about in this podcast. Hadn't learned any of it in school and I went to a very good public school and yet I felt like everything I was hearing felt new to me obviously I knew basic facts about Abraham Lincoln and the civil war and things like that. But I did not understand any of the nuance and I certainly did not understand how happened what felt like so long ago right it did sorta feel to me like ancient history did not understand how connected it was to our current world. For example, healthcare I had no idea that I mean our healthcare's. Louis it was mind blowing like the fact that we have the worst healthcare system of any developed nation and the fact that that can be traced. So clearly back to the fact that we did not want to allow black enslaved people or even black UNIN slaved people to have equal healthcare. You know the fact that we can trace that back is. Rushing and tragic, and it's tragic for all of us you know and those kinds of realizations just felt so jarring and I had a real emotional reaction to listening to the podcast both because I just felt so much more empathetic to people who are living the black experience in the US but also it was also emotional because I felt cheated of that knowledge and so the reason why I wanted to talk to the people and I still feel so incredibly fortunate that I was able to get them on the show and bring shine. Any kind of light on that for other people was incredibly rewarding and that's why I wanted to have him on on the show they. It's funny. I've thought about this like they talk in the episode about how they want to lift up Nicole's work and I felt that in talking to them, I was hoping to lift up their work and Nicole's work. You know sort of getting even more Meta here but just wanting people to recognize and see this podcast and maybe have the same kind of transformative experience listening to it that I did.
How Do Tanuki Work?
"In June of twenty, two, thousand, nineteen, a couple in a small village in Nottinghamshire Great. Britain woke at four am to an eerie sound they ventured out and discovered an animal that never seen before his thing and attacking a goat on their farm. After rescuing the goat they took a photo of the beast and promptly posted it online. The animal was four-legged and fluffy. It moved like a dog but had a face and markings like a raccoon. It turns out there unwanted visitor was a canoe Katie sometimes called a raccoon dog. To learn more about these unusual critters we talked by email to Jennifer Andrew, a member of the carnivore team at Zuid Lanta she helps take care of zoo, Atlanta's to to NUKII or and Loki. Zoo, Atlanta is just one of two zoos in the United States that houses to not the other is the Oklahoma City Zoo. Indra explained to new key our dogs genetically and morphological logically speaking they get the nickname raccoon dog primarily because of their similar coloring and coat patterns. The only other true similarity raccoons is that they occupy the same niche as raccoons do in nature even though they live on different partners. To NUKII range in size from about one point, five to two feet long that's about point four, five, two point, nine meters with a tail adding another six inches or one point, five meters they weigh anywhere from eight to twenty, two pounds around three and a half to ten kilos therefore can be golden great or reddish brown but their shoulders, legs, and the tips of their tails are blocked and their facial markings are similar to a raccoons including the black mask around the eyes. They're originally from eastern Asia including Japan, which is where the word to new key comes from, and where the animal is a cultural icon images of have appeared in everything from folklore and literature to anime and advertising the mythological versions sometimes called Buckeye Nukii, our spirit creatures, tricksters, and shape shifter's that love gold and are often depicted with a big belly and a particularly large scrotum. Many modern Japanese businesses, displays statues of to represent prosperity and good luck. To not the animals, not the spirits where brought the northern and Eastern Europe due to fur-farming back in the nineteen twenties it's believed some new key managed to escape and began to live and breathe in that region. The HABITAT, they're most comfortable living in would typically be described as forested everything from deciduous trees to evergreens, but they can live in urban and coastal areas they like living near water. When they're in the wild Turkey to picky about meals as forager's they'll eat anything from frogs, birds, and rats to berries and carrion that is vet animals to not have been known to forage in garbage cans or pick over roadkill areas inhabited by humans. But do life is a little different, not only art Niki given different food to eat including kibble hard boiled eggs, veggies and fish. But because they're naturally forager's and a non foraging, setting their caregivers look for ways to make feeding time a little more challenging. Andrew said, we like to scatter their diet throughout their habitats to encourage natural foraging behaviors. They also enjoy interacting with problem-solving enrichment devices that encourage behaviors such as biting, chewing, ripping shredding, smelling digging, and dragging.
Shake Milton’s Late 3-Pointer Saves Philadelphia Sixers In Win Over San Antonio Spurs
"Despite a not so great fourth quarter sixers pulled off the win last night against the spurs with the go ahead three pointer by shake for a one, thirty, two, thirty, win. The sixers had to fight back after losing a fourteen point lead in the fourth coach. Brett Brown had this to say about his team after the game take a listen. I think it stinks. I think it's not anything that that we are a believing or talk about. we will very lucky to win tonight. You know when to close out periods of an against Indiana was forty, six tonight it was forty three. That that is not going to get anything of any importance start. The good news is well within our reach immediately to flip the switch.

Drawer Liners for Kitchens & Bathrooms
"Hi there I'm Christina Browning your host. If you feel like your household frustrations are stealing away your life hour by hour I discuss home functionality aesthetics and automation with a bit of history and a little psychology. This isn't your typical house podcast. I'm a realtor in Portland Oregon and a home functionality coach nationwide. I gig out on various subjects regarding your home. And Yard challenging you to think of your space differently to get the most out of every square foot I post questions for you to think through about your space and reason, this podcast is all positive making adulting easier one podcast at a time. Remember there's no such thing as perfect but you can still aim for your best every day episode thirty seven. You might remember episode eight be where I did a special video edition about creating family photo albums to hold many sentimental things it went over. So well that I promised myself, I would do another one. The next time I spoke about a topic that would need the same visual support, and here we are in this mini episode. Let's discuss home functionality and aesthetics as it pertains to drawer liners for kitchens and bathrooms. They will protect shelves and drawers from surface damage that can happen from water left on dishes when you unload the dishwasher or the oil and stain rings that can transfer from the bottoms of food and sauce containers. Think, ahead for a moment using shelf liner with adhesive on, it can wreak havoc on the shelf or drawer surface. Eventually when you have to scrape it aggressively away to get it off. This results in dense and divots and scratches that are cumbersome or impossible to remove. So thinking about drawer liner in this way like as if you were to fast forward into the future, it makes more sense to add a pre cut padded type liner or cork liner that slightly lifts things up off direct contact with the bottom versus using temporary wallpaper type liner that although cute will absorb. All those things and transfer them straight through to the drawer anyway also, you've got that adhesive challenge for the long haul you'll appreciate the sound muffling benefits when you have more of a padded scenario with less banging and scraping of dishes and glassware on the would they can also be removed and washed as needed. But how much of a pain is it cutting all the drawer liners to size? Such a pain
Around The World On 50 Bucks With Christopher Schacht
"Hello Travel Nerds, and welcome to the extra pack of peanuts travel podcast. The show that teaches you how to travel more. While spending less I'm your host Travis Sherry and joining me today as someone who has hitchhiked across oceans who started off on a four year journey around the world with only fifty dollars in his pocket and came home with a wife and who is a fellow twin Christopher shot author of around the world on Fifty Bucks Christopher. Thanks for joining me a huge. Welcome. To Be Masao, I am very excited to chat with you and I my trial. We say that teaches you how to travel more while spending less. But today you're going to be the one who's the expert in that because you have certainly Done that on your adventure, but before we start talking about all this. I saw that you were twin mentioned somewhere on one of your sights and you said your twin is the exact opposite of you. So explain that how is he the exact opposite view? Okay Festival. From the parents and I have blonde hair blue eyes. I'm about one one, eighty, three centimeters I think that's something like six foot. Tall and my brothers about ten centimeters about three inches smaller taller than me. And but then this is only the outside parties, Brown hair Brown eyes but from the inside, I'm sort of the person who wants to go out and explore the adventures type of person and teas such a comfortable home drawn guys. So he would rob a die Ben leaving his nice comfy home and bad and toilet. So yeah, actually this was what his concerns that I was going on this world trip. You said, okay maybe you don't want to miss this opportunity for all the money in the world, but I wouldn't WanNa do it for the money in the world so tell me why are you gonNa go to the toilet while you're out in the woods and all that? and. We're going to sit here on my is heated. Toilet. Yeah. It's crazy right how you can have the same upbringing same parents and yet be completely different especially when it comes to personalities. I tend to say in those times is benedict. You know that I'm five minutes older new. So once you will hit my age, we'll talk again. Okay. That's an awesome line. It's interesting because you know obviously twins or not that uncommon, but don't be a ton of people. And I'm a twin myself. Now I have a twin sister and we are we are very much different in in most ways like I think people who know US say all they're pretty different, but then every once in a while. And I feel like I'm either acting like her I say something I'm like, Oh, I sound like my sister. So is there ever I? Know you say your exact opposites but are there any times or any situations where you do see yourselves sharing certain things? There's traits. Totally. So especially humour when we will in the same class, only one glance to each other would be enough to just burst out laughing and everybody else. would be like what's going on This is so crazy, and until until today there is no other person on this planet who I laugh with so much like with my brother. So that's really amazing. I love this guy even though we are completely different we get along very very well. Yeah that is awesome and yeah, people always ask me well, how what is it like to be a twin? How's IT different? I don't know because I don't know what it's like not to to end right so. There's also the strange telephone thing is creepy. Mind conduct going on that cannot really explain alycia twin for sure for sure. So let's talk about your journey a bit a journey that as as your brother put it, you would not give up for all the money in the world and he wouldn't go on for all the money in the world and you left on this journey fifty dollars in your pocket no plan. So when you first laughed how long in your head, did you actually think it would last? So, I left on the first of July two, thousand thirteen and at that point of course, all my relatives wanted to know Christopher how long are you going to be gone for and I? talked them off as saying well I don't know if I'd give you a deadline. Then you would say probably after two years crucify you said you're going to be back after two years. So now where you are. and. I when I avoid that I will need as long as I need. So no timeframe at all. That's usually what I said brushed them off like this but secretly I I actually thought about two years and then later on it turned out to be far because it's definitely not enough to get once around the world without
Origin Stories: Joe Coulombes Quirky Legacy at Trader Joes
"From wondering I'm David. Brown and this is business wars daily on this Monday August third. During the pandemic, the news has been rushing by faster than a bullet train. It's easy to get caught up in the daily news overlook the big picture. So this week we're taking a little step back in looking at the origin stories of some of America's most iconic companies I in our series trader. Joe's it's founder Joe Colom died in. March, at the age of eighty nine trader Joe's of course, is the neighborhood grocery chain that transformed millions of people, shoppers, and employees alike into cult-like fans. The impact of his markets has been so significant that the Washington Post called Coloma cultural icon there's no trader Joe's near You well, let me. Step back for just a second and tell you the story. It was nineteen, sixty, seven Joe Coolum. Thirty seven had built a chain of eighteen convenience stores in California when gigantic seven eleven came along and he realized he couldn't compete according to the New York Times. The had to find something else to do one day. Kulam read that sixty percent of young people who were qualified to go to college. We're going thank you GI bill. He also read that Boeing was building a plane, the seven, thirty seven that would give more people the opportunity to travel overseas the assumed more international travel would make Americans pallets more adventurous New York Times reported. The idea for trader Joe's a store with fresh produce, sophisticated flavors and good wine affordable prices was born he opened the first one in Pasadena California that year famously Kulon conceived of Trader Joe's is a store for the quote over educated and underpaid his stores would serve budding foodies who wanted something more than they could get it typical supermarkets but who couldn't pay a fortune for it and something? More was what he built quirky stores with. South. Seas flair shelves stocked with Exotic Cheeses and gourmet foods from other countries and eventually natural foods and organic produce. He also trained cashiers to be both friendly and authentic a tradition that continues. So strongly today that following colognes death one woman tweeted name one mental health professional that could teach me as much about emotional intimacy as a trader. Joe's cashier. The hawaiian-shirted workers often seem so unusually pleasant that people ask why they seem so happy. It isn't simply good customer service training that accounts for the smile. It's no Colom also believed in treating employees well, today according to the trader Joe's claims that its workers are among the industry's best compensated employees they receive annual raises ranging from seven to ten percent health insurance starts on. Day One more than one person tweeted that trader Joe's covered health crises that other companies would likely not such as the woman who claimed that her colleague faced a two million dollar bill for brain cancer treatments. But with trader, Joe's health insurance he paid nothing as the A. P. noted, many workers have stayed with trader Joe's for decades in an industry marked by high turnover. From colognes ethics good food at affordable prices came hundreds of store brand items like Granola in one, thousand, nine, hundred, ninety, two unheard of cookie butter and frozen Mac and cheese
Wendy Osefo on the Black Lives Matter protests, and the 2020 election
"I'm Jim Taylor skinner, and this is the electorate. On this episode. A have a conversation with Wendy Osafo when he is a political commentator and a professor of education at Johns. Hopkins. University, she also served on the Obama Administration's anti-poverty initiative when he joins me to talk about everything from the current political climate to the recent black lives matter protests. We also discussed recent polling of the twenty twenty presidential election, and of course, many many failings of the trump administration. So without further ADO, here's my conversation with Wendy Assefa. Welcome to the broadcast. Thank you for having me. I really wanted to talk to you about this moment in history because I saw a tweet, the other day that really got my attention I think it was from Congresswoman Anna Presley and she said that the civil rights movement didn't in it didn't end and that we're living right now it's ongoing and I think that that's pretty you know accurate what's happening in the streets with black lives matter protests you know what do you think this moment actually means I think this moment right now is a defining moment in our country. And our nation I think that what we have to realize is that without cameras, this has been the backdrop of the lives of black people for years is just so happens that the death of George Floyd was videotaped but this has happened so many times in enough is enough I was told people you know I'm so happy that black lives matter has become a battle cry that people more aware about now in twenty twenty but I remember marching when black lives matters started before was even Hashtag with the death of Trayvon Martin it was the death and killing trayvon Martin that. Ignited the hash black lives matter and so I say all that to say, you know the civil rights movement was a time that we look to as a historic time society and we came through that as a nation but it hasn't ended because just evolved in different ways, and that's what people have to understand and I'm just so excited to see different faces, different races, different backgrounds really fighting now because it's going to take our nation to come together as one in order for us to end systemic racism. Now you're absolutely right it has evolved right? That's the perfect word. For it and when I think about you know what you just said marching when Trayvon Martin was murdered a movement was kind of in its infancy. But what I think is really interesting now is the reaction from conservatives now that people are marching around the world for black lives matter they their reactions were really extreme Ryan, I mean it's like splashed holy water on them like what do you think that they think black lives matter actually means what does it mean to them? You hear people saying like not in my town you're not gonNA bring black lives matter into Maya. Town. Yeah I think is really interesting in the way I. Answer. This question may actually be controversial I think that they are very clear what black lives matter means I think they are very clear but black lives matter stands for, but they don't want to accept what black lives matters means because if they do that means that they are accepting that this country's inherently racist and that's the truth and as uncomfortable truth we are saying black lives matter because black lives are the ones that are under attack were saying black lives matter because the statistics show that black and Brown children in schools are treated differently. That's why we're seeing black. Lives matter but you see it's not just black lives. Matter is black lives matter because black lives have been treated as less than for so many years in this country. So I think that conservatives are fully aware of what this means I think that is willful ignorance for them to say, no black lives with not only to accept that is not the Hashtag that the issue is the premise of the Hashtag doesn't issue and I think that when we're having these conversations with people, these are people who are elected Congress people they're pretty smart. You know they're pretty erudite nature, and so you know these are the same. Individuals who say because they're conservatives that a baby's life matters at the beginning of Jess station. You don't have to come out of the womb for your life to matter but soon as your created your life matters and therefore they're against abortion. So if they're able to understand that a baby's life matters at the beginning of creation than I'm pretty sure that they're competent enough to understand that black lives matter because black lives are the ones under
Ben Shapiro on the Michael Brown Shooting
"I'm old enough to remember when Barack Obama went out there during the Ferguson riding and said, people don't make up things like this. He was talking about the Michael Brown shooting Michael Brown shooting by the way, it was a good shoot. In fact, it turns out that after another review of the Michael Brown shooting by officer Darren Wilson, it turns out five years after the six years after the case, the case has been dismissed again, according to the Daily wire. Amanda Prestigiacomo reporting ST Louis County Prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell announced on Thursday he will not be bringing charges against former Ferguson Police Department officer Darren Wilson were fatally shot Michael Brown, 18 back in 2014. Ring, a Thursday press conference. They'll announced the news by prefacing it as quote one of the most difficult things I've had to do, noting that his heart breaks before the Browns. The question for the office was a simple one could prove beyond a reasonable doubt. And when Darrin Wilson shot Michael Brown, he committed murder or manslaughter under Missouri law, Bell asked after an independent and in depth review of the evidence, we cannot prove that he did. He, by the way, is the county's first blast. Black prosecutor he reopen, reopen the case after taking office. One of the reasons he gained office is because of disapproval for no case against Darren Wilson, the first place and then he looked at the evidence, he said, Sorry. We can't actually make a case at his office conducted a five month review of witness statements, forensic reports and other evidence, the AP noted, adding his investigation does not exonerate Darren Wilson. But it's not the way the criminal justice process works. If you're not convicted, that doesn't mean you're not. Exactly that does not mean that you are exonerated. There is no exonerated standard in criminal law. There's just not prosecuted. So you also get to Claire not exonerated. That's not the way this works. L said. I know this is not the result they were looking for and that the pain will continue forever. Jim tally, Wilson's attorney noted Belle's review had the same conclusion as Bells predecessor. A grand jury and the usdoj was Obama's deal J. By the way, there was no crime. The Obama Justice Department at the time, pointed out that there was no crime but doesn't matter. Democrats have continued to lie about the Michael Brown shooting and use it as the basis for a political campaign to suggest that America and police officers are deeply
We're All in the Same Storm But Not in the Same Boat
"You may have seen them facebook. Instagram meam or all the means that twitter mean about the pandemic? It's the one that says we are not all in the same boat, but we are in the same storm. I heard. People say that I heard people say. Well, at least we're all in the same boat. In fact, I think I have said it. But you know the pandemic quickly exposed the hard facts that, despite dealing with the same storm quote, unquote. We are all riding it out in very different boats. Summer and yet! Some fishing boat, and some are hanging on for dear life as they fly roughly down a series of rapids on an overturned canoe. We are not in the same boat. You know some are enjoying a pause in their frenetic lives. binge-watching net flicks some are still employed, and maybe even T- making more money than before, but others are working two jobs and trying to home school their kids. Some of already buried loved ones and others are still fighting for their lives. And some are fighting for their freedoms. Some are zooming happy hours with friends every day and others are watching their child through a pane of glass at the hospital or waving from a sidewalk to a loved one in a nursing home. Some are angry. Some are board. Some are lonely. Summer terrified. Some are trapped inside with someone who is abusive. The pandemic quickly exposed the deep inequities. People live with every day. INEQUITIES! Of Income. Education. And Opportunity? Inequalities that fall disproportionately on those of collar are black and Brown brothers and sisters. As a white person I do not pretend to know how the constant challenges caused by having another skin color can change the way you're able to live. Can, take opportunities away. Can threaten your ability to make a living threaten your health and your life. But all these things that are swirling about us right now in this. Swirling see of uncertainty. Are Questions really and I? Don't have answers. And as we teaching Buddhism, it is about sitting with the questions sitting with the uncertainty. Sitting with fear. Anger and even rage every day during these unbelievably awful times I realized I am becoming a different person. Each new experience I sit with is a learning moment for me to grow and change and be challenged to evolve. Is learned to meditate in the morning every day, breathing and feeling my body and mind alive in what is in my own present moment. Listening to birds at sunrise, and enjoying the smells and sounds of the morning in the yard and garden. In doing that, I realized I was happy and grateful. Yet the pandemic still exists yet yet civil unrest -rageous You may have heard this quote by Tibidot Han. WHO said quote when the crowded Vietnamese refugee boats met with storms or pirates? If everyone panicked, all would be lost. But, if even one person on the boat remained calm and centered, it was enough. It showed the way for everyone to survive unquote. These are the questions to ask ourselves during these times. Questions to help us remain centered, and that picked up and carried off by fear anxiety. Anger. Rage ask yourself. What does it mean to you to be calm and centered? ASK YOURSELF IN TIMES OF TROUBLE? Can you embrace what you are feeling? Ask Yourself. How did you survive a fearful experience or one of complete? Before.

"Okay so we're back our modell. He's in Baltimore. Super strange any makes a speech at Camden yards. Which is where the Baltimore Orioles play. Video Baltimore rejoiced Monday as Cleveland Browns. Owner Art Modell announced his intention to move the story browns franchise to Baltimore and announces that he's relocating the Browns to Baltimore for the ninety sixties literally for the next season. No girl this blindsided everyone. Her Dad must have been devastated Walkman. Walk me through your whole like what was happening that night in your home. I want you to know that like the next day like I had school and like every class started with teachers being like I was like a version count there avail Allen. Let's let's take a minute to process what has happened. It was a big deal like everyone was blindsided. The coach the city. The team like everyone this asshole. Total devastation chaos. I mean this team is literally the heart of the city for some. It was too much to be sad to see them. Go how to react. Some knew exactly what they wanted to do. Fans the stadium seats to them as momentum. Thirty one were torn out taking home. Memento others ripped off seats in on the stadium grounds. A woman's crying man says he's devastated. Was that woman you now. You're thinking I was a tiny baby like and now you're like where you this yesterday told is this. How old is retina? A highlander was born in one thousand. Nine seventy seven so fans reportedly through faxes member of those guys over the walls of the NFL offices. In Cleveland. Fun which is just brush pass through. They must have been like. I'm I'm picturing like a photocopier machine. The paper like the faxes angry fans papers like paper. Humans a machine. Maybe people were upset like actually probably machine or to was thrown. They sent like so much mail and so many phone calls to the NFL franchise owners. They like took to TV radio and newspapers to protest calling your senators cardiac kids. T shirts replaced with mucks. Odell t shirts you get it you get with that meant. I need that as well. I need all of this merch. That's amazing and this was so big. A ton of huge companies pulled their sponsorships McDonald's and continental Ireland. It was so good when the as Shitty as it is. Money is what it's all about. That's it so like legit here. Mc Donald's and Continental Airlines. I don't know if you remember them at the time. They Cleveland with one of their hubs. Anyway they were like we want no part of this madness. These people are angry and guess what a lot of people in Cleveland eat. Mcdonald's even the Pittsburgh steelers who are legit are hated rivals like there is no love lost between these two teams. They're our biggest rival. They like their fans protested because they understood. What a big deal. This was your on my show of support as a football fan that you would recognize that that to be a terrible thing season ticket holders of the browns brought a class action lawsuit against Modell who settled for three million dollars. Whatever you don't subtle unless you guilty so it was basically like art. Modell saying to a city thing you plan your whole autumn around that thing that keeps you moving through those brutal. Cleveland winters literally one of the mainstays. That your identity is defined by. Well I'm taking it away till Baltim- and you don't have any time. It's happening at the end of the season so that maybe one of the craziest innings is that he gives no time. It's not like we're GONNA move out here from now. So let's have like these big laying hourly now nothing no time to grieve. It's kind of like how we had no time truly to. And then all of a sudden we were locked in our homes is not true we did have time to prepare and we didn't hear that Donald Trump we had time. Yeah I think he listens to this. Yeah I think he does. So modell was claiming. His money was running low and his patience was wearing thin and so he had to move. Here's the deal. Of course Cleveland Curse as ever days. After modell made the announcement public the city passed a referendum that did allow them to fund the improvements on the stadium. That modell had asked for but it was too late. Okay great so then. They don't have to move. No I was. A to lay late already had signed. Oh Hitch Pau facts away. So modell expressed a lot of sadness. This has been a very very tough road for my family and for me I leave Cleveland. Ohio thirty five years and leave my heart. Good part of my heart and soul there can never forget the clients of the people of Cleveland. The fans it's afforded the browns for years with frankly came down to a simple proposition. I had no choice. Okay so never forget the kindness of the people. Yeah you forgot it. The second you took the team to Baltimore Bitch please. Fuck that mow down knows what he did. He knew what it meant. He broke the heart of an entire city. And don't give me money argument modell. Here's my thing you a multimillionaire. Once we're talking about twenty thirty forty million dollars like you got plenty of money. His family was fine. It's like old rich white men and their money always being on brand. Always just hoarding that. Shit to this day even in a pandemic. I'M GONNA stop. We're not here for that. We're here to be distracted from that. I can't imagine though with the amount of fans that the browns had in Cleveland like. Are you really GonNa make that much more money in Baltimore? Have like these diehard fans here already the. Nfl operates at such a high profit. Like this guy's doing fine. I don't WanNa hear it. So even the players on the browns were completely rattled. This city has some of the greatest fans in sports. So they're very connected to it. They were so rattled that this team that was predicted by many to get to the Super Bowl that year ended up losing every single game for the rest of the season except for one against the bengals. Who's their rival rough? I hope that they did that on purpose. I hope that they did that on. Were the fans because they were like screw this guy fingers. Let me ask you this. The game against the Bengals was it a home game. Yes yes absolutely. They were doing it for the fans and I commend. They're like we're gonNA give you one big win against our big rival. Yeah but other than that. That's going to be the most devastating thing. Yeah so wait when he and made this announcement. How many games into the season do you know halfway halfway through a fucking asshole year? That's like I'm always talking about how Jerry Jones likes to meddle with the cowboys and like literally go and talk to media. How terrible is quarterback was right after the game? Yeah but like there were some meddling sorcery. That'S INSANE BUT CLEVELAND. Being Cleveland did not go down without a fight. A judge granted the city an injunction that led to modell being required to adhere to the terms of a contract. He signed with the city back in one thousand nine hundred seventy three and the terms of that contract stated that the city would retain the name of the browns the team's colors logos and records. Okay what happened was basically Cleveland would get the browns back in nineteen ninety nine as an expansion team and modell would receive a new franchise that would become known as a Baltimore Ravens so we would get like the name of the browns and the colors on the logo and all of that when we get to stay being called though Brown. Yeah and he he would take the entire browns roster for his new franchise. So it's like a small victory for Cleveland but ultimately modell gets the better deal because the truth is being an expansion team is hard like modell got to take the biggest piece of what may the Browns Brown which is the actual team super bowl winning team while no never wanna see almost. How almost Laurie so anyway? When you're an expansion team you're building from scratch. There's no franchise player. You're starting with no solid Olin. That's already in place you know. We get to keep the name in the colors and logos and the records. But we're basically a baby franchise starting at square one and that usually means you're bad for awhile and guess what we were. It's been a while we've only had two winning seasons in two thousand two in two thousand and seven since the expansion one playoff.

BROWNS Cleveland officially introduced Kevin Stansky earlier. Today he spent fourteen seasons as an assistant in Minnesota and this will be his first head coaching job at any level. Here he is which trotter. Kevin Your thoughts on coaching quarterback Baker. Mayfield in in. Where do you think that you'll be able to help him? I think he's a supremely talented player. I think you've seen his skill set over the last couple of years what he's capable of Nobody's as accurate as he is. So I think there's so many tools with Baker his athleticism so I'm eager to get to work with him. I can already imagine some of the schemes that we can run with him but at the end of the day the kid is is is supremely talented and it's just a matter of putting the right pieces around him in addition to Baker. What is the potential of this offense especially with so many big names? Yeah I think it's so important important for us to be able to be multiple. You have to have good players. It's one thing to be multiple and you don't have good players I think we do and I think we have tight ends. We have receivers. We have running back. EXO that allows us to do different things schematically. We don't have to even one personnel group the whole game. We can kind of make sure that we got all of our best players out there on the field. There's been a lot in a a Lotta Talkin Cleveland lately about analytics. What analytics mean to you as a coach and how you might employ them on the field analytics to me is just information statistics? It's it's information when you're making a decision you you'd like to be totally informed and I think that's what we're trying to drive Towards I I will say this. That's in a lot of buildings in the NFL. And I know that we have a pretty special department here so I'm looking forward to working with those guys and I think it's going to be pretty cool. I'm sure you're aware of this. Browns have not been in the playoffs since two thousand two longest drought in the NFL. What is going to be the key to finally turning that around work we gotta make sure that our guys come back to that building and are ready to get to work and Mace telling you we're GONNA do X. buyers these not going to get done we just gotTa buckle down and get to work? Thanks Kevin That's new browns head coach. Kevin Stefanski keep in. Mind John Dorsey he is gone. So Cleveland will also look for GM in the near term when they believe now will need to work in step with Stansky so Jimmy has on the owner also spoke today and he was asked about his ability or his willingness to intervene and be involved with this head. Coach here was his answer. Some bloomer out there reports out there first off that Kevin soon have to meet with you on Mondays after the game is zetter truth to that one will let me ask you if you own the pro football team which you meet with the head coach. SA- Monday after the game. Of course you would I mean. Of course we would rumors out there. Although about presenting the game plan those counter just totally inaccurate in a really think they're irresponsible. We'll look we talked about this earlier when we touched on Stefanski consistency and stability. These are things that have not been in Cleveland. That must be in Cleveland in order for this success to follow so like I mean I i. I hear him the level to which he's going to be involved. I don't know Diana but what I do know is whoever's there needs to be on the same page it sounds like we're whoever put out that information about ownership needing to over game plan. It sounds just like spilt milk. It sounds like Sour Grapes of somebody who didn't get the job and is trying to say I didn't get the job because I don't want to present the game plan to the owner. First of all what owner is even going to go through the game plan and even understand. I mean not not taking away credit from owners. I'm sure they. They know a lot about football but if they don't even speak the same language what are you going to talk about there. I think this is just about synergy. This is what the Cleveland browns are looking for. And I'm in support of that. I think that's a good the idea. I think all the departments should be working together going over the game plan as one so. I don't think it's as you know out of the ordinary to do that. In fact I think it's smart. You know the word that comes to mind when you talk about Cleveland over the last at least five years or so. He's factions right factions. You've seen that we saw hawks. You've seen this group and that group open. I'm against you just not going to work and so to that end do what you have to do to get on. The same thing was too fancy is he has to go into this job not looking over your shoulder and not looking to get fired at the end of the year not looking. He has to look with the stability. He has to be given that stability to be the coach in to take some chances and to not be ridiculed for a mistake he may make here and there he has to feel that stability and that only comes from the top down. And we'll see if that's if that comes to fruition fruition here in Cleveland well no player can play tight right. You can't have a coach. Coaching tight either Roy ownership they want to have be a part of it. You know what I mean and I don't think I've been with other organizations even Clark in Kansas City that I remember taught Haley go meet with him after Games and Scott Pioli and that's a normal thing that organizations nations new now the playbook. That's a little farfetched. Clark wasn't a great owner and a great stewart to this game. I think coached offense gives players are going to start saying he's going to do a great job there and he's got all the tools and and all the football Iq to get it done well and so. I began the new season. A NEW ERA IN CLEVELAND. We say that a lot but anyway it's true all right hat Tuesday. We're not we're going to get right to it. E quarterback new head coach quarterback Combo. You're all in on Diana all right. I'M GONNA go with the Washington redskins Ron Rivera and Wayne Hoskins. I think that Haskins just need a fresh new change there obviously with new head coach. Ron Rivera knows how to win. I think he's great for the quarterback Matt Cassel guys. This is only team I haven't having been on in the. NFL team Baker Mayfield. Let's go boys balanced attack. Rip It around taken that thing off Jack on jumping in line and getting ahead of you. But you're all McCarthy will prove to to serve him in well in terms of what he does offensively. Obviously I'm going with my guys judge. You know I'm not GonNa let him be the talk. We can just too late so you can feel great kids guys. Thanks for having me Victor. I don't right you got fifteen. It's been a day. We're getting ready for championship weekend. The jump is next. Here's your chance to Barbara the castle..

"Twenty percent off a lot of NFL stuff. Going on Ron. Rivera is really good. Riverboat Ron really good by the way. He thanked the media on his twitter account. Today thank thank you. You're critical of me. I always respected you guys just all class right. Let's go cower global satellite network to my information guy love and trust Peter shredder. Good Morning football on the NFL network. Let's START I want to talk about David. Tapper the guy who owns Carolina now so we don't know much about him. He's been there a year. He made some changes on the operation. Side just tell the audience because you hear a lot of rumors in. What kind of guy is he is like a hedge fund guy? He got rid of Ron Rivera. I'm not sure I would have done that. I like Ron a lot. So who is this guy that owns Carolina. I find to be the most fascinating figure maybe in the entire NFL right now. He's not only a Hedge Fund Guy Colin Helen he viewed as maybe the most successful hedge fund manager in the history of American finance took over a company Appaloosas his own Veg Fund left Goldman Sachs. Where guys like Jim Cramer for mad money he was the mentor to Jim? Cramer and immediately built a hedge fund where they were banking twenty billion dollars a year so the financial crisis happens in two two thousand seven everyone flees he doubles down. And says I'm going to trust at the government's not going to let us fail and ends up buying a bunch of different regional banks in acquiring all these different different assets when everyone else left and they were up one hundred fifty percent the next year so he is a visionary and he was also a minority owner of the steelers. Yeah so when the panthers had to get rid of Jerry Richardson. They interviewed a bunch of guys in the League. Who's going to be the next owner? He blew everyone away and said I'm in not only am I in mind for three billion dollars. But I'm gonNA play an aggressive roll here so instead of being passive so I'm GonNa let everything go and see cleaned out the business side. But then watch the panthers on the field this year and was very upfront with Ron Rivera. And said I'M NOT GONNA keep you twisting in the wind. We're not bringing you back next year. I'm going to look you in the eye and tell you we're letting you go but I also want to give you the opportunity to have a press conference on the way out and get a head start preparing for your next job because you will get another job. It was actually as seamless a firing of a head coach. I can imagine both sides seem okay. I spoke to Rivera last night on the phone. He seems fine with it and he's excited for next up. He wants to coach again and he wants to do it fast. I think he's a great fit for the New York giants they let go to Pat Shurmur who I don't think has much much of a presence. They're losing they're losing ugly. Nobody cares it seemingly New York giants Ron Rivera. Make any sense to you. makes a ton of sense. He makes a ton of sense in any market it that a team has talent on the field but seems undisciplined. So I'm not in the business of firing coaches. It's not my thing. I don't ever like saying well. This guy is on the hot seat. If you look around the League League and you look at teams that look undisciplined that have great town on the roster and that just needs to be shaped up because that's what Rivera does he came for two and fourteen team and Carolina. In two years later they won the division title then on the next two division title. So he's in there to get things in order and not only a beloved coach but also beloved guy in the building he will bring you order a military every man and he comes from a long tradition of Andy Reid coaches or these guys seemingly come in and they make you a professional team again. I'm not going to name teams that I think the way out but if you think about certain. NFL teams that need that. He definitely fits the bill. Jim Harbaugh Carolina. You buy the rumors at all. You think that makes any sense. I don't I don't think that temper is looking looking to bring in a guy who's done it. His way twelve different places in his burned like a star and then burned out with those players. I think tempers looking to go young. I think temper is looking to go different and I think bringing in horrible. You're going my way or the highway and that's just not going to work with an owner. WHO's looking to go innovative into zig to the rest of the NFL Zag? So do I have the list of names right now. I would say if I'm David Tepper and I'm looking at what he's interested in analytics new age thinking an offensive minded coach. Who can potentially work with Cam? Newton or whoever their quarterback is next year. I don't see Jim Harbaugh. Who has coached at all these different schools and has burned out with a lot of these different players after a few years and and is currently coming off of a Michigan? Five years that I don't think they're actually pushing them out the door. I don't think they're gonNa be the team that writes a blank. Check for Jim Harbaugh. I just don't see it. What is the March said? Said this for years. I've said this sometimes sports move into you. Sometimes they move out you Russell Westbrook great but now all the league wants from its guards. Can you shoot threes. He does everything being but shoot. Three's cams town that he's the Westbrook of the NFL but the NFL now wants you to complete sixty nine percent of your throws. He's an athlete. WHO's kind of Iraq with accuracy? Accuracy I think the sports kind of moving away from him. But I do think there's a market for CAM like Westbrook landed in Houston. He sells tickets. He's fascinating Cams GonNa Fascinating. What's the market places? You think it would work. Healthy Cam is fascinating. And he hasn't been that guy for three years he's got to go through foot surgery he might not be health even walk until March like. That's the big issue here. We're all looking at Camp Fifteen Lens. This is twenty nine thousand nine by the time missile field next. It'll be twenty twenty. He's not the guy he was. So what guy will he be. I don't know but I do think this at nine hundred ninety million dollars which what is he is making next. Next year for the Carolina. Panthers is not Worth Carolina to at least talk to the new coach. Whoever it is in say for one more years worth at least waiting to see what kind of version of can we get back? I'm not sure he's out the door just yet. I do think it is fascinating. Second chapter to his career can be a reliable player in this league. I think so so. Is he ever going to be the guy that he was when he was. MVP season with fifteen and one. It's really hard to believe especially when he's coming off a foot surgery and hasn't played in close to eighteen. Months is five-time at his one hundred percent based on what we see him next. I don't know if there's anything new to say and Jason Garrett I think it'd be wins out in one playoff game each stay and everybody assumes it's Lincoln in Riley I mean when you talk to your sources around the league are their names we're not hearing is is again. I I assume if he can win out which is hard but I think he'll win that game in Philly. I do the eagles. Those were kind of a mess. And they're all banged up. Is there anything new on the cowboys front in your opinion. Here's the thing if they win that game against the Eagles and they go seven and nine and they get home playoff game. I and they beat the Vikings or they beat the forty niners anything short of a super bowl. I don't see how you can look to the fans after what's been said in the media and reading the tea leaves that he's back as coach. That's next year. So it's kind of an untenable situation for Garrett in less he actually does have them hoisting a Lombardi trophy which seemed very hard to believe right now the cowboys job becomes. I'm curious though because you've mentioned it all morning long con- that hey you go to maybe a Carolina or you go to a redskins or giants or wherever else these jobs Mar Jacksonville wherever these jobs might be opening up and you kind of blank slate with the cowboys you know. You're really the coach that Jerry Jones has picked in your owner Jerry Jones rule so does has Lincoln Riley who's coached. The last two heisman trophy winners in the last two number one overall picks is that his dream job to leave Oklahoma to go be under Jerry Jones owns. Maybe we haven't heard from Lincoln Riley side and I think he's going to have several suitors so. I'm not sure the cowboys job as wonderful as that started. Helmet isn't as amazing societies are. I'm not sure that job is what guys are leaving for as their number one destination in fact. I'm not sure there's a number one destination when all of these jobs are open unavailable and it's all said and done. I generally don't buy into rumors like this but let's just have fun for a second now. We both love Brady and ballot check back in Nineteen Years Bella. Check drafted one skill player. That's been a pro bowler. That's amazing. Gronk can't count Matt Slater. He's a special teams guy. So every great right dynasty and every Genius Elon. Musk a genius. But he's got a whole he's a little crazy belic genius. Bella checks genius. He's not great drafting kill people. He's shown in one thousand nine years not a specialty linebackers align outsourcing wide receivers. That are already in the NFL. Fine when you hear these rumors about Brady selling his house Brady going to Los Angeles. There's part of me that thinks Tom is going to look at Baltimore and Kansas City. They're not getting to the super bowl all and Tom's like I'm forty two. I got a place in La. I'm GONNA go give. The chargers are run. And I don't want I don't WanNa put you in a bad spot here but there is is part of me here. That thinks he's a little worn out from rookie. Receivers Fifth Round guys a quarterback Edelman they turn into a receiver. I don't think it's nuts that have brady got bounced. He'd sniffle little. Is that crazy. I don't think there's any doubt that Brady a little frustrated with the current roster and the situation and how these guys are playing at the skill positions and he's looking around and every other team has fourteen different receivers. Who couldn't afford the? He's throwing the undrafted guys who played quarterback last year. But I would say this. I'd be slow to break up the bell check in Brady thing and I would also be slow to not think that Bella checks a little frustrated with the lack of weapons. Also I think the Antonio Brown think didn't come necessarily from Tom Brady get rid of Antonio Brown around not necessarily thinking. It was from umbrella. Check either so I would be weird to say that. He's looking at Bella. Check and saying come on it's more. Hey what can we do to get with this group and get them there to the next level because yeah you saw what. He was saying on the sideline on Sunday night. Man Happy Vocal and visible as we've seen him since. Maybe he and Josh mcdaniels got in those things on the sidelines lines way back but the chargers deal. I wouldn't put them in another uniform just yet. I would not put him in another uniform. Yeah I would say let's wait it out and let's see what happens here win win or lose. I can't imagine brady saying okay. I'm so angry about the current Roger Situation that I'm going to open up the La chargers new stadium and be the a tenant to what the rams are building that can explore. Production deals with Mike Williams as my receive chargers roster serious experience decision to go maimon style with the rams. Okay well you are reporter. I'm just a guide. Give it away. It's FUN TO FODDER I. I don't think it's not ogden happened. I would say I would be wary of imagining Tom. Brady chargers uniform. No that's that's fair Enough Fox. NFL reporter our buddy on the NFL. Kickoff show on Sunday to we love him. Peter Schrager good talking to you. I will see you on Sunday and yes that Fox. NFL Kickoff show that we have fun. But so is the Saturday morning show which is kicking. Can Bud good stuff in the college. Football guys thank you. schrage shrugs noticing that to joy. You notice that things are working here at work. Who Point eight million viewers? You know what I'm rooting for Brady. Just signs with the chargers moved to Manhattan beach neighbors. Mostly listen. Well I can't have I I can't my agendas whole world guiding you and I think you in Tom Get along a little busy east prob. He'd probably has a few things to do Joy.

"Joy with the news. Well that's the news and thanks for stopping. Heard lie will be honest. I root for stories. I've said this before. Chaos is good for my business I love free agency I love the NBA free agency more than the regular season and in March the NFL free agency. The last couple of years has been fascinating. I love talking about where people go. It's like it's like people magazine if I liked Hollywood's gossip and I think it's fascinating with Cam Newton. They fired their head coach in Charlotte Carolina fires him and going to fire their GM reportedly chances are they'd move off Cam Newton but what I think is fascinating is what is the market for Cam Newton. I think the sport is moving away from I say Russell Westbrook Russell Westbrook the one thing the NBA is looking for from guards. He doesn't do shoot threes. Everything else. Russell Westbrook very good at Cam Newton. The one thing he doesn't do that everybody's looking forward is precision throwing sixty eight percent completion percentage and consistency consistency. He doesn't do it. It's going to be fascinating. What is cams value on the market if they trade him he's sixty eight fifty five and one? He completes fifty nine percent of his throws his passer ratings in the mid eighties. Hundred and eighty two touchdown. Two hundred eight picks seems distracted by the way a bunch of injuries. What is it bears? Well the bears right now. have an athletic quarterback who's inconsistent and not always accurate cam. Just a better version of that. You can talk yourself out of that very easy Denver. John elway likes big quarterbacks with big arms but they have drew lock he won last week. He's a second round pick. They're they're gonNA give drew lock a season to prove or disprove. He's the guy they're not gonNA bring in Cam over him. La chargers certainly possible. They have an Old UNATHLETIC quarterback. And they're moving to a new stadium and needed to sell tickets to cam sell tickets out west. I'm not sure he does too does does does because he's hope whereas came. We kind of know what he is. Also the chargers have four or five young players. They pay real soon own. They want a rookie quarterback deal for three years cam. You'RE GONNA pay eighteen million two year one then probably twenty four twenty six year. Two and three chargers have a lot of mouths to feed eight and a lot of great young players and they gotta clear out some cap space. And you can't do it with an expensive quarterback in the mid twenty s eventually so I am fascinated to watch. Listen I've I've never been a Westbrook Fan. I think the game moves away from him but he did find a very smart Byron. Houston cams going to find a buyer but I do think the market is shrinking on cam coming up well Blackman one of my favorite guests former. NFL are very very funny guy. He'll be joining us. Be sure to catch live additions of the heard. Weekdays at noon eastern nine. Am Pacific in our podcast. Hush money we're going to get you talking. We debate the uncomfortable questions about money and life then a celebrity judge joins us to decide. WHO's right? There's no such thing as strings free money. There are some archaic laws right. Now that it's traditions. That many pay women will do the reach. The fake reach you know. Money is is one of those things that people like to ignore. You can binge all the episodes now on apple podcasts. The IHEARTRADIO APP or wherever you get your podcasts. Well black men played in the NFL for a decade a super bowl champion the New York giants by the way Ron Rivera is out there. I think the New York giants or the perfect fit. He's worked with Dave gettleman. Jeon is a big deal. They've had to offensive coaches mcadoo. Shurmur have whiffed. It's time for a defensive guy. That's the side of the ball. They're going to get chase young with the number two pick. I think I think he works. I think Ron Rivera and respected. As a coach hundred percent backed by everybody just he admitted integrity Obviously it always helps you play the game. He's he's been around the game for thirty years. You know a respected position. Respect the court and respected everything. Everybody likes him. Everybody does yeah. And that's a big deal. Now now people have said I think giants is perfect. People have said Cleveland and I think he doesn't want to deal with the nonsense with Baker Mayfield. World wants a focused quarterback Matt Ryan in Atlanta. He would want giants. He's got Daniel Jones who appears to be quiet focused all football. I don't think he wants Baker stuff. Maybe maybe he doesn't you know I think he could handle it all. God Yes yes I mean I think you can handle it but he would go there and I think obviously New York would be the better option for him. I could make the argument in fact I was talking to. WHO said this yesterday? Trent dilfer said this he said what Baker Mayfield needs needs is a man a six four played in the game. Jack del Rio tight yes. Ron Rivera says Baker. Sit Down and be quiet and Baker. Kurt five eleven goes okay. Baker controls Freddie hundred percent. I said last year I was like he didn't even need a head. Coach team like like Baker could have just random plays himself but now we need to head coach. They need direct terms of having Freddie he he needs he does need that exactly. Bandini Eland Jack Del. Rio Man a grown man who says hey zip it up on dumb with you could more McCarthy man potentially he wouldn't be the first grown man I take Ron Rivera a really grown man. I think Jack del Rio will be my to Ron Rivera by one Jack. Del Rio's might too. That's my thought. Okay so pro. Football focus came out with some numbers in grades will blackmon WHO's also alliance Somalia or training to be training to be. That said it's not Brady. It's his weapons. Do you know in Nineteen nineteen years. Bill Belichick has drafted one pro bowler at wide receiver. Tight end running back. Is it possible is it. Yeah because everyone else was a free agent right so we're all banging on Brady. Can we now shift it and say maybe it's Bella Chat can't get him help you thought Muhammad's who was going to be big so tonight the I really did you know already. I think you know we can say health. He's not healthy right now but I thought he was going to be a huge acquisition for them and right now right. He's like he's holding the ball looking for some of the therapies. He's known for getting rid of the football. quit yes and right. Now he is going through. Progression twice is it possible. Thomas Mazey's aged has gotten a little rigid Russell. Wilson works with everybody immediately. Tom Seemingly works with nobody. It even took cattleman Ford items. Think maybe I need to wash the film film but I don't think anyone's getting open there are there are guys that are wide open. It's not raining. It's not a great receiving core but also Russell buys more time time so it's hard to cover somebody for four and a half seconds. You take that into account Russell taken off because when the Games online also is running for the first down if it's there when you watch Seattle Monday night will blackmon joining us in my take and I had. I don't do this. I'm not into predicting bowls but I watched it and I said and I said this last week can I say I said it before Monday night and I said it after Raven seahawks feels like the Super Bowl to me and I feel fairly comfortable saying it in. I would agree because right now. Those are the two teams have in the most fun by far. They just look like they're enjoying every moment. Why does that matter because when when you're a team that's having a lot of fun that means everyone everyone entire organization has bought into the mission is to what we're doing like every everyone is all in the giant team like that? Oh yeah tell me about well so basically actually I remember. We went to New Orleans demolished. I remember it well. We play in man. You know we got obliterated rated but we have guys in that team where we just finally got together customers each other out and it was like all right. Let's do this. Let's let's figure this out because we can still make this happen enhance down. That was just the most fun because guys were going to each other's house washing film guys always hanging out with each other guys. We're going to dinner. Guys were really invested in each other US players. It was almost like we were with. Our team is more than we were with our own spouses when we watched Seattle doing all those wide receiver. That's exactly so that takes time. So you think thinks Seattle and Baltimore feel like they bought in you. Know what's underrated was Seattle. So everybody's looking at Seattle early in the year when they got their ears boxed by the saints right they add Quadri. Marie digs clowney. was there but not quite as John. Schneider what no Seattle Adeyemi Big Flash Gordon cloudy and digs it. Safety fifty from Detroit. They give us a fifth rounder. Those are three playmakers in the enemy immediately digs for game immediately so they brought on three pro bowl level player right in who in the middle of a season one took a while to get going and I honestly think Seattle is a different team today than two months ago in Baltimore by the way was to into hadn't figured Out Their identity didn't couldn't be as aggressive as they wanted to so they went and got Marcus Peters right now okay. Now we can because the issue was when you think of Baltimore you'd Think L. Defense right historic historically you think of defense and it was the offense that was leading the charge in the beginning. Eventually defense started catching on right. They added Marcus. Peters an angry agree. Revenge Vindictive Marcus Peters ready to go and sure enough you know. The defense already had the players the the personnel to be a really good defense and they finally caught on so now they marry the two. And it's like it's the most dangerous team that I see in a long time. Okay Cam Newton. I think there's there's a market for him I don't know if it's a huge market but there there'll be a market. He's talented and by the way at this point. He's a bargain financially. He really is he. If you have of a team like you know you have a real roster and you've got an for a year to you WANNA win Games. Chicago feels like it would work. Is there a place you think he'd fit. Well when you say when he needs a roster Chicago does look really good. But I'm goff. I'M GONNA go crazy here. I'm going to say AH I like him. A New England if look at your face if say something I don't know I. This is what I thought I picked up wanting to go and want to early. preseason okay in the preseason I picked that they get their seventh win brady rise instead of sunset and I think Cam to New England and you know they just they. They know how to be innovative and they figure something out. I don't know I've thought about this. So there's been rumors Brady put a house up for sale. There've been rumors about Brady leaving those own. Adam schefter put those out the Adam's legit jet there's ramblings brady is hired hired of the offensive lack of skill people. That's why the chargers rumors come up because they've got a good tight end. They got good to backs receivers. They draft they draft players. There's for Kim. No over eighty brady doesn't make the playoffs in. Brady's got a house in ally which he does house in Palm Springs and says last year in. La WanNa go hang out family California then cam moves. That's not crazy at all. I don't think it's the craziest thing in the world to suggests that Tom Getting more into the entertainment. Business ends his career in Los Angeles. I don't think that's a reach. I think I think the chargers I think he would change the chargers culture has there been a franchise in your life that loses more games. They should win. The chargers Tom Tips. That scale you'd think so I think it's you know how it is is not just about athletic ability. He's a culture changer. Tom Watson who elevate everyone but he's not has elevated everyone's game thus far you know what's crazy though is that there tended to. I don't care they don't care. They beat teams. That weren't that good. They're still tending to. I'm not yeah yeah you know so. I'm not really panicking about them right now. By the way catch will will be on Fox sports radio Sunday mornings nine to eleven with Mike Harmon on Fox. Sports Radio Okay by the way. Let's.

"As I have Farrand I think change was appropriate to build things the way I want things to be built. Now I'm never a fan of firing coaches midseason I on a human level but I think it's a competitive thing here. They WANNA be available so so so let's say harbaugh was available. The college seasons all but override except for a bowl game so I think enjoy the do it for competitive reasons in the marketplace. Sure but let's keep it real these conversations that are made on that level start before any moves are made so like somebody has harbaugh's number. That's really the thing. Look some coaches it. Just because you know coaching fraternity won't have a conversation with you about taking a position until the position is open so if that is the case that's that's a fact like some people won't even take your phone call like I'm not going to talk to you about taking a job. That isn't vacant. I've heard about so if that's the situation then. That makes sense that they would do that. They have somebody. They are very interested in but John's like I'm not gonNA take that call while Armavir still has that job. I'm not GONNA do that. That is a thing. Maybe that's what happened overall. I just I mean obviously like they feel their season is over and they want to get ahead of it. I just don't like the idea of firing someone season that said clearly. He wants to make sweeping changes. So He's been actually a bit patient with the situation. It's usually when a new owner comes in or a new. GM is is. Everything's dramatic right away. He is a smart businessman so he has plans for the panthers. The panthers have a very loyal fan base very strong Family Charlotte Organization. Yeah so I do. I'm marriage to see what direction they go with all this. Because obviously you have Cam Newton element as well and Rivera's GonNa Lens in a great situation wherever where he goes because he's he's very well respected and he's a great coach very good very what's happened with Carolina is not on Ron Rivera. Sometimes you just have to come in in and make changes so delvin. Hodges one starting job for Mason Rudolph last week and he led the steelers to big twenty thirteen win over the browns. It was In I mean in my opinion was predictable. Soon as I saw that Freddie kitchen shared I knew it was going down. Mike Tomlin has announced that duck will be the steelers starting quarterback again again again this weekend against the cardinals to Gamer. He said he has a lot of confidence in the undrafted rookie. Who has won? Both of his starts and that he's been doing a great job of taking care of the football. Yeah that's that's key. Yeah they haven't been winning in spectacular fashion. Their defense is Great. And they score like one touchdown I mean. That's the key is their defense in the front. Seven of that defense plus Minka Fitzpatrick is scary. Great their defense. They've had major.

"And they had made the playoffs eight years earlier. Remember the Lou Pinella teams. They were pretty good. BROWNS are different. The browns are hideous and have been hideous forever last year was their big year they went seventy one were blown out four times and we're one and five against playoff teams. The Cleveland Browns have won eleven games <music> in four years this is this is different years ago. This is twenty years ago. I used to have a friend in Las Vegas. I'm not sure what happened. We were casual friends and he had a really tough life. His Dad ad was in and out of work and discussion one time a very vulnerable discussion and he talked about when is when his dad would even during the good times. You always had this thing in the back of your head. Are we going to have to move again. Because that's the life that was his reality moving around dad losing jobs even when you have a team as good as Cleveland and a roster is good the minute minute. There's a fisher the minute there's a loss oh my God back to back losses. The first thing you think of is this is our reality. We've got a move again. New England's the opposite trail at halftime of a super bowl. Oh we've been here before we come back and win these Atlanta Super Bowl Seattle super bowl. Throw a pick six in the super bowl. Okay Tom's done that before we win. These have a really bad Monday night football game against against the chiefs get blown up by thirty. We ended up that happened few years ago. We came back and won the Super Bowl in New England at works the opposite for the kid that is raised in a stable winning environment every time there's a little it'll fisher parents figure this out. "Even if I live for another thirty years, they won't. But if it happens, I don't care. How old I am. I'm going to insist medically burn down like eight cars on my street. Start throwing chairs all over the place. What would your response would it be? You go nuts. Would you miss? Joe? You know, I haven't let myself put myself into that shoes yet of what it would feel like when the Browns win Super Bowl. But I remember when I was twelve years old. I was a Packer fan growing up in Wisconsin. And Brett farve wins. They're Super Bowl ninety six. I think it was and it was like ten below zero in Wisconsin, I ran outside. I rip my shirt off as a twelve year old kid out around the street. So I'm sure it'd be something like that. It'd be like the JR Smith all over again. I wouldn't put my shirt on for me to give you a ring after all you done. Well, it makes me growing up in New York. Don Mattingly, the he retired. And then they started dynasty immediately. Derek jeeter gets there. The fans though, didn't forget Mattingly. He never got to the World Series. I feel like Browns fan at a similar situation. Played out you'd be just as beloved is all these guys that are winning titles of it ever happened. Because you were there the fans your synonymous with that the pay that led to the greatness in a way. There was a lot of pain. And hopefully, there's some greatness coming up. You know, Browns fans best. Oh, we're not. Yeah. When they win the Super Bowl. Now. The Browns fans are the best in the country. And they've shown me nothing, but love even through all those really hard times. And I'm forever grateful Brown city because I know what happened with the Cavs. And that was a nice bomb during the really dark ages for Cleveland's football team. But I remember back in the eighties. When it was Marty Schottenheimer there and Bernie coz are and that stadium was always talked about outside next to the Broncos as the loudest toughest place to play fans. Throw in batteries of John Elway. I mean, it has not been opportunity for that. They were getting wild even here in five early. They were going crazy. It's going to be bananas. They're opening day because they can feel that excitement building the off season last off-season everyone was excited because of what they did in the draft and you have this rookie. But you don't really know when the turnaround going to happen. You don't know how good the rookie is going to be. And so this year with the excitement building through the season's going to be crazy Beckham is purely trinity even on these more giant. Teams in recent year. He was the guy that made them prime time TV like he's gonna turn the Browns into an offense that we've never seen in clear. He's one of the icons of the NFL probably of all time and to be able to be part of this Brown's resurgent franchise and when they win the Super Bowl with him. I mean Agean the legacy that these guys confidence. At least you do remember LeBron with the heat is like we're not gonna win one title gonna win to maybe we can get back on a football head kind of excited to see what? Freddie kitchens is going to do with all of these pieces because it's not just oh back them. It's the running game. It's Jarvis Landry. It's in jokes. Like kind of what are you expecting to see out of this offense? It will from Mexico standpoint. Odell Beckham was sort of visiting link on that offense because they had Jarvis Landry. Who's more of your possession underneath type guy catches a lot of balls? But he's not the down the field threat. But now you have OB Jay Baker can throw it. He's got an arm..

"Joe cooking, and he put the weight back on what do you say? I mean is it even a possibility? But it never crossed your mind in the past twelve fifteen months, I would love to be part of a championship run. But if I had anything left in my knees, I would have played last year. Right. The reason I retired had nothing to do with me being sickle losing or sick of turnover or that I didn't love the game anymore. I love the game just as much when I walked out if not more than when I first want into the door in Cleveland in two thousand and seven I loved the locker room. I love the preparation everything about it was great. But when your body gives up on you, there's really nothing. Yeah. Minions easy. How surreal is it that the Browns are in some ways America's team right now. I mean, the Cowboys still have the title, but people this country is rooting for Cleveland. They've been rooting for Cleveland when they were coming off own sixteen. And now the bandwagon starting to a little uncomfortable with the people now jumping I get that listen, if you've been there you've been there now, suddenly everyone families if Japan. At the same thing with people on the jets Reagan. That'd be like stay off. You don't deserve. This. I earned this house. Real is it that the Browns get this much love now from the country the years of derision, I'm excited. The the Browns are sort of the center of the NFL universe right now. And hopefully for the future true. But it is funny because there is going to be some of that amongst fans like what will I went through the sixteen. I stuck with the team all of a sudden you're coming out of the woodwork now that they're good and they've got this fun team with all these great personalities. So I'm sure that's going to happen. Let's hope it happens because that means they've had agreed. Sees should be the bouncer. Happy to be the bathrobe few people out. "The around the NFL podcast is king in the north. Welcome to another Nisshin of the around the NFL podcast. My name is Dan Hansen. I'm joined a room filled with heroes. Happy heroes. Mark sesser, Chris Wesseling and Greg Rosenthal. What is up boys? Hey, and wow, Mark. Yes. Anthony, Cecil, not my middle name Edward Cecil. It is a new day. Because. Odell beckham. Is a member of the Cleveland Browns. Not only that is in the studio with this right now come on it and bring your heart of vibrant. And you knock off I would call her yard. Listen, this is a happy day in this in the studio specially for the long-suffering Brown fan long-suffering Jetson Ellie break it down like this. Three hundred twenty one days ago. The Browns drafted Baker Mayfield. I over. My jets Sam darnold. Yesterday. Odell Beckham the Browns lady on of the jets. It's happening my friend something's happened. I think if you believe in this concept of football gods that there's been a shakeup in the world of football heaven because there for a long standing time, whoever was running this show had a deep disdain for the two teams. You just mentioned in it seems to be turning a little bit. I like the one reaction for me. Personally. It's you know, it's I think it's a nice day in a way where you come to work. And like everyone's like, hey, man. How are you feeling like I'm so happy for you? It's like announce Witter it's like, I get it. Because you're you've followed a team for so long. It's been so rough and it's become almost like a part of your whole experience here. But I don't know how to describe it. It's for me, very bizarre to look at a roster that you know, we had a free agency show that west just called the Browns roster Super Bowl worthy. Which again, I would feel it have to be in the middle of the night in a dream to hear that happening. That's very crowded Super Bowl in the same sentence thing. That's happening now. They are the ones that broke the news to me that they were the fifth high most likely team to win the Super Bowl in Vegas. Right desert. People are saying that the desert people, not just the desert people get behind the Browns this country is and we've been kinda head of the curve on this in the in the sense that there has been a groundswell toward the Browns in this country and really NFL fans around the world is idea of getting behind the Browns a big part of it. I think was bigger Mayfield. And this idea that this team that went one and thirty one and own sixteen could turn it around. And I think hard knocks fed into that. And then what happened? What's a season got going bottomed out with you getting fired with the OC getting fired. And then there's this been this wave that's been building in kinda to me crested with this Odell Beckham trade and in which the giants and we'll get to the giants. And and this is a big show by the we're going to go through all day three of free agency. But also day one. The new league year. Happy new year everybody we're going to breakdown all the news that's going on. And also Joe Thomas who was on our round, the NFL Twitter show fish big fish earlier today. We don't do this often. But when when it's something that we like, and we want more people to see slash here. It we'll add this too. Well to the end of the show Joe Thomas sitting in with Greg market myself talking about the Browns and all this. "Welcome to Spain. And fits the podcast. Sometimes you find about out about dysfunction in championship culture, and it rocks your world, but other times, you can still find out about this function where it already exists, and you knew it existed, but just reading about it still shakes you to your core. That is where Cleveland Browns fans are right now. Spain and Fitz on ESPN radio the ESPN app. Siriusxm channel eighty Sarah. Spain Jason Fitz. Look, there's one reason everybody wants to talk about the Browns ad nauseam and has because there's this feeling of hope or around the quarterback situation. And there's this feeling that things have gotten better. But there's also this reminder that is much as we want to believe in the hype around Baker Mayfield in the future of the Browns. There is a level of dysfunction that has gotten the franchise to where it is right now Seth Wicker's from does a great job breaking it down. It's on the dot com right now. And when you read the inside story of the Cleveland Browns dysfunction is. Even worse to read than I thought, it would be in my mind yet, you know, I think talking about the dysfunction of the Browns was a bit like rubber necking a car crash over the last however long because it was apparent via their record the turnover at the coaching position. The the the flubs whether they be getting fined for texting on the sidelines or the amount of money that they owed coaches that they had let go mid contract all of it. Now, it feels like this is a particularly interesting dive into an organization because there is hope and because looking at having a resource like Baker Mayfield and looking at having a coach who managed despite all the overwhelming weight of failure. There to look competent to bring them victories to make good on the talent that they had all of those pieces then make this a hopeful time for Browns fans until you question whether or not they can really overcome. What is still a management and organizational? Head that has brought upon himself. And this franchise so much failure of late like has them still there. Right. And so if this what you and I have been talking about we were trying to figure out whether this was a good coaching position that people would want or not sure it looks like it draft picks, Baker, etc. But it's really still a poop Sunday with just a cherry on top until you can figure out whether that stench is gone and whether they've moved into a fully new era. Well, and I think the ownership portion of it is the most defeating portion of it because you we've joked before and really tried to educate people before you can really despise your team's coach your team's GM the players you cannot like your favorite your favorite teams quarterback. You can go across the board and be mad at any of these positions. Knowing full, well, there's an opportunity that it will change. You can't do anything about ownership being bad at their job. And that's what we what I think the deep dive Seth wicker Shim does such a nice job. And he's the guy that sort of broke into so much information around the patriots. And it was it was I opening. It's still I opening when you see what the has the ownership group of the Browns is incapable of doing and sort of the repetition that they go through the cycle. They go through of repeating their own mistakes to appoint that it falls on deaf ears. I mean culture has to be fixed. And I don't know how you fix a culture where the ownership assertive tone deaf to the issue and continues to make the same mistakes. Well, the thing is though fits if you look if you sort of read between the lines here, the aren't the exact same mistakes. What's what's continuous there? And what's consistent is that has them is not willing to see anything through long enough. He's willing to buy into a plan, but not patient enough to see if it pays off an I, of course, totally related when it got to the point where he said he was reaching out to other people who had helped turn around failure or had used rebuilds in in a in a beneficial land. One of them was the with the cubs when deal obscene came in. And and cubs fans knew there was going to be a rebuild. This Brown's Broncos get the Browns had a fourth down and a foot on the Broncos ten yard line. A first down ends the game. And I saw one of the worst in all my years watching football that might be one of the worst play calls. I've ever seen a against an eight-man front with Baker Mayfield under center. They turned around and try to hand off that lost three yards and watching the replay there. The Broncos didn't have anybody with their nose on the center immediate quarterback. Sneak a thousand times out of a thousand their works and gets a first down when you need four hundred foot, and yet they turned around and tried to hand off and were stopped. But now the Browns just stopped the Broncos on fourth and ten with a sack of case keenum the game is over in the Browns are gonna win seventeen to sixteen and that's I talked about regularly coaching. "But I do want to ask you about Louis Shawn McCoy because we are now about twenty four hours from the trade deadline. When he's been officially from concussion protocol is expected to play tonight and other teams have called the Buffalo Bills. And the bills have listened. The problem is the bills still view him as one of their best. If not their best player, he's got another year left in his contract. So if you're the Buffalo Bills, do you wanna go train the Shawn McCoy when he could be a guy who helps Josh Allen next year as will to enlist some team parts with what the bills believe is good pick. They're not going to trade them. And there's not been a team yet to step up to pay the bills are asking. And so right now, barring something changing, it looks unlikely that Leshan McCoy's gonna be dealt. Well, again, four o'clock eastern. That's the end of the league the business day tomorrow. We'll be here all day on NFL. I've watching who's going where and for how much. Our top story this afternoon. Cleveland is fired head coach Hugh Jackson won only three of forty games during his tenure as the Browns head coach. That wasn't the only change though Cleveland also parted ways with offense coordinator tied Haley. He was in his first year in that role with the team. Here's the statement for Brown's odor D And Jimmy has greatly. Appreciate whose commitment at the Cleveland Browns over the last two and a half years. We understand how critical this time period is the dealt in it in the development of our football team individually and collectively and believed it was in the organization's best interest to make the move at this time in order to maximize our opportunities the rest of the season the rounds will hold a press conference that four thirty eastern. But right now it's overreaction Monday. So I'll say this Cleveland should have made this decision after last season. Is this an overreaction this? This is not an overreaction for me. Because. As you move on. You got a new GM John Dorsey you went and found your quarterback of the future. This tenure Ceuta started new all the way around. You should have got a guy that you felt was there to Lee Baker Mayfield found somebody who had a different view a different structure to try to help this team be better. And when you stick with the oath thing win in two years you only win one game. When it's one in fifteen when you last quarterback to win a game is RG three. D you go Owen sixteen the next year coaches don't survive that coaches, don't get talked up to the new GM and may to state. And so for me, this is a decision that has set the Cleveland Browns bake yet again and just showed the ineptitude of this organization that we have seen year after year after year. This is another example of it. I'm never reaction for me. I agree with you Ryan. And I think the other aspect of it is is that when you have the new GM and you have the quarterback don't waste the year. I mean, just I don't know what else to say. Like we're talking about James Winston trying to figure out like, hey was that fifth year option? The right thing that jumps on you quickly in the NFL when you're trying to figure out if your quarterback complain or not don't waste a year. Which is what it feels like they've already done, you know, in terms of what this year is meant for. Baker mayfield. We're at the halfway point and the head coach and the offensive coordinator now gone. And if you make this decision after a game, so and it's not that anybody I think disagrees with you know, how how close were you after by the way one short one way more game. This this. Adam overreaction for you, not an overreaction. This is why they're in the spot. They're in because the new front office on into bring on a new coaching staff ownership stepped in the way, and so you mixed and matched a couple that wasn't going to get along. That was going to go to divorce court at some point in time. And you just happen to be today in October twenty ninth and it'd been building and building and building..

"That's one bit though to be totally honest with you take about the dysfunction. We're talking about here in all seriousness thing about this K you fire head coach Andrew offensive coordinator. I thought you're trying to make things better for your quarterback. Okay. So you fire Todd Haley who has been an offense coordinator with a lot of success in this league for a number of years. Okay. So you fire him further kitchens. Take sore. Freddie kitchens to my knowledge has never ever ever called plays the National Football League in. Oh. By the way, he worked for Todd. Haley. It's probably the only reason that foot is even in Cleveland, and then to to cut of make it even more interesting, and look I had played for him when he was a head coach and I've been around him when he was defense coordinator, I believe that Greg Williams a very good coach Gregg Williams was out of football not long ago because of the whole bounty scandal in north he know the head coach that is stabilizing your situation about how far we have come in this. I I mean, mean I'm being. just being honest about what the situation is in Cleveland. If this is what the stabilizing looks like think about how they must have felt like it was going. It is the most Cleveland Cleveland things with no disrespect to the Browns. I picked him to win eight slash nine games. Anyway, chevy. I do want to ask you this. Was there any as you were monitoring this any any thought that that Todd? Haley would at least stay that. Hugh Jackson would go baton. Hey, we would make it through this. Look, they obviously were uncomfortable with both men and it turned out. It was very bad week to be a head coach in Cleveland starting over Tyler. And now me man. Yeah. Huge action entirely the broadly. He's a bad time. It's an and Tim is right. I think this team has a real chance to get worse. The season before it gets better as real chance to get worse. And they're going to have to survive the season. But here's the upside to it, Tim. Well, they now have a new coaching staff in place and new hey, coach. New support Nater, and we'll see whether or not that has an impact the Browns once again, or I in the poop, they are the first team to be able to now go look and conduct a wide net for a why coaching search to try to find the guy that they failed to find over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. And so now, they can look in the college ranks, and they can go look at Lincoln Riley who does seem can join to the NFL right now or they can look at any. Hey, coach has been fired. They can talk to ever they want. They are the first and only team that changed. Hey, kosher. Well, that's all that's the upside. But yeah, but but no. That's all well and good. But you said it yourself over and over and over and over and over again that you've failed to find the right person at what point does the process flawed..

"Day. Another head coaching change in Cleveland, Wendy, next, Adam Schefter, Ryan Clark, and Tim halfback. The Cleveland Browns have fired head coach Hugh Jackson the Browns or two five and one this season. Doubling their win total from his first two seasons with the team Cleveland one in fifteen in who Jackson's first year, Owen sixteen last season education. The Browns have often fired their offensive coordinator Todd Haley, he was in his first year with the team. Cleveland struggled immensely under few Jackson winning just three of its forty games during his tenure. That's the worst win percentage for any team since the start of two thousand sixteen and some have regarded Jackson as an offense of guru with the Brown. Have averaged the fewest points and posted the lowest QBR since two thousand sixteen and had the worst turnover differential in that time wins thirty six losses and one tie. That's the net result few Jackson's tenure as head coach. Greg Williams will serve as a teams. Interim head coach Freddie kitchens will now step in as the offense coordinator since Todd. Haley has also gone in the Browns at will hold a news conference around four thirty eastern. But you, of course, the first to report this news. Well, this is a situation where I think this had been percolating within the building when John Dorsey took over along with Lonzo high Smith and Elliott Wolff in the front office. I think they were ready to make a coaching change at that point, Tom. But I think Jimmy and d has Lum the Browns owners wanted to keep you Jackson on give them a chance to work with the new front office and they've worked together. And I think what happened was this team grew increasingly concerned about the development of Baker Mayfield. And this is a team that basically has regressed they tied the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first game of the season. And then lost it fits Berg in decided fashion. Yesterday, we are aware of some of the dysfunction that went on amongst the coaches themselves were last week. Hugh Jackson came out and said he wanted to take over some of the play calling responsibilities to backtrack. But once he had said it it's. Clear what the dynamic was between. He and Todd Haley to very strong personalities who would depicted. So we'll and hard knocks the some where people got an idea of that relationship. And so the Cleveland Browns decided to make this change you bring up the record there. Wendy of Hugh Jackson, also on the road. Oh and twenty owned twenty how many head coaches would be allowed to coach when you're in twenty before the Browns made the move that they did today. And once again, the Cleveland Browns are situation where they fired another head coach to be paying his salary through the two thousand and nineteen season. And the statistical audit of the whole situation is Hugh Jackson is the sixth straight Browns. Head coach to be fired after the second gay season. Lebron leaving your team you get fired. Yeah. You You don't want don't to wanna play. hear the Browns the second time because somebody's head rolls after that. Right. Are you surprised at the timing of this decision at all you know, what I'm surprised that took this loan? I'm not surprised that they fired him at this juncture of the season. I mean, you're seeing this team move back. This is the team that had some promise when tyrod Taylor was the quarterback. Obviously, you get the the infusion of the energy in the play making Baker Mayfield, you expect this team to progress, and they just have it. And then when you see the infighting between head coach and offense coordinator now, it's ugly off from the field as well. And this was a move that was long overdue now John Dorsey and the has Heslin family can move on and try to find their quarterback. I mean, the pay coach of the future. But also somebody that's going to tutor and bring Baker Mayfield along. So he can beat the franchise quarterback. He was drafted to be. That's true. I don't know how this helps..

"Makes nine hundred thirty seven thousand dollars per game. It's like nine thirty seven, five hundred or something like that. He's essentially played a free game, which is worth a million dollars to him far. Three, seven weeks of the season Browns have overtime addiction. I'm going to do a bit on this later on, oh, but they haven't overtime addiction and they need an intervention because I don't care if you win or lose. I'm not saying you gotta win all these games. Just do it within the forty eight minutes. Like you have serious commitment issues. It make a decision. You're like, Joe who dated his wife for fourteen years before he proposed was like, Joe pistol get off the pot, man. What are you doing here? That's true. Is that true? Any before you got married? No, that's not factually accurate within it was a couple of years that we have in college, so the Browns, they lose another heartbreaker this time Jibril peppers fumbles the ball turns the ball over and then the buccaneers have an easy fifty. Nine hundred field goal to win in overtime, which. Right before they're about to kick that field goal to win. I tweeted out something like they're not gonna kick this field goal. They're going to snap it right to the kicker, and he's gonna punt it because I thought how improbable it would be that kicker after missing an extra point and a field goal already was going to be able to nail a fifty nine yard and had he missed the Browns would have only had to move like twenty yards in order to win this game. But I think this proves a point that we've been talking about a little bit as NFL teams and fans are getting really sick of these overtimes. And these ties that we're seeing more and more often, especially with the short and overtime and coaches are sick of ties. They hate them almost more than losing. So Dirk cutter. The head coach of the buccaneers said, I would rather lose this game than by. So he was like, screw it. I'm gonna kick this fifty nine yarder. I don't care that the chances of him making it are slim, and that wants the Browns, get it. They're probably gonna win this game because there was only like two minutes left and he went for it and, hey, the risk paid off. F- the kicker who cat cat and Zara who'd already missed two times in that game, much easier field goals, a whole living. All of a sudden he has a chance to save his career because he was probably going to be on the unemployment line. Eddie mistreat field goals in an overtime game. They're going to eliminate kicker soon w today than struggling this year. Oh, it's it has not added much value in now to the point and you gotta get Pat. McAfee back on air because it's been. It's been a tough year for I would like to hear his Nick, I'm interested. Why is it our perception, or are kickers actually struggling more this season than they have at any point up until now? I don't know what it is all that golf during training camp in Franken at during meetings that they can do because they don't do anything else with catching that was so well, let's talk a little bit more about the Browns games, a few, the Browns game, a few of the highlights here or lowlights the Browns offense scored zero points in the first half seventy four yards on offense. And they had only two points which was a safety on defense. On right now. It seems like the Browns have regressed since Baker came in and let the world on fire against the jets and then followed it up with another great performance. These struggle in the last couple of games and their offense really hasn't been able to get ending going in the first half Ian tire season. So hawk from your perspective, what is going on with the Browns offense? We probably should've kept Josh Gordon. I'm gonna put it out there like that. But players standpoint from a just a fear standpoint alone, I get the situation in again. I'm not saying that he's not better off New England. Obviously, he's doing well with the greatest quarterback of all time. I'm not saying that overtime. We're not going to be better off here in Cleveland with having. Finally, you know, cut the cord, but when you're looking at offense and we're just talking Xs and os, Josh Gordon's strikes fear in defense is that opens everything up. I think Antonio Calloway will get their. He's young..
