Fresh update on "broncos" discussed on CBS Sports Radio
"I think they're gonna explore every option possible. I'm told that a quarterback is still in the conversation. New general manager New head coach New System Aging quarterback although that quarterback is playing well That I'm not saying they're taking a quarterback. But people have this missed the fact that a quarterback is out of out of the conversation here. That's not what I'm talking. I think the Falcons are gonna look to do everything. Whether it's called pits. There's Penny Sewell what is one of the quarterbacks? Whether it depends potential to trade down. I think optimum for them would be to trade down with the Denver Broncos. They get a host of picks, and they would still get a premiere player in this year's draft, a player that could help them Mm hmm. So once you go, let's say that the four quarterbacks to take it in the first four picks who was the first non quarterback to go off the board. In that excuse me, And that's in that scenario. I think the Cincinnati Bangles If I've got to take pen a school, maybe they take hop it. I think there's a very, very slight chance that takes you Mark Chase. But you know you You drafted your franchise quarterback of the future Last year, the guys coming off the mass of the injury. Jonah Williams, who they selected with the 10th pick in the draft there 34 years ago, has never been able to stay healthy. And Rachel is a premier left tackle. Prospect. You take Jonah Williams. Maybe movements at the guard. Maybe you move in the center, The sign Riley Reef a new off season, but that was only for one year again. I mean, it makes the most sense. Select Penny school. Then again, he's a sensitive angle. So you never know. Maybe Joe Burrow once Ah, wide receiver, right, So Miami is going to probably take the best skill guy that's there. Whether it's Pitzer chase, right? Yeah. My information meeting up before the trade was Miami. There were people in the Miami front office who did not want to take an opt out player with that with that early selection, So the best player at number three was likely to be Jamaar Chase or Penny show, which is why they moved down the move back up. I'm told the player that they really wanted when they move back up is devoted to Smith. But I'm sure Kyle pitch will also enter into the conversation. If he's available when they're called to the clock at 61 of the Panthers do now because Ah lot of people had them circled his eye, either taking a quarterback or trading up to take a quarterback now with Sam Donaldson. Are they going? Offensive line where they're gonna go with that? I think I'm gonna take whatever top player available on their boy. When that when they're called to the clock, you know? Carolina with that trade is now in a situation where they couldn't wait for the draft to come to them. If Penny stools there, I think that's their guy. If Kyle pitches there, I think they jump all over. I think any of the three receivers to mark chased about to Smith, Jalen while will also be in the conversation. Outside outside shot at a big cornerback like Patrick Sartain. So I think the Panthers with the trade that they made, assuming they can turn Sam Donald's career round are in a very good position right now. Yeah. Would you think of that trade? I felt like the Jets that did relatively well or did well, considering there weren't a lot of teams at that point there were in on Donald and that they could You could pretend that they could keep Donald and Zach Wilson. That wasn't gonna happen. How do you like it from? From the Carolinas perspective. I think from all perspectives on paper now because it's only on paper. I think the Jets did well. I think Sam Donald did well, because it was time for changes senior for him, And I think potentially, you know, with Matt rule and with the offensive coaches that Carolina have. I think Carolina did well, because if there's a team that's gonna change, you know, basically resurrect I am Donald career. I would believe I have faith in that rule and his offensive coaching staff. So I think all the teams involved in the trade as well as the player. I think it's one of those things right now on paper anyway. Where it seems Everybody was the weather. There was no losers. Yeah, he's glad to see him go to Carolina. Maybe not a team like the Bears because, as you said, that rules a very good coach, and he set up to succeed being with the Panthers. All right, so we haven't mentioned Justin Fields yet, Tony. Um, we're I mean, you know, as far as talent, man, it is pro day He showed it. What? What are your sources telling you about where Justin Fields could end up? Well, you know, the Pro day workout. It's a perfect for Justin Fields. I I mean, just a field should should really stand out. It probably work out because all you're doing is slinging the ball around in shorts and t shirt and you're making all kinds of passes. They're worse than Mrs When I say Mrs. I mean, not nothing, not necessarily incomplete, but situations where receivers how to just backwards gets the ball leave their feet. But listen, you know if you follow me it all your read the stuff of pro football network. We have gone on record, saying back in November that there were people saying back then. That those in the league and decision makers were saying down the road. They believe Zach Welles would be a better better quarterback, then Justin Field and at the Senior Bowl I reported after speaking with one team. Then, when they broke down, just feels tape. He only looked off his primary target just seven times Now there were some people said, Well, that's all he was told to do it. Ohio State I Justin feels is a tremendous Physical quarterback, tremendous physical skills. He's got the size. He's got the arm strength. He's got the foot speed. He's been a winner and Ohio State, which he deserves to be applauded for the applauded for I think that you know, he's only gonna fit certain types of systems. I don't think he would be a good fit in a system will like the New York Jets, I think is a situation where you know he may need some hand holding. He may need. You know some extra coaching and development as far as Uh, seeing things on the field, you know, making quick decisions. Sometimes that comes sometimes that doesn't come, but still he's going to be a very early pick when people were pushing him down deep into the draft. 15 20. I never believed that Although I always believe that Zach Wilson would go ahead of him. Right. Agreed the Patriots. They're obviously they know they need a quarterback of the future. They're sitting in 15. Are you hearing that They're trying to trade up on D, Who could they be targeting? I mean, that's young's would be the perfect fit for them A lthough. You know when you When you look at the Patriots, any quarterback would fit them because they've done such a tremendous job developing quarterbacks everyone talks about Tom Brady was also Jacoby Percent. Also Jimi Grappa. Will you go back to that castle? I mean, there's a guy was late round pick the Patriots develop them. You stepped in when Brady was hurting and they trade him for I believe was the late first round pick someone to correct me on that. I don't know that they're really targeting one quarterback. I think of a quarterback starts the fall. They may make a move up to grab that quarterback, but I don't think they have there. That they're around there. There. There's set on moving up to get one particular signal caller. Mack Jones doesn't go three Could he slide potentially down into that range of the Patriots? Tony? I think if he doesn't go three, I think which I don't believe you should. I think he could slide. Does he slide to the Patriots? We'll have to see what happens. Couple. You know, there's some issues with Mack Jones that people have been talking about in the league. I think what will happen is if he slides outside the top 10. You may start to see teams want to move up whether it be the bears whether it be the Redskins, whether it be the Patriots of the Washington Washington football team. I apologize. It's a move up to get Mack Jones..

What i've been observing. The last few weeks is a lot of people crowding on ocean drive. Which is the main strip full of art deco hotels parallel to the beach. Veronica's is reporter with w. l. r. n. The public radio station for miami and south florida. It's been really crowded by for much of this time. It's been peaceful just a lot of people that perhaps would raise your eye brows because of the potential for the coronavirus to spread in fact. Bronco lives within walking distance of ocean drive. She says locals. Miami are mostly used to the partying. Everybody who lives in. Miami beach has to have a tolerance for tourism. Because that is the lifeline of the city and it's a city that welcomes but this year. Ronca says something changed. I have spoken to locals. Who felt that This is just it was too much. There have been businesses that shutdown that they didn't feel that they're patriots or the staff would be safe. Even businesses used to serving rowdy partners or saying what was going on in south beach was just too much for them one of them. The cleveland is a a party. At least 1 of Houston Texans QB Deshaun Watson’s accusers attempted to blackmail him
"Gonna move on briefly to addition watson because you know what we promised. We'll give you the shawn watson update every day and we will do that because it changes every day. What number we now here. A colonic sixteen. Yeah it is. What's fourteen lawsuits. Isn't it to. Because the time this thing drops people listen numbers rate in this situation. I think at this point where We're past the point of needing to get the data on the information now at true affords like we're at. Are you a predator or not zone. Like that's i don't know. I haven't read a the guy in the houston. Chronicle his name wilson yet. Yup does he still think sixteen are lining up to make a deal. How silly was that premise. That people still want to trade from no one would trade anything form. They wouldn't take him for nothing. The miami dolphins new york jets new england patriots niners broncos. None of them would take to shawn watson for nothing. They didn't win. Give you a thing for the shawn watson because this guy has a problem. He's not who we thought he was. I'm ready to jump to conclusions and say he was inappropriate with many many women and he had a fetish couldn't just be one or two. He wanted to do this to a number women because he probably enjoyed the challenge. Enjoyed the danger of it. All and today mike florio from pro football taco used to be a lawyer. He's got a piece saying what he would do if he you know because a lot of people ask them. What would you do if he hired you. He didn't hire florio. Had tony busby. Who's either a A lawyer or a the most incredible conman the most credible Shakedown artist of all time. Because he's the one who's updating every day with the number of masseuses who are charging accusing deshaun watson of inappropriate behavior. But but but two things two things here. He gives all this advice florio and it's reasonable. He said he'd sit down and try to get all the women or their representative in a room to make one big settlement trying to make it all. Go away with one big paycheck that they could and they clearly are looking for that because they're not having gone to the cops which brings me to point number two and end to the point where they try to basically extort him out of thirty one of them tried to extort him out of thirty grand in january. I believe i'm not sure that's extortion. If you're saying will agree not to charge you and these are hard working people at working class girls. Maybe who and by way are people like julia to cairo in on people like Niece smelly they waiting to see what race these women are. Because they haven't had much to say about this yet. But i assume they are. They going to wait and see what race they are and then they decide how they feel about it. Which is madness.

Chicago Bears get under cap while keeping Fuller
"Improved today. Free agency her I come. That's from Jared. Thank you, Jared. Then how did the bears keep Kyle Fuller today? How did they get under the cap is a good question because it was floated out earlier this morning that Kyle Fuller might all of a sudden become available on my goodness. I would do some backflips here in the studio. Not that I could. And not that I would really try. But mentally, you know, figuratively. Metaphorically. I would do backflips if the Broncos somehow could pull off a trade. Or acquisition of Kyle Fuller. It was floated out there that he might even become available for, like, 1/4 round pick. That was this morning. Of course, the new league here has started. Every team needs to be underneath the salary cap so somehow The Bears were able to get in there. But that does not mean he's not Possible to become available. There's there's still potential there, because again, the Bears might see some other players they want to get. They still have some roster holes. Call four based on where's contract situation is is that could save 11 million to the cap? If they moved on from Kyle Fuller? If they could somehow find a trade partner right there reconfigured that kind of stuff. You know that a leak that out that came out from the Chicago side of the house to get Kyle Fuller to take the team to take the The restructure. That's exactly what it was. It's negotiating through the media s O. That was. I don't know if that was a surprise to people or what? I've seen that tactic to play before, so I knew what itwas on def he had had been Let go. Yes, the Broncos would have been very interested. They would been all over that, however, you know, I mean, that's that's just It's Organization. Negotiating to the meeting happens all the time you get the leak. Well, I think I had to let him go. And that that make sure that the player gets the message like, Hey, we're cutting you if you don't You don't get your cap number down. We need it s It's really wanna call Fuller here. It's strong arming people. Yeah, I know. You know, I hear you. Um, Yeah, I would like you to butt on. That would've made a nice a nice trio corners. But, you know, I think they're looking for lower tier veteran guy to be some beam or death, like the dime corner. On. I think their top three this year is just probably going to be, uh, Darby Callahan. And he's saying Bassi question

"broncos" Discussed on Broncos Daily Podcast
"Factor that tips of scales. Well they had george in almost a week ago for an in person interview and if they had wanted to hire him they could have done that. They had interviewed several minority candidates. There were no rooney rule issues. They could have done a deal instantly if both sides were up for doing a deal but george now thoughtfully is in the process and how much how long. He's waited to choose the right opportunity. I also don't blame him to if he was intrigued by denver which he obviously is to kind of see that process through as well. I don't think the detroit is off the table at this point. They're not down the line. As far as i'm aware with any other general manager candidate at this point but a lot of it and it is you know. All arrows pointed this way since last weekend which was painting was gonna have his pick of the two nowadays interviewed in person with both of them. Everybody can sleep on it. And i would expect you're going to have some decisions here Shortly in the final thing. I have for you to that point. It seemed like there are a lot of not just here. But in other places some up and coming guys that maybe just hadn't gotten the chance and to your point about there not being that many openings really over multiple years but it's one of those things where with apologies to the john dory season jerry reese rick smith's to the world and thomas meteorology even. It's nice to see fresh blood. Getting a right sean. Mcvay wasn't on everyone's radar now. It's been one of the best coaches in football last couple years. We knew kyle shanahan was coming but look at what he's done with his arm and the best example probably matt leffler elps have aaron rodgers. But he's not as good a first. Two years is probably any coach ever. So it's think exciting for broncos country here in broncos sandra leaves. It should be that they're going to end up hiring a first time. Gm most likely that can really have a chance to make their name in the sleep. Well yeah i mean like. I said there's guys who have been dialed up for a long time and have the there's nothing on their resume. Nothing on paper that you would say. This guy's not ready now on the coaching side. I think it's a little different right now where there have been so many hires particularly young offensive coaches in recent years. You start ending up with a shorter and shorter list of guys. You feel like they. Are you know really really qualified To take head. Coaching jobs as a lot more. That goes into it than just having you know how long have you been an offensive coordinator and things like that. You know arthur. Smith's minna coordinator. For two years tennessee. He succeeded matt lafleur there. And now he's in all likelihood going to get one of these jobs but there's not a lot of you know can't miss this guy the hot candidate. He's absolutely going to get a job. I don't see a lot of those in the cycle. was on the gm side. I think there's a bunch of those guys who say yeah. I mean look at the finalists in in carolina. When you're talking about. You know. Scott fitter adam peters johnny awesome for like all those are iran polls. Those are all strong names that we've talked about same thing with the list in In denver george peyton kerry font no Champ kelly i mean all those guys are strong candidates. We expected to be in the mix again. They're looking in the right places and it seems like they've got a plan for how they move forward. It is interesting to vic. Fangio is going to be retained. His head coach and twenty twenty one is now. You're trying to marry a gm with coach. It's jagged transition. Those can create challenges vic has relationship champ kelly He does not my knowledge. Really have at least not working relationship with george. Vi payton or terry fonteneau. So you know for vick. John elway said he's going to have a voice in the process. What does vick wanna do you know how much of a voice does he have in the process. How comfortable issy our those guys going to be able to work together. That's where one of the traits that you have to look for in gm's is You need somebody who's going to be collaborative and certainly the history with peyton is strong in that regard. What time you talk about the bronx looking all the right places. I know i always look in the right place when i track you down for a minute to whether you're in town or nice enough to get some time on the phone. I know it's really busy. I imagine that fifty tax while we were talking to jump back to it and Hopefully when the broncos settle on this we'll circle back around you gotta brandon anytime thing. I'm going to post that here soon. We'll tag in. I appreciate it. Thank you so i think between the stuff i said and the stuff i shared those statements and then talking to people around the league and and then what you heard there from sarah. It seems like the broncos have a slam dunk higher and the fact that he has a six year deal means. They're going to give him time to to grow into the job and to let his work. Speak for itself over time and not rush on on making change i get all bets are off a new owner. Were to come in and decide that they didn't like where he was at and that'd be on the new owner to to make a move more of if britney boland's of running the team but i think that jordan will certainly have at least three of the six years on his contract to get the ship completely turned around and you're in that statement from payton that there's a reason he took this job he really likes this young roster and he really likes the opportunity to work with vic and he's reunited with pat shurmur a guy that he worked with for a number of years in minnesota and helped put pieces together for that offense. That shurmur called under mike zimmer. Alright tomorrow we will get more reaction to the george peyton news. I know i've been away for a couple of days in between Some stuff on the technical side and then it was my wife last week maternity leave. And then we're in the mountains Stepped away but blogs daily podcast back and raring to go here. And the george payton era and we'll see how he ends up putting a staff together and and how this all ends up coming together for the broncos so i appreciate listening. You'll get your george payton jersey. But hopefully you're as excited as it's seems like so many other people are that george. Peyton is the broncos new jet. I appreciate your listening. We'll catch you next time. On the broncos daily podcast..

Call denver our home. I can't wait to get to work. Go broncos so plenty of stuff there from payton. We're going to learn a little bit more about peyton and how. He sat around the league. Coming up with. Tom pella sarah. I actually conduct this interview. Tom this morning and then minutes later dealing with little kids in bath and screaming and then in the middle of bath. Time is when the news broke. That george is going to be george. Painting will be the broncos gm so it's not that it made my interview obsolete is that i had to tweak it a little bit and pull a couple things out but it also some stuff about league and he gave me some good stuff on peyton so i'll remind you before we hear it That this was right before the news came out about. George peyton also gonna hear from benjamin albright in just a minute but i talked to a bunch of people around the league on the personnel side. And then i talked to some coaches that have been around him some media and and then some people in the vikings building and and this is essentially what i got these very down to earth that he's not a guy that's going to go out of his way to be in the media. Meet the media. Talk with the media doesn't mean that he won't get to know some of us but that He's not looking for a microphone and camera at every turn. He's really respected across the league on the agent side. I talked to one agent. Who really really likes him. And so that's good to hear that he he's a guy that has heard in a statement from john he's worked on on kind of all sides of personnel and he's been with rick spielman a long time they were together. Miami also worked in chicago But he's not a guy that's trying to have everyone who he is. Let's pretend that things were normal and there was a nuggets game And there isn't a nuggets game. Let's say he was in town tomorrow. He took the job instead. He wouldn't be courtside at the nuggets game. That's not who he is. He's not looking to do that and he's a guy that win. Tough decisions need to be made. He doesn't make him hastily. I was told that he'll take a step back. He's measured and he will contemplate all angles of a situation and not just pull the trigger and and make a rash decision or uses. Let his emotions get the best of him and he's really good at not getting caught up in the moment i was told as well so Some good advice rather some good pieces of information on george. Peyton that now you know as well. So let's hear from benjamin albright. I because i talked to him just a little while ago about how this move came together for the broncos he's nfl insider koa and of course the coast of broncos country tonight and then after that we'll hear from tom palestinia who covers the entire league. But he's based in minnesota and knows george pretty well as well as anybody in the media does just about so We will hear from ben. First and then tom delessio. Here's my chat with benjamin alright. Well then the broncos have their man in george peyton you were in on it early I think i was right there with you that he was certainly the leader in the clubhouse even though conventional thinking in town might have been champ. Kelly checks the most boxes and and certainly chant does and i think will make a good gm at whatever point. He's given an opportunity but payton came came in the most qualified. And you find out when you do a little more digging. Or just connect all the dots that he had upwards of a dozen jobs that he's been linked to or offered that he hasn't taken and finally the broncos were the the right fit so tell me from where you're sitting how. How do you think it all came together. And why we're the broncos right fit for peyton and and vice versa. Well you situation came together During the interview process he was he was one of the top too early on I think they you.

"I'm alone with pete swing criminal cerro producing the operation believing good evening. J just about done with this wide ravens. Steelers games the ravens game. A lot closer. I think than we thought they might amex. Sorely comes in for g three touchdown but not able to stop the steelers at the sloppy game. Four turnovers combined between the two teams in the first quarter to each but the steelers move on ener still undefeated. Rg three four. I would say the past. Few years is certainly a guy that i always thought. Okay maybe if he got one more chance he could do something and this today has made me know for a fact that he cannot. He is one hundred percent a backup and done. And that's the extent of it. But it's better than what the broncos had to deal with and it's the chiefs opponent this week. The steelers as i mentioned undefeated football team. They'll play washington football team at home. The buffalo bills on sunday night football at cincinnati indianapolis in the net cleveland. So smells possible with cheese. We looked the ravens schedule could easily get the ten wins. I think we. I think we need to really start getting comfortable as a city with the fact that the chiefs are probably going to be playing fifteen in one because you look at the steelers scheduled. I need to lose to an afc team too. I mean it it it can't just be. Nfc team because the chiefs losses in the afc in the afc west so this may be scenario where the chiefs are having to play on wild card weekend when the best record we've seen in a very long time what's gonna happen is like last year. We're gonna pack the bars rooting for the bills. Some full bills. Let us down like they did last year and then took fitzpatrick fitzpatrick the dolphins To help us out. But that's probably what we're gonna be doing. Because that's a head to head contest between the chiefs and the steelers and it would be important. Here's any read from the day on the injuries before we look back at. The buccaneers game for sure had the stomach virus. And so we we sent him home there and then dorian Has an ankle sprain. he didn't praxiteles practice. That i shop. So you go pete. Pretty clean bill of health for the kansas city chiefs. Don't forget last week. Full participation. Everybody wednesday thursday and friday. So the onus not too worried about it's not a covert issue with relentless should be back. It's fine during oh daniel. That's kind of a wait and see but again. It's not a position that will impact the chiefs in my opinion. Yeah i mean he is just a special teams guy at this point. Not really making an impact on the defense. I would expect bishop brillant to be back. I found interesting in the injury report today for the chiefs. Lot of folks have been wondering if maybe martinez rankin could get in the mix. We have cited the protection issues. Both at arrowhead. Pride dot com podcasts. On sixteenth sports radio could rank and get in the mix. The chiefs activated him on november tenth and he appeared on the injury report today it was limited practice so he did practice but he popped up on the injury report with a knee issue which we don't know enough about to make assumptions. But that's what happened last year with patella injury. And so you just wonder what's going on with rank and you would like to see him practice fully by the end of the week just in case..

"A team with the franchise quarterback who is competing for a playoffs about. How would the nfl have handled that. And you know there's a. There's a good argument to be made that they wouldn't let one of those teams go out there without a quarterback they had an opportunity To to really make a case in point in example out of the denver broncos who are very likely out of the playoff. Who don't really have a big time quarterback and they could do that on the national stage and that's what the nfl did now on the other side. You could say well. The broncos broke the rules and the the nfl just a week ago had sent out a memo saying in all caps. You must wear masks at all times. In the broncos didn't follow those rules to the nfl said well. We're just gonna continue with your game since you don't have an outbreak. It's an interesting one for sure. All right so. This game was a trainwreck. A lot of respect for for kindle hinton and what he did see and. That's another one. That frustrates me. Because this guy never took a snap and practice was never took a scam practice six foot. He's getting attacked by one of the best defenses in the league as far as stopping the run and crowd scrimmage to me. I look at that again and say you're you're perfectly okay with a guy with no experience no a guy that can't probably change. Play at the line of scrimmage terminology. Maybe up in the air you know if he would have walked away with a bad injury or something again. I think a lot of broncos fans would have been re even more frustrated with the with the nfl. Yeah and that. That was my problem with this. Was the position that they put the broncos and not the broncos but specifically kendall hinton he was putting a terrible terrible and there was no way that he or the broncos. We're going to succeed in like you said if cam jordan pin and his ears back on against him you a very good new orleans saints defense going up against him and they did hit him hard if you time so. I'm really happy that he came out of this game without any injuries. What the nfl could have done is they could have at least given the broncos a day play. Play the game tonight. Give give kendall hinton one full practice with the team before going out there. i mean. Then you're not giving the broncos tentative advantage by you know allowing drew lock to come back and play for them but you're making it so at least this guy had some practice instill even would have been tough but then it's not totally unfair to a practice squad wide receiver. Who has to step in and play quarterback. Yeah it's a. It's a frustrating deal. But the broncos half to move on now zac and of course. We'll get you on friday to bust into this a little bit more but this season just feels foreign seven. I think we're talking a lot about the xs and os yesterday in at thirty one two three loss. But now you gotta turn around and go play kansas city. I guess if you're the broncos you look at this and say there's only one way to get back on the good side and that's fine away to upset the arguably the best team in football that that would be a way for drew lock to To get everyone happy with him if he goes into his hometown beats the chiefs and a tall as not only is it. of course the kansas city chiefs. They have tyreek go coming up. One of the best quarters. Ever and patrick mahomes had i quietly crazy as to say he's the first player now that had back to back to back three hundred plus yard games with thirty completion playing.

"Let's talk about. I think good news you just heard from garrett bowles who just re-signed with the broncos which maybe under the table a little bit this weekend. The broncos pulled that trigger. I don't know if you call it a gamble but garrett bowles has got to be pretty happy with this new deal. One of the highest paying left tax paid left. Tackle leave now. Oh he's thrilled and thanks for having me on the craziest thing about this is this story would have been national headlines and certainly what have dominated denver this weekend in pretty much every circumstance but one. But you're absolutely right. i mean what. What an incredible story and incredible turnaround for garrett bowles. Because they didn't just happen over a couple of years. He really dug himself a hole over the past three years. Where you have fans booing him. Nearly every single home game. You have john elway publicly calling him out last year. The broncos decline his fifth year option just earlier this year. And now he's the fourth highest payed left tackle in the nfl for the next four years with the broncos making seventeen million dollars a year really an incredible story and it. It's because he's been the best left tackle in the nfl for the first eleven games of the season. Okay so i i agree. It's an amazing story. Good for him. I love redemption stories. That's a sports is all about. Are you nervous at broncos country. Be a little nervous amine. Yes it gets first part of his career and if this year's any indication he's gonna be the best left tackle in the league perhaps But are we still a little nervous about going forward with garrett bowles with that left tackle spot here. I can't tell fans not to be nervous about that. Because it the sample size right is more concerning than would be He only has ten games of really good play of consistent. Good play under his belt from what we've seen so yeah. I think.

"Next michio only doing third downs. Then the next bit you do to bid with the reported coast wassaw coach talking to somebody else. When the play was be a call was doing anything now. What that is hilarious. Hard keys not hard. It's not hard in two minutes situation. But it is. I've been in. We called two minutes to quarterback. Because it's moving so fast. All you do is get a signal from the sideline and you call it. You don't look at the call sheet. You say you you moving. Everything is on the run. Saint gonna give you four to three. You know where to many. What a two means. What a three means you just know in. So i don't know how could he key. I i love paid money to death. I love him one of my buddies in this league alma. He put his name to that. I just don't know how paint was i. Don't know endorsing gazers. How did you put your name. That and i know pay archie them. Sit back and look at each other at thanksgiving probably was looking each other. You really signed off on that. I mean like come on. I've worked through so many emotions with adam gates like i'm over being angry at adam gates now like this is who he is. That's why i said for me. The most entertaining times on sundays or watching the post presser with those individuals. Matt nagy him. I mean you're going to get the best form of entertainment and now triple down. Just stay with them. I mean i don't want to change things up. I don't wanna win the game. Stay in a trevor lawrence race staying. Let him keep blundering games go zero and sixteen oh and sixteen howard how you want to phrase it and just get to the prize at the end of the rue whatever their prize is. Hopefully he will not be around the unwrapped. He can't be. there's no way man. Some of the weirdest things have gone on in the national football league in terms of retaining coaches in hiring coaches. So can we go back to some talk about break. Can we just let it out to you and our just talking about the fact that You know all these coaches. Yes and you said a lobby. There's five or six coaches. And i the rest of bombs. Let's talk about why you get hired. Because despotism is free ends is people. You look at the bob quinn situation. He hired matt patricia. After well documented coach call will comes off a nine seven season after nine seven season in the team going to the playoffs the two years previously. The you hire him. Because y'all used to drink coffee in the lounge together in new england blow zubin when i get hired. I'm bringing you on my apologies like you don't do that. You hired a people. Best fit for their bob. Quinn went on to talk about. They needed a leader. Who could beat the good teams in this league. because coach call will surely can't think what and they certainly weren't one of the good teams in the league at thirteen twenty nine one he's done. "Her hurts comes on the field carson. Wentz come off the field now. We can play eleven on eleven football or down in the red zone where we can get plus one in the quarterback run game again the opportunity to play eleven on eleven football but i will say this is a little off topic but the daniel jones injury you know with the giants now. Everybody in philadelphia is on the clock. Like if you can't win the division this year with daniel jones now hurtful. We'll see how long and you know the the washington football team with their quarterback situation. Dwayne haskins not playing and call allen getting hurt and now alex smith playing and then the cowboys. We all know if you can't win the division this year. You're on the clock because now everything has been served on a platter to you then. I know you told us what you think the eagles would do. What would you do if you have full autonomy how would you handle the carson wentz. Jalen hurts situation. Yeah there'd be no question carson wentz. It'd be my started and get him to play. Really good football. I think that carson wentz still has a high level talent in this league. I said this last week. J i think there's two really kind of groupings of quarterbacks in the nfl their stinkers and there's reactors some of the thinkers. Tom brady drew. Brees i think dak prescott is one of the better thinkers in the nfl. And then there's reactors and i think carson wentz is a reactor and there are some guys that are both. He's a really much very much. So he thinker before the snap but he's a reactor snap. I wouldn't sit him in the pocket a lot. I get him on the move tonnes somewhat like the tennessee. Titans with ryan tannehill and let his athleticism kind of mary their football team. And if you watch the game over the last two or three weeks for carson wentz you can. I can see that. There is the overwhelming evidence that he is scared to make mistakes right now that you can almost see the little angel and the devil kind of sitting on his shoulder. Don't don't turn the ball over. Don't be risky with the football. Just take the check down. Well that forces you to play cautious football that forces you to take a quarterback's stinger away. I would get him on the movie ton. I create a quick passing game that create easier throws i get my guys out in space mall sanders. I'd use jalen reagor completely differently. I think jalen rigors a true wide receiver in the nfl. not a gimmick or a gadget wide receiver. I would never sit him in the pocket especially in an offensive line. That's been absolutely decimated by injury so you can't coach talent. I know that that position and he's still has a ton of it. Indeed carson wentz a reactor could be a nuclear reactor because fans and philly about to go. Nuclear of this thing blows up for sure last thing. Our show began on august seventeenth and the single biggest moment from a social media perspective on the show. Hands down is this from dan. Orlovsky a couple of months ago. What you're about to hear was seen over one million times on our twitter feed over one million times. This has been viewed. This is dan ripping matt patricia. For essentially saying when he walked in detroit he had a lot of work to do to clean up the previous mess. How does dan know. Of course he was there. Listen to this to come in and say that you had a lot of work to do is completely false. It's a bunch of trash because that wasn't the case in detroit. We were a good football team. Matthew stafford was playing as good as he has in his career that was because of coach caldwell and an organization that was ascending building and another things culture was amazing. Coacher was fantastic. So you had a winning record three or four years. The culture was great. Your quarterback was playing really good football so for him to come in and say there was a lot of work. Done is a bunch of trash. Second of all you know. We'll coach caldwell wasn't a finger pointer. It's wrong it's false in for him to come to go. Say that after being ten and twenty five to say that to go. Well you know what before i got here. It was bad when me. Here's the thing coach. No it wasn't so make that one million one views it continues to tick up. So here's the deal. They fired him in general manager. Bob quinn over the weekend. Jim caldwell his predecessor. Dan thirty six and twenty eight three winning seasons to playoff appearances matt patricia. Thirteen in two thousand nine in one. Zero playoff appearances. What does the organization do next now. The organization has a lot of work to do. That's an accurate statement right now because in three years what was turning to becoming a consistent winner as been torn down. What do they do next. i'd say busy. The i think the next real move is making their decision on matthew stafford and matthews a friend of mine and i don't say these words lightly. I think it's time to move on from matthew stafford. I think that's justifiable on both parties. Because the lions are not just. Hey let's hire a coach and see if we could fix this away because matthews is going into believe which is going to be thirteenth season. Maybe his fourteenth season it did not work in detroit and so they've got to make the decision to move on from matthew stafford trade him and build for the future because it is now a rebuilt because everybody. That's on that football team player. Rise player wise is very much custom. Fit for what matt patricia wanted to do. So i think that's the next real decision that the lines organization needs to make the second thing is this. Don't fall in love with justice. Just an exodus an guy. I know everybody. Wants sean mcvay. He's a unicorn. You better go find a leader. Someone that has foresight. Some of that understands that city someone that understands the the frustration of that city in someone that can organize in galvanize and distribute distribute responsibility and the head coach has gotta bring somebody that's got great xs and os offensively. We are in an era of football that you need to be outstanding at it so hires somebody that has foresight at that position. They've gotta bring it offensive minded or great offensive line and offensive coordinator with them. Burn a good defensive coordinator but it needs to be a rebuild mode and that's where the lions are indeed a dozen seasons in the league next you'll will be year thirteen somewhere whether it's detroit or elsewhere. Dan really appreciate it. Thank you the key. I just for one minute. I got to give your opinion on stafford. Also big story. Percolating in detroit rumors rumors. Hey there is a college coach. Ann arbor. That's proven himself to be a really good coach in the nfl. You can connect the dots here if you want..

"I'm not sure that means probably means nothing but they are next of the bears. Want us to snap that. Five game losing streak. It's actually the one opponent of the other thirty one that certainly wants to see how understand this whether it's basketball or football on january six twenty nine thousand nine so just about two years ago less than two years. I january. Six twenty nine thousand nine. The bears lost a playoff game to the eagles on the infamous double doing field goal. You might remember that. Essentially where boom boom. There's had the hit. The upright hit. The crossbar didn't go through and their season was shot but the future was bright. Trubisky have gotten them through enough. They had this hot young coach. They had khalil. Mack is j's referenced. The bears defense. Don't worry about it. It's the first time we made the playoffs. I believe in about eight years. They had not made the playoffs in eight years. At that point things are looking up with the qb position. He'll get better because we've got a qb. Whisper as jay said with matt nagy and we got khalil mack. In less than two years. The building has imploded. How does that happen in less than two years because you go from january to september. That's a long time right. That's a long time for january to september the also the off season so now you wanna be smart and bright and all. I could do this with him. I could do that and nick. Just do what you did. They got you there the first time around. You don't need to reinvent the damn wheel all it's boring. These coaches a boring. They do the same things over and over. Yes sean. Payton wins a lot of games doing the same thing over and over bill ballot check wins a lot of games during the same thing over and over bill parcells. Yes he stuck in the stone ages. He want a lot of games doing everything over and over her. Just do the same thing that got you there. Why all of a sudden do you have to justify the number two pick. Because i'm an offense a so called guru expert quarterback guy you start listening to that and they started listening to remember always told you. There's only a handful of good coaches in the national football league. The rest of them do a trash. And i don't care what nobody say. A hand full of good coaches arrest of get rid of them still to come. The broncos got rid of them but not by their own volition a gigantic mile..

"To be with you. Both the operative number is three mitch. Trubisky fellas started his first game last night since week three He had three touchdowns kinda surprising head. Three turnovers not surprising. I want you to hear this from matt. Nagy two things. I want you to hear. I'm just gonna recite nagy statement here and you tell us if this tells you about a defeatist attitude. This is just one sentence just felt like they got after us the entire game from the first quarter until the very end. How much more time in the game could they possibly get after you from the first quarter until the very end mitchell trubisky could be the end of his tenure in chicago. Soon nick foles. Maybe next year is a backup. Got a lotta money tied up in him. Still moving forward as for nagy's future. The coach addressed it now. I'm not i. I just think that right now with our team that you know this is the stuff through the the season that you go through. And it's it's about fighting adversity. It's about building cautious and staying together. Obviously the last five weeks has been extremely difficult. it's not fun And and because we all wanna win and we know that lot of coachspeak there. I mean i did. It is but he did. He did this to himself There's no way inhale when you're three and regardless to what you feel about mitch trubisky as a starting quarterback that you should've ever turn and nick foles understand. You vouch for nick foles. You went out and got nick foles in a trade and you felt like you needed to justify that by going to him even though mitch trubisky had you at three zero at the time three and come comeback win against alliance you know. It wasn't wasn't aaron rodgers. He wasn't he was drew brees right. He wasn't russell wilson. He wasn't playing at that level. But you were three and old. There's no need to disrupt the team chemistry at that point in time had he all of a sudden lost two in a row in couple of turnovers in the tool that you lost. Now you look to. Nick foles because three games in a season if you wanted to play. Nick foles should've starting at the beginning of the year. Just because that was. Show a tit to begin with if your tent wants to play. Nick foles all alone. You should a did it. The beginning of the season. Why disrupt the team at three. Oh i'm gonna give myself a keystone johnson moment. A little pat the key mirror after that. Panther's game everybody. I remember because i remember Everybody's the bears tell you they're going to be good. I'm like all right there about the end up playing a lot of tough teams and yet their defense. If feels like your defense was so exceptional. It was keeping them involved in ballgames but obviously a lot of questions with the quarterback position. Obviously now losing five in a row look man is. This team was never what exactly they were key. And it's interesting to me. Matt nagy all. I've heard people talk about him. He is a quarterback guber quarterback right. Those are the words. I heard to describe matt. Nagy not yuki but other people in our profession experts. That's how he got the business. What are you supposed to do right. That's how i got the job. So i'm sitting here watching this quarterback. Nick foles gets inserted into the lineup questions. You're not giving your quarterback that you're drafted the extra attention. It's just. It's an absolute disaster. Ms he certainly dropped. The ball on. The quarterback situation is no question about it. And the reason. I say you don't return to nick foles at three and because you were winning games and whenever you wink it's heart is hailed to win games in the national football league. You only get sixteen of them. You had three in your back pocket So when you look at it that no matter how you're doing is ugly as the new england patriots. Offense look yesterday. Guess what they doin. They want one in they wan and they want. That's all that matters. Covers all the when you look at what he did. Go nick. foles is like okay. Nick foles won a game for you all right but you've lost five in a row. Now you lost five in a row so would hoping the prayer you inserted trubisky back into the lineup. When he should have never been taken out hoping that he could maybe ignite some energy into the offense. The offense was gonna be the same as it's always been but when you let the air out of the room by benching him to begin with people on the team other players on a defense aside they see that they see them quarterbacks in practice to in practices the easiest thing you've ever seen in the national football everybody's great in practice so i'm sure nick foles was spitting out and it was hitting everybody's a hands and it was perfect. But then when you go to the games you know who nick foles is. Nick foles is a quarterback that can hold it down for a couple of games. And that's it he's that manageable guy. Two three games get you over the hump if somebody gets hurt. But he's not the guy who you say. Well i'm benching j. wheel. I'm going to nick foles. Because he's better key one of my friends that play ball with his mom would always say this when she saw. Somebody really tall play basketball. But you're kind of a waste of tall joining or no reason a waste of tall right. That's what i want to say about their defense. It's a waste of a great defense. I mean granted their defenses game beaten down over this period of time. But if you had a serviceable quarterback i mean they could find themselves serviceable quarterback you could find yourselves. Potentially a wildcard opportunity in the super bowl opportune no matter how great no matter how great the defense are in these leagues if they on the field after straight. Three and outs and five outs an interception. They're going to be deflated. I mean that's just what it is if you think about how chicago made it to the super bowl under lovey smith. The defense was lights out in they had a serviceable guy. Rex rex ryan here. Race grossman rich. Right rex grossman reversible. Guys seemingly always been the plan in chicago dna. So why all of a sudden do you have to go to nick. Foles when the guy. You had emits. Trubisky was justice. Serviceable guy those back to justification. We went up to grab him and number two. We have to now try to justify who he is as a quarterback. So we're gonna throw the ball all over the lot no just hand the ball off run the ball dink and dunking literal defense. Win the game. Fuller baker mayfield. Let me ask both of you guys this question because you guys have been through the wringer of a season a couple seasons quick thing for mitch trubisky next up is the lions. "You don't miss a single episode and we're back on the falco. Podcast dave walker. We are looking at the stats and the rankings. For the players. In the upcoming falcons versus broncos game week nine the nfl the broncos. Three or four falcons two and six talk. Now about how the falcons offense is going to match up against this actually. Pretty good broncos defense These guys have played pretty well this year. They've got some really good players of the falcons do need to be a little bit concerned about. Let's dive into it Let's start with the pass rush because obviously it's all about the interior. It's about the trenches and right now the broncos have two guys with over five sacks on one side with five and a half sacks you've got former first round. pick bradley chubb. He is a guy that you know. I years showed some flashes. This is the year we're looks. Like that is finally coming to fruition. His third year in the league five and a half sacks he has been a bit of a game record for the broncos turning into the player that they hoped he would be on the other side melik read in his second. Year has five sacks He has he has been another player. That is helping to bolster this broncos defense. Here's the thing though. Those guys are going to be facing jake matthews and kill mcgarry and jake matthews right now even though his ranking is forty first of seventy four for tackles in the league his pass blocking grade is a seventy seven point nine so he's actually doing a fairly good job of keeping matt ryan clean and on the other side. Caleb gerry honestly is the bigger story. For this falcons offensive line He actually ranks higher. He's ranked thirty third of seventy four tackles in his second year. He has taken a big leap forward in year to year. One was a was difficult and granted. He missed a good bit of you. Know his Training camp With the heart surgery he had to have and it right now though he is just playing really good football especially the past several weeks him and chris lindstrom. The two first round picks from last year are really beginning to deliver on the potential that the falcons drafted them for so. These are the two guys that are going to go up against chubb and read a an honestly. This one's hard to call Chubb and reader are good pass rushers. At least they're showing that so far But mathewson mcgarry are also good pass blockers so this one feels a bit like a push now. The interior of the broncos defensive line is not quite as good In the middle you've got Deshaun williams who is a quality player. he is know one of those guys who's he's a little undersized to be sort of in those in the in the middle of that defensive line but he's playing well in his second year likewise Next to him dramont jones in his second year Just sort of a marginal player not really getting it. Done across the board former third round pick Mediocre in run defense and then the pass rush and finally demarcus walker and his fourth year. His first two years and league were look really promising. The last two have been less so he is still a really good run. Defender get a lot done in the pass rush so looking at the trenches we have to go. Look at the falcons offensive line on the interior Earlier chris'll instrument right guard has been playing fantastic football the past several weeks. He has been a considerable Joy to watch a in both pass blocking in the run game. He plays with a bit of an edge. we've missed on the falcons offensive line. Maybe arguably going back to the harvey doll days when hawley was last Wearing the black and red Next to him. Alex mack for as good as he has been his time atlanta This is one of his worst seasons at least by grade It actually is his worse season so far That's not to say that he's bad. He's ranked twenty second of thirty eight. He's got a sixty four point nine overall score which sorts a sort of puts in below average maybe slightly below average And honestly i think we see that in his level of play some of that honestly comes down to the fact that mac is really made is more of a you know a guy that likes to get out in the running game and to get to the second level in. that's not the kind of running game that dirt cutter is calling unfortunately And that's probably holding alex mack back from his his highest potential. It that in the is almost thirty. Five years old. He actually turns thirty five. this month. Clearly in the waning days of his career unfortunately You do have to wonder falcons maybe towards the end of the season. Start thinking about giving matt some snaps to see if he's going to be able to make some contributions and what he's gonna look like in into the future since they drafted him to be the heir-apparent matt Finally left guard still an issue. James carpenter still not good. He has been acceptable impasse blocking he's been pretty bad in run blocking And he's going to be two next year. I'll be surprised if he makes the roster next year right now. There's the falcons could look towards matt. Go no it's. They tried it in camp this year but apparently they don't wanna roll four with that. They're fine with what carpenters doing right. Now he is clearly the weakest link here. Don't be surprised. If the broncos try to run some stunts and to take advantage of carpenter and mac on the interior because matthews mcgarry are playing so well All in all though this this feels like a push the broncos could do some damage Matthews does occasionally give up the pressure on the edge and chubb is a player. That's playing really well right now. So again the trenches are going to be a big factor. Matt ryan for all the flack that he has gotten this year. He's actually on pace for a really really solid season. He just has the four interceptions which certainly falcon spans. Who don't like him more than happy to point out. But he's got twelve touchdowns Twenty four hundred yards on pace for almost for over forty nine hundred yards on the season twenty four touchdowns eight interceptions his rating of ninety seven. Point six is pretty good. His qbr from seventy five point ryan is having a good year. It may not be a stellar year. It may not put him in the top. Three or top four. But he's easily top ten quarterback right now so all of the screaming about finding another quarterback finding another quarterback. Honestly the with falcons is not matt ryan. He's playing good football and he's actually in playing better football as of late. The question is going to be. Who is he going to have to give the ball to. Julio jones for the first time in a long time did not show up on the injury report this week which is fantastic. News jones honestly is going to be key here because right now based on the injury report. It looks like calvin ridley with that foot. Injury is probably knocking to make the game. He hasn't practice yet..

"That any more times but ripping is someone who's been I just grew up in football I'm GONNA call him ripping until the end of time sticking with that I told you but I think he's an accurate I know the interceptions happened. But this was his first game ever and undrafted quarterback and he whipped a few insane throws tonight on the money and I do believe that he can hang around. On that front is a backup I, don't WanNa get overworked in that though it was a weird game and I agree with you in the sense that it's sort of like the fog of war. What are you pull from either team out of this I want to just say one thing Dan the reason I lost a little bit more faith than the jets was the idea that MCI Beckton was out there. So early after getting if you're not If, you're not healthy enough to start. Why are you going in a couple of plays after Egypt to me that just management of your players in your plan for them I. Don't know the answer to that I just want would like to. Things like Quinton Williams like when will you show up? He's had a good season but tonight not there like Chris Herndon. These guys are like the front office is picks it's not just it's easy to dump everything on Gays, but the thing is the gays has all these injuries around him to get his operating in the same defunct scenario that Sam journalists yet gazes creating some but it's the marriage between the whole thing. The broncos seems confused me too. But the broncos came in a super banged up team and got a more inspired performance I thought traveling across the country. With a third string undrafted quarterback and they didn't look. They didn't look that different to me the two quarterbacks and the two offenses I. I don't know it left. Me Confused more than with answers. I think Troy Aikman put well at the end of the game. He called Thursday nights slop right at. Six slop fest in those tend to go an hour longer than they should use afraid 'cause Fangio show is not the answer either I'm sorry Adam Gates is the number one guy that needs the canned in the head coaching job right now. But I don't I don't think much of funds either and I thought it was absurd. These two genius tacticians I don't know if you watch in the last minute of the game. The game is out of hand. It's A to score game. The jets left three timeouts after another fruitless possession and they start burning their timeouts and stopping. Denver from running out the clock and then Fangio for some reason on top of them is calling pass plays that leads to a quarterback Rypien. Taking too big shots I games over this is this is run out the clock stuff and the jets hit with a sixth personal foul. That's on coaching as well and at the end of the game. Joe Doesn't even shake hands with gays and he employs his players to run into the tunnel without even talking to the jets and I mean, that is sloppy. That's that's sloppy. The jets are a total mess with gaze at the controls but fangio having his quarterback throwing in that spot to try to run out the clock. I don't even know what it about it. Just I thought that was a great summation of what was going on in this Thursday night game, which was at least if nothing else their appoint scored in and there was a picnics and there was a long kick return and Jerry. Judy had the touchdown kit the catch. There were some plays but Yeah it's just in the BECKTON. It is insane and I know you've been a big fan of him. Margaret Big Fan of his potential and I've been hopeful but Joe Douglas. Coming out in the wash so far the moves that he made going into the season the seer the cornerback had one of the weirdest games ever where he was torched repeatedly he was non-competitive on the Judy, a touchdown which should have been interception but then he had a great like toe drags swag I N T, and that a pick six to get the jets back in the game but he stinks he was signed to be the number one cornerback. the center struggled Perryman who is supposed to replace Robbie Anderson Nowhere to be seen and MCI Becton. Like. If he is coming in on the fifth snap of the game right. then. He should have been starting but if he's not starting because he's injured. Then he should be playing. He's the big ticket. He's the big guy and for you to put him in harm's way, and then he leaves the game with Ria reactivation the shoulder injury it just shows from top to bottom what a mess the jets are so. You. Know I was happy Ricky that we did. The instagram. Live and you did the halftime show with me. That was nice fun. Yeah. Make sure you check that out. You can see those videos there at the ATM podcast on Instagram check that out and give us a follow but yeah I guess that's my final thoughts that darnold had a chance there to be interviewed by Colleen Wolf and he didn't get help them Chris earned herndon another guy that's m MIA some bummed about darnold not finding a way to win that. Game I'm bummed about their handling of MCI Becton. I'm bummed that the jets are a national punchline and if I'm the Broncos I'm happy I got a win here and yes good for despite the three interceptions by ripken and could have thrown four and I don't think he's special on any level nice job on a short week on the road to to make some throws there be competitive. So if you're a Broncos Fan, you get to enjoy W so good for you guys. I. Don't I..

"This. Melvin Gordon with a forty three yard touch see that's why sometimes yards per carry lies not a big day for Gordon before that. But all of a sudden, the finishes twenty three for one. Oh, seven and two touchdowns with that game clinching run for the broncos final score thirty seven. DENVER. broncos twenty eight New York jets of the jets had a twenty, eight, twenty, seven lead. Midway, through the fourth quarter but the broncos scored all points from that point onwards improved to one and three. Then hands here along with the Sizzler Mark Sizzler to talk about One of those games mark that just felt like it would never end its classic bad football game a between bad teams that is entertaining a but I just finished the night before watching Yankees Indians the longest nine inning game in the history of Major League Baseball in this game somehow felt longer I have to be honest and not just because the jets where the team that lost. It's The closest comparison I could come up with When it was, you know four or five minutes into the third quarter in everyone of my house was going to sleep was that it was kind of like we're on a really long airplane flight and you're stuck in the row behind to people that have just become friends and talking loudly, and they're gonNA talk for four and a half hours like it just felt like that a little bit to me. But I also think that there were it was sort of a microcosm. You tell me if you. If you agree with this, it felt like a microcosm of the jets fan experience not every. High and low possible. But the moment in the game where I, it could have gone down as one of the more crushing plot points in jets history were Sam darnold appear to go down with a collarbone injury or something that's and said you know if anyone used. By the way troy calm down with Dr Aikman in the future because you're messing with the hearts and minds of millions of people at home he did. You know and it's it's at that point. You had wonder if that were the end for Sam Darnold this season and with all the time in the organization and everything else in the coaching that we're seeing, and then he comes back and to me that when I was sitting there watching that I thought this is the perfect setup for Sam Darnold to have one of those games where he orchestrates a rather heroic and rare comeback for a team that's been hurting and it Kinda spoke to me. That it was everything around Sam darnold prevented that a little bit. It was a little bit of Broncos Frisky nece and it was a little bit of Sam Darnold all mixed into one. So there's more work to do in. Lost a little bit more confidence in the coaching staff tonight. But I, don't really well, I mean how much more can be why don't I just Dan to be honest I don't want to like I don't know if it's appropriate I think we all want anyone who watched the game. I don't WanNa be dropping like cameras all over the place, but Adam gays like seems wedded to. That, they were like nine for sixteen or even less on third downs he seems. Really, have a fetish for third and long and I don't know in in the NFL's twenty twenty where that fits and it's not a service to the rest of the players in the on that offense. Yeah. My point is I. Don't know how you come out of this game having less faith in the jets coaching 'cause I basically, this is another yet more confirmation as if who knows. What jets management and anything in that organization whether it's being done from a competent standpoint But you know you don't need more examples of why this is the wrong a regime to be uncharged. But yeah, seeing it over and over again now in primetime where everyone gets to have their chuckles on twitter for four hours but it doesn't change the fact that this has been going on. For a year and a half almost now where the it's very clear that gaze is not the guy for the team that he was the exact wrong guy to try to take Sam Darnold to the next level and they're not. They're not progressing in fact, it's going the other way and yeah, I guess my my thought about. This game and we're definitely don't worry broncos fans talk broncos to but my thought about darnold was. Again betrayed by. Poor play calling poor pass protection and some of that was injury related. With the jets at eight active offensive Lineman for this game all eight needed to be used or injuries all over the place. MCI Becton got reinjured and right tackle got injured. It was a total mess. A darnold needs to take some heat on this to on their last the last meaningful possession I texted you mark and also texted my dad like this was a big drive for. They had a chance down two points. To go down the field, kick a field goal win a game. And then Sam Darnold would get interviewed post game by Colleen Wolf. and Michael Irvin and the jets would have a win and it would still be. A terrible season and a a dead end situation for the franchise that they need to. Kinda. Hit The reboot button. But for one night in prime time they have a moment and instead they can't get it done and the and Darnold. darnold deserves blame for that. I think the thing was darnold is and you saw it on the scramble for the touchdown. There's the athleticism you saw toughness coming back from getting a shoulder driven into the turf but also even on that play, he holds the ball too long. He had a receiver flashed open. He takes that hit unnecessarily comes back in the game make some good throws A. When the when the chips were down on was time to go win a game. again, he's got off its wine. He doesn't have great weapons around, but he didn't get the job done. So you gotta like factor when they start to figure out the jets, what the organization needs to go do going forward and right now the only goal honestly in twenty twenty for the jets don't go on sixteen don't get darnold killed and let us get a one more full season of the QB before deciding what to do in the draft. They almost got him killed and darnold despite having. A you know a two, hundred fifty are passing day in nearly a hundred yards rushing still leaves more questions than answers and on the Brcko. I don't know what to take. I don't know what to take. These games like with the the niners is an example last two weeks with the giants and the jets I know before he started throwing the Interceptions Brett rippin was the story because he was, he did hit some receivers and made some plays competent. WHO's that rippin? Sticking by that but you know what? It's like how could you take anything? The jets don't have a don't have any pass rush they don't have anybody that can cover. I. Mean. If you are a barely competent NFL quarterback, you should be able to move the ball. Did you come out of this mark thinking that Brad Ribbon was a guy that is a potential answer or a quarterback controversy situation. I came out thinking that. In a in a Colt McCoy way. That he probably helped himself to be a backup for at least half a decade if not more because here's what I did see from and I will point out I think one of the best throws that I saw on this night with Sam Darnold, a whipping the ball to crowder to his left to crowder and then to Jeff's death Jeff Smith on a crossing route before he went down with that injury and I thought Sam Darnold is having a good evening here and that was the beginning and then the injury happened but two of the better throws I saw tonight two or three of them came from from. I really thought that he is. He's an here's what he is why I think he's in. On the tweet I tweeted out that he'll be around forever and what I mean by that is I think he has like a decade-long backup career because he's the son of coaching he's the son of NFL lineage in it's John elway who goes and gets Jim Kelly's lineage, and then he goes and gets mark rypien lineage. He's this nephew we all get to this point they couldn't have mentioned..

And this week the charters are playing the Broncos first time they play in this year. They play their AFC west rivals. The Broncos are coming off a bye week. Which of course, gives Denver an extra week to prepare for the chargers Broncos are three and six on the year one and three on the road as they come to town play the seven to chargers now at home and before we get into it breakdown this matchup. He did not practice did not participate. And that's a beautiful thing. Man seen a new thing next to. His name is exciting. So Joey Bosa was limited. He has a chance to play Sunday maybe outside chance but still a chance for Bosa to make his season premiere the Sunday against the Broncos the cornerback. Trevor Williams did not practice on Wednesday. He didn't play last week. Michael Davis took his spot and titan in Tonio gates did not practice on Wednesday either. So for the Broncos Darian Stewart who's been out a few weeks is back. He was a full go on Wednesday Joseph Jones, the inside linebacker, Bradley, Roby the corner, Royce Freeman the running back and Daesh on Hamilton the wide receiver were all limited. We'll get into a little bit on what Vance Joseph said about that group in who will play on Sunday Di Monte Thomas the safety did not practice and the inside linebacker Brandon Marshall did not practice. Either. So let's go ahead and get into it. We'll start with offense go onto defense. And I'll give you the result afterward and remember still undefeated on this podcast. So on offense starts, case keenum. Of course, they signed keenum in the off season was recently with the Vikings, but is currently showing signs of regression after's best season of his career just a year ago. But keenum struggles kind of falls at the feet of the offense coordinator, Bill muss grove. He's got a good running game. But he asked case keenum to do too much every week, and they are not utilizing him the way they should keenum is at his best when he's rolling off play action. He's ranked nine tires all time passer great on play action passes with an eighty seven point six..
