"Interesting Yeah. Yeah, I never thought that I would have to fear a sound Buddah right? Now. Just knocked with their ears plugged in is scared of everything. And then just be covered and head to toes you can't touch again. I'm. I'm just in my blanket fort forever. Amazing. And other theory can be explained by the Brock Inspector, which is an optical illusion wherein foggy conditions the sun is low behind a person hiking the mountains and the shadow created is magnified and cast opposite of the direction of the Sun showing the appearance of a tall shadow figure in front of you I mean never mistaken that as person before but. I guess in the right conditions. Yeah. When you're tired yeah and isolated and you start seeing yeah. If it's like the perfect storm of circumstances like as I could see that. Yeah. So whatever you WanNa believe these beings are not to be violent or have any bad intentions towards those they're watching and there haven't been any reports of attacks caused by them. So, still many have an unsettling feeling as their intimidating presence looms over them atop mountains simply observing and watching silently possibly serving as Guardian to nature or to the hikers and travelers that pass through their land. So that's all I, have for the dark watchers. Ending Gone Yeah. Well I guess I'm next. Okay so mine can get you from your home so We have to be afraid in our houses to yeah. Yes. I know I don't I don't answer the phone answer the door I'm like no. We're just reckless attacks. Do know. So I am the black-eyed, children. And these children seem like normal children they're usually ranging in age from six to sixteen years old until you realize that there is are completely blacked out. The legend of the black eyed kids or be K. comes from Abilene. Texas. Most sightings have been seen around Halloween. Theory at. Locating one of these children has been said to induce great fear and dread without understanding why they're oftentimes reported to be wearing old fashioned. Clothing in some have talent like feet. Wide. Thank you. Napoleon dynamite. They're usually have said to have been found around highways, streets and residential homes just waiting for their next victims unlike most urban legends, the origins that the black-eyed children legend is unknown it's pretty recent. The earliest remorse citing was by Brian Bethell Nineteen ninety-six although I'm sure that's not the first sighting. It's just the first reported That's all was sitting in his car writing a check in a movie theater parking lot as one does. Well. Ninety six. Nine Yeah Yeah people wrote checks all time. Thank. Thing Bethel new two boys who are on the other side of the window one appeared a little older than the other the older boy tapped on Bethel's window when he rolled down the window to see with the boys needed he overwhelming since the media soul racking fear that he could not understand and this is kind of like they induce the like paralyzing fear and you have no idea why? The older boy explained that he and his brother were wanting to watch a movie but had left their money at home. They asked him for ride home, which they said was not far. But BETHEL had been very uneasy about the fact that the movie that the boys had claimed they wanted to see was already on its last show and it was like the middle of the movie and he's like..

"We're going to move on. Well played coins in the bucket sponsored by Casino. I like that nice certainly works. Gotta take you got to take care of the sponsors were going. Go ahead. Take a break here. No, we're going to hold off a couple more interviews here from Brett McMillan down on pit road and Right. So we're going to go and take the brake, but we're not No more bricks. Okay? You You really want to take care of things here, but apparently we have done all of that. So that is very good Mark. Not the most scintillating race. I mean, when a guy leaves 163 of 200 laps that tells you about all you need to know, but a testament to how good that race team is for Chase Briscoe again. Early on, It looks like a couple of cars may have had something for him, but he just wore them out all night long. All afternoon. Then all night. Let's go back down to bet MacMillan here with Brandon Brown your first time around in the playoffs. So what's the experience like for you? I was disappointing, extremely disappointing, actually. Ah, definitely wanted to come out here and the goal was to get out and be on these guys butts and you know Not make any mistakes, but I decided on that final restart when I finally got some new tires to be here to make a mistake and hit that box. I just wish it wasn't you know 10 ft off that outside Wall. Give us a little more room up there, But I mean this Jagger construction car. I mean, it was. It was stout on. I got to think the guys back at the hard shoulder facing engines E CR. The power was fantastic. BMS built a great car just couldn't get that balance right and made too many mistakes. So definitely to correct that heading into Talladega and Charlotte if we want to get to that round of eight Right. Well, good luck down the road. We have a group of drivers stand here, so we'll just kind of make our way over here. We got the We got the three Toyota drivers and Austin cynical stand here. So we're going to go grab these guys. Whats the science behind bullying?

"Okay guys. I want to talk about bully. For. Me Back when I was in grade two, I was bullied. This one person made most of the air just miserable one day he just decided to torment me. Oh i. think he wanted to drive a wedge between me and a friend. The worst part was we used to be really good friends. We were like really really close and then he just. became. Randomly. evil. So. One day we were friends, and then the next day he just. Flip and he just came a jerk so. What's up with that? Like what do people just become bullies? And, it's not just me boiling is everywhere I looked into some of the statistics and it's not looking good for US guys. At least one in three students in Canada have reported being bullied recently and the rate of discrimination experienced by students who identifies lgbtq plus is three times higher than heterosexual students and girls are more likely to be bullied on the Internet them boys. So, put that guys. and. The worst part is that this stuff doesn't end as you grow up. Forty percent of Canadian workers experienced bullying on a weekly basis. But why like? Why are these numbers so hot? Is there some sort of evolutionary societal biological purpose to it? Is it something in our brains something that we've been born with. What is the scientific reason for bullying? I'm Kai. This is my podcast I asked why there are just so many good questions other than you. Really WanNA. Get Answer. What is deja-vu? How'd you songs get stuck in your head? Water animals. Sing. The dinosaurs died how did other animal survive? Why Space Dark? And what is the science of bullying? So I'm assuming all of you've been bullied at least once in your life. Yes sir. These are my friends. Piper Fin Cayden and Zoe were all kids here and we all have dealt with it at some point in our lives. For. Me Oftentimes, I feel like my friends needed knee for their entertainment. It would be weird because if they would be like teasing me or something and I would be like Oh. But these are my friends. These are Nice people why are they? Bullying me. For me. It's sort of something that I'm like currently experiencing is just someone at my school in my class who like they'll just jokingly show me and I think they take it too far. Sometimes, they just don't really know when to stop I. Just think like for me there is just like the little things that kind of like build up like there's this one person who Kana criticizes me like about. Maybe my grades or something like that and say that I'm not doing well, just like making up stuff which I think is very nice. Young guys. It's not a good feeling at all. It sucks you know and really bad blink can actually affect your life for a really longtime i. took a listen through some recent CBC stores on bullying and made me really really sad to hear from grownups who are still haunted by these heroin blink experiences that they had when they were young. I was a small kid. And being a small kid I was. Bullied a lot I was an easy target. I. Constantly get pushed around punched kicked bookstore on the hallway floor. I changed schools a couple of times about bullying followed me and I dropped out screwy sixty years old. But three of them after school would pin me down on the ground and push me down and hit me and kick me. I really became a shell of who I probably could have been. I was quite an emotional rack. I think it's something you just never really recover from. So I, think you know in a way we're playing with fire when we think that this is just something that everybody goes through or many people go through and there are consequences. If bullying is so painful and so hurtful for so many people why would anybody ever do it ever? Found? Someone why Could help me get to the bottom of this. Alot. This is Tony Vote. In the Department of Child, new studies at Brock University. He's a developmental psychologist. He spent a lot of time studying bullying his approach is multidisciplinary. So he thinks about it from an evolutionary biological and historical perspective. Even as his own laboratory studies it. So I am here to figure out what he's learned. So. What got you interested in bullying I was fully PRETTY UNORIGINAL I know. It's it's good motivation. Alone. Bullying is probably ubiquitous amongst life itself. I mean, you need that the pecking order and checking. The dominance hierarchy in wolves. Chimpanzees. Could also probably by many definitions seat amongst trees that compete with each other. Hold up hold up. So even trees are blowing. Each other is nothing sacred people. Some Bushes will inject toxins into more developing species beside them. So the strategy of being. To weaker individuals is for better for worse part of evolutionary strategy in general.

Why Mitch McConnell is unstoppable

"The reality is in the Senate right now, it takes just simple majority to advance any presidential nominee Paul Kane is the senior congressional correspondent for the post whether it is to some random commission overseeing the Great Lakes or the Supreme Court of the United States of America, and that has left the minority party with very few options. The reality is that there's not a whole they can do. and. What are some of these theories that we have heard of that Democrats could do or that people think the Democrats could do right now oh, there's this thought of if you impeached someone anyone bill bar or in the trump again and sent to that resolution across the capital that it would instantly stop all other action and forced them to hold an impeachment trial. You know I got an email from a reader asking about they could just deny unanimous consent blocking unanimous consent is something that blocks the action from taking place and basically would make the voting process go much more slowly. Yeah. But there are provisions. Already in line for how to deal with those things, you file something called a cloture motion. That's the that's the way you blocked a filibuster defeat filibuster and yes, it'll take three days to overcome that process but think of it this way if there really were away for this minority party to block this Supreme Court nominee then Mitch McConnell would have thought of it in the eight years that he served as minority leader and was considered the obstructionist in chief. He was considered the greatest structure in the history of the Senate blocking Brock Obama at every possible way if there were ways for digital block Supreme Court. Nominations of Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan from the minority position McConnell would have done it but he couldn't do it, and then I've heard these ideas that potentially if Democrats were to win control of the Senate in November, and if there were to be a Democratic president that there's this idea, you could pack the court afterward, you could just change the number of justices that there are on the Supreme Court and increase them. So you could have two more. Democrat appointed justices or you could have four more. Well, that is a the that is something that can legitimately be done in the legislative process. There was no. Foundation in the constitution that set the number of surpreme. Court justices at nine. It started with six justices the chief and five associate justices an grew over the years and you know to be sure you know the considered the greatest Democratic president of all Franklin Delano Roosevelt tried in the nineteen thirties to pack the court and very infamous way and eventually was shot down and the reality is if Democrats were to go through the couple year process of adding justices to spring court that would immediately be met in return with Republicans. Next time they have the power and you know we just would go back and forth by. In twenty years, we might have twenty one justices and also probably need support from actual democratic leadership, and this seems like something that Congressional leadership isn't that interested in something that Joe Biden has said that he straight up doesn't think should happen Yeah Biden had got a little bit cagey the other night when he was asked about it in a local interview I think it was in Wisconsin and he basically said that he didn't want to answer the question because of the answers the question. Then that's GonNa change the. Discussion and what Democrats are trying to do right now is to avoid these. These are processed fights. I know that there is a bigger bigger goal at hand here in terms of overall policy and how that policy is reviewed at the supreme. Court. But most of the public tunes this stuff out because they, they hear things about over Republicans are being hypocrites and well like eighty nine percent or more of the public says, yeah, they're all hypocrites no big deal and they really want to try and focus this fight politically. On, what the impact of trading in Ruth? Bader GINSBURG. The most iconic liberal justice of the last twenty five years for a very staunch conservative jurist like amy, Coney Barrett like that is the biggest ideological jump that the court would have seen since thurgood Marshall was replaced by Clarence Thomas They WanNa make this fight politically not about these seemingly random efforts to put more justices on the Supreme Court and they want this fight to be about the impact on the affordable care act on voting rights on clean air clean. Labor Day: Labor History in Chicago

"Labor Day on Monday, and so we have Ah, incredible rich history here in both Illinois and in the city of Chicago. Regarding the labor movement on Labor Day. In general, thier monologist dot com is a website Max colonel who has studied cities in history, and all that really cool stuff is here to reminisce and talk about the labor history in Chicago and beyond. Max. Ah, let's Ah let's let's talk about Ah The blue color sort of mentality that we have in this city eyes that tied to the labour movement, you think? Yeah mean absolutely. I think that you know, you think about whether it's images presented in film. It's the Blues brothers, which obviously they're musicians. They do They do reference their union card. That will not be a one point them. Yeah, they D'oh They famously on wonderfully, You know, I think it is. It's a It's a part of. It's a part of the city's identity. And you know, I I e having only been been in here since the mid nineties. You know, a lot of that has changed. Fairly quickly. Do you think about what constitutes a blue collar job? Right? You go down to the Southeast side to see the U. S X Steel. You know they're still re working on that site. But there's no there's no labours. It's a park. Yes, yeah, Among other things you think of what constitutes A blue collar job. You think of kind of the concentration of steps over, um, near last Westside like Teamster City. Um and kind of like, where is those where those people laboring? You think about the actual numbers and they're they're fairly small. Um, you know you you still you still have, you know certain? Industries in the city. You know, I always tell people sick I owe still big bass for food production produces more pork rinds, and I didn't know that I didn't know that that's amazing. Yeah, they're they're still there Still the these moments. I mean, you know, you think of other things, which is a variety of trade agreements, etcetera, you know, to buy goodbye volume candy industry, right? Ferrara. Rocks, but they blow up the Brocks factory for one of the Batman am so some of those things that you consider candy, working blue collar and definitely were people working with their hands. But you know, the other kind of The other Those other jobs. A lot of them just changed. I think this will be a challenge for labor here. Going forward labor unions and see already you're you're you're not. You're not, you know, leaping out Citing necessarily been this government lack of intervention. Too much intervention. But you know, he going up against algorithms. You know what do you you're going up against APS. Yeah, that's that's the kind of That's the kind of harder endure another show, But I think that but I think it is. You know people were we seek it out. I mean, people wanted, you know, they want to experience that kind of That blue collar kind of experience, And I think it's hard. I mean, I know it's harder to find. Yeah, you know, you think about kind of whether its associations with people going to a tavern or whatever, you know 2nd 3rd shifters. I mean, there's a lot of There's a lot of change, even the kind of those the social spaces right now you're more likely to find expensive tasting menus on up top bar That's open. So I think there's that there's that kind of shift in the change and declined those in those those professions or they or they happen. They're kind of their hidden from us, right? I always tell people I play some fascinating which you asked me kind of that question about there's always something new. I had never walked on foot around Elk Grove Village. Some people listening probably know that L grow village has one of the world's largest industrial parks. Mathis, right, so there's work going on out there near O'Hare support. Various interested, but you know, we don't really see it. You know, it's not, you know. Men and women out there. You know whether it's your kind of performing manual labor, physical labor, you know, I think the fabric of the city has changed much as well. You think about you know, over a third of the city is Hispanic, Latino land Next, you know that that work has changed a lot. To you know, you might think of blue collar workers being landscapers gardeners. Um, yeah, I know people crave it. I mean, people, you know, it's such a big thing. And you know this so well to three movies to song. Um And you know some industries. It's still their food processing and a few other places, but, you know Now Steele still encounter people I've still encounter people who want to want to see a stillness still now something like that. It's like, well, that's that's really hard to find in the city limits. Um, but there certainly people You know those people working his people? There's people out there doing all these jobs and I think of wealth building trades, You know. So those air still really, um Those were still really well, boss places where he might be worked like that. But those things that you think of, you know, if you know more stockyards. Steel mills is kind of you know, you can sort of see some of the railroad stuff if you go down to South Lumber Street after from railroad. Yeah, Maybe that might be trash passing. So don't Please don't want anyone thinking, right? But you're certainly you know, you could get a little sense of that when you know when I was in Union station two days ago, jumping on the Amtrak cone off one and try again. Young. You see, you know some people people doing track work inside the station and things like that, so it's still It's still there. There's just a lot less of it. Yeah, it's true. It's true, but I mean, I think to the rest of the rest of the world. Chicago has a very, very blue collar. You know? Ah, representation, You know, I think it's a date. I think people outside of Chicago think of us is a very blue collar city. Yeah. Oh, absolutely. I think there's that people identify. It was like they had identified with the You know the blues or kind of Maureen. I'm kind of more contemporary, you know, Tanya, or common Um, and that kind of that's that's really part of the city's fabric.

Automating Patient Outreach with Ricky Hsu

"Welcome back to the outcomes. Rocket saw Marquez here such a privilege to have you tune in again today have the privilege of hosting Ricky Su. He is the CO founder and CEO. At provia health. He's a licensed pharmacist in California, an extremely passionate about technology and healthcare prior to CO founding PROVIA. Health Ricky managed multiple. Pharmacy Care Teams at specialty pharmacies, and at two of California's largest medical groups. The majority of his healthcare career has been focused on creating innovative care strategies for low income populations with complex care needs. Ricky's experience at the ground level and managed care had a huge impact and allowed him to identify major pinpoints when providing care to. It was here that gravy health mission and blueprints were drawn and day we get to dive into the work that he and his Co founder William and team are doing to the plainfield and around this area, and so with that I wanNA welcome to the podcast ricky. So glad you could join us today I saw pleasure to be here. Thanks for inviting me absolutely my friend and so first of all, before we dive into Provia health and Iris you. Know the product, the digital brock you guys have I WANNA learn a little bit more about you and what inspires your work in healthcare? Yes. I've actually always been really proud of that in healthcare. You can make a great living while helping people get better. So there's few industries that you can do that and unfortunate enough that healthcare is one of the right. So the pharmacist I used to help one person at a time at the counter and then an. Elvis phone or so on and when I answered managed care I realized that the decisions that I make in managed care canal sites, hundreds or thousands of people, and so now with pro hells on constantly you're gonNA ask myself you know how can we build something great and how can we build something? They'll end up positively impacting as many people's possible by especially those in underserved population. So that's what really allows you to enjoy the work that I'm doing. Right now love it. Yeah. I. Mean It's awesome and with digital health tools available today and you know some ingenuity and practicality and a little know how you could get really far in scaling what you could do one on ones population. So tell us a little bit more about Provia Health Ricky and you know how the businesses adding value to the healthcare ecosystem. Yeah. So appropriate health goal is to help Chelsea companies save time and resources by fully automating their. retried. So we do that by incorporating an intelligent chat lot with conversational artificial intelligence on the fronted, and then we pair that to a patient assessment platform that can automatically understand your health situation through emr records, and you know Ziv mentioned before our chat bots name is Iris stands for intelligent response and information system it automatically screens and assesses the patients to find out which services they need, and then we provide a platform where the providers can then monitor and fall in love with the patients all in one place. So Saves Lot I'm and makes it easier. You can imagine if you had a super well trained healthcare worker whether it's a nurse, a farm technician that's put. In charge of recounts your patients and now all of a sudden, they can read every patient's records in your entire system reach out talk to them simultaneously ask the right questions it's a craft service. Each one needs right and compare. That's right now where most of the staff in this area are pretty much doing it manually swamped and then can barely reach maybe yes you percentage of the entire population that they're in charge of it. So just imagine how many more patients will get the help they desperately needed if we can automate this entire process. Yeah nods definitely an opportunity. So are you guys mainly interfacing? You said healthcare companies? So is it mainly employers? Is the yeah so It's it's a beep business model and our main clientele is payers providers and. Okay. Airs providers and pharmacies. So you have these different stakeholders using the system how are you helping each so walk us through that you know how are you helping the payer? Are you helping the provider and Harry out so pharmacist the payer and the provider twined by both of them are very much involved in this whole patient outreach where they have to a proactive and whether it's chronic care management or its notice enabling services and reaching out to make sure that the patients get what they need. There's a lot of food insecurities right now, for example, homelessness or mental health and depression and those areas. So there's a lot of enabling services out there there are available to these patients, but they're not necessarily getting access and getting referred to the right proper care that they need at any given time. So it's important for the providers and the payers to be able to identify the patients quickly right screen them, risk, assess them, and get them quickly out to these services. So that, you know they prevent the deterioration, their care

"Okay, don't shoot the Messenger on this one. Has just come out with Turkey dinner candy corn. So it's slipped candy corn, the normal candy corn that we know. It's a mixed bag with six different flavors. So the flavors are Turkey Green Bean, stuffing cranberry, sauce, ginger, glazed carrots, and sweet potato pie. They've been spotted at walgreens and as weird as they sound try them. All right. Well, Brock's is like the candy my grandmother used to eat. So I'm used to that company they I think they're kind of like biting into a Jones Soda did with their remember they made those specialty they probably still do they make their thanksgiving. Soda. This sounds weird. I do WANNA try every single one of these flavors I know they're all going to be disgusting. Well, I would totally try them me too I. Think the cranberry sauce, the ginger glazed carrots, and the sweet potato pie could be Yummy Greens and stuffing green beans candy corn the wonder if they're going to be sweet, we'll have to we have to get our hands on a bag of maybe say something nice about them. They'll send them to. We Love Brock's and did that in the breaking rocks. If we If we have like a bunch of the green beans does that count as a vegetable? Absolutely, and carrots. Kinda like Jelly belly does this to with like they have like buttered popcorn they have some savory on flavors. So weird but a good novelty thing to bring to someone's house and try. E for effort. Okay. So it looks like Uber is getting into the grocery delivery service business. It's already started in a few cities and should be rolling out throughout the rest of the country in a few months and it's available through your Uber App sued us open up the APP and the groceries available. You can order groceries through Uber I. Love that because Insta- card has become my life and I, love grocery delivery more than anything and I will try Uber Uber User. So I've tried Uber eats and that's great. The more people that want to bring me groceries without having me leave the house. The better told her wonderful lift is gonNA. Follow. Suit. Probably. Probably I cannot wait honestly do you guys use the grocery delivery services exclusively? Yeah. Amazon fresh and INSTA- cart like three or four times a week. Amazing and I've been ordering for my mom too which is a whole other story that I will probably get into later. Okay. We should get I think I actually had this idea. I want to start sending certain things to my mom with her INSTA- card orders and having her review them on the podcast I. Think it would be funny. The best thing I've ever heard. MAZING. All right. We might do that flew choose. All right. We're about to jump in to these products that have been delivered. Some of them seem weird. There's only one product I think out of all of these products that actually or maybe two that I've heard of that look familiar and I've only tried one so I cannot wait this first product is something that is totally new to me. I've heard of p being me but this is pbs me powder chocolate hazelnut spread. So I was envisioning it to be a little bit like powdered new tele kind of right like a powdered peanut butter and you tell, yeah, it's. Exactly. It's like powder peanut butter, but it's powdered hazelnut instead and then it's yeah. Two tablespoons, fifty calories to grams of fat. So the stats are amazing. Four grams of protein. I. Don't know Jimmy, you probably know this mark. It's one smart point. Amazing. Okay. So I have mixed it up with some waterman about to try it. It looks like new Tele Ish. Okay. I'm not a hazelnut fan and I really like that It's nutty. It's I've tried like almond powdered almond butter and I did not like it at all. The Hazelnut is better I have to say, I made a second version and I added cocoa. Like amp up the chocolate flavor I was gonNA, say. Yours. Looks so dark. It's really good. I added like, did you add Dr Cocoa I added my. Gear Deli Coco, which I think is dark, but it's like majestic and then I added a little more sweetener to it because I really wanted to amp it up and it's great. I'm just going to sit here and eat the whole bowl. This looks like Mustang. The consistency of years now it's Yummy wally is sitting here like dying to I. Not Allowed. I like a lot. I'm GonNa put it on Yogurt. It's really good. It's like if you like hazelnut, this would be a great dip like you could even add chocolate little mini chocolate chips to it, and and like dip little cookies in it. I'm impressed with it. You could make a dip like we sometimes do with Like light whipped topping stirred into a tub. I think if you're a hazelnut fan, you will love this. Do you think it tastes like New Tyler? I don't have like a strong. Taste memory of new tele. I think because I'm not really a huge fan. I think you tell is really way more wretched. A A. Watered down version of new tele when you add the cocoa to it, yeah. No Pun intended with water down when you add the cocoa to it, it definitely helps and you only need a tiny bit of water. So just to remind people with this is it's like a powder and then you add a little water and you mix it up and it becomes the texture of. Peanut butter spread Gu I. Bet it would be good and smoothies to great. It would be great. Cool. The next item we have is also it's yet another nut butter powder but this is a more traditional peanut butter powder by La Canto and Jamie you know more than I do but Canto they make a lot of the they're like a monk fruit sweetener company that makes A ton of different sweetener options that are really good I think. Yeah and monk fruit. If anybody doesn't know it's like the new Stevia. It's like a natural zero calorie or low calorie sweetener and made by Tony, Shalhoub, character monk. Mike he had a safe. He just no, but it's okay. You can make all the peanut butter jokes you want my. You have a free pass you're allowed. So this is just do they usually make products. Are they mostly sweetener based the things that I'm familiar with are mostly sweetener based they might have some other. We'll have to look. Okay. So we'll look we'll look at that Lepanto. They're a trusted company I. Love the fact that this is like a pouch of powdered peanut butter. The stats are very good. It's like some powder peanut butter. The stats are a little higher I don't know why or how that would be because basically, they're just the same thing but fifty calories, two tablespoons and it has monk fruit. So it's not gonNA be unsweetened like some of the powder peanut butters right but no sugar added

Mark's Cougar Conundrum

"Welcome to the is on conservation podcast. I'm Gregory. Hatanaka and today for this is on conservation. We have none other than the one the only serene assignments, how you doing Serena I'm great. I also really appreciate the way that introduce people on the show I appreciated the last introduction that you did. So Nice. So. Nice of you. I really appreciate that well I just want to do the best I can to make sure that everybody knows who the real experts are which is. No secret. Not Me so. No you're one of them for sure. Did Watts Oh. Yeah. Oh Yeah. I even know that L. No no I'm just I'm just an enthusiastic cheerleader that's really what it is and the feeling is mutual. Absolutely absolutely mutual. I'm really excited to jump into this interview that you did with Mark L. Brock. Why don't you tell listeners who this is what we're going to be listening to? Yeah mark is amazing and he the the one thing that I really appreciate about mark is he's so articulate. It's it's it's kind of crazy. It's sort of like he knows how to talk to the public and talk to stakeholders all the things that we're GonNa talk about in the interview he's really good at communicating people and communicating all his efforts and his research and and. I don't just from a management perspective as someone who is a wildlife manager everything that he said made a lot of sense and I think it would make a lot of sense to people that don't know a lot about the subject So I was really impressed with him. Mark is a researcher focuses on mountain lions or Pumas cougars whatever you WANNA, call him, and he has been working in this field for. A really long time. So he's really gotten to know the species their behavior and a lot of the conflicts that come with them and living alongside large carnivore like mountain lion. So he wrote an he's written several books but his most recent book is called the Cougar Conundrum and the Cougar conundrum kind of outlines these bigger picture and with great examples, case studies and examples of basically the history of our. You know what he calls a conundrum, which I think is the best word to use this huge problem. That we have been experiencing north, America, surrounding these animals for for hundreds of years. So it's it's really it was great getting to talk to him and I learned a lot You know not just reading the book, but also just talking him and again he has a way with the way that he speaks that it just makes sense and he's very measured and I can just really tell that he he has invested a lot of time. You know working trying to problem solve, but you have to he he's he's the perfect person because he is so measured and listens and I I just think he's he's the best possible person to do what he does. So I'm really excited to have you guys listen to our conversation. That's awesome. Yeah. He's very well spoken and this book if I'm not mistaken, you had a sneak peek at it should be coming out the day after this episode airs Yes. So I, got a sneak peek at it and I got to read it ahead of its release which will be released on August thirteenth. So yeah, the day after this episode gets. and it will be available at any bookseller He mentioned that it would be great. If you know you WANNA contact your local bookshop see if you can get a couple of copies into the store, but it's also available online and wherever you normally get your books. Well, that sounds amazing and let's just jump right into this interview. Why don't we start by you just introducing yourself your name and a little bit about your background. Sure. My Name's Markelle Brooke. I'm a father. And a working biologist and I live in western Washington on the Olympic peninsula where I am part of a massive collaboration with five tribal nations to study mountain lions on the peninsula and how they crossed the interstate five corridor. I also worked for Penn. Thera. I'm the director of the PA- Program Outline programme, whichever were you prefer? and. So I help sort of create new projects identify need identified the conservation issues for mountain lions across their entire range. So we have projects ranging from up here in Washington State all the way down to the southern tip of South America. Wow. So it's a huge I know panther is a huge. Organization it's a global organization. I mean and I know you probably get this a lot. But how did you? How did you get involved with Panther and how did you get involved with mountain lions? Indeed it's You know it's all dumb luck. Great. panthers a as he said, it's a global organization. We work to conserve wildcats and they're landscapes around the world. You know it's How ends up doing what I do is. Is Sort of a circuitous journey. One never really has plans or at least if you do they tend to go out the window and and life happens. So I tell folks because I get asked this a lot. You know you must have always planned to be outlined biologist, and now here you are. Say absolutely not you know you. Have a plan. In the field of wildlife, you may have a goal and what generally happens is an opportunity comes up and you decide to take it or you don't so

"Night. And the deadline for players to skip the upcoming NFL season because of the Corona virus pandemic has passed. 66 players chose to do so. That sounds like a huge number. But there are 2900 players in the NFL. So we're talking about 2% of the league basically. That's NBC. Sam Brock. The Cleveland Browns had five players opt out, but other players can still decide to step away after the deadline, but only under certain conditions. One of those includes a new diagnosis of a high risk condition of catching Cove in

What's going to happen that the rules officials are watching the television copy of that and seeing new and Super Selma. There was some movement of the Baltimore supposed to look at things that were you know anything that you couldn't see with? The naked eye isn't supposed to be reviewable so I'm confused as to why this ended up as a two stroke. Stroke Penalty. Thankfully, it doesn't end up affecting the tournament or anything else, but I think it's a bad precedent. I thought it was I. Don't know I understand why the rules of golf are in place and I understand. There's the gentlemanly aspect to all of that, and that's fine. I'm I'm in support of all of that, but I don't feel like this broke that in any way I thought that was kind of weak. It's not like I'm some huge Jon Rahm Fan. But I mean you were seven zero fan. Malik Smith is a holdover. I don't view Alex as part of the group that is going to come up and be relevant. When the mariners ready to compete to me, he is a holdover. Lasted this year Centerfield for the Mirror so interesting dude funny guy. He's kind of fun to be around. Yes, I'd rather hang out with Malik, Smith and a lot of the other guys in the team, but I don't think he's going to be a very important part of their future. "In the Court of public opinion, we all lose. We all lose if we're going to fight this thing out and go back and forth and fight for two preseason games or fight for this testing or that. Nope, if that's what you need to play this. the fact that those two sides are taking it out of the public realm and looks like going to get this done privately behind the scenes I. Think Kudos to them to get. This thing started on, we'll say. I'm not quite there yet. Ok? Let's maybe wait and see how this goes over the next few days before we start. Jumping up and down for joy, the NFL those owners. My guess is when the chips are down. We'll still act like all the other owners that that. Yeah, all right. We gave in the preseason games. What what's GONNA, come! Where's the other shoe to drop there in time? I think that that is businessman. In time building years to there's no question I'm not saying that they changed the course. They're billionaires for a reason. Usually grew moving the cheese and winning in the end, but at least in this season of what's going on in this country and what's. Happened in other sports. They understood not not the time, not the time to kill the golden goose enough time to fight over pennies we will fight over real dollars in the cap and the revenue in the years to come, but not for this season is this. Is this owner this group of thirty one other owners? Are they going to find a way to house Daniel Snyder? What are we doing? What are we doing with Daniel, Snyder? Has Anything happened this week. Yeah, I mean I'm just waiting for the next thing on Daniel, Snyder, and I and I hope I hope this doesn't lose momentum like. Come on. He's an incompetent owner. He took a once proud franchise and destroyed it from a competitive standpoint. They haven't been a legitimate competitor since forever. I know they had a quick upsurge with Robert with rg three the first year, but for the most part with cousins they've been an embarrassment since Joe, Gibbs first time around I mean it's been decades now since that franchise has been relevant a national stage he he refused to change the name for years, and then had the. Last week, the embarrassing in which he finally agreed to do it where he ticked off everybody on all sides of this issue, and then you get the Washington Post story just. Listing all of the problems in the culture there and the way they were treating women. What does it take? I mean those other thirty. One owners have the power to do it if they don't want him to be. Part of their club referenced with Jay Stacy last week. If you've ever watched the show billions, there's this great scene in there where he's, he wants to own the New York giants, and they talk about how sports ownership is essentially the way we night. People in the United States that since we don't have a titled Aristocracy or a system when you're when. When you're at that level. They let you into their club. You get to have a sports franchise. Throw Daniel Snyder out of your club. He hasn't belong why maybe maybe he does. And that's the problem, but I would argue he doesn't deserve that I think is gonna be the sponsors who have already seen the Fedex and the Nike and sponsors to put pressure on that have the real dollars that still in e, even though he's got plenty of I can do that to an. Already own deal with you already owners in that franchise. Already one absolutely, that's the one that is. That's the one when the other owners of the team say. Roofs? We're not going to be connected with this anymore. You guys need to step in up, do something. Here's the appraisal for the Franchisee and by the way my stake in my percentage is now a up. They Force Donald Sterling out. They could force Daniel Snyder out, and that area Richardson to absolutely I. Mean Like at some point. This has to happen, doesn't it? And and I, you know I don't want to just sit here comparing one to the next and saying better worse I. Forget that it's all bad like Daniel Center isn't belong. He doesn't deserve to be an NFL. Owner I understand that he's had the money for it and he bought the team and all that. The club they let them in the club and if you let them in the Co op. Is You know having a co-op? It's not a fee simple. It's not just. Easy to just out and get them out, and once you're in that op. It can be awfully diplomat in the NFL. You let him in. You can take them out. They can those owners are so powerful, and if thirty one of the richest people in America are going to agree to gang up on you and say, we're not going to deal with you in any way in business. Until you're out, you'll get out. And, if they really want to remove him, they can do it and they probably should I think the time has certainly come in three different ways now to show. The Daniel Snyder is not.

"I mean I'm more of an edge guy. You want me inside. No. No we really do not The Bennett retired so that that's not how the NFL retired Michael Bennett. I mean gets Cedric Lattimore. Right Cedric Damarcus Christmas He didn't play, but he can see mark. Kay. L. J. Collier can move. Is that really what we're talking about in the Interior Defensive Line. That that's crazy or you look. Roster that is Brian is on the roster. Is there that is what a politician of strength for them throughout the years. They've always found that Allen branch. Right Mar Stephan? Yeah that that guy was just going to eat up. EAT UP! Defenders eat up a offensive linemen and Daniel. They've always fan those guys. I'm sure thanking. We're going to go out. There are a bunch of older veteran defensive Lineman that I've got their wear and tear in this league and play that little role, and and carve out that get big snacks out here possibly. Bossa! Snacks. I can't disclose that information right, I mean flukes not here anymore, so it's not like you'd have to take them on and practice. You get big snacks here. Or just going to run on right that that is the group where it is. You know I was I was chatting on the morning. Show this week. Just kind of talking about what would be a disappointment for this season for the Seahawks, and if you go nine and seven and missed the playoffs, and why is it that I mean that's going to be group? You'RE GONNA point too, because they believe in that building unlike Kyle. They believe that machine green can take another step. From four and a half to seven and a half, and they believe Bruce Irvin's going to get eight or nine sacks, and they believe that L. J. Collier can be a contributor in starter in a difference maker in time, and we'll get his feet. Welcome grow this season and you know they believe those things, and then you know they. They've got to get something. I know you giving them nothing but Daryl Taylor and I mean they've you've got yet. I'm not buying that you've got to. I'll buy into L.. J. Collier is a better player than he was a year ago. I'll buy into. We'll get a little bit more from regime green assault. Sprinkled in as a rookie at least a time. High season and everything else. Areas Aren't going to have their replay. Stick around that you traded for. This guy is a forty eight pick. You came up and you traded for nearly willing to take in the first round I over under on Sax for Darryl. Tell this year's one. Yup, I'm in on that and we want the over I'm absolutely taken that number after my George Fan projection season. Go I will take you. To take over under one by the way twelve, that'd be great. Yes, I'm rooting for him. Don't get me wrong, but it's hard for me to imagine that a rookies going to come in right away this year with no preseason with a weird offseason and a weird training camp and everything else and contribute. Contribute normally for how many saxophone Clark has rookie year. Two. Or One and a half, so so I don't think. It's too crazy on Derek. Taylor July twenty first. There is another move to be made I. Continue to hold out that hope. I, think these guys are too smart, so which they can look at that and go. You know what I don't agree with pro football focus, but it's not like we're thirty to thirty one hundred. Fifty they go away might be fourth. Yeah, but they're not fifth. They're not anywhere near the top fifteen. Right in their. Their production speaks van. Their experience speaks for that so I. There's I'm still holding out plenty of hope that an organization that has made moves the eleventh hour. An organization that is willing to take on some risk and organization that is willing to play. The game to the final minute is sitting here looking as they. They did a year ago with the clowney move and whether it's Yana Gawk way whether it's cloudy, whatever it is some of these veteran defensive linemen. I still hold hope that they know. They know in their heart of hearts that what they have on paper right now. Heading into the season is not good enough to win your division when the wanted to be. A to me. It's still cloudy even if he is a even if he's limited practice participant, he's a bright lights guy. He's a production guy. He's a disruption guy and he does not cost you other than I. Think this season some some real millions of dollars for this season. He doesn't cost you cap space down the road. He doesn't cost you. Draft picks down. The road is an gakuen Jamal Adams, and other moves woods, so to me and I put that in a poll question and I think that was the overwhelming candidate for fans out there nearly sixty percent of them, said the same thing. Find a way to get a deal done with that guy. Even if it means a little bit of money this year, even if it means, he gets nicked up and injured, and you only have eight or nine. You've kind of left yourself not much of a choice I mean if you want to continue to compete with in Russell, Wilson's prime which you're in right now. And you have. The thirty second ranked ranked group in the second most position, but most important position after quarterback. But you have to decline. He's on that team where he probably due to the twenty fifth or the twenty. What if it's cloudy and snacks? And I and I'm not saying that snacks as I understand that now that I know who he is, he's no longer the player he used to be and that he's available. For Reason. That's not I'm not looking at him as a savior. I'm looking at I'm just as depth because quite frankly if you have an injury to Poona, Ford or Jarran Reed. Your thrown Brian Monet out there, or what was the guy's name Donaldson I know Christmas? Who Was the enemy centric? Lattimore. Started defense place at the table. Edrich lattimore. Who is that my order? The next call and call. It sounds like to me. I will guy let's go. It sounds exactly like that's what he is so. Yeah. At agit Evian, cloudy and snacks, or someone like him, whatever you ranked twentieth, maybe low twenties. At least that's doable. It's still not where you want to be, but you got Russell Wilson? You got a pretty good pretty good group of WEAP- like you can start to write. What you what you're going to look at all. Your lottery tickets that you think are gonNA work out now. If they actually do out then you have an average to above average defense and you got a quick Dunbar. That's obviously going to help the secondary cutting people down, so hey, by the way to do something like. Can I just say a little something here? Little Kudos to the NFL to and I think in this time, and in this day and age you have to learn and be adaptive of what's going on around you and I think there are a lot of folks on Sunday. Twitter storm of all the players that came out and about thought Oh. Boy, here we go the NFL and Roger. Goodell and these guys and they're just not gonNA. They're gonNA. Get in. In the same or the baseball did right we're here. We're on the precipice of getting this going. They're going to play ball and they're not. GonNa know that it looks like by all accounts that they met the players and said okay. We're not going to do a baseball. We're just we've learned that lesson..

"Think you're GonNa, see managers, or at least a few who go out there and stand or kneel shoulder to shoulder with their team so I? That's what I'm expecting and I'm here for it. I'm curious to see what it looks looks like and I'll support it. I I think that that. Yes, there is an element now where it's easier than it was when capper nick did it, but that doesn't take away from from a strong statement being made. They're going to speak to it. I don't know I. Mean I think he's seen. Some players starts element of it. As well is is just for show, or do you believe is? We've talked about this doug. Baldwin and the Seahawks, and the players as we saw Jeremy Lane, unable to speak too much of anything. Yes, right, and that makes it much more difficult. I don't think it's going to I don't know that it'll be the. The same as that like I. I! Don't know I think that that. If I were player and look in baseball, you may get guys. The barely speak English. Who who are making the same sensor? Did they have to speak to it in English? No, I think if I'm a player in in I'm not the most verbose, oh right, and and and you WanNa ask me. Hey, I've made my statement. That's it. I'm making my statement by what I'm doing with action rather than with my words. That's not my strength. I'll leave it to the guys who were who were really good someone like Dee Gordon who I'm sure we'll be able to explain himself very well if he chooses to kneel these a really bright guy and well well spokane easy to understand, he's he absolutely. I'd leave that. Dee Gordon or or to anyone else you call that Jeremy Lane you say my actions have spoken I. Choose not to let my words reflect anything because it's. It's just not gonNA go. Yeah, yeah, I, I I. Don't know I think that I think we're going to see it, you're right. Not every player who kneels is going to be able to fully explain why. But I'm okay with that. I I don't know that they have to. And you know if I were report I barely convenient reporters to ask them questions about it. They're going to bigger fish to FRY but I. "Hold up the phone on. Never say. The phone honor. Back to watch the game and my buddy days ago, so I was like it's Andy got the heck. She's congratulated before. This thing's not over. It was furious. No eventually, yeah, I mean. We're not together anymore I draw. That that was the beginning of the foundation. Has something pulled right out of it right? But the passion was real man I mean. I was I was legitimately furious that somebody would say something like that I'm not sure that so passion meter. Is the game right there. Again there anymore. Already to end the relationship, because the mariners about start at sixty games right? Yeah, it's not. Willing to compromise is in my life these days that I wasn't necessarily when I was twenty one. Yeah, thank you. Great really grown in the next. Life that was half my life ago right? We're getting old. Speaking of of kids that age we there are some kids on the mariners right and Kyle. You're throwing the chrome cast on. What are you doing? You're watching the kids. You're not tuning into see Kyle seager. For Donnie Wall but yeah not kyle. You're not you're an Donovan Walton by the way, but no, you're watching, Louis and you see the kids man you WanNa you, WanNa, see what Logan Gilbert all right so so I thought I would run through a bunch of the younger players on the team, and maybe we just said. What do you need to see from them this year? What are you hoping to see from them this year? That gives you confidence in in what's going on with the mariners. What with that player and you're not gonNA get it from every one of them right I mean we all know you. You're if you have a hit rate of what? What are you hoping for is hit rate on these guys forty percent. Incredible right twenty five percent of like real hit rate would be amazing, so you're not gonna get it from all of these guys, but if you can get it from a few and hopefully then get it from county, and then kind of the next generation of you really have something, so we'll start with Kyle Lewis just because he hit all the home runs last year. We talked about him last week. What do you? What do you need to see from Kyle? Lewis this year? Who just just even out to some level of consistency came out on fire right in the whole. Can you make adjustments and you saw the pictures obviously? Obviously make adjustments because the guy can damage a fastball, so is there a level of just consistency and it's going to be very difficult in sixty km season. Are This be a sprint? So if you go through a week or two in a normal hundred sixty two game season as every player, even the League is do where there's a slump or a bump in the road it's going to be exaggerated over the course of sixty games so hopefully it's not a week or two or three weeks. It's a series or two series and your flesh, and you get back on that consistency trained. So can he hit north of two fifty? Right, can he? Can you have an on base north of three thirty? I'm not asking for a three hundred hitter. Three sixty on base, but can you just one out of four times, can you? Can you find yourself on base? 'cause you know the double and triple and the home run, and and just that a Taco power is there, so he hits two fifty for me over the course of sixty gain. Step, which is funny because I know you're not like a simple batting, average guy, but in this case it it. It would show you something about Kyle Lewis. He hit two forty. Yeah I mean I'll throw the hubbub. Passable defense and I know Scott said his defense has looked better in that he's going to play a little bit of center. What I saw in his brief stint in the majors, last year was not major league quality defense. He got turned around pretty bad and a couple of fly ball. I mean he did not look like play more last year, right? They throw them and write a bunch career center fielder until he had a couple of knee injuries, and then moved to corner like I think. That's probably GonNa have to happen. I mean I don't I. Don't think his speed at this stage. After the knee injuries is going to allow him to long-term be their center fielder especially in this park, so you know he's GonNa have to figure that out. Can you play right or left field capably and not get yourself turned around be at the very least not a liability out there. You don't have to be a gold glover, but you gotta not be a liability and I think what we saw last year. Was that beyond? Give him a chance. Chance to play center something he is done Wisconsin well comfortable something Scott said it's easier. Get a jump on the ball because it's right at you a little bit more than those cornerstone I think that they'll have an opening in centerfield sooner rather than later. Let's just say that. I have exactly zero. Confidence Alex Smith. We're GONNA play that sound now or later when you are playing well, that's not why nothing to do with that and I. Just I haven't had how often Smith ever I'd like to play now now. We're getting to that. To that sound I promised produce bringing his football camp to your backyard. "Man. Anybody excited. Yes, I'm really like more excited than I thought I would be I'm really really excited been so excited that you've got on the stream and started watching their in game practice. Past that to my TV so I could feel like I was watching real baseball I was like. Yes, here comes Donnie Walton. This is really. Let's go! And what happened next. Came Jack Mosman your friend and ours. The traveling series starting in left field at bats. Oh, was fantastic struck out, but did you see? Running ninety four on his hands, Adam, giving him no. No Gun in the ball and he he handled it. He didn't get a hit or anything. Battling secretary we deal with them. When we go down to Peoria, he'll with tickets he helps coordinate all their travel and flights, houses, hotels, etc, and his. If I remember right. His first year was the trip to Japan. Yes. Job for like ten minutes and they were like. Oh, by the way, plan a trip to Japan okay. Poor Jack but he he's a good dude. Any your quitted himself very well. I thought he had solid swings, did make contact necessarily, but he was, he was right on I mean. But I was just enough to be drinking all of that and so yes, there are so many things I'm just missed about baseball and the weather finally turned this past week here and we actually got summer it. It sunk in even more of just like man. All the things that baseball accompanies and and I think that's what it is is the way baseball accompanies everything I'm cooking dinner at night or grilling. Whatever the Games on right? Right. It's just it's there with you. You jump in the car to go somewhere. You throw the game on. You. Continue from where you were just watching right? You get there. Maybe you're on your phone and following to see what's happening I mean baseball. Just it comes with you. It's not an event. It's not like football. You don't make your plans around the fact that Sunday at one o'clock. You're going to be watching the game. It's just assumed it's just on, and you're just you've it follows you throughout the summer wherever you go, and then I thought about this before until you reference that it is the pastime for a reason, it passed this time, and there are pastimes of your life that you look at it, and you view it differently when you are a passionate teenager or in college watching the mariners with great emotion and passion and I got to see this and take it in, or maybe you do so at the sports bar. Right in. You're hanging out with your college buddies, and then all of a sudden you get to our phase of life salt with kids, and it's in the background while you're grilling. Grilling or it's just honor you know you put the kids to bed and you're sitting there. You know nine o'clock at night here in the north, west is the sun is setting in. You're sitting on the couch and you're watching it with your wife or your friends or you know, and then maybe some other friends come over, and as you get older it, you'd see a lot of older manner fans worth their social equity. They like to go to the stadium right with with others of their age. Sit there and bring out their scorebook in relive their memories through, so it kind of takes you through all phases of life much more easily than just the emotional drain. That is Sunday. It really is defense. You talking about that passionate and college just was reminding me of a moment. Maybe I've told the story before I. Don't know, but it was the nineteen ninety nine al. Ds Game Five. You may know that game as the game. Pedro Martinez came in against the Indians and shut them down five or so innings. He was hurt and he didn't start game five, which was the deciding game and he came in. In out of the bullpen, and like as soon as he came all this things over, and I think he didn't allow hit. If I'm not mistaken Pedra was it was him at his absolute very best, and the red sox came back from two games down down to and end up winning that series. Three two Troy O'Leary hit a couple of home runs. No Mar was great, great, great series and I'm watching a my dorm room is a senior in college and and in the last inning like they're up a few or whatever and anybody who knows red SOx history, prior to two thousand and four knows nothing safe. No matter what it is. There's a decent chance that they're going to blow it. Nineteen ninety-six didn't feel that long ago in nineteen, ninety nine and my girlfriend at the time, who was a huge huge baseball fan that's spring. She didn't come with me and a bunch of people including heather by the way to Hawaii because she wanted to go to as spring training like she was a huge huge rights. That's really too bad I hung out with heather. That entire trip, weird story. It was like three years before we started dating, but so she. She calls me on my dorm phone. Right at the end, the games like a couple of left and she said Hey. Congratulations look what?.

Was On the course last Tuesday. Laughing watching how we kinda laughed at first, and then by about fifteen, no more laughing I gotta say Spank in the show falls on. The four of us all went golfing on on last week after the show. That's about as hard as I've laughed in months I was like I was laughing for four hours. It was my mouth and sort of cheeks hurt afterwards mostly from laughing, at Howdy was your course or the following thinking that two. Strokes so. Pepperoni or the Fried I'll take the FR- shouldn't even get the word out of her mouth right, but yeah that the fried yeah! So, he takes his. Bacon flat bread and turned it into. A Bacon and Fried Veroni flat. Bread brilliant did if I'm not mistaken, also had pinch on it as great. Oh, yeah, and absolutely did. He played them so hard. To replace like five cents worth of apple for like two dollars worth of united. Brought the value of that meal so far up. He didn't pay for any of it. Obviously, but still it was nice of him to do that for me and brought ended up paying for the meal. At the end of all. That is three. Is clearly three things. In our decade together, he's number one and we can all agree with this. He is a tremendous tremendous gift receiver. I mean there's just that you can give gifts to all sorts of people in your life, and there's some that are terrible gift receivers. There are others that are on the other end of the spectrum, and there's nobody further on that spectrum. Those kids where they like prank him. Give them up an Anna for Christmas a two year. Olds like Oh this is. How he still is, you could prank. It's a starbucks LID. You'd be like Oh my heart and so nice. Thank God. There is the only one who comes close to yeah. Optimism. La You. Only Jay has this optimism thing that tends to drive me nuts right? The one thing I did get right though in our car, it was as soon as howdy brought out his five would I turn to him as? Soon as we can have their brock's GonNa make reference to your Nancy Lopez seven. How long did take Africa not seven? I approached the team. Braga. The Nancy Lopez seven. What I see Ya. Never heard that one. Always like he's like frank, novel or something. And comes Osborne with the Nancy Lopez seven. Lastly is you reference? Yes, the man loves good food. He sure does. There's just no debate like he cherishes. Every bite of that fried pepper on. It was it capped off an incredible day? I thought maybe even imagine if. I could get a by the fried pepperoni Eva taste that good with job salad I ordered and I was like. "It's kind of new that about Phil but seeing behind the scenes and also seeing the XS and os and like Pete Carroll had bud grant and Monte Kiffin Guys Phil Jackson had tex winters so even though he's a Hippie in a new age guy and totally different. I'm going to lock arms with TEX winters. I'M GONNA lock arms with Bud Grant Monte Kiffin. I'm no these XS and os so well but then I'm going to deal with crazy Rodman and I can deal with crazy marshawn and have that same character trait so yeah kind of remarkable to watch. You know some of the behind the scenes with Phil. That's what I've loved. You make the whole thing is never big is I know. What do you make of that argument? I mean do you as as you watch it and you hear. Isaiah say look. That's what was done. The Celtics did it to us the year before. It wasn't the era of sports radio. Judging every single thing you did we just walked off the field because we are the court because we were disgusted versus Jordan saying no. I shook hands. And that's what you're supposed to do. What do you make of all I think? In that case when Jordan. Who got the Tar? Beat out of him right by those teams had the resolve to shake their hands and give them their due. And then you don't do that to him when when he comes up when little brother finally beats you. You're going to be a little baby. You can be a Brat like that. And they said well. That's Larry Bird and the Celtics did you would know that Salk. You studied the the Celtics of the eighties did they. They showed the video right in the right in the dollar they said that was for security purposes is that is that a myth. Yeah that's what you've heard from Celtics people and some of those guys like Whoa. Whoa WHOA pretty easy. Like doesn't mean that's how Isaiah interpreted at the time. I mean you know even if that is the case and there's truth truth to that you're like man these guys walk off the court okay. I guess that's how it's done. I don't know I kind of a bill laimbeer. I'm not like you and how I didn't hate everybody but mainly of course Olympics and the fact that he's first of all the fact that he's the one who suggests they'll walk backwards but the fact that Isaiah sells him out on it also makes perfect sense is as is the worst. You're absolutely right. And it's easy to side with Jordan and this one because one of them's Michael Jordan and the others Isaiah Thomas and Tom so obnoxious and he's been such a failure in every other part of life other than his ability to be a basketball player that it is it makes perfect sense to decide against him in whatever argument is happening but I do think there is something interesting to just that there is the level of hatred that existed then between teams that I miss and will we ever be able no no sport. You'll never get it again in any sport Yonex. Oh No never will never happen again in any major sport ever. I mean maybe m. a. or something like that individuals for but never know in pro team. Sports you will never get hatred between teams the way you did. Then because of the way free agency and agents and training said it's just changed the game and guys like Jordan changed it in some ways by instituting that level of no. We're going to be. We're going to be respectful at the end now. Hockey's hockey gets this right. Where yeah you shake hands? But it doesn't mean you have to stop hating them right and so you can take a number and no. I'M GONNA fight that guy next year but it's not going to be at the end of this series because I can't do it now I'm GonNa shake his hand because that's the classic thing to do and next year. I'M GONNA homeless face right. I love that element of hockey of that. Need to hold onto your temper knowing that you're going get the to fight him some other day so no. I don't think what do you think we're GonNa see that level of hatred again no way. I don't WanNa say never ever. You just never know how things are going to turn. We never know how this going to look on the other side coming out of what we just kind of come out of and and are still obviously in the midst of but economically and what these leagues are going to look like an all of these things that we thought for sure just set in stone and this is where it's always going to be. This experience of the last. Few months has shown us that you just never really fully no but I totally understand where you're coming from it. It's hard to imagine in this day and age. It getting turn back the clock to I mean Haley in macy were watching that. And they were like flinching. They're like punch each other so great. I play basketball body. Slamming do that so And that that brand of maybe. The knicks ruined for everybody. Oh so much more fun to watch that than it is now. I just just just night and day in Football I. It hasn't been enough to make me stop watching but in basketball has and I miss that level of competition in the way. Those teams went after each other. There's been fun fun talking draft with you. We will be back next week. Obviously for more. Thank you for the birthday wishes. I appreciate it and we will be back with you guys next week until then the hey is in the forty two year old barns everybody..

"We're going to take some risk there because there's probably somebody with an attribute that's pretty unique but some others that you know weigh him down to the fourth round and his mind fifth sixth and seventh with special teams like you know. How can we find a role for that guy on our team in on the special teams in work and you'd be a monster and that was kind of the way that he viewed it and I'm sure a bunch of people do? I just wonder at some point is I look at these six fifth sixth and seventh round. Pick Saudi right. And you've you talk about this a lot. V Six K. J. Right was a fifth round. Pick. It's two hundred and fifty tackles and was a three year starter. At Mississippi State Kam Chancellor was a fifth round pick. He was three year starter at Virginia. Tech with over two hundred tackles and six picks and he was. He was a really good player. Richard Sherman was an anomaly because he hated Jim Harbaugh and even harbaugh wanted him out so booted him and he played one year corner was a pretty productive starter for him in that one year. You as it were good. You know good football players. Good on on the on the production sheet. You know. We're we're we're really productive guys and when you look at like thirteen fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen so many of them are all just risk risk. Risk that that really did very little in college. You know Stephen Sullivan Freddie Swain and you know home Robinson at one. Good Year like at some point. Worst-case a hill at some point. Worst prochet at some point where these guys right gene-o stone from Iowa that were good to great college players the May not project because of their some of their physical limitations with some point. Don't you need and wouldn't it be nice to kind of balance your draft with some of those guys that have been very very good players. That's that's kind.

"We think now here your hosts Karakia Weird and Mike Song we go what other brock insult. Podcast post draft addition. No more speculation on names. Now we get to speculate on future performance of set names I appreciated. How do you get called out for just referring to people's names where he's coming from like I get it like we were just going to draft somebody based on their nail like okay? Yeah I coming from but really. That's all these guys are. I mean you know other than for a select small group who are studying the tape and they are just names they are and that's why draft you know. Instant analysis is bunk generally y. It's it's challenging too. Great a draft right after it's happened because you know Bobby Wagner. Nobody knew who he was. And Russell Wilson was considered a bad pick and so there there's example after example of guys that were not highly thought of who ended up being great and vice versa. Obviously the jamarcus Russell's of the world and plenty of others who were Curry and others here. Who we thought. We're going to be world leaders. Who who never materialized at all so when you judge draft it's challenging to just you know judge the names what you can judge. I believe is the strategy behind it Brooke and I will say overall. I'm disappointed by the strategy that the seahawks showed off over the weekend. I didn't think it was well thought out. I thought that that it got away from the and we always talk about the game speeding up on you. I wasn't in the draft. I don't know it was going through John Schneider Tad I don't. I don't know any of that personally but the sense I got watching it from the outside. Is that when they weren't able to trade back on day one that after that the draft just got away from them that that everything they wanted to do. They weren't fully able to accomplish that. It was all based on okay. We trade out of twenty-seven we pick up an extra pick in the third or fourth and that allows us to do ABCD and e through the rest of the drive and when that's ratted g was taken away from them by Green Bay deciding. They got a better deal elsewhere. It just saying this. Tom Jenkins Sixty the day. If you've ever done fantasy drafts and I don't do them anymore and played fantasy in a decade. But I remember doing especially in baseball fantasy drafts. And you go into the planet screws it up and I'm not good enough at it and I didn't pay enough attention next. Like gotTa hate by team. I didn't even mean to draft any of these guys. Like congratulations to me. I've got the best second I got chased in the mid. Two thousand right man. I missed that on every shortstop on every on every ace. How did I end up with this team? This was not the team. I know why because I didn't think someone was GonNa Take David Wright with the thirteenth pick and the next thing you know. That's what I was built that I don't know that that's what happened to the seahawks over the weekend but just watching them go linebacker. Who's who's a really seems to be a bit of a Ridge. Even by their own their own words a bit of h you know edge rusher who was not part of the top tier guard. Just kind of go through it. It doesn't it just didn't feel right. Well a couple of things I I use the word perplexing after the draft in in in in the heat but now kinda stick with that word that was an emotional reaction then and seventy two hours later digested. It is still a bit perplexing. I've done a fair amount of work to try to kind of dig into their philosophy on it and I think I've got a pretty strong opinion but you mentioned names Mike and I can't. I can't go any further here. I mean there was forty two years ago on this day. The Michael Patrick Saul came into the world. Jewish that name which is that name but okay. Thanks Patrick we'll go. That name was established on this day. Forty two years ago so happiest of happy forty. It's a great number. Angst is a numerology. Guys you are. This is Jackie Robinson's number. This is Leno hills number four to eight powerhouse powerhouse. Number you kind of coming into your own in many ways. Probably the halfway point of your journey you know usually eighty four. You know a pretty strong life. So congratulations happy. Happy Birthday Hewitt feels like just yesterday. I was miserable turning forty. And somehow I don't even remember turning forty one and here we are at forty two so things are getting away from you. Know Talk About Things. Get away from you. I can sympathize seahawks. I feel like this whole birthday. Age thing has gotten away from me in the last few years wearing my where my reading glasses to do anything to get a new phone and I was having this debate about the iphone. Eleven to the pro the eleventh bigger so I see on the other hand. The PRO has a little bit better screen. So maybe the clarity will help me better. I'm GonNa get you one of those giant Remote controls with the buttons that size of eyeballs just actually pressed the button my buddy native forest. Tacos texting him about it. And he's like dude. Just use the bigger font use. The old man fought. I'm avoiding that. I'm not using your Sanphong farther away from my face as terrible. It's just awful so there you go. Yeah thanks thanks for bringing up well. Happy Birthday seriously is pretty cool. We get to do a podcast taping on your actual birthday so and you've got great plans for the rest of the day and you had a great idea to get into some takeaways and tidbits which I'm excited to do so and Potpourri and answer some questions so what a day. "What does this mean this rain guy shook him to the core? The core of him is no longer intact. These these eight and a five and a three zero impossible. What do you have howdy? I've got a four a two and a one year old. Oh also not doable. No now the one thing you do have known for his. You don't have to really teach them anything yet. That is a helpful thing buddy but teach my one year old across scoots on his butt all day long. What even crawl is the laziest baby I've ever seen. Literally pulls his. He just moves his and pulls his bowling. I don't want to one up you here but have you met my older daughter. You remember her as a baby she at least had like no major fall and surgery. She didn't that was my wife. My daughter didn't have that she was fine. We USED TO DO TUMMY. Time with them right where they have to hold their neck up. Yeah she would just quit. Her face would just go face down into a pillow and we'd have to pick her up so she wouldn't as fixing herself lazy babies. I understand that being home with the kids. It's a challenge. Man Ju it's clearly affecting Joel. We had a conference call with holiday the other day and every time he unloaded. You just heard seth the young screaming rain bath just screaming. Just nothing would scream. Unless he is sitting in his mom's lap and I will admit I had to tell the kids last night that That school was done off. There were so upset man. It was such a bummer. And I you know it's GonNa rain about on twitter. Believe me things could be a whole lot worse for the salts we are we are not you know bemoaning our position we have jobs. We're secure in them I think I hope You know we're we're we have our health. We're doing pretty fine. I know there are a lot of people who are much much much worse shape and and if you were either dealing with some of the health effects of this or lost your job or family i. It's so challenging right now and I. My heart goes out to a million people but just in my own life having to having to tell the kids that they weren't going back to school terrible. I they were just. It was crushing to them. They're eight and five almost six. They love going to school at that age. They love seeing their friends. They love their teachers. Like it's a really warm place for them and to say that to tell them about that was really lousy. It just stunk there. Are they now starting to do some of the virtual school a little bit? I mean the. Yeah but it's not the same man I mean you know. They talk to their friends. And but it's not the same. You just can't compete with with the socialization of nothing. I mean when you're that age learning a little bit in school and we're able to help with facilitate some of that although you know. There's a reason neither. Heather became kindergarten teachers. Yes but but there's no substitute for twenty five kids in a class learning to get along really important th joke. It's a really important part of white kids go to elementary school. Yes the socialization and those skills and and I think you talked about this a month ago with one of the first podcast we did. It's just like the way you're wired. I'm a you need interaction. You're able to at least still get some of that. Salk there in the office among some of the essentials and I'm glad how'd he is now in a central and he's back in the office today. I mean really. I mean I'm just coming in on Tuesdays to do this. I'm out of the office now. Six of the seven days. Oh are you really. I mean this is the first time I've been in here in a week while you know I I I I don't know about you. We've done some. You mentioned family calls earlier. How did that go for you doing Zoom Family friendship-type call? Oh it was fascinating. Yeah it was a fascinating human interaction and socialization. Yes as you can imagine Peggy Mike on one and then Damon was in one dark room by himself. He in class earn very much. Yes the you can imagine Bob Stilton Damon and those that have germ issues going into this. So he is in his own space in the hall not even seeing his family. He's like but he's having a tough tough go so they were. Each Sam was in a room. Holly was in a room broke and and Julie were together in the Nar home. Titus Amalia at the kitchen table Haley was in her room. May centers a room. I was outside so we all all of that going on. And then all of a sudden you got some background. Some of those were super savvy. Virtual background like Sam did with with trump. That was great. That was a great starter. Conversation Starter might turn himself into trump yet the background just like you know you could change your all sorts of fun stuff so like he was up on the up on the stage doing the daily press briefing with the force. Oh that's good saying rows probably rally. Was it a rally or was it the task for whatever it was got a bunch of last like steer it back on. No no no Oh and I forgot their ago forgetting Luke. Luke's there. In in Dolly Serena and savvy were in a different room. Luke's in one room Luke and Sam and Graham Mike. We're certainly diagram football. Plays and talk about that. So it was quite an extravaganza. I think that thing went an hour. I mean it was. It was action packed. I will say that. I'm hoping that will be one silver lining that comes out of this. I had a couple of buddies. My Buddy Joel. Who you've met Brock and Keith. We're three of us. Were on a happy hour. Call Saturday afternoon and it. Just sort of dawns me. There's really no reason that we haven't all been doing some of that stuff especially for those in the situation like me. Were a lot of your friends. Live around the country you know. We love seeing each other. Occasionally we've always taxed and it's always been sort of a written communication but this pretty easy to jump on a call like that and connect for forty five minutes especially in a small group of two to four anything on longer than that gets a little challenging. But that's sort of two to four. The other thing is and how this'll be good for you. I was thinking about this if this had been a thing when our kids were really young instead of getting a babysitter which is a whole thing and you have to. You know it's expensive and you've got. There's a million problems with that. You can get together with other parents at night. Once the kids go to bed without leaving your house. Have you guys done that? I'm GONNA BE DOING THAT TONIGHT. Actually with a friend but has as it was my ideal. Schefter. This is exactly because you just said that. I had rescheduled amazing. Yeah doesn't make sense eligible like it's an opportunity to at least have some of that social interaction without needing to leave your house touching your friends all the time when you're getting together anyways it's not like restaurants or anything. There's no restaurants three months ago so I would like to get together so we could all like you know touch each other's hair and stuff. You don't do that eat together. I try to do that. We're just sitting in the same spot talking. Try to make all my friends especially friends wives also trying to make everybody super uncomfortable by touching each other like years. Virtually but I do really appreciate the ability to be able to touch your ears so one other note from being at home and I don't know how many other people have experienced this brock. And you may be a better than howdy on this so for years on this show we've had questions about. Hey if you had all the money in the world you get a housekeeper. Do you get a get a trainer. You get a cook right. We've had all those questions over and over again and I have been steadfast that by far the most important thing in a marriage etc is being a good roommate right. We've talked about that. The second you have a spare couple of dollars the first thing you should invest him is somebody to come clean your house at least once a month. It is the first thing whether you're cheap whether you're rich whether you're put whatever it is the moment you have a little teeny. Bit Don't upgrade your apartment. Don't spend money on a nicer car. Don't go on vacation get somebody to your home to clean it once a month at the very least to scrub the toilets cleaned the showers mop the floor. All of that so that you don't have to do it right. We've talked about this is molly would say. I'M GONNA Grill. Yes not a word. But it's one that she likes to use so yes. I am in total agreement with you on that. Well that's not working right now right. That's not for anybody anybody who's got that service that's not happening. So I found myself for the first time over the weekend in a decade at least scrubbing the shower and the toilets. Now here's the thing. Yes wife and I are wired a little differently you know. I don't care if my house is clean or not. If the if the corona virus quarantine lasted six months. I don't know if it would dawn on me in that time to scrub the floors. Clean the shower or the toilet. It would never even dawned on me now that being said every day. I'm on my wife okay. When are we going to straighten up the basement? When are we going to get to this closet when we going to like? I want my house need and straight but I don't care whether or not it is scrubbed. Clean it wouldn't even occur to me checks out with you for the time knowing you in the last twelve years. That checks out right. Yes I want. What he's thinking about me. How do you think I fit in those two boxes brock? I would say that you have an eye for everything being correct and right and clean places at all times all are you saying. I'm just about the appearance of things in clean. Maybe one of you likes things to look. Lean in one of you won't be according to my twitter. Poll about about sixty five percent of people agreed with me. They also preferred neat to clean. Which I thought was interesting. Yeah you need that you scrub your toilet and your show cares you take a shower every day. It gets clean. How much cleaner does it need to be the problem in the complete opposite category? Both of you. I like things to be clean. I don't really care if they're neat really. Yes you don't care if there's just clutter evert on stress you out. I I if people rego's and stuff on my myself no. I can't function if their dishes. I can't leave dishes and overnight every time I step in one of those legos. I WANNA murder. Somebody Wire Lego SOC sharp is just. It's just mean I guess we gotta get Outta here. We don't even really get to the whole The baseball conversation about what they're going to do that. Would you like that? Plan Brock? Talk.

"They did to the rams. They didn't beat the rams they may have ended their season. And this whole run might be now for the Ram. Their quarterback stinks. They're running back where they spent all their money on stinks. Their coach doesn't have a clue how to deal with the fact that he's got a super bowl hangover and he's lost some of the great talent and I think the ravens have showed what the Hawks have showed showed the last couple of years which is run right at Aaron Donald and he's not nearly as effective izzy is when you try to try to throw the be willing to bet my power shovels first round. Pick in like five years. Yeah I'd be willing to bet my podcast salary that the first game that Greg Roman the coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens went and looked at the very first game as he prepared for those rams an opponent they don't see a lot I put in. Was that game where they ran for. Nearly three hundred on these sure Ryan was like how did they go about. Oh that's how they did it. Oh Wow they just. They just was physically demolish them at the point of attack they ran gap empower. And and then you know mixed in a little. QB Run and we got this student. That's playing faster than anybody in the League right now. That's the crazy thing about Lamar like to your I. It used to be Odell. It was to Sean Jackson. Like you'd look at a certain player Percy Harbin that he is faster than everybody buddy else in this league grubber third college when he was playing. Just like wow. He's literally a different athlete than everybody else in the fact that new griffin after Ooh that up. I don't like that so fast. Yeah just a totally different thing now. can the secondary do that against actual receivers. We saw them do it against Philadelphia. I've been there taking guys off the street and stand against on digs and dealin on Monday night. Yeah if the Lennon's back I know he's been out with a hamstring and I mean it will be a different challenge especially for trey. Trey is a guy that when you're going to match up against equal dudes of his speed. He's going to do what he did when he has to. Face guys trays a four six guy. And he's got a face four three or four four. He's GonNa just give them naturally more room he's going to just have to stay on top he's just going to have to give them some more cushion so they're going to maybe some of these matchups with some of these teams. It'll be a little more challenging and in particular Monday night Stefan digs a guy. The seahawks paid a lot of attention to in this match up a year ago. Oh I mean a lot of attention with their personnel and we'll probably in some ways have to do the same but Shaq Shaq's plan yeah. I think he's competent. And as awesome. I I you know they. They see if you get cloudy back. Of course you should. I hope for that Monday night. And all the sudden you start looking this seahawks just have their whole defense is completely turned around around just as the calendar is getting ready to turn to December go figure Pete Carroll has kind of stepped in and worked his magic and shown why he's been one of the best defensive coaches in the league over over the course of his career so Hoxha put themselves in great position prime position to have a first round bye they are a heart attack group more than adrenaline group. I do have a country and opinion on. We'll Farrell's strong opinion. They talk. He's not my favorite. But I love old school like I. Love Will Ferrell when he's Kinda I thought he was great on. SNL last week when he started played it a little more subtle. So Your Dad's an opinion down immediately ought not funny. Never said anything funny TAT. Stand up like dad doesn't insane tone swear to met Larry and you'd be shocked or Larry and Jane listened to the podcast gene. They were they were they were the whole. I'm still listening. All over and dad knew how to operate a podcast. Say what Mike Mike thanks. My Dad's sounds like the goat. No idea what we're talking about so anyway that's We we went with them to see frozen to frozen to Ah eight-plus not necessarily a movie overall. But for the for the very narrow line they had to walk. Yeah probably as much pressure in that movie as any movie in history to try to Try to live up to live up to frozen. It's up there for sure it's up as ma. Maybe not I mean there for a few others in any star wars movie but it's after Star Wars especially Well episodes what four and episode. It was a one one seven those enormous pressure on the mall so you are and one of them failed. One of them succeeded. I would say this absolutely succeeded in walk. Did you see how haven't yet I think you'll like you'd like the first one I thought the first one it's complicated it's it's a whole nother high enough itself just fine anyway it was really get the music's good good humor the animation. What they're doing animation is crazy? It's insane like the computer. Animation is just crazy so gets a full throated recommend also for me. If you're out there this is going to be like a little potpourri segment village of little things Let me let me hit you with this one and I mentioned it last week on the podcast Casper I Kinda Wanna I kinda WanNa dig into a little bit deeper. I'm becoming more and more convinced that there will never be another statue at quarterback in the top three of MVP voting. And maybe we you know a golden child will come along. Maybe peyton Manning's kid one day we'll show up and you know the one that was molly fed mashed potatoes or whatever it was Ashley Feeding Haley. Haley mashed potatoes. Maybe maybe NEO is out there. But I as you watch this next generation of quarterbacks quarterbacks it's really hard to imagine that there's going to be an NFL team that takes a big time chance on a statue of quarterback. Because how are they gonNA make it all the way through high school and college coach to get there. I'm GonNa take this conversation two ways and I'm going to tell you Monday night. There was a little event we had Damon Andrews Apple Cup wind just awesome even though the teams her six and five and not the PAC twelve north on the line but it was a great atmosphere and it was funny because the Monday night. Football game was on in the background at the Little Pre party Andrew Daymond or watching the marling good thing we played our. He played the same position as that. That's exactly I don't think drew bledsoe is the number one pick in next year's draft. Probably not he's not probably not no taken that no one was that he crushed back. Number two is one year ago we were talking about an NFL. That was now going to be about mahomes off often fifty point Monday night game. And if you can't throw the ball you can't play in this league and you from the pocket. Yes I'll give you. Don't just take these efficient yards like this game is giving you these yards. You gotta be throw pro team and you've got to do it that way. The throw teams have quarterbacks that can move like at some point the worm turned on this and people started looking at saying wait. Why am I taking like if you can have a quarterback that can do both? Wouldn't I prefer one point the MVP conversation and to build your team around was cam. Newton Colin Kaepernick Russell. So Wilson Greg Roman about seven years ago had this whole zone read deal in. This is the new wave of the NFL. Like you've gotta be able to run and capper upper nick and Newton and Russell and these guys are changing and rg three but the scheme. This I get it that schemes change. I totally understand. We're GONNA talk more about some changing schemes here in the minute we get to the ravens schemes change. I totally agree. And anytime you start thinking the game is only going to allow this scheme. I'm not saying the game is only going to have running quarterbacks because they're doing in read option running draws or any of that or that. Lamar Jackson is the future. That's ridiculous I don't think that I'm just saying if you're a statue at quarterback why a cool you can do that but how are you going to compete with all the guys who can do everything you can plus more. Yeah can you compete with the guys who can throw for just as many arts and be just is accurate have just as good a deep ball. See the game just as well as you want as you do but also can run an escape and throw on the run and run read option and run draws. There's not many of those guys sure. I'm pretty sure like every year we're getting at least one more I see in college. I think as people have opened up their eyes and minds lines to the idea of a huge different group of people playing quarterback in middle school and then high school and we're finally seeing the fruits of some of that open-mindedness now playing its way into the the pros. I think there's going to be more and more every year and that doesn't mean they're all GonNa be Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. Yup but I'm GonNa Guess that we are going to see more and more guys who can do it all rather other than guys who can only stand back there throw. Yeah I think I think there is a degree of fairness to that I would also add. They have one enormous advantage. And that's what drew in Damon said like you can't hit these dudes you know twenty years ago. You could punish them pyle drive them. You could hit him you. Could you know you try to knock them. I heard from Mike Pereira last week on the podcast. That's that's not going away. No it's not so. Tell me. Drew Bledsoe Peyton Manning Brock. You're how do you make it in today's NFL. Because you still can be an artist from the neck up in amazing ways and you but you have to be an artist you cannot be a blacksmith. BLACKSMITHS are done in today's NFL but if you are an artist that can get that bought Patrick Mahomes and run that much. No he does but he's not some tremendous athlete. He's a tremendous throw the football. Pretty good f you say good athlete. He's a pretty good athlete. Nowhere near Lamar J.. I'm not very bright. But he's not peyton manning. Sure he's not standing back there waiting to get hit not a Tom Brady. I mean he's not and I'm I'm not saying that those guys won't still exist in the NFL but when you get to those MVP races and you're saying okay. Who Do I want the guy who stood back there and through or the guy who also stood back there and through and ran for three hundred and sold in this in this upcoming draft? You've got Justin. Herbert you've got Jacob from you've got to tug of low off of a hip injury. Now you've got Joe Borough. Who's who would be the closest to a statue there right so on Herbert's statute to he is? He's a much better athletes who've though cam but he didn't really played played. I didn't do that so you know it's you kind of look at that list and say all right. We're is that or the year but the year before those guys will get drafted this year which somebody else will end up being better the same way. Lamar Jackson being better than the guys chosen ahead of him. They could be. I guess to my point. There's not a lot of Jackson's out there and just call in these college games in seeing. It's as you know there are there are tremendous athletes. There are some amazing throwers to find that blend. Lamar is is pretty unique. I'm just looking looking at the guys that are having success even in Buffalo. What Josh Josh Allen who stinks he can't throw what's he doing runs? Yep He's a better runner than he is a thrower then end buffalo's one eight and three or something like that so far this year. "brock" Discussed on Brock and Salk

"Buddy. This is off. We've not seen each other once since the last podcast. I mean in some of the previous weeks. We've sort of bumped into each other. Whatever now like I feel like I don't even know you and I knew it wouldn't take long oncoming months before we were essentially strangers and now that's that's where we are? We have to bond here on the air. But it's nice because we get to do it with howdy on my right and kyle now on my lap is it. Because it's wonderful we're family okay. Right we get everybody and I think the best version assault has always. I've been in this family environment right here versus one million percent the best version of salt when Kyle around is it ever. Yeah Yeah how about you yesterday. We got to but I was thinking about you yesterday. Kyle and I were walking to a meeting over a T. Mobile Park and as we got right by the Griffey statue in the rain. Mind you this pouring rain. At this point there was a tray of doughnuts that had been left outside now they had been left outside in Soda. which as you know not everyone in sewed necessarily has enough money or or food food or a home Sotos a lot of people that aren't that choosy around their full play donuts out? Nobody was always very doggy. Don't yes I mean they. They'd been rained rained on for quite some time and I found myself thinking. Yeah how did that no reason that the first thing that went through my mind like how would absolutely crush some of these doughnuts not so much as he would bring them to work and offer them to us. Hey guys I found some donuts by the king of Jenn. Dry dehumidifier a humidifier and stick them in the sports before you interesting because we got off the elevator. After our Iowa Minnesota thriller on Saturday and got off on the floor and producer for and Enjo- and and the six of us all on the same floor. We got off the elevator in right there off. The elevator on the table was a full bottle of Kenilworth Vodka. So Oh I'm sure I'm curious. What your opinion on that would you take it? Would you you go forward then or you like someone just left celebration. Yeah maybe maybe some sort of a trap where if I catch you go to hand comes out some sort of a halloween prank or something especially in Iowa. I don't know what they have going shoutout. Lastly we'll get to the SEAHAWKS. Casey master who tweeted US and said quick thought I listened to the brock consults show from day one. I listen through the Brock consult show version two and now I swear this podcast is even better. How is that even possible? Probably not I think it is. I would disagree. And I think it's because of the arte cohort thank you so because we're right back exactly where it all started case I would that make it better than the first. There's a magic in here in. This room has been updated since the I remember the first version like we were working on equipment from the fifties. And now we're all updated in real. We have six weeks so six week sprint to the finish here for the seahawks I would think I mean. Look they always screw this thing up but they've put themselves elves in position to be a playoff team for the last week of the year to not be important in terms of whether or not they make the playoffs but to be potentially actually very important in terms of what they are where they're playing who they're playing against whether they have a bye whether they win the division. I mean the the hope right is that that and final game of the season comes down to sea hawks niners for the for the for the win in the NFC west and what you want. Yes no question about it by my math. They've got to go minus one in eight to get to seventy nine right. So who thinks they're gonNA go seven and nine. I don't know seven to nine teams eight and two. Is I do in a lot of number crunching before we got in here. We gotta go minus one in eight to get to that seven and nine mark that someone called him last week. It's seven seventy nine thousand seven nineteen. I don't know I press your luck too far to say that I call them a seven in nineteen read the room. I don't know I don't know I'm trying I'm trying to remember. I didn't I did not call them or just say look. I said they were to kicks away from being what six and four yes which is true they are two final kicks away both makeable by the way both under forty five yards from being six and four they are. I mean that. That's not what they are. They are seven and one possession game which is hugely important question. The question is is that because because that's seahawks football and that's Russell Wilson which by the way I think it is. I think that's the answer to that question you. Yes you have the franchise quarterback that's what makes you elite that what makes yes you better. That's why you're eight and to not six and four because you have Russell Wilson the MVP of this league and everybody else has. God knows who write that. Isn't Philip rivers throwing picks exit. The Games they got Mitch trubisky getting benched at the end of games. You are eight and to not six and four. Could you ever also Wilson but the other part of it is is that the mariners a few years ago where you're going. No no they find ways to win and and the don't worry about the run differential not important and then all the end of the year turns out it was actually very important on one run games. Ames yeah and one run games. I'm going I'm going point differential little made in this case. I think the are this way because of Russell more than anything else I think they are. Russell Wilson on a seven and nine roster and Russell. Wilson is that good who's got a better point differential as we sit here today this way the rams or the seahawks talks I have no idea the rams have a better point differential. Yeah the rams have a better point differential speaking of one possession games and you have Russell Wilson. And they have jared Gov stiff seventy one possession games zero two eight points in their careers zero two eight points whereas Russell in his career preceding this year seven in one this year. Two Zero two points. Where do you think he is in his career? He's got about seven hundred winning. This is a scary number now. This is a pretty scary number if you're thinking like wow wow. This is just Russell Wilson you got Russell Russell Games is always been a seven hundred win. Still have many more than one possession games in that time. Do they twenty nine thirty one and one really really twenty nine thirty one and one that shocks me shocks me to in his career in Games decided by zero two eight points twenty nine third quarter taste never would have guessed in the postseason in those games. I mean you know that I just finished Iowa game last week. Kirk parents forty two percent of his games of two hundred and fifty fifty almost half of his games or one possession games and he's likewise he's just under five hundred in those one possession games but you know how to be bad teams. You know how to take advantage bad teams and win by more than zero two eight and that's been a big part of of Russell not giving the ball away right. He's the reason you know he doesn't have a gazillion of these is because he takes career of the ball. He knows how to not only finish in his in his numbers. As far as winning in overtime in the final drive in the fourth quarter is seconds. He's number one in the league over the last eight years. So he's got other things to counterbalance it. But if you're looking at the season and you're sitting there at eight and two and you're looking at what's ahead at Philly ten. AM This weekend. The Vikings Jeans on Monday night football at the La Rams Act Carolina. Arizona's San Francisco out of those six if eight of your Ten already have been one possession. Wouldn't you think five of those six sure. be or of those six or at least gonNA be. I mean what the worst team. You're GONNA play here. The rest of the Way Airlines Carol was Carolina Arizona. Those those are the two games Murray Callan. I'll take my chances with Carlisle. Carolina in the wheels. Coming defense much is not good. That's sixteen nothing lead over over the weekend. I was watching something like. Oh maybe there's going to be. No their defense is an atrocity Easter Fan. Yeah it's not good at all so yeah a AH Russell to me. Is that difference maker. I mean the way he's been playing. I don't know that their roster especially defensively has been worth more than seven and nine but it does lead to another question which is a much more positive question are is this the best set of weapons Russell's ever had. I know times it doesn't feel that way. 'cause when Tyler Lockett Exits Yuck wait a minute. You got a rookie and decay Mac. destler was hurt. You kinda look around and Hollister Maliki Turner. No it doesn't seemed Josh Gordon. Let's go but you but you I mean I guess there was a time. where he had golden tate Percy Harverson marshawn Lynch Doug Baldwin Baldwin? I mean that that's probably the best group of weapons he ever had but this group is a little bit different and at times a little bit freaky right he has not had anybody quite like decay Mecca among other than Jimmy. Graham who for whatever reason just never fit and he couldn't run. I mean Jimmy Jimmy Cox people out but he couldn't run in decay and run YESICA entirely. Walk it right now is playing as well. I'm not saying he's been better but he's been playing as well as dug in his prime golden tate and his prime so I mean he's he's sort of getting a lot of those elements and you're getting from Chris Carson other than the fumbles. You're getting a marshawn lynch like running and it's not as good I don't I don't hold them up to that pedestal. Because it's a pretty high pedestal marchand. His prime is one of the most fun by weekend. You Watch everybody else around the league and you don't see many cars no not even musique down in Dallas right but you just do not see many. You'll see many guys running with that level of intensity and ferocity. I mean. There's a really good running backs in the league right now. By the way the the it's funny funny considering how undervalued everybody says running back position. Is You watch. There's a lot more. Good running backs quarterbacks. Tell you that much you look around the league like do you want Saquon. Yeah I'd I still take sake one's pretty good there's a lot of those guys and even the Shady McCoy Jr and some of those players are still serviceable. WHAT'S KID MINNESOTA? He's pretty good. I'm Cook Alvin cooks good and there are a lot of pretty good running backs around eight and to gain so hold on wait. Where where does this weaponry ranked before you get your eight? Until where does this weaponry rank. Oh I think is elevating them to appoint be as good as anybody that he's ever had around him but I think that's what he does. I think because of him in the way that he is playing the confidence he's playing with the a system that he's playing in right now he's elevating those guys to just to do. We have remarkable level. We have to give credit to another person who has not received received much of it in this town so to say his name. We have to give some credit to shoddy. Yes I think we do. Yes first of all for not being there level which is which is a the biggest nice job shoddy. How great is it to not be? Devil played well done. We're all proud of you. You are you are being not Darryl bevill as well as anybody. Anybody and I just barely not Darab. Oh that's not even sure on that a little bit..
