Tua Tagovailoa vs. Belichick's Defense: A Challenge

"Get into the Dolphins. Now we have to start with to Greg. I watched him last week and I see a number of very good things from him, you know, the answer the anticipatory throws is great anticipation is accurate and he's really smart and you know football IQ is through the roof when you see him, he's diagnosing what the defense is doing and the first time around you might surprise him. It's very difficult to surprise in the second or third time around very smart guy doesn't have the strongest arm in the world, but he can move around in the pocket a little bit and he's got enough Armstrong. Had a downfield but I mostly pay attention to his accuracy his anticipation in his intelligence. I think that's what would separate too from some of the other younger quarterbacks that we've seen come into the league and so it's fascinating Greg this matchup. I remember we talked about the Justin Herbert matchup Belichick's record his resume against rookie quarterbacks or even just your quarterbacks first time in so we're going to have to who was very football Savvy and has a high football iQ going against Bill Belichick who of course has the Mind against rookie quarterbacks wage. What do you make of to his game in? What do you think the Patriots will try to do on Sunday to Rattle him. I'm looking at I thought you did a great job with your Scouting Report. I thought you know what I agreed on all those points, especially, you know, I think where he shows off to me is the football like you he he sometimes he will hang on to a play a little bit too long. I think that's probably a place. Where they've been working with him, he did that a couple of times against Kansas City, you know, but largely had a feel for what's going on. He knows how to get rid of the ball. I think Chan gailey's done a real nice job with him sort of slowly bringing him along and you know, yes, everybody's going to talk about Bill Belichick and his record against rookie quarterbacks, you know, but one thing you have to keep in my practice, you know, this is this is a rookie quarterback with Brian Flores, you know next to him who's so I assume Brian all week is showing him all Patriots film and say look, this is what they're going to do to you. This is this is what we would do to everybody. These are going to be the calls whatever you see don't trust your eyes before the snap. There's always going to be somebody dropping there's going to be they're going to be doing this song. I think that's going to be a huge asset for them. I think that Ted Karras at Center is going to be a huge asset for them cuz he knows how the Patriots, you know like to pressure cuz he's been here for so long. The Patriots know his weaknesses. Teddy's a pretty good pass protector. He struggles more in the Run game. But I do think you'll see the Patriots try to try to get him to move his feet side-to-side off a little bit slow. So I think you know targeting him with some t e stunts inside and things like that might generate some pressure. But yeah, I think I think that too is pretty good job to see if guys like DeVante Parker and get sick e who who, you know, we're beat up in the last game, you know, whether they'll be able to play because your talent talking about some really talented guys there. I mean God, I can't believe how far gesicki the tight end has come and I know Belichick basically called him a big wide receiver this week, which I think is accurate but he's damn good at what he does in a mash-up. Yeah and the one question and you know, we'll get into our picks and a little bit before we get this n'keal Harry thing you want to talk about and of course we still have the member question of the day on this pod. But you know the weapons right for Miami, we we talked about the weapons about the Patriots all the time. But when you look at the weapons of Miami, I think last week I saw something that too was down at one point in that game. He was down his top six receivers. So including Titan including tight end. So if you know if Grant is out if Parker is out if they're just you know off 60% if you know kasicki is out Myles Gaskin was on the covid-19 this last weekend, that's their guy who they've been running the football with what is it Ahmed salvano salvano, may I forget which way it goes his name, but he's the other running back on the roster. He's been dinged up. So this is a team if they're banged up. I don't know what they can do offensively. I mean, I like to a long shot, but the one thing that jumped out at me watching that Kansas City game and maybe it's just because Kansas City is so full of explosiveness and speed but the one thing that jumped out at me watching the Dolphins offense It's Not Dead. Dynamic like say they don't have explosion and DeVante Parker could be that guy at times but he's been banged up. He's got a hammy so I don't know if he's going to play but they lack if there's one thing they need to add immediately to that Miami offense to help to a is somebody who can be

"That. I forgot is instant my opinion change based on performance. I saw you as i saw. Andy and i was like this thing it and then i saw this for showing where my job and i was like. This could be okay. Doing nothing could be but remember we have to now realize sell the cowboys have a thunder and lightning in the backfield and the offseason. We can address the fact that you paid zeke and ninety plus million dollars to be both thunder and lightning. But we now realize that. Zeke is thunder and tony politics lightning over the last three weeks at a season. Seven point five yards per. Carry so now marcellus if you were going to tell me that between zeke and pollard. Were getting what we thought. We'd get from zeke with me. We're still getting a great running back. Yes we know to were still getting what we thought because serves the gave you one hundred three yards impressive but not impressive. Considering the zeke. We know but when you think about z. Cam paula gave one hundred sixty three yards. Now we've talked. Joe okay ceedee. Lamb ceedee lamb is set the cowboys rookie. Receiving record and still has six games left. Okay amari cooper through the same amount of weeks. I think he also is on par for cowboys receiving record not to be confused with rookie receiving record but cowboys receiving record so now. You're finally getting what you thought you were going to get from. Everybody plus stable. Smith gave you a sack leighton. Vander esch gave you twelve pack. I had to be reminded of. I had to see it and buy analee finally worth seeing what i thought we'd see a month ago so i'm sorry i was a month wrong or month too soon. We're seeing what i thought. We see a month ago but we are in fact finally seeing you and grabbed that analysts safety.

"Was that going to become an issue but his decision making was very very good on monday night. The decisions were not the type of head scratching decisions. That cost them a couple of games down the road these this past month or so right and and you know. He looked like the guy. And i know panthers fans are gonna hate this but he looked like the guy that i think. The panthers head hoped he would become throughout his career carolina on. And what do i mean by that. I mean that he is. He was throwing from the pocket. You know with accuracy. Of course see the. Panthers never got that can do now. Of course you throw from the pocket here and there but the accuracy issue was always a big problem here in carolina and and last night we saw him sitting in the pocket taking his time reading his reads going from one to three and hitting the open man in the pocket not not not running outside when he fell pressure. Not running away when he felt pressured or doing some crazy loop de loop dance on the move throw now. He stayed in the pocket through the game and one thing that is so important in the nfl. Have to adjust your game. You have to be able to make changes and increase your strengths while also decreasing in mitigating. Your weaknesses especially if you wanna play your thirties and even forties. Which can is getting near his thirties. And he has said that he wants to play into those thirties supposed to do that. You can't just constantly run the ball as a quarterback you're buying takes a beating when you're when you run the ball as a quarterback is specially especially the way can't runs the ball see can doesn't run the ball like lamar jackson cuyler. Murray do i like to call call. The more and cuyler figure scares there. So agile in and nifty with their feet and then their quickness. They'll they'll chew you out a second or they'll run by you in a second can is more of a running back. He is going to run over you. He's not gonna go around you. He's not going to spend by us not going to do a little dance and ju by with with his quickness no he is going to put his shoulder down and run over you he goes full steam ahead and used great at it that that's why he does it but that doesn't last long. You have to adapt. You have to adapt steve young. Did that steve mcnair who i loved as a qb by the way did that. Aaron rodgers still moves a little bit but not like he used to and he. You know you have to be able to operate from the pocket if you want to continue to play in this league deep in your thirties. And i know we're going into a more of a motion running quarterback duel option quarterback type league. And that's what it seems like it's trending towards but you still have to be able to step back and sit in the pocket and throw the ball and then step up and throw the ball you have to be able to adjust to that type of game because at some point all of those guys that you used to be faster than are now as fast as you if not faster than you and they hit you harder so this is exactly what we need is what we need to see more of from cam new in moving forward and i think for cam. It's about laying the foundation for next year whether he's in new england or somewhere else and that that's the big key here right because this is his chance for the remainder of the season to get people to say ned. This is one of the guys. We need to put into the top of the list to evaluate as we look at these quarterbacks and i get it they still technically have a chance to make the wildcard spot and all that especially league votes to expand its Expand the playoffs because of covid. Which as we talked about earlier they have decided to do that if if gains are canceled. That's a big. If there. But i just don't see that happening in terms of the patriots really being able to make the playoffs they would have to go on a serious run and came. They do of course but this team is not talented enough. And if you don't if you didn't notice that before you definitely noticed it last night. Even though the jets did play really well. They finally had their three best wide receivers healthy and you could tell that. Made a huge difference for joe flacco remember. Sam darnold was out with injury and joe flacco played well most of the night but still the patriots do not have enough talent offensively or defensively to do what they did last night to better teams and because of that and this might sound pretentious but cam is fighting for his career the rest of the season he needs to prove either to the patriots or another team that he can still play. I mean he is fighting to be a starter in the nfl. next year. whether that's in new england or somewhere else but just to be looked at that way again by nfl and the executives personnel and team members around this lee cam is going to have to prove some things throughout the last couple of weeks of the season and that first thing is pocket passing. Which has always been a question worked for cam. But i don't really care who you are. Whoever it is. And i mean we talk about lamar jackson all the time on this show and how at some point. You're going to play some defense that's going to be able to contain. You're running and a lot of people believe that teams have already been able to kind of find a way to do that to lamar or getting close to. I'm not at that point yet. But eventually in this league you're going to have to some throws within the general area the pocket to beat other teams and to be a perennial top to your quarterback that can play late into his thirties and be successful not just play but be successful. That's the key and that's what it comes down to with. Can't nuke and the announcers actually brought this up on the broadcast monday night and there were saying you know how cam was doing things early in the year where he was running the offense in doing things and all that but he didn't really understand the offense and see that totally makes sense because we always hear how complicated this patriots offenses and how hard it is to grasp right away and that this will take time to understand the packages of the different place and understand the different language within the offense and this takes us back to what we said over and over and over like a broken record all season teams with new coaches or new. Qb's are going to struggle in the beginning because they don't have the preseason or normal training camp to learn the offense so i totally understand and i think there was pulled here bribery and louis greasy and louis riddick. Talk about that on the broadcast monday night. Because that's exactly what we have been saying on this show and that was cool to hear and i agree completely and and by the way those guys do a great job. You know steve levy as well. It's it's steve. Levy louis riddick. Who's just so smart. He's going to get a gm job soon sooner here sooner than later here. One day at an insane with brian greasy. That's espn did a tremendous job putting that group together on the on the call. Love here in this. So that that's what they're saying. It makes sense. And i you know it's gonna take a long time to really start to get a grasp on that patriots offense. Usually they do that within the off season but again not only did kovin. Screw it up for for all the teams with new quarterback. new coaches. cam didn't come in until the end of the summer anyways until the end of the offseason anyways so he already was short on time. So that right. There was a huge disadvantage to go along with the already biggest disadvantage of kobe. And now it seems like he's starting to understand the language a little bit and he's starting to get over him having to him testing positive covid nineteen get back into game shape and all of that new played a great game but can he keep this up..

"We brought up Ferrari out out of the garage for the first time, and we didn't take it out of second gear. We wrote 25 MPH down the road because the dolphin dolphin defense Greenie had a 28 point Lee, you know 28 points in the first four turnovers to intercept two forced fumbles. Brian Flores, he knows he knows how to be. Milkshake We thought in the Super Bowl when the Patriots and the Rams play, he says, no, Some my Sean started based on so he was on top of star McVeigh, just like he wasn't a soup bowl a couple years back, so I really have to do much. We made a pretty pretty throws. His longest drive with 33 Yard Drive. He only had 93 are passing the entire office at 145. Yours total yours, Grady in a game 1 45 and one by 11 points. Because the defense of special teams were so dominant, so they weren't asked him to do a lot, And I think that's where you and you don't like the game of what this bad line 12 of 22 93 yards. That's not what Burroughs doing. That's not what Herbert's doing, and that's what he's been compared to. And Kyla Murray and the Sean Watch today and all these young quarterback out of playing well right now, so the numbers didn't bear it out. But Who did look a little overwhelmed. Maybe in the first couple drive that's that forced fumble his, you know, he has picked the clock of work a little faster. But as you got comfortable I was I was impressed with the iPad. Even watching and seeing that they were going to take him out of second year. Channing Crowder with me from Miami here. So what are you hearing from the people close to it. Do they expect him to be great? I have been. I've been sort of pounding the table, saying, this is a play off team. The bills the routine that could be caught. The Patriots look completely finished. The Dolphins have certainly a playoff caliber defense, and he plays well if he is special. If he is the guy that people were tanking for. I think they could win the division this year. And I think, putting him in the game. Actually, you know what people are saying is a positive and not a negative over Fitzpatrick. We know 50. Everybody loves 50 the fun guy fifties and ate and ate quarterbacks to five on a quarterback, and it's crazy, agreeing because he gave two of the team at 500. He was three and three with who would take over so To your point about Buffalo. I think there's a better chance to catch Buffalo at five and 24 and three with tour. It's even or even better, because this young man we know he's a better quarterback. We've watched him come back to the press miss against Georgia. We've watched greatness out of Tonga by lower and one game that he really wouldn't have to do a lot. I think that was, you know that that was an outlier. I believe the Arizona offense is gonna score there. They're very talented pilot. You know, a great runner and a dolphin had they have trouble stopping the run. So I believe Arizona's going to score and that's been 1/4 Brian Flores and chained daily toe. Put it onto his shoulders tour. Go prove that there is a rumor that we're that we're trying to out. We'll go proved us that you're the guy so we don't have to be concerned with the quarterback position for 15 years. Me personally. Dance your question, Greenie. I believe in two and I think you're going to. You're going to start seeing what we saw in Alabama. You're gonna start seeing the greatness that everybody expected out of him coming out. All right. Maybe it starts this Sunday. Cheney good to talk to you as always. Thanks for jumping in here. Anytime during appreciate Channing Crowder with me from Miami. Listen, I think that's a really That's one of the most interesting games of the weekend and the Dolphins could find themselves in the best situation of any team in the sport..

"We believe in developing players, and I think you guys heard me talk about it improvement of players on a daily basis. I will be the opposite of somebody ate 10 game. Audition. So I guess that's that's my thinking on that. Just so everybody's clear. Buy or sell you believe coach and it's not possible for to it to blow his future in Miami over the Dolphins next nine games, so it's I have two minds. I believe coach and I think he parts his words very quickly. Very carefully. That is that statement was directed his front office. So I'm going to sell that to a camel to me. What Brian Flores is saying is If it were Michael, my approach my philosophy. This is garbage. But clearly there's something to it because Brian Floor is the kind of guy that has and would have in this case if it were true come up and said no to do it. That's not what he said. Brian Floris doesn't make the decisions about who gets drafted the front office. Does the GM does he give us advice? And it really is. Front office coach relationship to front office goes relationship team to team How seriously that's taken. I mean, I've written about team when I was in Kansas City, where they didn't give the head coach a lot of saying who they brought him. So I think that's I think that's a and it's amazing, right. They hired the right guy and Brian Flores. He's done the right things. They've made some right moves. We don't know if they drive to the right guy. And the Dolphins are still gonna dolphin this thing up for really get out of the way. Just let your success happen. Imagine the GM is like you're such a good coach that I am going to force a quarterback on you that I think is the best one for your team, and I know better than you even though my whole point is that you're a great coach. I saw this at the end of Carl Peterson's tenure was a beloved GM until he wasn't in Kansas City. And I wrote a story about how basically his tenure was over and had sources say This is probably the last year and we put together the cancer. You start a special section on it where we had arrows going into his body, and he's bleeding on the fields. That that that was not my call. That was not a beloved moment. Bye bye. Carla is not happy. But his eagle took over. Right, like me. I'm the genius. Sometimes the smartest thing you could do. He's just recognized that what the situation needs from you is silence in humility. And that's clearly not happening all the time in America, and it's not happening right now in Miami. Again on that exact topic in Tampa Bay. Tom Brady talk Pat's again when he met with the media yesterday and assured them he takes no pleasure in seeing his old team struggled. We'll have a lot of relationships with a lot of teammates, so You know, I just I wish everybody the best all the time. I don't ever wish you know for anyone. Tio not performing their best and so forth. I certainly wish our team to play the best video game. I don't root for the team or plan on that particular Sunday. Yeah, yeah. Beyer cell that Brady is thoroughly enjoying every single Patriots lost this season. Don't do this, but you could buy. You'd push the buy button for the next three minutes of the show by on it wouldn't be enough to buy Bye bye that that lie tasted like a banquet..

The fan brian floors appears to be a fan of eminem and the movie eight mile floors undress steals the way immense character rabbit exposed the fraudulence of of his rap nemesis papa doc and if you're talking about brian floors did he. Are you convinced brian floor will be the first bella check disciple to be a success the first man genius hobie watch the ours are brian. No i know what you're saying next level right. No i'm not convinced as much as i like brian floors literally love this guy trying to lay some up just to play for him because of the way he is presenting himself and he was a tremendous d. coordinator pump the brakes. I had a lot of teammates that i liked their personality. I need to wait it. They carry themselves but when bullets alive is a whole different animal. He needs to go out there and win this next level as a head coach. I think that football culture and miami are too tough deals and so i i think as miami's always been a party city mhm at one it was cocaine capital at one time and but now with south beach and the enormous well that now the players have i. I think that hurts football in miami. I think that's why the u has struggled. There's just so much to do so much to offer and there's so so much temptation that i think that's one of the tougher cities to have consistent success and that's why i think so. Many guys are failing there and look and look. Miami's always always had his temptations but i think the temptations are now larger and the players have more access to income and enjoy those things and so i think the core i think he took a job ebina tough place yeah great point but what about new york l._a. Vegas is coming. I mean there's a lotta great programs. I think it's tough yeah but they post to you. You all to happen to you. I know this that I know not by us yet. Yeah. Yeah. Please silver just invented to all sorts spots Durkan. Dwayne Wade can be in there. There are no real rules, Raymond corner. How much of a Homer has Cody been on the subject of the new coach have any of those Bella check guys worked out like I know that Cody falls for the press conference every damn time. You could go into the annals and find some good Cam Cameron columns by Cody if you if he's just home horrific on the new coach, smell, they just Bill O'Brien. I mean it's worked out for ballot. Check every time. It goes plays. He beats them, you know, and they keep winning. It doesn't matter. If you lose if not this year he lost to both of that was on purpose then by Szott. Well, first of all, let's not condemn of the Brian floor is signing before he's even done anything. I mean, let's not celebrate either four he's done anything. He's earned a benefit of Dow hasn't others how he hasn't. Yes. He has how'd that Patricia defense move to Detroit with him to to because it didn't seem like they miss Patricia whole lot, right? Didn't seem in that Super Bowl like they miss Romeo. Cornell a whole lot, right? They don't miss those guys. Why didn't they because they had Brian floors because they've got Bill Belichick. They just stopped. The rams. I mean, they did I'm saying they did you stop the ramming last year. They gave up four plus yards. The Nick foles are they better because of floors are they better because Abella check will find out we will. And you've been saying that for twenty years and you've been wrong. That's fine. And I knew he was their linebackers coach I began to pay attention really in just the last couple of months when it seemed like he was going to be the new guy here had no clue. I don't think there's anybody here. And I think cody's lion. Did you know he's under and Dan? I did. Well, didn't they ask him something in Spanish at the press conference? He couldn't answer a Mondo. Saw Garo got all Matt. That was at the Super Bowl. Ted out as send it out as a news item. Right. Right. Brian floors this nut speak Spanish. "Interesting fellow that slamming of the door is very clearly Dan returning from what I believe is a pancake breakfast, Dan, we've been theorizing or we've been theorizing that this official jersey retirement for Chris Bosh is sort of a formal announcement that he is back in the good graces of the franchise. It might be actually here in official capacity. I've heard that he's going to have a role with the team that is going to be morning ish. But I have not confirmed it, and my guess is that they want to make some sort of announcement, but they take care of of their own people and that ended badly because their doctors were telling them at every turn there's no way you can do this and Chris Bosh refused to believe them and lets it kind of gets me thinking what what's changed here. And Chris has spoken about some of the class that happened thereafter. He hasn't many theorized that he hasn't spoken about all of them, which might be serious why he sort of stayed retired because he. Was very aggressively saying I'm not done and geared towards making a comeback, and that is dissipated. So I wonder if experiences in his life, maybe more medical challenges has made them come to realization that the Miami Heat were actually in the right here. Well, the fact that he never officially retired. But hasn't signed with anybody, and it's been a few years. Now pretty much tells you that that the medical team was correct? I understand it's a Tuesday against your Landau magic. But I am bummed in all of this. And it wasn't just the Heat's medical team. It was an assortment experts. It wasn't just the the heat. You know, you could accuse the heat of a medical team of bias. If you like if you think that sometimes trainers and medical staff get pressured by team into making team friendly decision. But it wasn't just team doctors. It was like eight different dockings. I wish that the Miami Heat. I in here in Billy out. Like, why didn't they space this out? Not so much on that it's happening in March. I'm kinda bummed that it's not planned around LeBron being able to make it because recently with he's. Jersey retirements it's really an opportunity to get back in the good graces of a of a superstar you p O'd whether it's Kevin Durant going Nicholson's or the Miami Heat allowing LeBron James or go to Genucel Gallup's, it would've been nice to start the healing even though that ball's already sort of been rolling. It would have been nice to have LeBron James in the building for that moment. But the Lakers are playing the Washington Wizards that night, and it would seem to be impossible, although LeBron makes his own rules. That's the exact first thing. I did when I saw the date is I went to see where the Lakers were going to be if they're going to be close enough for LeBron might make an appearance, but he's going to be in LA. So it's not going to happen. But it would have been a great moment if LeBron would say they were not land or whatever, obviously they wouldn't be in Orlando because they're playing Orlando. But if the three of them would have been together for the jersey retired that would have been so cool. Do you think anyone else we were discussing this before while you're eating breakfast? Do we do we think anyone else from that team is going to have their jersey retired 'cause Riley loves to retire jerseys? Do you think Ray Allen, perhaps maybe Batty? I mean has limbs going to have as well besides has them. That's that's an obvious one. Maybe allen. Badea not. That's really Chris had a great suggestion that the heat when he retires when he finally retires. They should retire Pat Riley suit about that hang a suit and the wrath. I mean, just put Mike Miller shoe up there. How about this? You take out the piece of wood on the court where where we're rail and hit the three from and the court never has that piece of wood anymore. It's just kind of like a Divet, actually. There were actually they were actually thinking about marking that spot for forevermore. But I think there were rules against that. I think they're like uniform court restriction rules that you're not supposed to do. I think I've got that. Right. Should rename it Allens corner. We could do better. I'm spitballing Jane..

"I don't think I think you do have to honor the rail and shot some point. I don't know if it's a more on the floor or some sort of sign it in the arena, you can't retire. Ray? Allen's number jelly, Gilmore good. Just because of that moment, man. I know the best Sean NBA history of he's the only one that's the only debate the big three Billy's. Right. Like definitely gonna do. Lebron has them they'll hang up Riley suit at some point. Is there pushback that he he's not deserving because I think he's far more deserving of it than Shaquille O'Neal was really. And he's actually I know you Don, this is going to be called the embodiment of he culture, but Chris Bosh stands for all the same things. Terms of sacrifice accepting reduced role. It's not easy. Hell you see the panic attacks at Kevin love had in a similar situation. Now, people are starting to realize being the guy that people can easily point to how I mean Chris Bosh had some games had zero rebounds in game in an NBA finals clinching game. He scored zero points while doing dirty work on the defensive end. So I think he's actually a perfect candidate to have his jersey retired. And it makes sense chronologically. I mean, he's out of the league. No, he's not I guess officially retired. But he's all but retired. Whereas LeBron and Dwayne and you're done us are still playing. So it would have been weird to do it in any other order than than Bosh. I yeah. But they had like has are not has. I'm sorry heart. Right away waited awhile Alonzo, Mourning shack waited years. I mean shack left with bad blood with the heat, right? It wasn't an immediate thing. That's why it's kind of like, you would think the face of all of this, obviously is Dwayne Wade. He put this together. I mean, you could argue away. I I would think I mean, it doesn't ultimately it doesn't matter. It just feels like, oh, we're going to do next month. Surprise, you know, I felt bad for Toronto. When the announcement was made because the whole thing was, oh, this is home. This is home his home. And it's like we played the majority of his career in Toronto. He was more productive. He had more games in Toronto. He took less a lesser role here, which has to do it. But I did feel bad for Toronto. Like, he's not acknowledging the Toronto existed. I think is actually sort of in line with the time line that Alonzo Mourning had in terms of date that he retired to the actual jersey retirement. Remember, it's been awhile since we've seen Chris Bosh out on a basketball court. The last time we saw him on a Pasco ball court. He was wearing a heat jersey. So it's hard for us to realize that it doesn't seem as like as much time. You have LeBron changing to to uniform since then so it doesn't seem the same Wayne. But it it sort of aligned with that Alonzo Mourning timeline am I only one Chris Bosh is my favorite he player ever. Really? Yeah. You're the only one I think you're Really? really. Yeah. Maybe three of the big three era. He was by far the most likeable likeable, but likable is different than your favorite. He everyone has to pick twain, wait. Thanks, brian. I said that during that time too. I always liked Bosch the bat. I think people would choose has lem. They would some would say Wade some would say has a somewhat say LeBron that wrong Bertrand Birdman was very popular. I there wasn't a single heat fan that had any sort of ill will or hatred or you've never frustrated you the way that Mario Chalmers did sure when he saw zero rebounds, you're like the F. But for the most part he was beloved for many of the things that Billy mentioned before the video bonds. He was the smile around a time run very hated team. He was the guy seemingly having the most fun with it. He won the opening press conference where he was speaking in Spanish trying to relate to the fans, and he sacrificed the most in terms of stats game. He sacrificed had to changes game. And then again, he stayed almost left, but he stayed. He also came in here one time in warm ice my jacket. I haven't watched it since. And there was a lot to like about Chris Bosh off the court a very intelligent thoughtful. Cerebral guy on athlete like in a lot of ways..

"I mean, I think I really like their chances. That year with because remember that was the first year. Lebron was in Cleveland that wasn't going well with David Blad Miami had a really balanced team. We never really truly got to see a totally locked in online. Chris Bosh with a totally locked in worked in Gowran dragging and Dwayne Wade with so little something in the tank and an ascending motivated Hassan Whiteside out, dammit, Hugh shall not be named. Really saw what that team would look like fully. It's shame especially that first year was a year to get Cleveland, and that would have been an epic series with LeBron having the weight of the world on his shoulders having to come back down here. I don't think he would have been able to handle that at that point in his career in the NBA has become the the super team the the the BFF's getting together what the heat had is a model in the big three era was what you needed. You. Don't want corresponds to be your first your best player. Maybe even your second best player. But man, if Chris Bosh is your third best player, then you have a championship contending team. Even if he's your second best player, you're a lot better off in the heat. All right now, what's the Chris Bosh moment is the rebound back out. The Ray our. That's it. There's Moment moments is Ray, Ray, Allen's. Allen's moment, the rebound. The the rebates. It doesn't happen without Chris Bosh is moments this. Yeah. You don't think it's a block on Danny green, nausea this? It's just every moment when he would get fired up and like flex his arms with his mouth wide open moments. Be after the games. Yeah. Can I ask the Sears question? Why rush this this seems rushed where they're like? Oh, we're doing this in a month. Like, you would think I guess I Landau on a Tuesday that should tell you something. Yeah. But I mean, do you. What's the rush? He's not gonna come back and play you can do this year or two from now. I mean, I was listening to the morning show. And they were saying well next year, they'll probably do this with weight, and maybe has them. So you don't want to do three in the same year. But what's the rush to retire? Bosch is number before. Because look now that they're retiring Bosch is number, you know, for certainty they're going to retire lebrons number which was something that people were talking about which was kind of ridiculous. Are they going to do it or not now that Bosh numbers getting retired? It's for sure the LeBron's number. We'll get retired at some point. So why is it that Chris Bosh is the first one that you're doing this to why not wait a year? Let twain Wade have his moment. And then you know, you can reconcile with Chris Bosh? I guess is maybe part of him coming back. You're saying spread these out. So yeah, go wait first and then has lung and then get to Bosch and the other guys. Meanwhile, chompers thinks he should be the first. He does. I mean, there's no question about it. I'm with you maybe space about a little bit, right? There's no there's no rush to to get to Chris Bosh. Your it seems like this might have been and obviously, I don't know this. But it seems like this might have been part of his reconciliation with the heat. I mean, I know that he a couple of weeks ago was helping coach practice. He's been a more games. And this seems like maybe it was just part of the deal. Like, hey, you know, what I'll be part of the organization you retirement number. But I just feel like maybe more of a month build up for it is more deserving for him. Like you could announce it before the season two years from now. And then that's something that fans will look forward to throughout the season. I'm in on that theory. But I think fans are going to look forward to regardless. I it's I waiting for the sake of waiting. I'm cool just a month thing. But I I'm in on the theory that I think he's working his way back into the organization in an official capacity. And this is sort of the formal announcement that that's going to happen who else from those teams gets their jersey retired. Just Ray Allen. No. But you do have to on Adia. I think..

"And then they would see Jay Cutler Matt Moore, and then they would call Ryan tannehill again. Okay. Enough of that Ryan tan. Heels clearly the better option here. But then two games later. They'd call for the pack of again. Right. Exactly. Yeah. Signing Cutler was the best thing that could have ever happened to tannehill because it made him look very good by comparison. But you're right. When your fan base is chanting Matt Moore's name, your time is up. I think that what I'm gonna remember ten to help for is that he has thumbs. They'll look like big toes. No, his wife's car. Yeah. Yeah. The rental day offer thumbs though, it looks like big toes donlevatar. All right. We're going to see whether these any of these here can crack Chuck Norris's top ten your favorite involves the Toronto source. Rex you wanna do yours? Stugatz. Yeah. That. Chuck Norris was tracing the Toronto sores wrecks. The Rex was not chasing the Jeep. This is our show with stugotz on the ticket. So other big news locally outside of the Bryant. Flora's news is that Chris Bosh is going to have his jersey retired by the Miami Heat on March twenty six which is an Orlando Magic game on Tuesday. So I imagine they're going to get some sort of bump in the ticket sales. It's really cool to see the Miami Heat and Chris Bosh sorta formerly even though sort of behind the scenes this relationship had been improving he'd seen Chris around at games lately, getting warm receptions from both the organization, and obviously the fans this is now an official message to the world that they are in each other's good graces again, and it's great to see. Yeah. I I think it's a well-deserved honor of of seeing a little bit of criticism on social media that he's undeserving retire number not much, but a little I think he is deserving. He played six years. Here of part of the four NBA finals and the two championships eighteen point scoring average fifth all-time in the franchise and keep in mind, you don't penalize a guy because of a medical situation, and he would still be playing for the heat in his ninth season at age thirty four this year and still fit very well. And what the NBA has become. So I think he had a great career. And as important as that you remember he he stuck with the club. When when he stayed win lebaron left for a raise. Yeah. Oh, of course, he almost left, but he stay. He ain't blamed for free. But he did stick with the club when LeBron left and when Riley was scrambling to to sign it..

"So yeah. That those things hit the right notes as well. He's going to be judged on on winning. And and I think his hiring those another reason why I'm not buying this tanking thing. I'm not buying that. They're intentionally gonna try to go three and thirteen to get a high pick in twenty twenty. It's a dangerous strategy. And and I don't think it it isn't guaranteed to work by any means. And I'd be very surprised if they weren't a competitive team this coming season, but in his comments he sort of admitted that there would be sort of growing pains early on. And that is the reported strategy of this franchise and probably why they've decided to part ways with Ryan tannehill. Who's too good for tanking team? And not good enough for you to take that next step. Yeah. His pictures have been removed from the the facility. How will you remember Ryan tannehill down here in this market because it's a bit of a complicated legacy. I think when he comes back if he ever returns, I think you'll. Get applause, generally favorable opinion. But how do you see that going? I think he would get polite applause. You know, he he was very good off the field. He represented the team. Very well. I think his legacy is is being the pretty good quarterback. Wasn't good enough. You know, he had seven years down here. That's a long time. That's more than just a an experiment. He had seven years never made a Pro Bowl. You know, never was among the the league leaders in anything, you know, not a bad quarterback. But just not going to take, you know, the the good quarterbacks lift the players around them Tanta hills a quarterback who needed to be on a very good team that lifted him and they need better than that. At that position. It's rare when you draft the quarterback that high, and you can't just say he's a bust or a or a hit on that. I'm sorry. I Greg Cody is getting makeup right now as we're on the air. Hi, we're on the air. It's very. Is that a I in complete job you have like. To make that up. So it's really rare. When you have a quarterback that you kinda hit on at that point. But he never actually truly became the franchise quarterback. You hope you were getting, but you can't point and call it a bust that sickly best since burrito. Are arguably Murphy. He only Pennington I think. P but he had such a short time there. Who cares? It's like a participation award. Like, you're the best of the bad quarterbacks that you've had since the great quarterbacks insurance is that make I think at at his peak, though, Pennington pretty easily the second of the best quarterback that this franchise has had post Marino's just way too short of a time period. Well, the thing about Santa hill, though, he was a top ten draft pick a lot was expected from him. He was expected to be better than he turned out. And because he was an inexperienced quarterback in college played a lot of wide receiver. You're sorta gave him a honeymoon. You waited a season or two long honeymoon. Yeah. And then maybe into his third year you began to go. All right, step it up ten a hill. And he just really never did. And then there became the injury problems which were caused him to miss. I think twenty of his last twenty five games with the team. So it it's just time to move on. It was funny because fans would get so frustrated with him at a point that they would call for the backup or call for change..

"Like when he's with the players, then when he's in front of the media, which I'm assuming is the ballot. Check way the patriots way where you know, you come in front of the media, and you kind of shut down, and you just give them not even a line. He didn't even have I didn't feel. That he had a line yesterday. There was like, wow. This is the guy like this is it, but his players are successful. And they play for him. So you would assume he has a good job connecting with them. They just don't he doesn't wanna show it. You know, you didn't have a single line the line that he only needed was thirteen to three in the Super Bowl against one of the best offenses in the NFL say, you're right. He didn't say anything to us. He didn't say anything to the media for public consumption that that was a standout line that made you go. All right that was rally around this. But I think he's going to be able to do that in the locker room. I think he's going to relate to players in a way that a lot of coaches haven't Adam gaze at the end was not a very popular coach a lot of players hated Joe Philbin. This guy, I think he's young. He's thirty seven. He's played in the league. I think he's going to relate to the locker room. And and have a rallying affect a team. I affect that that some of the other coaches haven't had again, that's just supposition on my part at this point. But it it's part of the reason why. I feel good about the higher. I thought that his daughter won the press conference was it is a doorbell impression as it was on TV. It was great. I was like just talking like, and he just kept being like, oh, that's my daughter. Yeah. No. It was great. I devoted a paragraph in my column to that. It's like, you know, paragraph. Yeah, she just turned two, and she's, you know, being cradled by her mother, and she's babbling softly like two year olds do and the the mom is trying to push her, and you know, showing her books and things to distract her. And she's just going on and on. And finally dad up there had to grin and say what he said, it was cute. You know, one of his sons came in in a number one dolphin jersey. I mean, the, you know, they're they're a nice little family. And I it's just it's a good feeling. I I think it's a this is the second most important higher. The most important one is going to be whatever quarterback they give their future too. But but this was an important higher yesterday. And I think they did it right? It's also kind of cool just seeing understanding what Stephen Ross stands for with the initiatives the rise initiative. That he instituted now you have a minority head coach a minority general manager there. Rumors swirling, Jim Caldwell will be a part of this staff running the offense, which is something to get excited for because you have one of the more desired defensive of mines in the league. And Jim Caldwell interviewed for several head coaching jobs. One thing that you can say about him is that he knows how to run an offense bringing that guy into the SAF is is a is a great hire independent of anything. But be this franchise. It's actually in a time where not a lot of these jobs are going to minority candidates. And it seems as though all the white guy standing next to Sean McVeigh are getting opportunities. It's cool for Stephen Roz to implement with his own franchise. Some of the core values at he has and believes in. I I agree with that. And I would also note particularly given the the Miami market that he also becomes the only the second Hispanic coach other than Ron Rivera in the NFL he's of Honduran heritage in. He was asked about they said that makes. Me very honored to to be an Hispanic head coach..

"Spotify is saying you can listen to the Dan lebatardshow. He. We're one of a few shows that they're doing this. It's very cool. And they came up with a really cool marketing slogan for our show big stats loud. Hat's what does that? It's I think it's something that you should get off says with bake stats blown hats. Yes. And then it ends that way. Yeah. I don't like things stats loud. Hat's. What does that's not our show? Well, the loud hats are still God's big fats. Yes, go that's so much better. Why are we not doing that with Spotify that loud hats? And then what do we do advantages? Go to commercial stared each other awkwardly, and then the segment makes that sake fats. This is our show with stugotz on the ticket. All right. So we just did a full segment breaking down the Brian Florez press conference, and we failed to talk to a man that was there yesterday. So set the scene forest. Greg, Cody, oh, I Oh, thought. I thought you meant ROY were you there, ROY? No, I was not there. Oh, okay. 'cause usually on that beat. Yeah. Roy is out in the field, like a working journalist. I see him all over the place. Fantastic. I was there yesterday. The the crowd was great. Even Stephen Ross remarked. The greasy and says is this is where I'm sitting in his his placard that says Dan Marino's right on the back of the chair. And I'm like, well, unless you've changed your name, Dan before you continue what is Dan Marino's role with this franchise. It seems a little ambiguous. And there were reports at his role would get a little larger with teams in terms of football operations when gas got blown out and tanenbaum got sort of reassigned. Right. So do you know what this mysterious role? Dan Marino has with the organization is I don't know what his title is per se just to be damn arena. Well, essentially, he Dan Marino is a whatever you need from me embassador for the team. He will you know, he will counsel David fails the the quarterback he will appear at a at an event like yesterday to welcome. The new guy. He's he's the the face of the franchises better days. And continues to have a vital role. I mean, he's you see him in dolphin videos that they put on on social media. I mean, he's still very prominent. They are in. It's smart for them to do it. They are utilizing their their past including Dan Marino to remind people. Hey, we've had better days keep the faith. We're gonna get there again. So is Brian floor is a man to get them there. Again, you know, what nobody knows. But I think so I think he's a great hire. And I know that the only criticism of hurt is is that the Bella check coaching tree. Hasn't borne much fruit floors is the ninth protege Abella j bell checks to be a NFL head coach and the other eight have had very spotty success. Although the jury's out on on Bill O'Brien. "Like, he's not getting thirty million a year. He's like what like nineteen twenty. What do you want them to do? I just want. I just I would keep channel hill until you get something better. Keep them. What are you gonna cut him for? He's he's keeping you away from getting like top. I don't think that's true. I think that injury games. Get a tie that. It's more injuries on your strategy is maybe keep them here, and he'll probably get hurt. And then you can get the hypic. Yeah. Like just like, I just don't understand that. Let's just cut him. Then Brock Osweiler bear quarterback. And then we'll be terrible. And we might get to and into a might be bad. Like all a crapshoot regardless you might as well keep the better player. I mean, we kinda need to see who's playing that position this next year to see what the true plan is. But this kind of on the surface. It seems like a rational adult break-up Ryan tannehill kind of quarterback that everything needs to be going right for him to be most effective. The protection needs to be good. He needs speed on the outside. He needs guys. Get separation sort of make up for his inaccuracy on the deep ball. Right. He's not going to get that here. He had some speed with fast Albert engine, Kim grant. And the injury started piling up injury started piling up on him to the offensive line got more and more depleted and not. So surprisingly, his performance sort of started going down. He was. Performing pretty well when everything was healthy and Anam gays had his full or Senal of weapons weapons in air quotes. I'd like to see the the offense we had at the start of last season with this Brian Flora's defense like let me see what that looks like that could be better than what we were last year could not saying the ten who's going to get us at Super Bowl. I'm just saying if the option is let's just cut them keep Brock Osweiler and hope that we get to and hope that to his good. That's not like a sure thing is your franchise quarterback. Probably not like he's not like why not cut KEB eight and try to find one because I don't see there's a better option. I think the argument is there isn't a better option this year. What what are what are we going for this year? If you remind me dolphin fan. Are you just going for bad or you going for a lateral move at the position just a cheaper Ryan tannehill? Because they'd be paying Ryan tannehill a lot of money. So if the goal is will try to match the output from Ryan tannehill, but just what the cheaper option, so we can spread that money around over the rest of the Rosser. Then I'm with it. But if it's just Bri Brock Osweiler. And hey, we're just going to be crappy next year. Like I said as a Browns fan I've been down that road. A lot easier said than done you don't wanna go through that a morning you the same way that gods warned you for betting against the patriots. I'm warning you you think it's a great idea.

"Worst possible strategy by this culture, they need to abandon he culture. I saw that as a take somewhere on social. Yeah, I'm with right buys as so I've kind of been going on a roller coaster with Brian floor as like just looking at him on the sideline when they would show like when the dot one on when I saw on ESPN dolphins are going to hire Brian floors. They'd show clips of them on the sidelines. This guy looks like a head coach he can fill out that dry. So I was like I was up here. And then I came down a little bit. When I heard the press conference because you know, I it just left me a little underwhelmed. Well, you're not going to give good press conference. If you come from the Belichick term, there isn't a single good press conference guy in that ballot. Check. He's really I saw his pre Super Bowl interviews. And I thought he could command room. You don't think that guy gives off leader? He certainly looks like later I'll follow that. Right. He's just I don't know. He just didn't dominate the press conference, and then but then the performance and the Super Bowl shutting down that unit that brought me back. So like, I'm back and forth with them. I can't really get a feel for me as defense is stopped two of the best offenses in NFL history to a large degree, and that's crazy because it's defense wasn't really something that we pointed out and said look at all the good players on that defense. This was that they were doing schematically Dan Las pointed out yesterday on get up that they were doing different things and that's Super Bowl than they had showed all year long, and obviously was affective Sean McVay tipping his hat to Bill bell. Check in the patriots coaching staff saying he thoroughly got outcoached. I mean, he joined the patriots staff in oh four it took him a while to climb the ranks. I know he's done all kinds of things. He was a specialist. The special teams assistant. He was an offensive assistant. He's jumped from job to job. That's what I mean. Coach both sides of the ball. Yeah. That's what I mean. Like, it's not just like it's not like he got with the patriots couple years ago. And he turned this defense around. He's been on the staff forever. But what you're saying right now, actually, I think he's rounded. He's coached everything. He's coached offense defense special teams are back multifaceted coach pro scouts. He's not going to ignore the offensive side of the ball. I am a little concerned as to what the strategy is for this upcoming season. Because there were reports out there that they're just going to skip this year and try to get to next year. You have the reports of Ryan tannehill that the decision has been made that he's not coming back and his pictures are no longer at the team facility which would be a bit of a red flag. If you're Ryan tannehill that's kind of annoying the whole Ryan tannehill thing. Like when he when the offense line was healthy when he had healthy receivers. He's a starting quarterback. And it's like I'm not saying he's stopped ten fifteen. He might be in the lower half. But he is a starter. And you're just going to get rid of them to be awful when you don't even. To get to when you don't even know if you get to whether you're getting a sure thing like I just feel like we're putting on top thirty two quarterback. It's a guy like he's like Adam gates, if we get rid of Ryan tannehill someone's going to get him to be the starter right away. I fancy the Jaguars chances with Ryan tannehill quarterback. Yeah. But if you wanna get better, I mean, he's not doing enough to take you to the next level rate. So if you're going to tank, then what you need to have them around. He'll be good enough to keep you away from getting a good pick. Hackers took Aaron Rodgers like with the twentieth. Pick like this is a whole crap shoot with these quarterbacks. And this drafting you don't know you're gonna hit if you take a quarterback. I so you just keep you keep Ryan tannehill. He's good. You're not paying him top level money. He's paid about what he is..

"In Anthony Davis. I think. Gives you a better shot because every time you roll ball out there. You have the best who players on the court. Yeah. But but they will be able to fill out having really good team going into next year. And don't forget man when LeBron I got to L A, and this was only like seven months ago, six seven months on the brunt. I got there. He was very specific about he doesn't expect to win right now right away. So if we go just just as first year in L A without them being a championship caliber team. And then we go into this all season, and they already have Anthony Davis next. Lebron the probably had a schedule. What's better team the current Lakers roster or LeBron Anthony Davis and Mike Ryan me za`z starting five? The corden roster. That's such a bad starting five you just listed me. I got some length. I can get out there and defend I know starting five Chris Cody can knock if you get to the line. You'll knock down fifty percent. You got billion ROY coming off the bench such a bad bench. Are you excited about Brian floors because I'm indifferent? When it comes to the the Miami Dolphins. But you can't ask for better performance from a unit that he's in charge of then what we just saw in the Super Bowl. So I think anybody that was kind of lukewarm on Brian Florez who's in charge of the defense for the patriots for those who don't know is now your head coach of the Miami Dolphins. How can you not have talked yourself into getting super excited for this guy? After watching the performance his defense put actually over the last two games because at first half against Kansas City that defense was tremendous really angle back to the charger game to you could you could throw that in there as well. I mean, incredibly impressive performances. His unit's. Yup. But you know, you got that thing called being a Miami dolphin and it works against you. And now he is a Miami dolphin. And until it winds up until it happens. I'm I'm showing mode man with the dolphins. I don't care what I don't care Belcher came out here and said, actually, I haven't touched the defense in in years. Like, this is literally all Brian Flora's. It wouldn't matter to me like come out here and do it man, not a single one of these Belcher coaches vet any type of success. I mean, literally, none of them. None of them have any type of success. So I wind up being wrong on it's a hope. Bryant florins black Brian floors ends up being the guy who breaks this string. But right now, like the facts are on my side on that one. None of these guys from that Belcher coaching tree amount to anything. All right says you gotta go. So thank you for sale by I just wanted. I just wanted to hold them accountable for what he was saying about that run that the heat were supposed to go on. And now we're three games under five hundred and we're still gonna make the playoffs in this crap conference..

"You might remember fans of the local hour might remember Jonathan's as low joined us, but a week and a half ago and told us that the Miami he was about to go on a run of winning a bunch of games because we're playing a bunch of bad teams and they've gone on a run. All right. But it's been a rather crappy run so Jonathan's as low explain yourself and what's going on with this team. Well, I thought they were gonna I said they need to go on a four game win streak here. And what I meant was they need to intuitive four which they did. So. So you know, it was up by a couple of games. Okay. That's what you meant. Okay. I just wanted to make sure I was clear on that four. We're not going to see some of these players after this deadline, right? Come back home, and where that same uniform, everyone sort of theorizing that a lot of the players on this team right now won't be here after the deadline. I find that hard people theorising that because I I mean, I my guess is that we have the same team on Friday that we did on Thursday. We're gonna have this team forever. The so this is so disheartening. This is not good enough. It's evident to everybody. Are they just going to tread water here for four years or eternity with this roster? Well, it's not for years. I mean in a year from now, they legitimately will have some flex like this trade deadline twenty twenty the heat will be able to make significant moves if they want because these deals will then be going into expiring years. You know, it won't be as bad that we one year left on some of these deals. There'll be no years left on the other deal. So like a year from now, I think they'd be able to get in some of these conversations. But I I don't see I don't see any way out of it right now. I really don't it seems wrong. It seems so long ago where we were always included perennially in the list of James that the whale would sign a long term Davis list yesterday. This was a harsh dose of reality for me and other members of heat nation. Walk ahead of us Milwaukee. I know he's from Chicago. And that's like ninety minutes away. It's. So and there's more Milwaukee as best record in the NBA. This is pretty good too that that's that's a good tandem this Anthony Davis. But we're not on the list, which was hard to swallow. And it seems as though Jimmy Butler list either though, don't forget that. And apparently it ended up working out, by the way, make sure you might make sure you credit five reasons they had that one. Yeah. Shut up to five reasons we weren't on the listen, and we were on the list, and maybe we'll find a way on the list because Anthony Davis really wants to play next to Justice Winslow at the same thing plants Hassan. Oh, yeah. Well, we have to trade we have to trade probably his son and Justice Winslow to get Anthony Davis. How does this go to work because it seems as though it seems as always going to the Lakers, and I know they'll get a bunch of buyout guys. Obviously, they have Tyson Chandler, but I'm trying to figure out what their teams actually gonna look like if they made the Lakers winning this year. It's about the Lakers trying to start to win next season as opposed to waiting for him to be a free agent the year after that like you you give away all of your debt, you're not winning with just LeBron James and Anthony Davis and nobody else, but you're just not okay. You can have the two best players, and you have to have someone else. Okay. And they're not gonna win anything this year. They get rid of all of those guys, but they'll have all the cap space. I assume okay going into this summer, you could sign another guy. They'll. Well at the roster with other good pieces, and you have a whole training camp and preseason to put that thing together..

Miami Dolphins zeroing in on Brian Flores

"The story broke yesterday. That the Miami Dolphins job, which is the last vacancy, right? That the insider to get the job was New England's defacto defensive coordinator, Brian Flores, now there've been a lot of talk about this Dallas assistant coach. What's his name, Richard Richards, who's African American of being in line to get the Miami job? So when it was announced Brian Flora's apparently is going to get the job Clarence hill who covers the Cowboys for over twenty years said the richer got screwed over. And apparently, the NFL is now over when it comes to hiring, a black coaches even added the line does Colin Kaepernick cab job. Well, immediately clear and sills tweet was met by people saying, do, you know, Brian floors is an after many people posted a photo of Brian floors. And by the way, it's a great story floor as you grow up in the projects in New York. It's been with the patriots organization started as a scout wral obviously elevated to defensive coordinator Clarence dill finally responded by. Saying my bad on Bryant Flora's. It's been a bad day. All ran a lost my driver's license on my company credit card. I'm checking into my LAX hotel and going to bed. That's a good idea Clarence because again race baiting in the NFL. I don't know is productive. But there are going to be a lot of questions. No question Kerry about a season, which five African American head coaches were fired and maybe not even official about floors right now. Right. One will be hired. What are what are your thoughts right now about the current state of the Rooney rule is it necessary and just the general view of who should be hired who's should be in line for these NFL head coaching job? Well, the Rooney Rooney the Rooney deal is I guess it's it's necessary. I think we have to have equal opportunity and have people give people of color have a chance to get a job. I mean, I think that's absolutely necessary. But I also think that situations like this. This sets it back. Right. You have a guy that's popping off about a situation that he really doesn't know you have to actually research stuff, you have to actually get to the bottom of what's going on before you actually tweeted out somebody who's in his position who's been there for twenty years twenty year doing NFL for a long time. It's not know that Brian. Patriots. I didn't know who he was. That's that's pretty sad on his part. But yes, the rule is necessary. But I also think the necessary they most qualified guys to get the job also believe in that as well. I don't think you just give somebody a position because of color or race or gender or whatever the case might be. I think the most qualified person gets the job. But yes, Rooney rule is necessary. Well, I think the Arizona situations. What really started a lot of people you hire Steve walks in a situation where you're bringing in a rookie quarterback. And it doesn't work. It's a disaster. They go three and thirteen coming off an eight eight season, right. And they fire him. He's not the first guy that's been a one and done guy s p Carol. He was a one and done guy with the New York Jets. So a lot of people have been one and done guys. But because he's African American, and then you go out and hire cliff Kingsbury, right? Who had a losing record at Texas Tech who has no track record of being a winning head coach that's worthy the alarm bells. Are going off. Absolutely. Yeah. You can't like like, I just said you have to hire qualified people do to do these jobs. This is the business where it's all about winning. It's about putting the product on the field and that product has to win. So if you're bringing a guy like Kingsbury a guy who you just said lost in college got fire thirty five and forty. Yeah. He's he's not he's not a winner. Bye. Bye. Bye. Winning standards. He's not that guy yesterday to bring a guy like that coach, Patrick Mahomes coast, Patrick Mahomes, but anybody goes in record, right? So for him to come in there right after that fire, and that's just not a good look for Arizona. Yeah. The one and done doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I mean. Yeah. Ended up having to pay the guy off. Anyway, I think that one season for any coach really isn't very fair. We're in the Geico Fox Sports radio studios. We talked a lot about games today. There's a couple of charger guys out here that are really anxious about tomorrow.
