"Fancy turnaround ago. A Brady so we just want a cup. What do you got for us? What you got for his Brady? I mean, okay, And it was pretty good. You know, I was a pretty good first half yesterday. But you know, we were. There were the Champion city now, So Ah, Let's see you pick up for us here because we expect to see you hoist that Lombardi trophy go from lightning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers going to do it all in a couple of months. We'll you know, because all those folks that after week one when the Buccaneers lost and jumped ship and we're doing everything they could to berate Tom Brady and company. Suddenly you beat up a banged up Denver team and everybody's on board will happen here. But congratulations to the lightning. I know my folks were pretty excited there outside of Tampa in there and clear water. Folks paying attention to that to the res and Well, obviously Brady and company but a pretty big deal. Congratulations to the NHL for being able to pull off the bubble in Canada and look, it took a lot of thinking did a lot of guts, given the fact that you don't exactly have a glut of Canadian teams to decide to do things up there, right. It's kind of kind of a big deal. We're a town of winners. Tom Brady. We're a town of way. We don't tolerate losers anymore. I might make a shirt to that effect. Lightning raise next. How about you, Tommy? Look, everything is OK with with with the Buccaneers. Now it's not there. They're getting things going. This is going to be the best year for the bucks in the Tom Brady experiment, and they're starting to pick things up a little bit, all right? They lose. They know they're two in one right now, and they don't look like they're having a lot of problems. Offensively. It looks like you know, Rob Gronkowski, not retiring and week eight. Looks like to be the biggest problem they have. But even without missing some pieces, they're going to be just fine. And they're starting to be fun. Week. One overreaction looking Tampa Bay. Looks like they're going to be just fine. I mean, maybe not. Stanley Cup winning, you know, but I think they're going to be just yet. But why did I come in that Monday, yelling about everybody's mad and Brady? Whatever is like, how about looking over Drew Brees? And now what's the national story raises done? Get zero credit for anything. Drew Brees. His arm is now you know, we can't throw the ball is Farwell. Really? Look, this is why you've looked to their show early. We talk about things like weeks ahead of time. Way had the bread. We talked about the Drew Brees thing, and like mention it 2.5 weeks ago. We just We're ahead of the curve. It's al Coast. Eso. Meanwhile, speaking of the NFL Kansas City looks like they're going to be escaping this game. I would say escaping because they dominated for the most part, but Baltimore did come back to make this a one score game in the fourth quarter. But the Chiefs have the football three minutes ago. They have a two touchdown lead on the Ravens, 34 to 20. Patrick Holmes, now up to 380 yards and four touchdowns. It is a huge, huge night from he also has 26 yards on the ground. He is run for a score as well. But you're missing the extra point. Hence the 30 for anybody's like, Oh, but he's got a couple of you. Look, No, no, no, He doesn't miss an extra point. Any mustard field goal? Yeah, half one that you could have argued. Drifted over that. You know, one of those. It was too high is too high. Too high, too high. Well, yeah, We also had the touchdown. Tio Eric Fisher. So we've got to be excited by that. Look, He made a great catch, too, Because that wasn't that was one of the worst balls Mom's throwing all night. Oh, that was that was Jumbo Elliott Monday night. Miracle against the Dolphins. Catching the ball coming down was so everybody looking Geoff Schwartz are body. Ah. Was like, so I there's another lineman there. That probably could use 1 kg asking for a friend. Yeah, Mitchell will get a call at some point, but like they let the Ravens start creeping back into this game. I held him on 1/4 4th down play in the Enzo where they got so cocky. The defensive backs were calling for offensive passenger affairs like you got the ball up there. Just be quiet. Eso. We'll see if they can run it out. I know people are agents Lee looking for some ground game from Edwards Hilaire here. In the final minute. Ah, couple minutes here, Tio put them over for their fantasy contests. So good luck with that he was looking at having a really big game. He's got 125 total yards get 55 yards on the ground. He's caught five passes for 70 yards. So hey has been took him in the first round of their fantasy draft now are breaking their arms patting themselves on the back going CIA got can't said. He's running back. I've got to be doing pretty good. Eso again. We'll have more on this coming up a little bit. We got Jason Locke and for stopping by CBS Sports NFL insider. So Mohr on this game that again still has about three minutes left to go on a chief's lead the Ravens by a couple of touchdowns. Meanwhile, something that I thought and look when I'm wrong about something. I'll tell you. I vividly remember last week, Mike, you and I in the show talking about Mitchell, Travis Key, and when we said Listen For everybody that thinks he's gonna lose his job..

Bill Barnwell on NFL Undefeated Teams + Monday Preview

"Bill Barnwell. It is late Sunday night almost midnight, which means it's time for you to make me smarter about the NFL. I'm going to try my best Baba Bill. Barnwell is a senior writer for ESPN host of the Bill Barnwell show and he's procrastinating his deadline to talk to me. So we just watched the saints and the packers on Sunday night football and the saints lost without. Their Star Receiver Michael Thomas. But that did not stop us from getting a whole bunch of touchdowns drew brees and Aaron Rodgers. Each threw for three a piece. But in the end, the packers won the saints lost and they've now lost New Orleans says back to back games for the first time since two thousand, seventeen bill I know you are writing a new piece about drew brees coming off of the two year deal that drew brees signed in the offseason and what we've now seen from him through these first three weeks what did you see in Sunday night's games he regressing improving? What do we have with bruise right now? Okay. So public drew brees definitely improving this is a better performance from him. Me brees was downright bad on Monday night in week two against the raiders before we got to garbage time and breeze didn't do deep very frequently until this game was out of hand but I think the concerns i. have read or have heard about arm strength or how deep is passes typically go they don't really get how reason this offense actually worked. Breezes sort of like. A singles hitter in baseball like Tony Gwynn lagging time where a post player with no range in basketball he's not going to suddenly start throwing deeply. He's Patrick Mahomes at forty one years old breeze has succeeded. Over the last three years while throwing the shortest paths in the League because he's posted the three best single season completion. In NFL history. Now. The good news for the Saints Good News For Saints Fans is that brees was much more accurate on Sunday night it was twenty, nine, thirty, six for two, hundred, eighty, eight yards a lot of that West Alvin Kamara who did a lot of the work but still going to end up thirty six is still better than where brees was. The bad news was just about everything else. The Saints Lost Starters Jared Cook and Andres P to injuries while devante. Adams List Aaron Rodgers threw for two hundred, eighty, three yards and those three touchdowns you mentioned. The saints focused on adding veterans with nicknames Emmanuel Sanders and balcony. Jenkins this off season. But. Sanders hasn't been able to stand out with ankle Thomas Injured and Jenkins has been picked apart in pass coverage including Mercedes Lewis touchdown on Sunday night the attorney for more accurate breeze that was a bright spot. But if the saints continue to struggle with injuries and get disappointing play from their stars, the Orleans is going to need this version of free stick around to have a chance to compete in the NFC. So the packers emerged three no, and that's where a lot of focus the rest of our conversation here on the teams that are now undefeated through three weeks of the NFL season. So bill, let's push deeper into the NFC here because the Chicago Bears Be Chicago bears are somehow three you know and they do it by beating the Falcons thirty to twenty six Chicago was trailing by sixteen head coach. Matt Nagy Decides to pull quarterback Mitch Trubisky in favor of the veteran nick foles mister big bleep nick himself who goes on to throw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. So I have a two part question for you now. Why are the Falcons physically incapable of holding onto a fourth quarter lead and? Secondly, where does this leave the whole quarterback situation in Chicago? Let me answer the second part of that question I. The bears are going to flail by the seat of their pants for the rest of the season I would assume that nick foles is going to start until he struggles and the bears trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter a couple weeks from now, I would point Mitch Trubisky will come in and lead them to victory and the cycle will start the new. Unfortunately I don't have one simple takeaway for our poor friends and Atlantic. Is Different From what we saw in week to as. Much. As the defense was disappointing in this game, the offense really deserves a fair chunk of the blame for what happened scored a touchdown on the opening drive third quarter, and then basically tried to sit on their lead, Matt Ryan and company REPA- total three first downs on their next six is before the bears took the lead back and the only scored one field goal over that time after bisky intercession back running back Brian L. dropped an easy third down conversion which would have put the Falcons and field goal range. Then on the next drive kicker, young coup miss a forty eight yard field goal attempt. I know. I mean let's be fair. The Falcons defense was very bad. I'm not sure the Falcons are gonNA make any drastic changes on Monday morning, but Arthur blank can feel great about seeing this happen. On his seventy eighth birthday and. I believe I'm not mistaken not the only person celebrating birthday on Sunday. Having Birthday Pamela. Day Pablo. Yeah this is a hard way to discover that you share a birthday with the owner of the Atlanta Falcons Bill, which feels like you just cast a pox upon my house.

"APP and sees a and Rogers is tired of hearing about patching the homes and tired of hearing about Lamar Jackson and tired of hearing about Russell Wilson or Josh Allen. Or any of these younguns out there getting all this love. His team has got at least 35 points in every game. They play this year, and even he knows everybody was at the top of their game. You've been enough. Forget about me. I mean, anytime you playing. You know, Drew Brees. You know, you gotta score. He's such a dynamic player. You know, the two times we played here before. Like they put up 50. Both times. I know they put a 52 and one of them, but, uh so we need to have a game. We got a lot of playmakers and Travis. He knows how to deal the ball. But Right now. Our offensive feel really good about it. We've got a good flow like again, Matt. You know, I had a really nice flow with the calls. We did a nice job on third down for the most part. You are opportunistic with big plays when we needed it got a lot of guys involved. You know, I think we had Number of guys catch passes. Man number of guys who needed Play well play well. It. Was that easy, huh? 10 guys called balls yesterday for green bag so easy so He's playing at it again. A Hall of Fame love and that's where he's going. That's where he's going right to Cannes when he gets done. He's completing. No. What, like 68% of his passes. He's keeping up in 1000 yards through three games. He's nothing but touchdowns on zero interceptions, and that offense is humming right now. He's playing at an outstanding level had been the quarterback play through three weeks. I'll know if it's Pandemic football because defense is so far behind. I don't know, Freddie. But right now we're seeing some of the old guard still playing at a remarkable level like Aaron Rodgers and then the young guys like Josh Allen, also playing at a remarkable level. I'm glad you mentioned it because I saw stat today. Eight quarterbacks on Sunday through for at least 300 yards. 13 teams scored at least 28 points on Sunday. 13 It's one thing is one thing to have the golden age of quarterbacks because I firmly believe quarterbacks and point guards in the embassy. Where in the golden age of that when it comes to both of those sports for every step curry, you gotta Russell Westbrook for every Russell Westbrook gotta Damian Lewis for every day Louie got this guy, that guy. It's a thing of quarterbacks. I mean, using them that Prescott has a game like he has the Cowboys win that game. But there's a due to the other side car. Russell Wilson that is dialing it up as well as anybody not better than anybody right now. You mentioned Josh Allen, because and you made this point where we get started tonight? How many Buffalo bills fans who boot that pic. When he was jacked it not just drafted in the law first round, but boot that picked as a top seven top eight picks and why we drafted his cowboy from Wyoming. We could have gotten somebody else. Having Josh Allen jerseys are fat head posters in the room right now in Buffalo, because when they blew that lead against the Rams, he could've folded like a tent. He went out there and made a play at the plate that third in 20 to play foul Cole Beasley in the middle. There's no way that a lot of quarterbacks have the arm strength to make that play. But he does, And now he's got a Buffalo bill's team that Gets more and more legit every day because he becomes more and more legit every day of the quarterback position. He's every bit of 6465 £255 runs, you know, just He glides out there and he has the arm strength. He's an M P. M V P candidate through three weeks, and I still think it's too early to be talking MBPs watches too early. He's playing. He's playing at a remarkable level is only one of the guy that has more passing yards this year so far and through the first three weeks, but he does. His dad Prescott. Doc has to be damn near perfect every single week to give his team a chance to win because his defense is that horrendous. Josh Allen has a bit of a defense. They're the only two by the way, with a least 1000 yards passing so far Deck and Josh Allen. One got 11 squad undefeated, the other one. But it's glad they're in the NFC East. Know that Hennessey least until they figure that out there, The NSC leads, But that's not the least right there with the Bills are looking everybody thinking, Yeah. You may have thought we're going to take a step back because Brady guys, not there. And yes, they came back from 28 3 and took the lead and bubble did not give that game back when it's all said and done Friday, Fitzsimmons presented by Progressive insurance He's in Fitzsimmons. I'm Freddie Coleman. So Doc Rivers Told the Galway by the Clippers. But what if he was not the problem? That's next on ESPN Radio,.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Drew Brees: Two QBs chase second Super Bowl ring

"NFL tonight. What a match up to future First Ballot Hall of Fame quarterback So the Green Bay Packers traveled to New Orleans to take on New Orleans Saints. And so it's Rodgers versus braised breeze versus Roger NHS. And to the first two weeks, Boy, Rogers has played lights out nearly perfect. Drew Brees has not. What does it portend for tonight's matchup? I think they're definitely is that element of just getting everybody same page everybody in sync and conflict with the guys that we have with the system that we have and everything that we're going to get back on track. We're up. I knew we were in a different place starting this year than last year, even though we don't have the offseason programming. You know, Today's and training camp was different. I really felt better. But my field in the offense and kind of what we on paper and soft about doing a lot of stuff has played itself out in the first two weeks. That's two quarterbacks breeze and Rogers. I don't think Breeze is going to be able to catch up with Aaron Rodgers tonight. If this turns into a track meet. I don't think the Saints could keep up now.

"Rogers without Adam stepped up. Freeze. Without Michael Thomas, The best player was Alvin Kamara. Bree stats look fine, very similar to Rogers. But Rogers was clearly the best player on the field. Let's hear one of those Rogers touchdown passes this courtesy of the Packers radio network. Karen Jones Rogers under center second inches thick it off Roger's Rolls, Right throws touchdown. Aaron Rodgers delivers the dagger and it's 36 27 Green Bay. And that is right. Green Bay goes on to win 37 to 30 Over Nolan on that is a football. Sunday edition on a.

"Forget the phone number to hang out with us Triple eight, Say ESPN 887293776 Tonight. It's all about thieves and rapists, and I went towards my handle. Coleman, ESPN, ESPN on First of 50. I made up that the 1st 2 55 13 to 10 Kansas City. We're barely into the second quarter in this game in Baltimore Monday night Football. Had a kickoff return by Devon Duvernay for 93 yards at the cancer had gone down to score a touchdown on their drive. They're going to be a lot of tongues hanging out of mouths of guys playing on both sides of all meaning defense when it comes to Baltimore, Kansas City before this is all said and done, and the homes already looks to be in a rhythm Freddie I mean, it's getting cloudy Edwards the layer that rookie running back out of L a shoot way mentioned on draft day. It's that's picture been vetoed. And the priest now motion by that from Andy Reid and Eric Be enemy with Kansas City. Right now, it's It's got me confused. It's giving me a headache. I mean, it's It's a stroke of genius. Meena Shuffle past here full back for a touchdown because nobody's expecting number 42 sermon. Even get the ball remote. One time in this game, and he got it. He could have walked into the end zone. I mean, it was it was, It was beautiful. And then right after that, damn Devon Duvernay without 93 yard kick return for a touchdown. And when your head coach is an old special teams coordinator, not nine years under Ah, under Andy Reid in Philadelphia, John Harbaugh forgot about that. That's wrong. Hardball. That's just gotta make his heart go Pitter Pat when you give up a bit long touchdown drive like that, and then bam! Instant Adrenaline from your special teams to make it a three point game. Yeah. The hardball. Pull the mats down for a moment is a big old smile on his face like Adam. Maybe special people play specialty right now about that Something special in this game apart for the first time the night because they can see cheese Go three house to the Baltimore Ravens about to get the football back. Patrick Mahomes, nine of 1412 yards and one touchdown has not been sac Lamar Jackson fly to six. That's good. 12 yards. They're not up down the field passing team, but they're gonna have to try to hit on some big place to keep the big play chief when it comes to this Monday night football game can city leading a 13 to 10 11 23 to play in the second quarter? That game right here on Monday night football on ESPN, So we go from those two terrific quarterbacks who don't have any issues. The other quarterbacks having issues started Drew Brees, Carson Wentz and Mitchell Robiskie. We're going to start with Drew Brees and Champagne, the head coach of the state. Talk about the word reality when it comes to the ST and why they have not been able to play so well so far this season, he Basie said, And this is gonna be our new reality. Drew Brees had this to say. I feel good. Um Borderline great. And I'd say again. My job is to Uh, moving football. Get first downs possessed the ball score points right. And so, however, we can do that We're going to do it. I am focused on putting us in position to succeed, you know, making great decisions both in the run game in the past. Whatever is predicated on you know my decision. My ability goes into the best play. Um, and our ability to take care of the long bones were points, but it's the best position when complimentary ball with our defense and And special teams. Well now as far as I'm concerned, Drew Brees is not in as much trouble as those kind of throw dirt on his career in his final year at the Saints that I heard and I had a chance to see all Monday, But I will say this This team won't be able to compete for an NFC championship with him not being able to generate those chunk plays like he used to. But the state of Drew Brees has been totally ineffective, which seemed to be the heated a narrative. On Monday. To me, that's just people just want to see something new and they want to move off in the old When it comes to Drew Brees. I couldn't agree with you more and people have forgotten for some reason at that. He also didn't have one, the best wide receivers available to him again for back to back weeks with back to back losses in Michael Thomas. Because can't guard Mike was not available again yesterday. So what does he do? Go Alvin. Tomorrow. 13 catches 139 yards averaged over a first down every time he caught the ball. He had two touchdowns. But you could stop anybody. Me. You gave up 37 at home. Drew Brees Offense hung 30 on the Packers had seven completions. 29 of 36 for 2 93 touchdowns. No aunties. I was kept pretty clean. They can't drive the ball down the field. We all know that. But he hasn't been able to drive the ball down the field for three years. He's been in the playoffs every single time. In every single time it's come down to the last play. Of a playoff game twice awful calls to eliminate him. So to me, I'm with you. I'm not seeing anything really different from Drew Brees, and we haven't seen in the previous couple years. He throws guys open. That's where they get their chunk plays or by design in trick plays. That defense has been horrendous so far. And if they can't play better on that side of the ball, they won't to be a playoff team because you look at you look at the NFC right now loaded. Find me which teams for Freddie that you're going to try and pick to come out of the NFC championship game. You could make a case right now. 56, maybe seven. I mean, it's it's deep, dude. I mean, really, really deep so the things can start playing D. Don't blame Drew Brees. He's not out there playing safety. Maybe he didn't need to because the safety haven't exactly played well for the same teams like that. This year. He's in Fitzsimmons on Freddie Coleman and Freddy and Fitz Simmons on ESPN Radio, the ESPN app and soon except Channel 80. And, um, I guess that's why I hang out with us. They're here thanks to show a pencil performance line. As bad as it is for Drew Brees being wanted to unveil like that. At least he does not play quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles because they want Roger Dworsky back. They want Michael Vick back. They want Donna McNab. They want anybody not named Carson wins. As their starting quarterback. Here they are old, too, and one. They're trying to be on the good ship Lollipop When it comes to Hey, atleast we're not out of first place that faraway because that's how bad the least has been so far in the first three weeks. I look at a guy like Carson wins and to me. Everything has to be perfect. I don't believe he raises his teammates level. Nick Foles did when he got enough across someone from Constance Got in here is going to be the M V P. Nick Foles able to raise his level and everybody else's level with him. To me..

"Think it's time to sound the alarms on drew brees who was uncharacteristically erratic with his accuracy yesterday on top of of the week one game where he couldn't move the ball it's definitely too bad back to back weeks for drew brees. But I think this week them not having Michael Thomas out there I mean Alvin Kamara he's still look good but obviously, they need more than just him. He can't just be the Alvin Kamara show out there. So drew brees I. Think. Yeah. You have to be a little concerned at this that we're not seeing what we should be seeing out of him because Derek Carr put up the numbers that drew brees should have last night. It's another game where you know you look at breeze his average depth target is just over five yards, the vast majority, and this was obviously true with Michael Thomas to the vast majority of yardage that he's gaining is coming after the catch it's a different type of quarterback that they have to play around. Like Luke are my son, it became a saints fan a year ago, and my concern was like, well, you kind of jumped on this one a little late in the game had you been born earlier that might have been more profitable for you but he asked last night like is drew brees look so sad and I thought like like on a micro right like on a micro level it's because you're losing to the raiders on Monday night football and you're frustrated but like on a Matra level like the something in the is a breeze. Through me down the stretch like you can kind of get in the is well, you've seen this with Peyton manning to like in that last year and. First of all small sample size. Let's see what happens the true breeze but there are concerning distressing signals out there were seen it on the field and I thought that there was a look in the eyes of drew brees last night that sort of new something's changed here. It's not the end, but something's changed and heap maybe shares a little bit of the concern that we share because he had. You did and he. Does face. It makes me think about retirement. Remember he almost consider retirement. And players always say like once you think about it you're you're already you're already there. What did you see colleen last night? No. The same thing that's US did there was one shot in particular of through breezes face that he just you could see it was written all over his face. It was just pure dejection I. Guess to like He. He looked so sad in the moment time for that Viking funeral just put him on the wooden rafts now and push them out into the Gulf of Mexico start firing those arrows Taylor swift. They've got Winston. I Love Patras tweet where he said, we're like four weeks away from breeze coming down with a mysterious injury and Winston getting a little bit of a test drive. I mean listen that would be wild and I. Think our boy that boy wolf the number one saints fan on. Twitter pointed out that Winston had killer training camp, and and you know we also have, of course chastened Tatum Hill the twenty one, million dollar man who really has not been involved the offense too much through two weeks. Sean Payton is a guy that is if they continue to struggle you imagine it's going to be hard for him not to think about mixing things up or perhaps making a big change, but it still thinks I still feels a little premature especially the Michael Thomas. Out. Emmanuel Sanders had had a bad game yesterday. He's obviously not his straight he's in the. Chakwal Smith. IS THEIR NUMBER ONE RECEIVER So a lot of the states have a lot of work to do both in strategy and play and discipline. And now they got the packers. So that's going to be a games. Look forward to

"See 'em dion coming out I, thought we were going to have a little sound there for you but we don't but obviously, it's been a longtime friend of all of us a huge congrats to him I know He. WanNa get into coaching Stephen. What's your reaction I'm ecstatic for him being a friend of his knowing how much coaching means to him obviously, there's a lot of opportunities that he's had over the course of his career he's passed up on. Just, because he wanted to coach in high school and he was an assistant coach on a high school level, and so he wanted to be the head coach at Florida State University obviously that panned out, they went a different direction but this is one of the largest stormy black colleges. Prime Tom is prime tom and having such notable name associated with an HP. You is not just great for him It's great for me. It's great for anybody that's come from an HBO. Great for HEC, US students across America when you can get a name like that. So excited about being a part of that. It's an incredibly significant thing and I know that, I'm not worried about him. We're recruiting that's expected recruiting but in terms of coaching and teaching the game of football, let's see what he has. I'm rooting for him. I think he's going to. Do a great job, but I'm incredibly incredibly proud he ended up with an HP cu. It's definitely a special moment for all of us. If we were picking are all time teams, football teams 'cause they're million quarterbacks basically canceled diaw centers be my second pick behind. Lawrence. Taylor like he had a greater impact harder to replicate impacted his position than anyone except for maybe Lt. It's so seldom that a guy who's talent is pitched like that wants to be a coach right like Michael Jordan's not out there coaching Babe Ruth. Didn't want to manage a team never managed a team. Mohammed. Ali didn't train fighters right for a guy who's talent is pitched was pitched like dion to WanNa give back in that way and pass on the knowledge. It's actually very rare -gratulations, Dion Sanders no question. It's Alma Mater of Walter. Payton I'll just add this. Despite how athletic and how sensationally was one of the best players ever, and obviously, he'll be a tremendous coach, he such an inspirational guy and he's so motivational and I really think it will be a great leader of men. Also in developing these athletes are going to gravitate towards him. They can relate him and he's been through at kids are incredibly incredibly important. Now are reaching young minds and. "Do, and it's met with disastrous consequences. He forces things and from what I hear. From sources I trust one in particular. Carson Wentz is going to do what he wants to do. Good luck getting him to change that it's not that he doesn't work hard. It's not that he's not tough. It's not that he's stupid or anything like that. None of the, but he has has a lot of control in terms of what he actually does Stephen that goes beyond the head coach but I'll tell you this. If you're a Carson Wentz right now and you're playing poorly and they have jalen hurts in the fold they used second round pick on them. Is that just for debt that the backup quarterbacks can't you find a better way if I were Carson Wentz, I would start reading the writings on the wall and think maybe it's time to trust coach a little bit more. Well, you might have a point there but I don't know if you re I don't know if you've realized this, you actually made my argument even more poet. What the hell do I need you for Doug Peterson if I'm Jeffrey Laurie, if what you say I'm not I'm not saying that myself because I believe in Doug Peterson. But what I'm saying you Mac taking your argument. If I'm Jeffrey Laurie. Why do I need you? I'm sorry. Are you telling me that you have no control over this quarterback? Is that what you're telling me? You're telling meet at this quarterback is ignoring your instructors. You're telling me that this quarterback, this does what he wants to do anyone to do high wants to do. This is not bread fall Mike homeroom. You GotTa remember what Mike Grimm you won a super bowl you went to back to back super bowls. Okay. That's different. The Eagles went to the Super Bowl without cost win. That was his MVP caliber season but he got hurt before the season ended nick foles picked up and and ran the table and won a championship over the New England Patriots. So I got you've got this guy to listen to you, but you're trying to tell me this man that I just gave a hundred and nine million dollars to and guaranteed Dallas are you telling me with a straight face? You can't get him to listen to you because if I'm Laurie. I'm looking at Doug Peterson and I'm like, what are you talking about? But if you're Doug Peterson, you're looking at the owner going up talking about you what do you want? You're going to handcuff me you're GONNA. Tie My hands and then expect me to get houses. It is time listen has his hands tied I don't want to sell if he can't choose his own staff really if he feels like his quarterback can call the owner quicker than he can, of course, that affects what the quarterback lists do but here's the thing. A great point about Brett Farve, right? Right. I was going to do what he's GonNa do far had much more credibility to do it more equity to do it. Then Carson Wentz Right Carson Wentz out there acting a little bit like he's already Brett farve because he has real good talent and because at one point fifteen weeks into a season whatever it was he looked like the best in the game several years ago but you can..

"So. The combination of having to quarterbacks even though clearly neither of them are drew brees. It makes you ask the question have there been concerned. Because tastes Um Hill, somebody that could have been let go but you prioritized keeping him he's considered to be the future of the franchise at that position. So I would say if there's anything to be concerned about what drew brees, it's that because maybe they see the obviously with. Sticking about retiring member. He's in his even. He's like four hundred one don't let Brady fool you forty one is ancient for an NFL quarterback, right? Harry let let me let me say this to one thing that you saw last night when they kept painting over to the sidelines you saw very uncomfortable drew brees it just it never felt like he felt in-command right? It was always you know kind of looking at his receiver going no no, I want this. He's fixing everything nothing felt comfortable and at some point in two weeks, you would figure he sean Payton been together forever. They would find something that's hey, this is my go-to. This is what I do we used to call it a trigger right? Like wh what trigger? Is it that all the sudden you? Zone you have to find something you got to find something that you could depend on and it can't just be Michael. Thomas I get that he is all world. But at some point you gotta get your signal caller comfortable because his facial expressions body language, all of it looked frustrated, real quick and as good as the raiders are they ate that good jeff real quick real quick because we gotta go what about the absence of preseason how how much should that factor into all of this? Definitely. Factors in. But again, a guy who's been they've been together so long Stephen you would think after week one they kind of laid a dud even though they won you would think they would make that change before going to Las Vegas but there was nothing there was no spark even to the fourth quarter you just didn't feel it. All right. We'll leave it there. They've got another tough test this Sunday. Your boy Aaron Rodgers Batman, we'll be taking on the saints and it looks like even though Michael Thomas is dealing with that high ankle sprain, he is getting a second look at it and there is a shot. He could still potentially play I. Know People are normally out for a longer amount of time for that Jeff Saturday. Good to see you sir thank you for the insight as always. Let's chat soon. "Is over ten percent of the season, their sizable pieces of evidence if this goes on two or three more games with or without Michael. Thomas I'm ready to say he is showing declined because of age where are you is Michael. Thomas not being there a affair excuse. Michael Thomas being there's a huge deal to Stephen as point but let me let me let me say why would I would ring the alarm bell maybe not not a five but I'm GonNa ring a little bit because you're looking at this offense developed or tried to develop. You're talking about a team that didn't try to challenge the Las Vegas Raiders at all vertically. So we're we're drew brees was successful last year he led the league and throws outside the numbers this year he's dead last. Okay. Last last night there they average the second ten which means they're getting nothing out of first downplays. That's he and Sean. Payton. That's not just drew brees. That's the combination of what this offense is. There's Michael Thomas Bring. Bring a guy who you can't cover one on one absolutely. Will that make everybody look better absolutely. "Through the. Guess feel like you're in sync right now every drive in this game was was very valuable right? We really only got about seven. So two out of seven possessions. You should have resulted in some points and so in a game like this man, those are valuable you gotta have it. You just have to have it so. Are we totally in sync right now. No, we're not. We're not even close to what we are capable of what would you say to counter the narrative that that you don't feel like you're starting this season? showing decline. My Job's not to have the most air yards. or throw the ball downfield the most or anything like that. Now, my job to help us win jobs out put everybody around me in the best position to succeed. And That's all I'm focused. Welcome back to our first studio. So good to be back in the Seaport Lower Manhattan we are on the rooftop at pier seven eight. It certainly feels good to be back in New York. Everybody. Let's keep going home. Drew brees speaking after the Monday night football loss you just heard to the raiders breeze average four point, two yards per attempt this season, his fewest or two games as a member of the staying Sean Payton said this saints offense is average at best on that note, we bring into champ. Jeff Saturday gracing our television screens low Jeffrey always good to see you. We'll get you in just a moment stephen. Eight. How concerned are you? About drew brees, just two games he does not look to say, well, I'm not going to get too caught up in it because he didn't have Michael Thomas the Michael Thomas out there last night it would have been a different ballgame business all world was even this is not a good receiver. This is not an average receiver. This is not somebody just happened to make the all pro team. This is an all world receiver. And somebody that drew brees used as a primary target for the last several years keep on over the last four years drew brees completed at least seventy percent of his passes seventy, seventy two in the last years seventy, four percent of his past not a yards have diminished to some degree and last year he missed a couple of games but in the end we expect the. So the only problem I really have with drew brees is post game comments. My job is to win games to put us in the best position to win well,.

"And it's kind of a good news bad news situation with being back a good news is that we're back. We've got a full upset for today. The bad news is that I think we might have been a little bit naive and presuming this would be the start of a normal fall podcasting season John and Jerry of the past we're like, Oh, I'm sure they'll be back in school I hope they'll be back in school that was when cases were trending different way than trending. Now I think we were hopeful probably a little bit naive that this would be start a fairly normal school semester for our kids but obviously, I'm sure a lot of you guys are going through the same thing throughout the country in the world. That like it's not, it's not going to be enormous start to school. I know some people are going in person some people are doing part time. Our kids are doing virtual learning here at home, and so the next few months are not looking the way that we expected them to I mean I guess that's just twenty twenty right? That is a sentence everyone listening I can say like I didn't picture my August. And September looking like this there is a meme. Put it in the show notes it's about cheese and it basically shows like a beautiful cheese board and bree topped and fruit, and that's January you have runs through January February march April may and it's like someone gradually looking more like chaotic just like a celebrity who's going from like their Glam, red carpet, all the way to being frazzled and just screaming into the void. Opposite of glow up. This is cheese demonstrating and it goes from like a beautiful breed topped and fruit to like someone eating a chunk of cheese right from like the Hong. Like neighbors was not slicing going on and then it ends with leg one slice of American cheese in the plastic grab the craft rap cheese. That is your August and September for sure everyone we talked to you feels like they're going through this pivots with work pits with life pivots with family. It's not just the schooling thing that's just one of the left turn that's going on right now we really don't need to detail for everyone why this year's gotten complicated you guys all get it. So we just when we Looked at everything decided that the podcast something that we probably need to put a pin in for a little while if nothing else just because of the logistics of making it while our kids are here doing their virtual learning because a quiet house has been in short order lately. Yes we don't WanNa make any promises right now about wind will be back with the podcast because if we're taking one lesson right now from this year is that you can't predict what's going to happen anyways I'm sorry for the bad news. Because you guys know we love making this podcast and it pains us to put it on sort of a question mark hiatus but we just figure. That's the best thing right now for us but we said it was a good news bad news situation I feel like the good news of this is instead of just telling you on instagram or the blog like, hey, we can't get back to the podcast. So you will have officially seen every room in the house by Wednesday when you have six rooms eight goes. Really Fun. It's like much more settled feeling than we expected but something outside took forever to come together while and the funny thing is it should have been a pretty straightforward thing. The thing was a fence. We knew we were in ads fencing to our yard at some point just to give us a little bit more separation from our neighbors we learn from our time at our beach, house in Cape Charles? That when you're on these small lots a fairly dense neighborhood that it's nice to do some sort of. Like privacy fencing, just to make the yard field a little bit more like intimate in some spots. So like we wanted some fence between our neighbor directly to our side, you know the one that's the house under construction that you might be able to hear us we record. Yeah. Sometimes they pop in on the podcast and it sounds a little something like this wait I'll do a nail gun who the Hula Jerry is gunning for an outtake here I can tell that was abd core strength that came from the belly. How Neil feels well, and in addition to the one on the side between the construction were also eventually going to do something outside our bedroom to create like a little private courtyard area off of our bedroom. So we knew there were some things we're going to do at some point we weren't in a big rush, but we knew we wanted that fence between us and the construction pretty quickly. We actually got the ball rolling on that as soon as we got here like maybe the second day we were in Florida, I, feel like I needed disclaimer. To this, a lot of it has to do with the culture of Your neighborhood in Cape Charles it was very common. There was a certain height that was allowed lots of people. Did It neighbors went in on it together this neighborhood is similar. So we actually spoke with the builder who's building that House next door, and we're going in on this fence together. So I thought Ooh, we got this ball rolling right away. When we landed here, we've got the builder in on it like we're really going to roll on this fence what was supposed to But I, guess there's actually a big fence material shortage I. Don't know if it's related to the corona virus or not, but they had a lot of trouble having things in stock. So kept getting pushed back and pushed back in this thing that we thought we were going to have taken care of by like early June took like two and a half months we didn't get it until just last week. Players blitz NFL with tweets about safe return

"And thank you so much for joining us seven am on the east coast this. Get up I'm Ryan Smith in for my Greenberg, and we will be with you for the next two hours with a lot to cover from the weekend, especially from the world of the NFL, because believe it or not, we're just fifty two days away from the Super Bowl champion chiefs, and the Houston Texans opening the NFL regular season as rookies from both of those teams will be the first players to report to training camps today, but a big development yesterday of NFL players took to twitter. Twitter yesterday to voice their concerns about the safety protocols put in place or lack thereof chiefs quarterback Patrick mahomes. Said this getting ready to report this week hoping the NFL will come to agreement with the safe and right protocols, so we can feel protected playing the sport. We Love Hashtag. We WanNA play. The saints drew brees. We need football. We need sports. We need hope, but the NFL's unwillingness to follow the recommendations of their own medical experts will prevent that if the NFL doesn't do their part to keep players healthy, there is no football in twenty twenty. Will Dak Prescott Sign A Long Term Deal With The Dallas Cowboys?

"Prescott. There is two hours and fifty one minutes left until Dak, Prescott, and Dallas Cowboys can work in extension if not he will be under the franchise tag for the next season earning himself thirty one point four million dollars guaranteed. With the potential chance I, guess up after this season or get franchise tag again. He is now the third quarterback in the history of franchise tags and the NFL to play on the franchise tag. If that happens obviously before after four o'clock drew brees that it what the San Diego chargers. He leaves Don Kirk cousins, does it? What The Washington redskins twice? He leaves town, so history says Dak Prescott will play. This franchise tag may be getting again even but not in Dallas Cowboy long-term. If Your Dad, how do you feel? Do you pumped about thirty one point? Four million dollars guaranteed because if I'm looking at that piece of paper I'm like fucking here we go. Yeah. He's got to be torn. I would imagine I'm sure you're excited. Okay? I'm going to be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys for another year. MC, thirty one million guaranteed, but he doesn't feel like he has that long term security that he wants from the team. McKay. You think I'm your guy. You're willing to pay thirty one MIL for one year. Why doesn't that don't you think you should give me five six year extension and give me big time money for down the road? That's where he's gotTA. Be Thinking, but so if he doesn't do it today though. He will become a free agent. When the League year starts next March right now after the season they can negotiate. There's another window after the season before free agency to work a long term deal. I actually had that happened after I got franchise tag the day before free agency, we worked a five year deal or four year deal, so I never hit the market, but I was franchise tag the year before, so they could still potentially do that, but I guess I five year deal was offered to Prescott. Numerous Times but DAK wants a four year deal. Cowboys won a five year deal and we've been told by everybody around the cowboys and that knows the organization that that is literally. The only holdup is a one year difference so that's very interesting to me because it feels like there's it's much bigger than just a one year difference there. Thirty three to thirty five million dollars offered with over one hundred million dollars guaranteed, so if you look at that, they know that the cowboys won a five year deal that means three years of that deal was guaranteed. The other two were not locked in for five years as opposed to attack once for four, so everybody's assuming he's going to sign that deal. They're not going to get a deal done, but it's interesting because. He could potentially get thirty seven point four or something next year if he gets franchise tag thirty seven point nine if he gets franchise tag again I, don't see them running into the situation next free agency. I don't. There's no way that the franchise tagging him again they would. You would think they get the deal done I think that they're trying to see if he and Mike McCarthy going to work, I honestly believe that I think there's now granted. They made him one hundred million dollar guarantee already, so maybe I'm wrong in thinking

"Thanks for being here new. Orleans saints players are talking it out right now. It's like all of us. It was a scheduled meeting. They had in advance of breezes post yesterday. This is going up through our tape time. Some teammates on record happy breeze apologized linebacker David steadied. Show the ultimate move leader. The owns mistake and move the conversation back to the issue. Michael Thomas. Posted at one of my brothers made a public statement yesterday. I disagree with it. He apologized I. accept it because that's what we're taught. As Christians now back to the movement Hashtag George Floyd. Reset in his post I made comments that were insensitive completely missed the mark of the issues. And he lacked awareness, compassion or empathy. He said that and posted this photo right here. I'd like you all to consider the apology itself, and then I want to delve into the idea that has been raised in this. This is one person's opinion. A person is allowed to have an opinion and opinion is neither right nor wrong, but I. Clinton Yates around the Horn to you. How did you read reasons apology? Apologised struck me as both cursory for the purposes of his team and Corny, overall in terms of the message that says if you're going to apologize for something listing all of the things that you did not do as opposed what you did do and will not continue to do. That doesn't really fly for me. It was only to the life of Ed Reed and other teammates came out, and actually said something that he decided to do this on top of it using that odd bulb. Mean picture almost made it seem like he didn't understand what so ever what was going on for a guy at that stage of his career with franchise like that trying to get. Get that locker back to get it to get over the hump. This is absolutely going to be an issue in my opinion that they're going to have to get over in the saints. Locker Room I'm not saying it's impossible, but there's no way you go into this season. especially with fans in the added intimacy, not addressing that as a team, not just once, but going on down the line, because hello, we don't know that these systemic abuses are not going to keep popping into the public discourse, but when you read Michael Thomas I accept the apology when you hear from tomorrow. David saying he showed what a true leader is. What do you say to that? I'm not saying much through leaders. Don't put themselves in positions where they have to apologize. You can look drew brees track record on a number of things, not just this one and the apologies add up in their getting weird, and they're becoming a little bit much. I don't necessarily consider this a leadership scenario. Just because you backtrack from something after folks told you you were wrong. I! WanNa bring frank is Sola here now. How did you read apology? Tony Number One. He didn't really apologize for what he said, so his beliefs about the flag patriotism. He did not apologize for that. What he's apologizing for was the reaction to it, and let's face it if he had said this three weeks ago, it's barely going to become a new story. And of course he's not reading the room correctly. Because this is a time when everyone's kind of focused on George Floyd police brutality racial injustice, and I think once he realized. Realized the mistake that he had made it does come across as insensitive I. Give Him Credit for the apology as it relates to the locker room. Let's remember something. It's early. June number one and we all know what the dynamics are in any locker room. There are guys. Don't get along the NFL. You're GONNA have nearly sixty guys, so they're not going to be players that have opposite views on a myriad of issues. I think that a lot of players understand. Drew brees has been around for a long time. He's made a lot of money. He's been successful at I. Think they're going to look at what he's done in the community and look at him as a whole. Say you know what he apologised I think Michael Thomas he was the most outspoken yesterday and here we are not even twenty four hours later and read his statement. And Jackie mcmahan. So I. Think the apology was heartfelt, but I do think we have to look at the apology. A little more closely and the total lack of awareness that drew brees exhibited during one of the most tumultuous times I can remember in the in the last thirty forty years, and that's the part I guess that troubles me I don't think drew. brees even understood what he said. He probably still in his heart doesn't quite understand what the uproar is about and that's. That's part of the problem, isn't it? That's what we've been talking about. Through all of these issues is understanding listening learning. All of those things I think it was only a little over a year ago. Tony that drew brees raise the ire of the Lgbtq community when he appeared in a video. For a Christian group that has very strong anti lgbtq views including recommending conversion therapy, and what did drew brees say then he said Oh. No, no, you misunderstood. No, I'm not against gay people and I didn't know what this stood for so two. Clinton's point there just seems to be this. Lack of awareness that in this current climate when we're all trying to wake up and understand what the person next to us is feeling to be open about all that. Somehow, it gets lost in the translation with drew brees. So last night in the protests in New Orleans, there were chance you'd never thought you would here in New Orleans right. F Drew Brees, so we're talking about what I was going to go over to the locker room, but also on over in the city jackets..

"Your Business and your dream choose from over thirty coverage options, progressive, visit progressive, dot com, and when you look across the board at at what we expect at some point when you look at what we expect from drew brees. I. Think that's what made this so shocking people are used to drew brees, saying and doing basically the right thing and you're looking at drew. Brees is saying and doing so much. That is easy to look at and say okay where he's coming from. It's rare to see drew brees. Walk Anything Back Right. So that's what makes all of this so difficult. Because what it is done quickly is it is shifted a conversation. That doesn't need to be shifted right now. Suddenly it's taken a conversation. That's very important that we've been having on this show for the last several days, and it takes that conversation and makes it about something completely different right everything that's. That's going on in the country. Right now has nothing to do with what was discussed in this moment so unfortunately, what happens when he comes out and says what he says is that it takes an shifts everything back to an argument that's been going on for the last couple of years to an argument that has not been successful for most people over the last couple of years, and it's able to shift that focus back to their I want to keep the focus. Of the conversation about what we're doing to move forward and how we do it, and if that this is part of that conversation fine, but we can't let happen. Are the words of Drew Brees in this instance? Take the focus away from what we're trying to talk about right now. I take your take on ESPN radio, and there was a lot more conversation about drew brees and what he had to say, and that came on I take also in the form of Tony Dungy Tony Dungy Joint I take talking with Laura Rutledge Stephen and Max about his thoughts, drew brees, initial statement, and in fact, then his thoughts on the apology. I WANNA. Get your reaction to droop reasons, initial comments, and then the apology that he's now released. What do you think about all of it? Well I was disappointed in the initial comments for Sir. This is the time when we need unifying. Device voices, but I I believe in the Bible and I believe as a Christian that you accept the policies and the Bible says a tree is known by its fruit. And that's what we have to look for withdrew I've known him twenty years. I consider him a friend. I've seen good fruit in his life I. Believe we'll see good Fr- from here on out, so I'm GonNa, accept his apology and move forward and see if this can be a moment that brings us together rather than driving a wedge to take us apart I completely agree.

"They were big fans of the team in in a in of lefty, but anyway to make a long story short, which is the theme of the day and with an attempt to do it. God? Was He so good? And it's not like I need. That showed a remind me. A the constant lights in. When we've had this conversation in the past I've said to you, the comparison with Jordan which Bilas made, which all of made last night that was like the big. What was he like is in college. What was he like is a pro well. He wasn't Michael. Jordan that's not the comparison. The comparison was Dominique. Wilkins, I feel so confident in that being the COP for for lend bias in his game for those of you. That didn't see him. Jordan was guard bias was a forward Jordan. Jordan was a much better ball handler, and by the way, a better defender but in bias was a true small forward highlight reel like Jordan outrageous athlete, but but bias was six eight in Jordan six bias wasn't a great ball handler. When you think Dominique Wilkins Dominique Wilkins was a human highlight reel, and he was a twenty five. What every was it? As an average score bias would've average twenty five to thirty know a game. He would have been an all time. Great forward position. He would have developed more to his offensive game as a ball handler in a creator. He was a phenomenal shooter. He liked durant. You couldn't stop his jump shot because he was six eight with a forty two inch vertical leap, any shot at perfectly with elbow extended, you know office fingertips at the very top of the jump and the and the shooting motion and you. You couldn't check him. No one could get up that high. And the the best comparison to Jordan terms of attributes was athleticism and competitiveness. Bias was a bad ass on the court he was. He went out there and took Shit for himself like he would not back down to anybody. He imposed his physical. You know will on people and he was great as a shooter to. He would dunk through you in over you. He wasn't trying to go around you most of the time he was. Dunker in the same way Shawn. Camp, and and Dominique Wilkins were, he would try to dunk it so hard. He put a hole in the in the ground, the the leaping ability on Eli Bob from Keith Gatlin. He was up to the corner of the backboard. It was David Thompson Esq except Thompson couldn't dunk. The dunk was outlawed. Remember when Thompson was at NC. State in by bias would flush it on. On big guys like Chris, Chris Washburn and Brad daugherty and Jay Bilas Dunk it right on their head, and basically their body would be drilled into the floor on the dunk. He dunked on David Robinson Tournament game. He held David Robinson to two points in the final seventeen minutes of a second round game in Dayton in nineteen, eighty, five, every big game bias came through with the exception of one. And that one game was a sweet sixteen game his junior year against Villanova in Birmingham. Villanova would go win the national championship that year. That's when they upset Georgetown. In the final, in Lexington one of the great upsets in the history of College Basketball Maryland Played Villanova on their way to the title Maryland was higher seeded. Remember Villanova. was you know a a true Cinderella even the word? They rat a big league they they were eight Cedar, seven seater, whatever they were Maryland was the favored team. They were supposed to win. The game and bias shot four for thirteen from the floor and had eight points. It was the worst game in a big. Big Game he played in his entire college career and it sucked because they would have played actually. North Carolina in the elite eight who Villanova beat and that team had a chance to get to the final four none of biases, teams made it past the sweet sixteen they went to three sweet sixteens. I'm sorry, two sweet sixteens, and were eliminated in two second round games as a freshman to Akeem Olajuwon in Houston, on the way to that final, against NC, state to Illinois in his sophomore year, another game in which Maryland was favored to win. That game that game was in Lexington. Actually I think Yeah Lexington, and then in Birmingham de Villa Nova, in the sweet sixteen is a junior, and then his final game against unlv thirty one points, twelve rebounds, an unbelievable final game, which turned out to be the final Organiz basketball game. He played in his life they had an eight point lead against Arcadian and UNLV in this in a second round game to get to the sweet sixteen where I think Maryland would have played auburn, and they fell apart down the stretch and and and they. They got knocked out of a game that that they were. You know that you thought they were favored. It's funny Tommy Cottage I'm saying that. The in the tournament. In his final three seasons, two of which he was AC player of the year. They lost three tournament games all three games. They were favored to win. And you know what that's. Kinda is much as I. Love Lefty. That's kind of the story of left. Out that Maryland, so many times was the favourite. They were supposed to be a final four team. They were suppo- in and they always sort of came up short, and they came they came up short three times a favourite in in his sophomore, junior and senior years and anyway really. I I recommend it to everybody to watch that that first hour, then they then they showed the Carolina game eighty, the first win in the deemed dome, and then they had that thirty for thirty on which I've seen that came out ten years ago. without bias. It was nice to see everybody. Focus on what he was as a player. You know rather than the circumstances around his death, which we've all heard that story over and over and over again and You know for a whole generation like my boys have heard me talk about Len bias forever you know and they've seen the highlights, but the you know they sat. One of them has and watch. The other ones watched it, and he's like my God. He was such an athlete. You know when we talk about guys. It would translate to today. Bias was six eight to ten to fifteen with that with the long arms in the athleticism he he wouldn't look that much different today. As a small forward! PROBABLY NOT I it's a shame. What do you remember matching.

"He has been nothing but a first class individual in every regard the way he lives his life the way that he supports so many different aspects of the New Orleans community, and because he feels the way he does about the flag and the kneeling during the national anthem now all of a sudden. Be ruined which I do not I. Hope Does Not Happen I. Hope more people who played with him who know him a hell of a lot better than I do come to his support and defense and let people know that he is and. It's it's people are making himself. He's a racist and he's not. He's anything but that. He's everything that's right with you. Know I think with somebody who understands his significance in their society meaning that he puts himself out. There uses the platform to try to help people, and it's always ever done. It's always done other than just playing at an all pro level. It seems like every year so. Really sad thing yesterday. When we got off that bike, I looked at it and I started seeing all the stuff, and I'm like I can't believe drew brees of all people. Yeah, I'm just being attacked. Way was attacked. I understand why teammates and others were were really upset with his words, because it seemed like he wasn't addressing the issues that they have been fighting for I do think that you it's it's an opportunity to educate as well and I think because of all the things that you mentioned drew brees his past. He's the type of guy that because of all the good things he's done. He will understand if there are conversations to be had I mean. Joe You right so so he's. He's been living in the Middle Right. If you're an NFL player, so since since the collar cap since Congress. Sat Down on the bench before we started kneeling. You have been asked about these questions and he's been around and he's listened to his teammates. He knows exactly what's going on right, but he also wants people to know how he feels about well a symbol of our country so that that's what I was saying he needed to. There was just there was another he had to address. How other people felt in that clip and it didn't happen, and that's why he could have said everything that he said, but also said, but that doesn't mean that I don't understand that my situation and the way I feel. is not the way that everybody feels and I'm listening to my teammates. I. Know We all come from different backgrounds, and that's what was missing, and that's why people got upset as they got because it was as if. He was dismissing how they felt and everybody should feel the way he felt now. Is that fair that that's the way that it came across and everybody dismissed everything that he's ever done in his life yesterday. No, but he's also got a he's. He has to come out and explain and not be shamed into explaining. The the other side of things and how he also understands that and I don't believe the man is a bad bone in his body. He does on, and it's. It's unfortunate that you know the this particular. Take him not addressing how other people could feel and how their experiences could be different from his that that's that's the thing that sent a lot of people off the deep I would also say to man you know I'm a man is the fine by I. Guess you would say his actions. And how one carries himself and the things that he tries to do? and. You know and this literally all of this. And this is again. It always points to the media, and how we tend to really delve on the negative and I don't ever. I want to be positive. You don't WanNa see the Yankees I. Want to see the mets. We got good teams I want to see those teams play I. WanNa see Daniel Jones and Sam darnold turn out to be great players I WANNA see rj Barrett lead the next with Tom Thibodeau as their new coach in and the way that the Knicks are GonNa go about trying to rebuild their team I wanna see the hockey playoffs. Come back I want to see all those things I'm excited about all those things and I hope they all come true and I hope they all come to fruition I. Hope they all play. Play out well, and I hope they we all are a part of something that we never expected to see what we're going to see in a different format. That's going to be just as exciting as what we're used to, but when I, when I when I think about all of this stuff that's going on, and all the negativity around it and I see a young man who has built a reputation as a a beautiful person, and a person is given so much, you know these are the types of things that really really do hit home, and this is like this is like the collateral damage of what's going on. And again you know it's like I. Don't ever WanNa. Forget George Floyd in his life and I certainly don't want to take Charon's floyd. His brother's words in and forget them either because he is the one that tried to tell people in Minneapolis, look man, go and vote changed the world that way do it. Do what how you're doing into a peacefully. Run Our city and those things I'm so grateful for that's positive. That's a positive move. For the most part, Ninety five percent of it ninety eight percent of it, everything is fine. It's just the two and a half three percent of it that is really dominating the headlines and unfortunately drew brees got swept up in that yesterday. Yeah, I mean there's a lot of people that are very very angry and very upset, and there's a lot of very raw emotions right now, and that is fueling a lot of these things, and it's very hard for anybody who's not feeling those emotions. To say, don't have those emotions right so that's that's why it's sort of the those who feel that way you know they're. They're feeling that way for for very legitimate reasons, and it's just tough because it's still very early. Even though we've been dealing with this issue, and the video has been out for a week.
