We've got a couple of people on talking experts. I should say talking about nutrition and exercise so those have been very fun so i am just thrilled at the way. Our podcast is going and as an aside. Many of the top podcasts are hosted by men in given that the profession is over fifty percent woman in growing. I'm so glad to be one of the female podcasters out there. As a board certified pediatric dentist leading and paving the way for other females on us to join the podcasting world. And i'm just excited. That i have this opportunity to share mommy. Denison business podcast with all of you. That are listening. One thing i really wanted to share. That was a very epic moment. And i- career is going to the voices of dentistry podcast convention and i missed last winter because we were snowed in. We had some terrible weather. But the year before that i took my team to arizona and got to meet allan mead mark costas and a lot of the other friendly podcasters and that was such a great time and i haven't had that much in a convention at a dental meeting in a really long time so i'm so sad that we won't be meeting because of coronavirus 'cause i was really looking forward to it but i really wanted to share a few clips from the podcast convention and the mommy denison business. We call them end as we'd like to have fun wherever we go and we were able to pull people and do a quickfire challenge. We like to throw questions at people and they need to answer them. Right on the spot. First thing that comes into mind. So we're going to share some of those opposites with you right now and. I hope that you enjoy listening to them. Thanks for being a good sport gonna do lightning round questions like how we haven't prepared. It's okay you're real life. I said all right good place first thing that comes into mind. I thought he did a nice job. Guys any questions or comments for him or for US email us at Info. Don't axe dot com asking the dental nation. We'll get an email to him so he will answer the questions because honestly you don't want Jason Answer this question to answer. Lots of questions asked me a question. What Song the Depeche? Mode saying quote. Do we know what Song it was earlier? We just know it's the same album personal Jesus. I still think it's personal. Jesus I thought of another song but I'm not sure. I think deep cut their do it again Jason Dental hacks listeners. Tell us what song this is on home. Sorry video of this. I'm super glad that we invested in the Mike Technology. We have because that sounded really good. We got we caught every nuance in that Iraq. You well jobs so like I said break. The silence was that song. I know I'm too tired. Don't ask me these questions. I don't know if violence break silence. Enjoy the silence. He's he's literally googling on the fly because that's the quality that you get from dental acts. Believe that God that is said on all levels. It's crazy so now is the time on the show where my voice goes funny and not like funny like Jerry Seinfeld comedy funny. I do not like Chris. Rock funny but like like funny like that dude is funny and head. My voice goes funny I go I say I go. Go Hack Yourself. I say well I never. Yeah so we do guy strung out for a long time. Sorry about that people. You deserve better than this but I have are not getting it impression that for my wife and she absolutely hates it. It's Ray Romano talking to Jerry. Seinfeld won't do it. I won't do it here now. You will hello you ever. You ever meet me in person. Perhaps and next next time the true fans will ask for that. Yeah and he's going to do on stage at Boise Dentistry. Twenty twenty will for sure how my wife to be entertained? She's not coming so you can get a lot of it because she won't be there just saying my my corentin has been filled with lots of Hulu watching Sometimes still two or three in the morning and thus really breaking up my schedule and getting me unprepared to give back to work and we have been watching the handmaid's tale. Oh some that I've never really chosen or picked out by myself but the me and my wife got hooked pretty quick and would watch three four hours at a time and then all asleep and wake up. Then WanNa start again. So it's a it's a good good cliffhanger ab I would really recommend it. Oh crazy. It's I don't know if it's a real good subject matter to watch well this craziness going on if your mental health is already kind of in trouble maybe not yes this this real life right now but yeah. It's it's really interesting cliffhangers and stuff so. I would recommend it a job up hot take DAKE SO I. I wish that I had the attention span to watch. There's so much good television there I show. "Still practicing with within the realm of what other ethics they are they are come And and either were either lazy like me or ignorant like me Or or you know. We're not our personalities are not such that are proper to be a manager and put in that position. A lot of people didn't get into dentistry with the idea that they were gonNA be business. People like that was the goal to clear. There are some dentists. Who Really. That's what they really love. And that's totally cool. But but I mean a lot of us didn't in a toll on some level. It only makes sense to have some of this am I being pro DSL. I don't know not I definitely not being anti idea so on on some level because in his you'll hear in the conversation we have with Brian. You know man. There's a million different models out there. probably worth keeping your eyes open towards a lot of that and we actually talk about Brian'S COMPANIES DYKEMA. It's a they. They essentially help put. Dso deals together and stuff and he. They have a big conference every year. This year July fifteenth through the seventeenth century invited US so jaisigher. We haven't put our travel stuff together. But Hey maybe I think it'd be a very interesting meeting to go to before I talked with him. I would not have thought that that was a very interesting meeting to go to and now I'm kind of intrigued. He's GonNa talk about it in this interview to but what I'm saying like I know that my paddock expanding numbers up. Second Summer Practices when I haven't had on some level though. I just know that my practice could be managed so much better. You know in in because I'm not all that interested in doing that aspect of it. That's why they buy them yes. I Buy Dell narrow because they know because they know that they can do it better they can be like the numbers can be bumped just because someone is better at managing it and there's potential that me as a dentist. I can just do dental stuff. Which is what I know what to do. So and typically they keep that they keep that original owner if they don't like to lose that original owner so they're not gonna come in and expect you to change your ethics overnight. No and takes at least three weeks actually takes obvious super obvious that when we're talking to him he's he says yeah. There are some deals that they were. You might be able to get out a little sooner but you can tell that. I think that the typical one is that the owners sticks around for a while because they want to. They want to be able to take all that goodwill from the owner. So I used to be. They'll get you for five years and usually that initial DSL. That buys it is probably going to be there all five years. They're probably in two years. Yeah somebody else. Yeah I gotTa tell you that. This interview was nothing short fascinating. Brian's a super smart guy and he's the other thing is he's actually really open about stuff for for a lawyer. You know we're dentists. We're supposed to be really skeptical of lawyers. He's he seems pretty much on the up and up. I really enjoyed tacos college stories. They told us where all the prison stuff right. Well maybe I should have left them. Getting this is a this is a good interview I think for the business types that listened to our show or for the people who are even interested even the people who are who worked for new out of school and they're kind of kind of want to see what's going on inside I th. I think this is really proud of it. Brian Good Guy in legacy. We may well be showing up in Dallas in July to see what's going on there. So why don't you guys sit back and take a listen to Brian Kalaheo from Dykema as he keeps us up to speed on? Dso's in twenty twenty. Okay cat cameras. I want you to Magin workspace so clean and organized that you won't even recognize your opportunity. Our friends at Zirk are really good at organization and they really get you gamers. Get One free deal zirk because time is everything. That's Brian Your. I don't mean to put this the wrong way but you're pretty easy. I think I think we're talking in the spirit attended exactly. Don't nation welcome back to another interview recorded here. Live at voices of Dentistry Twenty. We have wrapped the C. Program. So now I have to say like I didn't know you know the afternoon GAC come out podcast and I'm like we are in Scottsdale. I'm wouldn't have been surprised if everyone took off but they didn't is. You can hear there. Are People doing stuff? I'm very excited joining me as always my stalwart companion. Dr Jason Lives. Good how are you? I'm good now we've got a a recurring guest. Someone who we talked to a lot at the boise dentistry. Brancaccio of I'm here. To see credit is over with so no rules. There's no rules and that's it man and actually her off dike has been supporting this meeting for years. Now so thank you start like this is very cool so brian what is going on in the world of DSO's right now since like since last voices dentistry last January. What do we need to know about your kind of our kind of the guy with the finger on the pulse? So what do we need to nobody? Yeah no question. So consolidation is twenty three percent of Dsm Dso's are twenty. Three percent of the market is the way to say it. Yeah maybe twenty. Three twenty four. There's little disagreement there The consolidation is continuing at a very brisk pace. It's predicted seven to ten years. Dso's eighty plus percent of the market. So you know that. Sort of what? We're looking at things that I'm kind of thinking about is. What if a recession were to hit Knock on wood. It doesn't look like this year but next year or the year after you know. What is that going to do to the consolidation? What might the impact be of some of the alternative models out there that we're seeing because what we do know is not every dentist wants wants it to be a foregone conclusion that they're going to have to affiliate with a conventional they want other option? Yeah and you know. A lot of other options are coming into the marketplace right now. What's what's the definition of a DSL. At that point. I know range in size greatly so I mean is that just considering like a a small. So that's going to take over a couple of good questions. Era can be one office idea so is a entity that provides non clinical administrative support services to a dental practice. That's owned by a licensed dentist. Now I get phone calls all the time from business school graduates. Hey I just graduated wharton school. I want to join the dental industry and do a show and I'm starting with my first practice and to that person there are one practice. Sometimes people are like that stupid. How can you have one practice? Dsl Anytime you have a non dentist that one in the industry obviously then you have DSL with a thousand affiliated offices on the other end of the spectrum so you know the way I think of it as anytime you have an entity that's providing non clinical support services. I don't think of it as you have to have a certain size. You have to have this very interesting offices because clarifying and clarifying to tell you the truth. That's really interesting that that I hadn't thought of it that way. That's that's Kinda so basically it's it's non clinical management.

"Been working Zeta that has been pretty much alone time forever so it was very weird to have someone in the car with me on my commute. And how bizarre is that. Both smoking cigarettes stricken. Yeah exactly. That's right complaining about complaining about our wives. Yeah exactly pretty much chicks Yeah Yeah it was. It was cool. It was it was weird though is different and you never quite know how he's GonNa react and stuff he was a rock star in the air and so we were kind of messaging being back and forth and you put it up on the dental axe nation. So what are your thoughts on working on your own children. My daughter came in for cleaning couple of years ago and she had. She had a couple of cavities avenues than I. Just my wife hygienic. Since she's like a unity those and I said absolutely not that is I just knew that it would just be a a crap show if I tried to do it. So we actually referred over the Peter Donnas than she'll Tafiq experience and now she has. We took a cone. NB monarch because we took an x ray on her. I saw this interesting. We've got she's got some supernumerary teeth. Coming in between She's got a Non is already in their eighties coming in but she's got to super numerary teeth between our behind eight and nine. Wow and I'm debating on on whether I should address it or cinder over to the oral surgeon and do it but haven't quite decided yet and waiting for Mother Nature to take. Its course but I don't know I get it. I get it Sean. Actually has shown has a blocked out adult. He's like he's his arch. Form is near perfect except for whatever reason one baby. Canine is decided to hang on. I think it see and we've got Eleven that wants in. But it's it's so it's come out it's kind of blocked it Out a little bit and I think honestly a couple of good bites on a carrot stick. It probably takes the out of there. But he's like you get some kids. Who Will you know? He was literally taking teeth out before. They're ready to come out. You know he's bleeding all for some reason. This one is is a is a problem for him so I'm giving him a deadline two weeks and if he doesn't get it on and I have to get out and I really WanNa do that to Sean. Because I don't know how I will say this. I've worked on Jacob who is nine going on ten next month he's Rockstar. He is he was. I numbed him up. I did every he cared. All these awesome so I told myself I never work on my kids but yet he was really once we did it. He was really good so he proved that I feel okay doing that. I don't think I want to on Sean though. So it's it's interesting. My Dad used to work on us all the time got he did my braces. He did everything I think so. I know that back in the day it was never even thought I would hate for by kids resent. Yeah no I get it I get it in the other thing. Is You know. I'm not my a pediatric. Dental skills are relatively limited. If it's I I I don't mind we're GONNA KISS at all if they're really if they're willing and comfortable and if I have a TV on. But Man I. My bag of tricks isn't very deep so I I wouldn't want to. I like to be able to refer when I want to. So anyhow I- dental nation we'd like to hear what you you do with your kids. Have you done multiple implant surgeries on them have you have you select them and dime Emmy denture have you. Are you even afraid to do a profile on mm-hmm we want to hear everything and WanNa hear. If you have any ethical qualms with the kinds of things we've done to our children that we just described plenty of ethical qualms get those lower so one of the interviews we recorded a hun- identified a at the voice dentures here. We recorded a lot very pleased with that because because the year before we didn't get much done at all of us in this year we did. So you and I sat down with Dr Danny Domain in Dr Daniel Smith of the four of us dying about stuff yet. They're both. They're both good guys we Daniel had actually been on. I think he'd been on a brain trust in the past and I know that I interviewed him for the Alam experience and he talked a lot about his military experience so he was a Navy Dennis for four years. He's got some great stories and he tells some great stories it's really cool for the original. Planners like Danny domain is a surgical monster and he took this amazing implant residency in New York. And he told us a lot about that and we'd heard a lot about that but we never heard about it on the podcast and like Danny spoke at voices dentistry. not this year but the year before and he did the lecture on basically the ear implants lance that he did for a dude one of the more amazing cases. You'll ever see Lee replaced like you know. They were dental implants. But he placed him in the head and made him like a snap on locator kind kind of ear. It's frigging nuts. Sue printed it too so danny is a surgical master and he does all kinds of three D. printing. He does milling. He does. He's kind of like it's kind of like this ultimate implant dentist and he is so humble. He's like so humbling. Such a normal guy. Didn't I felt like honestly we didn't even deserve sit at the table with them the truth and he was so cool. About Alvin. Naiad agent does amazing stuff that we've and we've both been to his implants of back and white Course and Lafayette Louisiana Different Times. Yep and it's it's just cold as somebody that that is humble and just goes in and sleighs it. He's amazing mazing makes me feel bad about myself but Iraq. We don't really deserve to Polish shoes. But we're glad he was on with us in. Daniel also are Daniel. Neil Smith was. He's got some really good stories about being military dentist and just and actually we could probably have him on. We're thinking of doing around table of of dentists with with the family. I actually talked about that. A little bit of Boise Dentistry. Where as my dad being a dentist in dentists who have family member dentists in Daniel Actually has worked with a bunch of immersed in his practice and we hear a lot about that in this interview to he's one of the guys who met early on a Vod and yeah? I'm one of the things. I'm I'M SO APPRECIATIVE FOR A. Va is meeting people. That are so funny that make your day better just because they can just Say the right thing crack you up. Oh it's perfect. That's that's that's what I'm most appreciative for is just meeting all these different people. I'm from all over the country that you otherwise would never have have run into totally just finding a common bond and just sitting down and having a good time that's just it's like minded friends. I mean like minded friends. So if you're someone who likes to listen to podcasts. And the people we talk with or likes to be on facebook groups goofing around and stuff. That's that's what voices industry was. It's basically the face to face time to to meet with these like like minded friends. and honestly this podcast has a lot of that because not only are we interviewing Danny Domain in Daniel Smith were also throwing things at Justin Moody who is like a cry across the room also podcasting so they had. They had their headsets on Moody. was throwing throwing stuff at us. We threw stuff at Moody. It was I don't know is essentially the most fun you can have an Adele meeting anywhere. I second anthology on the Grassy Grassy knoll. Exactly right seriously we got we got these rockstar clinicians and then us. How did we do this? I don't even know how he landed this Gig man all these amazing zing people and then Jason Tonight so funny. I don't even know why they give us the time of day. But it's because we have microphones twitter's I think gift to Gab Allen. We do do we do we. We were the ultimate in the right place at the right time. I'm pretty sure that we had. We owe a lot to that so it was really fun to see all the different podcast doing their thing. They're in one of them. Like I said was implant dentist implants in word worms with Moody and they.

Daily dental heck's podcast so short, you can listen to it on the way to work dental hacks nation. Welcome back to another dental axe daily. We have a very special dental Hex daily usually have focused topics with one guest. But today, we have three guests, and it's a very special episode because we are going to be talking about a new venture in the dental hacks journey. We are spinning a new pot off of the dental is so exciting really stand. Now, you know that last year almost a year ago like from right this second. We started a group that didn't another Facebook group that was specific to clinical stuff dental clinical stuff, we call it the clinical hacks, and it was going pretty good for while. And it sort of died down in it's just within the last month or so gotten a real shot the arb- because these three guys have decided to commit themselves to making this group. Go. Oh in in that spirit. We're also going to have a weekly podcast that we're gonna call the clinical hacks podcasts. So joining me to explain their their vision, I should say for the clinical hacks are the clinical hacks themselves. We have Dr Kevin fryer doctors Zach minors in Dr Matt Jones. How are you guys doing? Grandpa grant alad. Alright. So Kevin tell us a little bit about what are we doing here? Why do we have this group in white? Why are we starting this bucket? All right. So we wanted to create a group where people could feel comfortable to post clinical questions to get questions answered to interact with each other in free forum where there's no time outs or penalties for not posting a photo or any sorta kinda silly childish rules that we could all be adults in there and being an adult being sometimes you can have a little bit of fun. Make a joke. But also learn we sort of want this forum in this podcast to be more bread and butter focus, maybe a little bit more skewed for the younger dentist shirt, something that everybody can learn from I like that. I like them. So let's just say I wanna put up an L O L Meam in reference to someone's post is that. Okay, guys. What are you encouraged courage? Yes, we like to laugh will I will like get muted for something or any. What's what's mute? I like that answer. Do I have to post picture with everyone of my my posts in the clinical, heck nude? Just as long as it's a picture of you, nude Ellen. You can post all you want. I don't have to post. You can post a question without a photo. What if you're a dental student, can you can you post in our group? So this is something I feel really strongly about that. I have a Hartford these dental students there they've got a lot to learn. And I think that we owe it as a profession to sort of bring them along. So Donald students out there. You're listening to this or you will be listening to this. Or you're in the group ready? There's no such thing. As a dumb question, you have leaders in the field in in that group that can answer your questions. That's excellent. So I this exciting in what do you guys for C for the podcasts? Like what how long's it gonna be? What what what are you gonna do? Are you gonna you gonna have question and answers, you have special guests? What's your thought process here? Allen, do you? Remember, the podcast cereal. Yes. It's going to be nothing like that nothing in like cereal. Very good. Is that Ciro season one two or three that it's going to be nothing? Like, I don't remember. I didn't listen to the other seasons sides. He's one. So I can't. Three in Cleveland, so shout out to our criminal Justice system. But Zach why don't you take that away? Well, I think we're going for you're going to be in for about twenty five to thirty minute episode each week. And it's going to be a MAC and Kevin. And I kick it around, and I just kind of one specific topic and trying to get kinda dialed it on that one topic and. Can I going through how we would do a certain procedure? How we how we handle certain material or just start basic about presses. And a good question. You should ask yourself is wireless into us. And that's a good question. It's all of us are mid-career Dennis like, Kevin where where are you at with your your dental career role pretty experienced, well, I'm into it. So I'm at the tail end, but I've been through all the trials and tribulations. I do think that's our strength that we have various angles of how we and experience levels. Max is when did you graduate? You're at least ten years in our sure. Yeah, I'm cash fourteen years in L most. So, you know, been in long enough to see things fill a couple of times. Isn't it the truth to isn't that like the line to draw you'd be grizzled veteran FTSE your own stuff start to fail, but I'm so closely imperfect now. Yeah. But you know to kind of answer for that. I mean, I think the format that he kind of shooting for with this is is the conversations we all have a sea of aunts. And you know, we're just a couple of regular s Dennis just kind of Tulsa around ideas. And you hear about a product to hear about technique. And and that's what this is kind of out about three regular s Dennis just talking about how they do day-to-day industry and just hoping that listener might hear something they haven't heard of before. Addition. We wanna make the clinical hacks Facebook group a forum for you guys shape, the podcast, you know, we're gonna take threads from that. Where you're asking your questions, and hopefully, we can turn that into episode. So it's gonna be a very listener driven listener driven podcasts worksite at about. It's really cool because okay. The original the original dental hacks had we split things almost half and half between brain trust where we had roundtables and guest, and we've for one reason or another a lot of times it's just because it's more difficult to to. We don't have as many brain trust as we used to in this in a way, this is kinda like that brain trust. We've we've got we've got that situation. Now, you're did you say how long you were going to try and make these episodes? Well, how long are we aiming for these she for twenty five to thirty? That's I think that's a really what's interesting is that the daily is shorter than the the Friday show is was three times long as that. So this is an interesting thing is we're going for a. Shorter. Like, if you've got a long commute, you might get an episode and a half of this just saying that it's true. Now, we have a link for every commute we kind of do we kind of do in. We're fixing idiom and learn exact you guys are solidly medium. Should get about that. Medium medium, though, the second. So what kinds of topics are, you know, what kinds of topics have you guys thought to cover? What do you think? Like, for instance, what are you gonna talk about tonight after we're done recording us upset? Let's see tonight. We've got we're talking about extractions, basically directions. And I believe when you are. Here are episode next week. You're going to be listening to just what three different Dennis use for their composites and talked about what they used and why there's restored of topics. It pressuring just you know, we're just kind of breaking down everything that we do and what we use. And why we use it? Well, interestingly too, you guys kind of recorded. We recorded an episode of. I don't know a couple months back where we were talking about Endo for General Dennis. It was used three on it. And that's kind of where we decided this head some legs. Right. Because it was sort of a you guys had chemistry together sounded way hotter than it meant to. But. I'll just leave that there. And clearly it was fun. And you guys did a really good job. And then and then I think we all met up at Boise dentistry, and what happened there. Well, we all in a hotel room together. Yeah. That was that was something else totally separate at this this hatched at three episode was recorded live live in Scottsdale. So it's it's been brewing for a few months. That's still like it. When it comes out. You know, it's it's very cool. So if anyone's curious they want to hear the original episode was dental hacks podcast to twenty three we call the brain trust does Endo and it was these three guys on with Jason. And it was a good time. And then you guys sat down face to face at voice dentistry record your first episode, and we've done some recording since then I I'm real happy with it. What will happen to is? If any of these guys can't be there, probably Jason and myself rotate in and sit in the chair because we're all, you know, restorative dentist doing stuff. So it'd be very cool. I'm looking forward to it. I think it's cool that we're going to spend this thing off. I think that it will. Bring an angle that we haven't really necessarily hit the purely clinical stuff. I'm are you guys excited that you're you're the purely clinical guys feeling pressure about that? A lot is I I know I'm not the sharpest clinical hack in the in the bunch, but I'm still excited to talk about just some good basic regular dentistry. So I think it's going to be I think it's gonna peel to the averaged into the average Brax, I think it's real world stuff. I greet. Now, you know. Okay. So you know, that I'm a fan boy of Dr Jason Smithson, and he is he is clinically maybe the most excellent dentist I've ever seen. And I love hearing from him to get me wrong a love here. But this is this is aimed toward regular dentist doing regular dentistry on a regular basis in how our day to day stuff works in in what's working in our hands pretty excited about that. I think living on Facebook and Instagram and all that stuff. Maybe that kind of dentistry doesn't get a fair shake all the time. Is that is that what you guys are thinking? Absolutely. And I mean, I I think one thing will bring to the table is. You know, everything can't be dental pornography? And there's an element of officiency to has to be there in a in a private practice in kind of tell how we do things efficiently. And simply, but what you guys take insurance.

"Features and the price comes down signing Lee. Vote we vote funnel little bit. But. Over time. You're going to have these machines that are just wicked cool that you can put in your you'll pay for it. Yeah. The the reality is like most dentists are like me, and they're doing, you know, the majority of the work that they're doing single unit or a couple units at a time. And I'm going to argue that the the lower end scanners that are now powder 'less and pretty quick and pretty easy to use that no cost that much their sub twenty thousand dollars. I think you can justify that as a bread and butter Dennis. I really do I'm very pleased with very pleased with them at right now. And I think that I guess the market is really cool. The market has got a lot of cool things going on. So I'm excited. I think it's great. A lot of good stuff out there, especially like toys. Well, let's just say you you wanted to do some other types of things in your life. Let's say you wanted to I don't know market your practice online. Let's see wanna do that. What what would you do Jason like, what kinds of things can you think of that? You could do to learn about these things. Get some postcards and flyers. And you just start camping neighborhood stuffing, those mailboxes people. I like finding telephone poles to staple the flyers to like that. Your citizen, dick. I am. I'm telling you the state because I I am fond of. Or no that reference there. Thanks, lance. Thanks for that. I think lanes gets mentioned in every dental x podcast. And if he hasn't I think the tradition starts right now. Our last week. I did mention it last week. He's gets mentioned pretty darn often. I I'm as of that. So any other thoughts of things that you might do? Well, you could learn to do some of this stuff yourself like doing some Google ads and some basic ads and making one of these hot damn funnels people keep talking about. And there's a place to do that. I heard that there's a place. There's it's a legendary place that people speak of anti-bush tones place of higher higher learning. And it's called the dental hacks academy yet is. Don't pay. Attention dental. Heck's part? That's not synonymous with higher. Earning an academy. There's an academy when you had the academy it polishes the rest of it right off. Listen did. So I was out on Facebook. And I and I follow a lot of these marketing groups, and there is a couple of people out in this one group that we're putting out all the good content on how to dear on ads and put right keywords in of your ads correctly. The all that good stuff, and I reached out to them. And I said, hey, you did as for dentists, and they said, heck, yeah. Teamed up with Kaitlyn Brian Schlick thing who have a marketing marketing firm, and they made some good education for Dennis to be able to sit down and do your own Google ads. Do your Facebook ads and get people to your website. Get people signed up for implant sleep apnea, all kinds of stuff. They got all the good stomach. Let's say this. You can do your own things pretty much at any point the differences. They tell you how to do it. Well, and they tell you what works which is pretty important his. Like what I know about Google ads and Facebook ads that whatever budget you give them they'll use. It's the difference between being effective and not being effective. Like, they would love it. If you just decide to start doing ads, not know what the hell you're doing. So thus you need some help. You can't call the rep either. They're not gonna they're going to point you in the direction, it's going to spend the most money home. I gosh, totally. Of course, they are. I mean, why wouldn't they that's what I would do if I were Google honesty. Don't be evil. Isn't the isn't that there isn't that their rule don't be evil Kaelin when I first met kind of look through maga- glads, and like, hey, don't they this? This is costing more money you need to this is cost you more money than you need to don't do this more. I mean, I thought I knew quite a bit about it. And they're like, no, you know, you're doing a lot of this wrong. And they give good system on how to do it and spreadsheet and how to do it. So it's it's been really great. If you if you interested in marketing your practice at all, and you kinda wanna learn about little more about this who joined the dental hacks academy, academy dot dental hacks. Not come that's a good idea. I thought so I'm actually going to the website right now. It's it's a it's a it's a good deal of information. What everyone is saying is first off people who are following. It are crushing it with like they're getting some pretty great pretty benefits from it. Ali Sergei was was actually talking about how well it was working for him. The other people are saying there's a ton of information like it's drinking from provider hoses a lot of information. So I think it's worth your worth your time again, academy dot dental hacks dot com, so go check that out. Jason's put his heart and soul into this a long way the schlicht ings in. They know what they're talking about. Jason has a lot of passion. They have a lot of knowledge. See what? I did there. The combination is deadly combination is polish. That's right. That's right now. So we actually had a couple conversations at. The Chicago mid-winter with with our guests today. We're doing two guests because we have to shorter interviews that are both really really good. The first guest. We have we've had on the show multiple times before a guy that you've probably heard of before his name is doctor, Cory Glenn. So Corey sat down, of course that down with us in. Well, we're talking about a lot of different things. But one of the things we talked about his his how he built his he's got like a learning center near the at his home. He's basically out in the woods. And I know Jason was green with envy, the entire time that he was talking about that s got a is a house out. I don't know how many acres. He's got in the in the foothills of Tennessee, and he's got rock formations and all kinds of land that goes out and ride four wheelers and has also got a learning center out there, which sounds just about perfect to my estimation. So that that'd be fantastic backdate that. But of course, of course, opposite great guy. One of the smartest people ever meet in your. Life so his. Yeah, he's man. Here's the thing. I have a couple denture cases that have come walked through my door in the last couple of weeks in Corey talked to bit with us when we talked to him in Chicago about his digital denture kind of journey and how they how they put that together and blue-sky bio and what they're doing. And it's a very compelling thing in he's offered. I mean, they they've got a lot of the coursework that's in their in their Facebook group. So in other words, you can see a lot of what they're doing at no cost. It's not an expensive way to do it. But but I mean digital dentures as I've heard like ten different people in Facebook, say doing dentures digitally might make dentures kind of fun. You know what I'm saying? Like, I don't love doing dentures. I haven't I'm not particularly good at it. But this is very appealing to me. So I'm I'm excited about that. We'll we'll put some links to the digital denture content that he's created. But we talked about that a bit in Chicago as well heartache with dentures is is a lot of time in between. Something's wrong. Yup. You get an a it's wrong. Okay. I gotta send it back to the lab. And then you're kinda limbo. So if you're able to print big modifications stuff right in office. I mean, it's a quick turnaround at really takes the pain out of the process. I'm going to tell you that that like if you're not looking at your lab fees on removable removable shockingly expensive. Verve. Levy, I mean, it is it like if you have to do a lot of Dink and around with it takes it can suck the prophet right out. I honestly dentures are almost two point where you can't charge enough for them in Corey is literally, you know, basically, you know, it's most of the most of the cost is in you know, is in print resin because you're you're essentially printing, your Tryon's as your refining, your processes, pretty cool. Now, I have a printer in the office. But if it were something that I was doing regular. I would make sure that I did. Because what they're doing with. This is pretty amazing. So well, we talk about that a bit. The second guests that we had is a new friend to us. His name's Dr Brian MaGee. He's. A listener to the dental heck's. So I apologize for that. Brian all the time you've wasted. You can't ever get that back. So I apologize for that. But he's doing a course with Taran in North Carolina coming up on oral conscious sedation in actually will put a Lincoln show notes because they would love to have you out there. It is on April April fifth and six it's coming up a few weeks away. It's in it's in Raleigh at two runes a learning center, which frankly is awesome fantastic. We haven't been out to Teran's place. Not only is it a great place to take a course. But Truman throws a pretty good party to he likes to have people. You know, he's involved with the whole thing. So it's very cool. And we talked with Brian about his journey into oral conscious sedation. He actually kind of busted quite a few myths that I had with it. What did you think of us talking with Brian anything de change your mind about oral oil sedation? Yes. Really get he kinda looted to it being big boring, but it's anything, but that it's it's pretty pretty interesting into some of the nuances that you don't think about in your practice and the way that people don't wanna come into a practice because fear taking that boundary out of the way could be really powerful profitable, and helpful to your practice. Definitely. And he debunked the Mike concept of if you're throwing it out there. If your marketing for for sedation patients, doesn't that isn't that waving the flag for crazy people, and he agreed with me to some extent. But then said the story is that there are plenty of patients in your office. Now that you already know in like in probably worked on that you could you could help through their procedures, you you could potentially get them to move on treatment knowing that today's is available. So he's he's not so heavy marketing as in just being able to offer it, which I have to say, it was a really smart way to look at it. I think but he's super nice guy. Really nice guy. We had a great conversation with him too. So between the two of them. We have Dr Corey Glenn, and Dr Brian MaGee from the Chicago midwinter. So why would see this patient vario patient in actually one of his front teeth just had reached the end of its life. We're taking it out, and it was going to leave a gap right of number and leave a gap. So I decided that I would bond for the short term of just gonna blonde I was gonna bond number eight between nine and seven, and it's not the long fixed. But at least he doesn't go that too. So I'm doing that. And I'm realizing that I can make this look a whole lot knife. I just layered some micro Phil right over the facial. And I did that in realized that. Yeah, I've got a bunch of copies of different colors of her nail migra fill in in my mind. I think sometimes I think micro fill is like this special. Occasion composite. It's the, you know, you bring that out when you're doing the fanciest case that's worth thing. But that's not really true at all. Especially since they've got an compus now just drop it in the heater. And you use it just like regular composite the differences it polishes like nothing you've ever. Used Pasha's wells anything it hangs onto his polish as well as anything. And let's be honest. There's nothing that handles like a micro fill. So don't make microfilm just your special. Occasion composite for interior cases username micro, Phil wherever you're in the front of the mouth wherever you need a great polish where we need to keep that polish RENAMO micro. Phil takes you from good to great because there's nothing like mica fill in the front of the mouth, go checkout. Renamo Mike, go fill at dental hacks dot com slash Mitra, fill it yourself some CompuServe and try it use it in some places where you haven't used it for a little while you're gonna love this stuff. Be glad you had it. They're doing some amazing things over there, Chicago. Thanks a lot for supporting the show cosmic. Dental hacks nation again sitting here at the premiere booth at the Chicago midwinter, we're we're approaching the end of day one Jason told me he'd be napping by now and he's not trying trying desperately. But he so with us a special guest, one of our favorite guests had you on a bunch of times back to the show duct Glen. How're you doing good? Good guys. Yeah. So we saw you last at the Boise dentistry when you in Barron. We're presenting I didn't get a chance to really talk get chance to talk to anyone voice. Didn't really busy. It's it is that that kind of meeting, but it's also the kind of meeting where on the fly, we can fix your av, which was kind of cool. Right. Like that was all right in and working with you guys. Great because there's no like, your your your pulse. Didn't go up at all. I could tell so that was actually back in the corner actually making my slides checked at some point. Yeah. Messenger. And I had like five messages cursing me out. Where are you? Also stressed me out at all. So man, you know, I don't know the last time we had a Corey specific episode. It's been a couple years in you, are I think you were you might have been in clinical practice, at least still had my. Yeah. Now, you have an estate. Now, you have. Time farming exactly into a psycho prepar, I know, and he does I will say on the stores for that now on the floor on the floor of the Chicago where you don't do that many people dressed the way that you're dressed that you've got. I mean, you look like could go hunting if you wanted to which I like that. Actually, I think it's good. So actually, tell us a little bit about you've got your little hideaway. Now, you guys are jamming courses they're like crazy. What tells tell us about how that came to be SO? I, you know, originally when I was started because my back issues, I hated the fly and stuff. So I started doing courses there in Winchester and originally had a little place I bought on our town square. And that's just kind of where I work day to day. But we outgrew that quickly because I've just got too much junk and machinery and stuff in there. So your head. Yeah. We we ended up using a good bit of the money from our practice sale to purchase a two hundred eighty acre farm in the mountains. So that it's got a house on it. So we started doing the courses out there, which is a lot of fun, actually because it's a very very different from any Seve, and you too you can walk out during the breaks, and they are fifteen to pumpkins. Was looking into that. But there's a lot of regulations there on in Seattle.

"boise dentistry" Discussed on The Dental Hacks Podcast

"Welcome to the dental hacks daily dental hacks podcast so short, you can listen to it on the way to work dental hacks nation. Welcome back to another dental Hex daily where we have our our shorter more focused podcast for your your commute. This is going to be a really cool one with us. We have some of the sponsors of the Boise dentistry with me, we have Laura Maili in Michael Anderson. Welcome to the show, you guys they are from the wondrous agency tell us a little bit about yourself. So we've been doing this for about six years six years, and you learn are married started the agency kitchen table together. It's feels like a long time ago. Now, it's crazy, but be haven't been really lucky to grow. We've got twenty five. Awesome team members marketers back in San Diego that really do. Great job for us in our focuses were full-service MARTINI agency that works dentists. That's all we do and specialist. So okay. So you're you're dental your dental only that's very interesting, and you do all kinds of marketing, assuming you're basically, you're basically full service, which is to say, you, you know, you can go from websites to photo shoots to video to all that content creation. All that stuff. The thing. I think there's a lot of market is out there. There are just just digital. And we do that we build websites do SEO you, you know, PC we do social media. But the thing that we also added that his you know, that our dentists are also local businesses, and so we also helped plan and execute local marketing naked eagle boards TV radio in office referral programs. Manage paper all that stuff. And so that's really been how we create a full service agency that serves all of our dentists interesting interesting. So before we started recording here today, we're talking about some things that that we can talk about in the dental marketing space, and basically one of the things that you were telling me about is how important you find authenticity in marketing for dentists is in how how a lot of marketing is missing tell me a little bit about that. Yeah. I mean, I think when we think about a small business environment like people want to do business with people. And so we have to show off you you're beautiful practice. The culture you created at the practice or staff, the the patient base. And so we wanna capture what you've created the Manchu created within your walls and without outside of that as well. And so, you know, gone are the days of grandma and grandpa sitting in a field holding hands or random children on a playground. We really need to connect that perspective patient with you. As provider in a practitioner, I talked Pataki's is literally one of the Baynes of I think marketing in general like I think that and I'm not gonna lie. We use him Socrates for the dental heck's podcast because it's easy. But the reality is stop photography's for stuff. You're gonna see your photo somewhere else guarantee. And you always when you do it's always in the worst possible places. Like if I if I used to tie or something. Guaranteed. It's going to be on like Viagra commercial like next month for sure. But so you guys are anti-soccer taffy. Yeah. I think you kinda pose the problem. That's a great place to start. You know, really when we got into this looked around the space. We noticed that you know, of marketers just hammering out products. Now is a website that look the same as one hundred other websites. There's a direct mail that looks the same as a hundred other dried mailers, and you know, we live in a contents economy. Now, Pete, you know, we're just creating content. There's so much content. People are looking for high quality content net that home soon just about every industry that we're looking at for marketing right now, and you know dentistry is no different. I think you can't check the box. We talk about that a lot of work. You know, we're not box checkers. We don't want our clients to be box jacquards. It's not enough to say, I've got a website or ice direct. You gotta look at and say, what am I saying? What's my message are people get into known? That's really the number one question you should start with our people getting to know him. That's a really good point. Do you find that? There's some pushback from the dent. Okay. Because here's the thing dentists for marketing in this may be. Changing. But I still think that there's a fair percentage of us that would just like to write the check and be done with it. You know market my practice for me. And just bring in lots of new patients in good people. And I'll just write you the check you run into that. Or not really. Yes. I think -absolutely, and what I say is, you know, I think good agency are good marketers are gonna make sure that you know, they do the doing they move the ball forward. But we need something to market. And I think that you know, really, we do a very good job of talking to our clients up front talking podcast like this up front about the importance of need contents. And so when people when people work with us, I think they've really had that jumped into their head. And you know, it's just essential. You have to have we have to be able to market you. And what makes you unique because the space is crowded there's his other dentist out there. And there's someone in your space that's gonna be happiest that yet put me out there. Let people get to know me. And of course, it's
